Quick one for Ed001 my old mate. I kept quiet during your calls for Gary Medel. I admire your judgement but just didn't see it from what I had seen of him. But he has been quality for Chile. Not saying let's go buy the dude but just backin you up. A very solid player and his positional sense is top class

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, it is good to know other people can see why I rate him so highly.}

Hi ed001 and fans I have been dying to talk about Medel and I do not know why we do not buy him he is fantastic and o horse at work. Really good and I don't think Cardiff will be a stumbling block. Ed001 do you think BR will not consider him I really think he will make a difference to our team.

We bought Can for the CDM position.

Agree0 Disagree0

I do rate medel but at the moment don't see where we'd play him in our team. I definitely don't think he is consistent enough at cb to secure a spot and I don't think he has the ball playing skills of Gerrard to play our deep playmaker position. he is a very good dm but in the same way I wouldn't have Nigel de jong I don't think medel is what we need right now unless you were thinking of bringing him on to sure up games or playing a few tricky games with Stevie. would be interested to hear your thoughts ed.

Eds is there any truth in the reports that we are looking at coming in with a late bid for Hakan Calhanoglu?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Has he played well today?}

I didn't think he had played today full stop Ed?! Just reports saying that late interest to stop him going to Bayern Leverkusen has com from us and possibly Gooners that's all. I'm not a MOTD want want want player Ed like some.

I would love our "links" to A. Sanchez and Chelski's links to Costa to be true. Think we'll get better value

Abaka

When did chelsea played long balls?

Agree0 Disagree0

Costa definitely doesn't need long balls. I don't personally rate him at 30 mill + but he is a good player and hasn't shown any form since having a few niggly injuries at the end of the season. but did Chelsea play long balls to drogba? Not really he is certainly a striker similar to those Mourinho has liked in the past and when on form can bully a lot of centre backs and I think he will free up more space for hazzard Oscar etc coming from off him.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2014 14:26:05
I would expect Oscar to leave Chelsea. He was shocking against Mexico.
Dont understand y they play him at position which he is really poor. RW?. u kidding me?

18 Jun 2014 20:54:27
Hey Ed001 I remember you wishing for Medel before last season. i'm with you on that one, think he'd be a great addition to the squad. What's his situation with Cardiff being relegated?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - looking for a move.}

18 Jun 2014 21:12:16
Cardiff looking to recoup £8m for him apparently.

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't they pay close to £12M for him - tbf he's looked very assured - unlike when he played for cardiff - not saying that's his fault.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2014 08:19:03
I think they realise that he wants to play at a higher level and they would rather sell him at a loss than to loan him out for the season. I wouldn't be surprised if he went back to Spain during this transfer window. For £8m we should definitely look at opening discussions for his signature as soon as the World Cup ends.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Gary Medel will move with Valencia (who have held talks), Parma and Malaga interested.}

19 Jun 2014 07:43:18
He looked great under malky mackay. He's like a pitbull with a brain. Controlled chaos. His positional sense is world class. I'll never forget that day he pretty much dominated Manchester city's midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2014 09:12:03
Ed01 would be in tears, I have hardly seen him passionate about any player than Medel.
For large part of his game, I agree with Ed01. He looks a pretty sold player. He would have been a possibility, If we were not in for Can

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I will never understand why we have not gone for him. He is ideal for us. You are right though, it is going to be a heartbreaker for me! This is why I hate giving opinions about which players I would like us to get, the ones I really want always go elsewhere. Sanchez, Vidal, Medel and Honda I have been wanting us to sign since I saw them as kids, still not happening though.}

Hi Ed001 - thanks for being open and honest with your thoughts - glad there's no abuse coming from doing so.

One question though - is there anyone out there that is currently fits into that list of players yoiu've quoted that people might not know about; especially from one of the lesser known leagues (i.e. unfullied potential but looks like they will make it big)?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I would have to have a think about this one, my head is full of the World Cup at the mo. I will spend some time putting a list together when there is a gap in the matches. I will put it on my to do list now.}

Thanks Ed - but no problem if you don't have time - here's hoping for an injury free match for our players shortly :o)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it will probably be during a gap in the games but I will make time for it.}

19 Jun 2014 18:15:35
Ed01. Christ you wanted Vidal?. How dare the board not getting him.
Was Vidal immense in his young age?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes, he was special back then. I doubt we could have got a work permit for him back then though, which is probably why he was not considered.}

18 Jun 2014 20:49:15
If Jose is watching the game tonight, I wouldn't be surprised to see him walk away from Costa deal.
What has he done so far is beyond me.
Alonso is a Liverpool Legend, But today he has been utter rubbish and poor.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The same Costa we wanted last season (to potentially replace Suarez); bit harsh as he's probably not fit.

Good to see you an equal opportunities "slagger off of players" Harry ;o)

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 22:34:00
I am always behind truth. Both looked poor. I judge them on the mts they play. not the past.
Y was he ahead of Torres?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 23:40:16
You may be behind the truth but you are very knee jerky with your opinions. Diego Costa has had an outstanding season and coming back from injury.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not Torres. err. cows arse and banjo - you put the phrase together.
If you've watched At. Madrid this season you'll know that their system is much more akin to that of Chelsea than the tiki taka of Spain. Costa should fit right in.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2014 03:40:58
Why he chose Spain instead of Brazil is beyond me. He'll b perfect for Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2014 08:34:00

If he was rushed back from injury, He shouldn't had start. He was really poor, Touch and control were awful, Same goes with Alonso.
Do I need to mention about Torres?
If you have hard about a player David Villa?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 20:45:46
It's not just about who is coming and going at our squad, that will determine where we will finish next season. Our competitors are trying to strenghten as well.

While Arsenal seems to be more of the same, Tottenham silent, Chelsea splashing big, and United lurking (not to mention City, Everton and whoever is going to be next seasons surprise package), who do you guys think will come out of this window more stronger?

And while we obviously follow all the rumours on this page, who will be the biggest surprise signing in the PL?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Balotelli back to PL is the one I see, and Arsenal would be my guess.

Fabregas to chelsea has to be the front runner untill now though

Biggest one for us? I'm actually worried that Coutinho could spring a surprise exit, with a new goal keeper coming in.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2014 00:44:04
I'm happy with our summer so far. Not really concerned with what other teams are doing. Man city and Tottenham spent vast amounts last summer and look where that got them in comparison to us.
I can't see city spending a lot this window, due to the ffp's. Chelsea will be the ones I think, they've recouped a lot of money through the sales of mata and luiz, if fabregas and costa click for them I think they could be really hard to beat next year, especially with their defence. Hope I'm wrong though, would love to see Stevie lifting the trophy he deserves.

Hey red fans

So just a quick query . If pre season is July and Brendan knows we need a much bigger squad because it's not likely to get 2nd with the same team again

So does anyone else think transfers are a bit slow at the moment?knowing new players is the only to repeats another good year?

Maybe my expectations are too high

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think your expectations are too high ;o)

Apart from free transfers how many teams have agreed deals for 2 or 3 players thus far?

Chelsea, us.

Also do you want to buy a player before the world cup for him to get an injury ruling them out for a season; selling clubs hoping their player does well to get a bigger transfer fee etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

World cup is on mate.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the world cup is slowing the whole market down but we have already signed 2 players, and the transfer window is not officially open yet so I think we have done well so far.

Not having to play a CL qualifier also helps in that our first competitve game is further away so we have more preparation time with new players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers for the response peeps!

Sanchez is 25 and I'd workd class, I hope we don't get lallana but if we do and we had even the smallest chance of getting Sanchez I'd regret it! In my opinion he'd fit in so well with our attacking line with his movement and ability to play in any of the forward roles

Ed what do you think the plans are for jack dunn and
Jordan Rossiter next season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is too early to tell, the players get assessed in preseason, players that are in and around the squad, like those two, get a chance to impress. Then a decision is made on whether to loan them or not.}

Dunn could go on loan; Rositer isn't 18 until Mar 2015 so won't be allowed to go on loan (I believe until he is 18).

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 17:16:46
According to Harry rednapp this is the worst England squad ever, so I guess he would have brought gazza and teddy sheringham out of retirement?

Not sure what his reasoning is based on considering the shower that Capello took to south Africa the last time out I would have thought they had their chance for England.

Who who could have come into the squad to make it significantly better than it is?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He would have had his old Spurs brigade in the squad.
Dawson, Defoe, Walker, Huddlestone, Crouch.
He might have even tempted Ledley King out of retirement.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure who could come in but it would be improved with Rooney taken out

Agree0 Disagree0

Silly comment from Harry. Perhaps he's still bitter from not landing the England job?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 19:47:49
I completely disagree with him
Its a pretty good squad. Is he forgetting the graham taylor or steve mclaren squads?

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree frankly, it is a good squad, just not utilised properly by its manager. For me luke shaw needs to play and baines out. Not sure who we could replace johnson with tho. Rooney I would actually play in a front two with sturridge and play one of barkley or lallana for welbeck. Shame oxelade is still not 100 percent otherwise he would be in ahead of those two.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think its a decent squad looking in as an irishman and I think you played well the other night, play like that again and cover baines a bit more and you will go through to the ko stages, harry would have been a better manager than roy imo but you are where you are, get behind your team is what I say. I shouted for you the other night because of the Liverpool factor and I was delighted for sterling who was fantastic

England never played in the world cup in the 70s, didn't do well in 82, stayed at home 94 oh was it USA beat them in 1950, Euro 88 lost all three games in the tornament so this looking back to greatness can only really be 66 if he was any good he would just speak out and support the lads imo they done well on Sat and maybe deserved a draw.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2014 01:06:32
Think it's a good England side at the minute. Maybe not ready for this World Cup, but certainly should be for the euro's if they carry on this way. I would rather watch the boys play positive attacking football, like they did against Italy, than the dire c**p we we had to endure in 2010.
Sterling has the potential to be a world beater, and Sturridge aswell, though he's sometimes guilty of missing the pas for a tap in to take a shot. Forgivable given the season he's just had though.
As for Rooney, he needs dropped, but as much as the press seem to be calling for it, could you imagine the headlines if he was? That, and, who is going to do better? Lallana and wellbeck aren't an improvement, and ox isn't fully fit.
Fancy our chances if we get out of the group though, Harrys wrong on this one, I think this team is showing the capabilities we have been crying for as fans for a long time.

Agree0 Disagree0

there are lot of people here who don't rate shaqiri and I understand that. I watched most of bayern munich games because my roomate is a big fan of them and I have to say what a player he is. atleast he was until guardiola came and totaly destroyed best footbal that was ever played by yup heynckes. in his system shaqiri was one of the best players leaving the likes of robben and muller on the bench when on form. I said that is type of player we need for our wing:hardworking, willing to press opposition, scoring goals, direct and his end product is not bad at all I would say better than any of our wingers. he is a bargain. I would say he has some altitude problems but didn't sturridge complain about not having playtime. that means he is hungry. for me he would be better value for money than lallana altough I would like to see them both at Liverpool

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Interesting point mandzo, I can only go on what I have seen since we have been linked and that is why I'm not convinced but u seen to have much more experience of watching the player. For me kono and Alexis Sanchez would b the ones to go for

Agree0 Disagree0

I am sure sanchez is probably dream signing but very unlikely. if suarez were to leave I think he would be ideal replacement. I am not too sure about kono I think he is very good player direct, pacey, good shoot but somehow inconsistent has those gaps in matches. shaqiri is class ask any munich fan. sometimes he was simply unplayable I really like him as a player

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love Sanchez, but as you say, unattainable, unless Suarez leaves to free up the money. I've honestly never seen Shaqiri play, so can't judge him, but some German friends speak highly of him skill wise, but also say he's abit of an arrogant ahole, but he sounds a good fit to our system. Kono I've seen play a few times, granted not a lot, but he just doesn't seem a player who I would say has the attributes for the epl. Saying that though, I'm not a manager, or a scout, and thought Morientes had everything it took to succeed here

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 14:57:56
It astounds me the ignorance of some football fans on here.

With regards to shaqiri. I'm bored of people saying they've watched him in the bundesliga. BULLSH!T. I've worked in the betting/Football industry for 4 years. I got paid to watch these matches and I highly doubt people will have seen that much of him. given the 2pm kickoffs on saturdays, not only that, but taking the time out of sitting and watching a completely different league. I can barely do this when my job includes watching these games!

1. For those of you that weren't impressed by him in the swiss game recently. How do you expect him to show what he can do when he's constrained by a team that practices clean sheets, and prioritises safety and not conceding over expansive football!?!?

2. At 22 he's young, and he's playing for a team that's reached the champions league final 3 of the last 5 occasions, has quite frankly an immense squad and HUUUGE competition for places.

3. with regards to the squad bayern typically play 4-1-4-1 This doesn't leave him much room to get in the squad.Robben and ribery are bankersto start on the wing ahead of him, with schweinsteiger, kroos, goetze all aiming to play in the centre, with martinez and alacantra too. Ofcourse he's going to struggle to get into the squad and have to come off the bench.

Just gain a bit of perspective here people. And please for the love of GOD stop pretending you've seen him play week in week out, and that seeing him for 90 minutes for his dull national side is enough to form an opinion.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said pal

18 Jun 2014 16:03:56
So you have been paid to watch shaquiri?

Agree0 Disagree0

Post of the week!

Agree0 Disagree0

You don't need to watch a player week in week out to decide if he's good enough.shaqiri isn't better than sterling just stronger imo

Agree0 Disagree0

I absolutley agree shaqiri is quality and that is it. much more proven than lallana and one is 22 the other is 27

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you may underestimate how much football many on here watch. We may be Liverpool supporters, but many also are just football fans and watch a lot of games that aren't specifically Liverpool related.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah. Sorry but I'm not having it.working 40 hours a week. Sleeping around 40. Watching premier league matches etc. Doesn't leave much time to do that sort of homework. Especially when you consider how many armchair fans know so much of konoplyanka of the Ukraine league and so much about the Portuguese and nd Spanish leagues. Not a chance I'm buying that these fans have seen anything other than the odds champions league spot

How often do you change your mind Home_Fan? The other week you were harping on about signing Shaqiri, now you're against it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally disagree with the original post there are many fans who watch either the German, Italian or Spanish leagues. There easily watched on many channels such as BT, Sky or even via an android.

Admittadley some fans do claim to have watched them week in and week out when they haven't. Saying that many fans do, I agree with the comments on the Ukrainian league but not German, Italian or Spanish leagues they are very easily accessible and can also be recorded if needs be.

Dont get this 'we already have a decent lw' nonsense, you can have 2 wingers you know! Plus sterling can play in the middle, players need rests, he can play either wing, there's lots of options!

Agree0 Disagree0

DVR + working from home most every day make a beautiful combination and allows for watching lots of games.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 20:49:03
Agree with Conbicks, we may have one good lw but we need another. Have European football and although I don't think it will effect him, sterling has never played in it before. Secondly, what if he gets a knocked or injured and you need options off the bench - also look what playing Owen too much when he was young did. As for shaquiri he looks good but not seen much of him, watched kono a fair few times (liked him and tried to catch his Europa league games and international matches). Finally fair enough I don't watch as much football as everyone else (work long hours) but try to catch it when I can - don't mind what league (serie a, Europa, bundesliga [always on bt] even SPL) and follow players. I base my opinion from watching players as much as I can, but is a banter site. If someone gets MOTD fever or things a player who isn't great is amazing, then that's what this page is before. Don't mind someone saying I am completely wrong as long as it is make a well constructed argument not just he is useless

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 14:20:08
Some points I'd like everyone's opinion on.

First off
We are going to sign a LB this summer obviously, there's 4 main targets, Rojo, Blind, Moreno, Rodriguez.
Which one would u prefer?
Ed's have said blind & rod are very unlikely. All are better than what we have I just hope we don't end up buying Bertrand after all this speculating.

Second.
Lallana & shaqiri
It's obvious right now that these two are our main targets.
I watched shaqiri's first half the other night and at times he looks in a different league to lallana, but at other times he looked like he didn't want to be on the pitch.

Personally I'd prefer lallana but 30m is absolutley ridiculous, I guarentee we'll see Sanchez going to juve for less than 30m and were all gunna be saying why did we buy lallana if we could have got Sanchez for cheaper?

My choice would be
Blind
Lallana.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

18 Jun 2014 14:29:39
Rojo or Rodriguez for the LB position

Lallana is valued at a very high fees by Southampton, And after the two bids got rejected, can't see them lowering thier valuation.
I would rather go to Barca and try to get in Sanchez.
Sanchez is better than both Lallana and Shaquiri. Sanchez wages would be a problem, But His perfromacnce would cover that cost in significant revenues.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 15:19:08
Ed002 has said plenty of times that it would take a significant fee to buy Sanchez. "I guarentee we'll see Sanchez going to juve for less than 30m" is less than 30m significant to Barcelona? I expect it would take more like 45m. They may lower the price if they really want to sell him, but even then we couldn't pay the massive wages. Lallana's fee might be that of a household world class player, but his wages would be 110% less.

Agree0 Disagree0

What makes you think barca would sell sanchez for less than 30m?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 16:26:05
For some reason, I think southampton rejected our latest bid, because they wanted to get a manager in place before they continued any negotiations (which is the reason why shaw or lovren haven't moved on either).

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 17:29:22
Jessie

I don't think Sanchez would be leaving Barca for a very minimal amount. Nor I see Lallana moving out similar fashion. The difference between them won't be drastic IMO. If so, Y not Sanchez?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm with Harry. I want Sanchez at Liverpool but it is to upto me. Juve won't pay the money Barca are asking outright,, they'll either have to sell first or make mish mash bids including players plus cash and all that nonsense. If we are going to fork out such massive fee for Lallana I'd rather us spend the money on Alexis Sanchez slightly younger and a hell of a lot better

Agree0 Disagree0

Although I agree Sanchez is unlikely to leave for £25million or less, I doubt Barcelona would reject a bid of £35million for a player who doesn't regularly start and, I believe Ed01 has mentioned, Messi, who has ridiculous power within the club, doesn't get on with.
I would pay anything up to £40million for Sanchez, easily worth more than Andy Carroll! But seriously I doubt we have the money to spend so much on one player without the sales of a £15m+ player.
However I think if he were going for no more than £30million we would look into a deal as BR wants a little more Champions League experience, proven quality and Sanchez would fit our system like a glove.
Think we will make one 'marquee' signing this summer to ensure we challenge in the League again, I would love it to be Sanchez.
P.S. He will score tonight I think, Chile are a really good team and should be Spain's worst nightmare with pace, heart and high pressing system.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on toddy lad,

Agree0 Disagree0

About chile v Spain I mean

Agree0 Disagree0

If we can't agree terms with Moreno's club for upfront payments; purchasing another more expensive player may also have a higher upfront payment.

You think the club is going to do this?

Don't get my wrong I'd love Sanchez here I just think we're going to be shopping at a different level than that.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2014 08:08:53
In March 2013, Ed002 said that 'Attempts to buy Sanchez in the summer (of 2012) were met by a 40M euro asking price'.

Since then, Sanchez has only got better and is probably, given his age of twenty-five, not yet at his peak.

With some reports suggesting that the actual fee paid by Barca to Udinese in 2011 was around 43M euro and not the 37.5M total fee that was announced by Barca, at the time, I would have thought it unlikely that he will be allowed to leave at a significant loss. Ed002 has also recently suggested that Barca would be willing to sell Sanchez 'for a very significant fee', which suggests a fee of far more than 30M euro or pounds, I would have thought.

I would absolutely love to see Alexis Sanchez at Anfield but it's hard to see, even if Suarez were to leave, I would imagine.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There remains the chance that Barcelona would be willing to offer Sanchez as part of a deal for Suarez. Juventus would like a deal still but don't want to lose Vidal in addition to Pogba. As such, they are making other plans.}

19 Jun 2014 08:09:13
Harry I think the costs of bringing in Sanchez will be a hell of a lot more than Lallana. Not close at all.
The transfer fee will be bigger, as will the wages, the agent fees, plus a whole shed load of other hidden fees.
That's why Ed002 tells you off about money everyday. Lol
However I would rather have Sanchez than Lallana as well, I just don't think it's possible without the sale of Suarez.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2014 13:49:12
Thanks for the reply, Ed002. I thought that I read somewhere that Sanchez had stated that he did not want to move to the Premier League, which presumably would also hinder any move.

Personally, If Luis did decide that he wanted to move this summer, the price was right for the club and Sanchez was available and willing to move to LFC, then I would support the owners if they wanted to cash in.

There are a lots of ifs above but I cannot think of any other player, who is potentially available, that might slot in as well to any void left by Suarez. Both are certainly wonderful players but all round, I actually believe that Sanchez has the potential to become an even better all around player that Luis. One other concern perhaps is that Sanchez appears to have been more injury prone than Suarez, so lots of things to contemplate.

Isn't it great though that we are even in a position to talk about the possibility of such a great player being a realistic transfer target.

Why are people.excited' about the.possible' signing of shaquiri?
He has done nothing at bayern Munich to get game time and his end product is average. This is a player that will looked to be starting week in week out as hes.leaving bayern to get first team football'. Is he better than coutinho or sterling? Definitely not, so why do people want us to sign him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

18 Jun 2014 14:31:28
He did play 11 games for Bayern last season.
Neither Sterling (who might), Nor countinho would make it to Bayern bench considering they play Robben and Ribery on their flanks.
He is a very good player.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you watched him at bayern before guardiola he was quality. heycnes rated him highly. when on form started before robben. I followed bayern that season and he was wonderful player. he isn't suited to guardiola possesion football he is more direct player. and his end product is better than sterlings for example and he is still young. he has all the attributes for premier league. I know a lot of munich fans and they are not happy at all and rate him very highly

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to agree with Harry on this one. Sterling would not be in the starting 11 and yet I think we all agree sterling has been quality. He's a very good player however as people have pointed out his attitude is quite poor.

Agree0 Disagree0

Redtwist, I think Sterlings attitude was poor but give him credit he seems to have changed, so maybe you should have said was poor.

Hi Eds,

I have a general question with regards to scouting.

Scouts are obviously employed by the club to hunt out new and exciting talent.

But what happens if that scout is then poached by another club? Does his knowledge/contacts go with him or is there an intellectual property hurdle to get over?

For example, if I was working for one company researching a new type of painkiller, and I found this amazing new chemical that would be the next big thing, the company I worked for and got paid by would have intellectual property rights over my discovery. And I would not be able to run over to another company and use the same chemical for them instead.

In a similar way, are scouts allowed to take the reports they have on players with them when they move to a new club, or are they property of the club? Do scouts ever have restrictions built into their contracts, things like "you cannot work for another club in the same league for 2 years after leaving us" which are perfectly common in the business world.

Final question, do any scouts work on a freelance basis? In the same way a recruitment company would. The club would approach them and say for example "We are looking for a new GK, between 16-19, do you know of anyone? If we sign someone you recommend we'll pay you."

Cheers in advance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There is no IP related to players a scout has watched. Scouts can easily recreate reports. They do not have unenforceable restrictions in their contracts. Many/most work on a freelance basis.}

I have to say all the rumours coming out about Moreno are odd - the collapse of the deal with Chelsea, the "rumoured" stalling with us, the waning interest from other clubs.

Something, probably monetary but maybe something else just isn't right.

I personally can't see this one happening.

Very proud of our young reds out in Brazil. I don't think England will win the World Cup but for the likes of Henderson, Sterling Sturridge just being in a world cup will be a massive boost to them and will help them kick on again for next season. Also 12 months ago Flanno was surplus to requirements but since then made himself a regular in Liverpools line up and was in the conversation to go to Brazil and made the reserve list, That will do him the world of good being close enough to the World Cup squad will give him belief in himself but missing out will make him determined to be there in 4 years.

A very proud RED.

Hi edds with situation at present regarding players contracts meaning next to nothing I just wonder what would be the effect if contracts had say a three year maximum period. The reason I ask this is the possibility of players who have signed five year contract for enormous salaries being enticed away by mega rich clubs which despite clubs reluctant to sell have to because of player power.maybe transfer fees would be more realistic, if for example a player forced a move half way though is contract should he pay the club in total for the time left to complete his contract iam not sure what can and can't be done but somewhere along the line players contracts should be more binding like to hear other opinions

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Contracts don't mean "next to nothing".}

18 Jun 2014 11:03:01
Its well documented that Liverpool are not exactly financially stable and as Edd002 keeps telling us if we splash the cash we will fall foul of FFP.
How about the club save money by sacking any scouts and the whole transfer board and Brendan just reads this site?
1. He would be listening to true football geniuses who know the players they praise inside and out
2. Save the club money.
Problems solved.

Morning Eds

According to German rag Bild, we are in talks with Bayern for Shaqiri (again). what's your thoughts on this please? Or is it nothing new and talks are just ongoing?

Sorry Ed. No worries. Just quite excited about the thoughts of getting him. i'm going to keep it stum about him now. Or will certainly try.

Just a quick question ed. as you've said we know what we need to do for lallana and Moreno but do you think the club would like to get rid of players like Coates reina and agger and a couple others to free up wages I know they aren't the same position or anything but especially for Moreno I feel like we would pay the fee but just want to regroup some of the money first.

Just think the club don't want to go backwards a couple years and see our wage bill balloon again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - With the club trying to do business early on that seems unlikely - otherwise they would have pushed for sales harder.}

18 Jun 2014 07:58:26

Anyone else think the way the Brazilians sings their anthem is similar to YNWA. the way the music stops and they just refuse to stop singing. pride & passion

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It has appeared to me that nearly every team I have seen so far at the WC shows more pride & passion than the England boys, don't think our national anthem helps though. Uruguay talking about the match being life or death and our boys thinking "death", sod that, I've got a holiday booked end of July.

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree RedSwampy, I think the greatest downfall of englands national team is its attitude and perspective.

First of all, does anybody else know if other countries take part in as many countless tv adverts and world cup songs as we do in england? I think its unprofessional and makes us look a joke when we get beat.

Other countries show so much more pride and enthusiasm than us in every way, even the USA were fanatical, and played like it too! Our players mumble the national anthem, while the brazilians and americans were roaring theirs.

Other countries go out with a professional attitude, watching germany the other day, their goals were nothing special, there is no reason why england couls not be capable of scoring those goals. Other countries get the job done, while the english dither around, make excuses and over analyse.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 12:54:01
Rubbish, RedSwampy.

The Brazilians are the host nation and the "adopted" home of football so obviously that's different to us/anyone else right now.

Every other nation sings just like we do. The England team just can't get a break can they?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 13:23:50
A. Woolback, other nations engage in it even MORE. Neymar is the advertising 'face' of Brazil right now and when you look at all the nike/adidas/pepsi adverts they're predominantly non-English.

As for your point about Germany, they are just a very good side - better than us certainly. And in case you were wondering their national team is working with Nutella this WC doing countless adverts etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, your not going to see anyone singing 'god save our queen' with any passion are you. National anthems are supposed to be about the history of a nation and it's pride. Most other countries have that

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough puzzled, I just sw joe hart on a doritos advert and it made my blood boil, as I couldn't imagine pirlo doing the same.

The general feel I get from the england team is they constantly look like they've been thrown into the lions den, always look nervous and like they can't wait to get off the pitch, whereas other teams present themselves in a way which means they just want to enjoy the football.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2014 17:33:31
As much as I quite like God Save the Queen, I'd love to have an English one for the English team, maybe if Scotland do get independence, we will! Maybe that is part of the problem for our boys?

{Ed001's Note - it comes down to him, the club have yet to make a 100% decision on his future, I am told. It will come down a lot to what he wants, what he says. The likeliest option is a loan, but he might well want to leave, so the club will speak to him before looking for a loan for him.}
