I'm sorry eds, especially after the phenomenal work you have put in but ingrowing really tired of the sabotaging bulls*** that being posted as genuine LFC fans - its as bad as the media tosh from several sources.

I love to hear an objective view, but the uncontrolled volume of pure Bxxxxx is too much to bear - despite the true value responses from the genuine fans,... You know my views on subscription - the site will end up being the victim of its own success unless you control behaviours...

Your call, will always value the eds 001 for creating the concept - but it's time to remodel and create value for you and for your users, the genuine us...

Remember, rehabilitation is a long term path with best value for all,...

Long standing reader and contributor,

Suffolk'n Red

Mate the reality is some fans can't except we are no more a top4 team so they express their anger on fans eds etc etc it will take some time for them to except remember 3 years without champions league its alot for club like liverpool and will take time even this season going to be hard for some fans or eds coz I can't see us finishing in top4 for a while will take few years we are building slowly by slowly where some fans want quick fix which will never happen will be tough especially for rodgers they will boo him at anfield if things starts going wrong in modern football results are main rather than ability this famous words were said. By guardiola when vilas-boas was sacked

Liverpool

100% agree. Or in football terms, I 110% agree!

LIVERPRES

I pleading all the lfc fans to come together now because im tired of the other club supporters thinking they can come to our team and slate everything out team has achieved. Who cares who we get now because this has got personal. It's time for us to remind them why we're known as the best supporters in the world and the most successful English team. Lfc is the most hated on so I guess we're doing something right ahhaah YNWA

I'm going to the 1st game of the year at westbrom coming from America any suggestions on how to get to the stadium from London?

Bostonred {Ed002's Note - It would have to be by train.}

Mate you want the hogwarts express, leaves regulary on platform 9 and 3/4

benny baller {Ed049's Note - haha}

Then from the train stop. Jewellry quarter I think? A bus to the stadium? Any ideas?

Bostonred

Good on you mate. I hope you have a good time and the boys get up!

LIVERPRES

Hi Boston Red - originally from Birmingham UK - in toronto right now - so going to Toronto v LFC at the rogers stadium this Saturday. it depends which airport you are arriving at in London and when/ dates -then I can provide links to give you the best/ cheapest routes. train is good - so are coaches etc.
cheers

R

Hi Eds - happy to give Boston Red my direct email - to help him out from my last email - surely we must show some hospitality!

Go to the West Brom website and find 'How to get here'
ItsNotRocketScience

Not sure if I'm allowed to post links, but trainline.com. Train from London Euston to Birmingham New Street. Change at Birmingham to get a train to West Bromwich. Hope you enjoy your trip.

From New Street station, take the short walk to Snow Hill station and hop on either the train or the Metro (tram). The stadium station (conveniently called The Hawthornsť) is just two stops from Birmingham Snow Hill. Or from Birmingham city center take the 74/78/79 buses straight to the Hawthorns

just checked out youtube to see what this mirallas lad is like. I know u cant judge players by watching 5 min clips on youtube. But from what ive seen this mirallas lad looks like a classy player. I can see the logic if we are considering him. Brendan Rogers will almost certainly be going with a 4-3-3 formation. So with a midfield of GERRARD LUCAS ADAM. SUAREZ and MIRALLAS interchanging while in the hole behind BORINI. I think that is a frightening proposition.(I would love to see gaston ramirez in place of adam but dont think it will happen) The width can be provided by johnson and enrique. Id love to see this mirallas lad. We havent had a player who can play left wing/in the hole with the skills to excite since barnes. Go have a look at the video on youtube im sure you will agree. Replys welcome!

Hi Eds I'm a big big Liverpool supporter writing you from Pakistan for the very first time. It really is very hurtful when I hear news of Chelsea manchester city signing top class players. You know they are just like new expensive born babies. We used to be unplayable but those were our good days. To get those times back we NEED A NEW STADIUM. Injecting millions of pounds on players and Anfield will also take us to the 5th or maybe 4th spot to the max. Manchester United generates so many top players and talent by ticketing each year. it's called pressure which is increasing on Lfc every year. It's a decline unless we get Stanley Park with at least 65000 capacity. But it looks like it will always be a dream. {Ed002's Note - I would guess that in three years Anfield will be refurbed with plenty more seats - something to look forward to.}

Way forward my friend from being born in the UK with parents from India but love LFC is to ground share with Everton - yes most will disagree but we must help our neighbours! makes sense - Liverpool is not just us but Everton and both teams will progress - if everton goes down or liverpool what happens to our revenses aka rangers? similarly India v Pak cricket matches no fun if we don't play!

cheers

R

Do you have any mates out there in Pakistan who are billionaires with an infinite amount of money? If so apply here!

Sorry, my fat fingers pressed post!!

If BR is going to be successful in implementing his formation and style of play, I'd say we need to invest in more pace out wide, something we've lacked for a few years. Whilst I'm not suggesting we sign Usain Bolt, I'm nit sure Dempsey is the answer either.

Anyway, let's hope we sign some wingers, or whatever they're called these days!!

Cheers,

Raoul

Mate, I thought Rogers' style meant the wingbacks got to the by-line to whip crosses in and the two attackers behind the target man were meant to burst into the penalty area and shoot or pass. To me, I think that would take more of a tricky player who can make intelligent runs and can shoot well - like Suarez - not so much dependent on speed.

I may be wrong but that is my take on it.

Just watched Joe Coles video diary off the tour and he is speaking very highly off the youngsters over there. Hope a few get a few breaks this season with the europa and carling cup to bed them in.

I want a sheik to buy Liverpool and treat like his FIFA team.

And where do you find pride in that? Surely sustained success built on successful planning and execution is the way to go?

Earlier post :
"We've become a joke from 2009 onwards so much promise, expense and nothing but underachievement and bad signings when we actually had the money to spend big. even now we're linked with dempsey and allen while other clubs move upwards. coincidently, this dark period has coincided with the rise of lucas leiva ".

This has to be post of the day - The Dark Lord Lucas !! Fantastic - Who makes this stuff up ?
or should it be Lord Lucan ?? He disappeared after 12 games ..
I'm sure Skrtel could feature alongside the dark lord as a scary henchman. Come to think of it Borini looks a bit vampirish and Big Brendan's smile is a bit eerie, John Henry in a cape with a big collar anyone ?? Maybe the original poster is on to something ? Will Lucas wear no.6 next season playing in zone 6 and wearing size 6s ??
Scary stuff.
Red Derry :-)

Only team that has spent money to improve their squad is Chelsea, United haven't, the Arsenal players bought are untried in PL and they may be losing RVP, Tottenham may be losing Modric and haven't bought quality. City haven't bought yet.
Stop being so damn negative.

18 Jul 2012 22:51:13
Any chance of Makepeace if we get Dempsey ?

18 Jul 2012 22:47:02
Hi eds do you think liverpool will re-invest money from carroll and suarez sales if they do go on building a great team, i know we have great youngsters coming through so i dont think we need many players but i guess after last year they will be looking at players a lot closer rather than blowing all that money on poor signings again? KHENDERSNO {Ed001's Note - money from sales will be invested into the club.}

18 Jul 2012 22:45:34
Sigurdson scored on his spurs debut. STEMLOCC1

So now we are going to be kept up to date on players we didnt sign as well as those who have left. Great. Or we could let them go and move on? Nope, stupid idea, sorry.

Andy K

It's a friendly against Stevenage, get a grip.

18 Jul 2012 22:42:08
Not a rumour, with Maxi gone with 1 year still on his contract does anyone know whether we released him or we got a transfer fee, if so how much was it, cheers

Wilsoj

Heavens, we really are scratching for pennies now.

18 Jul 2012 22:39:56
Hi eds do ypu think after the transfer window closes that all these so called liverpool fans can finally be happy and see light at the end of the tunnel for us moving forward, i think carroll and suarez need to go but good replacements are required! ajh 316 {Ed001's Note - I doubt if most of them will ever be happy, if we win 3-0, they will say we should have scored 4!}

18 Jul 2012 22:28:58
Eds quick question re Dempsey

Do you not think its unusual for Rodgers to openly admit we have been talking to Fulham? I know its not from a footballing sense but things seem to have gone back to the 'liverpool way' and they wouldn't normally comment on media speculation.

I would have thought they have released this purely on the basis that somebody at Fenway dropped the ball by putting that story up and the club are just tidying up the mess, etc...

Either that or they are much closer to agreeing a deal.

Apart from either of those reasons I can't really see why they would release that information.

Cheers

Wassa {Ed001's Note - it was a huge mistake, I just wonder what has happened to our new communications director? Surely he should be doing some communicating, an apology, or simply washing the club's hands of involvement in the appearance of it on the site is surely in order here? Fulham would be perfectly within their rights to tell us where to go after that, certainly add on a few quid or a clause!}

18 Jul 2012 22:28:39
Hi Eds & Reds,

The amount of trolling and general disrepect shown to Eds and genuine posters by trolls is making me think about taking a break from posting until it dies down.

R_R {Ed001's Note - then the trolls win mate.}

Ed's right - the only way to fight negativity is with positivity. Stop commenting on the trolls' posts and keep writing the good stuff. They'll f*** off back to the United site soon enough.

18 Jul 2012 22:28:15
Just a point worth a thought.......

One set of stats is a player who we are linked with (Dempsey) in a relatively struggling team..........

League games Played 157
League Goals scored 50

The other is a England international who has played in a successful London team (Fat Frank).....

League games played 150
league goals scored 65

Both are taken form 2007 onwards, maybe BR has an eye for players after all??......TMac

18 Jul 2012 22:26:52
any word on walcot? {Ed001's Note - yes, he is a sprinter who wears football boots.}

18 Jul 2012 22:24:37
Fans seem to be divided on weather AC should be kept or sold. Personally i think he has had the worst 18 months he will ever have in his footballing career and can only see him improving from now on, lets hope BR can get him playing his way. As far as the other singings go its obvious we are going to get Allan and Dempsey its just a case of when not if. Rodgers said he wanted 4 players so does the EDs know who the other signing will be or what position we are looking to strengthen.

thanks red lobster {Ed001's Note - judging by the players we have been scouting over the last season, I would suggest a right back seems possible. Though, personally, I would think another left back or right sided attacker would be more needed.}

18 Jul 2012 22:23:21

18 Jul 2012 22:22:58
hey red and eds ed do you think aqua man will play for liverpool this season or will he be loaned ?? {Ed001's Note - I don't think anyone really wants him to be honest. I think we will have him for the season.}

This is part of the reason I cringe every time I read "In Rafa we trust".

Isn't this tiki taki football a load of nonsense....rather have a chicken tikka masala with naan bread meself.... Now where's that take away menu!?

Kat

This tika taka football is this the same football we played since being taught a lesson by red star in the 70s its a new name for pass and move so annoying all this lets play the swansea way we led the way for english football for 20 years then some average team called wimbeldon set it back now its the swansea way been there doing it mayhem 1981

Who ticked disagree to that the lad was obviously having a laugh! I for one like the odd lighthearted comment on the banter page.

Mike S

Eds, can you ban any posts with that phrase? It's just pass and move, something we've been Synonymous with for years!

Cheers,

Raoul {Ed002's Note - It keeps people happy so you will have to suck it up.}

I must admit I don't like the name though it sounds silly!

And i'd rather have a joke that isn't 100 years old

Big Dan {Ed049's Note - true}

The phrase reminds me of that Beckham joke where he stands up in front of an audience and says "They're small, round and minty". A whisper comes from the side of the stage "You're supposed to be talking TACTICS, David"

Apparently arsenad a 25m bid from chelsea for walcott. I cant decide which of thesetwo cubs are more stupid

If Arsenal got a £25 million bid for Walcott - they'd snap their bloody hands off.

John B {Ed001's Note - not sure you needed the million in there......}

Why are the Gunners stupid? didn't they accept the bid of 25m?

My sort of answer Ed001 - brought a little smile - thanks, I was on autopilot and the million thing was a misprint.

John B

The most annoying thing about this site is when you get the compete idiots posting a load of sh*t then when the eds or anyone says one argument back they never reply.. Atleast come up with some argument to your stupid theories

So just ignore it then.

Not strictly Liverpool related, and this must sound weird but are Malaga in financial trouble, I know they are meant to be mega rich, but 35-40% of wages have not been paid, any insights eds

Cheers

Big red g {Ed001's Note - they are not mega rich, they had a minor sheikh buy them, but he bought them to get the council on side for some building plan he had in mind, rather than any desire to get involved with the team. If I remember rightly, he wanted to build a marina, the best way to get local people onside was the football club. I would guess he has simply not bothered pumping in funds after an initial investment.}

I thought that qatar investments bought them. 32billion company.

18 Jul 2012 19:34:18
eds, do you have any idea if Stewart Downing and Henderson will play a part in Liverpools campaign next season? What formation do you also think we'll play, as we cant play a similar formation to that of Swansea when they played with two wingers, as we seemingly have none. Would Borini be a starter for next season do you think? {Ed001's Note - Swansea didn't really play with wingers, they played with 3 forwards, neither of their 'widemen' played as wingers. I expect us to play a very similar formation to Swansea's.}

Downing can actually play as one of a central three, not that I'd want him as first choice there, though. He probably won't nail down any one place as his own, but he'll get a good quantity of games between the middle three and front three.

- Something Red -

Agree ed. inside forward's with maybe one of them reverting to wingers depending on the situation.
derryred

Only problem with Downing, good old fashioned type of winger but he couldn't hit a cows ass with a banjo? So can't see how he would fit in. Every player has to have an eye for goal or it doesn't work.
Suarez,Borini,Dempsey
Suarez,Morgan,Dempsey
Sterling,Morgan,Dempsey
Sterling,Borini,Suarez
Think these players will probably be our 3 from 5 select.
If you don't have an eye for goal and good technical ability you don't fit.

Hai ed great site and fantastic work...
No transfers and no names this time Ed..
Its been a long long wait for us the fans to see the glory days of liverpool..
I would like to get some good honest opinions and suggestions from you.
1. Are you perticulary happy with BR being appointed.
2. what are your thoughts on the coming season?
3.If you were given the green light to purchase some reasonable players whom would you want and y?..
4. are you happy with the transfers, names so far?

Need a honest opinion from you.
we sit a bit far from Liverpool but our heart remains there..always had one dream to see us ruling the world in football.
people says we dont buy, we dont have resources, we dont play well, we talk about history.
no one says..about us..the liverpool fans worldwide...
I have been loving this club since i know myself...never wanted to change it and never ever I ll do it...
there are things which comes to you by nature..

we are not chelsea, neitehr we are city or UTD...
because we stand tall and support our club in all the cause no matter what happens.

Expecting your reply
YOU WILL NEVER WALK ALONE...
{Ed001's Note - 1. well he wasn't my choice, but he has acquitted himself well in interviews and seems to have impressed the players. So far I would say I am optimistic he will be a good choice.
2. I just want to see an improvement in our league form and I fully expect there to be one. Hopefully added to getting to watch good football being played as well. I can't see us being anywhere near challenging for the title, but we should be able to push into the fight for 4th.
3. I would, if it was me, try and bring Xabi back, Dempsey I would bring in and Matty Phillips. Other than that, I would bring up Suso and Sterling and give them a go.
4. I have not seen much of Borini, a few games while he was at Chelsea and that's it, so I have no real knowledge of how good he is or not. I do rate Dempsey highly though, he is an excellent player.}

Ed just out of interest who was your choice for manager? {Ed001's Note - Marcelo Bielsa would have been my first choice, failing that I actually quite liked the idea of Laudrup oddly enough, from outside the club. But, with Bielsa not speaking English, I would have asked Rodolfo Borrell if he was interested in the job. If he was, then I would have handed it to him.}

There you are Ed001.
Ed I watched all the spanish U19 games at their Euros and I think Suso will have to wait this year. I wouldn't mind seeing him as a sub in the Carling cup and maybe on the bench for 5-6 league games but he's not quite there yet IMO. Could be great but physically not ready yet. If he got 3 or 4 cameos in the league that would be enough till the back end of the season anyway.
we need minimum 20 wins and 11-12 draws to get top 4 this year. Think its going to be an interesting year but a god Europa run and good cup run with a fighting chance for a top 4 are my expectations. One thing Ed, with Chelsea seemingly in for another 100M summer how will this impact FFP rules or do they have this season to go nuts and aggregate it out over the next 2 seasons or are they being reckless in your opinion?

Chi-Paul {Ed001's Note - I am sorry but I disagree completely, Suso is clearly ready and in desperate need of regular first team football. He may not be a big tall powerhouse, but he is perfectly capable of standing up for himself and putting in a foot in when needed. More importantly, he has great vision and has a fantastic range of passing. I don't know if the FFP rules will ever really be able to be enforced fully, to be honest. It is only an attempt to keep the big clubs big and not allow the smaller clubs to ever reach their level anyway.}

Am I reading Sly right in that Nathaniel Clyne contract expired. Why oh why did we not look at him. Real potential. Real good signing for Southampton, btw really hope they stay up next year.

We have about 4 right backs who are better than him.

He is a full back. will he replace Johnson, Enrique, Kelly, Flanagan or Robinson ?

18 Jul 2012 21:41:57
We have sold Kuyt and let Maxi go so that should cut the wage bill. Is there money or do we have to sell? If so it could be a long summer as BR has his work cut out. We will probably loan out 1 r 2 of these Spearing Wilson Flanagan Shevely. We are overloaded with CM players Gerrard Lucas Henderson
Out
Aqua Man
Adam
In
Allen
Winger x 1 Downing
Forwards Suarez Borni cole? Big Andy? and bells? Dempsey?
To me we need a left full as cover, two more attackers and wide players x 2
This would give us a better balance to the squad.

18 Jul 2012 21:38:49

Eds once read a article about how in any big business transaction, there is always a Exit strategy. What do you think FSG want out of owning LFC.

Is it simply the Premiership revenue, with the thought process that when they sell they will get their money back that they spent on buying the club.

Or is there a genuine will to take us back to the top.

The reason I ask, is they are advertising us in the US as the team who was one game away from winning the FA Cup... And for the first time I thought they really do not get it....

I know they have pumped in millions to get rid of debt etc etc, but surely coming into it they would have realised that the team needed 100m + spent on it to garantee our return to the top table.

Not winging but if we knew their true expectations and goals, then we can readjust ours.

Just a thought....

Redphil {Ed002's Note - FSG want Liverpool to be a success - it will help them in making future investments.}

They invested over £100M on players from Jan 2011 to August 2011, has'nt that earned them a little patience from the fans?

They obviously know what their doing. they could hardly advertise that we won the FA cup could they. they had success with the red sox and so far have had reasonable success with liverpool (keeping in mind the state of the club on and off the pitch when they first bought it). They took us from certain administration and relegation contendors to winning the carling cup, an FA cup final, a european spot and huge steps towards financial security but we all still have a long way to go so don't question them and support them just as they supported LFC financially.
derryred

No they didn't invest £100 mill, they invested apprx £30 mill net.

Ozone

You mean to say
Torres= 50 million
Meireles= 11 million
Ryan babel=6 milliom
Ngong. =4 million
Total=71 million
Wow love John w henry

Red kop

Sorry Ed2, and I'm glad you answered as you seem to give more reasoned answers, but what would they define as success. Top 4, Champions, European Champions. Because for me I love my club, and I truley believe we are as big as any of the Euro big guns.
But even if success is top 4, well there is alot of money in the current top 5. And just think we are only a few QUALITY signing's away. I know money does't guarantee success, but it goes a hell of a way towards it. and every season we are out of the CL the further away we get to it.
The title will be contested by Chelsea and Man City next season, spot the common thing they have. I don't expect LFC to pay those figure's. But if is success is 'one game away from winning the FA Cup then we all need to re evaluaate what we define as success

Redphil {Ed002's Note - Success will start to come with being back in the champions league not just with the additional revenue from the competition but with the additional sponsorship opportunities. A significant building block.}

Offset by 50m on Torres, 8m on Babel, 10m on Merelies (spelling). so 32m

I'm patient but and not shouting from the roof tops to spend stupid money, but is 32m spend really that ambitious.

Just want a view on what their ambitions are.

Redphil

They've invested roughly £400M in LFC, not £30M.

£300M in the initial acquisition, as I recall with ~£200M of it being for acquisition debt, ~£50M for trade creditors/taxes and the like, and the other ~£50M as working capital. Then, the club sustained ~£100M in losses over the last two years of their ownership, so £300M + £100M = £400M.

Until such time as the huge losses turn into either smaller losses or preferably net revenue, what in the world do you expect from them? They're already eating a fair amount every year- apparently that's not good enough for the likes of many on here and they should in addition fund player purchases well in excess of what the club can sustain because they're just nice guys and love to spend money or something.

So, yes, in terms of player transfers fees maybe only a net of £30M, but there are many other things weighing down the club right now outside of this, so please quit saying they've only invested £30M in the club.

Hi eds,
does anyone know what happen to a DOF or such been appointed. Before BR was appointed all the talk was that he would be working with a DOF and/or group of technical director ect.

Also has the been any updates with regards a new stadium or upgrade of anfield?

Thanks

18 Jul 2012 21:00:36
borini allen and dempsey, decent enough signings but will they really bring us back to the top of english football ,i am not so sure. no doubt in borini and allens case that both will improve and dempsey scores goals from midfield

i am aware that we cannot financially compete with the likes of chelsea and city or even united but i think we llneed better signings than this to get the fans really excited at the start of the new managers tenure. 1 or 2 top class flair players to excite us and give us some belief that the owners actually want to get us back to the top again. even just one signing of the level of suarez would be a great improvement and provide us with options should the worst happen and luis gets injured. people say we are not a one team but we are very devoid of creativity if luis isnt in the starting 11

this should be a cause for concern for mr rodgers. if i was the manager of any other side in the epl and faced a liverpool side without suarez in it i d be thinking these guys are very ordinary i can get a result against these guys. and i m hoping that we will still see a semi marquee signing , a matchwinner because i believe without him
we are in short supply

tom1975

I thought the same when we played a lesser team last year. They were called Swansea. No superstar just a work ethic and style of football that kept the ball, along with every player putting in a shift. That'll do for me this year. Keep your lazy ass stars.

Lazy arse stars??

suarez is hardly a lazy arse

stars with a good team ethic but with skills to match their ethics

tom1975

I agree swansea played us off the park and i ll be absolutely delighted if a team without any stars can do the same in red shirts under rodgers,however there will be a lot of unhappy impatient fans if results dont gohis way at the start

actually swansea were the only team to play us off the park

but i stillsay we are lacking in some finalthird creatvity and fear a little for the side if luis does in fact get injured

tom1975

Tom - what is a semi - marquee signing? Personally, I would prefer players that would give everything for the red jersey. Rodgers is very good at football management and he will improve the team this season.

Red Machine

That team Swansea with no superstars finished mid table... So what's your point, Dempsey allen and borini was not the summer I was hoping for...

My point is i feel we are utterly devoid of creativity if luis gets injured and we will be a very midtable team like swansea without some skilfull attacking players added

Is that a problem with the signings or your expectations? Maybe hope for a good season and dont be too worried about the off season.

Andy K

I agreewith the poster swansea did actually finish midtable and struggled for goals all season, not at the top of the table. my point is that without suarez we have little creativity up front and should he get injured we will also be finishing in midtable

tom1975

No harm but a big money signing isn't exactly guarinteed to improve us, remember man city bought robinho. we have some players who would be good enough to grace a title winning side. reina, johnson, agger, skertl, enrique, lucas, gerrard, suarez. in a few years hendo, kelly, coates, robinson, sterling, borini, carroll and suso could join that list so be patient, i would rather BR has a season of assesing where the squad needs improvements scouting potential candidates who can play his way to a liverpool standard in that position before he spends lots of money on a "marquee" signing.
derryred

Dempsey, Borini and Allen, coupled with the way Rodgers wants to play including work ethic and ball retention will take us to the next level. We played some great stuff last year and if we can build on that, improve the work rate and chip in with the goals we lacked last year and we will certainly be competing for top 4 finish.

I posted yesterday asking why everyone was taking as gospel the rubbish reported about Andy Carroll by Sly Sports and the gutter press. Wait until you hear the facts from the man himself BR! Carroll won't be going on loan, he will be given a chance to prove his worth but like every player at LFC he has his price and a big enough offer would be considered. We have got a top manager in place, have a little faith.

they re spending some moneyto gain ground on city

I agree their bidding on anything that isnt nailed down , bet john terry is excited at all the new wags coming into the club !

They seem to be just spending money for fun, i am a little envious of their spending power

tom1975

Money doesn't buy you love, but a free flag does

It's called ambition you should try it sometime. Chelsea4life

They need to buy they have an ageing team, don't worry about Chelsea just worry about Liverpool.

I wouldn't worry, they are a team of wingers! Why on earth do they still after Moses? They will have to play a 3-6-1 formation to keep all their stars happy!

I hear they also looking to buy a bulk load of slim fast for fat frank

Ah well. considering a midfield with carrick and fletcher in it can win a title then players don't matter as much as the style they play. chelsea is too defensive to win a title. besides they're all muppets so they should fit in well at chelsea.
derryred

Are you joking me you spent over 100 million in just over a year. How much financial backing do you want?

If you can't beat 'em, out buy 'em. Fantastic strategy if you happen to be a bazillionaire, but admittedly a bit annoying when your team isn't owned by one.

Chelsea are the football equivalent of Paris Hilton

cozinoz

Ambition? I'd say it's more about a billionaires dented ego. Every club has ambitions and dreams you muppet, but can't buy it like chelsea. I for one would never trade our clubs tradition and successes that were built on inspiring, philosophical ideas of football, for the riches of an oil magnets hobby. Be proud.

Ambition? is that the tradename for crude oil? cos Abramovic certainly has plenty of it...

Ambition? Haha your having a laugh.

Hey eds I just heard newcastle are to offer 17 million and demba ba to Liverpool for andy Carroll with the fee rising to twenty if he scores so many goals next season

That is a very good deal. But I can't see it.

Feel a bit down in the dumps as a fan with all this speculation, for some reason signing Allen, Dempsey and a wide player and keeping Carroll, seems quite exciting, but signing these players an selling Carroll does not give me much optimism. I wish the window was shut already

I agree ,i think the owners need to spend big on a creative attacking player in the suarez mould to give us fans reasons for optimism

if we signed allen borini and gaston ramirez then icould get a little excited

splash 20 millionon someone that can beat his man, score self created goals,and plays the game with his head up seeing whats on and ill get excited

i ve no doubt allen and borini will prove good buys in the long term but neither excite me for the current campaign. both seem to me to be options to longer term success which is great. however rodgers needs short term success also or the daggers will be out very early in his tenure. im all for looking long term but this shouldn t have to sacrifice the short terms goals and champions league qualification next year

tom1975

And what do you actually know about ramirez ? and youtube clips don't count. it's staggering how many people jump on the band wagon

Tom mate signing a player in the suarez mould is easier said than done. besides it could also have a negative effect as then suarez may have less freedom, i'm sure BR knows what he is doing. the targets you named does sound exciting though but that doesn't mean they will be a success.

Im in a state of confusion by the andy Carroll situation. If you can, could you tell why he is being let go?
Personally I want him to stay and have a real good go next year.

Because the type of football what Rodgers wants to play, Carroll isn't able to do to put it plainly.
He likes quick, mobile players that press and press until they recover the ball as quick as possible and he certainly isn't that type of player. He will be a very good player in a team that will play to his strengths and attributes but that team isn't going to be Liverpool.
We need to just try and sell him and get as much as we can while his stock is still half decent.

Yeah but if keeping him means we spend the season hoofing long ball up the pitch then i'd rather he left. however if he can fit the system and give his all for the team (which i have no doubt he will) then he is welcome to stay.
derryred

To the post above, I'm sorry mate but I disagree, nobody worked harder than andy in the second half of last season, his battling back, his aerial prowess at corners in both boxes, to say he can't play to a certain way is basically saying he is one dimensional but I actually believe he's better on the floor than he is in the air, I think it's a massive mistake by the club to get rid so early in his career when he's only been here 18 months, remember Lucas, now Lucas is settled into the area he is one of if not the first name on the team sheet when fit, I honestly believe andy has the potential to be a star and will be gutted if he goes

He just doesnt fit the style that BR wants. Im not sure why people are having a hard time seeing this. He is a typical old fashioned CF and doesnt have the skill to play as BR wants.

Everyone who think BR interview clears up the AC situ, well fulham say they have no interest in selling Dempsey, and well I guarantee he is gone by the end of the summer.

I like Carrol but 35m plan B is just plain stupid. 20m sale means that we got 35 million for Torres, which is about right, so not a total lost eh...

I agree. Fulham is angling for more money. They know he's as good as gone.

Dempsey will sign, its just a bit of haggling required

I don't get it how in under god does it mean we got 35 million from Torres ?

10 mil + Dempsey for Carroll. Id be selling that to Fulham.

18 Jul 2012 20:10:20
Brendan Rodgers on Andy Carroll: "There has been a lot written and spoken about him but first and foremost Andy is a Liverpool player.

"To consider a loan period for someone the club spent £35million on isn't something we're looking to do at this moment in time.

"Andy will be the same as every other player - if there's ever an offer that comes in we'd look at it as a club and see if it's going to be worthwhile for the club and the team as a whole.

"The club invested £35million in him. People talk about whether he can fit into my style or not, but if you're a club and you spend £35million on a player you'd like to think he can fit into whatever style the team plays.

"He's a good player. He'll join the rest of the group next week and we'll take it from there."

I hope he stays, what do you make of this Ed's?

None of that statement gives a vote of confidence for Andy - BR is being a bit ambiguous - imagine he used those same words to describe rumours about Gerrard - we'd be up in arms. I don't see AC staying unfortunately

Dempsey will sign in next 48hrs quality signing same level as kuyt but more goals in him .ynwa

Dempsey is a lot better than dirk, loved dirk for effort and commitment,but his other attributes left a lot to be desired.

If people want a plan B what is the point of having one on 80k a week and who could get us 20m to spend? We could just get Crouch again for that!

I doubt carroll is on 80K a game. ed01 said it is less than what we think. i guess people's thinking is based on what bbc or sky said.
derryred {Ed001's Note - Suarez is our highest earner of the players signed while FSG owned us, he is on less than 80k a week. That alone should tell people that the 80k stuff is a lie. It is just the excuse Newcastle fans were being told for Carroll being pushed out the door, the club were telling them he wanted to go for more money. It made it easier on Ashley than saying he wanted 35m! You can't blame the guy, he was just starting to win over the fans, last thing he needed was them to turn on him just then. So you let it be known he left for more money, rather than admit you kicked him out the door for the money!}

I agree Dempsey is a better player, though you can't not love The Diggler

18 Jul 2012 20:08:06
A year ago it was "carroll's s*&t" "waste of 35 million" "get rid" "can't believe we spent so much on this donkey"

A year on it's "why is rodgers selling carroll" "FSG don't have a clue" "FSG and rodgers out" "cant believe we want to sell carroll"

I would pretty much guarantee that a good percentage of these were posted by the same persons who just like to moan no matter what the situation is at the club.

I would be curious to see if all this aggression towards FSG and Rodgers would have happened if carrol hadn't finished the season on a little bit of form, what will you be saying if he starts next season the way he started this one? personally im not really fussed if he stays or goes, and why is that? BECAUSE I'M NOT A FOOTBALL COACH, Brendan rodgers is and if he decides that carroll is needed then fine if he isn't then fair enough i wish him well and we move on. Do we not always say "no player is bigger than the club" then why such an outcry over getting rid of a player who has been very average so far lets face it people its not like we're trying to get rid of a messi or ronaldo here. Everyone saying he's gonna be great, how do they know? nothing is certain in football, what if he stays and has another season like last year, the same people will then be on here moaning and saying "why did FSG not sell him" and his worth will have dropped if he has another bad season. Like i say if he stays i'll be behind him if he goes then fine i'll still have a whole squad of players to get behind

He was out through injury for ages, came back to form, maybe thats why fans want to give him a chance you person

Gazman

You're missing the poit Gazman, we paid 35million on a player that took just under 18months to come into form.
I too am not bothered if he stays or goes, I back the team and have respect for he owners. After all thy did bail us out big time!

Red Raw

He was out through injury the season before last when we signed him in january, he was fit all last season or the majority of it anyway and if the one thing you can pick out of that post is my one typing error then im happy and by the way if you bother to read the post i wasn't getting on at carroll i said i didn't mind if he stayed i was getting on at the hypocrites who moaned when he was playing bad and are now moaning that we might be selling him so at least make sure you understand the post before you bother to flap your gums next time you person

I'm afraid it's nothing like the abuse that will come about if/when the other more controversial striker were to move on.

It took lucas two maybe three years to settle and i bet every poster above wanted him gone but look at him wat im saying we bought potencial it was a massive move for him hes had to get fit not newcastle fit but liv fit and just when he starts to settle and is looking un playable thats why he should stay top three carrol in the middle of luis and borrini that would work for me

I agree with the top poster. BR has spent 20 years studying coaching and a good few years of that time studying the type of football he wants to implement. i am sure he will know as well as anyone if carroll can fit the system. for those of you who disagree with rodgers go get your own coaching badge and do as well as he has with a newly promoted team.

BR do not have the money. Lfc have to sell, and then they can buy. I don't know why fsg got envolt in this big boys game if they don't have the money. Lfc have expectation we need to comped with likes of Man u, chealsea, spurs,arsenals.if they don't wone spend money they shuld have bought championship site. And well done luiz for speaking up.

You are just ridiculous..i hope u were alive when FSG pumped almost 120 mill on caroll, downing, henderson and adam..who were purchased by KK..and became Utter s***..was that FSG fault..common mate get a grip..FSG is not like city or chelsea who are reasy to spend 500 mill for one CL and EPL....they are good owners..we mis used their money buying s***s....dont blame them if we dont buy cavani for 50 mill...mate..look at spurs and arsenal..they are buying better than us...we made s*** out of their money and still wants another 100mill??..there are no printing press in US to print the money.......

we were about to go into administration. If you don't feel the club is spending enough, by all means dig deep and buy it off them! Thank god you can't afford it though...
The club has to spend firstly with dealing with bad debt...they wrote off 50 million in the financial year. Until we get the finances in order...there will be no big spending. I really don't understand how some of the posters on here can't grasp that fact.
What you want is a sugar daddy, not a well run club! Everyday I read these stupid comments and I decide to ignore them... Well I have changed my mind. I am going to find the most ridiculous, person comment each day and reply

HI all.
IT' disappointing what happened today regarding the NESN blunder. Liverpool F.C. are probably totally innocent in this "misunderstanding" ,however I feel the club will come under scrutiny again. The Media will be loving it surmising this and that and creating their usual cock and bull stories of why it happened and Liverpool's handling of the situation, so on and so on.
It may seem trivial to some people and just a matter of cross wires, But it's negativity again and I'M pissed off about negative situations surrounding our club.
This situation should have never arisen, no excuse at all. The club should come out and deny their involvement if this is the case. and make it clear to Fulham as well. Who clearly are not happy about the announcement.
The Andy Carol situation is diabolical. If Liverpool's treatment of Andy carol has been fair from the outset and Liverpool F.C. should let the Fans know and stop the bull s*** stories from circulating.
I don't believe the rumours that suggest AC will not suit BR's system. IMO, there's more to it and the Fans should know the truth it creates bad feelings, when fans think a player is being treated unfairly.
The only time our voice are truly heard is when we roar and sing at the MATCH!. We pay for the privilege to support our club not just in attending the games and buying merchandise, but through the bad times, losing games, finals, bad publicity, so on and so on. We have feelings for our club and let the club dominate our lives at times and with some fans all of the time. IT' really is a way of life.
I am not moaning about transfers and building a new stadium. I don't just want our club to be successful i want it to be admired and respected.

Anyway I don't see Dempsey arriving now and never did to be honest. Allen is a possibility, but not certain. The agent was quoting a minimum of 15m. I don't FSG paying that for Allen. Regarding AC I think FSG are right not to sell him to anyone on the cheap particularly Newcastle ( cheeky b******s). I would like him to be given until Jan 2013 at least to prove himself to BR.
Sorry for the Rant, it's just I care about our club.
JP

Fsg have been less than impressive for me since taking over. But beggars can't be choosers. No new stadium - no real squad Investment and a series of media blunders this summer has got me wondering.

Gazman

No harm but it isn't FSG's fault that suarez was convicted of racism. it isn't liverpool's fault that carroll is getting linked with other teams and if liverpool made a statement then it would add fuel to the fire. BR said he had a chat with carroll and that he knows where he stands, if you ask me that isn't bad treatment. Gazman, to say there hasn't been real squad investment is an absolute joke, can you not remember the window in which we bought suarez and carroll, and along with that the one in which we bought adam, hendo,enrique, doni and downing ? you should think before you type mate.

I remember the days when I would search though and across the internet for any piece of information (particularly during transfer windows) regarding LFC. I remember the frustration of seeing the same rumours and stories on every site! The same with the tabloids and whatever tales they want to spin to us.

Then, just before the end of the 09/10 season...I discovered this site.
I'm pretty certain I had come across it before then, however it was at that time that I decided to have a good old look.

I admit, at first I was sceptical (mainly due to seeing ridiculous rumours) but I stuck with it.

Anyway, over time a poster came up by the name of Macca. This poster was different though. He actually had ACCURATE information! To the point where the eds gave him his own section on the site!

In addition to Macca I also started to notice the outstanding knowledge, contacts and vital information that the eds possessed and were willing to share!

My point is, this site is unique! Out of all the sites and media information services out there, this is the one and only one I trust when it comes to my football club! Hell, when it comes to ANY football club tbh!

So I plead with whoever is abusing, disrespecting, insulting the eds and Macca...JUST PLEASE STOP!

If this site disappears, we have NOTHING!
No honesty, no inside info, no explanations of the ins and outs of the football world....NOTHING!

Hi eds, just wanted to make an observation. I keep seein posts from people saying we shouldn't be going for players like Dempsey and Allen because tey've only had one good season in the prem. but then these same people main that we aren't signing people like afellay and de Jong and Ramirez, even those these guys are COMPLETELY unproven in the premier league. It just stinks of double standards.

Exactly is ramirez really that much better than say borini for example to accommodate double the fee when borini has experience of top level english football (albeit 6 games worth). he also played for a team that finished much higher than ramirez', who could have only stood out at bologna. maybe ramirez wants huge wages or maybe he fancies another club o liverpool. all aspects must be considered and a very good post BTW

people need to understand if, and its a big if, Dempsey, Walcott and Allen do sign this does not mean Big Andy will be going so do not try and second guess things. BR will be giving him a chance and want to see first hand how he plays. Kuyt and Maxi have gone so far meaning Borini and Walcott would be perfect replacements. Our biggest problem last season was strength in depth at times, meaning Hendo had to play all season with injuries to Stevie, Lucas and Adam at different intervals. All I am saying is Allen could replace Spearo if he is loaned out or wants first team football and Dempsey would be welcome cover for our strikers and attacking midfielders.

just a little something for the pople who don't think dempsey is good enough he scored 23 goals in 46 appearences last year, thats 2 more than both suarez and carroll combined, and he is a midfielder........

Big Dan

Dempsey will do a job for us I suppose, but please lets not pay over the odds for him like we usually do. At 29 years of age and with a year left on his contract we hold the upper hand in negotiations. If Fulham don't accept between £4-6 million tops, then let them lose him for nothing next season.

Anything above this and we are being robbed...again.

David

Not if we make Champions league? and Dempsey plays a big part in our season?
We have to look at it positively if we are too succeeed.

He is going to replace kuyt and in my view he is a better player than kuyt therefor im all for dempsey.

and if we look at the carroll situation like this. sell downing instead he is 27 and right now is the only time we'd have of making decent money back for him, carroll is what 23...and can only improve.

keep him for another season and let his valuation go up to £20m then sell him if he isn't the type of player Rodgers wants. with Aquilani back the set-pieces will be 100% better (we must have wasted 90% of our corners and free kicks last season)....whats up with that?

sell spearing and get in Allen or develop suso and trust in his ability.

and with maxi and bellamy also leaving another striker/wide man would be needed and someone who would be looking to progress onto the big stage is Kevin Mirallas who at 24 and with a price tag of around £10m - £12m would be worth it, he is used to finding the back of the net, he has skill, technique, pace and most of all adaptability (he can virtually play anywhere up front cf, ss, lwf, rfw, lw, rw.

in
Borini £11m
dempsey £8m
mirallas £12m
suso - promotion
£31m

out
downing 10m
bellamy 2m
spearing 3m
kuyt 1m
= £16m

net total = 15m

The Daily Express says Chelsea were said to have made a £25million bid for the Gunners star but had their offer rejected by Arsenal.

There had been interest from both Liverpool and Chelsea but after the Blues offer was rejected it is unsure as to whether they will increase.

Last night, Walcott's agent said that he did not believe Chelsea would make a higher offer and that he was no longer in negotiations with them.
.......................................................
Sorry for the copy and paste Ed, but I just got this from tribalfootball.com. I must say Theo Walcott for £12-15million is worth it, but £25million is just a joke! What's your take on this Ed?
Cheers mate,
DublinRed. {Ed002's Note - I have no take on it - didn't the Express report Ramirez signed two weeks ago?}

18 Jul 2012 19:28:53
about the dempsey saga, now that fulham is saying we havent even bid and allen's agent telling about no transfer request. And are we really interested in mirallas.

Borini recently signed for Roma and made it clear that he was staying at Roma before he shortly made a move to anfield, so anything can happen. Just be patient and wait and see.

18 Jul 2012 19:24:45
As arsenals bid for M'baye Niang has been rejected, do you think rodgers could try for Niang? Couldn't find anything on the search function so thought I'd ask.

JanBorman {Ed002's Note - Very unlikely. M'Baye Niang is still a 17 year old with difficulties remaining over his contract. He could not move outside of France without a parent or guardian moving with him until he is 18 and under the new rules as he still counts as a "child" which in England means more schooling and limitations on training time. Perhaps one for the future - he turns 18 at Christmas. In the unlikely event he leaves France this summer I suspect it will be to Italy.}

18 Jul 2012 19:22:20
Heres my thoughts on mirallas. Lille, Toulouse and, in particular, Werder Bremen have been showing an interest in Mirallas after a move to Bayern Munich failed to materialise. Unconfirmed reports identify interest from Arsenal and Liverpool. Would be a decent addition to the squad.

Id particularly like to get the opinion of Ed002 on my thoughts. {Ed002's Note - Seems reasonable.}

I don't understand what you're trying to accomplish by copying Ed02's comments on Mirallas from the rumours section and trying to pass them of as your own, then asking for Ed02's opinion. Are you trying to prove something?

Are FSG cheap-charlies or is there another agenda?

Their actions, or lack of them would indicate an asset sale, then a club sale.
They just don't appear to be making any moves to make Liverpool serious contenders.
What they are doing now will in no way make up the 37 points they were behind the leaders.

My guess is that they are no longer interested. The sport of 'soccer' is alien to their culture. FSG want out and they are doing it in the usual US business fashion. I thought they were the real deal when they took over. One cannot complain about Kenny's signings. ALL managers make good ones and bad ones. I would only criticise Downing and Adam.
Kenny was unlucky with the Lucas injury and the 30+ times we hit the post. That must be some kind of record.

Roy Hodgson has massive amounts of experience compared to Rodgers. Even he struggled. I think Rodgers is probably OK but it really needs someone special to turn things around. De Matteo did it at Chelsea yet Villas-Boas is a very able manager.

Comparing managers with the Shankly era is a waste of time. Football has changed to much since then. Expectations are far higher, plus money rules the roost now.

How much football was on TV when the Great Shanks took over ?

I believe quiet a few supporters have sensed that things are not right. It doesn't take a genius. Things seem to be going wrong and the season hasn't even started yet. Senior players are loosing confidence.

Just feel sad about all the things that are/not going on.
Boot Hill Red

This is the biggest load of rubbish I've ever seen.

If you buy a company and it isn't doing well performance wise they you get rid of senior management - check. You then need to introduce a workable structure - check.

In terms of player or staff then there has been heavy investment.

What have they done wrong exactly? This is not a citeh situation they are business ppl not someone looking for a hobby!

The stadium they are taking there time, yes, but it is a big decision with multiple stake holders.

You have to remember what a state they took over.

Realistic red

Do you even know how much money they have put into our club, come back when you have a clue Matr

Are you forgetting last summer and the transfer window before that in January. Either Liverpool fans are getting younger and more ignorant or they have short term memory loss

You've even got a negative name?
Boot-Hill :)
kidmillions

This guy is a nonsense...if u buy the money and invest 120 mill and finish 7th in the league? what are u suppose to do? cheer? drink a beer and move on...KK..took us from a hell and left us again in the hell...

Just out of interest, how on earth do you or any of these other supporters who are "losing faith" have any kind of clue what is going on behind the scenes?

I can understand that people are frustrated at the lack of noise in a society that demands instant gratification, but it's a little early to be reading the last rites isn't it?

Boot Hill Red says what they (FSG) are doing now will not make up the 37 points
we were behind the leaders ! I would suggest that simply changing the manager will make a very big dent in that figure. It
is now up to Rodgers (and FSG) to make up the balance

Puzzled

It seems a good post to me.
Realistic and not full of La La land optimism.
FSG need to get a grip.
Andy Carroll wants to play for Liverpool.
Rodgers? I don't like the cut of his gib.

Ok..not rumours but facts
Carroll is certainly joining Newcastle ..sale not loan to be agreed in the region of 15m

Walcott to join Liverpool..fee to be agreed somewhere in the region of 12m

Dempsey to join Liverpool ..fee to be agreed somewhere in the region of 6-8m

Suarez is going nowhere
Other deals going through RVP to city
Dzecko to ac Milan
Modric to madrid

Copy and paste this for future reference..you heard it from redneck

Raheem Sterling and Sebastian Coates are set to have talks with BR about their 1st team chances for the upcoming season and may express desire to go out on a season loan.

Sterling can't go on loan until Christmas. So his loan, if he wants one, will only be half a season.

Evening eds fellow reds , Dont mean to go on but why am I getting the feeling that Liverpool have been given false hope again , last season we were busing spent big money on big name players,and did ok ,but this year I get the feeling that BR just wants to change everything that was king kenny and Liverpool were trying to do, and BR idea of big players aren't the same as mine and maybe lfc .they might seem big to BR from what he is use to but not to lfc .and the owners have zipped up the purse .so if last year was so poor how do they think we will get better with a lot less experience at our club .cheers psv

Each manager has his own vision of how he thinks the game should be played. Rodgers is not Dalglish, therefore he will think a different way which in turn will involve different players and a different style. It's called evolutuion. RED LENIN

"BR idea of big players aren't the same as mine" ah well there we have it people, liverpool should be signing the players that psv wants and not what their manager wants. Thats where we've been going wrong, psv why didn't you apply for the job after KD was sacked if you know the "big players" we should be going for i'm sure FSG would happily entertain you and your champ manager approach to running a club. nugget

To the person calling me a nugget ,the players that BR has signed that you must like wouldn't get in any of the top five prem sides this season.or am I missing a trick here .so don't take the piss .as I said at the start I feel we've been given false hope thats all .do you think we will finish higher than last year with this squad ? A lot of us spend well earnt money on our club so we should be able to pass our thoughts over .you don't have to agree with at all don't give a s*** ,I'm just passing my thought on

18 Jul 2012 18:58:45
Last year we were a 'Borini' from being a top four side....and that was when Carroll was warming the bench,
Factor in the Suarez 8 game ban and Lucas losing a whole season and im saying its not all doom and gloom...oh and where was Gerrard for most of it......
Its not all bad, if we carry on with the pass and move footy under Rodgers then it can only get better..........
Im feeling slightly more optimistic myself.....Id rather Carroll stayed as an option but to be fair which player ever wants to stay as merely an option?........
Plenty of window time left yet boys

Negative posts keep coming in, where are the fans that got behind this club in cup semis and finals over recent times? Talk about only sing when your winning, typical negative fans that this club does not need behind them. Especially when a new manager has just come in, give this team a chance under new supervision before you ask for superstars

Further to what huddzred said yesterday (I know I'm
late but I was out for a few sweet sherries last night)
I have stated previously that I think it would be better if there was a charge made for the site. As long as the figure wasn't too onerous for anyone hard-up it would be good - it would keep time wasters off the page - and if it didn't at least they would be paying for their nuisance value.

Not bothered where the cash goes - charity is fine.
I also wouldn't mind if the money stayed in-house so that the EDS could at least have a couple of boozy get-togethers a year.

Puzzled

I agree have been a long time poster and would rather put a fiver in to keep the nuisance posters away.

I posted the other week and don't think it got published but Dempsey is not signing for Liverpool. Enquiries were made but that was it. Allen is a target for sure. After Allen the next signing will be 'one for the fans' but the transfer merry-go-round needs to start first. DavaGinge

Hi Eds
There is no loyalty in football unless you look at Gerrard and Carra. With this in mind, do you think that the offloading of Carroll is purely a financial decision due to his huge wages? I would agree if it transpired that a player being paid as much as he is, sat on the bench and only came on as a sub. In which case BR gets my backing. (I'm sure he'll be glad to know) ;-)
Rman {Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with wages.}

Its more to do with the fact hes not good enough!

Aquilani n Cole should be on the same coach outta here, going by what you've just posted, unfortunately, that's not true..

STEVE
RED4LIFE

I dont see it as Carroll not being good enough, it is more a case of whether he is suitable for the style. I remain undecided myself.

Andy K

Andy K If your good enough you can adapt to any game plan or style! Unfortunately Andy Carroll is not good enough!

Is it just me but do you get the impression the AC transfer is being handled really badly. I don't think it makes us look good if we treat our employees is what is perceived to be a really shoddy way. He is still a Liverpool player and as such shown some respect. I am not a AC enthusiast by any means but this is hardly the Liverpool way. {Ed002's Note - In what way do you think it is being handled badly?}

The lad hasnt been given a crack not even been seen in training from BR and he has expressed a true desire to stay so he deserves a chance at least imo.
YNWAmanc

Nobody from liverpool has made any comments whatsoever about carroll being transfered. This is the liverpool way. You must be listening to the rumours and what's coming out of newcastle.

So Rodgers needs to see him play some friendlies to make a decision, obviously he was on a different planet for the last 18 months.

hi edds great site ,just wondering if you could shed some light on theo walcott. Is he a possibility or are people just doing as they did with mata this time last year? Noticing alot of negative postings going on today! Is it the weather... Don't worry ye faithless numpties after the darkness comes the light ! I still think that last season we were only a good goal scorer away from challenging for fourth and played some good footie rather than the mindless dross that was churned out under Benitez ! Granted he got us in the champions league and even won it...I think you all know the story... But we as a faithful bunch of kopites yearn for something more. We wont settle for an arab or russian sugar daddy that throws their toys out of the pram week in week out. No we are doing this the right way. Sure it will take some time but hey look on the bright side maybe all these partimers who do nothing but complain about the fact that we dont sign the next big thing every five minutes or spend stupid amounts of money that we don't have will jog on and leave us with our hope and memories... I for one am fully behind Brendan and like the cut of his jibb. Go get em BR and he will definitley not walk alone as long as the faithful remain hopeful.... YNWA Tobiwan

is the general sale for domestic games now a thing of the past at anfield? it's ridiculous that you have to buy a membership to even be able to buy a ticket. football is so uninviting nowadays

You dont have to buy a membership. Just register. If there are any tickets left you can get them on general sale.

What do some people seem to have against Dempsey? He is a very good professional who would be a useful asset to almost any squad. He has a simple, direct game and you know that you're going to get a performance from him every week. I know I'm going to get slaughtered for this, but apart from Silva and Valencia, there aren't too many more wingers in the league that I would prefer to have. He's far better than what we have at the moment, he can only improve us. If he can score 10 goals in the league next season (should he sign for us) that's 10 more goals than we got last season from Downing, and potentially 10 more winning goals, right? Whilst signing the likes of Hulk, Pedro, James Rodriguez etc. may sound better on paper, in reality, is it worth it, paying those huge sums of money on fees and wages (not that they are realistic targets anyway).

Sorry for the mild rant, but I just had to give my opinion on this matter.

The club has been pathetic for 20+ years now! Excuse after excuse, we're building for the future..... When is the future coming?

20 years? So the champions league in 2005 was a mickey mouse cup was it?

A few FA cups, a few carling cups, uefa cup, champs league, super cup. most teams can only dream of this

A joke for 20 years!!?? Are you sure you even support lfc, 2001 treble winners, 2005 cl winners 2007 cl runners up 2008 2nd to mancs but should have definately won it that year, I dnt think we have had a bad 20 years do you, football is not your strong point my freind

Only Man U and Chelsea have won more trophies than Liverpool in the last 20 years.

Stop it ,think before you moan , get behind every one at the club we were all together when we helped get rid of h+G , thank god we are not in rangers position .
i think we will do well this season and even if that means we win our home games that will be great , i do not like carroll , adam , henderson and others but they play for my team who i have supported for 55 years so i am thankful we have done the things we have done but i am greedy i want more but we need to get behind every one and respect fsg and BR as they have not come along just for the ride they want what we want. ynwa red mick tag

Got a huge point there- building for the future, been hearing that for years

We've become a joke from 2009 onwards so much promise, expense and nothing but underachievement and bad signings when we actually had the money to spend big. even now we're linked with dempsey and allen while other clubs move upwards. coincidently, this dark period has coincided with the rise of lucas leiva

18 Jul 2012 17:38:53
i believe liverpool will be a much stronger team this season. last season at times we played some lovely football and should have really finished much higher in the table. the appointment of BR will in my opinion will turn us into an even stronger and more feared team this season.Its not about going out and buying so called superstars for extortionate prices that might not live up to their price tags, its about bringing back the good old ways of pass and move football with a squad who in all essence work for each other and show ultimate commitment to the club and fans alike. I totally trust in whoever BR see's fit to bring to LFC, that they can and will benefit our great club.
P.S i will be sad to see big AC go, i do think we would see a better fitter AC this season.

cheggerbalofski

Personally think we only need tweaking. As you said we played some lovely stuff last season if we'd been a bit more clinical would have finished a lot higher. A clinical finisher, holding DM, creative AM and a right sided winger/forward and we'll be challenging. Apart from losing AC I think BR seems to have it in hand, but will need to see who actually does end up coming in.

I for one am positive for next season.

Why doesn't Suarez belt up over the Evra incident?
He may have been stitched up originally but surely he's not naive enough to think that anything he says in relation to what went on, will not be picked up by the press. Even the Echo has written 'SUAREZ REOPENS RACE ROW!'
When you see what he said it is taken out of context.
Anyone think Luis is angling for a move?

NoneTheWiser

If you were oppressed, would you bottle it up?

Well hes served his punishment so surely commenting on the subject cant hurt.You mention he was stitched up which has become more obvious over the last two big racial rows so why not say so.
You say what he said was taken out of context so why comment at all.He is not angling for a move who trys to get out by starting a race row that is probably the most stupid comment ive ever heard.Maybe he feels that he was mistreated and wants to raise awareness to these new cases which seemed to have gone unpunished.

Kopping a feel

Sorry any eds if anything I have said breaches some sort of rules but people need to know. {Ed002's Note - There are limits to what can be said.}

It's nothing to do with oppression.
My point is all Suarez is doing is raking up all the old stuff. The press love it! They love to stir it against Liverpool and will Jump on it put their spin on it and end up distorting what was originally said. Surely he must know this?
NoneTheWiser {Ed002's Note - He knows. He also what he was doing when he gave interviews earlier in the close season mentioning how unfairly the FA treated him. He might be an idiot, but he is not stupid.}

Kopping a feel
What is being taken out of context is his latest statement. Any sane person who reads the headlines that i've seen in at least two newspapers will look and think oh it's all this racism stuff being reignited.
When you read what Luis actually says, it's not reopening or reigniting anything!
The whole affair was botched up from DC interviewing Luis to the FA doing their enquiry. Nobody spoke with a Uruguayan linguist for possible losses in translation, just Spanish speaking interpreters. It's not the same.
My whole point is Luis should know the press by now. They won't be on his side. They won't be on liverpools side, so he is best just not talking about the whole sordid affair.

Probs a long shot but do you think there's any chance of Carroll + £5mil for Papiss Cissé?

Small possibility if you did it the other way - £5M + Carroll for Cisse. The way you have it- not a chance.

Same difference

carroll + 5 million

5million + carroll

I'd rather keep Carroll - 23 and can only get better.

Hey Ed, the rumours linking us to Victor Moses have been quiet for a while now, is there still any chance of us signing him?
He's a decent player and still only 21, he could have a bright future or be a super sub for us next season?
Thanks,

18 Jul 2012 17:25:26
People seem obsessed with how many midfielders we have, but in all honesty if you're playing a 3 man midfield you need that cover.

Ideal starting three are

Lucas, Allen and Gerrard.

First choice back up is

Henderson, Shelvey and Aquilani.

That leaves Spearing, Adam and Suso.

Aquilani is likely to leave opening space for Suso ying to ship him out. Spearing may stay, judging on that conference, but he's heaviliy touted to WBA and would play a real bit part anyway. Adam again may go, as he doesn't seem to fit Rodgers style but we shall see.

Suso like Sterling is a little young, but we have a lot of games like Europa/Carling for them to play in and perhaps make a difference coming off the bench.

Cole may stay also and be asked to fill in on the flanks along with Downing as back to up Suarez and Boroni/Dempsey. Personally I see room for another winger/striker if Carroll leaves, but we'll see.

Personally if Allen and Dempsey sign I'll be fairly happy, as long as we have adequate back up which I think we would have. The only position I'd like another signing is a winger/forward player. I don't want to block Sterling's progression, but it's a squad game and I see space for another.

Quick question and just thought i would canvas the opinions of fellow reds....Why are we supposed to be getting rid of Carroll when he started to show that he finally felt like he belonged at the club? He is 23 years of age and has the potential to be a star. He may be good in the air, but if last season is anything to go by, the ball was played on the floor when he was on and if memory serves me right, he aint got that bad a left foot either.....plus, he holds the ball up well for marauding midfielders. Also, why are we pursuing Dempsey for £10m when he is out of contract next year? he is 29 and surely it makes sense to play Carroll and sign him up to a pre-contract in Jan 13? That way all bases are covered, no outlay and we may get to see he best of big Andy? If we don't (and i believe we will), we will only get to boost his transfer value....

On another note.....not 100% sure, but was at the back of India Buildings yesterday and thought i saw Theo Walcott getting into the passenger side of a silver 12reg Merc estate.....if it wasn't him, it was his double!! I never took a picture cos a) was over before i knew it and b) was on mobile and only outside as reception is terrible inside india buildings...

Robert

So any footballer in the world who has shown some signs of form can play any style of football? all this hype because he cost 35m. BR knows what he is doing so judge him in january not now...I would even play sterling in the front 3 over carroll. Hardly any team who plays 4-3-3 "holds the ball up", they dont need to, they always have support and options on...and say goodbye to that long ball from pepe or defenders under pressure...they will play their way out of trouble....not hoof it to the typical tall English centre forward.

I really dont know why are people backing caroll...he is a strong in the air..and for god sake..liverpool under BR wont play that game anymore...we play 4-3-3..without wingers...like barca...we play pass and move football..and caroll has a terrible control over the ball..i am sure..some of us sitting here is better than caroll in dribbling and shooting...

35 mill was over the odds and never understood why we bought him, especially as was injured and so a panic buy doesn't really fit into it. Any decent player can fit into any system, just because he is 6'4 doesn't mean you only play to his head. As regards the fact hold up play isn't necessary in a 433....have you seen the mobility of our current midfield? Gerrard my be quick but he will miss as many games as he plays, lucas has been converted to a holding midfielder and ain't the quickest anyway, don't know how quick Henderson is but know he lacks the confidence, esp when Gerrard on the pitch and Spearing and Adam lack mobility....Shelvey, yes i reckon he could do well.....then again he modelled his game on Gerrard's and was arguably one of our most advanced players last season when he played. If BR plays he young players we may all be surprised.....only time will tell, but IMO i believe selling Carroll would be a mistake...the rest may be conjecture but wasp[lain to see last season, when to be fair, finishing aside, we created a shedload of chances and were seldom outplayed

Just seen that Forbes have valued Man U at $2.2 Billion, Real Madrid $1.8 billion, Barca $1.3 billion.
Sadly, my beloved LFC nowhere close.
Just goes to show how far LFC have actually fallen behind (well the last 20 years that is), not even in the 'same race' anymore!.

Having said that, how much debt are each of these clubs in....? If you took the debt out of the value, how much would you have left.

Sooty

And if we carry on with the same ideas as it looks at the moment in another 20 years we won't even be known.

Still higher than expected. Compare it to 2007...

We are like 7th out off all the football teams in the world, that isnt bad

The list actually features the top 50 Sports franchises in the world.
Man U at $2.2 billion, lowest ranked (no 50) at $674 million.
LFC not even in the top 50, so valued below $674million, and could be a low as 1/4 of Man U's value.
Sad really, when you think about it, even Chelsea and Arsenal feature in the list.

John Henry and Tom Werner must be happ thoughy, Boston Red Sox valued at $1billion, so no doubt where they have been investing and growing.
Maybe they should focus on what they know best (only a comment mind you)!.

SENSATIONAL NEWS - The great Ken Aguero will return to the Anfield staff car park! In a sensational swap deal, Andy Carroll will go to the Dog & Duck back yard, with Ken Aguero coming the other way. Rumours that a percentage cut of string vest sales were used as a sweetener to lure Ken from a slef-induced alcoholic slumber. In a press interview Ken is quoted as saying "You're my best mate you are, here's my hand, here's my heart. You're a good kid - can you slip me a fiver" before vomiting over a nearby jack russell and being lead away in handcuffs for failing to answer Bail in regard to 'other matters'. The big man is back. RED LENIN

Talk about a joke being done to death! I think we've boiled those cabbages at least once already.

Ash

Haha, I remember the very first post that started the Ken Aguero saga.. man that was a while back

Give it a rest with the Ken Aguero jokes, they're getting boring now.

If this was not posted by RED LENIN I would have said enough already , every year ?

But I give respect to one of the regular posters .

EdWood

My mate who was the orignal poster of the ken aguero joke passed away a month ago this made me laugh thanks GBNF barry lad

Quinny you,ll never walk alone

Ken Aguero is a transfer window regular and long may the tradition continue. I'm sure we will see him in the January window as well. Provided he makes Bail.

Well Barry Lad, as long as Ken Aguero is on these pages (and this is the banter page after all), then as the originator your mate Quinny will be as well. RED LENIN

I love the ongoing joke, makes a change cracking a smile after sifting through the moranic bull sheep on here.

hi eds, is it true that affelay is available for as little as 6 million euros and mirallas has a release clause in the region of 8 million euros?

Furthermore, are the rumours true that we have a budget in the region of 20 million plus sales? if so then why are we thinking of wasting half of that on an aging Dempsey when we could pursue one or even two of the signings I've mentioned above. it seems like a no brainer imo.

cheers and keep up the good work.
scot-RED

My only response to that is how many goals did either of them score in the prem last year? Dempsey may be 29 but he is good at what he does, is proven over several seasons in the prem, and will help us get back to where we want to be that we can buy better players in future. Trust in Brendon's judgement, that is why he is our manager and we are sat here asking questions lol

Hi eds, great work!
Just an update on Sam Magri if anyone remembers him, the kid who had a trial from Pompey. Liverpool are interested but Pompey won't sell as he is a talented defender on a low wage so suits there current financial situation. However when his contract ends he would be very interested in making a move to us. I'm friends with his cousin and we were chatting about it earlier.
Cheers

Hi edds, im fed up with everyone saying "Why are we signing average player like allen" We signed alonso as an average lad, reina, maxi, bellamy, agger, skrtel.
I rest my case, have a nice day

Maxi's crap, Bellamy and Agger are injury prone so that 3 you could argue is a waste of money. Skrtel was about to get sold but had a traffic season last and Reina has had an average last two seasons, Also he keeps threatening a move.
We are falling for this protential tagg yet again. What can Joe Allen have that we don't have already? Is he worth the high price tagg? Would he be gaurunteed first choice starter? Would Chelsea, City, United want him? Your answers lie within the questions

Alonso reina maxi were all top class la liga players, joe allen is nowhere near as good

They can buy superstars because..........They are in the Champions league, when we are we can. Also have the bottle to put you name on your posts.

Sooty

The ready mad players are simply not interested in a move to a club participating in the Europa League with Premier League finishes between 6th-8th over the last 3 seeasons .

We will have to cut our cloth accordingly for a few sseasons yet and do things the hard way .

We used to be known as English footballs most knowledgable fans,with some of the comments I have read in recent weeks I doubt that some have seen joe Allen play & they certainly were not at anfield when joe Allen & Leon Britten performed so superbly not to mention Nathan dyer,personally I think a future midfield of Lucas joe Allen James mc carthy(please!)/Henderson could be as good as we have ever had..,,,..shankleys left leg

FSG, America's G4S.

18 Jul 2012 16:28:42
Hey ed,

I understand u must be very busy at the moment but i just have a quick question. I understand you say that the dempsey deal will go through regardless of whether Carroll leaves or not, however if carroll does leave do you think Borini and dempsey will be seen as adequate cover or do you think they will be identifying possible replacements in case the deal with Carroll does go through. Thanks for all the good work please keep it coming.

Regards Ray. {Ed002's Note - I don't know what the plan is but much will depend on the readiness of the youngsters and who else leaves.}

18 Jul 2012 16:21:53
players in
Borini - £11m
Mirallas - £10m (12.75m euro)
Dempsey - £8m
Gokhan Tore - £3.9m (5m euros)
Joe Allen - £12m
= £44.9m

maxi
aurelio
carroll 17m
kuyt 900k
bellamy 2m
downing 10m
= £29.9m

£44.9m - £29.9m = £15m

But the one going out are better players than what is coming in .

So you would pay 10mill for a player who has a release clause of 6.8mil(about)

18 Jul 2012 16:20:24
Question for eds. If Carroll is sold for in and around £20m, do you expect us to go and buy another striker in the same price rang, or do you expect us to bring in 2 or 3 7-8 million pound players? I really hope its not the latter myself. Thanks Jayo {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

18 Jul 2012 16:18:44
I am interested to see what kind of brass n*ts BR has, when dealing with this lastest Suarez episode.
I think he will just roll over and follow,

18 Jul 2012 16:16:27
Eds, is there any chance of Cisse instead of Ba if Carroll does go to Newcastle? {Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry. I would think Liverpool would prefer cash only.}

Yeah, they're going to let one of the most prolific EPL starters in history leave in a player + cash deal for a romantic reunion with a player who scored half what cisse scored all season... Screw your head on.

18 Jul 2012 16:15:45
LFC allegedly tried to swap Carroll for Tevez in January. Fingers crossed that Mancini shows some interest. If anyone can afford to pay £20m for a plan B its Citeh. £20m will do nicely and help fund the acquisition of Dempsey and Allen.

18 Jul 2012 15:51:54
hi eds great site
what s the situation with granero? {Ed002's Note - He will probably stay at Madrid.}

18 Jul 2012 15:49:11
I have heard that the reason that we have gone in for Allen after agreeing not to approach any Swansea players is because Spurs have been asking about Allen and that then allows us to approach Swansea as another club has . Eds please can you confirm this for me please?
wildwelshman {Ed002's Note - I have no idea of the content of any agreement between Liverpool and Swansea.}

Thanks for your reply ed002 do you know if Spurs has any contact with Swansea about Allen?
wildwelshman {Ed002's Note - I don't know but I can't see that they need him.}

18 Jul 2012 16:10:58
Kevin mirrallas and Joe Allen should be no brainers would get both for less than 20m looks like carroll is going and flog adam to fulham west ham or Swansea and lets take it from their

Danthebeast

And you watch Greek football on a regular basis then, and watch Swansea every week also - Joe Allen looks a good player, but is he much better than what we have if those players perform to their obvious ability.

John B

Mirallas would excellent and I believe he would walk straight into the team and be an instrumental player ( I do watch Greek football)

liverario

What channel is it on? I sure doubt you stream it online every time and it hasn't been bought by ESPN etc. So I assume you watch via a website which is kinda strange considering it is a poor quality of footy.

18 Jul 2012 16:07:55
Hello ed great job great site just checking if you know why we are we buying central midfielders we have to many Players for this position. The problem area for Liverpool has always been wingers and a lack of pace do you have any info if this area will be addressed this transfer window and who the likely targets are.

Reddave {Ed002's Note - How about Sterling?}

Yh fair enough sterling but we would need another one aswell no edd? {Ed002's Note - We will see who leaves. Dempsey could be used as a wide player as well.}

18 Jul 2012 16:07:04
Ibrahimovic cost PSG only £15million, thats a steal for a man of that quality, another talent slip through liverpool's noses and they didn't show any interest.

Because he is a moody egotistical kn/b that's why. Are we expecting LFC to buy all players that become available this year?

Clueless person keyboard basher. £15m a year in wages had nothing to do with the deal i suppose?

Rocky

"slip through liverpool's noses"

Is that possible? I have heard of things slipping through peoples fingers but never noses. Although looking at Ibrahimovic quite a lot could slip through that nose.

JRG {Ed002's Note - Right under their ears.}

Are you gonna sit there and moan whenever ANY player signs for a club, where ever in the world and moan 'thats another one we've missed out on!'
We can't sign every player in the world!
Absolute non-sense!

Would you like to explain how we would pay his reported 13 million a year wage? I can't imagine why this particular player has 'loved' so many clubs in his career....

The captain

Do you honestly think he would have come to Liverpool?

Yea but would probably be on a minimum of 200K per week (guess), thats an extra 30 mil on a 3 year contract

Check his salary before yu post things like that - apparently it's between 13 and 15 million a year ( and I don't mean francs ). We couldn't and most definitely shouldn't entertain that sort of thing. Besides he has form for winning titles, hence the reason he's gone to PSG.

John B

He is a similar type player to Carroll and Carroll doesn't fit BR's style of football.

He has never done and will never do anything in this country, too easy to wind up, and moody.

Sooty

1. He is dreadful & over rated.

2. No I covered it in point 1

18 Jul 2012 16:05:39
FSG might as well sell Liverpool now. Borini, Demsey, Allen. I think i would get more exited getting hit over the head with a blunt object. As for rodgers i give him 6 months till he finds out how far average players will take him.

Honestly mate you clearly know nothing! Dempsey scored 23 goals overall last year which is more than any of our lads, so if he Is average are you saying Suarez, and gerrard are average players???

Could someone pass me the blunt object please I will get great pleasure using it on you ;-)

Well some of these players plus some of less quality took him to 11th place not far behind us.
Now he has a pretty much solid backline and a jaw dropping midfield plus attacking options so how can he do any worse.

Kopping a feel

Didn't Swansea beat us 1-0 last game of the season with average players? Borini looks like a very good player, Allen is class, ran the whole Swansea midfield on his own last season and bashed the likes of Gerrard, Scholes, Lampard, Yaya Toure, the list goes on, 6th best pass completion rate in the whole of Europe!! You obviously haven't a clue about whats going on at the club or the way the owners want the club run. Why buy "Big name" players and waste hundreds of millions of pounds when there's players out there for less than £10m that have better stats? We dont have the money anymore to waste, look at Andy Carroll, £35m and for what? Downing £16m? Borini cost around £10m and will score around 15 - 20 goals this season guaranteed, he's a super finisher.

Rocky

Time will tell.
Let me remind you that Carroll, Henderson, Adam, Downing, all looked like 'very good players'.
Proof is to be seen!

Maybe you should have "exited" this site bedore posting such carp

Well if Dempsey and Allen are the exciting signings promised by MR Rodgers, then I would suggest BR checks the dictionary for the definition of 'exciting'!.

Perhaps you should look up the word 'supporter' in the dictionary.

JRG

May i suggest you look in the dictionary and look up the word SUPPORT

Mr Slonk The Red

"A player who will excite the supporters" does not equal "an exciting player".

You clearly have no appreciation or idea as to what a good footballer is. Did you not watch any games that Allen or Dempsey were involved in last season? Both had superb seasons, With Allen in particular being awesome for Swansea. If we do manage to pull of both of these transfers I would be very happy.
I bet you are hoping we sign Ramirez, Mirallas, or whoever else is highly rated on FM12, but have you actually seen any of these 'exciting' players that you are championing for play? My guess is that you haven't and that you are just jumping on the fancy names bandwagon. Would you class Xavi as a exciting player. He doesn't score many goals nor does he beat a man, but for anyone who knows their football after Messi he is arguably the next best player in the world (alongside Iniesta and Ronaldo IMO).
And with regards to FSG, from what i've seen so far we are in very good hands. They backed KK to the hilt and it looks like they are going to do the same with BR (within our means of course), whilst running the club exactly the way that most posters on here were hoping for after those to clowns Hicks and Gillete left.

Tommy Walsh

Wow!.
What silly responses.
Siege mentality at play.

Mr walsh a certain Mr Adams played well the season before he came to LFC and what did he do last season . F all mate allen is a good player in a decent team would he get in city man u chelsea or arsenal or madrid , barcelona bayern AC inter milan dont think so mate so exciting as a fan no hopeful does this make ma a bad fan ?

Henderson, Downing, Adam, Carroll all had brilliant One season just like Dempsey and Allen. I wonder why noone alse was interested in those players but Liverpool, maybe because they are one hit woners and other football clubs but us? Now , no one is interested in Allen or Dempsey but we are finding them marvelous players all of a sudden. Now I really hope Im wrong but am tired of Liverpool being linked with average players.

18 Jul 2012 16:00:46
Sky Sports understands Liverpool are preparing to make a bid for Swansea midfielder Joe Allen.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers worked with Allen when he was in charge at the Liberty Stadium last season.

Although there has been talk of an agreement that Rodgers would not raid his former club, financial reality dictates that Swansea would be forced to consider significant interest in their players.

Liverpool are yet to bid for the 22-year-old Wales international but, after missing out on Gylfi Sigurdsson, indications are that the Reds are ready to firm up interest and test Swansea's resolve.

Allen is currently on Olympic duty with Team GB after enjoying a hugely impressive debut season in the Premier League.

ReDDaZ

How many midfielders could we possibly have?
I personally think we have to many as it is.
Allen had a good season at Swansea but could he really gauruntee first choice starter at Liverpool? He he really worth the gamble with another huge fee?
Physic red

There is more quantity in our midfield than quality. The likes of spearing, adam n aquilani r simply there to make up the numbers. They r n never will be good enough for liverpool. Move those 3 on, n bring in allen who i think will be a big success with us.
Indian Buzzer

We only have too many if none of the ones we already have leave. Therefore the persuit of Dempsey should tell you something - that someone else is on the way out. My money is on both Cole and Aquilani being either sold or loaned again in reciprocal deals - ie Dempsey to Liverpool for £10M and Cole on loan. RED LENIN

At least two out of Aquilani, Adam and Spearing will leave.

That leaves Lucas, Gerrard, Hendo & Shelvey, and possibly one of the three mentioned above. Room for another.

18 Jul 2012 15:59:15
I think NUFC are going to make LFC jump through damn 'hoops' on the whole AC thing.
Just hope there are still some other options available wrt strikers.
Clearly LFC need the funds from AC sale, before they can buy.

Was wondering when that 'exciting' transfer (promised by BR, the one to make us all happy) would be announced.
Or is it Borini (most fans had never heard of him before it happened).

True football fans had heard of him before, in fact I think Liverpool were linked with him when he left Chelsea (maybe the Ed's can confirm this)

I'm getting proper riled today....

The captain {Ed002's Note - There was interest last summer but he had already agreed to join Parma.}

18 Jul 2012 15:54:53
The minimum offer I would accept for Carroll would be £20M + D.Santon. Anything less no thank you.

The Rectangle

No chance. That would mean NUFC buying Carroll for the equivilent fee of around £28million.
Give yourself a shake.

18 Jul 2012 15:45:15
Just wanted to know if we owe any money to Newcastle for Caroll? Also I have posted before about people have to be patient with the new manager, show your bloody support and stop moaning beore anythings even started. We must be linked with 50 players we cant have them all ! Good works ed's!

We will get all the crap average cheapest rubbish out there with FSG.

FSG paid out what, £100M+ on transfers last summer? We have the 4th highest wage bill in the league. The club has lost pretty massive amounts of money the last 2 years, yet FSG continues to authorize transfers in.

Yeah, those guys are completely unsupportive. What do you people want from them?

18 Jul 2012 15:40:09
I have a friend in Spain who works as a gardener in a park near Nou Camp. He said his dog has heard that Barcelona will make a bid for Downing and offer Affellay plus the difference of the price - 17 million. Anything right?

I think you need to ask the dog to give you some better material.

18 Jul 2012 15:40:00
After selling or letting go.... kuyt, maxi, aurelio n looks like Carroll now too...... All we need to do is buy 2 wingers for the left n right side coz we already have Suarez, borini n Bellamy to compete for the central role.... We need gaston Ramirez and muniain n our squad would be a whole lot better..... Both players are young, skilful n will improve in time too......I know they would cost alot but if we sell Carroll then we could buy Ramirez with the money we get, n then get the owners to stump up 25 mil for muniain...... Simple as that.....forget the likes of Dempsey, Walcott n Allen, hope we don't get any of them coz not good enough

Craig

Bellamy is on his way to Cardiff and Rodgers preferess 4-3-3 so two wingers is not in the equation. Even one winger is dubious as out-and-out wingers don't suit 4-3-3.

I have had a confirmation of my membership via e-mail and I've received numerous other e-mails from them, but whenever I go to log-in it says unable to log-in password and e-mail not recognised. Do I have to wait for my membership pack through the post before I can log on? I've tried changing my password but it says e-mail not recognised. Can someone help me out here. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. St. Helens Red {Ed002's Note - I am sure someone will be able to help.}

I have the same problem sometimes. Make sure you have the correct codes. Or you could click on forgot username and passwords just to be sure

Depending on what membership you've bought really, different memberships give you access to different areas, my membership includes priority tickets, subscription to LFC.tv, live match feeds (usually matches but sometimes you get live commentary with Jason McAteer and St.John). Just check the details of the confirmation email LFC.tv sent you, sometimes payments dont go through so access to your LFC account will be denied. Hope this helps

18 Jul 2012 15:36:05
Eds, is it possible that AC Milan had to sell two top players for 65 million to raise funds to buy Carroll? I agree that this would be paying over his market value, but perhaps they see something in Carroll? He did score at the Euros.

With 65 million we could buy Allen for 25 million, Dempsey for 20 million and still have 20 million left over for Sinclair.

Good times ahead at LFC! {Ed002's Note - I knew someone would get there in the end.}

things are looking up

reina,jones and gulacsi look like are 3 keepers this season.

johnson,kelly and flanaghan are the right back options

enrique and robinson are left back but we do have kelly and johnson versatile in this position

skrtel ,agger,carragher,coates and wilson with kelly and wisdom also option for central defense

lucas,spearing and coady are defensive midfielders

gerrard,adam,henderson for central midfield suso and cole who i think will stay and allen will be signed from swansea as well .

suarez,borini,sterling,downing,morgan,and the soon to come dempsey from fulham and maybe demba ba as art of carroll swap or walcott from arsenal will give us options and goals in a front 3

looking forward to new season

You forgot to mention one of r most promising players who i feel will feature more than henderson, step forward jonjo shelvey

He may have forgot one but lets not let your sarcasm spoil one of the better posts I have seen.
I think FSG have employed Rodgers too blood in the youth this season.

You lost all credibility by using the word Spearing - he's up there with Sean Dundee, Eric Meijer and The Pony Tailed poacher Voronin.

Just to reply did forget shelvey so well spotted and as for spearing he cant pass a ball and wont be around for long but dont think he will be going anywhere this season which is why he is up there

hey ed's , just want to say what a fantastic job you guys are doing , day in day out.

anyway, there is an article on skysports and other various media outlets regarding luis suarez. basically the headline reads " Suarez reopens racism row".
Just wanted to say iam sick to death of how the media twists and creates more problem. luis said nothing really wrong in that interview, he was basically asked a question and he gave his honest opinion regarding that whole situation.
what iam worried about, that with this crap circulating all over again, it could unsettle him once more and then he'll be forced to leave the club.
they have taken that hole interview and twisted to suit their own agenda.
lets hope we wont have hear about that incident once more.
on another note, have we actually at all looked at bas dost? very impressive goal scoring record.

cheers

Melbourne Red! {Ed002's Note - The press would not be reporting the matter if Suarez were to have kept quiet over it. Bas Dost is of interest to Wolfsburg, Valencia, Bayern Munich, West Ham and Aston Villa. There is unconfirmed interest from Inter and Spurs. Right now I think Wolfsburg looks the most likely destination if he moves this summer.}

Luis should have kept his honest opinion to himself. How many times is he going to give the press a chance to drag him back into this crap? A quick 'I prefer to talk about the future' would have sufficed. He's either incredibly naive or just plain stupid.

Brilliant player, but I can't see this ending well. I foresee an unhappy future with many, many LFC supporters on here screaming for 'yonks out', unfortunately.

Bas Dost signed for Wolfsberg about three weeks ago.

It's a bugger in this modern society when you get castigated for telling the truth - stand up Luis - you are a hero, for saying what everyone else in football knows.

Hi Ed i have just read on sky that liv step up allen interest. Hope it is true. Do u expect Dempsey and Allen will sign before usa tour over. And do u expect more signings after both these i mentiöned. Or our transfer seasön will over after these signings.
Ur response will greatly appreciated.

LFC Dave. {Ed001's Note - Rodgers is his own man, so it is possible he would go for Zaha, I find it unlikely myself. I have read scouting reports on him, they were not impressed. 'Awful end product', 'terrible decision making' and 'tendency to run into blind alleys and waste good possession' were the 3 bits that stood out on the reports that I remember. But Rodgers may see something in him.}

I personally think we should start to pursue Banega and Honda again, one of those will certainly add the spark our midfield needs. Really dont know why we didnt put some real interest in before, when we were linked.

E.H LFC

Banega yes Honda no. as Honda miss to many match last 2 years. {Ed002's Note - But you would still go for Banega who is still out with a long-term injury after being run over by his own car? Astonishing choice.}

Just a question for fellow Reds and the Eds.
If this carroll swap deal with Newcastle actually happens, which of their players would you like to see at LFC?

These are the players that I figure we would be looking at, which would you pick?

Tiote
Ben Arfa
Cabaye
Cisse
Ba

Personally, I would pick cisse as our lack of goals and obession with crossbars and goal posta cost us dear last season

Would love to hear everyone elses

Thanks all,

K. Bennett

I would like Cabaye or Cisse or even Tiote, K Bennett mate. Ben Arfa is inconsistent and Ba has dodgey knees.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Id go for Ben Arfa...I honestly dont think we need more strikers though...we have suarez,borini,bellers and suso and i know ill get shot down for this but I think suarez , borini and sterling playing as the forward 3 would be quality....and with the different style of play there will be more goals than last season.

JOZLFC

You're daft if you think we could cherry pick a player from the list above. It's either just money or money & a player Newcastle want rid of (that we would accept). They certainly will want to keep Cisse, Cabaye & Tiote. It's well known that Demba Ba could well be out the door, but I do have a hunch that Ben Arfa is a possibility.

Ben Arfa flourished when Newcastle changed the system to a front 3 attack. If they sign Andy Carroll; they are more likely to revert back to a 4-4-2 (Carroll & Cisse). Ben Arfa simply doesn't fit into a flat 4 midfield, therefore they may just consider letting him go...

Stone YNWA.

I would pick Ben Arfa.. Could be great on flanks with his trickery..

I would go for Santon, just so we can solve the full backs depth problem, it would allow us to use enrique johnson and santon for both full back positions, with healthy competition without being overwhelming, and allow us to start using kelly as our 4th choice CB behind Coates

liverario

I think of that group Tiote or Cabaye, but I don't see them letting Cabaye go and Tiote probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense as I don't see us using 2 CDMs and both he and Lucas are too good to sit on a bench.

Personally, I'd go for one of two other options (assuming NUFC isn't willing to part with just straight cash which would be highly preferred) - Coloccini or (preferred for me) Krul. I don't necessarily want to lose either of Reina/Skrtel, but looking at it from a 'team' perspective either Coloccini or Krul would make adequate (my opinion) replacements for either and might help us to raise some much needed money for additional transfers.

Alternatively, if a deal can't be worked out that is acceptable to us, then Andy just stays and hopefully does very well.

Hey Ed, there seems to be a few rumours now that we are chasing Kevin Mirallas of Olympiakos. Genuine interest or paper talk Ed?
Cheers mate,
DublinRed. {Ed002's Note - Lille, Toulouse and, in particular, Werder Bremen have been showing an interest in Mirallas after a move to Bayern Munich failed to materialise. Unconfirmed reports identify interest from Arsenal and Liverpool. Would be a decent addition to the squad.}

BR surprise signing will be Diego Forlan. Unwanted at Inter.

Really? The same Forlan who just joined Brazilian side Internacional? You silly silly person. Ulsterpool

We don't need him.. Over age doubt we would make a move for him..

PSG are reported to have paid the Rossoneri around €20million (£15.7m) for the services of the striker Ibrahimovic.

High Wages or not, that was a bargain buy!

He's getting 15m a year. How in any sense is that a good deal? Thank Jesus you're not in charge of our football club.

KingHeskey

Hi wages? He is getting paid 13 million per season. That makes his wages astronomical!

there are still people who would moan and complain hes too old!

Wages are also reported to be 1million a month after tax, so high wages are a pretty important factor

Transfer fees are a lot more complicated than just a figure....

He is ten times the player Andy Carroll could ever be

£15.7m? That wouldn't even pay for his nose!

there are a lot of andy carroll supporters on here. fair enough he probably does have an awful lot of potential but the question is do other clubs rate andy carroll as high as you do? there seems to be noone really interested in snapping up the 20 million that we have put on his head. do other clubs believe in all the potential and hype that surrounds him with some of the supporters on here?

Spot on mate,ifCarroll is so good why isnt there a string of clubs queing up to pay half of what we paid!

Hi Eds,
BR will most likely play a 4-3-3 formation and with Dempsey pretty much nailed on I would assume he would be played in the front 3 with suarez and borini? so who would you have in your middle 3? If you eds dont want to comment...can you post so others can? Trying to get an idea of the starting 11 ,many thanks.

JOZLFC

No bid made for Dempsey and Suarez treading eggshells with his Liverpool future. Could be a completely different forward line come August

I'd put Gerrard, Lucas and allen in the middle (assuming allen signs ofcourse, he still might not). Henderson could also easily fit in there too, i think he would suit BR's style of play quite well! Hopefully some of the youngsters could also get more starts, both Suso and Sterling would be perfect aswel, but ovbiously they need more premier league experience!
kelly23

Think the back four will pick itself, and if Dempsey does sign it will be him, Luis, and Borini, think the midfield will be the most difficult area to pick if he does play 4-3-3 as all the Midfielders we have already, plus if we actially are looking to sign Allen, Lucas will be back so think he will be a starter, will Gerrard play much, BR seems to rate Henderson, who i think could get more game if we do start playing this tika taka football, so im not to sure who will be in the midfield, but we cant alway play 4-3-3 so we have players who can move into different formations/positions, plus remember we are in 4 competitions next season,

At the minute signing suggest to play a team like this
Reina
Johnson skertle. Agger Enrique
Lucas
Gerrard. Allen.
Suarez. Borrini. Dempsey
Just my opinion on current and likely signings
Red man

I'd love to see Lucas, Gerrard and Aquilani as the middle three.

This is highly dependent on Alberto wanting to play for us and giving us all. I think the three of them in there would offer great balance and compliment each other very well.

I also think that this would fit in well with Rodgers style of play. My mouth waters at the thought of a fully fit (and confident) Aquilani, Gerrard and Suarez in the same team.

I also wouldn't write off Downing just yet, I think he'll have a big part to play on the left of the front three. His pass completion stats are great (I'm sure Rodgers would be looking at these) especially for someone playing at the top end of the pitch and with Suarez, Borini and, possibly, Dempsey to play alongside he's bound to get an assist this year!

If Aquilani is not interested, swap him with Allen.

IanElite

I hope you are wrong. I am still hopeful of us signing a winger with pace for the right side. Borini, Suarez and (sub in any of several possibilities). Midfield will be (when all healthy) Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson. The back four are obvious. You may ask where Demsey fits in? I suspect he will not start every game, and there will be some squd rotation. With us in the Europa cup it is necessary to be deep. I also would sub Aquilani for Henderson if he stays.

Hard one to call.
Who knows what will happen with Suarez, and Dempsey and Allen still up in the air.
Fact is, we have lost 2 attacking options (kuyt and maxi) and bellamy uncertain, and only brought in 1 player thus far.
Its day 18 of transfer window, so a month to go till season starts (tough early fixtures), just hope some transfer business gets done soon!.

what really is go on at lfc. they sold the club to yonks yet again and fairplay they got the club back on its feet again.things started to look good. they put up money last season to buy players. yes we did pay over the odds on some of them but on the other side they made money back on some players we sold. ok what now? well still no news on a new ground, no money for players unless they are under 10m and now they treat a young english play like s***. did they say they wanted young players to come. from what i can recall they did and then they go and treat them like this. what a joke they are. this is how yanks treat people. ive supported liverpool fc for 36years and over the last 10years have hated the way the club has been run. its not right we are a big club one of the biggest in the world. i thought fsg were going to be diffent but lets be honest there not. they dont have a clue what there doing with the club. things are not done the same here as they are over there but they cant see that but the liverpool fans can. i hate this. i love the club but this just is not right. i dont want to slate the club i love but really. i know there will be a few of you that will disagree and thats fine but you only have to see what the other lfc fans are saying. they are only being honest and worryed for there club they support.

There will be more than just a few who disagree. You are simply clueless.

Diddums. Cheer up - Brendons team hasn't kicked a ball yet and the transfer window is only halfway plus Andy is still a Lfc player. Quit moaning like a b!tch

cozinoz

You are an person. Why didn't you buy LFC and drop 400 million on the team?

FSG don't pick the team, Rodgers does! Obviously Rodgers doesn't feel Carroll has the attributes to play the way Rodgers wants to play, and therefore the reason he maybe sold or loaned out! I would prefer Carroll to stay as I feel he could cause a lot of problems for teams and would be great to use as another option. But if Rodgers doesn't see him in his plans then I see no point in keeping Carroll if we can get a good fee. For you to blame FSG for Rodgers not wanting Carroll is ludicrous! St. Helens Red

How are they treating the young players bad??
How are they only spending 10mil? Borini was 13mil for a start, they will pay under 10mil if that is what the player THE MANAGER wants is valued at, but if THE MANAGER wants a player valued over 10mil they will no doubt give the money to buy said player

Another moaner like a lot of the other so called LFC supporters....if FSG did not step in we could have been a Rangers and dont forget they backed RH and KD so stop the bitching and support our great club

FSG should sell the club fast. They do not have the money to make Liverpool great. They are shopping in oxfam and others are shopping in Harrods. Top 4 has never looked so far away. We are not going anywhere with these rubbish yonks.

I hadn't realized Brendan was a yonk or a yank. Honestly, is it that hard to type American? Really getting tired of seeing somewhat derogatory terms for Americans on here.

Cheers,

I fear he has burned the proverbial bridge. Gutted about this! However, he feel about MU (and there are those that can sympathise with his sentiments), he should not have made the comments he did! John Henry will not be amused ....
Faro08

Suarez speaks the truth. If there's any club that can fight the mancs, it's us. FSG should back him, fl*** what some sponsors think.

Most ridiculous post I've ever seen. Don't worry about what the sponsors think? Really? You do realize that the amount of money contributed by the sponsors is what keeps this club in the Premier League, right? Take that away and say goodbye to Suarez for sure along with most other players on the team and hello to the Championship.

eds dont u think 9.5 million is a bit to much for allen? whats the latest with dempsey and carroll thankyou

afey {Ed022's Note - No latest as of yet.}

Seriously we are talking about one of the better passers in the game full stop.I guarantee if Man city or Arsenal sign him you will be saying i cant believe we did not bid more.To be honest forget the 3-5 million signings as LFC have shown in the past we would pay more then the market for a player .With regards to Allen i think he is worth more and if we get him for less then £15million its a good deal.This is a player that could flourish into a great player.

Totally agree. 9.5 million for a Swansea standout who prior to last year would have cost 500 000. I think this smells of Charlie Adam....

^At last someone has a memory which spans back to last summer!

the team i'd love us to start with next year:

Haven't Arsenal agreed a fee for Niang? I don't see him coming in as much as I would like for it to happen.

I'm finding today really strange on the site, usually a story in the press about our club means the pages are flooded with reaction. Now Suarez has given another interview about Evra where he has blamed Utd for his ban, and stated that the owners have told him not to talkabout the incident.
Given Juve's interest, and his visit to the ground, not to mention the likely hood of Ramirez going there to, I find it strange the talk of him leaving isn't all over here.
And yet walcot is all over here again.
Can I ask one of the Ed's, is Walco coming that more likely that Suarez leaving then? {Ed022's Note - No.}

I think Suarez is leaving based on that interview :)

About a couple of weeks ago I seem to recall droves of people on here complaining about lack of activity at LFC. Let's see what the situation is now.....

Kuyt has left, Maxi has left, we have/did/will/wont sign Ramirez, Borini has signed, Carroll will/wont leave and Ba will/wont come in/wont pass a medical/will maybe be part of a swap deal, Dempsey has signed/hasnt signed, Bellamy seems to be off bk to Cardiff and Allen will/wont sign/cant sign because of the 'agreement'/will need a bid of 10~15 mil to sign him!

So, I think know we can safely say there is activity at LFC now!

2 weeks isn't as long a time to wait as you thought is it?

Swalezee {Ed002's Note - I really don't know what, if any, agreement was reached between Liverpool and Swansea.}

Its not an agreement at all, Rodgers as a rule by himself usually wont take players with him from his old club. Simple as that, i dont think he'll go for Joe Allen til next season, he'll give Henderson, Shelvey, Spearing and Adam a season to prove themselves.

Rocky

What's the point of having a young manager and not backing him financially? Borini at £10m is not backing him, our transfer targets suck, Carroll has been treated like a mug in my opinion. Sit it out boy, he be gone by Christmas....hopefully.

Redlips

How is signing Borini for £10m "not" backing the manager?

The manager has identified a player he wants, and the club have brought him! If that's not backing a manager I don't know what is!

We spent around £10m to bring him in (Compo to Swansea; King Kenny & his staff pay offs) FSG will be happy to back the manager financially if the deal is viable.

RedSG

Clint Dempsey is a class player, he really is. He'll tide us over for a couple of seasons whilst Sterling matures into the senior squad.

Joe Allen is one of those players who's not yet on everyone's radar (until now anyway), and he is truly underrated. I think he'll be a revelation in a red shirt with the likes of Lucas and Gerrard alongside him, and Suarez to take his through balls.

We still won't have strength in depth like City or Chelsea will have, but our first 11 will be a match for pretty much any team.

What backing are u talking about...we spent 35 mil on caroll..20mil on downing..and 16 mil on hendo...and 7 mill on adam...are money being printed in US?..they did backed KK..to a large extent..and KK just made a mess off all these..and u mean to say the Owner should be like Roman..pumping money from all over the place...take a grip bro..we had the money..and we bought s*** out of it...wen we did mistake..we need to correct it...and common..look at our situation now..we have to get the best at what we got...cant demand again FSG to pump another 50 mill on cavani...look at all other clubs ....we had the worst buy in the histiry last season. 4 out of 5 buys were horrible....apart from suarez..has anyone..lived upto expectations??..caroll has been the worse signing in the history..even berbatov score atleast some goals...

Right so you are saying he wasn't rodgers choice, are you sure cos I think he was and if so then they are backing him so your argument is mute

Brendan Rodgers has the full faith of FSG ..they ll not pull their noses in between, but as its seen there s certainly not heavy funds available but am happy for one reason... from what i can see he is getting the players he wants ... he doesn goto second third choices. i have no inside info trust Macca and eds... the names Macca said are getting slashed one by one of the list... and not a new name on the list that he din mention. for that am certainly happy. BUT if his signings work or not lets see. but he is using his brain buying players to play his way and he knows his way.but i think v have to fight for fourth but v ll surely fight for champion league...(silently hope v challenge title)...

Full faith? Friday morning Rodgers said Maxi was staying and a few hours later he was gone. Rodgers is a yes man for FSG. He's small time. Borini exciting? Doubt it. Jamie

Borini is a very good player, plus he's only 21 and a very good finisher

Right lets put this to bed... Ibrahimovic is joining AC Milan, Milan mentioned Andy Carroll basically to force Ibrahimovic to make a decision on his future or they would look for alternative targets. Liverpool will sign two players.

Carlos Despueta - 23 goals in 46 games in a top division side. Full international. 29 year old consistent pro. Works hard.

Javi Alonso - 4 goals in 33 games. Said to be the new iniesta at just 22 years old. Fast and tricky. Works hard.

The above names are spelt wrong. Its Clint Dempsey and Joe Allen, but i guarantee you were more excited by the same player because he had an exotic Spanish name. Stop jumping on the media bandwagon. They are quality signings!

YNWA! (Adam)

Very well done my man! Might get some of these supporters to cop on!

Irish Redman

Alonso having a Spanish name, well I never, just thought he was the bloke from keeping up appearances

I get where you're coming from in terms of people going gee-eyed about the latest flavour of the month in Spain or Italy.

But I still wouldn't want us to pay a lot of money for "Carlos Despueta" because he's 29 and had one prolific season in his entire life It's notthing to do with him being from Texas instead of Teneriefe. He won't be a bad signing, but if he ends up costing something like £10m or £12m he'll have a fairly short window to justify it.

Have no issues with Allen. I think he'll be a good signing.

I said earlier in this transfer window that our targets have been poor. I can't believe we are looking at Dempsey and Allen. We are indeed a mid-table club now, with mid-table targets.

The treatment of Andy Carroll has been terrible too. At least have a look at him. My fear is that Rodgers has been lent on to sell while his stock is still high after the Euro's.. I really want to be positive but I can only see mediocrity on the horizon.. for years we have needed a winger who can commit defenders and cross a ball, like Utd have always had in Giggs,Ronaldo,Nani.

Give the fans a lift FSG.. Clint Dempsey is a good player but can you imagine Utd fans if they signed him.

Gazman

Man united fans are not knowledgable. Especially the ones from outside of Manchester. They were excited by getting Bebe and Anderson. Most of them hadn't even heard of Macheda until he scored for them.

I'll correct you - only very gullible Man U fans were excited about Bebe. Most of the rest did their nut about them signing him when they could've had Ozil for about £3m more.

Whilst the really smart ones knew he wasn't signed for his ability as a player. I'd elabourate, but I don't think the Eds would post it.

As for Anderson, I was actually bricking myself when the signed him, cos he actually looked like a good footballer for his first few months there, and was looking like a half decent attempt to Scholes (in so far as you can replace a player like him). Then he got injured and gained a bit of weight and has been rubbish since.

With Suarez bringing up this Evra saga again, do you think he might be looking for a move? As he was told by directors of the club this should never be brought up again! This will surely make directors un happy!
Thoughts
Matt

Hi Matt.

translation of these interviews are very often way off the mark, due to words a Uragyuan may use to describe the way we use a word. Add that to the fill in the missing spaces mindset by journos, and you get pretty much chinese whispers affect.
Suarez was asked on the subject, and TBH i think he still feels hard done by on this. Club have warned him to keep quiet, and get on with football.
I dont see it as a speech for him engineering a move, as it would put off any suitors, more of IMO " i feel like i have to say something here".
Ok, he has over elaborated on the "conspiracy" part, but is he far from the truth?

Personally i now fear this may force FSG/Sponsor to react.
Or they may fully back him, slap his wrists and let him show how he can personally come back from this.
Piddy.

Hey ED's, can you shed any light on the clubs stance in relation to Stewart Downing and Charlie Adam? Do you know whether Rodgers intends to include one or both players in his plans for the season ahead or whether the club are activitley sounding out potential buyers for the 2 players?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - I don't know, sorry.}

18 Jul 2012 12:55:43
would so called lfc fans stop hating on suarez for speaking the truth ....if you are a real liverpool fan you will know everything suarez has said is correct ....whiskey nose set us up a kipper ...fact!...and if you cannot see it go and play piano with stevie wonder

I actually agree that handshake incident wasn't as clear cut as it seemed at the time.

Evra withdrew and lowered his hand a bit. Now I don't think it was a case that he had no intention of shaking Suarez's hand, I think he just hesitated for a second as to whether he would or not, and Suarez didn't wait, when perhaps he should have. Instead, he said to himself "Sod ya, then" and moved on, after which point Evra grabbed his arm, making it look like Suarez was the one who snubbed him.

That said, he opened his mouth and said something he shouldn't have in the first place. And after the handshake incident, the club CLEARLY decided it was best to let it go. And Suarez, as an employee of the club, needs to respect that. I love the guy and I want him to stay, but he has to stop talking about it. End of.

Wasn't Kenny as real as true lfc supporter gets and suarez made him look silly.

I love this club but do not want to support a players actions no matter what they did? thats just blind and stupid

I really believe Suarez playing left of a front three next year will be better than any signing. All these names flying about that we may sign isn't really exciting me but this really does. If you think of the goals he's score from that angle, stoke in the cup, tangling the mancs in knots and the pearler he curled in in the world cup. I would put money on him being top goal scorer next season of he's played there. All these silly posts on here go without this way of thinking come on lads lets sort it out

Owenll

If he's still here (and I hope is will be) then I agree. But he's had some crackers from the right too.

18 Jul 2012 12:49:21
I've seen rumours on SSN about Watford being interested in Vincenzo Iaquinta. Although he is 32, surely he can do better than Watford? Would be a great back up striker in my opinion....

18 Jul 2012 12:43:43
I totally agree with alot of poeple that £10m for dempsey is too much. i rate him at 6-8m but fulham want a little more as compensation for losing him now! otherwise they are prepared to wait it out a year and tempt him to stay on. im not sure if we should sign allen this summer, maybe nxt yr. i do think walcott could be nice addition with his pace and we can sort out the wontcross bit! lol. but, if wenger wants too much for him then affelay and other cheaper options would be a better alternative as we could find some little gems hidden!

Although I would not be too displeased with signing Allen and Dempsey I am quite unhappy about the figures being quoted for both.

I think Comolli must take a lot of the blame for clubs thinking we can pay silly money for players after he spent extortionate sums last year on the likes of Downing and Henderson.

Let's hope we don't have to live with this legacy for too long.

We were paying extortionate fees for player's long before Comolli... Johnson for £17 mil, Aquilani for £18 mil. Stop trying to play the blame game when your knowledge clearly only stretches about 1 year back. Plastic fan.

Why do you think oher clubs are going to hand over their best players on the cheap. These are the market values for these players. Henderson was a 21 year old England internaional, if he is still playing for us at 31, £20m will be a bargain, as will Allen.
Dempsey at £8-10m is a different matter.

Robbie Keane 20m........the list goes on

cozinoz

Maybe it may be better for us if we lose the "big club" tag- other clubs may not hold us to ransom as much

Why are you so sure Suarez will still be here?

Talk sport saying that fulham havent recieved a bid for clint dempsey and hes looking at signing a new contract? Thoughts eds?

Woozlfc28 {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that there have been discussions and both parties expect a deal to be sorted out. There is still interest in Dempsey from elsewhere.}

18 Jul 2012 12:34:32
If we are willing to pay around 10 million for Dempseywould that not be contrary to the idea of not recruiting older players due to lack of sell on value. He's not much younger than Kuyt yet we let him go for next to nothing. I seriously doubt how much revenue would come from the us market given that soccer aint huge over there. I know it's more compkex than that, but it need not be unnecessarily complex either. Simple econonics Mr Henry. I really think we need someone like David dein at the club to do this business.

18 Jul 2012 12:34:22
This is for those people who are concerned about Dempsey coming to LFC due to his age etc etc. I could well be wrong but he still has at least 2-4 years left in him and if he continues his scoring record of late, then surely LFC will have a better chance of getting into Europe?

We get into Europe, then maybe, just maybe we can attract some of the other players you say you would prefer to have at LFC? If he can help us in that respect (which i think he can for sure) then £10+ million well spent

Gareth

Gareth I think you'll find your on the wrong site common sense like that was done away with on here a long time ago ;-)

18 Jul 2012 12:32:26
How likely is a Carroll/Ba exchange. I mean Carroll is younger and has more potential than Ba. Demba has a chronic knee issue and will be heading off to the ACON in January. If we do need to accept a trade offer then Newcastle have better options than Ba i.e. Cisse (ACON is factor also), Ben-Arfa, Cabaye or Santon.
Scouse_Pride

West ham have dropped out, and Carrol only wants to go back home because of the way this has been handled again.
With us stuck with an unhappy player, and they are the only ones he will want to go to, why will they have to offer anyone they want to keep? they are in the strong bargaining position.

Hi Eds

I would like to offer a brief rant for the attention of all the trolls and negs out there if you dont mind. I've snapped this morning reading some of these posts.....

"YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE"

This is our clubs motto. It translates roughly as 'we will always be by your side suporting you'. This is what Liverpool supporters do. Back its club no matter what. Through the wind and the rain to an eventual golden sky. We are a proud group of supporters who have a true identity and are proud of our club. We are also famous for being educated (football wise!) and loyal.

However, Ive snapped this morning when I read yet another negative rant from a supporter slating our new manager before he has even had an opportunity to complete a full transfer window, let alone a game or even a season.

Sorry to use you as an example Noel at 10:55 as there are many more like you, but it was your post that made me snap!

But the thing that really gets me is the use of our club motto in vein.

Everyone has an opinion. Its a free country. But please, if you are going to slate our club and those who represent it, please dont have the nerve to add YNWA after your name, because your not fit to utter those words.

The blues are supposed to be the bitter ones, but now im not so sure.

lets get a grip and back our club, its new manager (with exciting philosophies) and its staff.

Rant over. YNWA

Red G

Best rant all week red G. 100% agree with the sentiments of your post.

BigBadBen

Not a bad point of view - so why is there so much speculation about Saurez - he seems to be walking alone as far as FSG are concerned, although it is only the media saying that. And let's be honest, whether you liked Dalglish's transfer dealings, the names being mentioned that we are after are certainly no better than what we have, if they play to the form they are capable of, which they didn't do for Kenny.
Allen - certainly no better than what we already have.
Dempsey - had the season of his life, whilst Downing, Adam and Carroll had seasons they are unlikely to have again.

So off you go again, have another rant, unfortunately some reds fans are getting worse than the bitters - I let other people use my 2 season tickets at the moment because of the vitriol towards our own players from people around me on the Kop, it started with Lucas and I argued every game that the boy was class, the attitude just got too much for me - on the Kop in the 60's every one who wore the shirt was a God to be revered not booed.

If we had dempsey last year we would well be in the CL with the form he was in lads. Also not to happy with the way BR is handling the hole Carroll thing the lad is a handfull and when fancy football doesn't work as it didn't for barca and swansea last year then you need a lad like Carroll to shake it up could be the difference between top four and not. FSG have so far changed the club back sort off to the old ways but let's see where they go I think they have there heads screwd on . Let's not forget the mess they cleaned up after the last shower.
JJ

BR is not handling the " Carroll " thing, as far as the club appear to be concerned - there is no Carroll thing. All media speculation and guesswork, and trouble causing by other teams wanting to get him on the cheap.

Br said he had a chat with AC and he knows where he stands. if you ask me that is good handling, then to say fancy football doesn't work is sheer stupididty. Swansea were expected to go down and yet they finished mid table.i would view that as a success, spain won the last 3 major tournaments in a row playing fancy football and barca are still regarded as one of the best teams ever and guess what, they play fancy football. a few kicks of a ball and barca would've won another treble and we'ed all be saying how great they are. i'm not saying it will definitely work but to say it doesn't is madness, besides it will work a hell of a lot more than hoofing balls up to andy carroll.

So its pretty obvious that Suarez wants out of Anfield. He had been ordered not talk of the Evra situation again. FSG were extremely angry with him when it happened and he nearly cost them millions in sponsorship deals. Now he has brought up the whole thing again. FSG will surely sell him now and it looks like he wants the move, Obviously he knew they would not be happy. Brendan Rodgers has said he had a few good chats with Suarez but Suarez himself or his people havnt once said that he is happy here. Bye Bye Luis, Thanks for bringing shame on our club and thanks for nothing. Graham ynwa

Fool, the las was asked a question during an interview, said nothing controversial - all Saurez has done is tell the truth, and if because of it we lose our only world class player, then there really is nothing down for us as a club - none of the other BIG clubs would do it. Stop beiing so bloody righteous, the aim of this club is to be successful on the field by winning trophies - getting rid of our only world class player for telling the truth is not going to help doing that.

Did Demento get rid of Cantona when he should have been arrested for an assault on a fan - NO, will Chelsea get rid of Terry - NO. FSG are too bloody sensitive, we are a football team that needs to win football matches, we'll have a much better chance of that with Luis Saurez.

Mountain and molehill come to mind.

Did the owners not learn anything last year, talk of 15m for Joe Allen and 10m for Clint Dempsey. Is Allen better than Kagawa or Marin? Chelsea got Marin for about 7m. If Dempsey was 25 and had 2+ years left on his contract then maybe his value would be 15m but he is 29 and in the last year of his contract. Those two factors should reduce his value by at least 50%. Last year we overpaid by 25m on Carroll, Hendo and Downing and now we are doing the same again.

So are you suggesting kagawa and marin would've turned down a move to united and chelsea to sign for liverpool ?

Fulham have denied receiving a bid from Liverpool for striker Clint Dempsey, after the Merseysiders' owners published an article on their website in which they suggested the American had joined the club.

Dempsey's name has now been removed from the Fenway Sports Group web post.

Hang on a sec people, I've just checked, All it says on the NESN.com site is various news agencys reporting Liverpool are CLOSE to completing the signing of Clint Dempsey, NOT he has signed.
Although its quite clear we are in for him, calm down people he's not signed yet, it will be announced on the LFC website first.

Pat search for his name on site and read the second to bottom link. That was the original sentence before they edited Dempsey out!!

HI( EDS) According to various sources Liverpool F.C. Swansea and Fulham have not received any bids for their players. Allen and Dempsey. Yet FSG are claiming the deal for Dempsey is complete. Other media sources claiming the transfer is almost done.
Do any of the EDS know what's true and not true?
Thanks for your time guys.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of the situation with Allen but there has been some discussion with Fulham. No deal is complete at this time.}

I am sure the Eds will be delighted to read on the official club web site that LFC is to open a family friendly area in the Anfield Road end of the ground. I would like to ask are there any rumours you heard about Afeally,Adam Johnson,Christian Tello in a move to LFC?
Also, is there any chances for Edin Cavani? Although it seems impossible, he is really a fans favourite!

i love suarez, i think hes one of the best players in the world, i just wish he would think before he speaks! his latest interview is sure to get him in more trouble, i understand him being annoyed with what happened to him, just wish he would let it go, i have a horrible feeling ed02's prediction may come true!

The thought of losing him makes me feel sick. BR's task is going to b hard enough, but without Suarez I think I will be nigh on impossible. If he stays (I hope to God he does), I think he will have a monster of a season for us.

I have to say, I can understand why he still wants to try to clear his name - he constantly has cr*p thrown at him by the media, and under the same circumstances, I would be wanting to answer questions on it myself. I hope it doesn't land him in it.

If the reports are true that we have agreed a 10m pound fee for Dempsey, I personally am amazed for an ageing player with a very short period remaining on his contract that we would be willing to part with such a
Sum.

If we put in a bid of 15m for Allen, Rodgers will prove to be as clueless as Daglish. I thought after last year we would have learnt that these over priced, over hyped, over rated British players playing for mid table teams are not the answer. Borini played for a good Italian team and scored goals for them, which shows he is capable at a good level. Allen and Dempsey have stood out for one season in mid table premier league sides. If we are willing to pay that much for Allen, a player pretty similar to a lot of our current midfield players, then why haven't we put in a proper bid for Ramirez (1m more) who is a class above and the type of player we desperately need in our midfield (skillful playmaker). A midfield of Lucas Gerrard Allen has no flair or trickery, however Lucas Gerrad Ramirez looks far more menacing - a very good holding player in lucas, a long ball/killer pass specialist in Gerrard, and a skillful player with great dribbling ability in Ramirez = ticks all boxes.
Now I know we haven't signed him yet and this could all be speculation, but if we are supposedly willing to pay this or anything over 10m Allen, we should really reconsider, 6m or maybe 8m should be maximum for a player of his standard.

RDR

You have obviously not seen Allen play.
The lad is a fabulous player and would make a massive difference to our team.

Does ramirez want to come to Liverpool? Otherwise there are many players i'd rather see than Allen but they wouldn't join us just yet. Allen is very young though and full of promise..if BR gets it right and in 3-4 years time he world class, well then he did a great deal

Been told that FSG are ready to cash in on Luis Suarez now too. They had been prepared to keep him, Rodgers was the main reason behind this. But FSG will go above his head and sanction a deal, most likely to Juve for in and around the 25 million mark. At this stage they just want him out of the club, and are willing to agree what would come across as a generous fee to Juve.

LFC to look to replace him with a namesake, Matias Suarez.

IMO I would be happy enough about the sale of Luis. Good player, but with serious behavioural issues. Can't keep his mouth shut. Can't be trusted. Flog him now when he still has value.

How the f**k can any Liverpool fan want to get rid of our only world class player - been a massive backer of FSG getting us out of the c**p, Saurez reacted to that over hyped Evra (proven liar by the FA the year previous) - and all he has done now is tell the truth that Utd run English football - everybody has known that for years - ask Mike Riley and Howard Webb.

If Saurez goes it will spell disaster for this club, not one decent player will come to us again, and I will start believing that FSG are not the right and proper people to continue in charge.

This is the first time I've been critical of the current regime, hoping they would think about the football, but if any rumours are to be believed - Dempsey 10 million, Allen 15 million - and selling Carroll at a 20 million pound loss - I will have to almost agree with the doom mongers on here that it will be a struggle. And we will start to be known as a selling club - we can't keep hold of are supposed world class players - Torres, Alonso, Mascherano and they are only the recent ones

John B

If that was the case they wouldnt be announcing it its very dodgy indeed he all of a sudden speaks out for no reason i read the interview he didnt say much

Ed049, your funny arent you... At least I am giving more insight into going ons around the club than you are. Never seen you with anything valuable to add.

Now back to what I was saying, Suarez WILL leave. FSG ARE fed up with him. He will be touted around clubs especially Juve and Palermo, PSG also but cant see them being interested personally after signing Ibrahimovic and Lavezzi. Basically FSG want him out. It is likely to run and run all summer, especially with Suarez wanting to concentrate on the Olympics. We will see who was right come the end of the transfer window.

Tom, I am disapointed in your criticism of ED049. Totally uneccessary and childish. It is you isnt it Mr Werner, or how else would you know the inner workings and thoughts of FSG/LFC?

18 Jul 2012 11:17:42
I think some people on here need to take a step back, take a deep breath and relax. People calling for Brendans head before he has even played a single match baffle me. We would all love to be shining big money players but i really don't believe we are in a position to do that. We are rebuilding, we can't offer silly wages and the lack of CL football will not help. That's why we need to back the manager and his brand of football. And more importantly, we need to back his decisions in relation to signings. He knows the type of player he needs..i don't, you don't so give him a chance. And can we all relax in relation to big Andy..at the moment its pure speculation. If he moves on, all the best to him. If he stays, Im sure it's because the manager sees his worth and that Andy is committed to working harder to fit into his system. So sit back relax and if things aren't goin swimmingly in the first few weeks, chill because i have faith it will. Back your team, the team you profess to love. Lets get back to being the best supporters in the world.

hi eds do you think suarez will still be here next season after the interview he gave about the whole evra saga? {Ed002's Note - We'll see.}

18 Jul 2012 11:15:20
i know this will sound like i know nothing but seriously if we need more forwards , why spend 18 million or so on walcott when mirallas has a buy out clause of 6.4 million and affelay has been told he is not in barcelonas plans and is allowed to leave for 4 million euros(3.1million) , thats not even spending ten million and getting two crafty wingers who can score goals and create them , would be great business getting either one , whats your opinion , great site btw am never off it

You have logic.
I'm sure if we don't, Newcastle will snap up one of them for peanuts, and we will be slating the manager for not signing them and instead buying an over-rated, overpaid Englishman, who is half as good

Yip newcastle snaped up that great player last year b4 us how many games did he play if u dont no the ins an outs of a player dont say we are to slow to pick them up we will get how we get

Newcastle have tabled a 4million euros
(£3.15million) offer for FC Twente defender Douglas.

Another bargain for them!

I dont understand how Newcastle can buy so many foreign players but yet still quality for the English Players quota? I dont really know many English players that play for Newcastle. But that's their problem.

Hi Eds great site mate, i've thought out who our main buying and selling targets are!
Players in -
Dempsey - £9m
Allen - £13
Mirrallas - £12m
Kjaer - £10m
Total - £44
Players out -
Kuyt - £1m
Maxi - Free (Unfortunately)
Skrtel - £16m (Hopefully not!)
Downing - £12m (Just a name)

Thanks edds really hope you post this!

Why offer £12m for Mirallas when he has a £6.4m buy out clause in his contract?!

18 Jul 2012 11:01:42
Dempsey is a very good
player but I find it hard to believe we are
prepared to pay £10m considering his
age and contractual situation - £7m
would perhaps be more acceptable.

18 Jul 2012 10:52:27
Hello Ed002,
is it wise to spend over 10-15m on Allen?thanks {Ed002's Note - Swansea will not let him leave cheaply - as to whether or not it is wise I really don't know.}

I think, to see wheter its a 'wise move' you should compare to Jordan Henderson. Natural position for both players is in the centre of the park, both are 22 and proved they have massive potential. We paid £16 million for Henderson and he did ok for his first season considerin he was played out of position for most part, but we know what he can do in his natural position ona good day. Allen was one of the best players in a Swansea kit last season and a stand out performer, i dont think 10-15 million is a bad price for Allen myself, but only Rodgers will know for sure.

If Carroll is to go do you think BR has a player lined up? Surely he would not get rid of a player to leave us short with out bringing someone in? Has there been any additional names mentioned bar the usual suspects?

18 Jul 2012 10:50:38
Allen looks a very very decent player , quick great on the ball the ability to keep short neat passing , but if pressured then ability to to beat the player wit skill and keep the ball , can dribble and good shot while playing box to box , would be a really good signing for us! Just a question for the great ed's tho ! Do ye think we would really need adam or spearing or hendoif Allen was to sign? just think myself that we are very heavy in numbers in mid field now , great work eds and don't mind the person's who some times post and waste yer time !

I think it's very possible that Adam could be going.

Iker Minoan will sign for Liverpool once Andy Carroll is sold! I really don't want Carroll to go but munian would be a crack-a-lacking signing! Haha oh and Dempsey is a done deal! Not to convinced about all joe Allen rumours tho. Great site eds please post!

Hi Ed's, in these situations such as the one regarding Carrol when it becomes likely that players are to be offered in a deal to take our player to another club are we entitled to say 'this is the player we want from you' or is it most likely that the other club are saying 'this is the player we are offering' ? and with that said do u think that demba ba is the most likely to be involved in the deal (if one is struck) or is there any chance liverpool will push for someone like hatem ben arfa for for eg ?
Thanks, Chris-Leigh. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool could ask for a player - it is simply negotiation.}

18 Jul 2012 09:09:30
Hi Eds love the site, i heard earleir today Barcelona are renewing their interest in Agger, Do you think we will be able to hold him from joining Barcelona if they went formal? Do you think we will keep our defense in tact this season, first half of last year we had the best defense in the league.

Thanks
{Ed002's Note - I don't know to be honest.}

18 Jul 2012 08:37:39
Hi Eds, can i ask what you think is happening at lfc, carroll leaving (maybe) suarez leaving (defo) Kuyt gone, maxi gone, aurelio gone, spearing maybe gone, there seems to be some good signings coming in, Allen, Borini, Dempsey, but we are still going to be short on fire power, a proven striker, a play maker a right sided winger, and a defensive midfilder, im hoping the kids will get moved up for those that can but it just seems we are falling behind all the other top teams again? I know that we are going to be rebuilding slowly but to sell half the team and not replace them is getting a bit confusing as its going to take another season to gel alot of players and we all saw what happened last year? Thanks Ah97

Eds, a very curious man here, how do you rate Douglas Costa and Willian from shakhtar? I know we "may" have looked at them but like you eds always stress, it doesn't mean anything will come of it. I heard Willian wouldn't come cheap but how much would these players be worth and are the prices fair?
Thanks mate,

It says on the fenway sports group homepage that dempsey has signed? Whats happnin?

I think it might just be a 'report'? The same way Liverpool have media gossip on their website, but doesn't actually represent the club?

I think it's a hint though that Dempsey will be joining us soon. Surely it wouldn't be on their website if it was complete BS?

Thanks, Ell.

Slightly premature what's written on the FSG page and perhaps a little naughty, but Dempsey has agreed personal terms and will be a Liverpool player by the Roma game.

So we can now add Luuk De Jong to the list of players we have missed out on, He has just signed for Munchengladbach. So we've missed out on Luuk De Jong, Jackson Martinez, Nick Powell, Mo Diame, Solomon Kalou, Gylfi Siggurdsson, Steven Davis, Steven Caulker.

We have no chance of signing Munian, Ramirez, Walcott.

We spent 11m on Fabio Borini. He has played 33 games in 4 seasons. He only has 16 minutes of International football and people are going on as if he has the credintials of Del Pierro.

Is Rodgers trusted with making transfer decisions? On Friday morning he said he expected Maxi to stay. a few hours later and MAxi had signed for Newells Boys.

He also classed Borini as ''exciting''. He's not.

Joe Allen and Clint Dempsey are not good enough.

And now we're letting Carroll go.

What is going on with our club?

Noel YNWA

Calm down Borini is an exciting signing, Allen is pure class just because he's welsh and not spanish? don't let that fool you? giggs, bellamy,rush,hughes etc there's been loads of great Welsh players down the years and Allen is going to be right up there with them. Dempsey is a first class pro and great at what he does.
And all this for much less than £40m?
I'm really excited and can't wait for the season to start.
kidmillions

Come on Noel, start supporting the club rather than bleat completely incorrect negative rubbish (in my opioion!).

We have not missed out on any of the players you mention (apart from Siggurdson, when BR commendably stuck to his guns), because WE HAVE NOT TRIED TO SIGN ANY OF THEM!

Just because their names get mentioned on this site, does not mean we are trying to sign them and that we have missed them if they go somewhere else!!

For you to quote YNWA after your name after a rant at our club like that is actually quite disrespectful in my eyes and completely contradictory to your attitude.

Steven Davis FFS!! As if we tried to sign him but missed out to Southampton!

I'll tell you whats happening with our club.... its correcting previous mistakes and not flashing cash on expensive players we are likely to get lumbered with for years to come.

Come on mate, lets back our club.

Whats happening to LFC is clear, unfortunately us supporters will see the fruits of Rogers next season.

Noel... Time for a lesson... I don't even have to explain why... Jeez.

Stone YNWA.

STFU- go support city or chelsea if you want to support a squad full of exiting names on massive wages.

I have full respect for BR with the way he is conducting our business, no more throwing silly money away on average players.

changa

Don't you dare put YNWA after that dpiteful whinny post! Borini averages a goal every 2 games for his career which is better than Carroll (1 every 4) How many international minutes had carroll played when we spent 35m on him? Iwouldn't think too much! And Allen is in the top 6 in pass completion in Europe not to mention being only 22 aswell! Clint Dempsey 4th top scorer in the league last season.....FROM A MIDFIELDER so how about you cop on to yourself andsee that we are getting great value. Personally I hope we keep AC as he showed his talent at the end of the season but if Rodgers doesn't think he fits in the squad we should sell the lad and let him play football. Besides 11 goals in 56 games isn't a great return....

Clint Dempsey is a much better player than Carroll. Everyone was hating Carroll a few months ago and now after a few good performances he is class. U sound deluded, get behind the manager if he believes Carroll doesn't fit in with his style of play then so be it. You give us a bad reputation. U have slated players before we even have them. Ltp

How did we miss out on these players when we didnt even go for them , get a grip.....steve

Person! How do you know we missed out on these players? As far as i can tell we have not bid for any of them so cant have missed out on them. Im sure BR has targets in mind and to say that Dempsey and Allen arent good enough is a joke. With Dempseys goals last season we may well have made the top 4 and Allen is one of the best young players in the premier league. Try supporting rather than whinging!

There are a lot more names than that who we 'missed out on'. That's because either we, or they, were not interested. Grow up

You have no idea of what you're talking about.

Noel did you really want the likes of Kalou, Davis and arguably Diame for starters?

Honestly i would much rather have Dempsey, who i believe scores a hell of a lot more goals than Kalou and year in and out is pretty consistent.

Sig didnt want to sign for us, but do you honestly wish Rodgers had backed down to being bullied into paying more than he was happy to pay? Would you feel he could be trusted more if he could be bullied by a single player who while good has a lot to prove?!

gareth

Person poster. Half, no more than half those players we were never interested in, so how have we missed out on them.

Really when you say we missed out on Kalooser you lost all credability. He is appalling, not good enough for top 6 let alone top 4.

And even if AC does improve losing him will make us worst than last season, as he was poor for the majority of it.

redphil

Were we ever really interested in all the players you have named,,also you say joe allen not good enough but have listed powell as missed out on?? is he really that good

Yes Noel. We have a crap manager to follow the failure we had before, who took over from an absolute rubbish manager, who was appointed to put right all the mistakes by that Spainsh bloke. We never buy the good players we only buy absolute trash at way over their value. Hopefully we can get rid of this manager by Christmas and appoint another incompetent to really make things even worse. I don't know how much further my club can sink so I will just go back to join you with your half-empty glass. You need to lighten up a bit mate.

Noel, interesting that you put YNWA at the end of this garbage, because clearly you do walk alone.

K

What is going on with our club?

Impatient imbeciles like you started supporting it who have nothing better to do than criticise every aspect of the club because you feel you know better than the people running it.

You make a list of players who have signed for other clubs and say we missed out on them but we didn't bid for any of them. The only player we showed any interest in was Sigurdsson and Rodger's turned his back on the deal when it became too expensive.

Do yourself a favour and look-up what YNWA means before adding to your sign-off.

JRG

I think Rodgers was never in for more than half the players you mentioned; it was all speculation.

Still sore about Sigurdsson? What part of 'Rodgers know his market value and not prepared to pay more' you don't understand?

Maxi has always wanted to leave because his family never settled here, plus his lack of games so he chose to leave.

You are disappointed we are not getting Ramirez, yet dished the signing of Rodgers... have you seen both of them play? Rodgers knows Borini well enough and believe he can deliver. You believe Ramirez is quality just because every one else said so? And don't get me started on Walcott... 100K pounds/week -he's not a footballer, he's an extortionist!

Joe Allen and Clint Dempsey not good enough - again you haven't seen them play at all. Everyone else see their quality except your own myopic vision.

Rodgers' players is defined by his tactics - that's why he'd rather cut losses with Carroll, free up wages and bring someone who fit the system he wants us to play.

What's going on with our club? So many things happening - only WUMs like you don't get it

Thanks m8. I'd say quite a few people were wondering - and just waiting on someone to mention it - lol. Myself included.

As an aside. It's good to see Danny Wilson out in the US. I've always liked his style. Agger & Skrtel is a great pairing at CD - and with Wilson along with Coates & Kelly already at the club - it's great to know that we already have replacing Carra sorted.

Arguably the best selection of CD's of any team in the league imo - great depth.

Red PG

Sign him please, just what we need and for 3m this is an ABSOLUTE NO BRAINER! Should make him our 2nd signing!

Jeez - Barca are very broke - their debt levels really seem to be soaring - and with such a small squad, their future seems rather precarious imo.... Their only saving grace is their academy.

Madrid should just go all-out with a £200m bid for Messi. They're just about crazy enough to try it too!

Barca would have be tempted. lol.

18 Jul 2012 10:41:51
Apologies for the copy and paste:

Brendan Rodgers is on the brink of bolstering his Liverpool strike force after agreeing a £10million fee for versatile Fulham forward Clint Dempsey.

The new manager expects the deal to be concluded before the end of the week and sees it as a significant breakthrough after his recent frustration over Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Convinced Sigurdsson would join him at Anfield after the attacking midfielder's successful loan spell at Swansea last season, Rodgers was dismayed when Tottenham beat him to the punch

Sigurdsson even flew to Germany earlier this summer and pleaded with Markus Babbel to let him link up with Rodgers on a permanent basis. Yet when the Hoffenheim manager sanctioned an £8m permanent transfer, Sigurdsson chose White Hart Lane.

It left Rodgers short of attacking options, particularly with Andy Carroll available to anyone willing to meet a £20m asking price, but he has wasted no time in finding a remedy in the form of Dempsey.

The 29-year-old has an impressive scoring record, as a striker or attacking midfielder, and is due on Merseyside to complete the formalities in the next few days.

I must say I would love Ben Arfa in a swap, but I really don't see that happening.

Would there be any chance in getting Cisse in the carroll deal? Isn't ba slightly injury prone? Also he had a much better season as a lone striker for Newcastle, but when they played with both Cisse and ba up front are moved ba to the side in an almost 3 upfront he seemed less effective in matches, not the best option IMO, what's everyone else's views?

Not a rant rather a concern, as I love the site and the work the Eds do, but where are all the rumours gone from the site? It's predominantly questions to the Eds, rate the chance of signing out of ten and abuse against other comments. Where have all the crazy rumours gone and why do they get so heartily slagged off when they do come through? I have questions galore and check the site in eager anticipation every day, but I think the incessant hounding of the Eds is getting tedious and repetitive to what should be a fun place for rumour banter and hearsay. More "I've just seen Clint Dempsey eating a sausage roll in the Beatle museum followed by two men in LFC garb, so it looks nailed on!" please!

It seems there will be a never ending stream of 'fans' coming here to simply slag off the Club, the Manager, Players, EDs and anyone else who happens to get caught in the crossfire.

Not a ball kicked yet, but we seem, in their 'opinion', to be heading for mid table or lower, and BR & FSG haven't got a clue.

These ultra defensive, somewhat fragile and precious souls, always demand they have a right to express their 'opinion', come what may.

Whilst it would be refreshing for supporters to support the club (which is why perhaps we're called 'supporters' ?), we do after all live in a fairly democratic society where freedom of speech is a fundamental right.

So it might be interesting to consider the actual definition of 'opinion' from the Dictionary:

"A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof"

I think the final part kind of says it all!!

Could he honestly be that stupid though?

The question BR is likely to be asking himself is whether or not a player of Carroll's profile would ever play for Barcelona? The simple answer to this is no. The question for the critic is whether or not BR should hang onto Corroll for the transition period between our current style of play and the tiki-taka style of Barcelona he ultimately wants to implement. Either way Carroll unfortunately doesn't have a future at Liverpool.

The other question BR could be asking himself is how to get the biggest return from the sale of Carroll? Sell the player this summer or, loan him out for the season in the hope that he has a great season and this time next year a bidding war would ensue.

Borini's situation when he left Chelsea is very similar to Rossi's when he left United. Similar kind of forward, Rossi wasnt given a chance, left and made a total success out of himself before he got injured this year. We got ourselves a little steal IMO

There is much speculation an conjecture on this site.
The results will speak for themselves when the season begins.

With Carroll going. Agger being targeted by Real Madrid and the Suarez situation very uncertain.

Those results will be interesting.......

borini and dempsey done..looks like allen and kevin mirallas are on the line..so for 40 million we may get 4 top notch players..if we sell a few fringe players + carroll we may go for another top striker..i would be happy with that..

NESN.com stating Dempsey on his way to LFC! Don't know whether to believe that or not.

Have never seen Kevin Mirallas play, but his stats look very good and the £6.4m fee could be worth a punt especially as we are light in that position.

There is no movement on Gaston Ramirez to anyone as yet. Still a Bologna player and no agreement with anyone at this stage due to their 20m euro demands. I think we will make a bid should anyone else make a acceptable offer to Bologna.

Just wondered if anyone else thinks (as i do) that if Carroll really is, or feels like he is being pushed out the door why he would want to fight for his place?

I respect him a lot and think he is being treated unfairly, if all rumours are true, but i know if that was me i would probably wish to play for someone else and prove LFC wrong

gareth

I would like Carroll to stay but from Rodger's point of view, if he wants to bring in players that he feels will strengthen the team and fit into his system, but hasn't got much money to spend, then he needs to look at the players at his disposal who may not fit his system and who he can sell for the most money.

Unfortunately for Carroll he would be top of that list. I don't think it is his ability on the ball that is in question, but it is his willingness to close the opposition down quickly when possession is lost.

Suarez is a great player but honestly if he cannot keep his mouth shut, its either got to be a deliberate ploy to stir things up so he can move, or he is blindly stupid.
I'm sorry but much as we need him and i rate him i think we should seriously think about getting rid.

I know you'll all going to flame me and say i'm mad, but i think he was a big part of Kenny's downfall (even if not publicised), and if that is true he obviously does not care about anyone but himself. He is not accountable for anything he has said or done, and i doubt he cares about being loyal to someone and a team that defended him one little bit!

Sorry i know i am ranting but that guy! Great as he is i do not think he is a Liverpool type player in terms of his attitude.

Sorry, i'll calm down now and probably realise i am being a little black and white

gareth

It's clear that the whole issue is still gnawing at Luis, which is understandable given the circumstances particularly if he did nothing wrong. To take one persons word over another with no true corroborating evidence set a dangerous precedent, and I think that Luis believes if the positions were reversed i.e. a Utd player 'abusing' anyone else, the verdict would have been very different. That's a point of view with some merit, but still he should have kept it in house at this stage of the game. Ulsterpool

You could have finished your post with a more appropriate phrase ; )

I agree that I think this interview is an effort to force a move. This is the second time he has let the club down. Dalglish promised the media that Suarez would shake Evra's hand but was left looking silly when Suarez refused.

Suarez was then told to not talk about the Evra case by the club and he has now done this interview.

JRG

I don't think it's a question of not thinking of, or caring for anyone else. Or even trying to orchestrate a move away. I think he feels genuinely aggrieved at what happened and wants to clear his name in his native language. Especially the handshake. As it was spun differently to how it actually happened by most, if not all, of the British media. Along with the pantomime style actions of other key people on the day. It also seems to have been perceived wrongly by many, some on here too.
If you were wronged in a very public way and your character and name was wrongly portrayed, would you not want to clear it and set the record straight? I believe very strongly about standing up for yourself when you have been wronged by someone or something. Especially something as serious as this. I do feel he went a little too far with the whole Utd conspiracy stuff though.
People also have to remember how the media twist stories like this as well, even though I am not sure it is the case in this instance. If I were a football manager and a reporter asked me what I thought of a player (RVP for example) and I said I liked him as a player there would then be a story of how I wanted or was trying to sign RVP.

Oh, and one last thing. There is no black and white, just many shades of grey.

Robbo JPR

The guy has a right under free speech to say what he wants regards the whole Evra telling pork pies... Also, ...apparently, Rio and Anton will refuse to shake the hand of Terry before a match. DOUBLE STANDARDS ANYONE?? Remember the press coverage of when EVRA didn't shake Suarez' hand? THEN we'll see the FA and Press for what they REALLY are, which is on the Pay-Roll of Alex 'Whiskey Nose' Ferguson and the Man United Board, because i'll guarantee you, NOTHING will happen, maybe 1 line in the papers, that'll be about it. Just watch this space. And let me remind you all: Rio Ferdinand = Drugs Cheat. NEVER FORGET THAT. So... Rio... don't go given it large about alleged 'Racism' you clown. Anyways, rant over, I've taken my meds.

Stevie.

Although the handshake did not happen Suarez didn't refuse the handshake. It appears you have been duped as well.

Joe Allen is a cracking player and we desperately need him. So we will hopefully pay whatever. Never interested in the finances just want the player.

Try Ba and either £10m or £13m for Carroll.

That would be good business as Ba scores goals and links up play well and we get rid of Carroll

hey eds,

ace site and read twice a day. once in morning and last thing at night. What's your opinion on this issue with Suarez back in the papers about the evra row. He's obviously been told to be quiet. Do you think that will be the final straw with Fsg. I love the guy but for ffs shut up. {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

Hi has not said anything just the truth. It's easy for us to say shut up, but his labeled as racist. {Ed002's Note - Nobody has called him a racist.}

What makes me laugh is that Suarez speaks to someone about the incident in Uruguay and then the papers here say he's re-ignited the row. Pay no attention to the papers, their just soulless cretins.

Absolutely not shut up, all he appears to have said is whatever Utd wan - they get - someone needs to speak up about the power Demento wields in the English game - be interesting to see what happens to Ferdinand and his inappropriate tweets - will be a major surprise if anything does - well done Luis for speaking up ( that's if you did ).

Let's see what the FA do now about the John Terry trial, where both he and Anton admitted to inappropriate and offensive words and behaviour.

John B

Mate he is just telling his side of the story and it must be pissing him off so much that he can't tell people his side when they know the one side of it (and even worse that is the media side of things). The handshake was bull and i saw that evra 1st didn't go for his hand and what not. It must be painful for him, i still believe he didn't mean everything that went on, it's just how different our country we have compared from his home country but it shouldn't have been said.
Back him, don't criticise him. If all this didn't happen, he could have been easily become one of our best players since the rushy and dalglish days.

Hasnt done anything wrong in my view, why should he just bow down to the power man utd hold over everyone. Thats his opinion and he is entitled to it. rafa did the same, many others think the same.

Probably would of been better keeping quiet, but just looked at the handshake incident on you tube and Suarez hand is there to be shaked but Evra delibratly lowers his hand and then makes an issue of it, also nothing is said about Ferdinand blatantly refusing to shake Suarez hand.

It`s all football politics and I really hope it does not mean he will be leaving Liverpool as I thing he will be unplayable in BR setup.

If he can't talk in his own country about it then where can he talk. He getting followed all over the world and slaughtered by our media for trying to tell his side of the story. It's old news and sooner the media and everyone else realises that the better. It's probably the most devastating moment in the lads career and he just wants to explain himself to get it off his chest. IT'S OLD NEWS.

Eric the red {Ed002's Note - It was old news until he brought it up yet again.}

Erm, ed...99% of the national press have labelled him racist, quite incorrectly {Ed002's Note - You clearly don't understand. One paper erroneously did that. The report was absolutely clear there was nothing to say he is a racist. He made a number of comments which were ill advised, but that does not make him a racist. Stupid, certainly.}

I know this is just ifs and buts. If we buy and sell who there are strong rumours about (allen, dempsey./ carroll,bellamy) and BR plays a 4-3-3, I would assume that lucas and allen would be starters in midfield and suarez/borini up front. just wondering if henderson/gerrard or dempsey/gerrard would be the choices? My point really being do you put gerrard in midfield or as an attacking right/left sided player?

With squad as it is Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Borini, Suarez, Bellamy would be my 1st XI

RedSG

This is very similar to how Rodgers set up Swansea .. Dm players provide cover for
attacking fullbacks to give width, every player good in possession and quick to close down the opposition when we don't have the ball.
Can't wait myself think with Adam,Cole,Kelly,Henderson,Carra,Coates, Doni, Flannagan,Morgan,Suso and Sterling to back up this team? We look strong.
.....................reina
..johnson..skyrtel..agger...enrique
.............gerrard..lucas.............
..................allen....................
......suarez.................dempsey
................borini.....................

I'd play Gerrard, Allen and Lucas in midfield with Suarez, Dempsey and borini up front with the width coming from the full backs and the wide forwards. Lucas would be the holding player and with allens standing tackling skills he could break up play in front of the oppositions defence play simple balls to Gerrard who can make that killer pass through the defence. Just my opinion

FSG are a joke. Either they should back the manager or f off. Its not like they have done anything great at this club. If they never had funds for a new stadium they should have never have bought the club. Signing average players will get you a average league position.

- Saved us from administration
- Paid off £200m acquisition debt saving us £20m a year in interest payments
- Paid £50m to pay off architects for failed H&G stadium
- Provided Kenny Dalglish with vast funds even with the club running at a loss
- Not interfering with the manager, FSG didn't decide the players brought and fees paid C
- Not accepting poor performance

Just a few things FSG have done

They've been a major improvement on H&G, until the stadium is sorted one way or another I think people will remain sceptical of FSG. Whilst they may not have the wealth of Abramovich or Abu Dhabi, a plan to make us competitive long term is something I will back

We were actually days from administration until FSG came in to clear up the debts the previous owners left us in.. patience is imperative.. although it hurts sometimes.. it is virtue at the end of the day!

Good positive post about your club - it was FSG or administration , and possible Championship football ( or worse ). What's happened in Scotland should be a wake up call for the English game not to spend beyond your means.

John B

And you know for sure that they're not backing the manager?

Please read Brian Reade's 'An Epic Swindle'. Maybe then you'll realise that we could be in worse hands. I don't know how you can say they're not backing the manager. It's still early days, have some bloody patience man.

Such a coward who knows nothing, you sir are an person, why dont you use your billions of pounds, take us over and buy whoever you want

big red g

In what way? They backed Kenny with transfer funds, are working night and day to resolve the long-standing stadium situation. FSG want Liverpool to succeed. Wake up person.

Oh yeah, it's not like they did anything for the club when they saved it from H+G and snatched us up from the depths of administration. You have no sense of perspective. You want everything and want it now and you'll never be happy. Go away.

They havent done anything bad either, bringing back a LFC legend basically just because the fans wanted him, then backing him with over £100mil, the manager isbthe one who brings the players in, thre owners simple give the money for and negotiate with who the manager ones, your not a fan of this club, you are obviously a silly little school kid who jumps on the media bandwagon

I have it from a very good source, someone inside the club (no names no pack drill) that Stanley Park is off the agenda and the owners are looking at the Speke project again. According to my source they can apply for a 30% EU grant if they move to Speke because it's a brown field site, but can no longer get a grant to stay at Anfield of move to Stanley Park. The bitters across the park are also trying for an EU grant to move to somewhere just off Stanly road near the tunnel entrance. This will all have to be published on the council's web site when it's made official.

Maybe Liverpool don't want standard chartered or maybe they want Suarez to leave who knows. Madness

Rodgers does't really want dempsey. He's 29 and rodgers knows it would take two seasons or so to get the team to completely adapt to his style, and by then dempsey will be 31. BUT the owners want dempsey as he is american international star and it would help promote the Liverpool brand in the states. Even though he is 'his own man' i think his hand is being forced a bit with the dempsey transfer and he'd much prefer to invest the money in a younger player.
YNWA Yas

Rodgers is his own man; owners will never force him to get a player he doesn't want, that's why no DoF or DoS or anyone above Rodgers to interfere with transfers. That's why they allow Carroll to leave even if it means taking a hit on the investment. Singred

fellow scousers, we need to understand a key factor our club ate abiding by. It's sometimes forgotten, sometimes ignored, but we can't do that, we need to realise this. LFC will not buy the hazards, neymars, hulks... We will sign underrated, under priced, proven players with high potentials. This means players like Mirallas, Allen, Dempsey, M.Suarez, Borini, Afellay are a few which catch my eye that we have looked at. there's millions of players, why not play it smart and beat the barcas, real Madrids etc to players who have the qualities I've said instead of being lazy ans simply buying the "current" best thing rather than the "next"... So simple, so smart, so effective, so much REVENUE. Maybe why you hear about resale value a bit.. LFC may be reigning in 8th spot, but let's see how long arsenal, man utd, man city, Tottenham and Chelsea can last in top 4 when they lose millions on buying "current" rather than "next".. remember there can only be one winner, so 4 of those 5 teams won't be getting the goal they spent so much on... Anyway Thad ignoring players merchandise revenue, stadium revenue etc, but buying players isn't cheap these days, so expect BR to buy like what I've said. I think its going to work, but there are plenty of delusional fans out there...

YNWA
JS

If as you say we should spot these potential gems before they are world famous stars, then we need to heavily invest in our scouting network rather than pay astronomical amounts when said player become world famous stars.

Hi Eds & Reds,

I have 2 questions for the Eds:

1) Do undisclosed fees have to be disclosed at any stage?

2) I was just wondering, one of the Eds made me change my sign off name because apparently a couple of people took offense to it, yet I see someone is using the exact same sign off name in an earlier post today as I used here for nearly 3 years.

I am not having a go Ed002 but is a fair point

R_R {Ed002's Note - All fees need to be disclosed now. I know nothing of the name.}

If someone took offence at your name - it seems the people of planet earth have finally gone bonkers...

What on earth is controversial with your name??

BJH YNWA (Rebel_Red is it? Does someone just not like the word rebel? They should avoid James Dean's work in that case, which may offend them...... or maybe their beef is with those pesky rebels in Star Wars?)

ps - Confused here - and I try my best to be PC - but the word 'rebel' is just a non-denominational term which is not exclusive to any particular nationality or ethnicity. Mind-boggling!

pps - or is it the word 'red' that's offensive? If so, sorry for missing the point there too. lol.

ESPN Soccernet are running the story of the Suarez interview. Doesn't sound good. He can't help it if he is asked about it, but he can help whether he responds. I think he's fantastic and really hope he stays, but he needs to keep his mouth shut, seriously. His continued defense just keeps it going and makes him and the club look ordinary, shame.

On a brighter note, it's good to hear how the players are enjoying BR's training methods. Let's hope it doesn't take too long to translate into results on the pitch.

Why should he keep his mouth shut. He has the right to respond and he is teling the truth when he said that the ban was due to Man United political power.

Hes telling the truth so what if the media in england dont like it
red lad

I think bringing up the Evra stuff again is his way of forcing his way out of the EPL. Wait for the line:

"I love the Liverpool fans, but everyone had it in for me in the EPL. I had no choice but to move on."

What's more amusing is you will all believe it.

Disney!

As for making the club look ordinary, saurez has all the right too speak about the issue in hand. its the media u should be worried about not letting the subject die. espn soccernet is just a bunch of anti liverpool F*ckers anything to keep the club down makes em happy.

Support the club and the players and F*ck the media

Just remembered that Arsenal signed giroud.... well im jeleous and i think he will turn out better than van persie.... would have been a great partnership giroud and suarez... sigh :( {Ed029's Note - I'm not so sure to be honest as I haven't seen much of him but I would doubt he would be anywhere near as talented as RVP and Chamakh and Gervinho their last two forward signings from France haven't exactly set the world alight}

Giroud has done nothing. He's scored a few goals in a weak league. He's far from proven.

Giroud has spent most of his career in the french 2nd division apart from last season when he scored a few goals in the top division. Wenger has lost the plot,
signings are awful imo.

If Mr. Rodgers does not want to get rid of Andy he needs to come out and say so and stop the speculation. I understood most of the players that we were being linked with and I could also see why it might be best for Liverpool and the players for some of our older higher paid players to move on. However, we need to keep our core and Big Andy is a core player he should not be a "Plan B" his touch has improved, as has his movement off the ball and most importantly his work ethic. He wants to be at Liverpool, he wants to prove himself that is what Mr. Rodgers said he wanted from his players. I can only hope that Mr. Rodgers is only allowing this speculation to mount because he wants to see how bad Andy wants to stay and that is all this is.

Paul Tomkins wrote an excellent article about target men vs out and out strikers and how they hit their primes at different times. He stated that target men generally hit their prime in their mid-to-late 20's and I believe this is the case with Big Andy. I will not be amused if he is put out of the club I fully believe that he will become an attacking force to be reckoned with specifically in Europa League and hopefully CL competitions. Do you remember how hard of a time continental teams had with Peter Crouch? How much more so will they with Big Andy bearing down on them like some sort of ponytailed nightmare!

Coley

Like most of the players Liverpool get rid of , he will suddenly become a force to be reckoned with and they will be sorry. How many player have we sold who have gone on to be brilliant for other teams

cant believe the amount of negative comments on brendan rogers and transfer targets.. lets have it right ..Houllier brougth some professionalism back into our club by introducing better diets ..signed players who he knew didnt drink etc etc and these players like hyppia and hamman where a good influence on younger and new players... but other than this , we played boring neagative football under him and he signed some seriously poor players ..even tho he won the treble etc ..then rafa came and won us the champions league by riding our luck with defensive negative tactics.and only plying football attacking football when we where losing .. not good enough.. Ithink brendan rogers will have us playing better football than houliier and rafa did by the end of this season .. even if he doesnt win anything this year .. im happy to see Liverpool playing good attractive footbal and restoring what this club is about ... playing good football

Im happy to see Liverpool playing good attractive footbal and restoring what this club is about ... playing good football....have you come back in a time machine then? Maybe you should see how things turn out.

Quite agree, love the club but we have been playing dour football, last season was better but no end result. what would fans prefere to win with crap football or to play great exciting football but just miss out. i for one would like both but would settle for great football. i want to know the team are trying and giving their all far to often they looked like they didnt care and that is criminal.

I'd hardly say rafa was not good enough. he brought in some of the worlds best players. torres, alonso, mascherano, reina, agger, skertl, kuyt, arbeloa and luis garcia. All great players. he was stitched up by terrible owners and judged on the poor players he signed not performing. but look at the net spend -he had no decent annual budget (one year aside masch+torres). less than 20 million a year average i think he did a very good job.

Houlier signed Diouf a despicable player.
Souness tried to introduce better diets and healthier eating well before Hou;lier and hit a brick wall. He was ahead of his time on that one if not players.

I think Dempsey could work out great. What you have to remember is that the level of training and competition in the USA is nowhere near what is in most other places of the world. It's going to take an American player longer to develop because of this. When Dempsey came to England he was already 23, which for most players would be the prime of their careers. This was not the case for him because he had not received the quality of training that European or South American players receive. He also had not faced top competition. The adjustment period for a player like him is longer. But he has adjusted now, hes improved every single year he's been in England. His goals have gone 1, 6, 7, 7, 12, 17 in the league. He's just reached his plateau now and I think he can keep it up 2-3 more years. I also think that you put him on a team with the likes or Suarez, Gerrard and potentially Joe Allen and it will make him even better. You put Dempsey on the left, Suarez on the right with Gerrard and Allen as creative midfielders and you got something there.

its starting to pis# me off here it is in black and white..
carroll is a good player but will not suit our style of play example: would you lump long balls up to the likes of messi tevez villa suarez bellamy i could go on.
that is the ball carroll will love same as heskey crouch did.crouch was decent on the ground but you need to be mobile.
i wish him all the best coz he tried hard for it to work.

Eds I've got two questions if I may?

First of all, sorry if you have already answered this, but I remember BR saying that he will not raid his old club. However, looks like we are going to sign Allen. What has changed there?

Secondly, Rodgers also said that we would be signing two players, one who will excite the fans. We have signed borini and Dempsey and Allen look likely. Although I rate Dempsey very highly I wouldn't say these players will excite the fans. Do you think there's an exciting player going to me signed?

Or maybe it was borini he was refering to!?

An italian international at 21. representing his country at the euros in a good italian side. 3rd or 4th choice striker in italy and we got him for just under 10 million. im excited mate.

Hey Ed16 u say Liverpool could have problems with wages for Walcott , what you reckon if we sell Carroll ? Freed up wages from him can be used for Walcott. {Ed016's Note - More the fact that his wage demands aren't worth it}

18 Jul 2012 01:17:51
Do you think we will need to sign a striker if Dempsey joins borini and Suarez at the club, and Carroll leaves?
(there are a lot of ifs there but very likely ones).

18 Jul 2012 01:09:24
Let's look at what some people are bitching about. Transfers:- so, because Chelsea are splashing the cash, it means we should sign overpaid money hungry superstars? When will you people realise it is the worst thing that could happen to us. For one, these players are unproven at this level. Hazard particularly looks like a huge risk, as he's a classic example of the modern egocentric footballer, believing all his own hype. We don't want or need players like this at our club.

Borini has the credentials and the fight to play for the badge, even cutting short his holiday to join up with the squad. Joe Allen looks like being next, and for those who have their heads up their arses, this kid is the real deal. You will find it hard to find a better reader of the game, or a better keeper of possession, his passing range is also very very impressive. On top of that, he has desire to win, desire to get that ball back and not give it away. For me, he's the perfect midfielder and I really hope Macca is right.

Ok, now for Andy Carroll. I for one wanted to see what he could do this season. However, hand on heart, looking back there were plenty of times when I would've driven him back to Newcastle myself. For me, the writings on the wall, so better to sell now, get a good fee, and replace with somebody more suited to the new system. And don't believe all the 'he's said he doesn't want to leave' stuff from his agent etc, a classic ploy to make his client look like the hard done to good guy. Let's just wish him well, and move on, the Liverpool way.

Ok, Brendan Rodgers. People may question the trophy count etc, but please, do your research before lambasting this man and his desire or knowledge for football. He's done all he could in his career to make it to the top, learning on the way from the best around. He lives and breathes football, and his passion and desire to win is written large across his face. It will take time, but he will get this club playing great football again, and not only that, winning things again.

In conclusion, we are at the start, building from the ground up, but we are doing it right with the right people. We've been through hard times as fans but I for one would never walk away, and famously because of this, we will never walk alone. Let Chelsea, Man city etc pay these mega stars huge wages, just watch what happens when the bubble bursts (because it will) I'm confident we'll be there, strong and resolute, and in fine fettle to regain our crown.

Stay focused, believe, it will happen.

Very good post and a very good read. i agree with everything you say. more people should live by the 'you'll never walk alone' mantra. let's get behind our manager and our owners and trust in their decisions.

I have been listening to rebuilding for 20 bloody years!! it starts to grate after a while

Great Post Captain - Many have suggested that Borini is a Chelski Reject yet how many of their so called youth have made it through in recent years? With the Ruski in charge and wanting instant success their is a grave yard of talent at Chelsea that will never see the light of day, especially when you spend £100M on 3 players that come straight in above them!

This is not the Liverpool way. Br will bring the youth forward with an exciting blend of attacking football. I for one cannot wait for the season to start. By having a clear footballing philosophy throughout the club we will bring back the boot room days and be playing as a team - not with 1 off mercenary money hungry footballers.

Everyone refers Caroll to a Toshak! Caroll is not a patch on the big man. Tosh was one of the hardest working on the pitch who would walk through a brickwall for LFC. As per my post last night, AC's work rate off the field and after training has been practicually Zero, as he often dissapeared back to Newcastle after games & training.
Give me Borini any day of the week - so hungry to do well he has brought the end of his holiday forward. All this talk of Andy wanting to fight for his place, howabout get off your back side and join Borini and the team and prove yourself!
I beleive in BR and I am prepared to eat my words if he does'nt make it. I think this guy is rather special!

Great post by The Captain.

Dear mr 5 gordini.... I always read over what I write, and it's only biased because I'm a fan of Liverpool. I'm not blind to see that potentially, Borini has risks attached as with any other player, BUT my point is this, look at what he has said about himself over the past few years, about how much he wants to win and fight to be the best. From what I can see, Hazard has spent that time touting himself to any club who'll listen, and jumping for a big pay packet and the lights of London town. You seem to miss my point entirely that I'd rather have players sweating blood for the badge rather than just picking up a fat pay cheque.
And to another negative poster, yes we have been 'rebuilding' potentially for a long time, but massive mistakes were made over the years setting us back. BUT do you not feel a sense of purpose and drive under FSG and Rodgers? I can sense it, it feels different somehow, like it's being dealt with right.
The crux though is this, even if we were relegated and lost all of our 'stars', I'd still be there, proudly supporting and singing in support of the team, but I'm sad to say that there are plenty on here who wouldn't. But thankyou to all those sharing my views, we are a mighty club and will rise above the trolls.

The captain {Ed049's Note - well said}

Hi Borini is not a chelski reject in fact he rejected them and left the club when they offered him a new contract apparently JT liked his girlfriend ray3037

I agree with most points in the article captain..But when exactly will the bubble burst? I can't see it happening soon which means we need to perform well soon...Finishing 2nd in the league and a trophyless season at United is like a crisis for them but our expectations have declined to a level where we are satisfied with being in the top 4....I really hope BR pulls something out of the bag...I don't see us signing big name stars as its not the liverpool way...But the modern game has changed and revolves around money and only money...Yes, people might say look at Newcastle and Spurs who did well without spending a lot, but at the end of the day, the teams with the money came better off...

Coming to our team I do think we were unlucky last season and I hope this season will be different and we can atleasy get back in the top 4...Carroll needs to stay for 6 months atleast...

At last someone who has actually seen Allen play and agrees with my assessment? The lad is pure class. I'm pretty sure when the season is well under way and beyond christmas. Fans will say that Allen if he's playing for us? Was the bargain buy of the season if not the last ten seasons. He's that good imo.
kidmillions

In terms of the bubble bursting, I'm not suggesting it will happen today, next week, next season, but it can't sustain at that level for much longer. Relating it to Liverpool, my point is more that we need to build a true 'team' of players willing to fight to the death for the badge. We have some amazing kids coming up through the ranks which will make us a very good side in years to come, but in the short term, we need a team capable of winning games and getting us in the champions league where we can then look to add the odd 'stellar' name, but still that 'stellar' name would have to have the desire and spirit shown by any player playing for Liverpool. In any job, one bad egg can ruin the whole teamwork ethic, and often it can be the one with the biggest reputation that turns out to be the problem.

I'm not suggesting it's going to be easy, but with hard work and dedication to the cause, huge things can be achieved, and I just feel we have the right people in position now to help achieve those things. For me, if we buy Dempsey and Allen, in addition to Borini, we will be better than we were before, with plenty of goals in the side (I feel defensively we are very sound) and if Carroll goes we will no doubt buy a suitable replacement, making us even stronger offensively.

All I ask is for solidarity, and some 'glass half full' feelings in the stands, and we will push on I'm sure.

The captain

Totally agree kidmillions.

When you watch him play, you can see that he has that gift that few others have, he sees things as they're going to happen, he's split seconds ahead of the players around him, which is crucial to being a top player. He constantly has space in which to work, and I'm convinced he'll be a top top player. Very reminiscent of Alonso but with more of an attacking edge. It's not fair to player to label them the 'new' so and so, so I'll resist, but only barcelonas midfield have impressed me more in this past season.

The captain

To the Captain

Just because you are a fan does not necessarily mean that you should see the situation as it favours LFC, as this perspective is a path that brings sorrow, you may or may not want to broaden your outlook to be less biased.

Hazard is rightly acknowledged as one of the best young players in the world not just be me but by many of his peers to play him down while making more of Borini is just a fallacy, I am not a troll just someone who sees it as it is and like the other poster I am old enough to have listened to the next year story for the last 20 years at some time next year has to be this year and like it or not the top 3 places are almost secured between utd, chelsea and city that leaves at least 4 clubs including LFC fighting for 4th spot and even if we get 4th spot the team we have will hardly scare the rest of european football, much to ponder there without rose tinted glasses.

5 Gordini

Ok, it's seems as though my points are being misread.

I don't have rose tinted glasses, I see very clearly the position we are in. However, viewing that position as one of despair and 'woe is me' is counter productive to pushing us forward again. I've been a fan for 35 years (I'm not a kid, I'm nearly 40) so I have also lived through the 'maybe this year' stuff plenty of times. But again, as a fan, do you not think we are going to win every game we play in?! I go into every match wanting to win, thinking we will win, because we are Liverpool. Being a fan makes you somewhat biased, but I'm smart enough not to see the bigger picture, I just think you've missed my point entirely.
And on the Hazard point, I haven't once said he's a bad player, I'm saying he has an attitude to his career that I don't feel we need at Liverpool. I want players who want to play for us, because they're proud and honoured to wear the shirt, and who will fight to keep that shirt, not just because they're paid ridiculous sums of money. He's a talented player no doubt about it, but how many clubs has he professed his love for in recent times?!

So I just think my point has been missed by some, I'm just trying to put a positive spin on the future, because if we start out being negative, we will fail no matter what happens, and no amount of money will make that any different. But everyone has an opinion these days, it's cool, I'm not saying I'm right or wrong, just that I can see the light, I see hope in the club again after some pretty dark times, and if we pull in the right direction, together, we just might have something to shout about.

The captain

i am a life long liverpool fan ,unfortunately even at the age of 52 i cant shake this affliction.however this is the most opptimistic i have been in the last 10-15 years. I TRUELY BELIEVE if we support brendon he will deliver something special to our club.This guy knows what he is doing we have got to support him.the only thing that worries me is the hysterical reaction of some of the so called fans.Borini,allen and dempsy look like fantastic signings to me.

All 3 technically gifted , athletic and hungry to win . However some of the so called fans attack the eds and whinge all over the media about these potential signings.They all need to put up or shut up get behind brendon and the club or do one.

You or me or anyone can complain about Rogers and his signings without attacking anyone

I don't like rogers nor his signings, I don't share your optimism.

See there is no need for attacks people only attack when they feel threatened.

Unfortunately on here some of the special people especially the forum whipps believe that if you question anything about rogers or FSG its an attack when its clearly not the case.

5 Gordini

There is nothing to question in my mind? As we havn't kicked a ball yet?
The first poster is correct we should be optimistic. We played really well in parts last season and just need the right players to improve the squad, which Rodgers is doing, and doing well I think.

5 Gordini, you are an example of everything that can be wrong with a 'supporter', and there are a few here like you. We bought Tony Hately in the sixties for a then record fee from Chelsea. He scored 30 goals in his first and only season. Similar to Carroll great in the air but his mere presence in the team promoted the wrong style of long ball football. Shankly sold him because he couldn't fit in with push and run style.

Dealings elsewhere, seem to pave the way for Allen & Dempsey to move. As for Carroll, I would like to see him get a chance to prove himself to the new manager, but if given the chance, he needs to knuckle down.
He does have the talent and is not just a header of the ball, but his attitude is sometimes questionable. Having said that, strikers need and thrive on confidence and all this speculation can't be doing him any good.

Come on!.
AC is a very limited player, falls over most of the time, poor close control, no pace, limited technical ability, and a poor attitude.
We deserve a better player.
LFC must 'take the loss' and move on.

18 Jul 2012 00:32:24
why are so many fans complaining ? every one says Caroll should be here as a plan B. if you love him so much why do you under rate him so much. i think he is better than just a squad player but doesn't just work for liverpool. big strong kind of strikers have never been liverpool types. do you know that we are not as rich as chelsea or city are, who can afford to have a £35 mil striker on the bench who earns 80K a week ? how do you expect us to buy our plan A players? the owners are here as business men not as sugar daddy.

he has been here for more than a year and half and we bought him from a premier league club so it wouldn't take him that long to adjust himself. but it hasn't worked out. if he was bought for £5mil you would be all over him by now.
yes it is frustrating to see such a player with a high expectation has become a flop. but what can you do. move on and hope for the best.

by the way, plan B isn't always throwing the ball to the box at the last minute. we can push the tall defenders forward if that is needed. plan B is having players like Haman and smicer that can change the whole game. plan B is when you have players like Benayou that are creative and different from the ordinary wingers. talk about the big games, it is not long balls that will help us.
when was the last time the big teams had that kind direct big strikers and worked out well for them? right, none other than Drogba. but he has plenty of other qualities Caroll doesn't have. I think the best we can get out of Caroll is to the level of Heskey at his best. am afraid football is much sophisticated than those days.

Miccmak

Absolutely.
Everyone can't seem to get beyond the 35m price tag.
Let's face it, we over paid, its time to recoup some that money and move on.

Personally, I'd rather we focused on having a plan A so good that we don't need a plan B.

You know, I been on this site for maybe 2 years now, untill this site, i thought SSN was the be all and end all of news.

However im now starting too see why the eds call it sly sports.

In rodgers interview, hes said every player will have a chance to prove himself. Not at any point has he said carroll was available for loan, or transfer.

Few people picked up on the cold shoulder given in the interview toward ac, fair enough, but hes still never said hes doesnt want him.

Yet it is all snow balling on sly, i mean, even when england players didnt fly out to usa, the only name sky mentioned was ac not on the plane, with the little side pun, of him possibly leaving.

Literally right now on sky, they just said carrolls been told hes not part of plans at anfield...lol. Where do they get this crap from? Is one of the directors a Man Utd fan?!

Benny baller

Rogers has said Carroll is not in his immediate plans

Sly sports and the Daily Mirror are so much against LFc its untrue. If you look on the Mirror website for LFC, they say LFC used to be the most successful club in England !! they have assumed because United have ONE more League title they are the most successful.

they have conveniently forgotten about the 5 Euro cups

But why make the comment anyway? they could have said a highly decorated club or something similar.

I support BR 100%. Not only because he deserves my support as the new Liverpool manager but also because he makes sense. What does not make sense is posting that Andy Carroll, Henderson, Adam, Aquaman, Spearing, Joe Cole, Downing all need time, will eventually come good. Those players cost 100 million pounds, before wages. These guys have had a chance, we came 8th, we didn't score enough goals, it just isn't good enough for Liverpool. If Andy Carroll is that good how come the highest offer for him is 13 million? He has a poor touch, he's lazy in my opinion, his positioning is shocking, he doesn't look after himself. This is Liverpool FC, the greatest club in the world, it is not a charity, it is not the second chance saloon. You either do it or you move on.

Good post apart from the lazy part. Andy Carroll does some running In games, he never stops. But I'd agree with other stuff

Howdy, If what 'sly' Sports are reporting is true that Andy Carroll will only consider a loan move, i have a lot admiration for him.
The guy deserves a chance, he was slated by most Liverpool fans last season, worked his socks off to prove them wrong and started to put in some good performances towards the end of the season.
Comes back after the Euro's to be told he's not wanted.. Yet hes determined now to go on Loan and prove he deserves a chance at LFC.
Unfortunatly I think he will be forced out and he will have to agree to a permanent transfer, probably back to the toon.
Really disapointed hes not being given another season to prove himself. However Brendan Rodgers knows a lot more than me soo il accept his judgement. Keep the faith.

It looks like Luis Suarez has reopened the Evra saga according to the Telegraph (a good source) they are quoting an interview he gave on Uruguayan TV. Maybe he thought that it wouldn't get back to the UK media but if so that was incredibly niaive of him. I can't see this going down well with FSG or BR (even though personally I have a lot of sympathy with what he says - punishment a result of Man Utd bias in FA and media etc). I am sure he has been tld in no uncertain terms to not speak to the media about this issue and to put it behind him. Could he perhaps be trying to engineer a move away, possibly to Juventus?

Bob

Wrong.

Lazy rags are apparently so bereft of any real news and ideas that they are using some comments about the FA and the press' sickly pandering of Man Utd to try and sell some of their bog roll productions.

I personally think m.suarez shld be brought for around 16m as a front three of Suarez borini and Suarez wld be very exciting

18 Jul 2012 00:06:09
If Liverpool r looking for value for money surely afellay, kjaer and suseata should all be considered as all three cld be brought for under 20m

Kjaer

Did you watch him this summer?

He may be cheap

Buts he's rubbish

We have enough sow's ear that we are Trying to make into silk purses

Leave Kjaer where he is, its better that way!

Sly sports stating that Andy Carroll does not want to leave Liverpool even on loan. I hope this is the case and he is given this season to show all you doubters wrong. Brendon needs to play him in the US tour to show him what he could be missing!!

Why does everyone complain about the ability of players being brought in have faith in the manager and as for gaston why do people think he is going to suceed in the premiership if it happened cause if it did and he failed yet again we will hear more fans moaning

why isnt Conor Coady on the tour ? He is one of the brightest prospects in the youth ranks and touted to replace gerrard one day ?

Ed, which deal is looking closer ATM, Dempsey or Allen!

Thanks, doing a great job Eds! {Ed001's Note - Dempsey to me as I have nothing on Allen at all. I don't know what is happening there.}

17 Jul 2012 23:41:35
well looks like borini is suarezs replacement, carroll to go to be replaced by dempsey, another striker, winger, lb, midfilder to sign, who knows liverpool are going to be a joke, role on relegation

How did you work out Bornini will be Suarez's replacement. Suarez ain't going no where he just signed a extension to his contract !! It's going to be a nice strike force now we need a super attacking midfielder to support the strikers... Hmmm Dempsey

So whats your source suarez signed a new contract, why have the club not announced it, believe me you will be in for a surprise this summer transfer window if you think suarez is staying... hes looking for a move now is surprising how naivie you are. please dont insult me by putting lies on here, why berate me for telling you the truth, borini is his replacement, carrolls leaving so another 2 strikers will be signed i,e dempsey and someone else.... remember i told you this you can apologise at the end of august! KHenderson

17 Jul 2012 23:38:05
if we can pull of a transfer for all these player, I ll be very delighted ; Borini, Joe Allen, Dempsey and Mirallas. specially the last one. he may turn out to be a better player than Hazard. on top of that Aquillani and cole will be like new signings.

I would like to see Spearing and Adam go the other direction.
Bellamy seems to be going and Caroll for 15 - 20 mil.
if we can't offload Caroll, I hope the player we will miss out won't be Mirallas rather dempsey.

Hi guys. great site. Not got any info but Dempsey makes a lot of sense. As in American. Creative. American owners trying to sell the Liverpool brand to America so to me any fee within reason Is fine. Marketing etc. On a separate note. Allen is A Swansea player. Was the gentlemen's agreement a media smoke screen?

17 Jul 2012 23:31:06
Great site, Can you tell me if this transfer prediction is correct/a good guess and how likely is this to come into fruition?: in Walcott, Allen and Dempsey - out: Carroll,Bellamy and Adam.
Cheers

17 Jul 2012 23:29:02
Hey eds , always on the site dont comment too much though. Just wondering if Allen signs does that spell the end of Aqua or Adam or Spearing ? Im really hoping aqua stays but I dont think spearing has the ability to match his determination. Do you have any idea what might happen ? {Ed001's Note - Aquilani is only here because we can't get rid of him.}

17 Jul 2012 23:27:12
If Carroll goes, do you expect a winger to join or a striker??

17 Jul 2012 23:22:23
If we sell Carroll and get Dempsey, will Dempsey be an immediate replacement or will a goalscorer be sought after to play in a front 3 of either : Suarez, ??, Dempsey or Suarez, ??, Borini. perhaps?

17 Jul 2012 23:06:52
any chance the Mirrallas rumous were someone mishearing that we are trying to sign Meireles (again). lol.

17 Jul 2012 23:03:37
Poor big Andy being forced out by Rodgers for Dempsey what a joke lets get behind our no 9 and let him know we rate him!

I bet you posted in january to say he was a waste of money and we should get rid

mr no name

17 Jul 2012 23:01:35
Its strange, it only ever seems to be people with anything to moan about that post, for a whole season Carroll has done nothing (not entirely his fault with poor service but did have some issues regarding his commitment and social life) and people were mostly complaining about him. now he looks like he's on his way, admitidley at a time he shown some form, and we're still only getting negative posts but thus time about him going. Either carrol has won everyone around on the back of 5 games or only the people upset post and the ones that wanted rid are content

17 Jul 2012 22:55:14
hi eds.we all know carroll is a target man,so with BR saying he doesnt fit in with his style of play is he saying that he cant play with the ball at his feet?thanx {Ed001's Note - no, he is saying he lacks the movement required.}

Has BR actually said anything about Carrolls future?

17 Jul 2012 22:14:23
Eds can I just say that I always have trouble using the search function. For instance, yesterday I searched for "Reina not on tour" and it yielded no results, so I went ahead and posted asking why he wasn't going. Lo and behold, there had already been several posts asking the same thing. I guess my point is, the search function doesn't work that well, and it might help to direct people by linking to another earlier post on the same topic instead of just screaming for them to use the very limited search function. Thanks, and you guys do a great job.

Ben the Red {Ed001's Note - or you could just learn to refine your search a bit?}

( btw this isnt me, the original ben the red, who posted in the sighting of first game at anfield. Im now benny baller )

Just wanted to clear that up lol

17 Jul 2012 22:13:42
Tello has joined Atletico Madrid for £4.7m apparently... Why such a low figure Eds? He's worth a lot more than that.

B-Red {Ed001's Note - contract mate, and they put a buy back clause in.}

And they will buy him back when hes worth 30mill for half that..what a club

17 Jul 2012 21:57:47
Is it just me or does Suarez wanna get sold? What the hell is he doing saying it was all a conspiracy on national Uruguayan television!! Eds, do you think that's gonna be it for him now?
Thanks for the great work,
DP {Ed001's Note - he may as well have handed in a transfer request, I agree. I have always said that he will go if someone makes a decent offer for him, I don't see anything to change that.}

It was indeed a remarkably dumb thing to say. The correct answer is 'no comment' or 'I don't want to look backwards'. Amazes me that he allowed himself (again) to get sucked into this.

Why not? we're keeping the likes of Downing, Aquilani, Spearing and selling Carroll...obviously we're not taking things seriously and Suarez probably wants to win things...

It's not that much of an issue FFS! He was asked for his opinion on the situation and he gave it. THAT'S IT! Stop making something bigger than it actually is.

17 Jul 2012 21:56:12
Hi Eds, besides player sales, have you heard any info on the general figure fsg will allow to be invested on signings this summer?

Drew {Ed001's Note - it doesn't work like that.}

17 Jul 2012 21:50:12
hi eds, just a quick question, when will borini travel out to usa for the pre season tour? thanks {Ed001's Note - I forget the date now, but it is the same day as Reina and Carroll go out there.}

Reina is not in the squad at all to go to the USA, he wi join up when the team return home

17 Jul 2012 21:31:54
Reina, johnson, skrtel, agger , enrique, lucas, allen, gerrard, borini, suarez, dempsey. I would be happy with our starting line up next season. Bring sterling and suso through if they are ready.

17 Jul 2012 21:30:19
Is Robbie fowler part of the backroom staff now coz seen pics of him with rushie and Rodgers in training.

No mate. He is just there for press and to appeal to fans because some of the players may be too busy playing matches to do all the publicity meetings in the states

Two value signings who could be shrewd buys...

Luc Castaignos - 5-6m from Inter
Urby Emanuelson. - possible swap with Aquilani or makeweight in the unlikely event of AC going to AC

Castaignos didn't really get a chance at Inter but most of Europes top clubs wanted him. Still a teenager so BR could coach him back to his best.

Emanuelson is versatile and can play LB/LW/AM. Great pace and dribbling and a former Ajax teammate of Suarez.

I like your choices. I wouldn't complain about either.

Hi eds, Carroll has apparently told Liverpool he does not want to leave and that he would like to stay and prove Brendan wrong. Is there truth to this? If there is do you reckon there is any chance that Andy would be granted his wish? {Ed001's Note - I don't know the lad personally, I do know he was not keen on leaving Newcastle and I very much doubt he would choose to stay with us over a return home. I am very dubious about these reports, they just seem to be him saying the right things.}

17 Jul 2012 22:40:54
i have posted before but never made the main page,,,,,,;-(

anyway,,,,

IF Big Andy C returns to Newcastle, will Borini(unproven italian in prem)(sounds like aquaman) be our out and out striker, with the target of,

walcott, wing
dempsey, attacking mid
suarez, roams everywhere,

does this mean,,,, and only if they sign, borini gets injured and suarez stays in his roaming role,

will walcott, again, if he signs, will be back to the role he craves, out and out striker,

no power on attack, but.

reina,

johnson, agger, skrtl, enrique,

lucas

walcott, gerrard, dempsey,

suarez

borini,

looks good to me,

what you think ED. would you settle for it.
{Ed001's Note - god no, please not Walcott!}

People say fans are fickle and say one thing then the next week or window they say the complete opposite.

This isn't true, the fact is 95% of posts are fans letting their negative emotion out. I.E. 5 months ago - Carroll is sh1t! Now its keep Carroll! Its not the same fan its just this site promotes negative thoughts and positive posts usually get over ridden by negativity and so no-one bothers! :)

Can't beat a bit of banter though - The FA have brought in a new ruling. Anyone found passing to Andy Carroll will automatically receive a yellow card for time wasting.

17 Jul 2012 22:42:54
Why are people so angry at Rodgers, carroll leaving makes perfect sence, he cannot play tiki taka, he doesn't fit into a 4-3-3, he would just be on the bench wasting away, for Carrolls benefit he needs to leave and Rodgers can invest the money on a big player!!

Andy may fit the style, he may not. Fact is, there's one man who knows, and thankfully he's the one who makes the call.
I say just roll with it.

Red7.

Yeah rodgers only wants what's best and if that isn't carroll then he should go. this will surely mean another striker is to be bought though and BR does like having a targetman.

ED001 do you think it is a good idea to get rid of Carrol? {Ed001's Note - only if it is for the right amount of money. No point just getting rid when he is not on the huge wages people seem to think, he can provide a good option from the bench.}

Yeah i would say cole and aquilani should be the priority sale's.
derryred

Hi ed001 long time no see, I really think it is a shame if Carroll goes he has just started showing form, are you excited with borini signing? What do you think of hrs targets in general?
Hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - I am not sure about Borini as I haven't seen a lot of him, I am excited about the new season in general though. I am hopeful we will be a bit stronger next season. I am pleased we are going for Dempsey, I rate him highly and have thought we should move for him for a while.}

17 Jul 2012 22:41:55
With all the players we're linked with (and Borini who we hav signed) I just hope we finish in top 6. Or at least above Newcastle. I live in Newcastle and got so much stick off toon fans last season as they had a one off season and we cudnt score in a brothel with £50 hanging out our pockets!
I just hope BR gets it ryt and we play good football.

HI ed's and fellow liverpool supporters. As much as it pains me to say this but liverpool are no longer a big club.Historicaly yes but at this moment in time not.Some supporters need to get their heads out of the clouds and realise we can not attract the 30 million plus players any more and have to get used to the players we are linked with and sign.So what if they cost 7million as long as they play well and help the team surely that's just as important.Our time will come again with hard graft and patience, have belief in the club and put your energy into supporting BR and the boys and NOT your bitchin...JFT96

To above poster its not about big club or champions league its about owners who cant compete financially with big clubs in modern football you need money even one of the best team in the world barcelona were spendind big despite winning trophys and having one of the best accadamy eg
Zlatan ibrahimovic
Fabrigas
Mascharano
Alex sanchez
David villa etc etc you need money to compete or except mid table just hope it helps coz even city bought quality players without champions league once again its all about money

Liverpool will always be one of the top clubs. the problem is we do not have one of the top teams... yet.
