Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

18 Dec 2017 22:53:40
Looking through fixtures (Yeah that's how exciting my life is) I really think we will be in 3rd place after our game against Burnley on the 1st of January. Klopps choice to rotate the squad could prove to be decisive in a higher league finish and us competing against the best in the Champion's League. With a few good signings in Jan we can challenge UTD for 2nd but I just don't see city slipping up. IMO opinion this would be a pretty successful season.

One game at a time, my friend. We have to get past Arsenal first.

19 Dec 2017 07:04:01
e few signings in winter transfer?
btw brover is right.

18 Dec 2017 21:01:59
Seeing reports that Alex Teixera is being put up for sale by his club in China. Strange one but would we be interested still?

Would need to be a low price as he's been poor since he moved there. But for the right price would Jürgen still be interested? Wages as well would need to be way lower than he's on. Could be a decent impact player for second half of season whilst he gains his fitness again.

18 Dec 2017 22:15:11
i think you have your answer Jonesred.

18 Dec 2017 22:40:24
If he’s been poor in China he’s not likely to be much use to us is he.

18 Dec 2017 23:23:17
If he's been poor in China, why would we want him here?

{Ed025's Note - he might be good at organizing a wall brover.. :)

19 Dec 2017 08:08:59
Not good enough for China but good enough for LFC? Hmmmm.
You sure u didn't get the wrong Merseyside club mixed up with this Texiera business.

18 Dec 2017 20:48:29
Can Barcelona afford both Greizmann and coutinho in January?
I don't see how they can, they're not forking out £250 million no way
I think Phil will stay to the end of the season myself.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

18 Dec 2017 20:56:38
I hope he doesn't to be honest, I have everything crossed he's gone in January, I don't like players been here who don't want to be, it upsets the chemistry. But I do understand what your saying, I also wouldn't be surprised if he stops until summer and I agree they won't be getting both in Jan, one in Jan and one in summer if they happen at all.

18 Dec 2017 21:29:17
What evidence has shown Coutinho has upset the chemistry of the squad?

I haven't seen any. His performances earlier on in the season weren't up to scratch but recently they've been as
good as ever and there has been no signs of any upset in the squad either.

I know he wants to leave. I am aware. However personally I don't see the need to sell him until we can receive a price we're happy with and in the summer when we can properly replace him. January is not a good tieme to buy.

18 Dec 2017 21:30:59
@Salah you mean, you prefer 11set of Milners who wants to be here than Coutinho? There is a reason Coutinho wants to leave and that was the reason Milner wouldn't had signed for us in his elite career. That is winning, and i won't hate player for that. Modern game is expensive and we can cheat our way to success.
Players must be motivated by the ambition of the club administration.

18 Dec 2017 21:56:12
Alhassan - you damn right I would rather have 11 players wanting to be here then Coutinho even if they are not to his quality yes I would. You obviously are happy with players here who don't want to be then? I never said I hated Coutinho for making his decision, I do agree players must be motivated, Coutinho is not anymore, not for us. He's had a few good games this season and suddenly all is forgiven? people forget about his back 'injury' and his invisible appearances the majority of the season.

Navy Keith - Do you really think we'll get a price we want for him? I'm not so confident mate, if we keep delaying this, Barcelona will move on, then what, we could be stuck with a player who doesn't want to be here. Sooner he's gone the better, having said that I do understand why people don;t want him to be sold until the summer, he has been making a difference recently, but not as consistent as he once was this season he seems to be a different player, his heart isn't in it, he needs to go.

18 Dec 2017 23:14:23
Tough one to call, his contributions of late (assists goals) are reason enough to keep him, he's cup tied for the CL and Barcelona are walking LaLiga, no rush is in anyone's interest apart from Couts or his family.
Disappointed as I am with him for his behaviour at the start of the season, I think he's clicking back in to gear at just the right time, and i hope he stays till summer.
I'm very fickle wanted him gone 1st of Jan just 2weeks ago.

18 Dec 2017 23:24:22
Barca can have him in the summer, not before.

18 Dec 2017 23:56:22
Man if you want to win silverware you have to keep your best players. Keep coutinho add one central defender who can make the difference.

18 Dec 2017 23:56:26
His work rate has not been the best but i think its unfair to say that's not because he doesn't care, he's had a rather hectic 6 months, im sure its not intentional.

On the ball, his ability seems to be rising with every game. I have often scoffed at people who have claimed before he is close to world class. i've felt for a while he is one dimensional and spends far too much time cutting inside and shooting from distance. But his game has gone up a level this season. His skills and touch are frightening, he seems to be making better decisions on the ball. He looks well on his way to being considered in the echelons of hazard, silva, de bruyne and iniesta.

19 Dec 2017 00:48:14
VakPa - 1. He's not our best player 2. We can't keep a player who wants to leave.

19 Dec 2017 04:27:18
Of course you can keep a player who wants to leave, he has a contract. Whether you should keep him is a different matter.

18 Dec 2017 18:38:25
Would like to get peoples opinions on Gini Winjnaldum. He seems to look like a little kid who has lost confidence in terms of body language or maybe I am misreading it. Every game this season for the most part he looks void of ideas on the ball and will always pass back even when its clearly not the best option, which slows are attack. I understand playing a role when you keep things ticking over and play simple balls but 9/ 10 if you watch him he will pass back when a forward ball even a simple on is on. Chamberlain at the moment is ahead of him and should start against Arsenal but having said that I have probably jinxed it and Milner will start with Gini.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

{Ed025's Note - he has been very poor alonso, but he is making hendo look like a world beater so its not all bad mate.. :)

18 Dec 2017 18:53:31
Haha Ed25 you couldn't resist. Do you think its a case of where he is being deployed, the task he has been given, a dip in form or the fact he had a decent first season and he has regressed to his normal level or thereabouts.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think hes as good as expected alonso, outstanding in a poor newcastle side but after his initial impact he has as you say regressed, the test is usually how many top six sides would he get a game for?...thats nil imo mate..

18 Dec 2017 19:10:41
Never rated him. Watched him last season seen nothing worth noting for him to be included in the side. This season again he's looked the same. Great work ethics but contributes little overall. Wijnaldim has great ability but he simply ghosts through games. I don't think he has a long term future with us.
We actually need reinforcements in midfield in the summer. Can looks like he's leaving, wijnaldim and lallana I think will be available at the right price and Henderson isn't improving. Keitas coming but I expect another midfielder to come in aswell.

18 Dec 2017 19:31:14
I think u guys are being a bit unfair as Gini is being asked too play midfield roles that don't suit his attributes, he played at Newcastle an in Holland as an attacking midfielder, for us being asked too b more defensive an even played at the back, he is still important he is strong good technically an does a decent job.

{Ed025's Note - some of you reds fans cant admit that a player you have is just not that good hailstones, lets be honest its not just ability wise where he is lacking but tactically as well, take off the old red tinted specs and you will see that he is really not all that mate..

18 Dec 2017 19:39:37
Ed25 he wouldn't get into any top six team so with you on that one. Big Al, we need two midfielders IMO, with the names you mentioned potentially leaving. Gini literally let's the game past him by to the point where I think he literally could have been off the pitch and it would not of made a difference. The midfield reinforcements have to be quality and not squad fillers in the same quality bracket of Naby Keita if we want to have success,

18 Dec 2017 19:40:12
Second season now, he's going backwards. Shame because I had high hopes for him. I don't think he really knows his role in the team.

{Ed025's Note - unused sub ron?..

18 Dec 2017 19:43:00
I'm with you on this one Ed25, he isn't good enough for us, not remotely close to good enough. I expect to see him benched once Keita comes in.

{Ed025's Note - me too salah mate..

18 Dec 2017 20:19:37
First year he got 7 goals and 11 assists from midfield. He scored some massive goals for us against Chelsea, City and Spurs. It is beyond fickle to pretend like he wasn't good enough from day one.

This year he has been playing a far more defensive role to accommodate more attacking players. Last year we had Mane, Coutinho, Sturridge, Origi and Firmino. This season we have Mane, Firmino, Coutinho, Sturridge, Salah, Chamberlain, Solanke and Ings. From 5 forward players to 8. It was obvious the likes of Gini would need to play more reserved because Klopp is squeezing more forwards into the team and squad.

Gini is doing an adequate job defensively, but it is not his natural game. Last season the midfield 3 all pressed relentlessly and it really suited Gini with his superb running power. This season we are as much a counter attacking team as we press, and it doesn't suit Gini as much. He is playing much deeper, to the point where he's looked deeper than Henderson at times.

He's not having an awful season, but he's just not impacting games as much as he did last year when the system suited him perfectly. As the team has adapted and changed, i no longer expect him to be first choice once Keita arrives. He doesn't have the passing range to play deep in a counter attacking team, and he doesn't seemingly have the same kind of pace and decision making qualities as our other attacking options, to convert back to a left winger.

I think Lallana is going to struggle with the new tactics as well initially. He isn't quick enough to be one of the wide men, nor can he can't pass well enough to be in the centre. His saving grace is he can potentially drive us forward in the same way Henderson and Chamberlain can, and he is quick to react to and pounce on mistakes.

Sadly (for Gini), i think our team has evolved away from the 3 man midfield of pure running power and pressing. The press is now more selective and explosive, which requires a burst of pace over a few yards that Gini doesn't have. Chamberlain, Keita and Henderson do though. We are now pouncing on loose touches and passes, instead of pressing teams for 90 minutes to force them into mistakes. It is probably an intentional ploy by Klopp to try a prevent the burn out we saw last season. We're still pushing up really high, but we're not chasing every single ball like crazed Jack Russel's. It's far more selective and far more intelligent.

The new tactics make Gini almost redundant. Hopefully he can prove me wrong though.

All just my opinion and subjective analysis though.

18 Dec 2017 20:24:39
No ed, that's Mane 😉.

{Ed025's Note - hes not been great lately ron but he has the quality mate and that sets him apart..

18 Dec 2017 20:32:57
Good post MK. unfortunately ed25 you are spot on mate. Hope your well.

{Ed025's Note - im good thanks ace, how are you doing mate?

18 Dec 2017 20:35:59
Gini hasn’t been great this season but he would walk into Everton’s team and be the star man. That’s not a dig Ed honestly I’m just trying to put some perspective on this. He’s a very good player, maybe not top class but most teams in the prem would be happy to have him.

{Ed025's Note - saying he would walk into the everton team is not saying much for him ings, in fact its an insult to gini mate..

18 Dec 2017 20:52:03
Just using Everton as an example as I know you can relate to it Ed. The same is true though of most teams in the Prem. He’s never going to be a world beater but he’s a good solid pro who can be very effective. Sometimes he isn’t but I don’t know any players in the world that play brilliantly every game.

{Ed025's Note - salah..

18 Dec 2017 20:54:05
Lol atleast your honest Ed25. Ings n things I disagree, saying he's a very good player is beyond me I seriously doubt anybody in the top teams would have him but of course, each to their own mate. I do hope he can improve and prove me and others wrong but I don't think he will, to me we've seen what he can do and that's that and he can't do a great deal.

{Ed025's Note - i always tell the truth salah and cant see through lead...thats why they call me superman mate.. :)

18 Dec 2017 20:58:47
Good post MK. Very good. Agree with you.

18 Dec 2017 21:04:32
Not even Salah Ed. Did you watch the West Brom game?

{Ed025's Note - no mate i was ironing my hair at the time.. :)

18 Dec 2017 22:02:47
Ed 025 I get were u Coming from in regards wijnaldum I jus think we don't play too his strengths he is at his best in attacking position I ain't sayin he not going backwards as a player cos he has regressed this season, jus cos I am a Liverpool fan doesn't mean I think all players we have are great, bloody hell mate I have been watching us for last 30 years an we have had a whole load of pure garbage.

{Ed025's Note - i just want the fans to be honest hailstones, if a player is playing well then laud him up by all means like salah, but if a player is playing poorly like gini then dont be afraid to say it like it is, forums like this are the place to express our feelings mate be them good or bad..

18 Dec 2017 22:36:31
Thing is mate look at your good selves Everton jus cos say sigurdson didn't do anything for first ten games doesn't mean he is a bad player as he is proving now same wid Rooney who I know u weren't in favour of but his quality coming through wid goals, I remember earlier in season wijnaldum played amazing against arsenal everyone was singing his praises, I would like too see that version of wijnaldum but admittedly he is a squad player at minute an not a vital cog.

{Ed025's Note - and if he regains that form then he should get all the plaudits hailstones, im not writing him off because he is out of form as things can change, but at the moment he is not worth his place for me and now its up to him to step up to the plate, if not the keita will come in and he will be out in the cold because he has not done the business, and thats the way it should be mate..

18 Dec 2017 22:55:44
I think Wijnaldum is a terrific little player, he may not be playing his best this season but the same could be said about Can and Henderson, he’d still get in my first 11 nine times out of ten. Of course a Toffee wouldn’t rate him, their idea of a good midfield is Barry Horne and Joe Parkinson!

{Ed025's Note - hes fine if your looking to finish top 6 smeg, if you want to win titles he is not in your side its as simple as that, some of you lot make me laugh with your undying loyalty to sub standard players...graeme souness once said.." show me a good loser...and ill show you a loser", prat of a man but those are very wise words mate..

18 Dec 2017 23:09:55
I was many to say City, Chelsea and Arsenal. I domvt think Gini scored against Spurs. Luckily i think everyone realised i got the North Londoners muddled up!

Cheers Acered and Izzo!

18 Dec 2017 23:13:56
I wasn't singing his praises mate jus saying he is useful too us especially wid not the strongest squad in top 6 I mean it's hard too fit him into say front 5 firminio Salah coutihno mane an the ox so he has too go in deeper role an it says a lot he went in defence when I seen the line up Vs Stoke wid him at back with Can I nearly peed my pants but he done a good job and shown his versatility, when keita comes though he walks right into team u bang on the money there.

18 Dec 2017 23:18:50
So we should only be loyal to good players and players who are in form?

{Ed025's Note - yes, accepting mediocrity will win you nothing smeg and im not talking about a dip in form here, im talking about a lengthy spell of under achieving and failing to impact the team, but if your happy to watch performances like the ones against everton and WBA then good luck to you mate..

18 Dec 2017 23:34:00
I'm with Ed25 on this one. I am a big fan of Gini and yes, he was immense for us last season. But this season, he has been poor. I don't know if he is being told to do what he is doing BUT if Hendo is being slated for passing sideways, what are we to say about Wiji who passes sideways and backwards more than Hendo does? He plays too safe for me and the fact that he cannot do a damn thing in away games is just crazy and not good enough. Ed25 is right. Keita will come in and will start ahead of him and if he does not buck up, he will be left behind cos we are getting better as a team and squad and we will not be held back by passengers who could not be arsed to put a shift in in away games.

{Ed025's Note - never a truer word said brover..

18 Dec 2017 23:44:51
With you on that MK he isn't being asked to be a more attacking/ closing down player using his stamina. However I don't think Hendo has any more pace than Gini though that's neither here nor there.

18 Dec 2017 23:48:53
I think MK's assessment is spot on. He isn't a bad player but, like so many players, is not a complete enough midfielder to take on a deeper or more defensive role. He is a very inconsistent player but can be very effective, but only when he is given a very specific role. He is not good enough to different roles comfortably it would seem.

19 Dec 2017 03:07:40
I think Gini is a decent squad player for us, but that's it.
I think Gini is one of those players that thrive on confidence (similar to Mane) . I couldn't help notice in the Bournemouth game that he was just not making himself available for the pass enough or looking for the ball to be played in to him. I think he is not in a good place right now confidence wise, and that is showing in his football.
The lack of confidence may be coming from his understanding / belief in the role he is being asked to play. I hope he scores against Arsenal to help drive it back.

19 Dec 2017 06:04:54
I am a big fan of Lucas Leiva and in my opinion he was much better than Gini.
Gini plays outstanding in 2-4 games every season and rest of the games he disappears.

19 Dec 2017 07:09:32
Gini should be dropped as he is not playing well, that drive we saw last year has gone, and delays a lot of attack’s. I watched him most of the game against Bournemouth and the amount of time he spent occupying space where their was no chance of him receiving the ball was very disappointing. I certainly think he’s on the bench as we improve the midfield, but I think their is a place for him in the squad, if he regains his form from last year. A good rotation player, but certainly not deserving of his place currently.

19 Dec 2017 12:07:22
Smeghead head or Brover, were is the support for wijnaldum? If his dad lost his hand in a clog accident or fell out of a windmill would you post in support of him then. Were is your sympathy? Wijnaldum is having a poor season but he was excellent last season, lovren has been awful since we signed him, maybe you should get behind players for football reasons and hope he gets back to his level.

19 Dec 2017 10:35:28
What, do we just take turns shining our light of critique at liverpool players each week? Ed25, what you say about gini and top6 is ridiculous given he was a mainstay of our squad that achieved top4. I get what you're saying tho.

To me gini is another attack minded midfield player having to redesign his career at liverpool football club. Hendo, can, gini, lucas before them. All naturally attacking players turned into more defensive players. I think we under estimate the impact that has on a players mentality and how thw game is approched. Separate to that, it juat feels like we're going down the usual track of saying "he can't do that" or "he never does this" - extremely exaggerated generalizations of a player where fans only tend to pick up on the things they want to see.

{Ed025's Note - i can appreciate what your saying faith but shoehorning hardly ever works, its square pegs in round holes for me mate..

19 Dec 2017 10:57:57
I'm good ed25 thanks. Least you got some hair to iron mate!

{Ed025's Note - i have a lot more than i need or want ace..when i get it cut i have one cutting and 2 bagging it mate..

19 Dec 2017 14:55:51
"If his dad lost his hand in a clog accident or fell out of a windmill would you post in support of him then? "

😄 I don't get this.

21 Dec 2017 16:58:17
It's from a different thread Ron! The two posters I mentioned, were saying lovren should not be criticised because he was "a refugee as child" and he's had "marriage problems" and some other stuff, so my point is (and I was being a little sarcastic I admit) they haven't defended wijnaldum from the criticism in this thread so I'm asking, do you need to have off the field issues and a rough childhood to be above any criticism?

18 Dec 2017 18:02:55
A question for Ed1 if I may.

We have been linked with David Silva quite a lot the past couple of months, I don't see us getting him at all, there's always daft transfer rumours at this time of the year and I believe this is one of them but, would you be happy if we signed him? (if of course there was a chance) I know you highly rate him as do I.

The reason why I am asking is some may say his age now is against him? personally I don't think it is, I think he's still got another 3-4 years left in him. At 31 he's showing no signs of slowing down, he has everything imo still.

Every single time I watch him he never fails to impress me, if these rumours are true I'd love to see it happen, he's possibly one of the best midfielders in the league. I'm not saying he is THE best but imagine him with our lads, I think that's all we'll be able to do is imagine but its a nice thought, was just wondering what your (Ed1) and other peoples thoughts was on this.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - pace has never been part of his game, so age is not an issue. He would provide the experienced head we miss and the ability he has is insane. He would be a magnificent signing. I would love to see him play for us.}

18 Dec 2017 18:14:56
Me too mate, thanks for your opinion!

{Ed001's Note - not getting him and Villa is probably the worst thing Prick Parry did for us.}

18 Dec 2017 18:19:51
Ed1 don't tease me now. I would love us to sign him but would he come to Liverpool and would City let him go, I just can't see it.

18 Dec 2017 18:30:40
Klopp adores Silva. He would sign him tmrw if available, IMO.

18 Dec 2017 19:16:07
Didn't we miss out on Ronaldo and aquero aswell? It's amusing because it's heartbreaking on the players we missed out on that realistically could have been ours.

{Ed025's Note - that ilk of player seems to go to the sides who are looking to win things Al.. :)

18 Dec 2017 19:28:02
If we are adding to the list dani Alves recently interviewed about how close he was to joining Liverpool.

And same with Sergio Ramos when he was at Sevilla.

Hindsight is a funny old thing!

18 Dec 2017 21:22:57
Cheeky ed025. We bought some brilliant players however over the years before they became world class. Alonso, torres, suarez and coutinho. You win some and you lose some but with regards to silva and villa they were truly ours and we probably would have won the league. Alonso however has the be the worst sell ever for us.

18 Dec 2017 23:37:39
Yeah but who’s to say they would have excelled playing for us and training with some of the managers we’ve had over the last few years. We’ll never know.

18 Dec 2017 23:51:54
Even at 31 he is so good he can play for another 4 years. He is so naturally talented if there was even a sliver of hope he would join, we would have to try.

19 Dec 2017 09:25:29
As a short-ish term replacement for Coutinho he would be incredible.

18 Dec 2017 15:33:08
posted few weeks ago that roberston should be first choice left back. reaction was more or less i was talking nonsense, anyone change their minds now?

Believable10 Unbelievable13

18 Dec 2017 15:39:12
IMO he hasn't done enough to take his place back from Robertson. He seems much improved and if he keeps up the hard work in training he will earn his place however I feel Moreno's pace gives us extra attacking threat.

18 Dec 2017 15:40:06
No. But he COULD be first choice if he keeps learning.

18 Dec 2017 15:40:10
No, Moreno should atill be first choice. Robertson is decent at the moment and I would like to see more of him but not ahead of a fully fit Moreno.

18 Dec 2017 15:52:52
whilst i am appreciate he is showing his quality now that he has got a run of games and hopefully will continue improving and keep our LB position in a good way.

I still believe that Moreno should still be our first choice left back.

18 Dec 2017 16:07:19
Its one game mate, and he didn't have a blinder did he he did what was expected of him, calm down a bit.

18 Dec 2017 16:17:07
One good game against a team we dominated. I think you should wait until he has a run of consistently good games before you say " I told you so "

18 Dec 2017 16:18:54
I agreed with you then. He's a better defender.

18 Dec 2017 16:35:28
To be frank, no, He desperately needs to work on crossing, he just seems to hit aimlessly and he seems to eager to bomb forward in my opinion.

18 Dec 2017 16:41:49
Moreno still offers more quality in the final third. I think that is more important to us than Robertson being marginally better defensively, especially with how much we rely on our wing backs to provide the width.

Robertson needs to improve his balls into the box significantly before he'll get my vote. He was good against Bournemouth though to be fair. He just needs to maintain that level against Arsenal on Friday. It'll be much harder to cope against Bellerin though. He has so much license to get forward in Arsenal's system. It is a game which could make or break Robbo to be honest.

{Ed025's Note - i have to disagree MK, i like my defenders priority to be solid in defence first and if they can add a bit of an attacking threat then thats fine mate..

18 Dec 2017 16:59:40
I think overall, Robertson has the potential to be an all round better full back than Moreno. Moreno has improved no doubt and I'm happy with him there currently but I don't feel he has as much potential to improve as Robertson has. I may be wrong though.

18 Dec 2017 17:00:15
This is Robbos chance to break into the team, morenos not exactly that far ahead of him ability wise if at all, so he needs to put in some proper performances to keep the spot.

18 Dec 2017 17:32:34
Prettty sure against Palace everyone was on here raving about his delivery into the box, he put some absolute corckers in that day so he obviously does have that ability, he needs to find consistency that’s for sure, presumably that’s more likely to happen if he played more? I think he deserves a decent shot at nailing down that position. Moreno has improved but it still doesn’t mean he’s good enough.

18 Dec 2017 18:27:59
triangle, i have watched him in many games not only a few games other than first team and indeed replays of scotland games and suggest you are judging his crossings from one game, i assure you his crossing is certainly not aimless, and defensive capability, well .

18 Dec 2017 18:33:51
Robbo had a good game vs B'mouth and should be praised for it. Let's leave it at that instead of saying he is/ could be better than Moreno. Moreno is the better attacking full back with better end product. Defensively, he has some more work to do. Robbo has to d a whole lot more to dislodge him and show he is better. We shall see.

18 Dec 2017 18:43:29
Moreno has to prove that he is better and more consistent than the worse version of himself over the past few seasons. Robbo just needs to not make a few mistakes to get fans favor.

Objectively, and besides vs Seville, Moreno has done very little wrong and Robbo has barely done anything better than Moreno other than to not make any brain explosions so far.

18 Dec 2017 18:15:49
Robbos the better defender and adds something going forward the right balance for me.

18 Dec 2017 19:34:57
Robertson was excellent yesterday non stop all game defending well joining the attack pressing we have another decent left back who can get better.

18 Dec 2017 19:37:01
I keep reading about how Moron-o offers so much going forward. Can anyone tell me when his last assist or goal was?

When was the last time he produced a key pass?
Some talk about him like he’s a Cafu / Roberto Carlos type. Hell, even a less “sexy name” like Denis Irwin was far, far better going forward!

He’s quick, yes. What else does he offer?
And that reverse tackle with his left foot from the right side justifies my nickname for him. How many fouls has he conceded making that challenge? Carol Vorderman would struggle with the maths on that!

I’m not saying Robertson is the answer, as he needs a lot more games to be judged, but Moron-o has had 3 seasons to prove he’s not what is required if we wish to challenge for the top 4 on a regular basis, let alone the title.

As Ed25 said (in relation to players getting into a rival’s team) which of the other “big six” teams does he get in to?

Would he replace Baines or Bertrand either? If the answer’s no, then we have a mid-table (at best) left back!

18 Dec 2017 20:08:55
Correct me if im wrong but doesn't moreno have like three assists in the CL alone. Plus stats ain't the way to show someone is having an effect on the game Jim bonda. Right now Moreno offers more going forward than Robertson. Now is the chance for robertson to prove himself whilst Moreno is out injured.

18 Dec 2017 21:13:43
Dilakh2

You’ve answered with a stat that he has 3 assists in the CL, then contradicted yourself by saying “stats ain’t the way to show someone is having an effect on the game”!

Having an attacking effect in games we win 7-nil also isn’t the way to judge a player, unless we’re beating a good quality side.

I’m judging him on his overall performances over a period of 3 1/ 2 seasons. I’m not denying he’s produced improved performances this season which, compared to some from previous seasons, isn’t that hard!

But I’m looking for someone to correct me and my opinion, which of the other “big 6” squads (let alone teams) does he get in to? And, given the choice, would anyone select Moron-o ahead of Bertrand or Baines?

18 Dec 2017 21:52:43
He’d get into Chelsea’s team ahead of Alonso all day long Jim. He’s probably better than Young too and Delph too. When you look at it most of the top teams are struggling for left backs.

{Ed025's Note - he has potential ings, but lets kid ourselves those three you mention are miles better than him mate..

18 Dec 2017 23:13:17
Alonso is better than Moreno mate.

Moreno is better than Young and Delph in my opinion though Ed025. That is hardly anything to tell the grand kids about though! "yeah i was a better left back than an average midfielder and a 33 year old right winger" 😂.

19 Dec 2017 05:00:38
Jim Bonda - you asked the question ‘Can anyone tell me when his last assist or goal was? ’ dilakh2 then answered your question perfectly reasonably with a valid answer and stated stats weren’t the way to judge a player. He wasn’t contradicting himself he was simply answering the question you asked,

18 Dec 2017 23:38:20
Ed25, I disagree. There is no way Delph (who's not a LB) is better than Moreno. He plays in a system where he is barely in any danger at City so that is not a bar to measure anyone in that team defensively. Delph is a poor LB but I don't blame him cos it is not his position.

As for Alonso, he is a worse defender than Moreno but in the Conte system, he is required to attack more so he is better at that than Moreno but defensively, no way. Moreno has become much better than Alonso.

{Ed025's Note - its a difficult one that brover because they play different positions, but as a football player i would put those two ahead of moreno mate but thats just my opinion..

19 Dec 2017 09:31:05
Oh, the selective memories. You were told you were talking nonsense because of the view itself. It was the absolute confidence that you were right on evidence of one good performance against poor competition, and one average performance against average competition. Barring a mad 15 minutes vs Seville went to bits (in fact he wasnt even the worst, just the most obvious), Moreno has been fairly good at the back and very good up top. He's earned his place, Robertson has yet to earn keeping his.

And Ed025 - I agree that a defender should be solid at the back first, but don't you think sending every cross to no-where when they roam forward is a defensive vulnerability in itself? He starts a counter attack almost every time he goes forward cause he hits the cross every time, even when there is no-one to receive it, rather than look to retain possession if there are no good options. It's hardly an obituary for him but if he wants the first team spot, he needs to cut that out.

{Ed025's Note - thats a fair point hjikle, he is not as good as moreno going forward but defending is the main priority for me mate, your attack and midfield will create enough chances to win any game so its prioritizing mate..

18 Dec 2017 14:10:36
Yes Ed! Hendo had a great game. He makes such a difference to the team. As Ed said, he keeps the ball ticking along at a good pace trying to play the ball forward when he can and keeping it moving when he can't. He stretches teams back, forward and side to side. For the Hendo haters, I think you'll find players who want to play the ball forward constantly are Sunday league, overweight, pro footballer wannabes. Yes we've all seen them down your local park. Maybe you've been one yourself in your career. We love you captain fantastic!

Believable10 Unbelievable6

18 Dec 2017 17:09:29
Are all the thumb downs Sunday league footballers. 🤔.

18 Dec 2017 17:57:53
I would imagine the thumbs down are because you are trolling people.
What you're saying is your opinion, if people don't share it whether it be right or wrong doesn't mean other people are clueless, just that they don't agree with you.
In my opinion.

18 Dec 2017 18:12:58
Okay so in some people's opinion all Henderson does is pass sideways or back. Now that is just blatant lies. That's not an opinion that's idiotic. So I'm still thinking it's wannabes.

18 Dec 2017 19:18:59
Farmer, I agree with you in principle BUT the Sunday league stuff is OTT, IMO. Now If all Hendo does is sideways passing then why is Wiji not getting the beating he deserves then cos he plays more sideways and backward passes than Hendo does?

Also if sideways passing was the yardstick for measuring a players ability then Pep would have been deemed a useless player as he played sideways passes for most of his career at Barca. In fact, he got criticized for slowing the game down whenever the ball got to him.

But you know, let's use this pathetic excuse of a red herring to slate him cos it seems some are just interested in parroting what the other guy said w/ o any research.

18 Dec 2017 20:28:38
That's was me trying to be humorous. As long as you get my point. The Hendo haters just humour me. Thought I'd give a little back.

18 Dec 2017 23:39:01
No prob, Farmer.

18 Dec 2017 12:45:07
Credit where credit is due, in nine league games since Tottenham we have only conceded two ghost penalties (Everton and Brighton), one attempted cross (Chelsea) and one genuine goal (Lanzini) .

Believable13 Unbelievable1

18 Dec 2017 13:38:19
When you put it like that! Wish the media would wise up and credit Klopp.

18 Dec 2017 14:24:05
The defending has improved from defending set plays which people were very critical of last season and the beginning of this one. Seems to go unnoticed how well we've dealt with them recently.

18 Dec 2017 14:42:33
Who cares what the media thinks. As long as Klopp is learning from his mistakes then that’s fine with me.
I think all this rotation recently is so we don’t suffer catastrophic loss of fitness/ form like last Xmas.
I think we focus too closely on individual games and even individual players far too often, got to look at the season as a whole, the goal in the league this season is surely to try and get top 4 again to cement that position and I think we are reasonably well set to achieve that.
The only mistake I think Klopp is making is playing Migs over karius but I can see the reasoning behind it in that he wants to ease in karius gently so the “fans” don’t give him grief again.

18 Dec 2017 19:25:18
Spot on, Mikey. Klopp referred to the very issue you speak of in his post game comments last night that people get too hung up on individual games and players and lineups. There is NO picture approach to football anymore.

Klopp said that him rotating does not mean we win all our games as Everton and WBA games have shown. He said that those who don't play this game, train and are much more sharper and ready to play the next game than those who played in this game. This is simple logic BUT the media and those who take their crap as gospel truth cannot/ won't separate the two as they always seem to have a gripe.

Defensively, we have turned a corner and are much more solid w/ o compromising on who we are as a team which is, relentless and ALWAYS on the front foot. Massive credit to Klopp and the staff and players as they have risen from the near ashes of the Spurs debacle splendidly well. Hats off to Klopp and the boys!

Great review ed and I completely agree about ox in the interview. An absolute touch of class to help coutinho in a sticky moment.

18 Dec 2017 13:51:25
moving the ball that quickly just destroyed them, i wish we do this more often, it would help us far more in games where we are up against a team defending with 8 or 10 players.

the players we have upfront are very much capable of doing this. the unpredictability of just moving the ball quickly can take out multiple players at once.

great review ed001.

18 Dec 2017 13:13:22
Great review Ed001 nice one.

I have a quick question about Eddie Howe (only as he was mentioned in the review, hope that's ok) .

Do you think he's suffering from domestic manager syndrome, where he is viewed in a more favourable light simply because he's not foreign?

It seems to be happening more and more where just because a manager is British they are held up as being hard done by when they get sacked or not supported when criticised.

I remember Howe being talked about as Wenger's replacement, Gary Rowett was the next Brian Clough and how Phil Brown, Ian Holloway, Tony Mowbray and David Moyes keep getting work is beyond me.

DO you think there's an issue with fans and the media thinking that managers are better than they are simply because they are British? And do you think owners are sometimes hesitant to get rid of British managers and replace them with overseas managers because they fear the backlash?

Cheers in advance.

{Ed001's Note - very much so. People were even believing he did it on a shoestring because they never bothered to look into what actually happened. Their very own Abramovich bought the club and funded their rise. Howe was just lucky to be there at the right time to benefit.}

18 Dec 2017 13:32:29
Sorry Ed, have to disagree with you on firmino being up there with the best forwards in the league. To be on par with them he needs to add goals to his game, of which if he does he’ll be on the same level if not higher. I’m not saying he’s not a good player but let’s not get carried away with ourselves, as a forward he should be chipping in with more goals and that’s all he lacks. His skill set and his work ethic is great and I’m glad he plays for us.

{Ed001's Note - oh good the usual nonsense about him not scoring. Did you know his goal ratio is higher than Dalglish's? I thought that this season had finally put this stupidity to bed, considering he has scored more than a goal every 2 games, but obviously not. I really give up, I do not know what some people expect or whether you are just a troll. Maybe this is just a wind up, because 13 goals in 25 games is an excellent record.}

18 Dec 2017 13:59:10
Yes Ed! Hendo had a great game. He makes such a difference to the team. Kept us ticking along at a good pace. Hopefully he can play most games over Xmas with the break he has had recently.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed.}

18 Dec 2017 14:00:10
Brilliant Ed.

Completely agree on Howe by the way. Said very similar earlier this morning. I don't know how or why the media has elevated him to such a high position of appreciation, but i would not be surprised if i found out he does no defensive work in training.

I think this is the year they begin their fall back down the divisions. The average level in the Premier league has escalated so much and so quickly and in Bournemouth's team yesterday, the only players who were not with them in their first season in the top flight were Defoe, Begovic and Ibe. Defoe and Begovic are finished at the top level though, and Ibe is suffering at the hands of yet another manager who doesn't know how to utilise him. To still have the same defence and midfield that played in League 1 is just awful. The recruitment, and what Howe is getting out of the higher level players, is just not good enough. He looks like he's too loyal, and doesn't know any other way of playing.

Pleased to see you give Chamberlain a special mention. I really hope he uses this as a launch pad though!

{Ed001's Note - I have never understood the hype on Howe mate. I have been saying it for years and never will get it.}

18 Dec 2017 14:35:14
Good write up. The Charlie Daniels bit made me laugh.

18 Dec 2017 14:49:47
Oh dear Pegleg. Embarrassing post if I ever saw one. Better luck on your next post. 😏.

18 Dec 2017 15:18:10
Got to disagree on Howe mate. He's brought them through the leagues and deserves to be at Bournemouth even if they go down. We sit and slag managers like moyes fat sam hogson pardew pulis for all parking the bus. Howe at least wants his team to play football. He has the right mix between holloways blackpool all out attack and the ones I just mentioned.

18 Dec 2017 16:04:56
6 goals in the premier league, all I’m saying is he needs to add more goals to his game I’m not saying his poor at all. Embarrassing post? Not really because I dare to not go with what someone else has said instead of kisses arse and hanging off every word like it’s gospel!

18 Dec 2017 16:51:14
Benny i disagree. He has no balance at all. He's used his financial muscle o try and outspend the others. His record buy (Ake) was so bad yesterday, i actually forgot he was a new signing. He looks Championship standard, despite being one of the most talented youngsters in the country. The longer he has been at Bournemouth, the worse he has got.

Howe seems like he wants to play good football, and i think he must be good at motivating players who feel like underdogs. He gets the lesser players well up for games to the point that they're on par with his better players.

The fact that he can't get anything good out of the better players is a worry though. Playing the underdog card doesn't work on guys who expect to be winning games more frequently than what Howe has them doing. None of his signings in the last 3 years have even been remotely successful. That despite him spending upwards of £100m on players.

He is a bad coach, a terrible manager, non-existant tactically, but he is a decent motivator and talks a good game to the press. Quite literally a poor mans Brendan Rodgers. At least Rodgers was a decent coach who improved some players. I will be amazed if he keeps them up again. Whilst everyone else has improved each year, Stoke and Swansea have gone backwards, and Bournemouth and West Brom have stood still. They are quite comfortably the four worst teams in the league. I can see Newcastle getting sucked in too though if Rafa doesn't get backed in January. Howe has been found out at last and it's about time to be honest.

18 Dec 2017 15:42:29
Unbelievable pegleg, agreed Ed1, great read cheers mate.

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate.}

18 Dec 2017 17:07:35
It's just common sense Pegleg. Firmino is pivotal for Liverpool. He is playing fantastically well and has added goals to his game. He's not a number 9 who plays off the shoulder. He plays a mixture of a 9, a false 9 and a target man who constantly harasses opponents, starts the press. The man is like 4 players in one. An unbelievable selfless player who has now added more goals. Imagine him not being in the team. I'd have Firmino over anyone right now.

18 Dec 2017 19:22:26
How anyone can be critical on firmino is beyond me. Yes his goal stats may not be as good as a few strikers. But his work rate, movement and unselfish play allows like of salah, coutinho, mane etc to flourish. Watch the whole game not just the goals on match of the day and you will see a very clever hardworking no9.

18 Dec 2017 19:33:40
Ouch! Pegleg, quit while you are lagging behind cos frankly, your posts and rebuttal to Ed's response, were embarrassing.

18 Dec 2017 19:39:40
As for the analysis, it was a great one as usual, Ed. Like you, I don't know why people get on Hendo's back. I don't know for the life of me. The kid was brilliant along with Ox, in midfield and for me both should start vs Arsenal cos Arsenal do not like nbeing harried and pressed like Hendo can and Ox will definitely be up for it. I would switch Can for Wiji as Wiji goes missing in away games.

On one last point, I agree that Charlie Daniels went off due to Salah ripping him a new one at will. I will go as far as to infer that he feigned injury to come off cos it got to a point that he would no longer bother to try to get ahead of Salah anymore as he just gave up.

As for Eddie Howe, he is supremely naive, tactically inept and completely way over his head. Signings like Ake and Begovic would get a manager the sack if it were another team. Ake was particularly BANG awful all game. My word, the kid is just useless and Begovic has regressed and got what he deserved for slating us after we lost to Spurs. Howe is just the typical English manager getting a pass cos he's English cos De Boer got canned after 4 games where as Howe is a worse manager than he is.

{Ed025's Note - thats a bit unfair brover, hes a young man who has done very well considering the funds he has available and the standing of bournemouth, its a bit like telling a homeless person on the street begging to go out and get themselves a job...easier said than done mate..

18 Dec 2017 19:39:57
Put it this way if firminio left u would certainly realise how good firminio and it would hit us hard, his closing down tackling is amazing he is a box of tricks works so hard and scores an assists goals an he getting better.

{Ed025's Note - yeah hes brilliant, so are the rest of the team...i just cant fathom why you dont win everything each year hailstones?.. :)

18 Dec 2017 20:38:32
Pegleg, never worry about having your own opinion, it's far better than the alternative.

18 Dec 2017 23:41:09
Unfair to whom, Ed25? Howe or Ake?

{Ed025's Note - howe..

19 Dec 2017 09:40:47
I think the main plaudits for Howe are because he's a young manager who came to the PL and didn't do what every other team in recent years promoted to the PL did - played as defensive as humanly possible, by the quickest striker you can and try and scrape out a few wins and lots of draws to survive. Some might say it's because he doesn't know how to do or couldn't find the players to do it, some might say it's because he has balls and belief in how he wants his team playing. I can't judge, but I think that's the reason he gets so many plaudits and so much respect - he's yet to join the bus parking brigade.

Good assessment of Robertson that, I'm glad to be seeing more of him but if I had to choose, it'd be Moreno ahead of him (up to now) I never thought I'd say that. Moreno has impressed this season which I would never of guessed, looking forward to his return but at the same time would like to see Robertson more to see what he's capable of. For all we know he could turn out to be excellent, we'll see. Thanks Ed1.

18 Dec 2017 10:57:45
Agree with that, good post MK. I'm glad you mentioned his dribbling, his skill with the ball, at pace, is excellent. Hopefully he can push on, i believe an attribute like crossing is something that can drastically improved with training.

18 Dec 2017 10:48:16
It's fine Ed001. I was an eldest child of 3, so I'm used to being overlooked in favour of a younger and more intelligent man 😂

In all seriousness, I'm just really grateful to have the opportunity to write for the site mate. I am not bothered who gets credit. The site as a whole deserves it really, and i just do it for the love of writing and the love of football.

{Ed001's Note - you seem to have missed out the word much a couple of times there MKS ;-)

I am bothered though mate, at my age confusion is a very common occurence at the best of times, but when people are talking to me about your articles, I have to go check I didn't write it! I mean I know I don't remember doing it, but I don't remember what I just walked into the room for or that I put the kettle on 10 minutes ago to boil and the water has probably gone cold and I still have no cup of tea. So saying I don't remember writing it is as reliable as Benteke's penalty technique.}

What I liked better, that barely got a mention. Was his 2 brilliant headers in our 6 yard box just after his goal.

18 Dec 2017 12:59:15
It's a little hard to have sympathy with a fella on a hundred grand a week who is totally incompetent at his job! If he was going through a down turn in form then you stick with him and try and encourage to get him back to his level, sadly his level since we signed him has been rock bottom, i think he's uncoachable as he can't even do the basics right, stuff your taught as a school boy. Not his fault, if your poor your poor, but 100k a week is great for him awful for the rest of us.

18 Dec 2017 17:07:07
If you can’t have a little sympathy for a human being going through a tough time then you are not right in the head, it shouldn’t matter how much money he is earning. And we wonder why there is no loyalty in football anymore!

18 Dec 2017 18:30:29
Waro, Lovren did well last night.

18 Dec 2017 19:45:03
Waro, Did you know Lovren was a refugee whose family fled to Germany during the Yugoslavian civil war? Did you know that he and his wife have had a rough time and people threatened his life after the Spurs game and vandals bashed the windows of their home? You think 100k a week can erase the visions of war, death and distress during your childhood? Really? You are aware that there are more important things than football and money, right?

18 Dec 2017 05:24:36
Hi ed001,

What is your opinion on Steve McMahon as a player? Would appreciate it. He is working as a pundit in Malaysia so I've always wondered how he was as a player. Never got the chance to see him play.

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - McMahon was a very good player, but he was no Souness. He had bite and drive but bottled it against Wimbledon in the cup final, which is something Souness would never have done. That was the kind of match he would have dominated and taken charge of, while McMahon faded. He didn't have that absolute mastery of the game nor quite the passing range, but he was the closest thing we have had since.

He was a hard working, hard battling old school central mid, who could drive into the box and get back to protect the defence. His only real weakness, apart from bottling it against Wimbledon, was that he was a level down from Souness.}

18 Dec 2017 06:11:48
Oh the '88 Cup Final Ed still bloody brings tears to my eyes mate.

{Ed001's Note - it was not a good moment and showed why LFC's time of dominance was coming to an end. Too many inferior players replacing the better ones.}

18 Dec 2017 06:19:18
Remember that picture of Jones grabbing Gascoigne by the gonads? Well Souness would have had Jones by the throat😁.

{Ed001's Note - we really missed the likes of Souness and Case.}

18 Dec 2017 06:56:50
As Ed001 said, Souness and Case were immense. I’ve had the privalige of meeting Jimmy Case and he’s a very nice bloke.

18 Dec 2017 07:51:57
Case wasn’t a nice bloke on the pitch.

18 Dec 2017 08:38:33
Harry, clearly you never watched Damien Plessis.

Plessis was a world class defensive midfielder. Xabi Alonso once got dropped for him on the opening day of the season, and Plessis also scored a towering header against Spurs in the League Cup.

He was a French Depp lying playmaker who Rafa once said would compete with Steven Gerrard in midfield. You'd have loved him!

Arguably better than Djimi Traore and Andriy Voronin. What a player was Damien Plessis 😂.

18 Dec 2017 09:10:16
Hahaha Damien plessis yeah out the blue there that one up with David amoo.

18 Dec 2017 11:41:56
David Amoo.
Millwall youngster moved up to Liverpool youth.
I know the guy that claims he took Amoo up to Liverpool.
Asked why he brags about that and he has never mentioned it since.

18 Dec 2017 13:04:30
Plessis, as good as Jean Michel Ferri.

18 Dec 2017 13:31:32
Ah! Damien Plessis, David Amoo, Jay Spearing and those good ol days!
Our academy has come such a long way since then.

And David Raven?

{Ed's Note - we have posted a new article entitled, Premier League Match Preview Monday 18th December 2017

mostly impressed by you finding a picture of a toffee with a swan on it Ed001 haha.

{Ed001's Note - I never even knew they existed until I saw the pic.}

18 Dec 2017 04:40:19
Hi Ed01, I've been reading recent articles about Sadio mane's lack form. It's just like Journalists are trying to make mountains out of molehills because basically that's what they do for a living.
It's true he should have passed the ball instead of shooting. The talk of Mane being selfish, started after that game if I am correct. Also how can people accuse him him of being jealous when we know that he assisted Salah many times when they were playing together. It's just like wingers have to keep scoring all the time, if they fail to find the net for two or three games people get on top of their backs.
Do you really think he is doing that bad at the moment?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is not doing well at the moment, but it is not really an issue, he had an injury and came back off form. It happens, especially when a player recovers as quickly as him, it is in the back of his mind, imo. And yes he is greedy and selfish at times, but that is why he scored so many goals. I am sure he will be back to his best by the end of the Christmas period.}

18 Dec 2017 04:55:04
Thank you for the quick response Ed01.

{Ed001's Note - you are welcome mate.}

18 Dec 2017 05:03:25
I don't think he is a selfish player per se just that in the derby is was an exceptionally selfish moment and one which reflected poorly on him. It doesn't mean he is the worlds worst he is simply off form and trying too hard - all he needs a is a goal or two to give him the confidence and he'll be flying again. Not sure whether i'd start him against Arsenal though, the attack looked very good without him vs Bournemouth though I think both his and Salah's pace would give Arsenal nightmares.

{Ed001's Note - you have to be selfish to take a shot on from range, as the team option is to maintain possession and look to get in closer with a pass. It is not a bad thing to have a bit of selfishness within the team framework and I don't really see why that moment is such a big deal. He is human and chose the wrong option in a split second. Nothing more.}

18 Dec 2017 06:58:56
If now shows the depth we have in these certain positions and I think it’s healthy and good for the team that players have to fight their way back.

18 Dec 2017 07:05:44
In my opinion Mane got caught up in the hype about having the chance to be the first ever player to score in his first 3 Merseyside derbys. I'm sure this was an isolated incident and he will be back to form soon. Salah has shot when he should have passed at times but the Mane incident was amplified because it would have killed off the game.

18 Dec 2017 07:35:30
I think Salah's form may be playing on Sadio's mind a bit. Its possible he feels a little left out and is trying too hard to be the top man again. I hope he is aware that the LFC fans are fully behind him (at least I am) and that he will be a valued member of the first team.
But its also testament to the fact that our team has grown past being a one man army and the absence of even a player of Mane's quality was not missed much against Bournemouth.

18 Dec 2017 08:02:47
Klavy, I'm not sure Mane was aware of that statistic and if he was, then it showed a complete lack of focus on his part. The team comes first. Like Ed, I don't think Mane is selfish as there were no signs of that last season. However, he is thinking or overthinking things way too much, IMO.

On that play vs Everton, it was a rush of blood cos he looked to the side and prolly saw the players screaming for the pass BUT in a split second, he made the wrong choice and boom went the dynamite. I was critical of him at the time BUT Ed has explained the situation perfectly.

Let me be clear, Sadio Mane is a brilliant player and we would not have had the success relatively, last season w/ o him in the side. That is a known fact. Now, he is going thru a rough time so it is up to Klopp and his team mates to help him out cos we need him this season.

18 Dec 2017 09:17:58
I hope him an klopp haven't had a falling out we know wat happens in that situation look wat happened too sahko, mane could feel he is not in his favoured position Salah came along an gobbled that up but who could argue wat mo is doing in that position is world class, the media have started this fab 4 crap but it's nice we can rotate that 4 an still look deadly.

18 Dec 2017 09:25:48
it amazing how many resident psychologists are on this page! i think ed and Brover have summed it up.

18 Dec 2017 12:50:57
Big players have big ego's big managers also have big ego's so any falling out is not healthy, nothing surprises me these days as players can be petulant, but yes I agree watching Liverpool for 30 years has turned me into a phsyco analyst psychologist.

18 Dec 2017 02:41:10
I watched Ox when he was at Arsenal, I saw quiet a lot of him as probably many of you did as well. To me that was the best performance I've ever seen of him I know he didn't score but scoring isn't everything, the lad had a fantastic game and fully deserved man of the match, I see a bright future for this kid at Liverpool.

When he signed for us, Liverpool fans, including me was moaning about the transfer and it not making much sense, etc etc. Arsenal fans, the majority was laughing at it, thinking they got a good deal from us. It's funny now isn;t it? See today wasn't his only good performance, he's had a good few now, to me he is just improving every game, good luck to the kid. He is proving doubters wrong and I couldn't be more happier for him.

We got it right today, absolutely perfect in every aspect, I just wish this is how it could be every game!

Anyway, on wards and upwards, time to get Arsenal dealt with, for me, Ox has to start! He in my opinion will want to prove a point, he seems hungry for it, he must be a starter now.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - Arsenal away will be a game where we need hard workers, tenacity, pace, power and guile the Ox displayed all and more today. A few errant passes that could have led to chances/breakaways but there’s always room for improvement. I would for sure start him against his old mates I think he’ll be a man possessed and eager to prove the doubters wrong namely Arsenal fans. I think Mane is a passenger at the moment and we can’t afford to carry anybody at the Emirates. Can’t wait for this game though they will be looking to avenge their mauling at Anfield and we’ll be looking to cement 4th place. Roll on Friday!

18 Dec 2017 07:05:34
When we bought the Ox, I had a snoop at the Arsenal page and they were all ripping him to shreds.

If he plays on a Friday I hope it doesn’t turn out like it did for Moreno when he played against Sevilla away.

We will have to be at our very best on Friday, we saw yesterday how suspect we can be against pace, Defoe put though with a defence splitting pace, something Arsenal are back to doing well again this season.

18 Dec 2017 07:37:57
Mane should start at the Emirates without question. Leaving him out again will just dent his confidence further. And let's be honest, a fully firing Mane is our most complete player (Bobby aside) . Chambo may yet have to wait a little while to be a regular starter and I would bring him on after the hour mark to run at a tired Gunner defense.

18 Dec 2017 08:06:18
Spot on, Ed. The Arsenal game is made for the likes of Hendo and Ox in midfield as they are relentless, grafters and and pure terriers on the pitch in CM and we know the likes of Xaka, Ramsey and Ozil wilt under such pressure. I would start that midfield duo (prolly bring in Can for Wiji) vs them cos these are the games Hendo thrives on as he was brilliant last night as well as Ox, who will have a point to prove. Pretty sure after that game, The Arsenal fans are hoping Klopp rotates and does not play Ox. Bring it on, Arsenal!

18 Dec 2017 08:52:23
I Liked when we signed him because I thought we needed a winger to back up Salah and Mane, but I never realized he could actually have a future for us at Centre Mid. I like the way he doesn't play the boring pass, he is always looking to make things happen even if they do not always go right for him he will try and try again. Very impressed with his tackling as well yesterday which I didn't know he had in his locker.

18 Dec 2017 09:11:46
I agree with all above, I can't wait for the Arsenal game I really can't I think it's ours for the taking! - I agree with Mane been a passenger atm, it's a gamble in any game putting him on at the min but when he's himself he's up there with Salah, who knows, we put him on against Arsenal he could smash a couple in, he's another one in my opinion who will probably want to hit the ground running and get back in form especially after having yesterday off. The lad is top quality on his day, I would personally like to see him play, minor rough patch for him, nothing too much to be concerned about. Having said this, I wouldn't mind if the team from yesterday didn't change, going on that performance who can moan.

18 Dec 2017 09:17:32
The Arsenal fans I know we're all desperate for him to sign a new deal and blamed Wenger for a lot of the problem. They all felt under Klopp he could be fantastic player as in the last 6 months there out of position as a wing back he had been one of there best players and showed it in cup final. As soon as signed for Lfc they all but 1 of them said he was rubbish! Fickle or what.

18 Dec 2017 00:49:38
Does Ox play against arsenal? Great game today and surely will be fired up to face his old squad

Does Mane play? Yep he is a tad of but mane has been an arsenal killer.

Do you play both?

Believable4 Unbelievable1

18 Dec 2017 02:05:15
I really loved his crunching tackles yesterday.

18 Dec 2017 02:30:51
Both for me but if it had to be a choice to be quiet honest going on the Ox performance today it'd be him ahead of Mane.

18 Dec 2017 07:40:39
Mane starts, no questions asked. Yes its a bit unfair on Chambo but Mane running rings around Bellerin will be a sight to behold. Or maybe Coutinho can be rested and Chambo plays with Hendo and Can in midfield to offer more protection to our fullbacks. Either way Mane and Salah need to be on the pitch against Arsenal.

18 Dec 2017 08:07:53
Ox plays vs Arsenal as he is the exact player along with Hendo, that we need in CM as they are relentless pressers and grafters and we know Arsenal don't like those types of games. Mane can come on later when Salah has already run them into the ground.

18 Dec 2017 09:40:33
He played well yesterday but let's all calm down one swallow dint make it summer.
