18 Apr 2013 23:32:28
The champions league is a bit special b, but to. Move to arsenal spurs etc for the chance of 8 games max cannot just be the reason for moving to a so called C L club. We are Liverpool and when we do get in the C L we play to win. If players like eriksen can't see the potential in us then we will get someone who does. Like coutino and sturridge. Not the most wanted in europe but are showing there hunger. So stop worrying about players overlooking us, because I would rather have the hungrry players rather than C L wage leeches. ynwa

19 Apr 2013 07:47:12
hahahhaha.
8 games. these 8 games a year makes a player what he is all about.
and only. and only. top teams enters this 8 games.
Liverpool does not come into that.
CL. is what every footballer dreams of being in it.

Harry mate your like a more pessimistic personic version of waro. Everywhere I look just making pointless pessimistic posts give it a rest

London red

19 Apr 2013 10:40:50
dude. me being a possitive guy through out.
but if someone ask me to jump from the top of a tower. and u say I still need to be optimistic in landing on two legs.

and what's this about Cl. the first poster doesn't have any clue on football and Cl and the money, fame, delals. all involved.

I think what Hanman is saying Harry is that most players don't just dream of playing in the CL, they dream of winning it. Compare us to a team like Arsenal which is stuck in a go-nowhere rut and maybe a selling point of Liverpool is a plan for significant forward momentum, not just to get into the CL spots and hold on for as long as possible

Someone's life shouldn't always be measured by achievement.
Sometimes a better measure of a person is, what they have had to overcome in life.
God Bless Anne Williams for never giving up the fight for Truth and Justice. R. I. P

Ed1 - 'Dedé agora é do Cruzeiro' - any further comment on Dede? Sorry, but I don't like being corrected on Brazil news. but I do value your work!
14/04 - Was reported over the weekend in Brazil that Dede would be moving to Brazilian club Cruzeiro.
LFC Brazil
{Ed001's Note - no, it was reported that an offer was rejected for him from Cruzeiro actually. } {Ed001's Note - I was merely saying the reports said the offer was rejected, which it was. They returned with a better offer, but at that time they had 100% rejected the offer.}

18 Apr 2013 22:29:00
Top young elite players like Eriksen will not join LFC. Why should he? If he stayed at Ajax he would be playin Champ league next season. LFC have no hope of European football for maybe two seasons or more.
If we could sign Benteke or Diame that would help.

Unfortunatley Borini, Allen, Sturridge are the type of buys we are in for from now on. The odd one maybe like Coutinho may shine.

Lets hope we can get out of this rut

Yes he would play in the c. l but he knows his team will not win it.

18 Apr 2013 22:19:16
Alright lads, I'd just like to say how impressed I have been with Jordan Henderson, Jose Enrique and Stewart Downing this season! Them along with the youth players have been one of the highlights of the season for me! Henderson is proving why we paid 16m for a future England captain, Downing has improved a lot on his form last season, and Enrique has gone from a player I used to worry about when I seen him on the teamsheet, to one of the best players in our team! So a big congratulations to them on their improvement! We may not be where we want to be right now but things like that are promising and motivating for us going forward.

I'd also like to comment on the Andy Carroll situation. I feel if nobody offers more than 15m for him I reckon we should keep him. He is great in the air, a good Plan B and was in great form before he went on loan to West Ham. Could still be a good backup if he is willing to accept a role from the bench.

I don't think this has been too bad season for us. Youth players involved more in the team, great football, players improving, and most importantly, justice has been served. Rest In Peace Anne Williams and thank you for all you have done for the club and city of Liverpool. Gone but never forgotten. Rest In Peace angel. You'll Never Walk Alone.
Cheers,
LS7.

19 Apr 2013 07:49:52
downing is going to be sold this summer.
players like him will keep our club in 7th to 8th position every year.
and BTW. whom do u prefer. Liverpool the club or players?
Henderson future captian of england. yes.
but he will never make it to the spain team.
can u imagine him replacing fabrigas?

Seeing as Henderson is English I can't se him playing for Spain. Also downing couldn't have got any worse let's face it. And I know Lucas has come back from injury, but for me apart from fouling to break up the player offers nothing. Diame needs to be bought. Can pass, tackle and score

19 Apr 2013 10:01:01
Absolutely right. Lucas to me is the most overrated player in that squad who only found his level when we lost Mascherano and Alonso. No wonder we've been unable to move beyond 7th and 8th position ever since he became a regular. If Diame is available for 4m, then its a no brainer for me. Hopefully, kelly will sit out Johnson next season. Enrique too needs competition, just like Gerard and Sturidge. We must have in place at least a 23-man squad competing for first team position if we ever want to move above 7th.

Eds fellow reds. Was Kirsten eriksern (spelling)at Ajax when Luis Suarez was there. Just wondering. {Ed002's Note - She was.}

And kind words from King Kenny too about her.

Anyone else miss dirk kuyt? I do

Neil

If it wasnt for his workrate then he would be classed as a failure, he gave so much for the team he truly is one of the modern greats.

Anonymous woolback

I wouldn't of minded keeping him and Craig Bellamy this year oh what I difference they would have made

Oh yeah forgot bellers. Proper loved him as a player and person.

Neil

Both of those players wanted to leave, and neither would have been particularly likely to make a difference - as able and spirited as they had been, both of their fitness and workrates noticeably dropped last season

RIP Anne Williams, thankyou for making so many people aware of the fight for justice and the truth. Justice 96

18 Apr 2013 20:05:23
Hi Eds,

Why haven't Liverpool ever had any connection with Tranmere rovers? By this I mean loaning Tranmere our best youngsters I. e Morgan and McLaughlin? after all Tranmere play at a good level and with us loaning them players it could only be a win win situation for both.

Limpy {Ed002's Note - The same reason there is no link with Grimsby.}

18 Apr 2013 21:26:54
Which is? {Ed002's Note - Irrelevant.}

There was a link with Crewe at one stage, not sure if that's still going.

Didn't we all have to change at Crewe?

18 Apr 2013 20:05:22
Think Steven Defour would be worth a punt for the right price. Isn't having a great time at Porto and they may be interested in getting rid.
Could be a steal if he rediscovers his old form and we get him for a decent fee.

Jonesred

Maybe not him exactly but trust me I think Rogers will come out with a few forgotten men like he worked with youth a lot so I wrecking he has watched the progress of players under the radar!

18 Apr 2013 20:03:53
Alright ed, I think c. eriksen would end up abroad Spain maybe Paris? Is it realistic to think maybe xabi alonso to make a come back you think? Are Liverpool going to negotiate on bringing in tom ince?
Cheers mate {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

18 Apr 2013 20:02:28
As a Manchester United fan I hope you lot lose every game and obviously take huge amusement at your failure to qualify for any involvement in any meaningful european competition, as indeed I would expect you to feel about us if the boot were on the other foot. But I would like to use these pages to say how sad I am at the death today of Anne Williams, heroic campaigner for the Hillsborough 97 and how ironic and unjust the world is when that appalling woman Thatcher is given such great reverence in a week when a truly great woman, who deserved so much greater reverence, dies before her time. How sad it is she never lived to see the revised inquest tell how her son might have lived if Thatchers police had told the truth and made real attempts not to cover up the death of her son and so many others. RIP ANNE John the (Mancunian)Red

Well said John excellent post, even the refreshing honesty of the first part, touching sentiments. R. I. P. Anne hope you can find peace now your back with your son, god bless you both!

Waro

Respect to John. We are in a world of troubled standards. RIP Anne.

Andy K

Nice one

Nice one john a lot of man u fans know the truth and its not always the victim never the blame, all lfc fans admire man u for lots of things and people like you and man u them selves with their tributes to the 96 are doing things the right way so thanks from red mick tag.

Hi Eds,

How much is the Jack Wolfskin 3 year deal worth?

Thanks

Limpy {Ed002's Note - A small amount.}

Ed were is the site that i'd go to, to find out how much liverpoool will receive for that deal?thanks

majestic69 {Ed002's Note - I have no idea.}

50 tents, 10 waterproof jackets and a pair of size 8 hiking boots.

About 732 billion trillion zillion.

18 Apr 2013 19:53:28
Eds do you know of any interest in Carroll from any clubs apart from West Ham and Newcastle? Do you know of any foreign teams that retain any interest in him?

I really think the best possible deal for us will be a foreign offer (which would also depend on Carroll wanting it) or a player plus cash deal with one of the two above teams.

I really don't want to see him loaned out again next season, only for him to return again next summer.

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

Aqualani loan deals etc spring to mind another waste of a lot of money, carroll could be another no one wants to buy.

18 Apr 2013 18:54:50
Ed 2

Why'd you have to dismiss my post like?
Fair enough, the Fisher, Carrol and Cebellos part am not 100% sure myself.
But about Aldewereild, even you yourself have mentioned on these pages that a deal nigh nailed on for the summer.

As for Eriksen, it's well known he's off summer. His preferred options Real and Barca remain as ever unlikely to move in for him. Man United and Arsenal have other priority areas. His already rejected City and Chelsea and as of tonight is likely to do so again.
Whatever Italian 'interest' there may be will amount to nothing as they'll be typically full of rubbish, messing about and not fork out.

It will come down to us and the scousers, in the prem. Spurs here have to be automatic favourites. Eriksen has more than often expressed his admiration of Spurs as a club and our project.

I honestly don't see matters turning out otherwise. Even in the unlikely event he doesn't end up at the Lane, who can see him at Liverpool? I don't, you don't. No one except only the myopic, deluded scouse majority. {Ed002's Note - The post was dismissed because of the concise explanation I was kind enough to provide. It was BS. Spurs do not have agreements in place to take Eriksen, Aldewereild, Fischer etc..}

18 apr 2013 21:05:35
very annoying post. its rich coming from a 'nearly club'. why would he join liverpool over spurs? maybe because we have an institution that people worldwide know. we may not be where we want to be but we will alwaus have the ability to come back because of who we are! we are liverpool football club, we are a brand, we are a legacy, we are a family. spurs will never have what our family has here. as for eriksen. if we do sign him, i would like you to be the first to come here and apologise for being so chauvanistic and outright cheeky.

ynwa. by the way i enjoyed our meeting at anfield ;)

Everton will sell Felliani for a big price and Moyes will spend the cash on Leroy Fer and Andy Carrol. The young Lad Barkley will form a good partnership in the CM for them and as they like to get width and cross into the box Andy will prosper and go on to be athorn in our side.
What a horrible dream.

18 Apr 2013 17:59:46
Im sick and tired of all so called Liverpool supporters on here calling for rodgers head! BR has had an up and down first season with a lot more positives than negatives and has got rid of a lot of people who quite frankly shouldn't have been at the club in the first place. We are all on here with our Ideal wishlist for santa claus with names of players taken off other gossip sites and wanting the club to sign a player they signed on champ manager! The reality is BR is only starting, bringing through some talented youth, changing a lot in such a short time and still producing attractive football. we have very little money to Waste - FACT. we have spent OVER 20m on sacking managers since 2010. With sacking a manager 9 times out of 10 his team go with him. then there is the cost to buy new players a new manager wants and getting rid of any unwanted players. this is not news for anyone, people should stick with what we have, get behind it and try and build on it, not call for a mans head every week. we are no chelsea after all. Liverpool were never a sacking club and were always a supportive encouraging club for anyone with a crest from the manager to the tea lady, let's not forget who we are and what we represent!
rant over, thanks for reading!

Good post man. if only all the people thought like you.

Spot on mate.
Warr68

Most Liverpool fans feel exactly the same, but do not have the inclination to reply to the person minority.

I agree rogers needs another year, but if we lose suarez this summer I think were doomed to mid table rubbish for the forseeable future, we need 3 CLASS signings along with luis staying to be in contention again.

You can go on speculating about players going in and out of the club for next season all you want. The fact is Brendan is not good enough as a Manager. He will never do anything for Liverpool. All talk and no results.

Thats very un-impatient of you. What do you suggest we do? find another manager waste another year on changing things around like backroom staff, trainning staff, our formation the way we play, ect ect. Un-consistency is the last thing we need BACK the manager up let's get some consistency in our training, staff ect ect and move forward let's stop stalling and being so negative.

Way to go about being positive, Give him a couple of bloody seasons before you decide to slag him and his abilities off you muppet

Well said. Taxi for Rodgers.

Completely agree. give tge man a chance

18 Apr 2013 17:11:34
Carrol is certainly causing some debate today.
Where does everybody think he will end up?
I can see him staying at west ham. But at a much lower price than the 18m.

MIKEY

If Newcastle go down and lose some of their players they might have to fork out to keep the fans from rioting.
Besides they pay £20m, they make £15m and he goes back a better and fitter player.

18 Apr 2013 17:10:26
Scott Sinclair. How tasty you look sitting on that bench gathering dust

18 Apr 2013 17:00:34
People on this site saying crazy stuff like Liverpool won't attract good young players I for one think it's crazy especially with the fact of say Sinclair young ambitious player who can't get a look in surely you want to go to a team where you no match your ambitions and you'll get your game seriously anyone?

I think Scott sinclair is wasted at city he's just gethering dust & weight on that bench

Exactly my point so say Erikson for example maybe he will pick us over say city so he'll get a game and chance to grow e.g jack rodwell can't get a game while coutinho is playing and loving life use it as a example!!!

So you comparing Sinclair to Erikson?

No in using him as a example of young people moving for money rather then playing time like Sinclair rodwell Mario Marin de Byren (spelling) and many many more you no young players going to those clubs become forgotten men

De Bruyne? He is on loan at Wolfsberg and has played almost every game

Yeah him but he didn't get a chance at the club he moved to is my point {Ed002's Note - It was agreed from the very start that he would go out on loan from Chelsea. Many clubs build for the future by sending players out on loan for experience rather than have them kicking their heels on the bench.}

my ideal summer in's:-

fingers crossed we also hold onto everyone we need.

18 Apr 2013 16:39:23
We can talk about plan A or B but if the manager has no plan apart from a philosophy and inexperience I feel our doldrums will continue. I still believe Carroll would have been very useful to us and BRs inexperience laid down the foundation for his departure. All his purchases are debatable including Sturridge, Coutinho may turn out to be an exception. His reluctance with Suso and now Sterling is demoralising our talent at hand. He runs the show with knee jerk reactions. Dropping Skertel and Coates at the first few mistake has demoralised players. I hope the owners have another knee jerk decision in changing the helm. I bet our decline will continue till the end of season. I am sorry but at 57 I don't mince my words but it hurts to see my beloved LFC being duped by a clown.

100% agree

Also agree 100%

Alibabainoz, have you actually watched the games. Or is it that you do not understand the game if you have? Clueless.

Andy K

Andy K I never miss a game I even get up and watch the games at 3 am western Australian time when the games are at 8pm uk time. Just bury your head in the sand and you will soon realise who is clueless.

18 Apr 2013 15:11:54
Andy has played well for west Ham to be honest. and looks like there safe now.
I know it was a crap loan agreement Ed but don't we get an extra payment for that?
RNred {Ed002's Note - For him playing well?}

If west Ham stay up? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what the terms of the contract are.}

The rumour was that west ham would have to buy him if they stayed up. But I am guessing it was just made up rubbish from the papers.

MIKEY {Ed002's Note - Ugly rumours Mikey.}

18 Apr 2013 15:06:22
Eds,

Am I correct in believing Jen Chang had a major influence in the Sahin and Assaidi signings? Aparently, these were not BR's choices. Could well be wrong but this is what I've heard.

Apples '96' {Ed002's Note - Jen Chang is a PR guy - he didn't pick players.}

Where did Blair Mayne go?

Was he promoted?

Talk to me.

DaveyBootle {Ed002's Note - I am sorry but we are not able to discuss the matter in public Davey.}

Sound.

Where did COYB go?

Anyone remember the old days?

She was hard work.

Promoted or banned?

DaveyBootle {Ed002's Note - She'll be back in September (with good behavior) or January 2014.}

Baffled as to why we can't discuss Blair Mayne in public?
Is this for real?
RedPower {Ed002's Note - If I could I would answer taht, but obviously I can't.}

Who is Blair Mayne {Ed002's Note - Who Is Bozo Texino would be a better question.}

I'll be honest, that's made me really curious now as to why he can't be mentioned in public!
Thanks anyway ed!
you love leaving people on the edge!

18 Apr 2013 17:41:00
he has had triplets, that's all, ed02 is just trying to be mysterious

LFC {Ed002's Note - Do you believe everything you read?}

I was in the Lamb and Vulture today as the domino team have won another championship and the darts team captained by Jonson have won a clean sweep of competitions again this year so I was commissioned to make a new trophy cabinet (I made it in idigbo with a sapele inlay, looks nice!) and I definitely saw Blair disappear up the backstairs with the barmaid. He reappeared about half an hour later and Sparky took him for a run. Sparky told me later that they hadn't been able to go far as Blair was exhausted.

{Ed002's Note - She'll be back (with good behavior). }

=======================================

I don't want to discuss it but if you may Ed002; can you give me A or B answer:
A : Are you speculating?
B: You know this as a fact you heard through a grapevine dangling somewhere on the information highway?

I do miss his/her funny posts on the united pages

{Ed002's Note - She will one day return to again be a speedbump on the information super highway.}

Or even Ken Aguero. Arrrgghhhh not again
All the best Mr & Mrs Mayne and the new arrivals:0)

Blair was on here a few months ago. He has a few new babies so they take up his time now. I have to admit that some of the personalities a gone now and the site is poorer without them. Now its just a battle grpund to be honest. Puts you of posting.

The Irish Rover

He's having you all on

Good question Ed. Bozo Texino was the 18 yr old lad we bought from Sporting Lisbon. True fact!! :)

18 Apr 2013 14:59:25
Hey just a quick question to any of you. I want to know what's happend to Hicks & Gillett are LFC having anymore problems with them or is it all done and dusted? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were sold by them nearly three years ago. I am pretty sure it was in the news at the time.}

I believe they were trying to claim damages from us, or maybe a board member? Not 100% on this any insight would be helpful ed. the sarcastic comments are funny but sometimes looks like your trying patronise, not having a pop expressing my opinion.

13reds {Ed002's Note - You clearly have misinterpreted something. There is nothing whatsoever including the club in any claim they may have against banks or ex-directors. So it is not me being patronising but you being a DF.}

18 Apr 2013 14:56:02
We should look at Alex Song from barca for defensive midfield. Has played for 2 fantastic football sides in arsenal and barca but also has grit to mix it up a bit. He is probably available at cut down price aswell under £10m I would say would be a steal! Can also play Centre back if needed for cover.

Alves

Not good enuff, would rather have Flamini from AC Milan

18 Apr 2013 14:51:23
Arsenal Fan here.

I would like to ask, what the thoughts are of Suarez staying on with Liverpool, and the likely departures from your Club.

Also I am aware that you guys are on hard times, but like most things in life. everything has its ups and downs. Liverpool had an Era of domination, where they won trophies and now its their turn to find that magic again.

and I can bet you once red nose resigns, it will be a managerial rollercoaster at OT. or they won't be winning as much as they have. its all a matter of luck and timing.

Barcelona will never have this team again, and so on and so forth. look at the Teams of saachi, and so on. you can't replicate luck. it just happens that some of the best players happen to be the best team at that time.

So from a fan who is also under this same roller coaster. you have to chin up and look to a future.

Lakerville

Suarez has stated he is happy, Ian Ayre has recently insisted that he is not for sale, Rodgers has repeatedly suggested that the player is happy, Carragher has recently been quoted as saying that he is sure the player will be here for another season yet many people are still under the impression he will go, which, to be quite fair, is ridiculous. Yes, teams are interested but due to the player signing a contract extension the club are confident that the suggested transfer fee will be the same the following season. Money does talk, but money will continue to talk week-in-week-out when a player of Suarez' status is playing for Liverpool. Personally, I'm sure he'll be here next season, but if the club then decide to sell (or the player gets twitchy feet) then he'll probably leave for a larger inflated price than what he would have if he left at the end of this season.

Louis Suarez will continue to be an asset and is prime club capitol.

Good luck to Arsenal.

Well I hope he stays.

But I have a feeling Pep may have other ideas. perhaps creating a barcelona in Bayern.

Thanks for making some fair points, and if I was a gooner I'd be wary of those calling for Wenger's head, because if he goes you'll be lucky to get someone of the same quality to replace him.

Personally I think Suarez will go. I think that LFC not even getting Europa league next year will be the final straw for him.
I do think if LFC had gotten back into the CL this year, he would've stayed- he's given the club two and a half seasons. Although we are improving we're still some way off the top four standard, with no guarantee things will continue to get better next season.

You never know, he may give it one more year out of loyalty to the club, but this summer he'll have the pick of several offers from top CL clubs, and what player at their peak wouldn't be tempted by that?

18 Apr 2013 17:44:12
i think suarez will go and we won't replace, probs waste the cash. can't see utd going anywhere for a long time myself mate, and we could easily go the way leeds have under brendon.

Erm gooner think your club on hard times mate you have not won a trophy since wenger had colour in his hair

18 Apr 2013 14:41:36
Dying to get something off of my chest regarding andy carroll, everybody regards him as a player who can only use his head and i'm guessing people say this because he is a monster in the air, but just because of this doesn't mean to say he can not progress as a player because if you take crouch for example, he is huge and can use his head very well but when he played for us in his younger years he proved that just because he was tall and was good at heading doesn't mean he can't play with the ball on the deck and this was proved by the amount he was scoring after he got his first goal. I think the same applies with carroll, apart from the fact that we could use him for defending and attacking corners which is what we are in need of, he could in time prove that he is capeable of playing real football, the Liverpool way. at the moment carroll looks unplayable, and this isn't why I am stating this because when carroll is free of injury and gets a few games under his belt he is a very good player and to let him go for as little as 7 million pounds is an outrage, give the lad a chance I say because I guarantee that he will soon be scoring and helping out his team week in week out. with brendan rodgers in charge I would like to think he could help him and train him to be able to play our way, on the floor and if he does this carroll will be a top player.
as always I would love peoples opinions on what has been said

Jackoo

Have you forgotten that everytime he tries to dribble the ball he either loses it from a heavy touch or stumbles over. If any other player reguarly turned up to training sporting a hangover twice a week then people would want rid of them. Can't understand why you would want to keep the biggest square peg we could find? He seems like a nice guy and had a few decent games for us but get over him mate!

Fowler99

God he has TWO half decent games for West Ham ALL SEASON and people go nuts and want him back. Rodgers asked him in the summer what he wants and Carroll told him that he doesn't want to be a squad player.
End of.

Crouch naturally had a brilliant first touch.

18 Apr 2013 14:05:37
I don't think Carroll looks anything like Plan B. Andy's got long hair while Plan B has got short hair for starters.

Instead of a 'plan B' we should buy players who can actually score goals in the first place!

Suarez and Gerrard are the only players who Liverpool can look at for the goals, however if we had forwards alongside Suarez who can finish, then we probably would not need a 'plan B'.

Would you prefer to have a similar starting 11 next season with AC on the bench or a better starting 11 with no AC on the bench?

I'll stick with Arda Turan and Ben Arfa alonside Suarez, who I believe would strengthen our attack, and if we could bring in a player such as Eriksen, then we should be able to finish off games without having to worry about a 'plan B'.

18 Apr 2013 14:18:56
excellent post.
i have been pleading this from quiet a long time.
by the time andy caroll control a ball.
turan or ben arfa will score 5 goals.

Can't believe the stick AC gets! You do realise he's still our player? Love the support our lads get. Just a quick reminder that he almost won us the FA cup and if it wasn't for him it would have been an embarrassing 4/5 -0 score

I have given AC no criticism. In fact I was always willing him to do well for Liverpool and also now at West Ham, however my point is that Liverpool do not need a 'plan B'. They need to improve 'Plan A'. I do think that Liverpool should consider having AC back in the squad, but AC must understand that he would not be guaranteed a starting place in the team and needs to work hard to earn that privilege. If he knuckles down and trains hard i'm sure he will one day prove his doubters wrong.

Due to Rodgers failings this season we will not attract any young top elite young players such as Eriksen as we will have no European football.

We will only sign young average talent like Borini.

BR has no choice his target has to be CL football so the players his is after have to get Liverpool into the top four, with the expirie of contracts over the next 2 seasons Liverpool can get the young or experianced players that BR wants, so in effect it could take 3 transfer windows to get a realy strong competative Liverpool squad, it won't happen over night, get used to it. Red Lifer

18 Apr 2013 13:46:45
Eriksen will not join LFC, due to no European Football next season.
Unfortunatley due to the LFC demise, this is now a problem in attracting top level young players.

It's obvious that Liverpool are interested, yet any suggestion that we would be successful in his purchase is in our wildest dreams as we simply cannot compete financially with other interested parties. Players of that caliber are effectively auctioned off.

DaveyBootle

If tht was his main concern he would already be a chelsea or man city player but he turned them down, {Ed002's Note - Manchester City is very much back on the agenda for him now.}

Well if we can't attract those sort of players, then we have to do what Swansea and Newcastle do and that is go out and find a few gems like ben arfa, michu vorm Williams etc etc. Maybe time to take a hard look at our scouting

And where are Newcastle Red jack?

18 Apr 2013 13:41:46
I hope come sunday rafa gets the welcome he deserves which no doubt he will but I hope if things aren't going well for us the fans start singing his name get behind rodgers his our man for now/future rafa will never walk alone but come 4oclock his our opposition COME ON the REDS JON96

I hope rafa gets abused so he leaves Liverpool managers alone with all his smart comments about taken over to put Rogers underpressure is a absolute joke

Rafa will get a lot of respect from the Anfield crowd on Sunday, I can't believe anybody thinking differently. The guy loves Liverpool, the club and the city, that's good enough for me.

teams have already showed that they know how to counter BR style of play, if we don't add a different dimension to our attack then even bring messi and ronaldo to our team we won't get anywhere because it is so obvious that we are predictable

18 Apr 2013 14:11:24
no dude.
barca has been playing the system from quet a lonr time. no matter how much predictble they are. still they are untouchble.
xavi, iniesta, meesi, pedro, villa.

No harry, teams have proven that barca can be beaten. look at chelsea last year. parked the bus, couldn't be broken down

Yes the difference they have messi, xavi, inesta, pedro ect. Only person in our team who gets close is Suarez. Other than that Lucas/Hendo or xavi/inesta. See the difference?

18 Apr 2013 18:54:47
they are beaten 1 out of 100. per year.
and that's never a problem for any team.

Sorry to disappoint you lads. There's NO agreement between Ajax and Liverpool for transfer of Eriksen. One is however in place for him to switch to the Lane, as there is for his teammate Aldewereild. Discussions have been on going the last 3 months. An announcement will likely be made shortly before end of season.

Since Vertonghen transaction, Spurs and Ajax have since developed a good working relationship and many transactions between the two are expected. Already, Spurs have agreed to send Tom Carroll and Cebellos to Amsterdam on season-long. This agreement has seen Spurs secure first refusal on the enterprising young forward Viktor Fisher. It's the feeling of both clubs and Fisher that a move to the Lane could be possible in 2014.

Also off to Spurs this summer is Manuel Iturre.

{Ed002's Note - All of this is BS of course.}

Thank you Ed002 lol

Spurs fan here, this piece of news has been doing the rounds for that amount of time! And where the rumours regarding eriksen and alderweireld but not fischer and certainly not carroll!

After Andy Carroll's performance v Man U for West Ham surely proves the point of a plan B at Liverpool. If Carroll can do this week in and week out then surely Brendan needs him as back up at least, but for sure plan B and why not plan A as well?

Aside from the fact that there is no way on Gods green earth that he wouldn't have been sent off had he been playing for Liverpool? And that all West Ham do is lump balls into the box for him?

Forget about plan A, B or C ; do you really want a player that only performs in the last month of the season.
WH played to his strength all throughout but done little for them except for the last couple of games

What's happening guys and gal's my question is will Liverpool try to sell Andy Carroll on for say 12 or loan him out one last time try to raise his price a bit more to recoupe the money waisted on him thanks ed's {Ed002's Note - Please read the posts or use the search function.}

I no you recently said they will try offload him at all costs but with the quotes of 7 million coming out in was wondering if another loan may be looked at {Ed002's Note - It is far too early for such considerations.}

Listen Chaps - you all need to forget Andy C
I’ve posted similar before and this is FACT
He doesn't feature in Plan A, so he, d always start on the bench, BR has confirmed his wages are too high for a Plan B bench warmer and AC is adamant whoever he plays for he is in the first 11
All in all BR has moved on and he is not coming back.

RIP AW

Agreed. Gazman

I didn't realise there was a wage structure for the bench!

So if you are on or above a certain amount you cannot be on the bench?

We will continue to have a weak side if that was the case.

Yes we have got a weak side

Good morning All,

I see the 'No plan B' issue has arisen again. Something I've never understood is when a team is chasing a victory and 90mins appears on the clock, said team decides that the best way to get a goal is to start lumping the ball up field. My issue with this is, that if you believe that to be the best way to score a goal why not employ those tactics from the start? It is clear that BR sees the best way for sustained EPL success is possession football. To get success he has to build a squad that he feels is best able to deliver this brand of football. Unfortunately (IMO) he doesn't think that the way he wants his team to play will get the best out of AC's qualities, he feels his transfer money would be better spent on a more agile, ball playing striker.
What truly successful club have ever really had a plan B anyway. Change of tactics, Yes. All great teams must be able to change/adapt tactics during a game but not playing styles. I actually like Carroll and hoped he would have been given a chance this season. Carrolls worst enemies (on the field) are his team mates. When he played for us, too often players just took the easy way out and lumped it upfield any old how. That's not Carroll fault. I reckon you could count on one hand how many times we actually got to the byline and put in a good cross he could attack. But the fact of the matter is we are not setup to play that way. We are going down a different route that does not suit big AC. Obviously our squad still needs work but I think it has improved and hopefully will have a few more worthy additions come the summer.

I like what BR is trying to do, and hope he gets long enough in the job to really stamp his blueprint on us.

Tommy Walsh

Great post
if you have a philosophy as a Manager and a team that a certain way of playing will get results, you have to stick with that conviction and see it through.
If you think "Plan B late-in-the-game" launch it up is going to get goals, why not play like that for the full 90 minutes?
Fact is, there are not that many goals scored late in by teams going for the win, or draw, that results from a long hoof into the box.
These balls are too easy to defend and all the defending team are set into their postions
So AC as a "plan B" doesn't cut it and there is no reason to have him in the squad, sell him for £10m and get a versatile player in instead.

Job done

I think football is a bit more complicated than plan a and b.

The most successful club in England over the last twenty years haven't played in a passing style at times - far from it, they mix it up - I'd call it direct counter attacking.

The main thing is they compete and always give themselves a chance.

We have all seen Manchester United get battered away from home then some how win 1-0 - after all these years - its no coincidence.

I love the way Barca and Spain have played over the last few years and I think that Liverpool have played some great stuff this season but even Barca and Spain struggle to unlock defenses who park the bus and they have superb individuals.

I do feel we have to mix up our style according to who we play. Its ok at home to retain and wait for openings but I've seen us play away at times and we have been out of the game after the first hour because the passing wasn't ticking properly. Manchester United away is a great example. They simply pressed us so high for the first 20 we didn't stand a chance.

If we had Iniesta and Xavi in the middle I might be whistling a different tune but we really need to learn just to hang in' sometimes.

Aresnal away also demonstrates this perfectly. We couldn't shut up shop at 2-0 up.

Even when we have had a lead in games we look so vulnerable and tactically inept. I love Brendan's style now but our goals against column really needs addressing.

If you look at the business end of the table year in year out - the top teams are always physically strong. Aresnal have been failing for years due to this fact. A champions league team yes - but when it comes to the crunch - they always look soft centered - Similar to us now. I think Andy could help us to counteract teams getting physical with us.

I think Brendan obviously knows we have to address the soft centre - What I'd give for a young Sami Hyppia?

So, going back to the original point on Andy Caroll - I believe he could play in our team - I'm just not sure about his pace - which could be the reason why Brendan doesn't fancy him. He certainly is a strong player who could give us more presence against the Stokes of this world?

Gazman

I kind of agree, but if you bring on someone late on in the game with a bit of pace then lumping the ball forward over the oppositions midfield or defence for your player to chase can be a good tactic. The tired defenders have no chance if you do it right. Possession football has to be played very accurately and quickly to have the same effect. Our players are not at that level. Yet. Especially late on in a game.
Having said all that, andy carrol neither has pace or the positioning knowledge to be of any use to us late on in the game. It would literally be him camped in the box and long balls being fired in. Opposition defenders can defend them all day long, we are not testing them in any way, not even taking advantage of tiredness because they won't have to do much moving.
I wanted it to work for andy but he has none of the attributes we need nor the attitude to succeed at Liverpool. He may go on to have a good career but not in a top team.
We don't need a plan B. We need to get plan A right first, then fill our bench with players we can bring on who will change a game using pace, skill and crisp, pacey passing and shooting to exploit tired defenders.

MIKEY

Great post and totally agree with Mikey. What's the point in working on a plan B when we can't get plan A right consistently for 90mins game in, game out.
Gazman is right. The philosophy is to take care of the ball and work hard and high up the pitch to regain possession. Within that you can play long passes, short passes etc as long as it is the right pass.

Exactly Simon. The right pass - long or short is the key. I watched Utd last night v west ham and I think that movement and energy is a massive part of there play - hence the big squad and quite a lot of rotation.

Sometimes we have looked tired in games this season.

Gazman

The other thing I read a lot is that we need consistency. Our players have said it, pundits and fans, but for me for consistency read quality. Thousands of golfers have had a round a few under par at some point but can they put 4 consecutive rounds together on consecutive days when the pressure is on and their livelihoods depend on it? Not many can. And it's usually the same guys doing it major after major. In the end how good you are and how hard you work bring you consistent results.

Morning : why so many haters giving big Andy a hard time to be honest I think he's what we are missing we need a lad that can rough up the opposition that's what were lacking and the effort he's putting in at the moment is more than most of our players I wouldn't be getting rid and if rodgers can get the best outta downing well why not ANDY fair play to him maybe the penny has dropped for him u get out of life what u put in keep up the good work JON96

He has been ridiculed all year, has a good run, and now everyone is saying he could be a saviour lol

He is a good player and I agree we need someone to rough up opposition but suarez does that with his movement much better than carrol. Plus I think its at the back or midfield we need a monster.

13reds

18 Apr 2013 12:36:23
Not our saviour but a decent option I hear he doesn't want to sit on the bench that's why he went on loan well fair play to rodgers because I think when he comes bk he has a point to prove GREAT MANAGMENT plus if he keeps up his good work so far we have a good player with lots of potential in our squad remember he is just in his early 20s

hey lfc fans

i know Liverpool have had rubbish owners in the past, and since getting 2nd have been a complete disaster.

but. when you look at the players we have. and compare them man for man with some of teams above us. you think. 31 points behind man united. for Liverpool football club. is an absolute disgrace

is there anyone out there who is going to light that burning hunger and winning mentality into this club ever again?

18 Apr 2013 08:49:50
To waro's post yesterday about no one defending Carroll last season there were plenty people defending him in his first 12 months. But as always their were people like you saying that Carroll, Henderson, downing were the worst signings the club have ever made and none are fit to ware the shirt. 18months after downing is playing some good stuff and Henderson has been talked about as a future captain. Even Suarez took 18 months to bed in properly, and now that he has he is leading the charts on goals scored.

The only reason ye bring up the Carroll situation is to have a pop at Rodgers.
With he has no plan b.
Carroll 6'3". Sturridge 6'2". Suarez 5'11".

Carlos puyol 5'10".

I agree with KUMBER.

The real AG

Suarez took eighteen months? Behave! Carrol did take unnecessary stick by many on here. none of which was deserved. He's a good player and should be given another chance.

DaveyBootle

Andy Carroll had 3 or 4 good games in 18 months, the rest of it was poor. He deserved every bit of stick he got.

Suarez did take 18 months to add goals to his game.
He was an excellent player from the word go at Liverpool, 18 months later he's world class.

MIKEY

Brisbane, Andy Carroll's '3 or 4 good games' all came at the tail end of the season then, when he was fully fit and looking decent. He took that form on to England as well. Strikers thrive on confidence. John Terry took a beating from the big man, and last night against Vidic & Ferdinand we saw what he's capable of

'Capable of' isn't good enough. We need 'consistently will' on a regular basis

Suarez did take 18 months to add goals to his game.

=========================

He scored in his very first game.
yes he is having his best season this year, but he just moved from awesome to super hero.
Roy

I think if they are talking about 7 million for him like media are saying we should keep him and give him a fair shake, if rodgers is as good a coach as we and him think he is well then mould the lad into a more complete player but I think on form and fully fit carroll is a great option to have and all the the top clubs have options in every position.

Yes thanks Roy, but you get my point.
He became a regular scorer later on.
We all thought he settled in instantly but we didn't expect him to get so much better.

i really hope carroll doesn't come back, he is just a big thug, he shouldve been sent off tonight and he would disgrace our club doing those things, they have become the new stoke, don't get me wrong I hate united but what I hate most is teams that just try and bully other teams of the pitch and don't get any punishment for it

It's a mans game.
