Personally, i'd like to see Carragher start tomorrow and have the introduction of Coates on wednesday against Brighton.

It'd be pretty unfair to leave him out for giving a penalty away as soft as that. Also, his vocal and organisational assets can be invaluable.

Thanks

Stu.

I feel a bit sorry for Arsenal. Don't know why.
But I'm glad we steered clear of that Mertesaacker. He makes Carra look like Usain Bolt.
Why don't Arsenal employ consultants to sign central defenders, cos Wenger can't do it.
The Real KB

Yep, then again if the consultants are anything like their medical team....... ;)

D 2308

Not sure it would be recipricated.

Plus Wenger is an egotistical, ignorant , arrogant a*** who shafted all his supposed football "values" on transfer deadline day.

Dirks Engine Room

I know what you mean mate, I don't mind Arsenal at all (A few good mates of mine support arsenal) and given as we were in the same position last season part of me feels a wee bit sorry for them. But there's also a bit of satisfaction watching arsenal playing their "sexy football" this season as well...

Watching MOTD...and that'll be why we didn't sign Shane Long....

At least it would give the Henderson and Carroll haters someone else to moan about.

Hi eds/guys /gals best goal I ever saw was albert stubbins flying header in the snow against against birmingham city in the 6th round of the f/a cup, made special by the fact albert did not like heading the ball and the foot of snow on the pitch, would love to have a photo of that one it was displayed in the liverpool echo I think the year was 1949.

Awesome post.
The Real KB

Such a legend he appeared on the Sgt Pepper album cover. Were any of the band Reds fans?
The Real KB

Albert Stubbins is the only footballer to make it onto the front cover of the Beatles "Sgt. Pepper's" album as the Beatles were big fans of him too.

Hi! My Dad is in his 80s now and has always talked that Albert Stubbins goal.
Told him about your post, he was made up, that other Reds still remember and talk about it. Great Post :-)

Horses for courses tomorrow I think. The biggest change I think will be Henderson moved to the bench, not because people think he is performing poorly but because I think we need the right sided midfielder to track back and offer protection to Skrtel so I think Kuyt will get nod to start. Carra and Agger centrebacks, Enrique and Downing on left, Lucas n Adam central and Carroll and Suarez up top.

Looks like it will be a close game - and may be a defining one. Still confident that we will win out in end and reinforce our target of 4th place.

On a different subject whilst their decline is to our benefit a small measure of sympathy to any true Arsneal fans - we know how you feel cos its what we went thru 12 months ago. It took us booting out our owners, getting decent but ambitious owners in, breaking a habit of a lifetime to actively force a managerial change, the appointing of a legend, getting rid of our "star" player and signing an absolute gem, a total clearout of all dead wood and decent investment in team to turn us around.

God alone knows what it will take to fix Arsneal but seeing as you have almost scored as many OG's this season as Carra has in his entire career I know where I would start ;)

D 2308

Good post bro, when u talk about what we did in the last 12 months its amazing, we really are on the way back to the top, cant wait to beat spurs tommorow, very confident we will , and while i feel bad for arsenal i could care less about wenger, he is a snivelling crybaby ......kingkennykop7

Have you noticed how the mancs do really well against most ( not all ) pl sides but fold against any quality euro opposition ?
Barca , Benfica , it dont matter who they always fold like a girly pack of cards..
All that talk and all they can do is beat the wigans and boltons
They are also massively in debt and the biggest insecurity ghat they have is a really poor ' proper' fan base!
When you actually talk to a Manchester who can put a sentence together they always privately wish that they had support like LFC has.
Poor team from a sporting point of view when things don't go their way .
Above all they've won 19 , yes . But in the game they aren't respected . This hurts them deeply.
So what have you actually got with the mancs. A team that wins domestically , has a fan base everywhere where people want to be associated with success but not in their own city
And a team riddled with debt .
You can truly feel that the bubble is about to burst.
pride comes before a fall boys... Get ready for a long drop
Nobody's gonna miss you when your gone!

Manchester United fans are amongst the worst in the land. They believe in their own bullsh1t due the recent success they've had. I personally think that they know that we'll be hot on their heels this season, and this is where the likes of "gout nose x" get their motivation.

Don't get me wrong, Banter between fans the most successful club in English football (us) and the second most successful club (them) can only be make for better banter. I mean, I'll go and have a pop on their page from time to time, as do plenty of others, so it's not a surprise to see the odd t1t job over here from time to time. The 19 titles they have is something they're obviously going to throw at us. Enjoy.

We could realistically snatch the title this year, no doubt. Never mind next year. We have 5 European cups. a feat only Real Madrid and AC Milan can boast to have more of. United getting slaughtered by Barca twice in recent finals was funny. I only watched those games in anticipation of seeing Spam Utd being humiliated, and Baca didn't disappoint. Loved it.

Utd have had a good start to the season, but there's still a very long way to go. Gout nose X will be leaving a little slug trail back to his cabbage leaf come May. Come this time tomorrow, we'll have 3 in the bag, and with a bit of luck, They'll drop 2 or 3.

Gout nose X, you are a prise winning ell bend crease my friend. A real Japs eye. Well done.

Scott78.

Great shout scott78, You summed up Gout nose x and his pathetic failed ways spot on.
Im off out now mate for a few drinks something the real slur alex does all the time but what Gout nose x will have to wait a while longer for as he's just a little wannabe wind up boy. On another note to my fellow red fans who are the best in the world try and take it easy on Gout slur alex cause its to much like bullying a little kid!

Just read on the Setanta website Harry Redknapp was in for Suarez and Carroll before they signed for us. I'm really beginning to think Harry's bugged Dalglish's and Commolli's phones so he can take notes...

Sir Alex is actually an Everton fan, he used to sign his posts as Alex, but when Bob the Red started signing as Sir Bob, Alex started using Sir Alex .. he is got a thing for Bob, really he has and it was so obvious when they used to banter on the main banter pages.

guys Rafa didnt do that bad until we are no 7 in his last year of charge. But he is better then Roy Hodson. He do accept that he make few error and want to fix it up but woner dont back him that time. Torres Gerrard injury and we are missing fire upfront. The club done well now Hope to be no 4 or we will say Rafa is the best ?

Whatever the result on Sunday remember what The King has said. Stick together and we'll be formidable. Take into account how our club has been treated in the media for identical scenarios as other clubs find themselves. (see Arsenal's current plight, Manc debt situ). A firm belief of mine, coincides with the dawn of Sky's premier league coverage. Pro Murdoch, Pro media, Pro Manc , Sky coverage promotes subliminal mass belief. Premier league + Sky + money speaks louder than Anti-thatcher, anti-sun, anti-london Liverpool. Stay strong, stay together. We'll be formidable!

I think against spurs we need to make the game narrow when they have the ball. Keep it central and push van der vaart/modric back. Equally when we have the ball we should play hour glass football. Pinch it in to Adam, push it wide to Downing and let Caroll damage some centre backs. They don't have Dawson who is by far their most robust centre back (still poor but likes a physical battle). This will open the space between their centre back and Parker. Opening space for Messrs Suarez and (perhaps) Gerrard! Say hello to the Red machine!

"Hour glass football", "pinch it to Adam", "let Carroll damage some centre backs".

This is funny stuff...keep it coming

hi eds please post in rumours . do u think kk is regretting paying 35 ml for andy carroll we cud have maybe got aguerro for the same price and while kun seems to have settled in straight away carroll has done nothing really . when i look at carroll hes got no pace first touch is not the best so we paid 35ml for someone who is tall which i think is at least 20 ml too much and i honestly cant see us recouping anywhere near that if we sold him so my question is if his performances dont improve over the rest of the season do u think he might be sold on i know its still early but id like ur opinion thanx {Ed002's Note - If you search on Aguero you will find an explanation as to the true cost of the player - it was not the transfer fee that put people off, but the salary package.}

But then again he is turning over results. no point in getting someone for 35m and he's not winning us games instead warming the bench. but i really want him to work out, only because i don't want that money to be a waste.

What do you care about the money?

17 Sep 2011 17:54:28
For me Rafa didnt do well to drop Reiara. and Kenny done same after droping Maxi.

============================
Rafa had a very good reason to drop Reira, he had an attitude problem and him slapping a youth player did not go well with Rafa and rightly so.
As for Maxi, you need to remember Maxi played a lot of games last season and his best were only the last few 5 or 6 when his contract renewal discussions were taking place. He is a decent player and a good substitute to bring in when need be.
Roy

He slapped a youth player?who did he he slap?...red indian

Liverpool was sufer injury and suspenson he didnt Bring back Reira that time. U need to use the player right way even few jack ass there. yes Maxi have last 5/6 good game and then drop? after havinh good game u must pick him not droping.

I think it was Dani Pacheco...

maka

If I remember rightly it was Pacheco! Don't think Riera played for us after that!

Runcorn Red!

Pachecho I think, mate

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Rieira was lightweight and totally self indulgent and around the time he got dropped, came out in the press and called the club a sinking ship, a statement he then tried to retract. The only thing I'm pi$$Ed with Benitez about is opting for Riera instead of James Milner who was available at the time for the same money.

Hehee Alex, That quite on the Everton pages ?Even after a win.
As for our European ventures, well after 15 years of being in Europe year in year out is good to have a break and concentrate on the league where we have a chance to be top 4 if not 3, we done well, according to you a year or so ago our club was going down under and was close to extinction , I think now we all know which club in Liverpool will be liquidated, your chairman cannot get fraction of Torres price for the whole of your club... Good luck , I 'll make sure I am around for the farewell to Everton Party.

I promise you Torres will not "torment Vidic tomoz". Check some basic facts about player availability before you make a prat of yourself!
Are we the top team in Manchester?....well if you assess your assertion that you believe City is, here's just a couple of facts for you to chew over.
I believe United are the current PL Champ19ns, and we are currently top of the league, so you can work out who the best team in Manchester is. Hopefully that's not too difficult for you to grasp!

Fellow redmen dont fall for this slur alex kid who puts an x after his name cause he loves himself, He's just a wanna be wind up merchant who wouldn't have the bottle to come back on here after we give them another stuffing! ps boy there's great dvds of us beating this small club 1 - 4 in their own back yard and the look at the real slur alex face at the end make it a best seller!

So you believe United are a "small club". Oh deary deary me, with all due respect, if that's all you've got to appeal to your fellow supporters, that is indeed sadly inadequate.

If I were your teacher you would get an E for effort..must do better!

Sir Alex why do you always sign your posts off with an x? This is a predominantly male site, were not like Gary Neville we don't like being kissed by men. Save your x's for the United page where that kind of behaviour is acceptable.

Hi eds forgot to mention spurs signings cost 4/5 million ours over 100 million.

17 Sep 2011 15:59:19
Hi forget about arsenal , spurs are the ones to watch they made great signings in adebayor/parker/friedel/all who are not prospects but proven premier league players who WILL hit the ground running.

Friedel WAS a great keeper, now he's decent with as many daft moments as great ones. Parker is a good signing, and Ade might be. A lot depends on how the team is playing as a whole. We're a stronger squad than Spuds, and a better first 11. I reckon we'll beat them, unless they get the usual refereeing help.
Milamber

Hi agree about friedel but a big improvement over gomez for nada.

Ed what are your thoughts on hoillet (spelling) of blackburn as a squad player and winger.he has very good pace and under kenny he can get better.
He will not be that expensive and last season n this actually looks half decent.
Good enough for liverpool squad for you?

Red indian {Ed001's Note - possibly, he has been very hit and miss when I have seen him. He certainly has the potential to be good enough.}

Hoilet is already at a team not playing in europe, why go to another?

Sir Alex x

Sir alex... you ask why would he want to go to a team that has no European football. The answer is simple. Next year we will be in the champion league, all the way to final. Remind me how many times you've won it again?

Arsenal - 4pts after 5 games -8 goal difference. That's worse than our start last year. If Arsenal finish 6th and we finish comfortably 3rd or higher, we should bid for Walcott. He has pace, is still only 22, would stretch games and give Suarez & Gearrrd space to attack. Arsenal have a replacement in Ox Chamberlain and Theo and his Dad are Liverpool supporters which helps a little I suppose.

Id take wilshere all day long before walcott twice the player theo is

Thing is wilshere is only 19 and has lived in and around london all his life,so it would be a big change and if arsenal are not even in europe, which, looking at there preformance,I think is likely we could bid for someone like chamakh for a sub striker

Chamach is a dog of a player. Rather have Ngog back.

I think a bid for Walcott is worth a punt, always said he's a LFC fan and is probs getting sick of Arsenal.

I doubt Wilshere would want to sign as he has lived in London all his life etc. and also Arsenal wouldn't want to sell, who in my eyes is their best player.

Personaly I would like to have a change and use maxi on the RW even for 30 min.He is a natural winger and a good scorrer

You are right but they have to play henderson to justify their spending and hope he comes good.

I've also wondered about Maxi. Played well at the end of last season, scored two hatricks. So why is he not being picked to played?

My take on this is: Maxi has said he would like to leave and wants to return to Argentina, I think he is home sick. I think Dalglish does not see a future for him at the club unlike Henderson, Downing and others.

The dilemma for Dalglish is, with all the new changes in the squad - what's the best team - which players are playing best in which position and with who? For this he needs to make some experimentation. And the players that are new need as much playing time together a possible to gel. As some other poster said, where the hell are we going to play Gerrard in this team - he can play number of positions? But which is best for Liverpool?

I remember at the end of last season, Dalglish said, 'if we can take fifth position we will take it' and I was thinking you must be crazy - playing all those games in Europe when you should be concentrating on the PL. But now I can see that playing more games would be a good thing for Liverpool. We could really test out lots of different playing formations in a competitive situation and we have also all the young guys coming through to think of as well - Were not Man-City!

So I think we won't see too much of Maxi. Having said that maybe Dalglish will play him for 90 mins tomorrow and prove me all wrong... Won't be the first time.

This is a huge season for Liverpool ! In fact I can't remember one being this important for the club. I certainly haven't felt this excited in years about our prospects. However having supported Liverpool for this long, 28 of my 36 years, I am also realistic and nervous about certain aspects. Getting rid of those ridiculous yanks last year was like a re-birth and a chance to start a fresh. JH seems to be everything he says he is. Strike 1. King Kenny swooping down astride the liver bird bringing some much needed pride and fighting spirit back to the players and fans. Strike 2. Bringing in some quality british based signings who really understand the bootroom ethos. Strike 3. However I do have a couple of concerns. Selling Torres was definately, in Carra's word, "a great bit of business". A player who didn't want to play for us and couldn't score in a strip joint for 50M happy days ! BUT if this is a sign of things to come, ie we a get a couple of world class players and just sell them on for a hefty profit when we don't qualify for the champions league, then we become like most of the other clubs. A selling club that can only aspire to tread water. If football carries on the way it's going then only a league of Man Shxtty's will do. The highest bidder wins! I hope the latest Suarez rumours are rubbish and even if there is a hint of truth to them that we will do all in our power to keep him and our best players from leaving. Let's not kid ourselves here people the foreign mercenaries are here for one thing only....MONEY ! Just like the expression goes money talks...Torres walks ! I genuinely believe that we have got the best chance in seasons to finish in the top four but is that really all we want our owners to aspire to... WE WANT THE LEAGUE ! Unfortunately for that we are going to need a bit of patience which I don't think alot of these fairweather money grabbing players have got. Gordon Taylor put it very well in an interview on the radio the other day... he said that the players have got 8 years on average to make as much money as they can ! Is that really the way to look at it ? Anyway I am done with doom and gloom about players and the like. We are going to stuff spurs this weekend and forget about last weekend's hangover....Remeber this players you stick by us we will always stick with you...YNWA

Why is everyone so obssesed with Adam Johnson! Good player but not bloody Messi

Type of player we have been missing for years. Thats why.

No chance City would sell to us, Arsenal on the other hand will sell when they finish 7th, we should buy Walcott

The lad is average at best - however, if he signed for us - being a Red he would obviously be amazing.

John B

He is an impact player. can score n create goals outa no where. Wud be a gr8 addition, plus he is british.

Saw a post the other day in which ed009 replied about Suarez setting up play as well as scoring, and about another 'finisher/poacher' perhaps being needed. I totally agree, Suarez and Downing create so many opportunities from wide, which at the moment are going unconverted. Carroll is a good strong centre forward and can score a good few goals when he gets going but he is not a natural finisher.
For me Liverpool missed a trick with Shane Long, not an amazing player but a fantastic natural finisher, would convert so many of the chances Suarez and Downing create, but obviously he is at West Brom now, Doyle is similar also. For me, the best of that class has to be Defoe, and if you listen rumours he is for sale, although probably not to us, but I believe he would be a fantastic addition if possible.
Any thoughts ed?

Anfield Andy {Ed001's Note - Long is in no way a natural finisher, he is a workhorse, someone who runs himself into the ground for the team. But in terms of natural ability, he is simply not all that good, certainly not good enough for regular first team football with us. I doubt he would be happy to be a back up.}

Hello every1, bit of a random one here that I thought I'd share with you. I had a dream last night that Jamie Carragher was sold to stoke in the transfer window and i was reading it in the paper the next day, can't remember the fee. Then i woke up thinking "that was a bit weird" but the more I think about it, the more realistic it seems. I reckon if Carra where to be sold or released that's one of the more likely destinations if not thee. What do you reckon people?
Hmmmmm am I receiving visions from the future (I am of course messing about)
Just thought I'd share that random bit info with you and I'm thinking about having a punt now. I'll probably get shot down by a load of keyboard warriors but please remember this is a banter page and that's all this post was meant to create.
Cheers

Hmmm I had a dream last night and there was a guy who looked a bit like Rory Delap and a bit like my uncle and then he turn into an orange rhinocerous and we were in Sweden

Good Day Eds- Having tried to translate tis post and then tried to work out what the other posters are trying to say. my thoughts are about the poster's mindset(s). Who cares if they think you may or may not be biased. Does it really matter in the long run.? Is this site a Rumour Site or a "Do NOt Rock The Boat Site " ? Rant over. Eds, I love coming onto this site, but some of the posts are hard to believe. Thanks for all your great works, and just keep on keeping up the great work. Red Hawk (from Melbourne.Australia)

Considering Suarez scored 49 goals for Ajax in a season. Albeit, a lot weaker of a league. He still had to apply the finishing touch. He was either s**t hot that season or missed a couple of hundred sitters or more to get that many. 20 league goals for us, no problem for Suarez, watch, especially with Gerrard coming back. Cant wait to see a fully fit Gerrard and Suarez linking up. Were gonna score some super slick goals this season. Carroll to start and bag against Spurs defo. Jonson6

Carroll not going to start its what harry wants

I would play Carroll & Suarez and let their partnership develop.

Fensh

Its carrolls best chance tomorro, dawson ruled out, he normally doesn't give carroll a sniff

Bench Suarez he is not effective we need Carroll up front alone, we need to stop all this passing to nowhere and play long balls into Andy that will unsettle spurs!

Tactics Tim

Tactics Tim you have not got a notion my friend

Bench Suarez? Wind yer neck in mate, I suppose we might as well put Reina up front just playing off Carroll and Adam can cover GK position and Modric can be our captain for the day. Seriously, get a grip mate.

Love the site. Just wanted to say how if u actually stand back and look at the changes that have happened within LFC in the last 12 months they are breath taking. I mean this time last year we were being drag through the sh*t on and off the pitch. First of all JW Henry and FSG thank you. You seem to be acting always in the clubs best interests something we havent been used to of late. Kenny amazing Clarke outstanding. Camolli wasnt sure but role seems to be working. The doom and gloom is gone i mean to think december last year we were fighting relegation and in 10 months all these people indeed all staff of LFC take a bow. Who cares who we sign next lets enjoy havin our club back. Hit beleive to say thanx to the staff of LFC for giving us back our club...... Please Edd post on rumour page and let people say thanx. ...TIPPERARY RED.

Very well put. Agree wholeheartedly

I was wondering what other fans and eds thought of Torres scoring past man u. I personally would love it, he always enjoyed scoring past them and it would bring back a lot of memories. As long as he only scores against Manu then doesn't score for ages, I would be thrilled.
This is is the only time I can watch Torres play and want him to score.

LFC 2929 {Ed009's Note - Personally I would like the two teams to be part of a goalless draw. If Chelsea win it draws them further away from us, and the same with United. He can feel free to score their equaliser though, and if its him or Rooney; definitely Fernando.}
