Gerrard to become MK Dons manager! What the hell! How does MK scouser feel?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

17 Nov 2016 18:52:39
I'm having a very hard time imagining Gerrard as a manager. He was never one for inspiring with words and the force of his personality, he always inspired through what he did on the pitch. That's obviously not an option from the sideline. I just think he'll be too quiet.

That being said, if his knowledge of the game good enough, and he gets a good assistant to do the shouting for him, maybe he can do it. I'd certainly like to see him succeed.

17 Nov 2016 19:15:45
you does everyone reckon his assistant will be if it happens? I reckon gary mac.

17 Nov 2016 19:41:42
People say it was Gerrard who fired up the boys from 3-0 down not Rafa I don't get the hate for a man who has giving some much to Liverpool . He could easily left us in the dark days.

17 Nov 2016 19:57:02
Something Red, where did you get the information he didn't do a lot off the pitch from?
Similar to John Terry at Chelsea, I have heard that if anything Gerrard had too much influence off the pitch and could apply pressure for players to be moved on.
He has also already coached some of the youths at the club.
I doubt he yet has the qualifications required to manage, but if he is genuinely in line then good on him not just using his contacts for a role at Liverpool. Will do him the world of good to experience the lower leagues, can see many Liverpool lads getting experience in the lower leagues on loan if it does happen.

17 Nov 2016 20:32:03
Stevie g good luck to u mate if half the passion u showed on the pitch in a liverpool shirt comes out in your coaching I have no doubt you'll be successful.

17 Nov 2016 20:52:52
Would have preferred him to choose a different club to be honest. MK Dons are not very well liked.
Good luck to him whatever job he gets.

17 Nov 2016 21:08:56
No hate, only admiration and gratitude. That doesn't mean I have to abandon a rational assessment of how he would benefit Liverpool by returning now. The head says it would be bad for both parties. If he is to have success in management he has to find is extremely elsewhere 'cos he's starting at zero as a manager.

17 Nov 2016 21:47:40
Thank goodness!
Now we can all move on.

17 Nov 2016 21:56:20
Not really an MK Dons fan but I don't think It's a good move for either party.

17 Nov 2016 22:14:23
Good luck to to you Stevie.
Your a legend to all true reds.
F#@k the begrudgers.
Don't be afraid to fail as that is how you learn
You are one that will never walk alone.

17 Nov 2016 22:37:26
I do not dislike gerrard at all really, i dislike the ridiculous esteem and rose tinted glasses people have for him. He was never the same when he reached 30 and should have been let go, but was instead kept around, whether that was his bidding or the fans or just how crap we were at the time, i don't know.

17 Nov 2016 23:47:00
If he's half as good at management as he was a player hel be one of the best around .

17 Nov 2016 23:22:33
I wish he would try even become an assistant manager somewhere first before taking a job like that. experience is crucial in management. Ed001 do you know who gareth southgate might have as his number 2 if he becomes england manager which looks likely? Would be ideal for gerrard in my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - I believe that the FA would like him to have an experienced head to guide him. Not sure how it would be ideal for a novice like Gerrard either.}

18 Nov 2016 01:17:47
If there was an all time top prem team picked by prem. league experts, , managers and ex players stephen Gerrard would be one of the first names on the sheet.
And in my opinion he would be captain as well.

18 Nov 2016 13:46:20
I don't think anybody begrudges him or dislikes him on these pages. We're unanimous in praise for his long service to the club as a player. I'm just completely against his getting a free pass or open door to any management position at LFC, without his proving he's good enough for the job. Just as he did as a player. Simple.

18 Nov 2016 23:31:07
To be fair, does Arsene Wenger seem inspiring with words or force of personality?

19 Nov 2016 00:35:30
Like kenny did
Like Souness did
I think Roy Evans was a player who went coaching and worked his way up through the Liverpool ranks.

Its been done at Barcelona with Pep going straight to coaching the B team.

We have to stop thinking that Stevie is looking for any favours or free route into coaching and look at how the club could benefit if things worked well.
As it did with Kenny years ago.

If it didn't work out then make different arrangements.

17 Nov 2016 17:02:24
Hi guys, when they are released I'm going to get for the West Ham game next month, I haven't done it before so do you guys know roughly what my chances of getting some are? Also, my girlfriend has a Liverpool post code, will that help?
Cheers guys, and great site btw eds, I'm on here every day!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

17 Nov 2016 17:21:47
No chance on l post code.

17 Nov 2016 18:13:41
How does the L Postcode scheme work, I don't really know how it works?

18 Nov 2016 00:02:14
Liverpool postcode doesn't help me at all. I couldn't even get Sunderland tickets.

If you don't have previous games on your membership, and have money to spare, you're best off looking outside the club mate. But i paid about £90 to see us at West Ham a couple of seasons ago.

We lost 3-1. Hope you have more luck.

18 Nov 2016 09:48:02
You apply to be registered at your home address, obviously L postcode. Keep you eye on the ticket announcements and on the day try and get tickets. I've tried, been on the site at bang on 8.15 and sold out by 8.30.

18 Nov 2016 14:52:17
Okay thanks guys, I'll get up at 8:15 to try and get tickets, I'll let you guys know how it goes!

17 Nov 2016 13:09:44
Been watching a few of the u23 games this season and as well as the youngsters who we have high hopes for, I am really impressed with ilori. he is calm and composed on the ball, has great pace, one of the quickest cbs I've seen (broke ronaldos sprint record at sporting) and is good in the tackle. i think he has all the attributes to make a top defender. surely should be knocking on the door of the 1st team squad.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

17 Nov 2016 13:32:42
its just not going to happen for him at Liverpool, especially when you consider lucas plays at centre back when lovren is out, he needs to leave and rebuild his career elsewhere, tbh I don't know why we bought him in the first place.

17 Nov 2016 13:43:26
I don't get it with this kid. Some many positives reviews about him since before he joined that have continued despite him never featuring? Surely he is lacking something to progress at this level as he couldn't even get a game ahead of Richards Lescott or Clark at Villa. They are all poor poor cbs.

17 Nov 2016 13:56:49
I feel as though he lacks the desire to succeed.

17 Nov 2016 14:22:18
Going nowhere unfortunately. the lad had potential but that's gone.

17 Nov 2016 17:38:56
The Messiah 😇.

17 Nov 2016 18:23:09
He was never given a chance by the incompetent manager who signed him from the word go and that has damaged him, confidence wise. He came in highly rated 2 years of pointless loans and injuries have definitely staunted his development and there may be no way back for him at LFC. I hope he gets his career on track even if it`s not at LFC.

17 Nov 2016 20:04:48
Ive been watching them too and agree with BigSqueeze that there is much to like about Ilori. Fast, good on the ball, passing. However he does seem to get caught out of position a bit, gets sucked towards the ball and forgets about what behind him.

17 Nov 2016 21:00:28
I think he could genuinely be one of those players we let go and then regret it within couple of years. mark my words if he goes he will be at a big club and for a big fee within 2 years.

17 Nov 2016 22:22:59
I think he's going to come good and I hope its us that benefits.
All of a sudden it will all come together.
He's got all the attributes to be a top player. He probably now needs more physical football than the u23s, maybe Scottish prem. for a year and then a full preseason with klopp.

18 Nov 2016 08:31:42
He was never fit enough to show his potential and the club, rogers in particular needs to take some responsibility for that. Being farmed out across europe and the uk has not helped him either and it must surely have knocked his confidence given the clubs historical lack of support and plan for loaned players.

I too think he can be a very good defender but sadly not at lfc, for the sake of his career he needs to move somewhere where he feels he is wanted and start to show his potential again. With all due respect ron i expect more from you than those messiah jibes, he has been mis-treated by the club and ridiculed enough by the fans.

17 Nov 2016 11:18:51
hey ed001 do you know how ojo is progressing? i heard he has now joined full training, is it looking likely he might play while mane is gone?

thanks.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is still very early mate. He has only just returned to full training.}

17 Nov 2016 11:36:02
I hope he will, ojo seems to take on a level of maturity and responsibility in his game that i don't see in other young players, he seems confident in whatever he does, whether its a hollywood ball or making a sensible back pass.

17 Nov 2016 11:34:27
Do you think Gomez should feature alongside Matip. I have an odd feeling lovren will let one in agains saints. He is the real weak link in that back line.

{Ed001's Note - Gomez is not ready yet. He needs time to get back to his best, mentally.}

17 Nov 2016 11:57:23
I can see both playing with the u23s to get there fitness up.

{Ed001's Note - you must have bloody good eye sight....}

17 Nov 2016 14:20:54
I think we won't see much of Ojo this season. Which I'm gutted about, the lad can be something special and imo is the most exciting youngster around. He'll be up there I think but needs time. Also I agŕee ed1, though I'd love to see young Gomez out there it isn't going to happen just yet, I hope we can see more of Ojo and Gomez next season. Ed1/ 2 would you expect Ojo to go on loan next summer for one season or see him fighting for a place here? Probs to early to ask.

{Ed002's Note - It is far too early to say.}

17 Nov 2016 14:48:59
No just because they will need game time . It just make Sence to use the u23s to get match fitness .

17 Nov 2016 18:28:45
I personally, have not seen enuff of Gomez as he has only played one game in a back three for us vs Young Boys in the Europa League last season and he wasn`t that good, not that anyone else was in that game as that was BR`s calamitous end to his reign here. Even at LB, he definitely is not suited to play there even tho he gave his best. Therefore, don`t know where he gets all these plaudits from. I will say that he needs to play more and show more and only after that, should he be honestly, judged.

18 Nov 2016 00:45:10
Joe Gomez impressed most before his injury. It will do a world of good if he gets a loan move once he is fit to prove his potential.

18 Nov 2016 14:46:18
All I`m saying is that he has not shown he can play the CB position as he`s never played there for LFC so nobody knows how he will get on. Hence, he shouldn`t be judged as being a good CB where he`s never played there consistently, as he has only "impressed" at LB, which he is not. Some perspective seems to be missing in people`s judgement of him.

17 Nov 2016 09:57:01
Adam Lallana has been ruled out for Southampton game. The damage is not so serious and he should start training at some point next week.

Lallana was assessed by Liverpool's medical staff yesterday.
It is expected that his place will now be taken by Gini Wijnaldum. (Dominic King - Mail)

If this is true then it doesn't sound TOO bad, I was starting to think it might've been but yeah, let's hope the lad gets back within a fortnight or so.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

17 Nov 2016 11:09:33
If we can beat the saints without him I will be absolutely delighted.

17 Nov 2016 14:11:35
Me too mate and I'm sure we will.

17 Nov 2016 18:32:11
Saints will be a tough game and Lallana will be a loss. However, I trust Klopp and the staff to get a game plan in that will still give us a chance at success. And if we don`t win or in fact lose, NOTHING will settled, won or lost (bar three points) and we will still be in the mix so I hope everyone would just calm down if in the event, we don`t win.

17 Nov 2016 22:50:48
And now coutinho! 🙁.

17 Nov 2016 09:10:05
There is a brilliant write up in the UTD page by Ed02. I would strongly recommend people to go through. He has nailed it.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

17 Nov 2016 09:18:15
Yeah that is pretty spot on. Well put ed2.

17 Nov 2016 09:23:08
Ed01, I know you are busy, But would it be viable to have a weekend matches preview?
What to look for, what not to look for, etc etc.

{Ed001's Note - what sort of thing do you mean Harry? I am doing the usual match preview for us v Southampton now, but I should have time to spare today and tomorrow to do more. I am writing a game review and have some film reviews I want to do, but I could squeeze in something, as none of them are urgent.}

17 Nov 2016 09:39:37
Well In General Ed01. Not only Liverpool matches mate. An over all round up of all the fixtures in PL. A short and brief write ups.

{Ed001's Note - I will see what I can put together for you Harry.}

17 Nov 2016 09:46:29
Thanks mate. That would be awesome 😊.

{Ed001's Note - I would wait until you see it before assuming that! First attempts are often not that good.}

17 Nov 2016 10:16:50
Doesn't matter mate. Think it would a great step. A weekend match preview would give us a lot about games played in PL. What matches hold what for which teams. For example the bottom 3 teams, race for top 4, etc etc.

17 Nov 2016 10:45:15
Didnt realise you were a film reviewer ed001, what ones were you thinking of looking at?

{Ed001's Note - I am not really, we just have a movie talk site so I write one when I have seen a film if I get time.}

17 Nov 2016 11:02:23
Where could I read your film reviews Ed?

{Ed001's Note - on here when they are done: Talk Movies

17 Nov 2016 11:28:02
Ed002 mentioned that United, architecturally and visually, has a very 80's feel about it. Ironic that they're the ones hanging onto history from the 80's.

17 Nov 2016 13:45:32
Do you have 2 different logins Nick? Or is that just a coincidence? 2 people of the same name posting an almost identical message on 2 different pages? You a Liverpool or United fan lol?

17 Nov 2016 18:33:59
Don`t really care what the Mancs do nor about their game reviews, really. No offence, Ed01.

17 Nov 2016 21:40:32
Nah Back!, that was certainly me on the United page. I couldn't help myself.

17 Nov 2016 22:28:10
Best film I ever saw was
The usual suspects. Brilliant
What do you think Ed?

{Ed001's Note - honestly, I have never seen it. It came out at a time when I didn't have time to watch films and I have yet to get round to catching it.}

17 Nov 2016 08:51:14
Eds anything in the articles linking us with brandt and tah? Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine Stevie.}

17 Nov 2016 08:40:33
Is it me or are the fa being money grubbing so and so's for not moving the sunderland game on 2 jan. The fact that bt sport have power to move the city game on the 31st to a time that suits them financially and the club has no say.

I know klopp will find a way to rotate the players to manage two games in less than 48hrs but it begs the question why are the fa putting clubs in that position in the first place.

Its all about the money and it sickens me, is that what football is just about now.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

17 Nov 2016 09:01:57
That's exactly all it is about mate, money money money, winds me up as well. Far too much of the game revolves around money now.

17 Nov 2016 18:37:55
It`s all money and nothing else, as you clearly stated. LFC vs City is the game of all games that the whole of English football has been waiting for since both teams started jostling for top spot and due to the kind of football they play. Our games recently, especially last season, had the most fireworks in them with us thumping them at home or away so I understand why the FA is trying to make a killing. Still doesn`t explain BT and Sky are mugging both teams over the game for more dough.

17 Nov 2016 22:31:27
Its all for tv revinue.
Sky / BT call the shots now.
2 games in 48hrs is shocking.

17 Nov 2016 03:41:25
Ed002 Please tell me you didn't vote for Trump.

Really hate the international breaks. As an American they just suck. Seem pretty bad for the English as well. Glad to see the tail end of this one.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No I didn't vote for Trump.}

17 Nov 2016 08:03:07
Yeah the break seems to drag on, roll on weekend.

17 Nov 2016 18:38:50
I didn`t vote for that "person" neither.
