The Swansea chairman, Huw Jenkins, says a "player protection" clause was included in the compensation package that released Rodgers from his Liberty Stadium contract to join Liverpool.

"We have got some protection, which I think is the right thing," he said.

Liverpool paid £7m compensation to the Swans for Rodgers' services.

Swansea released a statement after Rodgers was presented as the new Liverpool manager to counter speculation that a trio of Swans - midfielder Joe Allen, defender Ashley Williams and full-back Neil Taylor - are transfer targets.

Jenkins has made it clear that Liverpool have agreed not to raid the Liberty Stadium for playing talent to follow Rodgers to Anfield.

The former manager has already taken coach Colin Pascoe, assistant performance analyst Chris Davies and performance consultant Glen Driscoll.

Doubts have also been raised over Gylfi Sigurdsson's proposed move to Swansea, despite the club agreeing a fee of £6.8m to buy the 22-year-old from German club Hoffenheim.

I know Italian mothers have a reputation, but you'd think that Mama Aquilani would of let little Alberto represent his country at Euro 2012....or does he not have a passport :)

Little Alberto is probably having a sulk somewhere because those nasty men in England won't give him lots and lots of pocket money and let him holiday in Italy {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been paying a contribution to his wages and will be paying all of them again in two weeks time.}

liverpool should have a feeder club in the spanish segunda division and send groups of promising english players like flanagan, robinson, sterling and coady for 3-6 month perdiods to improve their technique and add different dimensions to their game. english lower league clubs is where foreign kids should be sent but there's no point in sending scouse players to rochdale to play hoofball

Good idea but i bet its WAY more complicated than that

Not always, you can form a partnership of sorts with clubs willing to do it. I know of a couple of instances of this. Both are italian clubs that have a partnership of sorts with spanish clubs. Granada is one club that do this, but not taking so many players since they were promoted. Also i think it's.... Bari? maybe, have a similar setup with a spanish club, something like that.

Yeah I can just imagine the youngsters reactions to being pulled out of school and shipped off to a foreign country...
Lfcmatt {Ed016's Note - could be very damaging. could also be a huge eye opener}

Yeh, i couldn't think of anything better at 17-18 than being shipped of to San Sebastian or somewhere like that.

Liverpool are on the verge of making Gylfi Sigurdsson their first summer signing for £7.8m, which is £1m more than the fee Swansea had agreed with Hoffenheim. FSG and Rodgers are looking to continue with some of their ''Moneyball'' method's, bringing in young players who's value will rise while moving on ageing stars who's value is decreasing. Liverpool will spend on transfer fees this summer but if they can clear some of the names they want to shift such as Aquilani and Cole then the wage bill will probably be lower than it is currently while still mproving the squad. Kuyt and Aurelio have already moved on with Aquilani likely the next player to move on. Liverpool are hoping that Kuyt,Aurelio,Aquilani,Pacheco,Adam,Maxi,Spearing,Cole and Jones will have moved on before the start of next season. FSG have been looking at Gaston Ramirez for the past 8 months and Rodgers is also a big fan of the Uruguayan. Liverpool are believed to be in talks with Bologna over a move however they are a couple of million pounds away in their valuation. Ramirez is the only FSG target Rodgers has agreed fits the club. Rodgers told FSG when he took control he would not work under a director of football and he would like to pick his own players which i'm not sure Kenny was able to do. Brendan Rodgers wants to bring Celtic's Victor Wanyama and Gary Hooper to Anfield with Liverpool readying a joint £12m bid. Liverpool are close to sealing a deal for Sigurdsson and he could be closely followed by Montpellier left back Henri Bedimo in a £4.6m deal. Liverpool will finish up their summer spending with a right winger and today their have been quite a few reports that Theo Walcott wants out of Arsenal who are on the verge of signing Oliver Giroud and Alan Dzagoev. Walcott is very hit and miss but he has pace to burn,he is young and English which is exactly what Liverpool are looking for. At first glance this seems the most unlikely rumour but Walcott is a massive Liverpool fan who only has a year left on his contract at Arsenal and discussions haven't been going too well. Arsene Wenger has already signed Lukas Podolski and with Dzagoev closing in on a switch it may be difficult for Walcott to get into the first XI. I can see Wenger starting with a front 3 of Podolski-RVP-Ox next season and with the likes of Gervinho,Giroud,Ryo etc. in reserve its not inconceivable that Wenger would consider an offer for Walcott. Liverpool will probably be linked with dozens more names before the window ends but all of these players are real possibility's and IMO would massively improve our pace,creativity,unpredictability,our goal scoring record and most importantly our results. The players mentioned would provide much needed cover and depth Sigurdsson{CAM/CM}, Ramirez{RW/CAM/LW}, Bedimo{LB}, Hooper{ST}, Wanyama{CDM/CB}, Walcott{RW} . Ed who do you think we will sign? other than Sigurdsson who is nailed on

Excellent post mate...

I wish!!

The celtic pair would seem to be great additions.
Wanyama as Dm and Cb option

Hooper as st option. He is a poacher. If jelavic can do well y carnt Hooper.

F5.

Awesome post mate. Absolutely hit the nail on the head that would definitely improve our squad without spending over the odds.

One things for sure I would sooner have Walcott than Podolski? Who I think lacks pace for the Premier League.

Hi eds. Out of 10 what are the chances of signing these players

Sigurdson
Kalou
Solado
Diame
Sturridge
Tello
Elia
Kracic {Ed028's Note - we arent going to sign them all so already the chances are steamy at 1 p.s use the search function for each player youve named}

1 thing you can say about most of these players is they are all average. Liverpool are slow in the transfer markt as usual, trailing behind the top clubs, nothing has changed with these owners then. Who is gona bet that laudrup's swansea finish above us? If that happens doesnt that mean rodgers would face the sack? RedTurk

More sunlight and cheer from RedTurk.

Starting the misery early this season, RedTurk?

cozinoz

Doesn't that mean we should sack RedTurk?

Red7.

Can we sack RedTurk? Is that possible? Or can we at least transfer him off to United.

How I wish we could have wait a little while longer for the new manager appointment. We could have appoint Bert Van Marwijk instead of BR . This man is genius. 3 defenders formation against a side with 2 very fast wide man is a brilliant attacking formation. How I wish we could see that kind of attacking football at my beloved liverpool.

...What?

McSnuggles

Look I am full of positive expectation for BR

What are you telling me that a mgr with one years experience is not going to be enough against Fergie's 40 years, or the that BR tactical acument will not be able to counter the teams financed by the oil barrons endless budgets.

I am now depressed

Seriously? No one else is sensing the sarcasm here??

I grasp sarcasm plenty, it's his distinct lack of English and general sentence structure that I just cannot understand...

Well, Schürrle came on for Germany for 25 mins, and just thought I'd share my first impressions. Ed022 did say that he's one to watch at the Euros. Note: I'm not judging him, just a little first impression.

He replaces Podolski at around the 66th minute. A sweeping German move ensues.His first touch was a shot on goal which was saved by the keeper after being placed through by Schweinsteiger. When Denmark got possesion he raced back to help the full back(though I suspect all German wide players do that). From what I saw he has decent movement and technical skills. Again, have to emphasise, just a first impression as I heard we were scouting him. Cheers.

Keith YNWA

What an amazingly in-depth report on this player. that has really furthered my knowledge of him greatly. You should be our statistics man.

Just as people are saying it's wrong to judge a player on one 90min performance, i think it is necessary to point out that 25 is in fact a number much smaller than 90. So, by my amazing powers of deduction, would be an even less thorough examination of a player.

Not too hard to be better than Podolski? who is slowwww!

one thing i will say about these rumoured 3rd kit pics is that there were LOTS of rumours about the away kit and not one single mocked up kit or fake was ANYWHERE near accurate to what the away kit is,

most of the fakes were a completely different colour, only the mocked up homes kit were close so i wouldn't read to much into this purple thing,

warrior design the kits but there has to be an approval system for the club and if they were really stupid enough to allow that purple kit they would surely be off their heads and be expecting about 3 pre orders for it right?? because quite frankly i'd rather wear my own vomit !

Well there is a picture of Bellamy in new training kit an the patern on collar is same as the 1 on the 3rd kit

I've heard that the 3rd kit is green.

17 Jun 2012 22:06:49
Love the site, thanks Ed's and Macca. Just wondering if we sustained any interest in Juan Agudelo of USA? I understand he had a training period with us, any news?
Thanks
Keates Red

If you used the F*****g search function you would see there has been no mention of him since 23 Jan 2012 11:26:06

And now to see what ads will pop up after some searching on google :-). I'm off to avoid letting these muppets get to me, oh how i pity the Eds.

I'm pretty sure the reason he asked if we've maintained an interest is because there has been nothing since January. Take a valium lad.

I think Liverpool should sign that Ronaldo kid he looks a prospect

This will never stop being funny

Haha naw!

Careful not to get mixed up with Rolando who came on as a sub

17 Jun 2012 21:33:21
Considering Eriksen has not proved him self in the euros will he become cheaper?

17 Jun 2012 21:23:41
If de jong is as good as everyone says why hasn't he played a second for Holland when they have been crying out for goals. Not convinced at all.

Red molloy

Huntelaar didn't even get a start

Sure neither has other top players

Huntelaar started against Portugal.

Huntelaar may actually go down as the Netherlands highest goal scorer in his time in the national team, more than Van Persie, but has never, and will never be recognised as their number one striker. He also didn't get a run... Just sayin'

De Jong is still only 21, they have Robin Van Persie and Huntelaar to pick from when they only usually play with one striker. Also the managers an idiot.

Puolson comes on Denmark go out - what a Donkey

Its strange that Portugal finished behind Denmark in the qualifying group

No, I'm pretty sure Denmark went out.

17 Jun 2012 21:18:19
Adam, Downing and Henderson will have till January to prove themselves.

I've read this exact same post at least 100 times, word for word, since the season ended. Seriously.

McSnuggles

Well they won't will they, if there staying next season which most will because the club won't be willing to take a massive hit on a fee for this many players, they will have all season to prove themselves, we couldn't get rid of 3 players in january and expect to replace them in what is the most expensive window of the season, ridiculous post really that makes no sense !

Cheers Rodgers...

Hendo will be here for at least 3 years

If adam, henderson & downing keep their existing personal pass completion stats (on the ground), their high level ground covered stats, all add a few assists to each of their game while they grow to understand and embrace brendan rodgers's football philosophy then none of them will leave. end of.

So glad we are rid of raul mierelles what a waste of space.
Been watching him closely and he either gives the ball away or leaves too much space for holland, hes currently on the floor after being brushed passed/shot in the face by a sniper. How much did we rob Chelsea for?

Its not hard to see where we need to improve as a team and I know to some it seems like im'e stating the obvious but look at the stats for the players who played most games and the goals they scored last year Jono 1 Jose 0 Carra 0 Agger 1 Skrts 2 Lucas 0 Spearo 0 Adam 2 Henderson 2 Downing 0 Kuyt 2 CCarrol1 4 only Gerrard Max Bellars and Luis stood up to be counted the rest of the team need to chip in.

I know it's highly unlikely more like impossible but Gareth bale is said to be thinking his future as redknap has gone. is it true Tottenham turned down 50 million for him? if not what would the price be you think? would love to see him in a Liverpool shirt.... I know I'm dreaming but what you reckon eds? great site btw. {Ed002's Note - Not going to happen.}

How do you know this Ed002? (I can hear the conviction of your opinion via my crystal 'red tinted' ball)

With all respect, you're not part of the management at Liverpool or part of the FSG group.....are you?
{Ed002's Note - Why did you bother asking about it then - just trying to get an opportunity to start on an editor I guess.}

If you want to hear the hear the truth why ask for it and then deny/question it. Fool your just trying to wind the editors up who are getting sick of people like you.

The price is about right, but if he goes it would be to United or Madrid, probably with Walker.

Saw a post of teamof the tournament.. thought i'd have a go:

-----------------------Hart-------------------
Johnson-----Badstuber-------Agger-------Lahm
--------------Pirlo----------Alonso------------
Błaszczykowski------------------------Dzagoev
--------------Gomez-------Bendtner----------

Subs: Tyton, Gebre Selassie, Melburg, Xavi, Walcott, Pilar, Torres

Walcott and tyton purely because as subs both have made excellent impacts despite limited game time.

Just a humble opinion. Thought I'd post it here as Johnson is in the team, and i truly believe he's proving his 'cant defend' doubters wrong.

YNWA! (Adam)

A team wthout iniesta and with Bendtner ? but its all about opinions I guess.

Casillas

Ozil Gomez. Iniesta

Posting from a different IP address tonight (friend's computer) but my team of the tournament so far would be:

Neuer
Lahm-Hummels-Pepe-Coentrao
Dzagoev-Pirlo-Fabregas
Ronaldo-Gomez-Silva

Subs: Casillas, Jiranek, Badstuber, Alonso, Xavi, Ozil, Bendtner

Alonso has been ordinary and not been better than Gerrard?

to me siggurdsson is a cheeper version of muller.

Lil red

I think "less expensive" is a better term, don't want the lad to feel like a slag.

Siggurdsson is about the same age as Muller and has not performed at the highest levels with any note Muller has and is about as a sure thing as you can get

Anyone any idea why the official Liverpool website has changed from .tv to .com?

I believe they have switched to the services of another... something. Web-maintainers?

Drigan

If you paid attention to the site on a regular basis you'd know the answer to that !

From the site itself.

This weekend the LFC technology team will aim to complete our biggest website changes since the current website went live in December 2010.

Following the new registration systems and database changes at the end of May, this weekend we move to a new hosting platform and our web domain changes from liverpoolfc.tv to liverpoolfc.com.

The end result of these changes will be a quicker and more resilient website for fans.

It is also due to the fact that the club were slow off the mark and did not register the .com URL when it was first available. This has obviously changed, as can happen when addresses come up for renewal. As a past web designer I always found it stupid of the club not to have grabbed the .com and am glad this has been resolved.

hey eds.
correct me if im wrong on some of the prices but. podolski 10m to arsenal kagawa 13mill to utd marin 9m to chelsea and rumourd giroud to arsenal for 13m, why havent liverpool showed interest and tried to sign these players? quality players with not a huge price tag ? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool cannot sign every player. Just add them to the list that Liverpool has missed.}

Because there are 10,000 other players we could buy

Giroud 2nd division player, Podolski too slow for Premier, Marin lightweight and inconsistent; a gamble? Kagawa is the only decent buy out the 4.
So were not really missing out? are we?

Lol fans make me laugh saying sigurdsson is a Man Utd fan. I believe certain iconic players are everton fans and they still play there heart out for us.

Scouse Ben

Carragher signed for us because he never got the chance to play for everton. Im sure if you could go back 20 years and put everton and liverpool infront of him he'd choose everton.

Just like siggurdsson now, big man united fan and there is reports coming out now that united want him. If its a choice between us and united i think we will miss out.

If you supported united and you had the chance to play at old trafford or anfield, What would you do?

Well, Sigurdsson would be fighting for a spot on the bench at Manchester United, and at 22 years of age he will want to play first team football. Having a good previous relationship with Rodgers will also be a huge bonus for us, as Sigurdsson is not yet a complete player and still has lots to learn and will benefit of continuing to train with Rodgers.

He went to the Everton youth team but then came back to Lfc

If I supported united and had the chance to play at old trafford or anfield......I would hold my hand up and say I was wrong, apologise for my previous poor decision-making and sign for Liverpool

I would sign for the Manager who has faith in me? Rodgers 100%.

Germany has a player in Gomez who technically is average, his "all round" footballing ability is limited his work ethic is nothing special and yet he sticks the ball in the net with great aplomb and regularity, because of this he is an automatic starter and could well end up the leading goalscorer of the tournament and maybe the catalyst for Germany to become European Champions.
England have a player very much like Gomez called Darren Bent and yet nobody rates him because "he hasn't got enough to his game" apparently and cannot get picked for England even when fully fit.
Anyone spot the anomaly?

Yup bent goes on scoring spurts, Gomez scores all the time

Darren you need to get off this site and get back to training.

For all those who think other teams are gettign better players etc. If no key players leave we have a very good set of 16 players when all fit. So all this nonsense about not begin able to challenge for 4th is not true.

The challenge is to get the players to play as a team and to their full potential. A few more players to strengthen and we can be there or there abouts.

At last some common sense being written, we played some decent stuff last year and out played all the teams that finished above us without winning the games. we're just lacking good attacking mids that can score and a quality forward that scores cos we created plenty of chances last year but our mids didn't like gettin in the box to score.

Hey guys, I'm a United fan and wondered if you can shed some light on something for me. I.ve seen some pictures and rumours going around about your 3rd kit for this season. It's purple, orange and grey. All i wanted to know is - is it a joke?! I'm not sure if it's an internet prank that's doing the rounds but if not it's the most ghastly thing I've ever seen! Unfortunately, our home kit doesn't seem like our best effort either but purple/orange? Figured you guys would know best so that I'd ask!

Sorry to disappoint you mate but it's not. Our kit hasn't been announced yet but I'm sure if someone pitched that kit they would hopefully get fired..... out of a cannon.... into the sun -McMenemy {Ed016's Note - It's either fake or the goal keepers kit. At least I am really hoping so.}

Feeling a little bit poorly after last nights birthday celebrations,but I was wondering could you answer 2 things for me.

eds, if a player, currently residing in england were to be in the final 6 months of his contract, would that mean that we're forbidden from making any cotact with the player, or would we just have to pay a compensation fee to the club? {Ed002's Note - It means he could talk to teams outside of England but not to English teams. English teams can make an approach during the last month.}

I know this has been done to death but on a mere rating scale. (Hopefully have all ed's participate).

Siggurdsson
Krasic
Kalou
Ramirez
Johnson
Munain {Ed002's Note - The Eds are not getting involved in doing this - all have been discussed and the views of the Eds are well known.}

Macca and eds any clarification tonight if the other clubs talking to siggy are Man Utd and newcastle.

Scouse ben

United, Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal.

No confirmation has been provided confirming that Newcastle, Arsenal Chelsea & Man Utd are talking with Sigurdsson. Only source is caught offside which quotes Man utd. Say no more to the source!!

Do we know if anyone else is talking to him? - mind you it was on caughtbeinggullible,com, and twitter so it must be true.

John B

Liverpool, Swansea, United, Spurs, Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal are the Premier League teams that had bids accepted for Siggurdsson.

The only reason Swansea & Liverpool's bid was made public was because of the quotes by Siggurdsson himself, Brendan Rodgers and the Swansea chairman.

He has turned down Swansea. Spurs interest has cooled since Redknapp was sacked.

ML_DM

There are only two teams talking to gilfi, us and Swansea, that is it, don't believe the media BS {Ed002's Note - PSV, Zenit and, reportedly, Juventus have spoken with Hoffenheim.}

Hi Eds/Macca

Can ye provide a weekly update on the list of known players were interested in or at least positions. Have nt been on this for a while and the search function is therefore useless if I don't know what I'm looking for.

Who knows it might stop alot of questions and save ye time? {Ed002's Note - No.}

The Real KB"
Haha, it would certainly be an experience. Good excuse to go to Amsterdam I suppose. You still planning on going to a couple of European games then mate? I'd recommend it to anyone, other than Napoli, I won't be making that mistake again.
Let's hope Suarez would still be around to go back to his former club, we must keep Suarez, anyone who thinks anything other than him staying is a good idea, hasn't got Liverpool's best intentions at heart. We simply cannot sell our best player.

Gulfy Sigurdsson, would love to have him at the club but I hope he is not Charlie Adam part 2.

Bosco

Did Charlie Adam really played that badly last season? i mean he had a hand in a number of goals with six or seven assists and scored a few also. It was only until Lucas picked up his injury that his form dipped due to being played in a more defensive role. People just seem to find a scapegoat and stick to it. He contributed more than downing and Henderson put together and was injured for the last part of the season yet fans seem willing to give them another chance. Open your eyes people.

Ian the red

Well said ian the red

I thought Adam was awful, He takes all the corners usually and set pieces so e should have been on over 10 assists including from play! And he should have more goals because he was always too lazy or slow to track back. I prefer Henderson every day of the week, sure the lad moved for 16m to a massive lub, is thrown out of position and still has to deal with an amazing amount of pressure and criticism which he refused to back away from and took blame, he also works hard for the team and tracks back, unlike that other fat buffoon.

Adam was worse than Downing and Henderson and thats saying something

I dont doubt thst henderson hasn't got quality nameless poster i like the lad, and agree with you on the fact he was played out of position far too often. I think he will be good for us but whethdr you like it or not chsrlie adam contributed more than both of them and we played our best football with him in the side until lucas picked up the injury. Facts are facts mate

Ian the red

Do I detect you are not a fan of Mr Adam then - bet your a massive fan of Steven Gerrard though, a magnificent player on his day - but unfortunately in recent years there haven't been that many " days ", and if you've noticed when he hasn't played others have to take responsibility and done OK - like the last home game against Chelsea.

I only highlight the Stevie thing because I'm disappointed so many modern LFC fans have Gerrad tinted glasses and don't support the other men in red.

John B

I also think Adam was poor... Ian the red you mention about his assists, it looks good on paper, but is there a stat for how many times he lost the ball cheaply, how many times we were braking forward and he slowed it down by spinning around and passing back to Renia, I think he's out of his depth at Liverpool.

G BOX

12 assists, 2 goals. Not too bad if you ask me.
AnfieldUSA

Some ppl can't play for Liverpool Adam is one of those

G BOX he was also competitive in the tackle and won many headers also in midfield... I just think he ought to be given a second chance... His qualities outweigh his weaknesses in my opinion

so i got a few things im wondering about. first of all why does everyone like Theo now? he had one good game for england and everyone has him in their dream team. dont get me worng i have always supported theo due to his pace and i think he would be a good forward if he got into the right places to tap in for players such as suarez.

which club does khedira play for? just a question not saying we should get him.

kjaer is he destined for Roma? he and agger had let in the least amount of goals heading into the euros i believe (3) and he is 23. perhaps coates would be the better option

where is debuchey going? is he not supposed to leave whoever he is with? not saying we should get him just catching up on rumours.

and finnally besides siggurdson. is their any known interest in players Rodgers has in? i suspect not.

thanks. if someone answers this for me id be happy! JLFC

Khedira plays for real madrid

majestic69

Oh my god can you not use google? Khedira is at Real Madrid. And Theo hasn't just had one good game he was quality for Arsenal the second half of the season. Would be an amazing signing for us, and the best we can hope for.

First of all, great job you're doing but do you think all the rumours suggest that LFC are seriously looking to bolstee the squard rather than fill positions with high value players? Not quite sure how to feel about Sigurdsson.

Secondly, website related, any chance you can change your ads from Mature Dating UK? Every time I visit, I see a right old minger with a face like a tramp's elbow flashing her legs.  It's really putting me off the site as well as women in general. {Ed002's Note - The ads are based on your browsing history. Most people see ads for Liverpool memorabilia, tickets etc..}

Eds do you think sterling will get a chance to shine this year or be a bit part player for another year!
I think he should give him a chance in the european matches and let him grow from there could save us 15millions plus give the young lads on the fringes that believe to take that other step. (it's been to long since fowler macca carra stevie, came through) too long I think that will change a fine example is young welbeck gradually phased into the team and now an international on the big stage. I think Rodgers will let the youth flourish.

Dear Edds I don't feel that good about the future and Liverpool making top4 when you look at arsenal their gonna get giroud m'vila poldoski (spelling)
I just feel we are never gonna get top 4 again

Go support arsenal then

Every club is going to sign players you person just because arsenal have agreed to sign players now meens nothing ,why will liverpool struggle because arsenal are getting players now,there are 2 months left in the transfer window to sign players tool.Lee

Giroud won't cut it imo, Podolski was a flop at Bayern, could happen again! And M'vila is a good player but what are they gonna do with Song? I don't think they'll buy M'Vila honestly.

What do you think are the chances of signing these strikers

One player who I've always thought would do a job for us is Walcott, I'm sure he would split opinion and become another Lucas, Henderson etc in respect of you either love them or hate them. I think he is a confidence player and this is one of the characteristics that BR is known for as he invests in his players to make them achieve. Worth a punt if we could get him. I'm not sure if we could or would approach Arsenal, maybe the Ed's will have a greater insight.

If England drop Carroll for looney I hope they lose, don't care what you all say, sure I will get slated for it, not interested
Curiousgeorge

If you get slated...it's because you deserve it. Anyone who would pick that donkey Carroll over Rooney is clearly delusional.

Dropping welbeck is much more sensible.

ppl complain that carroll tries too hard, too much work-rate (lol they'll complain about anything on carroll wont they?). but what i realised in englands first game, against france, young n welbeck were too far apart from their midfield, (which i believe roy had asked to stay deep). its kinda hard to connect isnt it? englands 2nd game, when carroll dropped abit, there was more connection between midfield n forwards, and england were more of a threat.

the only worry they should have of rooney n carroll together is that these 2 forwards backtrack alot, leaving forward empty (ie for france in the game england vs france, benzema went deep n no1 was meeting the crosses from debuchy) . well not sure how rooney is nowadays though, havent seen him in 1 full match for a long time.

Kaizer

Dropping Young would be better

what is your team of the euros so far ?
mine is
------------------- Tyton --------------
Gebresillasie - Hammels-- Agger-- Contrao
-- Bestain shwe, ---- alonso --- Cabaye
.------------- iniesta ------ Ozil -------
------------------- Gomez -------------

Manager - miccmak

Were's Jiranek mate? That guy has been fantastic so far.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Jacobsen, Xavi, Pirlo and Modric should be in there somehow but I'm not sure how

Chris in Tamworth

Not to sure of the manager but other than tha not to shabby

Pirlo for cabaye.

I feel Iniesta has been below his usual best and Ozil's played well, but not team of the tournament well IMO.

Mandzukic HAS to get a look in at striker alongside Gomez, doesn't he?!

Cabaye has scored a quality goal but I feel his position would be better tenured dropped in favor of Mandzukic up top, with Iniesta replaced by Krohn-Dehli or Jiranek I believe.

Jacobsen has actually been very very poor on the offensive end, I've seen one good cross out of maybe 50. He's defended decently, though.

McSnuggles

Tyton has looked decent, not bad for third choice keeper (Fabianski originally second choice)

EVO YNWA

Completely agree with you Chris on Pirlo, he really has been incredible. A shame he doesn't get the praise I believe he deserves, throughout his career.

Some people on here live in fantasy land. Can we get some things straight.

We will not be signing any super stars, So can we please stop with the talk of Munian, Llorente, Soldado etc. It will not happen.

We have to get used to the fact we cant attract those sort of players with the state we are in at the moment, 3 managers in quick succession, Havnt been in the league title race is years, Yet again no champions league. Hence the reason why we are being linked with medocre players and rejects.

Kalou, Caulker, Siggurdsson, De Jong, Bendtner, Moses, Diame... Fair enough not great players, But surely they are an improvement on Spearing, Downing, Carragher, Henderson, Shelvey, Carroll etc.

Though i think Kalou is off to Schalke and Diame has turned us down for West Ham where he'll be guaranteed football.

Bottom line is dont expect too much from next season, Its Rodgers 1st season in charge and wont be givin that much money to spend, Gerrard and Carragher are coming to an end of their careers so maybe youth will be givin a chance aswell, Stevie only started 18 games last season so dont expect miracles.

Chelsea, United and Arsenal have allready made improvements and im sure City will aswell. It will more than likely be between us Newcastle, Spurs and Everton for 5th.

Its gonna be hard. We could finish 8th again or we could get champions league, stranger things have happened.

Parker

Obviously things are bad if a player like diame turns us down for a move to west ham

What do you mean rejects? You call players like Krasic, Elia, Borini and Sigurdson rejects? Oh wait... Yeah, We are doomed. Greg

Massive rebuilding job at chelsea and o don't think that di matteo is the man.

Mighty reds

What do you expect? Small manager = small players coming in. You have to realise, We are not a ''big'' club anymore, plenty of history but not good enough anymore to compete for titles, top players, managers etc.

Id much rather have Di Matteo than Rodgers. RedDub

When are this generation of LFC fans going to realize, when we dominated everything in sight, we did so not buying all the overpaid primadonnas' being touted left right and centre, we brought in so called everyday players and made them into to superstars. Who ever heard of half of our legends before they put on the red shirt? Do not fear because we have not gotten the most expensive or reknowned, look beyond that and see that we need a team, that work hard and play for each other, the club and the fans. We need players willing to sweat blood for the cause, not someone who chose us because we could pay him 5k a week more. Real Madrid, Chelsea and Man City buy success, we earn it the hard way, the honest way, and in Brendon Rodgers, we now have a manager more in keeping with the way things used to be done. I for one am not really concerned with who we bring in, as long as BR can get them doing it on the pitch.

Red4Ever

I think Di Matteo will go the same way as Kenny. Now that his honeymoon period is over. I would much rather have Rodgers thanks.

Mighty reds

Diame moved for money and West Ham's owners are known for making outlandish promises of lucrative contracts that bankrupt their club

With everything going on a rangers and potential bargains up for grabs is there anyone any good from them, I don't have much interest in Scottish football any thoughts so I can check them out.

I don't think we should be acting as vultures, If they approached us then it would be different.

Stevie naismith would be worth a punt, was by far best player for rangers in first half of season (including jelavic) before his injury. get him for couple million if it doesnt work out its not a huge loss, my only concern is that hes had 2 big injuries in last 2 years

Haha, I would rather we used the term wise and not old KB. Too much pressure gets put on them IMO, especially now we can all watch them on LFCTV. I know how they must feel, I'm younger than Sterling myself mate. All I'm hoping is we keep Sterling, he will certainly be a big player for us, but we will have to wait a year or two yet. Look at the Manc's losing Pogba and Morrison, we can't let that happen with us, although Ravel seems to have his problems.

I think brendan will strengthen the wings and i think players like tello from barca and krasic who have alot of pace and can both score i also think that sigurdsson or gaston ramirez would be what we need in a more creative attacking midfielder role and also to start to filter some youth players like sterling,suso and coady through. What are ur views on who we should sign eds?

Tello is not leaving Barcelona. Guliierm Baligue confirmed this morning that they will offer him a new contract and he wants to stay at Barca.

If Glen Johnson is looking to leave or the club want him off the wage bill I would definitely try and buy Theodor Gebre Selassie he has been outstanding I thought for the Czechs at the Euros so far.

Also why would we want Theo Walcott apart from speed that is all he has, he scored what one goal the other night for England and now he is a world beater, wise up! {Ed002's Note - Gebre Selassie is moving to W Bremen.}

Dear eds,
We hear everyday of those romours linking us to players we know and heard about...but do u think its possible that we might bring in any "suprise" players...and by that i mean players whom are unknown to us as fans .. players with potential that could do the jop in the eyes of the managers and convince the scouts...such players from eastern europe or afica or latina america...the way arsenal sometimes brings unknown players to the first squad..
Are we looking to do that now under rodgers?
Thanx {Ed002's Note - Sure.}

Any names come to ur mind eds in this regard? {Ed002's Note - They wouldn't be a surprise then.}

I think some people need to just give the young lads a bit more time, they just aren't physically and mentally ready to cope with starting week in week out in the Premier League. Sterling still needs to grow a lot, as does Suso, although he is further along, and players like Coady still need to 'fill out' a bit to compete in the Central Midfield, I think a loan would do Coady a lot of good. I know how talented some of these lads are, Suso and Sterling especially, but us the fans need patience, we have got to give them the time they need to develop. They may have the ability to be close to the first team but they aren't yet physically ready to compete and this could have an adverse effect later on, Sterling has a similar physique to Owen, not Chamberlain, and look at what chucking Michael in to quick did. We need patience. The "if you're good enough you're old enough" isn't strictly true, you also need to be mentally prepared and physically ready. At best, we should only expect a few cameo's here and there.

Just my opinion.. If we sell..
Aquilani, rodrigez, spearing, adam, pacheco n cole.. Surely the sale of them we'd scrape up £20ish..? n with that bring in..
sigurdsson, krasic n tello which seem pretty well possible.. Then 3 players with our budget.. Somethin like..
Adam Johnson or Ramirez
Soldado or De Jong or Sturridge..
Rasmus Elm or maybe a more defensive mid..
Id be happy with sumthin along those lines.. Any input eds..?

If we sell those below

Aquilani, rodrigez, spearing, adam, pacheco n cole.. Surely the sale of them we'd scrape up £20ish..?

Then after paying the "players off" loyalty bonus, etc. we would have very little left over and your 20 million would not buy one 7M player

Would it really cost millions to sell our players..? If thats the case y is there talk that wed hav to sell players to bring players in outside of the budget..? So all of those players if possibly 'for sale' wil really only buy sigurdsson..? Thats crap if thats the case

I doubt we would get a single pound if we sold all of those players. A couple of million from Adam will be lost by paying off Coles and aquilani's contracts.

MIKEY

Never mind selling the players listed, its the like sof Henderson, Downing, Carroll and Adam we need to get rid off. Waste of money by KK.

Henderson was bought for the future, and Carroll will be here a while, the other 2 well your guess is as good as mine. Rogers stated that every player in the squad has a clean slate and will be assessed accordingly, so he and his team will pick who they no longer want.

I believe Henderson will be a star in the team inside two years

Puzzled

Would it really cost millions to sell our If thats the case y is there talk that wed hav to sell players to bring players in outside of the budget..?

We would have to sell players to free up money on the wages bill

Stop with the no set budget

Every team has a budget even Manchester City

When you say there is no set budget you are making a rod for your back and all the other Ed's as the "children of God" will think that we can buy any player including Cavani and others of his calibre.

funniest post of the week.. Is do Matteo aware he has signed hulk and hinterlaar ?? Torres and Ferrara what the fxxk u need to lay off the smoke mate

I actually think that it is you that in fact needs to lay off the smoke my friend. Here's a few comma's and full stops for the future ,,,, ....

eds how much did city pay for adam johnson and do you think he would cut it at lfc. personally I don't want him anywhere near the club he has a bad attitude and as of recently has not impressed even whilst playing for city. I may be slaughtered for saying such things but overall that's my opinion on the player.

Hi All,

I am just watching LFC TV and a game versus Villa with the midfield and attack being: -

Riera, Alonso, Mascherano, Kuyt with Gerrard playing off Torres. I for one do miss that quality and performance......The midfield 3 of Alonso, Masch and Stevie - awesome right? What does everyone think?

As for the current team, if BR can replicate that kind of quality and performance then I for one will be very happy. All the best to BR and the team.

I can't wait for the new season.

YNWA.

ConnorsLFC

You can't live in the past we are where we are!

We never won the league with that team and we all moaned

But we had a team capable of winning

Yes but our cpach was too defensive and the frailty of the squad got exposed next season when half were injured and/or fell out with benitez

17 Jun 2012 12:43:58
Higuain, Tello & Sigurdsson plus possibly a LB & DM if we can find at the right price. Watch the Higuain move begin to become public as RvP gets closer to his Real move.

Mr No Name

Whats that you said

Mr. No Brain

We havn't got the money for these

Estimating (dont know what exact fees will be):

Higuain - 30m
Tello - 8m
Sigurdsson - 7m
LB & DM - 5m

With a few sales recouping +-15m would FSG not be prepared to pay 35m nett?

Higuian is the big suprise. RvP will cost 30m and Madrid will want 30m for Higuain. 150k p/w. Wait for it.

I'll forgive you for the insult my friend and look fwd to your humblest apologies in due course.

Mr No Name

Sorry do you have fsg's bank details if so can I have a look!
pato108

Higuain won't be coming

And no one at LFC will get 150K a week

Unless Henry sells out to an oil barron {Ed016's Note - Agreed. Those wages are mad.}

17 Jun 2012 12:39:11
Ed 02, Munian , Johnson, Ramirez all possible to varying degrees, would I be correct in thinking all 3 would cost about the same over a 4 year contract, Fee, wages, agents etc inc?
Also purely hypertheticly, which one would you sign? and this is notto be taken as which one you think we might get just which one you would rate best for LFC.
RNred {Ed002's Note - "Possible" in the broadest terms, perhaps. And you are broadly right that they would cost about the same over four years - perhaps Johnson would be higher. The big difference is that after four years two would likely have a good sell on value. That aside, Ramirez would I think offer a lot more options to Liverpool than the others.}

Agree 100%, have a feeling were not after any though to be honest, think BR has his own ideas.
RNred

17 Jun 2012 12:36:38
we will sign sigurdsson and tello (both young, creative talents who can finish) and also an out and out striker, the options currently are saldado (number 1 target) with fall-back options being huntelaar and we have recently become interested in sturridge as he wants to leave and is a great goal poacher ideal for us. We will then sign 2/3 other players that will be used as squad players to replace the players we get rid of (and from what i hear there will be at least 6 of these)
ryan- YNWA

Saldado is not number 1target .
Tellitasitis

Tello isn't that good. he has potential, and if we buy him he could acheive that at liverpool. however he could be another Gio Dos Santos, remember him ?

17 Jun 2012 12:34:12
if it was up to me i would make the following changes in the summer. Sell spearing, aqua, adam, cole, maxi, kuyt, aureillo. Buy sigi 7m, tello 7m, krasic 7m, de jong 15m or solado 20m. If a decent defensive mid and centre half come on the market i would be interested but would be breaking the bank with expensive buy's. Team would be renia glen j/kelly skertel agger jose lucas gerrard sigi front free to pick from the following bellamy/downing/ krasic/tello/suarez/carroll. I think this would be a realistic summer and not a rediculously expensive one either with about 10-15m raised from player sales. Also i believe it fits with the owners transfer policy.

Think you are a bit behind the times mate.Some of those have already moved on from us and some of the others are no longer available.

17 Jun 2012 12:28:46
Hi Eds, I've been reading a few of the other teams pages and i noticed that you lot get treated with a bit more respect over there than here. Do you actually get worse treatment on the liverpool pages or did i just stumble on the nicer pages from other fans?

I just want to know whether this epidemic of treating people who are looking to help us is present on every page or is it just the liverpool fans? {Ed002's Note - Probably 95% of the abuse aimed at the Editors comes from the Liverpool "fans".}

And what is the percentage of posts made by Liverpool fans on their page in comparison to the other teams pages? {Ed002's Note - Higher - but it is no excuse.}

Proportion of LFC fans to non-LFC fans? Maybe something to do with us LFC fans not accepting where our great club is at present (sugardaddy-less)? Dont take it personally 002. {Ed002's Note - Whichever way you look at it I find it unacceptable.}

Hi Ed's, please don't let the minor few numpties paint an incorrect picture of the vast majority of LFC fans and supporters who are respectful and humble in the true LFC way.

Great job done by all. All the best.

YNWA.

ConnorsLFC {Ed002's Note - Sadly Connors it is not just a few.}

Well our fan base is full of people with plenty of pent up title frustration - not as easy to overcome as other forms of frustration, so yes, we are a grumpy bunch at times.

LIVERPRES

There's no excuse for it no matter what explanation you offer. The Eds offer their information to us, they don't have to, i doubt they gain very much from it. Yet they still do it and what they get in response is a growing number of hostile posts. Yes there are those fans who listen to the Eds and are grateful, but there are certainly more at the moment who don't listen, are ungrateful and just rude.

The word on the street is that if the Neymar deal falls through, it's mostly ed002's fault anyway. Deserves a bit of abuse, he would've been class for us.

Nick

Ive just had a pipe burst and my central heatings not working either.... if one of the EDs doesnt get it sorted quick, there will be more abuse heading their way!

On a serious note, the simplest way to stop the abuse is to make everyone formally sign up to the rumours site and allocate passwords etc. Any abuse whatsoever can then either be banned for life or for the more serious cases, report them to the police.

That sort of behaviour is unacceptable in this day and age and I fully support ED002.

17 Jun 2012 11:54:01
Hi Eds. needed to reply to an earlier post after some of the replies I had seemed a little off.

Firstly, being able to spell a players name doesn't mean your a better fan. It just means you can't spell his name you donky.

And from one donky to another... Martina Skrtle...
He was one of the main reasons ewe conceded so many goals last season. Ever since he's been a regular, we've been poor at the back. On top of that, asking him to get his head on the end of a corner to score is like sending Gareth Southgate up for a pen. He can't pass and he deffo cannot move with the ball at his feet.

Other than that, there were moments last season why he was the player of the year for us, but for me... Only because other players didn't do enough to really put their names into the hat. And to say a defended is our best player of last season, during our worst campaign in a hell of a long time, is saying quite a bit.

Thanks for reading.
JT

Oh dear.

Hey, Mr. DONKY, did you even watch Liverpool this season, or are you just a hopeless moper?
You say that Skrtel dont deserve player of the season. Yet due to some unknown reasons , we had one of the best defences in the league. As for him, not scoring goals, it is the Strikers job. But, I think I can remember one he scored against Villa. And obviously the equaliser against Cardiff , which I am sure you missed to notice being such an immense supporter of the club. There is a reason he was chosen the best player because he was our most consistent player throughout the season.

You have no clue. Skrtel has become a very good player (perhaps held back by Carra too long). Why else would top clubs be after him? Use that little bit of grey matter u have.

Skrtel is a Vampire, if I ever saw a Vampire then its Skrtel.

Fellow Reds, just a bit of gossip, went on the Anfield Experience Friday just gone, David Johnson was the guest speaker (very good he was too), just thought I'd share a few of his views:

1) He thought it was right to change Manager, he couldn't understand why certain players were bought and then either played out of position or played in a formation that didn't suit (you can probably guess who he was talking about!)

2) He said that Torres left as many promises that were made just before he signed the new contract were broken, eg. new stadium, more top players coming in etc etc). He went on to say he didn't blame him for wanting to leave but didn't like the manor in which we went about it (he stopped trying!)

3) Probably the most interesting point and indeed was the question I asked was who from the academy did he think would make it and he said only one! Suso! Someone then asked about Sterling etc and he said no, he likened Suso to Fowler and Owen - had something special.

Just thought I'd share with you all

Cheers
Luke

Sorry last bit about Torres was how "he" went about it not "we" Doh!

Luke

Both them will make it I think and suso will be one of the best players in the world in my opinion can dribble pass shoot play anywhere across midfield or as a 10

Suso in CM in EPL? No way. Prob is him and Adorjan can only ever play in the AM or '10' role as neither are quick enough to be a fwd in 4-3-3 formation either. I expect Silva & Sterling to be our future fwd's supporting Carroll. Maybe Suso in behind as the attacking Mid. Hendo & Lucas behind him.

Either that, or Suso will take up clay pigeon shooting with those long passes he plays. Ridiculous...

liverpool looking at an extra str, 2 wingers and a good dmf or amf

it seems we already signed sigurdsson.

as for wingers we have showwn interest in dempsey, kalou, a.johnson and even walcott. of course not to mention sterling who will probably feature this season.

in my opinion andy carroll is a great striker who is just starting to find his way and we have dani pacheco coming back from a loan and he could be a good 3rd striker. it looks though as if we might buy a different 3rd striker or even replace carroll we have been linked with giroud, luuk dejong, higuain, tello, dempsey and matias suarez even though the only strikers i could see coming to us are tello on loan or dejong or matias suarez

realistically who do you think liverpool will sign this season

Messi. well, you asked for it mate.

17 Jun 2012 11:10:11
Liverpool will be signing Sigurdsson, Johnson and Tello by August. Many other players are being considered currently, and there will be more signings I expect (young player up front for example), but for now, these 3 will cost around 30 million and inject some pace and quality in attack that we've been missing since McManaman in '99

No to Johnson why not Ramirez or munian

WHY?? because johnson is well proven in the prem, whereas munian an ramirez are great talents, may take a season to adjust to the pace and lifestyle of such a move, i dont understand the why so many people cant see johnsons undoubted talents.

Hey ed's! Great site! Just wondering why we are being linked with all these average players..? I know most of them are made up but surely we aren't looking at kalou sturridge j.garcia borini and sig(who everyone rates after just a half a season!) To take us to top 4? We should have a chance to land bigger players because of our history and a chance of top 4 finish this season like dzagoev Llorente milner munian etc!

Ed,what is newcastles chief scouts name,its gone out of m head mate. He has discovered real quailty' Ed, gave lfcs chief scout or scout team ever discovered such quailty in cabaye,cisse that have gone unnoticed and have turned out quailty players because looking at the majority of lfcs signings,most of them have been poor considering our stature as a club. I know that the manager has his own idea of players and recieves dossiers from scouts but the scouts I believe for Liverpool have never really discovered a quailty player at around the six and seven million marks from abroad. ED,your opinions welcome ' {Ed002's Note - Graham Carr.}

Dossiers... They're FILES!

Agger cost 6m

Big Sami was about £3.5 m

Red4Ever

Skrtel , Reina , Agger & Coates are in our team now for a combined total of £25 Million .

EdWood

Skrtel, Lucas, Reina, Agger, Luis Garcia, possibly add Alonso to the list as he was relatively cheap considering how he turned out and Enrique, if he reproduces is early season form
Kenny2

But Agger can't possibly be a world class footballer because he came from the Danish league... According to a lot of people on this site, we shouldn't buy players from small clubs because they'll never make it. Here i was thinking Agger was one of the best defenders on the planet, but according to negative "logic" it's not possible and he must actually crap.

Next season is going to be a game changer in terms of the top teams in the Prem.

City will be even stronger and in my opinion will be favourites for the title. Does this upset me?....NO WAY!

I am sick of tabloid newspapers constantly saying that United are the most successful club in England, as they have won the title one more time than LFC, 19 times....and in the process very conveniently forgetting about our 5 European Cups. If City win it, it stops United winning it while we get organised again.

We are a new project and Kenny made a good start to getting us back up there, hopefully Brendan will take us onwards. It may take us two to three years to get there, but in that time a lot could happen.

Let me make my predictions:

1) United will not win the league in the next three years. As a result of this Fergie will be retired to an old peoples home kicking and screaming, wether he likes it or not. His face will be purple all over by then, not just his nose. The fans will demand his head after the 'barren years'. They will then spend ten years in the doldrums, a shadow of their former selves. Giggs and Scholes will still be in the first team.
2) City will be the new team to beat and in 3 years most teams will have worked out how to beat them. After winning the league twice, some of their star players will want to move on for more money, they will be fading stars. Mancini will also leave for bigger project in Italy.
3) David Moyes will join Tottenham, but leave within 18 months and come back to Everton, who by this time will be in the Championship
4) Liverpool will have won 3 FA Cups, 3 Carling Cups, the Europa League twice and in 2015 will finish in second place behind City. The following year we will win the League title , then proceed to win it for the following ten years.
5) I will hopefully be in a nursing home dreaming of warm porridge and pretty nurses.

Tel 1949

6) Roman Ambramovich will get bored of Chelsea in two years and will sell them, using the money to plot to take over the world. Chelsea's "stars" will leave and Chelsea will face two consecutive relegations.

7) Arsene Wenger will contine to sign Arsenal's players younger and younger until he is accused of pedophilia and move back to France.

Jolly Red

I'd revise number 2) Citys owners will simply have enough and walk away from the club, the massive wages and ridiculous expenses over the years will completely cribble the club and they'll be playing in league 1 and be run by the bank, Tevez, Johnson, the Toures and Aguero will still be playing for them, at the same wages.

City are already preparing for the future

Do some research

If you hope LFC get better by the demise of City and Chelsea you may have along wait.

Henry is more likely to quit LFC long before the oil barrons.

17 Jun 2012 10:41:13
Is it true that the only way we're going to get rid of the Italian is to buy him out of his contract? The guy is shameless, surely he should just walk away and we can forget he ever was at our club... {Ed002's Note - No, there was an offer on the table that Liverpool rejected - theu should see if it remains available.}

He a disgrace, let him rot in the reserves if an offer doesn't come in
Howcouldheplay {Ed002's Note - That is never going to happen.}

17 Jun 2012 10:07:12
Christian Tello.....Is it true we are lookin at this guy?
I have seen him play in several games.....what a talent, prospect and technically gifted player. This would be a real coup if he is signed. Ta Ed.

17 Jun 2012 10:03:02
i done some research an pieces of the transfer puzzle are starting to fall into place.
1) Gylfi Sigurdsson - talks have been held; fee has been agreed.
2) Daniel Sturridge/Victor Moses - We will sign 1 out of these two to become our Striker.
3) Adam johnson - Again talks have been held but fee cannot come to a agreement, LFC representatives are not looking to pay over 12 million.

Thats it for now...

17 Jun 2012 10:03:02
Now that dave fallows has joined lfc do u think there is a chance of him bringing adam johnson? {Ed002's Note - The two are unconnected.}

17 Jun 2012 09:58:22
Eds, Now matteo has been given the chelsea job. Rumours are Sturridge will want a move. I think with Kuyt moving on, It would be a good option, He knows where the net is, Young, with time on his side, And BRs attacking ideas, Isnt this what we have been lacking. Great site, Keep up the good work.

Dominic's done well!

If we got tello we do not need sturridge

17 Jun 2012 09:37:27
Hi Eds i really enjoy checking my iphone in the mornings to bring up this site. Its not only very informative but also a great crack. I think the best part is sharing the lfc fans desire for potential signings, that really have as much chance of happening as Alex ferguson has at becoming the next boss of man city!!

I have followed the reds of anfield for 30 years and love this time of year. Seeing who were interested in. Makes me smile some of the names we are rumoured to be watching etc but we are liverpool so anything can happen.

I dont think anything can properly happen till July 1st......... Please confirm this Eds?

Anyway im actually quite looking forward to this season. In my mind we have a group of lads.... Regardless on who else we bring in that can do a half decent job. Yes of course 8th last time and a CC trophy is not great, but come on everyone lets see what happens after this year.

We have quality in all areas. Just look at euros and see what players are performing well......gerrard....johnson......carroll......agger.......

I agree a natural poacher/scorer needs bringing in and perhaps another winger. However in my eyes thats all we need.

As i said great site, great humour and great insight into my fellow reds fans ambitions for the greatest club in the football world.

Good luck boys for 12/13 and good luck Mr Rodgers.

Ynwa never ever!! {Ed002's Note - If buying a player from an English club or someone out of contract or released from his contract, then they can be purchased now. If buying a player under pretty much any other circumstances, then the transfer cannot be processed until July 1.}

17 Jun 2012 09:33:53
there are Talk about Transfer Budget. but did we need much money? Walcot is there Sigurdsson is a good player. Cole is Back I don't think we need so many Player.

17 Jun 2012 09:10:42
Remember a few years ago Gabriel Heinze of Man UJnited tried to push for a move to Liverpool, Ferguson just said NO and later sold him on once he had cover or when HE wanted to.

So why are we worried about losing players who are contracted? Surely we just say NO if thats what suits us.

These guys are paid a fortune weekly, what the ordinary person has to work 1, 2, 3, 4, or even years they earn in a WEEK - on what planet should they dictae if contracted.

RedLee

People forget there is a 50 % tax rate

So even if a player gets £100,000 that's still £50,000 you don't class that as a fortune?

Reply to 2nd poster.

Tom.

People also forget the extensive means that players and thier agents have at their disposal to ensure they pay as LITTLE tax as they can - 50% = myth in most cases if not all...

I also pay tax

With what they get written off by expensive accountants they pay no where near 50% tax overall

17 Jun 2012 08:21:27
I hope that Rodgers realises that the way forward is through youth players. Look at Man U and Arsenal they start young players and they have a great first season especially welbeck, jones and chamberlain. I hope Rodgers realises this and gives youth a go especially sterling!

Welbeck was 20 before playing fairly regularly. As for OX and Jones, those two are built like a tank, and hence can face the hard physical challenges of Premier League. But unfortunately, Sterling is nowhere close in build to the duo. hence, either he will need to buff up or wait for one more year before becoming a regular. This is not the case in countries like Spain, where due to low physicallity young players like Tello, Cuenca and Muniain can play fairly regularly.

17 Jun 2012 08:20:09
Eds, hope u post this..
Rodgers will sign 4 players, central def mid, amc, winger and striker.
Amc - sigurdsson. Pretty much done deal.
Winger-gaston,ryad boudebouz,krasic,tella or afellay.
Central def mid - Joe allen if he send transfer req. Jordie clasie also under consideration.
Striker-Soldado is recommendation from scout. Rodgers looking for tall, n skillfull striker. Dzeko being recommeded but maybe he is not interested in lfc.

I'd love Ramirez
Tello
Soldado or a cheaper option like hooper or de Jong taking age into consideration

Funny how some of the fans on this site are demanding more British players. I am English and I'm not slagging off the English at all, but it is funny to see that from these demands we'd see a team with: G.Johnson, Carra, Kelly, Spearing, Hendo, Downing, Sturridge, A.Johnson, Gerrard, Walcott, Carroll... 8-9 of those are already strong contenders for starting for England. I can undersand why people are saying Liverpool are in the Euro's, but hey this would shed some light on England as most the players would be used to playing alongside each other! Saying that, I don't think Walcott, Sturridge, A.Johnson are the answers to our prayers... YNWA

So let me guess, the players that are the answers to our problems would be... spanish players? Or south american ones?

Question: Why is it that some people love having english clubs strengthen the national squads of other countries and weaken their own?

The answer is simple trigger a lot of us if not the majority of us world wide LFC fans are not English and couldn't give a toss about them.
Listen to what Henry told you this week, it is not about the Ground it is about the global market.

I agree with the second comment.. Why should we set our attention to english players when there's a whole world full of potential!

Liverpool set to sign: Solomon Kalou, Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, Theo Walcott, Adam Johnson {Ed016's Note - No, No, No and Probably not.}

17 Jun 2012 05:15:54
So I've been reading a lot of these forums and I've come to the conclusion (just out of some of the names being mentioned) that we're most likely going to sign now Krasic, Sigurdsson and Tello. To be honest, I think they would be great additions and really boost our team, but there's still a few more areas that we need to polish off. A striker and a backup for Lucas. My personal choice of strikers would be Soldado or Jackson Martinez (Martinez because we don't really want another massively expensive striker so he fits the category of cheap and able to score goals). Obviously Martinez is not proven in the premier league but I've seen him play a few times for Jaguares in the past and he's surprised me. Soldado on the other hand is well known, unfortunate not to make the euro but as clinical as they come, he too would make it in the premier league in my opinion. To sum up, both are strong, pacey, clinical and aware enough to cut in the EPL. As for a backup for Lucas, I'm not really sure who we could get, but I would love to see Diame under BR. I think the lad has potential and is proven in the EPL. Yes only at a lower club than Liverpool but he can only grow as a player too!

So what does everyone think?

YNWA!
JS

Backup striker, yilmaz - 32 goals in 36 games - buyout clause 7m.

I've heard of "yilmaz" too but never seen him play. You can't base a player by statistics but it certainly grabs everyones attention! So those statistics are very good but so are Martinez's, I guess it would be up to the scouts and BR to decide who can cut it and we as fans can only hope for the best!

Never posted before so i dont have a great rep like macca.
Was talking to brendans family tonight in coleraine. He has been told his transfer budget is unlimited if he can prove he needs each player & we get a good deal on wages. Fsg will pay wotever it takes to get his players if the wages are sensible. Ac was the 1 player kk wanted & br thinks £35m could be a bargain.(dont see it myself but hope i am wrong) BR is trying his best to keep aquaman cos he thinks he is a game changer. JOe cole has already agreed to £35000 pw & knows he is sub most games. Bad news first, a spanish club has bid for agger & 1 spanish, 1 italian have bid for skrtel. We are happy to let one go but def not both, thay have both been told this & both are actually happy to stay. But every player in our squad has a value, if we are bid alot over it you are leaving no questions asked & nothing BR can say. This is a long rumour already so i will post the rest tomorrow. Dont get excited tho, it is expected we will not get our first choices. But the next names are better than what we have signed in a few years.

First post ever but the truth as i have heard

Thanks mate. what time tomorrow please?

Joe cole getting 35k per week just has just blown away any credibility you might have, mate. Are you taking the piss?!

I think Liverpool will sign Siggursoun (spelling) Tello and Krasic. I also think we will try and get a centre forward don't know who though. I think Skrtel will leave along with Maxi and Spearing. My hope is that Coates is Skrtel's replacement as he is going to be world class.

Wouldn't go for krasic I'd go for Ramirez or Munian instead or even susaeta

Someone earlier mentioned a player called Mannut Matsch playing well in the Euro's. I've never heard of him, who is he and what nationality is he? I've even seen every game..

He certainly has not been playing on th flanks for England

am i the only one who doesnt see what the big deal about sigurdsson is? just because rodgers wanted him at swansea doesnt mean that hes liverpool material, especially if he is not a first choice player at hoffenheim...

Hes a goalscoring midfield player. How many do we have currently? Gerrard (who is the first to admit he can longer spend 90 mins playing box to box). Sigurdsson scored 7 premier league goals last season and had 3 assists he managed that in 17 appearances. The lad scored more goals than Hendo,Adam,Spearing and Lucas combined playing for a (no disrespect to Swansea) smaller club. The fact he cant get into the Hoffenheim team shouldnt go against him. Players with a higher profile than him have played for clubs found it hard to settle then left only to become "Superstars" for another club. Remember Forlan? He struggled in this country, could only score when Dudek was throwing them in for him......He went on to win the pichichi, golden boot then the golden ball.
Now im not expecting sigurdsson to reach those heights, but you have to trust the manager with the players and style of football he wants to bring to the club.

Jigglypoof

Wow, so that means all the quality players who have a fall out with the management or are excess to requirements should not be eligible for Liverpool. No wonder, we missed out on players like Ba, Cisse , Jelavic etc...

Mascherano wasn't first choice at west ham. Some players just fit at certain clubs, let's hope siggurdson fits at LFC. Looks a very good player to me so I'm happy but need a few more. CQ

my personal opinion on the stadium is that JWH and co will push for it a little harder once the team is back on track. lets face it we have been out for a while and once we look like were ready to obtain CL for a few years then they will push it more and it would be a little easier to get funding. thats how i see it atleast. now im not saying they will wait a few years before we make a decision on it but im sure you understand what im saying. BostonRedBlox

Why would they re-develop Anfield at a substantial cost and then move to a new venue, wouldnt that be a waste of money buddy? Miami_Red

We don't need a new stadium we are talking about missing out on an extra few million a year when we should be talking about growing our revenues in foreign countries which will have an extra figure on that number each year

Not posted for a while on here because of the amount of trolls but thought I would. I'd be happy with Sigurdsson, a good young player with an eye for goal, and will hopefully add some much needed depth to the squad. It will be interesting to see where he is played. It was also nice to see Carroll doing well yesterday, but even better to see Gerrard back to something close to his best, we really missed him last year. A good RW and a quality striker are needed, and a back up for Lucas and Sigurdsson would be a very good summer in my eyes. On another note I'm praying that the 3rd kit doing the rounds is a fake, its hideous, purple and orange, are they having a laugh? I was sick in my mouth when I seen it..

Nice to see you back, Smithy mate. Ignore us trolls mate, you should be used to my BS by now surely?

I agree mate. I would take Sigurdsson especially if were getting him for 7-8 mill. I remember him playing for Reading when he was 19-20 and thought that he would go to a half decent PL club but opted for Germany. I think he is a good footballer and obviously fits in with BR's style of play.

Also agree about a RW and a Striker mate, they are a necessity imo. A good transfer window for us imo would be

Tello
Sigurdsson
Soldado/Dejong
Ramirez/Adam Johnson (as part of the Skrtel deal, if he wants to go to City) Or even Krasic at 6 mill would be a good buy too.
Micah Richards (if Skrtel goes to City)

And we have to give Sterling more game time. I hope BR gives Sterling plenty of game time during pre-season. We could have a little gem on our hands. I just hope BR can see what we can see with young Raheim. The kids got talent and great potential. Fingers crossed BR will feature Sterling more often not just in Europa League games or Cup games. But also in the PL. I genuinely believe if BR gives Raheim a chance and more minutes on the pitch, Downing should be worried for his future as an LFC player.

I agree with your Micah Richards idea Blair, would be a nice bit of business if we pulled it off...

Myk

Downing should already be worried about his LFC future, whether sterling makes it or not.

hi eds new to this site and lovin it.willems dutch left back only 18 i heard commentaters given out about him but i was impressed and is jack robinson still at the club sorry if that sounds stupid. {Ed001's Note - Robinson is still with us, I expect him to push on and get more appearances next season, if he can avoid injury.}

This is just my opinion ...... but he's the worst Left back i've seen at the tournament ! Germany exposed him as a very weak player the other night, not that Holland have many quality defenders .....

64bithero

I expect Robinson to with us for a long time. Proper old school left back.

eds, maybe our scouts should look at julio gomez aswell , he's a winger or an attacking midfielder , ive just googled him and was impressed with what it said about him , he won the golden boot aswell , so if macca has any contacts within liverpool he should get them to scout julio gomez and carlos fierro because i think we are linked with marco bueno because he plays with julio gomez , thanks for any answers you may give on these players ,,,,,,mickey b {Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about him sorry.}

Fierro is gonna be quality.

hiya eds , man utd have been signing mexican players , is there any chance of us signing any young ones like Carlos Fierro , he looks like he is going to be a great player , i dont know about the nationality and needing a work permit but he is one for the future and we shoud go in and get him , even if it means signing him now but letting him stay to develop or wait for his work permit , as ive said before this is a great site and it informs me before anyone else i know who i drink with :)) about liverpool rumours , any reply would be greatfull ,,,,,,,,,,mickey b {Ed001's Note - it is not that easy to get players from outside of the EU, they need to have played a certain percentage of first team games for their national side within the last 12 months. Or they must be shown to be a special talent. It is easier to look for players who have an EU passport.}

The Striker Utd have just spent £3m on is to go straight out on loan to another european club untill he can gain the standards required to work here. Just to back up what Ed is saying.
