Did liverpool have irish players when we won the CL 2005??.. Im literally askin a question as i dont know if we did but if we didnt the poster above needs to chill out anyway when did ireland win any silverware

MJ
-----------------------------

Stevie Finnan & yes Ireland has won two trophies (in 1987 - a Tri Nation tournament & just in the last month the coveted (lol) Carling Nations Cup) so ha ha!
Irish Kev. {Ed001's Note - what about in the early days? The pre-war titles I mean, I can't remember whether there were any Irish in those.}

if we're looking for an experienced goalkeeper, why not Steve Harper? 36 years old, cheap, a Liverpool fan and could make a great future coach... used to playing no.2 most importantly!

Liverpool are in talks with a surprise target, Thomas muller from bayern Munich for 21 m plus pacheao.

Good shout! Would have been an superb addition to the squad, and as a different target man than Carroll, Liverpool could lay different match strategies against different teams. Eds, have you heard anything about this? Fantastic site btw! {Ed001's Note - not a thing, I very much doubt Bayern would consider selling him.}

Hi Ed,

A great website. Just to confirm that adam deal is looking good - Man U in last 24 hrs confirmed not interested and adam doesn't want to move to London. Downing deal close and his representatives have already scheduled a meeting with McLeish to tell him he wants to go. Arsenal have dropped their interest in Downing so Liverpool should get their man in next 10 days. Mata deal is already completed so dont worry about that. H Bomb

Hi eds who is the clown claiming we are after bentley and that he is worth £14 million and £75k a week, I nearly spat my coffee out when I read that, only serious rumours or if you are really in the know don't post things for the sake of it, it spoils the read for everyone. Eds on a serious note any more news on Adam thought he was supposed to sign today or is that oyston twonk still playing silly buggers.

I agree with this post bentley 14 million hahaha what you on if you seen the state bentley was in when I went to Ibiza Eden then you would pray too god he's not aloud near merseyside ever falling over sick down his top smoking looked a right t*at I just wish I took my phone out to record it at the time was funny but he got some serious issues role model my arse ( suarez's left ball )

Despite the fact that Kenny Dalglish could likely deliver a trophy next season, next season will ultimately be a success if LFC finnish in the top 4 without winning a trophy.

First post here on this great site :)

I know people say Aguero doesn't want to join a side not in Europe, but he has said in the past he is a Liverpool fan, Chelsea seem to be going for Romelu Lukaku with Sturridge, Anelka, Torres, Malouda, Kalou and Drogba already at the club perfectly capable of playing in the first team, Real Madrid likewise have Higuain, Benzema, Ronaldo, are soon to permanently sign Adebayor and look set to sign Neymar as well.

As for Man City, with Sanchez and several other players lined up already I cannot see them making a £40m offer for another striker when players like Dzeko and Balotelli have yet to fully develop.

What do you think eds?

Thanks for reading,

Will {Ed009's Note - I very much doubt that Aguero will be moving to Liverpool.}

17 Jun 2011 22:57:02
hi ed
wat 2 wingers do u think we'll get {Ed009's Note - I think we'll get Marveaux and Downing, but I believe there could well be another one, perhaps from abroad, also.}

17 Jun 2011 23:17:42
Adam said sorry because it was the right thing to do Kev, weather or not he had to do so is a different matter.My dad was Irish so i was offended but like ya said at least he manned up and apologised.Think we should close the lid on it now and just forget it ever happened.Jonny Boy
-------------------------------
Hello Jonny Boy,
If you'd read what i said fully, you'd see that i didn't see what Adam said initially that caused the offence, but yes he did apologise so fair play to him & i fully agree that this should be the end of it now.
He was clearly joking!
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

Ed, what do u think Gerrard will be like next season? {Ed001's Note - I think he will be back and raring to go. I expect to see much more from him this season, he has had a break, his injury problems have been seen to and this is the time for him to step up. I actually fancy him to have his best season ever for us.}

17 Jun 2011 23:06:23
Hi ed,

It looks like Cristian Zapata will be signing, now with the extension of the Greek's contract does this mean Daniel Agger will be leaving?

Daniel Hanwell {Ed001's Note - Kyrgiakos's contract has nothing to do with anyone else's situation whatsoever, his extension was due to a clause in his contract.}

17 Jun 2011 22:58:18
All the hype at the start of the week regarding Adam has come to nothing, agents and players from all over the world are linking themselves to our super club What a difference a year makes. We can claim to have seen and know someone who knows something about all these different players being linked with us but in the end only DC and KK have the real blueprint for the future players arriving. Let nature take it's course and be privlaged to sit back knowing that our great club is being put back together by a true legend who has Liverpool FC running through his veins.

Great times ahead fellow reds..

Re the guy who questioned the Adam code rumour:

He stated on Twitter the following:

Just received my new clubs adidasuk hopefully get a hit with them this afternoon

Its not code whatsover, he's been after new clubs for a while and has bought some Taylor made clubs similar to those of Lee Westwood.

Sorry to disappoint.

@Charlie26Adam
"Just received my new clubs adidasuk hopefully get a hit with them this afternoon"

Someone was asking what Adam said on twitter earlier today. Doubt he was coding. But I can see why people are looking into it like.

Still unsure as to whether we're going to get Adam to be honest

Marveaux has failed his medical due to a previous groin injury. LFC Are not willing to gamble 60k a week on the player who could spend more time on the treatment table than on the pitch.

17 Jun 2011 22:18:44
we have been connected to the same 5 or 6 british players for quite some time now without a signing other than henderson, i believe we are going for foreign players which cant be signed until 1 july we wont get adam downing dann etc we will get pure class in mata, alonso, and gomez.

17 Jun 2011 22:10:48
Surely this stuff about marveaux failing a medical has to be untrue? I seem to remember loads of players having medicals while still injured and passing. V.Nistelrooy to utd was still suffering the effects of his damaged ACL when he passed at united. Shearer to newcastle. Ljungberg to west ham. Dyer to west ham.

For marveaux to fail a medical surely his legs must have actually fallen off?

Rewflo {Ed001's Note - it depends on what is wrong with him and what kind of insurance cover we were looking for.}

17 Jun 2011 21:42:10
plenty of oppertunity for us to use players such as meireles cole aqualani, poulsen maxi etc as makewights for top players or young up n coming, swap cole for tarbat n few quid, could use meireles to valencia for mata r bilbao for javi martinez n aaquilani to udinese or napoli for , makes sense eh ed??

I've heard that recent target Lucas Barrios is not a real person but in fact Damien Commoli created hybrid of Lucas Leiva and Milan Baros...should be some player.

Really good website and find myself typing this into my phone everytime i wake up! haha

Really hope Liverpool can broker a deal for Juan Mata and Charlie Adam, think they will add much needed creativity and flair to the team.

Also whilst im quite apprehensive when it comes to "Bosman" signing's, my Uncle who lives in Normandy has said he has watched him a number of times over the years and seems to think he can add something Different to the team.

And to all the people moaning about the fact that were not linked with the Aguero's and Neymar's of this world, I for one trust in Kenny's Judgement and finally look towards a season with excitement and optimism for the first time in years! YNWA!

also id like to say that i believe liverpool will sign A Johnson, mata, Adam, Zapata and clichy. {Ed001's Note - I wish I could but a Friday night is not the best time to have a chat with people!}

17 Jun 2011 20:15:28
Ed, or Macca, has Marveaux passed his medical or not? Also, do you think he will sign even if he fails his medical? {Ed001's Note - I am trying to find out for sure what is happening, but it is a friday night and people are out on the lash and not in a position to discuss things. Personally I would expect the medical to be taken again if he has failed it.}

{Ed001's Note - I think the Polish might disagree with your post, they are the butt of numerous jokes about being stupid just about everywhere else in the world.}
--------------------
I personally have never heard even one joke aimed at the Polish genuinely & i have lived both in the UK & Germany for some time in both.
Not saying you're wrong ed as i can only speak from my point of view.
But we can add them in there to a list of 3 so who are stereotyped over & over again.
I was on the end of some racism in Germany for having what a local believed was my English accent & to make a long story short he showed a very clear hatred for anything British to which i used my own choice English back in return, but then when he realised i was Irish born & raised he was ridiculously nice to me so i guess all Nationalitys have their haters! He was actually Dutch as it turned out & a d**khead to boot lol!!!
There's always one lol!!
Cheers,
Irish Kev. {Ed002's Note - A Dirkhead then?}
----------------------------------------

Ed that would be an insult to the workhorse himself, in the same way that hick off is meant as an insult to tom {Ed001's Note - just to explain Kev, in the US they use the same Irish gags you would get here but they switch it to make the butt as Pole.}
----------------------------------------

A Dirkhead ha ha!
Very good Ed002 ha ha - Poor Dirk!
I catch ya Ed001, no worries mate!

I'm sure we'd all agree that whoever it's aimed at - it shouldn't be tolerated (jokes / innocent ribbing are all good & i love them as much as the next person, but when it goes a bit further into the nasty stuff obviously it's not on then).

Fair play anyway to the lad Adam who apologised earlier for whatever way he may have insulted certain folk. He didn't have / need to apologise, but he did which says a lot of good about him. So i have no doubts he only meant whatever he said initially as a joke.

Cheers,
Irish Kev.

Lots of stuff going on about our new 3rd kit, blue etc but i think there's more valid question that needs answering, do we need a 3rd kit? who will we wear it against???"

The third kit can be worn against Aston Villa away. The only Premier League team that comes to mind. Maybe against Man United away.

Also other teams in the Carling and FA Cup.

Not really a rumour merchant, more a few of my observations.

1. Has anyone looked at the fixtures? What a run in! After Arsenal in March only 1 game (Chelsea) we shouldn't be picking up all 3 points from, in our last 11 games! And we finish off to Swansea who'll more than likely already be down by that time... Happy days for once!

2. The 3rd Kit. Whatever!! It's more spurs than Everton, in fact more Real, but whoever it's like I dont care and neither should anyone else, if you don't like it get the Red or Black ones to put Suarez or Mata's name on the back....

3. Someone mentioned David Bentley on here earlier. I for one would welcome the guy, get him away from London nightlife and get him playing again like he was at BB and hes one of the best Right Wingers in the Prem. If we could get him for 4-5m I think it would be much better signing than Downing for £15m++. The guy has so much potential and ability that has gone sorely to waste. Young, English & v.v cheap international. Imagine that right foot putting in crosses and and free kicks for Carrol.....

4. I understand that Mario Gomez will be arriving at Anfield during this transfer window, from what I have been led to believe by a German based friend.

17 Jun 2011 20:20:34
Pretty glad Marveax deal might be dead. Surely we can go for better players than that. He may be free, but worth £60k a week..... really?
Rumours are that Downing might be next target. A solid Prem player, but Mata or Cazorla would be cheaper & better option.
Also think we should look around Italy trying to offload Aquilani as part of player swap.

Don't you think that's a little naive? Have you looked at United's central midfield vs Liverpool's? I suggest
you look again and then decide which one is easier to get into. (PS United aren't trying to sign him anyway.

Hi All first time post. ED 002 YOU ARE THE BOSS !!! Leroy Lita has informed me that Liverpool are in a talks with a young chinese boy called TING FUNG LAI. Aged 13, already playing for the CHINA u18 s. This lad is supposed to be the next Dalglish. A big kid for his age group 5 9 speed of a sprinter but ball skills of Messi. A figure of 2 million to his parent club agreed. Watch for the name.

Just heard from my mate Percie Pieeater that the biggest contract signed this summer is gonna be a brand new Pukka Pies stall in the in the Main Stand (Anfield Road end) as if this wasn't exciting enough I heard that a certain Ken Aguero is going to running it, Percie is totally in the know about anything pie related and has some Pukka conections he also started waffeling about some lad Sanchez signing but I didn't really hear propperly because I passed out from excitment after hearing about the pies, I can't wait for next season.

So welsh Kopstar you think its acceptable to call people by their nationalities? Fair enough mate you advocate so masterfully with real incision, and mindblowing arguments I stand corrected. Have you ever thought about a career in law my friend? Jari_L

No, what I am saying is simple. Sk is the only player at Liverpool with Greek Nationality. His name is a mouthful and to type it would require an immediate spell check on most occasions if your brain functions anything like mine or the person that initially called him it. If there were ten Greek players at LFC and somebody then said "The Greek" then it would simply cause confusion.

I didnt make the initial post but was shocked to see that somebody would take calling SK - The Greek offensively!

So as of today, the only player we have signed is Henderson, and the only other thing we have heard directly from any players themselves is from Zapata, neither of which ANY of us talked about before the stories broke.

Lets try to be patient and let management find the deals without us fans kicking and screaming about every rumor. Trust.

Also, if I hear another "Adam will sign in X hours" comment, I will punch my own nuts.

Ed what do you think are the chances that some LFC fans will grow up and stop throwing their dummy out the pram over a strip of blue in a kit? {Ed009's Note - that's got to be the least likely rumour I've ever read on here. Can we have the comparitively nailed on Kun Aguero ones back ;).}
--------------
I can't believe people are getting so worked up about it. Just because it has a small strip of blue in it. It is pathetic I personally think it is a nice strip, does not mean I support Everton

Hi ED! Are we, or have we had any interest in Ryan Shawcross, at one time he was quite heavily knocking on the door or England, and he is one giant man. Do you know of any interest, or previous interest, only 23? {Ed009's Note - I doubt it, and Manchester United have first refusal on any signing of the player. I don't believe he is good enough personally.}

Zapata, 24, made the announcement prior to the start of his participation in the Copa America with Colombia.
The centre-back helped Udinese finish fourth in Serie A last season but appears ready to bring his six-year spell at the club to a close in order to move to Anfield. {Ed002's Note - He did not make an "announcement" - he was simply asked in an interview what was happening in the future.}

Cristian Zapata has revealed that Liverpool and Bayern Munich both want to sign him but a move to Anfield is the most serious option.

The Colombian also said that it is unlikely that he will transfer to Arsenal, with the north London club's interest appearing to have subsided.

Zapata helped Udinese qualify for next season's Champions League but admits he hopes to leave the club.

"I have some options, " Zapata told Colombian radio station La FM. "Bayern Munich and Liverpool are two real possibilities for me. We are pretty close to those clubs and those are my options and I hope they come true.

"I haven't heard much from Arsenal, that possibility seems to be at a standstill at the moment. The Liverpool option is the most serious one."

The 24-year-old joined Udinese in 2005 and is contracted to the Serie A side until June 2013.

Am I the only one who isn't that impressed with Charlie Adams when there are better options? I am happy buying young British players but I would also like to see a good mixture of foreign players such as Ever Banega. To me Adams is a good player in a bad team, big fish in a small pond, but I don't see him being a long term player to add creativity to our midfield.

Thanks

I know everyone is saying we should back the manager but the 16 million paid for Jordon Henderson is crazy when we have Suso who is better than him sitting in out reserves. That 16 million would have been better off spending on 2 young wingers on their final year of there contracts like Menez 8 mil and N'Zogbia 9 mil or Budabouz 5 mil.Why pay over the odds for british players when we are already snapping up young british talent and we already have coady and sterling. If we keep investing 16 million on these players it will be harder for the likes of Coady to get a look in. Where as if we spend it on foreigners we can get better value for money and keep bringing through young possible future stars for liverpool like Kelly, Robinson and Flanagan as we will still need british players to do with this new law. I like Andy Carrol but with that money we could have got to top class strikers from Europe like Cavani and Lavezzi. All im saying is liverpool should snap up the talent when there younger and bring them up to play the liverpool way, the perfect example being barcelona.

Hi to all and Eds

Just wanted to know about this possible merge with fenway and an arabic company reportedly worth billion's that someone posted on here a while ago.........to that person who said a deal would be done within 7 days where's the news as i have'nt heard a thing since.

Eds do you know anything of this mate......... {Ed009's Note - It isn't going to happen, and I for one am glad.}

17 Jun 2011 17:22:56
hey eds just a quick thought.
can we (you) organise a little competition?
set up a page were we can all post a league table prediction for the end of the season.
we have to have our predictions in before the first game.
with all the big teams planning overhauls of players it will be a lot harder to predict.
whoever is closest gets all the bragging rights and maybe a prize??
would be great if all the eds had a go as well.
mikey {Ed009's Note - I will pass your wishes on to numero uno. I like the idea but I bet it would be hard to facilitate! I suppose the prize wouldn't be too hard, I'll just get it for myself and save the hassle of waiting till the end of the season.}

David Bentley has emerged as a transfer target for Damien Comolli, and a bid of around £14m should secure his services. Comolli is known to be a huge admirer and will offer Bentley £75k a week to join the merseysiders. A deal should be completed early next month.

This is one of the best jokes I have read today!!! Ross

would love see LUCAS RODRIGUEZ play at anfield quality player also ERIK LAMELA that would be a deadly attacking force along with what we have already got.

17 Jun 2011 17:19:50
with the money being spoken about for our left back targets am i the only one that thinks that with Johnson, kelly, Robinson and Flanagan we have left back covered........i know most are right backs but Johnson played some of his best football for Liverpool from left back last season

17 Jun 2011 17:19:36
Hey Ed(s). Wanted your thought on the following...

AquaMan in a £££+ or swap deal for Samuel Eto'o ? (Probably like £2m + Aquilani..?)

After his recent comments about wanting to ply his trade in the EPL before he's past it, I think he'd be a great addition. I know he doesn't fit the FSG model for young, resell-able players...BUT he's quality. He literally has everything a ST should have; he's fast, strong, physical, 2-footed, can make a pass, etc. Lets say offer him a 2.5-3 yr deal. He'd be perfect for either playing on his own, or playing him in a front 3 (Saurez/Carroll/Eto'o), as Mourinho did with him at Inter, where we saw an Eto'o we'd all never seen (defending from the front that is..)

Would appreciate your view guys...peace!

LojR {Ed001's Note - he was a great player with a terrible attitude, now he is a quite good player with a terrible attitude. I would rather we looked elsewhere.}

17 Jun 2011 17:19:33
For the money that we are goin to spend on CHARLIE ADAM i fink we should put it towards signing JAVI MARTINEZ i watched him for spain U21 against are boys and he was brilliant he can do everything adam can do and better.

17 Jun 2011 17:19:30
It seems the trendy thing for "Liverpool" fans is to right players off before they even kick a ball.
Give them a chance and show support!!

17 Jun 2011 17:18:40
now then scousers, coming from a leeds fan i am routing for u guys next season, u have made some good signings with carroll and suarez and i hope u over take them scummers and get to 20 titles, dont let the rest of the country down, chelsea are too old and every manager they get in dont get the right players and arsenal........well they are just full of excuses, its down to u now!

17 Jun 2011 17:16:42
David Bentley is a bad player I personally would rather downing and there would not be much difference in the transfer fee what do you thik ed ? {Ed001's Note - well Bentley is a right winger, but he is also a very poor right winger, I would rather play every game with 10 men personally.}

I'd like to make a ppublic apology. I didn't mean to be insulting to blondes or Irish people. It was a light hearted joke. I happen to be part Irish and I am related to multiple blondes. I did state it was a joke immediately after on the same post. I even put a wink face to show it wasn't serious. I'm certainly not a racist p**lk. I think thts pretty harsh. Its called Liverpool banter... Go onto jokes of the day and i'm sure you'll find much worse...
Anyway, Sorry fellow posters, and sorry Eds.
Please post in rumours for all to see. I donm't want my name tarnished over this :'(

I love this site. I think you eds do fantastic job. I really hope if Johnson becomes available, we go for him. £20 million I think is a bargin at today's inflated prices. Downing not so sure potential yes really ever delivered NO. Adam great player, fab for the squad. To be honest everyone says this and that. Does anyone know who were buying/ selling no. Kd/dc are the boys in the know so let's believe they will do the right thing. Just sign mata. Un believable player . Ta

17 Jun 2011 17:08:47
liverpool to sign the following:
messi (100 mill)
ronaldo (90 mill)
torres (30 mill)
Bale (30 mill)
Beckham (20 mill)
Mata (22 mill)
Hazard (30 mill)
Villa (50 mill)

This is the type of s**t i find on here some times. however it can also be useful about the likes of adam etc. can people please stop talking about big money signings! we are going to sign young players with potential behind closed doors so other clubs cannot drive up the price

17 Jun 2011 16:56:12
Does anyone else think that Marveaux is going to turn out to be another free transfer failure in a long line of Liverpool signings? How come no-one else seems interested in aquiring his services? Only played 10 games in the whole of last season. Come next Christmas I bet we will be looking at giving him away! {Ed009's Note - Both Manchester United and Chelsea were heavily interested in the player at one point or another. He turned both teams down in order to maintain first team football. I personally believe he could be the surprise success of next season and that we should wait until he dons Liverpool red before passing judgement on him - and in fact all our other signings.}

17 Jun 2011 17:00:39
Dont know why people are talking about gago! lucas is a better player and is proven in the EPL unlike the madrid reject. If any player from madrid should be signed it should be alonso. As for everyone eles A johnson is a much better player than downing and has more potential. Adam deal has been put on hold due to united's bid.

Just a quick question to the eds and fellow posters.

I read a while back that this website will never be one of those which you have to sign up and pay etc. However, have you considered making a donation paypal for the site ? I'm sure there are 100s if not 1000s of posters from all over the place especially during transfer window and what difference would donating £1 a month or something make.

You would be able to share it out between all the eds and have some extra cash. Would be a good idea considering how much you do for everyone. Great site.

Jay92 {Ed009's Note - Personally I don't want money for doing this on the site (not to say I would turn it down), really we just want people to continue reading it. I'll pass it on to the big boss though.}

17 Jun 2011 16:49:42
hey ed..dont u think we are looking at players who are a little overrated and overpriced. Like Henderson if u like..dont you think we can get better options abroad.Are we even looking at any other foreign players except for the one or two mentioned??thanks. {Ed009's Note - I believe we are likely looking at innumerable players from abroad, and pressed to suppose, I would suggest we could sign 3 or 4 foreign players. The main reason for the lack of emphasis on it is the fact that the domestic window is currently the only window open. However I don't believe Henderson to be overrated, personally.}

17 Jun 2011 16:52:57
i think adam, downing and enrique will sign within the next week or so. wickham to sign after u21's championship

17 Jun 2011 16:52:22
A Johnson is to meet with comolli in Manchester tommorrow, with liverpool prepared to offer 20m for his services. Johnson is said to be eager as he believes liverpool are going to be a big force in the coming seasons and he believes he can be a big part of it. Also he will play almost every game at left wing.

This will be my last post under this name. I may or may not post again. However I find it ironic how I'm being bullyed off the site by haters with no sense of humour for apparently being a bully. I thought the
" ;) jkz " was a hint i wasn't being serious. Apparently not. Sorry again if I offended you. I'm not a nasty person. Guess Banter should be changed to "Liverpool Civil Discussions"... Theres an idea Eds ;) In memory of:

P.S. Like to thank Blair in particular and Ed1 and Ed2, you guys are my personnal favourite posters. Even If I did have my differences with Blair at the start ;) We both rose above the BANTER!!! {Ed002's Note - I think we will just end the thread with this. hey eds hope its going good

but this is just a thought if aquilani meireles and agger all do go thats about 35 million and then take away all the other crap which might only add to about 10 million but would be 100s of thousands in wages it wouldnt make any possible sense unless there were either (A) 12ish average signings which i doubt maybe 3-4 but (B) maybe 5-6 top players 2 of which being youth (Henderson, Wickham) and 2 being a cb and Adam

then for the other 4 id be surprise if 3 werent top players where we need them (Mata, Carzolla, Cissokho) then the last being a top cb (sakho) or just the first 3... if u do a few calculations which i have done on the estimated wages of the players going out against in we would still be paying similar wages weekly possibly saving 50k depending if we get rid of evryone and how much more we will pay players then what theyre on now and mayb 35-40 million in transfers... its only a thought but there has been a bit of time put into it and would love the ed's oppinions

hi ed mareauvx is almost done so i reckon we should go for a left back next or another winger like downing but if we sign downing and mauveax were will dirk kuyt play will he be on the bench cant wait for next season ynwa

ROEY RED {Ed009's Note - Kenny wants Dirk to play up top next season, and thats a decision I definitely concur with. This is based on no more than inkling but I believe out left back will be a European signing and so won't be for a week or two yet.}

Has anyone else heard that Dale Jennings of Tranmere is being looked at by Bayern Munich? Apparently he was once with us as a youth player but has now broken through to the first team at Tranmere this past year. Can't say I watch the Rovers much but looking at Youtube he looks quite a player. Yes I know you could make Babel look a world beater on Youtube but Jennings has scored some genuine wonder goals that evidence a talent worthy of playing at a higher level - hence the Bayern interest.

My question is are we really going to let a talent in our backyard be scooped up by a foreign team. I am sure Jennings would choose us over Bayern if given the choice. Ed001 d'you know of any interest?

Anfield Rapstar {Ed001's Note - he is not that good mate, he is a bit of a poor trainer as well, hence his release.}

Adam,

I'm 100% Irish mate & very patriotic, but i didn't see your joke!
If you have the decency to come back on & apologise for whatever may have caused someone offence - i applaud ya & fully believe you when you say you meant it as a joke!
Don't worry about it!

Us Irish have been laughed at for years & can take a joke - but it's a sensitive subject with a lot of us (including me) if we're mocked which is clearly different.
I can't think of another country that is mocked as much (except America, who are undeserving of the mockery also might i add) or stereotyped for that matter & yet i don't understand why it is so.
We (Irish) have caused no harm to anyone yet we get flak???!!
If both countrie's people are guilty of anything, it's of being too nice in my opinion!

I'm not going to be dragged into a debate on the subject with anyone either so if someone wants to have a go at me about what i believe - there will be no reply from my side as i couldn't be bothered.
Cheers,
Irish Kev. {Ed001's Note - I think the Polish might disagree with your post, they are the butt of numerous jokes about being stupid just about everywhere else in the world.}

look ED i understand if you dont post this but hey what the hell, people need to get over themselves whats happened have we all lost are sense of humour.

People try to remember its only june! theres 2 and a half months of the transfer window left to get rid of the dead wood and bring in some quality. I think if adam does come he could suprise a few people and i think Henderson is the real deal, he's a fantastic signing. If the owners, Kenny and Comolli think marveaux is worth that sort of contract I trust them. I'm sure we have more fantastic signings in the pipeline we don't know about yet so keep the faith! I really hope the rumours of Zapata are true as he would be an excellent signing. Remember this is a project and we're a team on the up, look at the progress we've made since january! Lets stick by our new signings, Kenny and the owners know what they're doing. Excellent site Ed's, keep up the good work!

How are all the ed's today?

Seems like i have missed all the blonde irish drama! Poor Adam got slated, bless the lad take it on the chin! A new name in the frame today could be Khouma Babacar of Fiorentina, as we look to miss out on Muniain. Comolli and Dalglish want a young understudy for Carroll and Suarez and have shortlisted Babacar as a viable option. He would be less than half Muniains transfer cost as Babacar is rated £11m. You may not have heard much about this one but what are your thoughts on the player?

Adzii {Ed009's Note - I think the player has a lot of potential, but I don't know of interest from LFC at the minute. I'm good thanks, and the other Ed's are their charming selves as well! I hope we can move on from Adam's comments too. There was no malicious intent involved and he is never aggressive to anywhere on here unlike the small number of others.}

more anti-irish remarks !! (sorry my family are part irish).LIVERPOOL FC never won anything without irish players and they never will. we still have a huge amount of real fans that travel week in and week out to see the reds you could also do well in looking at irish players for the future chelsea have clifford utd always bring a few players in every season its something that has not happend of late ?

Aternoon Ed's, first post on here.

Slightly concerned that we're not going in the right direction. £20 million on henderson and still waiting to see what his natural attributes are (posts from sunderland fans glads to see him go & the present u21's performances not doing much to wet the appetite). Who is he seen to be the natural replacement for??

Also with all the central midfielders we currently have -why would we want to sign adam?? - gave the ball away far too much last season (average sized fish in a tiny blackpool pond). Surely players such as ever benega or javi martinez would bring more quality than Adam ?

also - ?? Marveaux to sign a five year deal at £60k per week?? (i thought that NESV policy was going to be for youth and value??)

Soto having the option of another 12 months?? dont get me wrong when Woy was in charge - he was one of the few that showed real spirit on the pitch - but dont think he's up to the standards where we want to be??

and still praying for news on the rapid departures of poulsen, ngog, degen, el zhar, cole, konchesky and the like are not forthcoming??

I was over the moon when KK came back but somethings just not resting right with the rumours (and i know theyre only rumours - but I guess i'm looking for a bit of positivity and encouraging signs that we're going to have a team to get back to where we truely belong.

Fantastic site by the way guys - you should be proud of the service of what you have given to the public - totally addictive- THANKS,

Ives the red.

Norman Stanley Ashley Young, you have pleaded guilty to the charges of money grabbing brought by this court and it is now now my duty to pass sentence.
You are an habitual showboater, who accepts being substituted as an occupational hazard, and presumably accepts imprisonment in the same casual manner.
We therefore feel constrained to permit you to the maximum term allowed for these offences.
You will go to the prison of Cold Trafford for 5 years.

ed, can u tell me why so many players are targeted by malaga..there not exactly a top side in la liga yet many players we are linked with are also linked with malaga..have they got new investment?? james grove {Ed001's Note - they were bought by their very own oil sheikh.}

I really hope that it is both, what a great statement of intent that would be. Especially after all the rumours about Blackpool accepting an offer from Tottenham. I think Adam will be an integral part of our success next year, due to his range of passing and ability to find that killer final pass, something which the current Liverpool Line-up lacks.

Killer final pass... Gerrard? Suarez?

I know Oyston maybe stalling, but I have a theory that Henderson may have been instead of Adam. After pushing for Adam in Jan and then things moving, so slow now.

Course Macca's wrong saying we're not looking abroad.Thats exactly what he said, no if's no buts even ed1 disagreed.Not got nothing against him but i'll say from what i've read on this site.Where are Benzema, and Young, things nailed on but plays the things change in football card.Why try and predict who we're gonna sign in summer if things change so much.I was on the fence over him for a long time but with the players he said are coming, Downing, Adam etc, anyone cause have read a paper and named them.No mention of Henderson or that were interested in Zappa.Give it mate, educated guess's like most of us.Your gonna get one right sooner or later.If ya think Macca's for real agree, if you think he takes an educated guess disagree.Nothing against him but dont think if's got any inside info and if he has they dont tell him much news that most of us knew already. P.s Ed's have you ever thought about making a football rumour app for iphone? it would be amazing. {Ed009's Note - I think it would be a great idea too, but I don't believe it is in the pipeline any time soon. I'll work on the others...}

==========================
was thinking this myself ed009
got a new iphone and although i use it to go on this site its not the best. a simplified version on an app would be brilliant. it would save us all a lot of time logging onto our laptops or scrolling through millions of posts on our iphones.
let us all know if it ever gets the nod.
mikey {Ed001's Note - I will try and get one made for Android as well in the future, as soon as we get the chance. It is just hard work finding the time and running the site. Especially when I am having to waste my time checking up to make sure people are not pretending to be someone else all the time. Thankfully I was able to get in touch with the real Phil Neal and ascertain that the guy posting and signing his name as Phil was not really him, unlike his claims last night. My apologies to the real one for interrupting his round of golf, I know how golfers hate be distracted when they are playing around with their balls!}

Not directly relating to Liverpool but a couple of our aledged targets and Joe Cole:

Skysports.com understands Stoke City have opened negotiations regarding a deal for Scott Dann. Aston Villa, Arsenal and Liverpool are also reported to be interested in the Birmingham defender.

Sky Bet: We've seen money for Joey Barton to join Arsenal and have consequently cut his price to 1/2. There's also been big money for Joe Cole to join Tottenham at short odds.

Just thought i'd share what was on skysports news, although I know that betting odds doesnt mean that the transfer is 'nailed on'.

Just read on NESN that we're interested in cassano and cazorla is there any truth in this? I don't think cassano woud be a good signing his best years are behind him nd he's had trouble at teams in the past. I haven't seen cazorla play so I don't av an opinion on him {Ed002's Note - They are simply newsfeed being picked up.}

"Kyrgiakos signed a new 12 month contract? Thought we were shipping out deadwood. Opinion eds? {Ed002's Note - It rather depends on what the management team consider "deadwood".}"

Surely, we've gone over this a thousand times since it was announced yesterday - he triggered a clause in his contract by playing a certain number of games! IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A LACK OF AMBITION, OR DALGLISH BEING AN IDIOT. Excuse the capitals, but again people are doing my head on here - this has been posted by about 50 people in 12 hours. Don't they check the days posts before they choose to post negativity? Here's a tip when it comes to reading a article on the internet or newspaper....read the whole of the article rather than just the headline. Because, any question you have will invariably be answered in the main body of the text - it's not difficult, and it saves us having to read the same question/statement over and over again.

Bob - there is a Manx (Isle of Man) football team but its not the best so I doubt you were referring to that. Please do not refer to Manchester United as 'Manx' this is highly offensive to Liverpool supporters from the Isle of Man. I therefore kindly ask you to please be more careful with your choice of reference in future.

i think we could get 75-80 points this season
but to do that we need a few more signings. but as we are not in the champs leauge and europa cup i think. we will get top 4.

team to miss out on the top 4 could be arsenal or mancity. but thinking arsenal because they dont like spending money

what do you think ed {Ed009's Note - I agree. If we make a few more signing we should make top four, at the expense of Arsenal in my opinion.}

Has anyone read the Marveaux stats. Not very impressive. It took him years to get into Rennes first team after graduating from its acadamy. Rennes are in division 2. He's had a handful of U21 caps. No Senior French caps and at 25 years of age if its not yet happened its not looking likely. Whats going on? The Greek gets a one year extension which would suggest we're struggling to attract a centre half. No sign of any quality wingers, its unlikely Downing will sign if Young goes. Hazard, Elia and Sanchez no chance, so we're back to bargain basement in Marveaux and possibly Nzogbia. Henderson silly money considering that Modric may go for circa £25mill. Man City in for Lavezzi, more quality bites the dust. Utd may yet sneak in for Adam. Jeffren looks modest but of course he's 20 so worth £25 mill in FSG's eyes. I really don't see the sense in FSG's transfer model of buying in young players at a premium as they may hold latent value. Well the latent value will only be realised if Liverpool are successful. This could take quite a few years to come to fruition and ultimately in the mean time the quality we have will no doubt leave and we'll be even further away from attracting the big names and ensuring the revenu to pay for the big names. The jury is still out for me on Carroll due to his eratic character and off the pitch behaviour and some of the players we're being linked with will not provide a drastic improvement over what we already have.

17 Jun 2011 14:09:53
I agree with the Eds. Can we please have an Aguero-free weekend ? LFC will not sign Aguero.
Also, Zapate has previous form about saying he is moving to EPL. Last time it was Arsenal 2 years ago - sounds like new contract negotiating at Udinese..

Macca is not wrong when he says we are not looking at players outside prem league. But it is more an issue of timing. 'Right now the focus is on prem league.' However, we will bring in players from outside.

The strategy is that we should have english players who will also link up at national level...look at barcelona and the spanish team. The aim of kk and DC is to create that bedrock and also to develop the youth process.

But the inside view is also that the current depth of talent and creativity is lacking in local lads and hence there will be additions from outside with an aim of not just raising the standard of our team but also exposing the younger lot to a higher standard.

In short there will be a balance between long term and current priorities which necessitate talent acquisition, again not restricted to prem league.

There will be atleast two signings from outside prem league and these will be 'marquee' in a sense. Serious talks are on for 7 players, some of whom have found mention and some of them will be a surprise. This is the strike rate for acquiring 2 players. the key thing is they have to be willing (players).

Thats all for now!
cheers!

Any info on this thanks

I like Zapata but lots of players, agents and chairmen claim we're interested all the time and nothing comes from most of them. The club will tell us when there is anything to know and i for one will support who ever that is.

Ok, I thought id put together a small scout report on zapata since there's a lot of people asking about him and I end up watching a lot of udinese, fiorentina and milan ganes due to my sources at the clubs.

Strengths: physically strong and an excellent reader of the game. He is comfortable on the ball and willing to bring the ball out. His distribution is good and always seems to makr good decions.

Weaknesses: slow, and a tendancy to make rash challenges.

Mental: quiet and reserved off the pitch and lead by example on it.

Think agger playing style with beckham mentality

Hope this was helpful. I don't expect him to sign since everyone at udinese has been surprised by what the player has said

THIS IS HUGE!!

I've just come back from cruiseing around town on my Honda 50, visor up of course, I was just rolling around and impressing the ladies when I seen some crazy one armed man waving his arm about and shouting my name, I ignored the bloke at first but he was persistant so I pulled in at the side of the road, he ran over to me and to my astonishment I noticed that this man was infact me from the future, his hair was grey and he had a bit of a belly on him but without doubt it was me, he told me he had sent himself back to warn me of a freak accident involving me, a moped and an elephant that would cause me to lose my arm and not thirty seconds later a parade advertising a circus that has just arrived in town walked by, guess what was part of the parade? A big Indian elephant, I was totally shocked and as soon as the parade went by my future selfs arm reappeared out of thin air, naturally my future self was delighted his plan had worked and he had both arms again he was so happy that he agreed to asnswer any 3 questions I asked him, so I asked who did Liverpool sign the year I lost my arm? His answer, Sergio Aguero, Juan Mata and Charlie Adam plus the ones we all know already, my second question was will Liverpool be successfull under Kenny? He told me we will win the Champions League final in Wembley 2013 and finally I asked him is my mate Barry a poof? He is so my other mate Lenny owes me £50 for a bet we had about it. So if I were you I would get down the bookies and place some bets, I know this sounds unbelievable but it is 100% true, I NEVER lie.

How come when a top class player comes out and says he's close to joining us after Copa America, Zappata i'm talking about that people say that its for from done or has a long way to go before/if he signs.If he'd have said on the radio that he'd be joining Utd, Chelsea or City, his word would be taken as gospel and it'd just be a matter of time till he joins.Bulls**t if yot ask me. i hope we get a left back left and right winger

+we henderson marveaux zapata on the way.?
that should be enough no need to buy more we have some youngsters to be given a chance

clichy
shelvey
henderson
lucas
meirreles
spearing
gerrard
marveaux

thats a very strong squad.
cole, maxi, jovanovic, poulsen aqua ngog degen ect can all leave.
i think 80mil total spending but we will recover 30mil, so thats not that bad.
i believe we can win the league next season i really do

ed? {Ed009's Note - Zapata is a very sturdy centre defender who would be a quality signing in my opinion. Kyriagkos only got a new contract as it was enforced by the amount of first team appearances he made last season.}

If we sell meireles i will (to put it bluntly) be extremely narked!! I know he shirked tackles and was off pace at the start of his spell but after a brief settling in period he quickly became a fantastic imaginative midfielder, i actually rate him very highly and believe that to sell him this early into his transition from a poor league to the epl would be disasterous for us. I truly hope this is all gumf as is the majority of stuff i keep reading. as far as i am aware WE are a team in the midst of a rebuilding process, why on earth would we want to sell a player who on average was our most productive midfielder last season?? makes no sense at all.

KEEP THE GOOD PLAYERS, SELL THE UNDERPERFORMING PLAYERS. simple? or am i missing something EDS?

In Cristian Zapata's very own words.

"I have gained experience, but the time has come for me to make the jump to a big team."

Let this be heard by all the people out there who think that missing out on the champs league means you're no longer a big team, Udinese are playing CL this coming season, and this goes to show that players truly see LFC as a big club still. A lot of our so called supporters underestimate the power of this club, we are liverpool, one of the biggest clubs on the planet, and whether you choose to believe it or not, we are still seen as the benchmark that a player wants to strive for. The only thing that missing CL football affects is revenue, thus damaging our ability to pay higher transfers and wages, but the club is still viewed as "a big club" worldwide

El fuego del mundo.

Hello all,

I think we should all relax on rumours/shooting down rumours.

Clearly, LFC has a huge list of players they are looking at per position. They would try to go down the list of preferences and if things dont work out, they move on to the next one until they are satisfied with the number of players they get.

For example, we prob have:

Cm
Henderson
Adam
Gago

And wingers
Mata
Young
Downing
Johnson
Carzola

Or something of that sort and if we miss out on say young (whom we have), we would target the next in line.

OK, seeing as some of these players are just coming out of the blue, i'm gonna just throw a few names out there.

James Rodriguez - LW - Porto
Miralem Sulejmani - LW/ST - Ajax
Jordi Alba - LW - Valencia
Anthony Stokes - Celtic - ST

best thing we can hope for is city getting Sanchez, they will stop the pursuit of mata leaving us by far the strongest contenders for his signing and would leave to door open for adam johnson who i rate more than ashley young, Stewart downing and any other english winger for that matter

In reply to the post @ 12:19:56 about Stevie G, here's a recent quote he made:

It s a really positive signing, Gerrard said. Let s hope he is the next Steven Gerrard.

Liverpool needs a new Steven Gerrard and it will need a new Jamie Carragher. That s what good football clubs do they replace their best players.

I saw Jordan at first hand for two or three days with England and he is a good player with energy.

Sounds like he's impressed to me. So stop with the rubbish that he's on his way and do some research.

Pls post in rumours.

I have heard that Zapata is interested in a move to Liverpool and so are we. I know he is a good fullback and could well sort out our LB problem, but i've also heard that he is injury prone. Could you shine some light on the subject?

Hey guys , seen allot of people asking about Lloyd Jones the signing from Plymouth Argyle if hes any good.

Well since early January i joined the coaching staff at Plymouth to help out Reidy due to the clubs financial situation a lot of staff left because the clubs in severe debt which has meant the staff aren't being paid.

And what iv'e seen of the lad he looks like a decent young prospect.

He's about 6"2 quite fast , strong, good composure and very good at positioning himself.

He had options from Arsenal , Fulham and Everton.

He asked me on what i advised and of course i advised him to join king kenny, he seems like a decent lad who's not in it for the money, now with kenny's guidance am sure he can become a quality player.

Thanks.

Phil.

Nothing wrong with calling the greek, the greek! Throughout my playing days and travels I was called "taffy" simply for being welsh. Nothing racist in it at all.

Its not like they called me the ape, the monkey or the spear chucker so calling SK the Greek is nothing. SK is also similar to that of a Greek God / Warrior...he is enormous and powerful and his wig blows in the wind.

If you feel its bordering on racism then your a fool.

ED, if Marveaux can keep fit fitness he may well turn into a very useful addition. His best quality is that he can run with the ball with pace and has composure to lay the ball off at the right time. This will give KK an option which we don't currently have. When we are trying to stretch the game particularly in the last 30 minutes of a match bringing on a speed merchant can be of great effect. Lets hope that he can be a Craig Johnson Mark II and Adam can be a Jan Molby Mark II. Reality Red

Hi Eds, I apologise in advance if this has already been asked, but what do you make of all this specualtion surrounding Inter Milan, with regards to the swap deal for Raul Mereiles and Samuel Eto'o plus cash? It sounds like complete garbage to me, but thought i'd check anyway!
Hooch. {Ed001's Note - I have no inside info regarding it but it sounds nonsensical to me as well. It is just based on Eto'o saying he wants to play in England.}

17 Jun 2011 12:04:11
Sylvain Marveaux is an absolute hidden gem and we would be lucky to have him so the people chatting he nood enuff are making satements without even seeig him play unbeliveble and u know ur making statement u dont even have a clue about this kid is class and i hope no one tries to steal im

"Kyrgiakos signed a new 12 month contract? Thought we were shipping out deadwood."

I beleieve it was the greek that activted the xtension not the club. Must have been written into his contract that if HE chose to he could xtend it. rare but not unheard of.

Kyrgiakos signed a new 12 month contract? Thought we were shipping out deadwood. Opinion eds? {Ed002's Note - It rather depends on what the management team consider "deadwood".}

Totally agree, he is very good against the more physical teams like Stoke, Blackburn etc

His experience is also important and as the ED said deadwood is a very subjective term.

Liverpool are still thought to be leading the chase to sign Antonio Cassano although no bid has been made for the striker who is thought to be available for around £10m.
-------------------------------------------------

Mate i seriously advise you not to listen to the papers anymore more now we are doing things the Liverpool way, it will only depress you.

Jay Bothroyd - Absolute nonsense a complete no go take no notice.

Antonio Cassano - Again a player kenny has no intentions in signing, hes a troublemaker and on top of that he will have a hefty price-tag atleast 15m.

Thanks.

Phil.

Just a quick point.
the signing of c.adam and Marveaux are certain.
the rest are unknown, i know what my wish list would be, but thats dreaming.
kk-dc have identifyed certain targets some will just be a matter of testing the water some genuine, i believe Macca about transfers but even he aint in at the negotiating table so anything could go wrong.
i have no doubt after these two signings we will have a lot more follow but we must start to realize lots of bad players to sell aswell, the more money made the better the marque signing will be
all i say
believe in kk-dc
believe in liverpool football club
believe in macca and ed's
we are moving forward and thats what we all want this is the best position we have been in for a long while
so sit back grab a beer chill out and go with the flow feel the rush

Hi guys just a update on a few things I've picked up.

Jay Bothroyd - Absolute nonsense take no notice.

Antonio Cassano - Again complete and utter nonsense to much of a troublemaker for Kennys liking.

Jon s Guti rrez - Most definitely not a player kenny will be interested in i can 100% assure you.

Juan Mata - From what I've been told his dad is very keen on him to join Liverpool as he believes it's the best place for his son to progress, however if Manchester city fail to sign Alexis Sanchez they will go all out on Juan Mata.

Adam Johnson - We have spoken in depth to Manchester city and kenny himself has spoken to adam, city seem to be prepared to let him come to us but only if they can land Alexis Sanchez or Juan Mata.

Charlie Adam - I completely agree with what that macca guys been saying he is 100% nailed on , he's told karl Oyston he wants to come to Liverpool, Karl Oyston promised him in January he would not stop him but to hold it out until the summer to try and keep Blackpool up , now he didnt get his own way it looks like he's gonig to make this drag on for a while.

Scott Dann - Wants to move to Liverpool Iv'e heard we are very interested seems as though Stoke and Newcastle are very interested which could hike the price up though.

Jose Enrique - looks as though he will be our left-back around 10-12m.

Thanks.

Phil.

This idea of tradition and the first ever kit being blue squares.
I have no idea when we switched to red tops.
But this club was re-made into the world name it is today by Bill Shankly. We became all red, "like a fire burning".
That is tradition. The one we should never forget.
Never mind sponsors, marketing, revenue, 3rd kits.
Shankly was a red man.
Consign the blue hint to the dustbin.

*This is not a rumour*

We are closing in on our targets, & expect a couple of players to sign, who havent had a mention in the press/ media.
cb: C.Zapata 12m
lb. D.Aogo 7m
cm. C.Adam 8m
lw. S.Marveux 0m
rw/ st. B.Ruiz 9m
st. W.Zaha 2m

We will sign J.McCarthy from Wigan for 8.5m, but he will stay with Wigan for another season, as part of the deal.

Kent Brockman

Someone said Zapata was never mentioned.. Kent was there first.. Just like the Simpsons character; first with the news..... Kinda! ha

How can it be racist to call someone " The Greek"??
We all call him that week in week out! I agree with Ed002. The Greek will be a decent squad member for another year. Gives 100%, lunges in at times but decent a set plays! YNWA

hello ed(s) great site i cant help but look atleat 2 or 3 times a day. anyway on the liverpool site its saying Marveaux is nearly a done deal but i see nothing on telly about this but i can guarantee if it united or for some reason spurs (who sky sports seem to love along with untied) it would be top story, it realy winds me up with the basis media!
thanks

i think it would be a huge mistake if liverpool get Jay Bothroyd - in my eyes David ngog is a better player with more potential. Yes we should sell him too. Only strikers i think we need to get at the club is Bojan - the boy will be unreal and See if we can get llorente too

Sylvain marveaux
cristian zapata
antonio cassano

Ed's do you know much about these 3? are they even any good for lfc? ive never heard of them.

Holy s**t, where did this Zapata talk come from, he's a very good player to be honest, but i never thought we'd be linked with him. Well i never heard of any link between LFC and the player, i really hope it's true now, very complete player IMO.

17 Jun 2011 11:16:51
Surley this is 100% lies but i have just recieved a txt off a fellow red who believes it to be a bulls**t rumour himself but i will post it and see if anyone else has heard it as you know how fast txts get round liverpool.
"somebody who knows gerrards family is saying that stevie's hip is rubing bone on bone and his career could be over but liverpool are keeping it quite".
sounds like a bluenose has started this, especially after stevie g said only last week how gud a shape he was in.

17 Jun 2011 11:15:41
Leave the new kit alone !! It is lush for a third kit and tradition. Who cares if it has a small blue stripe that ..... IS NoT EVEN EVERTON BLUE !!! stop crying about it. And this Eto rumour is stupid ! Just started.by a fan that had a thought on a good swap :L he will most likely be city bound and with regards to carzola and Mata that would be one hell of a midfield and better than downing and marveux so have marveux as backup and the two Spanish guys ! That's my personal view anyway sorry about getting funny about.it but its true. Cheers

I know it's a computer somewhere (probably in Hell)
that draws out the fixtures but......
Liverpool play Arsenal, Spurs, Everton in first 7 games all away......
Utd play Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea in first 5 games all at home.......

Their jammy as usual but looking forward to what we will do :-)

Eds, why do u keep saying that Cavani is only on loan at Napoli when this story from Goal.com clearly states otherwise? Are you wrong or is this article from july last year wrong. Its also on other football websites, so either you are wrong or all the other websites are wrong?!?!

Jul 17, 2010 6:25:00 PM

Edinson Cavani is officially a new Napoli player after completing a 17m switch from Palermo.

"I signed with Napoli. I am very happy, it's a new adventure, " Cavani announced to Stadionews.

"I'd like to say thanks to [Aurelio] De Laurentiis (Napoli president) and [Maurizio] Zamparini (Palermo president) I hope that Palermo's supporters will understand me.

"I am sorry if the Palermo fans hate me after having made the switch but I will always hold a place in my heart for them.

"Being a professional sometimes you are required to make certain choices. I wanted a change of scenery and the club new it was time to find sell me on."

Napoli president De Laurentiis explained that the transfer fee will be spread over a number of years. Of the 17m, 5m will be paid now and 12m will be paid over the next four years. {Ed001's Note - I have never said he is on loan anywhere, as far as I am aware he signed a permanent deal towards the end of a loan spell.}

17 Jun 2011 10:53:38
so, the picture is becoming slightly clearer today
IN's
Marveaux is being reported as arriving at melwood for a medical.
Zapata is close to signing
If a bid for Donkey Downing fails next week we will approach Man City for Adam Johnson or go for Honda
Possible forwards being linked are Cassano, P-C Young or Bothroyd (??)

so that just leaves the question of Mata, Adam and Cazorla

OUTs
Krgyaytissasafjk has just been given a contract extension so he isn't going anywhere - is Agger?
Surely Shelvey and Spearing will go on loan if Meireles stays ? we have to fit Henderson in somewhere too

Handy Carroll

17 Jun 2011 10:53:16
just seen the fixtures for this season..apart from a tricky month of february the dates with the big teams are spread out to favour us. doesnt seem the hardest set of fixtures and uniteds look alot more tricky..just said i would give my opinion

jc red

although you're right about this being the trickiest month on paper, having big teams like spurs, utd and arsenal (1st game in march)together, this time could be the best time to play them as wouldn't this be the time that the knockout rounds in European competitions begin?

17 Jun 2011 10:53:00
hope zapata rumours are true quaility defender
**********************************

they are not rumours they are direct quotes from the actual player!

17 Jun 2011 10:50:42
{Ed002's Note - He will certainly add more than Jovanovic and he is not one to complain. Kuyt gives a lot to the team simply because of the 100% effort in every game. Marveaux can play across midfield and I think will give creative options that the club don't currently have going forward.}

I wasn't knocking Kuyt and what he gives to the team though, I just prefer him a striker... He would score a-lot if played up top.. Thanks for the details Ed.. Adam, Henderson, Marveaux & Zapata would a good start!

Just to refresh in our minds the words of the King:
"Our history and tradition makes us attractive whether we are or aren't involved in European competition. If a player thinks otherwise, we're better off without him."

Shouldn't it end all hysterical discussions regarding this or that player not coming because we are not in this or that competition?

Have been off drink for a week - sobre life equals sober thoughts.

RHI {Ed001's Note - not, it just shows that we won't offer ludicrous wages to tempt a player who doesn't want to join us because of a lack of European football.}

17 Jun 2011 10:46:29
Adam is out playin golf all day. So he wont be unveiled. To be honest, I think he will sign for Spurs {Ed001's Note - not all day, but anyway he is taking his phone with him just in case he gets the call.}

17 Jun 2011 10:45:51
Marveaux will complete transfer to us when his contract expired at 30/06/11. So LFC can't unveil him today. Right Eds ? {Ed001's Note - he can sign a pre-contract now.}

17 Jun 2011 11:05:57
Right, someone needs to clear this up, Ed could you shed some light? Why in the name of god is there even talk of meirelis leaving? Hes a great player and as far as I can see hes only going to do better next season. I mean talk of Kyrigiakos signing for another 12 months? who the F**K would take Kyrigiakos and not Meirelies? Ders at lest 10 players Id offload before mereiles. {Ed001's Note - both of these points have been discussed to death. Kyrgiakos had a clause in his contract which entitled him to an automatic one year extension if he played a certain number of first team games. He played enough and chose to trigger that extension, the club have no choice but to accept. Meireles is not a happy bunny, he is not physical enough for the league and didn't like being shunted wide last season. He is also of an age where his value will only go down, this will be the time to sell unless it is intended to keep him for a long time.}

17 Jun 2011 11:04:11
All I want to say is leave the kit alone !! It is a lush kit and its good for tradi

17 Jun 2011 11:03:52
I've been trying to find out as much as i can about Zapata as i can. Not alot out there about him other he was named in the italian league team of the year at centre back where he is a good organsier at the back and a good reader of the game and is strong in the tackle. Which leads me to believe he is slow after reading between the lines.
Liverpool need a quick centre back to help out Carra, not another slow centre back. The club already have enough with Skertle and the Greek. Only Agger has a bit of pace and he is missing half the season. I really hope Kelly moves to centre back this season.

Basil

17 Jun 2011 10:58:26
with all the hints of a signing showing has anybody been spotted at melwood ed? who do you think it is? {Ed001's Note - my bet would be Marveaux.}

hey edsk, not much being said not eto wanting to play in england. you think there is any chance in liverpool being interested in him. maybe money and Raul Meireles. what you think? {Ed001's Note - nope, why would we be interested in him?}

17 Jun 2011 10:42:10
Just seen woodgate limping around mellwood. I think he will fit into our squad with the likes of aurelio, agger, skrtel, the greek, carroll and the rest of limp lame and lifeless. Top tip for dalglish, instead of buying overpriced crap get rid of all the rubbish and buy proven world class players ffs!

17 Jun 2011 10:38:55
Ed how does a player putting in a transfer request result in the club getting more money? {Ed002's Note - Aside from the club being able to sit back and demand what they want, I don' obviously see that it does.}

Interesting to hear about Zapater. A player i have rated for 2-3 years now, and after speaking to my source he is as suprised as i was. He was more or less in talks with Bayern but seeing as were reportedly in the driving seat, that will do me! Ive been informed to keep a eye on Scott Sinclair over the coming weeks too.

I regularly come on this site and i'm pretty sure i have never seen anyone mention Cristian Zapata's name before. Suddenly he comes out the comment '"I do not know what to say, I can say that I am very close to Liverpool, " I think this is a credit to the work DC and KK are doing behind the scenes. Although we might not like being kept in the dark about transfers, they must be doing some fantastic work. Zapata is a quality player and is very versatile so can play in many positions. I expect there to be a few more players which we/the press dont know about coming out that they are 'close to signing for liverpool' over the summer.

17 Jun 2011 10:30:21
What is wrong with the new kit? I sit here day after day listening to your bleatings about the traditions and the history of LFC and then you slaughter the club for bringing out a good looking kit which is based on TRADITIONAL and HISTORICAL colours. Another thing ED's is it PC that you are letting people call Sotirios Kyrgiakos The Greek? Were not calling Reina the Spaniard or DC the Frenchman or Henderson the Englishman..It's bordering on racist if you ask me. Thought i'd point it out probably gonna get a whole days worth of abuse on the back of this post anway...Jari_L {Ed002's Note - How can it be racist to refer to someone by their nationality. I have no problem being called "The American". I suspect he is referred to as "The Greek" because folks have trouble spelling his name. If you truly believe that to be racist then it is simply ignorance on your part.}

-------------------
The problem I have with the new kit is not only the everton blue, but the fact that clearly it is to show standard charter's logo how it normally appears, and then tell us it's a hark back to tradition.

Bill shankly would be appalled.

17 Jun 2011 10:20:50
King Kenny and DC are playing a blinder. Zapata is a class act and if they have managed to sneak an agreement under the radar, it really shows that we are doing business the right way.
The smoke screen of Dann, Cahill, Lovren, Sakho, etc. just puts other clubs off the scent. I know sometimes the selling club will publicise a deal but that depends on their situation and whether they want a bidding war. Shows some class from both clubs if things get done without much media knowledge. If the deal is almost sealed, it shows that we will only deal with professional clubs (Word of warning Owen Oyster) as both Udinese and Sunderland have made very little of the offers made.
Would be nice to see a couple more deals done in a similar manner. Shows the solidarity at the club too if even Macca wasn't able to find out about this one.
Fingers crossed for a few more surprises.
On the rumour front, has anyone else heard about the situation with Valbuena ? Heard we had made enquiries but Marseille seem keen to hold on to him. Played very well against us a couple of years back can play a few positions.

Oct 1: Everton (a)
Oct 15: Man United (h)

Wow Everton and Utd in 1 week; wait whats that it happens twice in a season. Nice to see fairness in the fixtures again, rolls eyes

Feb 4: Tottenham (h)
Feb 11: Man United (a)
Feb 25: Everton (h)

Udinese Zapata close to argeeing deal with liverpool. Defender looks like we wont be signing dann or cahill! Another surprise signing if it happens, I am starting to think that lfc are playing games with all us trying to get inside info haha gotta love it

This is my thoughts exactly on our transfer targets. It has already been said that LFC operate behind closed doors these days and any transfer links are pure speculation until something from the club is announced. For certain posters to state that they think no signings from abroad will be made, although is their opinion, seems strange as we are eliminating a wide range of talent. I for one would like British talent but it needs to be complimented with the best from abroad that still have the will to want to play for the club. I think it is evident that a lot of foreign players bring something different to that of a British player and a team with both in would in my opinion have a better chance to succeed.

We don't know who we are signing but for some posters to come on and be down and depressed about our state of affairs at this time of the summer is crazy. Give Kenny and Comolli the chance to get the players in! Then give those players a chance to play before we condemn.

On Zapata though...would be a great signing IMO.

Hi EDs. Thank you for a great site. I've also read this article at bold.dk, which stated that Zapata has proclaimed, that h is on the verge of signing with Liverpool. Exciting signing In my opinion. What do you think ed? Rubbish or true? Good or bad signing? {Ed001's Note - it comes from the player himself, so I would like to think he would know what he is talking about! Good or bad signing? Another thing ED's is it PC that you are letting people call Sotirios Kyrgiakos The Greek? Were not calling Reina the Spaniard or DC the Frenchman or Henderson the Englishman..It's bordering on racist if you ask me. Thought i'd point it out probably gonna get a whole days worth of abuse on the back of this post anway...Jari_L {Ed002's Note - How can it be racist to refer to someone by their nationality. I have no problem being called "The American". I suspect he is referred to as "The Greek" because folks have trouble spelling his name. If you truly believe that to be racist then it is simply ignorance on your part.}

-------------------------------------------------------

People like you are the origin of the term "political correctness gone mad". Be careful, ignorrance often leads to hatred

The first two fixtures for Liverpool promise to be very exciting:

LIVERPOOL vs. SUNDERLAND
ARSENAL vs. LIVERPOOL.

Zapata's agent has told him to come out and say he is close to signing for Liverpool so he can attract more suiters and turn it into a public auction. If this happens then KK will look elsewhere. Dann is now on the back burner until the Brummies get a new manager. If Zapata or Dann do sign then Agger's spot is looking a bit dodgy.

My take on things.

as we take on hendo's old club @ anfield,

can u give me a list of players that u think may join, cheers eds {Ed001's Note - nope, as I keep saying the only news coming out is from the other end. So I know of certain clubs we have had closely monitored and deduce which player/s we were likely to be watching and put them forward as probables. Hey lfc fans.....

I trully believe liverpool might buy a handful of decent players from the premiership with experience in order to boost our squad size, and then when the transfrer window opens...we will go after our targeted QUALITY players if its possible.

So I think everyone should relax because liverpool need 2 squads in this league to be successful and the name rumoured around can ONLY boost the squad an numbers..
We all saw we were down to the bare bones last season.

17 Jun 2011 09:21:58
Apparently Cristian Zapata said he's close to joining Anfield nxt season.

Zapata news just like Henderson. We've linked with Dann, Cahill, Sakho and suddenly Zapata's rumor comes in.

So, maybe LFC will sign him for sure? Ed, what's your opinion about this? How much Zapata worth?

pokweLFC {Ed001's Note - I don't watch Italian football, I have no idea about this player at all, one way or the other sorry. He could be Baresi-like or Bramble-like and I wouldn't know.}

heard German Champions Dortmund are willing to let Barrios go on his way to Liverpool for £17mil. Nicknamed 'The Panther', he scored 19 goals in 33 games.

Watch this space.
___________________________________

I wouldnt go with the number of goals scored in Bundesliga. The defence there is generally horrendous save some of the top teams. I think Barrios is a good player at most. There is really nothing to be excited about, even if this rumour is true.

Cheers,

Udinese defender Cristian Zapata has revealed that he is close to agreeing a deal with Liverpool.

This will be another excellent singing if we get him. A very versatile defender that can play in any position along the back line. DC & KK must be working hard behind closed doors. Keep it going going boys.

17 Jun 2011 08:31:54
Hi Ed,

Has anyone who posts on this site recently mentioned Zapata before today? if so, what else have they said?

seems to me that if someone got this one correct, they would seem to have true inside knowledge.

RedJon {Ed001's Note - no one got this one, but no one truly has an inside line to the club any more. The leaks are always coming from outside of Anfield these days. So it would need someone inside Udinese to find it out!}

The press have less of an idea of the players we are likely to sign than my daughter sat playing FIFA!}

I found out before that we are definitely interested in taking not just Enrique but also Jonas Gutierrez from Newcastle. It's from a very reliable source, and to say the least I'm not overwhelmed. Tentative enquiries only at this stage though.

I found out before you because I read it somewhere else as well! I hope we can TAKE them because it would save us a lot of money!!

Meireles maybe leave and we will sign Charlie Adam to replace him.

Stevie already has replacement if he's injured, Henderson. Or maybe Henderson play next to Stevie.

Poulsen will leave and that leave Lucas with to competitor to DMF position. That's why LFC need to sign another DMF. Im sure DC already short list candidate for DMF like Matuidi, Gago, Banega etc. I prefer Gago to challenge Lucas for that position.

Left winger we got Marveuax and maybe Juan Mata/Vargas/Cazorla.

Right winger we got Kuyt and maybe Downing.

We gonna get better LB for next season with less injury record. Maybe Clichy/Enrique/Cissokho.

Central defence we got Cara, Agger, Skrtel. Carra's old and Agger injury prone which leave only Skrtel to play almost every game. So, that'w why we need another good CB. Maybe Dann/Cahill/Kjaer/Sakho..

So far;
Henderson= 18- 5M(Ngog) = 13M
Sylvain Marveaux = FREE

Next;
Charlie Adam = 10-12M
Stewart Downing = 10-13M

17 Jun 2011 05:40:07
Eds, please post as i think people really need to know this

Ok, there are a LOT of reports that Edinson Cavani signed his permanent deal with Napoli last month, with the story ending something like "i met with edinson, and he decided to extend his contract with me and then he left for uruguay", this was the club president saying this.
Well i managed to find the entire story that i had read somewhere a few months ago, not just the snippets that were in the papers. That took a while, i almost speak fluent italian now.

But anyway, it turns out he signed a permanent deal with napoli well before the reported deal, it does not say exactly when the original deal was signed, but the player was said to be contracted through to 2015, then late last month(19th, may i believe) he signed a one year extension to carry the contract until 2016 and to emphasize his stance on staying with napoli. THIS was the deal that was very shoddily reported as the 5 year deal, so in fact he has signed 2 permanent deals with the club, totalling in 6 years and the only way he'd leave is if the club his some sort of financial wall and had to sell. But as yet the idea of LFC signing him has been based on a very misleading bit of journalism.
When isn't it?.

Cheers.

Just so people don't think it's the fault of LFC management that Raul could be leaving(i really doubt he is personally), but if he did leave, it would be because HE wants to leave, he is too good of a player to be pushed out the door.

17 Jun 2011 03:12:58
Just to clear up why Liverpool are interested in Vurnon Anita - I've been following him for a couple of years now- he can also play left back or can fill it [he hasn't done this alot thought] at Left Wing. So the interest is just because of versatility. Yes, I do rate him and can play LB really well and CM/CDM even better than that. Still though, bit too small and lightweight. If he wants to fit into the prem he needs to bulk up.

If its true that Spurs have bid for Adam when Macca had him nailed on for joining us.I've been on the fence regarding the debate about some folk reckon he just gets lucky once in a while, and others who belive he has some source of inside info.I for one will defo have lost complete faith in anything he posts. Take his latest list.I coulda picked up a paper today and seen them names he has on them.And were not looking abroad to sign players, absolute bull.Even ed1 disagreed on that.Time will tell but if Adam aint Liverpool player you've been taking educated guesses like most of us folk living in the real world do, i.e Downing is an obvious name to put on it where Aguero is not a name you'd put on because its highly unlikely he would come.If ya cant get Adam right and he signs for Utd or Spurs and then spout, things change so quick in football.Cant speak for others but i wont take any notice of ya posts having credibility anymore.Ya strikerate is terrible mate.Jonny Boy {Ed001's Note - to be fair on Adam he is just waiting on a fee to be agreed with us, he has asked to go to us. I would be shocked if he ended up anywhere but us.}

I'll leave you with this thought on The Premiership's Schizophrenia :
Man Utd - would like to be Liverpool. Of the 1980s.
Chelsea - Def do not want to be like Chelsea of the 1980s. Now Barcelona. With an English twist.
Man City - would like to be like the Harlem Globetrotters. And will pay whatever it takes to get there.
Arsenal - used to be Barcelona but now Chelsea. But on the cheap.
Everton - anyone but Liverpool. With money.
Liverpool - Liverpool. Of the King Kenny vintage. And with no sky blue flashes !
Night night all,

Problem with anything like this is the optimism about being able to sell a number of those players.

We will be lucky to get these players off the wage bill as it is, especially with players like Jovanovic asking for a £2.5m payout to let him go - so rather than pocketing £5m, we'd be out of pocket £2.5m there..

Ed's, has there been any interest in clubs on the players we're obviously looking to shift?

I read on this site about our kit being blue so I went on the Grauniad to check it out, expecting to see an Everton home shirt greeting me, and what do I see? A white shirt with a few sky blue lines! It's nothink like Everton's lad and it's a 3rd shirt after all. It's also probably brought us a bit of dosh from the sponsors if the rumours are anything to go by. KK is bringing dignity and pride back to our great club. The transfer deals will be done in private, behind closed doors - not in the media spotlight.

I for one never saw the Henderson deal coming at all but long term i feel he will be a brilliant signing. KK knows what he wants, remember Barnes, Beardsley, Houghton and Aldridge?? There were murmurs of discontent about Aldridge especially but what a team.

More of the same please.

Words by Bastien Leclair

I was asked to put together a blog regarding Rennes' Sylvain Marveaux, the Reds' long awaited Bosman signing in view of next season. While some uncertainty remains regarding his arrival at Anfield , it seems fair to say that a move to anywhere else than Merseyside would be a surprise, if not a relative upset from the part of the attacking midfielder.

So I've first thought of writing a portrait of the player, but this has already been done and you could find much information on his career, his goals, his stats or his recent difficulties in Rennes across the web. Instead, I preferred to try and put together a report on the player, providing you with the sort of information I think Liverpool fans would like to know regarding his skills, his attitude on and off the pitch, his strengths and weaknesses, and his particularities.
PHYSICAL ABILITY

He has pace, deadly pace, he is very capable of eliminating a defence on a single acceleration. He will take the ball and go through knocks and shocks to reach his target, a goal or a good pass. He can stay on his legs, no doubt about it, and although he isn't of the strongest build he shouldn't be worried with the strength of English defenders. His game made of acceleration can lead him to natural fatigue in the closing stages, but when in good shape he is perfectly able to contribute 90 minutes week-in week-out and bring his fair share of goals and assists.

In fact, his weakness lies inside. While he rarely gives up on the pitch himself, his body has been regulating things for him. He is an athlete, a powerfully legged sprinter, and his thighs have often been a strain to his progression. In summer 2008, after a good first season and a disappointing second term, he picked up a benign thigh injury during a France U21 game. Recovery should have been straightforward, but instead he met calcification issues and was forced to undergo surgery he would miss the following 8 months. Tough luck can strike anyone, true, but the same thing happened to him once again this season, and a minor thigh muscle strain against Brest in November was enough to rule him out for the rest of the current campaign.

TECHNICAL ABILITY

Are you looking for a left foot? His can do everything you could dream of. He can pass, control, dribble, deliver or shoot with surgical precision. Sylvain Marveaux has taken Ligue 1 by surprise in 2009-2010 with his ability to regulate Rennes' game, and despite his positioning on the left, he certainly was Rennes' real playmaker throughout the season. He can take free-kicks like this one, deliver assists or make the difference by himself relying on a fantastic left-foot (Video). And his ability and elegance when dribbling through an adverse defence is something one rarely sees and thoroughly enjoys

He relies nearly exclusively on his left foot however, and his right foot and head are of no use in his game. In fact, Marveaux will always look at placing the ball back on his left foot even for a simple pass, and will often lose the opportunity to deliver or build on the momentum he could have gained on his opponent. Also, Marveaux will invariably lose a challenge in the air. He hasn't got the jumping ability, the timing or the stature for those aerial contests, and he isn't usually that bothered.

INTELLIGENCE

Marveaux was trained as a central midfielder, and this is something one can very easily realise when watching him twirl across a square expanding from the left touch-line to the centre of the field. He mainly plays in a left winger position, but he isn't anything like a left winger. And although it could not quite be branded a lack of intelligence, he lacks many of the qualities required of a true winger and especially the tactical finesse required to exploit the flank with full efficiency.

While he could make the best out of his pace and skills alternating runs down the wing and cuts through to centre as a Nani or a Valencia, Marveaux is compulsively attracted to the centre, no matter what. Cutting out is certainly all right, but cutting out from the left when you only have a left foot can sometimes be a handicap. On top of this, his crossing ability is nearly inexistent, and he will always favour a central or individual solution to a transmission to his left back running up the field. The decision is sometimes justified by a scoring action (10 goals and 5 assists last season) but an ability to open eyes to options other than the obvious would be a definite added value to his game.

On the other hand, he sometimes showed an ability to pick up the perfect pass in sometimes spectacular style, and his runs without the ball are often well-inspired and making the assist an easy exercise for his team-mates. With the good guidance and advice, he could certainly correct some of the defaults above and show more of these flashes of superb vision.

ATTITUDE

Again, despite his talent and ability, Marveaux could improve loads on this field. In a 4-3-3 system such as Rennes' and in most modern tactical set-ups (In which full backs are called to play a major attacking role) defensive work is a necessity for the attacking flankers. Not only failing to notice the wing-rushes of his left-back counterpart, Marveaux has often been blamed for failing to accomplish his defensive work, whether it is an initial pressing or returns to cover the flank. As a result, great moments of solitude for the men standing behind him, such a Carlos Bocanegra, often let alone to deal with two or three opponents last season, without a hope to see his team-mate rush to his rescue.

Rennes Manager Frederic Antonetti himself admitted that Marveaux' lack of work was acceptable as long as his attacking input remained as impressive as it was last season. Many coaches could rightfully consider some of Marveaux' attitudes on the pitch as disrespectful to the team effort.

As a graduate of Rennes Academy having gone through the youth teams at the club, Marveaux may well be receiving too much indulgence for his ineffective defensive work. His self-confidence is high, maybe a bit too high, and the wise words of a manager able to make him question himself and his work for the team could be a massive boost to his career. He is able to do the work however, and even started his Ligue 1 career covering for injuries at left back. Little doubt he will give more in that field if a starting eleven position was to be at stake.

OFF THE PITCH

As far as I know, the latest former Rennes player ever to have played for Liverpool was El Hadji Diouf. No worries there. Few players bear a natural talent comparable to the Senegalese's, and I wouldn't think Marveaux' raw talent really is up to that standard, but even less players have an attitude and temper as negative as Diouf's. Sylvain Marveaux is certainly a modern football player, liking his nights out, his cars, his caps (he loves caps) and all the good things life has to offer to a wealthy young man. He has never made any headlines for wrong reasons however, nor did his brother Joris (who plays in Ligue 1 for Montpellier), and his off the pitch attitude should certainly not be any worry towards his recruitment by the Reds

Lucas Rodrigues would cost a lot more than £9m, would love to see it but I doubt it though!

Craig Bellamy - Loan

Any chance at picking up a man city reject? his loan spell and sleep shagging dreams have ended. They missed out on prem football. He did have a good season considering the standard.

The Sun claiming Manchester United chief executive David Gill has headed off to meet Udinese's owner over the signing of Chile winger Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez > wat a player.

Looks as if the best clubs in europe will be after him. Is liverpool making a bid?

Well Macca old son as a reds fan for 35+ years myself I'd be very worried if you are right and we are "offloading" the extremely talented Miereles. I trust in Kenny wholeheartidly even though I know little or nothing about Henderson & while I agree Charlie will be a great addition a part of me remains unsure, but we must leave the Hodgson
bigitery behind us, Raul is class and a match changer & a match winner & there is no way we should let him go unless he is been replaced with unquestionable talant, and just because he was one of Roy's signings( jim Boardman argued with me last year that it was Rafa who signed him) doesn't mean we should belittle him. When we are drawing 0-0 next year against spubborn opposition and we look to the bench there must be quality there, someone who can make a difference, change a game ie not a Henderson or a Lucas or a Ngog, but a sneakly little devil like Raul. Last 2 games of season when he was missing, well, lets just say we were missing him badly. Unless of course it is Raul who is looking to move on, then it's a different story.

The Reds are also considering offering a contract to forward Jay Bothroyd, who is available on a free transfer after opting to leave the Cardiff after his deal with them expired at the end of last season.

Surely not, lets just hope this stays a rumour

Nasri's agent, Alain Migliaccio, has stressed that his client is still open to an extension on his Arsenal deal. "I want to clarify that there has been no break with the Gunners over the contract renewal and we should meet again soon with Arsene Wenger, " he told calciomercatoweb. "Before listening to other teams, we need and we want to talk with Arsenal."

is he or isn't he up for sale? does he really want 150k a week to stay

>Nasri to man utd.
>hazard to arsenal
>Bale to Man city
>Adam Johnson >Liverpool
>Joe Cole >Tottenham

I would be hope something like this happens.

Bonjourno Signori, I am Antimo Iunco, I play for Torino FC in Serie B. I have always been interested in Liverpool since I was a young boy.

Now, our manager (Giampiero Ventura) knows a lot about transfers regarding Serie A (and B of course) and there was a strong rumour that Lavezzi is to join Liverpool in July.

I am afraid this is all I know and It is not 100% certain, as I said, just a rumour.

Thank you very much and I hope my English was OK (I am staying in the "Home Counties" (?) learning English at the moment).

Found this video of some of Lucas' exploits before he joined us. It's fair to say it looks like he can do a bit more than being just a holding midfielder...

Oh noooo. My wall of faith in KK has taken its first knock.... The big greek Kyrgiakos has signed an extension to his contract.......noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo lol
I suppose in a way it is dissheartening that we are being linked with Premiership Class players and not world class players, but hey....all yee Liverpool fans we have to learn to walk again before trying to fly. Which means I think KK is developing a team that will bring home a top 4 finish maybe even winning the league. Then the pressure will be on to get world class players that can make a difference. If you ask me we need to sign scouts/scouts mates mates sisters brothers dog that watches every game that can spot the talent before they make it and get them on contracts and loan back deals etc...to develop their careers. Its no good spending 50m on Neymar now when you could have had him for 7m or less a few years ago.
As much as everyone keeps going on about Aguerro...He is not that good and the money will not be worth it. He is slightly better than Suarez only due to his finishing (shooting accuracy) but thats it and to spend the obscene money on him now when we need to strengthen on other areas is silly. We were mad to spend what we did on Carroll I agree but that was a one off mad rush to get him before the window closed. We don't really need a big name striker but we do need a young player that is good enough to start (so please get rid of Ngog and possibly get in Conner or promote from within).
I would still try my damn hardest to get Arda even though he is almost an Athletico player.

Speedy {Ed003's Note -On the Greek thing, he had an automatic 12 month extension in his contract if he made a certain amount of appearances,which he did}
