Let's get a few things right about Carroll. His top flight record is 21 goals in 84 appearances which is 1 in 4, if you think that's quality then you need to wake up. I also hear how strong he is and how good his hold up play can be and how he wins so many headers well if that's true how come in those 84 appearances he's only got 6, yes that's 6, assists? People keep going on about his form being better at the end of the season and in the euros but lets be honest it was a desperate, lump it in the box 10 minutes in the cup final followed by a good performance against a hung over John Terry on the league match the following week and a header in the euros where there wasn't a defender within 5 yards of him when the ball in was of such quality he didn't have to move. Get things in perspective lads please

Hi eds, don't you think its funny that all we seem to talk about on here is midfielders joining Liverpool!? We have enough! Proper out and out wingers NO, and if BR wants to play that style of play we all know he likes then we need wingers! Then there's the left bk slot and oh, if Carroll goes we gave two strikers in our whole set up!! Why bring in Allen and Dempsey when we need to fill other positions? I rate them both, better than Aqua, shelvey and Adam, even Hendo! But surely the focus should be on another striker, two if Carroll goes, LB, LW n RW?! Jamie

I think dempsey will be bought as a front 3 man, you are right though that if carroll is sold then we need a striker.

for the people who think chelsea will win the title next season
hazard has a lot to prove he will come up against top class defenders and might flop
oscar is a braziliam who is weak and skinny and will take about 2 years to settle in like lucas did
arsenal
giroud will take time to settle in as he comes up against class defenders
podolski was bought from a relegated side
if he was that good other clubs would have paid above 10 mil for him
tottenham
vertonghen has a lot to prove, sigurdson isn't exactly that good
scum utd
kagawa has a lot to prove as german and english games are totally different
any player bought in from abroad will take time to settle in and get use to the physicality of the english game
scouse revolver

And i suppose all of Liverpool's signings are going to settle in just brilliantly just like Adam, Henderson and Downing did right? Your thinking is wishful at best.

I think united have strengthened but i doubt chelsea will win the league. they are much too defensive and are a team of mercinary's. if arsenal keep rvp and sign a good LB and CB then they are in with a shout but that is if they're lucky as their squad isn't great outside of the first 11. spurs will take time to mount a title challenge and i think that sacking redknapp will be a huge mistake.

Well, the team of mercenaries is the Champion of Europe and the FA cup Champion.Keep on dreaming .Do not forget we have signed Marin and are closing in on Cavani .And also Podolski has scored 44 international goals for Germany, not bad for a relegated player.I also suppose you think you are going to win the league or atleast finish in the top four.Keep up the fantasy mate.

Too much speculation here.

Let us see how a Carroll-less Liverpool deal with Man City, Chelsea etc.
Let's put this tikki takka nonsense to bed.

Ferguson, Mancini and de Matteo know how to deal with it.
Will you all stop being so naive !

Sgt. Pepper

You are so wasting your time because no matter what you think or say guess what. BR and LFC are going to do it anyways. and that carroll with liverpool couldn't beat a team playing tika take football i.e swansea or a host of other mid table teams. Man City got beat by teams playing tika take football as did Man Utd last year and Chelsea did well but should of got beat in first leg against barca.

Barca our the best team in the world and play this style of play but it still not good enough for some fans to see we should play it.

JD

If this tikki takka Rodgers likes works anything like it did at Swansea that will mean at home the team will be really good, but away will be rolled over to easy.

What a joker. if it as been sussed then where is the evidence. chelsea got lucky against barca, united got killed by barca and man city were beaten by swansea, i'm not saying that we will definitely win the league playing it but it is laughable to write it off, spain made history using it for christ sake.

Yep, Ferguson dealt with it very well in two champions league finals against Barcelona...doh. What next, maybe bring back Hodgson and go back to playing like Stoke? Give the man a chance.

17 Jul 2012 21:26:01
We paid £35 million for him, give the lad a chance! Wouldn't like to be sat here in 6 months time with a new manager saying we shouldn't have let him go. If he can't adapt then put him on loan, if he does well either way we can recoup a lot of the cash we bought him for. At the moment we are getting silly offers if reports are true. But there is also the question why has BR took Andy to U.S? Why has the club not put out a statement? I hope he is given a good opportunity.

Why should they put out a statement? West Ham said they could be interested IF he was available, Newcastle seemed to ask about his availability - hardly concrete offers. Are LFC supposed to make a statement everytime a player is linked with another club?

It amazes me how little faith huge numbers of supposed LFC fans have in our new manager. Rather than worrying about what might happen embrace the fact he's single-mindedly stamping his authority and style on the squad.

Previous managers finished 6th, 7th and 8th in the last 3 seasons with a squad that was top four in terms of transfer fees and wages. The last manager and DoF paid the price for wasting an obscene amount of money in the transfer market.

The new manager was picked because he would impose a style of play and a team ethic and look for value in the transfer market.

This summer he will likely move on Kuyt, Aurelio, Maxi, Bellamy and Doni - all players on massive wages, the wrong side of 30 and not regular starters (under the previous manager I may add).

He is prepared to make a big call on Carroll and I admire him for doing so. AC can't play the style of football BR wants to play - fact.

Aquilani will probably go too and if we end up with Borini (21), Allen (22) and Dempsey (29) then I will be happy because our manager knows them and so their chances of success are increased. All have ability and there's a clear idea of where they will play in the system. What's not to like so far ?

If AC goes there'll be another chunk of money to sign a pacy winger/striker and who knows - it could be an exciting signing.

On the business side of things our net spend could end up being negligable when you factor in the £10m or so that looks like being wiped off the wage bill.

Why can't people see this all needs to be done for the long-term success of the team ?

Any more than 4 or 5 signings will also make it difficult to hit the ground running. Allen and Borini already being familiar with BRs ideas will obviously help.

I'm actually excited about what Brendan is doing and am quite prepared to trust his judgement.

PieInTheSkyMan

Yeah i agree with you and will be happy with those players although there is no proof that carroll cannot fit into the system so it isn't fact.

Andy Carrol has reportedly said he only wants to go out on loan if he has to go, does anyone not think that someone at newcastle has been talking to him and asked him to come out with this so that they don't have to pay £20 mil and can bring him back on loan.

Andy knows he is not part of BR's plans, and therefore his prefered choice would be newcastle, but they only want him on loan.

17 Jul 2012 22:20:09
Everyone is clammering for marque players but in your opinion do you think Liverpool already have any? I believe that we do. IMO i thint Reina, Agger, Johnson, Gerrard and Suarez are in that category. Under that level I think that very good premier league players we have are Skrtel, Lucas, Bellamy, Carra and Carroll. I also think that Enrique and Downing when confident also come into this category. Under this we then have England U21 cpt - Henderson, next one IMO Shelvey and Kelly who are Premier league standard now. Under this there is then high potential in Sterling, Suso, Wisdom and Coady as well as Flannigan and Robinson. Never mind the 'youth team' who look tasty... So my point is what is all the panic about - its the MTV generation I want it now otherwise were going to be mid table forever! I think above shows we have a very strong squad for now and the future therefore we are in a strong position and with the right start to the season can finish... well there is the question... In your opinion if Liverpool start the season well where do you think we can finish? Top four for me.

Carragher? Really? He is Championship level now, if not League 1 level. He is way past it now.

Steve

Thank you that is an excellent post and i agree. we have huge potential in our squad whilst other teams are built for the present. we will be challenging in a few years.

Too many clowns claiming to be fans shouting for the head of Rodgers before he has even put out a team for a friendly. Absolute disgrace. Rodgers is one of the best young managers around and we don't know how lucky we are to have him. Borini will be great for us with Suarez and so will Allen in midfield if we get him ~ class player.

At least we will have a game plan next year and I reckon we will get much more out of the squad than we did last year.

Get behind your team for Christ's sake.

I can't believe some of the comments on here from so called 'fans' about Brendan Rodgers. Critising his decision to let Carroll go, saying he'll be gone by Christmas, and people have agreed with this is what really sickens me. Everything he has said up to this point you have been an board with but as soon as he says Carroll ain't part of his plans you belittle him.
If he wants to sell a player who only scored 4 goals last season and invest that money in a striker or a winger who can score and create more then that is his decision.

Whatever his decision is it is in his best intentions for the club. This from the same 'fans' wanting Carroll out only 4 months ago. I would be happy for Carroll to stay and continue to improve, but if BR doesn't see him fitting into his system why keep him? You also criitise him for letting the likes of Maxi and Kuyt, and possibly Bellamy go. Even though he wants to replace them with younger players who have many more years in the game, I guess that isn't good enough for some people.

You all need to stop getting on the back of a man who hasn't even taken charge of a pre-season game yet, and instead understand whatever the his decisions are they will be in the best interests of the club.

Another fantastic post from a true Lfc supporter...

Overall I have been delighted with Brendan Rogers appointment but I must say I am dissapointed with the treatment of Andy Carroll. A lot players seemed to under perform last season but Carroll seems to have been singled out.

If we are to believe that Brendan is this wonderful coach does he not have the ability to develop Carroll?is this not the job of a coach?. Any football team should have variety, variety to play a number of ways match by match, or periods within a match. An example of this was our performance in the cup final when Carroll transformed the game.

GIVE HIM A CHANCE

18 Jul 2012 22:05:53
hang on over the course of last season how many of us (me included) said carrol needs to go he is rubbish?
at £35m you should be coming in & doing a job if not youve got to go.

I'd love to see Henderson given a more central midfield role next season....

17 Jul 2012 21:52:57
Heard it from source close to the club that the Biggest issue with AC last season was work rate. It is well known by the other players that Andy turned up for club training and matches but would disappear straight after often back 2 Newcastle. Gave little to the club or did extra training. BR wants players totally committed to his philosophy and Liverpool FC. If this is the case fair play to BR he doesn't f**k about!

There are a lot of dreamers here.
However much I dislike Sir A Ferguson. He will make mincemeat out of Rodgers.
They are not in the same league.
I fear for the future. The brainwashed here don't help.

Sgt. Pepper

Why cant you just support the team which includes the manager that is if you are a lfc fan.fed up of whingers, moaners and defeatists

He is a good well respected young manager. His team haven't even kicked a ball yet and you're slating him. Give the man a chance!
Does the name shankley ring a bell to you? He came from where exactly?
Now shut up and get back to school!

Welcome to Liverpool, where they are about to give a news conference announcing the signing of Arsenal's Theo Wontcross.

Journalist: So Brendan, are you glad to get your man?
Rodgers: Yes I'm very glad. Wontcross is a fine player.

Journalist: What do you think he will bring to the team?

Rodgers: His Speed, his pace.....er....erm...ye..yeah.

Journalist: What made you sign him?

Rodgers: His er...speed..I guess.

Journalist: What are his best qualities?

Rodgers:........I believe I have already answered the question.

Journalist: 15m pounds Brendan, that's a lot of money for someone who is in the last year of his contract (whispering - and who's s***e).

Rodgers: Yes it is. It is A LOT. TOO MUCH IF YOU ASK ME! (laughing).

Journalist: Er.. erm Brendan I know you were rumoured to be interested in a number of wingers.

Rodgers: Yes a few were linked with us. But all those players could cross, shoot, pass etc. I WANTED SPEEEEEEEEED!!!

Journalist: Erm ok Brend-

Rodgers: AND MORE SPEEEEEEEEED!!! ARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHH!!! YES!! SPEED IS IMPORTANT!!! WE NEED MORE SPEEEEEEED!!!

Lewis the Red.

2010-2011 - 13 Goals and 9 Assists.

2011-2012 - 11 Goals 13 Assists.

He must be so quick that you missed those.

Who in our starting 11 came even close to that last year?

I'm not saying he's my favourite player or that I particularly want him to sign, but it's a misconception that he's got no end product.

Matt S - YNWA

Is it now? Most of those goals and assists are against weak relegation fighting teams.

Has anything happenned with Joao Carlos Teixeira since he signed? he's 19 now yet hasnt gone on tour or anything. Is he still injured and will he feature in the squad, go out on loan or stay with the reserves? cheers!

He is back from injury now he had a back problem during last season he played for the u18s against exeter at the weekend in an 8-1 victory id say he will stay in the reserves for the season !!

Yeah i think he scored in the reserves 8 goal win

17 Jul 2012 21:39:07
If Joe Allen is such a good player why aren't other premier league clubs interested in him. Sounds to me like the same situation we had with Adam and Henderson last year, brilliant in a small club But s**** at a bigger club. From what I have seen I honestly dont rate him any better than Henderson

With that reasoning some could ask if Andy Carroll is that good why aren't clubs like barca lookin at him? Because they build a team of good players, that's what BR and LFC are trying to do. Let them kick a ball before you hammer them.

A question for the eds.... With regards Andy Carroll.

Has anyone actually seen BR say the words that he does not want AC at the club? I only ask as every time I have seen BR been interviewed he's always said that he will make a decision on him once he has seen him in pre season.

So could all this speculation that he's going be pure press making 2+2=9 s***e.. As the press have history making up crap about us...

For the record iv been one of AC biggest critics and I would be glad to see the back of him, but at the same time I also think the press have it in for us....

Curled1 {Ed022's Note - The Press have really taken things to an extreme level, however this has caused much uncertainty and it looks likely that AC will leave.}

I am disgusted with the treatment of Andy Carroll by the press and the management of LFC, If the owners and BR want to get rid of Andy they should put him on the transfer market, If they don't they should make a statement like Kenny did with Luis Surez. Perhaps they haven't got the B.....ls and are allowing the speculation to go on untill Andy puts in a transfer request. I for one aren't a great fan of Andy's but he deservers a chance and backing of LFC, it's not his fault he cost £35m , with the proper manegment and coaching, which BR supposed to be an expert on I feel he will come good.

Hi Eds,
Brilliant website but the quality has been diluted a bit with people posting twitter and facebook rumours and posing as in the know people resulting in others having to wade through the same thing over and over again to get anything meaningful. I started following the website about four years ago when there was only ed001 and other eds were starting to appear.
Anyways the point I want to make is everybody saying that Allen wants to come LFC and is willing to hand in a transfer rumour. Isn't that tantamount to "tapping up" a player. I thought the procedure was to talk to the club, agree a fee and then talk to the player for terms or has it all changed?
RedRay {Ed022's Note - Football is very complex. I recently read a document based on football VAT which was over 38 pages long, so took me some time as you can imagine. It's best not to go into it, however the general idea is to find out if the player is available, talk to agents, talk to clubs, talk to the player, then merge all 3 parties and negotiate.}

17 Jul 2012 20:51:32
Who is this player that will excite the kop. None that we are linked with excite me.

We're gonna sign Messi. There. Get excited over that kiddo.

Bet you've never even been in the kop

It's actually Carroll leaving and signing for another team...many fans are excited he's leaving and love that it's going to happen!

17 Jul 2012 20:50:13
Eds are we still interested in tello or has the interest faded? AP {Ed022's Note - No idea.}

17 Jul 2012 20:47:02
i can't for the life of me understand why rodgers wants to get rid of andy carroll,surely in this day and age different styles are needed for different opposition, if you stick to the same formations you get sussed out.everybody would love to play like spain and barca on paper but we play on grass.do you think he needs to sell one of our big names to fund his targets eds? {Ed022's Note - Possibly.}

Mate we should support rodgers at the end he is responsible for failure or succes and fans who call negetive, moaners or support another club when they have different opinions its wrong the reality is some fans are angry or shocked to see the club is falling slowly by slowly or can't except liverpool is not top4 club anymore our owners don't have money to quick fix it that every fan want or expect it we are rebuilding and will take some time

Reality red

I agree but most of his targets are mediocre.

Bobbinred

I have to disagree with this , FSG have invested big money on players 100M last year that is up there with all teams except the perversion that is man city. We have consitently spent the money what we have lacked is the product. i will settle for so called lesser players who want to play for the club and give their all rather than 30M bench warmers

Hi ed, I was just wondering what restrictions the fair play rules will actually impose on teams. Are they not allowed to spend more than what they make, and will there be penalties if teams have debts or are run at a loss? Thanks {Ed022's Note - Don't worry about the FFP rules as of yet mate. They're very complex, and probably best to avoid them on this site. Sorry mate.}

Eds

Can you tell me who BR's backroom staff is? I haven't seen any announcements on it. And just went on LFC.Com and they have photos of the reds training and BR's talking to Rush and Fowler. {Ed022's Note - Other posters may be best to ask.}

17 Jul 2012 19:51:02
Hi eds, was watching said that, Liverpool are closing in on Clint Dempsey. I remember him saying something about 'a £5m bid', 'Fulham don't want to let the player go', 'negotiations going on' etc. Can you please confirm?

I live in South Wales and Joe Allen has been raved about for years. He is real quality.

Our fans would have had the raving hump if we bough Gareth Bale a few years ago, now it would cost the best part of 35m. ---- Just a thought.

Also, I would like to keep Carrol, however if BR is not going to use him as first choice Striker, then 35m is alot for a Plan B, and thus he should be sold and we should use the money in other area's.

FSG seem to have alot of faith in BR, therefore barring a disater he will be given time, he is on no lose due to the appalling points total last year, therefore judge him at the end, but more importantly when he has the players that can play the football he wants to play.

redphil

Br has already come out and said it will take time and his plans may not come to fruition untill after he has gone, that's confidence for you

17 Jul 2012 20:29:22
whats BR thinking, he hasnt even had a coaching session with Carroll yet. If he goes who is the player we are going to replace him with. Aqualani deal was peanuts compared to this! 35m player prob goin for 15m! Just as he was hittin form. This could come back to haunt us!

17 Jul 2012 20:27:51
Swansea has put å 15m pricetag on Allen. Hope were spending it on someone else if thats the price we will pay

17 Jul 2012 20:27:20
Maybe I've missed an interview or something but has anyone from LFC, Brendon Rodgers, Ian Ayre etc actually come out and said that Andy Carroll is not in BR plans and we want to get rid? or is everyone just taking the rubbish spouted by Sly Sports as gospel? I think I'll wait until I hear it from BR himself.

Andy Carrolls agent has told sky sports reporter that BR told him he is not wanted

They won't say that because that would lower his transfer value

17 Jul 2012 20:26:02
Would love to see a future Liverpool midfield of Lucas joe Allen James mc carthy/Henderson all have technique & work ethic any thoughts?....... Shankleys left leg

I think Shankly would kick you with his left leg for getting his name wrong.

But there is also the question why has BR took Andy to U.S? Why has the club not put out a statement? I hope he is given a good opportunity.

He will be good at another club. not saying what way we'll play or anything. but it wont suit him. he needs to be the vocal point of a team.

17 Jul 2012 20:11:38
don't expect any major signings unless players are sold. This is because John Henry does not want to make the same mistake he made with kenny(millions wasted). However depending on how well Rodgers is doing and league position money will be available in January and expect one or two bigger name signings. Most likely this summer is dempsey and Allen and another striker if Carroll leaves.

nottsred

It's only money wasted if they sell him, keep him for another season and see what happens, he will come good

Luuk De Jong has signed for Borussia Monchengladbach , so he is know definately not coming to us.

Wish him well for the future.

HI Eds, just wondering why we never seem to target brazilians..? Inter recently said if Chelsea sign Oscar it would have to be the biggest transfer in the country's history and at around 25-30m, that's not *that* much when you take into consideration what top players are going for these days. I saw Arsenal have recently got linked with a brazilian with 9m being the fee quoted and there must be plenty more in the same vein- most young players with potential seem to be relatively affordable. Also, surely, the Brazilians style of play would fit in with BR's style too. Is it due to work permit complications?

Thanks, great site! {Ed001's Note - you hit the nail on the head, work permits are very difficult to get hold of.}

17 Jul 2012 19:56:18
cant we just swap carroll with cabaye?
please post on rumours :)

That means cabaye worth £20 million at least against Liverpool prices? Meaning Newcastle got £55 million from us? Considering they paid peanuts for Cabaye

No thanks.

17 Jul 2012 19:57:09
I'll get slated for this but i'm starting to wish BR was not appointed.
Getting rid of Carroll is a big mistake then signing very average players like Borini and now Allen like what the hell Allen is so over rated Hendo and shelvey have more potential so why waste time and money.

I agree, but like you say not-many people want to hear that on here.

Allen have loads of potential to become class, if you can't see that there is something wrong with you, as for replacing carroll with borini, great move, Carroll has had so many chances and has pissed them all away

Out of interest who would you sign if in charge then ?

Hans

Rodgers hasn't even managed the club in a match yet and you're already writing him off! Give the guy a chance and he may surprise you!

RedSG

You deserve to be slated, how on earth do you know Borini is average? Joe Allen is 22 years of age, had a pass completion of 91%+ in the Prem last season, and has a phenomenal work rate, with him in a middle three of Lucas, Allen & Gerrard you've 3 players who are extremely good both defensively and offensively.

You'll be singing his praises this time next year mark my words.

So why don't either get behind your manager or go support the mancs.

frustrated that aquallani, and cole given clean slates, and carroll seems to have none at all...just when he starting to look good aswell, give us another option aswell!hope he is wearing the liverbird nxt season!

bernside

Who says they have, if a buyer comes in with a decent offer then they will be off

Great post, very logical comments and to be fair Andy deserves more of a chance than the other two.

Derek

But Carroll won't fit our play ,Rogers wants quick closing down from the front non stop running and quick movement when we have the ball ,caroll doesn't give that ,we won't be playing to put alot of crosses in the box,we dnt have alot of money so Rogers probly wants him gone to bring in other targets who will match the way we play, and Carroll wouldn't want to sit on the bench everyweek so I think he should move on

Sorry, I could have sworn you just said: "Just when he was starting to look GOOD" ......Really? When was that??

hi eds with all these rumours carroll is leaving do you think he should be given a chance? after all he has stated his desire to stay and plus surely we need to keep all the strikers we've got (which is not alot) and improve the squad by buying quality wingers {Ed029's Note - I would have given him a chance personally, but it isn't down to me and we need to back the manager}

17 Jul 2012 19:35:08
ok EDs a question 4 u all.If AC does go which seems highly likely,who would u WANT us to sign up front.dont mind bout the speculation but its gotta be a realistic signing so no "Messi's" lol.Id say maybe Welliton of spartak or Schurrle.or maybe Berbatov lol (jokes) {Ed022's Note - Schurrle is a very good player in my opinion, and would probably be my first choice.}

He didn't have a good season for Leverkusen.

17 Jul 2012 19:33:20
We need a young left winger like Iker Muniain , Suarez to play on right where he is best . I know Muniain would cost over £20 mil but he is amazing and would suit brandons style of football perfectly(anyone that saw him against the scum in europa cup would agree) and he is young (19 or 20?).I rather have one or two very good transfers than 4 or 5 average ones like last year. And how much again did we pay for downing and henderson? Jeez....

I totally agree. Someone of Muniain or Jovetic's quality is what we need. Apparently some fans are happy settling for Theo Wontcross or Daniel Sturridge. But hey at least they're quick!

Lewis the Red.

17 Jul 2012 19:18:17
The one player I would love us to sign is Christian Ericksen. Not much speculation about him at the minute. Any chance at all?
Big dog... {Ed022's Note - Nope.}

17 Jul 2012 19:13:16
I think BRs plan is to leave the back 5 alone then play Allen with Gerrard and Lucas and Dempsey with Borini and Suarez. Shelvey, Downing, Henderson, Cole and youngsters like Sterling and Suso will provide adequate cover I suspect but it still looks to me like he's going to need at least one striker. But who? Who is most likely? Rondon? Sturridge? Please Eds which strikers do you think would actually be achievable targets {Ed022's Note - I believe that Sturridge would be possible if he didn't have such ridiculous wage demands.}

Starting to finally see the club for what it has been for ages.... A brand! How many decent players are we going to lose? Xabi, masch, Torres ect. Gerrard nearly went Chelsea not to long ago, now talk of Carroll going! Why? The potential is massive, he's English, and massive. Throwing away money on crap and when something good does come along we want to get rid! Suarez on his way next - mark my words

What you are forgetting is that those players you mentioned wanted to leave

You know we are going to lose money on Carroll, spend 35m and sell for 15m is no way to enterprise as you put it...

Xabi left because of Rafa, Masch just didnt settle in England, Carrol has had 3 or 4 decent games in 18 months the only thing massive about him is his frame.
A ball has not been kicked yet, you havn't got a clue what is going to transpire next season.

Support the team please, if come December we are playing crap and no sign of improvement to come, yeah, then moan.
I for one am quite looking forward to the new season, and support BR and the philosophy he is bringing to our great club. He wants players that are hungry, and will fight back to win the ball when the oppposition have it, and that are good technically gifted as well, sadly, Andy Carroll does not fit this bill.
His monetary value is quite good at the minute and thats why we should sell him, keeping him on the bench and using him as a plan b, as some fans have suggested, will decrease his playing time and therfore decrease his value.

''Throwing away money on crap'' certainly applies to the topic of Andy Carroll.

Lewis the Red.

Short sighted comment imo. If it is a brand then why would you weaken it... thats like Puma not making 'king' anymore or Nike not making 'air'; they wouldnt do it to save short term money. If they are only in it for the brand then they want the best brand. Popular club - entertaining, good, winning team. Its not Gordon Gecko stripping the assets time!

im a sunderland fan lads and i think last season with a bit of luck in front of goal you lads would have been pushing for that champions league spot. the amount of points chucked away at home was unreal. but i cant understand how br can let ac go the lad showed last season how much he loves his time n liverpool and doesn't even want to return to his home town club ashleys bargains. with some good coaching the lad will only improve again this season and those chances last year will be put away. if i was a liverpool fan i would be worried what br tactics will be at liverpool next season lads. anyway good luck for next season and hope ye get away from last seasons under achievers tag

Nice one mate at last someone who see's sense all these lfc fans just want 20m for him keep him he will be class

Nice to see some positive banter from the Mackem's. Shows their are some decent fans out there with constructive things to say. Nice one m8, but I think we have to trust in BR and hope he gets it right!

Mark the Selby Red

Mark the Selby Red

6 goals. 42 ganes. What's hard to understand?

Ta fella,
I think it is a mistake as well.
Do you think AC would be able to play in the Barcelona side?
If yes then surely that is what BR is looking for.

17 Jul 2012 19:12:35
Hi, just read that there's a rumor about LFC being interested in Walcott, this true and if so what's the chance of us getting him. {Ed022's Note - Does anyone know how to spell Search Function?}

17 Jul 2012 19:08:36
Im always so optomistic but im so disapointed with Rodgers already. The players we are linked with are just average. Hes happy to keep player such as aquallani who would have happily jumped on next plane to italy given the chance but happy to let a young english man like carrol go with out giving him a chance when he clearly wants to be there.whats going on?do u think he may av fallen out with him behind the scenes? Also dont seem to bothered bout letting bellamy go when he was one of our best players last year. Then hes after joe allen wooohoo wonder if we can wrestle him from the clutches of our rivals oh no wait a min none of them are even interested.

Stopped reading after the first sentence. season hasnt even started yet and you aren't will to give our manager a go. shame on you. jm

I don't think he is happy to keep Aquilani, just hasnt had anyone going for him, so he has to get him in the shop window

Agree with your carroll and aqua assesment, but joe allen looks like a decent prospect!!

bernside

Average ? jees, and why are they average. tell us who you would like and we can compare, joe allen had the highest pass success rate in europe last year, but then again he ain't foreign and from a big fancy team

You sound like another fair weather supporter, only interested in "Supporting" the club when their doing well. Just go away, all TRUE Liverpool "SUPPORTERS"are backing the manager to the HILT.

Stevie.

17 Jul 2012 19:02:57
If the report on sky is true and aj is not in brs plans i think it is a bit silly to let him go. i trust what rogers is trying to do but what happens when teams park the bus which they always do at anfield we could do with something different to break the deadlock. look what chelsea did to barca, they had no plan b. if we keep aj we will have a plan b. also i dont think he is too bad wiv the ball at his feet. all i can think is that his antics off the field are the driving force behind his exit. oh well, only time will tell.
Andy {Ed022's Note - Who's AJ?}

You can't have a 35M plan B warming the bench. That does not represent good utilisation of an asset.

Give us another clue as to who you're talking about?

17 Jul 2012 19:00:54
dear ed(s) woud you rather have michu or allen because they both seem to be very good {Ed022's Note - Allen all day long.}

Allen is quite good, but Michu at £1.5m?! Daylight robbery.

17 Jul 2012 18:59:44
Andy Carroll only wants a loan move, I think he is looking to sit tight as Rogers could well be gone by Xmas, we have all probably considered that possibility could happen. BR already starting to look out of his depth!

Kidney

We've not even played a game under him yet, talk about not giving a new coach time that takes the biscuit...

Drivel. Close the door on your way out. Rodgers has yet to put a foot wrong. he has started moving on older players and has signed a quality young player. He will vbe gone by Christmas however - Christmas 2032. RED LENIN

OMG give the guy a chance, a ball hasn't been kicked yet, what has Andy Carroll done exactly in 18 months apart from playing well in 3 or 4 games towards the end of the season, so that he could be considered for the England team.

He could not look any more out of his depth than Dalglish did last season. And since he has not managed us even in a friendly yet, could you explain how he looks out of his depth?

Red Flag Flyer

Br needs support just get behind him and support all that is lfc.

Good post. Who do you reckon the yanks will appoint after BR ?

Not too sure how he looks out of his depth?

We all need to face facts that Carroll isn't what BR wants, I think he's building a team around Suarez. This means that Carroll does not fit, and personally I'd prefer it built around Suarez than Carroll.

Red Raw

What has happened to the Liverpool fans truly awful? Just let BR do his job and back him for F sake he hasn't even been in charge for one game and he's getting slaughtered??

What are you on about? ..... How is he starting looking out of his depth? We havent even played a match yet for Gods sake !!

OH, FOR THE
LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY... >-Z Call yourself a Liverpool supporter? YOU ARE HAVING A LAUGH ! We don't need persons like you connected to our wonderful Club.

Stevie.

Well if he was planning on building a team around Suarez he might have just ballsed that up!

Reading through the posts over the last few days and remembering one's through out the season is really baffling me...

The views seem to be on here (not by all) Borini is a bad signing because he used to play for Chelsea reserves and only cost 8 Million.

Same as Allen because he is likely to come from Swansea, he is not good enough and should never wear the Liverpool shirt... with these signings we are likely to get relegated or if we are lucky finish about 15th.

The view seems to be we must sign Ramierz or Afellay or someone else with a fancy name or for about 20 million.

Yet i remember last season, people were asking why we can not get cheap talent like Cabaye or Tiote or Jelavic ? all was cheap and no one really knew who they were...

So BR is trying to bring in talent for cheap that he knows will do a job for him and he believes will push us on, and the same fans (who wanted cheap talent) want to hang him and FSG while there at it.

I really don't know too much about Borini but 8 Million for a Italian international surely can't be bad business , and Allen is brilliant, anyone who watched him will know this boy can play football and i for one am excited about him.

Another thing is about Carroll, 90% of fans wanted him out 6 months ago, now it's happening everyone at the club is muppet's and no one know's what there doing!

Make your minds up !

G BOX

Well said mate, totally agree, getting very dissillutioned with the so called fans on here slating fsg and BR before a ball has been kicked.

I think you'll find most real fans wanted Carroll to start more games and given more of a chance, which KK didn't do - you have to play people into form, not sit them on the bench all the time and destroy their confidence. I, and most of the people I go the match with, think BR is making a huge mistake, we don't need Allen, Dempsey or god forbid Walcott. All we need is the players we have to play to their best from.

John B

Could not say it any better my self m8
YNWA. Lfc linc

Nice one G BOX. Good observations of what a lot of fans were saying last season.
I think Carroll should be given at least until Xmas to see if he can fit in with BR style of play.If not then put him out on loan and hopefully he will do well for another club which will increase his eventual transfer fee

BR is doing exactly what he should do.... Getting young and economical player who will life our team... Players like Allen, Borini are future of the world people think of buying super expensive and big names like cavani and all... Make no sense to me because even players like kaka and abromowich (spelling) could not do gr8 for clubs like Madrid and barca... My point is we got a good squad and our new manager is educating them well about his style of play. So he just need rite combination to hit the ground.... Trust me we are going big from here on.... Trust ur players and BR

Spot on G BOX.

Hi Ed's hope your having a good evening, now I'm the kind of person who always thinks were going to surprise everyone each year and win the league, but I'm noticing a lot of negative posts this year.
Is that just my imagination? and as you see a hell of a lot of posts in your opinion which year where us liverpool fans most negative before a ball was even kicked in your opinion based on posts obviously?
I'm guessing KK would be the most expectant.
My mates a glass half empty sort and says this year, I'm going with Roy. were 3 hours ahead and I have a beer on this, so dont let me down Ed. {Ed022's Note - This year is certainly the most negative, last season it was pretty positive compared to this.}

Not a dig at any one but there 1/2 people on here keep stressing about are so called signings we making or trying to make ,we are not going to sign messi or Ronaldo etc, I hope we try and sign the (next ) messi or Ronaldo at 17/18/19 years old give them time but thing is we as fans might not give then that time and crush them mentally ,we got to give the owners more time ,to put there ways into club ,and BR time to pick his side and wot players he wants ,to those who doubt the way things are going just give it time and keep the faith ,clubs can not keep spending silly money I hope that the rangers thing has opened a lot ov eyes in the football world ,sooner FIFA fair play cums in the better for football on a hole , Keep the faith

Eds, I know a lot gets said about info coming from twitter but some of them have been spot on so far and they are now reporting there has only been 1 offer made for carroll by newcastle and it was a year long loan and we are to pay 80% of his wages, surely this cant be true? mike ashley is having a laugh! could you shed some light? thanks

eds do u no where owen mite end up or most likely destination thanks {Ed022's Note - USA, China or maybe even smaller clubs within England. Stoke is a possibility.}

What about an even smaller club than Stoke, say Everton?

17 Jul 2012 18:30:27
Plz post this.
Hi Ed i really want to know how much time u expect will take to sign Allen dempsey. Do u expect them to sign before lfc tour of Usa. What is the latest on carrol.
Thanx.
Keep up the good work.
U guys doin tremendous job. {Ed022's Note - Who's Allen Dempsey?}

17 Jul 2012 18:27:02
iv posted once before, said Dempsey and Borini definites, possiblility of a swansea youngster at the beginning of summer, (you can check that), just wanted to confirm that the next 3 signings Will be: Dempsey, then Allen, then Walcott. however, i have also been told there will be one shock signing (who, i was told, has not been assosciated at all with liverpool in the media) this will be funded with the £16.5mill carroll money (this will be the eventual fee as it is the min amount that we will accept and mr arrogant would love to buy carroll back for half the price they sold him as it will make him look very clever making a 20mil profit). this signing will be a non-european striker, but neither had permission to confirm a name with me (both are young players whom i speak to regularly due to old school football links), just wondering if you had any idea of a striker about 15mill who has never played in europe and would fit the BR style eds? this is genuine information so if you could answer it would be great?
RedRyanP {Ed022's Note - You'd like to know any striker in the world outside of Europe valued at around 15 million? How long have you got?}

You got Borini right and it looks like J Allen is likely. However, you never mentioned a word about a Swansea youngster, furthermore you staked your reputation on Carroll being in a red shirt come 1st September. So rein it in a bit pal eh?
Gonadz (Search is v useful Eds!)

Hi ed, iv got most of the night, and i have genuinely been told that, i was more wondering if you had heard of an inkling of interest in any none european striker at around that price. it is all i was told about the fifth signing, it was all that he could find out for me, thanks
RedRyanP {Ed022's Note - Erm, this is probably one of the most open questions I've ever received. The only player I can logically think of is Junior Vicosa, but he wouldn't cost 15 million.}

17 Jul 2012 18:25:43
Dont really know anything about Miralass so thought I'd look him up quickly. Has a good goal scoring record and is classed as a winger/forward, and during the season he overtook another winger/forward in the greek league in the scoring charts. The other Lad (same age) was on fire and had scored 15 in 17 matches before damaging his leg which ended his season.
His name...Sebastian Leto.
Small world isn't it.

Whats wrong with Leto? He didnt get a wprk permit so couldnt play. Rafa rated him highly but had to let him go.

17 Jul 2012 18:20:35
Eds, can i ask your opinion on Andy Carroll? Should he be sold? Lets assume a fee of 15/18 million is being offered. {Ed022's Note - He should not be in my opinion.}

Well said can not believe he is going to be sold have to say taught it was a bad buy but when we got him fit unplayable

16 Jul 2012 14:12:16
Tw*tter seems to think we are in for Walcott! Dunno how true but he's normally quite good. Ed022 anything more on Andy Carroll, you said earlier demba ba may be used as part exchange

Thanks {Ed022's Note - I still believe this to be the case.}

16 Jul 2012 10:14:02
I just read your matias suarez profile and you valued him at 20m but it was done quite a long time ago and I was wondering if that value had changed or not cos he wld be a great addition {Ed022's Note - I will try and find out for you mate. I should imagine it is around 18 million.}

17 Jul 2012 18:13:04
Eds fellow reds ,watching lfc now Rodgers interview in USA and he says the aim is to get near the top teams within three years .so don't expect to much for the next couple of seasons cheers psv . Ps don't think he will get that long but who knows .

Rodgers is unlikely to say anything else?
Can't say were gonna do this or that?
He would just be putting unecessary pressure on himself and the players.
He's doing all the right things by keeping everthing low key; as you know how the expectations from the support at LFC can go mad!!
kidmillions

17 Jul 2012 18:09:31
Hi Eds, do you think it possible that BR has both Aqualani and Cole in his plans for next season or do you believe he has taken them on the USA tour as a way of placing them in the shop window, With Aqualani having a new Italian team mate in borini maybe he will not feel so isolated as I have heard he suffers from home sickness similar to that of Jesus navas. I also believe that Joe cole might be the sort of player that BR would like to have in his squad as he is well aware of his attributes from his time at Chelsea. I personally would like them both to get another go at establishing themselves within the first team. Your thoughts please ? Cheers Riles11 YNWA {Ed001's Note - bit of both, in my opinion. He will give them a chance, but will sell if we get a decent offer.}

Oh he has them in his plans for sure. His selling plans. You are looking at over 150K a week in wages between the two of them. If he can off-load them during this window he will. RED LENIN

17 Jul 2012 18:09:33
Just a quick one. think we should accept that Carroll is going. i for one would like him to stay but rodgers obviously believes he won't fit his style of play and that can still get a large sum of money for him. potentially if he were to have another poor year his value would decline rapidly as well as paying his large wage for a season. just an opinion.

17 Jul 2012 18:07:05
Please look at Mirallas in greater detail before you ask for him, never done well in his days in France (I know he was young) or internationally only scoring against lesser countries. Yes he's done well for Olympiakos but that's not the greatest of leagues. There the Celtic equivalent of of the greek league. -McMenemy

I agree, he will be a flop in the premier league and no where near good enough for the so called top ten teams

17 Jul 2012 18:06:41
man utd, chelsea and City is out of touch at the moment I mean the way team is look like. top 3 boocked . there is only 1 spot left. arsenal , tottenham , Liverpool all 3 in for 1 place. in paper tottenham and arsenal look stronger then us. Liverpool only hope is a Young guns rock . I have the feelings that Suso or raheem going to be our trum card as BR is master in young player.

r-r

Why do you say Utd are out touch - they rely on a 36 year old and a 38 year old - they've bought no one of note to date - and think back to our games against them last year - worry about Chelsea and their big money signings, and the current City squad, but I see nothing to else to worry about - Newcastle - nothing special, Spurs - losing their best player in Modric, Arsenal = RVP going ( and Podolski is no adequate replacement ) - if Rodgers gets them playing right away and scoring goals, winning home matches ( 30 points dropped last season ) - could be a good year.

John B

Newcastle, everton both finished ahead of Liverpool last season. Surely they have a better shot then liverpool. Or is borini going to make them jump 4 places
Lol

Big fan, are you sure, cos you really should know where he has gone

Yeah your that big a fan you didn't even know he already signed for another team weeks ago lol

What a big fan; I hope your a better fan of Liverpool as you are of Diame

17 Jul 2012 16:39:27
Hi Eds. Macca has said that the idea is four players in and four players out. So far Aurelio, Dirk and Maxi are out. Does it mean that if the club sells Bellamy and Andy there will be 5 ins? {Ed001's Note - players that go will have to be replaced, that was always the plan.}

I wouldn't agree that all will have to be replaced. Part of the problem Liverpool have had in recent years is to large a squad. A smaller squad with a higher skill average would be better.

17 Jul 2012 15:43:57
Afternoon Ed I mentioned Claudio Yacob the other day after I'd seen him linked with West Brom. As a free agent previously linked with arsenal and united I would think he would be an ideal defensive midfield cover for Lucas. Thoughts?
Thanks

ed001, i remember that you were very negative about the process of appointing our new manager (not giving the job to Rodolfo etc).
I'd like to ask you, since i rate your opinion über-highly, how you think about Rodgers now and the job he has been doing so far (training, potential targets, outs etc).
I'd be over the moon if you'd tell me what you think.

Great site, i luuuv it.
Leni {Ed001's Note - I don't know, it is difficult to judge a man on a few weeks, I would prefer to give him the full season at least. I do think he has shown a real strength, there are certainly no questions about who is making decisions! I have to say though, Rodgers has acquitted himself well on camera, which should help him.}

Thanks for the answer ed001, i appreciate it!
of course he should be judged by his football, but i find him very trustworthy. i just hope he doesn't break our balls. so far i think he handles both media and fans very well.
have a nice evening, dear ed!

Anyone, Do you know if the Reds will be having any open training sessions while they are in the US? I'm seeing them play in Baltimore on the 28th but I have never been able to see them live and would love to see a rodgers training session. I know other teams have held practices open to the public while in the states and was hoping liverpool would do the same. Any help is greatly appreciated.

JerseyRed

Hey mate, I belong to the LFCBaltimore fan club, and the training session in Baltimore requires tickets. These tickets were allocated to us by the club, but we are no longer taking requests for them since we've had more requests than we have tickets. Not sure how the training sessions in the other cities are structured, but my guess is they follow the same model as the one in Baltimore.

Hope this helps you out, mate! Enjoy the match, and the city of Baltimore.

Cheers!

Rodgers tiki-taka football approach and team;

Zone1) Reina. Gulacsi
Zone2) Agger. Skrtel. Coates. Carragher/Wisdom
Zone3) Lucas. Spearing/Coady
Zone4) Johnson. Enrique. Kelly. Robinson
Zone5) Gerrard. Aquilani/Shelvey. Henderson. Suso
Zone6) Suarez. Bellamy/Sterling. Cole. Downing
Zone7) Borini. Pacheco

Hopefulley they score in the endZONE
red lad

How about THE -LIVERPOOL-WAY. approach!
bloody tiki-taka, sounds like bloody cellotape!
gaz the red

I sure as hell wish there are at least 3-4 changes in this squad..this squad here doesnt look anywhere near being a top4 squad..

Don't see that squad being strong enough for top six

Applying the same Rodgers system but adding the players I would like to see come in:

Zone 1: Reina
Zone 2: Skrtle, Agger.
Zone 3: Lucas.
Zone 4: Johnson, Enrique.
Zone 5: Gerrard, Allen.
Zone 6: Suarez, Ramirez.
Zone 7: Borini.

The Carrol money funding/ part funding the Ramirez deal, Dempsey and Allen widely expected to be on the way and Borini already in the bag!
I belive we would still need to invest in another striker as with only Dempsey and downing as cover for the front three we would be found lacking in my opinion.
I think this first team at least, would be capable of a top 6 finish.

First post -

I was someone who always maintained AC would come good and was genuinely excited about his prospects next season. I have to say if BR has no intention to play him it is perhaps the best move for the club to sell him. Two key observations going forward though :

1. Rodgers has shown a clear plan and a ruthless side - could be good although i do personally feel a young Geordie openly saying he wants to stay and not go back to Newcastle shows some guts ( what we have been seriously lacking)

2. At last some real leadership has been shown, moving the club to a clear style of play. Perhaps this is what we need more than anything.

With the above points in mind i admire Rogers but feel it has to work for him relatively quickly or he could suffer at the hands of 'armchair fans'. Lets get behind him .

Good first post agree with you totally!
i do believe BR is here for the long haul and i am very excited about the season ahead.
cmon the reds!!
gaz the red

Leaderships one thing, following along blindly is another.history is littered with people following blindly without question ending in their ultimate doom.yes BR is making the big decisions, but are they the right decisions? he prob needs the money from sales to fund his buys,in my opinion its a massive mistake letting AC go.and before you all start chirping in that AC is only going on loan.no he isnt,if no one comes up with between 15-20 mil he will be loaned out to increase his value if he performs then he will be sold next summer.after all fsg dont want to look like complete mugs cause up until now they havnt looked like the sharpest tools in the box have they

I'm already scared of what's going to happen next season, I think midtable is the highest we can hope for, although I think we will finish in bottom half....I don't get our transfer policy...... Ship aload out.... Maxi, kuyt, aurelio n now Carroll..... Bring in a 21 yr old CF borini and other players who are average at best.... Dempsey (who's 30), Allen ( Swanseas level) and Walcott ( a headless chicken) ..... What is going on at all? Is Rodgers the new hodgson? I know my answer but Only time will tell.......I've got a feeling il be back on here saying " I told you so"....

M8 do not think I will hear you say that ,we bit unlucky to fin where we did last season ,so keep the faith.
YNWA. Lfc linc

At least give us your name so we can name and shame you when you are wrong

Mike B

Why are some fans so eager to say I told you so, some fans want to get behind the team and give the new regime a chance I think the clue is in the word really SUPPORTers

I totally agree , i still dont understand why we always play gerrard when hes in his 30s.

He should in the euros that he's past it.

LAVERS

I agree with most of your post, except the mid table nonsense - with the same squad, or with a slightly lesser squad, there is now way we can lose 30 points at home again - assuming the expected signings - only Dempsey and maybe Borini will get a regular game, assuming Carroll goes, and they hit the ground running I cannot see Utd ( who haven't strengthened to date ) or Arsenal ( if RVP goes ) being any stronger than us.

John B

So you'll be back saying " i told you so"

How will we REAL supporters know It's you when you don't have the balls to post a name.

I smell a Troll. Get back under your bridge Fool

Mr Slonk The red

YNWA

But how will we know it was you who told us, oh nameless one?

BigBadBen

Bottom half of table really?? Never heard so much cak in my life!

That is all!

Mike S

I have a feeling you won't
I do not think Allen is Swansea level (what ever that means?). I also think Walcott (if he is coming at all) would be perfect for us. Stop thinking individual players and think how they will link to others and a new system
gareth

Call yourself a fan?
i'm excited about the new era. if we get dempsey and allen maybe a aonther midfielder we will be a force. last season i thought we had one of the worst midfields in league but not too far away. trust BR
martynlfc

The bast post i have ive seen today. you have summed it up. fair play for being honest.

I agree theres a lot of unhappy fans right now FSG need to up there ambitions.

Totally agree mate he is signing all these average Swansea players. Allen is so over rated we are going to be below mid table if BR is not careful.

Shut up noob
You'll be back...
You don't even leave a name
Bean

But you will probably just be waiting on your chance to do that like after first loss of the season after loads of great games..jokes aside will you be man enough to get on here and admit if you are wrong and we play well because most wont they will be to busy saying i knew it well in

Your a person you call yourself a liverpool fan you should be ashamed with yourself get off fifa and smell the coffee we aint gonna get world class players anymore!!!!
Nick from Birmingham

One day most will realise,Liverpool fc is in total transition,Lets get playing good football first, for years now,the football has been terrible, lets get good attacking football first, then go from there,Mr rogers knows what he's doing,Kenny's a legend, but lets face it,was way off the mark.(tactics and interviews). For me,i'm excited we have a manager with great people skills and and a preference for playing attacking football....

Kuyt- Past his best, love the guy but should have been sold last summer for 10m hen Inter offered it
Aurelio- Injury prone, past his best
Maxi - Good player, but again way past his prime
Carrol (i think we should keep) however 35m lack of goals.

Borini, 21, Italian intenational, Better goal scoring record in Italy than AC, in league whereit hard to score.
Allen, Superb prospect
Walcot, Ask RVP how headless he is.
Dempsey, did you not see him agianst us last year.

If we get our targets we are already improved, and younger, and thats on a team who should have finished higher with a bit more luck....

So really give BR a chance and do what proper LFC fans do and support the manager. YNWA mean anthing to you

Scared?are you for real?i feel in br the club is trying to move in a better direction.we can't win with u so called fans.what do u won't from the club?splash the cash every season.person

Ste

My god man would you let them kick a ball first, the majority of the players out wanted to leave and gettin on a bit, fair enough about possibly losing carroll, I do actually want him to stay, but rodgers prob wants to bring in players that already know his style of play, allen would be a good buy imo

If you think the excellent Joe Allen is average? Then I'm afraid you know nothing about football.

Eddie LFC

I find it mildly amusing how you post your trash on the Arsenal site regarding the state of your club. I used to like Liverpool, they have some great players. I will be over the moon if Wilshere turned out to be half the player he was. But it is fans like you, that p!ss me off and I now despise Loserpool and take great enjoyment in your clubs many, many failures.

You spent £20m on Henderson and Downing, we spent £10m on Arteta and Podolski, Half the price for players twice as good. Despite selling our best players every other year and your recent spending spree we still manage to finish 5 places and 20 points ahead of you even after our disasterous start. I hear you want Walcott for £15m? Be my guest while your at it how about Ramsey for £25m? Your club is a joke. When Gerrard is past it and Agger, Suarez, Reina all move on to better clubs that's when you really will struggle.

When we play you next season we are going to slaughter you. With or without RVP.

Paddy AFC

WOW, Eddie's really pi**ed you off LOL

MR EM

What a joke. No trophies for 7 years, yet still arrogant beyond belief. Even Chelsea have won a European Cup - Arsenal will never win won.

You find it amusing how some fans trash you over on the Arsenal site yet you are childish enough to come on here and abuse them back?

Really ? there a lots of morons on these sites just ignore em !

Paddy, it would tke me too long to name the many failures at arsenal, not to mention a certain rvp who wants to leave, arsenal have become no more than a feeder club, useless backroom people who cant tie players down to long contracts, take a long hard look at your club before you have a go at others, STAY OFF OUR PAGE

One fan doesn't represent a club Paddy AFC.

JMS

Paddy your opening line in your sentence shows your a hypocrite, nobody on this page with all due respect cares about arsenal, will look forward to beating you at anfield early season, so please if your gonna bitch about us please so on you're own page, gotta a lot of gooner mates so love bantering with them but u my friend are not worth it, ps where we're u in Istanbul

Thats fighting talk where I come from Paddy, its good job Ive moved eh ?

Chill out man

Tel 1949

Oh yeah and 5th is something to be proud of. You talk about Podolski being better than our players, well he didn't look to good at the Euros did he? But I agree that a small amount of so called fans harm our reputation so shame on them. But your being a hypocrite by doing exactly what you complained about. You talk about when our players leave we will have had it yet they're all here and are here for years and your players leave at first chance. In the next months and years the new LFC stars will be on the scene and the liver bird will rise again
JK

Haha! We're a joke! Your club is the SECOND richest club in the world! Look up the combined wealth of your owners. Yet you've won nothing in 7 years. You lose your star players every year, and they all stick the knife in on their way out!

We're going through some bad times, no doubt about it. But at least LFC fans don't happily settle for winning NOTHING like your lot! Whats the point of getting CL if you can't / don't ever compete?

Yawn!

LFC_SA

What did Arsenal win last year? We were at our worst for the last twenty years and we still won more last year that you've won in the last seven.

I have many friends who support other teams who now hate Liverpool, we used to be known as the best fans in the world, but thats not the case now... last season for example fans from here were posting on the UTD page laughing because they went out of Europe early... We wasn't even in Europe... We seem to be getting our highs from other teams failure and that is not what i remember us being about, we need to realize we are a little behind Arsenal, Utd City, Chelsea, we can still have banter, just no need to be so bitter so often

Our club is a joke, yet your club has won nothing for 7 years, and has NEVER won the European Cup. Time to have a rethink which club the joke is.

Reina already turned you down Paddy mate. I take it you don't mean Arsenal when you say 'better clubs'?

When Fabregas left you he won more trophies in 6 days with Barcelona. Than he did in 6 years with Arsenal.

Henry , Cesc, RVP, Clichy all left your small club to win things. Me thinks you should change your name from the 'Gunners' to the 'Goners if we don't win anything' what you reckon buddy? Or the 'Stepping Stones' sounds good and appropriate too mate.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

He Paddy AFC,

When your so called big club has won as many trophies as Liverpool FC has won than you may speak. As long as it is not please shut up your big mouth and keep enjoying every season your team is playing beautifull football but again wins nothing as usual !!!!!!!!!! Goodluck watching Wengers kidds.............

Typical Arse fan - however I think Henderson will become a great player and Podolski is untried in the PL, I hope they keep Walcott, wouldn't like to see him in a LFC shirt, if they lose RVP they may struggle. Artetea, OK but overrated.
It's going to be close bewteen 3 maybe 4 sides next year - it's just a case of all 4 trying to match City and big spending Chelsea.

John B

Haha your just worried as soon as RVP goes you will be a mid table team and your missing the fact that we have a top 4 defence and Lucus in CDM and we will keep getting quality can't wait till RVP goes

But ya still havent won anything..

Me personally ill apologise for the persons using LFCs name in order to go across to the AFC page just to create trouble.. I think we call them trolls.. they prolly dont support LFC either but for those that do, im sorry for them.. cos they make us all look like persons and give us all a bad name!
However, u coming over here doing the same really defeats any dignity youse might have had..
Bring on next season.. may the best team win.. Ill be supporting the winning side everytime!
ItsNotRocketScience

I dare Arsenal to actually WIN something next season. Having all these "amazing" players is fine but if the best they can hope for is 3rd or 4th then that's just a bit rubbish isn't it.

But if you're happy with your team qualifying and losing then fair play to you my man.

We Liverpool fans are not happy about finishing 8th, that is plain to see. But Arsenal seem very content to be nearly runs every season.

I shall look forward to you celebrating another triumphant season where you will win nothing. Again.

Tristan

Paddy, the internet is full of trolls with nothing better to do than upset people. I suggest you don't believe everything you read, anyone can sign off using whatever name/allegiance. If I signed off a message on the Arsenal site as A.Wenger I'm pretty certain you would believe it's actually Arsene posting rumours on the site. True fans have a healthy respect for each other's teams, leave the hate to the sados!

Oh dear Paddy... Bless... I could say so much, but, i'm afraid of hurting your feelings... petal...

Stevie.

Paddy you've just shown yourself to be on the same level as you claim Eddie is. How do you know podolski will be a success? How do you know Henderson won't be under better guidance?
I like arsenal. Always have, moreso since wengers brand of football. I certainly won't judge a club on one or two ignorant fans, as every club has them. We look like we may have more than most at the minute, which is a shame from my point of view.
CQ

Whats up son are you scared that we will be playing better football than you next season, it sounds like it to me. All fellow reds laugh out loud at this muppet. LFCMARK.

Paddy ,your club are exceptional and they are very respectful people ,you have been hanging on for a few years and have not won as much as "loserpool" have.
you need to remind your self why we are in a mess at present , we went through a nightmare just because mr david moores sold to the wrong guys we nearly folded but we never and we still have more fans than arsenal we are a sleeping tiger on the way to waking up . we were all over you at anfield , but you won and we beat you at your ground , a modern stadium looks good and holds many but i still got soaking wet in the rain.
how ever all the best to you, you are a great club but then again so are we but we are famous all over the world. red mick tag ynwa

Hey Paddy AFC, can we get some things straight.

1) Henderson wasn't £20 million. Anyway, he is British and young, thus his price would always be higher, whereas your two players you signed aren't counted as HG and Podolski and Arteta are 27 and 30 (29 when you signed him) respectively. Which one, Henderson or your two have a longer 'sell by date'?

2) The stats don't lie. If you replace RVP with a 10-15 goal a season man (which you might be doing now), last season you would have finished much lower. So don't throw stones in your glass house.

3) Neither of your new cut-price strikers (Giroud and Podolski) have ever shined on the big-stage. Podolski failed at Bayern a few years ago and Giroud looked good for one season in the French League before being shipped off - I doubt most of your fans had heard of him before you signed him.

Jolly Red

What exactly was the point in that post?! Get back on your own site while we support our team and get behind the manager and next season, we will prove you wrong.
Podolski is only any good at international level, after failing at the one big club he's been at and going back to FC Koln.
Giroud has had one good season in an average league at best. Last season your signings, e.g. Gervinho, were rubbish, and
without RVP you'd have got nowhere. We dominated games but just couldn't score, a problem solved with the acquisition of Borini, a great finisher who is only getting better.
If we get Allen then we have, I think the most underrated player of the league last season. Again, young and only improving he will prove all his doubters wrong.

Jamo

Paddy AFC Okay for one, I apologise for any of these so called "fans" that plague your page but we are not all like this, in fact they are in a very small minority. But onto the business end of this post, twice this season we played you off the pitch, we beat you easily 2-0 dominating the 90 mins and ye had the biggest stroke of luck to get a result in Anfield after RVP produced magic for ye, but if ye think that you're gonna slaughter us you are sadly deluded, in fact I'm here sitting dying laughing. We are LFC, we are like a big family, we rock Liverpool city when we cheer on our team, you couldn't even rock the seat beside you in that library. Don't you dare come on this site and say you will slaughter us because we will have you shaking in your boots when you come to Anfield, and when we go to Emirates.

Sounds like your gona be struggling b4 liverpool then ha ha spurs all the way

Paddy your boys will certainly have to play better than last year when we played you off the park home and away. RVP stole the points for you at Anfield with 2 great finishes totally against the run of play but he wont be there to save you this season. Looking forward to taking the 6 points already.

Like you did at the emeraite's (spelling) last season

Phaha, at least our best players want to stay. Look how many Liverpool players got into the England team. We've won 2 cups since your last one. We've won the champions league 5 times the most sought after trophy at club level, you have never won it. Players can be legends at lfc, the only one you ever had was Henry. You all hate your manager but pretend to like him, hes a failure now and you know it. Do I need to slate your beloved club anymore? Liverpool have won a total of 65 trophies courtesy of Wikipedia...the most successful club in England ahh feels good sitting at the top...still ahhaa

Calm down calm down, failures you say? This coming from someone who supports a club that hasn't won a trophy for 7 yrs? In that time we've won 3. Never mind though in years to come when ur grandchildren ask you about all the trophys u won u can tell them not many, but we only spent buttons compared to Liverpool and we qualified for the champions league(even though we can't compete with the best teams in it) ha. Slate us at ur peril, we've had a rough ride the last half a dozen yrs with owner issues and whatever and now things are on the up and the reds will be back once again no doubt about it.

RVP has just signed up to star alongside Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas in a remake of the classic football film "Escape to Victory!"

Haha hardly trashing on your site it's retaliation to Eddie and im sick of it. Maybe only 5% of you are like him but it's those r*****s who cause hatred of your club. By brother is LFC and he is like Eddie. Unfair I know but if you notice the original post is adressed to Eddie not LFC fans in general.

Paddy

Hey ed's, both sky and bbc are suggesting Andy Carroll doesn't not want to leave, and will not accept perminant move. If this is the case, why is Rodgers so insistent on him leaving ? Surely he can adapt, as he's proven towards the end of last season ?
Thanks. Much appreciated
Harry from Nottingham.

Players who hang about ruin own carrer and atnosphere at club.Serves no one any purpose hanging around(right or wrong

Hey Harry m8 we don't know wot been sed or wot Rogers thinks ,I hope that he wants to stay and wants to show us wot he all about ,maybe just maybe this wot BR wants players who fight and give 110% ,could be kick up arse ,who really knows
YNWA. Lfc linc

When has Rodgers said he wants him to go?.. I have yet to hear/see or read anywhere that Rodgers says he wants to sell Carroll.. what he said was.. every talented player will get linked to other clubs and for some players it suits them to go on loan.. This is all newspapers and NUFC/WHU driven waffle.
Rodgers said every player will be given the opportunity to impress.. Carroll, Hendo, Gerrard, johnson, Downing etc are all Still on Holiday from the Euros..
Obv if someone is going to offer us ridiculous sums of money for ANY player then the Manager/FSG are going to listen.. Doesnt mean we will sell tho
ItsNotRocketScience

What adaptation are u talking about....he can only score from head....and BR..style is just opposite..should have never bought him...35 mill....? does the money come cheap..kenny..took us from a mess and left again in the same mess...

A permenant move would mean a drop in wages, but he'd happily go back to Newcastle on loan collecting his 80K per week with LFC picking up half the tab. looks like he's been talking to Newcastle

17 Jul 2012 17:57:21
so BR has told carroll he is not wanted yet carroll is insisting he wants to stay and fight for his place surely just on that he should be given a chance to prove his worth? im sick of liverpool buying players who show us no loyality or respect. Carroll was just beginning to prove how good he can be and to be honest is probaly better then any player BR will bring into the team. any opinions?

If he refuses to go it will be interesting to see who's still at the club at the end of the season?

Totally agree mate, see a lot of people come on here saying bring back Torres, he chose to leave but big andy on the other hand wants to stay and fight for his place at this club, his commitment alone deserves a chance to show Brendan what he's got, it's refreshing to see somebody who actually wants to stay and fight for they're place

I agree.
Rather have players who want to be here than players who do not.

LiverBird

I agree. cant believe the way the br is treating him. not a good start for br in my opinion.

17 Jul 2012 17:57:18
After aresenal rejected a 20mil offer for walcott by chelsea, how big ist the chance we will buy him ?
If we get 20mil for caroll see you another 20mil class player come in ? Maybe walcott ? or would a 20mil sell nothing change ? Still buy cheaper players like dempsey ? And what are the chance of signing berbartov ?
Thx YNWA

Not worth 20million mistake by any one to pay that

17 Jul 2012 17:56:28
Heard rumours last summer we were looking at Vaclav Kadlec from Sparta, would be a great signing for us, any news on this from before? {Ed002's Note - No.}

17 Jul 2012 17:55:05
Hi eds do we still have interest in tello he would be great down the left I think with r Spanish style of play {Ed002's Note - I don't see Tello making the move this summer.}

17 Jul 2012 17:49:08
Most so called Liverpool fans should actually take the time to read the quote that started this from BR, in that he would consider loaning any Liverpool player out if it was to the long term benefit of the player and the club. AC doesn't want to go anywhere which he has stated twice now and as BR hasn't even seen sight of him on the training ground as he's on holiday he also stated that he would take pre season to decide on the squad that kicks off the campaign. Let the rumour mill gather pace as we've no actual football to concentrate on as yet, lets face it it was headline news yesterday that AC hadn't travelled with the squad because of his imminent departure, rather than the truth that he was still on his jollies! In Liverpool I trust

danny s

With other managers making statements about him (Pardew) I'm affraid it doesn't look to good.
Shame as almost everyone I speak to, and thats all clubs think he is going to have a big season this year.

At last.. someone with ears that actually listen! Couldnt agree more Danny S
ItsNotRocketScience

That was disgraceful reporting from sly yesterday. Nothing short of sensationalist propaganda to s*** stir at LFC's expense.

17 Jul 2012 17:47:03
Hi Eds, I don't often ask a question in the main thread but with Barcelona actively looking for a centre back and Mascherano having covered at the back for them a lot this season, do you think this would push him towards a Barca exit? I'm not saying we'd get or even try to get him but just can't see him wanting to be a squad player. {Ed002's Note - No.}

17 Jul 2012 17:45:32
Afternoon eds fellow reds ,feel very unsure about Rodgers at the moment .i think andy Carroll will be the best English striker in the country by the time he is 26 , just because Rodgers playing style worked for a season ,why does he think it will work for us . All the teams in the last 20 years that have won the league didn't play tika taka football ,the only team that play that way are the arsenal .great to watch WIN fock all. Think we're going down the wrong path .if its the best way why doesn't Mancini , fergi, mourhino, Harry play that way cheers psv

M8 every manager has there own style and way ov doing things ,Liverpool did very well years ago playing pass and move ,I'm sure it will take time ,arsenal play sum good stuff ,try not to think to hard about how we going to play ,let's try and c it first and watch to c over a season how it goes ,not a dig at you but there two many ov us thinking to deeply into this whole style thing.let's sit bk and enjoy

Erm aresnal have won the league in the past 25 years. And have you watched some of fergies better teams in the last 20 years? They're pretty fluid.

17 Jul 2012 17:40:45
around anfield istha liver pool has agreed to sign Allen from swansea for 12.5 million

Believe me the staff at Liverpool know less than the people on here. The current rumours among them concern Dempsey and Allen and they only know those from newspaper reports. RED LENIN

who do we think will replace big andy!! it will have to be a good player imo, as the fans(myself included) will not be happy with dempsey. It's going one of these so called marquee type players!!

whats your realistic thoughts eds!

i know brendans family so i get the odd bit off news but sure its all rumours lol.

Ed,s

Would it be possible we will go after Ramirez after the Olympic football tournament is over.
Can't see us playing 20 million for him before the tournament in case he gets injured. {Ed002's Note - If there is suddenly interest from Liverpool and he has not signed for anyone else, possibly.}

17 Jul 2012 17:25:50
Hi Ed's,

Alot of people currently talking about who is coming in during the transfer window but this whole Carroll saga has got me wondering who else could be on their way out and where to?

Have you guys heard anything and if so how credible are the stories?

Cheers,

Why don't we pick up Ronaldinho on a free transfer? He has still got the talent to play in the premier league if you ask me! Thanks {Ed019's Note - Age & Wage}

Eds you missed weight to go with age an wage ;-)

Suarez might appreciate there being someone with bigger gnashers than him though.

Hi eds can you clear things up... I read that Liverpool can sign Swanseas allen if another teams bid is accepted and Liverpool match or equal it... Stirrudge will sign not keen but that's what I'm hearing in northern Ireland.

Also I posted a borini song on Sunday morning can u retrieve it and post it as I said it's a catchy tune..

That song was awful. Leave it where it is Eds

Chelsea ins:

Marco marin
Eden hazard
Oscar
Hulk or Cavani

Spurs:

Verthogen
Gylfi
Moutinho(likely as modric is leaving)

Arsenal:

Giroud
Podolski

Manu:

Kagawa
Powell

All quality players, but what about our club liverpool,

Borini
Allen(likely)
Dempsey(likely)

I dont know when next we can challenge for 4th place.....mayb v r a top 6 club now and no longer part of top 4.

I agree with you mate.....................from a fans point of view....liverpool havent even tried to bring in a top quality signing....and thats what annoys me the most..its like we are settling for less

Spurs outs: Modric, Adebayor

Arsenal outs: Van Persie

Liverpool outs: Kuyt

BthekingB

Chelsea haven't signed hulk oscar OR cavani yet, kagawa powell giroud and podolski, by no means sure fire hits, if you can't see borini's potential, or the fact that signing allen would be a masterstroke, go and support chelsea, they've got loads of demanding plassy fans like you
ant

The trouble is to many people are hung up on what some say are "world class " signings.

at the end of the day stars are born at liverpool.

look at newcastle last season , they were close to getting champs league. But no doubt you would have pulled your face at some of there signings last summer.

look at how swansea played man city off the park. city full of "world class " players.

LAVERS

Chelsea- Abramovich money. Enough said.

Spurs- Haven't spent much at all in the past few years and are likely going to sell Modric for a tidy bundle.

Arsenal- I believe they are a profitable club. They also haven't spent a ton of money lately and they pretty clearly need replacement(s) for RvP.

ManUtd- Actually think they may be hurting a bit next year depending on what happens. Two decent signings but I don't know if it will be enough for them, although am sure they will make 1 or 2 more before the window closes. I'm sure their fans feel somewhat like us watching Chelsea and City make pricey acquisitions.

LFC- We've lost a fair bit of money the last few years and it's pretty unlikely we're going to be dropping another £100M into the squad. So, we're after value for money and possibly some bigger names in if we sell a few players.

Top 4 will be tough, but it's not unachievable by any means. Bringing in expensive players doesn't mean a team will be amazing automatically and conversely bringing in players of lesser status does not mean success will not come.

Maybe you should have listed departing/departed players from these teams aswell.
If you think the likes of Hazard, Vertonghen, Kagawa - As impressive as each of them are in their own right - Are just going to hit the floor running, think again.
They are all coming from weaker leagues, and from teams who play to their strengths. If you think the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd will pander to these players and change the way they play to fit them in your very mistaken.

Football is a team game, remember this, and a team is only as strong as its weakest link. Maybe the players we bring in aren't star names who you will want on the back of your shirt, but I believe Rodgers is a manager who understands what we require TEAMwise to push on.

Pathetic post, arsenal - podolski & giroud, whoopee doo, man utd - kagawa & powell, same again, spurs - vertonghen & sigurdsson, ditto, chelsea - ditto, why are you so concerned about others ? borini is class and you will soon eat humble pie , oh, and the window does not close until 31 august and alslo joe allen had best pass rate in europe last season, but then again he ain't a glamorous foreigner so in your eyes he'll be useless,

17 Jul 2012 17:16:37
How many more players do you think we will buy this transfer season? 2 or more?

2 maybe 3. probably depends on players leaving.

And you heard this where - was it in the media - or from an interview with BR or FSG - rumours, rumours, rumours.

Does anyone take Rogers Seriously?

I can't hope he goes quickly

And P*ss off with the give him a chance BS
and forget the go support city mantra its boring.

Rogers will be to lfc as Eddie the eagle was to his sport

Rogers deserves as much chance maybe less than Roy did at least Roy achieved some things!

Don't let the brand of football Rogers plays lull you into his appointment was brilliant mode, it won't be and we'll suffer next season.

His exciting players we'll see.

Nice to see our supportive fans.

Get a F****** grip!

No wonder you are bored with the go support City mantra with this rubbish you've posted, no doubt you've heard it many times before, maybe it's time you asked yourself why people keep saying to you? Now go and support Man City!

ed, just a quick question. would it be possible to do a registration to post but still free to read version of this site or would it cost too much to make. if you have to pay to register then maybe it could be like a pound a month and that money goes straight to charity with a new charity being chosen every month or couple of months that way people who need help from charities get it and you get rid of the trolls. I know you ed's dont like the idea of taking peoples money but that way it goes to something good. if any of you other posters (e.g chris in tamworth, puzzled, blair mayne etc) agree then hit the agree button and lets see some support for the eds.
huddz red {Ed002's Note - We will be looking to do something.}

If people are gonna disagree then please give a reason why this isn't a decnt try to get rid of trolls. huddz red

Unfortunately posters who are in other countries and may not have the means the pay in anyway will suffer from something like that, good idea though..
Perhaps have a form where you can give charity at will?
RedSox69

Praise the lord, too many muppets on here who spoil it for the majority

Perhaps the answer is to have it open forum to read, but you must regoster (free of charge) to post and register using a 'genuine' e-mail not a hotmail or gmail address. On registration you create a unique user name and from then on there will be no 'anon's and evryone will quickly get to recognise everyine else. RED LENIN

You'll end up with about 12 posters and the website would be dead. the none abusive good humoured trolls add to the webpage in my view

I'm not paying to read people moan mate.
I do think it should be free to register though and you can only post if you register.
Its not as extreme as your solution but I am sure 90% of the abuse will go away overnight.
Not many trolls are going to register again everytime they get banned.

MIKEY

To the poster above mikey, there are NO good humoured trolls, trolls are people who roam the net being complete knobheads writing abusive thing to people and generally being a waste of space. if you think their 'humour' is good natured your sadly mistaken. my point was basically like i said and someone else said was to have a free registration for posters but if it costs something to change the site to do that then maybe a small payment could be charged and that money could go to charity. decent people do not deserved to be abused when providing a completely free service and giving us info way before the madia get it. i have been on this site since it was football rumours and we had to put up with rainfishtrombone and the likes, it sad to see fellow people who supposedly support liverpool football club act this way.

as it looks as Carroll is surplus to requirements I guess we are trying to get him sold, as according to his agent is not in Brendan's immediate plans, I like many other Liverpool fans are very worried we are getting left miles behind the mancs the chelski spuds and gooners and even Newcastle , is there anything bright over the horizon in big signings something that will really excite are fans? if borini is that marque signing then we won't finish anywhere near the top 4 money talks in football and that's the only way to get top top players if we can't compete then I'm afraid we may be doomed for another long season, I agree to trust Brendan but we all agree we need a top striker more pace in the side which we lack, please please give me hope!

Can some one tell me how you know this, is it because it was in the newspaper because newspapers tell lies. Were you there, did you hear Brendan Rodgers say this? Was it a live interview. I do not get it.

Hi eds
I have heard that if Walcott Leaves Arsenal Arsenal will then move for Sturridge as his replacement. The fee Arsenal are looking at for Walcott is in the region 12m. I dont think we will be looking at Walcott for that fee myself. Arsenal are determined to keep him as they dont want to lose him and RVP in the same season

There are some rumours that chelsea have offered Torres and Sturridge as a straight swap for RVP and Walcott

Hey eds, any transfers this summer? Just kidding. Not sure how you guys put up with the same questions over and over. Just a simple question from me: if we do perchance sign Allen or Dempsey this week, would they automatically go to North America to join the tour, or is the list of players final for the tour? Just curious as I will be at one of the games.

Cheers,

Coop {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

Wouldnt think it would be a problem for new signings to be added to the tour party, its pre season, br would need to be assessing the whole squad (- the Olympic boys) and building up fitness, and getting everybody gelling..

I think if it has been decided that Andy is to be a 'plan b or 2nd choice' for the season, he should be sold now, especially that his shares are up, a good end to the last season and fair Euro tournament.

Agreed.

Too many fans on here are saying that we need to keep him as a plan-b option. IMO, plan-b options should not be £35m strikers. If he doesn't fit the bill according to BR, then sell him now, cut the loses, and buy someone new who the manager will actually have confidence in using. Whether the fans agree or not.

If Dempsey comes I weill support him because he is wearing the LFC shirt but I hopw we're not heaping too much expectation on his head based on one decen season. Prior to 2011-12 his strike/conversion rate was average to poor.

Redpath

Dempsey in his alleged poor seasons scored more premier league goals than adam Henderson and Downing put together did last season.
whats with all this negativity about the signings why do we need to pay mega money before we are happy with a potential signing. Or a big name eg Morientes. David Moyes signed Jelavic 5.8m look what a success he was lets just back the manager and the players to the hilt and if things need to be changed at the end of next season i am sure they will

The ticket office & customer services numbers a computer answers and tells you they're busy..
Anyway i still haven't purchased any tickets, some tips for next time would be helpful
Thanks

It's only the family tickets/dad and lad ones on sale today. This was just the upper away end that was on sale, seemed to have good availability when I checked at 2pm.

I'm waiting for friday when they go on sale for members.

If your weren't buying adult/child tickets today, the best advice I can give you is apply for a ticket on the correct day.
All adult tickets for home games go on sale on Thursday from 0815 am.

Taken from a Newcastle Blog Site:

Some things are just perfect. Selling a guy to Liverpool for £35m after only playing three-quarters of a Premier League season, and then finishing above them in the league with their new signing having very little impact, is probably as close as perfect can get when it comes to football. The cherry on top of it all sees Newcastle United coming back in for Carroll in a cut price deal and the player himself, refusing to talk to any other club other than his homeland team. Liverpool: stuck in a rut, much?
The manager who signed Andy in the first place has since been sacked and replaced by a coach who loves to pass the ball around, and have his team play a very fluid type of football. Inevitably, Andy won't see much playing time in this new system, and Brendan Rodgers has already admitted that he is open to the possibility of the £35m man leaving Anfield.

West Ham were linked, but the man in question didn't want a move to Big Sam's side, and can you blame him? It really would be a fall from grace after signing for a record fee, only to find yourself playing with a newly promoted side a year later, that could well go right back down to the Championship again.

If ever a transfer move was written in the scripts – it's Andy Carroll returning to Newcastle United and finding his form again, form that caught Kenny Dalglish's eye enough to splash out seven times what Barcelona parted with for a certain Diego Maradona many years ago.

A loan move had been suggested by NUFC but Liverpool quickly refused any such offer, however they did indicate that a permanent deal could still be arranged. The much talked about potential fee is expected to be in the region of £17m.

A little bit steep for a guy who far from impressed at Anfield to put it mildly.

Realistically, I would be looking to secure a deal of around £13m + Xisco. We can offer cash up front, so no installments over 48 months or performance related add-ons. What we'll offer is what you'll get – straight into the bank account ready for spending.
If West Ham were to loan him, finances would be something of a delicate matter and I'm sure Liverpool would just like to get rid and move on as quickly as they can.

Personally, I would love to see Andy back at St.James' Park pulling on the Black and White stripes. He's still a Geordie, and has a lot to offer. You don't turn into a poor footballer in a few months – Andy just needs proper service and a bit of encouragement, something that he most certainly did not get at Liverpool.

£17m is a tad high for my liking and with Mike Ashley officially in charge of the deal, I don't think we'll dish out that type of cash for him. A maximum fee of £14m could sway the deal and before the start of the Premier League campaign, we could well have Big Andy back on Tyneside after a remarkable 12 months for all parties concerned.

The time has come to bring Andy home, but for the right fee, and for the right wages. He won't be given £75,000 a week at NUFC, probably half that but somehow I don't think Carroll will get too caught up on the aspect of wages; he just wants a return home, and fast.

Do what's right Liverpool – let the lad leave for a reasonable fee and move on.

Comments welcome as always folks

Do whats right and let him leave? ok give us the money back then, how about you do whats right

I would rather BR let him leave on a 6 month loan, if we are struggling for goals then recall him. BR might have his idea of how he wants us to play but until he knows the players inside out he won't know what style best suits our current squad because as everyone knows, we don't have millions to spend so he has to work with what he's got. I just want Liverpool challenging for 4th, don't care what style they play to get there

I would not sell him to any club for less than 20 mill but the geordies i wud add at least 5 mill more onto that , i live in the toon and the geordies r right miserable tight arsed bunch and they r always going on about finishing above us last season not that it happens often i soon shut them up though just by saying when was the last time u won a trophy.......steve ynwa

Not surprisng that your idea of perfection does not involve winning a trophy. Reality Red

You over acieved last season and we under achieved? Don't get too carried with your-selves you know it always ends in tears eventually.
kidmillions

I'm actually embarrassed for this blogger. Newcastle finished above us for one season - they won't next season nor for the foreseeable future I'm sure. Yet they want us to give our record signing to them for a cut down price as well as their worst player. I've a counter-offer for this buffoon. £35m + Cole, Aquilani, Downing and Adam. A good deal for all concerned.

anybody, If we sell carroll, bellers has chosen to leave for Cardiff and Rodgers plays 4-3-3 surely we'd need more than the 4 in that Macca is expecting? I know Macca isnt sure about the 4th player but he will have to be another attacker wont he? Even with 4-4-2 we're short in key areas!

If we buy Dempsey from Fulham to add to Suarez, Borini, Downing and Sterling surely we'll still be as short as last season in the attacking areas!?!?! We would be bringing in 2 players to replace 4 in Carroll, Bellers, Maxi and Dirk. Things just dont seem right?

We will also have potentially 7 central midfield players if we sign Allen what the f is going on there? I know its still early in the window and our business hasnt really started yet but its worrying me!

I don't agree with the way Andy Carroll is being forced out of Liverpool! SSN are reporting that Carrolls representatives have said he does not want to leave Liverpool on a permanent transfer, but will consider a loan move since he does not fit into Brendan Rodger's and Liverpool's immediate plans.

I don't understand why Brendan wants to get rid of him before he has even had a chance to see him train, unless Liverpool have told him he has no choice in the matter and Carroll is going.

I hope if he is to leave on loan it should be a short term loan which will give him chance to prove himself, and come back for the second half of the season.
If he leaves on a permenant transfer then i hope he bangs in 25 goals this season to teach Liverpool a lesson.
Kenny Dalglish could see the potential in carroll and i feel he will become a world class player with which ever club gives him a proper chance!

Rogers is not the king

Somebody tell me again

What are the credentials of Rogers to manage LFC

Ranga moon

I think FSG would have told BR that he must sell to buy. So surely it's best to sell the players that do not support your system.

Disney!

BR's credentials, he has never wasted over £100m on ...........................

As much as I like Carroll I don't mind seeing him go, if Rodgers doesnt see him fitting to his style. The same way when Ibrahimovich was at Barcelona, he's a world class player but didn't fit the style.
The way I see it is, the team has to be built around someone to get the most out of them. Would you rather build a team around Carroll which is the direct approach of him nodding them in or building it around Suarez which is the pass and move style.

I know what I'd prefer. Suarez is obviously the better player out of the two, and suits Rodgers better.

Red Raw

I'm a firm believer in what Brendan Rodgers wants to do, if a player is on huge wages and isn't performing why have them in your squad? I think Andy Carroll will be a great player when he is older but for me he is far from the finished article, i remember being at the Swansea game in Anfield and Andy missed a simple chance hitting the crossbar, it was shocking, he's just not good enough and wont fit into the way Rodgers wants to play its as simple as that. Fair enough he did well in the last few games of the season but the season has 40+ games, his goal return was shocking, we paid £35m for him remember, and in my eyes with that £35m Newcastle got in 4 or 5 players that are far better, one on a free transfer (Demba Ba) and two strikers that scored more goals than Carroll, Cisse i think scored 11 goals in less than 6 months... Do we want to win and get into the Champions League here or are we just gonna accept average players that cant adapt to a different style of play? Seriously, people need to start realising what we want to do here, i'm fed up listening to garbage, missing out on "targets" and getting rid of "talent". We used to be great you know, and we wanna get back there fighting at the top, we dont wanna fight for scaps like some people on here seem to be happy with.

Indian Red {Ed002's Note - I have no idea at all.}

Assuming you mean Suso, Robinson, and to a lesser extent Coady since I didn't see much of him, I'd say they were 'good'.

Suso has a great (and very accurate) passing range and plays with his head up pretty well. My only criticism is he seems to either be kinda slow or perhaps a bit lazy on defense.

Robinson did a fine job, but he did get caught out a number of times by one of the French wingers (can't remember who he was, but he was pretty fast) and beat for a cross. He also took a few free kicks and put them in very nicely into the box- hadn't realized this was part of his game so was a bit surprised by that.

Coady I didn't see much of so can't really comment.

Just my opinion based on the few games I watched, am sure others on here have seen them all play more than I, though.

I think BR will really be able to do something with Suso. His kind of player. Raheem Sterling as well. I can see them both featuring quite a bit this year.

17 Jul 2012 15:48:15
Sorry for the big post, just been playing with some numbers concening what LFC need to do for C/L qualification.
4th placed team has had between 68 and 70 points in past 3 seasons. So take 70 points as target.

How to get 70 points in the current league?
19 home games; 6 biggies (2 mancs, 3 londons, everton) and 13 others
19 aways: the 6 biggies and 13 others

In 2011/12 we got 52 points: 27 home (w6, d9, l4), 25 away (w8, d1, l10)

First assessment:
The most achievable split to get up to 70 would be 43 home & 27 away points (+/- a couple either way)

43 home could be:
8 points from the 6 biggies (w2 / d2 / l2)
35 points from the other 13 (w 11 / d2)

27 away could be:
5 points from 6 biggies (w1 / d2 / l3)
22 points from others (w5 / d7 / l1)

Is this feasible?
8 points from the big 6 home games – yes, we got 9 last year
35 points from 13 other homes games – this is the big challenge, we got 18 points from these last year. We need to win nearly every one of these, no mistake. Return of fortress anfield is the key!

5 away points from biggies –yes, we got 9 last year so should be achievable, but doubt we can rely on winning 3 of these like last year
22 points from 13 other aways – should be possible if we stop losing so much against lower teams and at least get draws

Implications for playing style.
BR's already said he wants to dominate at home, all out attack and dominate possession & territory. Should go a long way to improving things. The key will be can we take our chances? Pretty sure that we need at least one more proven finisher who fits in the BR system, ie not AC! Dempsey may be the man, 4th in prem goals last year, maybe another goalscoring midfielder to support SG.
Away we need to become much harder to beat, again keeping the ball and making it hard for the oppo to get momentum

Can we do it?
I think the 2 mancs and Chelsea have set the standards with their squads and recent results. Can't see any of them not being top 3. And we also have strong competition from spurs & arsenal…but this is not an impossible target, even for 2012/13…can't wait to see how BR sets about this…
accept for can do

Rather an idle speculation. The points tally changes year of year and last year it was high to get into the top 4.
What LFC need to do is very simple. They need to sort out first and formost the dire home form and they need to get wins from the games they dominated last season but got draws. To achieve this they need to overcome the biggest weakness of last season which was an inability to score goals. BR aims to play passing, direct football. So too did King Kenny. LFC has a great record of chances and shots last season, but a dreadful conversion record.

They need at least two out and out 20 goal plus a season strikers. While I love the bone sof Suarez he is very wasteful. Carrol has the power to get 20 a season, but it is unlikely in the current team.

someone asked earlier on if we are looking at the number 17 playing for Spain Under 19s and you said that you dont think there is any interest. My question is, if liverpool are still a global competing force, why arent we looking at such players?

If Allen was good enough to play for liverpool, he would have done so long time ago. I fear mediocrity under FSG... These were the same people who backed a brilliant move for Suarez (world class) and then spent equal money on Henderson, Downing and even more on Caroll. Isnt it time someone with a footballing head came in at the top and told them the difference between oranges and ...meatloaf! aka football director like cruyf perhaps.....

YNWA

Hopefully FSG have appointed someone with a footballing head... AKA Rodgers, maybe he impressed them enough with his knowledge and vision of how to take the team forward. You can have as many football brains as you like in the club, just as long as the guy picking the team week in week out is one of them.. Swansea really impressed last year... lets hope the man can take it further with Liverpool, and give him our support while he's trying to do so!

Ed002 what would your opinion be if liverpool were to sign mirallas for 6.4 million as that is his buyout clause amount ? would you rate him as a bargain or a good buy ? great site , fergie falkirk

17 Jul 2012 15:43:07
Hello Eds just seen a sky journo reporting Arsenal and us are interested in Kevin Mirallas. Any truth in it ?
Now that is a player I would love. Would cost around 6-8 million and wouldn't demand sky high wages and can play as winger/striker. Better value for money than Walcott or Sturridge.

17 Jul 2012 15:42:31
SSN reporting both Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in Kevin Miralles. I don't kmow much about him but he's been in fine form according to stats and has a buyout clause of €8.25million (£6.4million). Anyone else shed light on this, or just more speculation.

17 Jul 2012 15:41:20
Hi eds swansea have had a bid accepted for michu. There was talk about him a couple of months ago. Any liverpool interest? {Ed002's Note - Swansea have done a good job in getting hold of Michu who had previously declined several approaches.}

17 Jul 2012 15:39:13
I know player swaps are not easy to put together, but, if Demba Ba has a champions league club release clause of £7m then id tell Newcastle they can have Carroll for him and maybe some cash! Like i say, i know deals like this are next to impossible to put together but i dont see Newcastle stumping up the quoted £20m that we want for Carroll.

Anfield Andy

17 Jul 2012 15:38:12
"Sky Sports understands that both Arsenal and Liverpool have expressed an interest in Belgian star Kevin Mirallas."

Now this is the type of player we should be looking at. he is available at a right price £10m and I am sure we can outbid Arsenal. The only problem is we cannot offer CL :-(

Dear Ed's

Once again you fellows find yourselves in the midst of an epic battle between the trolls, key board warriors and the fair weather fans. Yet you keep calm and Chive On especially Ed01 and Ed02 classic posts keep it up. And to all the real LFC fans that come here and contribute constructive ideas and thoughts thank you because I believe strongly we do have the best fans not always shown favourably since the trolls are sleepless creatures. Anyway thank you for a very good sight and to date I'm pleased with the Borini signing which shows the direction we as LFC are going towards. In Brendan we Trust and LFC we live.

RED TERROR 89
{Ed002's Note - Sadly it is the real fans that are suffering now. We cannot tolerate the abuse, as you know Ed001 has all but stopped editing the Liverpool page but a few embarrassing Liverpool supporters (of the knuckledragging cretin types) will not stop - so we can but punish everyone.}

We have the best fans (that go to matches), and also many great ones that don't or can't go matches often - however, we also have some of the worst, who have never been near Anfield, and just sit at home typing utter gibberish on the internet.

17 Jul 2012 15:36:42
Shocked to keep seeing ED's get abuse for simply answering many peoples inane comments to the best of their knowledge.

This isn't a service you are paying for, they are running a great site enabling a bit of banter and discussion, without it you'd have to rely on made up stuff from the press so just be thankful there is some genuine insight here and don't shoot the messengers.

Joehoover

Thanx a bunch!
you`re the reason!
clearly the ed`s dont need, tools like you. telling them how to run their site.
run ya own site and see how long you last, eh?

to all eds.
thanx for a highly addictive and throughly entertaining site. i appreciate always, all ya work in giving us little snippets of news on all the clubs, not just lfc.

ps.
thanx a bunch ya is a tool !!!

dbadger..

They are not taking money from you the reader, I don't care if they make money from ads, I'm not about to register with the 40plus dating site so it doesn't affect me.

The sarcasm from some Ed's is not abusive, it makes for part of the appeal of the site, that you are engaging with real people with a bit of banter, some personality.

It comes down to the fact that people don't have to read this site, to disagree so vehemently to an opinion which could be as inoccuous as an ED mentioning that they don't think so and so is being looked at by the club is the problem.

It is an open forum though and you'd think people would have the intelligence to discuss any events surrounding the club reasonably, maybe listen to someone else's viewpoint and take it on board.

As someone who runs a blog and follows many others (not making a penny), we do it for the aspect of engaging with other people across the world and it's just a bit of fun, no one deserves abuse for doing it. When it's done without the people who seem to just go onto sites to create anonomosity then it's a great thing, you want to hear peoples views and opinions - that's the whole point of having this platform, but it doesn't need to cross over the line.

Hi Eds
Saw some speculation last night, ( forget which website it was on ), that BR may be interested in Defoe. Would seem a little strange cos of his age, but always thought he could have been a good punt a few years back.
U heard anything? {Ed002's Note - No.}

17 Jul 2012 15:24:09
Anyone know how true the reports are about Gokhan Tore to Lfc from Hamburg, available for around 5m euro's, would hardly be a huge gamble.
Thanks.

(Heavy sigh) I'm sure it must be horrible for the Eds, it's certainly miserable to read the comments on here at times.

It would seem we now live in a society of whiners, and spiteful abusers. It has got to the point where the continuous negativity is beginning to suck the enjoyment out of the game.

I would love us to sign an exciting, world class player or 2, but at the end of the day...I don't care who we sign.

I don't care that Cavani, Ramirez, Jovetic, scooby, shaggy, fred, velma and daphne ..yadda yadda ...are not joining us.

I just hope Brendan can get us playing fast, precise, attractive, penetrative, EXCITING football.

Creating chances, scoring goals, missing chances, getting close, crossing the line, stumbling at the final hurdle. That's football.

That will put a smile on my face.

Kez {Ed002's Note - Actually Yadda Yadda is available at the right price.}

Yadda Yadda was linked with Arsenal and PSG, I don't think we can match them for wages or Champions League football. That's why were in decline...............

Hey ed's....Carrol has been named in the American tour squad of 34 members.....so can we imagine that Carrol is staying??

17 Jul 2012 15:21:25
Hi eds, is Theo a genuine possibility? Would surprise me as I don't see him at disciplined enough to play in a Rodgers team plus he is too one dimensional. Also what do you think of the Joe Allen rumour? He is a tidy enough player but don't we already have too many midfielders?
Thanks YNWA {Ed002's Note - Read the posts.}

17 Jul 2012 14:59:39
Hi Eds - just wondered with NUFC's policy of strictly controlling wages, do you think Andy Carroll would be expected to take a pay cut to return? (Can't see it personally) Or do you think they would pay him the £80k a week I've heard we are paying him? (can't see that either tbh). Either way it looks unlikely to me whether they pay the £20 mil we are allegedly asking for or not. JimK {Ed002's Note - I have absolutely no idea.}

17 Jul 2012 14:56:40
Gahhddd, just read a post saying 'another player we've missed out on' regarding Gaston Ramirez.

A little research and knowledgeable information will tell you that this summer, under Brendan Rodgers, we weren't interested in the guy!

Yes we have scouted him in the past, and kept tabs on him for a while, but it does not mean we have 'failed' in signing him! We simply didn't as much as attempt to sign him. So get a grip and stop being so negative.

I can guarantee you Rodger's has a number of targets in place and will most likely succeed in signing his priority targets if all goes well, so if your gonna post something, post a normal question.

Not a rumour more of a question....Did we give Newcastle £35 Million up front or did we arrange for payments over a period of time. Just wondering if we are about to lose a huge amount of money or we paid an initial payment and now we are going to recoup some of that cash ??

Great site by the way

We did not pay newcastle anything. negotiations were between chelsea and newcastle after the chavs enquired about torres and liverpool told them they could have torres if we get carroll and 15 million. {Ed002's Note - There were no negoitiations between Chelsea and Newcastle over the transfer of Andy Carroll.}

17 Jul 2012 14:54:50
Liverpool are looking to complete a deal for Walcott many slate him including me but the last season he has proven to be a worthy outlet for Arsenal I say come on Brendan sign him up!

17 Jul 2012 14:41:16
Liverpool will try to sign Alonso after Modric deal with Real Madrid is complete, also looks likely that Adam will be sold.

Newcastle are offering 17 million for Carroll also.

Hi Ed's - Walcott to Liverpool seems to be gathering pace. A lot of journalists genuinely feel there is something in this. I for one would be pleased to welcome him! He young, pacey and has an eye for goal. Yes, he is erratic but tell me a winger that isn't...?

17 Jul 2012 14:38:46
Hey why not.. Cavani may want to join up with his friend and we are a big club with world class players such as Gerrard Suarez Agger Lucas... Dont think it wud be out of the question.. Henry and Fenway have been known to pay mega bucks deals for Redsocks players! These guys are winners and if they want to be the best they know they have to go for the best. Cavani wud be ideal in a front three of Suarez Cavani Borini in front of Gerrard Allen and Lucas in mid!

They would pay over 35 mil for him, not happinin mate

Those people who bang on about how we sclued players from small clubs in the past need to realise times haave changed. In those times there werent any foreign players, just mainly mediocre british players. These days theres players like aguero and silva etc. If you want proof that the old way doesnt work, look no further than Adam and Downing.

I honestly athink that our past teams that used to win the league would probable finish fifth or sixth in the current league. And you need to realise this and not go with what your heart says.

Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany, Leighton Baines, Kyle Walker, Coloccini, Scott Parker, Gareth Bale and Van Persie all made the PFA team for the 2012 season - who was the most expensive player out of that? Without looking it up I wouldn't have thought any of them cost over £8m when they were bought.

Reina, Skrtel, Agger, Lucas all bought for not much money and are some of our most important players.

Cisse, Tiote and Cabaye at Newcastle.

It's not all about spending big on players, it's about picking them up before they become star players.

JRG

Who do you think our MEDIOCRE players were playing in Europe? Maybe top European players? I don't think we did too bad!

Im not talking about the price payed, but that its unrealistic yo think we should buypeople from league 1 clubs. And all of those examples were from premier league clubs and werent inknown

And i meant the league was made of mediocre players but we had all the good british players. And you know how we arein Europe!

{Ed002's Note - Last night, I am not aware. They showed interest some weeks ago. Sadly the abuse and "Andy will never" leave brigade stopped any further explanation. Sadly that is the way it is now. Try and explain about this - abuse. Try and explain about the South Americans that have been looked at - abuse. Explain the Borini fee to stop misadventure - abuse.}

Hi Ed002 in response to the above, can i ask for an emailed explanation on the above. I wouldnt mind having information on the south americans, i do know about the Borini fee, but i would be most curious to get the your official opinion on the AC situation. To be honest it sickens me that a repituable source like yourself cannot give the information us fans crave due to some keyboard warrior shouting at the screen. Sorry that you guys have to endure this sort of nonsence. I understand that this may not be possible and i wouldnt be looking at copying and pasting your reply on the site lol.

A curious Quigz23

{Ed002's Note - My opinion on Carrol is that he will leave but not to AC Milan or on loan, but either to Fulham or, more likely, back to Newcastle. A player could possible move to Liverpool as part of that deal.}

Eds is the player likely to be Demba Ba ?
Just hope Newcastle are stupid enough to offer us BEN ARFA.

We will.....because we also have Suarez

cozinoz

Difficult to compare really as you'll probably be looking at a front 2 at Newcastle, Carroll-Cisse as opposed to a front 3 at Liverpool, maybe Dempsey-Borini-Suarez.
I'd be more happy with ours to be honest

Chris in Tamworth

Suarez borini dempsey
vs
carroll ba cisse

If you had a choice between just Suarez - or Ba, Cisse and Carroll - which would you take?

Suarez in a heartbeat for me. One of the best players in the World.

BJH YNWA (Even if they threw in Ameobi I wouldn't agree - lol)

To all of the above i am a massive liverpool fan but if we sold ac back witch will be a massive mistake then newcastle will have the best strike force by a mile borini who mid table demsey and yeah the great suarez but cant do it him self and who says he will be still here

daglish was told he must get champions league football i hope rodgers has been told the same.with his potential signings we have got no chance.when he breezed into our club he said everyone will get a chance. he should have said everyone but andy carroll will get a chance.swansea had a great season and finished 11th and we are after there players it just says it all out of his depth
tonywebbo

Swansea finished 5 points behind us, we apparently had a better team, so with what BR had available to him and how he organised his team I really think we should be very optimistic , KD had is playing some fantastic footie, but we were not scoring goals, so with 3/4 additions to the squad I really think we're going to put in an excellent season.
I have said all along that if we had got 10/15 more goals we would of finished in a champion league spot.
So stop your whining and get behind BR and his squad.
Also like to add , I will be gutted to see big Andy go, could be a top player, he can change a game and his best is yet to come

kevc

Go "support" a different club, your wanting us to fail so we can sack our manager honestly words fail me well words that I can post on here anyway.

LG

'We are after their players it just says it all' - No it doesn't. It doesn't say anything at all actually. It says Rodgers will look to bring a FEW players he's already worked in to improve a TEAM. He isn't trying to buy Swansea and put them in Liverpool shirts. Plus, so what if he buys a player from a team who finished 11th?! If the player is good and he will improve the general ethos then WHO ACTUALLY CARES where the player came from?!

JP.

Tony, why even bother post such drivel? I mean, it's laughable it's so pathetic. You haven't a clue.

You dont get it do you? Everyone who fits into Rodgers system will get a chance - Carroll does not, he's a liability (poor touch, poor passer, poor finisher)

Not to mention he losses possession alot. That is the main reason he does not fit into BR's system.

Allen was in the top 6 players in Europe for pass completion rate last year
Dempsey was in the top 6 goalscorers in the Premier League last year
Borini was a member of the Italy squad that made the final of the Euros last month.

If only those 3 are signed it will be an improvement on last year.

Lucas is nearly back to full fitness

Gerrard was the only outstanding English player at the Euros

Plus the youngsters are pressing for places .....
Coady Suso Stirling Coates etc

The squad will be better this year. Dont Worry Be Happy

Hi Ed,

Just a quick question regarding Andy Carrol and his transfer from Newcastle to Liverpool. We all know the transfer cost Liverpool 35mil.
I just want to know how is that ussually paid to the selling club? Is it once off? or over a period?
Reason is presumably if we still owe Newcastle some of his transfer fee then that should make a transfer back to Newcastle easier than to any other club...
I still want Andy to stay at Liverpool, and I hope he does.

Thanks

I believe that the return of Lucas alone will be like a new signing. He was probably our most importatn player on the pitch at the beggining of last season and his impact was quitie noticable once he got injured and we were forced to play players out of position.
Also as am American New Englander, this place is buzzing Liverpool holding camp in boston. If clint dempsey is signed before soon that would just add to the hype..he would be a great buy, not only to add versitility and goals to the fronline but also as a moajor shirt seller here in the States, regardless of what people say, that is a big deal. Looking forward to an exciting season, BR to bring us into the world of modern football.

Ed's can you pls clarify ?

When Andy Carroll signed for us and the 35 million was agreed, do we know how much was paid up front and what we still owe? I mean, IF we sold him back to Newcastle for 20 mil I can't imagine us losing 15 million on him right ?
Or is it me being naive ? :-) Thanks. Andy {Ed002's Note - Ignore what was paid. If Carroll leaves then much needed funds will come in.}

{Ed002's Note - Ignore what was paid. If Carroll leaves then much needed funds will come in.}

I am surprised you did n't get abuse for this one .. You are absolutely right, though my understanding one time costs are not the issue (fees/commission/bonuses) etc, but there is a lot of work in reconfiguring the wage structure (players and staff) and an effort to drop operational costs.

Good afternoon fellow reds, I was just having a quick look through our Premier League fixtures for the start of the season, The two Manchester teams and Arsenal come to Anfield in the opening weeks of the season.
I'm really hoping we can get off to a good start and set the tone for the rest of the season, Our home form was awful last season and we couldn't have a tougher start. A few big performances in the opening three home matches and that will all be forgotten.
I'm really positive about Brendan Rodgers, I think he can get the best out of players and I like the system he is trying to introduce. Last season we clearly missed a goal scorer, I'm hoping Borini can bang in a few this season !
Keep the faith and be patient, Brendan Rodgers is putting together a plan to get us back where we belong!
Next season can't come quick enough!

One thing I've like since BR took over is that we've kept everything behind closed doors...no fees mentioned for players in or out, only the number speculation made up by the media.

And this is what is going on and wrong in our society today.

too many people making judgements on things/players by its cash value, rather than its physical one. eg Carroll cost £35m so he's GOT to be good straight away.

I for one am not interested in how much a player costs, rather what value he brings to the team on the pitch.

Its the clubs job to see what they can afford to spend and at the same time get the best value for money they can.

I think FSG have learnt a very valuable lesson these last 12-18 months, especially on how football works here. Its also partly the reason why commolli is not here now as they've tried it that way and seen the results, now they are trying it their way. They are going about their business quietly and diligently, rather than leaks all round.

I must say i dont believe commoli is not a bad guy, but he's not a businessman. These guys are. now they know how things work and will not have people like those cowboys ashley and Llambas take us for a ride again.

Have faith guys, don't be fooled by a price tag, rather Trust the managers judgement on players abilities.

At the same time allow FSG to use their vast business skills - their knowledge (& wealth) is far greater than we actually know - to return us to former glories...it will come

Sinner21 {Ed002's Note - Borini's transfer nor fee are not a secret.}

Good post - apart from the double negative
I agree with you

Puzzled

All this talk of behind closed doors is not entirely true i have heard about borini allen and dempsey being our first three for quite some time on this site not to hidden there simply just not shouting from rooftops

Lol puzzled... oops. should be don't or not, not both! well spotted! iphones i tell ya...!

re the fee ed, you're right to a degree. we know as you and other eds have stated on here but the mass media, they're not so clear..'undisclosed' is what most said. it's better that way, keeps the pressure off the player.

And if allen and demsey do come in for whatever fees, great. my point is that all we should be interested in what they can bring to the team with their football ability. this shouldn't be confused by the fee.

{Ed002's Note - The transfer fee was stated in a press release. It is pretty damn clear.}

four things i'd like to point out and would love to hear fellow reds replies.

- concerning the whole carroll debate. whilst he has potential, i dont see him fitting in. i also feel as if there have been a surprising amount of support for him on here when based on the majority of his performances it has been a little overwhelming. i cant help but be slightly amused when people say if we do get rid of him we should replace him for someone world class ie cavani. right now carroll isn't really even close to being world class. look at his stats from last season.

- surprised to see how many people are unimpressed with the borini signing. im excited by this player. 21, italian international, watched a bit of him and he fights and can really finish. it surprises me when people say he's a chelsea reject. he chose to let his contract run out so he could get more guarenteed playing time. understandable he couldn't quite knock dogba out of a starting position. at roma he was playing really well, starting ahead of players like bojan who was bought for a lot from barca. give the kid a chance, we got him cheap and i cant wait to see him play for liverpool.

- next, love the fact that we are linked with dempsey. im surprised that not too many people are happy about this. this guy flies under the radar. if he was english he would have a branded world class, which he is. tenacious, can play in multiple positions and knows how to find the net. fourth leading goalscorer last season in premier league. he will enhance our value in the american market and the guy still has at least three quality seasons in him. it's perfect for the likes of sterling's development. why do we need a long term replacement when we have sterling ripening. dempsey is world class and we are being linked with him. that is great.

- finally, i am really excited by the possible joe allen signing. forget gylfi. this was the guy who made the swansea team tick. he really is a class act and will only get better learning from lucas and gerrard. this guy has the potential to the future of liverpool. his composure on the ball for his age is really incredible and his passing accuracy is great.

so what do you think guys. i personally think br is on the right track. the guy is taking us forward.

jm

A few really good points there, the first one about Carroll i think your right i don't think he will fit in. For me Carroll is probably this great clubs worst transfer deal, now that is not his fault but whenever you see him play you always have his price tag in the back of your mind, if we could re coup £20m id take it, but rebuff any deal involving Ba as one of the eds suggested.
As for the transfers coming in i'd be very happy with both Dempsey and Allen, now ive not seen anything of Borini but unlike some i'm prepared to give the lad a chance.

always a red

Good points which i fully support.
the carroll issue is all tied to his fee which was fundamentally linked to the torres xfer, we need to get over that and if we can sell for around 20 M then good.

Yes, excited re Borinin. From what I've seen he has class and BR will build on this. However for me CARROL is at least a back-up Plan B! We should keep him as his best is still to come.
Love to see Allen as he would be a great asset. Let Adam definitely go and maybe Downing?
Dempsey....goes against all the parameters that FSG has previously stated!? ie too old / no sell on value....but he has put the ball in the net and that's what we missed last season.
2009 Captain

I agree with everything you have said

Thanks for the feedback. interesting hear everyone's opinions. im not too sure whether carroll could be used as a plan b. liverpool cant afford an 80k a week player as a plan b but that is just my opinion.

thanks for the feedback. always good to hear other people's thoughts. would encourage those who clicked the disagree to also reply.

Kenny gave his views to FSG in a Dalglish, honest, straight manner.
They hated it. Kenny was soon gone.

I don't think Kenny's forthright views would have any bearing on why he went. I think the final league placing, the associated stats and the inward transfers/fees meant no further reasons were necessary

The sale of a good player to a close rival is not a good strategy unless what you do with the proceeds results in a better outcome. LFC obviously need to sell to buy otherwise why would BR risk any flack with fans if thinks go poorly at the beginning of his reign. AC is unfortunate, a means to an end for BR to bring in his type of player(s). Yes, he has become a serious forward proposition but he may still be work in progress in the modern game where you want the striker to make things happen rather than wait for things to happen. As regards Lfc Fans, we have seen this before with Keane from spurs for 20m only to be sold back to them for 12m.
If NFC do get AC, I will wish him luck and will be sorry we could not afford to keep him but you never know, he could turn out to be an expensive dud like when M.Owen went there.
Beancounter

Well this is in no way intended to be a dig at Newcastle but last season notwithstanding they would not really be considered to be a rival ! My only problem with him going to Newcastle is that we don't want to look too ridiculous.
i.e. lets get as good a figure as we can .
Newcastle MUST pay substantially more than anyone else would offer. Newcastle did good business in getting £35 M for him
(and pleeease don't let me hear the rubbish about Chelsea paying for him with the Torres transfer) but now it is OUR turn to do good business (or as good as is possible given the lad's obvious limitations) so get what we can but NUFC have to beat anyone else's offer by a good margin

Puzzled

Why must Newcastle pay more than say £12m ? Did they tie Liverpools hands behind their back and steel £35M from them? ,no .Truth is Liverpool wanted to snatch Newcastles prized asset away on deadline day ,so they had to pay what ever they asked. The fact they did is not Newcastles error but theirs. The problem now is noone is going to pay more than £15m imo for him ,so they either accept that amount or have him on the bench collecting £££££££ for the remainder of his contract some 4 years is it. Any money for him funds much needed players into the club so bite the bullet and learn the lesson I say . PEACE.

PEACE I have made the point in various posts that it is not Newcastle's fault that we were stupid enough to cough up £35m for a £10-15M striker. But what I do say is if Newcastle want to really benefit (again)from the deal then they must beat ALL other offers. Fool me once - shame on you, fool me twice shame on me

Dear fellow Reds.
Let's just be patient and see what happens on the transfer front.
We can speculate all day long, but the fact is that 'certain transfers' will be pre-conditioned by other ones happening first. Sell and then buy (replace)!.
We will just drive ourselves crazy trying to work out all the potential scenarios.
In the interim enjoy the pre sesaon games, olympics etc, and trust in the Manager and the club, I kmow that's what I will be doing.
Food for thought.

I know some of you have posted this also but cannot help posting again about it when you see some of the muppets on here going on about Oxfam shopping etc...

Our club has spent big down the years but it has also went out and found young players in the lower divisions to put together some of the greatest teams in world football. Can only imagine the grief the legendary managers of the past would have got for bringing in players like Keegan and Rush.

We are rebuilding - we have a talismanic captain and some other good / very good players and it will take time. Football is goes in cycles - we are probably in a similar place to our arch rivals down the M62 in the mid 80's. Look at what happened for them - FM / CM games have a lot to answer for young fans think it's a matter of have money buy anyone - failing to remember fantasy and reality are different.

Happy to support BR, disappointed to see Carroll leave (but not the end of the world) and looking forward to a better season. YNWA

17 Jul 2012 12:45:39
F all the other crap like we need to build a team that will be great in 5 years that will not happen because all the other clubs will improve every year and we will still have a bunch of expensive mistakes. I have never been one to say throw money at the problem but if we are signing players like Demsey then things must be very bad. He is not young, not british, will have little re-sale value, Looks good in an average team. But because he is from Texas John Henry says its ok.

Such a silly post and the throwaway anti-American crack at the end summed it up.
Not everyone can or needs to be British. Not everyone can or needs to be young.
We need some experience NOW to help the youth and the foreign, new players to the premier league. Most of all we need someone who knows where the ball needs to end up. That person is Clint Dempsey

Puzzled

He scored 17 goals against all of the league while playing for an "average team." Why do you care if he's from Texas?

John CT

But he is a very good player with experience in the PL and in european competition, would give us 2-3 good seasons by which time Sterling will be ready, would not be too expensive, he would be a good option to have in the squad, and we would be able to exploit the American market. Who cares if he does not have a sell-on value, he will pay for himself, like Park did for United.

Rafa's Purple Goatie

I think last year showed what good buying British players did.

hi guys, just wanted to raise a point. how can we justify considering bidding 12 or 13 mill for joe allen, yet we wont pay this for ramirez!? WE HAVE ENOUGH CM! stop buying more and trying to put them on the wing e.g. jordan, raul meireles when here. Jayo

Therefore if Allen bought, expect some CMs to leave.

What do you mean we won;t pay this for Ramirez?

DWas Ramirez offered at this price? Have Liverpool enquired? Does the player want to move?

Shows how little you know about football when you do not have chelsea in the top eight. liverpool will finish above newcastle also definitely. stop being so pessimistic and support the team.

Can't believe Chelsea will finish 9th or lower

So Chelsea will be 9th? I wish.
Gut feel here is that 1st and 2nd will be between City and Chelsea, with us, Spurs, Utd, Arsenal and Newcastle fighting for 3rd and 4th.

You don't think chelski will finish top 8?

I also think BR will be gone if he only finishes 6, i don't see FSG accepting a finish below Newcastle or Spuds.

In my honest opinion, if we are lucky with injuries, don't have any serious issues similar to the Suarez incident last year and BR is able to get the team to gell quickly into his preferred playing style, then I think we have a realistic opportunity of pushing for 4th place. That would clasify as a very good season for me.

Fingers crossed.

All the people who come on here that are ITK, including the Eds ( no criticism at all ) - but can anyone categorically state that Liverpool Football Club have officially told Carroll he is not wanted? My understanding he is still currently on holiday, and due to go to the USA on the 23rd.

I have still to read any direct comment from LFC, normally done through the website, that AC is for sale, I can't imagine they would loan him out to a rival.

I may be wrong in assuming that the whole thing is still pure speculation generated by the media, Twitter and other teams trying to unsettle the player and getting him on the cheap. But until it's on offical website, or on interview with our current manager, then AC is and will carry on being a Liverpool player.

Lots of Swansea fans on talksh*te saying that they are happy that BR has gone, and that he only inherited a team and playing style from Martinez.

We'll see very very soon.

I am no longer in ITK of what goes on at LFC, but I am a realist and I do know that journos make up stories hoping one will come true and claim a scoop.

Is it me or are Liverpool shopping in Oxfam while other clubs are shopping in harrods. If Rodgers thinks we will sign Borini,Allen and Demsey it will make us better then he is just as deluded as Commoli with a blank cheque.

You are nuts - we are not playing FM12 here. When we signed Keegan / Rush etc... from lower league clubs I cannot imagine what you would have done to the legendary managers back then. Get a grip - unless you are a Manc and never will

Exactly who is shopping in Harrods? - Only Chelsea that I can see.

John B

Yeah it worked with keegan and rush 30 years ago for crying out loud. And that was when football was completely different to today. As Liverpool fans we need to stop talking about the past and more about the present.

All it is spotting talent before it becomes expensive , ie getting players a year or two before they are proven . we will win some and lose some . young hungry players with a resale value thats where we seem to be going

Pepe Reina has been looked at by some other clubs especially AC Milan he may only have about 1 or 2 seasons left with Liverpool before he leaves

17 Jul 2012 12:24:37
Does anyone else think our transfers are a bit mickymouse compared to chelsea, man utd, arsenal, tottenham.

That we are likely to get embarrassed come next season

It's because our finances are a bit mickey mouse when compared to Chelski, Man U, Man C and Spurs (they all have billionaire backers).

That is the reality of it!

LFC_SA

Exactly who have Utd signed - a Japanese International and an expensive 18 year old prospect.

John B

I agree the players we are linked with are second rate. The owners really don't care about football just baseball.

So the owners don't care about their £200M+ investment in the club? Be serious, they do, they just want us to be self sufficient. People on here need to get real - they're only too happy to sneer at Chelsea or City for 'buying the league' but then wish we could be just like them. Madness.

You may be embarrassed my friend, but you have already lost faith in a team that you have not seen play, under a manager you have not yet seen manage at our club.

I am embarrassed that we have fans who will not give BR an opportunity to impress.

You base your opinions on mere financial value of single players, but should recognise the potential of the TEAM together as a unit.

So that's Saurez, Carroll, Henderson, Adam,Downing, Enrique, Doni, Coates and Bellamy all gone then - wow, we are certainly in for a busy time - with other sides currently taking the p*ss out of us as far as fees are concerned - that should bring in about 60 million - and to replace them about double that.
Then BR has to blend them into a side.
Don't be sad - it just aint going to happen.

Any ideas on whether we received a fee for either Dirk or Maxi?
Totally respect the fact that LFC are not disclosing fees any more, but very frustrating for us fans who like to keep track of our net spend (as a means to defend the clubs dealings against the constant barrage of "neutrals" criticism)

Cheers {Ed002's Note - There was a small fee for Kuyt. I don't know about Maxi.}

Lol i suppose you are one of the deluded that maintains you only spent 30-40mil last season.i mean ,selling your 18ct gold chain and spending all the procedes on a harrods luxury triffel would give you a net spend of £0,00, but that doesnt matter does it,its all about the net spend after all isnt it lmao

17 Jul 2012 12:20:27
Andy Carroll - I can't see the point in losing a player to Newcastle for £15 Million.

Andy Carroll has the potential to become a world class target man given three seasons. By the age of 26 he will be in his prime, If we have already paid £35million to get him for his potential.

Then the best option would be to Hold on to his papers. Do we really need £15 million for him, we should look at him as a future player for Liverpool.

I understand that he cost £80'000 in wages, why don't Newcastle pay his wages for the year. Next season we can have another look at him, he will improve if he plays. I think it may be better for him to move to another country away from the jordi influence and help him become a more rounded person.

He is really a player who will come good on his 25th birthday. So we should keep hold of his papers and let him play for another club for while.

Exactly on his birthday? That's handy for BR. Make sure you pick him that day gaffer.

17 Jul 2012 12:14:54
Eds I havent really watched joe allen play much. Is he actually so good that we've made him such a priority and are willing to pay over 10 mill.. I remember one of the eds saying a while back that he was an okay player.. And all those people who have a problem with dempsey have to see that we cant only sign potential players we've got to buy established ones too and he is hot at the moment and will give us atleast 2 very good years

17 Jul 2012 12:10:01
i think the most likely scenerio is Allen, Dempsey and muiniain to join. with spearing going to west brom and adam going to fulham as part of the dempsey deal. I really hope Muniain does sign cuz e will be exceptional with borini and suarez in a 3 man attack. Only then will I be content wiv Carroll been allowed to leave. There is no point in my opinion in sellig carrol for less than 20million or sending him out on loan unless we get a quality replacement like muniain or even lewandowski but el prob go to Mancs. Also, what's our chances of signing Muniain.

Is the Theo Walcott speculation true and what has promted this move.

17 Jul 2012 12:06:00
Hello Eds,
don't know why would FSG want Cavani, knowing how expensive the player is and knowing they don't want to spend much this year without selling a few players. Especially after last year's transfers. What's more I don't think Liverpool is willing to pay high salaries which Cavani would surely demand, so it doesn't make any sense!!

17 Jul 2012 11:58:28
What's your take on the likely formation for next season Eds? And how do you see Borini and the possible additions of Dempsey, Allen, Walcott etc fitting into that.
Dempsey's success at Fulham has been as a support striker (behind Zamora, Johnson or Pobregnyk) but i would expect him to play as a wide striker of 3?
Also i think it will be interesting to see how Rodgers finds the right balance in Midfield....with Gerrard, Lucas, possibly Allen, Cole, Henderson, Adam all pushing for a starting place.
Exciting either way! Cheers. {Ed002's Note - I am sure others will be happy to speculate.}

----------------Borini------------------
Suarez-----------------------------??
----------Allen--------Gerrard----------
Enrique---------Lucas----------Johnson
----------Agger------Skrtel------------

?? = Dempsey, Walcott, Munian etc. god knows who but i'm confident we'll sign Allen and a right sided forward.

Hi Eds, question regarding Joe Allen. I would love your input in this if you have any info:

I have a source at Spurs who has informed me that Joe Allen to Liverpool is on, as Spurs have been knocked back with an enquiry (poss. replacement for Modric?) they made for the midfielder.

I am aware of the complexities involved with transfers these days so I am not saying it is 100% going to happen but I thought I'd pass it on.

My question is; IF the move happens, who do you expect to make way as the squad is probably already 1 or 2 players heavy in the CM department.

Thanks in advance Eds, top work on the site! {Ed002's Note - Aquilani if the club can find a buyer.}

Phil Neal - Northampton
Joey Jones - Wrexham
Tommy Smith – Through the ranks
Ray Kennedy - Arsenal
Emlyn Hughes - Blackpool
Kevin Keegan - Scunthorpe
Jimmy Case – South Liverpool
Steve Heighway - Skelmersdale
Ian Callaghan - Ranks
Terry McDermott - Newcastle

Arsenal have rejected a 25m bid from Chelsea for Theo Walcott

Load of tosh. Walcott is worth nowhere near £25m, makes out Carroll to be a bargain at £35m.

They would not turn down £25m for a player in the last year of his contract!

17 Jul 2012 11:48:24
fee agreed for munian in the region off 22m, the deal will be finalised within the next 48hours

liverpool set to agree to a 18million deal with newcastle for any carol

also lfc are in nogotiations with arsenal for theo walcott.

eds(whats your take on the cavani deal with chelsea?)
does this mean torres could be leaving the bridge due to lack off first team football? could lfc tempt the chavs with the money we may get for carol {Ed002's Note - Chelsea let Anelka, Kalou and Drogba leave so are looking for a striker.}

17 Jul 2012 11:40:46
Allen, Dempsey and Adam Johnston will conclude the trasfers in business. Carroll to go plus shelvey on loan to Fulham.

I think Theo Walcott is a lot more likely than Adam Johnson.

Pardew: "It will be what it will be, the Carroll situtation is between Mike Ashley and the Liverpool board"

Source: Skunks evening chronicle!

I hope he doesnt go! Would love him and Borini to arrive in the USA next week and really work well together, which will them put pressure on Suarez to start firing them in when he gets back from the Olympics!

17 Jul 2012 11:35:42
From the looks of it, the team that will line up for next season will look something like this. ( if rumoured transfers are to materialise )
Zone 1: GK Reina
Zone 2: CB's Skrtel Agger
Zone 3: DM Lucas
Zone 4: WB's Johnson Enrique
Zone 5: CM's Gerrard Allen
Zone 6: RF/LF Suarez Dempsey
Zone 7: CF Borini

The futures of Doni, Jones, Spearing, Adam, Aquilani, Cole and Pacheco are still unknown.
With Carroll likely to leave, another striker will most probably be in the plans with Walcott seemingly the front runner.
If the likes of Coady, Suso and Sterling impress in training and more importantly, pre season then the should get considerable game time ecspecially Sterling.
Good times? I really pray so :)
RedSox69

I think Theo Walcott could be added to that aswell.

ED's have you heard of Foday Nabay from Birmingham City. Apprantly he is very much sort after by a lot of prem clubs (including LFC) and he is only 13 years. Is he any good and is there interest in him from us?

red deano YNWA {Ed002's Note - I have no idea if there is interest.}

It said in the Daily Mail yesterday that we were negotiating with him.

He has had meetings with several clubs and is apparently due for a tour around OT pretty soon. He has already been on a tour of Anfield. He is a good player and only 13. He is good enough to play in the reserves already.

Hi there, I thought I'd share with you a rumour i have heard over the weekend from one of my friends who is a close friend of Jay Spearing from back in his school days at mosslands on the Wirral (any doubters I can get detailed info on his time at the school to prove my source).. Anyway, jay was at a BBQ on the weekend with my source and he apparently said were on the verge of 1 signing (didn't name a name) and also said were looking at bringing BOTH Walcott and Adam johnson to the club.. I think if it's true then those two would be of of great benefit to the club next season! And the player we are close to signing I would hazard a guess at being Dempsey as hearing a lot about him at the moment. Eds/Macca have you heard anything about Walcott and Johnson being two of our top targets?

Thanks,

SOUR FISH
YNWA {Ed002's Note - Don't drag us in to this.}

Easily made up, that stuff is going round all over the place, and Rodgers said he'd try and get another/more signings in soon..

What do you mean drag us into this ed002?? Ive heard a rumour from a very legitimate source and when I share it on this site I get shafted and put into the 'banter' section. Could you please answer my question, have you heard anything new about Johnson and Walcott? and do you think Dempsey could be the signing we are close to making?

Red Ged, speo was at a BBQ at his friends house in wallasey on this sunday just gone (the 15th).. hate how much people like myself with good information have to defend ourselves on this site. One of very few flaws with the site imo.

If you want names of the people he was with on sunday and where he went afterwards give me a shout and ill be happy to divulge

Any news on theo walcott? Or has the media blown it out of proportion becos he apparently loves liverpool? Cheers

17 Jul 2012 11:23:11
Trying to get my head around this Dempsey and Walcott stuff and am asking myself why both ? Ever time I have watched Dempsey, he is really good coming up through the middle of the park. If you follow the link below, and then look at the formation BR will likely want to employ then it is easy to understand where Joe Allen will fit in. Suarez dropping to wide left, Allen in the Iniesta rol as the left CAM in zone 5, maybe even outside left in 6. Can also play in zone 3 as the holding player like Xavi or Pirlo.

Borini is clearly the target man Rodgers wanted and (fantastic for us) has got, but can also play from the left or the right. Add to it that we have Cole who I really hope gets a nod this season, and who can play in zones 5, 6 and 7. Stevie G as CAM in 5, plus Downing in zone 6, Suso who I think will be getting his chances next season in zone 6, plus Sterling in zone 6.

Dempsey can play either from the middle in 5, or right in 6. Don't forget in in the tiki taka system, wingers are not entirely the classic, old-fasioned wingers like in 4-4-2 but more like outside forwards coming inside to poach a goal or play a simple pass to a running target man, so a Krasic is not really needed, nor desired.

So, can ed's or anyone else who likes a banter about football explain to me why we are (possibly) looking into Walcott?

Thanks, YNWA! Andy

Football is ment to be a simple game unlike your post

BR wants to play with that kinda of midfield, it doesn;t take a genius to figure it out, he wanted sig for the same role as dempsey, but that didn't happen

It's a lot more simple than the mess that you've just dribbled up. Walcott is very quick, pace to burn, which we need. It looks like we'll be playing a 4-3-3 formation this season and Walcott is ideal as one of the forward three, probably on the right hand side of the three.
Probably lining up like this:
Suarez......Borini.......Walcott.
^ ^

Its not rocket science. Its simple.

I thought Benitez was the zone man - now it appears everyone is - football is a simple game - you get the ball, and pass it to another member of your own team, until the opportunity to put the ball in the net.

As the great man once said, if you don't know what to do with the ball - just stick in the net and we'll talk about it later.

some players just fit a club, system and playing style. right now everyone is going on about borini only scoring 10 goals in serie A. must have done enough for a call up to the euro squad.

does anyone remember Torres record for athletico, he didnt really set the world alight, 20 goals at most per season and played every game and apart from the big 2 there all the other teams are quite poor. he cam here and fitted straight away.

Borini has not even played a game yet so please please can we get behind him and who knows where he may go, last season we complained about Carroll every week on here but when we started getting behind him he started performing. ok we paid 35 million for him but he is a young lad and will improve, all we get is buy this player and that player for 30million but the finished article else where does not buy success.

1 word shevchenko 30 million for the finished article and he couldn't trap a beach ball, so lets get behind everyone. the proof is in Lucas written off by many then complain as we can not cover him, lets trust the manager and get behind the team. we are Liverpool FC the best supporters in the world so lets support

Surely Rodgers can't be going for him if that's what Walcott is asking for?! We're trying to trim the wage bill, not make it worse by overpaying! Singred

He's not fit to lace suarez's boots let alone be paid 100k

So the fact that Aurelio, Kuyt, Maxi and possibly Carroll and Bellamy will all be gone hasn't reduced the wage bill at all?

Not going to lie but I am feeling underwhelmed by the current links (with legs) to who we might be signing.

Pleased with the aquistion of Borini. Young and seemingly talented.

However, is Dempsey another player who has already reached his top level at a mid division solid team? I am not convinced he can help us into the champions league and his age is also a bit of a negative.

Managers these days seem to prefer players they are familiar with, rather than taking a chance on scouted talent.

Newcastle have demonstrated what an excellent and trusted scout network can achieve. I doubt whether Cabaye was a clock of Pardew's.

Our scouting network should be given a bit more support IMHO.

Whoever signs I will be fully behind them.

Long live the Lion King

Liverpool are rumoured to be linked with Micah Richards with a bid to be going in just after the olympics.

joint swoop for sturridge going in too..

both players would get football week in week out ..

17 Jul 2012 10:58:47
Just think if Newcastle decide that they do not want Carroll after all and then he sits on your bench on 80k a week until January when another lower Newcastle bid will be accepted!

Carroll is class and Pardew likes him hence the bid. Newcastle would get the best out of the lad who would put is head on the line for the team he loves. Carroll was never given a chance at Liverpool as none of your players can cross a ball - bar Gerrard.

If Carroll was class he would be able to create his own chances being a striker an all... He has to much pressure on him because Liverpool is a big club and he was bought for £35. All these factors did not exist when he was at Newcastle.

Hes got the touch of a baby elephant and me Nans got more pace - Not really in the 'class' bracket.

The touch of a baby elelphant ,,......classic but true

carroll has his strengths , his strengths being with another team

Not Walcott or Allen (good as he is)

Boudebouz for mine. Cash (5-7 million) plus Joe Cole

Sochaux made a mint on Martin going to Lille. Joe cant go back there and at Sochaux he'd be an experienced player in a relatively young side and would play every game in helping get them up the Ligue 1 table and the club would have more cash to replace the two wonderful young stars they would have lost.

Hope the big AC stays. If not then Defoe for mine. Proven scorer and would have a point to prove.

Lucas Leiva best combative midfielder?

I don't think many Liverpool fans would have expected this a few years ago but the stats show that Lucas Leiva performed at the very highest level in those 1045 minutes he played last season. If he has fully recovered from his knee injury his return will be the most welcomed at Anfield where Charlie Adam and Jay Spearing struggled last season.

There is a lot of continued hype over brand new signings at Anfield and frustration that no signings completed at the time of writing. What Liverpool fans may not realise is that the return of Lucas may be their best signing of the summer window.

I hope not. He has no end product and little in the way of footballing intelligence which is what is needed to play Rodger's type of football.

I am unsure about Walcott, yes he is very quick. But his final ball is very erratic as is his shooting ability.
But we'll see.

Sorry mate, no transfers are written in stone.
Walcott wants to leave as demands for higher wages arent being met. If the hierarchy feel he is what we need then he will be brought in, also dependant on Carroll leaving.

Everyone seems a little bit concerned at the moment, we have a new manager in place who has done an excellent job of keeping the actual transfer dealings of LFC out of the public domain meaning no inflated prices which has to be a good thing no matter how frustrating it can be for the expectant fans.
He has shown great character in bringing in players he believes will add to the team and provide a greater chance for success and surely that is what a new manager should do. If he listens to everyone who has a point of view we would have a squad of about 150 with wages of £10 million a week and a formation of 4-3-2-5-7-9 and so on, can we all just give him a real chance to show what this team can do with his direction.
Last season we lost a number of points just because the odd post or cross bar got in the way an inch here or there and things would have been much better and don't forget we still made the final of two competitions and qualified for Europe and o k not the CL but one step at a time.
We can all wish for superstars but that does not make the best team and changing a large number of the players creates imbalance which can do more harm than good. I cannot wait to see our team back in action and no matter what happens will always support LFC the players, manager and owners because without them we will be nothing and have nothing to follow so please everyone reduce the negatives and look at the positives.

Dear Eds and other posters:

1) Do we have any cover for Enrique next season? I'm a bit concerned about this. If not, who are our targets?
2) Kenny Dalglish is a Liverpool legend as a player and as a manager. If you don't believe this then you need to be educated on LFC history. I'm not going to waste pixels explaining it to you.
3) Why does anyone care (apart from FSG) what players cost or are sold for? It is up to the owners to deal with the finances, if we lose money on deals it is their responsibility and it is their money. 4) Andy Carroll is still a Liverpool player. Until he is sold/leaves he should be given our support.
5) Brendan Rogers is our manager. Player recruitment is a vital part of his job. If he feels a player will benefit the squad we should have the maturity and good grace to accept his decision. If he feels a player does not have a future in his squad, then we should accept this decision too. We will get nowhere if we start pulling in different directions. LFC is more than a football club. YNWA is more than just a song. the words mean something. Shankly gave us the blueprint.

Now, I'm not his greatest fan, but even I have to admit that he's got an end product.

Not bad for a player with no end product, eh?

Stone YNWA.

I'd be very happy to see him playing for Liverpool, pace galore and that scares the life out of most defenders.

his wages will be high and also transfer fee, coz he`s english?

17 Jul 2012 10:40:34
hey lfc fans........

i understand that not all teams win everything by buying the top players etc..

but ....i STILL BELIEVE LIVERPOOL are a big enough club to buy someone with real quality...whether they will cost 20-25m i still hope we can atleast show some intent that we can compete as well as everyone else..

what do u think guys?

Mate you don't have to be a so called 'big club' to sign quality players, you just have to offer astronomic wages and over inflated transfer fees, something which is probably better not to do if you can help. Look what's happened to rangers. Need the club to be financially sound and compete at the same time. Let's hope our owners and manager can do it

17 Jul 2012 10:35:23
Hey Eds, I've been enjoying the site for around 2 years now and would firstly like to thank you all for your hard work and honesty in trying to provide all of us with whatever information you guys have. I know you guys put up with lots of abuse and that is unacceptable. I think that it's sometimes hard for us fans to accept that we are not going to be signing 30 or 40 million pound players all the time because apart from the fact that we simply are not in a position to afford the players, we as fans cannot understand why players wouldn't want to come and play for the club we all love so much.

Secondly regarding the owners, I remember sitting in front of the tv when Liverpool were hours from going bust praying that the FSG deal would go through and that all of Hicks and Gillettes final attempts at hanging onto the club would fail. I remember the relief I flt when the deal was finalised. I am very confident that we have sensible owners who will run our great club correctly and within our means while steadily growing brand awareness and increasing revenue as well as not being afraid to be ruthless in their attempts to cut out anybody who they believe is failing at their job.
That brings me on to our new manager. I really do think that we have the best man possible to lead us through this period. He seems to be trying to bring in players who will fight for the badge and what it stands for and that doesn't mean that we have to spend silly money to get them. Ok maybe he has looked at some players he has previously managed, but that's because he knows their attributes and that they will fit into the system that he wants to bring to the club.
Our youth system is one of the best around and some players like Suso, Sterling and Coady are just getting to the stage of their careers where they need to make the next big step up to first team action and Rodgers is exactly the right man to help bring these players into the team gradually and hopefully save us plenty of money in transfer fees in the coming seasons, which I think will be very exciting for the club.

We cannot forget about the great role that Kenny played stabilising the club when it was going through a very tough period. He gave the club a huge lift just when we needed it. Yes he may have been slightly out of touch tactically but we were playing some lovely football at times and were quite unlucky not to win more games. I think the owners did make the right decision to replace Kenny but nobody else could have given the club the lift it needed at that time like Kenny did and I will always be grateful that our club has been blessed to have such a wonderful man as well as human being as a leader both on and off the pitch.

Finally I would like to give a mention to Macca. I read a lot of rumours about Liverpool football club but nobody I have come across has had as much correct information as Macca and as quickly as well. I really believe this guy has genuine inside information and we should be thankful that he takes the time to tell us what he knows because lets be honest 99% of the rest of us have no idea what is really going on.

Best wishes to all my fellow supporters and lets all look forward to the season ahead and lets try and be as possitive as we can because at the end of the day we're all one big family. Take care.

Not sure why everyone asks pointless questions to Macca and the eds, Im not talking about sensible questions but the ones that start with 'are we looking at' or 'any chance of signing' if they know something or hear a rumour that has a chance of being true they usually post it so this page could be pretty much clutter free and just packed with rumours of varying degrees of truth which is how it used to be.

Stop your whining, and just let the players have a go eh? players start somewhere don't they? they don't all start their careers scoring 50 goals a season do they? Get a grip and let's see how things pan out. You've not even seen how the squad play under a new manager yet.

Welsh Steve

The deluded amongst us believe that LFC actually have the resources to lure players like Cavani, Higuain, etc and that anyone cheaper is not worth it.

The sensible amongst us can appreciate that LFC need to gamble a little on cheaper options and hope they produce the goods to get us back into the CL (so that we have more money for better players).

Players like Ba, Moses, Ben Arfa, Hoilett, Cabaye, Tiote, etc were relatively cheap and largely unproven when bought by their current clubs. All have been successful buys. Why can't Borini?

Get it?

Depsey is a class player hence bigger teams like Arsenal and Spurs looking at him... No disrespect, but what makes Liverpool better than Dempsey? You have no CL football and your manager is selling players without even seeing them play....

Toonal you are a funny guy...oh wait, you're not! you are in fact a gimp! sorry for the misunderstanding there. the toons fluje of a season last year will be shown up this year when you finish 12-13th at best. Liverpool will be very very close to top 4

Rodgers said the Liverpool jersey weighs heavy on some players and he's right. The weight comes from supporters expectations and the requirement for instant success. We've got to take the pressure off players by giving them our full support.

Take Borini. He looks like a very decent player and one who defends from the front. If he gives his all and tries his best but still falls short it's hardly his fault. I'm not a big fan of certain players but when I go the game I certainly don't boo them, what good is that. I'm happy with what Rodgers is doing but my fear is we may have to go backwards before we go forwards and some people just won't have the patience to deal with that. Get behind the club and we're half way there.

Wavertree Red

Newcastle haven't won a trophy since man first walked on the moon, and Liverpool are a joke? Ha-ha.

Toonal. I spent many years living in the North East and there's not a bigger joke of a football club on earth than Newcastle United.

How long before the "Cockney Mafia out" cries ring around St Jam..... my bad, Sports Direct Arena next season once it becomes blatantly obvious that this giant turd can't be polished more than once?

Maybe some of you can go back to supporting Sunderland like you used to before Hall started splashing the cash.

anybody kow whats the story with players previously linked to liverpool- ryad boudebouz/ erikson/cisse etc {Ed002's Note - Does anyone know how to use the search function?}

Amazing they can find their way to this site but can't use the search function or Google.

Great job your doing here just wondering If there was any truth in the muinain rumors and If so 2 questions where did the funds come from? And where would he fit into Rodgers new system?
Cheers Hazza

No truth in the rumours, The owners of the club, Winger -McMenemy

Hi, Ed002.. Just wondering when are Liverpool due home from tour? and whilst on tour will transfers still go ahead? also is there any truth in the rumour Spearing > West Brom.. hope so. Thanks mate.

Don {Ed002's Note - It is an interesting question and one that might be worthy of some sensible debate. The last tour fixture is July 28 in Baltimore and the team could return that night or on a day time flight getting home on July 29. The first competitive game is on August 2 so it begs the question as to whether or not some players may return to the UK after the second game to make sure they are ready for the August 2 game - leaving a skeleton side to play out the Spurs fixture in Baltimore? I have no idea what the club are planning for this, but some plan must be in place. I don't know what thought others have on this matter.}

Hi ed, wen is the date for the europa league draw for the game played on the 2nd august? {Ed002's Note - Friday - July 20.}

I agree with Ed002. 2 days in the country after a flight back from the states is not ideal preparation. I think the core of the side will come back a day or 2 earlier because I still think BR wants as many players all together as possible to get them tactically the best possible for 2nd Aug. BR will have been working hard with the scouting staff to identify his targets before yesterday and I would suspect deals will be done during the tour if the right people can be got for the right price.

Simon {Ed002's Note - And keep in mind that game on August 2 could see Liverpool travelling to play and Azerbaijani side or to the beautiful Kazakhstan countryside. Hopefully it will be a home game to ease the travel.}

I agree with u ed02. That some players will be back before the spurs game. Thats why so many of our reserves have gone to add cover plus get experience with the last game which is epl oppostion.

Ed002, not Liverpool related as such but you mentioned USA do not have an Olympic football team, surprising ... usually good at promoting womens and youth sport, why is that? Thought it would be something they'd take seriously...

Richards {Ed002's Note - It is not that they don't have an Under 23 side it is they don't have an entry in the Olympics in London because they failed to qualify - like Nigeria, Argentina, Portugal etc..}

Ok thanks, I thought they must at least have a team...

Macca, when the gb team return from the olympics do you think rogers will try to go for scott sinclair in last year of contract and bound to be of interest to liverpools new formation?

17 Jul 2012 08:53:47
Is there a slight possibility that Andy carrol will stay?
Are the club doing a ''pull up your socks son'' or your gone next transfer window tactic with him?

17 Jul 2012 08:50:18
Enough heard and frustrated by Andy Carroll's rumour speculation. Brendan Rodgers would be an person to sell him at any price. U person Brendan Rodgers, whats ur plan B, if tiki-taka fails.
Andy Carroll is a giant who can score goals when in a mood at will, can terrorize defences with his physique and create spaces.
Brendan Rodgers, U will probably be gone by the end of next summer. Adieu, till then I will support you.

mgz

Lol, sorry but when will you START supporting BR?

cozinoz

What a supporter! Andy Carroll is not of the required standard and never will be.
Where ever he ends up? Why don't you go and support them? I'm sure you'll enjoy wathching Big Andy in mid table battles.

What the hell are you on about? "can score goals when in a mood at will"? what? it shouldn't be when he is in a mood it should be when he pulls on a shirt, he is not the flipping incredible hulk.

Welsh Steve

Ladies and gentlemen it's 10 am and we laready have our rool of the day! Take a bow mgz, you complete donut
Milamber

Let me guess mgz, AC is 'unplayable' on his day? That seems to be the favourite phrase doing the rounds amongst those who seem to want to take every opportunity they can to have a go at our manager, our club, our owners.

The problem with AC is: how many 'days' is he going to have? Based on form to.date, not many! Yes he is young and yes he can improve, possibly! He scored one great goal at the euros and played well in a very average team, against fairly average opposition. He had a few good games for us at end of season. But is that enough to justify his place? A whole load of what ifs. Personally I wouldn't mind him staying, but if he is sold, I'm not going to join the band of Muppets venting their spleens against the manager, before we'ge even kicked a ball. Plan B ? Are people really serious about this plan B ? Let's have an asset ( value between 10 and 35m depending how you want to look at it) sat on the.bench as plan B. Even though he has demonstrated that apart from a few games he can't be relied on? Plan B has to be a proven scorer, coming on to.change a game. Fairclough springs to mind for fellow 'oldies'. AC has.not shown he can be relied on to do that. If we sell, we can buy an other.

Apart from that, I'd be quite happy if we had no plan B, if we do as 'babdly' as Spain and Barca with our Plan A.

Get off the managers back, I trust his judgement a hell of a lot more than juvenile keyboard warriors on here.

blackosprey1965

We all saw what happens when the team is not set up to play to Carroll's strengths last season. The team fails and Carroll loses confidence. Then we have effectively no asset at all. To me BR has a choice of whether to set up a team for Carroll or to play in a way that he has done at every other club he has been at, knows well and has been brought to the club specifically to implement. Carroll will probably not be the best centre forward for this system so from a business perspective we need to cut our substantial losses because we won't get anywhere near £35m for him. I like him as a player he is good but will never be great and I think he will leave in this window.

Simon

Cozinoz, i will support BR because till he is managing Liverpool.

Andy Carroll is an England no. 9, so must have some standards. I only support Liverpool and players who play for them, no one else.

Andy Carroll, had an attitude problem, but was done with it towards the end of the season, and we could see he was getting somewhere.

I only sincerely hope, BR has a plan B in case tiki-taka is failing.

mgz

If you're supporting BR then you will support his decision about Andy Carroll, right?

cozinoz

17 Jul 2012 08:45:00
I like so many posters on here would be very disappointed if Carroll were to leave. Towards the end of the season and in Euros he was unplayable at times. I really feel he would have a great season. Maybe there is still hope that he stays, if he plays on the american tour he can hopefully show Brendan that he can fit into his team, and surely he is worth keeping as a plan b? I still suspect a lot of the talk about Carroll is paper talk anyway. Whatever happens, I'm sure a replacement would be brought and we need to get behind Brendan rogers. What is the point of getting on his back before a ball has been kicked? His his choice in Carroll and on players he brings in. Let him get on with it and live with his decisions! The good times will return! YNWA

Think you'll find most supporters want him gone as he's not really good enough.
Of all the strikers I've seen at our club he's the worst? Ian St John,Roger Hunt,Kevin Keegan, John Toshack, Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler,Stan Collymore, Michael Owen, Fernando Torres, Luis Suarez and oh!! Tony Hately in the late sixties who we bought off Chelsea for a record fee for the time were or are all better than Carroll. Hately scored 30 goals in his first and only only season but was sold by Shankly because he thought the players were just lumping the ball up to Hately who was absoluetey brilliant in the air. He was 10 times better goalscorer than Carroll but he didn't fit so off he went? So just like Shanks? Rodgers is sticking to his football principles and Carroll will be gone.

Some media now saying Muniain to travel to Liverpool soon to discuss personal terms

17 Jul 2012 09:33:15
Fair dues to you Macca, you were right on the last couple of 'ins' namely Rodgers himself (see his posts from May 21st/22nd) he said don't rule Rodgers out when Rodgers himself had ruled him out! then Borini, now it looks like Joe Allen, is Dempsey next? In relation to outs, what do you think is the most likely endgame for Andy C. I, like most will feel that 1. He could have been used as a very effective plan b and 2. If he goes to Newcastle for a cut price bargain bucket, we will look like mugs to them and have virtually funded their squad that finished above us last season and they will have him back. I understand that we largely have to sell to buy and in a way that appeals to me that we are run properly, but if BR does not get these signings right, I fear that we will be viewed in the same light by players as an Everton or Villa. Without wanting to sound dramatic, It really is a very important transfer window in our history.

Reina
Johnson skyrtel agger enrique
Lucas. Gerrard. Suso
Ramirez. Suarez. Borini
Now that is definately a great first team and with sterling, walcott, coates, henderson, downing, robinson, morgan, another new striker, we could be a good force next season. I do think borini will be a very good signing. Hope we dont buy allen because i feel it would stunt suso progress, who will be world class. RedTurk

Hey eds. With Macca saying there will be a possible 4 signings, with Borini in and the likelyhood of Dempsey and Allen signing who do you think is the most likely to be the 4th. Personally I think Adam Johnson would be a great buy and give us the pace we need down the right.

17 Jul 2012 09:09:26
Just read in the Daily Fail that Cavani could be on his way to Chelsea! Now they're really going for the title this season, but with £70m already spent and potentially £35m on Cavani!

How will the likes of Chelsea and PSG make up for their massive spending with FFP coming in?

RedSG

The way I understand it, to comply with the FFP rules clubs who overspend only need to prove that they are trying to reduce their costs.

If Chelsea, for example, spend £150m this transfer window then they need to show a reduction by the end of the following year. This should be easy as they are strengthening their team now and shouldn't need to spend this amount again.

I am sure it is a lot more complicated than this but this is my understanding.

JRG

Eds when is this new fifa ruling of spending of what profit youve made comes in because surely clubs cant just spend and spend every year
i mean chelsea team will be:
cech
ivanovic luiz terry cole
lampard ramires
mata oscar hazard
cavani {Ed002's Note - It is not quite as simple as spending what profit is made but Chelsea are rebuilding as many of their side were aging (Drogba, Anelka, Lampard, Ferreira, Bosingwa etc..}

17 Jul 2012 08:28:24
Player I want at lfc next season Andy Carroll. Unplayable when confident and confidence comes from a run in the team which he Ddid not get last season. If we are flying with the new system and and Carroll is not good enough sell in jan, but he will come back to haunt us. Only deal with Newcastle should be cisse swap plus cash not ba with his dodgy knees

Cisse plus cash LOL how about Suarez and Carroll for Cisse? He was twice the player than either of them last season.... lol Cisse plus cash indeed.

17 Jul 2012 08:20:09
Morning eds,

With the signing of Joe Allen looking ever more likely. Could you give us an idea of what kind of midfielder he is?

From what I've seen he's kind of like a Xabi Alonso type player. {Ed019's Note - He is a complete midfielder, Xavi-esque}

Seriously I rate Joe Allen as a far better player than Mata and at least on a par with David Silva. He gave liverpool more to think about last season than both of them players as our midfield couldn't get near him, i went to both games home and away, the lads pure class and is a must to play attacking mid in just in front of Gerrard and Lucas. That's why Rodgers will stop at nothing to get him.

Haahaaahahha that was a good one mate on par with silva better than mata ha

lets face it we havent got money to spend.
we ended up 37 point behind the champions and we need to get into the cl next season,we had troubles in the past few years otherwise kuyt spearing ect would have been replaced before.
the reason we held on to them was no money.
if we end up spending 30mil net this window we should all stop thinking we got great owners.
ayre werner henry all know how to talk thats all.
the ground problem is dragging on and on and on,and we are all waiting to see what will happen.
if the money was there they would have started,in this current economy every company that can build a stadium will be dying to get the job.
i am from malta and we see italian football all the time and lfc has always been my team,i try to go once a year if i get some tickets.
borini is a good player but does nobody wonder why milan juve inter did not buy him?
he will have too improve but is still young.
i am very diisapointed i hoped that we would have got at least 3 class players in before we went to the states.
we come 3 starters short.

30 mil net in a single window is not good?!!......

Some fans will never be happy.

17 Jul 2012 07:51:14
i dont get whats going on at lfc to be honest. what is this all about. i mean come on are the players like allen, dempsy, borni, really going to push lfc to the next level. iam sorry just cant see it myself. we could of got one or two class players thats all we need. when you look at what coming through the ranks. do we really need them. what do the club think they are playing at with andy c. what a way to treat him. its bang out of order. iam sorry to say this but i have no fath in the owners at all. they no nothing about football and they think this is the way you treat people and i know alot of so called real fans will slate me for what iam saying but face facts its true. he has alot to offer us and we treat him like this. anyone who nose there football will understand where iam coming from.

Yes a few players who fit into the new system will make a big difference.
And a player who doesn't fit may as well go, thats a sad fact for andy carroll but is reality. Be clear its not the owners deciding who fits into team it is the manager, which is what you want.

Well I 'nose' my football, and I've spent the last 18 months minus 3 ok games at the end of the season watching a 35m striker falling over his own feet over and over. And im not one for gossip but I've got plenty of mates who have seen big andy livin it large when he should be tucked up in bed so he doesn't look like a Sunday league player when he's getting payed a small fortune. Don't think selling a player who it hasn't worked out for is treating him badly...that's football, and I nose my football

The cherry picker

Well if you had a better grasp of the English language I may take you more seriously.

Have you seen Allen play? the lad is a tremendous player. If he was Spanish he'd be worth £££££££££££ god knows how much?

It was me that sent it and yes i missed spelled something fine but not the point i was making cherry picker.this is the problem with you called fans. thats why you sit behide sceens thinking you know it all. its people like you that dont know there football. it was my opion. thats all. i gess i must be a bad fan now.

C'mon Eds,
Borini, Allen, Johnson, Walcott? That's too many in my opinion unless four or five is sold. Apart from that, will Liverpool look to buy a striker (Huntelaar)? Or is the purchase also dependent on selling Carroll? thanks. {Ed019's Note - IMO I think it depends on Carroll}

Also think we keep aquaman n hope he scores a few for us to boost his price tag n sell him off in january for a better price..

Or does he hav the capabilities to develop into a goal scorer aswell..? Cheers {Ed002's Note - Someone like Dempsey?}

Just a thought, people on here have mentioned we should get Newcastle's scouts as they've picked up some gems. If they're now wanting Carroll what does that tell ya!?
Also re Sturridge, my other half is a Chelsea season ticket holder and to put it mildly he does not think he's all that.

Both players of good quality for Liverpool, we've got Europa & they could prove a point if we sign either one of them?

Downing will go. runs in straight lines, couldn't hit a cows ass with a banjo.
Plus if we keep him any longer he will be worth absolutely nothing because of his age. It makes good business sense to cut lossses now while we can still recoup some monies? Even if we get a similar amount of money £8/9 m we paid for Borini.

Will be gutted if Carroll goes and makes a rival stronger, i really think he would have come good for us as he was unplayable at the end of the season, mentioned Newcastle may offer cash + Ba to us! why would we want him with his knees? plus Carrolls better IMO.

Any info on Vaclav Kadlec of Sparta? there were a few rumours last summer and would be a quality signing for us

Although i dont like Ba, he is surely better with knees?1?

3 - 4 very good bits of business and exactly what most fans would agree we needed in the team. (another striker, attacking mids and a winger)

Good work to BR if he can make it all happen.

16 Jul 2012 23:58:11
When we sold Torres, Comoli insisted on a deal with Chelsea that Torres would only be sold if Newcastle sold Carroll. And we wanted whatever Carroll cost plus 15 million in cash (that was our answer to Chelsea's bid for Torres), so whatever Newcastle asked for Carrol (turned out to be 35 million) it would cost Chelsea an additional 15 million to buy Torres. That's why we sold Torres for 50m. We didn't receive 50n and then went to Newcastle and bid. That was a shrewd way of making business, actually. No matter how much we pay for Carroll the deal on our side was always going to be the same. Chelsea were the ones having to dish out the money..

If they would have bid us 60 million for Carrol, we would of sold Torres for 75. Same deal anyway you see it.

So in essence what we made on Torres sale is 15m plus whatever we get for Andy.

Tally

Minus what we paid for Torres in the first place, so I think we need roughly something over 11m to be up on the deal. Excluding V.A.T and fees etc.

The problem was comolli spent over 100mil while the Newcastle scout managed to do it in 15. Terrible money management and not buying foreign players last year ruined us so hopefully BR and his staff learn from the mistakes we made in the transfer market last year.

Etphonehome

Don't buy into that excuse, the fact is Chelsea gave us £50 million for Torres and we spent £35 mil on replacement who was and will not be worth that. I like Andy but his top end value is probably £20 mil if he had lived up to his potential. Were now getting rid when he looks like he come into form because he dosent fit into the formation BR plans to play. We'd of been better of spending 20 mil on a target man and another 15 on a right ringer that could supply the ball to a guy the heads a lot of goals a decision that still baffles me today, buying a guy that fed of crosses and then not buying a crosser on the right. It didn't help that downing didn't do anything all year and Enrique didn't carry on his crossing form and partnership with Andy Carroll from Newcastle. We won't be getting £35 mil back from Carroll sale so we are still going to be without a £35 million striker that we could of had if the money had been spent better

Either way you look at it, we did well out of El Nino

No you did not add the fee you paid for torres then his wages for the time you had him that will probably be 30 million +...then carrols wages for 18 months at 3 million a year so about 5 million add that up....daglish who is crap by the way blew almost 100 million and i betyou would not get half that back....then you lost out on champions league aswell...lfc are going nowhere fast.............

I hope we do not sell Carroll, he has bags of ability and potential and with the price tag it would surely go down as one of the worst pieces of transfer activity if we got anything less than what we paid for him.

People have been saying that Ba would come as part of the deal, but surely that would be a similar kind of player, good in the air etc? I dont understand why we would get rid of him for cash plus Ba, Carroll is a better all round player anyway as he offers more and I feel he should definitely stay, unless we could get the 35 million back for him. Alternatively I would probably take 20 million and ben arfa, but we all know neither of those deals will happen.

Ed's what would be your opinion on a replacement if carroll were to leave? Ino cavani etc are unrealistic but surely to compete with the big teams now we must look towards world class players, chelsea are being linked constantly with quality players as well as man city and man utd, if we cant beat them we must surely join them? even tottenham (and we are surely a much bigger club lpool fans?) are linked with players above the standard of which we are, surely we have to look to the likes of ramirez, rondon, even perhaps cavani as attacking options to show we mean business. I do not feel we are too far off competing, in my opinion we were the better team in the majority of games last season. Some squad depth will certainly help, another point on carroll, as surely we need to keep him but also sign more attacking quality to compete at the top end of the league.

what are everyones opinions?

Joe

I do not want LFC to go anywhere near Ba . As for Carroll I just feel if BR wants to keep him or sell him I will agree , his potential is there but his performances have largely not .

EdWood

Carroll has bags of ability and potential?
Have you ever seen a Class centre forward/goalscorer.
Ridiculous! Get rid he's not good enough and never will be. His level is a couple of steps down, ie Newcastle,West ham, Stoke.

Kidmillions you make me laugh, with a Liverpool fan like you who needs any away supports on here. All you do is slate, you slate the whole liverpool team and other Liverpool fans! Are you sure you are not a Manu fan in real life?? LOL

are we buying dempsey as a buisness venture in america to boost shirt sales? because i think theres certainly better younger and more value for money to be had had out there, also we all know allen is a great young prospect an will be more than happy to see him join but where will it leave the likes of shelvey and henderson who will be played in the right position next year and no doubt shine? LFCross, thanks for such a great site

Why is everyone obsessed with shirt sales making money?! Liverpool will not make any more or less money from the success or failure of the shirts!

Let's ignore his age and country of origin for a moment.

If I told you we had a chance at a guy who played mainly as a midfielder but was still tied for 4 in the League in terms of scoring, had played in the League for several years, has a record of goals 1 in every 3.5 or so games, and is a recognized international with over 80 caps for a decent side at ~£8-10M with a reasonable wage, what would you say? With all of that, surely this player has to at least be worthy of consideration?

Competition for places? That's where it leave them.

He is a good goal scorer coming from deep areas just what we need.

From posts read over the last few hours, this week we will wrap deals up for Walcott, Munian, Dempsey, Allen, Mertens and Strootman.

Gotta love this time of year!!

ANDY CARROLL: £35 million transfer fee, 80K a week wages and Newcastle get 25% of any future transfer fee over £35 million, and Damian Commoli wonders why he is on the dole!!

By the way getting a little hard with the thought of a front three of Suarez, Dempsey and Borini interchanging and finding littles pockets of space and if we can just get some Somali Pirates to take Downing, Carra, Henderson and Charlie Adam hostage I might just go completely hard! Miami_Red

Carroll situ wants resolving quickly for LFC.him and any interested parties.NO one benefits dragging on all summer

Cannot believe that you would think that there is a 25% sell on fee to Newcastle for Carroll. Copy of paperwork would need to be seen for confirmation. Not even Comolli would be that stupid, and I'm sure the money men would not have sanctioned such idiocy.

All this speculation about Sturridge, I can only see it happening if Carrol goes myself.

What does everyone else think?

Rob

If carrol leaves i would hope for a better replacement than sturridge to be lined up.

People seem very concerned about buying players to suit Rodgers style. Fair enough, that makes sense.
And then there's obviously the whole Andy Carroll situation. If he goes, it's because Rodgers doesn't fancy him.

So why all the talk of Walcott?
Nothing against the lad, and on his day he's a decent winger, even a match winner.
But his first touch is rubbish. And his 2nd and 3rd touches aren't much better - sometimes worse.

So my question is, if Rodgers doesn't think he can change Carroll suitably to fit his system, does he think he can improve Walcott?

Joe

Rodgers clearly wants a fluid front 3 attack, lots of mobility. Carroll, even with a good first touch, does not offer you that..

Our 'congested' center midfielders currently consists of:

Defensive, (breaking up play): Lucas, Spearing
Offensive, (counter attacks): Gerrard, Henderson
Playmaker, (key passes, killer balls and spreading play): Adam, Aquilani, Shelvey

If Shelvey was to go on loan, we would just have doubled up in every type of central midfield role.

I wouldn't expect Rodgers to break his agreement and sign Allen, and therefore no need to sell any of the above

We can replace Spearing without any fuss , surely .

EdWood

Gerrard can play in all 3 of those positions.

Not sure you have players in the right areas here.
DM: Lucas, Spearing (Henderson)
CM: Aquilani, Adam (Henderson)
AM: Gerrard, Shelvey (Henderson)

Henderson can play all three roles as he's disciplined, can pass and break forward. Aquilani will be replaced as the passing "general" by Allen and if we sign Dempsey he can play the AM role possibly allowing Shelvey to go on loan.

There are currently 3 players in the world that LFC are not linked with.

Don't believe that for a minute, name them please so the Media can put it right.
