Luis Suarez, Cesc Fabregas,Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero are all between 6 months and 2 yrs older than Carroll so when do you suppose Carroll will come good.
Bet Carroll was brilliant at schoolboy level typical big lad knocking all the other kids out the way and scoring goals for fun and not really developing any skills.
Absolutely got nothing personal against the lad as it's actually not his fault we paid all that money for him.
But mark my words he's out of his depth.
kidmillions

Bad examples mate. three uniquely gifted players.

Believe it or not there are different types of players in the world, i could say "Sergio Aguero is a terrible footballer because he can't pick a pass from deep and is a terrible defender" i'd be right, but that doesn't make him a bad footballer.

Cherno Samba mk2 anyone?

Ash

Carroll actually started out as a defender ha
GOD {Ed002's Note - So did Drogba.}

How about we compare him to Drogba? How old was he when he became good??

17 Jan 2012 23:03:46
Why does everyone insist on buying a new striker like llorente and cavani...? They are successful because the get the service required, I'm quite sure what Liverpool need right now is a winger that can deliver good crosses. Has no one realised that whenever Carroll receives decent services he always tends to beat defenders but only to be denied by crazy goal keeping or the woodwork? so no strikers needed, perhaps a winger and I think krasic would be perfect or even Walcott, eds is he still unwilling to sign his contract? Is he available? {Ed002's Note - I don't think Arsenal are looking to sell Walcott right now.}

17 Jan 2012 23:00:51
Thats it, lets sign the player who Chelsea wanted to ship out on loan every single season because he wasnt good enough to be even a sub for them and bring him into our starting line up. Why cant we understand that just because a player out shines every one at his current newly promoted team it dosnt mean he can cut it at the top. IF WE DONT SIGN A QUALITY WINGER AND STRIKER THIS JANUARY WE WILL NOT (very little chance) GET 4th..

Red Pete

17 Jan 2012 22:53:57
come on macca shed some light on transfers in and out ? when is this intermilan player meant to sign? also for eds how many sognings do you think we will make and in what positions? personally i think we need two strikers and a right winger someone like johnson or marvin martin with llorente an experienced striker and a young one like sow or texeira

Hi All,
Just want to know why all you so called Liverpool fans are moaning so much about wanting new players and getting shut of the current players who wear the shirt. We have best defence in the league, we have created the most chances bar Chelsea we are unbeaten at home, we are in the semi final of the Carling Cup, we are in the 4th round of the FA Cup and we are 5 points of 4th place and we still have Chelsea,Arsenal,Everton,Tottenham and even Stoke to come to Anfield. Is it that bad? Okay we are a bit goal shy I will agree and maybe a new striker would help lift the burden off Suarez and Carroll but people are basically asking for a new team of world stars which is not going to happen whilst we are not in the champions league. We were what Blackburn are now 12 months ago and now look at us a well run club with everyone pulling together. Start supporting the team and if I promise you Kenny will get it right don't get me wrong he will probably make mistakes along the way but he is human lol and that's just life. C'mon and get behind the reds!. Eds great site been a regular visitor for a while keep up the good work!

2nd best defence (after man city) and 13th or 14th worst scoring record. Check the stats. 24 for and 18 against, there is the problem. Man city have scored more than 50 goals, all the teams above us have scored 30 or more. Need I say more!.

17 Jan 2012 22:40:38
Eds. is it more Likely Liverpool will be signing players at the last day of the transfer window than the remaining of the 2 weeks? just figuring that most clubs has been signing some key players (including panic buys)at the last day of the transfer window, and normally clubs tend to drop their interest for players during that stage... {Ed002's Note - We cannot say when transfers will happen.}

17 Jan 2012 22:38:52
I may be thinking a little too far forward but I have thought of a great song for Sow

The Sow must go on!

Sow deep is your love

His comments proved he was a red, Moussa, Moussa
I'd love to play in front of the Kop, he said, Moussa, Moussa
We bought the lad from lovely Lille
Cos Suarez didn't win on appeal
Moussa Sow, Liverpool's number 10.

Hi Eds. Brill site, keep it up. Could you give me a brirf explaination about the permit situation,as some get them with no bother, wheras others can't get them at all.
Thanks in advance
Tafred {Ed002's Note - The situation with work permits is that a player will be granted one if (a) he has played 75% of games at full international level for two years for a country ranked reasonably high up, or (b) if an exemption is applied for and granted under the "exceptional talent" provisions. For example, if a case is made to the authorities that a young South American is a demonstrable talent and clearly one for the future, it should be reasonably easy to have an exemption granted. If however, a pretty much run of the mill or average player was being bought and it was clear they are not appreciably better than those which could be found locally, or are being bought because they are cheap, then it will be much more difficult to obtain a work permit. The downside of the system in the UK is that the "bigger" English clubs can cherry pick the decent talent available and can obtain exemptions, and the rest of the players are assumed not to be talented enough for an exemption (as Chelsea or Manchester United etc. don't want them) and therefore obtaining the exemption is much tougher.}

Thanks Ed2. It's much clearer now. {Ed002's Note - Glad to have helped.}

17 Jan 2012 22:36:24
really need a striker and a right winger without these 2 were really gonna struggle to cement a top 6 position. carroll needs games and asists from both sides hopefully downing will start to produce and a new winger to link carroll and new striker if not bellamy until suarez is back.its not rocket science and i know january window is massively overpriced but what price do you put on success. id go for a tricky little winger like dyer/lennon or someone of similar stature to beat the defender and cross.thois position is far more important in my eyes than the striker as i believe why waste £35m on carroll when we ve not even played to his strengths.you wouldnt buy messi and play the long ball would you i just feel so deflated at our tactics as it looks like all were bothered about is not conceding but if we dont score we dont win ! is it just me eds or what??

The tricky winger that puts in a good cross.
Every single one you can think of cannot achieve consistency or hold down a regular place. You living in the past.

Living in the past Lloyd dyers a quality player and lennon still can do it so get your fact right before having a pop!!

17 Jan 2012 22:34:24
I've heard there is the most fantastic, skillful young Spaniard who can unlock tight defences, score goals and is featured on many you tube videos, I think his name is Suso, any chance Liverpool could sign him ,maybe he could turn our possession into goals I believe he's about the same age as Fabregas, Ramsey and Bale were when they debuted

This is a p*ss take yeah? :/

Ha ha love it. i've also heard there's a young striker knocking about somewhere that has scored for fun at all levels he's played, much like owen and God did. think his name is Morgan or something. i really wish we had young talent like this at our club

17 Jan 2012 22:27:33
eds not a rumour but is there any chance people might use the search function it seem s to be getting to you lol or scroll down the page as most questions have been asked a few times on any given day
riley {Ed005's Note - Unlikely. However we'll continue with the same response until people eventually learn they are there for a reason.}

17 Jan 2012 22:28:14
Ed how good is this Sow,in your view? {Ed002's Note - Always subjective, but if there is a chance Liverpool could buy him at some point then a decent addition to the squad.}

17 Jan 2012 22:26:15
Lille have just signed Nolan Roux of Stade Brestois. He is a young French striker who has just gotten his "big move" in the French Ligue.

I see this as significant to LFC because it seems as if Lille have bought a replacement for Sow. Garcia does not play a formation with two strikers but rather a 4-3-3 with Payet and Hazard either side of Sow. I think this is the best indication yet that Sow will be leaving this window.

Is that decent logic Ed?

Anfield Rapstar {Ed005's Note - Certainly seems possible mate.}

And if roux gets injured?

And if Sow get injured? to the respond before me

17 Jan 2012 22:19:08
any ligue 1 watchers out there. please enlighten me as 2 how montpellier are sitting in 2nd above lille by 4 points. WTF

Because like liverpool they to have drawn too many games mate

King luis

No doubt a big influence on their success is the sensational form of Olivier Giroud! He's been on fire

RedSG

Montpellier P 20 W 12 D 4 L 4 Pts 40
Lille P 20 W 9 D 9 L 2 Pts 36

Is that simple enough for you? By the way Giroud of Montpellier is top scorer in France with 14 goals. Perhaps we should sign him!!
Dutchmal

Monpellier have some excellent players, Giroud is the top scorer in the French League, plus the likes of Younes Belhanda, Bedimo and Yanga M'Biwa are all excellent players.

AG

Lille have joe cole dont they!

17 Jan 2012 22:14:33
hey ed's any chancd that Liverpool will give a chance to suso and honestly do you think kenny dalglish is doing an honest good job at lfc bringing in english players {Ed005's Note - I don't know about Suso I'm sure if he's good enough he'll be given a chance. And I'm sure he'll be doing his best to bring throught top English players.}

Downing, Carroll, Henderson........English.
Enrique, Bellamy, Suarez, Adam........non-English. why do people think he is focussed on English?

U missed out carragher n Stevie being English?

17 Jan 2012 22:11:44
Eds you said we can't do pre contracts with players now but how come Celtic can? Is it different rules for the Scottish teams? {Ed005's Note - Not with players based in England.}

17 Jan 2012 22:08:48
Out of the 10 signings we made during 2011 only 4 were hits: Suarez, Enrique, Bellamy and Henderson (say what you will, but the lad's passing is fantastic, he oozes class, with Lucas out he has slotted in in a deeper role and does a terrific job, no moaning, a technically gifted two-footed player and quite frankly I'm looking forward to his peak when he'll be an integral part of the team.

As for new additions apparently Cavani's agent has said he could leave Napoli for as cheaply as £16m, whether true or not I don't know.

Realistically I'd like Moussa Sow, Scott Sinclair, Joe Allen.

17 Jan 2012 22:08:36
Getting good vibes about Moussa Sow, with all this talk of Lille signing Nolan Roux and the Eds saying it is very much possible! Reminds me of just before Downing, Adam, Henderson all signed.
Not saying its definately happening but all the signs are there! Lets hope it happens and make this all important push for 4th! Second best defense in the league I think, alls we need are goals!

Ed002 - I have seen a few replies from you with "I really don't know". Come on mate - people are going to start to think you ed's are here primarily to moderate the site and filter posts. They're going to stop asking stupid questions soo.........aaaahhhhh (light bulb)!!

I think I would call it

Got to admit, it sounds better than

17 Jan 2012 21:44:47
Newcastle have just completed the signing of Cisse, so come then end of the ANC they will have a ready made strike partnership, full of goal potential in Ba and Cisse.

I really hope The King and DC are looking at bringing in some attackers in this window, otherwise we run the risk of falling well short of our top 4 objectives. Arsenal and Chelsea's patchy form won't last forever and we could fall well behind if we don't address our goalscoring issues. The 2nd best creators of chances but the worst conversion rate in the league, it's clear where our issues lie. Last season our chance conversion rate was 13.6% and this season its around 8%, maybe its a confidence thing, but something needs to be done quickly.

david martin looking really good tonight although a goal has just been scored lol! why get rid of cheaper players like these and replace them with the likes of itandje, toni, jones?

He wasn't deemed good enough by people who know much more than you.

Where as toni itandje and jones who are all older are much better..?

Voronin also scored goals for fun in Germany... {Ed005's Note - I wouldn't describe Voronin as scoring goals for fun in Germany.}

But i'd dare say he had fun scoring the ones he did.

that 2004 stadium design is crap looking , it shud be a rectangular stadium.

17 Jan 2012 20:58:14
no adidas on the liverpool shirt.

THERE GONE ANYWAY...

17 Jan 2012 20:55:41
liverpool fans should boycott adidas! they say that our performance on the field doesnt match up to their brand image.

Is that statement not true then?

Moron

Read the statement properly: they said the performance didn't warrant the price.

If Adidas don't want to sponser
the real thing,
they can always opt for plastic
and go sponser the mancs

Well thats why champs leauge is a must.Posters say rather win domestic cup. That views old fashioned.though admirable.Ypo dont get in Europe-your stock falls

I've been a Liverpool fan for over fifty years and I've never bought an Adidas product in my life - I never bought any Crown Panit or Carlsberg beer. As long as one of these companies is putting money into Liverpool I am very happy!

17 Jan 2012 20:28:45
Hi eds heard ancelotti said players are being offered to various clubs llorente being 1 have you heard off any Liverpool interest thanx {Ed005's Note - Liverpool showed an interest in him a while back but he won't be moving.}

17 Jan 2012 19:49:45
ed looks like moussa sow is on his way to anfield as lille has agreed an 8m deal for nolan roux as his replacement, what is your opinion of him as a player CHEEERS !

JF lfc {Ed005's Note - Don't know much about him to be honest apart from he had a good year or two with Lille. I asked one or two people who follow French football and they tell me he is quick and a good finisher. That is all.}

17 Jan 2012 20:48:49
we need to break the bank for soldado and leandro damiao/lavezzi/luuk de jong.
in the summer possibly just suggestions:

HIGUIAN

17 Jan 2012 20:44:25

17 Jan 2012 20:31:28
According to the LFC fixtures section on the official website we play Wolves on the 31st Jan at 8pm if this is the case wouldnt it interfere with transfer dealings on deadline day? Or will the fixture be changed?

Kenny and the players dont do the work to get players in

Doubt it, fortunately the players won't be handling the contract negotiations.

Kenny said we are not buying any new players so it dosint matter,he should wake up and buy a striker and dump carroll, but he made statement not buying anyone..

Kenny never said we would not buy players...he said it would be quiet. Smoke screen anyone?
Iggypop

17 Jan 2012 20:26:35
I don't think that Kenny is happy with this squad.I hope he realise that we need a goalscorer this january.A right winger and a playmaker are also needed if not now, surely in the summer.
Marius

17 Jan 2012 20:24:43
Heard from a reliable source that lille will shortly complete the signing of Nolan Roux which paves the way for Moussa Sow to leave. The Moussa Sow to liverpool deal is becoming more and more likely each day!

17 Jan 2012 20:20:29
can someone help me out here? neymar has he signed a contract til 2014? cause i thought i heard somewhere he was madrid bound in the summer? if not wt sort of £££ would he cost? young fits into our signing bracket?

Might fit into are signing bracket but not are budget bracket, HE WILL BE EXPENSIVE!!

ACHILLES

I might (and probably am) be wrong but I thought the Santos President recently said he was prepared to let Neymar see out his contract and let him leave for nothing in 2014.
Brazilian football is the richest it's ever been and clubs are no longer forced into selling their star youngsters to European sides.
In the interview that I read (which could easily be mis-translated) the President said he thought Neymars presence at Santos for another couple of years would be far more beneficial for the football club than £40 million or so transfer fee.
When he does leave however, he'll have no shortage of offers - did you see his goal against Flamenco earlier in the season?!
If not, YouTube it. It's amazing!
Joe

This is true. It was reported by pretty much every sporting website / newspaper in the world. He's staying with Santos until after the 2014 world cup in Brazil. He's now the highest paid player in South American history. Then he'll be free to talk to whoever he wants

17 Jan 2012 20:20:16
If the story about the players offered to PSG is true then does that mean that Llorente is available? If he is would we be interested or did we settle on Carrol instead of him?

17 Jan 2012 20:07:03
Where do people think the money's coming from for these new players?

We're in global recession with credit tightening globally. Our owners aren't cash rich from the petrochemical industry, they bought into the club as a business to wash its own face.

The books will balance come the end of the season with regard to the recent player in and out activity. At this time there may be some investment in players but I wouldn't envisage it to be excessive spending.

Don't hold your breath chaps, we won't be bringing anyone in this window. Spending will be based on a sensible business model as with any prudent business and unlike the petro chemical brigade.

Ozone

Fsg is a company worth billions....and as for not bringing players in this window ofcourse we will be .....u do realise henry pays more in wages for 2 baseball players than he paid on transfers for us so far lmao

Kuyt out & Sow in, Ozone ?
I agree with your post mate but it was only the other day you were for selling and writing off £35m Andy Carroll !
The Real KB

Ozone spreading the positivity vibes once again

cozinoz

Yeh but baseball revenue is MASSIVE, 80 odd home matches a year with massive crowds and HUGE merchandise sales given the country has a population of over 300m, not to mention their merch sales in japan and the like. You know when you see somebody, anywhere in the world these days it seems, that's wearing a NY flatpeak cap, or one with a B on it for that matter, well that's just more money for the yankees or redsox.

Being realistic cozinoz mate.

Carroll remains a difficult one the real kb. There's a constant theme from others that he's not getting the service and that we need quality wingers. I disagree with this as I feel a well versed intelligent centre forward with strength and a good touch would be getting on the end of a good percentage of the deliveries we've seen so far this season from Enrique, Adam and downing. So when I say write off, I certainly wouldn't throw good money after bad in bringing in other wingers just to get a different type of delivery into the box.

We're most effective with the pass and move concept, Carroll does not slot into this system. The perfect type of striker for the way we play would be someone in the mould of van persie/ berkamp, but where do you find such a player for a reasonable fee?

Ozone

17 Jan 2012 19:46:03
Lets Be Honest We Need A Quality Attacking Force , We lack strikers i think we should just try and bid for eden hazard
Loan Carroll
Demba Ba would be a nice signing , but the likes of lukas podolski, defoe , bent are just a waste as they're all coming up to 30 or there abouts, we need a new CB aswell .

Podolski is 26 mate and scores for fun at international level.I'm 26 aswel does that mean I'm nearly 30?

King luis

Podolski's 26
Not saying he's the answer but you can't write him off claiming he's "coming up to 30" when in fact he's 26 and does actually fit FSG's transfer policy

By your logic mate, suso is coming up 30.

17 Jan 2012 19:41:37
I understand the comments regarding Fernando Torres but I strongly beleive that certain people are suited to certain clubs and it affects their form dramtically. Liverpool should definitely make enquiries if he's touted as being available at Chelsea. The partnership of Suarez and Torres is one that was meant to be.

Did you see torres's last 6 months at anfield ? He was awful

Did you see Torres on the weekend? He was very good.

Why do people keep going on about Torres, He had a few great season`s but unless i am mistaken he is now a Chelsea player and the club would never have him back. so lets all stop asking question about a Chelsea player Ross

One good game in two years?

17 Jan 2012 19:41:12
On ssn that psg have admitted that they have been offered torres!? I know a lot of you don't want him back but I'd have him back any day of the week over carroll! Come on lfc listern to the fans get fernando back, then maybe a cheeky bit for johnson, we need to get goals and fast, that 4th place is slipping away every week, we carnt put it on gerrards shoulders to pull it off for us, get a champions leauge spot and we can actually be serious about top players coming to anfeild in the summer were all dreaming about, and then build to be that force to take on the mancs and chelsea again! Great site by the way

Compare their stats over the past 2 years and Torres is a heavy second to Andy Carroll. You're a DREAMER mate. Torres was good in 2009

Come on lfc listen to the fans and tell fernando to stop making up transfer stories to liverpool

17 Jan 2012 19:39:24
Am I the only one who thinks Adam Johnson is over-rated? Yes, on his day he is great, but he does not have too many 'days' and he still looks a little lightweight to me.
We need proven premiership quality - The type of player who performs week in week out

He doesn't have too many days because he never gets played!

Move to Man City
and be payed (loads)
not to be played
Can't understand some 'footballers',
I'd rather be playing football
for Sc**thope united
than sitting on the bench
In the rain at Man City

I wouldn't.

Tottenham paid £2m for Adebayor to loan him one season. What about a loan bid for Tevez?Maybe 1-2m with an option to buy him in the summer? He will have something to prove and will be very motivated.Marius

Tevez wants out of England and City won't loan him hence why the AC Milan deal fell through

LFCTHB007

I'd love it if no-one bought Tevez. Man C can continue forking out millions for his wages and the spoilt brat can rot in the reserves

Hey eds/lads,
On official Brest website it has that they have agreed €8million deal for Nolan roux. Could this b the start of a merry-go-round. Sow to Lfc then maybe?

I was reading some comments on your page about trigger macteer & how how the lift doesn't go to top floor with him so I thought I'd share some stories about trig all true.
On his first visit to Dublin after call up for Ireland squad he went into a pub in Dublin & asked do they have Guinness! A bit like asking Dairy farmer has any milk..
Another time he was in Lilly Bordellos ( sw**ky night club) & he spotted jimmy white ( snooker) & shouted at top of voice oi jimmy 180.
When he was at Bolton he was in canteen having lunch & Alan Thompson asked him to pass the tomato ketchup,Trig replies red or brown.
He was on a hidden camera show in Ireland called anonymous where they disguised him with a rubber mask, on one part of show he conned aldridge They set up this fake charity called Boots for Boutras Boutras ( Boutras Gali). Macteer was acting like he was a simpleton who was a massive lvpool fan who meets Aldo , He starts acting really strange with Aldo then the lunatic pissed his pants & no fake piss either.. Aldo's face is priceless.
He really is a Ireland legend & love the fact when he was a kid he wrote to jim 'l' fix it asking could he arrange for him to play for lvpool. He never got a reply
Espur

He locked his keys in his car and when razor asked him to go and get a coat hanger to try and open the door he brought down a wooden coat hanger

People are saying that players we are linked with are average and that we should be setting the bar higher in terms of quality. However I believe that there are certain points being overlooked. The players of the quality that we want are rarely available in January, and if they are, then become priced out of our budget.

Secondly we require several additions to the team/squad and it is extremely unlikely that a high turnover of players will lead to an instant and positive impact.

With all this in mind, KK will therefore have to rely predominantly on the squad already at his disposal, and also why the eds consistently say that only 1 or 2 will sign.

Pepe's barber

How funny....so people are saying we should set the rumours bar higher because the players we are rumoured to be interested in are average? I think we can all help that problem by phoning the papers and tell them we have heard we are linked with half the Barcalona team

cozinoz

I'm not sure what exact point you are trying to make. The point I made is that it is the QUALITY OF PLAYER that people are rumouring about. There was no mention of the rumours bar being set higher. There are plenty of sub-standard sites and papers who do as you suggest, and simply pluck random names out of the air. However I merely contend that the players that we need are simply not available in January , and if they are, the price is extortionate. That is why the majority of signings will be in the summer.

I agree with your post completely mate - just found it funny that rumours are we're being linked with low-quality players. Rumours dont dictate the standard of players at LFC, purchases do. There can be rumours that we're buying Brunt, Bramble and Carrick but if we end up with Messi instead the rumours are irrelevant. Sorry, just picking at your first sentence.

Hey guys, great site by the way! On it everyday :)

Just wanted to say that I think we need to start taking some risks and fork out the money for a playmaker such as Eden Hazard or similar. We need to be in the champions league so take the risk! We'd get the money back for getting in it and then be able to attract more high profile players!

To sum that up, break the bank for a class playmaker and possible a loan move for a striker or sell and try for a class striker too! After spending £60 million in the summer as well as what happened last Jan, bottom line we're still not good enough and missing that cutting that wins you games even when we're playing bad.

Cheers Gaz

The answer to Carroll service problem is so obvious after watching this video

Downing = 20million
Suso = free

Suso is not a winger. He will play as one of the advanced centre mids in a 4-3-3 or behind the striker in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1 etc. I hope he can make the step us as he would save us £20m+. He has vision like Silva / Xavi and would thread balls through for any striker with pace. It would be waste playing him behind Carroll as he would touch it out for a throw in.

He certainly would add more creativity and craft to our side. Whether he's physically ready for the rigours of the PL, we'll never know until he's thrown in by The King. If Charlie Adam's dip in form continues further I think he should come into the reckoning with Jonjo Shelvey.

RedSG

He definatly is a talent but not quite for the first team yet.

It's worth noting that I'd look good on YouTube and I'm not that good at football nor photogenic.

I thought a comparison to Adam would have been more relevant, but he could do a job on the wing. Would just love to see some of the youngsters get a few minutes, and I have a feeling we might see a few of the reserves against United in the FA cup.

Hi Ed, i know im gonna be struck down for this but from a footballing point of view Torres back to Liverpool wouldnt be so bad. I have a feeling that KK is thinking of going for him and i think he may end up here at the end of the month.
Out of all the strikers out there we can attract at the moment, for me Torres back to Liverpool is a no brainer!

Just something to note about stadium,
However, the club is continuing to look at the option of staying where they are with the development of the AFL scheme in Stanley Park running alongside the prospect of a refurbishment of Anfield - but such a decision is proving increasingly difficult, so the main focus of the club remains a new build.

I've heard a rumour we're signing two sets of posts and crossbars that are an inch narrower on each side than the ones we've already got. If it hadn't been for the existing Anfield posts, we'd be top of the league. Thinner posts at the start of the season would have given Suarez, Carroll and Kuyt strike rates like Pele, Romario and Ronaldo!

Tennis size ball could also help.
King Willie

The best crosser of a ball after Gerrard is Aurelio, Carroll would surely thrive on his service.
On another note would Gary Hooper of Celtic be able to cut in the Premier league and maybe at Anfield?

No way hooper is average he is as good as mackie at qpr

clean injury record
low pay
team work
professional
determind
leadership qualities
want to play for us

these are the factors we more than likely look at when buying a player.most notibly the last one.lets look at our signings:
adam
downing
suarez
carroll
henderson
bellamy
enrique
coates
doni

all of the above may have had a wage increase but are still on low wages compared to clubs around us.there are four captains in that list aswell.they are all determind to get the job done.they hardly moan and you never see them in the papers for wrong reasons(yes i know suarez).also apart from bellamy and possibly carroll they all relatively stay uninjured.we only have lucas out long term.now the biggest thing to note out of the top list is they all wanted to play for us.the likes of hazard cavani etc dont want to come here and it would take ridiculous wages to get them to think about it.that in turn will lead to others wanting more wages.lets look at city as an example.no disrespect to them but they have to pay vast sums of money to get the players to come.most only go there for huge wages.so stop dreaming of these top players who simply dont want to come to liverpool or we have shown no interest.when we are linked with a player take note of the above list of criteria and think to yourself are they lfc material.do they fit the owners policy.if no then they most likely wont be joining.DORSET RED

I always see Carroll and Bellamy moaning lol

If we got someone with a busted leg, 200k a week, selfish, unprofessional, undetermined, no leadership qualities, and didn't want to play for us , yet everytime they did they scored, I would take them.

I agree. It annoys me when people say "we should just buy Hazard or Cavani" etc.
It's not a case of simply matching the transfer fee, but matching wages.
I don't know the ins and outs of our wage structure but I do know we can't compete with Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga and PSG. Even Anzi

if Kenny is looking for a cdm rw and st.
cdm: arturo Vidal/ mascherano
rw: hoillet in the summer
st: moussa sow/ Luuk de jong

eds any ideas?

Vidal just moved to Juvents so wont happen, Mash again wont happen, Hoillet id prefer Sinclair, Sow i think it was just PR talk and De Jong probz the summer if Lille dont get there 1st.

Mascherano had a stormer for Barca against Betis the last night, everytime he won the ball the Barca faithful cheered. But in saying that maybe we could convince him to leave the best team in the world, not to mention the sunny weather and lack of language barrier to return to north-west England cold wet and windy. Come to think of it he would be mad to not to come back.

Posting after a long time. Just can't understand why we are always so slow to act in the transfer market. It's no secret to anyone that we badly need one or two striker/s. with more than half of the transfer window over, we are still left guessing only names. sometimes David Texeira, Luc Casteignos, Countinho and sometimes Podolski, Moussa sow but nothing till yet. Not whining or moaning but it's sometimes nerve-wrecking. just take a look at Newcastle (as someone very rightly posted a while ago). They've sold Caroll and Enrique to us and a few other players and brought in the likes of Demba Ba, just to mention him. They've scored 6 more goals than us in the PL (though they've conceded 7 more) and are 1 pt clear of us. still, they are bringing in P.Cisse (Striker) and A.Cissokho (Defender) and at affordable rates. Leaves us all to ponder though I'll always support Lfc, no matter what. It actually hurts to see such teams (including Chelsea & Man City who've emerged in the recent years) which were afraid of LFC in the past, doing better than us now. just hope we get something to cheer about in the forthcoming days.
San@MU

Thing is though enrique is far better than cissokho and cisse isnt exactly a world beater.stop moaning.DORSET RED

So impatient.....who have the other big teams bought so far?

DORSET RED, who's moaning here? Have you seen Cissokho play to judge him worse than Enrique? If Cisse isn't a world beater then what about the ones we are being connected to? get a grip! At least Newcastle are reinforcing their squad for the better.
Chelsea have already signed Cahill and are going after Hazard. not interested in others coz the fight is for 4th place, isn't it?

hey eds , since addidas wont be sponsoring liverpool any more is there any chance of liverpool shifting 2 nike or reebok ? because i dont think warrior sports sponsorship will get liverpool a lot of shirt sales in asia..........RED INDIAN {Ed005's Note - Fans don't buy shirts because it says Adidas or Nike on it - they buy the shirts because they support LFC/like LFC or perhaps even like one of our players. I'm sure if Warrior sponsored us that wouldn't make a difference. Especially considering, based on reports, it would be the biggest kit deal in the PL.}

I gotta disagree im sorry, Everybody has got that feeling watching match highlights etc and seeing a jersey and just thinking thats an awesome kit, bigger brands know how to make the better visual kits, Addidas especially is at the moment probably THE most bought sports brand in the world. Every kid growing up had an Inter or an AC milan jersey just cos they looked cool. Growing up myself I had numerous jersies from Celtic to Flamengo from Tottenham to Spain just cos they looked cool but I am a out and out 100% dedicated heart in mouth red! I think the look and brand name do affect it but I do agree with you ED in some respect that a big name sells shirts and the club themselves. In the end the only way to find out what will happen is to wait and see

LFC Paddy

...and if it were the case that the sponsor improved regional sales, then surely sales in North America would rise.

What do u think on carragher on bench he shud get on. Liverpool need a netter because the last few home games in had been 00 some of the games we shud of won 3 or 4 0

Y arent adidas sponsiring us anymore {Ed002's Note - It is the end of the contract and they could not agree a new one.}

"Everybody has got that feeling watching match highlights etc and seeing a jersey and just thinking thats an awesome kit"

No. I don't.

I'm not really into fashion, or shoes. I like football.

I've bought LFC kits as presents before though - as presents etc. I've been bought them too. I didn't think anyone gave a stuff about who made them. Its a Liverpool shirt.

Just another corporation. I have no emotional attachment to adidas really, why should I?

They sounded like bitter little b*tches in their press release too.

How were the numbers asked for by LFC 'unrealistic' when another company met said demands. Surely, the demands were clearly 'realistic' in that case?

I am not suggesting that these corporate types are quite stupid or anything, but their PR people seem as bad as ours. lol.

It seemed a dumb thing to say, reeked of sour grapes. Pretty classless having a dig at the team too.

Maybe it's good they parted ways!

BJH YNWA. (If the kit is not Red, I may have an opinion then...but that aside, who really cares? I don't think the majority of people are football fashion fans? Or maybe I'm out of touch..)

I could care less who makes our shirt. The important thing is that it is classy and distinctive.

The Adidas shirts are tacky and generic, walking "three-stripes" adverts for Adidas and nothing more.

This is probably the stupidest post I have ever read. We are not in the fashion business, we are a football club. People buy our shirts because they are Liverpool shirts, not because of the sponsor.
We sell sponsorship to the highest bidder. Are you seriously suggesting we should accept less money because your fashion sensibilities are offended?

More importantly the contract is better and more money means better players (in most cases....don't start on andy carroll)

Why make all the speculation on players, the only people who seem to know what is going on is the club. Making claims of players coming in, only sinks you lower when they don't. Best thing is to only post if you know for defo............ I would say we would be better looking at players that can make a difference and not have players come in like we got last year (adam, henderson, downing, carroll). To me we are short of at least 3 or 4 players mainly in midfield and up front. Get rid of some dead wood, Kuyt and maxi seem to be the scape goats but for me they can change games (or they used too, maybe not now). Bring in someone up front who is proven in the premership and not in a league that is too easy for them. We need players who can play the way the premership requires, tough and with a lot of know how of other players. Lets hope that the big chiefs at LFC are looking at these sites and maybe they will bring in the players that are required to get us into the top elite, with the current squad, we are only top 6 material.

Why is it people like you dont get it in your head that hazard WILL NOT becoming to lfc in january or summer.if chelsea want him they are going to have to pay probly over 35m and pay over 100k a week.where as for 35m id rather we strengthed the positions we need such as a striker winger and creative cam.DORSET RED

And the problem is, until the likes of HAZARD start coming to Anfield, we're not actually going to move any closer to winning any major silverware (and please don't press the Carling Cup on me)

That's the problem we face - getting it right on squad type players or gamble big and it pays off (although if you class 18mil, 20mil and 35mil as squad purchases, you're deluding yourself)

You see that is the difference bewteen Liverpool and Utd, Chelsea, Cty & majority of the top teams in europe, if they want a player no matter how mu ch his wage and fee is they will go and get him, where we dont want to pay the money nor the wages to attract the best players that is y we will never win the league..

I for one would like to see another Torres in the squad. Atleast I could make use of my old jerseys again! I would be quite happy if he is the new forward, but I must admit, if it is a player of this caliber, a second purchase will be necessary, a player with speed and invention. Our midfield is painfully slow. Passing seems to happen in slow motion. A right sided midfield player or right winger would be nice. Ideally someone with blazing speed.

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll believes the return of Steven Gerrard can bring the best out of him. "When you're on the same team as him in training, some of the passes he puts through for you and the chances he creates are incredible really. So hopefully I can keep working hard, get a nice run of games, give some good performances and get a few goals," Caroll said.

Ahh, if only Carroll had any form of first touch! He doesn't so Stevie's passes will just go begging.

The negativity from some fans is ridiculous. We have created far more goal scoring oppurtunities this season compared to any other in recent years. We also would have the best defensive record in the premier league if we had kept 11 men on the pitch against spurs. The team is playing free-flowing pass and move football which is great to watch; far better than the football being played under rafa and woy. So all the calls for the kings head, i feel, are a little premature. We could do with bringing in a striker to aid with the current goal drought, but calling for a whole new squad is laughable.

KingHeskey

It was always going to be hard to find the right balance, when we bought so many new players. People need to realise that this was never going to be easy process, we have now got the nucleus of the team sorted, and we just need some fine tweaking.
We have got rid of a lot of dross from the squad. So we are in a much better situation, we have to be patient it is work in progress, and Kenny will get us back into the top 4. Ross

It's all very well creating the chances but we're not putting them away that's what most peoples problem is.
paul d

I will remain supportive of Kenny and the current squad. However, I think the preseason goal of a CL spot is disappearing fast. I am sure the owners and Kenny know this, and are assessing for 'useful' transfers. I really doubt they will buy for the sake of buying. Only players they have scouted and think will improve squad now.

In response to paul d, I am aware that that is most peoples problem, however, a lot of people seem to believe it is necessary to make significant changes to the entire team. This is drastic and is definitely not the solution. With Suarez soon to return, and maybe an addition in the striking department in January, I believe the goals will come.

People who go on about progression have Liverpool really made progress when rafa left we finished 7th I no under hodgson was a disaster but we still sit in 7th under kenny while Newcastle who were relegated and sold players like Nolan Barton enrique Carroll are above us and have replaced them players with very good players now surely that's progression if they sign cissokho and cisse and keep ba krul tiote collocini cabaye there team starting to look far stronger than liverpools just an observation

We finished 7th under Rafa at the END of the season. Are we at the END of the season now?

Season is not over, no, but it will take a significant change of fortunes to improve our position. Man U, City and Tottenham are clearly in pole position. Does anyone on here who isn't insane think we will top Chelsea for 4th? If you look at their squad, they have a much better team. They have had their issues adjusting to Villas Boas system, but are now bolstering their defence in this window, and we all know they will spend big again to get another striker before the window closes. I would love us to go on another run like second half of last year, but last year we got a new coach and new superstar (and there were no expectations so players played better). This year, it certainly doesn't look or feel like we are about to go on a massive run. Feels like we are fighting for 7th place.

If we fall any farther behind Chelsea, we will not get 4th. Fifth or sixth place is fine with me, as long as we are making progress. I am not obsessed with CL (it bores me), although I get the "player recruitment" benefit.

However, the owners may not be as patient. In fact, their stewardship of the Red Sox suggests they are quite demanding and results-oriented. So if we spend the season battling it out with Newcastle for sixth, I think heads will roll.

17 Jan 2012 15:30:05
It's a no brainer to say that we are better than we were last year...the problem is, and I do not like to say it, we are a long way off the quality of the players we have had in the past. Our midfield used to consist of Stevie G, Alonso, Masch and Yossi, who at least could thread a ball through to Nando now and again. We have a very over rated CF and the current lack of firepower will cost us a champions league place. I am NOT bemoaning what KK has done - he has transformed the side from what it was 12 months ago, but we are miles away from the class and intelligence of the teams of 2006 -2009.

Exiled Scouser

It's lack of champions league that means we can't have that calibre of player.

We have to battle to get there before we can attract them

35M for Andy Carrol? LOL

We need a striker and a creative MF and a RW. If we don't we won't get 4th spot.
We've been linked with all these players yet nothing seems to be happening.
NUFC r close to signing a striker( good scoring stats ) 7.5 mill KK &DC need to step it up otherwise come next season we will be buying our players fom pri mart and not harrods

Liverpool under Dalglish is going backwards.

How did we end up as a team that had Torres Mascherano Alonso Arbeola Gerrard etc to where we currently are it defys logic that after all these years that Gerrard is still our best player I understand he is one of LFCs best ever but you would think we would have someone on par with him all we have now is him and Suarez we cannot realistically think we will be top 4 when u compare our creative midfielders and strikers to that of the other leading clubs such as City, Utd, Spurs or Chelsea we need established proven players the likes of Allen and Sinclair do not cut it. Whilst yes it is hard to get top tier targets in Jan and most of them being in Champions League there is a fair few players the likes of Podolski, Eriksen, Honda etc that would give us the missing link we cannot rely on players from teams that are mid table to move us on.

Podolski?????

Let's see, Torres/Mascherano can fall into the mercenary camp. Alonso weas Rafa's fault, Arbeloa was ok, not a world beater, Kelly is better.

Because at the time we had mercenarys for owners!! FFS do you not read anything? Is it possible that just maybe all you doubters and whiners just might need to get some patience!

F f sake we need a striker. We need a winger. We need a dm but were no getting any one and the world is gonna end. Give it a rest kk will have deals up his sleeve and he keeps them there till he wants us to know about them. And not that the seasons been a bad one to start off with but we always do better in second half of season. Chill let kk deal with the team and just enjoy watching them play there entitled to a bad game or two kk came to sort the mess left by hicks and bic and he had to change all the s**t old Roy brought in and he's done most of that in 1 season. Relax.

Can I just say I honestly don't think there will be any activity regarding transfers today as it's Gary Ablett's funeral and I would imagine alot of the players and staff surrounding the club will be busy paying their respects.
RIP Gary Ablett, our thoughts are with your family an friends!

My brother used to play with Gary at Liverpool school boys. I can tell you from experience that you could not have met a nicer bloke.

RIP Gary you will be sadly missed.

where has Andy Carroll's game gone ...unplayable at times

i am going to be a bit critical of kk as well because if you look at the stoke game the amount of times we had good opportunities to cross the ball in the box and when it was crossed there was not a soul in the box ....and as for the way stoke play football ...i think its disgraceful and should be banned

Grow up , Stoke are entitled to play whichever way they want. though i do think the ref should hurry them along for the throw ins.

I agree with you he is isolated up front and we are not playing to Carrols strengths. Looking at video there is potential just lets hope he starts to show good form soon before the fans completely loose faith in him.

steve068

Stoke only did to us what we did to city in the Carling cup semi. Granted we did outplay City first half and should have been 3 up, but we parked the bus big style to cling on to that one goal lead. Stoke just clung on for 90 mins for their point. We need to find a way to break the likes of Stoke down, thats the problem.

Looks good. we should definitely sign this fella!

He's obviously happier with the number 24 on his back. That number is currently available at the moment so let him have it.

Some great goals but these are in the championship, hope Carroll will come good.

I see this ridiculous topic of 'you can only support Liverpool if you're from Liverpool' has stuck its ugly head over the parapet again, so I'm going to stick my tuppence worth in.
I regard myself as being a bit of a glory hunter, as one of my earliest memories was Rome 77'. I was hooked. The arrival of one Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish not long after, and our ensuing dominance over all other teams across England and Europe cemented that passion.
Now, in those younger days, I didn't go the match as being of immigrant stock, football wasn't a game my dad was really interested in (cricket's more his thing). However, as I grew older, and could afford tickets, and could get hold of them, I went as often as I could.
Even when I worked and lived in London in the 90's, I begged borrowed and stole tickets and time to ensure I could follow my beloved Liverpool as and when and where I could.
I'm not from Liverpool, (not a million miles away though), but I defy anyone idiotic bigot to say they are more passionate and have more right to follow this club than myself.
However, lets extend this bizarre logic for a moment. There's this stupid element that says that unless you're from Liverpool, you can't be a 'true' Liverpool fan. Okay, if that is the case, how about the players and staff? Surely that same logic would extend to them? After all, if you have to be from Liverpool to support Liverpool, then surely you have to be from Liverpool to play for Liverpool? So, no Dalglish, or Paisley, or Shankly. As for players, again, no Dalglish, no Souness, no Heighway, no Reina, no Alonso, etc., etc., etc.
Finances. LFC is a global brand, not a local brand, and as such has a global income. It is this that has enabled us to have the glorious history that we have, and it is this global income that ensures we remain as one of the top clubs in the top league in the World. Do you really think we would have the kind of income and success if all we had was money coming in from Liverpool?
If you find that you are a small minded 'little Liverpooler' then I suggest you go and support a small local team- try that one across the park.
Finally, on a more personal note, I imagine I'm one of the few people on here to actually have witnessed Kenny holding the Premiership trophy aloft as I was in Blackburn in the summer of 1995, watching a victorious Rovers team parading the cup. I look forward to seeing him lift it again, soon, only this time, where it should be, in Liverpool.

Just something interesting:

Lucas joined LFC when he was around 20 years old, Coady is just coming up to that age i think he is 19 in February. Taking nothing away from Lucas but Coady is as talented if not more talented than Lucas so I think if we can give Coady the support and most importantly time to develop in the first team he will be a better player than Lucas maybe even Gerrard level.

I know Coady is listed as a defender but he has player a more central midfield role which suits his attributes.

JJ LFC

You do realize that Coady is just 18 at the moment right? He probably will be making substitue appearances this season, but he is not able to make a push for the first team yet. Maybe next season.

RenegadeRed

Coady is like for like a young Gerrard.

BigD

If he is good enough he is old enough imo

Muggitzo

Coady is miles away from a first team spot, wish you guys would just let the lads improve without the massive pressure and expectations. Lucas was already playing league football in Brazil (think he was even the leagues best player when he left?). Coady is a young lad with lots to learn, no doubt he`s definately got talant as does Sterling, Suso, Morgan and a few others but none of the lads in the reserves would make an impact in the Prem league yet, two years maybe. Watch and enjoy their progress but stop heaving the pressure on until their ready.

Matt b

Gerrard made his first team debut in the league at 18, and then went onto to be a regular in the 2000-01 season, i think Coady is ready for a few cameos in the first team at least, after all Shelvey made his debut for LFC at 19 and Spearing had just turned 20 when he made his debut.

I hope Coady gets a chance - if anything we get to see if he has the potential to make the first team first hand.

Not a rumour but more of an opinionated observation!

After personally enduring a few of the boring draws at Anfield it is quite clear that we need to change something. Why does it always comes down to looking at bringing in new players to address the problem/s?

We have a lack of creativity from a midfield that has and could include Downing, Henderson, Adam, Gerrard, Maxi, Bellamy - How is this possible?

We have a striker in Andy Carroll that looked a world beater when we played Newcastle at St. James Park last year - but looks poor for us.

Kuyt is a player I like and was shocked to see Henderson come straight into the team in front of him.

My thoughts are very simple about this. Getting some new players "may" solve the current problems - but lets remind ourselves that these problems are all self induced. I will tell you why....

Downing and Henderson were bought to cross balls into the box for Carroll to attack. Every game they play, they fail to look for an early cross or to hug the touchline to get down the wing. They cut inside far too often. Henderson las often looked like a player scared to play football - as though he is being restricted. The game away at Arsenal was a clear example of this with every ball going sideways or backward. Aside from Bellamy, neither of our "wide men" are being TOLD to attack the full back and put crosses in. It seems that Jose and Glen are the only ones providing a threat out wide.

Carroll or Kuyt have been played alone up front which hasn't done them any favours at all. Neither man is blessed with pace or movement, and in my opinion needs pairing with someone to compliment them.

In short I suppose I am suggesting that Kenny and Co. have failed in our home games to get the best out of our players. We have certainly not played to any of their strengths and given them a chance.

As with some of the other managements signings over the years, you can see some of our under performing players moving on and playing really well elsewhere. They don't become bad players overnight.

I should also add that Demba Ba is a great player and a snip at the price being touted around. If we had bought him in the summer we would have been in the top 4, not challenging for it now - and with regards to his knee and the potential to lose money if it packed up - so we lose £5m or so on a striker... how much would we lose on Carroll if he were to go?! (£34.5m for what he contributed)

Also keen to know why so many rumours about Teixera (spelling?) too, other Uruguayans and Sow etc. Surely we could be faced with the possibility of always having 3 or more world class players every season being away on Copa America, ACON duty for a few weeks.

Eds - Is this opinion fair or am I just venting frustration unfairly?

*** WELSH KOPITE ***

Can't believe you use the term "in short" in this post.

Have to say I agree with the general meaning of what your saying here. I find it hard to believe that our scouts, commoli and KK have checked on carrol decided he is the kind of player we need and then try to get him to play a different type of role. I think it is all down to the service he is getting to be honest. Although at Newcastle he usedto bully defenders for fun and with us he seems to spend most of his time on the floor, he looks like a different man. I'd love to see him get a few goals and his confidence up again. And heres a question Suarez will be available for the Man U game, will kanny play him? most people I know seem split on this, but it is a game that we might have to win to stay in touch with the top 4.

Play Suarez against united, who else is going to score?? Carroll, Kuyt, Downing, Henderson,

Its time to be the bigger club. Petulance isn't the answer.

But then stevie would look no better then Evra

Good idea that will do loads for our current reputation, lets not add fuel to the fire.

They should shake his hands and let the football do the talking.

Was it you in Liverpool's PR room handling the whole debacle? What a nonsense. Shake hands, beat them, and shake hands at the end. Onwards and upwards.

Great idea as if the club has not had enough bad press recently.I cant believe the stupid attitude of some fans my only hope is that they are kids that dont no better yet

Id rather we stopped all the childish antics and concentrated on winning the game personaly.

Liverpool's decision to sign a club record £25 million contract with Warrior Sports came after talks over an extension of their current deal with Adidas collapsed due to unrealistic demands from the club, Adidas has claimed.

The existing agreement between Liverpool and Adidas expires at the end of this season. Talks took place over an extension, but it was claimed technicalities relating to merchandise prompted a parting of ways.

However, Adidas claim the truth is Liverpool were demanding too much money relating to the team's on-field performance. The Reds have not won a major trophy since 2006, and they are currently seventh in the Premier League table following their seventh home draw of the season.

"The gap between their performance on the field and what the number should be is not in balance," Herbert Hainer, Adidas's chief executive officer, said in the Telegraph.

"Then we said, 'OK we will not do it'. That's the end of the story. It all depends on the success and the effort and the popularity, the exposure on TV, revenue you can generate by merchandising,.

"This all has to be brought in line between what you offer and what you get. We thought that what Liverpool were asking and what they were delivering was not in the right balance."

Liverpool's subsequent six-year deal with Boston-based Warrior Sports is worth £25 million, a figure that is reportedly almost double what the Reds earned from Adidas.

Danny.

Any new design would be subject to planning permission. This would delay the process by another 2-3 years.
The entire debacle has already taken the best part of a decade (from when the original plans were drawn up). Besides, my reading of the situation is the interior could still be modified.

I see the Liverpool Echo are now running a story stating LFC are prioritising the build of a new stadium. Not to the design planning permission currently stands but are manipulating previous design staying within rules set out by old permission meaning they will not have to re apply for planning despite making changes to design.

They are planning to finance this using a massive naming rights deal with a global brand sponsor.

Admittedly as with all multimillion pound deals time scales slip somewhat meaning I was more than a little off in regards to time scale however I think this story backs up what I have been saying for months.

Thanks to those who believed me and I now hope the doubters believe to. Those who told me I was lying and my maths didnt add up I would like to hear your response to this news.

Happy and slightly (a lot) smug

HuytonRed

They are not prioritising a new stadium if you read it you will see the bit where it says
However,  the club is  continuing to look at the option of  staying where they are with the  development of the AFL scheme  in Stanley Park running  alongside the prospect of a  refurbishment of Anfield - but  such a decision is proving increasingly  difficult, so the main focus of the club  remains a new build.

Will the Real KB please stand up, please stand up

What's the difference between something being a "main focus" and a "priority"? You splitting hairs on wording.

Why would they spend 12 months and tons of money travelling the globe to sort out a naming rights partner as a "back up" plan.

With the report in the Telegraph today, I'm sure the club are now close to a resolution over the stadium and we will hear something concrete in the next few weeks.

If as stated it will be a AFL design, I hope it's the 2nd generation one. 72,000 seater with a 18,500 seat Kop.

RedSG

The second design is rather sweet with the 2 wembley style arches and most important a larger capacity then the first design. Also a single tier at one end to try and recreate the kop.

If this stadium is the one Liverpool finally get then i will be rather happy with it!

If fellow reds want to see the design then it is on the this is anfield website with a link to the new stadium

Basil

17 Jan 2012 12:49:53
the whole point of building a new stadium is to compete with the likes of Man Utd!
What is th epoint of building a 60k stadium when Man Utd are increasing theres to 90k! we will be in the same boat as we currently are with them earning over 1million more per home game!
Surely it makes sense to at least go for 80k with over 50k on the waiting lists for season tickets too

What's the point in building a White elephant? Growth is steady. If you build a 100,000 capacity ground doesn't mean we'll fill it. Build 60k if it's full add 10k etc etc. The tweaks to design make expanding easier than original design.

Why build a 60k stadium when we have a massive waiting list for season tickets, build a bigger stadium wipe out the waiting list, guaranteed income simples

I know a lot of current "season ticket holders" who sell there season ticket every year because they can't afford the £750 a year. You honestly believe everyone on the list can afford it?

Looks quite uninteresting compared to the cowboy design. But i'm sure it would be impressive upon eye sight.

Looking under the picture it says 'in progress' so it looks like the report may have some legs. I don't like it. Got nothing iconic going for it. I prefer the 2008 new design on their site, more aesthetically pleasing to my eye anyway.

Wavertree Red {Ed002's Note - It has said "in progress" for some years.}

I think the paper has got the 2 designs by AFL mixed up to be honest. It says it is like the millenium stadium with a single tier kop endat one end, this sounds like the later next generation stadium by AFL. This is on the same web site has a capacity of 72,000 and a kop that holds 18,500. Actually I quite like this except for the clear roof. Again 72,000 is a massive increase on present infact thats like some other premier league stadium capacity on top of ours?

Liverpool should not leave Anfield. They should keep trying to redevelop the stadium even if they fail trying.
If they do decide to build a new stadium, they should design it as close as possible to the Anfield stadium design except making the capacity of the new stadium around 70,000-80,000.

This makes sense. i have always thought that we should just build on stanley park what a redeveloped anfield could look like if we had the opportunity to expand to 75000+.
this stadium is dreadful and it will destroy lfc as we know it... we should build a new stadium around our character of a sense of togetherness, atmosphere and support. not just build for the sake of it.
yet another disappointment coming out of our club its doin my head in all this!

peter

What do you mean even if they fail trying? This isn't a computer game getting this wrong could break the club! The fact they have investigated options for a year and not announced anything yet and that they have stated redevelopment would be there preffered option suggests strongly that this just isn't financialy viable.

Hi eds, just wondering if you can confirm or dismiss the rumours in the telelgraph about fsg given stanley park the go ahead?
thanks {Ed002's Note - I can do neither at this time. There is no press release or anything issued relating to the stadium as of this time.}

Ed lot of speculation about the stadium again today have you heard anything concrete? I know really bad, but any news?
RNred {Ed002's Note - I have heard nothing for sure yet.}

Was telling people 3 months ago this would happen. Knew they were playing with the design and changing capacity (original design was 55k). Knew they were keeping within original planning restraints so new application didn't need to be submitted but didn't realise it was old design. Think I can be forgiven on that though as I stated all along my source was in finance not the club itself.

Over 35,000 people have signed an e-petition calling for a new inquest into the death of Kevin Williams at Hillsborough but 65,000 more signatures are still required before Thursday.

Signed, and i urge everyone else who reads this to sign.

Can we all say that Defoe is not going to fix the problem, someone like Sow will and new talent under 25 is better for the future of the club. Kenny and Comolli wont mistake ability with price only the best will come.

£20 million for Defoe, that is absolute robbery. I wonder if the other clubs see us as soo damn desperate (as was the case last Jan), that we would contemplate such madness. Far rather buy 2 youngsters for that amount, at least they can be rotated (based on their form). Strikers aside, we still need to supply the strikers with decent passes, so a creative mid, and wide right sided player are just as important. How soo many fans (like me) regret the day that we lost Alonso, and all because Rafa fancied Barry. I trust and pray, that whoever is brought in, is able to produce the goods immediately.

Would u rather pay £20 mil for Defoe or £35 mil for carroll?

Id rather pay 35m for Carroll all day everyday

17 Jan 2012 11:05:34
Just a question,a while ago several posters, and oneve the Ed's didnt think Defoe would come to Lfc.And didnt rate him either(and thats their view, fine)But with recent speculation, outve interest,do they still hold that view on both points?

17 Jan 2012 10:52:41
So Henry swears at a fan and that's fine, but Suarez puts the finger up to the crowd and gets a one match ban. Double standards! RED ROSS

Well, not really. Henry was in the process of trying to encourage his own supporters to get behind the team - Suarez was casually telling the opposition fans to go and f*@! themselves.

People have not thinking of the big picture and have their blinkers on.

We are in good shape compared to last season.

Home grown rule: we are in great shape and have always had great youth talent coming through unlike other teams - particularly Chelsea.

Andy Carroll had an injury interrupted start to the season.

After this one ends i'm sure KK and the crew will have him do a monster pre-season as will Lucas and Sir Stevie and all 3 to come back 100% ready for the next campaign.

Give the kid a chance FFS... don't crucify him like most did to Lucas.

If he has a poor 2012-13 then it may be time to put him to another club.

And fans should never shyte on KK after everything he has done for the club over so many years in so many facets... shame shame shame

Really feel that any new stadium should have some form of 'kop end,' a single tier structure that could still be called The Kop. Its an identity thing. We dont want a souless dome like Emirates, Reebok, Stadium of Light for example. Yes the 2nd design is £100million more than the 1st design but in the long run with it being a bigger attendance it will make it back in revenue in the future. The only single good thing that happened when Hicks & Gillett were here was the 2nd stadium design.

Yes if Anfield can't be built up at all, and yes it would be a tight squeeze but I still think something could be done with the main stand, we would have to move but I pray we don't end up with a souless dome. We need our identity. I would also hope its called Anfield or Stanley Park but with inevitable naming rights issues its bound to end up being the Budweiser stadium or something, shame.

It does have a single tier Kop? check the AFL website.

The comment about Keeping the digital picture day trippersaway and allocate thousands of tickets to young LOCAL supporters

This comment is stupid, makes no financial sence and I feel I need to reply. It is not about keeping away daytrippers or tourists surely it is about building a stadium to accomadate all fans. To increase our global fan base world wide which in turn brings in revenue to buy new players is so important to the club and I feel that those supporters should have chance to visit.

Liverpool lost a good percentage of its popualtion over recent times and those people that have left Liverpool still hold the club and city with great fondness and are not able to get up to Liverpool as often as they would like becaue of family, costs, logistics etc.

To finish off tourism is so important to City of Liverpool. When there is a home game a good percentage of hotels fill up, pubs and resturants' business improves, Liverpool FC shop sells more goods, etc.

Steve068(from Liverpool and has purple wheelie bin to prove it)

Giving more tickets to the locals would mean more touts outside the ground on matchday.

Steve068(from Liverpool and has purple wheelie bin to prove it)

is this where the idea for purple shirts comes from?

About the new stadium.

Its a pity we arnt getting the beautiful H&G design stadium as it a special stadium with the biggest single tier kop and head n shoulders above anything in Britain. I can fully understand though as £400+ mill is a lot.

Gutted were leaving Anfield but we do need a bigger stadium for bigger revenue.

The 2003 stadium in nice but in my opinion abit bland. Looks like the emerates and other bowl shape stadiums.
It looks like the kop will disappear and 55000 isnt big enough for me.
But however it's still great and we certainly need it. 300mill is far cheaper
SJ

Need a square design with single tier kop. Simple.

Red7.

Its pointless moving and building a new stadium if its only gonna be 60,000 we need at least a 70,000 seater stadium, it don't make sense paying £300m+ for an extra 15,000 seats where is the logic in that.

BigD

There are 2 proposed stadiums on the website, one is a 60,000 with room for expansion to 70,000. The question is how big a stadium can we fill, and I mean all the time not just for the glamour games.

17 Jan 2012 09:41:25
Looks like a glorified cross between the Reebok and the Etihad it is then! The new design that was produced under Hicks and Gillett was much more impressive and would have given the Club its own identity by providing something different in terms of stadiums that we see elsewhere in England and Europe. I had hoped that the stadium may have been the only good thing that came from their time in charge.

I saw a design a while ago that had twin arches over it like Wembley. Even though it was bowl shaped, and looked like it had a kop type stand with a glass roof. The H&G design was fantastic but costly, there are too many bowl (flat pack) style stadiums Emirates, Eithad, K.C etc

17 Jan 2012 09:37:42
Liverpool are 2nd only to Chelsea on chances created and bottom on chances converted, that says it all...we need 1 proven goal scorer or if it was up to me I'd bring in 2proven goal scorers this January window and just go in 4the kill the rest of the season, thers nothin wrong with are midfield or defence so c'mon LFC, kk, comolli, fsg or whoevers in charge, get ur little red fingers out and spend spend spend!

Mate, if you worked it out, i'm pretty sure the appropriate people inside the club would have worked it out yeh?

Red7.

Yes of course they wud have worked it out but me and millions of other LFC supporters want them to do something about it!

And what makes you think that they are not trying to do something about it?

Lets get one thing straight Jordan Rhodes would not score 27 goals up to now playing in the Premier league
But he would probably with all the chances we create have got at least between 8 and 10. Where that put us in the Premier table.
Keegan Scunthorpe to Liverpool and Hamburg twice European player of the Year. So don't say a Striker can't make the leap into the big League. Because they can; Goalscorers are like Goalkeepers in that it's a specialist position. By the way Swansea and Norwich have a whole team full of lower league players.
kidmillions

AND, even if he's not ready just yet, i can honestly see him being ready in the next few years, he has a wonderful knowledge of the game and a real killer instinct, so if he shows enough potential let's have a run at it, but we'll leave the scouts on that one.

Red7.

I will throw in another name that did a similar leap. John Aldridge. If you know where the goal is then you know where the goal is. It,s an art. You have either got it or you hav,nt. simple.
Robbie

So if we went out and got Rhodes and no-one else wud u be happy?? Cos I wouldn't, we need sum1 now to push for top 4, if we don't get a good striker now we can just rule CL for this season

Eds concerning the stadium, is there room to increase the capacity on the current 60,000 seater stadium once built like utd have been doing over the past few years?

Thanks.

Interesting to see some posts concerning Tevez,
I hate the guy with a passion and hope he never
comes to Liverpool and I'm sure he won't. I have
a question which perhaps someone can answer.
Sorry not related to Liverpool. But if Man City to
win the PL this year and Tevez leaves this window
for Inter, does Teves get a PL winner medal? Do you
have to play a certain number of games for the club
to qualify or be at the club at the end of the season,
how does it work? Don't think Tevez deserves a PL
medal 2012 for City IF they win.

After looking at youtube (i know it can make anyone look good) at Joe Allen, Sinclair and Texeira and i think that those 3 could acc make a massive difference all 21/22 wouldnt cost loads and could all work really well together.
WHY? because...
Allen= great abillity to carry the ball from midfield and play great short passes,
Sinclair= great at beating full backs and getting a cross in or cutting it back
and finally Texeira= positional sense in the box is very good and is a good poacher
then allen picks it up drives and plays it to sinclair he beats a man and cuts it back to Texeira who moves int o position to slot it in the goal!

It's that simple! ha ha

James McCarthy is another one who i believe is a better CM option than Adam. But would cost a bit of cash to price away from Wigan.

A rant!

Sunderland 1-1
Man Utd 1-1
Man City 1-1
Blackburn 1-1
Norwich 1-1
Swansea 0-0
Stoke 0-0

Get real, people! I don't get to Anfield but, from what I understand, 5 unlucky draws, Stoke and Swansea the arguable exceptions as teams that didn't deserve to lose. No question that any of these could have been defeats, just not sufficient end product to grab the extra two points that the performance deserved. I wonder does anybody know what the difference would be if half the shots that hit the woodwork had gone in and we'd only missed one league penalty, rather than 3?

So what are the whingers on about? We have a team that plays its collective heart out, keeps the ball for the majority of the game, creates more real chances than I have seen in a long year and concedes less than usual. (Look back at matches under Houllier and look at the "chances" he referred to- any old hack at goal from any distance was a "chance created"!).

Dalglish to go? Wise up, children. The need to put the ball in the net more is obvious. So obvious, in fact, that I suspect Dalglish knows it already!

I used to hate Man Utd supporters' expectation that they "deserved" to be challenging for the title through the latter part of the 70s all the way into the 90s. They were rubbish and didn't deserve anything of the sort. Liverpool these days are far from rubbish but we do not deserve any more than we earn. A little tweak here & there and a modicum of luck and I think we'll be pretty close.

Finally, to echo a post of a week or two back, without testing those of short memory by naming names, traditionally Liverpool do not buy star players- they make good players look like stars within a team. How many "great" Liverpool players did anything of note after they left Anfield? Keegan is the only one I can think of and I'm still delighted he left! So stop asking for the board to sanction silly money moves for egos that will not, and never would have, fit into the ethos that is Liverpool Football Club.

Rant over

MRPJD

And also before there used to be a two horse or atmost 3 horse race for the title and the Champions League spot was very easy to grab but look at the league now. Apart from the usual 4 challengers there are Hotspuds and Mans**tty. so it's not that we are doing bad but the other teams are doing very good so we have to step up a little for the challenge.

Mcmanaman won the champions league and alonso a world cup, but I agree with you about this obsesion with star names, it's getting really tedious now.

With all this new stadium talk today, how long before some fan says brilliant more seats for true Liverpool fans and not day trippers? Or we need to stay at Anfield because of the history?

If it wasn't for the day trippers the club wouldn't need a new stadium. Also without the clubs global reach there wouldn't be money from sponsers, tv rights etc to buy new players.

Football has moved on since then and has become a global money making machine, so move with the times. Liverpool need a new stadium to get as many paying fans from where ever in the world in the ground. If you want to surport a local team with local fans with local players, go down your local park on a sunday morning. The premiership is all about the most money, biggest ground, most expensive overseas players.

Liverpool need to get as much money as possible to catch up with city, untied let alone Barca and madrid. Liverpool need a 75,000 stadium with lots of corprat seating, with lots of room for day trippers but still leaving room for real fans!

Basil

'Daytrippers' are real fans Basil. It dosn't matter if you go to 1 match or 60 matches a season. It dosn't mean you love the club, any more or any less.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

It would be much better to stay at anfield because of the history.

Sorry Blair instead of real fans maybe i should have put local fans. Sorry

I'm from Norwich Blair and i hate the way some Liverpool fans on this site think people from outside the liverpool have no right to go to matches. Just saying with a bigger ground at least 75,000 there would be room for everybody. Local, daytrippers, prawn sandwich etc

I think moving from Anfield is the only way to go, i feel in some ways the stadium is holding the club back. Old not big enough etc. Just look at most of the premiership have newer bigger grounds then us, let alone europe.

Fans need to move on, Anfield was amazing in the past but that was in a different era of football. Times have changed. We need a new anfield for a new era.

Basil

I agree with you Basil mate, we should have at least 70+k seats, in our new stadium. Dosn't make sense to me, if we keep it at 60k?

No need to apologise mate, it was me that should've noticed after reading your post, that 'daytrippers' is not what you meant, sorry mate.

If you go on the rumours page and some comments, regarding the new stadium and allocation of seating. You will see that it has started a very good debate and some very good comments, from all the posters.

Makes a refreshing change from all the negativity, that has drowned this page in the past few days.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

It makes no difference what term you use Basil you are out of line.! add to that where do you think LFC and Liverpool itself would be without thousands visiting every year? idiot.!

Of course if you put time, commitment, finance into going regular your a bigger fan. What more do you have to do to prove it?

I think 60,000 with the option to extend, what happens with a 75,000 seat stadium in a europa league tie with NK Siroki Brijeg and we don't fill all the seats. Atmosphere would be s**t

17 Jan 2012 08:42:17
The only reason why we signed Carroll was that we were knocked back for Llorente. Carroll is struggling because a) he doesnt play enough and b) the supply to him when he does play is worse than poor! Like Mr Shearer said on MOTD, LFC needs to adjust to LFC as much as Carroll does to us. At the end of the day the stats don't lie, we have indeed dominated possession with teams and we are definitely not a million miles away from challenging for the top four. However if we are to do it this season we need some very astute attack-minded signings

I totally agree to this point but if you recall the sublime ball Gerrad provided to Carrol against Newcastle a few weeks back was begging to be put into the back of the net but Carrols touch was very poor. If he needs to be LFC's number 9 he has to work on his ball controlling abilities too. Only headers are not going to make him a good striker.

17 Jan 2012 07:56:00
If we do in ahead with a new build stadium then i think it is imperative that a lot of attention is paid to the accoustics of the place. We need a fortress where ou voices as the 12 man reverberate around the stadium like no other. The importance of the atmosphere can not be underestimated and should be a priority. How can we get this message across to fsg ed's? simsimo {Ed002's Note - Try shouting.}

I tried, Now i'm a little horse. Simsimo

A little horse?? neigh

Puzzled

I know what your saying mate, for example a bowl shaped stadium seems to amplify the noise inside. The new wembley echoes noise really well too although that could just be the size of the place. To be honest I'm just gutted to be leaving anfield hope atmosphere doesn't get left behind.
Shanks said it's not just a stadium it's a shrine. Sad day for Liverpool fans but every dark cloud has a silver lining as they say.

Non't know if anyone is interrested in this, but I have some inside information about our new kits from Warrior which has been presented to LFC.

The next home kit will bring back the old liverbird on the chest, a kind of retro kit. In addition to that, the new 3. kit will be purple!

You can Google it and get some mock up designs.

I think it's high time we try to get someone who is a lethal finisher and knows back of the net, We have Suarez for trickery, Gerrad for sublime passes, Downing and Adam are also not as bad as people are complaining and IMO Henderson has also added to the depth of our very weak squad. Carrol needs some very good service and Downing has to stop cutting in and start providing good supply to him.
Now if we get a good, proven finisher i believe we will win all the matches which we usually draw at home.
We have built a very good squad in summer now we need to plug the holes and get some big names besides Gerrad and Suarez.
Everyone is complaining about lack of goals but what you guys don't see is the meanest defense in the league .
Just add some goals and LFC is back where it belongs.

I have two words to say reguarding Liverpools fantastic defence this season "DANNY AGGER" another two words "SHEER CLASS". What a differance a fully fit Agger has made to the Liverpool defence this season. There were a few people on this site last summer saying sell Agger he is to injury prone.

A bit of realism at last!

Totally agree..! He is a world class defender and actually a leader in our team..
Agger, Reina, Gerrad, Carragher(a little bit now) are the soul and backbone of the team.!!

I agree, him and Agger are currently the best CB pairing in the league. Agger doesn't look as injury prone now so maybe it was just bad luck and not allowing him to regain full fitness? If only we had that pacey goal poacher then we'd be pushing for third or higher!

Great point about Agger.
I remember seeing a stat from last season, the 12 games after Kenny took over. It was something like:
With Agger, played 6, won 6.
Without Agger, played 6, won 1, drew 2, lost 3.
He's such a classy defender and at the moment him and Skrtel compliment each other very well.

Adidas have now confirmed they are parting company with Liverpool fc.

KNEE JERK

We knew that we would be going to warrior sports last season so no new news there lol

Yes i know! But there has been no confirmation from Adidas thats why i said Adidas have now confirmed! So there is news there then.

KNEE JERK

But they were stating the obvious. We already knew what they were going to be saying when they got around to saying it, so it isn't news.

Did Adidas confirm yesterday that they were parting from Liverpool no. Yes we all it was going to happen but now they have confirmed it with a statement saying so. Of which they have not done previously so this is news are you with me? We will get there in the end.

E.g like we know we maybe signing a player at some point, but when he does sign it will be confirmed wont it? Do you get it now sausage, all the best.

KNEE JERK

Good riddance. Crap, unimaginative shirts, that have not changed in forty years.
Our shirts are indistinguishable from Bayern, Spain, etc. They have even made a red shirt for Real that looks exactly like ours.
They pay Bayern more than twice as much and have the nerve to say we are not worth it! Do Bayern sell out stadiums in Asia? Douche bags.

I know a while back that addidas were interested in the new stadium naming rights but now I guess they cannot afford or been out bid on that issue.
Persumably they sent out confirmation to let clear that the new stadium won't be the Adidas stadium :(

I was up at 2am on the wekend to watch our boys live on television down here in Australia.

Yes, it was disappointing to see our boys draw again at home (and goalless at that), but I always stop to remember how lucky I am that get to sit in the comfort of my living room at an absurd hour to watch my beloved LFC.

It is a real emotional rollercoaster supporting the reds as we all know, but I like that. Don't get me wrong - I would love to walk the league undefeated and win it by a mile, but I still enjoy the privilege of watching my team and not knowing if we are going to kill the opposition or be frustrated again.

I love the unpredictability of football, and the part my team plays in it all.

I respect that not everyone feels the same, but I dont care - noone is going to bring me down during the season.

LIVERPRES

I'm in your boat mate, but i stayed up... nearly had to swim through the empty cans to get to bed, not to mention the saliva from shouting at poor old Dirk...

There isnt anything unpredictable about liverpool drawing games they should be winning! its been happening for years now!

The reason we don't have a genuine right sided player is that the current footballing trends have dictated a steady decline in the amount of traditional wide players with a good delivery. But given most british teams still value a pacy winger who can beat a man or two and get a good delivery onto a good striker, i feel our best options could well be british. As for who, well lets leave that to the scouts, but with modern tactics dictating a lot more players to cut-in and play a much more narrow game, the pickings will be more slim than we realise.

Nani may be a fishhead, but no one can deny he is a great player

Definitely Carrick & Berbatov, Djemba-Djemba, Taibi (still the worst Italian ever to play in England- oh how we love him!).

I can't criticize the Veron signing. I don't think anyone could at the time. I was terrified at the thought of him and Keane at Utd. Veron was a fantastic footballer. It just didn't happen for him. It happens.

Organizers are planning a Liverpool FC-AS Roma exhibition soccer game at Fenway Park this summer, according to multiple sources involved with the negotiations.

The match would be part of US tours for both teams, the first since controlling interest in the clubs was purchased by Boston-based investors. Liverpool, founded in 1891, was purchased in 2010 by Fenway Sports Group, headed by Red Sox owner John Henry (NBA star LeBron James is also an investor). AS Roma, founded in 1927, was taken over last year by a group which includes Red Sox minority owner Thomas DiBenedetto and Celtics owner James Pallotta.

The game would be part of a tournament involving Chelsea FC and, possibly, Celtic FC. Matches will also be held in Chicago (Comiskey Park or Wrigley Field) and New York (Yankee Stadium.

Dates have not been set. Liverpool has tentatively made reservations to be in the Boston area from June 20 through July 4

A loyal red all my life and love Kenny, great man manager but transfer history has been abismal, carroll can do a job with right service but will never be a house hold name other than in jokes but will score goals, Downing has never had a finish to his game always running up blind alleys to the corner flag, henderson needs a season or 2 on the fringes will come good but 20 mill is too much to pay for a player who might come good after the current manager has moved on, Kenny and the rest of us need the players to do the job now.

Enrique was a comoli signing i say leave a few more to him and we might get the next couple right as i said Kennys right for the club and for motivating players, but he cant spot talent until its playing against us!

Suarez talking up national team mates, Coutinho is not the Serie A player coming in, its his national teammate Cavani of Napoli..... Can Kenny afford not to keep Luis happy?

Mmmm, so is Fergies and Mourinhos.
And Rafa.
And Mankini.

The difference is that ours aren't flops yet and we aren't paying astronomical wages for them. So you can slag Kenny off but some of the greatest managers pay more than require at times, enough to call it a regular occurance, but I, aswell as any other true reds, have faith in Kenny and he will bring this club to its former glory.

Sinclair n Dyer have been linked with us but ZAHA would b a decent signing.

Wat u reckon?
I think COATES should maybe go on loan to prem club like norwich, bolton or swansea? He NEEEDS games.

F5

Loan WILSON. he needs games. COATES gets some games atleast, when WILSON doesnt at all.

Danny Wilson is already out on loan to Blackpool.

We can let Coates go on loan. Injuries can kick in anytime so no need to take that risk. He will get more games later on in the season.

Would like to ask ed will the club use the 2008 AFL design for a new ground.The 72.000 instead of the 60.000 design done in 2000.As it looks as if were moving with latest reports.MATTYLFC {Ed005's Note -Nothing is known yet but if you believe recent reports we will be using the 2000 design as a benchmark for a new stadium.}

hey Eds...Ive been probably one of Carroll's biggest critics so far, just checked him in his Newcastle days on you tube cos cant believe even the mighty reds would mess up this badly....he hasnt just lost half a yard of pace...he was quite quick...strong as an ox and didnt have too bad a first touch for a big man...just concluded either hes drinking to excess or hes still injured and this is the real reason why hes rested...what do you think? {Ed001's Note - I just think he is training so hard he is not yet up to strength. It will take him time to build up his stamina to the level we need.}

Ed's right, He's showing signs of this all working too, give it a while and see what happens.

Red7.

Plus I reckon his link up play is far better now than it was in his Newcastle days. Kenny and Steve Clarke are trying to make him a complete player and they know it will take time, they have the patience and so should we. YNWA Andy!

I agree, they obviously want Carroll to become the perfect player as he has height, strength and a hell of a left boot but if he becomes reasonably fast, good control and able to turn defenders who will be able to stop him? They are building him for the future, a future where £35million will look reasonable. Give him a chance and he will repay everyone the faith the have invested. No faith = Waste of £35million.

The Andy Carroll of Newcastle was a big lump that the whole team played around. The reason why he could bully defenders was because of his sheer weight, but that would cause long term injury problems if he kept it on. It looks like the Liverpool physios/coaches/dieticians are trying to turn the fat to muscle, which means you have to lose the weight first, then replace it with muscle. That could explain the reason why he keeps falling on his ar*e.
