I would like to see us go for david villa with a loan to buy and an alonso type player to take over the midfield.

To old! Always injured!

Hi Eds

Reds are interested in Jose Callejon... Fact or fiction?

Cheers, and great job on the site

Eds what are your opinions on LFC' s transfer activity over the last few years? Seems pretty dire to me. Sturridge? Its happening all over again paying inflated prices for average players. What's wrong with our scouting system, there are plenty of decent forwards out there that would not demand CL or ridiculously high wages, we just don't seem to show any interest in them. Its almost as if were on the look out for mediocre players!

"there are plenty of decent forwards out there that would not demand CL or ridiculously high wages"

Such as who?

Michu, Fellani, Jelavic, Berbatov, Ba ,Defoe to name but a few !! Beardsley's Boot's

Why would any of those strikers move to us unless we offered a lot better wages?

Take a look at the teams with proper scouts: Cisse, Ba, Michu, Benteke and co. Why do we bother with scouts. We'll just buy more expensive local carp. {Ed002's Note - Sterling, Suso, Suarez, Lucas, ....}

Really BR you said we would be excited about Allen and borini and we were definately not! Remember who you are managing we have always had top players. If those two were top players then I am really concerned after your comments today about January spending...

Why have we done poorly in recent years do you think people. It's because since Hodgson has taken over we have started to try and sign average players. Look at spurs they don't spend as much as us but try and get quality. Levy is going to sign eriksen by the looks of it too. Take note BR.

Ok there is only one man who can raise this great club to where it belongs ......... That man, which If FSG have true and genuine ambition need to pull out all the stops for is ....JOSE MOURINHO......... !

Pay him what he wants, give him a huge transfer budget and entrust him as Manager.

Before I get slated, hear me out .... He has won every major honour, he would galvanise the Kop, the team, the fans and the City.

FSG should sell it as his greatest triumph - bringing us back to the top where we belong.

We were once close to bringing him here, FSG now need to be revolutionary in their approach ....yes there would be upheaval, yes there would be some anger .....but ultimately he delivers success.

Sometimes tough good decisions need to be made when earlier bad decisions have led to failure.

Of course people would say JM would never come here and that's why FSG should pull out all the stops to persuade him.

JM manager of LIVERPOOL FC.....it has success written all over it.

VK

But its not going to happen!

His success has been with clubs who have almost unlimited budgets (except Porto who are in a 'lesser' league). Brendon Rogers could be successful at Chelsea, Inter and Madrid with the money Maureen got to spend.

Id prefer benitez over him, in thousand years, didnt u c it want to give a proper budget 2 mou so he can make us win again, and benitez hasent spend the amount of money in his 5 years at liverpool, since he left lfc has spent more money, in transfer, imagine if that budget wudve been given to benitez, were wud we be.

17 Dec 2012 23:41:00
Vk mate mourinho said he will never manage us he even have criticise us many times saying we are small club. Just check in google

Aye .... But whoever though Rafa would go to Chelsea....

Stranger things have happened in the past - Sir Matt Busby used to be the capt of LFC, then asst manager, even took Bob Paisley under his wing ....but LFC let him go ....where did he end up MAN U......! We lost out on a legend there.

We need to make LFC a 'bastion of invincibility' ...Long live Shanks!

VK

Jose loves liverpool fc check it out he may not want to be our manager thats only because he needs lots of cash to get the players he wants to make a team that gives him a better chance to win things. ynwa

Mourinho is currently masterminding Real Madrid to 3rd; he truly is a great manager. To get 3rd with the players he has available is astonishing. Ronaldo, Oezil and Benzema are terrible but he is getting the best out of them. He has somehow found a way to be out of the title race before Christmas and behind Athletico. Hardly any manager in the world could achieve that.

He is also overturning the big egos and downsizing. Expect Ronaldo, Ramos and Cassillas to move over the next 12 months. I salute Mourinhos creativity and management that he has shown in achieving such a hard task. Managing to turn 2 lifelong fans and world class players to players who want to leave due to his ego.

reading alot about sturridge and walcott. do we really need or want to sign these players one plays regular and in my opinion has never really done alot playing in a decent side, the other nobody has any idea what he would do week in week out as we only see part bits of him.and we would be held to ransom by chelsea with the amount they want for him and if he that good y dont chelsea want to keep him and walcott would be wanting top money.think we should go for huntellar great player proven great bond with suarez yes he 29 but would get moneys worth out of him for 2 to 3 years,

Walcott scored again tonight! And looked very happy! Thought he was nailed on not to sure now?

Walcott is really class nowdays. Would take him in a heartbeat. Just worry re: injuries. Sturridge looks a tosser.

17 Dec 2012 22:38:52
Sturridge is nailed on for January. Walcott is a maybe. Don't expect too much in January though. More money will be spent in the summer from the sales of Carroll, Downing and Henderson. The main thing FSG are looking at is getting a striker in.

If we do get a CF in Jan and just miss out on 4th can we blame FSG? We all knew we needed in the summer already.

17 Dec 2012 22:38:50
Arsenal bad loss to Bradford last week, good win at Reading this week.
In the old days that was the way it was with us if we had a bad result? Someone had to pay? Normally it was the next team up, no matter who that maybe.
The response in the coming weeks should tell us quite a bit about our Manager and the players.

Ed, With the world about to end this Friday, could Macca or
someone say now who we were going to sign in January.(i think it was going to be Cavani).
Also, does anyone know what time on Friday the apocalypse is to happen,as i was hoping to get in one last fry up at my local cafe, but they stop serving breakfast at 10.30am.

Red Jay.

{Ed033's Note - The alleged exact time when Our Sun is in direct alignment with the center of the milky way galaxy (other people say end of the world) is exactly 11 minutes past 11 o'clock in the morning GMT on 21 December 2012. Most of us on planet Earth will still be here in January 2013 so you'll find out for sure then. And think it about it, if you knew exactly what was going to happen in the future, it actually wouldn't be much fun being here on Earth, unless you're a gambleholic.

Looks like you have just enough time to get that fry up down then get home to pay the milkman. Don't rush though you don't want a stitch for them final moments after all that bacon lol

MIKEY

Don't tell me the final Liverpool game EVER was a 3-1 home loss to Villa?

Can't help but feel my post has been altered somewhat by an editor there.
Not many of us will have the milkman on the mind when Armageddon comes. Lol

To half the posters on here that 3-1 loss was the end of the world mate haha

Great, so we won't be signing a CF before the world ends...lol

Just seen the league table....grim reading...20 frickin points behind the mancs...not even half way through the season...ohhhh dear...and BR reckons we should aim high...maybe 8th is a good place to start!!

Neilos

BR already said finishing anywhere above 8th would be progress

I suggest that you stop reading and believing out of context quotes taken from cheap media outlets whom dislike Liverpool FC

BR actually said finishing 4th for a club the size Of Liverpool should not be seen as an incredible achievement. A club LIKE liverpool should be aiming higher than that like finishing above man city i.e competing for the title

That DOESNT mean he meant doing it this season

So get off his back

Cheers

Shak Attack

Yes also Fergie been at the for 15yrs plus. Brendan been here 6months, so in no way compare the two. Get use to BR being here, FSG are not going to get rid, whether you like it or not! He is doing great work with little resources. Wait until at least after next summers transfer window before we judge.

Lee73

He is a 'small time manager, with ambition and ability to match'.

This is what BR said actually

"For me the ambition is to grow higher. We are 11 points off second and that can all turn around very quickly so you need to get consistency - and that is what we have at the minute."

Why did he mention 2nd place at all?
I ma now wondering who is manipulating the information?....Media outlets or You?

LiverBird

Br will be judged in the next 6 games .

So here goes the merry go round of rubbish rumours...I am watching the arsenal game and all the talk of walcott must stop...I know he has just scored but my god...he is a pacy pony...he has had about 5 attempts at goal and scored 1...the rest at the keeper...then again, maybe he will fit it with our team...a midfielder/forward who cannot score goals ha ha

Neilos

Oh please mate, he's better than anything we have attacking wise other than Suarez

Can i suggest with the way some people are moaning that they sit and watch "1 night in may".

Forget about the bitching and moaning and just remember that feeling, and myself personally will take all the lows and more that come with being a fan just knowing how much sweeter it will be when it happens again when ever that maybe.

Yesterday has gone forever but tomorrow has not started come on you reds .red mick tag ynwa

Do you see United fans talk about their miracle against Bayern in 1999 when they are losing a game 0-1? No.. And the team never gives up without a fight...You need to wake up and smell the coffee...This is 2012, arguably one of our poorest years performance wise...unfortunately many of our fans are still living ine the 80s and 90s and use the sam e of Istanbul as an excuse to rant..Things must improve quickly and it is hard to find many positives..and I am a Liverpool fan..

Alright guys - Ed/s.

Hope everyone's well. Just on the topic of Ince. Before I begin, I will say I'm ignorant enough to have not seen this lad play football at all, so I have no idea how well he's playing for Blackpool at the moment and if he was playing well with us; but is he really the answer to our problems? A young striker(?) that isn't proven on the big scale? That seems to be what we need in my opinion (a proven striker), unless you lot disagree?

Sturridge also? Are these the players that can rejuvenate us? Maybe I'm being too negative, because I would be happy if we brought them two in, but maybe I'm just hoping for some bigger news. Signing another Suárez (I mean in ability level) would be fantastic.

I 100% understand that players like Cavani and the likes won't come to Liverpool at the moment, but how ever will they? Do we have to play these slightly un-proven players until we do reach the top 3 again and then hopefully get interest from the top players? Do we just have to offer massive wages?

This isn't a negative aimed towards Liverpool Football Club, just some brainstorming and thinking.

YNWA.
Thanks, Ell.

Having recently posted some, shall we say, sharp remarks about FSG and BR I've come to a point where sensibility should prevail and we all need to get behind the TEAM.

However a plea to FSG and BR

FSG - please understand that the fans of this great club are its heartbeat. See how the fans left Anfield early on Saturday. Something I have never witnessed and fear that if investment is not made will escalate into just not coming to Anfield to watch their team because they feel let down.

BR - you said you will do things the 'Liverpool way.' You haven't up to now......

Please keep your academic and theory vocals to a minimum ie shut your mouth and get on with your work in making LFC successful on the pitch.

Please keep your vocals about player contracts to a zero ie shut your mouth and deal with your team affairs behind closed doors

Ditch the superlatives when the performances have been poor ..... Or you will get the nickname 'Comedy Rodgers' and you will lose all credibility

The long and short of it is less talk more action and results.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Don't think FSG care, or are even listening.

They have ears everywhere

Big ears is working for FSG

17 Dec 2012 21:12:17
Just a question for all the so called knowledgeable liverpool fans on this site if BR isn't the right man for the job and should be sacked who shall we get in as manager?? Klopp, Guardiola, Mourinho?? As all of us who live in the real world know they won't come so let's get behind BR and give him a chance to build his own team. LMC

The Liverpool board went for an unproven but cheap option. Rodgers is not a better manager than either Van Gaal or Rafa, and both of wanted the job.

Drizzt

Drizzt, no disrespect mate but Rafa hardly doing a blinding job at Chelsea with the team they have.
Looks like Klopp will be Chelsea's next manager so forget him in future.
Lee73

Drizzt, they bought him for his philosophy. The long term option that will benefit the club and make it self-efficient.

BthekingB

Are you serious, self sufficient and long term planning, what has Brendan Rodgers ever done to prove he is going to be successful, that was guff talk from FSG and we all bought it.

Just like we can't attract top players anymore, the same is true of managers.

They brought him in as a yes man

17 Dec 2012 21:08:44
Ed...I have been an LFC supporter for over 40 years and I must confess that I am yet to be convinced by BR. I admit he's had to contend with what must be one of the lowest quality sides I can remember but at times the way we approach the opposition baffles me. Against we were very good for the first 15 minutes but we allowed Villa too much space for their counter attack since we were not compact enough. Being compact and cohesive is the hallmark of a winning side but I guess we are not there yet. Also, we need an injection of quality and pace in midfield. The ageing Gerrard, the ineffective Allen, the still not 100 per cent fit Lucas, and the inept Hendo, cannot give us the edge over anyone top class team or a team that is on form like Villa. I am beginning to think that January could be the most important transfer window yet for BR. It's make or break. I also think all the talk of Sturridge is just talk. I think BR has another target in mind and he won't be English. What do you think Ed? {Ed002's Note - There is very, very clear interest in Sturridge - whether anything happens or not is another matter.}

'The most Important Transfer window yet for BR' - what given that this is only his 2nd transfer window since he got here! He's been with club for 7 months. If we are only going to trust our lfc managers on 2 transfer windows we'll become like chelski. We will need to put in a revolving door outside the managers office at melwood!
Boysie-red

Don't agree on the lowest quality: Goals change games: We need a centre forward and a goalkeeper.
We need to take enough of the chances we create and at the other end anything on target has a real good chance of hitting the back of our net.

Liver bird the answer to your points before

1. Couldn't you just look it as how good "smaller" teams have been? You could argue both ways in my opinion a lot of teams have played really well this season.

2. I'm talking about passing and possession? He's played different formations to custom to different sides? I can remember him changing the formation and it working really well formation isn't his vision of style of play is?

3.you can mention them games but alot of them we deserved more then what we got? Man c for example I doubt in a few seasons skittle would of made that mistake and we would have a better side?

Your judging players based on how long? Allen is young he's moved to a big club. Remember a player named Lucus? Not saying he's going to become another Lucus but my point is your not giving him a Chance at all. Nt to mention borini?! He's had like 5 games moving to the hardest league in the world?! What's wrong with you people judging him (he's a striker)

Dempsey is not a striker but I he was looking at moving players around in the front 3 which Dempsey can do. He didn't make a grave mistake FSG did. They've learnt and I think this January will be good. But van Persie really?! That's your example? I'm not even going to start on the Aston villa example because of a decent game against us?

Red twist

Red Twist,

1. You answered yourself again. Why are smaller teams with lesser transfer spends and lesser resources and a new manager in some cases (like Hughton at Norwich) are doing better than Brendan Rodgers?

2. These are good times when words like passing and possession are being thrown around.

Last season, we were second placed behind Barcelona in terms of possession in the opposition half.

What style are you talking about when the team played in 37 crosses against Aston Villa in desperation?

What was the point of shipping out Andy Carroll then if Brendan Rodgers cant coach the frontline players to use intricate movements to carve out the opposition defence?

3. We deserve more than what we have got?....That was the same last season as well...You have to stop at some point and start judging who or what is wrong....

At the moment I think Brendan Rodgers ,with his 30 million net outlay and public criticism of the previous regimes, is at fault.

Today he has effectively said that January will not solve our problems effectively meaning that his mistakes in January will have cost us a season.

He needs to watch his mouth because he is talking about another "FUNDAMENTAL" change now.

Last season, all the players brought in were judged on the basis of half a season or a season, so why change the rules now...After all it was Brendan Rodgers who came in and said that the players were not good enough....

Now if the ones he brings in are not good even under him, then who else should we fault?

Dempsey has had one STAND OUT season and that was in the "Stevie G behind Torres" role...He is nowhere else as prolific, as he was last season, when played else where and especially in a 4-3-3 where the three in the middle are not that prolific.....

Van Persie is a new signing for Man Utd and has scored 12 goals

Benteke is a new signing for Aston Villa and has scored 8 goals

How many goals/assists do our new signings have?

LiverBird

Allen has scored 88 goals

Or was that Messi?

Correction :

"his mistakes in the summer of 2012"
instead of
"his mistakes in January"

Eds ,fellow reds , is Borini back in light training yet or is that mid jan {Ed002's Note - Plan is available for selection mid January.}

17 Dec 2012 20:50:12
gonna start by saying im not a bitchy poster eds can check my previous posts (if possible) but liverpools knack of finding quality players in recent years has been some of the poorest in the league when you consider the money available benitez and staff were the best of a bad bunch but they were hit and miss yes alonso, torres, reina benitez i believe had prearranged the suarez deal 2 before leaving but riera nunez arbeloa downing hendo konchesky.morientes the list goes on all under performers.brought in by three diff managers.point being rodgers should be very careful about who he signs because this is a pattern that must be broke immediately.i dont know what has went on behind closed doors but hopefully the right changes have been made

Shevchenko, Veron, Anderson, Chamakh.....all teams sign their fair share of lemons mate

Arbeloa was a good right back so he should be taken off the miss list!

17 Dec 2012 20:38:12
Milan do not wish to sell Alexsandre Pato they want to let him go on loan.

Maybe an option Brodgers is interested in.

What you guys think? {Ed002's Note - They have an offer on the table for cash and two options on players. He is injured again.}

I know is a 15 million bid from a brazilian side but i think Barbara wants her boy to stay in italy dough. {Ed002's Note - It does not work like that - and they will be interested in teh player options.}

17 Dec 2012 20:23:54
The fans who think FSG will sell liverpool its not going to happen coz

1) FSG will demand more then 500M if they will sell

2) The squad is weaker compare to first they bought us so it means any owner buying us will need to invest more then 200-250M to move us foward. So it will coast him more then 800M where the club value is half of 800M which will not going to happen

3)At the sametime he will need to solve stadium issues which will coast another 250M-300M

4)In short To make Liverpool successful again its needed more then 1Billion.

{Ed002's Note - This is just nonsense again.}

17 Dec 2012 20:23:42
If reina is to leave in the near future who are the most likely candidates to replace him... Personally think this season he looks to have lost all confidence in the defence and in his own ability

PHILpip125

I don't think Reina has lost confidence in Agger or Skrtel i think he's lost confidence in the defence's tactic's! As the two centre back's are being told play wider apart from each other leaving big gap's in our defence which leave's Reina vunerable!

17 Dec 2012 20:22:32
Walcott's just missed a sitter against Reading - so we don't want him

Why not? Thought he would fit in with the other misfiring misfits.

Messi missed a sitter the other day. would we not want him

Praying that was sarcasm or I might have just lost faith in humanity an everyone involved with LFC

Walcott wants to be a striker - haha

17 Dec 2012 20:18:03
Dear Eds, we've been linked with a host of players moving to Liverpool in January, but have you heard when the club actually expect any signings.

Most fans will be hoping for a signing the minute Big Ben's stopped chiming but realistically will it be nearer the end of January (when the end of transfer window gets Sky TV very excited) {Ed002's Note -We cannot say when.}

Sturridge is probabley going to liverpool

17 Dec 2012 20:16:08
Ter Stegen, Honda, ince, sturridge & walcott in

Reina, downing, Pacheco and Henderson out

how much do you reckon Bacary Sagna would cost?

I know weve heard it all before but i was told by a very reliable source at Anfield that it is a done deal for Sturidge in January

i also hope liverpool dont sell Henderson i feel he as a bright future here along with Pacheco

I would get shut off Joe Cole and Downing looking to bring Nani in from the Mancs {Ed002's Note - There is no "done deal" for Sturridge.}

17 Dec 2012 19:50:02
I think casemeiro could do a toure or diame role for us in midfield. I watched him in the u20 world cup and he was like a bulldozer going forward and then I see him 2 mins later putting in a cruncher on somebody. He'd cost about 10m. Definetely worth the money.

We all know are need for at least one natural goalscorer but as much as it pains me to say it. Gerard needs replacing ASAP. We are looking to him to be our creative spark and find that final pass and it simply isn't there. With Allen and Lucas in the same team who are steady but not creative enough in the final third. We lack that creative spark that change a game. Isco, benat, eriksen. Are players we should be serious about. Dave

An extra attacking midfielder could either get the best out of Gerard could be a contingency plan if it is bad as feared

I would love Honda to replace Gerrard!

Anyone who wants to get rid of Rodgers is a fool. You can't keep going through managers rapid fire. No one is going to turn the team around in one season. Let alone the half season Rodgers has been here. If we get rid of Brendan then its another new manager who has to get his kind of players. Then if he doesn't pull a miracle and turn it around in 6 months do we fire him too?

Rodgers needs to be given at the very least 2 full seasons. That's at the least.

I don't want to get rid of him. I'm happy to see the 3 years through. I just hope he learns quickly from his mistakes and dilutes the post match sales pitch. As things stand,I'm not impressed although time will tell.

those expecting a striker forget it . br will not change from 4-3-3. will never play two up top, his 4-3-3 is set in stone and will not deviate from it . it will be someone like sturridge who cuts in . the next time liverpool play a front two br will not be the manager. as a man who is a mourinhio protege why does he want to play the barca way which is the complete opposite to way mourhinio plays. were becoming a team of diddy men.

I'm fairly certain that when we played three centre backs against Wigan no one thought the line up was 433.....

But hey Ho what do I know.

BigBadBen

We changed against everton to 3 at the back and 2 up top, we started against chelsea with 3 at the back and 2 up top.

Borini £12m and now sturridge we want to pay £15m. why we like to pay much to unproven player. we are not ready to pay £5m for Dampsy but £15m for sturridge ?

hhh

Yep makes no sense, how do we have money now when we had only £2m in the summer for Dempsey.

Think many on here are expecting to much in Jan.

Why not Alexis Sanchez? Could be new #9! He hasn't gotten on all that well at barca Iam thinking we could seriously be a thought as its guaranteed playing time which he'll get here

Would love Sanchez intelligent movement in & around the box & sharp finishing ability just think it unlikely though...

The attitude some of these posters have towards each other is utter disgraceful.
When I'm in a pub (or anywhere for that matter) with a group of random Liverpool fans we all just get along, even if we have different matters of opinion about our club. It should be the same on this site.
We're all in the same boat together, we should get behind our team, support them an respect each other

Sturridge to LFC, Gomis to Chelsea ?

Would seem a solution for everyone.

I'd prefer Gomis

Hey guys, Eds

Just wanted to give my opinion of the team and areas where we should look to improve.

I have to admit that i did not want BR in charge when we were looking for a manager but now he is here i will support him and give him time as he is changing things at the club by indroducing a new philosophy to the old regimes at the same time as getting rid of older and deadwood players - for that reason this is a transitional season for us.

it is evident that we need forward players in the next window as Suarez is too isolated. I like Sterling but he needs to be dropped for next couple of games as he has been poor lately. I also think that we need a powerful (Yaya Toure) type player in midfield as we are to weak in the middle. We constantly get overun in this area.

We also lack much pace or height in the midfield or attacking areas which i believe should be addressed. Before you all state we had Caroll and how this didn't work, i mean a player that is more mobile than AC - Sturridge may be that answer.

This January is a big window for us, any money we have needs to be used wisely. After Jan transfers we may finally see BRs tactics coming to fruition.

Did anyone else watch those 'Being Liverpool' documentary episodes, I'd like to know what you guys think?

They're a wee bit cheesy and gringey all the same, especially when our lads are meetin the Red Sox baseball team,
(haha, I doubt any of the americans had any clue what Carragher was sayin)

Worth a watch for any Liverpool fan though I suppose, at least it gave us fans some kind of insight into Rodgers half time team talks

Ed002,

With reference to whether Roy should be part of the coaching set up, it was a tongue in cheek comment on my part...

I am definitely not very knowledgeable as far as Roy and his coaching is concerned, there is no doubt that he presided over one of the most exciting periods in the history of Premier League football...

Its just that with every passing week, my conviction that Kenny should have been given more time gets stronger and stronger....And hence there is a sense of disappointment which comes out through the posts...

But by no means did I mean to disrespect Roy !!
By all accounts your comments and observations are held in high regard

17 Dec 2012 18:48:50
Ed2 your trying to ignore the Question

How come owners says indirectly they are regretting buying livepool coz they didnt know financial aspects to run club like Liverpool.

Then whose mistake is that are they fool it means they were quick to buy the club when they saw its value was down before even thinking or knowing anything.

{Ed002's Note - I know of nothing where the owners have said the regretted buying the club because of the financial aspects. What they said was they were surprised how expensive running the club is. I really cannot comprehend what you are trying to say in the second paragraph.}

This site should change it's name to bash the manager?

BR has not even been in the job for half a season. He took control of a team which has not finished in the top four since 2009/2010. He has not made the team his own yet either. He needs at least another two transfer windows to add the players he requires to make this system work properly. Another thing is that Suarez is our main goal threat. If you had to add two more regular goalscorers to the current picture then talk of BR is rubbish would not exist...

The squad is ultra thin. Compare us to City, Chelsea Spurs etc then you will realise the task at hand for Rodgers. Rodgers is and never was a short term appointment and that is what some will have to get used to.

FSG are not going to get rid of Rodgers just because certain fans are unhappy...

I love it when people use 'fickle football fans' as a supposed come back or insult. There is nothing in the world more fickle and hypocritical than football! We all know this deep down, and i'm quite comfortable in my fickleness! Everton fans wanted Suarez dead after the derby, yet Fellaini headbutts Shawcross and it's Shawcrosses fault! We all hate Torres, but if he ended up coming back to us and scoring goals, the majority of us would love him again. I don't think there is anything in the world Suarez could do to make us not love him as long as he is banging the goals in! We make excuses for the worse behaviour, and condemn people for scoring goals against us! We dislike people purely based on who they play for! Come on, it's football not real life! Doesn't mean we dont love it, and follow it like its a religion, but come on, really? To suggest we're not all a tiny bit fickle is a ridiculous statement to make!

I don't hate Torres.

Hi ED do you know what the deal with Oussama Assaidi. I read that BR said that Allen and Raheem need to be rested I think Oussama Assaidi and Suso would be the best players to step into there roles. 17 Dec 2012 16:51:36
Just a quick thought. from looking at our play against villa we are missing flair like we used to have when stevie was on top form and when miereles was with us under Kenny. johnson and downing were just crossing the ball in, obviously for shelvey but he is not great in the air. so we need a striker who is not just good with his feet but with his head. I think Ince will come as another alternative to Raheem quick and can score so for 6 mill that isnt baddddd.

Jeffren don't know how great he is but he was good at barca, but small so no point crossing balls in.

If we could get two players in, stay with me on this one its hard i know but holtby and jan klass. they know each other well and play in a hard league.

But we will end up with sturridge he is ok, confident and can run with the ball.

HRED

17 Dec 2012 16:46:02
Let's face it we are rubbish, when ever I see the likes of downing and cole on the team sheet I don't even bother watching the game.
I know what fans are going to say "back your team""support your team"blah blah blah but if that's the type of football I have to watch week in week out watching players on £50.000 a week plus playing park football then why waste my time??

Why burden us with your thoughts
Just stop moaning Do One
and find another team for the to swear your undying love for!

Lyndin

I'm as critical as anyone of Cole and Downing.

But Gerrard should be dropped. Why the reluctance to say it?

There is talk of resting Allen and Sterling, which is reasonable - yet Gerrard has been our worst player this season (of those who have played regularly) with Reina a close 2nd.

I've not missed a game either. I have been watching.

His lack of work-rate has been shameful. This sets a terrible example to the youngsters. The rest of his game has been sloppy too.

Watch him defensively.

Arms outstretched, standing off players so they can just pass the ball around him. Essentially pretending to be trying to defend.

Losing possession and just giving up on it. Never tracking back when we lose the ball - although he insists on dropping deep when we have the ball - even though he should be concentrating on getting forward when we have the ball - as there are other players to play the deeper midfield roles..

What happened to the high-tempo pressing game that BR talked of?

Some players certainly do try to put pressure on the opposition, but SG is not one of them.

If BR doesn't deal with this, it WILL cost him his job eventually.

And if he doesn't deal with it. He'll only have himself to blame.

SG is clearly in my top 10 LFC players ever, and of course he has the ability to get back in the team. But seriously, he doesn't deserve his place atm.

BJH YNWA

ps - Can someone explain the insistence of Carra as backup CD? If Coates leaves as a result of this pandering, what a loss that will prove to be. Very short-sighted imo.

If you consider watching a game of football where the team you "love" are playing is a waste of time, then you clearly do not love the club and aren't a proper supporter.

Too be honest i do not care if he is not comfortable, he is not playing to a standard that he can justify his place in the team week in week out. I would not have an issue with him going back to Real at end of the season. I think with Lucas, Shelvey, Suso, Allen and Hendo we have a decent enough midfield.

17 Dec 2012 15:48:12
I back Rodgers and our players BUT the defeat against Villa was a Disgrace!
The fact is some players are not good enough or ready.
Downing has played decent but he is a failed winger for us and is not a LB. Sterling is only 18 n Shelvey is young and is not a forward to be playing in the front 3.
However I also think Rodgers got it wrong tactically.
We conceded 3 against a team that only managed 4 away goals all season b4 this plus they we're kids most 23 and Under.
I agree we should be playing the right way pass and move but the fact is we're not Barca and we're playing in the PL
I bet u if Barca played in the PL they would drop more points than they do in La Liga because in la liga teams are more technical and 'play' football were as the PL is more physical with long balls and parking the bus.
We need to play according to the situation add a bit more of direct football and I don't mean long ball to Carrol. F that. I mean sometimes a deep cross, a diagnal ball, a ball floated over the top, a Alonso style pass.
Look at Manu U and Fergie, do they play a certain style. No. They just play with 2 wide players attacking putting balls in with as many players in attacking positions and in the box taking as many shots.
We need some variation with the style, have more players in attacking pos. And in the box.
We have been linked with Ince & Sturridge ok their decent players but we should get a proper ST, we have been linked with Yilmaz which I think is unlikely as he jus signed in the summer with Gala but we should look at the likes of Ba,Bony etc. Good goalscorers with a decent price BUT someone who can score different type of goals and someone who is strong.
I have noticed our Mid is physically weak and gets pushed through but I don't knw if its jus something that we'll fix as the team gels as Lucas is top class and Allen is a good player but their both physically weak. We need someone who is strong and gritty and can push through midfields and defences. Yes a DIAME. I actually wanted us to sign him as a back up to Lucas but now it seems he's good enough to be a starter, or Moussa Sissoko, we need a Gerrard type as he winds down we need a replacement someone like him who is a engine box to box a power house who can burst through oppostion when plan A of passing isn't working a Viera/Toure type. Henderson has been getting better but if a decent offer comes we should let him go and also don't sign sahin. Get a Physical type midfielder or a playmaker type, a Diame or a Mata type.

If Rodgers is given time and makes good signings I truly believe we can be a top side again.
He just needs to add more to his tika taka have some variation and have a plan B.

F5

We need a proper back o the net centre forward and a proper game saving goalkeeper. These are probably the 2 major positions on a football field and were lacking in both.

Hi Eds

Just read in the mirrior that we have the same sort of wages on offer for players as aston villa. have things really gone that bad as wages define the quality you can attract nowadays you might get lucky with the odd signing but usually you get what you pay for. if this is true we may as well forget about top 4 never mind winning the league dont get me wrong i support the team no matter what but i was really thinking we could turn this round soon 2 r 3 quality signings could really make us put a good run togeather.Tommy Irish Red

One problem we have (and apologies, Eds, as I know this isn't your favored topic) is that the quartet of Reina, Gerrard, Carragher, and Cole, as an example, are costing us over 20M per year. We need to continue moving on some of these older players who are not contributing to the level at which they are being paid. Until that happens, things are going to be difficult for us.

Fully agree -carra in front of coates as sub is a joke.
Got the best out of Reina his confidence is now so low ( a la torres) that his performances are being affected--1st goal against Villa was a shocker.
I feel Gerrard is finished as a 38 game a season player should be used on a selective basis for 20-25 games per season.
Cole has never settled down at Anfield-it is unlikely that will ever change.

Red Twist, once you have taking your head out of Shak's backside, can you give me 3 reasons why you think BR is doing a fantastic job, or why you think he will be a legend .. You see when these whingers come along I would like some ammunition to fire back at them ... and I cant think for myself so can you give me what I should post back at them.
Appreciated

Roy

Shaks the main person I can think of recently that talks sense there are other posters as well it's just been him alot recently.

Firstly are league position is 12th one win will change that as we saw last week everyone was going on about being forth now it's all doom and gloom. You people complaining I can't see how you can't actually see us playing well with no end finish? How can you my actually see that? Fair enough kenny would off as well but he's gone get over it. If we don't get a good striker in January I will eat my words. I'd also like to point out we have been unlucky with ref decisions it's not all down to that but it's been quite a few points which them points will put us up the league

Second reason he has vision and style. He's wants us to play the pass and move game and you can see that coming through but how niave are you to think we can get that I'm sixth months? It takes time but it will work as you've seen at Barcelona. (Not saying we're near as good as Barcelona yet and we will be slightly different but it works.)

Lastly the guy is very tatically aware and is going to learn by mistakes. He's made subs that have changed the impact of the game and he can read the game. (He's not a magican so not every game but for example west ham). Id also like to point out he's good at finding gems in my opinion think about Swansea last year with sig he can get people playing well.

That is all.

Red twist

Well said!

K79

Red Twist,

Here are the answers to your views.

1. You have answered yourself here. The fact that we are just 6 points off the top four is not a reflection on how good we are.

Instead it reflects how poor Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton are.

2. Vision and Style...Please give me a break....He has often played 3 at the back with two wingbacks...Often Enrique would be the only one consistently attacking effectively making it a back four....nothing new there....Plus he has played many variations of 4-3-3....that would be 4-1-2-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-5-1, 4-2-1-3 and even 3-4-3 at times...

So where is the vision and style you are talking about?

3. I would agree here...He is Mourinho inspired here and his game management is superior to that of Rafa, Hodgson or Kenny. Tactically he is well equipped.

The issue I have with Rodgers he is often seen talking a good game but you need to walk the talk.

I dont remember a single game this year when we have played the opposition off the park and won the match convincingly apart from Carrow Road...

We have lost to Man Utd, Tottenham, and Arsenal and drawn with Chelsea and Man City.

Means we stand bottom in this mini league and Brendan Rodgers is talking about 2nd place...

None of his signings have made any impact. From Man Utd (Van Persie) to Aston Villa (Benteke), most clubs have had one successful singing...We have none....

After spending 30 million net in the summer in addition to running down the transfer values of the players at Liverpool (by baring all infront of media), I dont think you can say that he can spot talent or manage transfer windows....

The problem is not as bad as you think....Its worse... I just hope he is talented enough to understand the grave mistakes he has commited during the transfer window...

Leaving the squad with just two senior strikers simply exposed Brendan Rodger and yes clint Dempsey is NO STRIKER

Hi all,

I would like to start an adult discussion with everyone (refraining from name calling and crying) as to what they would have done when planning the future of LFC?

Would just be interesting to hear different opinions as to what they would have planned when the club almost folded with crippling debts?

And what should be the steps forward now? Stick or twist?

I am not looking for an argument with people, just to hear what THEY would do?

Fowler99

Fowler99 there was never any danger of liverpool folding there would of been no end of buyers for the club, just fsg got there 1st,so dont kid yourself thinking that would ever happen to this club, potential to make money is to great, and wake up and stop deluding yourself thinking fsg are the best thing since sliced bread, not arguing with you just telling you how it is.rd

I think we all have to accept that we are now a second tier club. We do not have rich owners like Chelsea or Man City. We are not producing a factory of young talent (re Man U in the early 90's) which helped to kick off the success, and we do not have a great scouting system of bringing in very young players through the system (Arsenal). As a result we will not attract either the best players or managers and this is what we are left with; mid table cr*p. Although we must still support the side, I am not enjoying the current style as it is neither pleasing to watch nor winning games. Watching players like Allen play is an absolute joke.

G

I think the finances will come with champions league football, liverpool is the tenth ost valuable club in the world or something like that.
I like FSG, they are building the foundations, yes of course they have mad some mistakes but so has mast of the owners of football clubs.
We cannot throw buckets of money away so must spend it wisely. Dortmund and Montpalleir have proven it can be done.
Our problem is that every season we are looking for a new manager.
We are playing well, i think 2 or 3 good signings will make a huge difference. Top 4 is a possiblity although it will be very hard work.

Rd,

Who said FSG were the best things since sliced bread? Of course they are in it to make money - is that not how a business works? You can't say that they haven't invested heavily in the club - more than most in the premier league. Their biggest mistake was Kenny and Comolli - that has now been resolved. Rodgers has had one limited transfer window to try and shape a team - would you not rather give him a couple more windows and then judge him?

Of course not, because you are the deluded one that thinks that just because you take your giro in every second monday that money is made on trees! (It isn't)

Fowler99

G.2nd tier club we are far from a 2nd tier club,we are 1 of the biggest clubs in the world. also 1 of the biggest supported clubs in the world,we just got 2nd tier owners and manager,i actually find it a bit of a insult for you to say that about are great club.ray

To be honest i think i would have what fsg have done already, except i would never have employed comolli, and sacked ayre. or just kept ayre for the commercial side and brought in a director of fottball like fsg were trying to do. dont think any of the paying over the odds for players and crap with suaerz would have happened then. i would have brought in a D.O.F before rodgers was brought in though. over all im fairly impressed the way fsg are running the club to saay they had little or no knowledge when they bought the club, so i dont think i would have changed too much.
huddz red

It's straight forward enough Fowler. FSG bought the club at a snippet in a distressed market. Henry then gathered his American chums together and invited investment promising a specific yield. Subsequent to this FSG then drive down overheads and attempt to enhance income in order to achieve that yield for his friends (eg the basketball player). Henry & co now hope that LFC ticks over for a few years and acts as a nice cosy little hedge fund untill the global economy picks up and they can sell at a profit and move on.

In the meantime, they have a dilemma with the stadium expansion. Do the figures stack up in terms of capital gain and what would be the payback period on the outlay. This is where they have a situation. There ultimate aim is to secure a hedge fund for now but to also sell at a profit. Ultimately they are creating a package to sell on.

As Wengers made the Arsenal owners a lot of money, Borrell will do the same for FSG. Dont ever expect big name signings at LFC again. Look no further than Villa and Arsenal to see the future.

Ozone {Ed002's Note - This is absolute nonsense.}

BOOOOOOOOM!!! there you go ozone, the ed knows his s**t an you got told. any way the question was how would you run the club had you bought it, or something along those lines. so ozone HOW would you run it. Apart from in to the ground. lol. only joking.
huddz red

Personally I would get what we 'need' in this transfer window and get players we 'want' in the summer.

This season is not great but it is not as bad as some are making out.

Realistically I think we are rebuilding the club, the owners have been bitten and will no doubt be shy a bit about it happening again. Rodgers (for me) is installing a very good way of playing which is not 100 percent yet, but once we get the forwards we need, I think some people may again have a reason to expect a win nearly every game and that much sort after 4th spot.

We have all as fans been through many ups and downs but we should try not to look back so much (Rafa, Kenny, Hogson et al) but move forward (Stop slating our own players it really ain't helpful, most should have learnt from Lucas)otherwise we hamstring ourselves which is silly.

I take it you have a crystal ball then Ed002?

LFC are nothing more than a global amplifier for FSG and it's corporate partners, warrior, new balance, dunkin donuts. Etc. the basketball player James is worshiped in Asia and has been given a stake in LFC in order that FSG can use him as a marketing tool. Apparently, there are curious socialism type restrictions on American companies involved in sport. Werner celebrates the fact that FSG have carte blanch to do as they wish in terms of using LFC as a global vehicle to amplify their corporate partners. This bunch will never have the clubs success as their primary concern, they are utilising our history for financial gain. Simple.

Furthermore, are you real ed? Or are you actually a bunch of dark suited men with little curly earpieces sat in a dark room round some hi-tec equipment, monitoring dissident LFC fans?

If so, could you please tell your friends in the black sedan with the tinted windows to stop following me to work?
I'm on to them....

BigBadBen {Ed002's Note - Go check them out. Find the link between Illuminati and a Liverpool player. Find out if the John Birch Society did assassinate Jerry Garcia.}

The link between the illuminati and a Liverpool player is actually a link to a Liverpool manager: joe Fagins uncle Myron was an outspoken critic of the illuminati....
The John birch society were far too wrapped up in their own special world to have had anything to do with jerry Garcias untimely Demise. The blame for that lies squarely at the door of jan molby. It was his continuos pursuit of the perfect chocolate desert for him and jerry that led to jerry developing type 2 diabetes, and ultimately cobtributed to his death. (although Teddy Sheringham shovelling fags down his throat at every chance must have had an effect - something Man U fans would deny. Typical...)

Well there can be many things done to correct things :

1. Rodgers should be told that if he does not get it right next summer, he wont be in charge of transfers anymore.

Effectively he will become a head coach and a director of football, a football man, should oversee the transfers to determine the general direction of the club as well as the club's academy.

I know its not suitable for football in UK but with the amount of money these days in football that would be a sensible way to protect your investments.

2. We do not have enough knowledge on the financial side, so we should leave it to FSG.

They are sound people and all we should hope from them is a debt free club and a first team competitive enough to compete on all three fronts i.e. Domestic League, Domestic Cups and Europe.

3. We need to handle the PR better. While Kenny was extreme and would rebuff the media, we do not need to go the Rodgers way.

Telling the media who is in the team and who isnt IS JUST NOT MY CUP OF TEA.

Also, gunning down the ability of the players in the team should be a strict NO.

He has had a go at Cole, Carroll, Henderson, Downing through media already this season. THIS HAS TO STOP.

Just been watching LFC tv ... Showing a game against notts forest .... M.Owen scored 4 goals at the age of 18....
No matter what people think of him, he was an absolutely brilliant striker for us.

M

Fowler scored 5 at the same age and added more to the team. I honestly never truly liked Owen as there was something about him that I didn't trust. When he left I was partly relieved to receive a fee as I thought that he was going on a Bosman.
Scouse_Pride

Fowler for me all day ,never had pace but full of class the best finisher I've ever seen .

Why does it have to be one or the other? Both did well for us. I prefer Fowler but Owen scored a lot and very important goals for us. While his departure and history afterwards wasnt what fans wanted, I remember him fondly.

Just thought that you'd all like to know - May 9th 2011 was the last time that Liverpool completed three successive victories in the League! Maxi scored SEVEN goals in those three games. We have played 57 games since then and the best that has happened is two successive victories FOUR times - let's hope that that will all change in the next few weeks. Merry Christmas to all the editors and all the posters with a name!

Thats actually a disgrace that weve only managed 2 wins back to back four times in that period, please people stop talking about 4th place

Maybe? Just maybe? The heavy loss at home to Villa is just what we needed. "A reality check" (stop making with the bad luck stories every week)
Losing by the odd goal is sometimes not enough? As there's always excuses to be made and it seems our Manager, players and fans alike are only to willing to make them.
Saturdays defeat is not even open to any debate whatsoever about luck or poor refereeing decisions.
We got what we deserved, I think amongst all the bickering and slagging off of the Manager, players and each other. I think we all agree on that one.
On a positive note, Norwich lost heavily at home to us and havn't looked back since. Now we'll see what we're really made of? And in particular Brendan Rodgers as he will have to ship the right players out and get lucky with the players he brings in in January if he wants to keep his job.

Agreed. That loss was a well-deserved kick up everyone's a**e and bring them back to reality. Hopefully Rodgers will learn to 'walk first before you run'

Living in london I see a lot and hear a lot! The players seem distant? Looking a pics down here spurs players have started going out for meals after games as a group! Nothing fancy just local pubs/resteraunts as a team bonding the atmosphere is said to be very close and happy and very approachable!

I wish that statements weren't made by the management and players that are hostages to fortune.
We ought to let our feet do the talking!
However, I understand that there is a problem in that there is a huge amount of media that requires a lot of feeding (including the clubs own website).
I think part of Kenny's downfall was his poor relations with the media - but his reluctance to give constant soundbites was, I think, very wise.
Please let's stop making predictions about 4th and higher and lets put the energy into doing it.
There is a saying which I have always thought wise (until I just ignored it) "Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, rather than say something and prove you are".
MartinR

Hopefully it will make us realise we can't just stroll about in the oppo box and not put it in and expect teams to roll over for us. Villa showed the strength of the PL right now and Rodgers admitted he wasn't expecting them to play that well. We missed gaping opportunities and were not only punished, but embarrassed. Now the players should realise if they don't stick it in the net that's what will happen. Hopefully a wake up call.

On another note, it's not an excuse for defeat but we had yet another clear penalty not awarded. That makes it, on my count, 5 clear cut penalties we've been denied so far, not to mention many that could have been given. That's a very high number of stonewall penalties that we've been denied. We haven't had one all season and Arsenal, for example, beat West Brom thanks to 2 dodgy ones in one game. What on earth have we done to turn the refs against us?

To be fair Ed's, he's hardly set the prem alight? Plus didnt he break his nose against Udinese?

Lee73

Sahin hasn't really been given the hance to 'set the prem alight' he deserves more of a chance than gerrard and Allen if I'm hounest. Sahin for gerrard, Henderson for Allen, suso for sterling, Assaidi for shelvey. That's what needs to happen.

Well those changes are worth a punt at least to challenge the other players. I think Gerrard needs a poke to remind him you aren't garunteed a starting place.

After watching Joe Allen now for half a season, I cannot understand why we paid £15m for him. Just like Downing, Carroll and Henderson we have again paid way over the odds for him.

Some people will agree with you and some will disagree. The point is the money has been spent on Allen and now it's gone. He's gotta prove his worth now even if he has already had half a season.

We were linked with two Dormond players, Grosskreutz and Blaszszykowski and both said they were flattered by the interest. Musa Sow and Jackson Martinez were flattered and wanted to come. The Genoa lad, Gravinst says he's flattered and hasn't ruled anything out. Mario Gomez was flattered and wanted to come before his club pulled the plugs. There are many others. All these while, we didn't have champions League. So why do you constantly say we can't attract xYZ. Have you simply lowered your ambition in life and you want others to follow suit? If these players said with their own mouth that they are flattered, who are you to tell me we can't attract them?

The problem is we settled for average players for very strange reasons and that's what we are suffering its consequence. Did you not hear Rogers say he would have paid more for Allen? Did you not hear him say Borini or Assaidi would excite us? Now he wants to make same mistake with Ince and Sturidge.

Have you not heared Comoli defend Carrol and Downing's signings both of whom failed to deliver. Stop living in denial and face facts. Only quality players and managers will save us and not mediocrity.

Abroad Red

I think BR meant Sahin as the one to excite us. Which he still might if he plays every game and gets used to the premiership. It's crazy to loan a guy as talented as him and then not play him. Was a fabulous player in Germany.

Mantis.

The difference is all the players we bougth had a decent previous season with their old clubs...
suarez, caroll, downing, adam, sahin, allen, henderson..
and flopped misserably with us..

I have to say for the money we paid Swansea i do expect a lot more from Allen.I think he is 7 million pounds overpriced.

He's been out of position and playing in a team where gerrard is not performing anywhere near his standards. I'm not knocking Stevie he may just need rest but we can't all blame Allen, yes allen has had a dip but I think Allen is shouldering the blame of many players from the weekend.

I still say a few goal scorers on the pitch and we'd have walked that match against Villa which is why Morgan, yes, Pacheco would or should get a chance against fulham ( if they are back)

RedLee

I think you are being generous there. I do not even think he is worth £5m.

Any chance of giving players a chance these days If its not Lucas its Henderson if its not Henderson then Allen if not Allen then Gerrard, I cant stand this every time we win we're gonna get 4th and every time we lose rip it up and start again, look its gonna be a season of ups and downs time to get used of it, lets try and get behind the team when there down.

4 mill plus 2 mill add ons...
and can u belive that guy had a 3 mill sign on fee...as if we were buying xavi at his prime..
and believe me some here had all the stats of allen comoaring xavi..
second to xavi, second to iniesta...

Yes, we paid over the odds for Allen. And probably Borini. But that is because the manager wanted them and neither was really 'available'.

To be honest, this is, in my opinion, where we have failed over the last half dozen or so transfer windows. Instead of looking for quality players who are more or less up for grabs (those nearer the end of their contract, those that are unhappy and ready for a change, etc.) and taking the best of that lot, we instead identify a specific target who is not really available (Carroll and Allen are good examples) and instead pay over the odds for them instead. To me, this is a poor way to do your transfer business.

That said, I like Allen and Borini and think they will both do well for us over time.

we should use 3-4-2-1 formation, cause we are getting hit hard thru the middle. add Kelly to skertyl and agger as a back 3. enrique lucas allen and johnson mid 4. sterling and gerrard next , suarez on a free role up top, or any other ideas on that formation, with or squad members.
jayZ

Before Kelly comes back I would like to see Stephen Sama given a chance

Sounds like a decent system, only one thing, I personally would not have Allen in the team, just not good enough.

That is pretty decent, our midfield does look wafer thin at times. I actually liked the 5 at the back with 2 wing backs I also liked the way we lined up against west ham, perhaps at times the players are passing the baton to suarez too often.

Those of us who think that progress has not been made should be allowed to put our feelings forward and not be shouted down by those who have bought into FSGs and BRS 'philosophy?'

Someone has to shout the emperor has no clothes on or we will settle for public relations talk and spin about things being outstanding, fantastic, superfragilistic ect ect.

The table, results, rhetoric from BR tell the true story. How do Messers Laudrup and Clarke go to so called lesser teams and manage to get above LFC at the half way stage? Food for thought..........

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! {Ed002's Note - The point is that you can express opinions and lack of support of the owners, the manager, the players within reason. What we have to now curtail, as many posters spiral out of control due to even the slightest hiccup in the masterplan to win every game, is excessive abuse of the aforementioned and excessive abuse of other posters.}

Errrmmmm...less unrealistic expectations...less pressure...less history weighing them down...less unrealistic fans by the look of this forum...just saying like.

Pressure, expectation, history of the club - something that the appointed manager to a club must take on and revel in. Do you think Man U will ask their fans not to have so much expectation or forget the history of the club when Ferguson retires so that the the poor new manager who gets paid millions doesn't feel the pressure?

The fact that they have all of their players at their prime and more than one senior striker. Rodgers has blooded lots of youngsters. If Clarke and Laudrup can mantain the form their club is in then brilliant for them. We all went on about newcastle last season and now look at them. They aren't doing great and will then lose Ba and Cisse to the ACON.

I have mentioned this during the summer transfer window - Darren Bent, is the man to solve our goal scoring problems.

I agree with most he is not skillful as other strikers we have had in the past, but the facts are there for everyone to see - he scores goals FACT.

Tap ins, long distance strike, a fox in the box to snap up anything that is missed by Suarez. PLus will be able to get him at a reasonable price

What do you guys think?

I've been saying it for ages.
He does what I want my striker to do, score. What's more he's certainly a better option than any of our other realistic targets. However I guarantee you'll get abuse for suggesting him

Chris in Tamworth

He is an option for someone who gets goals. Considering Ba would cost not much more and would bring more to the team he'd be my choice though

Did anyone read the article in yesterday's mirror by Ruud Guilett? He says ronaldo is much better than messi and deserves the World footballer of the year! Has he not seen messi break the goal record, with games to spare? The reason I say this is because it's a similar situation to Liverpool fans. Most can't see what's in front of them. Give BR till the end of the season, then we can act. He deserves a chance, it surely can't get any worse?

I believe for the players we have, and the small squad, that we shouldnt be playing a 433, but just a 442.
Wisdom and johnson on the right, enrique and assaidi on the left. Suarez and raheem up top. But then, i become stumped, i do not believe we have any cm on the top of their game right now. So my question is, which 2 would you play in there? guess id go lucas and sahin or shelvey?
Benny baller

Kind of agree, we must use what we have, I'd rather a 4-2-3-1 tho as we seem to be leaking goals. Suarez just needs to stay in the box, he's trying to get involved with to much of the play.

Gerrard, lucas

Hmm, i dont see a 4231 atm, i think until the weekend, we have actually really been defending well. An if you do play suarez on his own, he would come back and get involved more, so at least if theres 2 up top, the other could be that person who stays in the box.
Sterlings only goal came from him playing cf with suarez, and the counter threat of them 2 could be amazing, they link well. other poster, i believe gerrard needs a rest. He needs to be treated like scholes when he came to end of his career, red nose got it right with him to be fair, and gets the best outa scholes when hes playing. Maybe time for gerrard to hang up the international boots too? Its tricky. If hes not going to play sahin, send him back, so we can get 2 on loan that will play.
Benny baller

Don't get too hung up on formations, 4 3 3 and 4 2 3 1 are pretty similar in most teams. straight 4 4 2 isn't the way Rodgers wants to play because to hold possession against most teams employing a 4 3 3 or 4 2 3 1 it requires on of the forwards dropping deep to facilitate the passing, in essence forming a 4 4 1 1 (which again is practically a 4 2 3 1). Have faith with a midfield triangle, it works well when the personnel understand all the facets of playing it.

Because this site has become a little feisty recently, I thought I'd start a simple topic unlikely to lead to any handbags.

Which player, potentially attainable (no deal is ever straight forward) would you love LFC to buy in January.

Mine would be David Villa. I'm a realist so know some may question that choice and call me words, which would be edited down kindly by Ed02. However Barca would sell, for a possible reasonably figure. I can't see other big clubs in Spain being financially able to buy, big clubs in England would be, but we've still got some good latin links and pull still. If we shifted Cole we could put a suitable wage packet together, plus the owners need to show some intent, sign of protecting their investment (not saying they haven't before).

It's unlikely I know, but a player of that quality would lift our club greatly, score goals and work well in our current side out wide of the 3 or through the middle. Yes he's 30,but we need a player for now, so in 2 or 3 years we can then call upon I've, Sinclair and Yesil to step forward.

Papa G

I can't see Villa being potentially attainable to be honest.

For me it would be Hamburg keeper Rene Adler or St. Etienne forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Mine would be Eriksen top quality player I think just what we need playing behind the front 3. Add a bit of quality and flair into the final 3rd.

Houllier - won 5 trophies - 1 bad season still got 4th and was sacked.

Benitez - CL & FA cup - 2nd league - dropped to 7th and was sacked.

Hodgson - done nothin- dropped to 12th - fans turned after 2 months and was sacked 6 months

Dalglish - picked the club up off its knees, was up into joint 4th, then EvraSuarez all kicked off and 4 bad months fell to 8th BUT still bagged 1 trophy and another unlucky final - and still got sacked

Rodgers - had an abysmal 5 months - 4 wins in 17 games is worse than Hodgson yet some nuggets on here question if you are a LFC fan if you dont find this acceptable? Why is Rodgers any different to previous managers?

Abysmal transfer business, awful manmanagement, awful tactics, awful team selections. No excuses. A team made up entirely of international footballers should not have less points than Norwich.

What a ridiculous post. a certain mr ferguson took 5 years to win a trophy with utd and look where they are now. so sacking managers harshly is the liverpool way now is it ? perhaps fsg are trying a different and better way whether br turns out to be the right man or not. i am old enough to have witnessed the great years of our club and i am frankly embarrassed by the attitude of many of our fans now. i thought we were a better class of supporter or atleast we used to be.

Fair assessment of recent managerial history but Hodgson was not given 2 months by a vast majority of fans. Rodgere main fault is the fact that he just like Kenny has not addressed the fact that we need a clinical finisher. I am going to see wo BR signs in January before saying the job is to big for him as we need a fox in the box and to find consistancy. We need a replacement for Lucas incase he gets injured again because without him we suffer immensely. I honestly believe that BR will come good as our manager given time to input his stamp throughout the squad. Regarding our squad being stocked with internationals , yes we should not be below alot more teams than just Norwich.

What a snooze fest.

What would you suggest then Ozone and Shabby? Whats the next move for Liverpool, other than picking a set of rich owners? Would love to hear your masterplan...zzzz

Well the problem is none of the aforementioned managers deserved to be sacked either. I'm sick of spendin the first part of every summer wondering who liverpool will appoint and then another year of rebuilding. There is a good reason why we have been rebuilding ever since rafa left.

6 mistakes made before kick off.

1) Playing Downing at left back. If Enrique is injured play Robinson or put Johnson there with Wisdom at right back.
2) Playing Lucas,Allen,Shelvey and Gerrard in the same team. One of these would of been playing out of position. Put one on the bench and play Suso or Assaidi.
3)Having 2 CB on the bench. Need to pick, Carragher or Coates.
4)Because of Number 3 we only had 1 CM on the bench in Henderson. Need 2.
5)Joe Cole should not be on the bench. Waste of space.
6) No forward on the bench, and before you all moan I know we need to buy one in January and the young players were away playing in a tournament but one should of stayed and been on the bench.

Keep believing
EST.1892

Disagree with point 5, Cole should be nowhere near the squad never mind subs

Disagre,...we have only one striker and he was on pitch...

1st person who said disagree. Is this not what I said ??

2nd person who said disagree. Read what I said again, 1 of the Morgan,Yesil or Pacheco should of been on the bench. Not ideal but at least someone who plays in that position.

Est.1892

I agree with most of them and i'm undecided with 2. I don't think suso should start matches because he always fades in the second half, but definitely come on off the bench.

For a start Ince plays championship football, sterling plays in the prem, so don't compare till Ince is in the prem! And secondly would Ince wanna come back to the club he was told he wasn't good enough to play at? Do ppl actually think before they write on here?

17 Dec 2012 12:50:03
Ince wasn't told that. We offered him a contract, and his Dad pushed him to demand more than he was worth. We refused to bend over, and he ran his contract down, left for free, and we received £57k in compensation.

He was NEVER told he wasn't good enough.

So to answer your question, no i don't think everyone does think before they post...

YNWA! (Adam)

17 Dec 2012 12:51:37
It was Paul Ince that was the problem for Tom, he was insisting on first team football, 18 months ago Kenny didn't think he was ready for it and told him to go and find first team football elsewhere. Brendan rates the player and has a different view to Kenny on development and potential, he can offer Ince regular starts now.

You should get your story straight and think before you speak, we never told Ince he was not good enough we wanted to sign him onto another deal but he wanted to play first team football and be given a starting spot and at the time we couldnt agree that so he didnt sign a new contract and left! Dumbass

Bollox, if he wanted to stay he would have

Well ince has proven the club wrong. Can't you just give him some credit for coming on loads. Rodgers is a different man from kenny and has different ideas.

At £15m I am sorry but I cannot see what Joe Allen brings to the team.

Quite agree. He is too lightweight, he doesnt pass forward, he cant beat a man and he doesnt score. We should be getting alot more for £15m - but he is Rodgers blue eyed boy and will not be dropped.

And as a supposed Liverpool supporter, I can't see what you bring to the forum

He brings truth, wish u Liverpool till I die would wake up, ur hearts rule ur head. Yes we should support whoever plays and manages our club. But when people aren't good enough and it's clear for all to see, concerns should be raised

The way i see it is simple. Fsg and br have a choice to make. Buy young and in doing so sticking to the policy. But also saying mid table is good enough. Or what i think they need to do. Buy experience proven quality . Will cost more but Will also reward more. Pay big wages otherwise u Will nor attract big players. For every premier league position we drop down it costs over a million in prize money. face it we need at least 5 top players tp come in over the next 2 windows. We can spend new and be rewarded or we can be a mid table team.
Fsg the ball is in your court.

in theory we should be an attractive club for any up and coming stars ie zaha...ince...redmond as we are still one of the biggest clubs in world football...have the best fans...and can offer far more 1st team oportunities than any other club at the same level...there is a lot of talent coming through at the mo and i fear that a lot of it will go to waste if something isnt done about these greedy bad advising agents that are slowly but surely sucking the life out of the game...if these rumours about sterling are true then this sums it up as he will stagnate on united's bench...he is getting the oportunity to prove his talents where he is, which can only be a good thing even financially in the long run. plz post sumwhere

Im reading through the transfer rumours and banter, seeing who everyone is suggesting maybe joining LFC. Are we living in a dream world people?! David Villa! seriously guys, why oon earth would this calibre of player want to come to us atm. We have to be realistic. Even Tom Ince i cant see wanting to rejoin us. Man Utd and Tottenham are sniffing round him, lets be honest both of the above seem more appealing to a young player making a name for himself.

We have to face facts, we are has beens who are rebuilding....that means signing players who are virtual unknown or players whose careers have faltered elsewhere.

The villa's, huntelaar's, Bony's, Sanchez's of the world just wont want to play for LFC anymore. Suarez will be leaving in next season or 2 unless something drastic happens. #losinghope

Thanks for the worried rabbit PR you've served up on behalf of LFC. Where's your pride?

dd

There is the prestige of joining a great club.
Also, the way we are going at the moment, they will get actual regular game time rather than be stuck on the bench making the odd appearance in a non-important cup game

Where do i start?! Tom Ince....hmmm makes me think Rodgers planning for life without Sterling.

Huntelaar....more likely to go to arsenal or tottenham isnt he?!

Lambert....Really?! is there any truth in thi?, does he fit rodgers style? i wouldnt have thought so.

David Villa....i could laugh all day about this one. Why join a faltering side over top european sides. This also makes little to no sense to me.

Sturridge....i can see this happening, he wants to play more central and obviously improve his England chances. We all know Hodgeson loves picking LFC players.

Yilmaz....? know little of this player, can anyone enlighten me pls.

Any other ones ive missed? please tell me...im all ears.

You shouldnt'v'e got up today mate. Seriously, what good was that for anyone?

Honestly, Im not all that fussed over Sterling to tell the truth. I would actually be quite pleased if we bought Ince in January. 23 games, 13 goals & 10 assists as opposed to Sterling 1 goal & 5 assists in 29 games. Ince clearly has the advantage over Sterling at this stage and would be a decent buy IMO.

BrisbaneLFC

Brisbane, Sterling is younger a full international and playing at a higher standard than Ince. Tom is a good player though but unfair to compare them as Raheem is playing in and under scoring a Liverpool team.

Dalglish did the same mistake and now its done by rodger, dalglish got rid of aquaman 4 ch adam, and i just tell u and can tell u, just watching adam kicking a ball forget playin, he is no wer near at aquaman class, and rodger is doin the samefing from this 1, and he got us allen, wat a flop, he was givin 30 million weter sell or not aqua and carrol, and spend it on flop, we just need it a world class finisher, and the option were, jovetic, david villa, jackson martinez, rossi (viyarreal), defoe, lewandownski, hulk, and etc, look bayern munich spenf around 30 millions, and they spent it 27 in one player wot they were lack of a left back, they came 4 baines he refuse to go to germany boring league, then they went 4 javi martinez and becouse of that spot on they r thrashin in their league, in champions league, 1 example, bayern draw yesterday after a run of wins and they draw playin home, wy becouse javi martines was injured, so if we get 30 in budget buy one the 1 we need.

We cant attract half the players you just mentioned.

We spend 22 millions in suarez so wy not in one of thouse strikers, surprise is suarez come out to be world class, he is giving his hart 4 lfc and especialy lfc fans, so wy not any other players hud like to test their feeling 4 playin in a club like lfc, to get this stop spending money in 2 or 3 avrage players wen u r given 30 millions, spendid in colleti player, and the rest live it for jan, and ad bit of it to make the team better in case of any injury

Aquilani was possibly the most expensive mistake in LFC history. And that includes big Andy.

Nick

Akilani itsthemost expensive, becouse we tryed replacing him from wery expencive wage and player, first of all kenny wif charly adam, and now wif allen, im sure wif aqpuaman we wudve been more deep in oure atak.

hey guys

im still angry about the whooping we got at HOME.
but then again when i look at the facts...its not suprising...

1.. liverpool never seem to take the teams who dont finish in the top 8 seriously..EVER if it was man utd..we would be tracking back..giving 100% all game..

2.. our home record with rogers is really poor ..really poor..he needs to do sth....that crap he was talking about pre season sounds like a good way to con everyone...maybe he should practice what he preaches

3.. look at the quality we have lost...people like dirk kuyt..its funny that since those type of players have gone..u start to see what they have done..like pop up in the box for goals..tactically sound...etc....

4our midfield and forward line is weak..simple as that....ALLEN will always play..no matter what any fans say...he is rogers favourite...in his eyes..he is the most important player...unfortunately..we need some tough tacklers in midfield..we need power in there and to stop attacks on the back 4..cos lucas cant do everything........
i cant see rogers buying anyone like makelele..or diame...or that defensive minded player..thats not his usual PASS a million times type he likes.

so i will back rogers.........but jan will tell me everything about FSG and rogers.....if he buys 5ft0 tippy tappy players...who are like 20 yrs old..i know that he is trying to be barcelona..in the premiership..and we are in for more dissapointment

so we shall see

red lobster

I agree with a fair bit of what you said but kuyt was not a good player. technically anyway. he did run his socks off and he did score some important goals in his time at LFC. it was time for him to move on.

We need a Diame or Yaya Toure powerhouse to run the midfield. Allen is far too lightweigh hes just not worth the money we paid. We all know managers go back to there old clubs to sign players..Just because Allen did ok for Swansea does not mean he will do well for Liverpool.

Ok boys and girls. Christmas is just over a week away. Hard to beleive i know but while you're out there buying for you kids, wife or family, spare a thought for the thousands of kids who will wake up on Christmas morning with nothing to open. We all know times are difficult and people are struggling but some more than others. I could be your next door neighbour or the kid your child sits next to at school. It might be one of us next year. There are plenty of charities willing to take in extra presents like Churches, local radio stations, Salvation Army, the list is endless. So while you are maxing out your credit card stick and extra £10 or £20 on it for someone not so fortunate if you can afford it. While you're handing your present in you will feel 2 inches taller (and we all know we could do with a few extra inches). Trust me, it will make you feel really good about yourself. Thanks for reading.

DISBELIEF!SHOCK!EMPTINESS! These are just some of the words that come to mind when I think of the way we played against Aston Villa. Gerrard was never in the game and should only be used from the bench sparingly. Allen has shown that he is too light weight to boss the midfield. Sterling needs a rest. Suarez is crying out for a decent strike partner. I can't believe that Kenny paid 20 mil for Downing. Henderson can be transformed into a box to box player. He has the stamina and the physical prescence to do that. Johnson is not consistent in his performances. Lucas needs to be replaced as he cannot be expected to regain the form he had previously. A Diame kind of player is what we need urgently to shore up the defense. Shelvy is a good player but his pace let's him down. We have a really long way to go before we start talking of top 4 again!

And good morning to you too mr.happy

Ur wrong about Lucas. He has just come back from a serious injury. Did u expect him to run the midfield all by himself?
Indian Buzzer

Agree with some facts...
but lucas need to be replaced??
its better u get replaced to a city fan??

I agree with some of the OP's observations, but 'Lucas needs to be replaced as he cannot be expected to regain the form he had previously'.

That is ridiculous. As is the Allen is too 'lightweight' to 'boss' the midfield comment.

Abstract absurdity imo.

BR is building a team here, yet some aspects of our play need improved more than others.

Our failures have not been in controlling possession in midfield. Which is what Allen provides.

Look at the Villla game even. It was wasteful finishing, and shoddy defending at key moments (known as 'lapses' in my day) that cost us (as usual, I know).

Allen has done a damn good job, first as cover for Lucas - in an unfamiliar position he has been a marked improvement on Spearing as backup DM (it's Spearing's natural position).

He will do even better in his proper role.

I honestly have no time for this Allen bashing. He is a bloody good player, and will be very good given time.

Also - If any of you think Shelvey is rubbish. You have no clue about the game. NO CLUE AT ALL.

He reminds me of a young Michael Ballack. He can be a monster of a player if he applies himself, capable of dominating games.

I can recall games when he was 18-19 where he seemed the oldest player on the pitch. Never losing the ball, committed in the tackle, technically superb and physically strong - he can shoot and head too.

Though wide or central in a front 3 is obviously not his best position.

He should be playing ahead of Gerrard, and I bet he knows he should be too.

My only major complaint is that at times in the past he has been 'over-committed' in the tackle. But he has curbed that somewhat recently. If he improves in all areas he can be one of our best players.

Hi ed, I am an addict to this site but lately just come here as a habit and glance through most of the post. Its either to much negativity or calling names or blaming past manager. Honestly everyone is to be blamed from H&G to FSG from Rafa To Rodgers. But I still believe we are moving toward the right track. We have been very unlucky with many decision as well as lucky that everyone around us is dropping points. In a different season we could have landed in the relegation Zone or if all the decisions gone for us would be in top four and with confidence flying high. Anyway I don't want to moan here like by fellow posters just wish that we do everything right this transfer window.
We have tried with the average british players with the players mangers have managed before, why not get the players who are ready for the first team rather than average squad members. I feel we get bullied by opposition players stroke bullied us so did diame and just yesterday by Benteke. they are big guys who can run with the ball and all I can see is small framed guys like Allen chasing them. we lack a balance in the team. If we defend higher up the pitch we should have pace CD skertel/agger are not, they even get bullied by players like Benteke.
Midfield is horrible if you take Lucas out its like a midget midfield, all you have to do is throw the ball high and they wont get it. I like Hendo in midfield but again he is not the Makelele or Mach. There should be a bit more protection for Lucas as well.
We need a plan B .I like our plan A but there nothing wrong in having a plan B. may be a tall agile striker who can head the ball as we tend to cross the ball a lot.
One more thing I have noticed is as soon as we go behind our confidence is lost and we start to panic
All I want us to buy this transfer window is
Strong DM/CM who can rum with the ball
A right sided winger/striker who can cut in and score
and a striker pace, tall and who will give us another option
My choice will be Walcott ,Aubameyang and some one in the mould of Diame or wayanama.
Keep faith guys we will get better
Red 316

Makelele or Mach? Thought they were midgets? Midgets being your terminology, not mine.

17 Dec 2012 01:51:04
Hi fellow reds! my first post after reading the site for years and just wanted to make a few points with the posts recently.

I like Brendan Rodgers and think he needs a bit of time to mould his team then we can judge him.

Its obvious to everyone watching the games that we are crying out for a fox in the box maybe 2.

With recent rumours, I dont see the point in buying sturridge for a few reasons 1. he is young and not an experienced goalscorer 2. we already have a striker like him in borini! so my opinion its a waste of 15 mill or whatever hes worth

I think we can turn it around after january with the right signings and our players back from injury. Its a crucial time for the club in january if we get it wrong its going to finish a mediocre season again. I think we can win the europa league and hopefully a good run in the FA cup would be nice again.

Im still split on jordan henderson because its like the lucas situation in its own way, but we need to lose downing and cole and Carroll in the summer and replace them in their respective positions in jan and summer then next season we should have a squad that rodgers has made and see where we end up, if things dont get better then we could question rodgers but theres nothing we can do now for the next few games until the window. anyway thats my opinion at the minute and hope things get better sooner rather later. love the site eds very addictive! Macca makes it more interesting too even though i dont like some players he mentions to join haha keep it up though! YNWA

17 Dec 2012 10:38:47
Although i like Sturridge,it's worth pointing out that Borini is similar, young, potential etc.
I would rather see us save the money for Walcott or Llorente tbh, yeah i know i may be dreaming but we're crying out for a goalscorer.
WelshBoyDave {Ed002's Note - Well Dave, Sturridge and Walcott are the same age and Sturridge has a better overall goalscoring record.}

17 Dec 2012 12:26:33
Really? I didn't know that Ed. I mean i knew they were the same age but i didn't know Sturridge had better stats.
Walcott just may come a little cheaper than £15 million, and with Borini back in January,i just don't think theres any point in buying for the sake of buying,if we can get a player who can really improve the squad for a decent price go for it,failing that,i think maybe let Borini have a good crack during the second half of the season.
Thanks for the enlightenment Ed002!

Hey Eds
Merry Christmas and All the best for the New Year
What are the chances of us finishing in the top 4? {Ed002's Note - Happy Holidays.}

17 Dec 2012 07:14:01
Nice job eds , just one question - Why isn't Assaidi playing in the premier league? Hes not even on the bench even though he is not injured?? {Ed002's Note - He is a squad member and no doubt Rodgers will use him as he sees fit.}

17 Dec 2012 01:22:37
Why Morgan, Suso , Assaidi and Yesil aren't given a chance! The tippy tappy is great when chances are taken but when opposition susses us out (like Villa did) we have nowhere to go. Cole is past it both in form and fitness. Henderson has the talent but not the confidence which means he's NOT good enough!
Why didn't we go for it when losing 2-0!! Other teams would tear at the opposition. What's the difference 2-0, 3-1, 4-0...they are all losses but I'd rather us throw caution to the wind and attack!! I'm very worried, very...that BR is doing his best to make us an average side. I know it's only one result but we were lucky at West Ham, come on, man! Taking Shelvey out and bringing on Cole?!! I ask you, Shelvey is one of the few who takes people on and actually shoots!! Suso is another one, Assaidi whenever given the chance has been a constant pain in the opposition...I'm worried we might get another load of average players in January and then that's that! BR's system is a mystery to me, tippy tappy and the crossing for our little guys to head the ball, when we had a lethal header of the ball and loaned him out?!! I'm just baffled. When we win it's not BR doing the winning, it's Suarez pulling out the tricks and individually saving our bacon!
I'm sorry fellow red if I sound pessimistic but I'm just worried, mates. Worried that my beloved LFC is going further down and Anfield has become where all inferior teams (with respect) come to break long standing records...
I don't know if you agree or not, but why was Carroll loaned out? To get Dempsey? Really, are you serious? Decisions like that hang over my judgement of BR and his 'system'...let's hope his system has a winning end because it will be our poor club and us fans that have to bear the humiliation and loss that another failing season would bring.
I hope I am wrong, I really do.
Iranred in London YNWA

In all due respect no manager would try and make a team average, i understand your stress but as hard as it is,we just need to hang in there with our current manager and owners, the bottom line is we are just not ruthless enough and that is in all areas of the pitch, lets just see what happens in the summer transfer window if br and the owners buy players of no quality maybe then we can all panic, i know we have all waited since 1990 but i truely believe this will be our last time of waiting under a manager, br has the knowledge but he WILL make some mistake just like we all do in life but we got to stick with him at least till its his team out there each week, i know its frustrating at time but we all need to get behind the team if we are ever gonna be the top boys again

For me I think its time we sell reina?its obvious his mind is no longer here..he wants to challenge for trophies and play in the champs league and he isn't getting any here...and also gerrard should be in our front 3right now..he looks clueless in midfield but he still a major threat after suarez.brendan must find a way to make gerrard useful. there is no point playing him when you don't know a role where he can function.

Rodgers needs to stop lying to us about our paper thin squad and utilize everybody properly till january .its mind boggling when rodgers places 3 defenders on the bench..why not have morgan, ngoo or yesil on the bench we have only one striker I don't see the harm in that
What happened to sahin,suso,assaidi..they are not on top form but neither are those in our starting eleven (except suarez johnson agger enrique)so why not bring them off the bench and start them in some games why persist with sterling and allen when its so glaring they need to rest for some games

Our squad isn't the best right now,but an experienced manager can still do better than what brendan is doing..

Reality is we have bought very badly, now we are stuck with too many c*ap players, who are worth only a fraction of what was paid, and insult to injury the useless players are on contract.
Poor, poor, poor management all round.

Yes, we are having to address these issues of the past and it will take time. Quite a few years I would think to replenish the ranks with the qualities needed for BRs structure. Yet another reason to show patience. We all know this is the case yet we dont appear to be able to remember it after a loss or draw.

I take it you mean by Lenny and not Brendan. I wouldn't trust Dalglish with my children's pocket money. Probably the most inept use of transfer funds in the history of the game.
Brendan will succeed.

I just wanted to say that I feel so up and down about everything that's going on with Liverpool at the moment. One moment I feel filled with optimism the next I want to bang our owners heads together...people on here get into slanging matches because half of us don't ever want to hear a bad word said against our beloved club and the other half want Buck sacked unless he wins the title now, but it's all a bit of a roller coaster for those of us who truly love football. We were doing well after a dodgy start to the campaign, which makes the loss on Saturday all the harder to take. We feel so great when we win we recognise that Brendan must be doing something right to make that happen, yet our frustration at losing, all the time having so many shots on target and most of the possession is so frustrating when we know we can do better. Our league position does not reflect the quality in our squad, however does reflect our consistency, which is really what the league is all about. A team could be the fifth best in the league in terms of quality, and lose to the four better sides, yet win every other game against teams with less quality in their squad and still win the league. Not one of us can say we're happy with things as they are - however our levels of understanding and sympathy differ from one another. There are so many of us how Is BR meant to keep us all happy with his decisions?! One things for sure, we all love our club, so now that the disappointment from Saturday can be put to one side, let's all try and get on, unite behind our lads and look forward to the next game

Super

The greatest peice of sense written here for some time. Thanks Super.

This has been going on for years now and I'm fed up of it. Because fabio borini hasn't scored after a few games doesn't mean he's rubbish. Just because joe Allen or any player for that matter has hit a bad run of form doesn't mean he was a waste of money. Player's form goes up and down constantly yet some fans think that every player should he playing amazingly every game because they only like to see the good side of players. Just because a player is British doesn't mean he is any better or worse than a foreigner. Ashley young for 20 million? Bad signing? Nope. Or oxlade chamberlain? Walcott? Rooney? Rodwell? Lescott? All good signings. It's that Britain has bad players, it's that the manager simply made wrong decisions.

To be fair Rodwell's rubbish

They get paid enough to perform week in week out!

Common..not again...
joe allen ahs been watched in over 25 gmaes this season...
what exactly u see in him..
he is rubbish..and pls accept and move on
