Hi Ed Im a little confused Fabio Coentrao is currently on my tele playing for Real Madrid is this just for pre season fitness before he joins up with us?? My sources have suggested that is what Aguero is doing with City ;-)

Nice poem earlier.
I moved from Liverpool to Canada 5 years ago I certainly back for a visit this passed april/may I went to the first liverpool game I had been to in five years. I love anfield I went on a tour even though I have done it 100 times before. Got to say when the crowd sang YNWA I was sobbing like a baby and I am 21.

Here is a poem for you all as the last one is read inspired me.

This is a place people call home
a place for kings to sit on their throne
somewhere that dreams come true
a place opponents will come to rue

This is a place where glory has no yield
For our hearts and dreams
This is Anfield.

at the start of the transfer window macca said we would get a lbk,cm and lwing and we got them.

why would we get more players?

{Ed002's Note - Personally it doesn't bother me either way. He or she are both fine. It is not like Ed001 who is a he during the weeks and a "she" when he gets dressed up and hits the specialist bars on a Friday and Saturday night. God I am glad we don't share a bedroom any more.}

=========================

tell us more, this is as interesting as our next big signing.

17 Aug 2011 22:42:30
Hi ed just workin it out roughly but if we get rid of the players we are tryin to at there market value we would only have spent 10 m on our summer transfers .Also could we get Adam Johnson on loan like spurs are tryin with adebyor now they have Nasri .The gooners will be hard to beat on sat but a lot of top players missin we must have a great chance really get the season up and runnin.

Always thought degan was ok as back up had good pace was good going forward played with a smile on his face and wanted to play for Liverpool just never got a chance with a proper first 11 Glenn Johnson's not that much better
and are fans are sh*t if they are free we don't support them they have to cost 20 Million and be forigen for us to like them
weather it's Poulsen , Soto , Cole support them
they moved to club because were asked to come
moved familys etc why should they just go would you

for them it s prob a dream to Play for Liverpool its not there fault the were given decent contracts

If they put on a red shirt support them they might just suprise you

to be honest if i was a player for Liverpool I'd get of coz we have fans who moan about everything who cares if Gary Neville is on sky sports , we once had real supporters anfield is like a morg unless we are winning 3-0 at half time and then everyone gets of to get out the car park early

I use to think we had best supporters in the world
stoke are better supporters than us

Support you players and team not write them off

Anyone else think Jonjo would be a more intimidating footballer with some hair on his dome? Maybe KD would realize he already has some british midfielders if JS looked the part Azkop

17 Aug 2011 22:24:59
We are looking at another bad start to the new campaign if we loose to Arsenal at the Emirates. Hope we are finished spending cause if Liverpool splash more cash on players, the expectations will become higher for the coming season.

Kd is comtanplaiting wether to go in for put of favour Barcelona star macherano , it may be a shock return for macherano as the likes of fabregas joining he doesn't seem him getting much game time. The only position he may get is cover at centre back which he doesn't really to be playing at. He would maybe like a return to liverpool as when he one the champions league he dedicated to the Liverpool fans and said he still supported the club. The deal is reportedly around 12 million but kenny dalglish has to first get rid of one of two centre mids rual m. Or possibly aqualani. Rumours have it that Damien comolli is reportedly in Spain which could be an implication he is contacting Barcelona over a possible move. Also Liverpool are linked with one last attempt for both Gary Cahill and Ryan showcross with money plus player deals. If however they both get excepted kenny will have to pick one and one only with the wage budget reaching maximum the Fenway park group would like it to be.

I really love this website and am constantly glued to it every moment i Get, but unfortunately it is being ruined by a minority of Ill educated morans who think they know what they are talking about when it comes to football, and players qualities when they haven't got a clue. You seem unable to see the improvement in the squad from last season or the efforts Andy Carroll has made to get fit for this season, the man has put himself about and run his arse off from what i have seen, i thought he played well on saturday, in fact i was pleased with Liverpools performance as it showed me enough to be hopeful for a Good season Ahead.Get behind the team and its players because negativity is no help to anyone.

I am sad to say that until the minority have gone away i will just stick to the rumours page, until a time the banter page becomes that again and is full of like minded Liverpool Supporters with sometimes differing opinions but with the same Goal, being the best supporters in the world and lifting the team to new great highs.

After watching that cock-up from Zappata i think the best bit of business Kenny has done this Summer was not signing him. So poor he makes Djimi Traore look like Paolo Maldini

Feel sorry for our youth players. I thought Liverpool were the better side throughout the game. Sad we didn't have any luck. Hold your heads up high, boys

17 Aug 2011 21:19:21
I have a funny feeling that Gary Cahill will sign for Arsenal in next day or so and will play against LFC

17 Aug 2011 21:07:08
For all you Liverpool fans that moan about our signing, results etc, think back exactly one year.

I just read a book 'An Epic Swindle' by Brian Reade was a very emotional read. I would highly recommend it to all Liverpool Fans, fills in alot of blanks as to what really happened to Rafa, Torres etc. I personally would like to thank so many people for saving our club, but I don't think this is the place.

Again a highly recommended read.

3-0 to Sporting. Great great goal. This is another European competition that we can foret about.

17 Aug 2011 20:33:16
I'm sorry but this is a complete rubbish Liverpool side. At the moment the future is looking as bright as we thought (and hoped). There is absolutely no-one on the field that you can say is going to be in the 1st team squad anytime in the (near) future {Ed009's Note - is that a joke? Robinson played games for us last season, as did Shelvey so that is clearly incorrect. Sterling, Coady and Suso are all fantastic talents too.}

17 Aug 2011 20:27:48
Well there's 20 Ed009, used a cat o 9 tails just make sure i punished myself good and proper. Where've ya been for the last day and a half Ed009? Jonson6 {Ed009's Note - I was just away for a few days, and I am away this weekend as well I am afraid. I hate missing stuff on the site though!}

17 Aug 2011 20:26:16
It should be 3-0. Liverpool win a corner and within seconds Sporting are in with a great chance right in front of goal. Liverpool are looking like no-hopers

17 Aug 2011 20:24:01
I've heard Yossi included in CFC offer for modric but spurs rejected. He is defo up for grabs. Man city from what I can gather aren't too interested in Cahill anymore and seem more intent on signing any decent attacking player they can lol. Once again Macca comes up trumps, on that note Macca any updates for us desperate reds?

17 Aug 2011 20:11:55
It seems whenever teams do a bit of re buliding and buy a load of new players (like we have this year)
there seems to always be a few players that look like never making it.
looking at liverpools though and i cant really see a bad signing.
suarez: looks like he will become world class, if not already.
carroll: needs work but i feel he will be worth £35m in the end. besides it wasnt my money it was romans.
adam: fantastic passer.
downing: good winger, we have needed a player like this for years.
enrique: decent enough until we bring through the younger players. another player we desperatly needed.
doni: prob wont see him much but hes only back up.
henderson: yet to convince me but cant say i have watched sunderland play much. i have 2 sunderland supporter friends who were gutted to see him leave though.
henderson is the player i am most worried about, although 1 bad signing out of so many will still be a very successfull rebuilding exercise.
i hope we bring in cahill (another good player)
and another striker to replace ngog.
but even if we dont we still have a much better team (on paper at least) than last year.

Hey there folks and eds

How's everyone doing?

Just a quick question, although I do understand a lot of it may have been answered previously, does anyone on here, including eds and macca, have any information as to whether liverpool are in talks with anyone at the moment or any real interest in any players that may lead to a bid being made?

Thanks in advance and its a great and addictive site

Keep it up everyone

Eds if you wouldn't mind passing this question onto Macca for me please?

Macca,

If Liverpool manage to shift the players we have on the wage bill that aren't wanted, Could we possibly see a surprise signing from abroad or do you think we will stick to the philosophy of buying ready and proven in the league?

I ask this as i still feel after Dann/Cahill and Yossi (If we sign them obv) we will still lack just one more attacking/flair player as Suarez's cover (or to complement him) to complete the squad Who is there in English Football that fits that bill who we could realistically obtain? Surely we'd have to look abroad and who do you think would be possible?

On the other hand though do you think after the possible signings of the players you have mentioned we would end our activity in the market and kick on with what we have and see where we are come January/Next summer?

If i had a say i would pick one from Mata/Hazard/Higuian but i know 2 of them are unrealistic at this time ha

Sorry for the essay and thanks

Our youngsters are having a great lesson today against a very impressive Sporting team. Some good individual play but not very cohesive as a unit. Absolutely loving it - watching our future stars in the making.
Question for the Ed: Are Sporting and ManUtd affiliated? Is there any chance we can sign some youngsters from them? Or Man Utd have first refusal on all of them? Thanks alot and keep up superb work.
RHI {Ed002's Note - Liverpool could make an offer if they wish. Do you play a lot of football games?}

Please post wherever Ed's, i wrote this specially for this site.

He stands in the tunnel as we sing our song,
When times are dark walk on, walk on,
He passes under the Anfield Sign,
He knows by now, this is his time,
As he crosses the chalk, He looks to the sky,
We'll win this game, its do or die,
He leads by example he sets the pace,
He's just a credit to the whole scouse race,
A shining light when times are hard,
Theres only one Steven Gerrard.

I'm watching the NextGen match and I must say that the younger players all have a future at Anfield. They get the ball into a dangerous position then either waste it through a poor cross or pass it back towards our own goalkeeper and then lose possession.

anyone else think we should play jay with lucas and charlie in the middle on saturday? His terrier like nature will give arsenal the willys. We really need to defend from the front and get in their faces. Off the ball our efforts need to be raised slightly, granted its early doors but we need to get stuck in like we were against city at home last season. Thirty minute cameo from aqui would do nicely once our hard work has paid off. Streaked venison

I'm sorry but from reading the last two weeks of people slating Carroll, kenny, DC, the owners and other squad members I had to post.

The last two windows have been incredible for a Liverpool fan. When has the club sank this much money into the transfer Market? The owners and putting cash on the table and were buying decent premier league players who know what Liverpool is about, experienced the holy site that is the kop and can hit the ground running.

Get behind your club and have some faith.

Onwards and upwards

Serious rumours doing the rounds here in Paddy Mccourts home town Derry that he could be going to Liverpool with a deal being discussed. What do you all think?

17 Aug 2011 17:04:06
HI eds Lots of fans talk about when kenny signed this guy and that guy but that was many year ago .Today we face competition who have unlimited
funds so when we buy nowdays we have make sure
(like suarez) that any purchases are the finished
article ,we need certain positions filled most people know what they are so lets not talk about the past or potential, its cheaper to buy the best (no more dead wood)and remember the future is NOW.one more point any players who need time to develope are already on our books sterling morgan etc etc,(fan of 66years)

check out these observations they are facts

1. we have not won any competitive match ever since the appointment of kk was made permanent.

2. we have only won one match both in epl and europe in all matches carroll started and that was against man city.

3. we have not won since we destroyed fulham and that was the last match raul meireles started.

4. 90% of passes jordan henderson made were backward passes not even sideway.

5. combination of lucas and charlie needs a lot of work; the latter can not tackle well and should learn to make simple passes.

6. the owners have laid down the marker; anything short of top 4 is a failure considering the amount spent.who can blame them?

i guess kk was given the power to buy his own players based on trust they have in him.we all know how this thing works, failure to achieve the minimum objective, all the priviledge will be withdrawn and comolli power will come to play in player recruitment.

i have noticed something about us fans, we have developed a bad trait which is making excuses. we have developed a winner's mentality and winners do make excuses.
[ excuses = losers' anthem ]

we have made excuses about everything under the sun. pls let's stop it cos WE ARE LIVERPOOL.

To all reds fans around the world. Lets really get behind the team this season and remind everyone why we have the best support in the world. I read this site everyday and sometimes struggle to come to terms with the abuse that the likes of carroll gets. That is not who we are, we are better than that so lets show the world what we are all about. Not a rumour as such but good news anyway. Alex Song has been handed a 3 match ban for his stamp on Joey Barton. Now Arsenal are without: Fabregas, Nasri, Wilshire, Gervinho and Song.
Definitely fancy our chances on Saturday.
Also I Hope the kids like Suso, Sterling, Coady and others get game time this season. I am sick of reading about how people think we should buy this player and that player when we have just as good if not better players in our reserves. Sterling is going to Fricken AWESOME

17 Aug 2011 16:00:45
Liverpool are going to destroy the Arsenal on Saturday, they are so much weaker than last year and we are so much stronger in every position. We had 10 men for a long period of the game with Ngog upfront on his own and Jova in the starting 11 plus Agger was playing out of position, and they only just managed a draw because of a silly own goal. Now they have lost Clichy, Nasri (almost), Fabregas and Gervinho is suspended. They have just played a mid week match and have the pressure of the away leg ahead and Manu the following week. I cant see anything less than a 3-0 win to us and thats being generous. Carrol to bag 2 goals and shut all them doubters up.

WB

17 Aug 2011 16:00:28
Lay off carroll lads.. wait and see how he does this season, if he bags over 15 goals i would say thats a good solid return, suarez and kuyt will guarentee goals aswell so carroll shouldnt have this pressure. there is a lot more to his game than meets the eye, even on a bad day he is a nightmare to mark and always has a presence about him. he will come good for sure, just give it time, hes only 22 aswell and still has a lot to learn.

same with henderson, showed last season he has quality in abundance, just needs to form an understanding with his new teammates, he and carroll will get better with experience.

Times change but Juventus had plenty of foreign talent in comparison to us or most British clubs. As long ago as the early to mid 80's Juventus they had 2 world class foreign stars playing for them. To be pedantic because he's from Eire, they had Liam Brady, then replaced him with Platini and also Ziggy Boniek the Polish player who was also more then a class act. Real Madrid had Hugo Sanchez and the one the got away Michael Laudrup after his successful stint at Juve as well. Barcelona had Maradona. English teams were out of Europe for 5 years so why would world class players have come to our league were you could just steam through the back of a player in the first minute and just get a ticking off. And Toto for Italy was a pure wild card that the Italian public wasn't happy about when he was included in just the squad never mind the team after for Carnavali and scored the winner then stayed in the team after that at Italia 90. Never reached the great heights after that that fans of the game thought he would. I couldn't care less if we had a team full of Brits of foreigners. As long as any player who is fortunate to don the RED OF THE MIGHTY LIVERPOOL and is willing to put every ounce of sweat blood and tears for our great, special and unique club i'll always accept the player. Just like i'll always back K.K's judgement in everything he does from signing's to team selection to making subs, i'll back him 100%. He's forgot more about football then all and i mean all of us could even dream about. To the real Liverpool fans on here and you know who you are YNWA, the rest, keep walking down the M62 to a place called Eastlands and do one. Jonson6

Hi Ed001, I just read on you twitter account that the Nasri to Man City deal is basically done apart from the medical. I hope that's true because that means an even weaker Arsenal team for us to play on Saturday :D

Big Pappa Pump ST {Ed002's Note - It is true. He is apparently (according to other Eds) having a medical this afternoon.}

Has there ever been a better time to play Arsenal since Wenger has been Manager?

I really think Arsenal are there for the taking in Liverpool's next premiership match. They still havn't solved there centre back problem and goalkeeping problem which has been on going for several seasons. Since Campbell and Lamann left. Add to that no Fabregas, Clichy, possibley Nasri. With Wiltshire injuied Gervinho surspened. Liverpool should be rubbing there hands with the chance to play Arsenal, one of there main top 4 contenders this season.

If Liverpool play like they did for the first 45 minutes against Sunderland then Liverpool could get a hat full

Fellow posters, esteemed editors and keen readers, greetings to ye all.
Been long. I myself have been on hols the past 3 weeks.
It's good to be back.

On the SAFC match, I thought we showed some terrific touches movement and energy, albeit only for the first 45. Enrique had a solid debut while both Adam and Downing did fairly excellently. Much promise.

Second half I was confounded how we suddenly gased out and it all went haywire.
Varying reasons for this have been advanced.

But the one I'm more inclined to believe pertains to our preseason.
It would seem that much priority was given to putting the deadwood/redundancies on the "shopping window" as opposed to maximising the fitness levels of those players in our plans.

Rather too many changes were made per and by, game; no settled eleven.
Aqua, Degen, Ngog etc.
I for did lend my support for this.
But we overdid it.
In any case, it's more or less done bugger all to help our cause as, bar Aquilani, the rest were just rubbish and, if anything, made potential buyers turn away in puke.

Some have suggested that the "alivewood" should got an average of 70 minutes on the pitch per game;
that United and Chelsea done it are a lot fitter than us as a result.

Well, that's all in the past now, isn't? Let's hope we can sort ourselves out very soon.
Fitness, like confidence, is everything in football.
Gasing out like that in games is fatal.

We've shown that we can play, now the trick's to do that over the course of 90 minutes.
If we can rediscovery our killer instict and be domineering from the first to the last whistle, we'll certainly be up there.

Another thing that worries me which I hope DC&KD will look into is, bar Suarez, the lack of a creative, attacking outlet with the skill and ingenuity to produce a moment of magic/or single-handedly win the game if needs be.

A player like Mata would've been a good fit. I just couldn't understand why it had to be "either" Downing "or" Mata, "not both".
Two diametrically different players who'd have each added varying attributes and dimension to our game.

You won't find a more nonsensical and cretinous comparison.
Muppets.
I also saw a post here where some poster solicits opinion on who's "better": Torres or Suarez.

Really, now? Guess you'll next be asking: "What's better: leg or arm."
Good Folwer

How I wish I could slap with a damp, stinking sock your dumb face.

Drew, Steve Parker, where are ye, good folk? Miss yer insight and eloquence.

i watched the arsenal game last night and i still can't believe they kept a clean sheet, both of their fullbacks push up at the same time leaving them very short at the back. Really looking forward to the game on saturday wouldn't be surprised to see Charlie Adam pick out a few great passes and catch them out on the counter.

Two weeks left of the transfer window i'm sure there will be a big surprise for us Liverpool fans, that doesn't mean a £30m that some people are calling out for, just let Kenny pick the players and enjoy the football, saturday was a blip keep the faith.

always a red

17 Aug 2011 13:18:53
It would be nice if we can nick all three points on saturday, especialy as they are our rivals for a Champions League spot,an away victory will be very welcome,I no its only wendesday but Im excited already.

assuming a 1st teamer, a cover and a youngster in each position then looking pretty good to me apert from CB

1st/Cover/Youngster/Sell
GK Reina/Doni

RB Johnson/Kelly/Flanagan/Degen
CB Carragher/?/Wisdom/Kyriakos
CB Agger/Skrtel/Wilson/ -
LB Enrique/Aurelio/Robinson/Insua

LM Downing/Maxi/Suso/Cole
CM Lucas/Meireles/Spearing/Aquilani
CM Gerrard/Adam/Coady/Poulsen
RM Kuyt/Henderson/Shelvey/El Zhar

FWD Suarez/Pacheco/Sterling/ -
FWD Carroll/Kuyt/Morgan/Ngog

prob get 15-17m for those to sell which should buy a decent CB

17 Aug 2011 13:37:48
KD wants a striker and a right winger both with blistering pace. He'd even settle for someone who could play in both position I.e a Walcott type player. Not saying it is him but he would be ideal.

Great post by cozinoz mate, but Scouserjonny wow. Not only awe inspiring and 100% bang on but the best post i've read in a long time on here maybe the most the best i've read full stop . hope it does knock some sense into the head of the supporters who do nothing that moan then say i'm entitled to my opinion then fail to sign off. Like yer said mate not only plastic but 9 out of 1 prob more remained unsigned so they can jump back on the bandwagon when all seems well and good to them, i.e 10 points clear after 10 games. Personally i think were in a great place so i dont see what the big feckin problem is they have with our Great Club. Jonson6

Am i alone in thinking Liverpool have made good signings this summer, and brought in good cover in certain postions this summer. But i feel they are short in the centre back area with Carragher and the Greek being a bit on the old and slow side. Agger being to injury prone and Skertel not being that great. Kelly will be a great centre half in time but not there just yet. So if there are no more comings and going this summer i really wish the £20 million we spent on Henderson had been spent on a centre back like Cahill. Because i think we are over run with centre midfielders unless the club sell either Mereiles or Aqualani or both then we the money from there sales we could get another centre back.

But on the whole i think Kenny has done a fantastic job with the players he has brought in. Sorted out the left hand side with Enrique and Downing, Brought in a play maker Adam, and have a fantastic strike force in Carroll and Sureaz. Also playing Kuyt in his correct postion upfront is like having another new player. When Torres was at the club we only had one striker unless you count Ngog. We only had one left sided player in Aurlio who spends half the season on the treatment table. Now we have Downing, Enrique and Adam with a left peg. Henderson is one for the future, just need another centre back, you won't catch me complaining about any of the new faces in the squad. Lets get behind the boys and stop bashing them after the first game this season

Predictions
Jose Enrique-buy of the season will solve the LB problem and will improve himself
Hendo-This season will be up and down will be a great buy give some time couple of years
Downing-flop of the season sorry not worth 6m let alone 20m doesn't take a defender on crossing ability in overrated
Adam-Decent on the ball but awful off it will be an impact player at best, will be read carded soon and still is overweight
Doni-backup goal keeper so not reading a lot
Carroll-will do a job not what every one is expecting will be a decent player

A touch of class need buy Mata, Hazard, heck even Rossi.

I think everyone agrees with me that Suarez is world class. Now my main concern is how this seems so familiar; Suarez et al, like Torres et al.

I feel we shld get marque signings hate the word or not. Coz if we dont win anything we just become a place where stars are made showcased and sold.

if Suarez is the only standout player, he will stand out and ppl will buy him. So I hope DC and KK avoid the Torres saga and buy more.

17 Aug 2011 11:55:26
Does everybody here agree Suarez is better than Torres so lets just say we got a better deal look at it like this we got 50 million for Torres an bought Suarez who is a better player :-) so forget the price tag of andy Carroll its sorta like a 2 for 1 deal with Carroll coming free coz Suarez is defo worth 50 million now an Torres about £20 million I can't wait for Carroll to come back an bite the fans on the bottom how stupid would you all feel if he got 25 goals oh and everyone saying we could av had aguero for 3 million more than Carroll just wait till we got Swansea at home an destroy them wait till aguero plays a fulham sunderland everton tough places to go judge him then an then after they play us an Man Utd Chelsea arsenal judge him then coz while he might struggle big andy will not as we no teams don't Wana play against him just watch what happens ( suarezs left ball)

Ed i have seen a lot of reports that kenny was at the man city game on monday night? We aren't playing either team for a long time so do you think he might have been their to watch adam johnson? {Ed002's Note - Manager's often go to games with no particular motive. It would be nothing but speculation to say he was watching any particular player.}

17 Aug 2011 11:34:59
Hi Ed, do you think gerrard will be fit for the Arsenal game? Thanks a lot, Nelly. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea at all, sorry.}

why don't the eds just write down what they know instead of answering questions? would be a lot better and would stop all the crap talk that people do on here still i enjoy reading it though lol

How can your criticise Torres, I would have him every time ahead of any premier striker, you have a short memory

If you had a choice, Carroll or Torres ... Torres every time

17 Aug 2011 11:07:35
I am Scouse and English and I am still entitled to my opinion. I do not think kk has bought wisely, I hope he proves me wrong. We are a big club but did you see any of the other big clubs going for Henderson or Carroll - remember we paid 55million for them.

Well said cozinoz, valid point by LIVERPRES to tho about our plastic brigade who seem to have popped up more and more regularly. The majority and it has to be stressed, the majority of LFC fans are not fickle, are opinionated but never to the detriment of slagging our own players off, we know when a player is putting in the effort, not really trying. I to always wanted Aguero but the second I woke up n realised it was never gona happen, moved on, great player that he is, hes still not an LFC player so who cares what he does. he could score 2 a game (apart from against us, but if he does wel get 3 ha) and I really wouldnt give a flying fook really wouldnt care less, I think its about time that Johnson6, Blair, and all of the real fans(sorry if ive missed you off) just dont rise to the crap coming from plastic fans and rival fans alluding to be LFC fans, Lets continue to post our braveheart posts, stick it to the idiots who think being an LFC fan is anything but a privelage. I didnt choose to be a red, I was born a red, and theres the differenece between a true supporter/fan and the plastic fan still hanging on to our Champions League win in 2005. Someone who chooses to be a red weighs up the pros and cons, if you are born a red, You live with the Pros & Cons(Not very many of those to be fair)

We seem to have a few players loitering with no real intent.

Some of these players are not up to the standard required, whilst other have no desire to play for the club or need a new challenge.

Unfortunately, this seems to be clogging up our finances due the need of transfer funds or because of the wages stipulated in their contracts.

Could anyone provide information regarding length of contract remaining and weekly wages for the following:

Degen
El Zhar
Kyrgiakos
Insua
Cole
Aquillani
Jones
Poulsen

Hopefully this will give a indication of transfer fees or settlements expected.

Quite agree with previous banter concerning the atmosphere, terrible. And also that we cannot get excited by hoofing the ball up to the big fella, lets get the ball on the deck and play some exciting football (dreadful second half) and this just might excite the crowd.

17 Aug 2011 09:31:39
With reference to an earlier post concerning the atmosphere on Saturday v. Sunderland. I noticed it was very quiet indeed. In fact after the game I was talking to some Sunderland fans and they said they were very surprised how quiet Anfield was. What has happened to the 12th man?

17 Aug 2011 09:26:47
This has nothing to do with the current season, but just a prediction for the future:

If Luis Suarez does brilliantly for us in the next two seasons (which i hope he does), then expect Barcelona to make a bid for him to replace the ageing David Villa (will be 31 in two years). He would fit very well in their system of play and would be an automatic starter in David Villa's position on the left of a front three.

Suarez ----- Messi -----Sanchez
Iniesta-----Bosquets---Fabregas

Here's hoping they leave him for us unless we get ridiclous money for him...if we dont challenge and win trophies....he will probably do a Torres and force a move.

End of Banter

17 Aug 2011 09:19:21
Having watched the Arsenal game last night I believe its our best chance to get a result against them in a long time. Not only have they lost Fabregas and probably nasri but Wilshire, Gibbs and Djourou are injured and Gervinho is banned. Just hope Kenny puts out an attacking team as I can see Carroll getting a goal on Sat

NOTE: We are all entitled to our opinions and put forward our points of view. In all honesty I bet there are lots of Liverpool supporters (myself included) who do realise that we HAVE paid well over the odds for certain players recently and that some of the players we are being linked with are just not good enough. This is a banter page and as I said previously we are entitled to our opinion.

i wonder is comolli away to bring some more talent to the club or all our transfer are already complete and he feels he needs a well earned break. the latter seems more likely.

17 Aug 2011 07:26:32
I've always been a bit part chanter at the match but i've made a decision to be vocal this season as I took the view i'd be a bit of a hypocryt if I wasn't due to all the moaning i've done over the years as to how quiet the Kop has become.

Well, first 10 mins on saturday the Kop roared, then slowly it became quieter and quieter, second half you could effectively here someone pass wind.

They don't shut up at the Brittania for 90 mins and we never used to 15-20 years ago. I'm sure this has a bearing on the players and plays its part in why we don't finish teams off.

17 Aug 2011 07:17:50
HI eds, looking from a purely business point of view the presant owners have no option but to build new stadium seeing the money the have to lay out just to put a decent not great(which is needed)team on the field ,at some point they will expect a return and its going to be awhile before thats even a possibility
the egos of (I guess) city /chelsea/p/s/g malaga/etc
have seen to that.ah well thats not really our worry is it so roll on saturday.

17 Aug 2011 01:03:42
Why all the negativity after one game? Why the complaints that we could have bought Aguero instead of Carroll? Why are people slating Henderson after ONE competitive game?
Debate the team selection by all means but dont lay into the players before they have had the chance to prove themselves.
There's a huge difference between FANS of a team and SUPPORTERS of a team, and there's a reason why Liverpool FC is known worldwide for their renowned supporters.
When Arsenal beat us 2-0 in the dying seconds of the 1989 season to steal the championship from us, our supporters didn't leave Anfield empty but stayed behind and applauded the Arsenal team.
The Kop did the same in 1969 when Leeds pipped them at the post.
If we sign 11 Paul Koncheskys (god forbid).....support your team. If we get relegated one year...support your team. If you don't like the players that have been brought in...get behind them and give them 100% and expect they do the same. Remember what YNWA means.

ed, do you think we'll get paddy mccourt? he looks brilliant but he's 27 years old : weve not been looking for players that old so i dont know? he looks like he could be a good signing, what do you think? {Ed001's Note - nope, he can't even play for more than 25 min a match, there is no way it will happen.}

After looking on here and seeing some people talking about the upcoming game against Arsenal, I thought I'd have a nosey on their rumours site, to get their take on it.

They seem pretty confident on signing Hazard and Cahill, but then people on here said Aguero was "nailed on to Liverpool". With regards to saturday's match, they're not confident in the slightest, and don't even think they've contemplated Luis Suarez ripping their defence to shreds. Might not be the most relevant bit of information, but its still good to know how the opposition are feeling towards it. Let's just hope that can confirm their fears and give our own players a good little boost.

hi ed's loving the site . first time post so bare with

all this talk of CB and backup striker , do any of the ed's any info on a RW signing or are we lookin at henderson or kuyt to do that job and if so is henderson upto it ( kuty run all day and do a job . good engine .. jus love his ethic ) but surely we need wingers on both sides ...any thoughts .

slonk YNWA {Ed001's Note - I haven't heard anything of a right sided player, which is why I have always believed Henderson was bought for that position. There is always Johnson and Gerrard who can play there as well if need be.}
