Just had to post a link to this, Borussia Dortmunds Fans showing support for the 96, by singing You`ll Never Walk Alone on Tuesday night before they played Wolfsburg.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNtuW0NOw-M

I just thought that was unbelievable show of support, hats off to Dortmunds very classy fans

Got to say it's unbelievable the support the 96 have got from all over the globe and hope justice per veils even if it is 25 years too late YNWA may they have all found peace and hope we can put a smile on there face come may

Agree0 Disagree0

They have supported us for years, aswell as Munich and Olympiakos. But them singing ynwa isn't unusual as they sing it every game just like us

Agree0 Disagree0

When they got beaten 3-0 at home by Bayern, their fans carried on singing until the end. I was glad to see them go to the Allianz and win. Classy team with great fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tic tac, that's true but the announcement before the crowd starts singing makes it clear that it is a tribute to the 96 on this occasion.

Agree0 Disagree0

It gets sung at a lot of bundesliga matches, not just dortmund. Not sure why.

hi eds and reds

like everyone else i'm wondering who we will sign, I've heard of many players being mentioned, but I think if we win the prem, then everything changes because we attracted very good players because of who we are and our history and with winning the prem and being in the champs league the players will want to come to us even more, but BR has done a great job with a small squad and I think we only need 1 or 2 major signings and that we should continue with developing the young talented players look at flanno for a RB he has done great at LB and won rave reviews, we have some really exciting opung guns coming through we have suso to come back, maybe a loan in the championship or to another team in the prem will bring him on even more, we have our long term injured players to come back aswell, but I must say enrique should be sold, he just can't take the rigours of the prem, flanno will be a great replacement for GJ and then there's martin kelly,

we don't need to spend over the odds on transfers, just let BR continue doing his great work and let's look forward to seeing our young guns coming through and taking the prem by storm a bit like sterling has done, the future is looking good and you don't fix something if its not broke

Eds & Reds,

Someone correct me regarding this if I'm wrong but I believe the scenarios for Europa league qualification are as follows-

Currently 5th enters at the Group stage, 6th enters at the final qualifying round-

If Arsenal win the FA Cup and finish 4th- 7th gets Europa
If Arsenal win the FA Cup and finish 5th- Hull get Europa
And obviously if Hull win the FA cup they get the final Europa spot.

Was only interested in this because it seems most likely Spurs & Utd will be in the competition next year and I wonder how seriously they will take it given the incentive of qualifying for CL via winning that.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think if arsenal finish 4th and win fa cup hull gets a place

Hay ROI. read about your mate in the local paper. Very sorry to hear of your troubles. I know it's not too much of a consolation but we're going to win the league.

I will say a prayer for your friend and uncle and hopefully your budding football career has not been halted too much YNWA MATE.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cheers Quigz, means a lot. So unfortunate the way it happened. Hopefully if we can win the league it will it will make up for all the things to happen off the pitch. 15th April will have me praying for 97 people from now on.
Cheers,

Hard to believe Brendan Rodgers has been in charge of Liverpool FC for only 22 months, with the squad now remodeled and the progress on the pitch, I don't think any other manager could have done a better job . keep it going - amazing!

Ed001, any chance of a break down of our victory against City?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He is not around today.}

17 Apr 2014 14:05:17
Hi can somebody (eds) please clarify what our situation with ffp is and possible budgets for players. In my mind I am thinking we can not spend as we need to break even as a minimum next year.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is not as simple as that Mikey. The subject seems to confuse folks no end and although I have explained before, there seems little point in doing so again.}

There's a great read on the BBC about it. Talks about city and the rules etc

Agree0 Disagree0

Really something to worry about more in March 2015 once this fiscal year's results are released. Spending in the summer wouldn't hit the books until the following fiscal year released in March 2016. In other words, our compliance (or non-compliance) for the year following this upcoming one (meaning CL of 15/16 assuming we were to qualify again next season) has already happened.

Even if the Barkley talk comes to nothing the rumor originally has to have some legs to it no matter how unlikely it was.

But I think the main positive as eds have been saying is that Liverpool will have money to buy top players if they fit the bill.

I'm not saying we're going to splurge 100s of millions but I think it is very possible to see 1 or two top drawer signings probably one established and one more youthful and then a couple of squad players.

If this was to be the case I would be very happy assuming they were in the positions we need full back midfielder and wide forward

I for one anyway am looking forward to the summer but eds realistically anything on Barkley? Can't find any answer of note

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not going to happen buddy

Agree0 Disagree0

I really don't see us signing 6 or 7 players this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Apr 2014 14:56:43
Is it not a case of Barkley wanting a wage rise so agents are starting to put certain wheels in motion?

Agree0 Disagree0

Never said this was going to happen lads but being linked with top players is never a bad thing though! I still see 3-4 signings as I've listed above. mist likely at the moment being people like tadic konoplyanka Bertrand and possibly a striker/attacking mid but come on its all looking up and even with theses signings we're in a fantastic position!

I think the city result has swung a huge tactical advantage oer from boreihno to br for the Chelsea game. Where as before, we would of had to win, so I could see us chasing a result and being liable to concede, I think br can now approach to maybe shut up shop and hit on the counter by the second half, still think the first half we need to go at them however.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Park the bus? surely not lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Aha why not? Seeing as we lose a grip on the game by the second half, I reckon we may as well go all guns blazing for 30 mins, if we get a goal great, either way after, we set up stall and try to pick Chelsea off with the pace of our counter. Br and boreihno are the master tacticians, I could see a 0-0 bore draw with either side scared to go for it.

Agree0 Disagree0

No belfast, wouldn't wanna steal your RIVETING blueprint mate. Besides, not even sure what game the OP is talking about. As far as I'm concerned, Norwich is the only team worth worrying about now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just attack attack attack, they have a decent defence but it won't keep us from scoring at least a goal. They don't score enough goals to outscore us at home. It will be Chelsea who will park the bus.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal had a decent defence until they came to Anfield.
Going to have to be all guns blazing for me against all the remaining teams we play. There's no point us being too defensive as our defence leaks goals. Going to be a nervy few weeks but I'm sure by May 11th we'll be crowned Champions!
YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

They will surely park the bus against us and will try to do counter attack. For this game Lucas needs to play but we should continue to play as we used to.

Agree0 Disagree0

You do know that we have another game to play before we face Chelsea, people are talking as if the Norwich game is a forgone conclusion, if we get a bad result in that game then everything changes, one game at a time lads, let's not get to far ahead of ourselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's the Palace game I'm more concerned with.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop Puncheon and Bolasie and you largely stop Palace. Going to be incumbent on our fullbacks to shepherd those two.

I hope we can fend off the bid for John Flanagan by Barcelona in the Summer.
Cos there's no way on this worldly earth that Flanno wouldn't have put Garth Bale up in the stand on that late goal-scoring run last night!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said the Juicer. Yesterday while watching the game I told my son exactly the same, there is no way Flanno would have let Bale passed him, no way.

Way back in January I was reading an article about the title run ins and the various outcomes that could occur. He (tony cascarino) predicted that man city would win with chelski 2nd and us 3rd. For a bit of fun I went through the matches and wrote out my predictions. So far so good for me and yes I have the mighty pool as winners on good to the chavs! I had even written down, through my red tinted specs, that the mancs would draw against Sunderland. The odds were pretty good as well but I don't gamble. I am so proud of this team and what they are doing its like the other teams are mesmerised by the red wave that hits them. I don't care what anyone says Norwich, chavs, palace and the Geordies will all fear us much more than vice versa. It's like Brenda says we just want the ball and play the game the way it's meant to be played. You reap what you sow!! I can't and won't let any negative feelings or emotions cloud what is already an unbelievable achievement. We beat Norwich that's Champions league secured. Then who knows! It's been an emotional week all round but I think the emotions will only get stronger and stronger as the season pans out. I love my club. red forever. YNWA

Regardless of how much money may or may not be at Rodgers' disposal this summer, there is something of a dilemma. In the space of two seasons, Rodgers has taken Liverpool from a team who were nowhere near the top four and for whom mid-table obscurity looked a more likely outcome, to title challengers and potentially champions. Ok, he has the remarkable Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard in his team and has spent a not insignificant sum of money, but he's not bought a single established superstar. Rodgers' most expensive signing cost £18m. Arguably his best signings so far have cost £12m and £8.5m. Brendan's M.O seems to be to improve existing young players (Flanagan, Sterling, Henderson), and to sign players who have had bright reputations but have struggled to establish themselves at other clubs, or young players for future development. With a successful season behind us, greater revenues to come next season and, possibly, a bit more money available for players this summer, does Rodgers stick to the approach that's served him reasonably well so far, or look to add one or two top, established players.

Rodgers hasn't been perfect in the transfer market by any means. When budget is limited, it certainly raises eyebrows when you spend £20m on three players who barely feature, even if one or two of them do have a bright future. We also have £11m Borini and £7m Ilori loaned out. When transfer money is short, having £18m worth of signings on loan at other clubs isn't a great look.

Put simply, despite our progress this season and the positive financial implications, we still can't afford the top, established players so I don't think Rodgers will be able to change his approach significantly, and I don't think this is a bad thing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Personally I think the outlay on Sakho is going to prove the best buy - his value (both financial and to the team) is only going up and if he keeps performing and improving he could be our first choice centre back for the foreseeable future.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think when you look at what modern day football is becoming, I would view putting player on loan to gain experience a good idea. I'd rather them get 10-20 premier league games a season than 20 or so 90 minute reserve matches. I certainly think Borini will have come back a better player for his loan, although I wished he'd played more central.

I think a lot of credit has to be handed to FSG as well who have bankrolled us, took the tough decision of sacking kenny, and employed rodgers and gave him a rough policy to follow. I think from the top brass down, there has been a plan and goals to achieve and every department is hitting them

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It was not a tough decision to sack Dalglish, Suarez made sure of that.}

Sakho and Ilori would be a great partnership, Ilori has everything just needs to add physicality to his game.

KD also has Downing & Carroll to thank not all to do with Suarez, if the owners were that unhappy with Suarez he would have been sold.

Agree0 Disagree0

He probably would have been sold if the potential/expected bid from Real had ever materialized. It didn't, so he wasn't.

Celtic fan here! What an entertaining team you have, love watching the pool at the minute. I think the neutral must want you to win the league this year for this but think with the 25 year hills borough anniversary then it should be fate. God bless and good luck and hope you can finish the job

If we can take all 3 against norwich it tees up an even more epic clash with chelsea! Not many would have forseen city to drop points yesterday and if we can focus on ourselves we can keep it in our own hands!

Im always an optimist, (some what happy with progression and baby steps) but by all means I am getting nervous and excited, wanna thank palace for doing over everton as my 8 leg multi came through for the weekend and won 260! Money is going away for sons treatment and therapy!

Hi Eds and fellow Reds

What is all this about fate smiling down on us? Sunderland played a great game of football against a team who used to score for fun. They were unlucky to get just one point. We are top because we deserve to be there and because WE ARE THERE.
Sunderland will give Chelsea a game and we could be 5 points ahead after the Norwich game. could be. Luck plays a part only to those who meet it half way. We dare, show no fear and luck rides with us, perhaps.
Show me one league winner who didn't at some point ride their luck.
Things are unfolding in our favor but will only count if we take advantage, which I wish to heaven we do!

Sorry for stating the bleeding obvious but we are top of the league on merit and if we win it, it will be on merit.
Having said all that, Good Luck boys for the remaining 4 games! (lol)

For the Steven Gerrard detractors out there, I've just read an article by a little known ex footballer who says, and I paraphrase, " England have created 2 of the best midfield players in the world of the past 20 years, Steven Gerrard and Paul Scholes, in fact at his peak Gerrard was probably the best all round midfielder on the planet".
The little known ex footballer was Zinedine Zidan, any detractors with better credentials than ZZ and I might start to doubt myself and believe them, until then, shush!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And who can argue with that quote, Stevie is by far the best England midfielder of all time, I had a hard time trying to educate the mancs.

Well Plymouth red, there is an assistant to a youth team coach ( I think I've got that right) who knows better than ZZ". apparently
