I'm great Real KB mate, went down to Wembley with a load of reds and blues and had a great time, I'll be at Norwich, never been either so should be a good one, another old fashioned ground like QPR. How have you been mate?

Bouncing. Thought we were gonna get beat on Saturday. So did my brother who was down, season ticket holder Blue. They were all singing "you're gonna get sacked in the morning" on the tube.
But he slunk off sharpish at half two mate. Lol. Drowned his sorrows in a bottle of Jack on the way back up north.
Hope you all had a good day.

Good old koptalk reckons we will interview txiki soon... Is that a coincidence as Mr henry is flying into Liverpool tomorrow? and I do know how reliable koptalk is... Just wanted to know because of the timing of it.

Hi ed's any info on Raheem Sterling stepping up next season? I think it'd be the best move for us no matter who was brought in, we need to keep him interested in the club, give him something.. also any news on Carroll, Henderson, Adam disappearing in the summer? {Ed002's Note - He is only just 17 - don't expect too much too soon.}

Yes, iv heard theres more chance of you getting the ballon d'or than all three of those.dissapearing. The club are not going to go back on so much investment so soon. We bought Henderson for his.potential and hes been used more due to various injuries or poor form. We bought Carroll for a different dimension upfront and although hes struggled hes scored some really important goals, got us to the.final, saved us 2 points against blackburn and beat Everton in the derby, hes starting to come good under immense pressure. Adam.was bought for his left peg, not to be a world beater and hes doing well consistently, he will never be Alonso.

Eds / Macca?

What is you opinion of Shelveys future prospects?
{Ed001's Note - I like Shelvey, I think he has a very good future at the club, he has excellent vision and works hard, both in training and on the pitch.}

Shelvey is a very good player who does ooze quality, I agree ed that he works hard and I would also like to point out that he has alot of confidence in his own ability and even though some would call it arrogance, it's something that we have been missing this season.

Kind regards

Huntelaar should be brought in, in my opinion with dirk kuyt going the other way in a cash/player deal maybe 30euro and dirk? Anyone agree?

Who the f*** disagreed u can't even buy a lacoste polo for 30euro in the airports so a proven goalscorer for this price plus rafas dirk is well worth it!

17 Apr 2012 21:43:05
hi there ed's i've just been told that owner Jhon w henry will be heading to Liverpool tommorow.. Any news on that? And also any possible reason? Thanks for answering mate. This web is great! {Ed002's Note - I have no idea why he is coming over.}

Stadium related, maybe!.
I can't wait for some damn announcement.
This would be the perfect time to announce plans, before a big final.

Andy Carroll needs to be watching videos of Gomez. Similar types of players, but Gomez's anticipation of play is outstanding. A lot of lessons to be learned there. Nick.

I couldn't agree with you more. Everything abouts Gomez' movements seemed like Carroll, I felt almost sick watching it. The only thing that Carroll lacks compared to him is a little bit of pace.

RenegadeRed

Gomez scored just 13 goals, (10 lge - 3 cup)
in his first season after a 35mil euro transfer.
Last season he scored 39 goals all competitions and he's on 40 goals so far this season.
kidmillions

I know you don't like him kidmillions, but maybe Carroll will still surprise you then...?

Ryan 'O

Ryan '0 : Like any true Liverpool fan I would love to eat my words on Carroll and I do admit, that's possible.

Can't believe the abuse some people are giving Ed 002, he/she gives up there time to edit this site for nothing and answers repetitive questions about people's pipe dreams and gets slagged of for saying we have no intrest, get a grip. I for on appreciate the work all the editors on here put in as without it we wouldn't have a site. Keep up the good work Ed's and don't let the gilfnards get to you.

How the hell are you ?
Booked my Norwich tickets today mate. Another ground that has eluded me. But I'm gonna be munching the carrots and smelling the sweet sweet sileage on the 28th !
Lol.
And looking forward to a cracking football match. And one of Delia's pies. Supposed to be the best in the league.

Ed001 ....Please could you provide some comfort. I was going to approach Ed002 but she's a plastic-flag waving chavette (apparently) and,therefore, my search for sympathy would be in vain.
I appreciate you're a proper Liverpool fan and your soubriquet endorses that fact (You can't beat Ed001!).
I'd simply like to know if you, or anyone in the know, knows how the ticketing system will work for the Final.
For the Semis there were 31,500 tickets each for Liverpool and Gollam's Also-Rans.
For the Final I imagine it'll be slightly less due to the habitual handing out of freebies to the FA's friends and family.
As one of 24,000 or so Season-ticket holders I would hope that my chances were still pretty good of a ticket but, judging by the allocation of the semis-tickets, I doubt I'll stand a chance.
Please could you furnish me with any ticket-allocating policy you may be aware of and whether or not it's worth me pre-booking travel/hotels etc.?
I've rang the Ticket Office several times today with no luck (no info available).
I don't automatically qualify 'cos I only went to 2 FA Cup games so will probably go into a ballot as per the semis.
I think I can guess your answer already but would appreciate a reply.
ANFIELDPETE {Ed001's Note - I think Ed002 would have a better idea, even when I have had a season ticket and attended every single home game, league and cups, I have never been able to get final tickets. You might get lucky, but I very much doubt it, huge numbers are given to corporate 'partners' and the like. It doesn't leave many for the fans.}

17 Apr 2012 20:38:10
Ok! Change topic: When is the official release of the new designed kits? -and perhaps any idea what it may look like, you seem very 'known' anyway.

17 Apr 2012 20:14:32
Macca mentioned that we would be staying at Anfield rather than moving. Haven't seen anything else about it. Has there been any more movement on this yet??

Sooty {Ed002's Note - Not yet but it is the expected solution.}

17 Apr 2012 20:08:30
I can't believe you missed most of the first half of the Chelsea game Ed002! That's criminal. You must have been out on the tiles the night before?

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - Actually we had something to attenmd in the afternoon, had trouble getting a cab, trouble finding the correct entrance and by the time we got in and settled most of the first half had passed.}

At the Liverpool game, did you find it a very nervous atmosphere. It certainly came across that even the fans were on tender hooks!

The Irish Rover

Or Tenterhooks ? {Ed002's Note - I did not speak to many fans but one of the folks I was with was an avid, and quite well known, Everton supporter who took to holding his breath for long periods of time then swearing. Certainly he was on tenterhooks for much of the second half.}

The Everton supporter wasn't Dame Judy Dench, was it Ed002? She was there following her beloved toffees.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - No it wasn't Blair.}

It wasn't Freddie Starr was it ed002 ?
The Real KB

You don't know who Freddie Starr is ed ?He entertained the Everton team before the 86 Cup Final, which is why they lost it.
Here he is juggling barbed wire. Lunatic.

I am watching the Bayern - Real match on television and I just realised that it is an all English referee crew at work with... Atkinson as the goal line referee (!) and what can only be Webb in the middle. I ... How... Is there no... agh... just forget I said anything.

Atkinson on the goal line is pretty classic.

Was my post from this morning deleted? Just popped on to see how it was going.

Such a shame, I was well proud of it and the way it stumped Melbourne CFC

Not sure how true this is but ive heard that fenway are poised to put the guy who started up primark is as Director of football. Apparently we have that much crap to sell he is the best man for it

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea who Comolli was talking about, I haven't even seen any quotes regarding a central defender sorry.}

Tony Barrett said Comolli had know idea that he was going to be sacked and even had a meeting lined up this week with the agent of a striker target and another meeting with the agent of a center back target.

{Ed002's Note - Ask Tony Barrett then as we cannot help with tis.}

Hi ed's with mr henry flying back over this week! Do u see an appointment or even more p45? Plus what about appointing a mr houllier for the d o f job! Wasn't he a great success at being the french d o f? Just a shout! Plus I read the celtic d o f has been mooted, any truth? Y..N..W..A Thanks ed's DHH L20 KOPITE! {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what will be happening this week. I doubt M Houlier will be returning.}

Edds where is johnson nowadays, haven't seen him on these boards for quite a while {Ed002's Note - How would I know where he is?}

Sorry edd i just wondered if he'd been banned as he used to be a regular on here and not heard anything from him for a while, Thanks anyway. {Ed001's Note - ah got you, not seen him either.}

17 Apr 2012 19:22:28
I can't understand that if Dalglish has made all signings till date then why will Fsg want to trust him with the DOF role
HARSH

Yep, best to keep him as manager

cozinoz

Because the signings he made could win us 2 cups this season

Red Ollie

Ed1 i had a chat with carlton palmer and he sayed comolli was responsible buying andy carrol for 35 million

Maxi,Kuuyt, Aurelio,Ecclestone, Cole,Aquilani,
Pacheco,Darby and Johnson will deffo leave in the Summer.
One or two others will pack their bags and there'll be some surprise additions.
This is a pretty safe "prediction" and not based on anything other than educated guesswork....with a smattering of newspaper-talk.
Even if I did have "insider information" I don't think I'd be able to offer too much more.
Kenny's future could hinge on the FA Cup but I can't see FSG trusting him in the transfer-market.
I hope we replace the above-named players with quality but also hope we keep the nucleus of our squad with more playing-time for Kelly,Shelvey, Sterling,Lucas, Robinson,Flannagan,Coates,Coady, Adorjan, Silva,Morgan(perhaps) and Suso.
I would love to see Dempsey from Fulham, Matty Phillips, Joe Allen and someone like Ricky Lambert or Jordan Rhodes as a squad-player. Don't get me wrong, I also think we need some "marquee" signings (that word again) and I wouldn't complain if we signed two of ;
Jan M'Vila, Thorgen Hazard, Munain, Sissokho, Honda, Gago or Soldado from abroad.
I'm not a connoisseur of foreign footie so I don't really know if the above list has any validity but I do know we NEED creativity,bite and guile in midfield.....something Spearing and Adam can only dream about!
I'll resist the temptation to submit my "dream-team" for next season. Partly out of respect for the current team and partly because it's way too early.....sufficed to say it won't resemble the current side too exactly.
ANFIELDPETE

Have you seen much of Thorgen Hazard then?

Gav

Can anyone or any Eds clarify how the team selection has been decided this season? Has it been 100% Dalglish or how much input or influence did Camoli have?

Also, is Dalglish now manager and director of football for the club?

Cheers

{Ed002's Note - Dalglish is manager and he will decide the team taking note of input from other coaches and the medical staff.}

Just after reading an article on sky sports from gary neville on diving and ashley young in particular, he really is delusional if he thinks people are going to buy his BS on diving just because it was a utd player. gary neville is employed to give his so called expert opinion fairly and without bias if he is too afraid to upset his old boss he really should'nt be working as a football pundit but then again we are talking about sky sports, is anybody really surprised?

Rather than just slag Neville off why don't you actually read what he says? He doesn't condone it, he explains why it happens and has given an expert opinion.

WHAT! if it doesnt conform to the blinkered view of your average liverpool anarchist its a disgrace shoot him! .it may come as a surprise,but outside the darkened room you live in most of us in the outside world think gary neville has been a revelation, honest and fair with all clubs,and im not even a manc.if you want to talk about the blinkered media try mickey quinn on talk sport,blinkered,twisted and bitter who offers nothing to any other supporter.but i bet thats all ok with you fine, fair, rightious lot

He also said that it was a penalty which it clearly was'nt, because young dived, so instead of saying everybody does it why does'nt he just admit that young dived which every man and his dog could see apart from those who are tied in with utd.

His opinion on diving is clearly formed by the fact that it is a United player in the headlines. He said last night after the Wigan game that diving was endemic (well he didn't use that word) in the game because of the influence of foreign players. It was in some ways a fair point but it very much came across like he was saying 'It's not Young's fault he's dived, it's these foreign cheats coming over and influencing him. Poor lad, he's at a very impressionable age'

Red Ollie

As a Liverpool fan I know I will get slated by some of you but I think Neville has been fantastic as a pundit. I've not seen tactical analysis of that quality before. I'd absolutely love to see Cara and him work together. There would be some cracking debate.

Red Greco {Ed001's Note - sorry but no, it was much better in the early days with George Graham, a man who actually knew something about defending, rather than a very poor player who was lucky to have been part of a great side.}

My son is 3 in 3 months and said his last word 6 months ago and not a thing since even the Speech therapist in his nursery is confused but when it comes to football he is fast, powerfull on the ball, turns it well and he broke my glasses with a shot (99% are accurate) so i need some advice as to what age is the best to try and get him into a football class/academy he loves liverpool so like any lfc supporter/father i would like him to atleast have a shot at having a career in football as all signs point to him living/breathing football

Many thanks

The Bailiff

I certainly hope your son finds his voice soon mate..

He's still very young, but I'm not in a position to suggest the correct route tbh. Others mind have an idea..

If the talent is there, then he should be picked up at primary school or prior bud. Just keep the interest up daily..

Best wishes

Lee YNWA

I wish him success :)

17 Apr 2012 18:15:45
I noticed after Youngs dive the Mancs started going on about Gerrard, Suarez and Carroll all being massive divers now i know all players have dived in their career some more than others but surely the utd fans cant expect to win this argument most of their team fall over if its windy

United Players fall over when you breathe!

They,ve won mate gerrard is the reigning british champion at it everyone else is just a trainee at it

Utd have had Ronaldo, Nani and now Young.

There is no argument.

Lee YNWA

The word dive of the season was Andy Carroll, you can't argue with that can you? Shut up and support your cup team.

Another nameless tosser,manc tosser

Derek

Sadly one dive these days constitutes a serial diver charge

And the ones who go on doing it in every match are the SAINTS... Ashley Young....He is English and a serial diver...

SAF should stop moaning about the referees next time he gets a decision against them....

They may have played well but have been helped by referees through out the campaign.....

Johny Evans could have been sent off at least 4 times these season......But SAF calls him the best defender in the league.....Giveme a break.....Skrtel is not yards but miles ahead him......

One thing ManU fans can boast of is performances of Rooney, Scholes, Valencia and Rio this season......The fifth are the officials of course.....

Cup team we may be but we are still the most successful team in Britain....if you are unable to fathom it, just add the trophies.......

LiverBird

Manchester united is the most hypocritical organisation I have ever seen in all my life and this is why I hate them! Not because of their success but because of their unbelievable sickening hypocrisy. Take no notice

Peter

Who cares!.
Ashley Young is a pr*ck anyway!.

17 Apr 2012 18:08:18
Hi Eds?,
Andy Carroll scored 2 goals in the last two games.
Do you think that,this will ease any chance of him leaving?
I see that he doesn't fit our style of play"pass and move".
He has a low pass accuracy with a low speed.
JFT96
Y.N.W.A {Ed002's Note - I don't suppose it will make any difference.}

17 Apr 2012 17:59:16
Sorry if this has been asked but scrolled through and couldnt see anything. Does anyone have any idea when Liverpool will make an announcement on ticket allocation and selling details for the final.

Cheers in advance

Darsco

When I rang up to book my Fulham tickets they said they'll put details up as soon as they can. No date/time.

Stone YNWA.

LFC will make an announcement just as soon as the FA announce how many tickets we have

Ed 001,

I really don't like the situation with a Director Of Football at Liverpool. How can his philosophy on the game affect the managers team selections/etc That is just wrong - this doesn't happen with Arsenal or Man Utd {Ed001's Note - that's because Wenger and Fergie are the DoFs there, they don't do the coaching, they oversee it.}

17 Apr 2012 17:14:45
Ed001 have you seen much lately of our kids mate? I ask because whenever i've watched them Jordan Ibe, looks a very good prospect. He has a good physic, good skill and pops up with the odd goal. I think this kid could be another one to watch, what do you think?

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - yeah, he was highly rated at Wycombe before we got him, but personally I like the look of Nacho and Sinclair more. Ibe is more raw than either of those, with a bit of luck he will develop into a class player though.}

As it happens Ed, i think Oluwaseyi Ojo is the better prospect - he is at the same level internationally but is a year younger than sinclair and two younger than Ibe

Will have to agree on that one ed, nacho seems to find that space between the midfield and defence at ease and his weight and variety of passing is quality considering he hasn't had too much time to settle in. definantly one to look out for

17 Apr 2012 17:35:14
Alright lads, just wondering how everyone is getting their tickets for the final seeing as they'll be like gold dust, would love two tickets. Any tips on how they manage to get them? YNWA

Buy a season ticket and go to the previous rounds

17 Apr 2012 17:34:54
Rebel_Red {Ed002's Note - This is not a matter for discussion. Sorry.}

Hey must have comitted something near on treason ! lol

On a separate note; would you agree with me that we play far better with Bellers and Maxi playing the wings rather than Downing and Henderson.

Do you think, that if we were to bring in an experienced CDM as back up for Lucas, that Jay Spearing would be found surplus to requirements?

Cheers,

Rebel_Red

Or, after the amount of playing time he's had recently, Spearing himself would count as "experienced" and we save a few quid?

17 Apr 2012 17:34:30
Sorry just got back into England after being on an epic stag do in Amsterdam......Didnt watch the Chelsea match and am disgusted that people in Britain have as little respect as foreigners who probably had no clue what they were being silent for.

The whole Pub we were in full of foreigners people from around the WORLD fell silent when they realised they were meant too and kept their silence.Actually amazed me and my group who obviously kept quiet thinking we would be the only ones who realised what was going on , then suddenly a pub full of over a hundred people just stops everyone heads raised with their drinks aloft facing the tv I actually cant explain how it was one of those moments that will never be replaced.

Anyway had a buzzing time and probably stoned so not remembering right but if a bunch of foreigners can shut up for a minute how come we cant be so respectful for our own countrymen.

It amazes me what some people will disagree with and even if you support another team surely you dont desecrate the memory of 96 family members and friends lost come on get a grip.

hi ed just wonderin when the summer transfer window opens. Is it the start of june or july. And do you expect liverpool to act early.
Thanks
much appreciated {Ed002's Note - At midnight on the last day of the season for English transfers. Different dates for other countries. I have no idea when Liverpool will "act".}

17 Apr 2012 17:02:17
Hi, Eds. When do you think the new DOF will be appointed? {Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

17 Apr 2012 16:37:56
I love Kenny Dalglish and I hope he remains manager.

Nice one kenny

17 Apr 2012 16:32:49
Afternoon eds!
Great site!

Was wondering if you would could estimate (roughly) how much these players would be worth?
- Maxi
- Kuyt
- Brad Jones
- Poulsen
- Aquilani
- Pacheco
- Johnson

I understand that it depends on many factors.
Please post this!
Thankyou :) {Ed002's Note - Johnson is the only one with appreciable value. Aquilani has a fixed vale and Poulsen will go for zip. The others minimal amounts. Then you have to deduct payments made to agents, money owed to Joe Cole etc.}

Im sure if you paid a another club around 20m to take them all,there might be one or two takers.in another world if you boiled them down for glue i suppose you could make a few quid as well

Poulsen was sold not loaned out you balloon {Ed002's Note - Poulsen will be released as a free agent at the end of the season. Evian paid Liverpool to take him for one season but Liverpool are continuing to pay his wages.}

Theres only one I wouldnt have and thats Poulsen the others are good great squad players and some 1st teamers even if it is for only one or two more seasons.

-Maxi (do I need to say anything)
-Kuyt (Strong ability to grab a goal when needed and will wear down defences for a few more years yet it could be worse you could get Voronin).
-Brad Jones (Dont think weve seen the best from him really).
-Aquilani
-Pacheco (I liked him to be honest think he fell out with the top brass but they may have missed out a bit on him).
-Johnson (dont think hes the best RB Liverpool have but definitely deserves a 1st team spot maybe as a RM).

So yes 20 million and this lot I would take that all day long.

Hi all,
Everton fan here. Let me just start by saying im still gutted about the semi final, shame we didnt come out second half but in the end it looked like you wanted it more and probably deserve your place in the final so congradulations and good luck against the chelski.
Just wanted to say massive respect to a liverpool fan called SOOTY who posted a good message on the everton page about the respect by toffee's for the minutes silence.
That is what true blues are about and we have alot of respect for our neighbours.
Anyway, good luck for the final and rest of the season.
Liverpool City unite against the rest of the world.
All the best,

RobbyMac (trueblue)

Thank you. We should remember that the empty vessels rattle the most and drown out the real fans (who are in the majority like you who show their class , even in defeat. respect.

The rapid rise of Borussia Monchengladbach hasn't been all down to Marco Reus this season.

21-year-old right winger Patrick Herrmann, who could be the next Andres Iniesta, has also been a key player for the team, but hasn't been in the limelight anywhere near as much as Reus.

Which isn't right, as Herrmann has scored six goals and made seven assists this season, and has beat many a fullback in the Bundesliga this season with his pace and control on the ball.

At such a young age Herrmann is already developing greatly, and is definitely the best unheralded 21-year-old in Europe right now.

eds what do you reckon to this kid ? {Ed002's Note - I have no thoughts about him.}

He seems like a good'un for our right side

17 Apr 2012 16:12:10
Right. Had to come on and leave comment to put the record straight.

On Sunday their was a MINORITY of Chelsea fans that booed the one minutes silence. Now, yes they are Chelsea fans, but for all anyone knows they could be from Birmingham, Manchester, even Liverpool etc. Nobody knows where they come from or where they were raised, but one things for sure, they are a disgrace to the human race and its a damn shame they support my club. Every club will have fans that let THEMSELVES down, not the club, its themselves they let down. Just because they happen to support a certain club doesn't mean that the club has the same mentality as them, even the most uneducated person in the world should know that. To see people come on here and say Chelsea are a disgrace, that you now think its your destiny to beat us is beyond laughable to the point where i feel sorry for the Liverpool fans with half a brain that you have these complete planks supporting your club. But one thing i won't do is tarnish you all with the same brush because that would be pig-headed, small minded and ignorant.

I commented on here a few months back after watching a programme on your sky channel, it was about Dalglish after the Hillsborough disaster. I commented about how i never knew how much he had done for the families affected by the events, and how i can see why he is classed as a legend. It was one of the most heart wrenching programmes i have ever watched, quite simply it makes your REALISE. And i stand by that, i observed the minutes silence with friends. We're decent guys who understand the word respect, just like 99% of football fans. I support Chelsea, they support United, none of us like Liverpool particularly, but just like the majority of fans we know that some things are bigger than football.

I'm not going to finish this by apologising on behalf of Chelsea FC, we have nothing to apologise for, we have been let down as well. I just hope that the families involved get their Justice. JFT96.

Well said mate. Its simply wrong to lump you in with the cretins who booed.

Dara D

It's a 50/50 game, any liverpool or chelsea fan would be stupid to think anything else. form or history go out the window, teams are quite evenly matched as a whole if we're all honest. it'll be a case of which team wants it more.
what i do say as a liverpool fan is that we are more suited to playing chelsea than coming up against a fast paced 'in form' spurs team.
good luck for the final.

Osgoodisking, nice post and as you said we all have some idiots who follow our teams. However to say that a small minority booed is incorrect, a minority were actually singing ' murderers' , and to be honest it seemed more than just a few. As you said Chelsea had no need to apologise, but these idiots need to take a long look at themselves. Hears to a cracking final, and may the better team on the day win

What a field day the journos would of had when Alex Ferguson first took over of utd. He was getting sacked because of five years without a trophy but as much as i hate to say it he stayed on to become one of the greatest managers in the game today.

Former Liverpool Teenage Trialist and Striker Joel Pohjanpalo completed a hat-trick in the space of 3 minutes for his team HJK Helsinki on 15th April 2012.

Do you know anything about the Trial conclusion eds? Did he decide not to sign? Did we decide not to sign him? He looks a good player in the Finnish league and seems deadly infront of goal and at only 17 years old he could fit perfectly into our reserves.

Is there any potential date when Liverpool will reveal their new kits for next season? I'm eager to see what Warrior Sports have designed for us!

Players liverpool should try and sign this summer...

James Milner- works hard for the team good goin forward and defensively also can play anywhere across the midfeild

Adam Johnson- just not been given the chance at city tricky winger who would add a lot of creativity chip in with some goals and also good at set pieces

Muniain- fantastic young player who I think will one day be one of europes top players although could be pricey

Soldado- good goalscoring record domestically and in europe positive he would bang the goals in playing up front with suarez

Clint Dempsey- had a great season think he's ready to take the step up and play for a bigger club can play on either wing or up front always willing to have a shot from outside the box and quite often finds the back of the net

Yakubu- consistant performer for any club he's been at although he had some issues with injurys the past few years has came back strong and scored goals for a struggeling blackburn side

I am not saying we will get all these players but if we got a few of them would definately boost our chances of getting back into the top 4 but I feel we will end up buying the likes of matt philips, matt jarvis, steven fletcher who are decent players but not good enough for a team that wants cl football

Thanks

All but the yak, we already have the recently hitting form donkey ha (im a fan of carroll). id take any of the others, cant see milner or munian happening. tho itd be a kick in the gusset to get in a top goal scorer, do u think itd kill carrols confidence, maybe a young up and coming striker who wont mind playing from the bench? this is where dempsey would be good and not too pricey, cant see him going for more than 10mil.

also i have a feeling kd will definately play carragher in defence in the final purley out of respect to him, gotta say apart fom that one shambles moment at the back he was pretty strong and dominanent. next year coates, flannagan, robinson and kelly should be shown more time.

aussiepool tristan

I tink it would be a huge mistake to play Carra in the final. He was never the quickest to start with, and has now lost another couple of yards. He will be found wanting at wembley I'm afraid. He will be our achilies heel in the final.

hey eds,

i have been thinking. ofcourse Commolli could not have been sacked for just buying expensive. i meen obviously thats a humungus reason of course. But was he allowed to micro manage the squad. some could play some didnt if he didnt like it? it seems it to me atleast. and the sinister thing Macca was talking about is it that he was trying to get KK sacked?

thats what i came up with atleast. could you fill me in where im wrong. or right? {Ed001's Note - he was a lot more involved in team affairs than just scouting for players. He was not removed for trying to have Dalglish sacked.}

Hi eds. Great site.
I remember when you said that thorgan hazard is better prospect than his elder br0ther eden hazard. I would love to know your comment about thorgan hazard. And are liverpool intrested in him? Thank you. {Ed001's Note - he just looks a better player at his age than Eden ever did. He seems to have a much better attitude to the game as well, much more willing to work for the team. I don't know of any interest from us, I know Spurs have watched him for a very long while though.}

17 Apr 2012 11:26:29
I've been vocal in criticisms of the team recently and of Dalglish as well.. Whilst I do not believe I was unjustified in making these criticisms I've decided that I am not going to say anything more negative about the team this year. It's not because I have had a change of heart, or feel guilty, but rather that almost every single journalist/article/footballing person seems to be against Liverpool and I think it is bang out of order.

The next day reviews of our semi-final win were, in some of the rags, an absolute disgrace. The Daily Mail & The Independent should hang there heads in shame at some of the most vile, one sided 'journalism' (if it can be called that) I have ever seen - you would not of thought we actually won the game given what was written. I never read these newspapers usually but was directed to there content by a friend and I can only say that we area club being lambasted from all quarters this season - it is starting to become more and more clear why Dalglish is so frosty with the media.

The final straw is an article I have just read on the BBC website today by Clark Carlisle, the PFA Chairman, about diving. In his article he says he does not believe Ashley Young is a diver and uses the fact that he is "quick and slight" as an excuse for him hitting the ground easily. What really irks me is that he uses the example of Carrolls dive against Newcastle (for which he was yellow carded for) as an example of the sort of dive were retrospective punishment could be issued. He fails to mention anything negative about Youngs 2 blatent dives in 2 weeks - 1 which lead to a penalty and a red car effectively ending the game early and the other which also lead to an early penalty and a shift in momentum for United. This sort of one-sided, laughable bias from a man who is Charman of the PFA is quite frankly a joke.

I don't think our league form has been acceptable this season but I really feel our club is being targeted (and I am sure the whole Suarez racism saga has contributed to this). As a result I am refusing to negatively criticise the club any more and am adopting a siege mentality - when under such scorn and attack (either directly and indirectly) I think sticking together is the most important thing. I hope more a successful conclusion to our season.

YNWA.

SMc

You have contradicted yourself when you stated that you were vocal but now you are not. What is the difference between vocal doom-and-gloom fans and an unbiased media paid to print stories and articles? I suspect ANOTHER final has shut up many 'SUPPORTERS'.

DaveyBootle

And in no way does this coincide with a cup final for LFC:-), really?

Carroll may just possibly have been falling anywa,y but it looked like he was asking for the ref to make a judgement - which he did, and it was the correct one imo.

Ashley Young goes down easily and very theatrically - must practice in his garden at home (if it isn't offcially MUFC policy practiced at Carrington). From what I've seen though he hasn't tried to pretend that there was contact when there wasn't, i.e. he isn't guilty of simulation just OTT acting. Now, fabulous player though Luis Suarrez is ...... Fact is I don't like it any more than you do, but I'm not blind.

No harm in sticking together though (just without the blinkers eh?) JimK

The PFA is a joke, just like the FA. Check out which players us them as an agent. They'll never be mentioned by them. Caroll and Suarez constantly villified by the media with no protection from their 'union' what an absolute joke.

Well done you get behind the team when the season is more or less over.
k-h

@DaveyBootle - if you use the search function you can see my review of the semi-final, it was hardly glowing in its nature and gave, what I thought, a very realistic overview of the performance. Do not make out like I am not a supporter - i've followed Liverpool since my father took me to stand (or rather be carried) onto the |Kop when i was theree years old. I have criticised Liverpool and Dalglish a lot this season and even if we win the Final my thoughts will be unchanged i.e. league position nowhere near good enough. But given just how anti-Liverpool the majority of the eida (and the F.A, PFA, etc etc) are I don't really want to add to the negativity. Maybe I have been naive or simply blind (as I don't read any tabloaid or broadsheet as a general rule) but it seems like sticking together at such times might be, despite current performances, for the best.

***WEMBLEY SCANDAL***

You want scandal, well here's a proper scandal.
An after-match celebratory pint of Guinness in that daft Flutes Bar was pulled, by the barmaid, in approximately 10.2 seconds !!
I've seen nothing like it. No slowly and carefully half-filling the glass, and leaving it to stand for a minute.
Oh no, dashed out like it was some cheap pseudo Bavarian lager.
I know the numerous Irish lads on here will be appalled at this sorry tale.
Which was made complete by the drink being delivered in a plastic glass, for nearly a fiver !
And you think Andy Carroll is an over-priced crock of **** ?
The Real KB

Was the barmaid at least fit?

Some to dublin and I will show you a fantastic pint which you will down in seconds..... mmmm the creamines

The Aviva stadium in Dublin has this system (German technology I think) for pulling Guinness and it quite amazing how quickly it is poured! Tastes good as well!

It's the same everywhere KB, a fiver at the globe for flat lager. I wont drink in the torch the ales that bad. Mind you we dropped on a nice little hotel just round the corner from the Globe after the game, still a fiver a pint
but the barmaid was a beaut.

I know i spared a thought for the 96 and all you affected by that tradgic day. Couldn't of asked for a better final though, think the banter might just pick up a little until you lot go into hiding. Unfortunately for you guys i reckon it will be drogba v carroll with nando on the bench. The big fella loves a wembley final. Melbourne CFC

I am certain Drogba would prefer to play against King and Gallas as opposed to Skrtel and Agger. " You know it's True!"

Skrltle and agger should be able to cope with even drogba.
You just know all we are going to hear about between now and then is more Carroll vs Torres garbage.
Should be a close game but I feel Liverpool will edge it, we seem to be able to neutralise everything Chelsea throws at us.
Plus the players will be more pumped up to upset your fans after your semi.

Shelvey is not good enough to replace Gerrard. Honestley think about what your saying. Gerrard has been world class. So he needs to be replaced with a world class player. Which I'm afraid Shelvey isn't and will never be. I'm not saying he won't be a very good player, But world class? NOOO

Have been that, Mr. Henry is far from happy with the signings this season and the fact that Champions League football has not been achieved. This is the reasoning behind the sacking of Mr. Comolli.

Henry came to Liverpool to say how he feels, i.e. not happy and is wanting to get a new successor to do predominantly what Comolli was doing by May time which is why they are already looking.

They MAY also be looking a possible management replacements if they feel this is necessary, but I do not think they will.

The owners are looking for what they wanted last year also, which is young prospects both for the squad and first eleven, and ones that will not cost an arm and a leg (Neymar) and from other leagues. I have been told that we are looking in the Serie A, and the Primera Division is Uruguay and Argentina and also the main leagues in Europe and that targets have already been identified and work to get them has already begun, do not have any names apart from Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid is getting a lot of interest.

Ffs mate the eds are site moderators,there job is to filter out all the sh-te and try and keep these pages looking like somthing that resembles a football forum,and do a fine job into the bargain.they might not even support the team whos site they are moderating,and may or may not know any more info about club transfers than the average clued up fan walking down the street,but common sense and the power of deduction helped by certain forum posters that suggests are a bit closer to the club than most of us can go a long way to enable an ed to give an opinion which is prob nearer the mark than most of us .so i would suggest you look at your team determine were the weaknesses are balance that with young players coming through in that position +money that is availiable +players that are availiable +plus wages they might demand +will they want to come to your club +who may want to leave your club +the clubs ambitions are they short medium or long term,and after working all that out only to find out your managers clueless will prob narrow it down to a couple of thousand players.hope this helps you mate

I have a browse on this page every day and im seeing the same names come up time and time again. Liverpool season ticket holder and have literally been to the corners of the earth to watch the reds.

Ed's just ur opinion I have a lot of contacts in the club, former players mainly, and every player mentioned apart from soldado (who in my opnion wouldnt cut the prem) has not been mentioned EVER.....

What many people seem to forget on this forum is the premier league is the best league in the world by a far distance, only have to look at the wigan v arsenal to clarify that. And players who people want wont cut it in the prem.

KK was correct in the whole british talent was he was wrong with was the players.

Eds just really want your opinion on a few things 1st .

1. the english talent and is there really any good british talent out there?

2. Next season.

and finally 3. Do you have faith in Andy Carroll?

thanks, hope to get a response.

TFairclough
{Ed001's Note - 1. there isn't a lot of English talent, outside of the top few sides in the Prem, you have to drop down to the lower leagues for lads like Nick Powell of Crewe. The only other real English talent that stands out is Matty Phillips of Blackpool. Otherwise it is just big, thuggish lumps like Shawcross.
2. what about next season? That is a really vague question mate.
3. I have faith that he can be the best at what he does well. My issue is that he is not the type of player that is suited to us. Plus a big man up front always seems to entice players to hoof it towards him, which I hate. Doesn't matter how good a player they actually are with the ball at their feet, players get in pressure and just welly it in their general direction. I don't want us to go down that route.}

Totally agree with Ed001. To achieve sustained success and game on game consistency we need to play the Barca/Liverpool heyday way of pass and move and Carroll doesn't fit. Not the lads fault by the way. I do think his current good form is good for us in that clubs will be interested in the Summer.
kidmillions

I disagree and dont remember the hoof-it-upfield tactics when Toshack was at the club. AC definitely is a certain type of forward but he's not completely one-dimensional and gives us a different striking option when needed. I don't think he should be our first choice, however - if we get an Ian Rush type of striker, Andy could partner him or alternate with him depending on the tactics. Just my tuppence worth.

cozinoz

Shawcross is a good player. Very underrated. It's not all about skill and panache - character is one of the things we've been lacking for a while, especially when the chips have been down.

Hugh Pugh.

I think Adam Lallana also stands out

Toshacks all round ability was in a different league to Carroll.
kidmillions

Have to disagree with Eds 1,there's tons of British talent out there, 100s of youngsters in every city who are mad for it. For every Paul Scholes or Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard who are lucky enough to get spotted there are 10 who don't.I don't understand this yearning for all things foreign.Have you seen the England u21 suad in action recently?.When ''that lot'' win the league this season Scholes,Rooney.Giggs,Carrick.Jones,Ferdinand,Welbeck and Evans will have had more than a hand in it.Man city,Arsenal and Chelsea's league of nations teams can't compete with the best of British so i'm glad we are following Fergie's model.The talent is out there,lets find and develop it,but lets do it first !! just been reading through some of last nights posts edd's and they've left me very confused. I was under the impression that Comolli was just in charge of negotiating transfers and fees, but some of the ed's replies indicate he had an input with team selection and the way liverpool play. What else did he actually do?

Any info is much appriciated.

"My past is my past. I changed my lifestyle when I came to Liverpool and settled down. I love it here," he said.

"People will say to me 'Oh, you were in the boozer last week' but it is just rumours going round.

"Now I just laugh it off. To be honest, I don't go out at all. All I do now is sit in the house with my girlfriend, chill out and watch movies."

- Andy Carroll

For those of his critics who wish he would stop partying every weekend and score some goals. Let's get behind him, eh? He could be immense for us with a bit of support.

cozinoz

As long as Andy knuckles down and works hard, he can achieve big things, but it is all up to him. I hope this summer he eases off on the number of holidays and festivals and thinks a little more about keeping in shape for pre-season.

I have personally seen the lad out in Liverpool. I can't print what he was doing in plain sight of the whole club, all I can say is that he could probably play 2 guitars at once. ;)

This is getting ridiculous. Statement from PFA chairman on BBC website in support of Ashley Young categorically stating he isn't a diver but blatantly and publicly bash Andy Carroll for diving!

The pfa chairman is a t**t.

Is it Clarke Carlisle? That divvy with a moaning, slow annoying voice? He's had enough of a say on Liverpool. I find it a bit patronising and cringeworthy when that lad sits on the question-time panel. Stick to football and stick to your role. Leave Liverpool alone.

DaveyBootle

Clarke Carlisle will never say anything bad about a black player, over the Evra affair he had no knowledge or facts of what went on, the video footage showed nothing yet he felt he could condemn Luis Suarez on every sports media outlet within hours, long before any evidence came out against him.

17 Apr 2012 06:32:22
i would just like to say what a great performance from wigan last night and also how impressed i was with young james mcarthur,i know we were linked with him last summer and i'd really like us to go for him or siggurdson who in my opinion are the 2 outstanding young midfielders in the premier league and are both ahead of shelvey,yes i'll acknowledge shelvey has talent but to me just because he plays for liverpool he seems to think he's 'made it' already where as these two young kids look hungry and determined.

How does it make sense that Comolli AND Kenny would have influence over the team selection on any given day? Does it mean now that Comolli is gone that Kenny will get more control over selection or will the new DoF have influence in the same way as Comolli? Kenny is proven to be an excellent manager. Why would he need any influence (in selection OR signings). Surely that is counter productive. Also Carroll will come good under Kenny (if Kenny is left alone to help him through). Maxi, Carroll, Suarez and Kenny to stay! I would be very upset if any of them left.

Hi good stuff ed's, on every day! Now not so much a rumour but a thought and was wondering if any1 else agrees.
I really dont think liverpool need a striker, liverpool need some very good MIDFIELDERS. Andy has had a piss poor season however that guy will get you 15-25 a season, if luis can be taught some manners he will also get 15-25 plus god knows how many assists, if we can manage to get some very good midfielders that team would do some serious damage. We have a very good defence and a very good attack we need a MIDFIELD!

Very good at hitting the post...

So next season? You want to rely on Carroll scoring the 20 to 30 goals we need from a centre forward. Even if Andy had a great season scoring 6 to 8 headers, which is lot of headers, plus 6 to 8 left footed strikes because don't forget he's also all left foot. That's probably the best you could expect from him, which is not enough.
kidmillions

AC scoring 20 goals, that's the joke of the week, maybe if he played in 200 games!.

Just compare him with Drogba, who is 10yrs older.
Occupied the entire defence against Spurs, while AC, well the less said the better.

No disrespect, but brendan rogers is managing a small club. We need a more experienced manager to replace kenny. Remember what happened last time when we appointed a mid table manager? We were in relegation battle.

Eds, I know this is a hard question for you to answer but why do we never seem to go for players such as jelavic?

in January, We were crying out for another striker who could put the ball in the net, and if not from our academy it would have to be someone new.

I dont understand why we never put offers in for players like jelavic or cisse who have scored frequently in the epl since jan... {Ed001's Note - because Jelavic is very similar to Carroll, we already have Carroll. As for Cisse, the ACON put other buyers off him, not good to lose a player in January.}

Plus I thought that Jelavic proved why he was only 5.5 mil. He seemed very limited to me, more so than Andy Carroll and if you watch the match who would you rather have? Carroll or Jelavic?

Because why panic buy for the only few strikers available in Jan, when we need a world class striker is more likely to come in the summer. Dont know about you but I hoping for a better buy than Jelavic for LFC to progress...

Jelavic has made a good impact at Everton but I very much doubt him maintaining it.
He's too limited.

Where did it say Comolli had an influence on team selection DP?

It was mentioned as part of the discussion over Maxi on the Rumours page- the post that went up at 21:12:07.

I'm not sure whether someone has posted this or not, but there is a pretty cool link on Tribalfootball with a video of the Liverpool game.

Thanks,

Hi eds, great site. I would really appreciate it if you could help me. I have never been to a football game and would like to get tickets for the fa cup final. Every site I look at want over £1000 for 2 tickets. How can I get 2 tickets at normal prices, kind regards, lee {Ed001's Note - you have very little chance for the FA Cup final, very few go to the fans anyway, large portions go to corporate sponsors.}

You buy a season ticket , follow the team through the qualifying rounds and if you're lucky enough you may qualify for a ticket. Either that or jump on the bandwagon and turn up with a wad of cash, pay silly money for a ticket from a tout/agency and deprive some poor kid who goes home & away of a cup final ticket. Toot Toot All aboard...

I paid £435 each for my tickets it will never be cheap mate its the FA CUP FINAL. You will be looking at around a thousand easy after VAT.

Sell a kidney mate, that will get u one........possibly. Sooty

I have been to every round of the f.a cup but can not get a ticket for final. I'm expecting I'm going to have to pay around £1200 for my tickets.
