I think everything is starting to take place and come together. the fluency and pace of our team, with the mentality and tactics that KK wants is coming into place nicely. 7 points from 12, when you consider that these came from Arsenal,everton and tottenham away, and man u at home i would have happily bit your hand off in return for that points return at the start of the season, seems fair and decent to me. We have a nice run in, for a cheeky 9 points hopefully, pick some points up at chelsea and man city and we will be well in the mix. Has anyone seen the christmas run in, its beutiful, deffo a good oppertunity to grasp some momentum and go into a strong position by January, where we will have some idea where we will be in the mix of things. I cant praise enrique highly enough, an absolute steal at 6 mil, with kelly at rb, we have a good mix of pace and defensive awareness, i honestly cannot remeber kelly ever having a bad game for us, he is VITAL to our sucess i believe.

Looking forward to Agger returning as well, when he plays well we play well. Gerrard back is a massive boost, henderson looked spledid in his cameo, adam was massive in the middle, downing put a few tidy balls in, he seems to be taking a little bit of time to settle into his stride but there has been flashes of his undeniable talent. Looking forward to us smashing norwich now, unlease carroll i say and watch him go.

also slot henderson in for lucas as hes susspended, gerrard can also play a bit deeper, he showed the discipline against man u. im still gutted we didnt convert the win, but most would have settled for a point neway, i feel like our luck is a changing, keep the faith boys, we are on the same points as man u were last season, plus we traditionally pick it up after jan and really hit the ground running. no big predictions but things are looking quite rosy. keep the faith boys! Just wanted to put my two pence worth in about yesterday and our season in general.
I think we have made a solid start to the season considering we have 6-7 first team players gelling into the team.
We have almost an average of 2 points per game over the 8 games which would put us on 76 points or thereabouts at the end of the season.....And if we can improve on this then that would mean almost certain champions league qualification.
We have played Stoke away,Everton away,Spurs away, Arsenal away and now United at home, 5 difficult games in our schedule.
We now have only two teams in the next eleven games which will be considered 50-50 games.....City and Chelsea.
If we beat most if not all of the teams we are expected to in the next few games then our season can be anything our squad wants it to be...
I would love a carling cup run so the game against Stoke is also important for our confidence this season.
We should have won yesterday and I was pleased with our performance but 2 things still worry me.... Our centre halfs and our ability to squander too many chances for my liking... yesterday being a case in point...
Would welcome any thoughts

Hey Ed

after seeing carols preformances so far i got me thinking had liverpool kept the fee in which torres was sold for quite would they have got carol for less than 35 million as i think Newcastle ripped you's right off i mean he's a good player but not 35 millions worth, what you think guys ?

Stephen

When you can spell his name come back. He will turn out to be class

Problem is spurs had a 25m bid turned down before we went in so he wasnt going to cost under that.DORSET RED

35 million was a lot of money some players are instant hits others take a bit of time to settle in that's just the way things are he is a quality player and in my opinion he will get better. We signed him for 5 years and I am not going to judge him this early I am going to get rid behind him and back him as he's wearing a shirt with a liver bird on it that's what counts. Torres on the other hand has a chelsea badge on his so I know where my loyalties lie Dan T

I don't know if we'd have got him for cheaper in the summer, that obviously depends on his form in the second half of the season. But I would say that I slightly question our seeming policy of buying so many young players. Yes, one side of the coin is that we are replacing the older players with younger ones, and getting a younger squad. But the step up in terms of quality from Sunderland or Newcastle to Liverpool has probably hindered the playing time of our young players. If Henderson was still at Sunderland, Carroll was still at Newcastle or Coates was still at Nacional, they'd probably all have played every game so far this season. It's good to be buying young players, but we must play them if they are to develop, and this might mean a drop in quality in the short term

Red Ollie

Hi you are spot on ,when we buy we have to make sure they are are ready for the first eleven immediatel,we are not good enough to carry a player untill he reaches his potential ie henderson.

16 Oct 2011 19:51:19
Noticed quite a few commenting on Henderson looking more like it! He's fighting for his place? result! improved display. It will be the same with Carroll: Improve or sit on the bench. Because of injuries Kenny hasn't been able to make getting in to the 11 as competitive as he would of liked, but now with everyone fit. It's fiercely competitive and we will just keep getting better and better because of it.
kidmillions

Mate couldnt agrre more well said , now we have competition for places gone are the days when liverpool players took for granted that they would start, so now the team will carry on improving massively and i think the first team to tsake a proper hiding will be nowrwhich this weekend.

Rafa Benitez

Hero to Zero...or is he?

Rafa Benitez plans LFC return.

I'd love to have him back, with proper owners and money he is the only manager truly capable of winning the league with us.

EM

Mate seriously get a grip Kenny over Rafael any day.

Quigz23

Are you forgetting that we have Kenny Daglish? i wouldnt swap him for anyone.

Conor

Love the bloke but his time was up he got it wrong towards the end which is why the decision to replace him was correct. I'd have no problem with him having a role with the club but never the manager for me.

Chris in Tamworth

Can anyone tell me where this has come from is this a quote or what cheers Dan T

Actually I made it up lol. I mean once Kenny retires.

EM

I agree with Chris, I love the guy and would love him at the club but not as amnager he became unraveled towards the end -McMenemy

I will Welcome Rafa One CL and 1 final. If Rafa win that Final then he will be in Liverpool legent list. I think rafa learn lots of thing more he will be more good manager in future

Mixed feelings about Rafa. Thanks for the most amazing memory in recent Liverpool history, something to tell the grandkids. BUT, how could he really justify replacing Alonso with Gareth Barry. My head hurts still thinking about it. That was the beginning of the end of his reign.

just want to say hendo looks a different animal operating more central. looked better yesterday than he has done all season. that said id love to see SG behind AC with bellamy and suarez either side. very attacking i know but plenty of goals in that quartet. not looking to bad now considering we have been to the emirates been to white hart lane been to goodison. if we can take max points from our next 3 games we will be right in the thick of it. hope citeh stuff Man Utd next week. YNWA. Scarface

I'd love to see Hendo play a more central role in a few more games. It's more likely now that Kenny has a full squad to choose from and rotate a bit more. Yep, he was superb for the time he was on against utd on Saturday.

I'm not predicting any title wins for LFC, in fact I'd say the odds are more with City unless they slip up big time, BUT- remember that after 8 games we are now on 14 points, which seems very average this year.
But after 8 games last season we were on 6!

And guess who were on 14 points after 8 games last season? Our good friends Man Utd, that's who- and they went on to win it.

So they are all within reach, and all catchable- even City.
I'm not yet betting on us winning the title or even getting second, but we have as many points now as the eventual winners did at this point last season.
So you never know...

AC

Good point AC, we really need to close the gap over the next 10-15 games, cant let united or city out of our grasp!

Newcastle vs spuds 2-2 draw! Good result for us!

Magpies are a bit of a force so far this season.. I had them down for bottom three but they've proved me wrong...
I like Newcastle but hope they slip up soon haha

Anybody wanna chat about how good Liverpool was yesterday? Or the performance gerrard put in?
I thought our team would be able to cope without gerrard these days after the summer spending spree and some of the fantastic performances we have put in so far this year, but then gerrard comes back and shows us all why he is world class and takes us onto another level. He just makes the whole team click. I can see us having a good season.

MIKEY

Ye gerrard was imense yesterday, also henderson was soo much better in the centre than out on the right !

Conor

Got to agree on hendo, he is defo more suited in the centre, I cant see him starting in the centre for us yet but he was bought for the future so it's not a big deal. He is however great cover for gerrard, Adam and maybe Lucas incase of form or fitness, and cover for kuyt for the right sided position. A great young player to have in our squad. I don't think it will take him long to force his way into a regular spot in the first team. 16million will seem cheap for him in the near future

MIKEY

Well he may just get a chance to prove himself. Isnt Lucas suspended for one game because of getting a 5th yellow? So theres an open spot in CM. Hendo can use the opportunity to really prove himself.

LIV3RBIRD

Yes gerrard was gr8 but i liked the fact he played the full game.. couldnt believe it was lucas replaced and not him..

I see him taking Adam's position in the first team if/when we buy a right winger to replace kuyt. Then Adam will be the squad player to cover for hendo, gerrard and Lucas. Or maybe if Glen Johnson finally gets a game on the right side of midfield and if he is successful there we might see hendo play in the middle.

We should swap Carroll for Demba Ba, as his pacey athletic style would work better with Suarez.

Have some bloody faith. When Carroll starts knocking those goals, I hope you feel guilty.

Renegadered

I most certainly hope not.

maka

Right and if he fails to impress within 12 months then we swap him for Heskey? sounds good to me would love to see the legendary Emile back. Or maybe just maybe we could give Carroll a chance to settle and mature and then judge him?
RustyNigels

16 Oct 2011 17:08:54
We've heard that kuyt maybe leaving in summer and I don't want to get drawn into asking the eds who we will sign and asking how likely on a scale of 1-10 I really don't like that kind of thing, what I was thinking though was if kuyt was known to be leaving would it not be better to sign his replacement in January so he has time to adapt to the prem
And gel with the team
Before kuyt goes?

Ashy {Ed002's Note - The problem is that fewer players are available in January than in the summer.}

Whenever we are going to buy his replacement, we should buy the players in the bracket of higuain, benzema, cavani, lavezzi etc. Then our strike force will be lethal for many years to come with one of above, suarez, carroll and young morgan soon to replace bellamy in 2 years.

Abhi

To be honest I had completely forgot about the youth coming through and feel that it would be good to get them involved I think one or 2 would be ready to play the amount of games that they will get replacing kuyt, I don't think he will be used so often like last year. Save the cash and let Morgan or sterling come through the best way for them to get used to playing in the first team would be to throw them in at the deep end right?

16 Oct 2011 16:55:37
Got to be lot more clinical.Their keeper was their M.o.m.Hendo shouldve buried header

16 Oct 2011 16:52:11
Why on earth wasnt Bellamy at least introduced yesterday?Especially as Downing ineffective.Suarez on own v 4 at times

16 Oct 2011 16:50:08
Unlucky Y'day.Feel we need Centre half for now.Dobts over Skrtel.A playmaker_Modric type(Marin?).A R.Winger.But why on earth bring Bellamy back,and NOT use him? Especially as Downing poor!

Thought downing had some nice runs and crosses

No, we need a Right Winger and a Natural Finisher. Our defense will survive the season.

Henderson and Shelvey will both be playing perfectly by around January so they will hopefully solve the whole creative midfield dilemma.

We need a finisher, someone to bury in the chances we create. We need a 'Fowler', someone who can score from close range opportunities.

We also need a Right Winger. Until Jan, I think we should use Glen Johnson seeing as Kelly is performing so spectacularly at the RB.

Renegadered

Downing is completely invisible in 1 st half and couldn't link up well with either suarez or enrique.

But improved in the second half especially last 10 mins where he could have 2 assists provided kuyt and henderson buried their chances respectively.

Food for thought, if suarez called evra the n mord do you honestly think evra would have so nicely waited until the end of the game to put the accusations in.
Second of all suarez's english is defo not that good so he can use these slang racist words.
Third evra with a long history of accusation habit of anyone he feels is better than him should certainly be strongly punished because in 2011 as he said u can't just willy nilly go accusing people of racism and what a coincidence all these accusations by the same person. Suarez is a professional footballer who knows better than that who has been around and this is just to rock pool's boat BUT WRONG MANUtd we will come out stronger and clean, shame on you to use these dirty tactics.

I'm upset by the acusations of racism. I can only say that I have always respected and respect everybody. We are all the same. I go to the field with the maximum illusion of a little child who enjoys what he does, not to create conflicts. Suarez tweet. Smthy

16 Oct 2011 15:31:12
I don't think for a second that Luis Suarez said anything racist towards Evra. Can anyone remember a few years back when United lost at our place and Evra got into a fight with one of our groundsmen. The groundsman got the better of him so Evra accused him of being racist. It went to court and Evra was found to be lying and got fined. No chance did Suarez say anything, its Evra lying again. In my eyes Evra is already scum for doing it in the past. Give it a few weeks and he'll be found to have done the same again.

Morgan7

Evra was not found to be "lying" in the incident at Stamford Bridge. There wasn't enough evidence to prove that he was right. There's a big difference.

Matthew...

Morgan7 - We have discussed that episode on here and I think that if it is found that the accusation is false then Evra should be kicked out of the game. You cannot have players making these accusations. The problem is this will always be on Suarez' record now as mud sticks and unfortunately when you are accused of this you generally considered guilty until proven innocent.

JRG

And IF found guilty of racism should suarez be kicked out if the game like you said evera should if he's found guilty of lying?

No because if it is found that Suarez did not racially abuse Evra then it will not be the first time that Evra has falsely accused someone of this.

JRG

16 Oct 2011 14:40:18
Can we put a stop to this Evra S***e? This is what that rat wants. Let him go and play in Spain and put up with the vile chanting, see how he likes it then. Let the Mancs discuss this.

DaveyBootle

I agree this whole thing is just deflecting attention away from the fact that man utd came to play for a draw and came second best for most of the match they will be loving the fact that liverpool are making news for the wrong reasons rather than they were lucky to get away with a draw deflection tactics from ferguson not sure about the racism if it happened it should be punished cant see it been proved but all fergusons remarks about saurez diving are just him trying to get there poor performance and our good one out of the headlines
giblet

16 Oct 2011 13:53:56
eds can i ask you a question what evidence will they try use to prove saurez is guilty statements from fans or tv replays or do they get quallified lip readers n to watch footage of the alleged incidents just wondered how they try to prove the charge against him is there just evra alleging it or fans that overheard this as well

16 Oct 2011 14:12:23
On Match of the Day SAF said 'Suarez dives all over the place' in his post-match interview.
Those comments were miraculously edited out of the Sunday morning version. My question is " Did SAF already know about or have any part in the reporting of the 'alleged' racism incident when he made the diving accusation about Suarez?" If the answer is Yes I will assume that SAF has clearly embarked on a course of action to discredit Suarez with not one - but two accusations.
MidsRed

This belongs on the conspiracy page mate!

But yes I do agree I am disgusted with United and I think that if the accusations were true then Evra would of made more of a fuss at the time.

16 Oct 2011 12:42:46
If luis is found innocent i hope evra gets a year ban. Im tired of people always using the race card. Its bloody ridiculous.
Capetownred

Racial abuse is a severe offence and should be treated with serious punishment as is and should false allegations of the same.

16 Oct 2011 12:42:17
Hi eds, how long would it take for the whole Suarez/evra thing to be sorted out? I seriously don't think Suarez said anything racial at all but if (big if) we are to lose him for 3 matches would it not be best to lose him for the next 3 games as they are the 3 newly promoted clubs I believe and hopefully we could battle through without him

Ashy {Ed001's Note - the FA have the fast track disciplinary system in place now, it should be dealt with in the next couple of weeks I would expect. Though you can never tell with the FA.}

Here's the chance to pick up 9 points and get ahead a bit.

Ed i just saw off another site that apparently in uraguay and a few other south american countries the word "negro" actually means mate. Therefore i wonder if this may have been a misunderstanding between evra and suarez? PLease post as i think it is quite an important point {Ed002's Note - Rubbish.}

Lol wtf? fail

Ed it is not rubbish and actually go and check it before making stupid comments like that. Go on check then come back with a response. I know because my family have lived in south america {Ed002's Note - Perhaps you might want to check on the word supposedly used. If guilty he deserves any punishment thrown at him. You are a cretin if you are coming to the defence of a racist by clutching at straws such as this. And now you have changed your story from reading this on another site to your family living in South America - just makes it more and more embarrassing doesn't it.}

All the post match talk should have been about how we had the s**te on the ropes and how in the second half we looked alot more like title contenders than they did but now its all about luis, personally i think its just minds games from the mancs trying to cover up and take attention away from the fact that at best for most of the game yesterday they were average. YNWA

TOMMY C

Actually Ed I used to live in Buenos Aires and yes, negro is a word often used for mate.

EM {Ed002's Note - And what word was used?}

You would say something like 'Hey mate' and in Spanish that can be 'hola negro'.

It's a slang term, it's instead of saying companero.

EM

Has Evra said what word was used Ed? Or are you using social networking sites for your info? I know your a fan! :-)

The Irish Rover {Ed001's Note - Evra has yet to mention what word he is complaining about, but it is in the referee's report.}

Allegedly used ed002!!!
Jason

Negro was apprently the word used.

EM {Ed001's Note - no, not negro.}

LOL no one uses the word negro, get a grip

Pardoe

Could he not of said amigo and evra habheard Differently? They sound similar

The word supposedly used was 'N****R'. If this is prooved to be true, then i wouldn't let Luis play for us ever again. If Evra is lying (again) he should be punished severely, by the FA. Evra cannot continue to accuse people of rascism, whenever he feels like it. But if Luis did say it, then i would sell him in January.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Is the referee's report available for anyone to see, or are they exclusively the preserve of the FA? On a slightly note, I find the fact that no one dares to mention the 'N' word all a bit humerous. I dare say your filters would knock it out anyway. Reminds me a bit of the old Mel Brook film 'Blazing Saddles'.

Redjinal {Ed002's Note - The referee's report itself is not in the public domain. And we would not allow the n word to be used.}

Yeah right blair, i guess u have grown too fond of the europa league coz no way in hell will we finish in the top4 if we sell suarez in jan.
Indian Buzzer

I would rather sell him then have to support a team that has an outspoken racist as its star. that being said i dont think for one minute luis said anything racist to evra.

It seems some people would still like a racist play for us? If any of our players was found guilty of racially abusing other players, then they should go

I don't think Luis did it, but if he did how will you feel about him? I wouldn't want a racist playing for us, no matter how good he is

Blair Mayne YNWA

If u think suarez didnt say anything, why r u even entertaining the thought of selling him whether he did it or not? Why cant u just wait for the FA decision? The thought of a liverpool team minus suarez is simply dreadful.
Indian Buzzer

I don't think he did do it Indian BUT what if he was found guilty, would you still applaud him? If Kenny said somthing racist, my feelings would be the same towards him.

Reading your 1st post, it looks like you wouldn't mind us having a racist playing for us, as long as we finish 4th. I hope i've read it wrong but that's what it looks like.

Like i said, I don't think he did say it. But like you said we'll have to wait for the FA report. And IF he is found guilty, get rid asap.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Hey Ed, do you know what potentailly will be Suarez's punishment if he is found guilty? {Ed002's Note - If they charge him and if he is found guilty he would likely face a 3 game ban.}

16 Oct 2011 11:33:48
Evra just trying to unsettle a player that can become the biggest star in the premier league. It should be taken in a positive light because this shows that they are afraid.

An FA statement read: "Referee Andre Marriner was made aware of an allegation at the end of the fixture and has reported this to the FA."

What's interesting is that it is clear that evera did not complain during match but suddenly woke up and made complaint after match.
My gut feeling is evera is playing this card again as he has done this previously.
My point is this is now time fergi and his thug brigade is put in his place.
After game fergi claimed suarez dived all over which is absolute non sense and it shows the level fergi can stoop to for getting attention away from his team selection and poor united performance.

I suggest again luis should sue fergi and evera for defemation for suggesting he is cheat by alleging he dived and he racially abused evera.

Enough is enough.fergi is a disgrace FACT.
That's why I loved rafa he gave fergi back 2 punches for 1 he took from him.
Red indian
Ps-following footage should be shown to fergi
1.ronoldo and nani doing symphony of diving.
2.roony diving to get united penalty againat arsenal to end their invicible run.
(I know downing dived and I am honest enough to say that was disgrace)

You need to learn how to spell. How can anyone take you seriously when you cant spell rooney what planet are you on.

Well if you wanna get on him for spelling then I should point out it's a name so it should begin with a capital R so Rooney is the correct spelling..

Actually Evra did say it to the ref in the game as you could clearly see him say something to the effect of he's calling him names, that was highlighted Kamara on sky

Suarez is our player, and deserves our support.
Innocent till proven guilty.
Evra is a prima donna anyway, just looking for attention again, not for the first time either!.

If the allegation is correct then suarez deserves what he gets fine or ban, there is no room for racism in the game! Had it been the other way around then this forum would be full in fans voicing anger and disgust all calling for banning the player in question & i think if were honest you'll agree?

Things get said,heatve moment.I mean Industrial language.fat,bald,gypo,all used yday.Where does it stop?Films mention N word all the time.By the people its meant to offend.Too much madeve everything nowadays.Irish,called Micks,Jocks,Woolys.P.c gone mad.And i do know N words meaning.All races have names for one another.Dosent make right.But what happened to"Sticks and Stones?" {Ed002's Note - I am afraid certain terms are unacceptable.}

Great performance yesterday, gutted we didn't win but in recent years we have beaten most top teams and acheived nothing for it, so to be honest, I'll take a point as long as we beat the smaller teams we WILL be up there this season.

Well in lads!

can't believe no one from liverpool has come out to defend Saurez over Ferguson's comments on match of the day in relation to suarez diving, he made comments about torres after the game same point last season and everyone slated hodgson for not stnading up for torres, think it is time for liverpool management tostand up and back there own players and play ferguson at own game.

KK just doesn;t want to go down to fergies level that's all, he plays these games all the time that are boring and degrading. hibsylfc

I've seen a video from a manker about Downing's dive. It looks bad from the angle shown (which it is supposed to do) but Vera's foot was very near Downing's knee so a picture from another angle might show that there was contact. Anyway, that is what started Vera's tantrums. I don't know if Suarez used the N word but he would have probably used the Dutch version which has KK instead GG as his English is not too good. It annoys me though that Vera's team-mate Anke gets away every match with foul language which is very easy to lip-read. As most of it is directed at referees I can't understand why he gets away with it.

I watched the match and in my opinion was the best performance since the beginning of the season. i do agree with somebodys batner that Suarez was tired. his performance was down compared to other games. I this he should have been sub after half time either be bellamy or Carol. He looked very tired. The good news is that our boys played much better than other games. I thing Adam played a lot better and his pace is improved. Downing played well the last ten minutes.Jose as always dominator of the left. Our defence line was much better. Overall we done well. It was unfurtunate not to score a couple more goals Kuyt Hendo and Suarez had a chance each.

Just wanna say I think that we deserved all 3 points yesterday. We just need to play like this wen we play the lower teams and we will be up there at the end of the year.
I think Enrique is a massive signing. Wat a player he is.
Also think Henderson shown glimpses of wat he is about.. I think he will turn good.

I was reading about the possible lengthy ban for starez if he was proven guilty.

If it can be proven, he shld be punished.

But what if he is proven innocent? Will evra get a lengthy ban then?

But even if evra gets banned, it won't be as great a loss to the mancs as a suarez ban wld be for us.

I mean, suarez is a world class player that any team in the world wld welcome while evra is a not-too-bad fullback who has clearly seen better days.

Still, if suarez is proven innocent, FA, pls do ur job. And I don't mean make a mess of things.

YNWA

It's pathetic by Evra, trying to divert the attention away from how poor he is. United should seriously look to invest in another LB as they have a shocking player on and off the pitch. I doubt Suarez racially abused him, but I can understand how annoying he would be, waving imaginary cards and mouthing off at every opportunity.

He can't be proved innocent. That would involve having a camera in Suarez' face throughout the match and showing that he didn't say anything that could be construed as racist. Evra's allegations will hang around as these things tend to do, and if they're false no one will know

After a bit of time to reflect on yesterday I think 4-points from Everton away and Man Utd at home from our last two games is not too bad considering they are two of our biggest games every season - I think most fans would have taken that before the matches as well as two very good performances?

On the Suarez/Evra incident - I think we need to be very careful what is written and should let the FA investigation run its course. The problem is mud sticks and even if Suarez is innocent this will always be used against Suarez. Whenever his disciplinary record is discussed it will always say 'accused of racism'. If Suarez is guilty then he will deserve whatever punishment the FA gives him but likewise if he is found innocent - and I mean innocent and not lack of evidence - then Evra should get the same punishment that Suarez would have received. I mentioned yesterday that Evra seemed wound up from the beginning and as someone has pointed out earlier this isn't the first time Evra has made this accusation.

It's a shame this incident has taken a bit of the shine away from a very good performance.

Anyone else thinking Kenny should have brought Andy & Bellamy for 10-15 minutes before the end of the match, they could have made a difference. With so many crosses into the box Andy might put something into the net. Suarez was tired (as was Lucas both returned to Liverpool on Thursday after so much traveling hours) & Downing also making way to the duo.
Kenny might been thinking not to disrupt the play as Man UTD were threatening to score after that equalizer.
But with that much quality & expensive players at the bench he should put them in the mix. Kenny must be confident of making changes at the right time!

Chopman.
{Ed001's Note - so you wanted to take a player, in Downing, off that was putting in the crosses, so that you could bring a player on to get on the end of the crosses he was putting in?}

Ed,bellamy can cross the ball! most of downings crosses were off target and low(well hip height) the best crosses during the game actually came from enrique and in 2nd place kelly! so i think downing could of come off! {Ed001's Note - I saw Downing put in a few good crosses.}

Rubbish, the two best crosses of the game were to Kuyt and Henderson, both by Downing and both in the last 5 to 10 minutes of the game.

Papa G

Downing did put in a few crosses but it was not the best performance from him. He should have have greater impact. I would have liked to see Bellamy and Carroll given a run....reckon Rio and his mates would have cracked if we had.
Iggypop

So ed001 thinking Bellamy can't put crosses into the box as good as Downing! I don't agree with you i didn't see much difference in them, most of Drowning's crosses have been so far very un-affective. Even Enrique is by far much doing a better job than Downing.

Chopman {Ed001's Note - you clearly haven't been watching the games I have, Bellamy offers a lot, but his crossing is not on a par with Downing's.}

My word is very much happen in playing time. if I think or say that in our team. the moment we score goal i say should bring carroll in as he help so much in corner time. man may score from a corner. after with in a minute that happen all my friend looking at me. I dont know why we just make 1 change after goal we should change player and kill some time too. stop the match too many time can help us. but man utd is lucky last 5/7 minute we are rocking.

Yes i saw maybe 2,but i also saw enrique deliver more and they was better! i like downing think hes good solid player and deserves starting 11 but we can change him,i think bellamy last 15 yesterday would of been good for us,there defence looked tired.

Bringing in Bellamy was not solemnly to make crosses but he has more pace and will be much more fresher then Downing & would be a more than a handful for Young Smalling.
We had Adam, Gerrard & Henderson who can put good balls to the box form any where on the field.

Chopman

I would say that Downing didn't have a great game, but he didn't stop. Enrique & Downing kept their right side busy the whole game. Smalling played really well against Downing, but it didn't stop Downing from trying. That's all you can ask.

can anybody explain to me why rio wasnt sent off? the foul on adams was a yellow which would of been his 2nd! the ref bottled it,if he had of sent him off hernandez would not of even been on the pitch to score!

After thinking about that all night....nope. I can't!
Iggypop

Thanks iggypop,i cant believe there hasnt been much said in press about it! he gave the foul so he seen it,adams was through and it could of been straight red with some refs,the picture on rios face said it all,he thought he was off for 2nd booking!

He should of been, but I think the ref was concerned that he might of got the decision wrong all together (which he didn't) and he felt pressured by how big the game is. If the game was modernised with video replays for the assistants they could be of mroe help and reduce the pressure on the referees and allow them to continue their jobs without the fear of mistakes

Cause he plays for Man Utd . End of

Ed is it not right that suarez can only speak a tiny bit of english therefore i would be very suprised if he even knew any racist words. What do you think on that ed?

{Ed006's Note - Very good point but Evra is known for playing the racism card on several occasions.}

Evra was having a go at Suarez for the whole game. Don't know what the "complaint" is but when I heard I thought it would be Suarez complaining about Evra! Pot calling the kettle black methinks!
Iggypop {Ed001's Note - careful Iggy, Evra will be accusing you next!}

Evra alwasy show angry attetude to the oposition player so a word may come out from any player on thouse time . as its a big match. {Ed009's Note - A big match is no excuse for racism I'm afraid, not that I believe for a second Suarez said it.}

I remember when Atletico got accused of racist chanting by the english press because their fans were all shouting "Kun, Kun" at Aguero. Sometimes things just get misconstrued through mistranslation. But I'd be surprised if one of the first English words Luis learned to say was the one that no-one is allowed to say.

One thing that i took from the game was that Danny Welbeck is actually much better than I have previously given him credit for. Really quick over the ground and hunts the ball down all the time.
Didn't misplace a pass that i can remember.
I Thought he was just getting an easy time because he was young but he was good against us. I reckon he was probably their best player all in all. Duckula

Good prospect but still some way to go. Touch let him down quite a few times.

He surprised me too. I don't know how tall he is but he plays a little like Adebayor. Long languid runs, good on the ball and surprisingly quick.

It'll be Rooney, Carroll, Bent and probably Welbeck that go next summer to the Euro's. Sturridge might have a chance too if he doesn't take Rooney or takes 5 strikers.

Congrats to the players today, even if the result is disappointing. Playing like we did against a Man Utd side is very promissing for the future. The only negative point with the game is the fact that KD used only one sub when he has Bellamy and Carroll on the bench and kuyt seems to be tired in the last 15 mins.Draw against Man Utd is not a bad result but draws in our future games against Norwich and Swansea will be bad results.

Suarez needs to do the following:

1). Get his solicitor to write to Evra making an an unreserved apology for the accusations.
2). Failure to get the above he should issue him with a lawsuit fir defamation of character.

As someone mentioned previously, lip Reading would not be sufficient or submitable evidence. This needs to happen ASAP and Evra then needs to be charged by the FA for bringing the game into disrepute.

Come on Luis get this sorted. Such accusations are nothing short of scandelous without evidence and I would suggest that Evra's future in the game should be called into question.

Its no coincidence that the complaint to the refs after the game was from BOTH Evra and yes youve guessed it... FERGIE!. Fergie knows that with Suarez we have a lethal marksman who can win LFC something. Gergie is trying every trick in the book, and I am sick of his constant cheating. How the queen ever bestowed the title Sir to a man who represents everything bad about sportmanship I will never know.

did anyone see suarez dancing in front of gerrard before the goal?

I mean in front of De Gea

Yeah, it was actually pretty funny. Probably to throw De Gea of the actual point of focus.

Suarez try to take focus of keeper that if the ball bounch back then he will going to score.

Anderson did it 3 times against arsenal..delighted to see it come back and bite them in the arse

Firstly let me just say I don't condone racism of any sort and its not a trivial matter but some of the stuff that has been reported doesn't add up.

The accusations from Evra came to light from an interview French media organisation Canal. It REPORTEDLY stated that EVRA said " There are cameras, and you can see him say a certain word to me at least ten times¦ No place for that in 2011³ “ Patrice Evra.

1. Why if you were determined to bring someone who racially insulted you to account would you choose a interview with a foreign media TV channel? It is clear that during the corner when the "incident" took place that Evra mentioned it to the referee ( and this is probably what the FA are investigating).

So why not bring it up with the English media. Or the clubs involved - neither Fergie or KK were asked about it. And why wait until several hours later to report it to media.

Again I'm not saying its false just that it seems strange the way the accusation came out.

2. Evidence - the only evidence is video evidence and you are taking the judgement of lip-reading. This evidence is inconclusive and even if a lip reader claims that they think a racist term is used if this is the ONLY evidence it may not be enough. Lip readers have been known to get information wrong in murder cases and no one could use lip reading as SOLE evidence in court, there would have to be other evidence.

3. past history - Evra was given a ban of 4 matches following a brawl with Chelsea groundstaff, at which he states a racist remark was used. The FA determined that this could not be proven. Again showing that it is very difficult to prove unless either a you can hear it on audio, b. other witnesses state they heard it.

The problem that will come from all of this is while Suarez will always have critics for his alleged "diving, biting, card waving" until this is proven one way or other people will always attach it to him. I don't think the matter can be resolved with a handshake.

Anyone else agree?

D 2308

Agree Entirely. Luis should sue for deformation of character and include slur Alex for his comments about him diving all the time afetr the game.

Evera as expected from united player is behaving like a brat.
I watched the game on telly and evera was on it from start he wanted liverpool to attack kop end and gave refree a mouthful.

In the match on telly their was not a single time that it was shown that suarez had a go at evera infact if he used racist language why complaint was not lodged during the match with ref.
From what is being said evera and united after the match reported this.
Evera as a player was awful against barca and for last 2 season he has been poor.
I think he,some of united players or their person manger are trying to create a storm to get liverpool and suarez of game.

We all remember when torres was on form they shouted him down as cheat and diver.
This incident should be investigated and if suarez is found not gulity then liverpool and suarez should take evera to court over defemation.
If suarez is found guilty he should be punished harshly.

Hi Eds, just want to post this in the hope that someone will read it and think about what they are posting.
1. It doesn't half wind me up when you see "are we going to buy in January?" "Is [enter name] likely to sign?", especially when the eds have only just had the same question and responded. Seriously, it takes you longer to ask them than to just scroll down for a second and find your answer! I know the eds are very knowledgable but I tell you this, and not because I have an "inside source", but because I have a brain; No-one, not even Dalglish himself knows if we're going to buy anyone in January. Yes, he'll have a few players in his head, you can count on that but in terms of them coming into fruition is a different matter. It is very unlikely anyone will know who we are actually looking at yet. Late December, perhaps.
2. Questions popping up about what's going to happen when such-a-body retires or leaves, who's going to replace him, who are we signing etc. Just thought I'd give a few options of promoting from within, something Kenny likes to do and has proven that already, but a lot of you people forget this.
Carragher - Likely to retire I think, but we have Wisdom ready to come in as backup already I believe, also Stephen Sama looks to be a player Kenny likes.
Gerrard - The time is inevitably coming and we do need to buy I think, because we'll miss him dearly. We could call up someone in the next 2-3 years when he'll be ready to go/not at (far from) his best Jack Dunn looks a bit like a young Stevie in the U18's, Jonjo as well, an obvious choice and personally I think that's what he'll become.
striker, we need another becuase Kuyt's no finisher. Player? Adam Morgan, there you go.
Also we need a winger because at the minute we have Kuyt, Downing, Henderson and that's it really. Obviously Sterling's in there already, but Mark Pelosi looks a decent enough player as well, one for the future.
So signings, IMO we don't really need them. It would be really nice to see Morgan, Sterling and Coady get a few games this season (really disappointed not to see them feature against Exeter or Brighton) and I think youth is where it's at for LFC nowadays. Expect 2-3 signings every summer, perhaps another 1 in January if things aren't going well because we do seem to be focusing on youth and we do have a young group of lads.

Ed when was this alleged abuse of evra? Shurely this would hve been after because otherwise evra would have blown up on the pitch. I just can't imagine this happening ion this day and age in one of the biggest games in world football. Btw herbie you guys were lucky

Hey ed .. If Liverpool do get the 4th spot this season .. I'm pretty sure that the owners would likely spend some more money like they did this year..
Don't u think that Liverpool would then fall short on the FFP rulings?
And what are the rules of the FFP anyway?
Can u please explain in a little detail?

S.G.L. {Ed001's Note - basically the ruling is just designed to ensure clubs are not run at a loss any more, but as a proper business. Liverpool shouldn't fall foul of it, there is a plan in place, it must be remembered that European football would bring income with it. So that would bring an increased budget anyway. Also the ruling only asks for clubs to show willingness to improve their situation. Ed002 is much better at explaining this kind of thing than me.}

Where is ED002 when u need her/him

Hi Ed001,

I know its a bit off topic mate, but i was looking to get a tablet in the near future, just totally confusing deciding on which one. I was hoping for a little advice from a wise old man ;)

Jatt YNWA {Ed001's Note - first off, what is your budget and what screen size are you after?}

Hi Ed001,

I dont mind too much on screen size, i more intreseted in the OS i've heard so much about android vs IOS but can't find one completely objective view, and apps! apps are very important for those times of boredom in meeting rooms haha. Budget isn't a problem because i can get at cost price ;)

Jatt YNWA {Ed001's Note - Android have a greater choice of apps for free than iOS, plus there are more powerful Android tablets available than the iPads. iOs is a nice enough operating system and seems fast because it comes with nothing on it, forcing you to buy apps to do anything. Then you have iTunes, which is one of the worst pieces of software ever made, but you are stuck with it on an Apple product. I prefer the freedom of Android every time, add that to the fact that the iPad is just a bit of Samsung kit packaged in an Apple case and it puts me off. May as well just get a Samsung product, they don't sell their best bits, they save them for their own products. My suggestion would be to hang on a bit, there are a range of quad core processor tablets due to be released soon, better to pick up one of those, in my opinion.}

Thanks for the info mate, I've had an iphone since before the android phones starting to attract attention so never had the chance to own one. The open source is the major thing that is attracting, as with the iphone ive had to jailbreak to be able to do anything with it but this slows the whole OS down which is irritating.
The other thing is 3G, do you reckon the new tablets with quad core cpu will be 3g enabled, much rather have to carry just a tablet rather than tablet and phone :|. What do you reckon currently is the best tablet

Thanks for the help Ed001.

Jatt YNWA {Ed001's Note - the Galaxy Tab is 3g, the 7 inch screen one I used as a phone until recently. If you are willing to fiddle around with them, I would suggest one of those overclocked would be excellent. It will fit into the pocket of a pair of jeans just about, I don't think there is another tablet around that can do that. It is not the most powerful, but it works well as a phone if that is what you intend to use it as. I would still be using it if my daughter didn't love it so much and decided she wanted it!}

Liverpool Holywood Oscars awards,

The early nominations are:

Best actor in a leading role:

The leading nomination at this stage is Luis Suarez for his performance as a badly injured player at Goodison Park. His performance opposite the innocent player, Jack Rodwell and the supportive oaf, Martin Atkinson, was a thing of beauty. Al Pacino, please watch Suarez, you have alot to learn!

Best supporting actor:

So far, this is harder to call. However, it is clear that there are two actors leading the way. Charles Adam for his performance of "fall over Rio with little contact" and Dowling's somewhat embarrassing "fall over fresh air without yellow card" at Anfield today. Both are classic pieces of Anfield acting, but they need to develop their acting skills to the historic Anfield penalty areas to be considered for an award.

Best Referee in a supporting Liverpool Role:

This is becoming the most competitive award.

Still favorite is Martin Atkinson's "The sending off at Goodison". This is acting of the highest calibre. Atkinson and Suarez combined to mock the innocent Rodwell and Everton FC in this compasionate ref and "stricken" Liverpool player scene. It was a thing of beauty, and it is why Atkinson is regarded as one of our top UEFA actors.

Phil Dowd's "the failure to send off Carragher v United last year" is still an acting master-class. Confronted with a player with a horrendous injury to his shin, he "ignored" this injury, and "ignored" the fact that the assailant was Liverpool favorite, Jamie Carragher, at Anfield, and didn't send him off. Quite brilliant contemporary acting from Dowd!

Lastly, today's Andre Marriner's "free kick for Adam dive" was simple, but a beautifully executed piece of acting between a Liverpool player and referee, in front of an adoring audience. Andre is now a firm favorite with all fans of Liverpool actors, and rightly so.

Sir Alex x

And a special award goes to alex x , for acting like a utd fan , when we all know hes not lol.........lfc

Sir alex u need to get laid son...

Lfc

Now, let me start by saying, let the best team win..as long as its UNITED ALWAYS AND FOREVER (HERBIE..DO YA HEAR ME! LOL).

I must confess I love Everton twice a year..when they play Liverpool home and away.

I have had comments that I'm an Everton supporter.
Is it because I let slip I prefer Everton (non-breakaway classy club) to the horrible corporate greed of league breakaway and wannabee top 4 but never will acheive it club Liverpool?

Sir Alex x

In all honesty mate, you have the worlds biggest diver in your team, bar none- and you know it.

Nanny is not just a diver of supreme talent, but also the biggest cry baby in the PL. After Carra's tackle last season he got up, ran to the ref, and THEN collapsed in a tearful heap. Disgusting.

Any english side should be ashamed to have that man in their team. At least Suarez is man enough to bite and fight when he is fouled- Nanny just cries.

I'm sorry, I do enjoy the humour in your posts normally, but to single out Suarez and yet not mention Evra and Nanny is rank hypocrisy.
And you know it.

Sir Alex is a disgrace. Sore loser who brings a stain to which ever club he supports.

Tactial genius masterstroke award.

Nominations are -

1. Fergie for "lets manmark Adam to stop Liverpool passing. You up for it Jonesy"

2. David Moyes for "we dont do strikers, midfield players up top will do."

Pick your favourite Sir Alex of the two clubs you support.

And the loser is ....

One more question ed please one fan said evra expects action to be taken against the Suarez thing, can it be done post match? How can it be proven? I think if nothing was done on the pitch to the ref it will be like in nursery he said and is said .... Ed your input please I need an answer thanks. Hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - it is a difficult thing to prove, I think this will end up in a public handshake between the two personally.}

Thank you for the prompt answer ed I was waiting for your answer I really don't see Suarez doing a silly thing like that especially with kk in charge who is strict with the players.hibsylfc

16 Oct 2011 00:38:16
Ed wasn't there an incident some time back during a warm down at Stamford Bridge regarding Evra and groundstaff regarding racist comments? Has he used this before?

Spriggo {Ed001's Note - yes, he was found guilty of misconduct. Though that was for the fight, not for anything to do with the accusation. As for the Finnan case that was referred to earlier, that was a deaf fan who complained, not Evra, who said he had heard no racist remarks by Finnan.}

16 Oct 2011 00:28:12
Ed's... If (and that's a big IF) Suarez did make racial comments towards Patrice, what would be the likely punishment? How many games would he be likely to miss? I know it's based on guesswork, but any answer would be appreciated.

Thanks, James. {Ed001's Note - my guess would be a 3 month ban, plus being ordered to work with football in the community.}

If he does get a lengthy ban, lets say goodbye to top4 now itself.
Indian Buzzer

16 Oct 2011 00:28:08
Will Suarez get a long ban for the abuse agaisnt Evra, if he did do it thats bad but Evra has lied on this situation 2 times before....whats the news ed's we in any trouble? {Ed001's Note - if found guilty, the FA would have to decide on the punishment, I don't believe it would be viewed as a standard issue. So the punishment could be almost anything, but a lengthy ban would be almost certain, the question is whether there would be other punishments on top of a ban, and whether they would be concurrent.}

16 Oct 2011 00:21:51
Hi ed001 if Suarez is found which I highly doubt will be the case, what is the punishment? I really do think the way evra was acting was very unsportmanship and the referee saw that too. Hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - I am not sure what the punishment would be, I would expect a lengthy ban though. It would be up to the FA to make a ruling on it, which could be almost anything, depending on who decides.}

15 Oct 2011 23:54:27
This whole Suarez saga is BS. You get a bitter United player accusing Suarez of racism with no proof to back it up. Unless he can prove hard evidence he should get the ban. If you try and accuse someone of a crime and they get found not guilty you get done for perverting the cause of justice. Well Mr Evra you better have some proof or you are a total disgrace who should face a lengthy ban. This is all from a player that has a history of winding up oponents himself as well as courting controversy fir his attitude issues at National level. {Ed001's Note - let's just wait and see, he does seem to think that it was clear, if so we will soon hear from lip readers around the country whether he was right or not.}

Its a good job there were no cameras at the daughters where i watched with son in law,we would be in altcar now,with the names we were calling evra,nothing racist mind,jimmybosun,ps he should be glad luis didnt bite his throat,
