Sounds like Lallana struggling for weekend then . Few rags saying he needs a scan. If he needs a scan eds then more than likely he has an issue and won't make Saturdays game right?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - How can I possibly answer that?}

16 Nov 2016 22:10:57
Tbh mate. I don't no. It does sound a bit mixed up. I guess I just don't want one of our best performers missing injured all because of some pointless freindly. Suppose I need to wait and see what happens.

17 Nov 2016 04:12:47
wait for the club's assessment mate, that's the best one.

16 Nov 2016 20:31:29
Out of all the players to play against Liverpool who was the one you most detested? I would have to say Rooney.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

16 Nov 2016 20:49:06
All the utd squad.

16 Nov 2016 20:50:42
Tough one: probably someone like John Terry.

16 Nov 2016 21:00:33
Raheem Sterling would be up there for me.

16 Nov 2016 21:14:53
Every United player since 1992.

16 Nov 2016 21:31:19
Evra and Terry.

16 Nov 2016 21:46:50
Bryan Robson closely followed by Paul Scholes . detest isn't a strong enough word for Fergie.

16 Nov 2016 21:32:52
Every Utd player ever, but in particular, G Neville and Cristiano Ronaldo, followed by Giggs, Scholes, P Neville, Ferdinand, etc.

16 Nov 2016 21:53:42
Gary Nev, Evra, Rooney and now the player I can't stand is Valencia.

16 Nov 2016 22:02:29
It's got to be Fellaini. Hate him.

16 Nov 2016 22:11:51
Clinton Morrison. Followed by Lee Bowyer.

16 Nov 2016 22:23:08
Can't stand Mirallas, Jack Wilshere and Coquelin but surely the yard dog Fellani is the worst of the bunch.

16 Nov 2016 22:32:21
De gea because he Always plays well against us. Haha.

16 Nov 2016 22:23:08
Can't stand Mirallas, Jack Wilshere and Coquelin but surely the yard dog Fellani is the worst of the bunch.

{Ed025's Note - i see a bit of a pattern developing here guys...its definitely a united thing...the green eye of the little yellow god comes to mind, i actually liked watching united in their pomp, whats not to like about attractive attack minded free flowing attacking football?...and you call everton supporters bitter.. :)

16 Nov 2016 22:44:01
Olsen (wba) fellaini herrera RVP, mirallas, shawcross, vardy basically all those mardy little cowards that deliberately look to injure opponents whether it's stamps, elbows and other dark arts. There's lots others no doubt that I've currently forgotten but you get the picture.

16 Nov 2016 22:46:53
Dwight Gayle.

16 Nov 2016 22:51:23
Lucas Neill.

16 Nov 2016 23:02:36
El hadji Diouf = dog.

16 Nov 2016 23:06:57
Fellaini
Joey Barton
Diouf

And once Funes Mori plays against us again after thumping his badge following his season ending tackle on Origi, I'll add him to the list.

16 Nov 2016 23:26:21
C'mon people, surely it can only be Garry Neville?

16 Nov 2016 23:28:15
Fergie for me.
When we weren't doing that well he used to say that the Arsenal or Chelsea games were more important, just to get at us.

Gary Neville who for all his faults strikes me as an honest lad has said since that was all bulls? t and that the games against us were the most important games of any season.
Fergie is a nasty piece of work.

16 Nov 2016 23:34:39
Shawcross, the guy is a thug. Has nothing to do with his ties to United either, he's just an out and out thug, much like Maroane Fluffyhead.

17 Nov 2016 00:51:53
RVP. had such a subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) unsportsman-like behaviour and loved to complain.

Evra was also a piece of waste.

Maroane is tolerable purely for the fact that plays dirty football because he hasn't figured out how to play actual football which is hilarious.

17 Nov 2016 01:19:06
Drogba - just an absolute nightmare, and kept me on edge for about two hours before and after the game.

17 Nov 2016 04:03:33
Me, that Newcastle defender, whom I forgot his name. Reina was sent off in that game. I think he plays for Leicester now. Simpson.

16 Nov 2016 22:59:36
Ed 25,
Green eyed monsters? Why on earth would we be jealous of a club that employs a sound engineer to ramp up the atmosphere. Be jealous of a team that moves season ticket holders in order to create a singing section. Send out letters to season ticket holders complaining that the fans don't get behind the team enough. Support a club that has floated on the stock exchange twice, a big factor in funding the recent success. An institution.

Green eyed monster? I'd rather support warrington town

šŸ˜‚.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know why myself nicky!, but there does seem to be an obsession by liverpool fans towards united and a hatred that seems unhealthy to me, im not saying its one sided as united fans can be as bad at times but maybe if you win the title it might change mate..

16 Nov 2016 23:22:40
Utd have been entertaining in the past, Ed25 (about 8 years ago) but that doesn't stop the players being a foul bunch.
Having said that, i love seeing Costa having decisions go against him and I've been meaning for years to get a screensaver of John Terry sobbing.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know about a foul bunch annie, liverpool have had their share of unsavoury characters in the past though, i remember the likes of souness, smith, case and co who should have spent time in prison for what they committed on a football field mate.. :)

17 Nov 2016 07:30:49
Costa right up there in that he could stamp on any of our players at any time because he's an absolutely reclusive man.
Controversial one, but I was quite fond of Gary Neville, in a way- one club man, became captain, very good defensively- with Neville I would say you are blinded by the fact he played for united if you hate him.

17 Nov 2016 08:10:26
I want to say my support for Liverpool isn't defined by hatred of anyone, and yet I remember instinctively disliking utd before I was a Liverpool fan, and that was well before Fergie.
I went to school in Manchester and have worked in both cities, one comes to realise that Liverpool and Manchester are like two brothers that don't get on.
G. Neville and Scholes were great players for whom I have respect. The players I loathe are the thug Fellaini, who should be sent off in the pre match warm up, Costa the poisonous wind up merchant and Bowyer, who seemed to be just a twiglet.

17 Nov 2016 08:14:07
arshavin and berbatov.

17 Nov 2016 08:24:03
Gary Neville is an interesting one, I hated him as a player but now working on punditry he is actually quite likeable. People should understand that he loves united as much as we love Liverpool so if I played for Liverpool I'd act like him towards united. But yeh anyway pretty much agree with any of the players listed above all rats šŸ˜‚.

17 Nov 2016 08:50:55
Sorry to go against the thread of hate but i think its pretty strong to hate people doing their job. let's say there were players i did not enjoy playing against us due to their sheer excellence but wouldn't go as far as saying i detested or hated them.

Cantona was one, that was just pure jealousy tho because i loved the way he played and wished we had bought him. Err then there was ronaldo, partly because of his imperious nature and he always stuffed us. But having seen the documentary on him i feel i understand his motivations a bit more and have sofened towards him a lot.

Funnily enough although i did not enjoy fergies taunts during the 90,s i actually liked a few of their players, namely andrew cole and dwight yorke. Haha sorry lads.

17 Nov 2016 09:53:23
Robbie Savage and Dennis Wise, absolutely zero talent.

17 Nov 2016 10:04:02
beachball is my worst enemy.

17 Nov 2016 11:18:26
I agree with the usuals (Terry, Costa, Feileini, etc. ), but for some reason, I utterly detest Ashley Williams. Gets on my last nerve, and always has that smug look on his face. Maybe something to do with his nasty comments on Suarez. Anyway, that's just me.

17 Nov 2016 13:31:49
Shocked this has had so many answers without anyone mentioining Shearer. Nice enough bloke nowadays, but during on the pitch he made Suarez and Costa look innocent!

17 Nov 2016 13:57:54
Not a player, but a manager for me, Mourinho, for the way he goes about things, the tactics he uses, blatantly instructing teams to waste time (Porto v Celtic Uefa Final, Liverpool v Chelsea 2014 spring to mind, fair play his tactics got him the results but doesn't mean u have to like the style) . His neverending crying of the "ghost goal", no it was a goal, the ref gave it, simple, and just the general way he winds others up always criticizing. To be fair i quite liked his Chelsea team 1st time round, it seems a long way off from the way he and his teams are now though.
Neville is a good shout just for the badge kissing moment alone but have to respect his passion and love for Utd and he is quite good with Carra on MNF.

17 Nov 2016 14:06:55
Demba Ba? Lol.

17 Nov 2016 14:08:21
Demba Ba was a slippery character! Lol.

17 Nov 2016 08:38:20
Rooney, Big Dunc and Fallaini for me. And Ed 025 if you don't understand the hatred that flows both way between Utd and Liverpool then you don't understand football. Nothing to do with envy just a local rivalry. If you asked Spurs fans it would be all Arsenal players, Celtic it would be all Rangers. That's football mate and I love it!

{Ed025's Note - i get the rivalry pip what i dont get is the hatred, there is enough hatred in this world without it ruining football mate, justifying by saying others do it just means there are more morons out there than expected..

17 Nov 2016 17:43:14
Managers are easier : Public Enemy # 1 = Mourinho followed by Warnock and Fat Scam.

17 Nov 2016 17:55:13
Can't believe so many people responded to this post.

Hatred really does bring people together.

I'd have gone with Drogba as a player I used to hate us playing against as he was a top forward in his prime and a nightmare to try and contain - certainly wouldn't say I hated 'him' though lol.

16 Nov 2016 18:19:26
One for eds002 probably, any info on the eight managers sleeping badly tonite, i really could do with a win at the bookies.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea what you are talking about.}

16 Nov 2016 20:32:45
Random!

16 Nov 2016 18:07:59
Whats the general opinion about Grujic?
Is he not as good as expected or do you (EDs) believe he will get enough games to keep the permit?

Love the site btw!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - far too soon to tell. He needs to get more time on the pitch before he can be judged. ANd thank you.}

17 Nov 2016 00:54:45
From the little we have seen, there is just something about him that really excites me.

17 Nov 2016 08:53:14
Think he needs to assert himself more on the field, he has bags of ability and the physical attributes to be truely excellent. Like ed1 says, just needs the time on the pitch to develop.

17 Nov 2016 16:49:23
The kid has talent and everything going for him from his size and yet genuine skill, vision and confidence to score. Long way to go yet before making a call but I reckon he could be big for us in a couple of years time.

16 Nov 2016 15:21:46
Hi eds hope you're well,

Just a question out of curiosity, with Gerrard coming back to England to live do you think he will train with Liverpool until he finds a suitable club or considers other options? Also if he did come and train would it have a good or bad effect on the squad, as I remember you said he was disruptive at times in his later years as a player so was just wondering if Klopp would think it was wise to have him on the training ground just before the busy festive fixture list.

Many thanks

Henlow red.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no idea, it really depends on what offers come his way.}

16 Nov 2016 16:42:27
Ive read that he has spoken to us about a roll within the club. Not sure I want him back in any capacity tbh.

16 Nov 2016 17:22:04
His time is gone as a player.

16 Nov 2016 18:24:13
I read somewhere that it is a role with the youth team he's been talking about. Might it, on the one hand be good for the youngsters to be working with Gerrard with regard confidence and learning from a player who has done so well during his career, (as he learns the ropes of coaching) but on the other hand his stature and reputation make it difficult for the other coaches to exert their influence and authority? Suppose it depends on if Stevie can accept being on the bottom rung and having to work and earn his way up the coaching ladder.
He can come help me with my u14s team, šŸ˜ that'll box his head in!

16 Nov 2016 18:28:39
If he does have a role with the club it should be very removed from the first team. I wouldn't be opposed to him doing some sessions with the under 18s midfielders and then shadowing some of Klopps sessions. A bit like what Henry was meant to be doing at Arsenal before he chose to be a dreadful pundit instead.

17 Nov 2016 00:03:39
Nah he should be out there bringing all the prospects to the club. Can you imagine a 15yr old sitting in his house with his mates and his bird expecting someone from the club to call and gerrard knocks on the dooršŸ˜Ž.

17 Nov 2016 08:56:26
I worry about his influence on the team dynamics if he comes back to play a role with the 1st team. Just don't think its a good idea tbh, he will be fondly remembered let's leave it at that. If he goes away and does his badges then comes in to learn from inglethorpe them fine.

16 Nov 2016 14:10:31
Will there be an update on lallana injury or are they waiting on swelling to go down 1st maybe before scans? Or are they already done?

Believable2 Unbelievable3

16 Nov 2016 16:35:24
I don't want to think about Lallana's swelling thank you.

16 Nov 2016 16:44:07
It looked like a muscular injury so from my experiences of muscular injuries there isn't swelling (? ) so I assume we'll either know soon or face an agonising wait to see if he's fit.

17 Nov 2016 00:01:53
Ed do you think Stevie returning is similair to when Shankly kept returning when he left?

{Ed001's Note - to a far lesser extent, possibly.}

18 Nov 2016 00:09:06
Better than swelling while thinking about Llalana Redbull!

16 Nov 2016 10:11:45
Alot of talk regarding Sturridge off elsewhere, yesterday it was West Ham and Stoke, today it's Spurs.

Obviously I hope this isn't true, to me he should be here atleast another season.

Eds should he go, would you expect us to get a replacement in? If he oes it'd leave us a little short especially with young Ings injured for a large period of time. Maybe a bit too early to talk about it as nothing is concrete.

Bare in mind personally I don't think he's going anywhere, but what do I know. Is he happy at the club?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't expect him to leave in January. If he did leave, yes I would expect a signing to replace him.}

16 Nov 2016 12:04:48
I think a move to Spurs would suit him and Spurs. Not a great one for us though unless we are massively remunerated for it which Levy doesn't have a great history of. Then again he did spend Ā£30 mil on Sissoko so based on that I'd say Ā£60 mil would be a fair price?

16 Nov 2016 13:38:13
It's up to the player but I'm sure he's not happy to be playing a bit part and Origi could make it more uncomfortable for Sturridge.

16 Nov 2016 14:44:44
Don't get me wrong if we got 60m for him I wouldn't moan and tbh these days it doesn't sound far fetched.

16 Nov 2016 15:28:41
I would be gutted if he goes, he is such a quality player. Really is one of the best strikers in the world. Even the great Pele thinks he is up there with the best. Keep hold of him if we can, but if we can't, I would want someone paying a hell of a lot.

16 Nov 2016 19:57:29
Nick I don't see a point in keeping a player that doesn't fit with the philosophy that Klopp has engrained in the squad. I think Sturridge is one of the best in the league but don't think he can utilise his talent in the current Liverpool team. he's one of my favourite players at the club but I think his time is up. In fairness he would thrive in most squads in the league and my biggest fear would be him coming back to bite us. I still think a summer move would be more likely.

Just my opinion.

16 Nov 2016 21:25:18
I doubt it will be more than Ā£20 million, probably around 15 .

16 Nov 2016 23:36:47
Does anyone else think that Origi has gone back a bit from last year?

I know he's been on the bench a lot but when he has come on he doesn't seem to have had the same impact on the games.
I know the team is doing better as a whole but I was expecting a bit more from him.

17 Nov 2016 08:51:28
You probably didn't watch Origi against Spurs.
I wouldn't mind if Sturridge goes to a team outside England. If it's an English team, it shouldn't be one of the strong competitors.
And I'm probably the only one that wouldn't want a replacement for him if he leaves, because of Origi. He showed last season that he's ready to step up.

16 Nov 2016 06:14:45
Dunno if this has been brought up or not recently but I want to ask for the opinion of the EDS and fellow reds about a simple question:

'Who do you think has been the most important player for our team this season so far and why? '

Personally I have to say it's Mane as he's been key to maximising Firmino and Couts through-balls with his off-the-ball running and his pace. Also, I feel like we don't have anyone else like him in the team right now so he's absolutely vital. Couts is the best player in our team imo but Mane is the most important for the team.

YNWA
Kopchu x.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - good question, I will go with Firmino as his workrate from the front sets the tone for the rest.}

16 Nov 2016 07:15:41
I think it's a case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. The entire team has played well and performed, worked for each other and got the results they have deserved. This is the most collective 'team' I can remember at our club for a long time - a good argument could be made that, individually, this is not the strongest team we've had in the past 15 years or son - but as a team it is easily one of the most cohesive.

To respond to your contention that Mane has been the most important Kopchu: what I would say is that he has injected a serious amount of pace into our attack that was lacking since Sterling was moved on. However Mane benefits from a very fluid, dynamic and hard-working attack and this attack, this quality, gives everybody more space to operate in. I think if you take any of these players out of the team we look a lesser team - but it's not because of there individual brilliance, rather how they function together as a cohesive unit and how that cohesion seems less fluid when they're absent.

16 Nov 2016 07:32:06
Great point well made Seano.

16 Nov 2016 07:27:31
It's a close one but I'd also go for Firmino. Matip is also up there for me but as is the the majority of the team right now lol.

{Ed025's Note - trust me...the most important entity is the manager, a lot of the players have been habitual under performers previously but klopp is making a massive massive impact, he could make oumar niasse look world class and i have to be honest its making me sick.. :)

16 Nov 2016 08:41:53
I'll go with Firmino. His movement/ work off the ball when we're in possession and when we're defending is absolutely superb.
His intelligence contributes massively to the fluidity of the front 3.and his pressing is key to defending and winning back the ball.

16 Nov 2016 09:08:40
Firmino, overwhelmingly. When he's in form and playing well, he's the cog that makes Coutinho and Mane play equally well. And when this trio is playing well with support from Lallana, Henderson and Can/ Wijnaldum, there's magical creativity, blistering speed, and sublime one touch passes that most teams can't cope with. Sure Matip and Lovren/ Lucas are vital parts too, but games are won by scoring more goals than the opposition, right? And in case you haven't noticed, our defense doesn't start at the back four. It starts way upfront with this attacking trio too.

I know the OP asked about a player, but i'll twist it a little bit and say that the MVP (most valuable player) for this team is actually a most valuable person - and that is Klopp, without a doubt. Given the youth of this team and given the length of his intended stay at LFC, I think we're all witnessing the beginning of not only a lasting legacy but possibly a dynasty. This year is absolutely crucial. Last year was his apprenticeship in the English game (two lost finals and a mid table finish), but this year he has to deliver, and so far it looks good. And I think this is the best year for him to win the title because Pep and Conte have to go through the same apprenticeship. And Wenger is just. Wenger. And Mourinho is being Mourinho once again.

16 Nov 2016 09:26:55
ra1969 - Spot on mate.

Klopp is indeed the most vital member at Liverpool and it's only the beinningg, a lot of great times to come, he's takingg us back to where we belong, most managers take quite some time to adapt to a new league/ team which is normal. Klopp however has hit the ground running, this is his first full season incharge and look at us, incredible how he's got the team playing. Somehow he is improving every player constantly I mean just for an example, Lallana, he's played a vital part this season, something we never saw before, this is all down to that Klopp effect.

16 Nov 2016 10:04:48
It's easy to say Bobby or matip as they have been ace. But for me Milner must take the plaudits. unbelievable how he has made the switch look effortless. An he's been brilliant in fact I'd say in the top 3 fullbacks in the league. I'm also impressed with wiji think next year when he's settled an used to us he will be scholes esque for us.

16 Nov 2016 10:12:27
Coutinho, Simply because of the position he plays and the responsibility he takes. He see more of the ball after Henderson. Firmino would still miss a handful of sitters up top. But when Coutinho has an off day we create next to nothing. He is the only player who could unlock any defense.
Opposition deploys a man to stop him says a lot about his quality.

16 Nov 2016 10:48:24
When was the last time we had this much choice. Just brilliant. From manager to every player in the squad. Fantastic feeling!

16 Nov 2016 13:05:11
Was going to praise Milner too scouse_john. He's not been the greatest player but the stength of any team is based on its biggest weakness. Our biggest weakness has been left back for some time and Milner has been more than steady in this position.

16 Nov 2016 14:39:53
Milner is indeed a good shout. Overall I'm happy we have many great players who can be classed as up there. whether it be Milner, matip, firmino, coutinho or hendo all are playing brilliantly and will guide us to that title mark my words. I've had a bet put on and this squad will win it for me!

16 Nov 2016 14:47:20
I'd agree with anyone who said Firmino or Matip or Couts. All worthy choices.

However Klopp has done such a fantastic job improving players that there are a number that could be noted favourably. Whereas last season many would have scoffed at his choice, this season I think there could be a reasonable argument that Lallana might be considered one of the most important cogs. When he's on the pitch, there's a whole new level of intensity that seems to infectiously spread. And he's no longer a Cruyff and hustle' he's a player.

Klopp has emphasized 'team' and that's obvious in the variety of names pointed out thus far: almost half the regular squad. My brother-in-law is a ManU fan (poor sod) and he reluctantly says Liverpool is the best coached and most entertaining team anywhere at this moment in time. High praise considering the source.

16 Nov 2016 11:19:49
The way I look at it is which player would be most missed if they were injured and for me that's Mane. He's introduced pace and directness into our attack which was missing last year. After that would be Coutinho, every great team needs a genius who is a level above everyone else and he's ours, our attack would be a lot less dangerous without him. Firmino only gets fourth after Matip for me. It's not that he hasn't been brilliant but I think, thanks to Studge, we could afford to lose him without breaking our stride to much.

16 Nov 2016 08:32:18
Haha refreshing to hear your honesty ed25, admit it your a secret admirer. I agree with your assessment though. Rodgers had largly the same players and failed to make them into a team, and klopp came in and got that same group of players to 2 cup finals.

Alas they did not have enough belief in themselves to go all the way but one senses that there has been a change in their mental attitude this season and that has to be all down to klopp. And it will be down to his influence when we lift the title in may.

{Ed025's Note - im a massive klopp fan JB hes a breath of fresh air compared with the arseholes like mourinho, my only hope is that couts and firminho get poached by the bigger boys and the incredible sulk (sturridge) gets more game time and destroys the team spirit you have mate.. :)

16 Nov 2016 13:20:38
You're wrong Ed025.

Oumar Niasse IS world class.

Even under Hodgson he would excel!

{Ed025's Note - you obviously have not seen him zeddicus, hes as much use as a chocolate fire guard mate..

16 Nov 2016 21:26:28
The answer is . Milner.

16 Nov 2016 23:39:34
Lallana is the most improved player.

18 Nov 2016 00:27:45
Mane has added something different upfront we desperately lacked, firmino has been probably best on the pitch at setting tone from the front and ensuring we don't let the opposition any time on the ball (alongside Llalana), Milner has been a true champion to solve LB, Matip has been immense, and we shouldn't forget how Hendo has adapted brilliantly to create a really solid deep playmaker role that breaks down play and unleashes the attack quickly on any turnover. but

Most of these players were around under Rogers and looked nothing like the side they are now. Klopp established the system, style of play, the togetherness, confidence and sharpened the fitness and skills to get us where we are.

16 Nov 2016 01:12:30
Just watched the mannequin challenge goal celebration by England tonight and it dawned on me. That was what Benteke was doing every time he stepped out in a Liverpool shirt! If he'd told us maybe we wouldn't have got so annoyed!

Believable7 Unbelievable7

16 Nov 2016 07:17:45
Must av been benteke that disagreed with your post.
