cant see Sturridge starting tomorrow we don't have to go gung ho. firmino up top milner will come in it will be 4-1-4-1 . we are playing on the biggest pitch in the prem which makes it tiring to press if you don't get the press right, its about time all pitches were the same size but that's for another day.

another reason why its going to be close is even though man utd not been great all season they are still LUCKY and luck beats ability any day of the week.

if you ever watch man utd when playing at home 90 per cent of the time all they do is cross, cross, cross from the wings the reason for this is they play the PERCENTAGES when you cross a ball into the penalty box it either goes to a player of the home team or away team so its a 50-50 chance of a shot or header on goal, but the LUCK they have is the only thing that concerns me. best of luck lads!

17 Mar 2016 00:26:55
They've still beaten us on the three previous meetings, this is far from over. A goal for us is crucial for settling nerves, however an early one for them and they are in with a great shout.

17 Mar 2016 00:53:06
How is it 50-50 when crosses can go out for goal kicks, be over hit or the opposing player can foul a defending player. And as for the fact of a shot or header at goal. Deep crosses can be headed back across goal and then cleared

Nothing to worry about as there only threat in the air is Fellani and he won't score Thursday night.

I think Sturridge will start. A week off matches, big open pitch with them needing to come at us for the goals. Firmino, Coutinho and Llalanna making breaks with Sturridge advanced to pick up all the passes.

17 Mar 2016 06:58:05
Put the best first eleven out, which includes Sturridge, and smash them non-stop for 30 minutes. By then we'll have bagged a couple of goals so swap Sturridge and Firmino for a couple of defensive midfielders. Simples.

16 Mar 2016 21:16:57
Eds I have heard that Chelsea is looking to send Pato back to Brazil early and that it was a mistake to sign him. It's funny because I remember a number of people on here upset that we did not go for him.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Pato is not match fit. The Liverpool fans are obsessed with change - they don't care too much about such matters.}

16 Mar 2016 22:33:44
Haha brilliant another flop for chelsea it makes my day.

16 Mar 2016 23:01:44
Has he even played? Still seems strange when they have Costa remy falcao and that young lad Traore who looks a right player!

16 Mar 2016 23:37:55
You are wrong on this one mate, the vast majority certainly did not want hum.

16 Mar 2016 23:01:14
May seem an odd question but is there anything Chelsea could do to mitigate their loses?

Even if they can cancel his contract imagine they still would stand to take a fair hit financially?

Imagine being able to prove a player is unfit isn't as easy at it seems as is a bit subjective. Not like when mutu failed a drug test as is fairly definitive.

{Ed002's Note - I am not entirely sure what you mean. In simple terms thaey have taken a player on loan who is not yet 100% ready to use. It is far from ideal for the club.}

17 Mar 2016 00:23:53
A lot of us didn't want him here.

17 Mar 2016 09:17:02
Sorry worded that terribly. Basically believe it was Mutu who failed a drug test, had his contract cancelled and had to pay compensation to Chelsea.

Is there anything in contracts that would be similar if a player fails to maintain fitness?

Side note is his lack of fitness due to injury or laziness?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea why you have raised Mutu or what your point is, nor why you are talking about a Chelsea player on this page.}

16 Mar 2016 21:13:53
Luis Suarez. oh my.

Believable10 Unbelievable1

16 Mar 2016 21:33:50
I still cheer when he scores.

16 Mar 2016 21:49:05
Yes what a player he has become! I pray to god that if we get champions league football in the next few years we never draw Barcelona!

16 Mar 2016 22:14:29
Pah!

I'm not scared of Barcelona, we can thrash anyone on our day!

16 Mar 2016 22:31:51
That's a big IF mate 😂.

17 Mar 2016 00:29:19
With ron on this to be honest, the only reason english teams are rubbish in europe now is that they kiss everyones arse and get scared as soon as they come up against anybody of note.

Liverpool under rafa, chelsea in 2012, united in 2008, these teams didn't fear anybody and found a way to win.

Now we have arsenal and city flapping it in the round of 16 every year.

16 Mar 2016 21:08:56
Hey lads just got a quick question. anyone got any superstitions they have to do for game day? Because the day we beat city 3-0 I decided I wasn't going out the house and put on a pair of shorts my liverpool top and some long work socks and I didn't think anything of it until I realised my top wasn't going to get washed in time for Sunday so I took it out the pile and my shorts and socks and we beat palace so I decided to not wash any of it again for united and put it on Thursday and we won again now I'm at the point where I'm hiding it from the wife so she doesn't wash it because the sweat pulsates of me whilst watching us play.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

16 Mar 2016 22:48:26
Absolutely categorically convince myself i am not arsed about the game and that we are going to lose. Every time i even have any positive expectations for a game, we balls up.
Every time i'm not arsed, we win.

In fact, the 5-1 win against arsenal 2 years ago was the only liverpool game i really genuinly wasnt bothered about watching in my lifetime and had to drag myself out of the house to watch it.

17 Mar 2016 08:07:51
I am exactly the same as soon as I feel positive about a game we get beat and badly especially this season Watford palace at home west Bromwich at home I felt like we where going to smash them of the park I tend to stay away from. praising my team until after the game.

17 Mar 2016 08:25:20
At half time in Istanbul I thought my time was better spent elsewhere so went next door and tried the girlfriend's bra and panties on. And we all know what happened there!

I thought it was just a coincidence, but when Gerrard scored that belter against West Ham in the FA cup final I happened to be trying my nan's wig on for a laugh, and also when Klopp was announced as manager I happened to be on my stag do and the lads had made me wear a dress.

Anyway, later this year I'm booked in for the full op. Breast augmentation and the snip, the lot. This is all in the name of my club. The wife is a bit uncertain but she's a red too, so she's agreed.

Oh- and never refer to the team as Liverpool. Always COME ON REDMEN!

17 Mar 2016 09:10:30
Lol. that was awesome.

17 Mar 2016 09:43:14
It will be a comfortable win for one of the teams tonight.

16 Mar 2016 20:33:09
Been saying it for ages but I'll say it again, if man city and the entire football community think pep is the dogs do dars then they will be disappointed. Barcelona are better now and Bayern are worse.

What is all the hype about?

Believable10 Unbelievable2

16 Mar 2016 20:43:53
Had it pretty easy so far hasn't he.
Man city will be more of a challenge I think, they have the money but the team isn't dominant like bayern and Barcelona was back then.

16 Mar 2016 20:48:43
I'm really interested to see how he does but I don't understand how all the so called experts are so quick to label these guys as the best so quickly.

16 Mar 2016 20:49:41
Agreed. But we really need Bayern to do the job tonight. A good run for Juve in Europe could swing the coefficient towards Italy and it may be the case in two years only the top 3 in the premiership will qualify for the champions league.

16 Mar 2016 21:09:50
That's alright Shez9k in two years time we'll be winning the league, champions league double anyway 😊.

16 Mar 2016 21:10:46
I've always said this about pep.

The minute the Barcelona team he inherited started to drop back abit to Real Madrid he jumped ship.

He then picked one of the most dead cert teams to win the league every year other than Celtic (why he didn't pick them I don't know) .

Don't think he has really achieved anything to be honest.

Never the less its another big name manager in the premier league.

16 Mar 2016 23:03:01
I think it's gunna be the aura when he comes for city. Hey will respect him, players will want to sign for him and he will no doubt improve them, they can't get Much worse considering the money and talent they have.

16 Mar 2016 20:40:18
Absolutely. I have been hearing people gloating about the arrival of Pep. No Plan B against a quality opposition. He could have all the possession in the world. The style would be dispatched by West Ham and Stoke city.
He is Brendan Rodgers + World class players.

On another note, Moratta is absolute Gem while Pogna is the best CM in the world. Hands down. Technically perfect.

Thanks Eds.

17 Mar 2016 00:27:55
I think he will get a rude awakening on a windy, rainy night at Stoke.

17 Mar 2016 06:34:20
While I still think he is the best manager in the World, I don't like his habit of playing cat and mouse when his contracts are running out. This also strikes me as a bit of attention seeking. Sure, the Press plays a major part in it because they have to print what sells. But he unsettles teams when he announces he's leaving way before it's actually necessary to do so. He did it with Barcelona with his one year "rolling" contracts and then in the final year he left, and he is doing it again now with Bayern. And of course, he makes life difficult for the manager he is replacing, and unsettles the team he is joining because it's clear he will make wholesale changes due to his ideas and preferences. It's a sign of our times when the best managers rarely stay with a team beyond 2-3 years, even if they are very successful. Just like the players.

16 Mar 2016 17:45:09
Hey guys and eds, not really a related post but could yous like my new Facebook page, a tribute to the wonderful Joe Allen.
Also eds, what was up with the Henderson rumours? Cheers.

Nice one 007, good to keep tabs on the U21s!

16 Mar 2016 19:48:38
half time still 1-0 to liverpool.

16 Mar 2016 20:17:20
game on west ham were only going to score from a set piece and did so from a corner. flannagan went off at half time don't know what for.

16 Mar 2016 20:58:44
1-1 after 90 mins. extra time now being played, if still level after extra time then penalties. the winners will play hull in final .

16 Mar 2016 21:39:43
3-2 to west ham . skrtel sent off for two yellow cards in first period of extra time. ojo scored great goal to make it 2-2. west ham then scored straight from the kick off. it ended both sides with 10 men they had player sent off with only a minute to go.

16 Mar 2016 18:04:18
Ander Herrera has basically offered one of the reasons as to why they lost the first leg as being "the grass is better here" (Old Trafford) . Embarrassing.

Believable15 Unbelievable3

16 Mar 2016 18:46:43
the mind games have started joe, also prof van gaal thinks they can score 4 because they got through last time, us Liverpool fans are no way perfect but if Herrera really thinks they have the best fans in the country, he truly is deluded or deaf! . let's put them out of there misery 2morrow night, and force them to face up to reality. There press conferences truly belong on the comedy channel!

16 Mar 2016 19:01:02
Yeah compared to ours - which come across as a lot more humble - they make United seem stupid (which isn't particularly hard I know (just jesting boys steady on) ) . Predicting a 1-2 win for us tomorrow, though would take anything just to get through. YNWA Lad-o.

17 Mar 2016 09:18:55
What a twonk. He's been smokin the grass if he really believes that.

16 Mar 2016 17:54:40
What a day today 1977,Wed 26th March, when the whole ground was shaking, LFC V St Etieene, supersub strikes again, never to be forgotton.

Believable9 Unbelievable4

16 Mar 2016 19:01:15
don't wish to rain on your parade but todays date is 16 march . in fact todays date is same backwards i. e. 16/ 03/ 16.

16 Mar 2016 19:42:27
I think Alan50 suffered a typo there, 007. The St Ettiene match was 16th March, so as he said, 39 years ago today.

16 Mar 2016 20:49:19
Alan, I was in the Kop for that match, and the noise from the fans there was just out of this world, everyone standing and singing, I will never forget it .

16 Mar 2016 16:59:28
That time again already then guys, I assume you all must be feeling confident of going through to the next round?
I'm not going to produce any spoilers this time as I never know which United will show up, one where DDG isn't MOTM again would be a start tho. Good luck tmrw then lads, not too much mind 😉.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

16 Mar 2016 17:13:39
Fair play Welsh.
Hoping your game plan of needing to score plays into our game plan of counter attacking and we put away early chances 👍.

16 Mar 2016 19:06:11
The first goal will be CRITICAL. if we get it, utd get desperate and they get beat. if they get it, squeaky bum time.

16 Mar 2016 19:50:30
I think we are in for a fascinating game, can't call it personally, especially if United score an early goal.

17 Mar 2016 07:39:01
It will be a boring game, over on the first 30 mins as LFC trounce the Mancs 😎.

16 Mar 2016 16:43:38

Ed001, I think I'm right in saying you have little interest in the England team but I'd love to hear your opinions, especially on our defence and central midfield options.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - there is a Euro 2016 page on the main site where there has already been a bit of a discussion about it. Probably best to keep it on there mate.}

16 Mar 2016 14:42:28
Cheers Ed1.

{Ed001's Note - you are welcome mate, though I think I will regret putting up the link now Harry has found that page.....}

16 Mar 2016 14:49:18
Damn it, that's why we can't have nice things!

(Love you Harry)

16 Mar 2016 13:44:02
Hey Eds, this isn't about Liverpool but I don't think there's an England page so I thought I'd try posting here, I want to talk about England ahead of the Euros and thought Liverpool fans may want to air their views.

Right, we can complete the sentence above without earning the Ed's ire? ;-)

"Hi eds, i was watching" movies for men when I felt a strange stirring in my boxers. I've also noticed a few hairs appearing. Am i turning into a bear? I'm 11 and 3/ 4.

16 Mar 2016 13:32:34
No. i was discussing something more profound........

{Ed002's Note - Nonsense, you didn't mention anything of the sort. It is nothing to do with Liverpool.}

16 Mar 2016 13:41:31
"Hi eds, I was watching" you through your bathroom window, and I like what I see.

16 Mar 2016 15:40:18
Hi eds I was watching a hawk circle a field of lambs, is this a sign of the apocalypse?

16 Mar 2016 16:42:00

Morning ED01, your help if possible. I help coach an U11 boys football team and wondered if you knew any helpful books that are worth reading about coaching kids football?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - off the top of my head no, but I will ask some youth coaches. In the meantime it might be worth looking at the LFC training bible link on here. I posted it up and it is the handbook used by the club academies around the world, full of training drills etc. It is lengthy though but well worth a download to look at it properly and make it usable for your team.}

16 Mar 2016 11:12:11
Thank you very much ED01 I'll download it now. I have been told about a guy called David Clarke but you have to subscribe to get any info!

{Ed001's Note - I don't know him sorry. I would suggest getting yourself on LinkedIn and trying to get some contacts there who can help though.}

16 Mar 2016 12:19:38
Inverting the pyramid by Jonathan Wilson.

16 Mar 2016 12:23:29
Hey Mate, great place to start coaching. At there age it's drilling basic skills and the fundamental aspects of ball control etc, it's also when they start to really develop an understanding of how the game flows, how to read the game, the pitch, the opposition and most importantly their team mates.

Lots of good books that contain different drills and skill trading sessions, and there's hundreds out there with different titles but all contain pretty similar drills, for this most Youth Development Coaching books will have what you need, look for one with lots of diagrams and drawings/ pictures that you can then show your lads.

At this age it's about getting the information into them and being able to communicate it in a way they understand and enjoy, no point boring the witless as they won't take it in, let's Talk Soccer is a good read for this aspect.

Here's a few that if you can get your hands on are worth the time reading.
The Blueprint for Football series.
Legacy by James Kerr.
Inverting the pyramid by Jonathan Wilson
Make the ball roll by Ray Power
Developing Game intelligence by Horst Wein
Developing an Elite Coaching Philosophy by Tim Lees.

There's also countless resources for books or text documents from the different FA's around Europe that are easily available that contain the drills and systems of play, game management, player management, player development, fitness and prevention of injurys, these are available online or by contacting the FA directly, the German and Belgian text documents are unreal in there depth and explanation, they do cost a bit if you want it sent as a printed document as there thousands of pages and they charge for a computer to translate it to English before printing but if your serious it's well worth it.

Good Luck with it all, it's a great way to be a part of the game and you might find in a few years you can't live without it. I'm heading home in May, so if your about on here we can maybe try to catch up and I can give you a heap of stuff you might get a bit out of.

16 Mar 2016 13:24:05
Its posters like you, Jaxman, that keep me coming back to this site (as well as the Edwards, of course! ) .

:) :) :)

16 Mar 2016 13:45:13
Where is this training bible?

I've tried searching but can't see it anywhere, just people talking about it.

Cheers in advance.

{Ed033's Note - There is a link further up this page underneath the video

Liverpool Training Bible

16 Mar 2016 14:12:07
I already struggle to live without football (so my wife tells me anyway)!
The boys have done really well this year but were promoted a few weeks back into a division full of A Teams and we are named as a B Team! so before we even got chance to start playing them some of the boys got their heads down thinking they were going to get beat every week, and I know the result doesn't matter as much @ U11 but with the boys it's very different!
So i was looking @ trying to change it a little bit so they stay positive!
Anyway thank you very much JaxMan I'll hunt that information down.

{Ed001's Note - they will respond to your enthusiasm mate, building up their confidence doesn't have to come from training drills etc. The reason Leicester are winning is because they are more of a team than the rest, right now. Work on the teamwork, maybe arrange some trips for them to go on together, from days out to a theme park to going along to watch a local team play or anything. The point is they are together and the more they know each other the more relaxed they are playing together. Arrange a party for every birthday one of them has, things like that. If they are confident with each other they are more likely to try things and grow in confidence when something comes off.}

16 Mar 2016 14:20:09
There is a great book by Jim White, 'You'll get nothing with kids, fathers, sons and football. Not a training manual book but a great read and I think you will particularly enjoy it.

16 Mar 2016 14:47:09
another great read is falling off a cliff by Eileen Dover. great start but its all downhill from there.

16 Mar 2016 15:16:43
Slightly off topic but if you type in YouTube 'Barcelona kids'
You'll see a load of little ones doing some crazy ball control mate. Don't even think it's the academy or anything but those lads are like mini messi's.

16 Mar 2016 18:03:47
The fa licensed coaches club has some decent training drills for all ages. However, I implore you to make sure first and foremost the kids enjoy the training. My preference was for the emphasis on mini games were they get to improve their basic skills and confidence, mixed with situation based games where you can get them used to dealing with different scenarios. If you have to do drills where they take turns, make sure each kid has a football each. I took the advice from a couple of pro-coaches, one I met on a CPD course and one who is a friend of a friend. I learnt more listening to them for a couple of hours then I did in any book or the FA course.

I had to step back from involvement in my son's team as the other coach and some parents/ volunteers are far to bothered about the result rather than seeing the kids happy and learning/ improving not just as a team but as individuals. I can see the cracks starting to show and some parents realising the problem, they know I'm waiting in the wings when the people who run it either see sense or bugger off.

16 Mar 2016 09:14:57
What's people's thoughts on Origi and Ings for next season.
Origi looking promising last few games and one I think Klopp rates, could he push Sturridge and be our Number 1 striker.
Ings also was coming into his own before the injury and again is a player that suits Klopps system in high press, could be a useful player next season.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

16 Mar 2016 09:46:08
Not sure if Origi is as clinical as Sturridge just yet. He is young though and could be our main man up front in a couple of years.

16 Mar 2016 10:29:55
Massively looking forward to Ings return. Think he's perfect for Klopps style, just hope he suffers no long term effects of the injury like so many strikes before him. I think he's got a really promising future under this manager.

16 Mar 2016 10:48:10
Ings fit in well with Klopp style. He could certainly have a massive impact next season. Let's hope he come out from his injury nightmares and ease him slowly into the team.
I can't seen Origi replacing Sturridge. Origi looks more like Welbeck to me. Hard working player.

16 Mar 2016 11:01:38
Yes agree about Origi, not as clinical yet to start but got great qualities in his pace and how he presses could be a great asset next season along with Ings.
Some reports saying he could feature before the end of the season but hopefully they don't and give him the rest till pre season to get back up to speed.
Does anyone think we need another striker for if Sturridge was to get injured again, would you be happy with Origi and Ings, presuming Benteke had left?

{Ed002's Note - Klopp considers Firmino a striker as well. Liverpool is overloaded with strikers and only need three or four. Assuming Benteke, Yesil and Sinclair leave there will still be five. If Benteke leaves it is four.}

16 Mar 2016 11:30:48
I see Ings style of play a bit like Firmino as a striker, harassing their defence when not in possession, sharp movement and link up play, getting in the box and a bit of a poacher.

Ings upfront with Firmino and Llalana just behind would be a real handful for sides in possession, they wouldn't get a moments peace on the ball.

16 Mar 2016 11:32:57
Thanks for the reply Ed002
I agree I wouldn't buy another, I was happy with Origi and Ings, can't believe I forgot Firmino.
Things look rosey to me if we can keep them all fit.
With the Benteke situation, some reports saying if we sold him we would more than likely be in a situation where we would have to pay a percentage of his wage still.
Do you think this would be the case as clubs that would want him are maybe clubs at a lower wage structure and standing.?

{Ed002's Note - Don't get wrapped up in the money.}

16 Mar 2016 11:40:00
Fair point Ed, it only confuses me anyway haha.

16 Mar 2016 12:49:14
Ings can be to us what kevin philips is to Sunderland. I do believe he is 15-20 goal a season striker.

16 Mar 2016 12:53:28
Remember that game you played at school where it was 1vs1 and the person who scored stayed on? Basically that but with our strikers - play well and score, you get to stay on. If not, next guys turn!

16 Mar 2016 12:59:13
Ings I think will suit our play down to the ground.

Origi is showing promise but not ready to lead our front line just yet, where I believe ings could.

16 Mar 2016 13:00:10
Haha hjikle I loved that game, even though never stayed on long.

I remember that game too, Mr "named after cat's keyboard wanderings" ;) . I was great at it (in my memory, anyway, although I had a lot of time on the sidelines to daydream, lol)

If we can keep our main strikers fit, I would be very happy with Origi, Ings, Sturridge and Firmino, with Ojo pushing then too, as, as one poster said a few days ago, he has the "Michael Owen aged 17" pace to burn, which would be a great asset to have on the bench to come on against tiring legs.

Remember, due to injuries, we have yet to see what Ings and Origi can achieve - obviously we know what we're getting from Studge due to the (relatively) injury free 13/ 14 season. Therefore, we can't really tell whether they will work or not with Klopps preferred system of play. However, to my eye, they have both shown that they can be very effective in a Klopp team, so deserve to be given a fair crack in the team in pre-season and the first half of next season.

As I said, in my view, the most important thing wed can do with our strikers is understand the nature of their injuries, bring them back into the fold slowly and work with them to minimise the chance of further injuries. Given how Klopp has coaxed Studge back to fitness, I don't think we need to worry that he will rush anyone back and risk their longer term fitness.

Just been looking at klopps comments about Allan. (young Brazilian) . This lad looks good. but we can't get a permit for him yet. I'm puzzled as to why. anyone got any Answers? And maybe he'll be playing up front for us soon!

16 Mar 2016 16:56:57
Allan has played as a DLP and has shwon promise as a box-to-box midfielder too in his current loan, according to a few reports. He's only 19, so don't expect him to be in the first team very soon!

Work permit rules state (I think, please correct me if wrong, Eds! ) that a player (who is not an EU national) has to have played at least 75% of the competitive games for their country in the previous 2 years, and their country needs to be ranked in the top 70 in the world. Clearly, Brazil meet the ranking criteria, but Allan won't have played in the requisite number of games for the senior Brazil team given his age and relative inexperience.

However, the rules did change in the last year which mean that players within a top 10 country only need to have played for 30% of the competitive games, and there's a sliding scale (%age goes up as ranking goes down) . But still, Allan won't have met the criteria.

So, his case will be taken to an appeals panel which will take into account their wages, the standard of the league they have come from and their transfer fee.

Basically, anything that can help prove that Allan is a special talent that is worthy of an exception to the above rule will be taken into account, hence him being selected for Brazil U-20s recently will help to show that he is amongst the best 15-20 players for his age group in a country rated amongst the top-10 nations in the world.

Ed002 (I think) has said that Liverpool's case to the appeals panel is quite strong anyway, so hopefully we can see Allan pull on a red shirt for a competitive game in the near future.

As an aside, the rulings do mean that Premier League clubs end up paying a lot more for youngsters from outside the EU as it means we have to typically wait until they are established (and therefore are representing their country regularly) before being able to buy. Some clubs, like Chelsea, try to bypass this by working with clubs like Vitesse where they can buy a youngster and park them on loan until they either develop (and meet the international criteria) or don't, in which case they will typically still make a profit as they were bought so young, and therefore relatively cheaply.

I understand why we have the rule - to encourage more home grown players to get a chance - but we still allow EU players, which will hinder. IMO, the rules should be the same for all European Leagues so that we don't, unfairly, suffer.

Sermon over!

{Ed002's Note - Sorry Z this is light years from correct. The WP requirements have changed significantly. There will be no appeal at this time. Being called up to the U20 squad is encouraging but he will need a number of games under his belt. It may be possible for next season, it may not.

Premier league teams do not know more and Chelsea are not bypassing anything.

If you want the rules the same for all European leagues then say goodbye to all of the benefits the English sides get (massive financial benefits for example). Much of the rest of Europe want a level playing field and the English clubs are the ones against it.}

16 Mar 2016 17:25:05
Fair enough, my bad Ed002! Thanks for putting me right.

{Ed002's Note - Remind me to explain the revised rules over the weekend.}

16 Mar 2016 22:55:09
A fair playing field? Really? What about all th shady deals every other club outside England can get away with? 3rd party ownership, signing players under certain ages? Dodgy transfer fees? Paying with potato's (joke)

But seriously we dint have a huge financial advantage, for example ed has already stated in many occasion Bayern trump us and then there's Psg, Barca, both Madrid's, Valencia, Dortmund. They all throw the leagues money in our faces but were not really that much better off and we should pay more just Ti compete with Spain's weather!

16 Mar 2016 08:09:05
Hi Eds, Been reading some reports on one of our former players jay spearing and the terrible situation at Bolton. What is the "true" story there the sum of 100k seems paltry for FSG why not just write it off? I really like Jay thought he could be that bulldog in the midfield, the role though of that kind of midfielder has changed dramatically over the last 20years with technical ability so sort after these days. As always keep up the good work!

{Ed002's Note - The club are not going to simply write it off. However, it would not be unreasonable to expect Liverpool to understand the situation and defer the payment until the summer. It would get a little good publicity rather than what is happening right now.}

16 Mar 2016 10:32:10
i raised this the other day and everybody thought they should just defer it to the summer and let the lad play, we won't get it anyway as they won't play him at the moment. Nice to hear eds 2 agree, it must make some business sense!

16 Mar 2016 05:08:48
When was the last game where we scored directly from a corner? Seems ages. I recall Hyppia, Henchoz, Skrtel headers from days gone by, but can't remember the last headed goal from a corner. What are we doing differently/ badly?

Toure vs Villa.

16 Mar 2016 12:50:30
We all know that doesn't count though, that was like a training game. The ball came in, toure was beyond unmarked and didn't even have to attack it.

Honestly though, we never ever score from corners. Its a serious problem. For all his flaws, skrtel was excellent at it, but our current centre backs are woeful when it comes to headed goals.

Matip and hopefully subotic might be better.

16 Mar 2016 05:41:36
We are missing quality set piece and takers. The ball doesn't cross the first man marking.

16 Mar 2016 00:48:00
how much will Alan securing a u20 national spot help in Liverpool getting a work permit for him? is it still a long shot?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

16 Mar 2016 06:16:14
It will help, and Klopp is making positive noises about the kid.
Hoping he gets the decision both Klopp and Allan himself wants.

16 Mar 2016 09:01:53
I believe the battle was already half won. Him being in u20 Brazil definitely help alot. Now is just using his ability to convince the coaches to constantly pick him.

15 Mar 2016 23:42:03
Hi guys, particularly interested in Ed001s opinion on the Ian Ayre situ. He gets flack from us supporters constantly over either overpaying, or refusing to pay up for players, but how do you rate his performance as CEO? Will we end up missing him once he's moved on?

Apologies if this has been covered, I haven't been on in a few days, just ignore if so.

Ta

Super.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - he did well in some aspects, getting in sponsors etc and making the club more professional in its outlook. In terms of negotiations, he did struggle at times, but it was never his arena. He came from a business that worked on long drawn out negotiations, then was trying to adapt to getting them done quickly. He was getting better at it and took a lot of unfair criticism at times. Overall he did a decent job of establishing the club financially for the future.}

16 Mar 2016 10:46:51
somtimes it's better the devil you know isn't it. Looking from the outside it seems Woodward at Utd has dropped the ball since Gill left (that might be untrue it's just the impression I get from the papers) . Obviously Gill was top class in that role so was always going to be hard for them to replace.

16 Mar 2016 11:25:33
Who do you expect to get ian ayre's job, or who would you like to see get it?

{Ed002's Note - The club do not have a replacement in mind and will be looking for the best candidate.}

16 Mar 2016 05:44:42
Except couple of players in Konoplayanka and Sanchez or may be the latest Tex. I can't remember us missing out on any. Did we? He doesn't pick players. He could only present an offer which is practical From the club point of view.
Close to 40 players in 4 years is not a small thing at all.

16 Mar 2016 01:49:01
Feeling quite optimistic for the rest of the season. Our run in looks pretty good. Tottenham, Chelsea, Everton all at home. Swansea maybe trickiest away game, with perhaps Bournmouth final day not far from bottom 3. I think we can go unbeaten, maybe lose one at the most. Throw in a couple of draws and who knows what will happen to both Manc teams and West Ham above us. If city progress in the CL and West Ham in the FA, could be good for us.

74 points and Europa league champions 😎.

16 Mar 2016 09:32:14
There's a tool online that allows you to input scores for the rest of the season and it calculates the final standings (search premier league calculator) .

Anyway, for fun I had a go. I had us finishing 5th, 1 point behind man city. I was more than realistic with the results I went for too. Maybe pessimistic on a few.

Southampton away next week would be difficult.
