Great result, average preformance.will need to wake up a bit to beat utd Sunday .sturridge doesn't look right, since he had titty baby with mario over penalty .he needs to lift his game now .if we want top 4 our strikers need to hit ball on instinct.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

16 Mar 2015 23:32:42
I agree Sturridge didn't look great - but he still gave great assist to Henderson and also great pass to Sterling who had to score. But if we want to have any chance against United we have to massively improve our decision making in the last third - our passing, our crossing, our headers and our finishing.

16 Mar 2015 22:16:44
anyone else worried buy studge lack of form dosent even seem to have pace anymore and his touch is wofull

Believable5 Unbelievable5

16 Mar 2015 23:16:49
His touch will come, the problem he is having in my opinion is so often last year he was able to sit on the shoulder of the last defender while Suarez was occupying space and drawing the attention of other players. He was able to receive the ball ahead of him most of the time.

Now he is picking it up deep to his feet (which he did last year) more often and having to turn and run but he is surrounded by players as soon as he picks the ball up. You saw the benefits if him sitting on the shoulder when he scored the header against Burnley and the almost goal that hit the post this game.

Agree4 Disagree0

17 Mar 2015 01:10:22
It would help if we actually ever had players in and around the box other than Sturridge. He's a fine player but isn't going to score much playing against Swansea's back line plus Cork and Ki by himself.

We need Lucas back as he allows Henderson to push further forward. Lately the team is set up very defensively with more or less a back 5 and 2 wingbacks that are occasional attackers. We're simply not going to score many like that regardless of who is playing striker.

Agree4 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 22:16:29
Add a DoF to this equation and I'm sure we'll do more than fine. He's making everyone, including me, eat their words; Well Done Brendan.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

16 Mar 2015 22:15:27
Have to say no clue why Hendo was given man of the match. I thought he was one of our worse performers, with very little actually contributed in terms of attack or defence to be honest.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

17 Mar 2015 00:26:57
Mignolet by a country mile for me. Did everything right tonight and was the reason we are still in the race for Top 4

Agree3 Disagree0

17 Mar 2015 01:58:53
Just opinions at the end of the day, I thought Allen should have got it myself, although Mignolet came close too!

Good win, as for once we ground out a result, when we weren't playing particularly well! Bodes well for the future I think!

Agree4 Disagree1

17 Mar 2015 05:47:04
Mignolet, Allen and Skrtel were the best players for us yesterday IMO.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am not sure what Migs did so well? Or anyone for that matter. The whole team was poor, or was that your point, we were that bad those 3 were the best of a bad bunch? Migs kept booting the ball into touch or giving it to a defender under pressure. We were under no pressure from a Swansea side that play good football and work hard but lack any kind of quality to create goal chances, which is why they barely did anything.}

17 Mar 2015 08:54:13
Yep that's what I meant Ed001; even Henderson, Sakho and Emre Can had poor games and the ones that looked a level above the others (under-performing) were Allen, Skrtel and Migs. Migs did came off his line and dealt with the situation well on at least 3 occasions, and his short stopping was intelligent yesterday, pushing the 2 times he was tested out of the danger areas.

Mings was class at saving the ball from hitting the back of the net so yes he done well

Liverpool have acquired 32 out of 36 points in the last 12 games, 10 more than Chelsea. Doesn't it frustrate us fans when even with a weaker team we could have had a real title challenge if we had not messed about in September.
Great result, onto united

Believable13 Unbelievable1

17 Mar 2015 08:30:28
August, September, October and November more like

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Mar 2015 09:27:10
Messed about? You try for a system to suit the players you have.with so many new players that came in it was always going to take time would any of you played Can in a back 3 or turned a player bought as a fullback like Moreno was into a wingback, and don't forget Markovitch as a wingback when he was bought as an out and out winger. So its no wonder it has taken time

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Mar 2015 12:31:40
Players were bought to fit the system that we were playing the second half of last season, that was still proving very effective. And then he changed the system and was surprised that the new players struggled to settle. Yes, he messed around

Allen definitely my MOTM. Really composed throughout and showed flashes of skill.

Skrtel man of the match by a mile, Mingolet 2 very good saves and pretty safe all night, still scares me with the ball at his feet though, Joe Allen very good game and Sakho got better as game went on. Well done redmen, nice to win when not playing particularly well.

Agree3 Disagree3

16 Mar 2015 22:52:42
Most important thing for me was that the players actuall cared, took responsibility and got the job done. The coach can say and do whatever he wants BUT players have to care if they win or not or if they play well or not. I think BR gave them a talking to and their pride was hurt a bit to the point of turning it around in a big way. They shut Swansea down the whole second half (0 shots on goal) and though the goal was lucky, you have to bust a gut and be there to pounce on the mistake. N BTW, if Amat doesn`t stretch and takle the ball, Hendo is clean thru on goal. BR and the players get credit for turning it around and shutting them down both tactically and system-wise in the 2nd half.

Agree4 Disagree1

16 Mar 2015 22:54:13
N BTW, Allen had another monstous perf again. Lucas might find it hard to gt his spot back in the team. SG was also outstanding as his wise head and leadership allowed the players to settle down and pass the ball well.

Hats off to Allen and Sterling

And the rest of the lads good win. Missed first 40 as was at work but roll on utd

16 Mar 2015 22:07:46
What did sterling do to receive praise for ? Shocking end product yet again. The lad has an unbelievable turn of pace and a couple of tricks other than that I don't see a lot else. Credit to the defence and keeper for the clean sheet but the rest were average to scrap tonight.

Agree4 Disagree1

16 Mar 2015 22:24:35
Struggled first half, but there were some good performances from Skrtl & Allen, Migs that kept us in it. Hard away game against a form team. Still can't believe I'm saying Allen had a good game.

16 Mar 2015 22:55:55
Allen and SG along w/ Mingo and Sterling were outstanding. Studge had a decent game and meshed well with his teammates. Can showed that he is NOT a CB and Sahko was solid esp vs Gomis.

Agree0 Disagree3

16 Mar 2015 23:23:00
Sterling did well in the wing back position. let's all just believe the media hype about his contract and get on his back when no one bit him and the club knows. He did his job for the team so why not praise him instead of jumping on the bandwagon.

My motm aswel Mr Dennis. He is really starting to win me over.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 Mar 2015 23:54:05
Sterling did put it on a platter for Coutinho on one occasion, with a nice cut back, which should probably have been converted. I think part of the problem is we don't seem to get in the best positions in the box when someone beats a man down the flank.

Interesting fact With Gerrard 41% win without 100% win ratio.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

16 Mar 2015 15:55:37
Interestingly in what way?

I find it interesting that sky (where the stat has been on loop all day) manipulate stats to suit their angle.

We hit form in December and have got better since. Gerrard had an unfortunate injury during the run of form. Perhaps he was part of it, but more likely not, just coincidental.

Interesting stat ; liverpool lose 0% of games in years that end in 015 :-)

16 Mar 2015 16:30:42
On average, 13 people are killed each year by vending machines falling on them. Doesn't mean that vending machines are dangerous. Statistics can be misleading. Although, I haven't used a vending machine myself since I found this out, and I am currently still alive.

So, if we win tonight I make it 32 points from the last 36 available. A better start to the league and we'd be flying. Saw a few post ref the utd game, and I'm sure most would agree that we are favourites going in to the game next Sunday. Here's to hoping we don't let ourselves down tonight.

On a seperate note, the fantasy football brigade are relentless in speculating on who we might buy in the summer. Am I alone in thinking we have the best young squad in the league, and that we don't need to buy.

Migs has turned it around, partly due to the defense. We have options in all positions. Looks like we'll be offloading 2-4 players in the summer so maybe a marquee buy as that seems to be what is wanted by the modern fan. Other than that I feel the squad is in great shape. Discuss?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

16 Mar 2015 16:03:28
Pretty much spot on clarky, for me we need another top striker then just replace any 1st team players if they were to leave.

Hey lfc fans. I'm back after a short break!!

So arsenal an man utd continue to do well
As rubbish as man utd have played until yesterday they had the same amount if wins as liverpool, hard to believe but they have the forwards.

So do you guys think liverpool win games when the pressure is on them?

Or do u think liverpool win a lot easier when no media or pundit eyes are on them .

It's a very important 6 days for liverpools think it will determine where they finish.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

16 Mar 2015 16:17:05

When I sing at grounds I sing to support my players. It's pathetic that entire crowds would rather sing about opposition players (including when those players aren't even there and events that actually helped their rivals but didn't affect them) than their own.

Agree13 Disagree12

16 Mar 2015 15:59:23
Cannot believe 5 disagrees to that hjikle, thankfully our most prominent songs are indeed about the glorious times of liverpool and the best players we've had rather than singing about the opposition. Pathetic is absolutely the correct word.

Agree2 Disagree5

16 Mar 2015 17:22:47
The Kop have a long history of songs about opposition players that are based on humor, it's what helped make us famous! if you don't understand that then. are you from Liverpool? i don't mean that as a nasty comment, it's just understanding "scouse humor" and rivalry.

Agree4 Disagree1

16 Mar 2015 17:30:53
It was just friendly funny football banter which has been part of the Kop for many years, not to be sung at every game but the next home game against ManU, even Rooney was making fun of the situation.

Saw him twice and was impressed with his techique. Almost reminded me of a skinny Rambo with speed. Was always wondering though if he could take the next step. Had similar feelings regarding Le Tallec, whom I also saw as a great potential player.

Currently though Rossiter is the one I'm looking to most. (No comparison) Impressed with attitude and skill. Not convinced on the physical side

Just for anyone interested in Tiago Ilori's loan in France, a quick update.

He featured today in Bordeuax's 3-2 win over PSG. Ibrahimovic got both the goals for them - one a penalty.

I thought Ilori gave a good account of himself. He's certainly got potential, whether he will be realising that here or not is another matter. I think any relationship or trust between club and player may have already been damaged but who knows. Perhaps if he's brought back into the squad, used pre-season, made to feel wanted and has a sort of progression plan mapped out for him we may still see him yet.

Anyway, fingers crossed for tomorrow's game.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He has said he has gotten the occasional text message from the manager. He has also said a while back he was looking forward to a return to Liverpool. Real Sociedad would like to buy him.}

16 Mar 2015 08:15:02
Just some texts from BR Eds? Does he not ring the players or try and catch a game every now and then?
Is that the usual action from clubs when they send players away on loan or do some clubs and managers go watch their potential future stars?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Managers may occasionally see players but generally it is something undertaken by others. Each loan player from Chelsea has a liaison officer assigned (some are ex-players) who regularly see them, deal with any issues and report progress back to the club. For instance there was an issue with Lukaku and the club decided at the start of 2014 that he would be sold in the summer. His liaison tried very hard to reverse that decision, but to no avail. There was also a problem with a couple of players in the Netherlands and that resulted in the club having them get involved with spending sometime with the local community (schools and charities). In Italy I know that the clubs with a significant number of players on loan have regular contact and bring them back as a group for training on a couple of occasions mid-season. I am sure there will be someone at Liverpool keeping contact with the younger players on loan. In the case of Ojo there are legal responsibilities as he is still a child.}
