Sorry been AWOI (away w/o internet)
Who is this Badu? Seems to have just come out of the blue, is interest confirmed? And what does he play like and how well?

Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I typed ''Badu'' into the search box, it's quite the revolutionary feature, give it a try maybe? :) Anywho, this is what I posted on the lad a few weeks ago. Hope it helps a little.

02 Jan 2014 20:46:50
This is what i've read or, got from his records, I haven't actually seen the lad play, so I won't comment if he's good enough or not, so i'd ask for folks not to formulate too much of an opinion on this alone.

Middlesborough and Wolves turned the lad down when he had trials there in 2009, then he went back to Arsenal (African Arsenal, in Ghana I think). Then Udinese picked the guy up for around 400,000 K (euro's).

In 2009/10 Badu played 5 games, all as a substitute for Udinese. Then in the next season he made 2 starts and 6 sub appearances for Udinese in the League and 1 start in the Italian cup.

In 2011/12 Badu got 6 starts in the Europa cup for Udinese and 6 starts in the League as well as 4 sub appearances. In the following season 2012/13 he made 14 starts for Udinese in the League and 11 as a substitute 5 starts in Europa, so 19 starts was a vast improvement on prior seasons. This season he has 8 starts and 3 sub appearances in the League for Udinese.

He has played 41 times for Ghana and A-Badu has played 59 league games including sub appearances for Udinese and that Badu has played 77 games (all competitions) in total for Udinese since 2009/10.

Worthy mentions for his career so far are that he was part of the 2009 Ghanaian youth team that one the African Gold medal. He was in the Ghana FIFA U-20 World Cup winning team. In 2010 he was a silver medalist with Ghana in the African Cup of Nations and on a personal achievement in 2012 Badu scored the Puskas Global goal of the year, in which he chipped up the bal outside the areal and volleyed it in to the goal, in true Matt Le Tissier'esque style. Disappointingly, I can't find much footage of the lad actually playing for Udinese.

This might not be much help but hopefully it's something to go on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Despite his limited playing time at Udi, he is very highly rated - Although he seems to show a lot of inexperience and is very possibly not as good as some of the young midfielders we have coming through - Personally would rather have Baio tried out.

Also, with all of you being such big Liverpool supporters, you should remember him from his two games against us last season (where Henderson generally dominated midfield)

Agree0 Disagree0

Might as well sign my cat up then!

from what I know as regards all of this, reports say that LFC Salah and his agent HAVE agreed personal terms. The only part of the deal to finish is to agree on the fee. Whether that will happen or not I don't know. And I suppose at the minute no one does because no it has not been decided yet.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thanks for the update.

Ed001, Who do you Reckon in your opinion is the better fullback prospect, Luke Shaw, Alberto Moreno, or Martin Montoya, would like to know your view, Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - probably Shaw.}

16 Jan 2014 22:18:26
How would you rate De Sciglio and Adam Matthews too Ed01?

Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I have not seen a lot of De Sciglio. Matthews is ok, not top class but decent enough.}

Matthews terrible on the ball anyone see him against ac milan in the 1st game shocking

Agree0 Disagree0

Shaw has a one good season and now he is worth 30 million pound so what is flano worth? now he has played at left back and only lost his place to injury English football gone mad the Shaw lad is worth about 1.5 million he isn't even a full international left back there are two players in front of him for England no wonder clubs buy footballers from around the world

Hi eds thanks for keeping us all updated especially at this time of year with the window being open etc.
Just wondered if there would be any youth team players on the bench for the FA cup game against Bournemouth? If so who would be the most likely in your opinion?

Cheers

Henlow red

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I would expect Rossiter, other than that not sure.}

16 Jan 2014 20:41:55
Eds I Think like most top teams we won't be signing anyone big this january I for one belive our current squad is good enough to compete for 4th place and a decent run in fa cup if successful at end of season that's spend big and bring sum top players in to compete in the champions league.your thoughts guys .ynwa red dave

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think if we don't sign anyone we won't get top 4. I'm not trying to cause a stir, but I think we have overachieved at times this year. I think the squad is thin and needs the quality that Rodgers has spoke so frequently about. What riles me is that we say we won't sell players on the cheap, but expect others too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton could well finish above us. What will be the excuse then? That it was because we didn't sign Salah for 16m?

The players we have need to step up. And to be fair - they have done that so far.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2014 20:31:48
Does this mean we get free doughnuts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dunno bout that, but dunkin donuts normally have cops in them, not The Kop having a dunkin donut in it!

Hello everybody! We need a attacking star, a left back, a central midfielder and Will Hughes so we should get
Mohamed Salah FC Basel £9m
Domenico Criscito Zenit £12m
Ivan Rakitic Sevilla £15m
Will Hughes Derby County £2.5m
Also I know Mohamed Salahs cousin!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You certainly don't no will huges cousin 2.5 million oh please

Agree0 Disagree0

How on earth do you suppose we pay for them?

That's nearly 40 million there mate.

eds am I right in thinking that a season or 2 ago aly cissokho was rated as a 25 million pound player and was being considered by man city if true what happened to make him so cheap now

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No, I think someone was teasing you.}

Am sure I saw it on ssn if its not him who the hell am I on about

Agree0 Disagree0

25mil is a bit extreme but he was rated quite high when he was in french league but then it is an easier league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure if it was quite that steep a price but at one time he was considered to be a big talent and worth a decent amount, however think playing in the French league along with playing in a successful Lyon side flattered his abilities somewhat. He was then replaced on the side by Bastos if memory serves correctly

Agree0 Disagree0

Milan tried to sign Cissokho On 14 June 2009, Italian club Milan announced that the club had signed Cissokho, subject to medical, with a reported deal of €15 million. Cissokho underwent his medical on 16 June, but the very next day it was revealed that he had failed it.

Later that day, Cissokho declared he had passed a second medical he undertook, and that he had, subsequently, signed a pre-contract. In the meantime, Milan tried to re-negotiate the bid on a loan basis due to Cissokho's health concerns; as the parties failed to reach an agreement, Milan general manager, Adriano Galliani, subsequently announced the deal was cancelled.

On 18 July, French club Olympique Lyonnais announced that the club had reached an agreement with Porto for the transfer of Cissokho, in a deal which equaled Milan's €15 million bid. However, Porto remain eligible to receive 20% of the added value/differential value if Lyon sold him for a higher price. Cissokho successfully passed his medical and agreed to a five-year contract. He was presented to the media, along with fellow new signing Michel Bastos.

On 23 August 2012, Valencia CF announced on their official website they had completed a deal to sign Cissokho for the next four seasons for €5 million and €1 million variable and a portion of future transfer fee Valencia received.

It seems fifteen million euro's is the most Aly's ever been rated, in terms of value that clubs are willing, or not?, to pay up. I think he was mentioned for about £10 million two seasons ago, but went to Valencia for about half of that in the end. So it seems an inflated figure, even for City to pay.

Agree0 Disagree0

That ollieston is how to answer a question

Agree0 Disagree0

Definitely one of the worst players I have ever seen put on the red shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

How is he that bad Gooch? Fans need to give players a little time to settle, that lack of support helps no one - you are no 'supporter'.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2014 19:11:22
Yann M'villa and Mohammed Salah both waiting for a deal to be agreed between their clubs and Liverpool FC. Both players will eventually be Liverpool players by the time the Transfer Window closes.

Also been told Montoya of Barcelona is a primary target for next window.

Nice One.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Eds is this a much better post then would you say?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It did not require any answer from me - and you are beginning to piss me off.}

Sounds great but can't see it happening hope to dear fook I'm wrong as the signing of both with show great statement of intent!

Agree0 Disagree0

If we can get both players then that would be great. There both quality. Can't see them both myself this Jan, but I still think we will get Salah in the next 2 weeks.

Anybody else excited about Harry Wilson? The kid really impresses me! I've had the pleasure of playing with him once and watching him against bray wanderers. He is smart and has a very strong shot! The future is exciting

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There are some exceptional young lads in the academy at the moment. The left hand side were very well balanced last night with Joe Maguire and in particular Ryan Kent who were outstanding. Lloyd Jones was very impressive in centre of defense. Trickett-Smith impressed as usual and Rossiter also. The workrate of the youngsters really showed for the full match. Harry Wilson made an immediate impact when he came on, and if these lads keep up their development, keep grounded and work hard the future looks really bright for them all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jordan Rossiter looks really good. I hope he develops physically though and it isn't another Jay Spearing situation. Jay had the ability but physically he wasn't a premier league centre mid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spearing didn't have the ability, the physicality is an English mind set - look at Coutinho and Sterling, physically not the strongest but ability wise superb. Spearing was just unfortunately not at the required standard - fair play to the lad though he gave 100% every time he put on that red shirt, we couldn't as for any more.

Southampton is not in "turmoil". They lost a big member of the team, but they're not going to hit the self destruct button and panic. I don't see why they should. I doubt any of their stars are moving in January.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ian ayre has come out and said vibrating after we signed a deal with dunkin donuts that we are now able to compete financially with the top teams in the league must be 1 hell of a deal

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - They are the official foodstuffs provider to the manager.}

If that's correct Ed he's soon going to pile those lost pounds back on

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not with the High and Mighty clothing deal - up to XXXXXL.}

Untrue Ed, as Mr Rodgers has clearly lost a significant amount of weight since coming to the club. I don't think he's dunked any donuts in a long time.

Agree0 Disagree0

I want to be sponsored by dunkin :(. From what I read it's a relatively small deal. But, money is money.

Agree0 Disagree0

No he said our revenue streams can more than compete with the top teams around the world I think we were still in the top 10 in world football last year or the year before the highest of any team not in the champions league at the time

Agree0 Disagree0

If this is true and I can get dunking donuts at anfield then this is an even better signings then saurez! Love those donuts!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ian rush tweeted "I thought the only donut called dunkan was the 1 that ran koptalk"

Quality

Agree0 Disagree0

Judging by what I saw Monday, big Brendan is still on his health kick drive, he left Melwood for a least an hour & half on a run & was sweating like the proverbial pig & as red as our shirts on his return.

Unless of course he spent over an hour in the Deysbrook & 10 mins running.

Top man though, he signed as many autographs as you wanted.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2014 14:24:25
Funny how the fickle lot seem much more positive about donuts than players.

Had we been talking about a player there would without doubt we talk like "Who is this no name Duncan we signed? If we wouldn't have been cheap we'd have never missed out on Chris P. Kreeme." Followed by an Ed reply stating that we were never in for Kreeme.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2014 16:25:27
I think Liverpool have to accept that salah is a deal that is going dead, and the longer it doesn't happen the more chance the whole deal is off, I think Lallana is a great alternative target and don't get why br is not caught onto the turmoil at at Mary's and made a move, he would be a great signing fits into Liverpools play And a top British talent! What do you think ed?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I think you probably play too much fantasy football.}

People are making way too much of this "turmoil" at Southampton. Seriously, Cortese has left. I'll admit somethings not good there but I can gaurentee all their players are not going to start jumping ship for cheap. Calm down a bit.

And transfer deals can take more than 2 weeks. Cool your jets and see what happens. Salah may happen yet.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Jan 2014 15:49:28
BR has said in his statement they are looking to strengthen but no signings are imminent yet! Good news to me knew they wouldn't be early in jan, but the fact he's not ruling them out is food, as I don't think he would want to look stupid saying they are trying, then not bring anyone in!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Jan 2014 15:39:03
i really think we should try and sign rodriguez or lallana these 2 I think are class is there any chance of either eds

Am guessing that means no we could hope maybe the summer do you think we might look

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You are clutching at straws I am afraid.}

16 Jan 2014 14:51:34
Not LFC related but well done Hull city!
Shane Long for reported £7M, that's a snip. I have always been impressed by long and always wondered what he would've done in one of the bigger clubs (with respect to Hull and West Brom). He will score a few goals for Hull, that's for sure.

No news of any new signings for us. Maybe Ibe and Rossiter could come into some games like Sterling did at the beginning.
Poor Saints, everyone's gathering like vultures after their best players. Sad!
YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - but he can't score goals! He is just a slightly better version of Kevin Doyle or worse version of Dirk Kuyt. Runs around a lot but achieves very little.}

Ah come on ed001 he is a lot better than Doyle. He is Ireland's only hope for goals in the next euro qualifiers as keane is getting old. What we would give to have another Aldo ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed001, you're being very harsh. on Dirk! He scored goals when played up front, and worked tirelessly on the right. which was needed badly with a latter day Torres and Riera/ Garcia in the team. He was also a scorer of important goals. unfortunately he couldn't play up front on his own.

As for Long, £7m is about double what he's worth!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is why I said he was a worse version of Kuyt, as Kuyt scored more.}

Eds, right. Last season he looked like he was going to progress well but he's gone backwards. He has 1 good game about every 2 months and doesn't score enough

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2014 19:01:33
You know Aldo didn't score in his first 20 caps, right? Although I think that may have something to do with Big Sam's, sorry Big Jack's, brand of footie.

As for Long, he's not a player I rate. He hasn't got the footballing talent to do his physical abilities justice. So whilst he'll always be a handful, he, as the Ed has pointed out, isn't enough of a goal threat. The fact that he's battling with Stokes to be first choice for Ireland says more about Ireland's lack of options in attack than about Long's ability.

Our other options are:
Doyle, who's gone from scoring 13 PL goals in an injury hit season with a mid to low table club to not scoring three goals in League One.
Walters, who's not really much different from Long.
Keane who's old and playing Mickey Mouse footbal.
Conor Sammon. Enough said there.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2014 12:43:46
Ed001 if we sign one player this window who would you like from the players were linked with??? Fernando from porto for me

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - little to no chance of it happening, but I would like Moreno if he would move ahead of the World Cup.}

Do you think he is a possibility in the Summer Ed, or just not at all?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Moreno? Not really much chance as things stand, though it depends on Sevilla being able to sell other players so they can hold onto him.}

Good player if we only tried

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2014 14:10:12
Just going to throw this out for everyone's views. With our current squad being a bit thin, and the academy starting to produce real talent, wouldn't it be wiser to spend a small amount on an older player who we could get a couple of seasons out of? This would give us time for the kids to progress to the standard required for the first team. Remember Gary Mac, someone like him who could just give us a couple of seasons. We all know that the funds are not in place to compete with the plastics and the Arabs, we have to shop wisely and build slowly. There are older pros around who could give us a bit of depth and provide a bit of experience for our younger players to learn from. Just a thought.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

High wages and no resale value, makes this unattractive to club financiers

Agree0 Disagree0

The first one that springs to mind is Xabi but I just can't see it, as Ed 2 eluded to Alonso has plenty of offers to choose from namely a spell in the states and who could blame him after everything he has accomplished in his career.
Or perhaps if Chelsea were to no long required Ashley Cole's services he could give us a season or two, all fantasy football stuff really.
But as tough as it to sign players in January even more so in a world cup year i'd be shocked if the transfer window didn't heat up in the last week or so and a couple of new players arrive.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely that is what Gerrard should be doing with the younger players.

Agree0 Disagree0

It does not have to be a high profile player who is looking for massive wages. There are plenty of old pros who would jump at the chance to be involved with us. Out of contract, due out of contract etc. I remember when gary mac signed for us, it was a bolt out of the blue and look what he added to our team then. As I say, just throwing it out there.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd still take del Piero, even if it was a one off sub appearance. nostalgia if nothing else!

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't think of that many who would do a job. jenas, dyer, guttusso, vanbommel, deco, aimar, riquelme? These are players 30+ who have experience and could come in to fill a gap I guess.
Maybe a player from the MLS?

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see Del Piero too. If only

Agree0 Disagree0

I've been thinking this for a while. Like fair enough toure isn't a world class cb but there is a sense of relief knowing he is there. He knows his stuff and I can see how it could help other positions. We could do well with a smart player in the middle who doesn't need to be fast but could dispatch the ball with accuracy and hold play for Suarez and the wingers runs. Pirlo would be perfect for this but it won't happen. So yeah I get what your saying but how many clubs are doing the same these days? Look at Xavi, pirlo, iniesta, xabi, gerrard, lampard and van Der vaart. They are reaching the proverbial hilltop waiting on the way down. There is a reason Ronaldo says scholes is the greatest player he has played with and it deserves respect and admiration. But also the acknowledgment that a generation of players is ending and a new one with a new style is on the way. On a side note why does autocorrect change pirlo to porno? Or is it just my phone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jenas & dyer in the same breath as deco & gatusso?

Agree0 Disagree0

I was just rolling off a few names that popped in my head. Players that had played at a high level, that may be available, incidentally, I have never rated Gattusso myself, for me he's a thug on the football field, and that's it. Probably an ok fill in for Lucas once the yellow cards add up

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Do you think Deco will come out of retirement to play for Liverpool?}

17 Jan 2014 11:17:43
no Ed02, I was just throwing names out that were of an advanced age that were experienced and would be available.
Deco already proved he couldn't really hack the prem playing for chelsea in a great team, he still struggled.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really can't grasp why you would name a retired player, who now you say didn't "hack" the EPL although has a winners medal in relation to Liverpool.}

16 Jan 2014 03:24:14
Eds (01 especially)

Do you feel Benitez made a mistake letting Riise go at the time? I was a big fan of him and can't help but think that Benitez shipped him off due to the mstake against Chelsea in the semi-finals.

What do you think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - depends on how happy he was to be a back up option. He wasn't good enough, much as I liked him, though nor was his replacement, unfortunately. Rafa shipped him out because he was not good enough, he had wanted to replace him for a while. Unlike Finnan, who he also wanted to replace, Riise never stepped up and raised his game to hold onto his place. He just wasn't good enough on the ball.}

Opposite sides I knw but arbeloa was shipped out way too soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not strictly true, Rafa wanted to keep him, he asked to leave.}

Ed was just wonering how you rated Finnan? Consistent if not spectacular sums him up in my opinion, I was a fan anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I loved Finnan, he just seemed to keep getting better and better. Constantly proving people wrong, including me, as I wasn't keen on him before he joined.}

Perhaps Flannaghan has a touch of the Finnan's about him. proving endless lists of players needed to be slung out on here in the Summer.

Riise should have stayed until we signed a better LB . personally believe that unless someone is better I'd rather try a younger U21 player than sign somone unneccessarily. Dossena, konchesky etc just weren't better although Riise did have faults. especially backing off and letting crosses come in . take not Glenn, if you back up anymore you'll be holding hands with Mingolet - 2nd note - that's where we miss Carra - organising and pushing the defence out!

Agree0 Disagree0

Finnan could never defend a back post ball, lost count of the times we conceded goals this way. great on the ball granted but if youve played the game youll know that fullbacks first and foremost need to be able to defend

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2014 13:19:04
Just heard that LFC won't sign anyone as they're scared of making top four and not knowing what to do after. LOL just kidding lads signing or none we will be better of than we were last season I hope. Salah or Gio Dos Santos along with Wijnaldum and I'd be a happy costumer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Gio Dos Santos? Don't be daft.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep Gio Dos Santos who i'm guessing you have not watched all season or better yet a game that he's played in. He is improved beyond what he was in assist, goals and work rate as players can do if they desire successful careers. Hendo tries hard and as a result get game time at LFC even though he doesn't score goals he is an automatic. Gio is one of the best attackers in La Liga without apology and that's my view and you can check his stats if you disagree and also watch a match before talking rubbish will yah.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is not cut out for the premier league he flopped the first time around and would flop again

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't flop' he wasn't given a run like Carroll got even though he was plain rubbish. At tottenham he got cameo's some of which he was brilliant.

Agree0 Disagree0

I watched him at Tottenham and he was very poor - never adapted to the Premier league and, just because he is doing well in Spain, does not mean he could come back to England and do it. Massive gamble and just not worth it IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not typing that we should go out and buy Gio Dos Santos, I must be honest, I do rate the player, I know he may not have done well at Tottenham, let's be truthful, for whatever reason he played only 31 times in four seasons for them.

Since his time at Racing, he has been much improved. Gio managed to regain his confidence and was Mallorca's best player a season later, albeit they got relegated but then Villarreal who won promotion went straight in for him and he's been very good, Villarreal are currently fifth and Dos Santos has played 16 games, scored 8 goals and created 5 assists.

And so it begins. Southampton have well and truly shot themselves in the foot by allowing Cortese to go.
They should have done all they could to ensure he stayed and was happy, as it they will now become a vultures feast as players wish to leave. Pochettino will be gone at the end of the season at the latest and players loyalties will be somewhat deminished by the clubs lack of desire to keep hold of the main draw at the club, Cortese.
With the way in which he has conducted himself at the club he has surely made himself a desirable target for other clubs.
There are plenty of Southampton players I would love at Liverpool, Lovren, Shaw, Clyne, Schneiderlin, Lallana would all be welcome. It is obviously not as simple as that and the Southampton saga will roll on a while yet.
Its like a football Soap Opera in UK football at times.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Or none of those things may happen.

16 Jan 2014 12:07:18
It wouldn't be a transfer window without Farfan been link to Liverpool I suppose he'll be followed through the door by Torres and Aguero (not the chap from Man City either).

Hi Eds,
Heard a lot about Johnson looking to move on. Would you know anything about this? Also any updates on Enrique's return.

Cheers Eds.

{Ed002's Note - Why would Rodriguez be available at a "bargain price"?}

Hi Eds,

Iv seen Badu play a couple of times, most notebly against Arsenal. And he isn't a bad player, but i'm sure that he will only sit on the bench and not push Lucas for a Starting spot. maybe Allen, but not Lucas. I think if we do push for another Midfielder (defensive) then M'Villa would be a better shout but I think the obvious target should be Blaise Matuidi. he's a better player than Badu for sure. More experience. Are we seeing names crop up to forces peoples attention elsewhere? I.E LFC in for Badu when we are actually looking at Matuidi or Mvilla.

Also, I don't see Aspas having a future at LFC. Once Salah comes in then we should go in for Yarmalenko. Coutinho will get better and better and Hendo is having a terrific season. I admit I didn't see Hendo being here at the end of the season. I thought he would have another poor year. But he's been great.

Cant wait to see cissokho go back.
Interesting to see who we bring in at left bk more so than the other positions.

Cheers

"Are we seeing names crop up to forces peoples attention elsewhere? I.E LFC in for Badu when we are actually looking at Matuidi or Mvilla".

Ah, the old smokescreen tactic? Its a favourite of Liverpool's. This question really needs to be addressed directly to ed2 though who knows a lot about this age old transfer tactic.

hello eds, just wanted to know what is going on at southampton? are players being offered up as many are mentioning many players are becoming available or want out.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - I think its very plain to see that there are problems brewing at Southampton and will be interesting to see how it pans out, but until Katherine outlines her plans just nobody knows)

Would now be the time to test the water with a bid if ya wanted a player

{Ed002's Note - That is not how it works.}

Lovren would be a huge improvement on Skrtel/Toure! Next to Sakho, it would be a great cb partnership for years to come - I wish!

Ed01 has stated it is very unlikley we will sign anyone this window. So we can just look ahead to the summer and stop the rumours and stop reading this part of the site as nothing will happen. Thanks Éd01. ruined my January window.

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome, but (just to cloud the issue) I am always deliberately pessimistic as the best things happen when I am.....}

Ed001, watch the youth FA cup at the moment. Are the youth teams trained to play in a similar manner to the main squad? If so would you say that the youth teams have improved since BR came in? Apologies is they're silly questions, but I've never look too much in to the youth squads. Except Rossiter anyone in tonights squad we should be watching for the future?

DanTD

{Ed001's Note - the club are trying to get every level playing the same way. Changes will take ten years or so before you see a real difference.}

Just got home from the game and seen this. Ed you are right, it takes about 10 years, but I see us half way through. We had 3 players tonight who I GUARANTEE will be in the first team regularly in 5 years, maybe less. The first team now has 20% that has come through the Academy, in 5 years I can see at least 60% if you don't count the keeper. We have the best youth coach in the country in Neil and when the changes are made at the Academy, expect old school, the owners have VERY good advisors and are impressed with the way Bayern are run with all their 'legends' all through the club. Not that we will sign anyone from there :)

Thanks ChiefScout for picking this up. Who were the three players then and what do you see in them? From what I saw besides the obvious (Rossiter) was Kent.

Rossiter, Smith, Wilson.
