How exactly. . because you're a better side than 12 months ago and a fit VP always helps. Thought young Jack was awesome this evening against a team that I'd be delighted to tell my grandkids about.

Very well played!

Ed, what did ya make of Walcott tonight?
Thought he looked very poor myself! If Hazard goes to Arsenal - any chance we might move for Theo? He is a Liverpool fan after all & can't see him accepting the subs bench with The Gooners?!
Any opinion ed?
Cheers,
Irish Kev. {ed's note - I hope we don't sign Walcott, I really don't rate him, he can just run quick in a straight line.}

Besides Sterling coming through maybe next season or the one after - who then would you like to see KK & Comolli target for the wings? Keeping in mind Mr. Henry has said we will buy players at whatever price so long as it makes sense for sell on value etc.
Please don't say Gervinho / McGeady ed's!
They're ok but not nearly good enough for us, would rate Theo higher than both of them on his day!
We should be looking at the top top young talent.
Pace would be nice wouldn't it but with Carroll in the team we need good final ball wingers now possibly more than ever?!
Any suggestions for the wings ed's or anyone?
Cheers,
Irish Kev. {ed's note - I would like to see us target Pablo Hernandez (I would say Alexis Sanchez but I can't see us getting him) for the right wing, not sure about the left, the only ones I have rated recently have been young. I don't want a young player blocking Sterling's progress.}

Read the report on the Youth Cup win and was pleased to see little Raheem bag 5 goals against Southend (perhaps not the greatest opponents, who knows).

Finally so the highlights tonight and am gobsmacked. Pace (Like Cisse said the Mrs. .), balance, composure.

The old saying is 'If you're good enough, you're old enough'. We have a number of ineffective players in the wide positions at the moment, chuck him in?

Liverpool lost there prized asset in Torres and they bought Carroll at £35M. Sorry but to every supporter up and down this land, Europe and beyond this buy screams out loud of desperate PANIC! Its clear to everyone except those morons at across the park. Carroll on a good day is worth between £8 - £11M and only if they get in a bidding war; £35M is a crazy joke. Worry about your own team, because you really should be! There is an old saying " A fool and their money are soon seperated" in Liverpools case its very true! Mike Ashley is laughing all the way to the bank, he came up with a stupid number that no one would ever pay and the d****eads from Anfield went for it. LOL LOL LOL

Just got this off the everton banter page, who ever wrote this has got a point! . ManU the greatest team of all time
*************************************

He is only bitter because Andy Carroll cost moer than his club would sell for at the moment. He just has a case of little club syndrome.

Why are all of you wnating Hazard? He's too weak for the prem and he would get torn apart in the prem! He would only suit the French (like he is in now), Dutch, Spanish, German, Portugues and maybe the Italian league. . He's like a second or third grade Messi but with no strength! Heck even Lennon and Walcott have more strength than him!

lil_elf

Same could be said of Nasri and Ronaldo when they first came but Hazard has been performing consistently for the past 3 seasons and he only turned 20 in January. The pace of the game is slower than in England but the defenders there have the same built as those in England as most are of African descent and are strongly built. The only problem he should have is adapting to defenders like these coming at him swiftly and not giving him too much time on the ball. But with the ability he is displaying at such an age I would take the risk. Besides it is not just us (the fans who want him) as you will see in most reports we have had scouts watching him, and KK, Comolli and Roy (when he was here) have all seen him at close quarters this season.

I would like Kenny, to either blood Wilson, or buy a new centre back, because we will never be a top 4 side with Carra a permenant fixture hoofing it from the back. I truly think it his time to put him on the bench. Respet you more Jamie if you stood down and let us try something new, other than the back to the wall style of play you are good at.
*************************************

Agreed! I respect JC too but he annoyed me immensely against Wigan, the way he was hoofing it up field made me think for a minute that Roy was still in charge. None of our other centrebacks are doing that under Kenny. Ithink Carra is great in the centre of a back three, but a back four, he should be on the bench in my opinion. Give Wilson a shot.

{ed's note - I am not convinced by Clichy at all, he is very very weak defensively and not quite good enough offensively to make up for it.}

Good call ed, just as you say that, its his fault for the Barca goal, not stepping up in time with the other defenders.

Afraid not lads- clichy is class! Kochelny played villa onside- then clichy gave a wonderpass for arsenals goal. Very few defenders in the world have his pace and ability to make clean tackles while staying on his feet. Enrique isn't fit to lace his boots. If arsenal sell it's because wenger loves to make huge profits on players and Gibbs is also class!

16 Feb 2011 23:07:37
I see old poo face Hodgson is at it again, hes saying if west Brom play like barcelona they'll never stay up, let me guess Roy, defend defend defend and maybe get lucky scoring a goal and win for once, jeez, i think i could do his job and be better at it, what i can't understand is, how do they get jobs? He along with other so called managers are clueless really, just like the so called Pundits and commentators, nothing like stating the obvious, lets be fair its not rocket science is it? Ill do it for half the money that lot of incompetants are on and ill throw in an odd joke or two at half time lol.
************************************

Mindset - there are 38 games in the season - play for the 0-0 draw - there's 38 points - if you can nick the odd win, that gets you above the 40point mark and EPL status again. Nick a few more, and lose some, still gets EPL status. Overachieve and nick a couple more than you lose, and you might even get Europa.

I'm glad that Sterling is with the 1st team in Prague. But i would have chosen Suso to go as well or even instead of Sterling. For me Suso is better than Sterling and the rest of the youngsters and most of the reserve team players too. Unless Suso is going too, and i havn't seen that?

Evening.

I would be very excited at the prospect of a 3 pronged attack of Suarez, Carroll and Lavezzi. I know that we are crying out for width which could already be sorted on the left with Sterling if he gets a run and plays well, but he is still very young. If not then i'm sure it will be addressed in the summer. I was really impressed with Lavezzi when he played against us in the Eurpoa. He reminds me a bit of Tevez. Hopefully (if we get him) a step up to the Premier League would bring the best out of him like it did with Toni Monscarneck.

Hopefully we will manage to get him along with M'Vila and a winger or two. Also Kjaer alongside Agger would be a good one. Here's to the future.

Prediction for two 2-0 victories over the Europa fixtures.

From a zero profit prophet.

Anything to do with transfers and Real Madrid - stay well clear I say.
They are so canny / arrogant in their dealings, especially with English clubs. They got English-based players at desirable prices, and invariably off load their unwanted goods on us for decent money.
Yes, i'd have Xabi back anyday. But Benzema ; forget it. Don't be paying them top dollar for their unwanted goods !

Targets:

Jose Enrique
Taye Taiwo
Yann M'Vila
Blaise Matuidi
Gervinho
Ashley Young
Charlie Adam
Sylvain Marveaux
Gary Cahill
Ezequiel Lavezzi
Robert Huth
Charles N'Zogbia

Also on the way out are:

Christian Poulsen
Paul Konchesky
Soto Kyrgiakos
Milan Jovanovic
Alberto Aquilani
Emiliano Insua

Maxi Rodriguez and Joe Cole are going to be given the rest of the season to prove themselves. They are getting quite old, 30 and 29 respectively so Kenny is pondering about whether to keep them or not. .

Waro,
My folks moved to southern Ireland around 33 - 34 years ago, just before i was born!
We went back over every summer for a month or so up until i moved out of the family home at 19 & have relatives all still living in or around Liverpool.
I still go over now & again when work allows, to visit relatives & friends or sneakily go to a match without visiting if i only have a day or so free.
I have often gone to a derby with a cousin or uncle in my red jersey & sat amongst blue noses & never had anything other than friendly banter & vise versa! Why would i lie?! Yes there are "Bitters" but as i have said this is MY experience - i can't speak for anyone else, you included mate! I'm just sharing MY opinion from MY experiences! I appreciate you're not having a go or anything but just try to understand i am giving MY opinions only - i do fully respect yours too of course mate! Our opinions come from our own experiences i guess!
I've never really had a bad experience with a blue, just banter! And i have a few blues in my family & red too - all good banter - no nasty stuff bar one incident with a friend of a relative who got put in his place quite quickly "Glasgow kiss" style lol.
Sorry for the long post mate, but just wanted to explain fully!
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

i agree with the first 2 points would love to see united fall into a hole and fergie to get whiskey poisoning but the 3rd bit is a bit out of order.we are liverpool and young men died at munich and we should rise above scum fans and not take delight in the death of so many young talented men - and they were talented footballers - so any reference to that night should not be made by our fans leave the low lifes to raise such things. i know what they sing to us and about us but i repeat we are LFC and are above that so please no reference / comparison to that night

You play a high line to squeeze the play in the middle. The problem is someone forgot to tell the midfield to press, press, press.

Whenever Song tried, he tackled like Scholes. Yes Barca are a great side, but if you stand off them and allow them to play they will kill you. If you do this with a high line then you may as well lie on the railway track.

But they appear to have gotten away with it as Barca have eased off and i believe they have written Arsenal off as insignificant.

Sterling in my eyes is a new Aaron Lennon but the next level up.
Much more better finisher, goes for precision instead of power, can also skin defenders and very very pacey
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Walcott, Lennon, SWP and Stirling all have pace.
But Sterling will be better than both. WHY you ask?
Cause he has an end product!
And at just 16 he has a better end product than Lennon SWP who are like 10 years older than him.

I remember one of his coaches or someone saying he was at the level of what Rooney was at 18 when sterling was only 15.

But what we all want to know is if hes gonna be a VERY GOOD player like, Ashley Young or Wacott
OR could he be a WORLD CLASS player like Messi or Ronaldo.
Only time will tell but i feel it could be the latter.

ED, do you think Arda Turan is a Liverpool quality player? I have only seen clips on youtube and he looks very impressive, but youtube can make Sean Dundee look like Lionel Messi! ED have you seen enough from him to warrant a bid from us in the summer? Is the fact that he yearns to wear the red of Liverpool enough to convince Kenny and Damien to go for him?

arsenal should of played another cb or even another youngster instead of him.
even gibbs although he is a youngster but barca play with no width and always cut inside.
i know it was on the other side but when arbeloa played vs messi he was great.
eboue is just awful. he makes konchesky look like a world beater.

Your comment "As i said in a previous post about the bitters, i guess we all have our own point of view but i would definitely miss the craic & banter with both Irish Evertonian's & local blue noses!" - you mean there is more than one Irish Evertonian? Good heavens and I thought you were almost the perfect race!

I hope sterling gets a run out tomorrow, there was a guy on kraptalk b4 from qpr, saying sterling was playing for the under 18s at 14yrs of age,

Ed is nathan eccelston back because if you look at lfc offical website there is a person who looks a lot like eccelston wearing the number 39? {ed's note - he is on loan to Charlton until May 31st mate.}

well if you have seen thr pics who is it? thanks {ed's note - are you on about the Prague training pics? Because there is no one on there that looks like Eccleston, though there is a pic of Sterling in what looks like number 39.}

16 Feb 2011 19:41:11
Not a rumour but a question never mind all the players we are linked to what i think is the most important is that LFC/ NESV appoint de king AND steve clark and the great players will arrive at anfield and we will be great again

16 Feb 2011 19:42:36
Sterling in my eyes is a new Aaron Lennon but the next level up.
Much more better finisher, goes for precision instead of power, can also skin defenders and very very pacey

This is in reply to Waro

Sorry mate you feel like I'm butting in but here's my view. It might sound like a cliche but 'That's the diff. between us and them'. We want the passion that derby matches generates, we want that challenge. Isn't there more satisfaction in your heart when we beat those bluenoses. There would never be the same feeling against qpr. F*** the mancs the mersyside derby is the best in england, possibly in world. I'm with Irish Kev here, the joy of seeing them relegated will be short lived. And Kev you and Irish Red settled now mate?

LONG LIVE THE KING

VM YNWA

Cheers VM YNWA,
All is good now with Irish RED & me yeah.
In fact he's actually moving out of his parents & in with me next week lol!
I'm sure the wife won't mind like lol!
As i said in a previous post about the bitters, i guess we all have our own point of view but i would definitely miss the craic & banter with both Irish Evertonian's & local blue noses! There is nothing like it for me, the mancs thing though is just pure & utter dislike or hatred in some cases in my opinion - completely different! But it's just my opinion from my experiences!
Cheers mate,
Irish Kev.

I wonder, looking at the starting XI tonight, did Mascherano leave Liverpool to get splinters stuck in his arse? What a first class tit he really is.

Irish Kev your jokin lad, ad be rotten for a week if the twisteds went down! Give me QPR any day of the week! Before you go on one about freindly banter between each other and stuff, they would have danced in the streets if we would have been sucked into the bottom 3 which would have happend if Johnathon Ross would have stayed in charge. THEY HATE US WITH A PASSION and I no because I live and work amongst them everyday. Unfortunatly they won't go down because of the poor teams around them! Nice seeing thm squirm though!
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
I respect your opinion mate but i have to disagree!
My folks are from Liverpool mate so i know what it's like with the dislike but believe me if we went down they'd miss us! And even if they didn't miss us & did dance in the streets, so what let em! We're bigger, better & classier than that! Just cause they are like that doesn't mean we have to copy them mate!
But look, we all have our own experiences so it's a case of horses for courses maybe?!
Irish Kev.

Carragher is a good player. He is a born leader at the back, and his positioning and tackling are still very good. Yes he lacks pace but Agger is very capable of covering. Until we get a quality centre back, i wud stick with him rather than skrtel.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Nobody cares it's old news, Liverpool fans moved on from this story a long time ago, i suggest Manc and Blue noses try to do the same and worry about the future financial problems both your teams are facing, they are a damn site more serious than what we spent on a player! Although it is nice to see that you are more concerned with us than yourselves, we must be doing something right!

no. . he is lightning fast

Hi Ed, just for fun how about a difinitive list of stupid questions? I will give you a few of my favourites to start

" is Raheem Sterling slow?"

" is Suarez eligible for the europa league?"

" will we sign Hazard?"

" who will replace the youth team players who are coming through?"

" are you really a first team player?"

"I know your totally fed up with this mate but if Ajax get put out of the europa league is Suarez still cup tied? {ed's note - yes.}"

Once your tied you don't get untied! Also good luck to Mr. Sterling, great experience for the lad.
I would like to see him play but feel more developed players, taken from the reserves/ youth set up, are more likely to play, and him going is just easing him into the whole scenario as bigger and better players have struggled during european travels, i.e. Stevie G! What do reckon Ed?

Marshall {ed's note - I think he will play if we have a decent lead built up, but otherwise I expect him to be a spectator.}

Is Saurez eligable to sing in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Ed; I know what you mean about watching whoever was a home that week, in the Eightees me and my mates used to go to each others home games if we couldn't afford our own away fixture, it was an excuse for a couple of pints if nothing else.

Ill do it for half the money that lot of incompetants are on and ill throw in an odd joke or two at half time lol.

yes or no (vote)

16 Feb 2011 17:09:01
I would like Kenny, to either blood Wilson, or buy a new centre back, because we will never be a top 4 side with Carra a permenant fixture hoofing it from the back. I truly think it his time to put him on the bench. Respet you more Jamie if you stood down and let us try something new, other than the back to the wall style of play you are good at.

16 Feb 2011 16:52:39
Suarez cannot play in the Europa league for another club other than Ajax because Ajax finished third in their CL group and dropped into the Europa League.

This means that he has played for another club in European competition, and even though that was CL, the fact that this club is now in Europa excludes him from playing in it for us.

Torres can play for the Chavs as LFC haven't played CL this season, and aren't likely to!

It is an excellent way for CL clubs to be able to strengthen their squads with players with European experience in the current season.

Europa league teams would have to buy someone who hasn't played in Europe, or from a side who either got knocked out int he qualifying stages of the CL or came bottom of their Group.

Hope this clears it up.

AggerDo

{Editor's Note: It works in both directions, if Chelsea had sold Drogba to Liverpool he would be allowed to play for Liverpool. But each club may only make one exception in such cases.}

The above would be a great idea. If would give the likes of teams in Spain and up untill last season teams in England the chance to qualify, and earn some big money.

I should really shutup on this because Platini will not doubt read it and try to pass it next season when we're forth and and english team are about to win the europa league.

Arteta would be able to fill the hole left by Alonso and Baines would fix the left back problem. Everton may be willing cash in on both players before they lose them for nothing. {ed's note - where did you get this from? Poorly researched as Liverpool did not in any way rob Everton of a Champions League place in 2005, they should never have been allowed in and we should have been in the group stages. UEFA's rules stated that the winner got automatic entry to the group stages for the following year, yet we had to go through a qualifier to get there. Why? Because the FA tried to be greedy and take advantage of a loophole to get 5 teams in. Everton only have 3 players worthy of any kind of consideration, Rodwell, Baines and Coleman.}

Ed,
Do people not read all the comments before they post. Many questions are already answered before and are available to read. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page and read the page from bottom to top.

Now Ed, can you give me the answer to these question. Who do you think we will sign in the in 2014 Summer window, and will Saurez be able to play in the FA Cup next year? I'd like to see a pre season game in Asia and I'm trying to plan a holiday around it. I need time to save up so can you tell me if we will play in Asia and who we'll be playing against in summer of 2016. Thanks in advance. I'm a big fan of Carra and if he won't be playing then I need to know as I need to plan on whether to pack his jersey in my suitcase. Thanks and write back soon.

Kenny Dalglish just has brilliant management abilities. You can see his ability as a manager through bringing in and moulding young members into the first team. This is particulary evident with Shelvey, who never looked capable of breaking into the first team under Hodgson along with Kelly who is holding his own at right back.
Hopefully Pacheo will get more playing time. The pass and more system adopted by Dalglish would suit his playing style.

16 Feb 2011 15:24:41
Is it time to poach everton players Baines and Arteta. After almost 9 years in charge, David Moyes has come to the end of his champions league quest. The good will of the players is coming to an end, wage demands, not making c/ l. The players need to say good bye to Everton Football Club before they become too old to play the game at top level.

The financial reward of qualification for the Champions League would have been gold mine for a club like everton that was, and is, in dire financial straits. Liverpool robbed them of a place in 2005 as always seems the way for Moyes at Everton though, it was a case of so near and yet so painfully far. Since then Everton have finished in the top 6 three times (including 5th twice)

In a club where the constraints placed upon him by a penniless board have restricted everton's net spending to an eighth of Tottenham's, a fifth of Villa's and even a third of Birmingham City's

But the vital signings of key players, Tim Cahill, Phil Neville and Mikel Arteta (each signed for under £4m), as well as the bargain price paid out for future star Seamus Coleman (£150,000), suggest that Moyes is hardly without skill, shrewdness in the cut-throat dealings of the transfer market.

Everton is not a team of superstars, far from it, it's hard even to name a star player at Goodison Park, but it is a team, generally, of over-achievers. While a player like Arteta, who is clearly of a superior technical ability, could play for most teams in Europe, many of the other members of Moyes's side have, through dedication and the tutelage of their manager, risen above what seemed to be their limitations to provide Moyes with credible and useful Premier League players.

In 2004, Moyes plucked Tim Cahill from the relative obscurity of Millwall, and the attacking midfielder, one of the most effective headers in the penalty area, has become a stalwart for club and country. Moyes also helped to develop Phil Jagielka, Joleon Lescott (whose departure earned Everton a very tidy transfer fee) and Leighton Baines - all of whom have become England internationals.

Nine years is a long time, especially in football, where it is sometimes hard just to keep up with big spenders

Moyes has managed to achieve in the face of an almost unworkable budget and the unhelpful, if understandable pressure from everton fans wanting a return to the golden days of the 80s.

Everton may be right for acquiring some quality players. Man Utd have already made a few approaches for Leighton Baines and Arteta is quality. Maybe its time Liverpool tried to get these two player before man utd take them.

Arteta would be able to fill the hole left by Alonso and Baines would fix the left back problem. Everton may be willing cash in on both players before they lose them for nothing. {ed's note - where did you get this from? Poorly researched as Liverpool did not in any way rob Everton of a Champions League place in 2005, they should never have been allowed in and we should have been in the group stages. Waro

Spot on mate. I live away now but all of this crap about it being the friendly derby used to make me laugh. I'll be celebrating long into the night with you if the self styled "Peoples Club" goes down.

AC {ed's note - am I the only one who has noticed how much the derby has changed since the days when people could afford to go to see whichever team was playing at home that week? Me dad used to just go and see whichever team was at home that week with his mates, some were red, like me dad, some were blue, but they all went to the games together. There was much less bitterness about the whole rivalry then, but now who can afford to go see both teams? Most people have to pick and choose matches due to the sheer expense involved. Is it that which is polarizing support?}

Hi all, just a quick question for everybody.
we all know the young lad sterling is a great prospect and after his wonderfull display the other night has earned himself a trip away with the first team for tomorow night, but how many of us actually think he is ready?? i think he will be fantastic for us in a few years but i don't think we should see him near the first team this season personally. i don't want us to rush him in at such a young age and risk wht we could have in the future. i know were crying out for width now but i think blooding him in over the next 2 seasons would be better off for the lad. any thoughts?? Ed?? cheers. RED

{Editor's Note: The kids are real young and the best I can see for this year and next is the occasional chance off the bench.}

16 Feb 2011 14:44:06
Ed? honsetly do you think we will go for any other strikers and maybe any other cm when all we really need is a lb and a lw and then players who are of quality but not 1st for the bench maybe even just the young players for the bench because i don't see why we would go for benzema and bojan when we have 2 great 1st team strikers also why buy charlie adam because he has no place with gerrard raul and lucas all playing well plus if we get a lb maybe contearo (spelling) johnson could move to the right wing and then kelly rb but i can't see that happening what do you think kenny will do? {ed's note - I think Kenny wants another striker, a central midfielder, a left back, wingers and a centre back. Which he will prioritise have no idea, but that seems to be the noises coming from the club. I really can't see us buying players for all the positions, so it will be about his priorities and player availability.}

Ed, is Suarez available to play against Sparta or is it becaus. . . . . . . . . . . . . just kidding ;)

One for the crystal ball

Gulacsi

Kelly Coady Wisdom Mavinga

Amoo Shelvey Bruna Sterling

Suso Pacheco

16 Feb 2011 14:27:28
Do we really want benzema? on his day he is a quality player, in my opinion he is inconsistant and just lazy

16 Feb 2011 14:14:01
Who id like to see us looking at in the summer;
LB: Coentrao, Cissokho, Baines, Gibbs
CB: Kjaer, Cahill, Subotic
RB: Walker
DM: Banega, Rodwell
LW: Mata, Johnson, Defederico, Marin
AM: Ganso, Eriksen
RW: Hazard, Sanchez, Arda, Arnautovic
CF: Lukaku, Neymar, Necid

In reply to this why would liverpool be looking to get new players in half these postions. I think liverpool need a left back and a wide player. Why would they be looking for a right back when they have Johnson and Kelly, or a centre back when they have Carragher, Agger, Skertel, Wilson, Kelly. Or a centre midfielder when they have Gerrard, Meireles, Lucus, Shelvey and the same up front with Suarez, Carroll and Kuyt. I believe a left back and one wide player would do fine in the transfer window this summer, and also start to blood more and more of the amazing youth players the club have coming through.

Honestly hope sterling coady and suso if he goes will play tomorrow just to show people whats in store for us liverpool fans in the future! your thoughts ED? {ed's note - I would like to see them play, they are fantastic players all of them.}

As we haven't got a game at the weekend I think Kenny will play his strongest team and unless were winning 3 or 4 - 0 then we'll have to wait until next Thursday before we see Sterling, Suso or Coady

Ed,
Do people not read all the comments before they post.

Chi-Paul

Sorry mate you feel like I'm butting in but here's my view. It might sound like a cliche but 'That's the diff. between us and them'. We want the passion that derby matches generates, we want that challenge. Isn't there more satisfaction in your heart when we beat those bluenoses. There would never be the same feeling against qpr. F*** the mancs the mersyside derby is the best in england, possibly in world. I'm with Irish Kev here, the joy of seeing them relegated will be short lived. Hello peeps,
This is just my opinon and nothing to factual here but i just wondered if anyone else out there agrees with me. As reguards to all the people who keep putting rumours on this site about Liverpool signing lots of various players. I personnally don't think that lots of players needed to be signed in order to get the club back to the top. I believe that with the young players who have been in the squad this year and with the new signings of Carroll and Saurez (both early 20's) and the fantastic youth team Liverpool have at the minute i don't think the club needs to make many signings, it just needs time for the youngster to mature and gel as a team under Kenny.
Just look at these names: Kelly, Wilson, Shelvey, Pacheco, Sterling, Suso, Robinson, Spearing, Flanagan, Amoo, Eccleston, Coady, Ince. Add to that Carroll and Saurez plus the other players at the club allready and i think it is only a matter of time before Liverpool start making a serious bid for the title again. What do you think??

Sterling is on the verge to be on the plane to play on thursday, most likely be on the bench, if and when he comes on lets hope he will be given enough time to show kenny what he can do.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Kenny has seen plenty of Sterling already, he watched him bang 5 goals in the other night.
He has more knowledge than most of the youth system that we have in place.
He still regularly watches the youth games besides as all the work he does with the senior squad.
We are finally seeing the young players making the step up, which says alot about thier progress.
Which I think is brilliant.

According to a Italian paper; With Fiorantina doing so poorly, we're going to make a move for Jovetic who is currently unsettled. He was a great prospect at one point and I think he still is. Can play on the left and can beat a man. He has recently announced he has higher expectations than Fiorantina can achieve! What do you think Ed? {ed's note - it does look like he will be moving on, I very much doubt it will be to us though.}

I just heard an awesome chant for Lucas. It's a shame he's not actually a much better player because he almost doesn't deserve such a fitting tribute! Anyway it's to the theme of Lola by the kinks:

"He's got long hair and he's strong as an ox
He'll roar all day, he'll go box to box
It's Lucas leiva, la la lucas leiva"

Anyone who wants can go on youtube and search for la la lucas leiva for an admirable performance of this little number.

I think it's genius

"The Madness of King Roy XXVII"

There is little about LFC in this posting. It's almost a rant and I make no apologies for it. It started when I realised Mike Parry had 'left' talkSPORT due to the signing of Andy Gray & Richard Keys - or Keysie to his irritating mates and guests. Herein lies the rub - as Shakespeare put it.
I have ranted (for that is what it was) recently about pundits and this is just an extension. If you want to know what's happening about LFC, then skip this posting. I simply want to vent my annoyance about pundits and what we are spoon-fed and seem to want or accept.

I've never really liked Parry whose clown act and spoonerisms were infuriating, but at least he lived in a sort of reality. Alan Brazil and his stooge - Ronnie Irani - are vacuous and mildly dumb at times. They talk about Arsenal's chances in tonight's game; so who do they invite on to answer that question? Frank McClintock - an Arsenal player (legend according to Brazil, but then every ex-player he regards as a legend and a great mate!) who is hardly going to say they are poor, bad, bound to fail or anything like it. You could write the script for this interview, like you could for all these banal sort of interviews.

All ex-players say is how good their former team is and how they will win. My milkman says that and we ignore him. I want radio to be challenging and controversial, exciting and unpredicatble. Get someone on without vested interests, someone who doesn't want to upset their mates at the club and say something interesting! The camaraderie, the chuminess, the old pals' act is utterly banal and boring: "Hallo Incey!" "How's you Keysie!?" "My old mate Georgie Burley!" - another football failure! The way they talk is like being in the dressing room and not wanting to be nasty to anyone. It's sickening and boring.

If you don't stand up and tell the radio stations and TV people this is boring and dull, then they will continue to spoon feed us this crap.

STOP employing ex-players to tell us precisely nothing of value in anything they appear in or on. I know as much as any professional footballer about the game, becuase nothing they say is ever beyond me, you, your dad, your 14 year old son, your mother or your mates still playing park football. Listen really carefully to what Martin Keown says about defending on TV: "They need to mark closely to stop them scoring." Really Martin?
David Pleat's assertion that "they need an extra man up front to score that important goal, otherwise they are out." God, that's a real insight into the game David!
It's mindless drivel and you fall for it every time.
Don't read this and disagree with me - tell me why what I have just written above about these commentators is incorrect . . if you think it is.
IT IS NOT!
Think very carefull the next time you listen to a pundit or ex-player on the radio or TV and see if what they say is beyond you, your thoughts or what you are thinking about the game. IT WILL NOT BE!

What you will have as an advantage over people like Alan Hansen and Alan Shearer is the intellect to avoid describing even the simplest task, pass, tap-in or walk to pick up the ball as "amazing, " "oustanding, " "utterly brilliant, " "the work of a genius, " or "unbelievable!"

What is unbelievable is that we listen to such dross and describe average players who kick a bag of wind as "geniuses!"

Ed, it was an absolute pleasure to watch a replay last night on LFCTV of our 9:0 win against Southend. We undoubtedly have half a dozen 17 year olds who genuinely have what it takes to make the breakthrough into the fist team. Whilst realistically they need another 12-24 months to physically develop, what is clear is that in the not too distant future Kenny will have 5-6 top notch young players to call upon. In 2-3 years time we may very well regularly see in our starting 11 the likes of Flannagan, Coady, Robinson, Suso and Sterling together with Shelvey and Kelly who have already made the breakthrough. A lot of credit has to go Rodolfo Borrell and also Rafa for pushing hard for Rodolfo to be employed by the club and for the youth set up to be revamped. Rodolfo and his team in a relatively short time seems to be replicating Barcelona's famed La Masia academy. For all his faults this together with Istanbul is Rafa's real legacy, thankyou! . Sterling's goals were truly exceptional. Who ever got the club to fork out £300K to QPR for his signature deserves a huge bonus. Whilst he is too young to be a first team regular and needs time to develop physically he might get 10-15 mins cameo if the Europa league game goes our way. He will also learn a lot from training with the first team squad. He is clearly a world class prospect and if continues to work hard may very well turn into a truly world class star. Suso also looks a great prospect. He too needs to mature physically but will also develop into a top player. With NESV, Kenny and Rodolfo all the ingredients are there for returning to the top of the tree. Reality Red

Hi ed, I'd like to know what do you think about pacheco's future with us. Do you see him featuring against prague? sure he just signed a contract extension a short time ago, but kelly who signed alongside him has come leaps and bounds while pacheco has remained where he was, on the bench. What do you think is the situation with him? does the management think he's not good enough? I hate to see a talent like him rotting on the bench.

Been reading through yesterday's posts.
I cannot believe LFC fans are having a go at Broughton!
The man is being sued by our former custodians who we all hated & wanted rid of.
He in my opinion risked his whole career for our cause.
He got us sold without the custodians consent, behind his own employers backs! This takes great big balls in my book!
We may not have found the sugar daddy some wanted as new custodians but NESV will do us proud i'm sure given 3 or 4 transfer windows!
Mr. Henry has done everything perfectly so far for me!
Hell, he brought Kenny back!
The only man who could walk on water in our eyes!
Again, it was another brave move given Kenny was out of the game a while!
But fortune favours the brave sometimes so please one & all, give Broughton some credit!
I for one am very thankful to him & feel we owe him a bit of respect at least.
Anything to add ed?
Cheers,
Irish Kev. {ed's note - no mate, I think you have summed it up very well. Seems like everyone is suddenly believing what H&G had to say, why? Those two clowns are proven liars, nothing they have to say can be trusted.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I'll just add, i really feared for LFC's life as such when i heard those two idiots were fighting tooth & nail to keep "ownership" of the club - we all probably did!
It was like something out of a movie - a bad one!
I hardly slept properly for weeks, months even!
So i hope if our great rivals Everton are in as deep as it's rumoured that LFC fans keep their class about them & don't rub it in! Remember how you felt when things looked so bad back in Sept / Oct. I nearly went mad so can only imagine what if felt like for local Liverpudlians. Now, a lot of blue noses mocked us throughout a lot of it but i hope the majority of LFC fans don't return the mocking & in fact support the Everton fans through it if anything! After all, they may be our bitter rivals, but they're our neighbours too - i draw the line with the Mancs though lol!
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

While watching 'Match of the Day' I accidentally paused on a close-up of your new No.7 Luis Suarez, to talk on the phone.
While talking I though he reminded me of a cartoon character, from a movie a good while back. It sprun to me the movie was 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' and Luis looks the spitting image of the 'Hunchback' named 'Quasimodo'.

Have a look on google and you will laugh as you see the resemblances between the two.
Ofcourse Suarez hasn't got a hunchback, and has quite a substantially better job than Quasimodo as a Bell'Ringer.

Ed, or anybody else for that matter, do you see the resemblances?

A question for the ed(s) and anyone else - will Marveux, assuming he gets past his injury and we complete the signing, be any more than a squad player? It feels like we are signing him purely because he is left-footed. Is he a naturally wide player, because he scored more than he assisted last season. I feel we need someone more like Turan who can create more from out wide, especially with Andy Carroll in the centre and Suarez, Raul and Gerrard sitting off him. But, as I type this my head is telling me to trust Kenny.

LIVERPRES

{editor: Well by Arda's own admition he plays best behind the striker. Marveaux can play anywhere in the midfield.}

Blues can't go admin 2 of me best mates are blues the banter is priceless! If they went down it'd be funny for like a month! After it would suck.
Btw we need to go on another winning streak.

Thanks for the info ed's. personally it would be a grave shame if moyes left. lifetime red here but if david leaves, also will the fight that we all enjoy on derby day. the blues will face a real threat of admin. an the loss of their star players ( mikel, leighton, jack phil 'XKR' jags to change shirts please. classy an capable squad fillers for konk, s**te28 an the greek.shame piennar slipped the net) fellaini will also go on the cheap with timmy 'manure' an jonny H. all good buys on the cheap. back to my origional point, long gone will be the days of the passionate derbys hat saw stevie learn to fly (into gary naysmith), dirk practice his secret kung fu hobby an judas bringing joy to us an despair to the toffee's. cmon reds, the blues need the typical mersey support to keep the red an blue halves of merseyside as 1, yet also as the fierce blues we all hate to lose 2

I would play Mireless there 1977 and put Lucas in alongside Stevie. I think Mireless could do twice the job playing there than Cole mate. And Lucas would give us more balance in the centre. Because he does the dirty work better than Stevie and Raul, who both like to push forward.

*After 2 failed attempts at Meireles Im glad to see, at the third time of asking, you plumped for plain old Raul ;-)

Cheers,
Irish Kev. {ed's note - no mate, I think you have summed it up very well. Seems like everyone is suddenly believing what H&G had to say, why? Those two clowns are proven liars, nothing they have to say can be trusted.}

Blair .

Fair point , of course we will be seeing plenty of selections and formations from now on . I think Kenny Dalglish might ask Steven Gerrard to attack from deeper than we have been used to seeing him , maybe where he used to play alongside Hamann ?

What do you think ?

Hey ed, have you heard any news regarding the ceo position? Is it more likely now one will not be appointed until the end of the season? If so, would this be a good indication that the target(s) we have in mind are already in work at another club?

DownUnderRed. {ed's note - I haven't heard any news since the hunt was put in the hands of an outside company. I would still hope for an appointment before the end of the season though.}

You've seemed to have calmed down RED mate. Now hopefully we can talk about what's important?

What do you think of Kenny's return?

What do you think of the Andy Carrol signing?

And more importantly, what do you think of Luis Suarez's TEETH?

Blair .

I was trying to go as attacking as I think Kenny Dalglish is prepared to go . I chose Cole simply as the classic 'number 10' (a creole footballer me thinks) - of course he has some form to find first .

I do respect Lucas , he looks like Jan Molby patroling the midfield sometimes .

The signing of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez reminds me of John Charles and Omar Sivori signing for Juventus in 1957 .

I think Kenny Dalglish will soon line up :

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Reina. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

. . . . . . .Kelly. . . .Carragher. . . .Agger. . . . .

Would you not prefer Lucas in instead of Cole 1977? I think he's been one of our best players.

Sterling is on the verge to be on the plane to play on thursday, most likely be on the bench, if and when he comes on lets hope he will be given enough time to show kenny what he can do.

Ed, do you think LFC will get BENZEMA ir arsenal will snatch him? {ed's note - hard to say right now, we could slump and end the season nowhere and have no chance of getting him. But, barring that kind of disaster, I actually think we have a decent chance of getting him.}
