Hi eds, do you know anything about AC going on a new fitness regime at Melwood? I heard someone say something about KK pushing him through a completely new system and doing things like cutting off his stupid ponytail to improve his mentality. Can you see any of this happening/happened?

Cheers mate

maka {Ed001's Note - he was put on an extremely hard training regime as soon as he recovered from injury. He is being pushed very hard, which could easily be why he looks like he is struggling. The guy could simply be shattered from the training, it can take years to improve your fitness if you aren't naturally fit enough. He is simply not that naturally fit by the sounds of what I have been told, his lifestyle at Newcastle certainly didn't help with that!}

So going by what you say Edd, we are not really likely to see the benefits of AC til next season at the earliest. Could well be that he will improve fitness all this season and come back a new man once he gets a rest and then pre season. Another thing which baffled me was how he bull dozed teams for Newcastle, yet do look weaker/tired for us. What im trying to say is obviously we are taking the long term approach with him.
To sum up I have never slagged him off, nor guaranteed he would come good. Hoped more than anything. But i shall be writing this season off for him and will truly pass judgement next years. Thanks for info.

Hi Eds
A question: How can the FA find Suarez guilty if it's one man's word against the other. A ban will mean LFC wil appeal and this could lead to all kinds of damage and compensation case either way...what a can worm Mr. Evra has opened. He did do something similar before with the french if I'm right....please comment eds. {Ed001's Note - no he didn't, Evra has not done this before, please forget that nonsense. They can find him guilty of a charge based on what he has admitted saying, if they feel what he said is offensive enough.}

Sorry ed you are wrong. It. Was. Made against a chelsea steward {Ed001's Note - no, it was Mickey Phelan who made the complaint, Evra clearly stated that he had heard nothing. So it is not me that was wrong at all.}

I disagree Ed1. If he can prove he did not believe what he said was offensive then he cannot be found guilty. To prove someone is racist, you would have to know that what you said would cause offence, not whether it was offensive to the other person. I think you are forgetting Luis's English is very poor and if he did not understand that what he said was offensive, then he is not racist. {Ed001's Note - rubbish. Ignorance is no defence in a court of law.}

This is not a court of law though {Ed001's Note - yes it is, it is a court of FA laws.}

ED 1 you are talking out of your rear end mate. How can you say it is ignorence? He has a poor grasp on the English language and the word he used is a term of endearment in parts of South America. {Ed002's Note - You are missing the point. The claim is that he is "ignorant" of the fact that it would be taken offensively in Europe. He sure as hell did not use it as a term of endearment regardless of that.}

I cant see him using the term he said as a term of endearment,when he had been kicking him all the game,jimmybosun,

No it is you Ed 1 that talks rubbish. Read the legal guidance below from the CPS.

Racial hatred is defined in section 17 of the Act. The prosecution must prove that hatred was intended to be stirred up or that it was likely to be stirred up. Likely does not mean that racial hatred was simply possible. We therefore have to examine the context of any behaviour very carefully, in particular the likely audience, as this will be highly relevant. {Ed001's Note - you are the one talking rubbish, he has not been charged with inciting racial hatred. So please take your lies elsewhere.}

I may be wrong and it may be a fans accusation but was there a false claim against Finnan {Ed001's Note - it was a deaf fan in the crowd who made the complaint against Finnan, again Evra plainly stated he had heard no such thing.}

I think its particularly complicated because Suarez didn't mean his comments in a friendly way, but he does come from a culture where it is normal to refer to someone's racial origin in the same way we would say 'hey mate' or similar.

But we also use words like 'mate' or 'pal' when we are annoyed, for example 'watch it, mate' if someone is out of order.

I am convinced Suarez meant his comments with that hostile meaning of 'watch it', but he was brought up to believe that is completely acceptable.

There are specific racially abusive terms in Hispanic countries (as the 'N' word has sadly been used in Western countries), but those terms are not 'negrito' or 'negro'.

I think ignorance should indeed be a strong defence, just as we would hope if we were in his place- for example if we said 'hello mate' to a person in Mongolia only to find out that in their culture it was an abusive word.

Can you sign your posts please?

Ed is right....

He has been living in Europe for three years before joining Liverpool...He cannot say that he does not the meaning of the word and the sensitivity it brings with it...

But despite having said that I genuinely believe he is not a racist......He was trying to round up Evra and was successful in doing that...He must have said that but he wont have meant it.....

Its really strange that how things said in the heated moments of a football match assume so high a significance these days.....

It definitely looks a very simple case which has been hyped beyond infinity......

LiverBird

He is prob not a rascist but he used a racial term in an offensive way to wind up Evra. He will get a few game ban. Ignorance is a joke, he knew exactly what he was saying.

Ed some sites such as givemefootball quote King Kenny as saying we will make no transfers in this window. Do you believe that to be a possibility? Cheers {Ed001's Note - I don't believe Kenny will tell anyone what the plans are for any transfer window. He plays his cards very closely to his chest.}

Ed, if suarez was found guilty, what punishment should we expect for him? i.e. length of ban? {Ed001's Note - I honestly have no idea sorry, it will really depend on the FA, they have a huge amount of discretion available in this area.}

Whatever ban he gets i bet jt is crapping hiself,but knowing our corrupt fa,they will probably find no case to answer,

Hi redmen im an Everton fan and come in peace for what it's worth i think Suarez is not guilty of anything. I don't like his antics but i dont think he is no racist, and as an objective Everton fan i think he is a good player and would be a loss to the English game if driven out.

Blue Mike

Is that Red Mike in disguise?

I think he is one of the top 3 players in EPL right now......

It should be a balanced judgment blaming nobody for the mess....If any1 is declared guilty it would be difficult to see that player having a long term future in EPL......He will be gone if not this season then next season......

The way many fairweather football fans have converted themselves into abusive human beings, I see the continuation if a player (either Suarez or Evra) very difficult if declared guilty...

Hi eds just want to know if Luuk de Jong is the most likely target for us in January? Do you rate him cause I've only seen YouTube clips! I think this might be another pricey risk! DubRed {Ed001's Note - it is hard to say, there is a very real interest in him, but it really depends on what kind of interest there is in him from other clubs. For me, he looks very much suited to the English league.}

I agree with ed. He is a quite a big lad 6ft 2 and reasonably strong.He is also quite quick he is not as slow as some people are making out.I think he would be a superb player for us.All we really need is someone to be there to put it in the net.If we had someone like luuk de jong in the qpr game he would have easily got a hat trick I guarantee.He has good attacking positioning.For round about 12.65 mil I reckon would be a quality signing.

Eds is it true we had dani alves, davis silva and david villa ready to join us? and if so why dident they join us in the end?

great site :) {Ed001's Note - I can't remember the story with Alves now, but Silva and Villa deals were pulled by Gillett and Hicks after it was all agreed. They just refused to release the funds.}

There's not point dwelling in the past mate. Look to the future.

Danny

Wow it just shows how bad our previous owners were

That is sickening to hear, what a nightmare that must have been for Rafa

Just a thought. If Luis gets found guilty of racism by the FA can he appeal to the European Court of Arbitration in Sport? A European panel would understand the context of the term negrito in Spanish speaking countries so an appeal to them would have a good chance of success. I suspect that if the FA know that is a likely outcome they might be thinking twice about finding him guilty.

Bob {Ed002's Note - I guess he could but (a) that would not influence the FA decision; (b) I rather doubt he would have the support of the club.}

I just read in twitter that one of the 3 member interdependent comity is a close friend of Sir Alex. any news or clue about it Ed? Guys ? {Ed002's Note - It is all part of a conspiracy. Dennis Smith is the person involved - and please don't read anything in to this.}

Is Dennis Smith the ex manager of Wexham Ed mate? If so then he was manager when Darren Ferguson played there. I know it's nothing but it could be were the conspiracies originated from .

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - spot on Blair. But he is also a friend of the Ferguson's anyway.}

Good spot Blair.
Can I ask, eds or whoever, is the Independent Commission made up of laymen or qualified lawyers etc ?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - A QC, the head of Sheffield & District football association and Dennis Smith who was a one time defender for Stoke and sits on several FA panel.}

I don't think Fergie would stoop that low, he's actually a friend of Kenny's off the field I think?

maka

Thanks ed.
Bit of an eclectic mix that !
If there's one F.A. member, how is that independent ?
The Real KB

{Ed002's Note - It is not a member of The FA of England and Wales, it the head of the FA of Sheffield (and Hallamshire).}

Can't see us spending £28m/Eur in Jan without selling 2 or 3 to make most of it back.

Perhaps De Jong, with no need to sell could happen, but definately not both.

i for one wanted Torres back until I remembered how I felt when I first read this

"I knew I was an idol for the Liverpool fans, but it wasn't the same anymore," he said. "The institution was in chaos with the sale.
"There was all this talk of possible projects. People aren't honest in the world of football. You can't say the truth or be clear with people. It's a business and nobody is anyone's friend.
"In many ways it reminded me of Atletico Madrid — a great history, many ideas but without money. It needed time. I don't have that."
Torres, 26, is yet to score in the five games since his move from Chelsea. By contrast, his first goal for Liverpool came in his second Premier League game in August 2007 — coincidentally, against Chelsea.
But Torres said that he was still adapting to his new role, and described Chelsea's squad as more "professional" than Liverpool.
"There are better personal relations and more jokes between the players at Chelsea than at Liverpool, where everything is a lot more serious. Here you don't have to demonstrate that you are a professional, it's taken as the minimum," he said.
"Winning trophies is all they care about here and, for me, the Champions League is the dream, no doubt. After having won the European Championship and the World Cup, it's the main challenge left.
"Obviously I want to win the Premier League too. It's one of the great prizes in the game and I honestly think that we will win more than one while I am here."

Since reading that get stuffed torres liverpool are massive chelsea are good but make n0 mistake liverpool are giants in terms of football global lfc are on the up

How about trying fabio aurelio at dm if hes fit not bad at tackling got a good pass excellent cross good shot on him and pace wether he can do 90 minutes is a different story I dont think hes injured at the moment he is a quality player could play left wing as well id forgotten him till I seen him on lfc tv earlier might be worth a try if hes fit

Rafa played Aurelio at DM at Fiorentina & they battered us

Coxy82

He also played him there against Portsmouth and Aurelio had one of his best ever games. Kenny also played him there last season against Stoke and he did a great job.

Not an inquiry, but a comment. Liverpool should look at Nathan Redmond of Birmingham.

Excellent potential.

I hear the MOTD theme tune...

I hear he has good potential on Fifa 12. Must be a good buy then!

more of a question than a rumour there is a lot of talk of signing a DMF with lucas's injury but was reading a blog on LFC'S web site KOP and someone suggested that why not play Agger in that position-- he can defend and is very comfortable on de ball and can have a go from distance it frees a space for Carra which could be a win win situtation save our mon for a poacher just a taught

Makes sense to play him there but i'd be extremely reluctant to break up the defensive partnership forming between him and skrtl right now...
just gets better and better each game.

We don't need a DMF do we? We should be playing attacking football against the next 3 sides - after these 3 we have Man City away and we have Jay Spearing back - or the January transfer window if we need it and if Kenny believes we do too. We didn't play a DMF against QPR and it didn't affect our defensive duties at all.

Thanks, KickingBro

Hold on i said about playing agger there as soon as lucas got injured and got slated for it this is johnisum.

Its intresting that the two people who are most talked about on this site are.....well let me go thorugh them

David Villa- His left leg is being used for spanish meat.
Fernando " traitor" torres - can't even score John Terry.

I heard a rumour that John Terry scored with Torres though - Mrs Torres, that is!

Quick poll for everyone,

including eds.
How many people are in support of a new 70,000 seater stadium in stanley park as opposed to the suggested re-development of anfield into a 60,000 seater?

Click Agree for Anfield

click disagree for stanley park

Rewflo

We don't need to move. Anfield is fine

Danny

I'm not an ed just a user of the site but I believe there have been major problems with council permission and that sort of thing with regards to redevelopment so a completely new stadium would be financially far better for the club

I'd stay and redevelop every time

Chris on Tamworth

Anfield too small that's the problem I agree it's a great stadium but more seats means more money and if they do naming rights that's even more money= more chance of getting some of the rediculouse names being linked to the club. Please be realistic

I would love to stay at anfield but the club needs a massive stadium with the demand for tickets the club needs to expand way beyond 60,000 we need 70,000 +

belfast red adam

The statement from the club about the stadium will be announced after the result of the Suarez/Evra incident.

As long as it isn't as stupid as "Sports Direct Arena" or "Warrior Stadium" then I am fine with it. Anyone got any ideas with names with naming rights taken into consideration?

Thanks, KickingBro

I've posted this a couple of times before. If Warrior is becoming one of our main shirt sponsor why don't they introduce a 'Fortress' name / range in their goods.
"Fortress Anfield" has a good sound to it.
Midsred

Can't we just name the new stadium Anfield?

I think it's the name change people are uncomfortable with!

Chipkin9 (EIRE)

Read on a couple of sites that the new stadium will be sponsored by Boeing, just a rumour though. {Ed002's Note - Who have no links to England, let alone Liverpool. It would be a surprise to say the least.}

Lol 'daves chipy on breck rd' luv it lol! ! also i think it will be worth more then £15million a year, if we do get a sponsor im sure we will overtake arsenals sponsorship deal.RedTurk

BREAKING NEWS: The FA have just announced that they will be spending the weekend going through Suarez charge etc. There will be no formal announcement until Tuesday next week

Tel 1949

The FA probably wont have come to a decision until I am either old or dead. I guess they are finding it difficult to say innocent or guilty, which means its hard to prove but also hard to disprove.

They have to consult Sir Alex first...Bobbinred

They are deliberating on length of ban. If FA deemed him innocent that would have been released already. They know if they ban him for too long then there will be a s**tstorm. I would say purple nose would want him available for 3rd jan.

Suarez case still dragging on .

What a waste of time ..........................

1977

They're probably giving him a 3 match ban, but want him to be missing for the City game in 5 games time.

Wouldn't surprise me!

Also they never stated which offence it relates to. The finger gesture @ Fulham, or, the racism allegations by Evra. Or both?

Perhaps I missed it?

Chipkin9 (EIRE)

It's a three man tribumal, if they believed Surez's defence of ignorance it would all be done and dusted, So they obviously don't believe him...prepare for the worst...Bobbinred

Hi ed just wondering if liverpool are going for Rooney i mean villa and torres defo signings(seroiusly if you think im being serious stop reading) who needs suarez! I mean have liverpool got oil growing under melwood and sold it to man city(they really do buy everything)

Can people please be more realistic!

If everybody was as realistic as you the site would be as boring as you

16 Dec 2011 18:05:45
I know this question has probably been answered already but what the hell, do you think LFC will buy anyone in Jan, if so who are the stornget possibilities at the moment.
Thanks
Greg
YNWA.

The editors have said that Liverpool is seriously interested in signing Luuk de Jong from F.C. Twente. They also said that the club is interested in signing him in the summer, but interest from other clubs may force Liverpool to act in January. He is the only player that the editors have stated is likely to move in January. Liverpool has watched numerous other players there is no known interest in any of them.

That is not to say we will not sign a few players though because the club is keeping things very quiet ever since Dalglish took control.

Thanks!

Today I aquired another source of information.
Someone who works high up at Liverpool.
He's involved in the new stadium/refurbishment.
Basically it's his advice John Henry is taking in making a decision and how many seats we can fill.
That's all I can say for now.
Please don't probe for further info as I can't and won't give it yet.
only thing I can really post is that whatever road we go down we will have a different pricing structure. Mega bucks for the best seats. And cheaper options for less desirable ones. Also a massive discount for under 14s

Thanks

MIKEY

Thanks for all that great info, i feel in the loop now!

why do point out the fans that don't want Torres back - they are not that much, 3-4 fans with a burning â„–9 shirt don't represent the opinion of all the supporters.
Yes, they are gonna be haters, there are gonna be people the don't want to see Torres ever again, BUT they are less than the ones that want him back.
Besides we don't actually know why Torres left, he could have been forced to leave - there were reports that at Transfer Deadline he was seen leaving Anfield crying.

Torres was Crying with Delight that his wages were doubled!

Do you really need to protect Torres in any way, he said enough after he left for most to know the story obviously you did not read or hear his words?

Let me summarize for you he wanted to join a bigger club and chelsea were all that!

Even if it was true that there are more Liverpool fans want Torres back than don't, doesn't mean it is any more likely to happen.

JRG

Well i want him back and to be fair Chelsea were all that at the time and we were going no-where fast, i loved Torres to bits and was gutted when he went, hes the only name i have ever had on the back of my shirt.
Watch the LFC channel and see some of the goals that lad scored.
In my eyes hes welcome back anytime
Him an Suarez upfront WOW
Wishful thinking maybe!

Paul the red

I agree paul, gutted when he wanted to leave, but thought he was an idiot. he was starting to show signs of being the top striker we were used to, we'd started playing our best football for years, and just signed suarez to partner him.
don't know what he was thinking.

But i think we need to accept that situation as the one that could've been, not the one that could be.
He won't be coming back, but there are other strikers that suarez will be perfect to play alongside.

The big question - do we want Torres back or not? I've never really hated anyone in my life but I was close the day I read about his transfer request. The mouthwatering partnership between him and Suarez was here one minute and gone the next. I wanted him to fail so much at Chelsea because nobody should ever pull on a red shirt and deliberately not try. Realising that was the most hurtful part.

Anyway, as an analogy, imagine a man cheating on his wife with another woman (I'm sure it sometimes happens). Some women will go spare and boot him out and eventually realise they miss him so much and they let him come back home. Some men see it as a unexpected lifeline and will try their hardest to make it work second time around. Others will see her as a soft touch and carry on even worse than before. Which one would Torres be if he was let back in? Of course, some women, like Mrs Bobbit, would just cut his manhood off with a knife, but I'm not advocating that or we would have to start calling him 'El No knob'. Even such a crime as joining Chelsea doesn't warrant that.

Personally, part of me wants him back. I don't go along with all who say he will never be the same player. He scored 3 goals in his short time under Kenny and there have been odd games at Chelsea where he has looked sharp. I bet he realises now what a service he got from Stevie every time he makes a run and sees Fat Frank, the one-trick pony, lining up yet another shot from 40 yards. I also feel that the guilt of what he has done is laying heavy on his shoulders at Chelsea.

I watched Liverpool through the glory days from the 60's onwards and people say to me that I should be happy as I've seen success. To continue the 'women' analogy, I say that it is even worse. I liken it to being married to Miss World and then she dumps you. You've had the best and you wonder if you'll ever have it so good again. That's how I feel now (not that I've ever had Miss World - obviously and sadly) but I've seen the glory days and I'm desperate for another title. I'm ashamed to admit I got quite complacent about them in the 80's when they came along like Arriva buses.

If Torres came back and helped me to get Miss World back, in a manner of speaking, I'd probably forgive and forget.

Mate, you watched Liverpool
for half a century,
you could have had 50 miss worlds,
you could won the lottery 50 times over,
you could have been the king of England,
for 50 years,
Traveled round the world 50 times,
But all that's nothing
compared to what you have.
No-one is bigger than LFC.
Do you think Kenny did'nt warn Torres,
'once you walk out of here,
you walk alone'.

Lots of rumours going about that FSG are about to announce plans for a new 75,000 capacity stadium in Stanley Park.

These rumours seem to have come out of the blue which makes me think that there might be some substance to them.(dont know why)

Have you's heard anything? Do you think these rumours are genuine?

I personally dont think they'd let such sensitive information get out that easily myself mate.

So i'm not holding my breath, still, i could be wrong!

Not a rumour just a comment on Andy Carroll,and how things could be a lot different,three chances spring to mind.1 against Norwich last minute header narrowly wide,2 hitting the crossbar against Swansea ,3 great save from Hart against Man City,if these chances went in 3 more home victories and 6 points more on our league tally.My point is ,its a very thin line between success and so called failure,I hope Andy gets some game time over the festive programme and scores a few,because he offers us a different option and with good service he can be a nightmare for the opposition.

Andy Carrol is total poison. His ball control and passing are rubbish and his work rate is non-exsistant. Personaly i don't think KK has much faith in him. If he did he'd give him more game time to find form and fitness. There is a thin line between success and failure and Andy Carrol is on the wrong side of it. Don't get me wrong. As long as the lad is at LFC I'd like to see him doing well. But I just don't think he's good enough.

You sound like you want him to do well as well what was it you called him poison that sounds like your supporting him nice
giblet

Yes i said he's poison and at this moment in time thats what he is. That doesn't mean I don't support the lad. I support every player that plays for LFC. I just don't do it blindly. If a player is not playing well I will say it. You can stick your head in the sand and ignore what is blatently obvious if you want.

Don't forget his goal against Sunderland on the opening day, which was bisto and should have stood. Any fan calling him poison is a numpty. Andy is a Mario Gomez waiting to happen. Some fans need to stick some Bon Jovi on and keep the faith.

liverpool to sign torres for a wham bar, i personally think he'll be a superb signing...for the reserve team,
in all seriousness why do people cry to have him back, i can go on to say about him being a traitor but im a practical person. I simply think we shouldn't sign him because clearly there are far better players out there for not only a smaller transfer fee but for smaller weekly wages and a better future they may also want to actually play for the club too so ...give over please

hey eds, this is just a question can someone please help me, ive got an autographed liverpool headed notepaper complete with KDs autohraph and about 30 others from his first stint as liverpool manager, would any one have a rough idea as to how valuable it is. thankyou. billy

Worthless , but ill take it off your hands.
email deltrotter@homail.com

Not sure mate.
I have a picture of the players in the centre-circle at Anfield.
It is signed by everyone in the pitcure (Gerrard, Hamann, Owen, Carragher etc). It was from when Houllier was the manager and they used to do the circl-huddle before the start of matches.
It is in a dark wooden frame (Mahogany I think) and it has a certificate of authenticity on the back.
Anyone have any idea what this is worth?

Priceless to any LFC fan,hold on to them lads

what rumours site gets the most hits eds? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool by quite a long way. Manchester United, Rangers, Celtic and Arsenal and obviously the main site would come next. Some of the sites for the lower tier clubs (e.g. Leicester, Nottingham Forest) do better than many of the EPL sites in terms of hits.}

Better than chelsea Ed002?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - In terms of visitors the Chelsea pages are vey quiet. The sort of place to go if you want to roll one up, get a glass of wine and a good book and just go and relax.}

Hi Eds, just wondering if any of you know why Suarezs case has been delayed? Is this a good sign? Have any of you heard anything about what we can expect or what do you feel personally will happen? We'd be knackered if we lose him over the Christmas period! Robbo {Ed002's Note - It has not been delayed. legal submissions were made and evidence was given on Wednesday and Thursday. ONce the deliberations are complete the concerned parties will be informed of the findings. Subsequently there will be a press release of some sort and possibly a verbal statement.}

Oh sound! cheers for the reply!

how do use ed's know who clubs are signing and etc... ? use know as we do, use just make it sound like use know everything use dont. before 1 month ago you said liverpool are looking for diarra from real madrid on loan now use are saying there is no chance in that. just get your facts right please! {Ed002's Note - Actually I think will struggle to find me saying that Liverpool are chasing Diarra. My position has been that Lassano Diarra is playing fairly regular at Real Madrid but still may be moving in January or the summer. Anzhi have made a very significant offer but I understand Roma are very interested in the player and the player is open to a move to Rome. I appreciate that writing the post may have taken a great deal of time and effort, but why bother lying - unless you are simply another troll?}

Hi, maybe it's my system but "Disagree" buttons don't seem to work on this Banter page

What is a 'troll' {Ed002's Note - The lowest form of internet user. Typically they would be someone anonymous who throws up abusive and inflammatory posts to a fourm such as this to elicit emotionally-charged responses and to generally spoil the discussions for other or even wreck a forum completely. Examples you see range from the mildly abusive posts you have seen about me today, to those making threats about my family that turn up now and again, or those from a regular on another club page who has been trying to post this afternoon about an 8 month ban for Suarez or some really, truly appalling posts the other day that would sicken and embarrass most football supporters.}

Ed002= troll hunter!

Can't believe what the eds have to put up with.They are trying to help people by taking the time to answer questions and people try to make threats to them.I guess they get angry when they find out things like hazard is not going to sign or Torres is not going to return. Treat the eds with respect or go to newsnow.

I have some ties at Madtrid ed and can tell you that should a decent offer come in for Diarra (around 18m) they will happily let him go.

In fairness Ed002 I have never been insulting to you, never had any reason even though I have caught unnecessary verbals from you and besides its not things should be, yes I have had a few disagreements with you but always managed to be civil.

However Ed002 - 001 - brings a lot of abuse on himself by his often inflammatory remarks and deliberate attempts to bring about situations. (Not saying that you do this Ed002 I can sense your frustration being asked the same questions 100 times with people looking for the answer they want and not the reality). Then he 001 edits posts and pretends to be whiter than white, accepting the applause of the younger folk for his bravado not how moderation should work.

Sometimes whats returned is whats given.

Jon {Ed002's Note - Well Jon, in the big scheme of things we are all pretty good at sucking it up and getting on with it. You, me Ed the Impaler etc.. It's only a game after all. I shouldn't tell you this but the other Eds are all excited talking about some new Batman game and they don't know who Adam West is or how to do the Batusi. Best not to tell anyone about that.}

Let me clear things up for you... having visited this site regularly for

I don't know who u r mate but u r spot on. U forgot to say he/she (ed002) says that she wont care much about kids football when asked about any good kid that was linked to us. U know why No kid want to play for the plastic band wagon.

I suggest u don't even try to read the posts which Ed002 reply. Coz they are repeated, negative and boring.

I usually only read the posts that Ed001, macca or others respond. I asked so many times why could not she just concentrate on her beloved club and LFC site for good.

But it seems like she is a control freak among the eds.

And that's only 6 games unless you mean city in league and twice in semi final

I had noticed that, in your several replies on this subject over the last few days ed002, you'd stressed that Suarez was making the 'ignorance' defence.

I said last summer that Liverpool were interested in signing Franck Ribery. It turned out to be way off the mark but my mate is still saying that Liverpool are considering a bid.

He might be just winding me up (and as per new transfer policy it seems highly unlikely).

But given his quality and our lack of a natural right winger do any of the ED's / Macca know anything about this?

Not a rumour but a question for ed. Is aquilani likely to come back ever? And when do you think we will see the likes of silva. Suso. Stirling. Morgan and pacheco in the first team. I think they are quality young players and rodolfo has done a great job with them. Sometimes you don't know how good a player is until your forced to throw them in at the deep end. {Ed002's Note - Aqilani will not come back. Pacheco you can consider gone as well. The others will get there chance as and when they are ready - for example Sterling has only recently turned 17. Perhaps he will go onloan in January 2013 and then you will see abit of him in the 2013/2014 season.}

Thank you for your reply. I agree with what you said and would appreciate your opinion on the players mentioned and any I forgot that you think could make an impact on lfc in future. Think if we can loan most of out for experience that would be great for us.

hi Eds,

since the Villa rumour can be put to bed, i am just thinking some slightly more realistic targets -

Was it Ever Benega one of the Ed's said "would crawl over broken glass to join"? if that is the case, isnt now a good time to move?

also, why do i get the feeling that whilst Chelsea have rumoured to have been offered Higuain, and are rumoured to be in talks with athletico over a Torres+cash swap for Falcao, our most likely striker signing will be Steven Fletcher?

being realistic sucks!

Fletcher is an underrated. Would be a good signing.

Liverpool are set to swoop for 3 brazilians Sandro from tottenham to cover for lucas and add competition in midfield.

Jadson from Shakhtar sim to nasri and would add the creativity and composure we need in the final third.

Leandro Damiao from internacional complete striker puts the ball in the net and record speaks for its self so far and hes only 22 bonus.

im not saying these will all come in january becasue for the to happen we will have to part way with around 55m

I'm saying none of the 3 will arive at lfc.

Ed read Kennys alledged statement regarding signings.And think you'ld agree,it doesnt really tell us either way if we'll be in market.However im a bit concerned,he"seems",to be leaning to going with strikers weve got.Now without getting into the Carrol(useless or not)debate.Or Suarez(more a provider, v- luck)We NEED goals,and aint scoring anywhere near enough.If Suarez Wasnt facing at least one ban,and Andy was on fire,we still would need more goalscoring quality,merely if they were injured.Dirk had run last season,but hardly prolific.I really hope this is Kenny playing cards close,or dampening expectancy,as jan'window is tough.As otherwise im very concerned.Whats your view?P.s.Soz for waffle,but also Podolski reported on Talksport,to be up for a move"abroad!".Mr.Whinge {Ed002's Note - This pretty much supports the view we have been explaining for quite some time that there may well be an addition squad based striker bought in (hence looking at the like of Luuk De Jong) but most of the shopping was done in the summer. Like it or not Carroll is a Liverpool player and if he plays and scores against Aston Villa we will not be able to move for "I told you that he would come good" posts. The Podolski situation remains as I have explained on numerous occasions, but as everyone one is being pretty good this morning: Schalke, Lazio, Spurs and Arsenal have shown an interest but he could decide to move to Turkey with Galatasary or possibly Russia with interest from several clubs including Anzhi and Zenit. If he does move to England, Arsenal is certainly the most likely destination. Liverpool will certainly have watched Podolski and will be well aware of what he would cost and the sort of deal he would accept. They may wish to enter the market for him and make a bid - but for now that is not where we are.}

Kuyt is a poacher and struggles to score when played wide right. Buy a winger and move him central?

Interesting concept about what to do with Ref's and their errors. Ol' 'Arry from HMRC says we should have two trying to wreck the game. What a terrible idea. The biggest issue with ref's is the in-consistency from game to game. Take the Newcastle-Chelsea game the other weekend and the Spurs-Bolton game. Can you imagine if those decisions by Attwell and Dean were in the same match? In one half you get Attwell sending off the defender 45 yards from goal and then down the other end you get Dean giving a yellow for player through on goal and hauled to the ground on the edge of the box. It would be absolute carnage.

I understand ref's will always make mistakes and although I feel many ref's sub-consciously are afraid of making decisions against the bigger clubs, United in particular (Webb I am convinced has had his integrity tarnished because he has been lured into thinking he is the best by far and did not want his reputation to be exposed to the fergie treatment) on the whole they do a good job and we need to see their errors subjectively.

I didn't watch the hoof it merchants last Sunday but looking at the major incidents there was no way Hoy/Foy (that was hilarious btw) could have spotted that elbow on the line, with his position at the pace the ball was smashed across goal. So I fail to see the clamour that he was a disgraceful ref.

Take Kevin Friend's performance against us in the Fulham game. Whilst I feel he had a poor second half, I wouldn't moan if he ref's us again. On the whole he is a damn good ref. The issue on the night was probably Friend being more and more obstinate towards Liverpool the more the players moaned at him.

If you take a look at Cricket, this referral business is killing the game and cricket has the time to look upstairs. You'll be getting games starting at 3 and not finishing until 6. Players cannot afford to wait around, especially in winter for 5 mins at a time injuries etc.

It would kill the debates overnight. The majority of talking points are about the ref and I think that should continue whether you get the rub of their decisions or not. I do believe they should get more help and that comes in the form of the role of the assessor in the stand. The influence and barmy rules that put more pressure on the ref needs to be alleviated i.e. this stupid rule of booking players for removing their shirts for instance. Failure of the ref to do so (booking him), renders him liable to miss out on a game. The FA has to be more pro-active in relation to topics like diving and start dishing out big retrospective bans for players who dive and cheat, like 6 games. Some of the dives are that good, you cannot tell in real time and only when you see it in slow mo do you see that the ref has been conned. The instance with Terry getting a booking in the Wolves game was a classic bit of cheating and he gets away with it, therefore giving the incentive to do it again and again. Had he been hit with another 2 games on top, you stop that practice. Mourinho devised this scheme and UEFA hit him hard thereafter. Our FA? Wet blankets.

Technology is actually making the ref's life hell. I am amazed at the reactions of many fans to decisions after they've had the luxury of seeing it 2, 3 times and in slow mo. Ignorance on the part of the fan and the fact they have never reffed is to blame.

How would you make technology work on offsides for instance? If you refer an offside decision to the 4th or tv ref, players will be coached to automatically stop playing when the flag goes up so even if the striker was onside you could not award a goal because the players had stopped and you could justifiably claim that had you not stopped (you know the Barthez incident all those years ago that nearly worked) you would have prevented the scoring opportunity in any event? You cannot say 'oh you can for some offsides but not for others'.

It's part and parcel of the game, human error. We just need to be a little more aware and less patriotic when decisions go against us. Easier said than done, admitedly

Bob the Red

Too true mate, but still they get on my friggin nerves sometime, i am all for video tech for big incidents and goal line as well though as its reasonably well utilised in rugby league.
huddz red

I think there should be a rule that no player is to come within 5 yards (or so) of the ref after he blows up for a decision, and cut out this nonsense when players get in his face disputing a free kick, penalty etc.

Dara D

Bob the red, what a brilliant post! For what it's worth I am with you in every aspect, superb!
Nothing more to say

Chris in Tamworth

I'm not sure if football can close its eyes and shut its ears to technology Bob.
It's more a case that technology has overtaken how we watch the game.
Whilst most grounds are full, with lengthy waiting lists for season tickets, there are millions watching on tv. The majority of footballing fans are now on armchairs, unfortunately or not. It's a fact also that tv revenue is now the largest contributor to football income.
So it's perhaps who the footballing authorities feel the game is most for the benefit of. By that, I mean if you're at the match you see things as it happens, one time only. It's done and over with and, as you say, an enjoyable part of the experience. You have a shout and moan, but that's part of it.
However, for the tv audience, the experience is different. The incident is replayed from multiple angles, analysed.
The experience, and therefore reaction, of the tv fan is much different.
Where decisions are blatantly wrong, the feeling is one of outrage, you've been cheated etc.

I personally think that rugby has got the best possible compromise between the two situations. The ref is left to run the game as s/he see fit, except for key decisions (usually scores) and then referred to the tv monitor. This actually adds to the experience of the fan in the ground ; the tension before the decision is announced. As well as satisfying the tv viewer, who may know better than the ref what has just happened.

So, I think there is a place for technology to be used. But sparingly, for scoring / penalty decisions only.

The Real KB

Please explain how referral's are killing cricket. What a load of rubbish along with the rest of your you know better,ill lecture the masses with another yawn fest. Think you've got a crush on John Terry,you mention him in at least half your ramblings.

J.C

Tony Pulis suggested a tennis style type of technology. It wouldn't be a stop-start thing like american football. but the managers could have one or two "appeals" for each match where key desicions can be challenged. good idea in my opinion

Technology is the way of the future. Tell old Blatter and pals to get with the programme.

I hate to moan Eds, because i really like this site.. But surely if somebody repeats a question, just don't post it. Do you know how annoying it is when i read a question i would also like answered and at the end it says "use the search function".. If the pages weren't filled with repeated questions, we wouldn't have to use the search function because it'd take 10 minutes to scroll through a day of posts. I know some people might be annoyed at their rumours/questions being deleted, but it'd save you and other readers a lot of time :) Jusy my point of view.

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed002's Note - The problem, Adam, is that we are in a complete no win situation. We are trying to educate people to read through the posts and not repeatedly ask questions (what time will Torres arrive at Melwood?)- but they simply cannot be bothered. We also try and encourage folks to use search function where it is likely an answer has already been given (are we buying Higuain/Damiao) but they can't be bothered. A lot of folks get pissed if they keep seeing the same repeated answers, and that is understandable. But equally they get pissed if we cut their questions because it has already been answered. Then we have the decent and bright users who are interested in reading through the posts and will use the search function but get miffed by all the clutter. We have tried several things in the past and yesterday started significantly cutting the dross - much of it will go in to the Dodgy Rumour bucket. We will try and keep the Rumours page as decent rumours and minimise duplication, but expect folks to read the rumours and use the search function. The Banter page will contain the actual banter and some of the "care not" stuff. The rest will be deleted or moved to the Dodgy Rumour page. The "teams" listings clutter the site up and we will see if our IT Guru can figure out how to include the reply function within the Teams page to declutter elsewhere. As we move toward January and the transfer window and the collective orgasm that is achieved everytime a player looks like he is signing, this should keep the site much cleaner.}

Fair point Ed, isee your problem. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Personally i think if people are upset about their duplicate post being deleted they need to man up or shut up. haha

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed002's Note - We are aware of the issues and we are aware that it is impossible to please everyone, but we will try and please you.}

I keep hearing rumours about a defensive midfilder from Uruguay. Walter Gargano. He playes for Napoli. 27 years old. Is Available for under 5m.
A good replacement for Luca while he is away. Podolski is of course another target together with a handful other strikers. Recent rumors about huntelaar is interesting, a very good poacher.

Had a terrific day out in the bush yesterday.
Once again I proved my nifty marksmanship.
Shot down two huge, fat, super fit buck and a zebra.
He, he! Talk about having an eye for quality.

If only I could say the same for our manager.
Honestly he'd make a second, even third-rate hunter.
Poor eye for quality and wouldn't know good buck (i.e Mata) even if it dropped down on his doorstep.

Anyway, eds, I was wondering how alive the possibility of bringing Rafa back is.
I've earmarked him for the DoF role. The man can sure spot a talent.

Sure, Comolli is good, I did say that the other day.
However, the bloke can be troublesome and full of s**t.
He very nearly cocked-up the Suarez deal.
He'll be more trouble than he's worthe long-term.

In any case, Rafa is better. It's utterly regrettable that a man of his abilities and intelligence should be sat there doing nowt when we could benefit a great deal from his talents.

Lastly, there seems to be movement stadium-wise.
So eds and other learned gent, how much capacity is contemplated for Stanley Park? 70, 80k?
What you reckon?
(And please, don't say "wait for an announcement". I just want your opinion.)

Melville

Starting to think melville is rafa lol

Melville,
can I suggest another sport you,
go running through a pack of lions
(without your gun) wearing only
a Man United hat and scalf.
Its an old game called 'Evolution'
Like all Man United supporters
you have the brain of a Neaderthal
and football is really not for you mate.

Hi Eds,
Just a quick question. I notice everyone is concentrating on which players we are after with January coming up.... However Is there any update on the stadium issues? Are we redeveloping Anfield or building a new stadium? Thanks {Ed002's Note - Please just wait for an announcement.}

if liverpool want to be a top club then they need to buy top players. instead of getting decent players for around 10 million why dont we get 1 world class player for 30 million. we would only need a world class striker in january and we would be sorted for this season

This is said every year, problem is £30m players are in short supply especially for a club out of champions league football, then the club has to decide whether the expensive albeit talented individual would fit into the system and philosophy of the club, and that the salary structure is not compromised.

We tried paying over 30 mil for a striker and we ended up with a donkey who should be giving rides to kids on blackpool beach

curious case of suarez - evra play where a defender is attacking and an attacker is defending!

How many players are we looking to bring in in January? Also, what areas?

Would you like me to tell you the winning lottery numbers for today as well?

Speedy :) (Sorry EDs just getting frustrated with these repetitive questions when all they have to do is scroll down)

Looka thats the EDs job to tell them to scroll down you killed the punch line

Hi Ed's

Any reason only 1 in 5 posts of mine get posted? None so far this morning.

Chuck Norris {Ed002's Note - The reason was that yesterday they were all absolute rubbish, now only some are rubbish and some are acceptable drivel so a few are making through.

Yeah sorry about that eds...stole your thunder ;)

Speedy {Ed002's Note - Fine with us. If I say seven and can only name four that are nailed on you cannot believe the bother I get over the other three. I will leave that for you to handle from now on.}

Ha ha ok I will try my best

Speedy

Good evening everyone,
Look Torres is not coming. AVB has announced it that Torres will not be leaving Chelsea in January or in the summer because he is not for sale at any price.
Additionally, I do not understand these rumours about Kuyt leaving. Not happening. He will finish his career with us.

Cheers,
SSRED11

Kuyt will leave in the summer

The squad hardly needs to be trimmed and KUYT is a great team member .

Ed's, do you know if we have looked at Albrighton from Villa at all and would he be available? Very good young player to play down the right. Doesn't seem to be a regular with Mcleish.

Chuck Norris {Ed002's Note - I don't think Liverpool have looked at him and certainly there will be no January move.}

Eds, it's started again, I have noticed people saying Torres back for 20million. NEVER. He's is just like Owen. Owen went to Madrid cus he thought we wre going nowhere we won the champions league. Same for torres he thought success was round the corner wit chelsea and we have beat them since he joined them lol. Carling cup and 4th place is ours and 5th place and Thursday nights for chelsea... Soldado is the man for 20 million. Rush type

Where struggling to break top 4 and there in top 4 and champions league
