Just listend to the podcast & really enoyed it. Though I was a tad dissapointed, as I was expecting Ed 001 to sound more like Brian Blessed for some reason. Keep up the good work guys.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Brian asked me to tone my voice down so he could still keep getting the roles that call for a Brian Blessed voice, rather than losing them to me....}

16 Aug 2015 21:53:50
Ed001 reminded me of ringo star. Lol
Wasn't expecting such a strong accent actually I seem to remember ed001 saying he's not lived in Liverpool a long time.
Can't wait to hear ed002s accent.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no real accent Mikey - I was born and raised in the US but left there in 1981 since then I have mainly lived in Monaco and the South of England.}

16 Aug 2015 20:44:31
You have a strange accent ed001.
I can hear the scouse twinge but I can't work out where you rest of your accent comes from.
You sound like a heinz51 with a bit of everything thown in

I always imagined you to be or sound like brian reade, not sure why
You sound like a pipe and slippers man as well to me, older than what I thought.

Sorry for not being so complimentry !!!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - hahaha that's ok mate, my accent is very mixed up, years of moving round the country has left it a mess. As for the pipe and slippers, I do have slippers, they gave me them free at the last hotel I stayed in and I am going to wear them until they fall apart!

As for not being so complimentary, compared to the comments I was expecting when I did the podcast, that was a glowing compliment. I have always hated the sound of my own voice, which is why I always used to turn down the radio work that got offered when we first started the site.}

17 Aug 2015 06:58:18
That's okay Ed, almost everyone hates their own voice.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if only that was true, but I have yet to meet a woman who doesn't love to hear their own voice nagging away.....}

17 Aug 2015 08:28:41
Great podcast. I thought you sounded like a fusion of Ian Holloway and Roy Evans. I hope you don't look like that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - damn you must have seen my pics!}

Just saw that b-rod ( cool nickname i know ) was at the citeh game today. Do you know if a season ticket was part of the sterling deal? (Just banter boys don't shoot me down :) )Heres hoping for a thrashing of bournemouth tommorow benteke and firmino both on the scoresheet

Kovacic to Madrid virtually done I thought he'd be the ideal replacement for inesta but I guess they can't buy atm. Good buy one we perhaps should have got over the line although strictly speaking we don't need him

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have explained about Barcelona's efforts for the player.}

I'm going to raise a couple of points from the podcast and invite replies from readers :

1. Rodgers doesn't watch the youth players - have a look at the LFC website. There are 27 x Academy employees in an independent set-up. It costs a million odd quid to run, so I guess that most of those costs are wages.
Don't you suppose that Rodgers meets the Academy Director and U21 / U18 Managers on a regular basis to discuss progress ?
Promising kids are invited into the First Team Squad, so there is a clear pathway there.
It's the next leap that the issue occurs.
That and the recruitment of new players that interferes with introducing youth players. So recruitment is a problem.

2. Rodgers doesn't watch or check new players - he will obviously be aware of British players so that is not a problem. But European / global players, is he supposed to travel the planet checking out potential players ?
Haha, we're not talking about Geoff Twentyman in his car driving around northern Britain here.
If you say Rodgers should fly wherever, how many times suffices ; once, twice three times ?
C'mon.
That's the scouts job. So again a recruitment problem.

3. And finally there is the FSG policy, of age and price. Fit that into the above conundrum.

Rodgers is what he is. A young, inexperienced manager in relative terms. If you want to sack him for being inexperienced, fine. Ask FSG why they employed him.

I think that the scouting function is too hit and miss, and the process of getting in fringe youth players is lazy.
I'm not sure that these things should be laid solely at the manager's door.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

16 Aug 2015 17:25:51
The role of the manager in 2015 isn't what t used to be at the very top level.
For comparison I'd like to know how much Mourinho, Ancellotti and Guardiola watch the youth players and scout their own signings.
Then any criticism would at least be more objective.

Agree5 Disagree10

16 Aug 2015 17:28:50
Errr, I could agree on point 2. mate, though I believe the problem mentioned was more like the lack of background checks.
However, not watching the youth setups and the PLAYERS ON LOAN is a bad move for the manager. There is no way there could be complete communication between the academy staff and the manager, as they work in different levels. THe eds have mentioned that the academy staff have been pushing forward players that BR refused to play. Fair play if he had bothered to actually watch the lads and gain a complete undderstanding of their abilities, but he didn't. Also, it would be a huge boost for the youth players to know that the first team manager is monitoring them.
He isn't. Same with loan players.

Agree3 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 17:38:21
To be fair aswell he's just been shown in the crowd at the city Chelsea game , perhaps he's listened to the podcast

Agree5 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 17:48:23
All the managers you've mentionef Ron work under sporting directors who will do much of the recruitment work. Rodgers wants all the responsibility but can't be arsed to do the work. He'd rather woo his bit on the side or run a property empire.

Agree7 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 17:57:00
Drigan, fair points.
The youth players do get invited in to the first team squad, there are a number in it already. But the log jam occurs there. That and the haphazard loan arrangements, as you mentioned.
This is partly down to Rodgers, he could throw some of the kids in more. Let's see if any get a chance this year.
But whose job is it to manage the loanees ?
Youth Development ?
First Team Manager ?
Perhaps the eds could advise on this. We know Chelsea employ liason staff, but who oversees them ?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea has a structure that means there are regular meetings with the management team about the progress that the loanees are making.}

16 Aug 2015 18:19:20
Who actually does the leg work ed002, finds and allocates specific teams to the loanees. I can't imagine Jose spending hours on the phone doing this ?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea already have a formal relationship with a number of sides in Europe and in Brazil. Meetings are ongoing with a French side to also build a relationship. Typically the Technical Director handles most of this.}

16 Aug 2015 18:50:40
Brendan definitely listened to the podcast :)

Agree3 Disagree1

16 Aug 2015 19:17:34
Could he be learning Benny ? I'm sure he knows it's last chance saloon, has someone had a long chat with him because to be fair I can't remember seeing him at other matches doing his homework ( not that that's proof of anything ) .I really hope so because it can only benefit us in the long run .

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - O'Driscoll is old school and likes to watch future opponents when possible, while Rodgers preferred to use analysts.}

16 Aug 2015 20:06:55
If BR can't be arsed to do the D
OF part of his job on this issue, he should leave it to a true DOF to do or take a hike. He ants the job but couldn't be arsed to do the job. Pathetic work ethic!

Agree4 Disagree5

16 Aug 2015 21:29:06
Some interesting points raised. My opinion.
1, Rodgers doesn't watch the kids. the suggestion is that he doesn't. Is the 27 staff he meets with an excuse not to? No. I think it shows he doesn't acknowledge seeing these players in a match situation as important.
2, does he need to scout players. Yes! For example, Watching video only shows what the cameraman wants to show. Movement off the ball is one of the basic things not covered in this. Is he supposed to travel the planet watching players? I think that is an obvious answer. The scouts do there job identifying players then the manager who lives or dies by signings makes the final decision. Otherwise Rodgers might as well work under the DoF that he was initially asked to do. He either wants full control or he doesn't?
3, FSG policy? If as suggested in point 2, this is the responsibility of the scouts, why has this point been raised? But. Has Rodgers bought into this policy?Does Rodgers have a policy? Ilori may disagree!
I think Rodgers joins a distinct list of people honoured to manage players and clubs whose ability are greater than their own!

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Aug 2015 17:00:05
it seems like if one of these moves happen, all of them will or their respective teams wouldn't sanction selling them. Kind of a strange situation.

Kovacic to Madrid.
Lucas to Inter.
Illaramendi to Liverpool.

Out of all those I think inter would be getting the best deal. I do think all of these moves could benefit their teams, though I don't see Kovacic getting much time.

Illaramendi doesn't really make sense given our recent setup but who knows. I do think he is a quality player. It only hurts Can though. I would much rather we sign him than Cheryshev though.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

16 Aug 2015 17:18:44
I would drop Milner and play Can alongside a top class holding player.

Agree1 Disagree15

16 Aug 2015 17:44:49
Wait a min. Do we even have Illaramendi? Ed002? Because all eds replies i can remember say otherwise. Though Harry would certainly get the dlp he's been craving for if he signs

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 18:32:26
I would play Can as the holding mid

Agree6 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 16:43:19
Yaya You're always looking for the ball, he's always an out for his defenders, we missed that last season let's hope our midfield gives options to the defenders this season. Think Can will be our best option in this regard if given the chance, he really wants to get involved judging by the game time he got against Stoke.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

16 Aug 2015 17:27:39
Yaya seems to alternate his good seasons with his 'couldn't give a toss' seasons. This is a good season.

Agree7 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 17:39:16
He has been awful in the second half.

Agree0 Disagree4

16 Aug 2015 17:42:44
Same could be said of our manager Ron but I haven't read your posts on that issue?

Agree8 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 18:39:27
Yaya is hit and miss. He's constantly played deep for some unknown reason,city for me messed up,they bought 2 ok defensive midefielders instead of one class player for yaya to operate with. He looks best driving forward committing players to stopping him and drawing them out of their set ups, you saw it today when he got away from Matic in the 1st half at times,this left more space for the widemen,particularly sterling and kolorov,when cahill or terry were forced to come out. He's good at ticking over possession too spreading out wide,creating space for silva between the lines.

If City finally buy a decent DM he could fill his potnetial,but they won't so he'll never quite perform the way city need him to and he'll leave gaps exposed. For me in the second half today shows exactly how he can't be arsed sometimes,he spat his dummy out on a few occasions when matic played on him. He doesn't like the physical stuff when he's not winning.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 20:08:27
You won't read any of that from Ron, Mcgoveb because he will deflect and blame you for BR's woes

Agree2 Disagree4

Not Liverpool related but you have to admire this lad

Aguero is the only player Real Madrid simply cannot buy.
He is a 5ft 8inch Machine. He is simply making that back 4 look like human garbage.

Believable5 Unbelievable7

16 Aug 2015 16:55:32
On par with Suarez as the best centre forwards in the world. Not counting Messi and Ronaldo obviously

Agree7 Disagree1

16 Aug 2015 17:02:07
He's not making them look like human garbage? He scored a good goal and had some other chances. But he has had really good service. The only quiet players in their attack so far have been silva and much to my delight, Sterling.

Agree4 Disagree2

16 Aug 2015 17:20:09
Hardly plays 20 games a season, but always end up scoring 20 a season. What a wonderful little player.

Agree9 Disagree1

16 Aug 2015 17:29:17
I don't know how City have kept hold of him.
He's up there with Suarez, Messi and Ronaldo but he's playing in a much more competitive league.
He's pure class

Agree8 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 17:40:48
Ron

One reason being unlike others at city, he along with silva loves the club and it's not purely down to money.
Aguero is the face of the club and the next generation would idolize him. He would become a legend there.

If the kovacic rumours are true then I hope that does not mean illarmendi comes to us. We missed the trick with not signing kovacic so just leave it at that. We don't need another Allen. We should be looking to keep Lucas but Rogers is never too far from making blunders with players he doesn't rate.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

16 Aug 2015 16:28:34
i don't think there will be anymore first team purchases.

Agree8 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 16:38:46
He is no Allen mate. He is on another level and probably would go on to become as good as Modric.
His dribbles and the way he carry the ball forward from the back 2 is simply brilliant.
Him alongside any decent DM would make us title contenders. He is another Carzola.

Agree0 Disagree11

16 Aug 2015 20:11:35
Allen is the last mid in the pecking order at LFC and comparing him to Kovacic is just crazy. Kovacic would've been an upgrade on our mid had we not stupidly gave 31m in wages to Milner, who is still not needed.

Agree2 Disagree4

16 Aug 2015 21:39:33
Clearly reading his post Kman92 was comparing Allen to Illara and not Kovacic. He even said we missed a trick not signing Kovacic.

Holy shit was that the cost of the Milner deal ?

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Aug 2015 01:10:57
Yes that's right shez I was referring to illarmendi when I compared him to Allen. And EG, if you are saying illarmendi can be the next Modric then delusional is an understatement, sorry to say that. If you are claiming kovacic could then I would totally agree but in a more attacking sense. Kovacic would have been an upgrade on all our current midfielders, which is why Barcelona and Madrid want him. He would of been a vanity buy though. So let's just keep the squad as it is and settle.

16 Aug 2015 15:00:38
Going back to the podcast Ed, you referred to managing the Reds as all consuming (my words not yours). I would put Rafa in that category!! I think it became a problem for him because he couldn't let go of the reins and trust in his staff more. My question is do you think that Rafa had the passion, commitment and determination to drive us forward?
I personally think that Rafa could win us the league with the current squad!

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - Rafa had a similar issue to Rodgers, in that he didn't watch players he bought either. He trusted his scouts, hence why he had never even seen Aquilani play before he arrived.}

16 Aug 2015 17:05:28
if they was alive i would love us to resign shankly or paisley , but i bet some on here would still go for rafa , its not wise for a manager to go back to a club they have managed once unless your one of the best managers in the world like the special one , i don't understand why the fans who want rafa back never see the bad points of his management , one occasion always sticks i'm my mind , it was when we needed a win and he took torres off and stevie g scratched his head in amazement , now if that what this poster wants then god help us , let's see what he does at real madrid , if he gets sacked before the end of the season it would not suprise me,i don't think they will win the spanish league , to me rafa is a control freak , he got a lot of money to spend on players and then cried to the press and the fans that he never got the money he wanted, if he did get all the money he wanted then the club would have went into admistration , i just don't know why some fans still go on about rafa becoming our manager again they should put it to bed and move on like the rest of the world have , but it would be good to hear other fans views on rafa becoming the manager again and why or why not , of course i'm in the not catogry

Agree0 Disagree4

16 Aug 2015 20:17:18
Agreed, Brock! The Rafa lovers always gave me a huge laugh each time they would lobby for his return on these boards because they would only say the good things he did and conveniently omit all his dreadful mistakes and how his ego cost us the PL.

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Aug 2015 14:53:25
hey lfc fans.
so first game at anfield tomorrow, tough game but the team should really express themselves and make it known they mean business this year.

i have to say. i think until the right personnel and right formation is played then i still see liverpool struggling for goals.
why?

cos lallana never gets into the box when ibe whips it in. and the same for ibe if lallana has it on the left hand side
benteke occupied by 2/3 defenders and coutinho stays outside of the box.
the only reason why lfc won last week was from a long range shot.
the formation and players are not balanced. i personally think
two up front has to be the right move to get goals. and move the ball forward quicker.
we need people in the box. so we have some good attackers on the ball i think just not enough shooters. or goal threats in the boxif that makes sense. ings and origi and benteke. 2 of these guys has to play. in my opinion

thoughts guys?>

Believable4 Unbelievable1

16 Aug 2015 16:27:52
I'm with you red lobster

Everytime we have the ball we seem that slow that the opposition defence is already in place.

When we break fast there's whoever has the ball coming forward and benteke up top.

Never been a fan of the loan striker defiantly think we would benefit with two up top.

The only problem being though is that is one less midfield spot for the 20 midfielders Rodgers has bought.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 17:34:11
Not a Lallana fan. He should be a squad player. I rate him on a similar level of effectiveness as Allen. Busy, good touch but too easily knocked off the ball.

Agree1 Disagree8

16 Aug 2015 20:20:52
Comparing Allen to Lallana is just wrong and in fact, they don't even play the same position. Also if Lallana is a squad player, what does that say about your BFF who lobbied for him to be signed for a small fortune of 25m? I await your excuse.

Agree6 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 22:08:21
Did I say they play in the same position?
Rtfp Ohio, I said "in terms of effectiveness".

Lallana's signing tells me what I've been saying for years, our recruitment and scouting are utter dross and have been for the course of many managers. Andy Carroll? Stewart Downing? Joe Cole? Paul Konchesky?

It's not a recent phenomenon if you know anything about LFC.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 14:37:50
Just watched the Wolves - Hull game. Connor Coady was playing for Wolves and looked very good. Shame it didn't work out for him here, if he had been given more opportunities I think he could have been a regular in the 1st team squad.
Ah well hopefully he works his way back up to the prem and who knows one day he could end up back at Anfield.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

16 Aug 2015 14:29:29
I really enjoyed the podcast and thought it was very well done especially as it was your 1st one (well 2nd apparently!. Ha ha), I'm sure they'll get better and better the more you do as well. I did laugh though when you were talking about how much time Fergie spent watching youth players and thought how much Utd could have done with Pique and Pogba over the last few seasons. I suppose it just goes to prove the point that you'll never know how good a player could or will be until they get a good run of games at the top level!! That's why I'd rather see young players going out on loan to championship or other premier league clubs rather than play in the reserves, but I guess unless the club is monitoring their progress they're not making the most of the situation, which is disappointing.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - well Pique wanted to go back to Barca so it didn't matter how good he was. As for Pogba, he refused to go with the agent of Fergie's choosing and that was always the death knell for youth players at United.}

16 Aug 2015 15:21:29
I'm sure there was more to it than pure ability but it just reinforces the point that yourself and many other posters have made that unless players are given the opportunity or we have people in the club to spot the ability how many top draw players could we allow to slip through the net! Ilori being the perfect example of someone who could be excellent but unless he's given the chance we'll never really know, that is until he moves on proves himself and we regret never giving him the the opportunity.

Timo, many on here will reply by sayin, "if BR isn't playing them, then they must be crap" or "if they are good enuff, they will make it elsewhere" or "there is just no room for them so they should just be loaned OT" or some other useless and pathetic excuse to explain why BR won't give them chances

Hey Ed01

Loved the podcast.

It provided a really good and fresh insight into the club.

The talking point that particularly engaged me was the amount of time he dedicates to his job off the training pitch. He doesn't watch academy players, he doesn't watch loaned players, he doesn't do background checks on potential recruitments.

Does he at least watch potential recruitments that he's personally identified, e.g. Benteke, Lovren, etc? Or does he once again just merely read the scout reports and stat sheets recommended by scouts?

Because I too find his lack of dedication to those said areas really worrying.

No one can doubt that he has a burning passion for the game, but there's a difference between that, and living/breathing the game.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he does watch videos (well dvds, showing my age there) but there is no substitute for watching it live really. You can see things that the cameras don't when you are at the games.}

16 Aug 2015 14:35:05
Lol, I'm only 20 yet still call them videos too. I was born early enough to enjoy the last of the golden VHS age.

That's confusing. It's like he doesn't give a stuff and is just half-arsed about it.

So what was he doing in Rome during last season then?

{Ed001's Note - seems to have been a break mate.}

16 Aug 2015 14:55:10
Watching it live is good for only the area of the pitch your sat at in my opinion. I enjoy match day for the fact your going to watch your team play with your mates/kids etc but I'd argue that it's easier to watch on tele. You just miss the atmosphere, and the missus goes mental when you jump up shouting and clapping ha

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not true mate, the camera doesn't show you all the off the ball stuff. If you are scouting a player you have to go to a game to get a full picture of what they do.}

16 Aug 2015 16:41:28
I agree entirely ed, what I mean is, on tele you get much better on the ball action. It's easier to see :))

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I do agree in a lot of respects it is better, for an overall view of the game and to get a better look at incidents. It is purely when you scout a player you need to just watch him and not the game itself.}

16 Aug 2015 12:44:00
Bennyballer and ed001 serious credit, really enjoyable podcast and I think there are endless opportunities to do more down that line also. Was really nice to hear the two of you talking so genuinely and clearly about topics your passionate about n I'm sure there are others around who also deserve real credit as well and as I don't know who you are I'll just say thanks to everyone involved. Love some of the ideas people are posting in as well!

Back to Liverpool however what would people be happy with tomorrow and what do you realistically expect.

For me the two are quite similar first and foremost under both has to be the 3 points obviously. After that I would like to see maybe a solid 2-0 performance where we control the game a bit better and hopefully benteke to get off the mark. Fancy him for one tomorrow!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

16 Aug 2015 12:18:47
Listened to the podcast. Great work guys. It was quite wonderful, especially the part about how Shankly and Paisley breathed and lived football. And yes, the little anecdote about Shankly playing football with the liverpool supporters on the platform was nothing less than enchanting.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, when I was told that story about Shanks it made me realise how unlucky I was to miss out on his era.}

Long time reader first time poster.

How I'd like to see a front 3, of countinho, BigBen and roberto at the end of a diamond, play going forward.

Ben - with his physicality and speed dropping between the centre backs and fullbacks could create spaces for the brazilians to thrive. His presence could have a similar effect as Suarez by drawing defenders out of position.

I wouldn't like to see couts n Roberto being limited to playing centrally or out wide. Instead I'd like them to be given the freedom play where they find space. The separate their roles by having couts play in front of the opposition's defence where his creativity and vision would work wonders.

While I'd ask roberto to look to run in behind the defence into spaces opened up by Ben. Where he can pick up layoffs from Ben or through balls from couts.

This all depends on Rodgers though and whether he'd be okay going back to how we played in the 13/14 season. More direct n high tempo.

Thoughts eds n reds?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2015 13:29:01
I like them as a front 3. The issue being you can't play a diamond and 3 forwards. That' would leave 3 defenders, 2 of the 3 mids would have to go wide leaving you short in the middle.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 14:52:16
I see coutinho as the tip of the diamond but given the freedom to roam so that he can find pockets of space to work his magic.
With hendo n Milner either side of the diamond they have the legs they can cover for clyne and Gomez, who could provide width when they push forward.

Hi Eds, listened to the Podcast, thnx for the efforts and it was very informative.

Regarding Klopp I always thought that he turned us down, it is indeed unbelievable that we didn't even try to get him in.

Anyways, would love to have him but I have this very bad feeling that he will end up at United.

Lets pray to the footballing gods that doesn't happen!

Regarding your views on BR and this season, though I agree with some of it, I will still wait and see.

I think we should come to know with the first 10 fixtures. I think we can judge by October end if there is really any improvement compared to last season.

How many points would you realistically hope for?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I am glad you enjoyed it, and you would be silly to take what anyone says as absolute as none of us can see the future, so it is right you wait and see. Points? After ten fixtures I am thinking you mean? I would hope for 20+, and I think that is a very realistic target.}

16 Aug 2015 15:00:03
Ed I think 20+ points after first 10 fixtures has to be achieved, otherwise we may end up around 6th or 7th by December.

Its just a thought, but I noticed on my phone the pod stopped playing when I opened another page to browse- it would be great if the pod could carry on whilst other pages were open.

{Ed033's Note - i'll have to look into it as i don't have a solution at the moment.

Quick question for ed1 then - if BR does get the sack after bad results or some other reason, will that mean we will more than likely loose o'driscoll too ? As the new manager would like to bring in his own team

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - that would be a major possibility yes.}

Ed is o'driscoll working on the defensive side of coaching ?

15 Aug 2015 23:20:34
Ed001 and Benny. awesome guys, thank you.

Just to summarise Ed001.

Klopp. Even though he said he wanted 6 months away, as far as LFC are concerned nothing is likely to happen at Christmas time?

Rogers IS tactically incapable though the squad is good enough for a top 4 spot. This has to assume the new back room will have little effect because if we don't finish in the top 4 its 5th 6th 7th or worse.

Brendan "Houdini" Rogers will likely blag his continuation as managed even if top four is not achieved.

What makes all this so much worse for me is that you are very obviously in the know and as such my hopes and dreams have been shattered. Thanks mate :)

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - sorry mate.}

15 Aug 2015 23:05:27
Really enjoyed the podcasts, I think it's a much more effective way to convey tactics than on a post, very articulate explanations from Ed001. It was about time someone actually pointed out why Barça were so effective too! This notion of them just passing has become very wearing in recent times. If only it was a little longer, as I've heard personally on many occasions. Great effort lads!!!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - longer? We set out with the intention to only do 20min! That was just me getting carried away and we thought we best cut it there before it ended up taking a week for anyone to listen to. I will have to do a poll I think, whether to do longer, shorter or about the same.}

16 Aug 2015 09:07:41
That was excellent and really enjoyed listening to ballers candid opinion and ed01s analysis. Just excellent, more of the same please. Maybe you can do a weekly poll for the topic of the next podcast?

Oh and the stuff on shanks and paisley and the way they felt about football just brilliant. It highlights for me just why brendan is NOT the right man for this club. Anyhoo thanks for this i look forward to the next one.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

16 Aug 2015 09:59:43
ed001, if i may give some points on the length. imo, shorter, but more frequent podcast would get you more viewers in general, as people tend to skip past 1 hour+ due to just the time it takes to listen to it.

however if the podcast is intended for regulars, the 1 hour limit should be fine as you'll always get the regular listeners.

but i wouldve thought the intention is to attract more people to visit the sites, i'd recommend 10-20 min max.

just my opinion, in how the internet normally view podcasts.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, it is more about just giving something more to those who use the sites really, than attracting new people.}

16 Aug 2015 10:55:41
I tend to disagree kaizer. 10 0r even 20 mins is not enough to really get a discussion going- well maybe 20 mins if you stick closely to one subject or two at most.
I think most people would prefer a longer pod, 40 mins at least, as long as you can pause the stream and start again from where you left off.

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 11:31:12
The Joe Rogan Experience, which is Joe Rogans podcast, and the most downloaded podcast on the internet, with 1,000,000 views per episode, go for 2-3hrs. So not sure where you pull that stat Kaizer.

RadioLab is another of the most popular podcasts in the world and goes for the same length. I think what's important is content. If its boring it doesn't matter if it pasts 10mins or a day. Its boring. Vice versa with a good podcast. I think plenty on here and the other sites would be happy to listen to Ed001/002 and the others share their knowledge and stories for an hour at a time, minimum.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 11:55:44
that is true anonymush, but 10-20 minutes would allow you to be focused on a topic, allowing in-depth discussion on the topic and at the same times allows more frequency of podcasts as it is shorter.

however, i did say if it was intended for regular listeners, 1 hour is fine. and it seems that is the intention so 1 hour should be fine. mind you i'm happy with that, as the only reason I've been on this site for years is because the site has remain as it is all the while, a site for users. many other sites tend to go into massive advertising websites once they reach a certain level of viewers, and get filled with rubbish posts once they need to meet a required number of posts per week/month.

i am indeed happy the site has remained the same all the years, more of a community than a site just looking to make money.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 12:47:47
To throw my ten pence in. I think focused podcasts would be better if you had one set topic and did a 10-15 minute segment on that. Even if you did an hour and split it up into 4 parts or whatever if you get me. As I said above though thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to more whatever the length!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - ok thanks mate. Maybe we will just have to try a few different ways. Though I doubt it will ever be right for anyone all the time. There are days we are too busy to spare 20min and other times when we are bored and have hours to fill. There is no way of getting it any more than enjoyable most of the time I think,}

16 Aug 2015 12:51:17
I'd think 1 hr is absolutely fine. Infact I wouldn't have minded listening to more.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - cheers Reet.}

16 Aug 2015 14:28:29
My only reason for saying that is if you titled them all and did 15 minute segments or whatever it just gives people the option. Some will want to listen to it all which they can do while some may just have a more specified interest in one or two topics. Either way keep up the good work!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is not a bad idea, it might take a bit too much editing to do in the short term though.}

16 Aug 2015 01:35:46

Seeing the performance of Coates at Sunderland the last two games, I'm seeing why we got rid and he had few chances.

He is under a manager with ten times the experiance Rodgers has, he has won many things too. You'd think a coach of this level would both be able to spot a player and get them playing well. The cv we say we'd want over Brendens.

Ok posting in hindsight is easy, but the reason I am is because I was well on top of Rodgers for not giving him and others chances, being an armchair expert over someone who sees these guys every day in training.

Coates doesn't look good enough and possibly looked like this in training. Rodgers was correct. Not saying everyone is like this, Borini, Ilori, Wisdom etc but Coates is a reason to mention another side to the ongoing argument with, so far, some back up. Imo it's only fair to point towards this as it's normally only Rodgers is wrong, Dosent know what he's doing etc etc.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

16 Aug 2015 03:37:55
Fair point on Coates as Rodgers didn't buy him either. Borini and ilori were both bought by him for decent money. Borini actually played for him prior and when he has looked good he's dropped immediately afterwards. Ilori has barely been given a look in- it's not like we've had an amazing defence that were un-droppable and couldn't risk him in a few cup games. Sometimes you never know players potential until they get played regularly. Wisdom was a bizarre decision. He should have had some chances last season instead of sending him on loan. Instead we loaned a player in, in manquilllo and he's no better. Again that's all down to Rodgers.

Agree3 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 09:13:46
Max that is nonsence most people could tell he was not good enough long before brendan turned up and is completely different to not playing ilori who is clearly good enough or rossiter etc. As ed01 said without odriscoll championing gomez he probably wouldn't get a look in either.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 10:45:50
i don't actually think Ilori is good enough yet. He wasn't even a guaranteed starter at bordeaux, and i'd like to think that we are a much better team. He should geet a look in in the cups though hopefully.

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Aug 2015 13:27:11
Barnez you talk some rubbish!!
Are ilori and rossitier currently good enough to start in the team and if so replace who? I think if they were then BR would be playing them because in my eyes BR is good at giving the young lads a chance, wisdom, Flanagan, sterling and Ibe have all played games to prove themselves and now Gomez is getting game time and keeping a £20m left back on the bench.
Name me another top club who give so many youngsters a chance in recent years???

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 13:39:13
Max, your post is pointless and if it was a way of giving BR some kind credit for ditching Coates who every man and his dog new was not good enuff and who BR didn't sign, it failed miserably. Funny you did not mention the poor players he DID sign who have been aweful for us that are still here, some of which he is still forcing down our throats like Allen. BR is still incompetent at spotting players as we have seen with the Gomez situation fro barnez. All he does is spotting players by trial and error as in, buy a shed load of players and then seeing what sticks. He'll prolly be taking credit for Gomez's development whereas if he had his way, he'll prolly be on loan at Blackpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 20:34:28
em Real Madrid would be one as players like Jese, Nacho, Morata have had their chances under Ancelotti. BTM, your post is pointless. You slate barnez for his post but forgetting to mention how will we know if the youth are good enuff if you don't play them? Our youth ARE good enuff because those that have played have proven that. If they don't play and keep getting loaned out, it's because BR doesn't trust them and not due to their ability. Wisdom has been on loan for three years straight while Ilori for two. At what point will we know if they are good enuff if we keep loaning them out pointlessly? Care to answer that.

Agree0 Disagree0
