With Joe Go injured, does this leave opportunity for Enrique to step back in the fold? What has Jose Enrique done?

Take selfies with his missus for the last 18 months. Nothing else

Agree8 Disagree1

16 Oct 2015 01:05:18
Well he's been on a few holidays, broke his selfie stick with excessive use and he's happy to play for the reserves for his 60k+ wages when he had a chance to go wba and play.

Agree8 Disagree1

16 Oct 2015 01:39:59
He probably will get a chance long season and so many competitions …I can't think of anything he did wrong other than refuse to be transferred in the summer.

What, this week or for the past year? The answer to both of these is: nothing.

Agree2 Disagree1

16 Oct 2015 02:40:04
it is up to him. No one else can turn his way around in lfc but him.

Agree2 Disagree1

16 Oct 2015 07:55:35
What would you do if your boss tret you like crap at work but couldn't get a job anywhere else? I think he will rejuvenated under klopp who will show him some respect. Not saying he's a world beater but if he changes his 'attitude' if you like he might do alright. Fresh start n all that

Agree1 Disagree6

{Ed001's Note - he wasn't treated like crap!}

16 Oct 2015 11:34:30
fair enough, he was outcast then or what ever it is. What came first though the chicken or the egg? Either way I don't think he's that bad a player and should be given a chance as he will be. He's not the only person in the world to be obsessed with selfies

just my opinion

Agree1 Disagree4

16 Oct 2015 12:37:09
Doesn't communicate. Doesn't listen. Positioning is poor. They are the three main reasons why he shouldn't be anywhere near the first team. I would step up a youngster ahead of Enrique I really would.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - anyone that thinks Enrique is worth keeping needs help! The guy is a lazy moron with an attitude problem. Get rid.}

16 Oct 2015 12:58:07
i don't think he is good enough and his history of getting injured as soon as he walks on grass his shocking, he is not a player who i want in our team, he is too willling to just sit there and pick up his wages for doing nothing, he is not suited to the prem and will never be able to give us a full season without an injury

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Oct 2015 21:10:36
Marjorie being on loan leaving us with only one other winger - Ibe who is not experienced - is quite baffling. Are there any chances of a Markovic recall in January Eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - He has been sent on loan for the season. It seems unlikely.}

15 Oct 2015 20:54:58
I have an interesting question to ask you guys, since most everyone holds Rafa in pretty high regard. How would you have felt if at Inter he had 'raided' Liverpool and signed Mach and Kuyt while we were managed by Hodgson. I read today that he asked and expected those players for Inter as well as Evra. I don't think in all honesty I would've been too happy at the time, I know Kuyt and Mach moved on pretty quickly afterwards. But it would've soured my opinion on Benitez, not sure whether it really should do given that he's just a professional trying to do his job but still.

Believable1 Unbelievable8

16 Oct 2015 00:16:04
Wouldn't have bothered me. Masch was being a twit and engineered a move anyway. Kuyt was a decent player but far from irreplaceable.

Agree5 Disagree1

16 Oct 2015 06:58:13
good manager but bored me to tears at times. Held in good regard but not the best imo

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Oct 2015 08:07:51
Still haven't replaced those type of players Ron. Masch, was the best at what he did, and Kuyt was not ver glamorous but he knew what needed to be done. Rubbish post in my opinion from you!

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - Hendo does pretty much everything Kuyt did. As for Mash, it is irrelevant if we replaced him as the little weasel was on strike so we never had him available anyway.}

16 Oct 2015 08:59:04
It's Ok O G, I'll get over it. One day at a time 😩😩

So are you going to answer the question posed or just call my posts rubbish?

Agree2 Disagree1

16 Oct 2015 09:41:51
To me mach did nothing different to what Sterling, Suarez, Owen and Macmanaman did. Ed said that Kuyt did nothing that Hendo doesn't do. Except Kuyt scored goals

Agree2 Disagree3

16 Oct 2015 09:52:39
McManaman stayed until the end of his contract and to me he played his heart out until his last game. That is completely different to what Mascherano did by going on strike during his contract because he wanted a move. Owen deceived the club about wanting to sign a new contract and the club took the decision to sell him before his contract ran out, he never refused to play for the club. Sterling and Suarez are a different kettle of fish and no better than Mascherano, however, Mascherano was the first to behave like that and hence drew more disbelief. Considering we picked him up from West Ham reserves he treated the club with utter contempt.

Agree4 Disagree0

16 Oct 2015 11:57:26
Mascherano refused play for LFC. None of the other players pulled out of a game and refused to play flat out like Mascherano, which for a professional footballer is just wrong. So no, they are not similar.

Hi eds a few reports that Liverpool are looking to get Fabio Paratici in as a Sporting Director. Any truth?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It makes zero sense and sounds like an old story to me - he was perhaps a thought when Liverpool went down that road before with Comolli - and I have no idea who hew would want to bring in as manager to replace Klipperty.}

15 Oct 2015 19:55:48

When I first heard about Ings I assumed it happened on England training, as so many of our injuries seem to. But no, at Melwood. But I bet he was THINKING about England training!

Agree6 Disagree1

15 Oct 2015 19:50:24
Can't put my finger on why but Danny Ings was already quickly becoming one of my favourite Liverpool players. Gutted for both him and Joe Gomez. Takes a little off the shine of Norbert the Normals arrival.

15 Oct 2015 19:15:56
Absolutely gutted for Danny Ings. Hope he has a quick recovery. We've rapidly gone from having a bloated squad to being dangerously thin in most positions!

Believable11 Unbelievable2

15 Oct 2015 22:07:11
That's why we spend millions on the academy. When a situation arises that senior players are injured, you graduate an academy player and he gets his shot.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They will not be ready at an academy level, Sturridge, Benteke and Origi are available. Sinclair would be next.}

16 Oct 2015 01:47:21
I hope sinclair impress Klopp to the point where he can offer him more opportunities Rodgers did because Sinclair was apparently unsettled in the summer refusing the sign a new deal etc. It would be a loss to see him leave, he strikes me as the kind of player that once he is fully grown physically will take off in his career because he plays with such ease already.

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Oct 2015 09:01:11
Maybe we could bring Llori back to replace him? 😉

15 Oct 2015 17:59:46
just seen the report Ings is out for season aswell! This is awful news

Believable10 Unbelievable1

15 Oct 2015 18:24:54
Yes it is and let's hope he makes a quick recovery but it gives others a chance to impress the new boss plus we have lots of cover with Sturridge, Benteke, Origi, also Milner and Firminio can play there.

Agree1 Disagree9

15 Oct 2015 18:50:18
Let's hope he don't use Milner up front, recognises he's better out wide and convinces him as such when Hendo returns!

Agree9 Disagree0

15 Oct 2015 19:17:24
Two of our early season performers are out for the rest of the season. Such tragic news for the two lads, I really hope this doesn't get them down too much.

Agree9 Disagree0

15 Oct 2015 19:21:16
Why would anyone disagree with the op, for ings its a disaster and i wish him a speedy recovery. He is afterall a liverpool player.

Agree10 Disagree0

15 Oct 2015 21:54:30
Are there no strikers from the academy that could take this opportunity with both hands?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - What opportunity?}

15 Oct 2015 22:55:28
With Benteke and Ings injured doesn't that leave Origi and Sturridge as our out and out strikers? With Sturridge being injury prone I would of thought that having few acedemy players around the first team that it would be good for them.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Benteke will only be out another week. Sinclair can be used if needs be.}

15 Oct 2015 17:26:32
If Liverpool are looking for a flair player with an eye for goal then Sebastian Giovinco fits the bill. His second v New York Red Bulls last night was class, being hailed as MLS goal of the season. I have been to BMO Field to watch Toronto several times this season and he is head and shoulders above everyone else. Anyone in the Premier League showing interest EDs?

Believable1 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - No.}

15 Oct 2015 18:13:42
We didn`t want him then when he was offered to us by Juve + cash for Suarez. Don`t want him now.

Agree3 Disagree3

15 Oct 2015 18:41:35
He's head and shoulders ahead because the league standard is pretty poor hence Bradley Wright Phillips banging in the goals and Robbie Keane was tearing up too

Agree5 Disagree0

15 Oct 2015 20:14:18
Yes, more attacking midfielders come forwards to block to route from the youth team to the first. I would rather not.

15 Oct 2015 17:25:15
hi eds

with gomez out will ilori get a chance, or recalled if he is on loan, it could be his chance to step in and shine

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Ilori is not a left back. Ilori is on loan and h I think it unlikely he will be coming back.}

15 Oct 2015 18:42:53
Gomez is not a left back either! So if Brendon Rogers had decided he needed to play Sturridge in goal (I've heard dafter things especially with the current number one we have) would you then refer to him as a GK Ed?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - how is that the same thing?}

15 Oct 2015 18:48:29
Gomez is a CB really though - like the man in question. Therefore a vivid question mbrock99 one I also had in mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - and it has been answered a hundred times that he can't be recalled as they paid a loan fee! Why don't people read the posts??? I am sick of answering this same question every day because of lazy people.}

15 Oct 2015 19:18:15
its a pity he won't be coming back because i thought he had the potetial to be a top defender, gomez is not a left back either yes he can play there but isn't he a CB

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Oct 2015 19:40:30
Having written, reviewed and critiqued many a contract contracts are retractable under certain and agreed circumstances! That's why! I read, it is often a pleasant and informative read, but others know things too!

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - I give up. I am bored of this same discussion a hundred times a day.}

15 Oct 2015 19:41:28
Neither could I be referred to as lazy in all honesty!

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - well then RTFP!}

15 Oct 2015 19:46:47
It would be a similar inference. By saying Ilori is not a left back in answer to why with Gomez out Ilori might not be recalled then it infers Gomez is a left back. So saying if another player played out of position that that "out of position" position was his rightful one infers similar. I know what I mean! :)

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - except that Sturridge has not played as a goalkeeper, so it is just a pointless dig at Rodgers.}

15 Oct 2015 20:01:47
Hmm it was not a dig at Rogers at all if you read my prior posts I was actually one of very few that kept backing him to a level and continued to say that teams switch managers too often. The point was actually made in response to a suggestion that bringing Ilori back because Gomez was out was not a like for like. But I get that it is a discussion you believe has been done to death so I will shut up now. :)

15 Oct 2015 16:59:00
It us amazing how one international break can make a difference. Prior to the everton game there was doom and gloom and now there is hope and new expectations. I am not going to bad mouth BR but lfc became associated with 1 or 2 world class or great players. Under klopp I believe the worldie is him and he will be the most integral part of our possible future success. With regards to klopp I don't believe he will hype or promote himself as the saviour but instead work hard and gain the respect of both his players and the fans. Through our last few managers we lost our identity, belief and general position as one of the very best teams. We lfc have history but unfortunately our players and fans can not match our past we are but a shadow of our history. Football has changed and money plays a part but used properly. I do not think br alone is to blame as I believe we the fans are setting unrealistic expectations and quicknto lose faith in our team. My mantra is to do as I expect of my teams new manager and to give all players and the team a new slate so as of Saturday no prejudgements of any of the team and would like to wish all of them including klopp good luck win lose or draw you have my support.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

15 Oct 2015 19:19:43
I would have thought its klopp that's changed the mood rather than the international break.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Oct 2015 16:54:35
Not directly a Liverpool question but a general 'football fan' question. Just Reading the Bayern Munich protest, and wondering Ed002 do you ever see a wage cap or ticket price cap being introduced into the game at all?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There are wage caps in several countries and it has be discussed for the EPL. Typically it takes the form of a maximum percentage of turnover can be assigned to ages - say 55%. The problem is that stops clubs going out of business but still benefits the clubs with the highest income - MC, MU, CFC, AFC, LFC, Spurs etc.. t doesn't solve anything here with such large revenue streams. You a need to look at different tax systems in different countries to s how hard it would be to get a level playing field. Ticket price caps won't happen either.

Expanding the stadium like Liverpool will take years to pay off - the worst nightmare for the club is if all of the tickets go as season tickets. 8.5k expansion at £1k each would give £8.5M back which would repay a loan of £75M (at say 4% interest) will take to the twelfth year to pay off.

So the club has a target of a significantly higher revenue increase than that, and to achieve it will be selling a lot more hospitality seats through boxes, through corporate hospitality and, of course, some season tickets. They know and have made clear that they cannot sell hospitality at the prices Manchester United charge, nor at the London prices Arsenal and Chelsea charge, but the can get an increase in revenue.

I am not going to get in to Phase 2 as I expect changes by then.}

15 Oct 2015 19:08:57
I get that ed. Thanks for the insight. I suppose the tix are only expensive when we lose

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Oct 2015 15:35:08
Ed002 will this Ings injury have any impact on the tribunal fee?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

15 Oct 2015 16:32:27
So everything that might heighten his fee will count but things that could drastically lower it won't

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is simply an injury.}

15 Oct 2015 15:10:07
Ed001 if you're about, I remember you saying about Danny Ings and his injury when he was a kid at Southampton, was it his knee back then? I think you touched on it during the latest podcast.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

15 Oct 2015 15:30:37
Third serious knee injury of his career if i'm counting correctly.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Oct 2015 16:12:37
Edd001 what do you make of this injury, could this end his potential Liverpool career?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Of course not. It is an unfortunate injury that takes a while to heal but you do not write off his career just yet.}

15 Oct 2015 16:23:42

15 Oct 2015 14:55:09
Ings out for the season. ACL. Awful for the lad was our brightest player so far was looking forward to seeing him under Klopp. Question to Ed1 if you are about. If the choice was yours would you look at promoting youth for a chance to impress up front (Maybe Sinclair although I know he refused a contract)

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There is more than enough cover with Sturridge, Benteke and Origi in the first instance.}

15 Oct 2015 15:16:46
Thanks Ed2 for the reply. Hopefully it will give Origi a chance to gain some confidence in front of goal! Gutted for Ings and Gomez. Both would have improved massively over the season I feel. Given they were utilized in the correct position

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is indeed a great pity.}

15 Oct 2015 15:29:59
I agree in principle Ed002 but both Benteke and Sturridge are relatively injury prone and there is a high possibility of them both being injured at the same time. Let's hope Origi can step up to the plate when this happens. However I don't think we should or will purchase anyone else as cover. It is a slight concern I though. Excuse my ignorance but other than Sinclair what strikers do we have in the under 18/reserves?

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Oct 2015 17:22:33
I'd say all of

Hi Eds

Just a quick question keeping up to date with Klopps press conference and from what he said in his first it seems the press frenzy has come as a surprise to him and it's not something he is enjoying. I was just wondering are the press in this country more intrusive and difficult to deal with than in other countries and if so do you know of any managers or players who have struggled that much with them it has contributed to them moving abroad?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Generally they are more of an issue in England. In many countries individual journalists often stick to reporting on one club alone. They tend not to care too much about personal matters (who cares of he drinks and smokes, if he womanises, if he dresses as one of the Thunderbirds characters in the evening, if he has a three legged dachshund called Bernard, if he likes country & western music etc.) as much as the English press. Obviously it does vary country to country. I can think of two players who did not settle in the UK simply because of pressure from the press and returned to mainland Europe - but I can also think of one who did not settle in Turkey and left because of the press.}

15 Oct 2015 13:32:03
Why would a three -legged Dachsund be called Bernard? Surely Franz Barkenbauer would be more fitting.

Hey guys, haven't posted in years and can't remember my old pw but always read the posts :)
Just a question for ed001 and readers. I know everyone is really happy with klopp me being one of them, but I get the impression of him that the English media are really annoying him, and putting off him private life. I know it will settle down a bit but do u think long term he may get a little p'ed off managing in England with how much focus there is on media and coverage?

Since we're speculating what the near future holds, with a little bit of reaearch, here's what I feel. Expect:
1. A return to a back four. 2. Klopp will try to recreate BVB. 3. Firmino this season will emerge as the critical player going forward. 4. Emre Can's game time will be in midfield. 5. A couple of relatively low key January signings. Don't expect:
1. Title contention. 2. Klopp to go back to Dortmund for players. 3. Henderson to be a definite starter every time he's fit and available. 4. Klopp to immediately dive into the Academy talent pool. 5. Benteke and Sturridge to both be starters on any given day (would love to be wrong about this one). Curious to know how many of these I get right (a couple are dead obvious).

I have a feeling that Klopp will pick Firmino as the man around who he will build the rest of the team.

With gomez being injured, Ilori not playing at villa, Klopp having tried to sign Ilori at Dortmund or show interest at least seems like he would be a fairly obvious replacement for gomez if Klopp asked him personally.

{Ed002's Note - It depends on the terms of his loan, and keep in mind Gomez was used as a full back and not a centre back.}

I think change expect for hope, I don't think you can expect a top four spot yet and for firmino to be critical no matter how much we want it sadly

Think your wrong about Henderson to be honest mate. He's the Captain and we need a leader on the field at the moment.

Think you're bang wrong about Hendo. Some pace, plenty of power and a fantastic work ethic - Hendo is exactly what Klopp likes from his players. I think we'll see his position shuffled around a little but if he's around, he'll be a starter (although Klopp does rotate so everyone will sit out some)

Haha I'm just going out on a limb guys, kind of like volunteering for the slaughterhouse.

I think hendo is our best bet as captain but I think he tried too hard to be the man if you get me. I think he needs to play to his strengths and lead through effort and enthusiasm rather than trying killer or Hollywood passes

Gomez out for the rest of the season - cruciate ligament. Heart goes out to the lad sustaining this sort of injury just as he reaches the big stage.
