Please can one of the all seeing, all loving god like eds tell me how joe cole has been geting on and why the hell hasn't one of the eds taken the number ed-209(robocop).
huddz red
p.s. sorry i'm a bit sozzzled at the mo. {Ed001's Note - no one has ever even mentioned that number, I am kind of gutted I never took it now. Last i heard Joe Cole was getting on well and enjoying it out there, I was told he is playing well. Not being a big watcher of French football, I can't ascertain whether there is any real truth in a comment a friend, who is very into French footie, being French, said, but he says the slower pace suits him. I haven't seen any games involving him to check that out myself though.}

Thanks very much ed. Keeps up the great work you lot deseerve knight hoods.(especially for putting up with ed002. lol)
huddz red {Ed001's Note - careful, you remember the female Terminator? It was modelled on her, but they toned down the violence she is capable of to make it more believable.....}

A female chuck Norris, lol

Lucas “ this guy has been very good in winning tackles, but im afraid when he's in possession his ball control isn't that good huh? I really hope we replace him with moussa sissoko next season. Yeah you guys might say that he was our player of the season last season, but I think sissoko might do a better job.

Downing “ this guy seems to be afraid or something? He was magnificent at aston villa. He has the ability to beat defenders, but sometimes I feel as if he is scared? Or something is stopping him from reaching his full potential.. I really rate this guy. Hope he gets it sooner rather than later.

Jose Enrique “ he seems to be doing very well huh? I like this guy, could really make a
Jose Enrique “ Puyol “ Pique “ Sergio Ramos Spain backline huh? Wonder when is he gonna get his call up. He is obviously better than any of Spain's current left-backs.

Martin Kelly “ continues to prove why he is the RB to start games. Ashley Young who? He is very, very good player. What a gem. Defends very well, and not that bad going forward. Im not surprised if we end up selling Glenn Johnson cause he's not gonna get much game if Kelly stays fit.

Carragher “ Not the best of defenders, I know but I don't think KK is playing him because he feels that Carragher is a senior or something like that. He has made stupid mistakes at times, but he obviously has saved us a lot of times, and I still think he has a season or 2 with him. Before slowly being replaced by Coates / Wilson?

Skrtel “ if a defender has to go, I'd let it be him. Yes, I know he is decent at times but he makes a lot of clumsy challenges. If Agger stays fit, id rather play Carra “ Agger CBs. Coates Wilson backup. Give Coates and Wilson some games, these are young and good defenders, they can learn and improve. BTW if Agger was there just now instead of Skrtel, he might have had a try from long range huh? Remember Agger and his long range goals (he did score atleast 2 right?) Haha.

Charlie Adam “ to be honest I think Carroll should have played instead of him. Let Gerrard and Lucas control midfield. He's good, but needs to improve a lot. However I cannot deny that he has improved game by game. He's moving more, winning more balls, hope he continues to improve.

Carroll “ should have played! So many crosses that were not met. Carroll could have scored 1 or 2. Didn't even make the sub. He has improved a lot lately, I seriously think he could have scored at least 1 goal just now if he was playing. Just from headers.

Kuyt “ okay he was no bad, our engine as usual, but like most of the eds, I think he's going out next season too. Yeah he is a legend, but if we want to continue and improve in the champions league next season : Adam Johnson is the player we need. Pace, Dribbling , Finishing. He's like a better version of Downing. Him on the right, Downing on the left, and I think we have a very good squad. Definitely title challenging squad, not forgetting Moussa Sissoko from above.

Bellamy “ pity he didn't play in the last 20 minutes maybe? He's been our super sub few times now, changing games with his pace.

That's just my opinion, comment if you wish. Aim to win the title, but for this season finishing top four is good enough, title next season! Fully support u KK!

BTW any1 can mail (cant pay you no credit card haha) to Malaysia a This Is Anfieldť banner? I really, really want that banner. Cant get it anywhere here :(. I would have posted my email, but not sure if the eds would approve it. You cant blame me for trying right eds? :P. I wish the sell the banner in Malaysia! Haha.

Kaizer

I must have been watching a different game... I saw Liverpool defend (and attack really well) against the favourite team to win the EPL. Charlie had a really good game and pulled out all the stops to win us a free kick that got us the goal. Carra put in another solid performance that on a number of occasions saved us the game. Skyrtel played well alongside Carra, a good slot in for agger

(pressed 'send' by accident)
Downing showed glimpses of what he is about, some excellent crosses to dangerous areas...
Enrique is a world class signing IMO. Can sometimes do a little too much but can handle any winger they can throw at us.
IMO you have some good valid points, but we played well today, with stevie back we are looking really good and worthy of CL spot

Regardless of the player, club or country involved, there is no place for racism in football. If what Evra says is found to be true, then IMO Suarez should face a lengthy ban, and equally I would say the same should it have been the other way round. I have lots of respect for Suarez and his footballing ability, but if these accusations are true, my opinion of him will have been lowered significantly. Anyway, let's hope it's not true, I thought we were past things like this in 2011. Although I'm sure most of you don't like me due to the fact I support United and vice versa, but I'm sure we all agree this should not happen in today's game.

#ags

I agree,but also if unproved evra should also get a lengthy ban,but somehow doubt it,jimmybosun,

I doubt Suarez said anything, if Evra is found to be lying then he should have an equally lengthy ban.

maka

I would stake a considerable amount of daddy Rooney's ill-gotten dosh on Evra having invented this. It would hardly be out of character for a 'man' like Evra.

Red Owl

Ah, just ban evra anyhow for just being evra. indefinitely.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

I agree that there is no place 4 racism. But different cultures see thing differently.. It is just how they are brought up.. Like our grandparents, they know no better, they have tho learn

Ed's do you know if evra's accusations against suarez are true...and if it is what did he say? {Ed001's Note - I don't know, but I do find it strange that Evra only complained to the ref after the match had finished. I would have thought he would have mentioned something while getting booked at least, not wait until after the game ended, personally. But only Evra and Suarez will really know the truth about it. If it is true, Suarez deserves to be severely penalised, but if it is not true, then I would say Evra needs to be penalised just as severely.}

Totally agree with you there Ed, should it be true Duarez should be banned, if it's not then Evra should be. I think Evra did say something during the game. At the corner where the argument started, you could Evra point at Suarez while talking to the referee, and the fact he pushed Suarez's hand off of his head would suggest that something untoward had happened. Let's hope it's just a misunderstanding!

#ags {Ed001's Note - this is not the first time Evra has accused others of this, I really hope he is not the problem. False accusations are a terrible thing to make, they can ruin lives. I really hope it is a simple case of mistranslation or misunderstanding.}

The Mancs starting formation today shows just how much respect Fergie gave us. We were much the better team and could have scored 3 or 4.
Nice to see Adam, Henderson and Downing play well, great to see Stevie back too.
I can't see anything else but a really good season for us, when we start to click as a team we will go on a good run.
My prediction is that we will be right in the mix at the end if the season.

Some negatives and positives from that match.

Negatives

1. We still don't look comfortable at closing out a match. Once we got the goal we dropped too deep and surrended the initiative to Utd and it was only that 10 min spell that they were on top.

2. We are still improving but need to be both more creative and definitley more clinical in front of goal.

3. Feels wrong to knock him after his goal but can we let Adam take a few freekicks and corners instead of Stevie taking every one.

4. Dissapointed because how game panned out a draw doesn't feel like a good point, feels more like 2 pts dropped than 1 gained.

Positives

1. I never thought I'd see day that Utd deployed a manmarker against us. And against Adam. lol, if I was a Utd fan i'd be embarrassed. Its like us putting Lucas to man mark Cleverley.

2. So clear from the off that Utd just wanted a draw. The supposed champions and worldclass players happy to stifle a game and hope to get a point. If they're scared of us so much now they will be bricking it when we actually start playing.

3.Martin Kelly - just let Young out his pocket now.

4. Stevie - great t have him back, will only improve.

5. Suarez - even on his average days he can be great. Holding play up, drawing fouls, creating mayhem with his tricks.

6. Hendo - nice cameo, good determination to get forward. Should have done better with finishing but improving.

7. Kuyt - these are the games he shows his worth.

To sum up good performance, should be more clinical, they were very lucky, and deserved nothing from game.

If you had offered us 7 pts from Wolves, Everton and Man U after losing to Stoke and Tottenham I think we would have took it but could have been so much more.

Now the real challenge - Norwich, West Brom and Swansea. I think we need to look at gettn all 9 pts as its been these games we really need to step it up.

D 2308

Except for Kuyt I agree. Kuyt is too slow and terrible ball control. Finishing also seems to have gone.

Your positive point 1 completely baffled me, its not the Fergie way, I believe this was where we went wrong.... HERBIE(MUFC)

It may not be the usual Fergie way which is why I found it more baffling to deploy Jones against Adam with purpose of trying to stifle him. For a team who's strength is its offensive play and its weakness its defensive shield it seemed to be an admission that Utd midfield couldn't outperform ours bfore the game started. Our performance was still flawed mind.

Kuyts passing, tracking back and interceptions were spot on today, can't knock his play today.

I am a rare Creature a Liverpool fan who also enjoys England games but after today I feel that the england will suffer as today Englands forth choice RB kept out England's new massiah for an entire game while there star stiker had a mental breakdown before a big game and came on as a DM......bring on the euros :( -McMenemy

ok i was the one who earlier said that downing was a waste of 20 million,maybe i jumped the gun a bit, you know how it is emotions running high after the match. i just felt liverpool lost out on 2 pts today and a chance to close the gap on the mancs.united were there for the taking today especially with fergie's team selection and i just dont feel stewart is giving us everything he has.the last few games he has been average at best and i dont know about you guy's but average is not good enough for me.i felt that bellamy just would have given us somthing different that little bit extra which i taught was missing from downings performance.p.s liverpool are never going to challenge for top honours with skrtel, kuyt and lucas in our starting eleven.all three will give you 100% effort but sometimes that ain't good enough.for me liver pool shoul go all out to get eden hazzard,yann m'villa and gary cahill.this would give us a real good crack at the title.Y.N.W.A REDMICK

I agree Redmick, being saying it for awhile myself. Kuyt slow and bad control, Skrtel can compete in the air with players unless their 5ft and Lucas, slow, stats say he covers alot of ground, yeah mainly ball watching, and has a habit of giving free kicks in dangerous areas! I like this post!
Red&Bred

When Downing has played 40 games this year and is a given to start nobody on here will say a bad word.

Technically correct efficient and quick = 90 minutes every time - he will never be David Silva but we don't want or need show ponies.

I also agree Kutys second touch is a tackle

BOILED ONIONS

Yes totally agree RED&BRED kuyt and lucas slow liverpool's play down far to often,we need player's who can shift the ball quickly get down the flanks and in lucas's case create from midfeild.they are square peg's in round hole's.someone like hazzard would have teams on the back foot and create space for our forward's.team's are happy to let kuyt have the ball because they know he is either going to pass it backward's or loose it and this is why luis suarez always has 2-3 players around him

Although I support and they decent guys, Kuyt & Lucas not good enough. If we serious about winning the title we need effort AND ability... Skrtel is ok as a backup cb imo. Had a good game today, unlucky with slip.

Hey, which lucas are guys talking about?
The one who was voted our best player last season and has continued his form into this one?

Thought we were excellent today especially 2nd half, I was made up for Charlie Adam in particular as he had a great game IMO. Thought Downing played well 2nd half and Henderson gave a glimpse of what he can do in the future. Only negative for me was not seeing Craig Bellamy get some game time, Kenny is getting things together and I just wanna see every Liverpool supporter get behind the team and get us back towards the top, then who knows what we can do in the next few seasons.

ED001, has Jose Enrique surprised you as much as me?

I remember talking with you back in may about the problem left-back area and we were throwing the names Jose Angel and Aly Cissokho into the mix and we both considered Enrique not to be good enough at the time.
But I've been pleasantly surprised with him so far and thought he was one of our best players today!
Was just wondering how you thought he was coming on mate?

Many thanks

Stu. {Ed001's Note - I am very pleasantly surprised, he has been excellent, probably our player of the season so far, certainly the best of the summer signings. It helps that he gets good cover from the midfield, but he has not been exposed at all which I feared would happen. He is proving me completely wrong, I am very happy to say!}

I agree guys luis has been great this season but for me jose has been the player of the season so far. absolutely superb consistently superb is well which is a added bonus

Spot on. i didnt want him to be honest but he has been outstanding so far and easily our player of the season up up to know. over the moon to be wrong

waro

Yeah i completely agree, wish they would get him a bigger shirt though, it always looks like it going to cut the circulation to his arms and head.
huddz red

I will openly admit that I got Jose wrong. I felt he was not good enough and for that I was way off. The big thing is that he does not seem injury plagued and that makes a big difference... a bit like Arbeloa.

Dirks Engine Room

I remember the Liverpool v newcastle game at Anfield at the end of last season just as the 'Enrique to Liverpool' rumours were gaining momentum. I thought he was abysmal in that game, continually losing the ball easily and overall seemed half hearted throughout. I was cringing at the thought of him signing after that game. Every time I watch Liverpool play now and see Enrique darting down the left I get the feeling he's flipping the bird., Enrique has been astounding this season. The LB position was badly needing filled this summer, Dalglish got it spot on with his choice to fill it.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

I want to be the one who felt he got it MOST wrong on Enrique. POTY so far for me, strength, size and speed. Great buy.

Ah i know, so glad we got him now. I'm also glad Spain haven't yet picked up on his form!

Gary Neville was asked at the end of the match "how far are Liverpool away from being contenders for the title", he said they are still quite far away, they need another 2 or 3 seasons and to sign better players before they will challenge. I admit this season is not "going to be our season" however our performance curve should be the quickest rising in the league as the players are starting to gell and once this happens together with Gerrard coming back to his best we will play well and win alot more consistently. I can see a strong finish and it will be tight but I think we will get 4th. With the squad we have unless there is an injury concern, come January, we should not buy unless the player is clearly better than a player we already have in the starting 11. Yes we need a quality goal scoring pacey winger/forward and a different but quality centre midfield option, but actually buying the required quality is going to be difficult as all the top teams will be chasing the best players. However should such targets become available for a resaonable price - DC will be all over them and I cannot see the owners wanting to pass up the opportunity to improve and give the team a better chance of success. If the team gell into a top 4 side and we add a couple of premium quality players whilst investing in youth, IMO we will be ready to challenge for the title. I cannot see this as being in 2 or 3 years time, I can see it happening in 10 months time.

15 Oct 2011 20:19:19
Amazing Performace, unlucky result - if we could put in that perfomance week in week out we would win the title.. The problem is we can't produce that perfomance week 2 week..

Please LFC play at that level 4 the rest of the season!

Great effort by the Reds today and a lot of positives to take from the performance. Should definitely have won, but became too negative at 1-0. Our chances to score a second all happened after the Mancs had equalised. Nevertheless we were the better team and still only work in progress

15 Oct 2011 20:00:53
8 games, 4 wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats =14pts
What a difference a year makes!
Last year it was 1 win, 3 draws, 4 defeats, =6pts

Not bad isn't it! But we are slipping away from the title contenders! Some will say our expectations are too high! But we LFC fans wants nothing expect winning!
Looking at our next 5 games we should surely must get 9 points from Norwich (H), WestBrom (A), Swansea (H). Then we got Chelsea (A) & Man City (A), 4 points at least. No room for complacency!

Our home form has been very impressive so far! But these two draws against UTD & Sunderland concerns me very much it should have been wins, we played really well and deserved 3 pts. These results may come back to haunt us at the end of the season.

Think Spurs & Newcastle will give us a quiet good fight for that 4th spot (Arsenal no where near 6th or 7th sadly). Spurs are playing very well recently and it would be difficult for us to stop them if they continue like this, we have to make sure these draws turns out to be wins. Hope these two sides draw tomorrow or Newcastle win!

We also have a very tough Carling cup trip to Britannia. Getting koncked out will be a massive, massive blow! Carling Cup & FA Cup must be something we can clearly win, so that at the end of season we have something to celebrate. If we reach top 4 and win some
silverware, an excellent season! A disaster if we did not reach the top four!

We still needs a clinical finisher & a pacy tricky winger. Hope Kenny will address the situation in January! & he must to make sure we get in top 4. Suarez is not a striker he is more of a creator & an attacking Catalyst & nor is Kuyt. Carroll the only Natural striker we have but not at the top of his game yet, If he can score goals that problem is addressed. But a winger should be the top priority in January and we should sign a winger.
People like Maxi are good players but it would be better for the club if we can have some one younger with more pace & fiery who can come off the bench to change games. Bellamy & Downing are not enough at least one more still needed.

Martin Kelly should be our 1st choice RB & Kenny should test Johnson on the right wing.

During today's match I noticed we are not playing to the feet of the striker & Suarez was little bit lack supplied. Downing and the Enrique are used to this but when Andy is not playing we must better change this style better play the ball on the ground & short passes.
Adam was fantastic & It seems a Midfield of Adam, Gerrard & Henderson would work really well. But against Bigger aggressive teams we need Lucas so Hendo to the bench. Teams like Stoke, West Brom & against all these Lesser teams Kenny should fancy a midfield of Stevie, Adam & Hendo. Enrique once again proving good bargain.

Chopman

Lol newcastle have not played the big boys yet, between us and spurs for 4th

Newcastle to challenge for fourth?
I can't see that.

15 Oct 2011 19:54:41
Good luck Henderson, well played you'll come good,an all that.I'm sure they were the same things posted by most on here after his goal at Bolton and then a week later he was a 20mil pound waste of money.The lads a class act,end of.So lets hope if he does have a poor game in the near game that some youngesters do its not back to we could have got Mata crap.

15 Oct 2011 19:44:45
Ed how many points did we have after our first 8 games under Hodgson's rein? Also what league position was we this time last season? {Ed001's Note - we had 6 points, if I remember correctly (though I am not 100% sure) we were in the relegation zone this time last year, having just lost to Everton, Blackpool and United in 3 of the 4 previous matches.}

15 Oct 2011 19:42:12
Disappointed with our approach today we really did not attack with pace and penetration the passion we showed in last seasons game was just not there.Really believe we set the tone by having 5 man midfield and letting the game become a stalemate in midfield when we should have attacked from the start.They really are not as good as the hype around them,weak at the back positionally and lacking an inspirational midfielder,we could have taken them apart today with more attacking intent.

On a positive note it proves how far we have come in the last 12 months that I am so gutted about a draw.

15 Oct 2011 18:45:36
Was at the game today. We played well and should have beaten the mancs. I still think that someone in the mould of Mata would make a huge difference to our side. With that type of player, we would be so dangerous.

Ash

Need a RW with pace and skill. No tap-in's this year and as usual not much as. Adam has to play, think Hendo must take his chance now Lucas susp. Lucas for me offers so little. If we play Stevie-Adam-Hendo in cm we don't need him. Downing-Suarez-Bellamy or Carroll. 4-3-3

There's always negatives to take from a Liverpool performance, eh Ash?

cozinoz

We dont need mata, ash. WE need a GOAL POACHER desperately.
Indian Buzzer

We drew at home to the worst utd side I've seen in years and the only goal we scored was a freekick. You should always strive to be better cozinoz, no matter who you are. I said we played well for gods sake! Do you not think we need anymore additions? Think and read before you type.

Just been to the game, and all in all we played well 2nd half.I know Carra dragged us deep after we went in front,but that is the way he has played his career under Houlier, Rafa and woy,I am amazed Skrtle getting the blame for their goal,he slipped.My take on it was Carra lost Wellbeck at the near post but we can't blame Carra can we.

Skrtel actually had a huge game except for the slip. Still think he gets a rough deal at lfc. No credit.

15 Oct 2011 18:01:12
Thought Jordan Henderson done well when he came on. Threw himself into a 50/50 no backing out kept the ball great thinkin with the vollied effort an being positive getting into the box with a late header. Was really pleased to see the lad getting involved.

We had the chances. The performance was there an they polayed for each other. While its only 1-0 the other side can always get back into it. Would like to see us kill games off. Go for a second.

Anyway see what happens next week.

Spriggo

Amazing cameo for Hendo. All action box to box cm. Hope Kenny can see he offers far more than Lucas in cm. Don't need Lucas.

15 Oct 2011 17:52:25
For what it is worth here is my humble point of view. There are a lit of posatives to take from today. And we all know what they are. We outplayed united across the park, regardless of what players they had on the park. However, if ypu don't take ypur chances you dont deserve to won against the top teams. I am very much looking forward to tje rest of the season. Champions league is well withon reach, and who knows what next year will bring! RedTed

15 Oct 2011 17:43:03
{Ed001's Note - we were the better side, I do wish Suarez would cut down on his antics though, it is embarrassing. Just get on with the game, he has so much quality, he just needs to concentrate on his game. Disappointing result really on the balance of play but I would have taken that before kick off.}
=============================

South american players play with lots of passion, even the acting part of the game ...
In seriousness he is not half as bad as many in the premier league and the world, look at Evra today and Nani last year, Ronaldo before them, even Messi have the few rolls and screams every now and then.
I am surprised you would've taken a draw before the game - no self respecting Liverpool supporter would accept a home draw against united --. I think leading to today the circumstances helped us and I had the feeling they wont produce, we played well , we just need to learn how to finish

Roy

I'm sure Ed001 has plenty of self respect, and I know everyone has plenty of respect for him.

I know plenty of true Liverpool supporters who wouldn't have complained of a draw, myself included.

The Mancs are on good form, and I will say I was disappointed after the match, but I'm still okay with a point and a good performance.

When we had the performance at Stoke (where we lost, unfortunately) everyone was okay with it because we played some nice football, and today we definitely outplayed them.

You're right though, we need to
1. Shoot more
2. Finish

I feel like we don't shoot often. At all.

Personally I think we take enough shots, we just don't finish them properly. Think Kenny needs to buy a natural finisher in the summer, or just bring Adam Morgan up through the ranks. Don't think hes ready though.

Why even discuss Downing who was ok. What did Kuyt and Lucas do? Bellamy is better than kuyt, hendo better in cm than lucas imo.

Not satisfied with him..

Unfortunately I was forced to watch the game with the sound off.

Ray Wilkins is repulsive, repugnant and astonishingly boring.

He is about as objective as Bobby Charlton and Gary Neville together.

Team were good, and strong performances all over the pitch - pity old wobbly mouth wasn't sent off for the foul on Adam

BOILED ONIONS

Foul on A**m? Didn't realise anyone had touched him... Oh well, speaking of wobbly things, didn't see Andy 'wobbly belly' Carroll terrorising our defence like you lot told us he was!

Well we've got a easier run on our next 4 EPL games then Chelsea then City.
14points from our next 6games will put us amongst the thick of things and is also realistic.
Fingers crossed

I'm honestly expecting 9 points from out next 3 games. Norwich, Swansea and West Brom. Not to be taken lightly though.

Then comes Chelsea at the Bridge and City at Anfield.

Honestly, I want us to beat Chelsea at the Bridge again. Best match for us last season. No Suarez, no Gerrard, no Carragher, no Torres. Yet we still score and take the match. Hopefully we'll win again.

City are unstoppable right now. Hopefully United will put a fork in their path next week and really dent them (as much as I hate them) so we can be ready for them and launch everything we have.

Renegadered

As a United fan, I would love to see you lot take 6 points from those 6 games, preferably taking 3 from Chelsea and Man Sh!tty!

Ed who did we actually interview for the job before the king was put back to the throne ?

KopEndDannyLFC {Ed001's Note - Rijkaard and Pellgrini were the two I know for definite. Rijkaard even went on a tour of Melwood before the club decided against appointing him.}

Ed who would you have wanted if kenny didn't want the job?

Thanks for the quick reply on the last post ed

KopEndDannyLFC {Ed001's Note - personally I would have liked Roy Evans brought back, just to watch that breathtaking footie we played under him. Without Moores meddling with the team and disciplinary matters, I think Roy could have won titles with us first time around. At the time I just wanted to see good football, the dross being served up by Hodgson was killing my love of the game!}

Again thanks ed for your opinion.

KopEndDannyLFC {Ed001's Note - any time mate, I have to say, at the time I didn't want Kenny to come back, he is such a legend and I didn't want him to suffer the knee jerk fan reaction after every defeat. Far too many people expect too much, they have short memories and forget just how poor the team was when he took over. In fact they will forget a great performance the moment something happens they don't like.}

Some interesting comments there ed. You have to admire Kenny i think. He had that legend status for ever and he's come back and..i wouldn't say put it at risk..but he's put himself on the line a bit.
And i agree with you about the footy we played under Roy Evans. It came as such as shock, the early 90's, after all that glory. People saying we were a mid-table side. It was crushing. But Evans put us back in there. Man Utd couldn't outplay us then, there tactic was to load the midfield and kick.
The Real KB

Ed001 couldn't agree more mate, that team would have won leagues if they had a Carragher. How i wish we had a McManaman currently......The Best True Winger I have ever seen.

And as far as Hodgson goes, I have never not given a chance to any Manager or Player during my lifetime of supporting our great club that includes Lucas, who while the rest of my family slated him upon the site of seeing his name in the teamsheet, i said he showed heart and importantly glimpes of quality and would come good eventually and boy am i reveling in his success now, i even supported Konchesky with the notion 'he adds some steal' boy how wrong i was........ But Hodgson he is single-handedly the one man who made me hate the site of watching the team i have supported with my whole heart for all my lifetime, everytime i saw us unable to pass shorter than 40 yards and our strikers defending in our own half, with the notion of 'You can't lose a game if the opposition doesn't score'. I myself forgot what it was to watch true Liverpool football. I would go as far to say He along with the two cowboys are the worst thing to ever 'grace' our club(and that include Parry and Moores).

And this is why i take current critisism of the team unreal! do these 'fans' know were we were at this stage last season? or the season before that? did they see what crippling finances had done to our club?

Liverpool are back, and i finally have that glimer of hope for our great team once again. Long live the King!

Jatt YNWA

p.s. I echo your views about Evans Ed001, i would love to see him in some role in the set up, and i also believe it would give even more momentum to the 'Liverpool Way' that served us so well for generations!. {Ed001's Note - personally my feelings are far worse for Moores than anyone else, he is the reason we have never sorted out the stadium issue. He got richer off the back of our success and did nothing but take, take, take from us the fans.}

Hope you don't mind me asking Ed001, what is it in particular that Moores did or didn't do?

From what i remember, it was his complete lack of understanding of the word 'Marketing' which caused us to fall behind the other clubs in financial terms. And Parry's 'ability' or lack of it when it comes to transfer and contractual dealings which really caused our partial downfall(thank god we had one of the last bastions of the Liverpool Way in Roy Evans, else god knows what could have happened).

p.s. What is it about Roy Evans that sooo many of our fans forget how good a manager he actually was?

Jatt YNWA {Ed001's Note - Moores used to sit on his fat arse in his office doing nothing, just expecting the club to carry on as it was. Anything to avoid putting any money into it, as then he would be able to cream off less and have to cut back on his perks. He would also interfere during Roy Evans era, rescinding punishments for his mates in the team and buying players Roy didn't ask for or want, while refusing to buy defenders Roy did want, asked for and needed. The club was an absolute shambles, a joke, it says it all that H&G actually came in and improved the way the club was run off the pitch!}

After the disaster of the Souness spell I remember Evans taking over and to be honest hadn't really heard of him. I think he managed the last few games of that season with no particular success but I always remember the beginning of the next season was amazing. 6-1 against Crystal Palace first game of the season. The football we played that year was some of the best I have seen and the decision to McManaman, who up unitl then had only shown glimpses of talent, in a free role was inspired. I remember united tried to copy our 3-5-2 formation with Giggs in the free role but could never make it work.

I remember reading somewhere that after the Collymore signing the board lost all confidence in Evans and wouldn't back him in the transfer market. Think Evans wanted to sign Sheringham before he moved to United but the board wouldn't back him. This is basically the reason Houllier joined as the club wanted someone they could trust with the money. Is my memory right Ed?

JRG {Ed001's Note - sort of, Evans was never involved in signing Collymore anyway, that was a Moores signing. There were numerous instances prior to that in which Roy was unable to get the players he wanted due to Moores' meddling. The man is a greedy fool, all he wanted was to watch the matches from his nice box and travel to the games with the players at the club's expense. He is a leech.}

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that Hendo plays best in CM. If anyone wasn't convinced then, his second half performance should settle that issue once and for all

Ed any comments about today's game from Dalglish and Fergusson?
Also is it true Mourinho and Gaurdiola were top of John Henry's managment choice before Kenny was given the job and if so do you think they turned down the job?
By the way I think Dalglish has united our team and club and playing attractive free pass n move attacking football and I think he's doing a great job.
Players look like they want to win and with red army pride again.
Liverpool can in my opinion challenge the league {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware we never got as far as offering anyone else the job, we did interview a number of people but Mourinho and Guardiola were not amongst them. As for post match comments, Dalglish's interview just consisted of him being asked stupid questions from what I saw. Ferguson had the cheek to complain about Suarez diving and he did use the word dive as well. I wouldn't mind from someone else, but this is a man who deliberately sends out his teams to bully and dive, like Jose Mourinho for that matter.}

Wise up Ed, it was clear to see that Liverpool dived an awful lot more than United did. Suarez and A**m were repeat offenders while Downing tried his hand at it too! While I agree Evra made the most of Suarez's tackle, at least he was touched!

#ags (MUFC) {Ed001's Note - yes, yes, United are little angels who never do any wrong, and you are not really a biased fan at all. *rolls eyes* You need to take the blinkers off in future.}

What planetare you lot on?! To even think that Pep or Jose would consider joining a club who's supporters live in the 80s and a club that has had limited success over the last 2 decades, is preposterous! Dog leash was the only choice because he too lives in the 80s and and is the only one that sees
you lot as a force still!

Living in the present,

#ags (MUFC) {Ed001's Note - one day you will understand something about the game of football, until then you will just be a bitter little boy making stupid comments on here.....}

Ed001 can never be wrong nor does he change opinion

Its great to always be right every time {Ed001's Note - actually I have been wrong numerous times, and freely admit it and say when I have been wrong. But I don't wear big blinkers and talk utter nonsense out of bitterness unlike #ags.}

Just to answer this manutd fan posting all this nonsense, on sky sports just before kick off they showed all the millions of supporters in asia that liverpool supporters all getting ready to watch the match and they mentioned in the report there are over 200 million liverpool supporters just in asia, so that shows you how big a club we are. We are a force whether you like it or not and your fergie himself today said we and manu are the most successful clubs in england. So think and then type out your comments. Hibsylfc

Crikey Ed....someone didnt have their horlicks this morning did they? Bad day mate?

TK-Red {Ed001's Note - I just get fed up of blinkered fans thinking their club's players are angels and everyone else's is a disgrace. The sad thing is that professional players all cheat, Rio cheated by trying to pretend he didn't commit a foul, Adam cheated by going down too easily to draw the ref's attention. It bores me to tears in the same way that the best fans nonsense bores me, every team has idiot fans, every team has decent fans too, yes even United!}

As much as I see your point mate, Sky Sports arent exactly the most reliable source to get such information ;)

TK-Red

Point taken Ed. Though even the most objective fans have their bad days. Lord knows, I like to see myself as relatively objective but Ive had days where the heels get dug in. Poor old #ags...you've probably given him a wobbly bottom lip ;)

TK-Red {Ed001's Note - oh well, I am sure he will get over it mate, like I said you lot have a point despite playing badly, can't really complain at that.}

To an extent. I wouldnt complain about the point as it looked like we'd be leaving with absolutely nowt but the performance is more than complaint worthy. We were awful. I said yesterday that I could see it being yet another anti climax of a game and it was IMO. Maybe one of these days we'll see both teams go hammer and tongs at each other. Now that would make for a good game.

TK-Red {Ed001's Note - I was surprised at Fergie sending the team out for a point.}

You and me both. He sent out a team to try and counter act the opposition as opposed to play their own attacking game. Very disappointed with that myself Ed.

TK-Red {Ed001's Note - Old Trafford will be interesting, I can't see him making the same mistake again.}

I suppose it depends on how the league stands. SAF has a habit of trying to take the sting out of these games in recent years and while a blood and thunder game might suit Liverpool at Anfield, he really has no excuse at OT. For someone who constantly talks about the rivalry between the 2 clubs, I would expect him to send the team out with the sole intention of winning. Perhaps with all of Liverpool's investment, he wasnt sure what to expect and decided to take the "safe" option.

TK-Red {Ed001's Note - let's hope for an exciting game from start to finish.}

The fact that came on sky sports was actually said by an ex pool player his name does not come to my mind but they interviewed him he is in singapore and it was him that gavethe info his name was Mc something. hibsylfc

By the looks of it, Ed001, gary neville has now found this site between his commentating escapades. Good post name he's chosen too. Very creative.

Cuchulainn's Hounds {Ed001's Note - to be fair, I would have to question that assumption, I really can't imagine Neville being capable of using a computer.....}

Lol valid point Ed, I imagine he would have to call his good mate wayne for advice on how to just plug it in. Makes me want to go watch Zoolander now...

just watched thebgame in my local(10 minutes from Old Toilet) and the united fans were all saying they were lucky to get a point, liverpool were the beter team- nice of them to be honest.
so i cant understand any negativety, we played well pinned them back and asked questions of there defence and keeper - a little more luck and we would have won 3 or 4 one.
things are on the up even slur alex realises and sent out his team not to lose(when have united done that before)
i thought charlie was excellent today and we neer looked like conceding still need a bit more from downing but he did well - our next 3 games all winable and 9 points from those 3 will be a good return from the first 11 games and maybe the start of a good run,

Other than the spurs game our football is attacking and good to watch. Loving the pass an move attacking style. We have been playing this way under Dalglish but not consistant enough yet now I think the players are getting used to this style now and confidence is growing.
We outplayed Manchester United today and deserved a win.
More positives than negatives today and on our performances I think top 3 is realistic target this season.
Carrol should of came on for Kuyt and Bellamy for downing towards the end but other than that .. Great!

15 Oct 2011 15:59:14
Hey lfc fans..

I'm so happy with our performance today.. I know its a draw but arsenal and spurs will drop points against them and that's more important

I have one question to eds....

I think we should play that formation all the time..do u agree?v {Ed001's Note - personally, no, I don't like the extra bodies in midfield unless needed against a strong opponent.}

15 Oct 2011 15:56:36
ed, can u answer to me why our team when we scored today against man utd we started to play defensive. we only attack after they scored. every player stared to play the ball back and they allowed man utd to come at us. isnt the best line of defence is to attack. we miss about 5 good chances. thats the difference between our team and othe top 4 teams. we need to get adam johnson for right wing.
lucas had to much loose past today
trinired
{Ed001's Note - I don't understand why we have this drop deep and defend after we score mentality. I understood why we did it in the past, but not any more. It can only be because it is so ingrained in a number of players. Hopefully it will be coached out of the players soon.}

Yeah, agreed. we were almost missing attacking mentality till they scored and after that we came back to life, again.

I believe this has a lot to do with nerves, we were on the verge of beating the champions having thoroughly outplayed them, this is the difference between us and United at the moment when they play this well they have the confidence to kill off the game whereas our squad is a couple of wins from that at the moment but all in all it was a great game and i believe we might steal the points at OT if we continue to improve at the rate we have been.
Rustynigels

I believe this was just a mental setback, not a tactic flaw. Immediately after the goal we were pressing them all over the mdfield, then suddenly we went back, received a silly goal, and got to pressing again. We totally dominated after scum's goal. Alas, such things happen - knowing what to do and doing it are two different things, and having Rooney, welbeck and the mexican at the same time takes time to adjust to. Alas though, totally deserved a win...

Whats with the negativity. We played the league champions, the runners-up of the Champions League, and we completely outclassed them. Great performance today, we were unlucky, but this happens. Before the game, I would've been happy with a draw, but a win was deserved. And hold back on Evra, hes french, he cant help it. Cant wait til next game. Hopefully Henderson starts!

The fact that you lot are delighted with an average performance shows how far you are behind us! You are overrating your performance completely, in that neither team did much! Barcelona outclassed us in the CL Final last year,but you guys were far from outclassing us today. And don't even start talking about Evra with the way your players fell around today!

#ags (MUFC)

@ags(MUFC)
12 months ago we was boredering on administration, today the 'league champions' and supposed possible barcelona conquerors came to anfield and played with 5 defenders (jones, evra, evans, ferdinand, smalling) and a defensive midfielder in darren fletcher. for any liverpool fan that's progress in the knowledge that fergie came to anfield for a point, nothing more. you may be a MUFC fan but a football fan wouldn't be able to deny this.

I would just like to say that Charlie Adam was absolutely brilliant today and was man of the match by far. I thought we played well today am happy with a point and it was a cracking atmosphere. Next three games are massive and all very winnable.

Mighty reds

Lucas wasn't good today. Made a few misses, but hope, he'll have it in the back and would start to flourish again. Hope, kenny would use th subs, too. lolz:)

Would like to have seen Adam take that free kick outside the box near the end. Shame that Gerrard overruled him and made nothing of it. It was made for Adam to shoot.

I agree charlie did have a good game but man of the match has to go to enrique, played a blinder once again, for me has to be the signing of the season in EPL, great game today unlucky not to take all three points, well played guys.

RED4lifeNOTjust4XMAS

Can someone please explain to me what Charlie A**m did to deserve such high praise from you?! He was man marked by Jones for most of the game, and fell over to get a fee kick. If that enables you to play for Liverfool, then, and I never thought I'd say this, I think I could make it in the PL. I mean, doing nothing and fooling over isn't difficult is it?!

Stevie celebration with the 5 fingers up was classic BTW. Legend!

Chi-Paul

Yeah about that... I wouldn't label him that. To be called a legend in footballing term you have to have prolonged success. What's Steven Gerrard won? Not a lot is the answer. On the other hand, Ryan Giggs is a legend. 20 years of winning, winning and more winning. So ease up with melodramatic use of that word. P.s. If Ryan wanted to show you lot how many PL trophies he's won, well he couldn't because
He doesn't have enough fingers. Stevie G is a typical Liverfool fan, evading your recent failures by living off the reputation and successor years gone by.

Draw, well what can we say? We didn't take our chances.

A lot of positives can be taken out of the match though. First of all, we can pinpoint what we need the most.

1 - A Right Winger
2 - A Natural finisher

Kuyt is great, I love him, but he's a striker. Not a winger. Henderson is a far better central player. So that raises the point, we need a Right Winger.

Suarez is awesome. Carroll is great. Kuyt is a workhorse. But none of them are natural finishers. We need a striker who can finish the chances we create, we lack that true finishing touch.

Gerrard is back, a little rusty, but he played well.

Henderson was fantastic for the time he played. Seeing Lucas is suspended for the Norwich game, I want him to start alongside Gerrard.

Only reason we lost is because we didn't finish the chances we were provided with and De Gea saved everything else.

Looking forward to the future though!

RenegadeRed

Maybe johnson at right wing i know he,s not a out and out winger but he may be worth a try especially with who we play in the next 3 games could give him a go there and see how he does might be brilliant at least better than what we have till january
giblet

Yeah, Johnson should really be given a shout at right back. Him and Kelly already have a good understanding of each other. Should compliment each other well.

Team for Norwich:

Reina
Kelly Coates Agger Aurelio
Johnson Henderson Gerrard Bellamy
Suarez Carroll

Would give Enrique a good break and give Coates his first start.

RenegadeRed

For me a great natural finisher would be RVP but I doubt that will happen but what about Adam Morgan? He looks like a natural to me. I suppose he is still a way off yet but you never know

Chris in Tamworth

Played well today. but we had some great players on the bench too, that weren't used. Would agree upon the finishing point, we really lack there. In all the games so far, we have struggled to finish our chances. Hope, it'd change and we'll be on the top again. YNWA

your boys were the better team today, if you deserved to win but i'm happy with a draw.... HERBIE(MUFC)

Herbie i respect your honesty mate.i feel we deserved to win but a draw isn't a bad result the both teams.

Cheers Herbie mate, I agree we defo deserved the win and if only Suarez had buried his chance in the first half or De Gea hadn't been so good. Congrats on a top keeper by the way and ED001 BRILLIANT prediction of young going missing in the big games, he was non existent and when he did get on the ball was in all honestly dreadful. People harping on here about Downing being poor today but he came to life in the second half and at least didn't try and hide.
KiwiRed

Thanks HERBIE - the first half was pretty even and a bit of a non event but I thought in the second half we battered you, There was a few minutes after we scored where we seemed to sit-off you and let you create some chances but after your goal we were right back on it again. Draw was not a fair result but I'm sure you guy's will take it. If we continue to play like that then top 4 is the minimum we can achieve.

Hi ed what do you think about the result today?i think we were much better 2nd half rather impressed.Made up for gerrard but also hendo i thought we was excellent.but for me enrique was man of the match we was superb once again {Ed001's Note - we were the better side, I do wish Suarez would cut down on his antics though, it is embarrassing. Just get on with the game, he has so much quality, he just needs to concentrate on his game. Disappointing result really on the balance of play but I would have taken that before kick off.}

It's funny as I have always rated Young and I was gutted we missed out on him especially when he went to Man U. And my apologies Ed but when I saw your comments regarding him I thought it was perhaps only because he didn't sign for Liverpool but after today's game I will never question your judgement again.

JRG {Ed001's Note - I have been saying that about Young for years, even at Watford, I have just never rated him. I just think he is a bit of a coward, he retreats into his shell when his team look to him to produce. He is great when it is going well, but you need players like him to step up when it isn't, fortunately for us, he lets the team down when needed.}

I watched the match and i don't understand what you mean by suarez.for me he behaved well he tried to make peace with evra for me evra is the embarrasing one.suarez never even touched him but thats united for you isn't it

craig {Ed001's Note - I wasn't referring to that incident, I just mean his general behaviour, he is too ready to go down for my liking. Evra is a disgrace, I just assumed it was Nani.....}

Totally agree, I would much rather have Downing than Young?! Wow. That is all I have to say. Some of you lot should be sectioned for thinking things like that. Young didn't have a great but give credit to your defender, Kelly i think it was, he played well in his Cup Final. Ask any right back in the PL and they would much rather be playing against Downing than Young.

#ags (MUFC) {Ed001's Note - or you could ask Villa fans who they preferred, as they gave Downing player of the season award last season. I would say they are the only people in a position to know, as you certainly know nothing about the game.}

Just my take on the game, 1) Gerrard is back, fabulous strike. However, I think he's still a little rusty and wasn't dictating or influencing the game prior to the goal. 2) We need to shore up our defence. Badly. Yes, Skrtel slipped, but there were 2 free Man U players waiting to score. The defending for that corner was atrocious. 3) Henderson, could have scored the winning goal, but it wasn't his fault. De Gea was awesome. Henderson looked lively in the centre after coming on, just like against Everton. I think he's a bright gem that we have and Dalglish shouldn't waste him on the right flank. 4) I think it was very sporting for both sets of players offering hugs and handshakes after the match. It was very nice to see the players of rival clubs doing that. YNWAsin16

Gerrard is certainly rusty. Could have cleared direct to touch but he took a second touch and then was shepherded out to give away the first of those two united corners that led to the goal. Also shouldn't have overuled Adam - who was better placed to take that second free kick outside the box near the end.

I dont think we are yet good enough to get 4th, as Tottenham I feel have a much better squad than us and unless we pull a world class signing out the bag in january we will have to wait ANOTHER year for a place in the champions league. A great performance today but again conceding another goal is very dissapointing.
Regarding january signings we need a right winger and centre half for deffinate, they would fit nicley into the starting 11 at the moment. My players would be one of: Eriksen, Affelay, Farfan, Ayew, Valbuena or Perotti, all are playing for "smaller sides" (bar affelay but hes not getting a look in) and would be also reasonably priced (Between 10m-20m). As for centre half: Kjaer, Albiol, Howedes or Sakho (very unlikley).

JordLFC

Mate are you right in the head or are you just a child .

In every game people make mistakes , try looking at the plus's instead of slating the team by saying we can't get 4 th .

We've just give the team to beat the run for the money , get behind the team after game's like that lad not put them down , I don't think many would argue that we can't get fourth after that game , as for them players you mentioned for January try getting them on the new FIFA might make you feel better , have faith kid were rebuilding another dynasty with the king an stevie at the helm of it . K 96 .

The fact that you named Kjaer as a centre back we should buy shows how little you know about football.

Jatt YNWA

I would love some of those players mentioned but i disagree with you i think were good enough for fourth and if we put a run together who knows maybe higher we have a 3 of games now we should win well on paper but these are the test last year we never struggled against the top teams it was the bottom ones were we lost points if we can get through those games with nine points get some momentum going who knows i really think we have a lot better team than tottenham and we dont have the distraction of the europa league as they do i think fourth is ours for the taking if we play as we did today in every game wed win ninety percent of them easily giving us fourth
giblet

Affelay is also out injured.

This is not an LFC fan, just another person from spurs pretending.

Mate, your team were crushed by Utd a matter of weeks ago, and today we outplayed the same side for large parts of the game and deserved a win.

You think your team are really going to finish higher than LFC? Dream on mate.

Martin Atkinson and Andre Marriner, Liverpool's man of the match in consecutive matches. Is it me, or is there a pattern emerging?

We know the rules, as always!

Adam wins diver of the match. Suarez is gutted, has vowed to improve his diving performane in the future.

Sir Alex x

Dont fret, Evra is taking lessons from Nani. I really enjoyed his performance. I half expected him to start crying.

LIV3RBIRD

I thought he was playing for youse mate?
If It was a foul, gotter be a yellow has it not?
Anyway well done for playing for a draw!

St Helens Red

I think you're jealous Nani didn't get to dive today mate

Keith YNWA

Evans handball...? Hmm

To be absolutely fair, Rio clipped Adam (even if just BARELY) and isn't that by definition a foul, thus a free kick? Sure, he went down easy. So did Evra, who then proceeded to writhe around as if Suarez's boot had a knife sticking out of it.

Welbeck went in hard on Carragher, clipped his boots, but he didn't go down.

It's football.

Good match, without a doubt. Felt a draw was about the right result, even if not my preferred one.

YNWA!

McSnuggles

Actually the ref favoured Man UTD! Jony Evans clear handball & he was on the spot. Adam's free kick was well given. Both Smalling & Degey were immense for Man UTD. Suarez might be diving but it is part of the game his game grate credit to him it benefits his team. Don't care what people like you call him. Even Ferguson would say same thing about Suarez if he was a Man UTD player.
We were just unlucky, happy with the performance.

Chopman

Slur alex tv has proved ferdinand did catch adam so a free kick was the correct decision, As for diving take a look at gooby evra he gets a full 10 for it, Finally as for refs we'll say no more on that subject.
To sum up lets just say united cheats and their fans gobs**tes!
PS were you born this pathetic or has it been hard work perfecting it?
Slue Alex xxx 3 kises for a big girls blouse.

Alex - this is coming from a team that has such vertically challenged players as Nani, Ronaldo and Nistelrooy play for them. Evra didn't do too bad himself when Suarez 'caught him'

JRG

Sir Alex the blue nose why arn't you on your way to London to watch everton fall even deeper in to depression , or was that you who threw all your many at Bellamy in the derby , never mind , once a bitter alway's a bitter no matter what name you hide behind . K96 .

Agree blair we were the better team by far.i backed hendo and he certainly proved what a good player he is today.he was unlucky not to score.

Keep it up, Hendo. Hope, he'll be used in the center more often than the flanks. He is quite a good player in center, than on the flanks. Best of luck, Hendo. YNWA

Great to have Stevie back. Adam is better with him there. Enrique was awesome again. Best LB in EPL IMO.
Well done lads. Could/should have been 3 pts but we're getting better by the game.

Chi-Paul

To me, Jose (Luis, according to the Macca in the booth) actually had his poorest game for us today, his passing was way off and he didn't play up to his usual standards.

That said, I still think he did fine :)

1-1. Great effort,wrong result for me. Before the corner was taken i was complaining about the space at the far post and bang. Lucky,lucky united. I have to say though i actualy saw hendo on the field today! He did well when he came on,but lucas before him had a poor game i think. He's usualy fantastic against yernited. Man of the match has to be either adam or enrique. Both did well. Again,great performance,lucky lucky yernited.

I feel bad with a draw but Im happy because we played well and I am getting sick of people using Downing and Henderson as a scapegoat Downing's crossing was spot on and Henderson nearly scored a wonder goal out of nothing.

We were unlucky as a fatal slip caused us the game but think for one second of another United chance......I can't think of one either but I can think of many liverpool ones Suarez first half, Kuyts slide shot from downings cross, downings shot from the corner, hendo's volley and header ,adam's freekick we should look at the performance and be proud and take the momentum to the next game. YNWA -McMenemy

we didn't win because of skrtel. He lost hernandez for his goal and missed a sitter 5 mins later. Oh how we missed agger.

Red P aka Red Pinero

He slipped, apart from that he had a great game -McMenemy

Sometime what you need is abit more luck. that rounds it off for me. Only luck had saved Utd from a loss. Otherwise we were brilliant today. hope, our finishing would improve, too. best of luck, LFc. keep it up. YNWA

Why does skrtle get singled out when Carra was just as guilty losing Wellbeck at the near post.

15 Oct 2011 14:56:36
ahhhh so unlucky, we absolutely hammered them in the second half in particular, great free flowing passing in the second half. Bit dissapointed but hey let the media continue to underestimate our 'average' players, i think today proved a little bit that we have a title challenge in us.......

And thought i'd add, great to see us attack till the last whistle in United fashion.

Jatt YNWA

15 Oct 2011 14:50:21
I'm not going to complain. We played well, and yea it was unfortunate that Hernandez scored, but we sent a message showing that we are a force to be reckoned with. No other team has shown United that amount of difficulty. And arguably yea we should have won considering the number of chances we had. But De Gea came through for them and made some world class saves. People shouldnt slate Henderson for one missed chance when he played so well. Suarez and Kuyt missed a few themselves. We'll come fighting at Old Trafford.

Yea he did...it was his cup final.

Hendo is a CM. The volley was sublime. Great save by De Gae. Deserved 3 pts but you have to finish those chances. YNWA

He was playing as a Central Midfielder, the position he is much more comfortable in than the Right Midfield position. Hopefully he'll start against Norwich, he deserves it.

Right, he was absolutely clinical for the minutes, he played. keep it up, hendo. Best of luck. YNWA

Really dissappointed with the result, the team hasnt a notion how to see out a game. 1 nil up and straight away we back off and let utd attack and shoot which we hadnt done until we took the lead. Has to be seen as 2 points dropped. Still think we lack an out and out goalscorer. Carroll not even coming on shows that either the staff dont trust him to pitch in with a goal or that they where happy to settle for a draw and move on to the nxt match.

N87

Who need's enemie's when we have supporters like you , sort your head out lad an support the team . K96 .

Clearly you are delighted with just the 1 point, ur prob from the same group of fans that thought we shud have giving Woy more time with his small team mentality. Facts are that we have conceeded soft goals in most games this season including pre-season and to ignore it would just be foolish. Whilst the overall performance today was good and a million miles from the tripe of last season we still lack players in certain areas of the team so dont be foolish and suggest that anybody who points out the obvious is not supporting the team.

N87

We were playing quite well. Lets suppose if Kenny had bought in carroll and we'd have conceded the 2nd. What you'd have been saying then. Let me quote, "What was the need to bring him in, we were playing quite good. He came in and slowed our game, blah blah blah." that's just it. happy with the performance. Keep it up, Liverpool. YNWA

You cheating little f**k's! Adam dives from a challenge with literally minimal contact. And you score the freekick.

SUAREZ is the biggest crybaby ever to disgrace football. Any decision against him arms flung up in the air, screwin his face up. {Ed001's Note - grow up, have you never heard of Nani? This is the kind of stupid comment that makes football fans look like immature brats. If there was contact then the free kick should have been a free kick, even if he shouldn't have gone down. Just be glad that you got a point despite such an abysmal performance. At the end of the season it will be points like this that will give you a chance of winning the league.}

Angry much?

Agreed Ed001.

Go back to the Manchester United page, as in all honesty you were lucky to get a point.

Thanks, James.

downing what a waste of 20 million.if i was bellamy i would be absolutley disgusted with daglish

Rubbish, he was much better than Young today, who cost a similar amount. He produced some great crosses, especially the one to Kuyt and Henderson. He passed well and linked incredibly well with Enrique again.

Wait till we have an easy opponent then you'll see Downing getting some more assists, Carroll scoring and everyone singing their praises.

Papa G

Come on mate, downing was poor first half but a lot better in the second.
you would have been complaining if kenny put bellamy and carroll on too and then we lost by a late goal

LFC 2929

Not the volley by hen , that was a great effort , but the header he should of done better with , o well a bit unlucky but we move on...........lfc

Disagree with what you say about Henderson. Great technique for the attempted lob and was a world class save to keep it out. He showed he wasn't scared to try it and got himself into the position to attempt it.
The header was just slightly off, but again he didn't go missing and put himself into the position to be able to score.
Go away you muppet

Go away you muppet nice talk sign your name i put my name up there to be shot down and i never slagged henderson of probably more just dissapointed we didnt win but go away you muppet thats the best you can do

interesting strategy by ferguson, he waits till we get tired, then he releases his big guns
in principle it is a clever technique, however what will happen if we nick a goal or two, thats when ferguson panics and makes a further mistake.
if man utd are to score then they will just defend the lead and the attacking players will remain on the man utd bench.
kenny half time message will be to get a goal, and to get it FAST

cmon liverpool , get at them from the first min today and never stop closing them down , chase every ball ,2-1 to us today , suarez and stevie on the score sheet............lfc

Any team visiting Anfield these days will get chances,because we are still playing old father time in our defence. He pulls us back all the time and dictates the way we play,as he his scared stiff of being turned.I have been calling for his head all season and by all accounts he hasn't impressed me at all.The Carra brigade where out in force after the derby saying he was a legend,but before they went down to ten men he was twice beaten in the air by Cahill and looked shaky.I am never confident when he lines up,and how can you be,with his lack of pace, shirt pulling ,hoofing the ball all the time.The Carra brigade will say he warrants a place,because of his organisation skills.That shows a lack of respect to Agger and the others who didn't do that bad a job when Kenny came back and Carra was injured.I will be there today with my fingers crossed every time they attack. Micheal Mouse.

Carra Has truly been a great servant for the club but his Skills with the ball are not worthy of the acclaim he receives.Anybody who truly really believes he deserves to be in the side on his footballing ability,should be supporting the dog and duck. I do respect his heart and desire,but to go forward we do need to quickly replace this player, as he his getting in the team on his past performances.I wish Paisley was still here and had the ear of Kenny.I know Carra would not make the team.Just LIke the mighty Emlyn, Tommo and the Anfield Iron himself,Paisley knew when a player was not upto keep taking the club forward.I know Kenny wants to play a high line,but we will never play that way with Carra.You can see he plays yards behind the back four and always the last stepping up If Wellbeck plays I can see him running Carra ragged.

15 Oct 2011 09:05:29
I'd love to see Agger play, but only 4 weeks after a broken rib- surely a match of this intensity is asking too much too soon?

Likewise Gerrard- I just can't see him starting a full match quite yet- I think he'll be on at half time.

15 Oct 2011 09:04:09
I'm going for Man Utd to win 3-0! We haven't a hope in jells chance. Just look at Utd's team, £10/15/30 million footballers everywhere against Adam,Lucas,Enrique,Reina,Kuyt & Skrtel! All cheap buys. Then we have Carra & Kelly who cost nothing, & if we play Bellamy instead of Carroll?

Now look at the possible Utd team! Dgea, Rio,Jones,Smalling,Evra,Young,Nani,Anderson,Carrick,Rooney & maybe Wellbeck! Not too many cheap players there! We are in for a hiding! A complete mis match in footballing clientel.

Even look at Utd's manager. A great example for any child watching a game in how to conduct yourself, a lesson he has passed down to his players thru the years. Rooney being the obvious example.

If only we could find something special! That passion, that drive! Determination! That 12th man! Ah well! We can all dream.

Clearly not a liverpool fan

Hope is definitely not the same thing as optimism. It is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense, regardless of how it turns out. The chance is definately there, our back four is more solid, keeper far better, centre mids better, strikers better (Gerrard/Suarez), our wingers are not as prolific so far but they are men not boys, so should play better in these big games.

We are at home and anfield is our fortress we have a great chance for 3 points.
win loose or draw falling down is not defeat defeat is when you refuse to get up.

I just took the whole thing as sarcasm and took it as us winning 3-0.

Good day!

"Clearly not a liverpool fan"
i am lead to believe by various reliable sources, C.Sense and Mei Eiyes to name but 2 that this was meant in a sarcastic manner.
expect more information regarding this soon and remember...
YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!!

Lets hope your sarcasm trick works this time....:)

Well lads. I don't think we'll see Suarez start todays game. After two tough Internationals, and a long flight back I think he will be jaded. I think Kenny will maybe go with one up top, (i'd play Bellamy, Carroll will just play into their hands) an play Stevie in behind. Then bring Luis on with 20 til go and let him terrorise them when their tiring. YNWA

Normaly I would agree and It would be the smart thing to do, but Suarez is so eager to play every game.......besides I wouldn't want to be the one to tell him he isn't playing the biggest game of the year because he's tired -McMenemy

I expect Suarez to start and be swapped at some point for stevie. Just can't see both being used from the start and lasting, hope I'm wrong because we need both at their best if we are to show untd we are on the way up.
Big game for us, win and we close the gap and with the Manchester derby next week we could really put ourselves in the mixer.
Come on the boys, do yourselves and our fans proud.

I personally think Man Utd are there for the beating later today.

Their defence is not set properly, with players moving around due to injuries, Fletcher and Anderson are not top quality, they just do their job. The amount of pressure on Rooney will be so incredible due to the red card. Nani has been the only United player to really shine yet this season.

I believe that if we play Kelly at RB he will keep pace with Nani when he comes down our right, aswell as Kuyt tracking, due to Evras runs.
Enrique is good positionally, which is always good against Nani, plus his ability to play the ball. If we play Downing he can drop with him also, although Bellamy would offer more going forward, probably against Jones.
Gerrard should start with Adam, he gives us a drive and determination in these games, something to make us work, plus teh fact that he has rested for 2 weeks whilst Lucas has been to Brazil and back.
Now, we could either play Carroll up top with Suarez (who has also travelled, but is not usually as affected by this, last time he travelled he came back and had a stormer), however I do not believe Carrolls bully boy tactics will work against Vidic, so why not have Bellamy in behind Suarez, and then have Kuyt, Bellamy and Downing rotating, ith Gerrard or Adam joining, and also our pacey wing backs with Enrique and Kelly, Adam sitiing mostly. Then after 70ish minutes, bring Lucas on to break up the play in midfield, Carroll to take advantage of tired defending after being run ragged by our rotating quartet, and possibly henderson.

I think we can have em 2-1 if the team shows up properly

Anfield Andy

True about Andy. I honestly want him to start, but Vidic's job will be to stop Andy from being the target man. The other defenders will probably prioritize Suarez. Hence I think we need Bellamy to start the game to exploit their weakness with his speed and determination.

Ed's, how come Coates hasn't had a chance to play yet? I'm pretty sure that Carragher is grooming the guy and helping him out. If we move for Cahill, what does it mean for Coates? Will he and Cahill be our CB's? {Ed002's Note - Coates is young and needs to settle in and learn the language. He is going to need some time. I doubt Cahill will be arriving.}

Please not Cahill another overrated English defender did u see him for England last week and well how many goals have Bolton shipped this season not all is fault but he has to take some of the blame as there senior centre half. Red Kenny

Hi eds, was wandering whether you think Stevie will star tomorrow?
Also, can I get a cheeky prediction?
Cheers {Ed002's Note - Two one to Liverpool.}

Good one ed002 ! hibsylfc

I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but I'm not one of those stupidly over-optimistic people.

I personally don't think we can beat MU yet. YET. I would say a loss or a draw is on the card, with a typical injury time goal from the Mancs. I just don't think our squad has fully 'clicked' yet. And on top of this we have to try beat a team who have had a truly amazing start to the season.

But, look at our record for this fixture for the past three seasons at Anfield... A win is definitely possible; but we will struggle.

All I can say is good luck to the Lads playing for us tomorrow.

Final Verdict: Liverpool 1 - 2 Manchester United.

Please don't take a different view of me just for stating m my personal opinion which to be honest is quite different from a lot of other posters on the banter page.

Thanks, James.

Well i think if we put this side out then we gotta chance and forget 5 at the back cos the mancs will only saturate the midfield,
reina(obviously)
johnson (carra/skrtle) agger the bull

lucas adam

kuyt gerrard downing

suarez
subs---hendo carroll bellamy coates kelly doni.

if we get at them like norwich did then with the added quality that our team now has then i think we just may have too much for them but i think we gotta get rooney rattled, control rooney and you control united. YNWA

TOMMY C

If we rattle rooney really hard his hair will fall out and he'll be too embarrassed to play on? I like it, nice

Hmm charlie adam lol, no thanks stick with a 4man midfield and gerrard to replace adam, kuyt and suarez up top.RedTurk

The result will much rather depend on the players Kenny put in the starting XI, if it is the same as against Spurs then we can expect such a result otherwise no chance at all if the player are up to their task.
Key for LFC would be whether Stevie G starts or not!

Chopman

I don't believe that United have had a "truly amazing" start to the season personally James mate. They have been very poor defensively, Chelsea could have had 4 easily, Norwich could have had 2 or 3, and Basel put 3 past them. And thats just there last 3 matches, admittedly they have been magnificent going forward however, at the back I would say pretty average.

KiwiRed

Obviously we can beat United. Any team can beat anyone else on their day, and we are fully capable of beating anyone in any given match. Dumb comment

Red Ollie

Hey james, i think ur a tad too negative. The battle will be won in midfield, n we all noe whose midfield is better. If stevie starts, we will definitely win. N man utd do always bottle up at anfield, so they wont be a able to perform like they did against others. The only worry i have is abt adam starting. Too slow for such a crunch game. My team wud be:

Reina
Kelly Carra Skrtel Enrique
Lucas
Kuyt Gerrard Downing
Suarez Bellamy

Indian Buzzer

KiwiRed - I was meaning that the amount of points they have is amazing, yes they may not have performed every game, but they still managed to win.

Jeez, I can't believe I'm standing up for MU here!

Thanks, James.

I'd have Carroll over Bellamy Indian, I know Vidic will be able to stop him but this is a chance for him to show how he can shine. I think Bellamy should be a last 20-30 min sub as his pace will tear Uniteds defence, especially after Andy has had 60-70 minutes to bully them

I hope Agger stays on the bench an Bellamy comes on to score a late winner

Agger should always play when fit and i would like to see us play with five at the back to

Dont know if everton could fill a 70 seater ..35 bitters and their sons is a big ask!
