A question for Ed002, hope we've been well enough behaved for this one Ed! I'm just wondering what are the deciding factors in a club being able to spend top dollar in terms of transfer fees but limited in terms of wages?

I'll use West Ham as an example, in the summer they bid a not insignificant amount for Lacazette but I remember you stating that they were banking on reasonable wage demands. Why was this the case? Why could they bid so much for the player but not afford the wages?

Just interested Ed! Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There is a need to balance expenditure and wages in terms of FFP. You can get away with expenditure with a high income but then you can still be constrained by wages under the FFP regulations. This is really not a matter for the LFC pages.}

16 Nov 2016 16:09:44
I know that Ed but I appreciate the response anyway! Put it down to naive curiosity.

15 Nov 2016 21:59:19
Shame about the final minutes for England, but I'd just like to say that I thought Jordan Henderson was fantastic tonight. Didn't put a foot wrong all match!

Believable10 Unbelievable0

15 Nov 2016 22:11:38
Sorry but I just don't care.

Why did Henderson play full game?

What is the bloody point?

Waste of time.

15 Nov 2016 22:39:03
REID the RED

Totally agree. Hendo was brilliant and showed how a REAL Captain should play.
Playing for his Country obviously means a lot to him and we should respect that.

16 Nov 2016 10:26:45
But according to the Daily Star he was just ok and only got a 6, but Sterling gets a 7! Some of these reporters really are clueless and get paid for just spouting nonsense!

16 Nov 2016 13:07:21
"But according to the Daily Star. "

One of the least reliable of unreliable newspapers 😄.

16 Nov 2016 14:42:18
Daily star? Might as well have me writing their footy columns because I having a bloody clue either lol.

15 Nov 2016 21:55:33
Itv's twitter stating lallana, will be out for a month, pointless friendlys .

Believable3 Unbelievable1

15 Nov 2016 22:16:27
iTV know nothing about football.

wait for LFC medical staff to check.

English FA clowns are not fit to run a pub team.

I hate International football and international friendliest are an absolute waste of time unless only fring players are involved. There is no pint using top players who have a proper job coming up at the weekend.

15 Nov 2016 22:44:16
How would they know already? Normally you have to wait for a assessment/ scan before you find out the extent of these things.

16 Nov 2016 00:56:24
Theyre taking a stab at what they think the injury is. Reality is it could be less or longer, we won't find out till liverpool assess him.

15 Nov 2016 21:48:25
Iago Aspas, take a bow son.

Believable15 Unbelievable2

15 Nov 2016 21:15:37
If lallanas injury is anything serious i propose an independence referendum for the merseyside area.

Scexit?

16 Nov 2016 15:27:00
😄

Or Scouxit.

15 Nov 2016 21:12:38
This international friendly is an extremely vital learning tool for English football. Without this crucially important fixture we would be completely ignorant about so much in our quest for World domination. Oh, and the added bonus is the FA and Wembley are just a tad wealthier. Everyone wins!

Believable5 Unbelievable4

15 Nov 2016 20:32:34
Llalana straight down the tunnel after coming off injured, meaningless friendliest really do get on my t*ts!

Believable14 Unbelievable0

15 Nov 2016 21:03:09
Yeah I know what you mean incredibly frustrating isn't it.

15 Nov 2016 21:18:57
Y is Henderson playing this rubbish friendlies.

15 Nov 2016 21:49:35
Every single international game worries me when our players are playing due to this. Let's hope it's nothing serious.

15 Nov 2016 22:38:08
Players need to play, 2 weeks off doesn't help anyone. Granted they don't need 90 minutes but our players playing in internationals is indirectly beneficial for the club. If players are getting recognised internationally it makes them a bit more settled at the club.
Basically, I don't like the international friendlies either but we need to accept them and move on.

15 Nov 2016 23:06:42
True Mr K, had he got injured in the 80th minute I'd be more frustrated too. It's just unfortunate as he was playing well. I'd like Grujic to get an opportunity now but we will see what Boss Klopp does he knows best.

15 Nov 2016 20:26:46
A L off injured let's hope not serious!

Believable6 Unbelievable0

15 Nov 2016 22:41:08
half watched the first half while on my phone, has apta done the stats on how many goals/ chance's are conceded through trying to play out from the back, insanity is repeating the same mistake ect ect.

15 Nov 2016 19:31:08
Ed001

Did you get a chance to compile that 10 game review or did I miss out on it as I have been up the walls recently with a full house restoration 😱 My Mrs has my pocket and arse broke never Mind my back 🤕.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I did the Liverpool season review so far a while back and today put up a review of Klopp's time so far here: Klopp review

15 Nov 2016 20:54:33
Thanks for that Ed the Klopp review was a fantastic read.

{Ed001's Note - thank you.}

15 Nov 2016 21:52:19
It was a great read, looking forward to maybe another at the back end of the season when we're champions! lol nice one ed1 mate, was spot on every part.

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate, fingers crossed you get your wish when I do the season review.}

15 Nov 2016 22:58:15
Great read ed01. Brightened up my night. Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate. Thankfully the international break is coming to an end.}

15 Nov 2016 19:22:30
Woodburn grabbed a brace for Wales u19s and Alexander-Arnold scored from the spot for England.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

15 Nov 2016 20:10:19
Woodburn also got two assists, and I think scored a free kick.

15 Nov 2016 22:17:09
Against Luxembourg was it AH?

16 Nov 2016 08:34:12
Yes mate, ended 2-6.

15 Nov 2016 19:20:43
Ed001

Can I ask if you know or have an opinion on this.

Since Klopp has arrived have you noticed an improvement in the youth system at Liverpool, IE in the way they train-play-attitude on the pitch etc.
And final question compared to previous managers let's say over the last 20 years within the club disregarding Dalgleish what has been done differently or has anything changed at all so far and is it a learning curve to adjust to the senior managers demands on what he expects to see coming through the system?

Finally how do you see our youngsters progressing under the current regime?

Is the future really as bright as we hope or is there better systems out there?

Cheers in advance mate 😊.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - well the youth system always looks to mirror the first team, so yes, they play much harder. Also the shrinking of numbers has helped massively, giving the players more of an incentive to perform or be cut.

It is difficult to say what has changed as it is too early for that mate sorry.

Again too early to talk of progression.

It always helps when the first team is stronger, as that attracts better players into the youth team, if they see chances to get a game.}

15 Nov 2016 17:58:30
Looking at our fixtures for the rest of the year I'm excited. They are all winnable with the way we are playing right up until City on New Years Eve. With all of the other contenders playing each other in this time I think we could have a cushion at the top by then. This weekend is probably the most difficult with it being after an international break but get a result at Saints and I'm off to the bookies!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

15 Nov 2016 19:39:43
Every game is winnable, belieeeve😎.

15 Nov 2016 15:15:16
Hi eds,

Just seeing this rubbish about Sturridge going to West Ham or Stoke in January, with Mane missing up to a month over that period surely that would be ridiculous to let sturridge in the January window?

Your thoughts eds?

Many thanks

{Ed's Note - We have posted a new article entitled, Assessing The Klopp Era

Believable6 Unbelievable1

15 Nov 2016 13:57:13
Excellent read ED!

15 Nov 2016 14:47:16
Great read.

15 Nov 2016 15:10:31
Very honest, objective and factually accurate. Bravo!

15 Nov 2016 14:17:59
great read ed, just a quick question to you and all reds, what's better -

pep, kdb, silva, aguero

or

klopp, coutinho, mane, firmino

I only ask as the first option has a bigger rep and most other fans would say that, yet for me the second option has everything that a team needs, charisma, creativity, speed, workrate.

cheers.

{Ed001's Note - Klopp by a mile.}

15 Nov 2016 14:33:04
Its a great read, thanks very much.

It leaves me wondering what happened that Rodgers team self imploded?

I didn't like the way when the club got rid off Rodgers back room staff that he didn't resign out of principle and loyalty to Pascoe et al.

Maybe it showed a weakness in his credability as it ran counter to his much self publicised philosophy.

Maybe that seeped into the team and they dropped performance levels.

We seem now to have a stronger personality in charge with a lot more pedigree than Rodgers will ever have.

But remember Rodgers had 1 great season as well so only time will tell.

{Ed001's Note - Rodgers believed his own hype and made everything about him. Fine when it was going well, but the minute it goes wrong it collapses. Similar to Jose, but Rodgers never reached his level.}

15 Nov 2016 14:38:07
Spot On ed1 brilliant mate. Thank you.

15 Nov 2016 15:17:33
Did you write this ed? Thoroughly enjoyed it, great read.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, I had been promising to do it for months! Glad you enjoyed.}

15 Nov 2016 16:57:27
In that case thanks Tris😉.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

15 Nov 2016 17:21:28
thank you so much ed001, don't need to post
thanks to all the other too, love this site, first thing I read in the morning ond last before sleeping;)

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate, it is the little messages like this that make it worth getting up at 6am every day to update the sites.}

15 Nov 2016 17:29:02
A fantastic read, that is all.

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate.}

15 Nov 2016 17:40:16
Dermot, the club did not get rid of Marsh and Pascoe (BR`s assistants) . BR personally got rid of them in a bid to save himself from the looming chop and that is common knowledge. Nobody gave BR a raw deal. You have more principles in your left pinky than BR. It was his arrogance (personal and tactical), dishonesty, coaching incompetence, and lack of taking personal responsibility for anything (just like his shameless mentor Jose), that lost us the PL, lost him the DR, the fans and eventually, got him the sack, as Ed stated numerous times at that time and now. He`s doing the same nonsense at Celtic right now but it`s a one team league so even he can`t screw that up, can he?

15 Nov 2016 18:25:56
Great read mate! Awaiting Ron coming onto this thread basking in his namecheck!

{Ed001's Note - don't tell him or he will get all bigheaded about it....}

15 Nov 2016 19:44:36
I remember the days when Ron was one of the most hated here and his comments had mad dislikes and so many negative replies, how times change now he's third on the popularity scale after Ed1 and Wonderdog.

15 Nov 2016 20:40:07
Tks Hamilton and Ed for the report and the reply.
It shows you the measure of the man.

He has gone to the only club in the only league that guarantees him champs league football and a chance to rub shoulders with Europes elite, but with the excuse of always being the underdog when they lose.

I didn't like the way he managed Stevie at the end.

I know a lot if ye have problems with Stevie but for me he's up there with the best.

15 Nov 2016 20:48:15
Forgot but more importantly cracking read ed1 top notch stuff!

{Ed001's Note - I am not sure Ron was ever hated, disagreed with but never hated.}

16 Nov 2016 08:27:51
Thanks for that excellent sum up ed, i feel like a sicophant because i tend to always agree with what you say and believe me i try hard not to. I too was extremly disappointed by both our league form at the back end of last season and i truly believe we could have gotten top 4 if we prioritised it the other teams were that bad last season.

And the less said about the europa league final the better. I am with ron having started the season a doubter. I know we are going to lift that trophy in may and will savour every step of the journey because it will be exhilarating.

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate, I am sure we have disagreed in the past though.}

15 Nov 2016 09:56:49
£28m for Sturridge according to the Mirror? Yeah and the rest.

Any hint of truth in him wanting away?

Believable2 Unbelievable5

15 Nov 2016 11:02:32
I don't know what is going on in his mind. He needs regular games to make it to the national team ( Fortunate on his side all three strikers are playing awful ATM ) . At some point he will take some hard decisions.
Summer in my opinion.

15 Nov 2016 11:14:05
If coutinho leaves the club in the summer and sturridge stays fit this season I don't want him going anywhere. He's a great player and 30 plus goal scorer a season.

15 Nov 2016 12:16:02
30 goal a season?

You forget that he hasn't bagged any yet in PL
he will get his chance when he shows the right work ethic.

15 Nov 2016 14:44:38
There is this talk now about Sturridge because he played well in a poor England team against a poorer Scotland team.
Maybe he wants away to be first choice somewhere else but there aren't many big clubs left that will sign him where he will have a chance of champs league football
He should knuckle down and thank his blessings that LFC stuck by him.

15 Nov 2016 14:47:44
lol big al, though I love Sturridge 30 goals per season? he's far behind mate, maybe 15-20 At best. I don't want us to get rid, don't get me wrong I believe in time he could be a 30 + goal striker but how long does it take? Do we cash in or? If it was upto me he's be given another year or so but I can't see that happening. summer I reckon he's out.

15 Nov 2016 14:54:24
Supermane he hasn't started mate. He has the ability and composure. He's been fantastic when he's came on. Mane, coutinho and Firminho have been top class. It's hard for him but he has to keep working hard.

15 Nov 2016 15:18:23
Big Al, that Studge that could score 30 a season no longer exists (and has no record of ever doing that previously either) and is a thing of the past, IMO due to his style of play and his injuries. He never was that type of stiker because for him to be that type of striker, he would have to be a Suarez both in ability and fitness levels (as Suarez plays through pain and never missed a game via injury at LFC) to play every game, all the things he lacks. I like Studge and want him to stay but if he or his body (ravaged by injuries at 27) will not allow him to do that, hen he is free to leave. The way we play, we can even withstand Suarez`s absence because goals are coming from all over the shop. Only two of the starting 11 have not scored (Clyne and Karius) and Clyne will not be long before he scores so goals will never be the issue under Klopp`s Liverpool.

15 Nov 2016 08:10:07
Sevilla winger Vitolo: "Alberto Moreno tells me LFC would really suit me. Liverpool is a great club with a lot of history. "

Have we shown any interest in the player ED02?

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Now that Moreno is handling the transfers, undoubtedly yes.}

15 Nov 2016 09:12:59
Alberto Moreno the secret agent!

15 Nov 2016 13:29:50
What is it with Spanish/ South American left backs at Anfield?

Aurelio spent too much time as a treatment table test dummy, Insua spent too much time in the canteen as a food critic, Enrique spent too much time on Social Media honing his marketing skills, and now Moreno is plying his trade as an agent!

I miss Riise. He may have been ginger but at least he was a footballer as his main profession haha!

15 Nov 2016 14:48:47
Haha! MK about right mate.

15 Nov 2016 15:20:11
Maybe Moreno should focus on trying to fix the amount of holes in his game rather than doing PR and handling transfers, things he`s clearly not good at.

14 Nov 2016 23:43:01
Hi ED thank for the great work you both do .

ED02 I'm from London but now live in the US. I've been living in Atlanta GA love it. I do try come back to England ever year, Anyway ED01 did you do you do a match review for the watford game? also can I the link for the podcast.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - I never got to see the Watford game in full, so was unable to write one sorry.

Sharkopod 1

15 Nov 2016 07:45:34
Bravesun, do you watch the reds games at Meehans on Peachtree street? I fly in to Atlanta fairly regularly and there is a great atmosphere in there on a match day if you get the chance. YNWA.

15 Nov 2016 08:55:19
Thanks ED001 .

No Gmac1975 but thanks for the info and I will be attending .

ED01 is they any truth in Daniel Sturridge is set to leave Liverpool in January, ?

Thanks again for all the hard work .

{Ed001's Note - nothing has been agreed yet, no deal has been done, but there are a few clubs showing interest if he is available, such as West Ham United. Their issue is that they massively overspent in the summer, after having to be debt-free to get the Olympic Stadium. They have immediately placed debt on the club, following the move, and are paying over the odds in wages, plus have transfer fees to pay off. I am not sure how they could afford Sturridge's wages, even if we agreed a deal for them to loan him. It would place a major strain on their already strained finances.}

15 Nov 2016 10:13:55
Thanks ED let's hope we keep him fingers cross.

15 Nov 2016 11:15:32
I hope he stays. He's a great player. Really hope he gets back into the first team somehow.

15 Nov 2016 11:58:44
Hopefully he drops in to lead the line once Mane heads to the ACN with Firmino moving to a wider role. A run of a few games will be just what he needs to get his season started. He looked lethal in his cameo against Watford and also in some of his league cup matches earlier. We need to keep the lad, he's by far our best finisher.

15 Nov 2016 13:39:46
In all honesty, as soon as one of our front 3 drops out i'd get him straight in there, injuries don't make me forget how much of a brilliant player he can be.

15 Nov 2016 14:41:53
Agreed mate. Depending on how jaded the Brazilian boys are after their midweek game, there's a chance for some good minutes on Saturday.

15 Nov 2016 15:23:02
I hope Studge can take those chances because Klopp will not play players just because some people or said players whined not playing. He should do what is best for the teamd and as long as we are winning, I am okay with who doesn`t play.

15 Nov 2016 00:04:15
Anyone understand how the general public can get tickets this week? Seems to me that I cannot get a ticket until Thursday by when I would imagine tickets will have all been sold out.

What's the point of buying membership if the tickets go to people who were lucky enough to get tickets last season?

Believable6 Unbelievable1

15 Nov 2016 12:18:30
It's always been this way.
