I was talking to a football journalist today (no names but he is a bald scouser) and he reckons a rare swap deal will happen in January. Reina and Walcott. Didn't say if any cash was involved either way. The Streaker.

Why would we do that when we'd have to buy another 1st choice keeper which would cost more than just buying walcott in jan?

Absolute rubbish

Do you really think Arsenal would want Reina?

Don't believe a word of this! All scousers have curly hair :):)
kidmillions

F*ckin hilarious kid, what next, jokes about robbers ?

Touchy reply wtf! Your obviously not a scouser. I am a scouser, that's why I've got a sense of humour.
Did you never laugh at harry endfields scousers sketch.
kidmillions

Kidmillions I still laugh at your post about a year ago, asking the Eds how you get the ladies ads to appear on your page!

Can everyone just get off it and stop trying to blame FSG for this Suarez Rumour.

It's always something with you people.

Never satisfied.

if anything praise Suarez for turning the opinions of these Journos (vultures) around enough to put a £40million-£50million price tag on him.

it only took him 20 months.

The journalists haven't got a clue. You can pick up an average striker who has lost his pace and goal touch for 50m these days. 65m for Luis at least.

cozinoz

"The journalists haven't got a clue."
Bit like you then mate.

An awful lot of journalists are not even proper football supporters? "You know Rugger and Cricket at school where always Top Jolly!!
kidmillions

You're right like that Tony Evans from The Times. What does he know about the game?

15 Nov 2012 23:00:12
Eds we were linked with Eiriksen during the summer (as were many other sides) just curious but did we have a real chance of signing him? I'm sure that ship has sailed now, I'm just thinking of what could have been! {Ed002's Note - I explained at the time that there was no chance at all he would sign in the summer.}

After watching Ibrahimovic's solo performance last night I cant help thinking he reminds me of our very own Andy Carroll-now there's food for thought

You are out of your mind mate. They are of a similar build. That is where the comparison stops.

Do you actually watch football? Or did you read that they are the same height so must be similar?

Ash

What's that his hair do!

Ozone

Apart from all the class and skill, check out some footage of Ibra playing for Ajax when he was Carrolls age and come back with an oppinion!!

Because their both tall?

I can see how you got there but Andy has a lot of improving in him before you can truly compare them, for mine. He does show glimpses of good touch, can belt a ball, can overhead, certainly can header, can show really effective technique (FA Cuo goal) however far too much reliance on his heading ability, despite it being a good bonus defensively, and is never convincing consitent and can look like the bad side of a big man too often. But he is young and his style can improve in time.

Andy K

In the fact he has a ponytail and is tall. Thats where it ends.

Welcome mate..we have carolls brother here in the banter page...seems increasing carolls potential and price...
ibra and caroll?...
leme have a long sleep

Carroll has a good touch!

Hahahhaha..caroll has a good touch??
touch of what???
plss no ways its gonna be a football....

Whoever thinks carroll will turn out even half as good as ibra is deluded. Compare carroll to Carlton cole, heskey... Thats his level.
Indian Buzzer

Maybe that was a ploy to get teams scouts, who read this page to buy carroll )speelling) for top dollar. Nice One.

Can't believe how naive people are re thinking about the big announcement today. It was the rumour which we instigated re Suarez so he and Rodgers could come out and deny it!

15 Nov 2012 22:30:16
Hi,
Has anyone got to the bottom of why Suarez celebrated alone versus Chelsea, seems strange??

Oh dear, will you people stop looking for things that aren't there?! Carra barely plays now, stands in against Chelsea and gets a Rare assist for a rare involvement in the box. There's your answer.

mozzilfc

Yes. Use the search function.

MIKEY

I think they all either thought it was carra who had scored it or were just so suprised that it was his assist that they had to congratulate him! They probably also assumed that the officials would somehow find a way to disallow the goal! simsimo

Did you not see all the previous posts about this? Were you at the game? If so, you would have seen everyone swamping Carragher for a very rare assist (1st in about 4 years)

I think everyone wanted to keep the momentum going, and wanted a quick restart.

Piledriver

Yes. You just haven't bothered to read that information thats been readily available on this site. Now that seems strange to me?

Has anyone thought that given the fact he gave (i forget who) a big shove in the back prior to scoring they presumed it would be disallowed.Possible?

Yes he shoved the guy who was holding his shirt - de Matteo didn't see that bit either

suarez... best in the world ? I wouldn't even consider him in the top twenty ! Liverpool still disillusioned.
champagne charlie

I'd love to see you list of 20 mate. I don't know about Saurez being a top top striker because of the chances to goals ratio but for me he is the most exciting player in the EPL. He can make something from nothing and is a tough son of a gun to boot. I just watched his goals from this season alone and some were simply out of this world. The one vs Norwich with the outside of the boot, the free kick vs Citeh and the equaliser vs Newcastle were sublime. Find 20 forwards playing better than him in world football this season, post it on here and I'll hand deliver your report to report to BR by weeks end to give him a head start on scouting & recruiting for the upcoming window. Wait until he gets a strike partner to drag defenders away and he has more 1 on 1 opportunities. The lad is ploughing a lone furrow up there for us and you talk this tosh. you know very little about football mate.

Chi_Paul

You might want to double check the meaning of 'disillusioned'. Maybe lay off the champagne and learn English.

By the way, 'deluded' is the adjective you were looking for.

Ash

Wow , you're calling yourself football fans , but you just didnt know who is world class player !? shame to be you man

I wouldn't say the best but right up there, I believe that you meant to say delusional so I might add if you think you can name 20 players better then perhaps you are also fitting of the delusional tag.

But you probably think Anderson and Carrick are better. Clueless.

Only one champagne charlie and that was souness , great player .

16 Nov 2012 11:32:24
Go on Charlie enlighten us with your endless football knowledge....... Which twenty forwards in the world would you have In front of Luis Suarez?

"The other important thing is that the squad is very united. In spite of not getting the results we would have liked, we have a great spirit of togetherness and let's hope we can continue to pick up points."

And people tried convincing me there was a dressing room problem, all over one celebration...haha

AsianRed

I think everyone wanted to win the match.....keep focused etc etc

it would sting if you level the match screaming for 1 minute then loose the match because you were overly excited.

Tiki taka will take time.
I mean several seasons rather than just a couple.
Barca didn't turn into world beaters overnight.
They developed from the ground up.
People say it works for them because they have xavi, iniesta, messi etc etc. But I think one of the main reasons that core group of players is so great is because they have an almost telepathic understanding of each others game, they grew up playing the same system in the same accademy with the same players day in day out for as much as a decade before they played for the first team. They see each other as brothers and put in the graft for the team rather than themselves.
When they do break through the football is exactly the same for them.
I'm pretty sure barca could play blindfolded, they always make the right pass to the right player at the right time.
That's what we are working towards, I believe for it to work at Liverpool we need to develop our academy so in 10 years
most of our team is made up of graduates who have that telepathic understanding of each other.
Save the transfer funds for when it's impossible to promote from below, that way we can indulge in world class talent rather than spreading the funds over several positions.
This system saves money in the long run but it's not about saving money, it's about producing something money can't simply buy, something man city and the like will never have. Perfect teamwork and understanding.
For me messi is the best player in the world but he doesn't produce the form for Argentina as he does for barca. That's the difference between being surrounded by your lifetime friends and colleagues and just being brought into another team. Must be worth an extra 20% to your game.
Liverpool have sorted the accademy, we are producing the talent, the talent is getting games. We just need to build our future around them. The goods will deliver and deliver big inbetween 5-10 years time.
We could get some mega rich owner in and win the title next year but where is the fun in that? It's just another short term fix whereas what we are doing now will reap rewards for decades or until someone thinks up another system that revolutionises football again.
Barca and a few others have the headstart on this football revolution but we are leading the way in England.

MIKEY

Most sense iv'e heard on here for a while Mikey, well said !! B

Tika is rubbish lfc won 5 european cups with out it

Exactly..but barca had players for tiki taka..
we dont have enough quality players...
anything and everything will work..if you have quality resources...

Barca do have the players to play that way.
Watch how many times they'll play the ball into feet to a player that's marked and marked heavily. They all have " Instant Control" it's the number one requirement to be a great footballer " It buys you time to get your head up and play"
kidmillions

Actually Liverpool won European cups with their own version of Tiki Taka, only we simply called it pass and move. Barcelona have used the greatest examples in history and made their own version. But it is essentially a European version of the old pass and move

16 Nov 2012 12:09:51
Mikey, would be adverse to any big signings in the next 2-3 years in order to fully perfect this and have a team of youngsters? Arsenal can be an example of how playing the kids and no big money players can leave you........
I'm just playing devils advocate mate,in all honesty i totally agree with you,but i still think Arsenal should be aan example of maybe taking it a step too far, the've done the hard bit, promoted youth consistently, have money in the bank yet dont as you say pay good money for the players that the youth system doesn't produce.
Excellent post MIKEY.
WelshBoyDave

Hey welshboy,
It would be great if our accademy could produce a player of quality for every position, that's got to be the ultimate goal.
But realistically you still need to bring in players like barca have done over the years.
If you look back, especially to the rafa years, every summer we would be bringing in loads of players. A couple of million at a time but plenty of them. They never had time to settle.
If we only bought one first team player a year with all our funds we could have the cash to buy world class. Because we would only be bringing in one player at a time the team will never be disrupted as much as it has in the past.

Someone mentioned that Tikal taka is just an updated european version of pass and
move.
I would agree, defiantly. But it's also an improvement on pass and move.
Barca have and always have been a very good team. But playing this system turned them into (arguably) the best club side ever.
Tiki taka is the way forward but I believe for it to really work then you need to bring through your youngsters so they have that understanding I was talking about.
It's not something you can really buy.
you just save your money for world class players like barca do.

MIKEY

Hi eds and refs!

I'm a lifelong Liverpool fan but still, I had to laugh and this joke I'm about yo write! But I'm also in agreement with it! So here goes!

How many Liverpool fans does it take to change a lightbulb ?

Answer
None they just stand around talking about how great there old 1 was!! Haha

Lol not bad

Tumbleweed.

That was on the Man United site...

We need some 1 hu can help us find the same structure of the old 1, do we hve the right 1 (rodgers), or old 1 still availible and already succes(benitez), instant succes, thats mean instant bulb replacement.

Man u had their bad moments and seem to forget how many managers they had in quick sucession before fergie , dave sexton, frank o'farrell , wilf mcguiness, tommy doc' , ako etc.they also had lots of panic buys in poor players. but they learnt from it take note please lfc.red mick tag ynwa

Think instead of a couple new strikers just give saurez a new contract every season lol.MATTYLFC

15 Nov 2012 20:40:19
Now Suarez has himself come out today and said he and his family are happy at Liverpool can we please stop reading the crap about him leaving. It's obviously Everton fans causing trouble. This site is becoming more and more duplicated and massively incorrect.

He's not gonna come out and say "know what, can't wait to get away" now is he?

Or he could have done the footballers equivalent of saying that it's his dream of playing in Spain or Italy sometime.

Hope he stays but players must know how to say the right things now following torres and the wrong things allegedly said by him.

15 Nov 2012 20:27:28
Hey all, i've been reading comments all around various sites about the current Liverpool Squad and the England Squad, and I personnally cannot believe what people are saying. There are so many complaints abouts both squads beeing to young and unexperienced, and everyone expects us to win from day one.

First of all, do you really, honestly want to win our first tittle since 1989 because of a quick fix, like Manchester City, and throw away the satisfaction of building towards success, so all our rivals can slate us as the next Man City? I for sure would prefer seeing kids grow up in a Red shirt and become champions in a red shirt, and for our rival clubs to have nothing to say about our victorious campaign, just admiration.

Secondly, FOR F**KS SAKE, are you all blind? Do you honestly not see the progress in our perfomances, in the shape of our team, in the maturity of our young stars that LFC has bred? Maybe the results aren't there, but we are so close from a tittle winning first 11, maybe not squad, but our first 11 is getting stronger day by day. Same applies to the England squad, which i see in the same place as the Liverpool squad right now. Both squads are in a transition period, and are showing alot of promise, with a great balance between young players and seniors, but now needs time, and minor tweaking.

Thirdly, the only thing i see in ruining all this hard work our club and nation has been putting in, is the dilusional demands of our fans, wanting it all, straight away. The more we complain, the more the people working behind, and on the scene are going to be under pressure and might even feel the need to "rush" the progress, which is not the answer.

Eds, i would truely apreciate for this post to be seen, because for Christmas I could only ask for one thing: Fans to come together, give the poeple who CAN make a difference, time, support, and intelligence. I beg my fellow LFC fans to follow me, and support my most beloved club through the storm, and rise victorious at the end of the effort, and feel the satisfaction of winning, with a squad we created, bred and love.

You'll Never Walk Alone.

Stop crying, who cares

Excellent post mate, couldn't agree more - think we are playing some great stuff and but for some truly awful decisions would be in the top four by now and everyone would be right behind BR and FSG ffs - it'll take time but we're def going in the right direction!

Irish Red

What rogers is doing, Wenger has been trying to do for years and as soon young players are ready man city and Barcelona and Man U, comes and throw millions, how has it worked for them? Ask gunners (apart for the owners making millions)

"Maybe the results aren't there, but we are so close from a tittle winning first 11"

Really? You've played a very similar starting 11 in most league games yet what position are you in. I think you may be stretching it a bit, needless to say

G

I loved this bit:

First of all, do you really, honestly want to win our first tittle since 1989 because of a quick fix, like Manchester City, and throw away the satisfaction of building towards success, so all our rivals can slate us as the next Man City? To start with the only supporters slating City are ours (possibly out of jealousy), but any way do I care how we win championship? "No"; as long as its legal I dont care, splash the cash or not, because once its there , you don't care how you got there.
As for Kids grow up? Do you know the average squad age of both United and Arsenal is younger than ours, City and Chelsea are just slightly over.

Roy

OP is deluded we are miles away from
a title-winning first eleven,we need major
investment we are 13th in the league
for a reason,we haven't won enough

Really worried about our squad quality. Simply don't get enough goals. All the top four, top six, have proven they can get goals from anywhere. We rely on Suarez. Supposing he gets crushed against a defender at the end of November/Start of December and he breaks an arm or shoulder. I don't want this at all, but where do goals come from? We haven't had one match where we have looked lien scoring from anywhere and that is what I think will cost out season. Replacements/Back-Up just isn't good enough, look at Borini, Downing and Henderson in comparison to United (Nani, Hernandez, Carrick) or Chelsea (Moses, Sturridge and Marin) or City (Sinclair, Dzeko and Garcia). They are the top three teams in England by some miles and it will be 3/4 years before we or any challengers gather a squad to even challenge that. Sadly, F$G won't give him that time and we have the threat of becoming a team in endless transition.
WinchesterRed

Dude..its not about money..
BR was forced to introduce the youngsters...coz of the useless players we got in henderson, downing..
KK wasted millions...Yes I repete Millions in these rubbishs..
New castle has openly said they are thankfull to LFC and caroll for 35 mill..
and they want him back for 15 mill..
we just pissed our money...KK is sole resposnible...
we blewd 16 mill on henderson when we could have bought a world class midfielder for 20 mill any where in the league..
20 mill for a winger downing...we could have bought two class quality with those money..
and 35 mill..
you can buy real good two striekrs who combines can score atleast 30 goals a season..
cant blame FSG and BR..
he sees sterling, suso and wisdom ahead of henderson, downing and enrique..

15 Nov 2012 20:14:56
Just do not know why people cannot move on from Rafa?

I can bet my bottom dollar that he will never again have anything to do with LFC yet there are some who are still in a delusional state that he will one day return?

Seriously, all of those who are in this delusional state need to move on. Rafa will never again have anything to do with LFC and that is a FACT. Why can those who roll out the red carpet for Rafa not realise this FACT? Move on!!

Rafa is history. Plain and simple.

Liverpool FC is a sleeping giant but if given time we will once again rise to the occasion. Give Rodgers a chance, he is young, has a footballing brain and I am 100% positive that he wants to succeed.

Give the man a chance!

Red4Life

FACT - Rafa is a proven world class Manager. I hope Rodgers succeeds but have reservations. What exactly has he won? Yes - sweet FA!

Instead of dismissing Rafa like a worn out shoe - you should be begging for him to return if (when) Rodgers finally leaves.

Red4Life -you need to see a Doctor - your amnesia is getting worse. Just to jog your memory - we won Europe's top trophy in a thriller in Istanbul - under Rafa. Now we just watch other teams competing for it on the telly! I'm not blaming Rodgers for that but the worst start to a season since the 50's doesn't exactly justify your optimism.

redmersey

Red4Life; Have you had any counselling about your Rafa problem ..
Good well soon mate.

Roy

Whilst I agree we need to move on and I don't want him back, Rafa did a magnificent job at LFC and he will always have an association with the club due to his great achievements and the respectful and humble way he conducts himself. His support for the victims of Hillsbrough has been amazing. He's a true legend and that's how it should remain for me. Never go back.

Rafa Benitez won us the Champions League. Have you forgotten that? The lack of respect shown to a great manager, one who loves the club and who supports the Hillborough campaign so strongly, is disturbing.

I take it that you were asleep between 2004-2010?

15 Nov 2012 20:05:40
I'd say right now Suarez is a 50m pound footballer! One that is not in any way for sale. If City want him, then in my eyes we shouldn't even entertain any contact regarding him until 70m is mentioned. How many times have we made an approached for a player who was not for sale and had to pay what the clubs said he was worth to them!

70m or sod off.

Suarez will be a dream for any team. There will always be speculation around him. We would be extremely daft to sell him at any price. How many players out there have his passion and ability?

Rodgers said that he is staying, now get that into your head and stop posting rubbish.

Red4Life

How about sod off hes not for sale

Red1

Calm down red4life, He is a player like any, if we got offered 70m you think we wouldn't entertain it? Get that into your head! I think we would. I don't want him sold but we could add massively to the squad, our squad isn't about any one player, just because you don't like speculation, don't need to throw your toys out.

Sod off then I would imagine, lol

G

FSG would sell Surez if the price was right. They have already indicated buy young develop them sell them on for a profit....Surez would be no different

Suarez is loyal he is not going anywhere we should not be talking about prices, he has long time contract with LFC we should be looking at adding players not selling.

y dont people understand..that if a player doesnt wanna come to us..no matter how much money we have...we cant buy..
poepls says..with 50 mill we can buy 2 world class strikers..
world class strikers goes to world class clubs..to play with some good class players...we are in 13th league table and no class players with us..
so y benzema, huntelar, or higuain would come to us..when they can easily walk to juventus, inter, chelsea or UTD..
we need to reach top 4..to attract players...

15 Nov 2012 19:53:14
Some of us Liverpool fans are realistic. So do we not believe that the Suarez rumor is a false one? It's just the newspapers trying to make a story after an England loss, or before another boring International. And no prizes for guessing which papers started the rumor...

Piledriver

I'm in full agreement! When I said something similar this morning, I got told that I'm wearing rose coloured glasses and that I don't understand.

Heard the story on Talks**te last night about this Louis Saurez rumour. It first broke from a top sports journo who, i think , works for the Express or Telegraph. This journo has, in the past , been spot on with his other stories involving Man City. He came on the radio from Sweeden and spoke about it himself. he sounded the real thing and the other commentators and presenters knew exactly who this guy was. Apparently he has got a good reputation and is vey close to Man City so where all of this bol**ks about it starting in Liverpools boardroom comes from must be pure mischeif making. cannot remember the journo,s name but i am sure someone will know him.

Just watched a few highlights, really nice finish but what about the skill for Cavani's goal. Also that way he brought that ball down then smashed it from 35 yards leaving the keeper rooted, shame or crashed back off the bar.
What a talent, best forward I've seen in a long time.
JohnBoy

Yeah i actually get shocked when 20 minutes goes by without him doing something amazing. Top 5 strikers in the world if you ask me

ATM best in the world.

^ I pressed the agree button but Falcoa would run him close for that accolade!

Wonder if those City fans who are singing that staff act of a song to Suarez are mellowin to havin Suarez? Bet they are fickle fecks. They just wanna concentrate on someone they can afford like Falcao. Suarez is in the form of his life and is only gonna get better. He bagged another for Uruguay ad well let night. We have to let him at all costs, players aren't available who are anywhere as good as him, its all right getting mega money but who can make difference like him? I suggest that we purchase a quality striker to and maybe a couple more players to show him that we really do want to push on and not settle for mid-table mediocrity.

Hi all, got a bit of interesting news about Suarez. my sister's friend's dog's owner's second cousin once removed aunties uncle works at the Etihad and he has heard that City are lining up a £35 million bid plus Edin Dzeko!

I'd take that

Please stop with this type of "banter". It's overused and really really dull.

15 Nov 2012 16:37:53
Suarez will move to Manchester City in January with Dzeko + £5,000,000 being brought this way. Mark my words.

Dzeko + £5m pounds ? . I don't believe you

Make it Dzeko and £50,000,000 and Liverpool may consider.

Tom.

How many times do the editors need to reiterate that Dzeko will not be joining Liverpool? His wage demands are too high.

Red Owl

I just posted about Dzeko not being Liverpool bound, but I think I forgot to sign off. Red Owl

Liverpool can not afford to pay Edin Dzeko £150,000 a week. The wage structure at LFC has recently been 'reworked' to be sure that what nearly happened 2 years ago, won't ''nearly'' happen again, or so is said.

Suarez is on a lot less than £150,000 a week, so why would we swap Suarez for Dzeko and £5 million when Dzeko's wagers are 2.6 million more than Suarez's per annum as it currently stands and that is before a signing on fee is to be negotiated, agreed upon and ultimately paid.

Now the truth is out you look pretty silly now mate!

15 Nov 2012 16:08:54
I see some fans lying to themselves saying if suarez leaves I wish him all the best..haha you would be the same pips booing the crap out of him any time he plays against us..let's face it,brendan can shout his socks off that suarez is not for sale..but its up to Fsg to decide.if we were in the champions league I would say sell him at the best price and get a replacement..but we aren't so we need to build a team around him to challenge for trophies not sell our best players and go back to square one..even if they do sell him(which will hurt me more than torres),we can't get falcao or benzema, cavani, higuain so there no point..rodgers would spend the money on more average players..suarez alone can attract some world class players..his contract runs till 2017 and no buyout clause like torres.so they must be ready to smash another transfer record.(I hope it doesn't come to that)

Haha. Yeah, you are a real Liverpool fan. Come on mate, who do you really support? No need to keep pretending here.

I'm a Liverpool fan, and i agree with what is said. No point selling quality, if we can't get quality to come through the door in replacement.

Look what happened when the transfer pot was full, we bought average for the majority and it hasn't got us anywhere: Carroll, Downing, Henderson.

When we were in the Champions League we were linked with Silva and Villa and only money was the problem, not position or prestige. We were able to attract Xabi Alonso away from Real who were circling at the time and we were able to swipe Torres up.

We managed to get Suarez under precarious circumstances, with his relationship with Ajax manager Frank De Boer becoming untenable and being banned for 7 games for the bite on the P.S.V player, so the politics was right for him to move when he did. Luckily we had the funds from Torres leaving.

So, i don't think we should sell, not unless we really have got a couple of genuine quality players coming in.

It also takes some players time to get to top form, Suarez came in and i thought he did very well, but some said ''he doesn't score enough.'' Now he's scoring regularly and long may it continue.

Hi

can anyone tell me what the announcement was that everyone was talking about {Ed002's Note - There was nothing.}

15 Nov 2012 15:47:10
Alright guys, not a rumour, but just wondering what you guys think about this:

Would you take Edin Dzeko AND Mario Balotelli for Suarez (if City paid off Dzeko and Bal's wages to subsidize the move too)

Personally given out huge requirement for strikers, I'd take it. I love Suarez but he's just one player, and for all his brilliance, how long before the next event that puts him out for 1/4th of the season? Even though Mario is crazy too, at least we'd have a safe bet with Dzeko around too. Thoughts? -

Why would you touch Balotelli he is just an overpaid penalty taker.

Mighty reds

Never Ever Ever

BigD

Ballotelli is class! Shame he hasn't got a brain

Neither of them are half the player suarez is.
derryed

Balotelli is fine where he is - on the tabloid front pages and at the Ethiad. No point getting a pop star when we're in the market for footballers.

So suarez staying was the announcement?

Yes.. the "announcement"

15 Nov 2012 15:37:48
I was thinking after the game last night about Andy Townsend's comment regarding qualifaction for an international team. I think overall I disagree with some of what he is suggesting.

In my view Raheem Sterling and this week's "greatest player in the history of all recorded time" - Zaha - should not be playing for England in any shape or form. Born in Jamaica and Cote d'Ivoire, you play for those countries. I cannot get my mind into gear on why they should qualify for another country.

If you are born in the UK but your parents were Scottish then you can play for Scotland. But surely 'you' are English and should only be able to play for that country of birth?

It seems these rules are made to be broken to suit anyone at any time! Zola Budd - great distance runner born and lived in South Africa - oh, let's get her a passport and let her run for us in the Olympics. Then we have South Africans playing for England at cricket and Mo Farrar running for us at the Olympics and it all seems such a convenient sham. Great sportspeople but in thr wrong teams!

You could be born in New York, live in Brooklyn for 20 years, but because your dad's mother was born in Bolton - you can play for England! To many it doesn't matter. Just as long as we get the players we want.

It matters to me as I would like to see international teams and sports of players /sportspeople from the country they were born in. Now, if your parents are in the army and you are born in say Germany, then I can understand that. But to say people like Sterling, Zaha and Farrar are eligible because they have lived here as kids is laughable. So what is that rule? Is it you have to live here since you were 2 days old, or 4 months, or maybe 11 years - there is no rule that would qualify them to me.

Sterling is one of my new favourites at the club and has a very bright future with us and I love watching him play. He is a Brit and I hope we are all proud of him. Yet he is Jamaican by birth and should play for them. No shame in that and I would still admire him.

7ER

A woman can give birth to a child but the real mother is the one that brings up that child, so in this case the motherland would be England where they were brought up. {Ed002's Note - I rather suspect this will pass most by.}

I don't agree. If you're born and raised in a country then you have a point, but if you leave a country when young (under 7 say) and grow up and schooled in another country. Then who are you to say what connection should be stronger?
CQ

Who am I? The same person who might agree or disagree with the points made!
So your rule is 7 year then? Any reason to pick that? Maybe it's the right time to spot promising sports people?
We threw open the doors on immigration years ago so it seems fair enough in that context to throw the doors to playing for England open at the same time and in the same way!

It's nothing to do with connection. It's about WHERE you born.

Its all sort of the same argument in saying that this is 'my' country, and that you have 'rights' if you are born somewhere. Its not as if before you were born someone said, "Mother, please give birth to me in x or y country". Life is completely random, and at then end of the day skipping past theories of life, nationalities is all decided by politics and money - especially the case in football.

Where you're from should be determined from the personal connection or bond someone has made to a country growing up, not the randomness of being born on a particular piece of land - and then saying that must be the place you now represent, because you happened to have come out your mother in that exact location. By birth I am from France, because at the time my mother worked there and my father worked in England, even though the whole family is completely English, and I don't know a word of French. Yet it would be pretty weird if I ended up having to play for the France national team. Place of birth should be determined through heritage and roots over the length of a lifetime, not by instant birth place.

But back to football, the thing is Sterling will know he'll make a hell of a lot more money playing for England than Jamaica (sponsorship etc.), and I think this would help him sway any decision. Ask John Barnes, his opinion (and he talks a lot of sense) would be interesting to hear. Zaha's roots are probably more English, but if Drogba said he'd open up the Zaha Football Academy in the Ivory Coast for him or something like that, that could sway his decision right now. It should come down to an informed decision, but as you said it doesn't work that way now sadly.
RC

RC - interesting views and agree with many of them. But I don't agree about location per se: if I take your view then you could be born in Peru, live in Amsterdam until you're 14, move to Clapham and say you want to play for England. Not for me. That would make a mockery (already so I fear) of selecting nationals for a national team. After all, look at the media furore when we have a non-English manager!

So what happens if your born in England but christened in Germany ? And answer would be good . {Ed002's Note - "Christened" is no more than a naming right for a minority group. It means nothing.}

It's an incredibly complicated issue. Each and every case has to be taken on its own merits. Surely it is up to each individual to decide which country he wants to compete for, for whatever reason. Are Lennox Lewis and Greg Rydzewski Canadian? Probably, but if hey want to call themselves British, who am I to stop them. Bob Marley is half British, doesn't stop everyone for thinking of him as Jamaican. Bit random but hey ho.

Nick

Anyone see that British soldier who gave birth in Afghanistan about a month ago.
If that baby grew up with fantastic footballing ability do you think people will be saying he/she can only play for Afghanistan?
Sterling and Zaha have a choice who to play for an they chose England because they wanted to represent the country they grew up in and probably feel closer to.

MIKEY

It depends on them. Like I was born in Nigeria but moved to Ireland when I was 6....I call myself Nigerian and would probably play for Nigeria if it came to it. Your parents are the ones who remind you where you're from and I bet Sterling's mother would be devastated if he played for England.

On the other hand My cousins are in a similar situation to myself except they moved to America they call themselves American and their parents don't seem to fussed about that. I couldn't Imagine calling myself Irish but I probably act more Irish than Nigerian

So it has a lot to do with your parents I think.

GuvTOB

Look at Germany there's only about 3 or 4 actually born there what's the big deal? John Barnes was born in Jamaica but he played for England ?

For completely self serving reasons I agree. I live in Canada and our best players (Hoilett, Jonathan DeGuzman, Hargreaves, etc.) won't play for us because our national team sucks and they won't get exposure at major tournaments. The infuriating flip side to this is that our national team sucks and doesn't make major tournaments because our best players won't play.

Who cares? Just play for whatever international side wants you - you don't need to be a scouser to play for Liverpool, so why do you have to be English to play for England?

If zaha or sterling were murderers or criminals would Jamaica or ivory coast be after them?

This guys chatting balls, am sure England schooled is football devlopment so thats why he picked who he picked and he haf choice of 2

Ed's

What do you concider is the most reliable and realistic signings in January ? {Ed002's Note - A striker and one other.}

Autographs!

Eriksen and Walcott for around 30 million...

Downing Henderson cole and carrol out for around 30-35 million... {Ed002's Note - Carroll is on loan for the season so won't be going anywhere in January.}

15 Nov 2012 15:19:56
ed001/ed002 have you managed to find out about this Suarez to city rumour?

Thanks a lot
BigW {Ed002's Note - There is nothing serious in it with respect to Manchester City from my perspective.}

I think we could do a lot with 50 million though?

I really can't see the point in selling Suarez, no matter how much we are offered, there is not another player out there that is as good that we could get. And are we likely to attract anyone that is good enough once he's gone!

If we want to catch up with the top four Suarez is a player we need to keep, not just keep, but keep happy ie invest to improve the 1st team so that we can all see the club is moving forward. I hate to mention him due to all the ridiculous rumours lately but, one of the reasons Torres left was because of the lack of ambition shown by the club to improve. lets not make the same mistake again.

INVEST, INVEST,INVEST in January.

Its clear Rodgers doesn't want to sell, if it does happen I feel it will probably be down to the owners, and that would be a clear indication of their lack of interest and ambition to improve LFC, rather strip assets and make a quick profit!

We can do a lot with 50mil ? Torres springs to mind and alot of good that done for us

eds,
why don't you guys think that wanyama would be a great signing? He's got good physical presence in the middle of the park, can break up play and does pop a few in. Could be our yaya.

Secondly, to all readers and posters here, who would you prefer- butland or forester?

Lastly, great job eds.

To all fellow Reds, keep the faith. Good times are coming.

suarez for 80 mil if he has to go.

NILO {Ed002's Note - There is no interest in Wanyama from Liverpool at this time.}

There will be no announcement the story was about Luis Suarez and that's it. People adding there input and saying its a transfer announcement journos on twitter new the story but weren't willing to break it as it weren't there story so people just guessed it was Liverpool signing someone but it was just about man city Suarez. We aren't going announce a transfer in mid November

Brendan Rodgers vs Kenny

Would people say Kenny was doing a better job stat for stat this time last year.

Stop living in the past! Who cares? The only thing that matters is the here and now...
kidmillions

He had a lot more senior players like maxi Bellamy kuyt people forget this Rodgers is having to play teenagers Kenny did do a good job but its time to support Rodgers now as he said we need to look forward now not back. When we get Lucas skrtel and a inform pepe and even borini add a couple in January we will be in top 8 mix thays best we can hope for this season

Excellent job...henderson and caroll were banging in goals...and downing had most number of crossed to the box...

Not really, i'd say Steve Clarke was doing a better job last season as Kenny didn't really coach the team... Brendan Rodgers will be one of the greats of our club, i've no doubt about that, the way he has us playing already after just 5 full months in charge. We're only 2 strikers and a defender away from being a top top side IMO.

Rocky

Ridiculous comparison... Judge BR against himself it's a work in progress. Get behind him.

15 Nov 2012 14:00:52
Liverpool have had the hardest start of any team in the league.

During a transitional period with a few key injuries, we have already player Arsenal, Man U, Man C, Everton, Chelsea, Newcastle nad next in line is Tottenham! Then in 13 games, we will have played 7 top teams!

The results i am mainly dissapointed about are Sunderland, Stoke and West Brom. In my opinion, thats 7 points dropped. Had we played to the required standard in those games, we'd be right up their challneging, despite having played 6 of the top 7 teams in the league.

This season was always gonig to be tough. But maybe with the rub of the green, over the next 6 games, we can continue unbeaten and pick up 4/5 wins!

It seems to be coming together now, we're giving the top teams real tests. Draws aganist Everton at Goodison, Chelsea at the Bridge and Newcastle should not be over looked. Those are very positive results especially since we were arguably robbed in the Everton and Chelsea games.

Rodgers has us moving in a steady upward curve, and by Christmas i'm sure we'll sit around the 5th or 6th spot, and with 1 or 2 shrewd signings in January, who knows? CL 2013 might not be that unrealistic.

Keep the faith. Its the Liverpool way!

YNWA! (Adam)

I wonder who makes up these fixtures for the season , and it was a subject that we talked about at work , and I said that the Pool would be given a tough start , and we were .

i think if there's an anoucement today that it will be about new investors or new money coming into the club , it may also be about the when the work on the ground is going to be , because we cant buy anyone untill january then i think it wont be about transfers or players coming to the club , its the only thing that makes sense

Carlos Sim would be an ideal investor as he has shares in the New York Times which is owned by FSG {Ed002's Note - The NYT is not owned by FSG. As a matter of interest, if someone were to invest by buying say, 20% of the club for £90M, where do you think that money would go?}

I'll answer this one ed! The money would go straight to the owners. It would be their money and not the clubs. This investor would also not give money to the club for transfers, stadium development etc as they would likely not see a return on this. It is pointless bringing in outside investors as it only makes money for FSG not the club. But I suppose it could help the club indirectly by easing the burden on the owners. Really don't see it as anything that will benefit the club massively. I mean is LeBron James funding our January targets whoever they may be? Thought not!

Thanks for leaving this to me ed its good to see you passing on your duties to someone with superior knowledge! Much appreciated!

Brenden Rodgers has said suarez is not for sale , that should put this story to bed once and for all

15 Nov 2012 13:38:52
Suarez has his price, every player does.

How long is he going to be happy playing for a club in transition averaging a point a game when he's at the peak of his career.
If City want him, get the best price we can, upwards of 50 million please.

So then when we have 50 mill we can buy more mediocre players , plus any top player we go for will say " im not going there they dont have know one , who is my league and i will be frustrated , some fans on here talk out of their ar$e , i would rather get rid of sick note agger or skertal because we are letting goals in so they are not doing their jobs , plus suarez is doing his by scoring , so fans like you want to get rid of our best player and have the money instead and when we buy players of lesser quality you will be saying we should not have sold suarez , and then blame him for having no loyalty ,

at least if saurez and gerrard are at the club other quality players will come because of them , and for his price it should be at least a 100 mill , he is carrying our club and with no support he is the top scorer , you have no brains and your post shows that your a person

15 Nov 2012 13:04:18
It is vital for Liverpool FC to win the majority of their next 9 league games leading to the January transfer window in order to make the club more competitive (and thus attractive) to potential signings. The games on paper looks like this would be possible and with Lucas "linchpin" Leiva due back against Spurs, all things being well we should be hitting the ground running come the 7 game run up to the opening of the window.
All eyes will then be on Liverpool's owners...with elite clubs likely to be sniffing around Skrtel and Suarez we will see if FSG will finally provide Rodgers with backing to purchase at least 2 high calibre players that have the ability to turn the consistent 60%+ possession into goals and thus losses/draws into wins.
You would think that it's not rocket science identifying possible targets that could achieve this, particularly for a club that now has a top scouting structure in place; however I am sure its difficult convincing clubs to sell their best players in January and for reasonable prices.
You have to go back a few years now to the last satisfying January window...is this window going to be the one that finally restores confidence and believe? Our net spend since FSG came in has been less than the "top 5" (Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Utd) if 2x goal getters are available in this window surely Rodgers with get them in.

Cheers JK

Apparently, the Luis Suarez rumour was started by a Merseyside based journalist with close links to LFC.

The Man City heirachy are said to be very unhappy by these false rumours and believe that LFC are testing the water and hoping to encourage bids for Suarez by falsely linking him with Man City.

IF true this is worrying. After BR's comments you would suspect the leak came from board level. Another LFC manager on a collision course with our owners? It's possible neither club are behind it and agents are stirring things up again.

15 Nov 2012 13:52:25
This all sounds like a load of tosh. They've run out of things to write about since Luis has stopped diving for the past few weeks and is playing on top of his game, so this is their new column filler in their garbage newspapers.

Could be a ploy to give FSG the chance to come out and say they back the manager 100% and Suarez will not be sold.
Sort of like playing the spin in politics.
If they just come out and say they are behind the manager and X player is not for sale, people will wonder why they've said it.
This way they can say what they want under the guise of them responding to a news story.

bring back rafa, before rodgers destroy liverpool. bring him now now now.

Rodgers will get it right but as its been repeatedly said it will take time, it took Fergie 5 years before he won anything and if i remember right he was on the verge of getting the sack but look at him now. Although Rafa is a legend amongst us fans and will always be remembered as a legend.

15 Nov 2012 10:21:07
1st it is only a rumour at this point of time and my feelings are you should build a team around Suarez, however it's a two way thing, if we can't challenge then the better players will always leave to achieve more, Stevie nearly had his head turned all them years ago.

So I don't want him to go; however what if City offered us £40m + Guidetti. With the £40m used to buy Huntleer (spelling), Tello, Mvilla and a LB (I'm not for once saying we are interested in these players nor that they would be available or come to us - it's an example).

Would you take that?

Rush went to Juve and we bought Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge and Houghton, that didn't turn out too bad.

So not that I want him to go but newcastle sold Carroll to us and got a stronger squad because of it; if we had the money keep Suarez but he may force our hand when it's not a sellers market.

Remember its a banter page just trying to have some banter and see what £40m + a striker could do for the current team.

Hoola

No, as wouldn't selling arguably our best player not show the wrong signals to players coming in?

Keith

Huntelar, walcot, tello.
are u nutss?..y these players wanna come to us? coz we recieved 40 mill from city?
the pos we are in..at the moment...no one would come to us...

Hi Keith, it was purely a question; possibly who knows.

To the other poster; re read my post i didnt say they would or wouldn't come; so no I'm not nuts; as for the position we are in - Suarez joined us when we was in a lower position as did Carroll; also Sahin came to us (good or bad thats not the point of the post) from Real Madrid - Arsenal was his other option and in a higher position than us.

I believe that City have rubbished the Suarez rumours. So come on guys chill out.

Mighty reds

Maybe its FSG that leaked the story, trying to create a market for him? I hope not but you never know

They aren't going to come out and admit tapping him up now, are they? The simple fact is, EVERY team in Europe would want Suarez, why wouldn't they? Luckily for us, most teams in Europe couldn't afford him. That's the only thing that worries me a bit, which is that Man City could afford him, and we have publicly come out and said that every player has a price. The Sheik can afford any player he wants being realistic. Saying that, I am pretty sure he will stay, certainly hope he stays. Some things really are priceless!

Just been reading about the interest from man city in Suarez lol, I mean come on people, chill out! Take a deep breath! Relax.....city have balotelli, aguero, Tevez, dzecko as there forwards and they are reported being interested in falcao too.....no matter what in football there will always be rumours about top players n we just have to put up with it.... Now as for Suarez, he had the chance to leave in the summer but signed a new improved contract, he doesn't seem too be the type of player to jump ship n looks to be loyal to the club hes with which is very rare nowadays, he loves the city n fans too.....I just think its rumours coz papers have nothing else to talk about.....stop panicking people n stop throwing ur toys out of the pram, get real and stop believing everything u read on twitter or in papers..... Wait for some real evidence!

Ack17 not worried coz Suarez has a liverbird on his chest and Liverpool in his heart

Whats the chances of losing Suarez to moneybags man city..ridiculous transfer fee and stupid wages..dont care what anyone says money talks and if he were to leave I really cant see us bringing anything close to his standard coming to a mid table club at best at the minute..ever since we sold alonso and mascherano things have gone from bad to worse we are no longer taken seriously and are in serious danger of being left behind..owners need to seriously back brendan he's the right man for the job but just has'nt got the tools needed..FSG time to man up or sell up..

When Torres left even though it was for a lot of money, it may have been a different story if we had waited and let him partner Suarez who we had already signed. But we saw the dollar signs and ended up paying over the odds for an average replacement. Now we are talking about Suarez leaving in January. Surely we are not going to learn from our past mistakes.

If we do have to sell him then lets at least wait until the summer where we can formulate a plan to replace him when clubs are prepared to sell.

Kev the Red

Formulate a plan??
no chance of selling suarez...and thats the plan..
he is the only player on the ppitch..our opp managers fear...
torres would have never left if we could have kept our star players or buy them...

i would have left the club..

Many people on won't like this but.....in starting to think that FSG should have let us go into administration.

Jeeze, what's with all the threats and abuse because some tabloid said that Suarez is off the Man City/ they made a bid...or whatever!

What is wrong with you people?!

I try hard to defend LFC fans to other fans but its becoming increasingly difficult! Even in Birmingham (where some of my family and friends are from) we're looking bad.

Miserable, ungrateful, unrealistic......are the words that spring to mind when it comes to this new breed of supporter

K.Bennett

K.Bennett, can you not understand that people might be a little bit upset at the thought of losing the clubs only world class player, who has carried us so far this season?

No, you probably can't, just pop those rose-tinted glasses back on and carry on regardless.

Yes, I can understand that......however....there's actually nothing to be worried about at the moment. No one, including Man City have said this story has any truth to it.....why the panic?! The overreaction is based on a tabloid story....really people?!

If anything, LFC fans should know first hand how manipulative tabloids are! Why is this story being believed?

Look, I don't want Luis to leave either.....but I'm not gonna insult our owners because some media outlet is trying to scare us all into panic!

Rose tinted glasses? Well yes, I love LFC with all my heart and I would rather that then turn on my own like has been happening for like a year now!

LFC have the most segregated fans at the moment. Infighting, insults, instant panic arising and caused by almost anyone who wants to cause chaos with a story such as this!

As I said, FSG should have let us go into administration......that would have prob been a reality check that some people obviously need!

K.Bennett

K.Bennett probably buried his head in the sand when Hicks & Gillett took us to brink of financial ruin.

Lol, in what way did I bury my head in the sand? And what does have anything to do with my post?

I'm gonna keep on supporting the team, Brendan and FSG while wearing my rose coloured Ray Bans ;).....you continue panicking if you want.

Sounds to me though that some people on here want a reason or an excuse for FSG to sell the club......carry on....you may just get your wish!

I really hope we sign Jack Butland in January for £8m as i think should he fulfill his potential then he could save the club a fortune in the not so near future and is only 19, we could buy him in Jan and loan him to B-ham til the end of the season.

BigD

He really isn't any good.

Maybe the announcement today is related to FSG being backed by investors which will change the outcome in the transfer market as there will be more funds for new transfers.

Speculation currently exists about possible partners for FSG and it may be announced shortly?

15 Nov 2012 10:12:46
Just be patient, fellow fans. If we are signing someone he can't play before 2nd January anyway and if we are selling someone hopefully he has already played his last game giving someone who is staying a chance.

Eds & Reds,

Theres a lot of speculation as to how much money will be available in the transfer window for BR to spend. Some sources on here are quoting there will be nothing, some say a little and some say we have a lot and we are just keeping it quiet so clubs don't demand inflated transfer fees.

However, is it not true that FSG were willing to wedge up BR with the cash for Carrolls replacement early? As in before they actually get the fee for Carroll? Surely this will mean BR has at least 13-20m from this deal + whatever extra Mr. Henry would like to put in + whatever he generates from player sales.

With some players futures in doubt now (Cole, Downing, Henderson and dare I say it.. Pepe) it looks like some extra cash can certainly be generated.

These factors combined I am sure BR will have a substantial amount to spend in January to hopefully bring in some class. Llorente would be my farfetched dream but remains unlikely.

Believe in Rodgers. Believe in the team.

Fowlers Nostril

I believe in Rogers, but I don't believe in FSG.

My gut feel from what has gone on before is we will have to sell before we buy. The question players will ask themselves before they pick us over others will be ambition of the club and so far FSG have shown none. Their talk is cheap.

Simon O

I don't think their talk is cheap, after all they spent 140mill+ over the last couple of years. I think KK splashing the cash on mediocrity last time has made FSG too cautious in the transfer window and they are afraid of a repeat.

I sincerely hope we do not have to 'sell to buy'...

Personally, I think the City Interest in Suarez is real, they will bid, but I cannot see Suarez leave, I know many said the same about Torres, but Rodgers stated a few days ago it would be a disaster to sell Suarez like we did Torres, its clear to me now he was aware of interest and was quickly making his stance known. his way of telling the fans he is not interested in a sale. Suarez leaving would make no sense at all, the boardmanager could not recover from the backlash from this.

I would never say never but i doubt this will happen,

Hes not going to stick around forever, if a champions league teams with ambitions of winning the premier league and other trophys comes in for him, he may go, as if he stays then its at least 2-3 more seasons before he can even think about champions league with liverpool

Liverpool FC is a business. There is no room for sentimentality in any business and like all businesses if the right offer comes along it will be sold. Likewise players. If a big enough offer came along any and every player is for sale if the price is right. RED LENIN

FSG dare never step foot on british soil again if they sell suarez!

How many games do they actually attend anyway.
They are more like 'distant landlords' than real owners.
They will sell Suarez, I have no doubt about it.
Their motives are money, money, money, and screw what the fans think.
Nothing more than 'perpetual procrastinators'.

Any British soil? What if they want to set foot on the Pitcairn Islands, Gibraltar or Montserrat?

If fsg sell suarez then they should expect to loose millions of fans worldwide, have an empty stadium, season tickets in the bin and should never step foot in england again for their own saftey. {Ed002's Note - Footballers change clubs all of the time but don't have to suffer the fickle fans like you. As for your threat to their safety, it is the type of message being sent out which will lead them to unload the club. THis is the type of supporter they seem to have now - a rumour of interest from another club in a Liverpool player and you start threatening the owners. Great.}

Brilliant response ED - Keegan left, Rushie left, Fowler left, Torres left, McManaman left ( for free as well - now there is a judas ) - made no difference to fan base - just hatred towards them by a minority of small minded fans.
If Saurez leaves, good luck to the lad - someone else will be bought for fan worship..

John B

Well said ed, these are the type of fans we could do without.....grow up and get a life

Well said ed2. How people try and get far on in life by threatening people cracks me up.

Mighty reds

So ed..u suggest what are we supposed to do?
continue our suport in buying players like downing and henderson?
ridiculous...
i am not and never against FSG..but common selling suarez?...he is the only player in our club who can attract someone to our club..
the way he plays is magical for me and liverpool..
a perfect no.7....
rafa once denied 70 mill bid for torres..
he even said open..u sell torres..and i walk away..
BR be bold and dont loose him... {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are complaining about. The great God Dalglish pissed the money up the wall on those players - moan at him not me.}

Liverpool wouldnt accept a bid unless it was for a huge amount, we dont want or need to sell him, and even then a deal wouldnt happen unless Suarez wanted to leave.
If he were to leave though (as much as id like him to stay) the money we get for him could be the making of Liverpool again, Suarez plus other player sales, bit of investment from the club and your looking at 100mil.
Look at Newcastle when they sold Carrol for 35m, invested wisely and finished top 6 last year.
FSG will do whats best for the club, and listen the manager + player. Too many people on these sites think players are mindless drones and have no input if there transferred

THE CLUB IS,ALWAYS HAS BEEN,AND ALWAYS BE,BIGGER THAN ANY PLAYER AND HAS NO NEED OF 'FANS' LIKE THESE. I hope that Suarez stays but I would like to point out that most of us (those that work, that is!) have left jobs to take others where we have believed that we would be better off qua salary, qua bonuses, qua promotion, etc, and footballers are the same (even though they are massively overpaid for what they do). Let's not forget that Suarez joined Liverpool from another top club. I personally hope he stays but if he does go I wish him all the best. It is now up to the rest of the team to show him what he would be missing if he decided to leave. There are eleven games left this year so let's hope that there is some (more) progress in that time.
Ben Terug

It beggars belief that such "fans" would take it on themselves to even suggest threatening someone in the above manner whether it's said in the heat of the moment or not. Unbelievable.

Well said Ed002.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Ed dont worry...it wasnt to you..and actually...I dont like KK these days..
torres betrayed..people hate him..
KK wated 100 mill in sea water...people love him..
strange!!!

Eds,
All of this paper talk re the interest in Suarez from City etc got me thinking.. Is there a buy out clause in Suarez's contract to your knowledge? If so do you know the amount? Much appreciated!

D16Red {Ed002's Note - No there won't be.}

Someone tell me another football club that has wasted money hand over fist in the transfer market like we have over the past few years...
We miss targets when they are good value. waste time and money sending scouts to watch players without making any firm bids, we are being linked with players now that we could have bought cheaper years earlier. And if we attempt to buy Tom Ince a year after letting him go for next to nowt I will be convinced we are being run by mancs and will put my head in the oven. grrrrrrrr
Dave

I hate it when people talk about 'missing out' on players years ago that are good now - (a) if we had signed them then, they might not have developed as well as they have done and (b) you don't know how many players we also 'missed out on' that have done nothing since!! Just focus on the players that we can sign now!

Hi guys, i didnt watch the game last night. Just wondering how did Kačaniklić fare for the swedes? Cheers. ZA13

He played really well and should have been given a chance at LFC.He was very direct and has shown at Fulham that he will be a decent player. Its a shame as we got rid of him and Dalle for Cash and Konchensky great deal or what .

Luis Suarez:
Reasons he won't leave:
Playing out of his skin for Liverpool
Top prem scorer
Adored by Liverpool supporters worldwide
Lots of friends within the club Lucas etc

If he did it would be for Spain or Italy because he is:

Hounded by every teams fans in the country
Hated by the media
Most pundits
FA

Citeh have no chance they think they can say jump and we say how high. Personally I think it's all paper talk to unsettle him. Is this not classed as tapping up?

Lee73

Money talks, FSG are a business, they will sell if it in their best interests (money).

Here is a 1/4 of a million reasons he will

To be fair, it isn't just up to FSG - Suarez has to agree to it too!

Why is everyone having a heart attack over one or two garbage news articles with ZERO direct quotes?

Suarez is a Liverpool player and looks like he will be for a long time. There's so many reasons which point to him staying rather than leaving. Here's why:

1) He loves the club and the fans.
2) We have supported him through thick and thin, he has stated numerous times that nothing matters as long as Liverpool fans back him, and he will return the favour.
3) He really has no reason to want to join Man City, a club built around massive egos and massive wages.
4) Brendan Rodgers obviously will not want to sell him, and appears like he would fight hard to keep him at whatever cost.
5) Paper talk, twitter talk, nothing official. Who says City will definitely bid?
6) He recently signed a new contract, and I believe he is a more genuine person than Torres ever was.
7) Look what happened last time City went after one of our players, he got YNWA tattoo'd on his knuckles and signed a new contract.

Keep the faith and calm down, I for one believe Suarez will be here for years to come. Looking forward to Wigan on Saturday, 3 points would be lovely.

City needs him bad..
becoz they want someone like him to create and score..
nasri is a grabage for them..
with silva, tevez and suarez behind any striker in the world..
he could score atleast 100 goals..
and machini knows it..
but we wont sell him...
simple..not even for 100 mill
becoz..we always says..money dont buy everyting...

I can't see them wanting Suarez - he's too similar to tevez, augers, and then silva is creative too. They're more likely to go for flacan, someone to play up front, to stick the ball in the back of the net/make space for the players behind!

Lots of talk of Suarez going to City in the papers today.

Seems like a clever little ploy to get some more money out of FSG in January if you ask me.

Maybe the Brendan guy is even smarter than we thought!!

Hahah! :)

So the English champions have tried to get our best defender and are now apparently after our best striker to save their season.
Seems we still have players that make even the best teams envious.

We must be doing something right eh.

MIKEY

I can't see any of the Suarez rumour being true really can't see him going to city(i hope not)maybe abroad but not city, however £50million plus Aguero and w have a deal!

Square tomato

Good...
but who will create for aguero???
shelvey? allen ? gerrard (only posibe), downing?? or lucas?

we need a striker...+ suarez , sterling and suso behind...

Suarez will not leave for Man City or any other club in January. Billy Wizz.

Billy i hope you are right but it may happen people know that lfc are now a selling club with no money to invest in decent players so a big offer for suarez will tempt the owners i am sure .
but if the offer for ince is true this makes lfc look worse than they already do in the transfer market. red mick tag ynwa.

Brandon Rodgers will get 20m+ to spend in January plus player sales.

in
Two players will sign for the starting eleven.

1. 22 year old Striker Lacina Traore from Anzhi - £20-23m (Anzhi want somewhere around £23m(28m euro) as it would give them a clean profit of 10m euro)

2. 20 year old Attacking Midfielder Christian Eriksen: Ajax. price is £20m but we will offer £18.5m (23m euro)

Two players will sign on pre contract for the summer.
1. Medo Kamara, 25, DM - Partizan
2. Alex Pearce, 24, CB - Reading

out
Downing, Henderson, Cole, Pacheco and Doni will all leave.

Doni - free

Downing - £8m

Cole - £2m (as a payoff/compromise he will get £2.5m which is the wages he would have received if he stayed until the end of the season)

Henderson - £8m (as Eriksen is joining and Lucas is returning)

Pacheco - £1.5m
= £19.5m

Id rather recall Andy Carroll than pay that much for Traore. i thought he'd be around the 10-15 mark but that's ridiculous
NZL_red

IF buck is even looking at Traore to improve Liverpool he should just quit..let alone at that kind of sum..
there are a whole host of quality players we could get at 10-12 million and we target traore of all people..garbage news or pathetic scouting..

If u want player like ericsen, falcao, jovetic, ribery, rossi, fabregas, muniain, isco, honda, u need a manager at the same level, no 1 hu neverve manage a top or midle side, this guy is low club trainer and wen he comes 2 bigger club he throw plyers away like a dust, player hu wudve been wery critical (carrol, aquilani, kuyt) now i mention aquilani, allen wont be not now and any nearer future better than aquilani, adn kuyt wen u get rid of 1 player as him, and y bring another same 1 (borini) dosnt make sense.

Just want to ask do you guys really think there are any legs in this Huntelaar deal considering our policy?

I have to say, I really can't see how the Huntelaar deal could go ahead for us. The guy is 29/30 and prob looking at getting at least a 4 year deal at the best wage he can, min-80k+pw, on top of a 8m fee. Madness for a guy unproven in the EPL at an age thought to be the wrong side of peak. Joe Cole comes to mind . . .

Just doesnt fit, I'm predicting a very disappointed and upset group of LFC fans in January if I'm honest.

With Borini to be back in January, I think I'd much prefer to continue with our policy and bring in a younger talent ... being Irish, my bias is leaning on someone like Shane Long, 25, quick, great in the air, alround torment. For anyone who's not familiar with him, hard working and knows where the net is. Wages 40/50k pw, maybe a slightly higher fee, apx 10-14M to get him away from WBA. Maybe wishful thinking, but I really consider it more of a possibility considering our current policy.

Irish Red - Dublin :-)

Shane longs not good enough. Maybe you should take off your green tinted specs. I agree with huntalaar though, he may not be value for money.

MIKEY

Can't see the hunterlaar deal! Schalke v arsenal, the schalke fans at the emirates were singing spurs songs at the arsenal fans to which hunterlaar put one hand to his ear and beat his heart with the other! Also I have a journalist friend near koblenz who informs me that he has it on very good authority that van der vaart has told his good mate to go to tottenham should he (hunterlaar) go to england?

Have to agree, Not good enough? lol he's already better than Borini and he'd of cost about what he cost.
He's defo good enough and loads of room to improve. Haha! Have to laugh, Young wasn't good enough either, wasn't fancy enough name playing for Villa, should of got him the season before he went for 17m to united, Jelivic as well, there's a list of names LFC fans turned their noses up to for years like moronic snobs, only for the player to turn out a decent buy, think LFC fans would want to stop blankety talking crap, being so impressed with shiny foreign names as though they're better. It's a good solid shout, I'd pick Long 10/10 over most foreign crap we've been linked with, we're not LFC of old who can walk out and spent 20m+ on a worldie

Long would be excellent value for money and looks like he's a small improvement away from being a top player in the Prem league, might defo be worth a punt if Borini is worth 10 million
