hi eds none liverpool related but was wondering on what your opinions are of rio ferdinand being left out of the euro team? {Ed001's Note - had to be done, he has looked a shadow of himself all season. Far too busy with off field activities these days. His legs are going as well, without that lightning acceleration he once had, he is going to concede chances.}

So basically the ame as what carragher has hown this year (love him he is a legend) i meen carra was never the fastest but it just seems its caught up with him BostonRebBlox {Ed001's Note - pretty much, though Rio still has a bit of pace left. I can't see him lasting more than a year or two more at United, he is defo on the downhill slope. I would still choose him over Terry if that was the choice though!}

You had better get used to Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham always being above us.
It is about money and players.
We certainly don't have the players. Gerrard is almost finished due injury. That leaves: Lucas, Suarez, Carroll, Agger and Skertel. You can forget about the rest.
Welcome to a mid-table future.
Don't get upset.
Just face reality.
See you in a years time when you agree with me.
Rafa's time will be looked as a Golden Period.
Don't get upset now, the truth hurts. It's all about money now, and Man City have loads.
Get used to it !

It's always been about money to an extent so I must say I have to agree. People may look back fondly but when we were successful we outspent evryone else, then united have done it, now man city!
This is such an important period in our
history because if we start losing future generations of fans through buying crap players and bringing in poo managers like Martinez then I am afraid we are doomed!

Peter

Its about the money? Spurs have only spent £18 mill in two years

Love to see you in a years time ...your name again?

Weve spent more than arsenal and spurs

Sorry to hear you aren't well Ed, hope you feel better soon (I've gotta feeling your gonna need all your strength over the next few months)

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - I am hoping I will have got it all out of the way for the transfer window! Cheers for the well wishes mate.}

Sky sports are saying crouch. Ferdinand. Walker. M richards and possibly parker to left out of euro squad but Carroll will be going to poland and Ukraine. Obviously just rumours I was just wondering people's opinion if this turns out to be true. Great for Carroll and if he has a good torniment and boost his confidence it will be good for us. Disappointed for crouch and I think the rest are injury concerns. I'd be happy with this outcome I've been really impressed with Carroll for the last 4-5 games and with Rooney suspension it could be a really good summer for the lad. Liverpools season is over and until the next season starts I will be supporting England and especially the Liverpool players playing in Poland and the ones in London. I'm thinking Gerrard and Carroll in Poland and hendo and shelvy in London.

Eric the red (just trying to lighten the mood from all the doom and gloom and insults flying round today)

Macca

First off, thanks for the info you've passed on over the years does make the day go by quicker!

I don't think Kenny will be sacked, King Kenny is the greatest legend at the club, the last thing FSG would want is to not keep the King on board, I believe he has one year left on his contract? my guess is he will see it through and then probably move upstairs if we don't get 4th- that would be sensible but you never know mate-

15 May 2012 23:24:34
FSG are having problems trying to understand the situation. They have tried to apply business principles, statistics etc. To a situation that requires football intuition. Which they don't possess. Same old situation, run around asking everybodies opinion and getting confused. Everybody has a different opinion. If one knows one's subject, the answer is obvious. FSG don't. Perhaps in the USA they do. But British 'soccer' - they have to rely on the opinions of othes. They will get it wrong and panic in 9 months time.
A pity Dubai didn't take over. {Ed001's Note - you mean DIC? Because they went bust shortly after failing to take us over. You might want to take the time to think things through in future.}

Ridiculous post

15 May 2012 22:58:42
I think its really important we buy early, before the euros. We need to buy cheep players that are world class too. Bout time our scouts found a hidden jem

King Kenny this, King Kenny that.
There was a time when Liverpool supporters knew what they were talking about.
Nothing will be won under this 'King Kenny'. Apart from penalties in the Carling Cup. He has won nothing or will win anything. He hasn't done since the mid 1990's. There is too much unthinking sentiment here. Too much nostalgia. That is not a winning attitude. It is a losers attitude. Remind me of this post if this 'King Kenny' stays for another year. Why cannot you understand how much the game and tactics have moved on !
The Yanks understand football. Give me a break. They might understand their weird games, but not futobal.
Chato pah ! {Ed001's Note - is 1999 the mid 90s then? Only he managed Celtic to a trophy then.}

No he didnt , does the headline SUPER CALLY GO BALLISTIC ring any bells he won nothing with celtic and they barely finished 2nd that year !!! {Ed001's Note - he won the Scottish League Cup with Celtic in 1999. That was John Barnes that managed them to defeat by Caley. No good trying to argue a point when you are wrong lad.}

15 May 2012 22:46:54
I do think kenny has to go , but I'd rather have kenny over martinez.

For me a manager who keeps a team in the prem , shouldn't be looked up on as being successful.

If our no1 Target can't be secured then sticks with kenny until we can.

LAVERS

Tough to compare managers, since one club may spend 100 million more on players than another. It's not like stock car racing.

Whenever you hire anyone, you are taking a chance.

I Believe We Will Sign The Following;

CM-Rasmus Elm-7 Million
CDM-Mohammed Diame-Free
CAM-Gaston Ramirez-16 Million
LW-Junior Hoillett-Free
ST/LM/CAM-Clint Dempsey-8 Million

Who would swap Riena for De Gea.Who would swap Agger Skertal for Ferdinand Vidic/Enrique,Johnson,Kelly for Evra Rafial. You get the idea CM we are stronger ,wings ok even Nani would walk into our team let alone Young ,but up front support striker Shrek I grudgingly admit is probably better than Suarez but what else do they have up there[Carrol has looked keen and dangerous 4 the last few matches and red nose would sign him tommorow 4 20 million].So why are we 37 points behind the winners. man city/spurs and chelski have the best/most expensive squads, united, arsenal and US are in the 2nd tier of squads,so the question is how do united beat us by 37 points with a squad where the goto guys include Park/Carrick and oap's Scoles and Giggs ,the only possible answer can be managment.Discuss

The answer is in your post - Utd got an extra 30 goals from the fwds, mids and wings you mention - that's where the extra points come from. We need to get the ball in the net more. Discussed.
Red Derry.

No, i think its quite simple really, they can finish their chances, grind out the 1-nils and have luck (which was absent for us this year). But if we could learn to win 1-0, make anfield a feared fortress and get the strikers scoring, top 4 for sure.

I would put it simply down to 3 factors.

-Lack of finishing chances
-Our wingers being very average
-Lucas being injured (leave's our Midfield a lot weaker)

Ska-oop

Stability and a winning mentality.

Both take time.

AK

Could the difference be the manager?

Would like to ask blair would he trust kenny with another 100 mil.MATTYLFC

I will answer Yes.
Red Derry.

If he bought players like Ramirez, Soldado, Muniain etc MATTY mate. I would have no problems with Kenny getting another 100mill.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Iam not blair but id trust him more then u with 100 mill

But we won't end up with them players we will be getn middle of the road players.So expect to see the likes of Shaun Maloney carlton cole etc etc coming through the shankly gates.MATTYLFC {Ed001's Note - not a chance in hell either of them are of any interest.}

Like Mr Broughton said MATTY mate 'Keep the faith' things are not that bad.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Try filling up your half empty glass ffs Matty. Why fly on planes if you think you're going to crash?

cozinoz

Kenny won't get anything near 100M

So its a mute point

15 May 2012 22:27:18
I can't believe we are still talking about players signing for our club. Who would want to sign at the moment.

At the present time we are not a stable ship and that has been caused by FSG. We all assume Ian Cotton has been sacked due to the Suarez case along with the solicitor. Why the Head of sports science? why head of International schools? why head of customer experience? why goalkeeping coach (praised by Dalglish)?. No reasons or direction is coming from the owners. What happened to strong leadership at the club during the Suarez case from FSG Answer Nothing! What happened to the stadium issue Answer Nothing! How much of own money have they really put in for transfers Answer Nothing!

Today has been a total farce. Everyone man and his dog has seen all the rumours. Why not release a statement saying that the club is behind Dalglish. The lack of communication is promoting instability.

On the football side the league form has been poor. I agree with Macca though it was after the Arsenal game. They played brill but lost. It knocked the stuffing out of them and things went down hill. The cup form has been great beating the likes of Man U, City, Everton & Chelsea. I personally would give Kenny another season. I would ship a few out and bring a few in. I really think if we get the right players we will do well but FSG need to show strong leadership

I would think carefully next time before posting,
i'll let you work it out for yourself.

plz leave a name.

IBIMO

We are a famous club, with the best fans, and a club that pay high salaries...if I had a chance to play for our club and be part of bringing it back to the top I would...

Yes but you are a fan not every professional player is mate

15 May 2012 22:14:54
Has anyone considered that the king may have been called to the meeting regarding the north america tour, next years signings e.t.c,this season i agree we aint been good enough but try this for size,

1, torres hands in transfer request(now he has to look for striker under fsg policy)
2, 8 match saurez ban(the whole saga was a mess)
3, carroll hitting form at end of season(not really kennys fault)
4, gerrards injury
5, lucas injury (this is a big loss)
6, the woodwork( had them chances gone in we would defo be in top 5).

On the other hand we beat all the top teams this season some more than others, got to 2 finals and this with all the above mentioned. A team needs time to gel ther was never that consistency throughout then season mainly due to injuries, suspensions, form e.t.c and that i think tells me that its not the manager thats the problem but our sqaud is not strong enough. I dont think king kenny will get the sack and that a few summer additions and the same attitude from the players in our last home game and most importantly support from us i can see us finishing much closer to the top. (maybe even win the league depending on THE cheaquebook lol...).

IBIMO

Finally a post with some logic. thank you

Torres left us 18months ago almost...what does that have to do with this season?

4, gerrards injury

The biggest loss of all

15 May 2012 21:38:41
So... Eds u say u believe he will leave or be sacked and macca thinks he will stay so we have a difference in opinion we dont see that much... My opinion dalglish be in charge next season. My wants - dalglish replaced.

15 May 2012 21:37:26
Personally id like to see for transfers happen that would
increase our squads depth in quality
1)Luuk de jong - Young Goal scorer
2)Ibrahim Afellay - Dutch Connection
3)Gaston Ramirez - So much creativity
4)Keisuke Honda - Utility Man excellent set piece specialist
Bearing in mind we have been linked to all 4 players on lfc.tv and they would cost a total of 45 - 50 million max.
Whats you opinion Eds and Macca?
{Ed001's Note - if we got Honda, I would need to change my underwear, I love him as a player, he has a fantastic attitude and is an excellent player. Not convinced Afellay would be available at all though.}

Is Honda available Ed001?

RedSG {Ed001's Note - yes, but he is not looking for a move to the English league. Never know though, I might finally get one wish come true!}

Swap affely for Munian who is going to be a star

15 May 2012 22:04:34
Been wondering about this prospect for a while, makes perfect sense with kenny taking up the vacant DOF role! I know it's pie in the sky but we can all dream. That fact that it's been thrown up into the ether by Macca does make me ponder. FSG have played a cautious game so far, this would certainly show that they are in the game to win. We can't compete with the likes of city financially however there are other ways of drawing in top talent!

As I said its nice to dream!

Thanks again Macca

Boxer

15 May 2012 22:01:29
Thanks to Macca for the latest updates, I for one am really hoping the king can stay on for another year, as Macca said up until and including the Arsenal game we have played great football, with the summer signings who ever they may be i am sure we will be a force next year.
Long live the King

I thought I'd chuck in a few names for thought as summer buys, as some alternatives that seem fairly constant on here:-

Siem De Jong, (more adaptable than brother Luuk)
Jordy Clasie, (big up and coming midfielder had a cracking season for Feyenord)
Russel Martin, (dependable, hard working Steve Finnan-esque)
Aaron Lennon, (needs a change to kickstart his career)
Matt Jarvis, (has been mentioned recently, but can't think of a better crosser that can "hang" a ball up for AC)
The Blackburn CB Hanley(possibly buy and then loan back)
The Blackburn reserve keeper who had a cracking game against us at home
The young talented lad from Crewe
Dembele from Fulham, (not sure if he's been mentioned much recently)
Dyer from Swansea
Pilkington from Norwich - both young, telented pacey players

I'm not saying we should buy all of these, just some for consideration

Pablo {Ed001's Note - which one from Crewe? Nick Powell? Ashley Westwood? Ben Garrett? Ryan Colclough? Max Clayton? I am guessing you must mean Powell, he is certainly the stand out.}

Nice to see you back Ed001 mate, hope you get well soon.

Just wondering who do you think is in the driving seat for Nick Powell? Thanks.

Jatt YNWA {Ed001's Note - we certainly were. But they were asking too much, not certain how much though. I would expect him to stay if they win promotion anyway, for another year at least. The play off money will mean they don't need to sell anyone.}

15 May 2012 21:54:11
I have been guilty of criticising Kenny and calling for him to step aside... Not because of the results but because of his 'bury head in the sand' interviews.

I think this side technically are an improvement over the previous side. By that I mean all the outs to all the ins and promotions, taking into account the finances and wages.

We are stronger as a club.

I also think that there is very fine line between success and failure. IF we had a Robbin fowler this season then we would have got 70+ points... All those chances, all those nearly's, all those woodworks etc.

But what has upset me more than anything else this season it's Kenny constantly saying "we were unlucky", "should have won the game", "didn't deserve to lose".

This is lame! I want to know WHY we are hitting the post all the time. Creating but not converting and what the hell have the done to remedy it?

If we keep hitting th exist it means we are not sharp enough or good enough to score. So was there extra training at PENALTIES (don't start me on that one!), FREE KICKS (another poor retun on direct and in-direct) and even the corners were poor this season.

This is down to the players not being at a standard that we expect as fans. Swansea can do it, Norwich etc.... It's not expecting Barcelona style football. THIS IS BASICS!

Charlie Adam was quoted by FERGIE as worth £10m for his set plays... I would give him 10p this season. I know it was Blackpool but a free kick is a free kick... Whether your playing Barcelona or Bournemouth.... Why has he gone piss-poor? Is it a case of champagne Charlie for Blackpool and now he's earning some good money then he feels he has nothing to prove?

Drop him if he doesn't perform... Simples.

You cannot reward failure..

Which brings me onto Henderson.

The first few games when he was bought I noticed straight away that he tended to run away from the ball and then point to someone to move into the position where he'd was supposed to be... The guy was OUT OF HIS DEPTH. And out of the 38 games I would say he was "up to standard" in no more than 4.'however I do see something in him. I think he will come good. But Dalglish should have bedded this guy in... When he was woeful not only did he play but KD would leave him on when subbing and take off Bellamy or Kuyt or Maxi who were ALL threats... Beyond me!

Andy Carroll.
I had a bet with someone in work at the start of the season, that Bellamy would score more than Carroll in all competitions. It finished 9-9.

So why is a £35million no9 scoring the same as a free transfer the wrong side of 30?
I will admit.... I have called him donkey till about 6 weeks ago. The leaner, fitter Andy Carroll is now showing promise... Don't get me wrong we could go and buy a £35m striker now and I guarantee he will score more goals than Andy Carroll.
His style of play does not fit with the way Liverpool now play. This is not his fault it's management. Probably Comolli to be fair but justice was done ;-)
We now have Andy Carroll trying to fit in the Liverpool way and it's starting to show some promise.
But you don't spend £35m on a punt. You spend on a proven striker at the top level. Don't forget Carroll excelled in the Championship. We are stuck with him and he wil score goals, but to get to the next level we need 20+ goals out of him and another striker. Let's say Suarez with 15+ and another creative midfielder with 8-10.
That's my hope.

What I don't want is Kenny to come back from the States and being told, you had your money and you failed us. We will give another season but you are stuck with what you have got.
If this is the case then he MUST go. He cannot get the best out of these players, he has proved that, maybe another manager can?
If he will be given funds then he needs to take the sentiment out of his decisions and maybe buy a top midfielder and have the balls to drop Gerrard/Henderson and Adam. (spearing ain't good enough IMHO)

Let these guys EARN their place.

If it was me then I would bring RAFA back. I think tactically he is better. He picks a side for the game being played and he did not waste that much money... Fergie bought BEBE, Chelski with Lakuka, Arsenal with Young... Kenny with Carroll/downing/Henderson...they have all overpayed and wasted money so stop bashing RAFA on his buys.
Let's not forget RAFA built Alonso/Sissoko/Mascherano/Pepe/Torres/Agger/Skyrtel/Lukas... More of a legacy than what anyone else has done IMHO...

So to finish this LONG post I just want to say... I hope Kenny does stay and is given financial support. But he must look at himself and recognise his faults. He needs to stop being protective of the club and admit when we were s**te. He must improve his interviews as they are cringe worthy at times. And have a PLAN B ffs... His tactics are nothing compared to RAFA.

If he goes then its only RAFA for me.

Either way I will support the manager but on the other hand I will be critical. It is my right as a paying supporter.

Top 6 minimum next season. A Carling cup win In EXTRA time against a championship side just polishes a TURD of a season.

15 May 2012 20:59:59
hi edds not gona ask about kk sick of hearing it now time will only tell anyway just somthink to ask you an you what did you realy think of rafa me an my brother was talking an he said when we were losing games with rafa an behind he said most games we walked away with a point or we came from behind to win an the fans would say a point is better then none but with kk ive been to loads of games an ive heard loads of fans saying rafa would of aleast walked away with a point he was not a bad manger like what do you think edds {Ed001's Note - he was a good manager, when he had Pako alongside him, but he has no clue about how to manage a club on a budget. He plays petty politics, wants ridiculous amounts of money to spend, pays out huge wages for mediocre players and put the club into the mess it was in. He was as much to blame as Hicks and Gillett for the financial destruction of the club. Their fault was not having the money to invest, but he was the one spending beyond the club's means and demanding more and more through the media.}

Ed001 clearly you have a personal gripe with benitez as you are always complaining about him.

He had absolutely nothing to do with the mess we got in. He was the one who sussed out what hicks and gillet were trying to do and waged a war against them.

Torres went for 50mill, Mashcerano went for 30mill, Alonso went for 30mill...just these 3 players alone probably makes up for the money benitez spent.

Benitez didnt spead more than 20 million net per season so how is he responsible for the financial mess?

What are you on about? Add to that all the extra champions league revenue over the years and there's no way we were worse off due to Benitez.

Hicks and Gillet signed off on a 30million pound a year interest fee...this was the reason for the mess.

You have a personal problem with Benitez and thats your business but dont slander our most successful manager in 20 years but yet you are on here lickin Dalglishs bottom everyday.

Dalglish is creating the mess. He has overpaid for players who we will never recoup money for, we are not getting champions league money and dalglishs confrontational interviews is harming us from a PR perspective so if anyones leaving us in a mess its Dalglish.

Some of you fans are so biased it defies belief. {Ed001's Note - you are clearly out of your depth trying to understand finances. Simply put you are wrong. Why don't you go away and study the figures, then you might realise that in fact I am right and you are the one with the bias. H&G were increasing income, but not quickly enough to cope with the demands Rafa was making of them. Because of all you Rafa-bators, who think he could do no wrong, he was able to turn it all on them, even though there failing was simply not being able to fund his ludicrous demands for more and more money. One day you will understand how much it takes to pay off a player that leaves, they don't just cancel their remaining contract when you sell them and the money you take is pure profit. A percentage of their remaining contract has to be paid to them, meaning it can cost millions per player just to get rid of them. Add that to the nonsensical wages we were paying the players he brought in, average players like Ngog, who was earning more than Suarez does now, and that is many more millions wasted. Which you are taking no account of, because it doesn't fit your biased view. Until you can understand football finances, perhaps it would be best you don't try and argue about them, because you are talking utter nonsense right now. As for licking Dalglish's bottom, what are you 12? Grow up.}

Haha wow whoever wrote that wasted alot of time. get em ed

Because they aren't playing in the euros there will be no restrictions if we want to buy Belhanda and Ramirez right Eds?
Or will anyone of them play in the olympics? {Ed001's Note - I don't pick their respective countries' Olympic squads, so I have no idea sorry.}

weather kenny stays or goes its important that whoever is our manager realises that downing is not good enough for our club , his work rate is poor , his tracking back is poor , ive noticed him run back with a player who is attacking us and then downing just stops and lets the player keep running at us , kenny thinks downing is an attacking midfielder with liecence to roam , if kenny kept him on the left in the left wing position maybe we would have had more goals from andy carrol , because when we got downing the report from anfield was downing had the best cross completion rate for the last 3 seasons , but this season he had the most shots than any other player in the prem and scored none , if kenny stays then it will be more of the same , and we will pay over the odds for british mediocre players , and our luck will be bad again ,,,,,,,,,,,,mickey b

Evening eds and fellow reds ,could it be possible that kenny and Steve went to Boston to meet new members of the Lfc back room staff,may j Henry has worked out the English media and decided to deal with the issue over there.any thoughts cheers psv {Ed001's Note - it was to plan for next season as far as I am aware.}

hi eds and macc.
i hope kk stays. ive been seen posts sayin we going 4 berbatov, plz say this aint true? i wud only go 4 players frm england. sum that have jst been relegated or surplus 2 requirements. plz tell me wot u fink r the chances of signing the likes of RHODES, JARVIS, FLETCHER, DIAME, KALOU, HOILETT, HANLEY,NZONZI, ADAM JOHNSON, TAARABT? Any of these players wud all fit in and add 2 wot we got now. i dont want 2 lose kuyt tho! look 4ward 2 wot u fink! cheers
james, herts, wgc. {Ed001's Note - all of those players are average at best!}

I agree they are all average Ed, with the exception of Adam Johnson in my opinion

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - I didn't actually spot him, would have to agree, his ability is exceptional, but his attitude is terrible. Shame, he is a nice lad, or was as a kid at Boro anyway, but he needs to remember he is a professional athlete and look after himself accordingly. Oh and to put some effort in when he trains as well! Natural ability can only get you so far, which is why he was watching on Sunday.}

I actually want diame. As back up for Lucas.

Eds, How much will not being in the champions league impact our transfers? City signed some world class players before they got into the CL.

And to the guy asking about Danny Murphy below. I've got a mate in Barbados who has worked at the liverpool acadamy, and is on the staff at the place murphy got married. Apparently he promised loads of liverpool gear to help him coach in barbados, but then got shipped out to charlton. Strikes me it wasn't his choice to leave. {Ed001's Note - difference is that City pay over the odds wages, we pay similar types of wages to Newcastle now. We limit what we pay, as it should be, we simply can't afford to pay that kind of money out, it nearly destroyed the club once. We can still attract players, but just not ones who want huge wages. As for Murphy, he defo didn't want to leave, he loves Liverpool.}

I think we might have reached a simple situation, where the owners will either back Dalglish big, or sack him. I think, reading reports, and BBC radio, he has quite simply said back me or sack me. I think we will know one way or the other soon.
Patience is key in these situations, as the club will take as long as needed to get it correct.
I personally think he may be sacked, if he actually has said ''back me or sack me'', as he hasnt delieved greatly, and has spent a lot of money. If he did say that, he's got a little bit of a cheek asking for more money.

However, do you think he actually said this, as he loves the club so much, he surely wont care about just trying to protect his job. As i said, I have no sources or info, but I still think he may go, and I believe we shall know in a max of 48 hours.

I honestly believe that if Kenny stays on as manager, we will be in EXACTLY the same position at the end of next season, outside of the top 4 and at average at best.

We could give Kenny unlimited funds and we wouldnt push for the title. That much I know. We could have Man Citys squad and not win the title with Daglish, sorry, it's harsh but it's reality.

Sentiment is great but at this moment, it's a hinderance. Football has changed, Daglish hasn't.

We need a new manager.

Superfan.

Why do you say this, it's took Man City three years to win the title with unlimited funds, yet you dismiss Kenny 1 year into a three year contract, a man that has won the title with another club. If fans like you had your way we would turn into Newcastle, sacking manager after manager. No matter how good a manager you are it is impossible to win the Premier league in one season with a team you are rebuilding. This is the sign of the times eh, and while we do this time after time we have no chance of winning the Prem.

Sooty

Unbelievable! he's won the premier league before, you obviously have no concept of the man's history as a manager.
he had what we as liverpool fans believe to be an indifferent season of up's and downs and nearly managed to achieve harry redknapp's TOTAL trophy cabinet during it!

superfan?

superignorant!

Dalglish has changed, he's changed the way he spells his name, according to you...You're obviously a die hard supporter...

With respect the worst opionion so far today. With man Citys team i could probably win the title! Even Harry redknapp said as much

Superfan?? Really?? slate your team then call yourself that?
Wouldn't win the league with City's squad??
Was you at the games were we destroyed them at Anfield twice? and when we destroyed United twice? and Chelsea? and Arsenal ? and Newcastle? sure we didn't get wins from all of them, but we are one year into a rebuilding process...it took City 3 years and a hell of a lot of money and they won it by the hair on there nuts...

Great site edd's, not so much a rumour just an opinion, i got a fellin that aqua man will be at liverpool next st eason and that him gerrard and lucas will be our midfield trio, i think if we offload a lot of players who to b honest are lost causes "bar maxi and kuyt who have served us brilliantly" if we spend our money on the right hand side of our team rb, rw we will be a whole site better than what we were last year i think we cud give fourth a good shot under kenny!

Christ almighty how many times does it have to be spelled out to people. Aquilani idoes not want to play for Liverpool. He will not return. Not now, not next week, not next month, not ever He doesn't even want to play in the UK for any team.. All that remains about Aquilani is how we get him off the wage bill without losing to much money

Aquilani posts should be banned eds lol, really why should he even be given a chance like, he's lazy, unfit, not actually that good (thats why no-one wants to buy him) and HE DOESNT WANT TO PLAY FOR LIVERPOOL!!

mikehoopersgloves

Aquaman hes knees made of glass. he is always injured and always went for the 5 star pass rather than giving it simple and was almost always unsuccessful. is ac milan, juventus or any club for that matter wont fork out the money for him then doesnt that say it all. shelvey is developing nicely as is hendo ( in cm) why stunt their growth with an overpaid flop ?

Is fourth the best we should hope for. doesn;t that just show how low we have sunk, hoping for fourth place. we should be challenging for the title. not settle for anything less.

I think King Kenny is the man, you cant build a successful team in one season, he is laying foundations like Bill Shankly did and look what he went on to achieve with Liverpool, and then foundations were set for Bob Paisley who is still the only manager ever to win 3 European cups. Success takes time and requires patience and support espically from the fans. Lets get behind King Kenny and the team. The King knows what he is doing. In Kenny we trust.

I can't agree more, this is a perfect post.

Ell.

Exactly! We're not chelsea !

If the "foundations" are the likes of Downing, Henderson and Adam, I am seriously worried. Someone else simply must be put in charge of transfers.

Yep all great title winning teams:
have great defenses check
players who have
been playing with
eachother for a while check
a good manager who
plays the right system check

a world beating cf check

a midfielder who
can change a game not yet

I agree our league performances ain't been good enough. especially when it came to scoring goals this season.and I can understand people wanting kenny out because they want instant success.but does that mean we will replace every manager after one season if they don't bring instant success? we all new it would take time to rebuild so I hope kenny gets more time to bring the glory days. If things don't improve then yea replace him.

Camo924

No it doesnt. If we failed and came close fair enough. But having spent 120m on players and ending on same points as fulham and havin gone back a step I think he should step down. Cos it was a miserable fail not a close shave. We lost exact same amount of games as we won for F**k sake

We want to see progress season on season, this season has not shown any progression even with a lot of monetary outlay.
liverpool this season have been beaten by teams that have never beaten us before. Our worldwide image, i think, is no at an all time low, partly due to the whole saurez episode and also due to kennys infuriating and sarcastic post match pre match interviews.
Yes we have played some very good football at times but we have also played some awful games as well.
Progress doesnt mean being better than any one else, progress is being better than we used to be.

We don't want instant success at all, what we do want is to see a half decent team being competitive in the league. It's not much to ask for is it?

Being better than we used to be ? Won a trophy, beaten in another final, playing on the whole much better football than what we have done for years. Yes, Kenny needs to improve some things on and off the pitch but he's the man to do it !

Do united fans cry about fergusons interviews your unbelievable. kenny is a good coach and last season wasnt a total disaster because of him. you expected instant success and if you were coach of liverpool then we would never see the emergence of youth players.

I really expect us to be top4 next year but just think
Manchester clubs are certain for the 2 spots and i think chelsea will take the 3rd spot. Now i really hope that Chelsea do win the C.League because this helps us in the fact that tottenham now can't attract the top talents and arsenal will falter they were a pretty much 2man team this year with song and Rvp.As with Rvp he was in the form of his life and be sure next year his scoring tally would not be more than 20 goals. As for these 3-Arsenal,Tottenham,Liverpool Would be fighting for the 4th spot
Liverpool have the best defence in these 3
Tottenham have the best midfield in the country on their day
Arsenal are the combined package
People say that Liverpool play better with Carroll in the team.I believe this seasons undoing has been the midfield and fair enough when 3 of your CM are missing through injury you have to live with it.What Carroll does so well is he takes the midfield out of the game because of the long balls so i think next season depends in wether we can sort out our midfield and if not then we should make sure Carroll plays so that he can help the game
Harsh
YNWA
P.S.-I think next season we will acheive 5th position and a europa cup and one of the two domestic cups
Dont doubt AC he has shown his skills in the last 3 matches just look at his overhead kick against swansea
I bet a mediocre player cannot achieve this

And Newcastle United?

I agree although i would also include newcastle as long as they stay injury free again this year

Top 3 will be the mancs plus gunners, especially if gunners add podolski, mvila and dempsey, and they don't have a bad start again...we'll be fighting with everyone else for 4th...Chelski are not guaranteed top 4 unless Roman goes on another spending spree...

FSG want Liverpool to buy young players with potential and we are apparently looking at Luk de young. now I know he has scored 30 goals but plays in a really poor league. But even so I would be happy to see him in a red shirt.
But why not take a gamble on another young player playing in a lesser league but has potential. Jordan Rhodes age 21 40 goals this season? would not be a bad 4th striker, wages low would be happy to show us what he has in cups and Europa, surely worth a punt?

Kev the Red

I agree. If we a squad of strikers of Luis Suarez, Andy Carroll, Luuk De Jong, Jordan Rhodes and Craig Bellamy to pick from I think that would supply more goals than this season. Rhodes is only 22 and could come good if given a chance. How about Luuk De Jong (12-14m), Jordan Rhodes (4m), Gaston Ramirez (16m), Ibrahim Afellay (7m) and Rasmus Elm (7m) as 5 signings? I think they would certainly make us stronger, all getable and wouldn't cost the earth, maybe even Mohamed Diame on a free transfer as a back up holding midfielder squad player.

Kenny Dalglish's 1st Premier League season with Blackburn Rovers finished 8th , 12 months later they finished 4th and then became Champions in only 3 Premier League seasons .

My faith is in Kenny Dalglish to do the job better than anyone else can .

JARGON1977

Plus, the last time Liverpool finished 8th ('94), they followed it up the next season with a 4th placed finish. Omens aplenty!

40 goals is some going in any pro lge , rhodes must be an option
5gold stars {Ed001's Note - Kezman scored more than that in the Eredivisie, which is a much stronger league than League One.}

Ian wright scored 40 goals non lge one season then up till henry was arsenals top scorer, i reckon he be good 4 10 in the epl unlike our lge strikers
5gold stars {Ed001's Note - Ian Wright had skill on the ball which stood out like a sore thumb, Rhodes has only goal scoring. If he isn't scoring, he is wasting a shirt, it makes it a much bigger risk. Whereas Wright could create for himself and others.}

I'd give Rhodes a punt at 3-4m, low wages, only 21, squad player and try him in the cups etc. Worth a try in my book. Sign De Jong or Soldado and Rhodes. Suarez, Soldado/De Jong, Carroll, Rhodes, Bellamy. Kuyt? I think Dirk might go. Plus other signings.

a creative player is what wwe need, one that plays in the hole n behind the strikers(diego would have been perfect he went 4 a 8m) plus a driving from deep midfielder(dembele been brilliant all season), potent striker to convert our chances n win those tight games, turn draws to wins, (soldado is quite sharp, liked negredo) , JORDAN RHODES HAS JUST SCORD HIS 40TH THIS SEASON
5GOLD STARS

If the likes of united, city, arsenal, spurs or chelsea come in for any of our targets we've got no hope

I have been struck by the lack of leadership from FSG since they have taken over the club. They have stalled on the stadium plans, our chairman Mr Werner is in the states, a british based chairman should have been appointed to ensure the day to day running of the club is smooth. Their silence over the Suarez affair was deafening, letting others take the fall for the debacle. Now this silence over Kenny is a disgrace. They either back him or not, what they are doing is causing instability to the club, this would not have happened under our former chairman Mr Smith.

What Liverpool needs now is stability, which it has not had for years. We don't want to know who the owners are ie coming off the team coach on matchdays etc. I hope Kenny gets another season as a change of manager will just put us back again. I thought the team played a lot better style of football this year than for about 4 years. Kenny is on the right tracks, but he has to start playing the lads in their positions,(henderson in central midfield as a box to box player).Senior players have to step up and show a bit of leadership. And finally FSG if you want Champions League football we have to find a 20 goal reliable striker so they will have invest heavily. So FSG put up well I was goin to say shut up but the only time they open their mouth is on their pre-rehearsed lfctv shows or when they are sipping champagne!

One classic management style is to hire the best people can afford, and let them get on with it. Then, at the appropriate time, review results. I believe that is what FSG do.

With respect to the silence, I suspect they have a plan, and will make decisions and announcements when it suits them. To do otherwise is not leadership - it is knee-jerking.

15 May 2012 20:03:12
Well another season over, what can we take from this, or what can we LEARN,
Over the season I believe we have missed an out and out goal scorer, we have not scored enough goals, 20-25 more goals would of probably seen us nocking on 4th place if not better, we have produced some excellent football and numerous goal scoring chances, chances that a goal poacher could of put away. Overall we have improved in a fashion, but need to improve in front of goal.
We have missed Lucas and to an extent Adam, Gerrard has been playing more of a defensive mid, so the midfield has not been as attack minded as I'd like.
So what I think we need is a good striker, someone who will take the chances, also a good attacking mid, who will also take their chances but will also create them, Carroll is going to come good , he will score and create if he is played regular.
This made me think, overall we have an excellent team, just not scoring , so if we had a good goal poacher along side Carroll with Suarez in midfield with a passport to roam, then I believe the goals would begin to flow,
Yes we do need strengthening in other positions but I honestly believe the goals have been our downfall, goals that would of turned draws into wins and would of killed off games we lost , our overall play has been outstanding, we have outplayed 90% of teams put in front of us, we need someone to turn these chances we create into goals .
Ok had my say for now, Kenny should be given another season , we are Liverpool .

Thanks for listening
kevc

In response to macca. You would be insane to get rid of kenny without having someone who is world class to replace him. He is called the king for a reason and to bring someone in who is not a world class manager would be very silly

He's called King Kenny because it's an emotive nickname, also because people like to dream and cling onto the hope that he can repeat what he achieved in the eighties. We would all like that but I'm afraid we have to get real.

Macca, I would be more than happy for Kenny to continue for at least another year. I wouldn't be happy to appoint Guariola now, next year or ever. He is far too overrated. He lets his team play ion the same style every game with little or no flexibility. As proven during both games with Chelski, where they tried to walk the ball into the net for 3 hours, without success. He is tactically inept. This club does not need a fourth manager in the space of 2 years. We need stability.
Cheers, Dale

This has got to be one of the worst post's I've ever read. 13 trophies in 4 years, including two champions leagues against Man Utd, whilst bringing through local youth players, playing the best football you've probably ever seen.

So they lose a semi final against Chelsea, where for some reason they miss a load of chances including a penalty and go out. And suddenly he's tactically inept.

No disrespect to kenny but Liverpool seem to have only one style of play, but they lose every other week. Does that make kenny tactically inept too?

Dalston Red

The fact that u call guardiola inept makes u a big idiot. u noe nothing about football. How about 13 titles in 4 years? N he made messi the player that he is today.

We should get the most inept manager we can find in that case. That should be the new plan.

Oh don't get me wrong, Rafa's great and we did win the champions league under him which i'll always remember, but god we were boring to watch under him. In my opinion anyway, we had one good season under him but that was it. And what gets me is when they say we always qualified for the champions league under him, but fail to acknowledge that there was only a 'big four' back then. Now there are 6 or 7 teams pushing for the top 4. Theres a big difference in the league now than there was then.

With all this speculation concerning Kenny. If he is staying, then why don't FSG come out and say the speculation and rumours are BS?

We know that we don't comment on rumours but surely something should've been said early by the club. To stop this rumour from spreading and causing a bit of a stir amongst us fans.

Sometimes the silence could be deafening. And do more harm than good. Just look at the forums, sites etc that are running with this rumour. I just hope our owners have let Kenny deal with this, the way he wants.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Probably because they sacked the press secretary haha
I do agree with you someone should come out and say something, the edds need a rest it's mental on here.

MIKEY

Why should they say he's staying? How many other Prem clubs have released statements saying their manager is staying? They only need to release a statement if he's going other than that nothing needs to be said. The manager at this moment in time was, is and remains Mr K Dalglish esq. RED LENIN

Because Blair, commenting on pure speculation gives them credence.

Why not just act like nothing's changed if his job is safe?

There's no point in commenting when it isn't worth it.

I suspect the owners will make a statement when there is a need to do so. FSG are not a bunch of amateurs.

I'm just really fustrated and angry that Kenny's name is being thrown around like it is today, unnamed poster. Kenny deserves better. He is the best person ever to walk the corridors of Anfield, in my opinion mate. I just hope that we don't hear in the next few days that Kenny has been sacked and the rumours were true.

Like I said mate , Kenny deserves better.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

The worst thing they could do is come out with a decision without the reuired condsideration.
It may take a bit more time than we think is necessary, but I would like the decision to be considered - and given that they (whomever they may be) will be responsible for any decision, they need to be confident of the decision they make.
And its almost as exciting as speculating over "Mark-E" signings - it should get us through til the opening of the international window.

15 May 2012 19:38:20
First, not everyone who contributes to forums & sites are necessarily "fans" in the first place. Anyone of us can go on a Manchester forum & call for Ferguson to be sacked. Secondly, the "Benitez Cult" have been causing division in the club for years & they look like they will continue to do so. They are deluding themselves if the think FSG or any other serious club owner is going to employ him again. He was not sacked for finishing 6th he was sacked for his continuous politicking & constant demands to control every aspect of the club, & when he was successful, he kept having his agent linking him with moves to "bigger clubs", so, dream on guys cause it ain't going to happen. If FSG do remove Kenny it will be extremely costly for them. Someone like AVB will be installed, they'll be in the bottom half of the table come Xmas, the fans will turn on the owners, & they'll be left with a worthless "investment". This younger fantasy football generation seem to show very little loyalty to anyone, & hence their opinions should carry very little weight. It peeves me they way they have the cheek to sign off with YNWA at the end of their little tirades. Hang your heads in shame you little gits.

Haha, spot on you old git!
Evers....

Hi i'm part of the younger genertion and think kenny has done well, we've played some good football and have a young team who can challenge for years to come. i also dislike benitez' tactics and the fact that of his singings only a fraction were successes.

I think Kenny will stay on. The owners are smart and won't want to upset fans and I think most of us want Kenny to stay another season and see if this season was just bad luck. In saying this, here's my take on new signings. Don't think we're going to be getting loads of funds, but we'll have a healthy amount.
INS
I would say we were after a winger, a centre mid and a striker. Diame could do a job on a free and we're in a good position to sign him, but I did say the same about Poulsen. I would take a go at Adam Johnson as well. Not happy with the playing time at City and would move to an ambitious club, but if someone with Champions League football were to come in he would surely choose them. I've also heard we have paid part of the transfer fee for Jackson Martinez who will arrive to put pressure on Carroll and Suarez.
Mohamed Diame - Free Transfer
Adam Johnson - £12million
Jackson Martinez - £6million

I believe Kenny when he says there won't be many leaving, but I don't believe it will only be Aurelio going. It's clear that Maxi wants first team football and so does Kuyt so I expect both to leave. Bellamy and Spearing still have something to offer in terms of backup.
Fabio Aurelio - Free Transfer
Dirk Kuyt - £1million
Maxi Rodriguez - £3million
Alexander Doni - Free Transfer

Would people still get rid of Kenny even without a decent enough replacement.

Hypothetically if someone said keep Kenny for one season and then replace him with Guardiola would they be happy?

Cheers

In response to this Macca, 1 season is not enough for any mananger, how much money and time would Guardiola need to bring Liverpool back to the top, how would one possibly be happy if the board keep changing manager's, this alone brings its own unstability with different managers having different ideas (players, tactics, youth etc). Lets be honest if Liverpool had a 20 or 30 a year goal scorer last year we wouldnt be having this discussion. I think its sad for the game that once reknowned for the best supporters in the world some of our fans are completely clueless and just want success at whatever cost, where has the supporters gone that backed the Whole of Lfc to the core win LOSE or draw. Anfield as it is now is the new prawn sandwich brigade no atmosphere at all... Thanks for your posts Macca, your the only page i go to

Becky

I agree with Beckie. Sone of te football at times has been the best we have seen for years. We were still in for 4th place until Lucas got injured, and the Suarez ban didn't help.
A 20 goal a season striker would of made all the difference, I'm hoping andy carrol becomes that for next year.
I also agree with Macca that the owners need to spend to get us out of this mess, not so much spend big but spend wisely.
We need a striker, right winger and defencive mid cover (I would still keep spearing as further cover still) as minimum.

Nice one becky, top post.

The 'best supporters' tag has well gone. People have less patience. I'm ashamed at the game sometimes when people snigger and chuckle when someone attempts to start a song. Sad times in my opinion.

Hi guys,

My opinion is that Kenny will be given another year. If he was sacked then there would most probably been an announcment already, FSG dont mess about.

If he has been sacked, which I hope not, then we have to get fully behind whoever is in charge next season, instead of all the snide comments & bickering after we lose or draw.

The league position this year is not ideal by any stretch of the imagination, however we have at times played so amazing football, which we hadnt done since the 08/09 season when we finished second.

We should just wait & see what happens. I would like to thank Macca for his updates, he does give us all excellent info, when he gets it.

Cheers

Months ago I asked whether people thought Reina was performing up to his previous high standards, and I got slated for even asking the question.

I don't want to slag any player down as such, and I think Pepe deserves great credit for showing loyalty in staying, when he could have left during the turmoil of summer 2010.

But I do wonder whether LFC need another top class keeper to put him under more pressure, and get him back to the top of his game.
I just don't think you would see the likes of Joe Hart or Petr Cech making some of those mistakes Reina has made this season. If we were banging in more goals it wouldn't matter so much, but a single 'soft' goal has cost us the game a few times this season, and who can say how many points have been lost that way?

He is a world class keeper for sure, but his current form doesn't seem to match that.
He's been beaten by relatively soft shots, or shots inside his near post, or has come out for crosses and missed the ball completely.

It's very difficult to be really definite about his performance, because its impossible to say for sure which of the shots he missed would have been saved by a Joe Hart or a Cech.

But my overall impression is that his poor form this season has contributed to the high number of lost games- more than is acceptable from a world class keeper- and I wondered what more knowledgeable fans like KB and Blair etc thought about his performances, and what options LFC might have to sort it out.

This is an excellent post. I have thought the same

Tough one, but for me if he can be sold at a profit (in terms of having to pay for a proper replacement) and the incoming GK would be on lesser wages, then it's hard not to see it perhaps happening.

I think much would depend on his attitude and mindset- does he want to be here or not?

A case of form is temporary , class is permanant in my opinion .

Dara D

A keeper should rarely be beaten on his near post, and Reina has let in quite a number this season like that.

I would agree that, for his standards, it's been sub par. It was only a few seasons back he got the golden gloves award, wasn't it? (correct me if I'm wrong please) He is international level and we're lucky to have such a loyal player.

I don't see a 'top level' keeper resigning to back up choice. Competition is usually healthy, but for me, not for keepers. I actually happen to think if we brought in a top keeper, Pepe would leave, as opposed to acting as a catalyst to improve his form.

On the note of keepers
Doni is good back up, but wouldnt be sad or surprised if he left.
I'd settle with Jones for back up.

However Sunderland are looking to get rid of Craig Gordon, that could be worth a shot (no pun intended).
If not Hennessey looks too good for championship and would provide good cover.

I think these keeper mistakes are highlighted by the fact we are not scoring enough at the other end. so a sloppy goal ends up costing us points rather than a bit of pride.
He's still a top keeper and it's very doubtful a better one is going to come to us. You could count on one hand the keepers better than pepe and they are all settled at big clubs.

MIKEY

Does Joe Hart have a Keeper coach? Does Petr Cech? Of course they do, specialist coaches keeping them fresh and alert. Who is/was Pepe's? At the start of the season Achterberg stepped up from Reserve keeper coach. Why? Because we haven't had one since Rafa left....FACT. Roy brought in Hodgkinson, who was a former keeper, but he was a specialist outfield coach and of course he left with Roy.

Kenny only brought in Clarke and Keen, the remaining staff have been from Rafa's era but there was no Keeper coach. Achterberg stepped up and i personally don't think he was up to it, hence Pepe's dip in form this season. Hopefully, Kenny will rectify this during the summer with some more specialist coaches.

JanMolbyFan

I agree i think we need to sign a top back up keeper to keep pepe on his toes. Is there a chance of Paul Robinson?

Mighty reds

You don't get top class keepers too come and play second fiddle in order to get the best of your first choice keeper.

Mo

The lad at Rangers is a decent keeper

In all honesty but why would the club fork out lots of money to spend on a world class keeper to put reina under pressure ?

Macca you say you'd only want Kenny to leave if there was a world class manager available, would u consider rafa as world class? I personally would back Kenny for another season with a couple of quality signings it could make a big difference next year, if anyone deserves more time it's Kenny, if we had a clinical finisher this season I have no doubt we would have reached top four,
I appreciate your comments

The freshmaker!

If you read Macca's last post he answer's your question! He would in his opinion have Rafa back but does not believe this would happen because he wants to much power!

I believe keeping Kenny was a good move and get Pep in next year is what they plan to do!

It would be nice if Liverpool Football Club told us!!

Dalglish is not 'good enough' macca. Why does he deserve to keep his job? Take sentiment out of the equation, as with it people can be blinded, and think why? Any other manager would be sacked. Tactical knowledge? Mediocre at best. Signings? Worst record of any manager ever in this stint I imagine. And not just LFC's managers, either. Man management? Who has had their best seasons for us? Skrtel and Agger only i imagine. And who is known for getting the best out of defences? Steve Clarke. Who's to say that is not his doing? Kenny must go for the sake of everyone. Should save himself some pride.

15 May 2012 18:57:03
It is important to not forget what KD has done for this football club in his time and thus he should be treated with special consideration. To replace him with an average manager at this moment of time would not help the club.

All managers need a year or two to build a team and so to replace KD with anything but a world class manager would be to take a step backwards, and not forwards.

However if possible my vote would be for Andre Villas Boas to come to Anfield.

Thankyou Macca for all the time and knowledge you give up.

AVB certainly would be a step back. What has he done thats possibly impressed you?

Lewandowski has to be top striker target. Excellent finisher and wonderful movement. Has both intelligence and can score. Similar to Robbie Fowler. Go get him LFC

It's a toss up between that and taking Benitez now. Benitez will have learnt a lot about the premiership in his time with us and knows Europe like the back of his hand.

No. i think kenny has more passion for liverpool than a hundred other managers could and while it was a poor year i cant believe he has lost it. I remember him leaving liverpool and taking over blackburn and what he did there was incredible!

Exactly Macca but some on here are a little short on common sense.
Get rid of Kenny to replace him with who?
Give the man a fair chance that's what we should do

Yes - but probably not for any other scenario

Obviously, there would be light after the dark, Id do what most liverpool fans do and just look forward to next season

Guardiola will never be our manager, We cant attract top players anymore, Never mind top managers, It all went down hill when Dalglish came back after been out of the game 16 years, Then he dicides to waste over 100m on adam, carroll, henderson, downing and coates.

I personally would like kenny to remain for 1 more season. If the next season dosent go according to plan then the necessary action should be taken. But i am an optimist as i really think we will have a good season with 2 to 3 new signings and dalglish in charge.

amar

If no one better is available, then it doesn't make sense to me to replace/sack/or otherwise not keep Kenny as manager.

The tricky part is defining 'better'. For me, some of Kenny's tactics/substitutions/etc. have been a tad strange all season, like the 'Downing on/Carroll off' (or vice versa) decisions, continuing to play Spearing when I think it was pretty apparent he was a tad in over his head in many games, dropping players when they start performing, the whole Suarez debacle, not playing more of the youngsters at the end of the season when there wasn't much left to play for anyway, etc, etc. None of these individually make him a bad manager, but as an aggregate they are somewhat suspect.

I don't know who a 'better' manager would be, but someone with a big name (like Guardiola obviously has) would undoubtedly help with player recruitment, so I suppose that's a bonus. In general, though, I do think that perhaps it's time (or maybe will be after next year) for the club to step a bit out of Kenny/Stevie/and Jamie's shadows. Right now I do feel that perhaps our history is defining us more than our future, but if we're not ready for that yet I'll support Kenny and the team regardless.

RDL

Anyone else thinking this hypothetical guardiola link mentioned by macca was typed with a wink wink nod nod, come on macca you can tell us lol

Alrite Macca,

It would definitely have to be someone world class for me to support Kenny goin, I'm definitely against Martinez getting the job cos I think that's another Hodgson waiting to happen. So if it means waiting a year to get someone the calibre of Guardiola etc. then I'd be more than happy for Kenny to have another crack next year and see how he does. Obviously if he then gets us in the top 4 it's a different situation altogether tho!

For the record, I would defo be up for Rafa coming back tho if the owners wanted him, I think with the backing to pursue his top targets, he would purchase more wisely than KK.

JD

So Hypothetically, Macca mate. Just say that is the plan,.then who picks/buys our targets for the upcoming season? There would be no point whatsoever mate in Kenny buying players this summer, if he ain't going to be there next year.

The perfect scenario for me would be. For Kenny to stay and Tixi Bergistain becoming our DOF. Thengive Tixi the complete control over transfers and scouting. Then Pep arrives next year with everything in place.

I know it probably ain't gona happen, i'm just talking Hypothetically mate.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

I hope kenny proves al those keyboard warriors wrong macca mate.thanks for the info.
mrbrown

For me Kenny is still the best man for the job. The alternative is someone like Martinez or Lambert who will want to sell half our players and sign their own costing the club millions. We cannot keep doing this every season, we've not got City's riches. We need stability and the new signings another season - there were signs some of them were coming good.

If we're having this debate at the end of next season then I am not sure about someone like Guardiola. His record at Barcelona is fantastic but to be fair, most managers could manage that team and be successfull. How would he cope managing Downing instead of Messi?

JRG

Hi Macca,

At the moment, everything seems to up in the air, no one appears to know anything.

Would I be happy for Kenny to stay and Guardiola take over in a years time? Well you have to ask the following hypothetical question, Are LFC still performing p!ss poor and missing out champions league football, and players not performing as they should and without passion?

In that case no,I want what's best for LFC, If that means a change of manager so be it, in order to bring in proper results.

Scenario b) Hypothethically, in a years time, Liverpool finish, in the top 4, players are performing as they should and showing why we signed them. In this scenario, thanks but no thank Pep, if its not broken, dont fix, FSG remit of reaching CL has been achieved, then build on that to win PL. Rome not built in a day.

Right now its a case of back him or sack him, personally id back him, there's alot of those players need an unmerciful kick in the arse and need to look at themselves, Kenny needs to get tough and quick, no exceptions.

Whatever your view is Macca, i'll think you'll agree when I say we can ill afford to have a repeat of the season just gone.Because if there was, do you think, Mr Guardiola would really want to take on the task of rebuilding a virtually mid table side, the table doesnt lie, I'd say he'd say thank but no ta

Rebel_Red

Do you think that FSG already have this in mind Macca?

Could they be looking at this situation and thinking this is what we should do!

KK in charge for a further season with Pep as the long term replacement! They have without using their previous sports investments as an example, been willing to pay big money for the right manager!!

Jon LFC

Macca I would happily keep kenny if there wasn't a good enough replacement it could be very disruptive otherwise, transfers could change and so on, there is no point sacking him for a second rate manager. On the other hand kenny does look very tired and maybe it's better he steps aside.

Square tomato

I would personally prefer to stay with Kenny as im not that much of a fan of Guardiola, yes he done a good job a Barca but most people could with the likes of Xavi Inesta and Messi in their team, if it were me pulling the strings and Kenny did end up leaving after a year i would go for Marcelo Bielsa or Michael Laudrup but i would prefer we stay with the mighty King Kenny

There has to be some stability at the club, and changing managers every 12-18 months is not the way to bring that stability.

This forum is a bit like a swimming pool. All the noise is coming from the SHALLOW end.

I believe Kenny has got us on the right track and we will be much improved next season.

IF Kenny thought a better man for the job was available then I'm sure he'd always do what is best for the club.

If Hodgson had stayed we may well have been relegated, that's how bad the football was.

We are now playing good football (most of the time) and have integrated a lot of young, mostly English players into the squad which stands us in good stead for the homegrown rules.

Now we need to add a couple of quality additions and bring more kids through the ranks.

It may be 2 steps forward and 1 step back for a while but if we keep the continuity, keep the faith, get some of the luck we've deserved and support our team wholeheartedly then we'll be right back in the mix soon enough.

No need to mention names but there are some sensible and patient fans on here and I know which end of the swimming pool you're in!

Jono

At the expense of which team? He will be closer but not sure current squad is anything other than mediocre

No chance of top 4 next year, 3 years at best. If Liverpool want to plan for the long term in regards to success then Kenny must be replaced. There is NO room for sentiment in football it's a results driven business and results haven't been good enough. What Kenny done for LFC is in the past and should never be forgotten but you need to get your head into the present. City, Utd and Arsenal will have top 3 places next year leaving Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool to battle it out for the last slot. I would say Tottenham and Chelsea have better squads than Liverpool just now.

no wonder the papers make rubbish up, you people lap it up and ask for more. A lot have criticized Kenny for his press conferences in the past, can you blame him for being slightly hostile towards the media if this is the way they treat him, the mirror in particular are having a field day. What really annoys me is the tell lie after lie and when they eventually get one right they are considered a good source.
Weather Dalglish stays or goes he will always be King Kenny.

always a red

There was a lot of good will towards LIverpool once H&G were ousted. KK brought this negativity and antagonistic attitude towards them. He failed in his judgement over the Suarez incident to create a siege mentality, disengaged the fans by refusing to communicate and respond to mostly reasonable questions. He is and will always be a legend and has given us our pride back. IMO he would not encourage potential targets to come even if the club has the budget.

To all the fans linking us with amazing players, some of the hottest transfer targets in Europe get real. Players like Lewandowski, Hazard, Munian, Falcao, Lucas Moura, Kagawa, Honda (who has struggles with injuries since moving to CSKA) etc. This lads, if they move in the summer, will move to CL teams.

Spot on m8 all the top players will want to play champions league football and I think Liverpool are 3 years and 7/8 players away from that.

Why's everybody having a go at Adam? He hasn't had a chance to prove his worth plus he was half the price of what downing cost us! He will be good next season you will see! He will wear the shirt! Come on Charlie!

I hope so really thought he would great . thing is with adem he needs to sit in front of a cdm like lucas cos his work rate not that good he needs up it a bit next season hopefully he does

And half as good. Or twice as bad depending on how you look at things.

Charlie adam has been the biggest disappointment to me, he's so slow his passing and general distribution has been awful this season and you can't say he hasn't had a chance, he just hasn't got it ok in the championship but can't step up, on another note I love the bones of kenny but just got a feeling that if we continue with him and he stays another season, we're gonna be in the same place we are now but a year further on, I would love to be proved wrong and I hope we rip it up next year but for that to happen

15 May 2012 18:23:46
All we need this summer is a defensive mid, or someone to play alondside Lucas. Moussa Sissoko is a box to box midfield but he can play as a holding midfielder if needed and has a better allround game than Hendersen, Adam (can't defend properly at all) , Shelvey and Spearing (who has shown he really isn't that good, pity since he's a local lad).

Hendersen, Shelvey and Adam are attack minded players as is the imminently returning Aquilani (with his 80,000 a week deal, CHEERS RAFA). When Lucas got injured that was the biggest blow to our season, he's grown into the most important player in our midfield over the last season and a half before doing his knee at Stamford Bridge.

Why play with 2 def-mids , thats why we come unstuck at anfield against the lesser teams , i know lets buy all defenders and park the bus in frontof our goals at anfield at least we will have a good defence , we might not have to score

Lads come on, there will be no announcement tonight we should know that the owners will ponder what to do. Thel have a think, but there is no need for an announcement as far as the owners are comcerned are there does not need to be an announcement unless hes sacked. He is liverpool manager he is under contract so as far as we and they are concerned thats how its goung to stay unless stated otherwise. Hes back in britain i doubt he doesnt know ehats happening. Believe me there woulda been an announcement if he had left if not theres no point in announcing anything. Were clear ad it is he is manager and in my opinion these were just twitter runours nothing solid. Id put my house on dalglish staying. Give me a bet il take it. They know there stuck because of legend status but either way league tells it own story "league doesent lie" eh dalglish

15 May 2012 18:13:32
If the owners intention is to keep Kenny Dalglish on as manager, why don't they just release a statement as soon as possible and put an end to the speculation. They can still then go ahead and have their end of season assessment..The delay in making the announcement is just fuelling media speculation which can't be good for Kenny, the club and it's supporters. The alternative is if they have another agenda and are trying to move him from this position hence the delay.
Question: Is there a likelihood that David Dein and Txiki Begiristain both join the club in some capacity..(Vice chairman/COO and DOF respectively)..Also any chance of Paco Ayesteran returning? Seems they may be bringing back some of the old crew

And why should they pander to the morons in the press?

I much prefer the way the club do things these days-they will announce what is going on when they are ready and won't be dictated to by lazy journos looking for a feeding frenzy.

Didn't we wash enough dirty linen in public with Rafa and H&G?

How would people feel if Roberto Martinez was to come in to work alongside King Kenny, as assistant manager, with a view to him being groomed for the role of manager in a year or two? That way the pressure would be significantly decreased, he would get to know the club, the players, the fans and would learn about the Liverpool way from the King.

Di Matteo has shown the benefits of moving from assistant manager; although arguably he had an underachieving squad which he has simply allowed to go back to what they know, he has still had a large part to play in winning an FA cup and potentially the CL. We used to do it this way, Barca have had success with it so why not bring back the bootroom mentality? Bring back the bootroom itself if you ask me! If the King then doesn't think Martinez is up to the job, it would be far easier than if he had been installed as manager and failed.

The main problem with this is that I doubt whether Martinez would take an assistant job, but surely the opportunity to work at such a massive club and the chance to manage us in the near future would be tempting. I think it would definitely be worth looking into, I for one would take an offer like this over one to manage a team like Aston Villa (I may be slightly biased though).

Just want to make comment as a fan of a different team.

From what I can see Liverpool have spent a lot of money on players they shouldn't have.

Carroll will come good if the style of ply suits him...but for 35mil you could have gotten Aguero quality. It was a strange panic buy as Suarez had just been bought and that would have done the season through really then spend wisely in the summer.

I just think overall the team have underachieved for the money spent but not massively.

The actual football has been good, the defence has been good....the only problem is goals.

If you get in a player who gets goals...a rooney, a van persie, a papiss cisse, benzema etc....you could be easily 3/4 places better off this year.

A striker is needed and then just one or two players elsewhere and you could easily be in champs league contention.

ToonFan

Respect Sir and agree.

Carroll was expensive and overpriced But his wages are reasonable and potentials there.

Arguro was expensive and wages are more than treble of Carrolls.
Liverpool could afford such wage demands and shouldn't either

Agree with most of
what you say toonfan, however we couldn't of got Aguero for the same price as over 5 years, Aguero would of cost closer to 100m, where as Caroll only half that amount.
TIZER RED
YNWA

Do you know anything about football, yes we could have bought aguero, but we couldnt pay his wages, carroll is on a fraction of what he earns

True...but it was just an example....for 35 million up front you could get a better player

ToonFan

I know plenty about football.....i listed several players not just aguero.

What about papiss cisse? a lot lower wages than carroll

And the aguero was a comparison of transfer fee not wages......why don't you think about your reply instead of offering nothing more than an insult.

ToonFan {Ed001's Note - but why bother talking about something that couldn't have happened? The only reason Carroll came in, was because we couldn't get anyone else for the money. Either the clubs rejected the money or, in the case of Ola Toivonen, the player was not interested in the move.}

It's nice to have a civil opinion from an outsider, so much respect for that!
BUT this is a failing we have already illustrated in great depth

They need strength in depth and even with 3/4 signings will they have a better squad than the current top 4 and Chelsea. I don't think so !

Toonfan, I know caroll was overpriced but so was Torres. I am more than willing to give him his contract length to prove his value and believe he will be a goal machine for us, especially after listening to what comolli said about him.

Me brothers just rang me and said Kennys gone upstairs...
Now when I was 4 I said ,mummy,I haven't seen nana since they removed her legs?where is she...
She's only gone upstairs ,she said..?

Now I'm not sure whether my nan died or just turned her back on us and took over as a director of football somewhere..
Strange for a woman with no legs and glaucoma?

Hi Eds and all,

If RVP of Arsenal is any example, we must buy Luuk De Jong now!
We had the chance to sign RVP before move to Arsenal and failed, learn your lessons and buy LDJ please.
Bazzaa

But he has only been exceptional in the last 2 seasons. We need someone like suarez, who can just come to a different country, and still make a big impact. Maybe De Jong is that person.

One great season in 8 years... i'm glad we got Torres instead.

RVP scored just 5 goals in each of his first 2 seasons at arsenal (at the same age as AC). He averaged 9 goals for each of his next 4 seasons. Do you really believe the supporters would have shown any more patience with RVP than they have with AC?

Got a mate who's ITK, swore blind he saw Martinez sifting through Sainsbury's Moet collection in L1 looking well chuffed.

You don't have to be ITK to bump into someone at a supermarket :P

Moet??...must still be on Wigan's budget

anyone else think are new kit looks really cheap and nasty? {Ed019's Note - I like the new kit, at least its not a teatowel}

I like it, I think its really smart and classy. Just hope that purple thing isn't our away or 3rd kit tho! LOL @ ed on the teatowel comment!

How is it nasty?

'OUR' new kit is retro, classy and I for one can't wait for the lads to grace Anfield in it.

Funny thing is half of these fickle fans wanted Rafa out now they want him back ( won't admit to the outing like ).
What ever happend to our so called loyal fans.

I mean people now want Martinez.. MARTINEZ! What has he actually won to warrant the Liverpool hot seat? This is a guy without a CV.

Benitez return- correct me if I'm wrong but did Benitez NOT win the league in his 6 Year in charge? Remember that's why we signed him. Guess he failed but yet he goodenough for a return.

How about a foriegn manager? Zich premiership experience and no time to build as our new trend of fans are completely inpatient.

Hard one this

Well said my man

I dont think even SAF could even take us to win the EPL.

He still got us to our highest finish in the Premier league...

Eds do you think that Alonso will ever return because he's spoke of how much he still likes the club and I believe at what ever age he returned, he'd defiently be a dominant force in the league. If you do when do you think he could return?
Thanks. {Ed019's Note - He could return - but not this year I think}

My sources claim Kenny has left Liverpool Football Club, announcement to be made soon. I don't know what Maccas talkin' about but let's wait and see if he is 'in the know' as much as he makes out he is.

Daniel Hanwell

I trust him more than you daniel hanwell(even if he does end up not being spot on). you are ridiculous

When is this announcement set to be made? We've been waiting on an announcement all day!

Macca,

I believe Mr Hanwell has challenged you for your crown.... A duel.

Should be an interesting evening.

Dirks Engine Room

Maccas not but you are Mmmmmm! all I can say someones full of cow cookies & am thinking its you

One thing i can say is that they had no intention of sacking him going into the meeting, what happens in the meeting is anyones guess..

Cheers

Macca

Well he's certainly proved to be more in the know than you cos I don't recall seeing your name against any information before

Brave post Daniel, whether you're wrong or right. If only Henderson and Downing had a pair like that we might have finished further up the table!

So if you are so confident that macca knows jack and you know all, tell us your sources.... dreamer
redtilimdead

Macca has provided us with a lot of info that has come true, and who are you again?

AG

The press on this is pretty clear. KK is back from Boston and FSG will make a decision within the next few days. These are considered people. When they make a decision they can be brutal, but they take their time getting the decision right. There will be no press release or announcement today.

Daniel Hanwell...I think your going to be wrong...

The meeting in Boston took place hours ago, possibly even yesterday..who knows...if KK resigned, then it would be made official almost immediately.

No news is almost always good news...

I'm backing Macca here.

BAck macca all you want, he's certainly credible but he's only a human with eyes and ears. My sources say fsG advisers have informed John Henry and co to replace him. His reputation is on the line and Kenny has embarrassed FSG last season.

Daniel Hanwell

I wouldn't believe this Daniel hanwell, looked him up on the search function and he said in January that we were signing granero, isla and mourinho, so don't bother with this bulls**t Daniel

hi eds, what you think of having a joint management team? whether it be kenny or another experienced manager alongside someone who could be up and coming the likes of carra for example who has previously stated he would love to manage liverpool and would be a perfect apprentice {Ed019's Note - If there was a joint management, if things went wrong they'd just blame each other}

extra lfc

Find a manger for a club where the current manager has one a trophy, come runner-up in another and only been in the chair for just over a season. Think you'll find that ity will take you a lot longer than 24 hours to recruit someone if they think unless they do better they will be fired as well.

Yeah I believe your reliable source is Alex f

15 May 2012 17:25:19
Right boys it seems were full of rumours, staunch backers and naysayers on here today so lets put a few things into perspective.......IF and its a big if upto now Kenny is leaving for whatever reason then why do we all feel the need to pull apart a man like Roberto Martinez before hes even stepped through the door?
Ok the argument is there for a top class man to get the job, and i would tend to agree but seriously how do people think managers like Martinez work their way up to top level?..........They work their way up progressively until the time is right to have a bash at a top club, It might work, It might not but that goes for Mourhino, Cappello and anyone else you care to name never mind Martinez, its always a gamble getting in a new man no matter who he is,
Roberto Martinez has as much right to have a go at a top club like ours as anyone just like probably Paul Lambert and Brendan Rodgers have that same right, we can all quote Owen Coyle and the one season wonder situation but do we really think its a walk in the park in this day and age of money talks, managing a club with nothing but 2 quid in its transfer budget because its not, the constant pressure must be unbelievable,
Martinez took Wigan to something like 9 wins out of their last 11 games thats a sight better than at anytime in our season by a long stretch,
Everyone is entitled to their own personal opinion and some will disagree with what ive said, im not openly campaigning for someone like Martinez but i AM expecting people like LFC fans who are supposedly the most intelligent football fans in the game to have more decorum and a bit of nouse when it comes to recognising its not like playing football manager online....You just cant pick and choose a Guardiola or a Mourhino its not that simple, imagine how much money Mourhino would require to top to bottom this squad, unless FSG have about 200 million spare then thats not happening, We either stick with our man with his heart and soul in the right place or we get someone in to completely revamp the lot, new faces new ideas new attitude lots of looking forward and never back because all this constant bickering and slating of people within the game is NOT what we were built on,
If we want our respect and our values back in place with our status as the best fans in the world still in tact i suggest we take a long hard look at ourselves and stop expecting Man City type miracles to happen overnight, Im nowhere near happy with last season as previous posts will clarify but whoever gets the reins be it Kenny or Martinez or whoever theyll get my backing immediately............
Come on as i keep stating, were LFC not Leeds utd, we dont want to be hated or slated we just want to be winners...........
YNWA JFT96 The Guv 81-9

Guv mate fact is roy hodgson is better then martinez and liverpool job is too big for maetinez

Please ladies and gents some applause for this man.after reading all the posts i was beginning to lose faith in the most amazing fans in the world, but alas some sense.last season was a mess.fact.we spent alot of money and only have a 'mickey mouse' trophey to show for it.fact.at times we looked like a league 1 team.fact.but why do we so easily forget that we also played alot of teams off the park.fact.also we didnt get alot of look hitting the woodwork more than any other.fact.silverwear is silverwear and two visits to the home of football is a start.fact.fenway know how to build success you only have to look at what they have already achieved in other areas.it will take time.i hope kenny is still manager but if not then lets support whoever takes his place.we are lfc lets not turn into bickering fans living on a distant past but build on the belief we all have.ynwa

What Liverpool need is an experienced modern manager who has had notable success in a European league comparable with the Premier League. What we don't need is someone who is still learning their trade or someone who has had moderate success on a limited budget with a team for whom surviving is considered to be success. While I admire Martinez and what he has achieved at Wigan he represents too much of a risk.

15 May 2012 17:14:32
well everywhere i look it's saying king kenny on his way then eds, well what will be will be ed king kenny was only ment too steady the ship,we must start getting one hell of a lot better 40 pts off top spot is just not cutting it. and if the ower's feel they can get the job done with a new face in the hot seat.then let's see who they go for and how well they will back the new gaffa if its true................, walk on walk on with hope, jay essex red for life red till dead

We should never let dalglish leave. This year he bought WORLDCLASS young players who have had a season to settle in. Next year we will challenge for the league and probably win it. CARROLL with 40 goals.

dalglish is the best and strongest manager in the league and will prove it . 21 titles by 2015!

Glad Kenny saying.
Far better than having a relegation battling manager who has a o% cv success.
Far better than a return of a manager who came to win the league and after 6years with heeps of money, never won it.
Glad fsg see sence on this one

Alright Ed/s, hope you're (all) well again today!

Just clear something up for me if that's alright? A friend of mine told me the other day that within the next 5 years the Prem are looking to make the rules so clubs cannot go into a loss of 38m (I think he said).

Do you know is this is true at all? If not, do you know of any intention of them looking to limit transfer spends somehow?

P.S. Glad to see KK is being given another season! (Which I believe he is!?)

Thanks for any response,
Ell. {Ed002's Note - These are the FFP rules from UEFA. It is much more complex than you have suggested.}

Regardless of Kenny stays or not, i think liverpool have handled the situation very badly. An official statement required very quickly

Why have the owners handled it badly if he is staying nothing needs to be said if he is going it will be done at the correct time the problem is too many people jumping to their own conclusions

What situation have they handled badly? Kenny Dalglish going to Boston, or not releasing any news or idle gossip for the leaching media to latch onto. Go away fool.

Handled what badly? Every club in the Prem will have a board/manager meeting in the next couple of weeks - there is absolutely nothing unusual about it and all this is being driven by media hysteria.

Been in Liverpool today shopping and on the train up heard couple of blokes moaning because they'd heard Dalglish was going to step down and Rafa was the man replacing him, obviously they aren't in the know or anything but I wouldn't particularly have a problem if Rafa returned, also eds if Rafa did return do you believe Aquilani could be given his chance

Would you want Aquilani to be given another chance? And if so why............?

You are a tool. I'm not surprised the Ed hasn't answered you, they must be sick to the back teeth of people asking about Aquilani.
It's not a question of him "getting a chance"
He doesn't want a chance! Why does everyone seem to struggle with this concept?

I'll reply to this one ED...

just wanted to give my insight on the kenny situaition. with rumours flying round that kenny has been sacked. or not. well like one of the eds said, if had been anyone else would they still be in this job. i respect kenny so much and know what he has given to this great club, however is he really the right choice to take us forward. this summer we had a great chance to reinforce our season yet weve blown it. however downing, carroll, and maybe henderson(who i belive was never good) dont become bad players in one season. we are not man city we cant just keep blowing money around. however like macca said if thier is know one else available than we should keep kenny. rafa would be an option but my head just says no. whate ever happens to kenny hill always be a legend. please post on rumpurs thanks eds.

15 May 2012 17:10:11
I said last week that Kenny would be staying and I stick by that. He will have at least until the end of the season to convince the owners He's the right man. The meeting was simply a review of the season and they discussed new coaching acquisitions to strengthen the coaching set-up, the imminent appointment of a Director of Football and who it's likely to be and the players Dalglish wants to sign this summer as they want to move quickly for 2 reasons;
1. To sign them before the Euros.
2. To move quickly before other clubs target/bid for the same player.
As I said last week, the board want to appoint David Dein to a role that would see him run the club on a day-to-day basis. Ian Ayre's position is under threat. The board think he is an excellent commercial director and he could be moved back to that position.

Javier Martinez
Diame
Dembele
Hoilett

Adam Johnson (part of Skrtel move)
Berbatov
De Jong

Out

Skrtel
Spearing
Maxi

Hope Kd is staying and rebuilds with a mix of young and experienced
If we can convince the players above I think we can mount the challenge for top 4 and a successful EL campaign would be a good season

i dont understand some peoples obsession with wanting players from a certain part of the world. There are many good players from South America and Spain who i think could do well(and i also hope we sign) at liverpool however i do not think we should target players because they are from somewhere. I wouldn't mind if our whole squad was from the north pole as long as they could do the job.

Never forget 96

In same position for my kids shirts, a lot of money if he is sold but I believe in this club and it would be crazy to sell our top star. Players like Luis are not easy to find, which is the reason everybody wants his name on their back.

I ll be absolutely gutted if Kenny gets sacked,I feel all of his signings will improve greatly next season and we would have a really top side with a couple of signings.i won't be attending any games next season if there is a change of manager especially if it's Martinez.ive supported Liverpool for 25 years and am disgusted the way Kenny's reign will come to an end.

15 May 2012 16:02:21
The owners did not get Kenny to Boston to sack him, they wanted him for another season..

The only way he will leave is if there has been a fall out during the meetings..

I personally think that up until the Arsenal game we have played some of the best football seen at Anfield for a long time..

I also believe that if we change the manager it needs to be one that is world class and not a young up and coming (Rodgers or Martinez)..

Again things may change but up until the end of last season there was no way the club would have Rafa back because he wants total control, which i believe the Americans will not allow..

I personally would have him back but that is just my opinion..

I also believe we should get behind Kenny if he is still manager because he cares as much as us..

I believe the owners need to spend in order for us to compete..

Cheers

Macca

Absolutely gutted, Kenny for another season. This season has been a joke, where miles off the top. So I'm guessing second season is aiming for 4th, maybe we'll come close this time.

The owners have already spent enough in my opinion Kennith wasted the money we had available i do not want to see a SINGLE English//Scottish/Irish player coming in in the summer unless its for the academy.

Eds, correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember a number of months ago Suarez stating that he would leave the club if Dalglish was to do the same?

Looking like the supposed announcement was a load of lies, I think kenny could take us to top 4 but I don't think he could win us the title. JF92

Well Benitez couldn't.. Neither could Houlier or Evans.
Guess were in schudt no matter who it is ...
Guess we best stick to the guy who has on more than one occasion and with more than one club.

Hey fellow Reds ... I am in a training class in Saint Louis, Missouri. But I have to know what is going on with King Kenny. I keep refreshing this page looking for info. Please keep the updates on whats happening with our managerial situation.

YNWA

The only reason Kenny , Steve and possibly few others travelled to Boston is for the end of season review, its a common practise and every club conduct one about this time, why there and not here is because of the big red sox game that is coming up.
It has nothing to do with Kenny's position, sacking or otherwise , all this nonsense is because of few easily excitable journalists making up stories ....
Relax and enjoy your class.

I cannot believe some of the comments on here regards KK.

You call yourselves Liverpool supporters? Your a disgrace.

Get back to your PS and leave these forums to the adults. You know nothing about football, its not FM.

110% back Kenny to take LFC forward. Those spouting Martinez lol, another RH in the making. We will deffinatley be mid table every year.

Patience is the word... PATIENCE...

Lee73

It is you that don't have a clue mate, we are badly falling behind the top 4, passion for the club is one thing, but I just can't see kenny as the man to take us there, we need to bring in someone who can takes up a level, granted that's not roberto, but you can't tell people you are right when everyone of us is entitled to an opinion, so stop being an ar$

To be fair mate i do agree with what you are saying, but to say patience is a bit of a disgrace, we have been patient enough in my opinion.
When did we last win the league mate ?
We spent big money and finished behind Everton. Something needs to change.

LTP The Red

Lee73 could you please indicate to me one thing KK has done this season which hasn't been either a PR nightmare or a tactical blunder. Respect in the sport and past history can only keep you above water for so long. Tell me what Kenny has which liverpool need so badly??

Get rid of him please FSG

So if Martinez was unveiled as Liverpool manager, your "lol" suggests you wouldn't be supportive of him? That sounds like a "real Liverpool fan" to me.

Tristan

3rd poster- He won us a trophy. 1st one in some years

You must be a Kenny supporter not a Liverpool one. if you think this season was acceptable on any level your looking through the same deluded glasses as dalglish.

Like macca said we need a world class manager. Martinez does not fit that category. Kenny will turn it around, you'll see.

15 May 2012 16:38:13
Here's my take on it. Fenway have offered Kenny something or other and Kenny isn't sure. He's been told to think on it and is on his way home. That's why nobody knows what the hell is really going on. Maybe Fenway have told him that they want him to move upstairs because X manager is getting the job and Kenny isn't sure if that's good enough.Just a thought.

Just been informed that it was John Henry who insisted on signing Jordan Henderson and wanted him to play on the right hand side to put crosses in the box as his favourite tv programme is about a Boston medical examiner called 'Crossing Jordan'. Sounds likely to me.

Lol that is it

15 May 2012 16:37:50
This taken from latest post on this is Anfield:

: Kenny Dalglish has returned to England today and goes on a family holiday on Wednesday. Steve Clarke, meanwhile, spent the evening in Boston and attended the Red Sox baseball game with Werner and Henry, before flying to Miami for a planned holiday.

It is likely the meeting was brief as it was moved forward, with a more stringent review at a later date when Henry and Werner return to Merseyside.

although i love kenny. Never wanted him to get the job in first play done well short term and Thats all it should have ever been. But if he is no longer manager i cant help but feeling Martinez would be a mistake ok he has done well with wigan but feel it could be just like hodgson.

Whatculture reporting that Kenny Dalglish has resigned as Liverpool Manager

15 May 2012 16:36:09
Jamie carragher to be player manager. Him and stevie know just who they want, no one knows the team better than them. Would be a good call by fsg. What do you think eds?

Dont be daft
Jaydee ynwa

Interestin, and it makes me smile thinking about it

Carra will only buy and play scouser's/british he doesn't like the euros. therefore no,, hell no.

just because your name is carragher and played for liverpool doesn't mean you get to go and be the manager of liverpool as soon as you get your badges

15 May 2012 16:32:36
After all the talk of an announcement being made at 3:00, then 3:30, 4:00, 4:30 ... im sure it will come at 5:00, or maybe 5:30 ... but for sure by 6:00 or so

Come on people get real, all it takes is for one journo to put on twitter "oh I THINK bla bla bla" and so many people take that journos opinion as the gospel! Its not going to happen, now get behind the manager, don't turn into Chelsea fans
KEEP THE FAITH

15 May 2012 16:27:00
Because the name is kenny he must stay otherwise poor guy who replaces him this season will be up against it from start like a certain previous manager.
He does not deserve to but he must get one more season.
He certainly deserves respect as legend.
Red indian
Ps-my journalist brother says he is staying

15 May 2012 16:26:40
Everyone Who I Know who works at the club is telling me that kenny has loved the way Oscar Cardozo has played all season and last too. He is attempting to tie a move up for him this summer.

15 May 2012 16:25:03
Heard it here first, Gareth boughey to be next lfc manager. What a legend that Guy is.

15 May 2012 16:24:11
If Kenny is to be sacked, fair enough, I can accept that. Buts whats the point if they replace him with Martinez. Nothing against Martinez, and I don't mean to insult Wigan fans, but there is a world of difference between keeping at team from the drop for a couple of seasons on the bounce and building a title challenging squad. Eventually Wigan and Martinez will hit the wall and get relegated, they are playing with fire too often not to get burnt.

It seems FSG jumping on the bandwagon for a guy who had his team playing decent football for about ten matches at the end of the season, Martinez is the media darling at the moment, just like Hodgson was when the media foisted him on to us, we all know how that worked out. Remember Wigan have nearly went down every year Martinez has been in charge. It just seems a crazy ill though out strategy for our club.

Do we really need another Roy Hodgson at the club, can a perennial relegation class manager be what we want at Liverpool FC? If the have to replace Kenny, can FSG see that we need a proven winner brought in, they have to show ambition and give him the funds to buy some decent players. It will cost more to start with but it will be worth it in the long run. Look at that United team we all know they are average at best, but they do have a Fergie who I hate to admit is a top top manager and see what the achieve year in year out. We need something better than possible annual relegation scraps from a manger that has not proved he can offer anything else.

JL

15 May 2012 16:23:58
Macca makes a good point about the young and upcoming managers (Rodgers and Martinez) as it could turn out similar to hodgson so only a world class manager should be considered

15 may 2012 16:23:32
fsg know the fans feelings - rafa will replace kenny tomorrow and a bid for peter crouch is being lined up already

If they know the fans feelings the one man they won't consider is the eternally divisive Benitez

You had me convinced until you mentioned the name Peter Crouch

And Peter Thompson to play on the left wing!

Redpath

Oh dear God! Why does anyone want Rafa back? Then Crouch? Ok then bring back Andrei Voronin all is forgiven!!

Shut up you fool
LTP The Red

Didn't Voronin score more than Carroll?

15 May 2012 15:56:35
Hehee a good one Blair.
So what do you make out of the season; do you think we made progress?

Roy
-------------------------
Just read this Roy mate sorry for the late reply. The best thing I can say about our season is, we've been playing better football. We can all say about hitting the woodwork, the team needs time to gel, etc, etc. But the reality is the league dosn't lie. With all the money we spent and the players already at the club we could and should've finished higher. And the buck always stops with the manager.

Kennys formations, starting 11 and subs and timing of the subs. Has had me scratching my head sometimes. I remember Andy and Luis were starting to play well together. Then the next game away to United he was dropped?

If this was anyone but Kenny. I think we would all be calling for him to be sacked. But most of us have shown Kenny the respect he deserves. Kenny will do what's best for the club,:only he will know what that is.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Personally Blair, I had the same reservations about Kennys tactics but then I look back at the season and we have literally battered teams, so can you really criticise his tactics? I think the his biggest criticism came after the FA cup final, personally I don't understand why, The last time I checked you earn your spot on the team, and Spearing earned his based on his performance against the bitters in the Semis, Carroll did not. Also the irony of some supporters calling for Rafa back is hilarious, he would have put out the exact same team.

Personally I put a majority of the blame on the strikers, between Suarez, Kuyt and Carroll they have managed 17 league goals. As a club we have always expected 1 striker to produce that sort of return, but the total between our strikers, 17 goals? Not good enough.

Jatt YNWA

That is more or less how I would sum it up, but I will give credit to Kenny for the way we played, as you said we played better football and thats down to his style , what let us down is the execution and that is down to the players, there was a lot that have been tweeted and posted about Carroll, his attitude and effort (or lack off) in training was compared to Babel, there was a good reason why Capello said what he did about him, and what ever you think about Kenny, Carroll was his biggest signing , so it would've been a very good reason why he did not play him regularly.
Carroll was very good in fact awesome in the last few games, but I do wonder if he is not picked for the Euros, what effect this will have on his attitude and effort.
Roy

Rafa was 33/1 this morning on paddy power to be be our next manager and now he is 4/1. I think the writing is on the wall for kenny.
kopfiend 1978 ynwa

I said in January Jatt mate. That not buying another striker could come back and bite us in the ass. And sure enough it did.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

How many goals did we get from midfield lads? That's our biggest problem..

Although we need another striker without question.

Lee YNWA

Largely agree Blair, but whilst the buck does stop with the manager, and there has been a number of puzzling decisions by KD I still let down by most of the players (new signings and old). They all owe us more in terms of performance ...

Richards

With all the Kenny at Boston talk, we've forgotten our other hero who's just been made Bayern Leverkusen manager!
He took the reigns with 6 games to go, won 4 and drew 2..
Congratulations Sami Hyypia, We wish you well (Y)

Sky Sports News today released the team of the last 20 years, one voted for by the public, the other by journos - Ferdinand and Vidic where in it ahead of Hyypia!! How on earth!?

Would also like to wish him good luck. Would be great if he turned out to be world class and he returned to Anfield at some point!

If kenny goes we need to get the idea of martinez an benitez out of our heads that would be backwords as we seen with roy h a good manager but he is agood mid table one . we need mourinho or someone along the line a pure winner an us lfc fans should stand for notting less.

15 May 2012 15:49:03
Why are we being linked with Roberto Martinez? He has a 26.77% win rate at Wigan...hardly the kind of manager we should be aiming for...

Kenny Dalglish has a 21.82% win rate at Liverpool

Er, it's Wigan, what do you expect? They have no money to spend, frequently lose their best players and yet he always keeps them up.

That itself is pretty impressive but what's more, they finished only 9 points behind us this season....

Adam

It's Wigan mate, by rights the money they can spend on players,a27% win rate is fantastic.Fergie Mourinho or Mancini wouldn't do any better.

His teams play fantastic football, and he is a great manager.

So does david moyes at everton and hje gets touted for man u

Because he is crap and that is all we can hope to attract is crap

As there is stil no announcement and i have been told by numerous people thAt there will be no announcement either way tomight, i am looking for betting odds on him still being manager worth a punt. I hope we get fresh face in if am being honest, but i stil habe my doubts about these rumours {Ed002's Note - My opinion remains as it has done since Christmas - he will go. Don't want KK to go, but please find a suitable replacement if he does. I really hope we don't get the likes of Martinez. But if we do get him, I will support him.

Seriously, what is so wrong with Martinez?

Peopl say he 'doesn't have a good enough CV' and yet at the same time they demand a young manager, bit of a contradiction really.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for super quick responses recently. Much appreciated.

After reading the posts, up to now, would it be fair to say that Gaston Ramirez, Roberto Soldado/Luuk De Jong and Markel Susaeta are Liverpools main targets as we speak? I think we have a 6.5/10 chance of signing 3 of those four. Is that a calculated guess?

Thanks

Kam {Ed019's Note - Did you calculate it?}

You don't have to believe me and i laugh at some of the posts on this site sometimes, but apparently according to a very reliable source. Kenny has gone, he wanted to stay on but FSG 'politely asked him to step down' as macca knows nothings certain but its what i've been told. The source told me about Aguero signing, Henderson, Doni and others so i have reason to believe him. He works at an agent agency so he hears a lot. Feel sorry for Kenny if I'm honest, I just want a stable club.

Must be correct then if he predicted Aguero signing.

Tom.

I tried posting the same thing just afer 1pm shame it didnt get a look in

I think it is fair to say that the only way for us to contend with the likes of Spurs and Arsenal... and then gradually Man City, United and Chelsea is to acquire the talent which would be good enough to get into their teams.

This means finding a reputable manager, a proven manager and a well connected manager who can tap into the European and S American markets to bring the very best to Liverpool FC.

For me- this leaves us one candidate- RAFA BENITEZ. Imagine Rafa with decent funds, not needing to sell before he can buy and assembling a side worthy of contending for honours again?

Please click believe if you would like to see Rafa in charge. Unbelievable if you think Martiez or someone else should get the job.

****YNWA ****

Dont forget Newcastle in the list above.

Don't you just hate it when people ask you to click believe or unbelieve when there is no such option,it says AGREE or DISAGREE...bri teh red

Yes, dont forget the Geordies. They did finish above Chelsea you know and with their fantastic scouting system in place on the continent they will no doubt add very good players to their squad once again.

Marcelo biesla!

Rafa Benitez working under a DOF would be a recipe for disaster. The arguments over who does what, who's in charge, which players to sign would be never ending, it would be a circus. Do you not remember the power struggle Rafa had with the Yonks? It would happen all over again. Time to draw a line under Rafa and move on.

15 May 2012 15:10:02

There are Rumours going around that Kenny has stepped down or has been asked to step down following the disappointing season we have had, it really would not be surprised if that was the case.
A lot of speculations going around that Wigan's Martinez had been lined up as the favourite to replace kenny if he were to leave.
Personally, I don't think Martinez would do a great job as manager of Liverpool. He is still very young and has only managed Swansea and Wigan in his time both clubs are nowhere near as big as Liverpool, even if you combine them!
The pressure and expectation from the fans will be too much for him to take, maybe in a few years time but not now.
Rafa got to the champion's league final four times with Liverpool and Valencia winning once.
Martinez managed to avoid relegation with wigan a couple of times that is his highlight so far.
For me Rafa knows the club inside out and some of our better players were his signings, under his leadership we were feared in England and Europe and top four spot was something we did not have to worry about.
I know many fans are divided about the prospect of Rafa returning but wouldn't that be a better option than Martinez?

Who would you rather have to manage Liverpool out of Benitez & Martinez?

Benitez = agree
Martinez = disagree

abbs

Neither of the above. Between them, I'll stick with Kenny. Thanks. Singred

Look at all the crap benitez singed too but and liverpool were one of the most boring teams in the league to watch when he was coach. he got 6 seasons to try and win a title and lots of money was spent by him on players and it didnt work out. martinez has one of the smallest clubs in the premiership playing great football and im sure that the average age of the 1st team squad is very young too. he plays three at the back which is attacking and he is of course young. he also manages wigan with a small budget and still plays the best football in the league. did you ever think redknapp would be a top 4 manager ? i think that if kenny were to go then he shhould be the top man to replace him but i hope kenny stays.
derryred

Preferably Kenny, but if those rumours were to be true thats he's 'stepped down' for me it would have to be Marcelo Biesla to replace him. He's got the pedegree, charisma and experience for a club like Liverpool, has an eye for a player, gives young players a chance and likes to play with a fluid and attractive attacking style. Personally he would be the only right choice at this time. I still don't believe the Kenny rumours until we hear something, I really can't see them asking him to go all that way with a view that he was gonna be asked to go or to step down.

mikehoopersgloves

Rafa never took Valencia to the Champions League final. That was Hector Cuper. Rafa won the UEFA Cup with Valencia. Not that Im knit-picking!

Liverpool are refusing to comment on reports that manager Kenny Dalglish has left the club.

Dalglish and assistant Steve Clarke are known to have flown to the United States for talks with the club's owner John Henry and chairman Tom Werner.

And numerous reports on Tuesday afternoon suggested Dalglish has left the club.

Liverpool suffered their 14th defeat of a hugely disappointing Premier League campaign on Sunday, a 1-0 reverse at Swansea.

Dalglish delivered their first silverware in six years - the Carling Cup - and guided the Reds to the FA Cup final.

But the Americans are desperate to challenge for the Premier League title and play in the Champions League.

In the last month the restructuring of the club has led to the departures of director of football Damien Comolli, head of sports science Peter Brukner and, on Friday, director of communications Ian Cotton.

And newspaper reports suggested the club's bosses are lining up Wigan manager Roberto Martinez to take over from Dalglish.

Defeat at Swansea meant Liverpool recorded their lowest total of top-flight league victories (14) and lowest points tally (52) since 1953-54.

They also scored the fewest league goals (47) for 20 years and an eighth-placed finish was their worst for 18 years.

Just passing on what I've read

Cheers

Col

Kenny Dalglish Resigns As Liverpool Manager

Breaking news;

What Culture understands from its US-based sources that Kenny Dalglish has resigned as Liverpool manager today.

Dalglish and assistant manager Steve Clarke was scheduled to meet the Liverpool board Stateside this morning, including US owner John Henry and chairman Tom Werner, and we believe Dalglish's offer of resignation has been accepted with immediate effect. The Anfield legend leaves his post after just 18 months in charge and despite delivering a League Cup trophy (their first silverware in six years) and another Wembley final in the FA Cup defeat to Chelsea, Liverpool finished eighth this season after 17 league defeats, finishing 17 points behind the Champions League places and 40 points behind the top two.

During his spell in charge Dalglish had spent £114 million with the generous warchest partly funded by Fernando Torres' £50 million sale to Chelsea but also out of the US owners desire to get back into the Champions League. But they were so off the mark this season that their Champions League wish was over months before this past Sunday's finale when they lost again without a whimper, 1-0 at Swansea.

Liverpool FC are refusing to comment on the situation but we understand that an official announcement is expected at around 3.30pm UK time.

British newspapers reported over the weekend that US owner John Henry was eyeing Wigan manager Roberto Martinez to replace Dalglish after his impressive style of football has kept the Latics in the Premier Division for another season.

If you had asked me yesterday about what was going to happen today, I would have said that the much predicted end of season review would eb held and there would be much to discuss between the owners and the management. is kenny bk home or still in Boston

All links and tweets suggests he is still in Boston and still behind closed doors, no one know what the board and Kenny are discussing, so what ever you read below about someones brother or Kirkby is just fantasy.

This is British Airways not Star Trek transporter beams. If he was in Bostion an hour ago he's highly unlikely to be in the UK now.

Brother lives in Boston. Following news is all over place out there.
Kenny has handed in his resignation.
It was accepted.
Dont think he was offered any other role so clean break expected. Official statement expected shortly.

hi all just to inform you that as we speak kk is at the lfc academy in kirkby........ maybe saying goodbye...... maybe moving back into his old office thier.... but all indications would suggest he is no longer liverpool manager.

Got back from Boston quick then.

The meeting was done yesterday, have you not read anything?

why are we sacking our sport science people? I thought they were leaders in their field. Surely it isn't their fault we've had a disappointing season.

We are sacking them because the knowledge they brought has been passed on to medical staff on a lower wage to continue with the same work.

DOF has to be David Dean over Txiki' Begiristain for me, main reasons, has EPL experience and has overseen a stadium project which I think is crucial to us at this stage.
In KK we have a manager who has played under some of the greatest managers of all time, won everything at club level as a player/manager but has been out of the game 20 years, he has got us to 2 cup finals in his first season back, winning one and had a poor season by his standards in the league.
Do we swap him for Martinez who has experience in saving a team from relegation
Capello, boring football, language barrier, would probably overhaul the squad for which we have insufficient funds and time
Flores, much like AVB could find himself out of his depth due to inexperience in the EPL and would also need time which we cant afford to give him
AVB, didnt work at Chelsea, could it be the same at LFC
Rafa, been there done that, has LFC in his heart, can attract top players but has a poor record with owners and had a dissapointing end to his tenure with players and club performances
Mourinho, has had success with Clarke at Chelsea, won silverware at every club like Capello, knows how to win the EPL, volatile, always seeking the limelight.
Who can work with a DOF, who cant, who wont....
FSG, the decision is yours.
For me unless it was dare I say it Mourinho & Clarke, Id stick with KK for one more season

Hi all/Eds,

Just noticed the main page of Lfc website
With a YouTube vid of rumoured transfer targets
Can the eds shed light as to why Lfc would do this
They stress it's rumoured interests but all year the website has had sections relating to rumoured targets etc
I m unaware of another top club that have the likes of this on their site it seems unprofessional considering these ain't our players
I m not asking if we ll sign the players shown just wondering the logic behind such vids and constant "paper talk" sections on the website pls post on rumours eds
Any answer much appreciated

What was the talks in boston about? where they to discuss potential buys before the euros or about Kenny's postition? will there be a statement released explaining what the meeting was about?

Thanks

15 May 2012 13:43:08
people r saying that kenny is stepping down but he be involved in choosing the nxt manager

15 May 2012 13:41:09
I have posted on this site on a handful of occassions with solid info only as I carry out a lot of work at Melwood (mainly pre-season). I posted last summer that both Adam & Downing would definitley join albeit part of me now wishes I had got it wrong!

Anyway, I was at Melwood yesterday and did my annual bit of gossip digging and was told that Kenny's trip to the US was planned months ago as it was considered far more sensible to make the trip at the end of the season. Kenny will also get to meet other FSG members aside from JH and TW.

All these tabloid "Kenny dragged to US to save his job" headlines are bull. Kenny will of course be asked to give his take on the season and the plan going forward but he is too well respected to be treated like a naughty child.

I am also told the Kenny will "meet" the new DOF and set out the plan for next season.

There are all sorts of names being mentioned as transfer targets most of which sre well documented on this site. I have heard there is serious interest in Hooper of Celtic, Johnson at Man City and Tiote of Newcastle.

Enjoy the summer ed's!!

Why would Tiote leave Newcastle for Liverpool? Bigger attendances and a club that are going places. He will note that it has not worked for Carroll and Enrique. The grass is not always greener.

How about liverpool have a global fan base and are simply a much bigger club by far!
Thats more than enough reason fella.

Good post. the more likely explanation as you say is that this is an end of term catch up where A9s reported) a reveiw of the season will be undertaken and the strategy for the trasnfer window agreed. It also gives KK the chance to get to know some of the stateside team who are doing so much to develop and help promote the club. Reality Red

15 May 2012 13:38:01
If Kenny does step down, or is promoted, or let go, or whatever, I hope the fans are supportive of him. I agree it is best if he is not the manager going forward, but celebrating someone else's demise has never been the LFC way and shouldn't be now.

Coop

What all these rumours about Martinez, is there any truth in it?

15 May 2012 13:36:11
tried posting a few times before but couldn't find them anywhere...plz post this ed's...i think Kenny should step aside for the good of the club, he is and always will be a legend but has been out of management far 2 long, we need some1 like Martinez who is prem proven....i feel these players can add depth and good options to our squad without breaking the bank

Diame and Moses
De Jong

Hot off the press. KK has resigned and returned from Boston.

However Steve Clarke stayed in Boston (and wne to a game) and is believed to be trying to persuade the special one to ditch Madrid in favour of LFC.

Its not known whether he will accept but that is why there is a delay in the announccment of Kenny going.

If he does not accept Martinez or even possibly Steve Clarke will be named.

Steve Clarke is in Boston, trying to persuade Mourinho who is presumably in Madrid, to join LFC?
are they doing it on Skype?

If Kenny does move away from 1st team management, I would be happy to put money on Clarke being the next Boss....

KK returned from boston already - what's he got a spaceship?

If kenny is staying then I presume that all of you anti kenny brigade will no longer require tickets to watch the team. Good, that will enable more real fans to get to watch and support the team. I would keep kenny if only to get rid of "fans " like these and allow the real supporters to support our team.

If KK goes, I will be very disappointed. No matter who the manager will be next season I can't see us having a better league campaign. We need stability and a few of the under-performers (which really is putting it mildly) to step the hell up. I definitely don't want another flavour of the month (like roy hodgson was) coming in. We've played some great stuff this year but the final results have been the exact opposite. We need stability and consistency. I only want what's best for the club and for me that is Kenny Dalglish. Anyone can have a poor season. Let's give the man another season to put it right. And for all those abusive posts towards the great man, H#CK YOU ALL.

Steven Gerrard beat Roy Keane to take a place in supporters' Premier League team of the last 20 years.

Gerrard received 19 per cent of the public votes to join Paul Scholes (26 per cent) in central midfield as the Premier League celebrates its 20th birthday.

Roy Keane collected 16 per cent.

The team selected by more than 300,000 supporters from across the country was:

Fans'XI: Peter Schmeichel; Gary Neville, Tony Adams, Nemanja Vidic, Ashley Cole; Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard, Ryan Giggs; Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer.

Gerrard missed out on a place in the experts' 11.

Experts' XI: Peter Schmeichel; Gary Neville, Tony Adams, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole; Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs; Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer.

Where are the players roy bought for Liverpool surely they must rank as some of the best in the EPL in the last 20 years?

What a joke the fans team is. Keane is the best player to grace that league. He was a one-man army.

No Keane! What the hell!

Scholes, Viera and Gerrard should be fighting for the other spot.

At least the experts corrected that. Modern fans..... so dumb... That's as bad as Rooney's mis-hit 'best goal ever'.

Utd have dominated the league for the last 20-odd years.

Over half the awards should go to them. Get over it man!

ps - Keane for best player imo - but I agree that these polls are rather stupid - voted for en-masse by people with very little knowledge of the game.

Rooney's mis**t attempt at an overhead kick was voted best goal - What a joke - the Spanish and Italians must have pissed themselves laughing when they saw that!

If kenny is no longer the manager of LFC then I don't see why FSG would have either martinez or Capello as manager. They have have invested too much money in to the club to stay in mid table. They want to win & want value for money too. I think they will keep kenny as manager as this is a project & if LFC dont finish in top 4 next season then yes look at the manager/payers/team again. If i am wrong & Kenny does go FSG need to have another manager with the same CV as the likes of the Rafa's, Redknapp's & the Mourinho's & even the Pep Guardiola's (please note that I am not saying any of the managers that I have mentioned will be the next manager!). This is just my words, I love LFC & have done all my life (am 33). I just want this best for the club but also support them through bad times & the good. I don't think will know anything for sure until start of the next season or even at the end of the transfer window. I love this site too. Thanks for letting me have my say.

Living in Limerick , ireland, and was at the game last night. Rodolfo and his young charges were in town for a friendly. ended 1-1 with Nathan Ecclestone on the score sheet. best player on the pitch by far. just wondering why exactly are we letting this guy go? or are we?

did not get an opportunity myself to heckle the bench about KK but a couple of lads did to which a reply came that he is going nowhere.make of it what you will but just tholught i would share that.

Think he got into trouble for speaking his mind about 911 which is not allowed. I know he represents the club and all that but was the world not told the US wars on Afghanistan and Iraq were to bring "Freedom". The first amendment applies to all things American so the lad should be allowed have an opinion. My full support is behind Kenny Dalglish for another season. Anyone coming into the managers job now will find it very difficult but Kenny is halfway through his project, he will have learned from mistakes this year and there is no better replacement at present. Keep your AVB Chelsea rejects and your purveyors of dull, defensive football (rafa) and your unproven flash in the pan one season wonders (Rogers, Martinez). Keep your high profile, high budget managers who are only successful with a couple of hundred mill and the worlds best players (Pep, Maureen). Give me a manager who's blood runs Red and would give his left leg for Liverpool football club, who understands the history and traditions of the club and believes in the game played the right way.
Getting rid of Kenny, without an adequate replacement, will cause way more damage to LFC than a poor league position.
YNWA Kenny Dalglish

cozinoz

He should evaluate his tactics and his transfers. His tactics has been Sh*t this season. But I still support Kenny. Next season for top 4.
Come on u reds!!!

Now this is precisely what I needed to buoy my spirits up. Good man. I share your doubts about the managers being touted around as candidates too. Not one of them can match Kenny's passion for Liverpool.

Couldn't agree more.

Would love to see how Pep, Mourinho and the like do at Hereford United with a budget of £30 and a Big Mac.

Tristan

Why we want to spoil another seosan. kenny is not a long time plan. so start plan now we should think now who will be with us next 4/5 years.

hhh

Cozinoz, it does not matter if kenny stays or goes. he was never intended to be our long term manager. he only has another year running on his contract, so we were gonna have a new manager sooner than u expected. If we dont get one next season, we definitely will season after next.
Indian Buzzer

C'mon Buzzer even YOU aren't that stupid to think we would get rid of KK if he got us Top 4 or more next year? Or are you?

Its about the long term u stupid unnamed poster. The owners never wanted kenny as a long term solution to take the club forward. They had other managers lined up. kenny was brought back to steady the ship, not take us back to the top, which i think is beyond him.

how the hell isnt gerrard one of the best player nominees of the premier league in the last 20 years
wazaldinho7

Not won prem

Because he's not that good. I don't know who makes up the list but off the top of my head.

Giggs, Scholes, Keane, Schemeichal, Ferdinand, Neville, Rooney, Cantona, Beckham, Ronaldo

Lampard, Terry, Cole, Drogba, Zola

Henry, Bergkamp, Keown, Adams, Seaman, Viera

All won numerous Championships. Gerrards won zilch.

Chelski

Not won Prem? Pfft

He's won everything else. Only (CM) Keane, Viera and Scholes have been in his league since the Prem started.

Lee YNWA

Of course they have.

Obviously not fat Frank. After all he has only won 3 Prem Titles, is the highest goalscoring centre mid ever in the Premier League, played the most consecutive games at one point in a row, and the only player ever in the premier league to score something like 20+ goals 9 seasons in a row. But you're right, he doesnt come close to Steven.

Chelski

Won zilch.....er champs league, europa, fa and now league cup. get ur facts straight b4 posting muppet.

slimboy

No, not Lampard Mr Chelski.

Close... but scoring a shed load of pens doesn't come close to a Gerrard montage of 30+ yarders, heatseeking passes, crunching tackles, late late winners etc etc..

Frank Lampard has been a superb player, just hadn't got 'it' .. Like Gerrard and the aforementioned players.

If Kenny stays or goes makes little difference the owners call the shots with how much money they want to pump in! Mancini has done wonders at city and he isn't exactly a top top manager!
I believe we in 4/5 years will have the best squad of players who actually want to play for us!
They do need to do something sharpish about the stadium though our rivals fit nearly double the fans in

Pretty sure he has just won a premeir league title. He cant be that bad a manager can he, especially with all the personalities he has to deal with, with the likes of Tevez and balotelli. Anyone that can win a league title is a very good manager.

Hi Ed's
Really good site!
I think for Liverpool to get where they need to be they need a manager who can attract the top players! Benitez is that man he made some awesome signings with hardly any money to spend! Imagine what he could do given 50-60mill over the summer!
What are the chances? Plz reply!
B.C

He wouldn't need to sign a striker, because he only ever uses one man up front.

Red Owl

An he will ship out any skillfull player in the club or use them only as subs. Ask Garcia, benayoun, Babel

But Suarez isn't a lone striker he needs someone to play alongside or as a 10

The sooner Rafa gets a job somewhere the better. It might stop all his love children constantly crying out for his return. Maybe they can all go and support whoever he manages next. Last time I looked the club was Liverpool FC not Rafa FC.

All this speculation about KK, I do find it a bit unsavoury, to say the least.
I am and always will be a absolute fan of KK, he is my true LFC hero.
That said, one can't argue about the seasons shortcomings.
I hope sanity prevails and that FSG see what KK can still offer the club.
The fact that he has flown to Boston for discussions, indicates (in my mind) that all parties are discussing the alternatives available, what that means is anyones guess.
I will now wait for news.

Everton Fulham (joint) Arsenal! Its not good enough, simple! If we didn't spent a £, fans would want our owners out so i want kenny out!
He plays Spearing? JAY SPEARING WTF...... Small, 5ft.1 got no strength, baby body and offers nothing!
he plays Shelvey, Harsh cant tackle, needs a season out on loan before he walks into our starting 11!

Its all a joke we cant even beat Cardiff in 90 mins and he calls that progress we can finish top 4 but calls that progress?

Everton above us progress? Fulham joint 8th progress? lost FA cup progress? worse home record progress? worse goals in a season progress?

So, you are going to stop supporting Liverpool then? Good riddance. Real supporters support the club, manager, players all the time untill they are no longer part of the club. Then we respect them.

I've suspected for a long time that a groundshare WILL still happen, but I'm probably miles off the mark. A debate is underway on Talk-Sport regarding this issue and I wonder what some of you think. Everton are desperate for this ground-share. I don't want it personally.

Forgive me as it is just an opinion.

Do you think it will happen?

Do you think the Liverpool fans would support such a move?

If it did happen, then many potential investors would invest in Everton wth a possibility of more transfer funds etc, would you be happy with the thought of a mega-money investment in Everton?

DaveyBootle

As Regards Ground Share Henry has already said its an option he's not interested in pursuing

First matters first though if Liverpool can't compete against the top teams then a bigger ground will hardly be required?

Success breds supporters as Man Citeh are demonstrating!

The team will have to be compettitive before Henry can agree the sort of deals he needs to build a new stadium even one that requires ground sharing

Another problem

Everton have no money so where are they going to fund a ground share, everton may like the idea but ideas and reality are not the same.

ITs in the wind

Potential investors in Everton may be tempted with the idea.

DaveyBootle

Any investor like to make a profit

Owning half a football stadium seems a bad way to make a profit? {Ed002's Note - It would be the same income to Liverpool but half the development costs and reduced maintenance costs.}

Ed as a Liverpool fan I am not concinced we can compete for major honors with the likes of man citys spending power, yes Liverpool spent over 100m but even salary wise we are no where near able to compete with the salaries they cam over and Nor do I want us to be paying ridiculuos money to players as I believe they already get paid far too much'. ED, however how can man city pay these salaries each week because surely if they won all competitions they would still make a loss. Mate with the financial fair play,does the owners paying their own money on man city players come into the frame because I think this contradicts financial fair play. man city thr club is not sustainable but the owners are. ED do you undertand my point mate and could you enlighten me if I am completely of the mark? {Ed002's Note - Manchester City will not be able to sustain their current model under the FFP rules. Their slight saving grace at the moment is that they have a considerable value built in to the surplus staff who could go - by that I mean selling Adabayor, Bridge, Tevez, De Jong, Johson etc will bring in a great deal of money.}

ED002 not an attack just my opinion

No doubt slight of hand and a few envelopes will alow Citeh Continue their financial plans

The inital punishment put forward for breaking the financial fair play rules is not that punative either, consistent breaking of the rules is somewaht more punishing but will it be implemented in full?

Doubting Thomas {Ed002's Note - There will not be any envelopes passing between hands. The FFP rules come in with anger as of June 2014. The three years, including this season, leading up to it will provide a baseline acceptance. All clubs breaching the rules at that time will claim they are moving in the right direction and a few will be given a slap on teh wrist. One side has opted out completely and said they have no interest in teh rules. From about 2017/18 they will look to some "serious" level of punishment if needs be - but they continue to fear a breakaway pan-European league so even then there will be a level of nervousness. I would not worry too much about it just yet.}

I really do think FFP will be thrown out of the window soon. These are pointless rules that are hard to implement and even harder to punish those that break them.
Forget City , they still a relevant nobodies, the likes of Real and Barca are up their neck in debt, do you think they will ever be banned from Champions league?

Roy

Would like to believe that UEFA will push through the FFP rules with vigour but I don't, as you say they will be threatened with breakaway league, etc.

Has it not already been proved in football and olympia that money talks in decision making?

Also aren't city in for RVP?

Who else will city buy over the summer?

Rhetorical questions

I would like to believe but unfortunately most things in this world are corrupt?

Doubting Thomas {Ed002's Note - Manchester City will sell and buy this summer. They will try for Hazard and Higuain and may look to Di Maria or Belhanda. No doubt a shock signing or two as well.}

So Kenny has won the Carling Cup. But lets face it he has had an awful season in the premiership. He has spent and wasted millions on average players. He has been a disgrace when getting interviewed. His handling of the Suarez affair was disgraceful. I personally will be glad when he has gone.

Yeah but Manutd supporters opinions don't count

cozinoz

Have you no respect? Glad? Really? By all means question his ability to continue but have some respect for a living legend who has put so much into this club. If you can't support the club when we are winning then don't support us at all. I feel, given the circumstances he should stay for another season so he can at least say he was given the chance and if it is not successful walk with his head held high. Whatever happens I hope he leaves with his dignity and health in tact.61 year old man with the weight of the world on his shoulders with a near impossible task, with glory hunting, clueless, un-informed, so called fans like yourself calling for his head. Pffft...

Its as simple as this... Kenny or the new manager just needs to look at our goals return. IT WAS PATHETIC! We need another out and out striker. One who can slide right into the team and simply score goals for fun. Its not likethere isnt plenty to choose from, its all about price. FSG should just break the bank and get a world class front man in ASAP. Plus a creative midfielder for a reasonable outlay.

Lets get real guys. There are genuine factors which have led to our very disappointing league campaign. The mess inherited by KK and FSG was of huge proportions. This does not get fixed in 18 months. The squad inherited was very poor, full of deadwood earning huge wages and with little or no balance too. It is impossible for any manager in this time frame to turn a club in the state that we were in into a fighting force challenging for the league. This is a fanciful expectation. Even getting us to challenge for 4th is not an easy task to accomplish in 18 months given the mess that has been and still needs to be cleaned up. Yes KK has spent money, but this needs to be placed into context. A net spend of £40m over 18 months needs to be compared with the fact that at the same time our competitors City, Chelsea, Man U and probably Spurs too (Arsenal being the exception) all have all spent more than us in this time period with the added advantage that when KK took over they had far better squads than us. KK has also had to overhaul the playing format which under Houllier, Benitez and Hodgson (with varying degrees of success) became further and further removed from our heritage of pass and move. As has been recently reported a major objective for the club in the last 12 months has been to get us to play a better brand of football. KK has delivered on this. We have seen pass and move return. Unfortunately we have at times been let down by the fact that our squad is not (surprisingly) incomplete. We need continued stability for a period of 2-4 years during which we can add to the squad in a calm and considered manner 1-2 key players at a time. I can understand that after many years of no league title many have run out of patience, however there is no other remedy but yet some more patience and some stability. KK knows the club inside out. Give him the time that was given to Houllier and Benitez and he will deliver. Reality Red

Im completely shocked by all the anti-Dalglish sentiment from so-called supporters. This is a man who has devoted much of his life to LFC, be it in the good times by winning titles or the bad times when guiding a greiving city through the Hillsborough aftermath and taking over during the wreckage of the Hicks & Gillet regime.

KD has purchased young players to build a team for the future. Just because we didnt get Champs League in the first season, fans are calling for his sacking!

Its time to show some class. Its time to back Kenny.

Im sure the majority of true LFC supporters. I know the Kop certainly does. Please hit agree if you agree, and the other button if you would rather we sold our souls and ditched him for a 'younger' manager with no LFC connections to rip up what KD has done and start again.

It's not that we JUST didn't get the champions league Red G,,(It's not like we just missed out on it, e.g like Newcastle)

It's because we had our worst league run and finished in our lowest position in 60 years, level on points with fulham in 8 spot after we spent over £100 million, the second half of the season was relegation form. (Worse than Hodgson)
As football fans we all know in reality that the Carling cup is a Mickey Mouse tournament which none of the other teams really care about. Scraping past Cardiff in a shoot-out can hardly be seen as progress.
No one is slagging off or bein disrespectful to Kenny,, as Liverpool fans we all know he's a legend and always will be.

I just wish fans would view and judge him as any other manager now, on the work he's doing right now, not what he did over 20 years ago.

Anfield Barry

I disagree, i think he should step down. if at work i do mistake today, my boss will not be happy for me to make the same mistake again. so why should kenny be different. I admire him, but i support LIVERPOOL no one is above my beloved club. we belong at top of the summit, and sadly kenny is not the man to take us there and will never be.

Finesse-Seychelles

Taking the blame for the lack of effort shown by the summer signings??

HE'S THE ONE WHO BROUGHT THEM IN!!!!!!!

Managers live and die by their signings, results and league position at the end of season.
How can people still defend him??

I get the arguement about our final points tally and final position and that if it was Woy Hodgson he would have to go. But this is Kenny. We cant treat him as any other manager, as someone else suggested we should, because he is not.

Henderson, Carroll, Coates, etc are going to come good. With lessons learned and a couple of additions and a bit more luck, Im really confident for next year with Kenny in charge.

For all he has done for us, Kenny deserves our respect and at least another season (in my humble opinion).

15 May 2012 10:31:11
I don't see why a percentage of fans are wanting the kings to get sacked. I understand the fans disappointment, I also see the positives we can take from this season. We all know the league position isn't the true position we should be in and just about sums our season up.

After dominating the majority of games this season it still leaves me thinking "how can a team that has 70% possession, 16 corners, 19 shots and 9 on target, still come away with a 1-0 defeat?"

Certain fans comparing The King to Roy are a bit of the mark. We were only a few points off the bottom 3 with half the season gone and playing some of the worst football I had seen in ages. The king was the one the Kop were singing for, and rightly so. He rescued us from relegation with players like, Poulson, Cole, Ngog, etc. That to me proved The King was more suited to the Liverpool job than Roy and in the second half, when KK took over, only Chelsea gained more points per game.

The hype begun and suddenly we were going to win the league the following season. What people forgot was we had a whole new sqaud with several players shipped out and brought in, Players that were superb fot their last club.

Charlie Adam, Blackpool player of the year, shortlisted for player of the season, Stewart Downing, AV player of the season who created more chances than any other player from the wing. Jose Enrique a good solid left back who's stats read he was one of the best defensively in the prem. We then bought players for the future, Andy Caroll and Henderson, both look like they will set the league on fire and will become Liverpool legends.

We started the season and up until Lucas was injured, we were in the mix for top4, despite the new signings, (bar Enrique) out of form and feeling the pressure of playing for a massive club.

If you take into a count that a team needs time to gel and learn a different style of play, I believe we were doing ok. We were dominating teams and doing everything right but put the ball in the back of the net.

If we can get AC and LS scoring for fun, which I believe we will then we would easily be in the mix for top4. Yes the team needs strengthening, ST, RM, CDM and maybe a CAM but does anyone truly think we will be in this position this time next year?

If the team works hard and believes we can win,
fans believe we can win and both the fans and the players give everything until the final whistle we will see a better Liverpool team next season. Anfield can not carry on how it is, how can we expect the players to give 100% when we as fans only give 50%?

The season is over so let's look to a fresh start. Let's get behind the team and stick together like the family we once was. I can say with my hand on my heart that every player will put in 110% next season and if they don't then they don't deserve to play for us.

Keep the faith guys, believe in the sqaud. If we believe they will believe. If we want to be a force again we all need to support our team for the full 90mins, with a fresh season and everything to play for... We will see some good results.

"We all know the league position isn't our true position??? "
What on earth are you talking about?
The league table never lies, you want an accurate idea on how good a team are you look at their league position at the end of the season.
If you finish in 8 spot, (you're lowest in decades), level on points with fulham after spending £100 million its because you're a bad team,, you don't end up in 8 because of bad luck.

Anfield Barry

Barry.
While what you say is half true, you need to see the bigger picture. It's not just bad luck we've had this season that's made us where we are, it's a number of factors.

The fact that the team needed to gel, learn each others game. The fact AC wasn't fit enough and only started high intensity training when he arrived at Liverpool. The price tag that the 22year old had hanging over his shoulders. The loss of one of the best CDM in the league (Lucas) with having no suitable back up. Suarez getting banned and all the bad publicity that when with it. The serious injury to our captain, the fact we have hit the woodwork 33 times this season, players confidence at an all time low and the fact that the away team has been louder than the home fans at Anfield for most of the season.

It's not the fact the players are crap because they played well at the previous clubs.

Thinking outside the box, any chance of the Korean winger from Bolton? (assuming his leg is fixed) plus Martin Petrov as an impact player if Downing is struggling? Both got good pace and decent crossers of the ball for the big man up top. Plus shouldn't cost too much?

Bolton players are not the answer.

Not the sort of players we want, technically theyre sound but consistency wise petrov is poor and the Korean lad has only had a good half a season of playing time so far

"Were you a legend at your workplace? LOL"

- I'm pretty sure he's a legend now!

Difference is you went in and cocked it up, Kenny came in when we were a right mess, and has improved us... say what you want about 8th, but we won a cup, got to another final, are back in Europe... you may not like the signings but i believe with good wingers Carroll will become a beast, Hendo is young and looks promising for the future, some people need to realize we are not a one year fix, it will take time and Kenny is the right man for it, he loves the club and will do everything in the best interests of the club, unlike people like Mourhino who only cares about his C.V, leaves clubs in debt , never brings through youth. I'm seriously fed up of all this bashing to the man, i am not old enough to have seen him play or see his great side of 88, but i am old enough to know we are a lot better than last year, and are moving forward, get behind your manager and players or go support someone else.

G BOX

That sounds made up..

G BOX , I respect your views entirely but you missed out one fact - £130m . Most of the people in the Anfield crowd could have spent £130m in a more effective way .

Ritters

@Ritters, yep i agree with you on the £130 million point, i don't think the players he bought were bad signings at the time, just think the prices were way over top, in my other posts i do state that he has to be a lot more smarter in the window this year.

G BOX

How has he improved us?? After a £100 million spent our league postion is lower than last year? Our league run under Kenny was statistically worse than Hodgeson!

Don't mention the Carling cup,, its a Mickey Mouse tournament which no other big club cares about and we scraped past Cardiff in a Shoot-out

Anfield Barry

Kenny has not done a very good job - and this season has been pretty shambolic.

But saying he spent 100-130 million is a distortion of the truth. He recouped a lot of that money in sales.

The owners haven't spent too much taking over - they've sold to fund buys.

I'd love to see a comparison of FSG spending compared to Hicks & Gillett's spending too. I'd say it would be a close run thing.

FSG talk a good game, but as for actions? I'm still waiting.

The talk of having little to spend this year is a bit worrying.

We'll see if it's true - I don't expect them to be shouting 'we're loaded' either! But past spending suggests they're not gonna give much apart from money raised by sales.

Still - Kenny should have spent the money he had a lot better.

He has also played most of the new signings out of position, or dropped them when they found form.

He admitted this himself but continues to do so.

At least Downing is a lot better than he thought he was....

???

How anyone can think Kenny should stay and be given more money to spend (even £1m) is baffling.

When working with limited funds - and selling to buy - a manager must be shrewd when spending.

If you splash out big - You had better be right.

BJH YNwA. (I still reckon that Downing, Hendo, Carroll, Coates et al can be good signings - but not with Kenny in charge - he signed them, but he is ruining them.)

15 May 2012 10:08:32
First off the league position was not great but I am sick of supporters who turn on the players, who say henderson, carroll and downing are useless.

Jordan Hendo was quality at sunderland,he got an england call up there and is england U21 skipper. Downing was always a creative force at middlesbrough, put in top crosses and he did the same at villa...some villa fans were more upset that they lost him than they were over losing ashley young..carroll will be a world class number 9 and I shudder at the thought of an andy carroll with the support of his fans instead of fickle fans who turn on their players after 1 season!

We outplayed many top teams but were not clinical enough and did not put them away...I understand that but at times the football was much more entertaining than what I saw under houllier and rafa...

We are short 5 signings but I dont believe we are as far off as some people think. Enrique was tops to watch at the beginning of the season but he had no one that was established to push him and keep him on his toes,so another left back is needed. A creative, attacking mid to sit behind the strikers in the mould of siggurdson or coutinho would give us so much. A predator in the box who can constantly run into channels with our pass and move football is missing. BACK UP FOR LUCAS PLEASE!! most improved liverpool player over past few years and he was the top holding mid in the league for me until he got injured! Most importantly a pacey winger that can bring the best out of andy Carroll..A top right winger would change this team and I believe this is the position we should spend the most on.

Frustrating season to watch but I believe the current owners are winners and the investment will be there! We are such a great club and we will come right!!

YNWA

Henderson was quality at Sunderland? You are having a laugh. Sunderland fans were laughing when we paid all that money for him. Cant tackle, cant pass forward and doesnt score many goals.

Actually i have a mate from Sunderland i work with and he is a season ticket holder, he was gutted when Henderson left and he said so was the fans, he also said he would take him back in a heartbeat for £20 million...

This season has not gone to plan, he is feeling bit down, he needs all our support to turn this around. Don't get yourself dragged with media. Media hate Kenny and LFC, they don't want LFC to do well.I request please keep faith in King Kenny. No body becomes successful in One season. What Kenny is doing is building a strong base(some what Bill Shanks did all those years ago).

thanks for not supporting LFC

LifeLongREDKP

Kenny helped us finish 8th, so let's all thank him lol when you're given over £100million you're supposed to get better results, which he hasn't. Kenny should step down before he does damage to his legend status. Imagine if we face a relegation battle, will you want to remember Kenny as the guy from 20+ years ago with championship after championship, or the guy that almost got our club relegated or worse, got us relegated

If the media hate Kenny - maybe it's because when he talks to them he sounds like an ars*hole.

Sorry. I love Kenny - but it's true.

Not all journalists are ars*holes. If the media hate him - it's his fault. He is a PR disaster.

Do you really think the likes of Hooper, N'Zonzi and Hoilett are top class players who are going to improve our team? Can you imagine the top 4 buying these players - I cant.

Then again, these three would be better than Adam, Downing and Carroll!!

Hoillett does have the makings of a quality player, he's 22 or something and shows pace, an eye for goal and a reliable final ball, and yes I can see a top 4 side buying him

What the f*** is happening with Liverpool supporters? Through history we have been known as fans who stick by our team manager club owners etc. f*** me Souness was in long enough to f*** up our club which currently is still beyond repair. But since the fans power was shown by ousting tweedledee nd tweedledumb alot of fans seem to have gone power crazy and expect the world on a plate, if not the manager players nd owners can jog on. For me that is no attitude what so ever to have towards any manager (even Woy got a hell of a bad rap instantly, but he was never the right man for the job and was an instant scapegoat) especially Kenny Dalglish, would you do the same if it was Ian Rush, Keegan, even Robbie Fowler or in the future Carra or Gerrard. The answer to that is probably, WE as collective liverpool fans have had a torrid season but most seem to have no patience what so ever, u seem to expect we will win the league just because we are liverpool. THis may have been the case 20 years ago but we need to earn that again. For me there are probably only 3 managers in the world that can bring us back to that:
1. Dalglish - Some of the football we have played this season has been exceptional, we have torn teams apart in almost every postition, the problem has been putting the ball in the back of the net and unless Kenny was on the pitch I wouldnt blame him for that. One striker who knows how to score from 1, 6 or 20 yeards and our goal to shots rate goes through the roof.
2. Rafa - Regardless of his rants (which held a lot of thruth but were given at the wrong times) the team he put together was fantastic. His tactics were perfect 95%of the time and he loves liverpool as much as Dalglish (exactly what a Liverpool manager should do).
3. Guardiola - Dont really need to explain that one and he has already shown an appreciation of whats going on at Liverpool.
All 3 of these managers at the helm of liverpool would command the ultiamte respect from every player and member of staff. Their tactics would all fit. The difference is the players they can probably attract. But either way all 3 live and breathe football, 2 of them love Liverpool to their core and the 3rd has the potential for this also.
Within this Im not and never would call fro Dalglish's head he deserves so much more than that. I am more trying to say I wouldnt want just anybody ie Martinez, AVB, taking over at our helm.
But as I say I and most others ont understand where a minority of fans get off thinking there should be instant success, yes money has been spent but in the first season of taking over we have won a trophy and are back in europe. what did man citys owners spend and what were their achievements in their first season?

I am liverpool through and through and I understand that Dalglish is no magician and that continuous success takes a solid foundation (look at Blackburn) not just millions to go out and win the league once.

Excellent post. Says it all.

Decent post mate but where i think you are wrong and your not the only one is you havnt put yourself in fsg,s shoes.fsg are looking at the long term 10-12years,the new stadium i expect will be built long before then, but the long term veiw will be sustaining increased revenue year on year to enable fsg to sustain the expenditure/repayments of the stadium.once fsg are 10/12 years down the road and their plan has worked then they will breathe a collective sigh of relief because they will be past the critical point when the repayments of the investment will be easily managable if you where to miss out on cl football from time to time. that brings us to the short?medium term.it is absolutly essential that lfc qualifies for the cl year on year and also cut down on player expenditure and wages, this will be done by a youth accadamy/shrewd buying of up and coming unpolished diamonds and also a policy of unfortunatly selling some top players if the offer is right.problems then arise with the supporters because there team arnt winning trophies because top players are being sold and only youngsters purchased/premoted from the accadamy, weakened teams will be played in the domestic cup competitions because the league game in 3 nights time is crucial for the 3 points towards a top 4 finish which as i have already mentioned is essensial.i think you will now notice the similarities with another club that has just finished 3rd in the epl.this is where you are wrong in your thoughts of a new manager, the new manager will need to be totally selfless sacrificing his own ambition for that of the club he will also need to be used to small player budgets and dealing mainly with the youth policy for his player recruitments.the reason fsg have invested heavily in the squad was to kick start it with the quality needed to get into the top 4 then the youth policy would have kicked in to sustain this level,it hasnt worked this season so they will need to do it again this summer,it 100% has to work this time(top 4 next season)if not fsg,s plans are completly up in the air.im not going to speculate what will happen then, but one things for sure the managers you have mentioned are not the men for the job,but martinez/moyes or the athletic bilboa manager may be,someone who can opperate at a consistant level without money,is kd the man? i,ll leave that to you but one things for sure it is going to be a long hard road for a few years
im not an lfc fan but these are my views based on my own club

Martin Škrtel's agent K. Csonto in the Independent"Changes have happened at Liverpool and he wants to know what the aims and ambitions are"

who ever wants KD sacked knows nothing about football. KD came into a dying team and turned it around. he picked the best team to play, the players cant finish the ball, we could change our manager 10 times in the next 10 years and we would be nowhere. a manager needs 4 years to make a in packed on a team. KD did it in a year,

Kenny did have a big job on his hands ,and he's done ok.

Kenny is in charge of signings though , which you'll probably agree with have been s**te.

LAVERS

He spent money on absolute crap

He didn't listen no one wanted hend downing their were better players out there like mata Turan Honda some of these players wanted to come to Liverpool

Carrol as well for the price was rediculous although I do like him if you flashed 35 million in front of any team you could get one of the best strikers in the world

OP - hogwash

Gazman

Picked the best team to play? Come off it...not starting Carroll in the fa cup final...mistake.
Playing carragher when agger and skrtel have both been fit...mistake.
Constantly playing downing throughout the whole season...mistake.
I would say playing hendo and shelvey is a mistake but we really had no-one else to play there for the latter part of the season

Please someone help me!

While i would rather Daglish was given another season. If he is not can someone tell me why so many supporters want Villa Boas???

Am i missing something? To me, while he has done well abroad its a different game and have these same people forgotten how bad Chelsea were under him?

I may be wrong, truly, but would appreciate someone who wants AVB to explain why? I really may be missing something as i often do

thanks eds as always

Just my opinion but I think the older players have a big impact at Chelsea and they didn't like it when AVB was trying to phase them out. He's good because he has the balls to stand up to people. He also suggested to the fa that the top premier league clubs should be allowed a B team to play in the championship to develop young talent like they do in Spain but that idea was rejected. He has ambition. And he's brilliant with tactics the Chelsea players just didn't seem to want to play for him. I believe he would be perfect at lfc because he has the same ideas as us about bringing young talent through the system. I believe if a club was to give him the chance he could go on to acheive greater success than fergie. It was Chelsea's fault he failed not his. I would love kk to stay next season because if you get another manager now with the euros coming up and then the Olympics it wouldnt help his pre season plans so keep kenny and get AVB next summer or even maybe Christmas and give him a chance for at least 5 years unless he royally screws up. If he does good then he's young enough to do a fergie at Liverpool. At the end of the day I trust the owners and who ever ends up being manager next season will get my full support something manny of you don't know the meaning of.

I think Kenny will be on his way , FSG have been sacking everyone around him so I can't see him escaping.

FSG didn't want kenny to start with either , the fans wanted him.

FSG gave us fans what we wanted , and its not worked out.

There's definataly something a miss at Liverpool , going off a lot of performances this season.

LAVERS

The trouble is if FSG continue to give the LFC fans what they want, then they will be replacing managers every six months or so.

FSG can bring there choice in and there can't be complaints from us , seeing as it hasn't worked out with kenny.

LAVERS

Then "fans" turn on FSG if their choice cant turn things round?
viscious circle.
KD will know if its time to step aside, and probably help find his replacement, along with a DOF. KD to have embassador type role.

Kenny will be like KOFI ANNAN then?

if kennys here these will be the targets sitting on the fence just now hope he stays

steven n'zonzi 4.5m (cover for lucas/rotation a bit more quality than spearing and a lot more potential)
gary hooper 8m (fox in the box provides goals and is english he will want the move as it will give him a chance of making the england squad)
rasmus elm 6.5m (add a bit of invention in midfiled, quality player for a knockdown price AZ will sell as they won't risk losing him for free)

outs

spearing 2m (no had great season and not good enough to fill lucas leivas boots when needed)
joe cole 3m (reduce the wage bill and not needed by the club)
maxi 1m (gave us the wave at anfield sad to see him leave great squad player)
aqualani 4m (wages are far to high for how good a player he is)

Hi guys aint posted for a while because the wife gave birth recently and its has reduced the amount of free hours i have. Just want to say overall im upset at a 8th place finish i think Kenny has always tried his hardest with the club and if we had a little bit more luck in front of goal whos knows where we could have finished.I do think that the owners will make a change because the Americans i deal with in business are ruthless people. They will look at the season and think 8th place and the carling cup is no good enough for a club of our size and they are correct. I just hope they treat kenny with the respect he deserves he will always be a legend and the king but deep down i think kenny knows this season has been way under par.I hope if they do make changes they make them fast also with transfers like last summer we moved quickly to buy players. If we leave it too late we will be paying a lot more if some players have a good time in the summer championships. I also hope the fans don't turn against the owners if changes are made because they saved this club and deserve our full backing. They listen to the fans and even gave kenny the job because of the fans so lets back them and see where they take this club.

Just a quick one, if KK was to leave and be offered a position upstairs do people think he would take it? His pride will have taken a beating if he realises he hasnt cut it as manager this time around? By the way im no hater not sure what the best options are right now!

There is no shame in a man in his sixties , who has been away from top flight football for 20 years , not being able to secure Premiership points in the modern age , so I think he will take it .

For all we know , it might be his suggestion !

Just some thoughts on Dalglish.

A post here said -

"When asked if Dalglish expected to be in the Anfield hot seat next season, he replied "I expect the owners to have more dignity and integrity than to believe a story in a newspaper".

I firmly believe that Dalglish will be gone within the next 24-48 hours.

When Dalglish is sacked/let go/moved upstairs/decides a 'mutual' parting of ways over the next 24-48 hours, comments like these will be amongst the number of reasons why.

If the owners read this quote from him - which they likely will - and find it to be accurate, they will likely surmise that Dalglish is an idiot.

The manager of a multi-million pound business (especially one with well documented PR troubles) does not talk to the press like that.

Nor does he decide what constitutes integrity in regard to how his bosses conduct themselves.

So...... Dalglish has stated that if his bosses believe a newspaper story, they have no dignity or integrity??

WHAT??

He will be gone within 24-48 hours.

He is out of touch with the modern game.

Its not the football/coaching side that eludes him completely - but the scale of the job and the demands of dealing with the modern 24/7 media-world seem to be crushing his brain.

If the comment posted earlier is true - it will be added to a string of ill-advised comments by him throughout the season.

It's been a long time since he's talked about the "smiles on faces at the training ground" too....

BJH YNWA

(He'll always be the king - but he WILL go - these guys in Boston won't stand for crap like the comments mentioned - and "I never went to school so I'm not as sharp as you lot" or "We were unlucky" [or something to that effect] isn't gonna cut it either.)

The truth hurts, but this will happen.

I want my 15 seconds back please..

Another fan who has totally sold his sole to the money mans way of thinking towards the game. Unless some old values are restored to this sport of ours, it's finished.

I was surprised by this comment also. Is Kenny implying the owners make decisions based on what they believe journalists believe they have decided to do? Bizarre.

Everything points to a change coming very soon.

Good post. I really hope you're right with your assessment and KK walks off.

BJH,
You are so full of sh1t it must hurt.
Has it got to the point where managers must be like politicians. Whitened teeth, tan, smiling, spin doctors, sound bites, pictured with babies in their arms.
It's a game mate. The press ask absolutely nonsensical questions to the managers, or prod at them immediately after matches hoping for a 'Kevin Keegan' moment.
The most Press-friendly of Liverpool managers in recent times was Roy Hodgson. And he got slated for being a sycophantic, Man Utd loving, Ferguson toadie.
So wind it in will you, and just see what happens in the next few days.
The Real KB

The Real KB, unfortunately that is the modern game, like it or lump it, clubs can fight with the press or embrace the press and use it to advantage. Anyone that cant understand this should be in a managerial position. Ant that includes Kenny.

Steve

The Real KB is correct, and I do not see Arsenal or Manchester United sacking their managers because they are opinionated and sometimes do not hide their feelings during interviews.

The Real KB is spot on. Personally, I'd be exactly the same. Although Kenny had that attitude pre-'89, the dis-trust towards the press was obvious from then on (and rightly so).

Back in Jan BJH wrote:

The people criticizing Kenny atm have lost sight of the woods for the trees.

I reckon that the project is going very well. People are very reactionary in some of their comments and may have lost sight of the bigger picture - both medium term and long term.

Look at our current team.

Defensively - we are absolutely sorted. Players such as Johnson, Skrtel and Agger (who were all hounded here under Hodgson) have all improved immensely. We are sorted for the long term too, with the likes of Wilson, Coates, Robinson, Kelly and Flanagan all waiting in the wings. At LB, Enrique has been a great signing.

In terms of playing good football - We have become a very good passing side, one of the best in the league. We have controlled and dominated almost all the games we have played this season (barring Spurs and City).

That Stoke hardly had the ball on Saturday is a point worthy of praise. Under Hodgson (and Rafa's later days) we couldn't string three passes together and lumped aimless long balls to no-one in particular.

The likes of Henderson and Adam have played their part in maintaining a solid base in central midfield, playing their part in our great defensive record - and should be praised for playing their part in improving our ball retention - they make it look easy and do not get enough praise for it.

That is the good news -

I accept we have problems in terms of goalscoring. We have been unlucky in some respects, hitting the post and coming up against on-form goalkeepers hasn't helped, but these things happen.

I also accept that we have a chronic lack of pace and creativity in the attacking areas of our side, particularly in wide areas.

That Bellamy and Maxi cannot play every game does not help either. Were Bellamy capable of playing every game I am sure we would be a better side for it - Also, Downing playing on the right one week and the left the next has halted his progress imo. He need to work up an understanding with his FB and nearest striker/central midfielder to find consistency.

We also need proper competition for Downing - a natural RW/RM with pace and technical ability is obviously needed, but backup for both the left and right is also required, as the likes of Kuyt, Maxi and perhaps Bellamy will be gone within 1-2 years (or this month in some cases).
Having to put the likes of Henderson, Kuyt and Shelvey in such roles is clearly not ideal either.

That the likes of Sterling, Suso and perhaps Silva will break through in 1-2 years is a bonus, but they are not ready yet. We need players that are ready for the first team. Downing is the only winger we have, this is not good enough.

These additions need not be fantasy football signings either. Weiss wants out from Man City, dos Santos from Spurs - perhaps these could be possible? Siclair from Swansea may be ore exppensive, but has been linked. These are just some examples to show that we don't need to spend £30m to find quality, bargains exist.

Up front we have also had problems. When Suarez is injured there is no-one to compensate for the loss of his pace.

We badly need a backup striker with pace. I believe that Carroll can improve and become a good player, but ONLY if he plays with a pacey strike partner who stays in central areas alongside him - the same goes for Kuyt.

I am sure that Kenny is aware of these problems and is seeking to address them.
If we must spend big (in the region of £20m+) on two positions - I would suggest splashing out on the right-wing/midfield and someone with pace, skill, strength and an eye for goal upfront.

Although I do get the feeling that likes of Cole, Aqua, Poulson and the aforementioned older players may need to be shifted before any really 'big' money is made available.

I think it is good to see our clubs finances being properly managed in this regard. Just over a year ago there was talk of going broke - do those clamouring to spend, spend, spend really want us to do a Leeds and live beyond our means?

To all the critics -

Do you really want to undo all the positive things Kenny has done since his arrival?

Our excellent defence, our great ability to retain possession and the solidity that our midfield now offers both in central and wide areas. We have also created a lot of chances - we can improve further in this regard as I am aware, but we are a positive attack minded side. As stated earier, we have dominated the vast majority of our games this saason, just as we demanded.

I reckon that with the addition of more pace, ability and natural balance out wide, and the addition of more pace/better quality options up front (perhaps 4-5 players at the most to replace the likes of Bellamy, Maxi and Kuyt) that we can address the one remaining problem in the side. Namely - what we do with the ball in the final 3rd.

I am not prepared to just rip up all this excellent work which has addressed many of our problems. Give Kenny more time people - he needs another 1-2 years to finally build the squad he really wants.

It's not just gonna happen this January - although one or perhaps two of the 4-5 needed may arrive.

We are close to being an excellent side - start looking at the positives, once we address the few remaining negatives we can be real contenders.

BJH YNWA.

ps - The investment in youth has also been excellent, great to see a commitment to splashing the cash on the likes of Shelvey, Wison, Coates, Sterling, Ibe and others. We are building a squad that with 4-5 additions, can be sorted for years to come. The project is not yet complete, but show some patience.

pps - Sorry about the length of the post.

Would the real BJH please stand up

Gazman

I have written an equally lengthy post to describe why and when I changed my opinions on Kenny.

I still believe that our squad is good - our tactics have been shifted endlessly and inexplicably since then. Kenny has cracked under the pressure.

The investment in youth etc has been good - but Kenny has become the problem - this happened to Rafa and Houllier before the end.

Read my post again - has Kenny addressed ANY of the points I made on progressing to the next level?

The answer is a resounding NO - and by the end of January I had stated my surprise that we had not addressed these areas and also predicted we would suffer because of it.

At the time of writing we were still in top 4 contention - I found complaining to be just wrong - we were doing okay - we also had a settled system, playing quality football with a flexible 442.

That has been ripped up over and over again since.

My opinions have always been explained. I had faith that Kenny would see the glaringly obvious and improve us further - but instead he has gone backwards.

Furthermore he continues to insist that we are just unlucky - even when performances have been abysmal.

I stand by every word I said - however = Kenny's comments and actions since then have convinced me that he does not share my vision for what is clearly needed - a lot has changed since then - but not my views on what we need.

Kenny does not share those views. I said 1-2 years so Kenny can build the squad he really wants...

Since then he has stated that this is the squad he really wants.

Good digging Gazman, but I stand by what I said then and what I say now. I am capable of changing my mind.

His team selections, his PR - and unsurprisingly our results have been terrible since then. Not improving us in January has cost us big time.

BJH YNWA (Things change - Since I wrote that post we have been a disaster - ask yourself why? Dig around and you'll get a very detailed post from a couple of months back - explaining why I realized why Kenny must go.)

ps - People being negative back then were mental, we were doing well - now I'm just glad the season has ended - we were slipping into free-fall. We've gained around 15 points since Jan I'd say. We must be amongst the worst teams in the league based on form since then.

If you listened to Kenny everything seems just dandy though!

I changed my mind as soon as top 4 looked out of reach and I was castigated for it.

Ultimately Dalglish is and always will be a Liverpool legend but tactically he has been a disaster. I like some of the pretty football we have played but I'd rather us win ugly and move forward. It is naive to think that other clubs don't know exactly how to play it when they come to Anfield - it's basic counter attacking football and more often than not it has worked for them.

Ultimately we all want the best for Lfc and it doesn't matter what any fan thinks. A good manager knows how to win, where to defend and where to attack. I think that a good manager plays exactly to his strengths and I hope that whoever replaces Kenny if he does go has that in his locker.

Nice words Gazman. I agree totally.

I hope it's a good summer.

Hi Eds?
Without CL football next season, these signings could improve us for sure.

Luuk DE JONG.(£12.5m).
Rasmus ELM.(£7m).
Younes BELHANDA.(£15m).
Gaston RAMIREZ.(£16.5m).
Mohamed DIAM.(free).

I would be happy if that was our transfer window. The would all come staright into the starting side, bar Diame, IMO.

Steve

just seen pardews interview on sky sports in relation to newcastles summer transfer plans; straight-forward, honest answers, he basically said they will definitely be bringin in 2 or 3 players in order to build upon their current team. I really don't understand the hostility and dryness that kenny displays towards journalists and interviewers, if I didn't follow football and was just seeing him for the first time I would honestly think "what a d*ck"
He doesn't do himself any favours giving the same excuses every week either, and even in defeat he acts surprised and disgusted when asked about the result

I think he sees the media for what it is.

It's a self-fulling prophecy, isn't it? If you think the media is out to get you, you will make it happen.

The media is based in the South, and favor United and the London clubs. So what? Our fan base is global. We need modern day media management, "chip-on-our shoulder" attitudes. We should be bigger than that.

Skrtle: "Thank you very much to everybody who voted for me. I will try to do my best NEXT season as well and we'll see how I go on."
So can we put the rumour about him leaving to bed right now then, Good news!
Think optimistic Reds!
Next season will be one hell of a season with Luuk De Jong signing and a couple of lads from spain also Aqualani wants a perminant move away or a perminant stay at liverpool either way he's fed up with being here there and everywhere!
Posivitly Red! Woop!

Evening all, i feel this may be a long whinded post and im not sure where im going with it, so be warned...

Basically its about kenny, and a few, un biased points to protect him.

At the start of kennys new reign, you see his interview with lftv, and he looks fantastic. Almost less than the age of 61, however, now after a year in the life of a premiership manager, he looks so drained..

It is alot of hard work, with the press, newspapers, tv shows, interviews, for a 61 year old man, and alot different to when he was in charge before. Not only is the world watching every move he makes, but he has the team and millions of the greatest, and high expecting fans, on his shoulders.

Shankly said when your in the kop, your part of a society....a family.

Sure, we all fall out with out family, and can get really pi55ed of with them, i.e my brother does my head in lol but we still come together and travel up to watch games and if he or any family members are in trouble, we would always run to their aid. Liverpool fc is a family of millions of people, its what makes us the greatest club in the world.

We should be the ones looking after our Kenny, defending him from ridic news stories etc, not joining in and hating on him. Make your points about how he may not be able to do the managerial role, but dont get vicious about it?

Our 2 best midfielders, Gerrard + Lucas, 1 out for first 6 months, the other for the next 6 months. Its going to dampen progress.

Our best attacker, out for 8 games, rough estimate of 20% of the season. Our second best forward, had extremely poor fitness for first 9 months of season, due to a tear in his thigh when we bought him. Glen johnson, 2 injury spells, Did agger break his rib twice this season too? Bellamy a great player is limited as he has osgoodslatus in his knees?

A lot has gone against us this season, a hell of a lot. But i believe we are playing our best football in years, we have the best squad harmony i can remember.

We are all a drop, on our own we are nothing, together we are an ocean, the biggest ocean in the world!

Effort to read, but if you did i would love your views, you too eds.....?

Spot on mate nothing more I can say.

The job is beyond him. This is not a knock.

The job was beyond Hodgson. It was beyond Houllier. It was beyond Evans. Of recent managers, only Rafa seemed to come to terms with it.

You really need someone special to succeed at this job. A football coach who is also an empire builder. Very hard to find. United found one. Now we need to.

All those who wish Kenny well should hope he steps aside, and enjoys the fruits of his labors, rather than go through this ordeal.

Nice 1 Ben

Phooey

I wish the '' not a knock '' poster had signed his post , he is absolutely spot on , anyone with any respect for Dalglish will want him to step aside at this time .

Personally I wouldn't be too upset if th summer went like this
Ins
Dempsey - relatively cheap prem experience to help the young lads like Henderson and Shelvey and quality as well. And can play wide or off the frontman.
Luke De Jong - quality addition strong, good finisher and brilliant work ethic
Soldado - natural finisher, could add the end product we need
A CM - in an ideal world I would sign Alonso but we don't live an ideal world so someone who can move the ball around the park, moving the ball across the middle and not panicking. Someone to compliment Lucas but allow Gerrard the freedom to express himself (when he plays)
A RB - Isla would be great addition but his injury makes it complicated.
Muniain - dream signing this kid is direct, pacey and full of tekkerz.
Outs
Suarez - no one wants it to happen but if an offer around £30m comes in that makes sense. Caused a big furor and although brilliant can understand why they would
Johnson
Spearing
Kuyt
Maxi
Aquialani
J.Cole
Not too unrealistic I think, although would involve another overhaul would tick all the boxes. We would be left with a squad of players that have ability, a mix of youth and experience, pace and options. There's natural goalscorers, playmakers, ball winners, direct players and a solid defence.

Would love to hear some opines

We won the Carling Cup on penalties against Cardiff. Cardiff !
Dalglish's management record is ancient history. His head is stuck in the 1980's. He has spent a fortune on average players.
Yet you blindly support him.
If I were FSG, he would be gone tomorrow.
You seem happy with mediocrity and nostalgia.
FSG appear clueless.
Liverpool will be lucky to win a tombola.

Youre right, fsg are clueless. Just a multi million pound company in many leading sport franchises across the world. They won the red sox theyre first title for 60 odd years is it? yep definatly clueless.

Ben the red

There's a lot of teams in England that didn't win a trophy at all this season!

We support him not just because of his past. I'm too young to remember that anyway. But because he is our manager. Who ever is apart of this great club has my full support until they give me a reason not to. He deserves one more year at least. He's set the foundations now let him buil something descent to leave to a new manager when the time is right. There's no point supporting us when we're winning if you won't support when we're losing.

Eric the red

You open your post mentioning Liverpool winning the Carling cup, then you end your post with Liverpool would be lucky to win a tombola?

Perhaps it is not FSG who is clueless?

Tommy Walsh

United lost to Palace who lost to Cardiff.

Hi ed's just a thing about skrtel and the man city rumour, they usually get their man! Ans we don't keep players who don't want to be here! Dalglish has always shown a liking for micah richards! Let's do a deal micah/adam johnson for skrtel, or even milner and adam johnson for skrtel! If skrtel wants out, play hard ball, for gods sake we have been suckered in the past! Carroll-£35m, downing-£20m! If there isn't much kitty, play around! Moyes has done it for years! Y..N..W..A jft9f DHH L20 KOPITe!

Heard stevie nichol has a connection with the owners! Wonder if he could have a role at us? He was new england coach for years! I think when dempsey was there! Good luck to glen johnson (especially),Stuey downing, stevie g, and big andy carroll in getting selected in englands euro squad! And just hope roy holds no grudges, hence the especially johnson (had some sort a problem at lfc). Martin kelly, jordan hendersons and jonjo shelveys time will come, and raheem sterling, andre wisdom, conor coady, flanno and robbos time will come
(fingers crossand god willing) and not to forget adam morgan and my personal favourite michael ngoo (this lad could be anything)! Thanks ED's and fellow RED's Y..N..W..A jft96!

Era I am sorry to say but while we have supporters that dwell on our past we will never move forward. Yes we have a great history but it is history. I have had the pleasure of seeing kk play and he was my favourite player as a kid. But fans need to separate the legend from the manager. He has bought bad players who have consistently played poorly and he has hardly dropped them. He couldn't install confidence in the players when they clearly lact it. And he couldn't turn round a horrific run of home form that has made fortress anfield a distant memory. His interviews are embarrasing and the Suarez affair was cringe worthy. Yet fans what him to stay cos he loves Liverpool? Well so do I and I'd probably made a better fist of it. The same fans who live in the past want every ex player back and would only trade kk for an ex manager or someone with a Liverpool link. Dave

Dave,
To be honest, and I could be wrong of course, but I would have thought that the majority of people asking for Alonso and/or Torres and/or Rafa are in fact
on the younger end of the scale and are not the ones living in the past. Standing by someone like Kenny or whoever the manager is and appreciating the benefits of stability, are principles, not living in the past.

reckon we're after another left back with Fabio leaving and Robinson likely to go on loan? Or are we going to use Glenj as backup giving more space for Kelly and Flanno to come through right back? Personally i'd take Martin Olsson and let him and Jose have it out for left back.
