Guys/ eds, with recent news coverage about managers stating they would like up to another two subs per game do you think they could look at this? I think we should allow it but these extra two places should be for home grown players under 21. This will allow younger home grown players time and experience which should aid our national team.

Baz.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

16 Dec 2016 00:05:20
I'm torn with the idea tbh Baz, I like what your saying about giving the youth players more or a chance and more game time but do you think this could give the "big" teams with more money an advantage over opponents with less depth in their squad? Not for me I feel.

16 Dec 2016 10:35:13
What about five substitute but the extra two if used needs to be u21? Means teams can't abuse it and youth gets to come through. just a thought.

16 Dec 2016 11:48:44
I would prefer to just see an unlimited bench size so that managers don't have to choose between an experienced bench to help influence a game and young players to get them game time when the match is secure of just needs a burst of energy.

16 Dec 2016 19:33:42
I think that players like Woodburn making the bench are great for the club but I was at the Boro game to see him warming up, we had a commanding lead being 3-0 up yet he didn't get a chance. This must really hinder their progress when we are comfortable. This was my thinking that an extra two subs, who are home grown players would give managers more incentive to give the youngsters a run out.

Baz.

17 Dec 2016 01:43:54
I think Woodburn is the real deal.

He is just naturally always in the right position and processes the ball rapidly.

I know this sounds premature and niave but the lad reminds me of kenny in his style of play.
I don't think he can not inluded and at least on the bench
He is quality.
And thank God a red.

15 Dec 2016 21:32:51
My youngest daughter is 18. If she was a boy she would be named Oyvind. Which Liverpool players would you name your kids after.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Dec 2016 21:54:52
If I had a boy he'd be named Luis. A girl would be named Sami.

{Ed025's Note - if i had a lemon..i would call it karius.. :)

15 Dec 2016 22:15:01
In other news

It's raining in ireland and Michael Owen says silly things 🤔.

15 Dec 2016 22:48:52
Kenny Keague.

15 Dec 2016 23:08:10
Boy - Kevin
Girl - Keegan.

16 Dec 2016 05:19:06
I'm a big fan of the club but I would never name my child after a player, doesn't appeal to me at all.

16 Dec 2016 00:16:26
Will give my daughter a Latin name, firminha.

16 Dec 2016 07:02:57
I wouldn't give ". Klopp couldn't do wrong " Boy or girl doesn't matter.

16 Dec 2016 08:27:57
Thought you would have named your boy kovacic harry.

16 Dec 2016 09:55:02
Or Mane for a girl.

16 Dec 2016 10:53:09
Good shout Slow dog :)

15 Dec 2016 20:38:16
Great performance last night. Moving on to Monday I hope klopp sticks to the same back five. Probably the same team even if can is fit. What's your opinion fellow reds?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

15 Dec 2016 21:41:37
No way. If Matip is fit he plays.

16 Dec 2016 15:12:43
Matip plays, end of.

15 Dec 2016 19:36:20
Hi all. What I noticed best of all from last night's game was when the team where 3 up they didn't go all out for the 4,5 or 6 goal. Yes they kept the pressure on but I thought they were sensible in possession.

16 Dec 2016 15:17:00
Barry, This is what Klopp admitted to before the game. He said we had lacked balance in the Bournmouth game as with 15 mins left, we had 7 players in the opposition`s half and that`s not the right thing to do. He rectified it in the Boro game as you have observed and that to me, is the biggest improvement as we all know that scoring goals is not the issue. It is finding the right balance btw attack and defence late in games we are leading in by 2-3 goals. Sometimes, you have to reel yourself in, control possession and pick your spots when leading late in a game instead of trying to run up the score when you don`t have to. Hopefully, we will improve in this area which to be fair, we were good at earlier in the season vs Chelsea, Arsenal and LC.

15 Dec 2016 19:22:11
Hi guys,

I'm just wondering what is the best way to go about buying tickets to a home game? I'm hoping to go to one in the coming months. I'm not a member of anything. But I've heard buying a membership gives you cheaper ticket options? Thing is I'll probably only be able to go to one game, so is the membership fee worth it for the sake of a one off game? Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

15 Dec 2016 19:54:34
Tickets do go to general sale - Sometimes, you need to keep an eye on the website.

It also depends on the opposition and when the game is being played, there tends to be more opportunities for a Monday night/ Mid week game.

If you buy a membership, it not only enhances your chances of buying a ticket but gives you the opportunity to record games ( on your membership) that will again help you next season if you want to attend a game.

Hope that helps.

15 Dec 2016 20:11:35
Thanks for the reply. I moved to the UK about 8 months ago but will not be staying for much longer. This is why I'm wondering if it makes sense to get a membership if realistically I'll only get to use the match ticket benefits once (maybe twice if I'm very lucky! )? I'm looking at the spurs game on 11th Feb at the minute. Probably be tough to get a ticket to that one. But because it is a once off occasion I'm definitely open to considering the hospitality packages the Liverpool Fc website provide. Anybody know if these are worth it, and which package is the best?

15 Dec 2016 20:22:47
Maybe not worth buying a membership then.
Hospitality is a good option, not cheap though.

16 Dec 2016 08:13:32
Very difficult to get one unless you have some contacts with in the club or stadium. Try away matches. Membership is a decent option but there are infite members out there. You will have to a atleast 3 months in advance to get one.

15 Dec 2016 18:37:38
I hope Klopp reminds Henderson not to get any yellow cards in the next two games (the Stoke game particularly) . He's playing with 4 already and he's needed against the Mancs.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

15 Dec 2016 19:26:44
I thought he had already served a 1 match ban for getting 5 yellow cards. I may be wrong mind you.

15 Dec 2016 19:48:21
One against Everton wouldn't be the worst thing, we should really beat Stoke at home without him. I hope so anyway I've got a ticket for that game!

15 Dec 2016 20:49:40
He served a ban already hasn't he?

15 Dec 2016 21:00:35
If you get 10 yellow cards before a date what I can't remember you miss 2 games.

15 Dec 2016 21:32:23
he has already had 5 (think he on 6 now) he missed the Leeds game in the efl cup which he wasn't going to play in anyways me thinks. so a tactical yellow in previous game me thinks.

15 Dec 2016 23:11:21
No Liverpool player is currently on 4 yellows. Once you get 5 you serve a one match ban. If you get 10 in a season you serve another 2 match ban.

16 Dec 2016 15:19:22
He already missed the Leeds game so he`s fine.

15 Dec 2016 17:36:59
Eds. I know your opinions on journos and rags is pretty lowcbut what's your thoughts on Paul Joyce please? Credible?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no idea, I don't really know his work.}

15 Dec 2016 17:54:00
Ok mate. Reading ge has said we will go for Pulisic in Jan that's all? Ed002 has explained his thoughts I know but didn't know what this guy is about.

{Ed001's Note - I would take no notice personally, that's why I have no idea what he is like, I ignore them all now.}

15 Dec 2016 18:07:30
Ok mate. Fair enough.

Cheers for replys 👍.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate. Just remember they get paid to give out stories, so the temptation to 'embellish' the facts must be huge. They aren't going to earn a living by telling you nothing is happening. It is no longer a world that runs on honesty and truth sadly.}

15 Dec 2016 18:35:03
Cheers mate 👍.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

16 Dec 2016 15:20:25
Welcome to Trump`s America, Ed.

15 Dec 2016 16:28:43
Ed001. I'm in granada and got a very good stream on vip league last night despite torrential rain. Might be worth a try.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - this is a little village in the middle of nowhere, the signal comes via satellite and the torrential rain kills it. They are apparently fitting fibre optic cable here at some point in the next year, but it could be any time within the next ten as it is a Spanish company. Every thing is manana.}

15 Dec 2016 14:39:29
PutneyRed, Klopp, by playing Mignolet last night, did not bow to media pressure but to that of common sense.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

15 Dec 2016 16:58:28
Did Klopp tell you that, LH9?

15 Dec 2016 23:57:23
I have to admit I got that one wrong, I expected him to stick with Karius. It's nice to have an unpredictable manger though :)

16 Dec 2016 10:39:30
surely he did bow to pressure, the media were calling for him to drop karius which he did.

15 Dec 2016 13:13:44
Should I worry that I am yet to see Liverpool win this season

Games I have watched are, Burnley, Tottenham, Utd, Saints, Bournemouth and West Ham.

I want to watch but feel like I am Jinxing the club. Its got beyond a joke : (

15 Dec 2016 13:28:40
I am really worried for you, Cara.

15 Dec 2016 13:44:09
Sorry carra no more football for you! Actually watch chelsea and see if you have the same effect on them ;)

15 Dec 2016 13:46:11
I guess you should stay miles away from matches Carra 😎.

15 Dec 2016 14:42:41
Please don't watch anymore mate.

15 Dec 2016 15:17:11
Perhaps watch them on replay? I was actually doing this for a while ever since Man City - Liverpool turned out 1-4 last year, but then the series stopped.

15 Dec 2016 16:51:03
It's clear now carra. The next time we lose or draw, I am blaming it onto you mate 😋.

15 Dec 2016 19:14:43
Carra I really don't know how to say this but yes it is all your fault. So just stay away mate, no hard feelings😋.

15 Dec 2016 19:26:16
Strange, I missed the Bournemouth, west ham, burnley and United games only. I managed to watch this week and we are back to winning ways :)

15 Dec 2016 22:09:09
I will not watch us again until we lose without me watching.
The sad thing is I switched on the Bournemouth game at 3-1 up!
Everyone raves about our football this season but I am yet to see it lol.

{Ed025's Note - please watch on monday mate.. :)

16 Dec 2016 02:46:19
Don't be silly lad. Watch and enjoy the derby👌 🍀🍀🍀 have some irish luck and remember superstitions are not real. 😅.

15 Dec 2016 12:48:15
Just an observation on Lallana's running.

For our first goal yesterday he started the move just inside the 'Boro half by laying the ball to Mané who then spread it wide to Clyne. He then charges the full distance to finish the move in the 6 yard area. His second goal was not too dissimilar.

There is one thing running around like a headless chicken but what i'm loving is that his running has a purpose and is so effective.

Loving it!

15 Dec 2016 12:36:52
Very sweek 😁

Nice one Barry, have a great Christmas mate. YNWA.

15 Dec 2016 13:09:45
Thank you Ed2.

Merry Christmas to all. Stay safe.

15 Dec 2016 13:29:13
Happy Holidays to all the Ed`s. You guys are awesome!

15 Dec 2016 11:52:38
Excellent performance by the team last night. Every one played really well especially klavan and lallana.
Just a question to the regular posters and Ed001 if he can help.
Noticed yesterday and a few other days while tracking a player back Henderson gets outpaced by many a players nowadays. Remember watching us in 2014 he used to be so quick and so good at shielding opponents. You reckon he has lost a yard of pace due to his foot injury issue or am I just imagining things?

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - I don't think so, I think you were just noticing him against Adama Traore, who is one of the quickest players in the world.}

15 Dec 2016 13:31:54
Hendo has more pace than many players in his position. he has more pace than Dier, Wanyama, Fernandinho, Carrick, the lot. Players like Zaha, Sterling or to me, the fastest player in the PL in Adama Traore, going past him doesn`t change that.

15 Dec 2016 13:32:45
Maybe you are right Ed. By the way are Can, Matip and Sturridge expected to be fit for the derby on Monday?
Or is it more of a wait and watch scenario.

{Ed001's Note - too early to be sure, though Can is expected to be fit.}

15 Dec 2016 14:04:11
Traore. My God, what a speedster. But no signs of any particular footballing skills. No wonder Barcelona let him go. If there was a manager out there that could polish up this raw, rough diamond, they'd have a gem on their hands.

15 Dec 2016 14:23:50
Adama Traore physically has to be on of the best in league, stacked like a beast and runs like mane, I'm sure BR would love to sign him based on his physique ;)

15 Dec 2016 14:48:29
Reportedly, his attitude stinks as well so Good luck with the coach trying to help him improve.

15 Dec 2016 15:27:12
Not as fast as Zoom 😄.

15 Dec 2016 16:05:19
No he is a speedster of sorts but not even a nice pumping of velocity 9 would put on terms with me the fastest man alive.

15 Dec 2016 17:28:14
Aren't you dead?

15 Dec 2016 18:58:33
You fool I've been tasked with being the guardian of the speed force. "That youngster Barry Allen may well have defeated me (those time wraiths took me bleeding face off near enough (well they did take my face off (but that's by the by) and I've been evaporated into the speed force (though my spirit still lives on (in many ways (though in many ways it does not) ) but I'll be back to challenge the foolish speedster soon enough. Oh yes oh yes this zolomon boy will.

15 Dec 2016 08:44:52
Is ours the only club where we change goalkeepers and actually get a clean sheet and everyone moans?, we won 3-0 did I miss something?
If you listen to Klopp after the game then his reasons for swapping Karius for Migs were justified, I personally think the lad has had undue hassle in the media and people deal with things in different ways, now i'm an ex goalkeeper and I like to think I understand them a wee bit and one thing I do know is players improve, in particular goalkeepers at different timescales to other players, some take a few years and some added maturity to become quality goalkeepers, look how Friedel looked when we had him, awful, he went on later in his career and looked great,
My main point being Karius time will come and whose to know if Migs isn't too going to improve and prove us all wrong? In honesty I don't see it but i'm not ruling it out either, what I do know is that in this instance rightly or wrongly the gaffers made a decision that he thinks will help the lad long term, i'm happy with that.
By the way we won 3-0, cheer up ;-)
YNWA.

15 Dec 2016 09:35:50
Great post Richie.
I agree 100% with you.
The important question is that for a club like Liverpool FC. Surely the first team keeper should be ofr the same standard as Lloris, curtois or degea.
Klopp is on the right track with giving each keeper a run of games but if the standard drops then there is an option waiting ready for his next chance.
It will hopefully keep them on their toes which is literally quite important for a goal keeper.

15 Dec 2016 10:21:43
Exactly dermot that was the whole point of keeping mignolet anyway, for the two of them to compete against each other.

15 Dec 2016 11:07:23
I don't know now if people have been moaning that much after the game.

15 Dec 2016 11:07:30
*know.

15 Dec 2016 11:27:24
I haven't got a problem with klopps decision, I just think he chose the wrong game. Middlesbrough were never gunna give us to many worries and with the game not being televised in the uk that would have taken a lot of pressure of Karius anyway.

15 Dec 2016 11:34:35
The more competitive the squad in all positions the better the results will be.

Thank God we now have a manager strong enough to implement this.

Eg. Sturridge is going to have to go some to get ahead of Origi if he ever gets back to full fitness.

i hope the squad uses the past 2 draws as a positve wake up call as overall we are going great.

But none of them now can be in doubt that if standards drop so will they be ddropped.

15 Dec 2016 13:45:28
Personally, I don`t care who plays provided we win and we did and I`m happy. However, I will continue to maintain that Karius was singled out for blame for our results and unfairly targeted by the media and the "pundits" for diverse reasons. With Karius in goal, we conceded 5 in 7 games. he got NO credit for any of that but got all the blame when we collectively messed up. That is dishonest, IMO. The saves Migs made last night were of the type Karius made in that span as in, routine saves BUT people focused on his miscuing a kick into a corner, or him not catching instead of punching all him being nervy, something Migs was slated for 3 years up until yesterday.

It`s as if people were rooting for him to fail and the media were waiting for him to fail so they can criticize Klopp because well, there`s nothing to criticize him for because we were on a roll. If you watch the WH and Bournmouth games closely, there is a lot of blame to go around as to why we lost or drew those games and Karius did make his mistakes but he was hung out to dry by his teammates especially in the Bournmouth game.

Even Klopp took responsibility for his own mistakes, saying that we did not have the right balance during those games of attacking and defending, something he rectified last night at Boro. Kaarius will be fine, IMO but to blame a new, young player for all our ills is dishonest, myopic and disingenuous.

15 Dec 2016 18:43:27
I was never for bringing Migs back but he did well. Imagine how different the game could have been if Fischer had scored at the near post to make it 1-1. They would've got their tails up and we would have got nervous (see Bournemouth and West Ham games) and chances are Karius would've let that in based on recent form. I firmly believe that had Karius saved the second goal against Bournemouth and Payets free kick we'd have won both those games and would now be sitting a point behind Chelsea. Goals change games and so do saves so well done Migs now you just have to show us you can be consistent.

15 Dec 2016 18:57:23
Hamilton you're missing the point. If Karius makes a routine save for Bournemouth's second and West Ham's first then what happened after that doesn't happen. Therefore he is to blame. I'm not saying the rest of the team shouldn't be mentally stronger than to allow themselves to be overrun and Matip shouldn't deal with the deflected pass but Karius' errors started the rot and gave the opposition encouragement. Like it or not it's the truth. I've no doubt he will grow in to a great keeper and I'll give him time but we can't continue to concede goals from soft shots like that it undermines all of the great work the team does. If Klopp thought there was a chance he may do that again then dropping him was absolutely the right choice.

15 Dec 2016 08:22:23
ed001, do you think I'd be correct in drawing similarities between Lallana's current role and Lampard's typical role at Chelsea?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - no Lampard never did the running with the ball that Lallana does. He fetched and carried in the midfield, then looked to break onto things in and around the box, shooting quickly, so the defenders and keeper had no time to set themselves. I can't remember ever seeing Lallana hit a shot from the edge of the box, he is always looking to work it inside. We are playing far more like Arsenal than Chelsea, the way Wenger's teams always look to get in the box and score the perfect goal is similar to us right now.}

15 Dec 2016 09:59:29
Well I'm arguing with this Liverpool fan over whether not Lallana is truly being used as a centre mid. His argument is he is still an attacking mid, and centre mid merely by label, because heat maps say he spends most of his time in the opp' final third.

So I pointed out that: a) since Liverpool spend most of their time in the opp' half, it's hard for Lallana to disappear himself from the final third, and b) Lallana doesn't only just occupy AM zones on the pitch - he runs everywhere, and is very involved defensively. I then additionally pointed out that he's similar to Lampard in that like Lampard, he goes forward a lot as a CM and puts himself into goalscoring positions in the box. Of course they have their big differences like you pointed out, but in terms of the volume of attacking involvement high up the pitch, they are both similar as CMs.

{Ed001's Note - ah got you, in that respect yes, they occupy a similar position in the pitch, but they do play their role differently. Though Lampard only really played like that after they got Makalele behind him, before then he had to play deeper.}

15 Dec 2016 10:25:52
What's your take on Lamps as a whole Ed? Curious.

{Ed001's Note - good player who made himself into a great Chelsea player by making the absolute most of his talents. He wasn't the best at any area of the game naturally, he earned his ability through graft and I admire him for it. As a youngster he was in a few scrapes but he sorted his head out, settled down and became a top player. He would do things like nap after training, to allow his body to recover, while too many other players are busy playing games, down the casino or pub etc. He became a dedicated pro and that is why he is still going strong now. He was also able to realise how to utilise his talents. He knew he had a good accurate shot on him, so he would take shots a lot. The thing he did differently to most was not to take too many touches to allow defenders time to react and the goalkeeper to prepare and get a view.}

15 Dec 2016 10:49:07
Cheers Ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

15 Dec 2016 11:23:22
Lampard is one of those player who has achieved everything by sheer hard work. I see the same Lampard in Henderson.

15 Dec 2016 11:24:12
Lampard became a great player mostly because he is a very smart person. Apparently he has a genius-level IQ, or if not, very close to it.

15 Dec 2016 14:50:33
Great player but still going strong? Lol no.

15 Dec 2016 02:01:49
care for a match review ed001? couldn't watch the game yesterday, as i was caught up with work.

happy with the win, well done to the team.

{Ed001's Note - no mate, I had to watch it on a crap stream as it was not being shown here in Spain. Thankfully I am not here much longer, as I can't cope without being able to watch properly!!}

15 Dec 2016 06:47:12
Where to next Ed1?

{Ed001's Note - I am going back to Dubai in the New Year. At least there I can watch all the football and don't have to get up ridiculously early to cover the gaps in the editing times. Plus I have a new project I was intending to work on that I can do there properly. It is better for my health to have the sea air as well, here it is so dry it is not good. Oh and they all speak English there, as my Spanish is appallingly bad.}

15 Dec 2016 07:11:50
Brilliant Ed. See you soon there mate. I have a travel scheduled close to next Easter.

{Ed001's Note - did I say Dubai? I meant Doha......honest..... ;-)

15 Dec 2016 08:07:54
ahh, its alright ed001, all the best mate.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, sorry about that. I even paid for a subscription stream for a bit, to see it properly, but the net is so bad I gave that up as it would just buffer for ages. It was like watching someone make one of those claymation films. Everyone making a little movement, then it would freeze, before another movement, then freeze, and so on.}

15 Dec 2016 08:27:08
It's a hard life eh Ed;)

{Ed001's Note - it is when you don't like a place mate. It has not helped with my health like Dubai did, hence the return so quickly. Plus I am still sulking about not being able to watch the game. It is ok when they are covering us, but they only show a couple of games here from the Prem, so it is crap when we aren't chosen. Also it has not been easy to get an in with the local professional clubs, as my Spanish is so bad, whereas in Dubai I had made a lot of contacts. I want the help of some professional clubs to put together some videos I am working on, difficult to explain through a translator. In Dubai the clubs are much more open and welcoming, they all speak English and so I can work with them to put together the footage I need.}

15 Dec 2016 09:06:37
Can you not use mobdro Ed1?

{Ed001's Note - yes, but it does not always work because of the net here being so slow.}

15 Dec 2016 11:33:19
Ed001 what exactly is your occupation? If you don't mind me asking😉.

{Ed001's Note - this is my occupation.}

15 Dec 2016 13:50:57
Sounds like you need a new internet provider! I get decent enough net speed in Malaga, and there are more than enough english speaking people round these parts haha, all the best mate.

{Ed001's Note - I am not in Malaga mate. Did you enjoy the snow?}

15 Dec 2016 14:56:27

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, I am going back there as it is easier to work there, plus cheaper to live.}

Eds what are your thoughts on the yellow kit? It struck me tonight that with the bright yellow it's much easier for the linesman to see if we are fractionally offside so we just won't get away with the close ones.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I think it is more difficult to see, as it hurts the eyes and it distorts due to the brightness. I very much doubt it makes it easier for the linesman, as it will get confused with steward jackets.}

Fair point I guess, cheers Ed.

{Ed001's Note - I would like us to never use it again personally.}

It's no worse than Barcelona's tequila sunrise kits, or Chelseas toxic yellow kits. It's meant to be a third kit and as a third kit it does its job - it'll always be a useable, distinct option.

{Ed001's Note - but we have no need of it, the away black kit would have been fine.}

We actually play in our yellow third kit more than the black second kit.

care for a match review ed001? couldn't watch the game yesterday, as i was caught up with work.

happy with the win, well done to the team.

{Ed001's Note - no mate, I had to watch it on a crap stream as it was not being shown here in Spain. Thankfully I am not here much longer, as I can't cope without being able to watch properly!!}

Anyone else thinking Origi is good enough to make the No.9 shirt and a starting position up front his own? His decisions are a little off sometimes but his ability already at a young age is impressive and potential to be a great all round striker is massive. Love watching him playing well currently!

he waited for his chance, and boy did he take it.

He has the potential to be good enough, no doubt. I still think he looks very raw at times and, as you say, makes some poor decisions. He does have an excellent skillset though and all the tools to be a top player - the next year or so will really make or break the lad - the early signs are good though. The derby is the real test - can he perform under extreme pressure? We shall see.

I wouldn't want to push Firmino out wide for any player even Messi let alone Origi. Nothing wrong or against Origi but we have to play both together high up.

15 Dec 2016 08:29:04
We looked better once origi and firmino switched positions last night.

Its like any position.
Work hard In training, wait for your chance, when it comes grab it with both hands knowing there's a few un happy team mates ready and waiting to take your place if you don't do well.

Great management.

Origi scored in the last derby so he knows what the pressures of a derby looks and feels like. The boy although raw, has it ALL and he is the future of LFC at the CF position, period, end of story. A young and raw Robert Lewandowski, came to Dortmund at 21 and after biding his time and under Klopp`s tutelage, we know what he has become. I see the same thing in Origi and I`m confident that by the time Klopp is done with him, he can be another Lewa because he is that brilliant and I`m not sure Lewa was this good at 21.
