Hey
Still buzzing from yesterday result, what an amazing match!
This is off the topic, but it's for an university assignment, I need to find a scripted interview etc, I was wondering if Klopps first press conference or interview would have been scripted?
Thanks for any help.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - They are not scripted, however what is said is recorded as a script.}

15 Apr 2016 23:39:09
So it is not spontaneous then?
Could you give me any suggestions of things related to football that are scripted? Much appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - I think you are struggling with what the terms mean.}

16 Apr 2016 02:10:34
Scripted interview = written before the interview with pre-prepared Q&A

Recorded as script = a spontaneous interview written up after the interview has happened

Better check which one you need, I suspect it's the former.

16 Apr 2016 04:18:59
BR post match interview definetely scripted.

15 Apr 2016 23:54:10
Sorry ed, I meant that I'm looking for something that is scripted and so isn't spontaneous.

{Ed002's Note - You won't find that for any of Klopp's interviews or press conferences.}

16 Apr 2016 11:00:15
Might find a statement from the club but interviews are not "scripted" as others have suggested.

15 Apr 2016 22:34:45
Wolves fan come in peace. Having seen today the last Hillsborough service to be held at Anfield can I just say well done to Liverpool football club and its supporters for the incredible solidarity you have all shown through the struggle for truth and justice. I am sure that the families, friends, supporters, players and staff present on that day have all been thankful for the huge sense of community shown on merseyside.
It struck me last year on a visit to Borussia Dortmund how similar the clubs were in terms of the bond with fans and feeling of indifference from the rest of the country and what occurred last night between supporters was special.
Well done to all of you. If only Manchester and London could act with the same spirit and humility I really would be proud of our premier league!
Congrats.

15 Apr 2016 23:24:05
Wolves fans are always welcome here anytime and thank you.

16 Apr 2016 00:47:50
I know it's gets mentioned from time to time but whoever disagreed to this is a complete prat. Sorry to the eds if u don't feel this appropriate, I know you don't encourage arguments to start but the sentiment in that message couldn't be disagreed with.

16 Apr 2016 03:26:15
Can't believe some dimwits have actually disagreed with this post. Despicable people.

16 Apr 2016 04:12:53
Who's disagreeing with this, for heaven sake.

16 Apr 2016 06:21:55
There are a bunch of trolls on this site who I suspect disagree with almost anything - even simple questions seem to get 3-5 disagrees.

I suspect they might be non-liverpool supporters who come on to see if there's anything interesting to niggle about. Ignore them.

16 Apr 2016 08:48:52
I think we should remove the disagree buttons, they seem to cause more harm than good.

16 Apr 2016 09:47:05
No need to remove it, it serves a purpose. Just ignore the first three disagrees.

16 Apr 2016 11:12:02
I'd rather the buttons went and if anyone disagrees with the post they can do so with actually writing why they disagree with it.

15 Apr 2016 20:44:29
Ed01 or 2. Quick question if I may. Great win last night, atmosphere amazing.
Just would like to know why Liverpool have to down the banners and flags on the Kop when the game kicks off but Dortmund ect are allowed to keep flying theirs through the game?
Cheers in advance.

Believable2 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - Traditionally all large banners come down for people to see. If Dortmund were allowed to wayve them throughout the game it wikll be no more than yet another conspiracy by the FA against Liverpool. Perhaps Chelsea's fault.}

15 Apr 2016 22:03:55
I thought Chelsea were at fault for Dortmunds first goal no?

15 Apr 2016 22:16:12
no FA conspiracy. all Chelsea's fault. lol.

16 Apr 2016 02:11:36
I swear I saw Mourinho in the Dortmund section.

15 Apr 2016 23:52:24
The only thing that's Chelsea's fault is how average they've become despite throwing the gdp of a small country at it.

16 Apr 2016 01:33:16
Now I think about it Dortmunds third goal was Chelsea's fault also because they didn't buy Reus. Conspiracy or not everything negative about Liverpool FC is Chelsea's fault.

16 Apr 2016 02:06:50
Chelsea who? Oh one time buyers off the cl.

Bring them up on here when you have won it five times.

16 Apr 2016 06:25:28
There's a fine line between banter and misplaced arrogance - we've hardly knocked to socks off European football in last 10 years mate (until Klopp arrived and last night happened) - and all the major clubs spend big to compete.

16 Apr 2016 06:32:10
We actually have knocked the socks off European football mate we've won it 5 times. Name me another British club who have done that? In fact who else apart from Real Madrid and Munchen have won it more times than us? Sometimes you have to be proud of your achievements no matter how far back they were.

16 Apr 2016 08:28:01
Ed002, why do you bring Chelsea in all Liverpool related conversations?

16 Apr 2016 08:50:28
I'm glad the Dortmund fans kept their banners and flags up.

The Dortmund fans are LEGENDS and without them it would have been a much poorer contest.

16 Apr 2016 09:32:58
No ed. These were amazing yellow giant flags not little blue strips of sellotape stuck on the end of cocktail sticks.

16 Apr 2016 10:12:41
I'm sure the Dortmund fans brought them with them too, as opposed to the club supplying them on the seats. ;)

16 Apr 2016 10:19:14
The dortmund fans are not legends. when klopp went to applaud them they were giving him abuse. idiots.

15 Apr 2016 22:50:56
I thought that the FA had a conspiracy against Chelsea. Or is that gone since Mourinho left?

15 Apr 2016 17:20:55
Hi eds would like your thoughts on whether our on going Europa league run is worth much to the club in terms of revenue or is it insignificant in the larger scheme of things. Also will our run have a significant impact on our European ranking going forward. The other positive for me was the club been seen in a positive light with the football world watching in terms of attracting players sponsership and other revenue or am I being a little naive.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - The revenue is insignificant compared to the Champions League. The European ranking will be improved numerically for this year but overall the club will drop back a little for next season. The club, specifically Mr Ayre, has done well on the commercial front.}

15 Apr 2016 21:51:22
Ian Ayre has done a fantastic job and deserves a massive pat on the back.

15 Apr 2016 22:33:59
I believe the money this year has increased 65% to 30,000,000 euros.
We have earned 5.5 million euros so far.

16 Apr 2016 02:08:47
Bulk of money should be coming from spin off from the advertising rather than prize $.

16 Apr 2016 02:58:32
Klopp and games like that will no doubt attract more fans and maybe sponsors to the club.

16 Apr 2016 08:31:46
Every unsuccessful transfer is blamed on Ayre. He deserves a lot of praise. Have a good last year Ian!

15 Apr 2016 20:09:12
Good draw I reckon, what I was hoping for, especially home in the second leg! Sevilla are confident in this competition and I'd rather travel to Spain than Ukraine!

JFT96. Moving memorial today.

15 Apr 2016 18:51:39
Last night was brilliant. A game that can make a team going forward. Klopp has done wonders in getting them to this level of self belief. I think that Lovren and Sakho are showing themselves as a really good CB team going forward. I think Sakho would make a great captain. He has the fire. I think we need to sort out our RB and LB as I think Moreno is beyond coaching and Clyne doesn't appear to be intelligent enough at this level and gives nothing going forward. Origi is a superstar in the making. The work he does on his own at his age is beyond belief. He is a real diamond. But the player who I am liking more and more is Allen and I hope he gets more games between now and the end of the season and that we keep him. Maybe not to start all the time but he is a great squad player to have. He always probes, he is quick minded and he's got good fire in his belly. He makes space, he runs off the ball, he always looks to be part of the triangle around the ball in the opposing half and he pops up with the odd goal. I look forward to seeing him have a run. Sorting out our RB and LB would go a long way to cutting down on the amount of goals we concede. A brilliant night and even when down I thought we were going to do it. A team is being born.

Believable13 Unbelievable9

15 Apr 2016 20:08:30
Delighted with game result the way anfield was last night just fantastic . Any word on cans injury? Villareal will be tough matches imo.

15 Apr 2016 22:22:03
Totally disagree with the assesment of our players and Clyne is a top class right back, who has pace and vision. We are lucky to have him. Why not stop the criticsm of players when they have just performed heroics for our great club? Why not start doing our job and SUPPORT the team instead of making rash statements that help noone?

16 Apr 2016 02:32:39
Joe Allen is the Pirlo of Wales, what makes you think he willing to be squad player? Already there are more than 5 clubs waiting for his signature.

16 Apr 2016 02:56:12
Tel, if you think Clyne is a top class RB then, I fear for you.

16 Apr 2016 05:50:14
Clyne a top class RB? WTF man!
The guy's positioning is suspect, he cannot cross a ball, he lacks game intelligence and he only has maybe 10-12 good games in a season. I was disappointed we signed him in the first place and so far i have seen nothing to indicate he was worth what we paid for him. If Flanno's fitness issues persist, i think Klopp may well end up looking for a new RB in the summer of 2017.

16 Apr 2016 12:34:11
Are you all serious about Clyne?
I'm delighted with him, he's defensively solid which is the most important thing, and gets forward to good effect when it is appropriate to do so. I believe he got the most assists for a defender in the PL before we picked him up. Seriously I struggle to think of full backs in the league i would rather have and with flannagan too it would be incredibly wasteful to buy another rb.

16 Apr 2016 15:02:13
Joe, like I told Tel, if you think Clyne is a solid RB defensively then you are gravely mistaken. Don't look at his time at the Saints because Koeman has a way of making average players work well in his system. Remove them from there and they are exposed, just ask Lovren I propose you go watch Clyne vs City at the Etihad again objectively and you will see how "defensively" solid he is. And there are many other games I can propose you watch of him being "defensively" solid.

15 Apr 2016 18:20:34
I'm a 42 year old fan who has always been deeply moved by what happened at Hillsborough, I had friends there who were able to get out safe and who were traumatised for a very long time,
I write music and sing for a living and today seemed appropriate to write this, thankyou for reading it.

April 15th 1989, football men appeared and the sun did shine,
To play for a place at the old Wembley ground, To try to win the cup and to make us all proud,
The fans were excited, the tension was high, at a Sheffield ground where the people aren't shy!
Red was the colour in scarves all ablaze, with banners and bunting and flags hugely raised,
A day in a million for kids with a dream, for dad and his passion, for mums favorite team,
But some of our loved ones were destined to stay, caught up in the drama while footballers played,
Some people in power they all knew the score, but not for the football, not for football at all,
Disguising the facts like the fault was all ours, while our team tried to ready for the famous twin towers,
We knew as they all did the truth and the pain, as we sung and we danced through the wind and the rain,
And we knew as good people through the trouble and strife that this club is a one off, that its more about life,
So I'll tell you this now as I read through the tears, that I've thought about much in the past 27 years,
Of how it could happen of why it went wrong, of why has the justice all taken so long,
Of why we lost loved ones of why we all cry, of why did these innocent people all have to die
But one thing I do know is we won't forget, cause 96 stories aren't quite over yet,
we'll cherish and remember with with hearts hard as stone, those wonderful fans who will never walk alone.
YNWA.

15 Apr 2016 18:44:55
Good words. Well done.

15 Apr 2016 21:54:55
How can people disagree to such magic and sad word's, how sad they are.

15 Apr 2016 21:56:57
I still don't believe some things get disliked on here, bizarre, especially things like this, i'd be happyb to have the disagree button dropped its pointless.

15 Apr 2016 23:02:22
Have you all still not figured out trolls hit the disagree just to wind people up? It's a pointless feature, the Eds have even said.

{Ed002's Note - I completely agree but people keep asking for it back.}

16 Apr 2016 00:41:46
Enough is enough Ed's it's time to get rid.

15 Apr 2016 18:14:03
Liverpool is not a club anymore, we are a COUNTRY now!

Believable10 Unbelievable4

15 Apr 2016 18:51:43
Lol Sakho doesn't speak English he speaks Scouse.

15 Apr 2016 18:57:41
? let's not get too silly.

15 Apr 2016 19:02:05
Well according to sakho we are anyway.

16 Apr 2016 02:34:49
So Sakho is actually playing internationals games week in week out? And he is allowes to rep France?

15 Apr 2016 17:33:46
Well although you could say there was no easy draw, I think Villareal are the toughest draw. So with that I'm well pleased we drew them.

Fact is we can beat anyone over two legs, proven that. This means a final against one of Shaktar or Sevilla, both of whom we should beat. I would have thought if it were Villareal in the final it would be more 50/ 50.

Believable2 Unbelievable12

16 Apr 2016 02:37:14
My hunch tells me it will be another roller coaster ride. Ppl are talking like Liverpool has a god given right to final and some even winning cup. It all amount to nothing if we fall at next hurdle. nobdoy remembers this 4-3 heroics if we fall at next hurdle. it will be very close, we mught probably scrape through.

16 Apr 2016 21:57:04
nobody is going to forget that game in a hurry, no matter what happens in the semi- final.

15 Apr 2016 17:29:19
Here's a stat for the Henderson doubters.

Liverpool have won 51% of games he has started and only 33% of games he hasn't.
When you consider he hasn't been on top form either due to a continuous injury it shows what an influence he can have.

Here's to hoping he's back before the season end.

Believable7 Unbelievable4

15 Apr 2016 19:14:04
Another pointless stat that means nothing in reality.

15 Apr 2016 20:29:48
Redohio. rather than a criticism, perhaps you may have to raise a point that hauls this topic back to reality!? Hendo aside, I know I'd want to 50% winning record over 33%!

16 Apr 2016 03:07:09
Faith, I didn't criticize anyone. Hendo doesn't play on his own and the fact that we win more than we lose when he plays still don't mean anything in reality. That is a fact. If he was a goal scorer whose goals got us wins, then that stat may matter a bit more. I've said here many times and many agree, stats are mostly meaningless as they never tell the story in full, just like this pathetic stat does not. Hendo is a very good player and I don't need stats to prove it. I can look at our run towards winning the league two yrs ago and that's the proof I need as he was immense in that run.

{Ed001's Note - actually it matters no more if he is a goalscorer, that makes no difference at all. The reason the stat is meaningless is because it doesn't include the relative strengths of the teams involved. When Hendo is out, there could have been lots of others out, when he is back the team could have been consistently full strength.}

15 Apr 2016 16:26:49
Sorry Eds, I tried searching Sakho and apparently just sent you a post instead lol.

I wanted to continue this left back:right back talk with you. I agree Moreno has some real head scratcher moments, and neither of them are what I would call world class, but I can't think of a right back I would rather have than clyne and even flanno. As for left backs, I don't know many of those either; there has to be a reason Moreno has been scouted by Madrid. Moreno is still quite young. I'm just saying if we could only strengthen one position this summer, it would be keeper or midfielder. Moreno/ smith and clyne/ flanno are good enough for me.

Also, thoughts on the draw? Part of me wants Shakhtar in the final. I feel we owe those guys for our last few transfer dealings. Albeit we have to get past a very good Villarreal.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - It is hard to answer this as it falls in to the category. Liverpool won't just be strengthening a single position this summer so I am not sure my giveing an answered would help anyone. Liverpool has been looking at goalkeepers to replace Bogdan and they have looked at a number of left backs. It might be worth noting that the club has looked at Schalke's Sead Kolasinac recently. Whether or not a left back is actually added only time will tell.

The draw is tough, but they all would have been tough. Did a great job to get through.}

15 Apr 2016 18:07:36
Moreno contributes a hell of a lot going forward, try to remember not all of it is about goals and assists or even successful crosses, his link up play on the flanks is great and exactly what we need going forward. Yes he leaves himself wide open at times but who wouldn't.

15 Apr 2016 18:51:04
His link up play and contribution has been no better than Smith's (when Smith has had a chance) and in fact Smith's distribution has been far better. He has also looked more aware of his defensive duties. Moreno is not a long term solution and has been poor all season.

15 Apr 2016 19:17:15
A LB should defend first. He should not be rated based on how aweful he is defending. is defending not part of the job of FB`s these days or are we now just going to ignore that? An LB should be a good defender first, serviceable in attack. not the other way around. Hence IMO, Moreno needs to go.

16 Apr 2016 10:32:23
I think morenos biggest problem is that he thinks his right foot is only for standing on. He continually gets into bad positions because he is trying to work his left foot into the play. So for example he ends up on the wrong side of people because that he was trying to make it easier for his left foot to tackle. Someone should do a Geoff hurst on him and make him train with a slipper on his left foot.

15 Apr 2016 16:26:17
It just struck me that a lot have people have been saying we beat the best team in the competition. So if they were the best what does that make us seeing as we beat them and it was not a fluke. They had all their big guns on show last night and were breathtaking at times but we still beat them.

I have no fear of villareal, i have faith that the best team in the competition is still in it. let's see what happens eh.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

15 Apr 2016 19:05:55
The best team in the competition will be the one that wins it.

15 Apr 2016 19:18:38
Spot on, Aggerdo. Anything can happen in a one off game. BVB are better than us and that is a fact that even Klopp admitted after the came. Villareal are no joke so we`d better get ready to play.

16 Apr 2016 07:50:56
I agree that villareal will be a test, never disputed that. But if bvb were a better TEAM how come they lost. The fact is lfc are growing into a great team rather than a collection of good players.

I also agree that the team that wins it will be the best team and it will be us no doubt about that.

15 Apr 2016 16:17:05
A City fan has posted this:

"Right, if we win the CL and Liverpool win the Europa can we share an open top buss and just circle Old Trafford for 5 hours? "

Quality.

Believable25 Unbelievable4

15 Apr 2016 16:27:23
That would truly make my day lol.

15 Apr 2016 17:16:12
Utd aren't making top 4 anyway, so what would it matter?

15 Apr 2016 18:08:58
City will surely beat Utd to top4 Kman?

15 Apr 2016 19:08:56
Even better would be:
1st - Leicester: CL
2nd - Spurs: CL
3rd - Arsenal: CL
4th - Utd: Not Cl!
5th - City (win CL) : CL
7th - LFc (win Europa) : CL

5 places max allocated to CL.

15 Apr 2016 19:19:41
That would be awesome especially if Utd don`t make top 4 and don`t win the FA cup.

15 Apr 2016 19:33:13
Would make my day if they did make top 4 and had no CL reward!

Better get myself a man nappy, every chance I'd wet myself.

15 Apr 2016 20:11:24
Even if city don't win the CL we can still have 5 teams in it next year.

15 Apr 2016 15:46:58
not sure were to post this so hopefully eds will put in right place are the yellow cards still in effect or are the quashed for the next round of Europe thanks great result last night.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - They expire on completion of the quarter finals and are not
carried forward.}

15 Apr 2016 20:22:53
Good news! Thanks ed.

15 Apr 2016 15:06:36
Quite a topical question Ed's but .............

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Try asking on the European pages. This is the Liverpool page.}

15 Apr 2016 15:01:41
Think all teams in the draw have there cons:

shakhtar with all the travel
Sevilla are cup specialists
Villarreal 4th in the leg, great at home

but after last night i fancy us against anyone on our day.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - It is no big deal travelling to the Ukraine. Where do you think it is? The distance from Liverpool to Lviv won't be much different from Seville.

15 Apr 2016 15:22:39
Hence why we only play teams in Europe.

15 Apr 2016 15:26:10
i stand corrected, thought lviv was eastern ukraine

Ed002 - geography genius :)

Wish we got shakhtar now.

{Ed002's Note - For a while I thought you didn't know where Liverpool was.}

15 Apr 2016 15:31:05
everybody knows its in azerbaijan :)

16 Apr 2016 01:43:52
Hold on. Why do Donetsk play in Lviv?

Donetsk is about 1200km further than Seville btw.

{Ed002's Note - I truly despair sometimes.}

15 Apr 2016 14:56:04
Does anyone know the reasoning behind today being the last memorial service held at anfield. . jft96.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

15 Apr 2016 16:04:56
The families don't want anymore public services. They want some kind of closure.

15 Apr 2016 17:00:17
I think it's the right decision. What with the court proceeding coming to an end, hopefully ending in justice, and not putting an end to it per say, as we will always remember them, it will just give the closure the families now deserve to grief with the facts, instead of fiction that has surrounded the tragedy for many years.

15 Apr 2016 17:42:24
I was said the same reason when the wife asked. just thought there may have been something I had missed/ not heard cheers lads.

15 Apr 2016 14:45:09
Villareal for me were the team I wanted to avoid.

4th in La Liga and have some good results to their name this year.

Shaktar play in a weaker league and lost Texiera in January. And Sevilla although they are current holders have not looked the same outfit since they sold Bacca in the summer. This is reflected in the fact they are 8th in La Liga.

Those that think Villareal was the easy pick best think again.

But still, to win you have to beat the best so bring them on!

Believable6 Unbelievable4

15 Apr 2016 14:50:54
As long as we don't play Milner at CM we'll be fine against anyone.

15 Apr 2016 14:56:21
we have just beaten the best team in the competition carra, yes there are things we will need to improve on, but I don't think they will be doing cart wheels that they have drawn us, after finally getting the chance to see the game ( sadly I was working) we showed a hell of a lot of character to not accept we had lost the game after 10mins, it also showed the value of a away goal and a very tidy away performance, the same again will see us through.

15 Apr 2016 15:21:33
I agree with you Carra23.

I was surprised that a lot of people said it was the easiest draw.

Although I am confident Klopp can get us to beat anyone on our day, I would have preferred the 2 Spanish teams going at it in the semis.

Still, as I always did throughout last nights game, Keep the faith.

JTF96! YNWA.

15 Apr 2016 16:35:38
The only thing that makes it easy is that they wear a yellow shirt like Norwich and Dortmund before them!

15 Apr 2016 13:55:09
Weldone to our boys yesterday for greatest come back, Ed i want to ask anyone who knows the extent of Can's injury bcz some conflicting reports say he is out for the season, if that is the case then we are doomed as hendo is out as well. I like Lucas but has no legs Allen is a super sub at best, Stewart is young can't be relied on.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - The injury won't yet have been assessed to establish what needs to be don and how long he will be outfor. Once any swelling has gone dow - maybe today but probably tomorrow, he will have a scan and be looked at. Anything before any announcement from the club is pure speculation.}

15 Apr 2016 14:02:17
Thanks for your kind reply Ed, hope all goes well .

15 Apr 2016 14:30:03
We're not quite doomed. Can and Hendo have been immense but with a good Cdm behind them to give them freedom to roam, Milner and Allen have proven themselves more than capable of dominating midfield.

Main worry is that probably has to be Lucas now (given big match experience and with Stewart not registered for EL), and his legs aren't what they were, but I'm sure he'll be up for it and has a few PL games try it out before next leg.

15 Apr 2016 14:34:09
Zimbo

That is a decent observation and a concern mate. Credit goes to Brendan who in three years did not even consider one specialist CDM after spending £300 mill. Without a decent midfield no club has won anything in the past.

15 Apr 2016 09:16:57
to Ed01.
How much did you enjoy that game? Did you believe we could do it?
I didn't at 0-2, nevermind 1-3!

What a game. Who were the best players for lfc in your opinion?

Also did you go to the game?

{Ed001's Note - enjoy the game? Not much, I was too busy having heart attacks until Lovren won it! Though I always believe that we can do it, no matter how far behind we are.

Origi has to be the mom for us.

No mate, I wish.}

I would like to take credit for yesterday's win. After we went 2 down after 9 mins, I switched over and watched the rugby instead. I kept an eye on Twitter and noticed that we scored so I switched it back on. Within a minute of me watching again they scored and that's when I realised that me watching was jinxing the team/ score, so I switched off and didn't put it back on even when it went to 3-3 and then 4-3 because I knew that if I did switch it on, they would score.
I accept gifts and thanks from anybody and everybody, you are all very welcome.

Mng Eds and Reds
Still buzzing

Selling Joe Allen and not replacing him would put an end to the only midfielder who has little bit control on the ball.

For all those who keep asking, what does he bring? He brings stability and intelligence in that midfield which had no clue going forward nor tracking back.

Always judged up on his defensive duties and Compared him to Lucas.

They say he doesn't score enough. Which CM has scored more goals than him this season?

Believable9 Unbelievable6

15 Apr 2016 14:17:58
If Allen is happy to be a sub and squad player then we would be silly to get rid. If he wants more than that I don't see him getting it. He keeps the ball moving and doesn't put a foot wrong even if he's not spectacular.

15 Apr 2016 16:06:30
Agreed Hem. Allen does far more than simply "move the ball around", and he doesn't get enough appreciation on these pages. He is Klopp's chosen "game closer" gambit. The guy who comes in during the last third or quarter of the game, moves the ball around, pesters the opposing midfield and attack with his relentless pressing and causes enough disruption and pressure to help LFC finish off a game that it is hopefully winning. Would I start him in every game? No. He is not an automatic starter like Hendo. But maybe in a few games where his strengths would be useful in addition to a defensive/ holding midfielder, or to cover for the inevitable injuries. I don't see any other midfielder at LFC who has both his agility and range of movement. And I really think that if he is willing to stay, then he should be kept.

15 Apr 2016 13:32:02
Our squad has proved on a few occasions under Jurgen Klopp that we are developing a never say die attitude i. e., Norwich 5-4, Crystal Palace 2-1 and Dortmund 4-3. In the summer we will make signings to strengthen our weaker position and offload our fringe players. I expect Adam Bogdan, Andre Wisdom, Martin Skrtel, Tiago Ilori, Jose Enrique, Joao Texeira, Luis Alberto, Mario Balotelli, Christian Benteke and Samed Yesil to all leave along with one of our centre midfielders. I would like to see Joe Allen staying as he has excelled since the turn of the year and in my opinion should be given a new contract.

I'd have taken Villareal away before the draw. However they do seem to have plenty of goals in them so we'll need to keep it tight especially for the first leg. Second leg at Anfield with our 12th man is always an advantage.

27 tears today😢💔👼🏼

I found this poem. Always brings a tear to my eye!

Check the tickets in my wallet
Then swig a cup of tea
7.30 in the morning
One game from Wembley

Out the door and on the street
Off to meet the boys
To sing the songs we love to sing
And fill the ground with noise

The coach pulls up and we all pile on
Belly full of butterflies
Then off to sheffield we all go
The FA cup our prize

9.00am and the songs have started
I talk about the game
To a young lad that's sat next to me
I didn't catch his name

The journeys taking hours
And we cross the pennine hills
But my mind drifts off to hillsborough
As i dream of beardsleys skills

"My favourite players Aldo"
Says the boy sat next to me
His eyes full of excitement
And his words are filled with glee

"I'm meeting me mate when i get to the ground"
"He's travelling up by train"
"I'll see you back here on the coach"
"When we've beaten forest again"

The coach pulled up and off he went
Going to meet his friend
I check my ticket once again
THE LEPPINGS LANE END

Its getting near to kick off
And i'm getting close to the ground
But nobody seems to be moving
I'm stuck tight in this crowd

I'm just starting to panic
And a bizzie opens the gate
A red tide moves down the tunnel
Moving closer to thier fate

I remember clearly that tunnel
And the light shone at the end
And as i think back to that fatefull day
I still can't comprehend

That the coppers called us vandals
And drunken loutish liars
And the media fed us spite and hate
When compassion was required

But back to that day and the things i saw
Unfold before my eyes
The sight of grown men screaming
And the air was full of cries

But i was one of the lucky ones
Because i came home alive
I watched heroes in scarves on the pitch
Trying helplessly to revive-
Their friends their family and strangers
Who'd all come to watch a game
But their lives were crushed that fatefull day
On a terrace called Leppings Lane

The memories still haunt me
Every time i go to sleep
But there's one memory that gets me
And always makes me weep

Back on the coach with my head on the glass
I remember my heart it skipped a beat
When i turned to the young lad next to me
And noticed his empty seat

There were 96 empty seats that day
96 friends that we lost
And while Kelvin counted the pennies
The families counted the loss

So next time you're at Anfield
Visit the eternal flame
Feel the stone cold marble
And touch a persons name

And while you say a silent prayer
And your dreams are tossed and blown
Remember those 96 empty seats
That must never walk alone

Justice for the 96

You'll never walk alone🕯.

15 Apr 2016 12:22:09
Soldado and Llorente lead their line - that's a lot of power up front.

{Ed023's Note - Are you forgetting Cedric Bakambu?}

15 Apr 2016 12:27:30
It's in Spain and soldado play for then that's all I know.

15 Apr 2016 12:29:07
Llorente is at Sevilla? No easy draws at this stage, but we have beaten the best team in the quarter finals, make no mistake.

15 Apr 2016 12:29:50
Fingers crossed soldado recaptures his premiership form for the tie!

15 Apr 2016 13:02:17
How could i have forgotten old Cedric! Although admittedly the only reason I know he's alive is because some twitter account tells me we have the same birthday every year, before last night I didn't even know where he played!

15 Apr 2016 13:05:12
Llorente plays for Sevilla, and Bukambu is Villareal's main man. Dennis Suarez is another very good player for Villareal.

15 Apr 2016 12:30:41
Villarreal have beaten Atletico, Real Madrid, Napoli and Leverkusen this season. They managed a 2-2 draw vs Barcelona. Had 20+ clean sheets.

15 Apr 2016 16:07:45
Villareal are the REAL deal, don't get it twisted. I`ve seen them play this year and they are no joke. Well, so was BVB so at this stage and after yesterday, they should be afraid of us and not the other way.

15 Apr 2016 11:54:34
Villarreal not the side I wanted in the semis. I fancied Sevilla out of all of them. Villarreal are a quality side. They are 4th in la liga, so I think this was probably the toughest fixture on paper. We always do it the hard way so here's hoping.

If we play to our potential we will get through no problem, and I would predict a Liverpool vs shaktar final. Not confident but after yesterday I think that goes out the window.

15 Apr 2016 12:32:48

15 Apr 2016 13:40:03
Seville may only be 8th in la liga but they seem to be cup specialists. They are going for a third Europa league in a row and are already in the final of the Spanish cup this season.

15 Apr 2016 11:52:04

15 Apr 2016 15:04:08
well said alsky but let us enjoy the moment eh, games like last night do not happen very often, we have just written another glourious chapter in Liverpool's European history and got our first iconic moment under jurgen klopp, the first of many I hasten to add.

15 Apr 2016 20:59:55
Oh definitely enjoy the moment King Kenny. That game is something I will never forget it was magical, but we can't just expect to walk into the final as we have beat Dortmund now. It was not a dig at Jay19 either, but this will be a tough game and even tougher if we slightly take our foot off the gas. We need concentration and the burning fire in their belly and the passion. Klopp has given the players belief and I hope they carry that until the end of the season. I just never like to jinx things and don't want to hear or read anyone talking about us being in the final and being in the home team as there is a big IF we beat Villarreal in the way. Trust me I'm sure every fan enjoyed like they just won the lottery. My voice was going by the time I got bed lol screamed the house down. YNWA.

15 Apr 2016 22:55:40
Agree with you 100% alsky I just think we need to saviour the special moments and then concern ourselves with our next opponents nearer the time, i'm respectful but not fearful of every team left in the competition. Treat yourself to some strepsils mate and get used to losing your voice, the roller coaster ride under jurgen klopp has started and this is only the beginning.

A lot more appealing than last summer after we lost 6-1 to stoke.

15 Apr 2016 12:41:49
Making the champions league next season will make the difference on recruiting, our problem recently has been who would give up CL football to come to us.

{Ed023's Note - One word; scenes!!! The fight and never give up attitude Klopp has put into this group is just brilliant and it isn't the first time a Klopp side has done this remember Dortmund/Malaga. {Ed002's Note - And a sticky phone I imagine.}

15 Apr 2016 08:55:19
Ok, riding in the recent wave of good performances, who are now 'safe' and should stay next season.

Only weeks ago it seemed we could name 5-6 but it really does look more and more like Klopps quality is coming through the players on the pitch.

Not long ago, Moreno, Lovren, Allen and Mignolet were on the 'get rid' list. Even though Milner can't take a corner he still managed to set up 2-3 of the goals last night. These guys have permormed to a high standard over more then 1-2 games.

Have opinions changed? Are Ibe, Lucas and Sturridge still unreliable? Do you Still want the same players sold as you did in December?

For me Benteke and Lallana don't have a future, there are better out there and within the club already. On the flip side, Allen and Lovren have turned my opion around completely. Fickle, but I'd hate to see either go.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

15 Apr 2016 09:03:17
Always loved lovren. So can't say he changed my opinion as i always thought there was a good player in there.

Allen- You just can't sell Pirlo man.

Lallana- While his performances have improved he still does not contribute enough through goals. Probably go if we are seriously looking at Goetze.

Benteke- Can't see a way back for him. Origi looks awesome (major turnaround klopp effect)

Moreno- I don't think klopp can work hi charm on this guy. Horrendous at times

Milners been much improved since the turn of the year keep hin away from corners and on the wings and he's a decent player.

15 Apr 2016 09:28:25
Morono and Benteke for me . unless Morono learns how to defend. Lallana can be good for us.

15 Apr 2016 11:09:59
Milner is still old and the highest earner so I would be surprised if he stays. When Grujic comes there is no room for Allen really so he is probably gone too. They have certainly stepped up last few games but they would really have to become essential in the eleven to stay in my opinion.

15 Apr 2016 12:11:40
I think it's about the balance of the squad and who Klopp likes. I'd happily keep Milner or Lallana in the squad but it may restrict the opportunities for Ojo/ Ibe/ Markovic (we probably haven't got space for all three of them anyway) .

Similarly in midfield I'd happily keep everyone but we haven't got space (especially if we purchase anyone else there) . It may come down to one of Lucas or Allen and at the moment Allen is in the driving seat. In defence we need two left backs, a new one plus either Moreno or Smith so I expect one of them to leave.

So departures this summer? Benteke (makes me sad but he doesn't have a role), maybe Lallana unless he's happy to fight for his place in the squad. Smith unless Moreno wants to leave. Lucas or Allen and a final controversial one, Sakho if there's a hint he won't be first choice next year.

15 Apr 2016 12:17:47
Milner to me is still off on the basis of what he brings vs what he earns, its not enough. If Allen carries his form through then he'll be kept but we have had periods where Allen looked great in the past for 5-7 games and then just went back to his default, so still not sold on him staying just yet considering who he blocks. I doubt Lallana's going - personally I like what he does but more importantly, Klopp seems to love it.

Enrique, Benteke, Skrtel, Toure, Caulker, Ilorii, Bodgan, Mclaughlin and Texiera will all leave - quite possibly Moreno as well, alongside a number of the younger players.

15 Apr 2016 12:18:24
Oh and of course Balotelli.

Congratulations Dejan Lovren! You are really stating to how your worth. Even without the goa you had a greatgame and have been getting better nd better since Klopp arrived.
On a side note, iv got ed2's words on Origi in the back of m mind. Still early days, but wow, I don't see a ceiling on what hs kid could one day become. Here's to ed2 being wrong for once.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - You let me know when Origi is one of the best three of four strikers in the world then.}

15 Apr 2016 08:47:15
Lets not get ahead of ourselves shall we mate? The last thing Origi needs is more pressure heaped onto his shoulders. He is developing just fine and does not need the "world class" tag bandied around him just yet. If he turns out half the player Suarez is now, i will be one happy chap.

15 Apr 2016 09:38:54
I almost feel sorry for Origi - he is getting hyped up so much right now that it feels inevitable that he'll soon be ridiculed and hammered down just as Ibe and a whole lot of other Liverpool players. We should just enjoy how much he have managed to improve, how well he is doing right now and prepare ourself to be patient and supportive once he hit a bad run.

15 Apr 2016 10:37:51
let him enjoy his moment.

15 Apr 2016 12:20:35
Why in football can a player only be a showpony, a bang average workhorse or a world class star? Are we really so digitally tuned that we can't see the analogue slide in ability?

15 Apr 2016 10:39:39
Origi took the stick last yr and the beginning of this. I would not call this being hyped up. At this time he's playing really well and even if he does go into a slump. He's at least showed the fans what he is capable of.

15 Apr 2016 08:24:40

15 Apr 2016 08:22:47
Hate to say it mate, but Joe Allen will not be at LFC next season. He is nearly 26 and entering the prime years of his career. He will not hang around to be a squad player, so offering him a new contract will be silly. Rather give Brannagan and Chirivella a shot, they have a much higher ceiling than Allen anyways in terms of quality.

15 Apr 2016 09:03:20
Just hope he hangs around. Hate to say this, but if we are to reach the absolute top we´ll need a "Nicky Butt-type" utility player. Loyal sub who can come on and do a job, small ego, high tactical ability. Can be used to shut up shop, gain control of the midfield, press in a certain way, replace an injured midfielder not making the team look shaky, and so on. If not Allen, then who?

The only draw-back by keeping him might limit playing time.

15 Apr 2016 09:04:16
Sorry, missed the last few words.

". limit playing time for the likes of Stewart. "

15 Apr 2016 07:56:52

That was a privilege to experience. Not a good footballing display but what belief, togetherness and energy.

A few thoughts

1) wow, that's why we watch every single second of every game, for moments like this. up the unbelievable mind blowing Reds!

2) first leg was tactically astute, the second leg was all about belief and all heart. This team and Klopp can deliver both ways

3) Klopp has turned Can, Lovren, Firmino, Origi, Milner, Sakho, Allen, Migs, Llalana, Coutinho all into better players. I was very excited when he came in but that's an incredible achievement. Just shows what a coach can do for a sides style, structure and confidence and how lucky we are. I believe!

4) Milner and Allen showing they can be highly effective as part of a midfield 3 ahead of a defensive shield - and with our strike force of Sturridge, Coutinho and Origi performing, that's more than enough firepower to score and win. Still think neither Allen Nor Milner should play deep midfield in a 4-2-3-1 or at CDM, but they've been immense in a 4-3-3 setup last few games and credit where it's due. champions both

5) a 4-3-3 or midfield diamond also allows Sturridge and Origi on the pitch at the same time which looks increasingly like the way to go. both look incredibly threatening and with complementary abilities. Master and Padawan

6) new Lovren > old Lovren

What a match, I love the new never say die Reds!

Stewart should start from here on for the league games. Such shame he isn't in the EL squad.

Congrats on the win last night. Knocked the most difficult team out IMO. All yours to win now.

Incredible game, well worth staying awake till 5am for. I have to say Origi is performing way beyond anything I've expected. He looks physically much bigger and stronger, his first touch looks to have improved, he's beingmore direct and aggressive, he's scoring frequently and, all in all, performing very well. What do you think the biggest reason for this is? Is it coaching? Does he just work hard on his game? Or is it a combination of all these things.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

15 Apr 2016 06:30:45
Under Brendan, he looked like the next Welbeck. Under Klopp, he plays like Lukaku. Origi will blossom into a brilliant player for us in the future, and we will have Klopp to thank for that. Attitude is also good, he spends extra time in training and his movement is inspired by none other that Sturridge.

{Ed001's Note - he does not play like Lukaku! He can control the ball for starters. He has decent hold up play too, neither of which are within Lukaku's realm. Lukaku is a powerful runner onto a through ball and a decent finisher, but his first touch is abysmal and his hold up play is awful.}

15 Apr 2016 06:46:13
Lol i meant to say what Lukaku is to Everton. Lukaku is more of traditional CF, Origi does everything else so well but needs to work on his finishing. We have a gem on our hands. I have to say Brendan had the eye for talent, just did not know what to do with them when they came.

15 Apr 2016 06:46:56
He has shown far superior technical qualities than Lukaku ever has!

15 Apr 2016 07:32:37
Can't say Brendan had an eye for talent . he blames the TC for signings so can't take credit.

15 Apr 2016 12:25:12
Valid point John. he's been quick to criticise the tools for his failures, ironic the only real big name he pushed for heavily was Benteke.

15 Apr 2016 06:03:38
I love the idea that Klopp doesn't allow the players to touch the This Is Anfield sign - maybe til they win something.

This guy is a motivational genius.

And after turning Lewandowski, Reus and Aubameyang into top forwards, Klopp may be well on the way to turning Origi into an some player. The kid has already improved so much in 6 months. :)

But Moreno is still a defensive liability.

15 Apr 2016 07:03:38
Klopp is great at developing players but to be fair, Aubameyang's transformation into a top striker is more down to Tuchel than Klopp.

15 Apr 2016 07:12:23
Really zpecial one, Aubameyang seems to think otherwise.

15 Apr 2016 08:00:07
There is no way to compare Klopp and Tuchel. They are both completely different in their styles and approach. Klopp is an inspirer and motivator who relies on a back up of trusted allies for the tactical side of the game where as Tuchel is a tactician who has a measured approach to everything. Klopp has built up that Dortmund team and can take credit for a lot of it but Tuchel has added tactics and found better ways to bring out the best in players, Mkhitaryan being a good example of this. Mkhitaryan has added assists and goals to his repertoire since Tuchel came, Mkhitaryan may well of had these but Tuchel brought them to the fore of his game. Klopp showed last night that tactics cannot beat heart, fight and desire, sometimes inspiration and belief is all that's needed which is why Tuchel couldn't explain it. There is no explanation. Inspiration and belief made it happen.

15 Apr 2016 08:40:07
Yes FORNAX, really. Klopp used Auba mainly as a winger and during Auba's time under Klopp, he was nowhere near the top strikers. Under Tuchel, he has become one of the most feared players on the planet with a fantastic scoring record.

15 Apr 2016 10:10:08
Fairly certain they played lewandowski on wing when he first started so they could ease him into the role. I understand same reasoning was used for auba. But that doesn't take away from the fact that Tuchel is rapidly building in his reputation for being a very good tactician.
The way he has brought weigl on in leaps and bounds impresses me. I suspect he will turn out to be the buy of the year.

15 Apr 2016 11:10:54
Except, and this is coming from Aubameyang, he credits a lot of the progress he's made to having worked with Klopp. if you think the only way a coach can legitimately influence a players development is the position they are played in then you may have genuinely trumped 'the special one' for ludicrous comments made in a public forum.

15 Apr 2016 05:25:13
Absolutely brilliant last night origi is going to be some player for us and just wanted to add that we look so much better when joe allen comes into the midfield . hope we keep hold of him in the summer.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

15 Apr 2016 06:09:44
Allen is technically a better player than anyone we have in that midfield except Stewart.

{Ed001's Note - why should he care? Nice to see a manager be honest.}

15 Apr 2016 06:10:09
Agreed. He seemed as passionate as JK so fair play. rather have that than some twee Brendan Rodgers tat about commitment and drive.

15 Apr 2016 06:33:18
Brutally honest reply by Tuchel. His team are out, and BVB turn their attentions to Bundeliga and the German Cup. Why would he give a f**k who wins the Europa now? His job is to coach Dortmund, not kiss the media and other club's a***s to gain publicity.

15 Apr 2016 07:03:56
No problem with that at all.

15 Apr 2016 07:30:04
Yeah seemed like a decent bloke from what I read of his interview anyway.

15 Apr 2016 02:13:42
edoo1 could you give us a review of tonights incredible match for those of us who sadly had to work, cheers pal, strangely when I heard we were losing 2-0 and then 3-1 I said to myself its time for one of our famous European comebacks, more in hope than expectation but supporting lfc since 1986 has taught me to never stop believing. One final point nights like tonight is the reason we need to play in Europe, no matter which competition we are in, what a brilliant tribute to the 96 that was, now let's finish the job.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - my throat is so sore and I am still grinning even now! What a night. Not sure how many of them I can cope with, but that was incredible.
Overall that was a warning, which I hope is heeded. I won't do my usual player by player, as I don't want to get too critical of individuals, but I will just point out some of the issues.
First off I saw some people talking about how Sakho was 'doing a Skrtel', when in fact he was doing no such thing. Lovren was being drawn out because of a lack of cover from midfield (who went missing defensively time and time again last night, as always without Hendo there), so Sakho was doing the correct thing in dropping off to cover the through ball. The issue was that the full backs were not. They were utterly and completely hopeless last night. Clyne's ridiculous stop, when he was in position to bring down or pressure Reus, was a sackable offence. It was incompetence of the highest degree. I can cope with mistakes due to not being good enough, but not making the effort is not something I can accept from a Liverpool player.
We really have to heed the warning though, the full backs do not offer enough in attack to make up for their lack of any kind of positional sense. Actually any kind of sense whatsoever. Especially if we do not have anyone in midfield offering any kind of cover. I really do not know what Milner was doing when we didn't have the ball, I am quite sure he didn't either. He can not play in the centre again.
The fight from the players to make up for it is great to see. The desire to keep going, when it all looked lost is a major bonus. So many teams would have folded when they scored the 3rd, certainly the team Klopp inherited would have.

For me last night is summed up by Origi. He looked like a lost little boy under Rodgers, now he looks a confident, talented footballer who can bully defenders. Going forward we can trouble anyone, we have to play to our strengths and get at every team we face.}

15 Apr 2016 05:28:24
Ed I must say I think Moreno made some mistakes but he also made some terrific tackles. You can't really question the lads passion. When he gets in a 1 on 1 chasing a ball he almost always wins out. I'll always disagree about your opinion on our fullbacks 😂 I think we have two promising fullbacks. And flanno as well. But must agree, what a performance tonight. I think with the system Klopp plays, it's hard to be a fullback. They have to get forward so much or we have little width. Firmino is kinda in reverse again unfortunately.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but you are talking crap, Moreno usually does a stupid two footed lunge that is going to result in players getting hurt if he is not broken of that habit. Our fullbacks are hopeless defensively, anyone who can't see it has no reading of the game.}

15 Apr 2016 06:30:42
Moreno has all the attributes to be a great left back apart from common sense. He usually gets booked for stupid tackles when the ball is going nowhere. Firmino going backwards? because he had 1 average game and 20 average mins last week after his injury. Could you be more fickle?

15 Apr 2016 06:37:44
Ed001, u were talking about the Spurs's fullbacks and their tendency to be caught high up the pitch in counter attack situations and the CBs having to be dragged out of position to cover for them. Spurs have Dier and Dembele who easily drop deep to help out the CBs but we do not. I agree that our full backs are the problem, not Sakho or Lovren. We do need a new LB and CDM in the summer though. Can should be competing with Hendo for the CM position and a new CDM to come in to help out the defense. Or maybe that is what Klop wants for Matip, to do the job that Dier does for Spurs.

{Ed001's Note - actually what they do is drop Dier in to make 3 at the back, and either he or one of the centre backs will cover the space behind the full backs. Dembele just sits in front to play the ball around from there, rather than being there as defensive cover, it is just that he likes to play from deep. If you watch when he was out, they were much more open because his replacement played higher up. So it is clearly not a tactic from Poch, but the way Dembele interprets his role.}

15 Apr 2016 06:49:18
But we do need our very own Dier, not a Dembele as Can and Hendo can easily play that role. I have a feeling Matip is going to be spending a lot of time in CDM than CB, and Klopp has another CB lined up to challenge Sakho and Lovren. Matip has played CDm before so hopefully he can slot right in. Not sure Lucas has the legs for that job anymore. He should provide cover at CB than in midfield.

15 Apr 2016 07:32:34
To Eds point, I think we look OK in 4-2-3-1 with Can and Hendo at the base, as one of them always stays deep to help the CBs on a counter, while and the other remains disciplined in breaking down play in midfield ahead.

On the other hand we look shocking when we play one of either Allen or Milner deep as they tend to get badly get pulled out of position and Can gets overrun. Where Allen and Milner thrive however is a midfield 3 where there are more bodies in midfield to break down play, and also allows Milner to push wide to deliver crosses knowing there are still two behind him covering a break.

I was a seller of Milner and Allen before the last few weeks, but they've shown they can do an outstanding job in a 4-3-3 together. Fair play to both as they've done an outstanding job lately.

15 Apr 2016 04:32:07
To be fair we created chances in both halves but scored only in 2nd half.
Only issue i have with klopp is that he keeps on playing lallana and moreno, when they still don't do their primary duty. lallana just need to help us in attack some how and moreno plays spent most of the time in opposition half.

The most important fact was that from start to end we were trying to win and kept the same intensity.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

15 Apr 2016 05:16:23
The left back position definitely needs upgrading. Moreno is nowhere to be seen when the opposition counter attacks and Sakho gets dragged out of position every game to cover his deficiencies. Spurs have the same problem with Rose and Walker but they have 2 disciplined mids in Dier and Dembele who fill in for their CBs when they cover the wide areas. We do not have such cover in midfield and Moreno simply does not contribute enough in attack to make up for his defensive frailties. New LB has to be a priority this summer.

15 Apr 2016 05:19:52
He keeps playing firmino too when firmno look lost.

{Ed001's Note - really? He gave the ball away a few times, but he was also attracting their players in 3s and 4s, creating space elsewhere.}

15 Apr 2016 07:31:12
Firmino is obviously a player that takes a while to get going, beit at the start of season or back from injury.

Agree with Milner in centre, by boy did he look good out wide. The crosses he was putting in, even if he can't take a corner.

15 Apr 2016 08:45:02
Thought lalanna was the first player to get on the ball and get us playing after we went 2-0 down this was when coutinho and firmino started slowly so I think lalanna deserves some credit as I think last night he calmed the team and gave us back a bit of confidence when a lot were and could of stayed shell shocked.

15 Apr 2016 06:12:44
There lies the problem and dilution Indian.

Spurs, Real and Barcelona all have poor full backs only being protected by their top quality CM. Dortumand first two goals showed us y we need to bring in at least one world class CM.

15 Apr 2016 04:16:12
Starting to feel like 2005. Shades of the Olympiacos game, needing to score 3 and going down to the wire. Can't put Lovren's header up their with Stevie's screamer, but they all count just the same. Let's hope we make it to the final and see the stadium packed with red nutters :)

Believable3 Unbelievable4

15 Apr 2016 07:02:12
I agree mate - more like Olympiacos than the final to me as well. Lovren's header not quite "what a hit Son" material, but what a finish to a wonderful game.

15 Apr 2016 07:28:19
Righto, getting sick of this. What is their to disagree with? In future, don't just hit disagree, give us your opinion. Tell me what you disagree with.

15 Apr 2016 02:49:08
Just got back from the game (ok I may have stopped off for a few celebratory drinks afterwards) and wow, just wow.

Anfield was electric. Can't believe what we just pulled off there.

Somehow, there were 6 Germans in the row in front of me. Brave too, as they were very vocal. They celebrated their goals a bit on the loud side. When their last goal went in they went mental, congratulating eachother on getting through to the semis. Ain't karma a bitch! :-)

That's up there with the best games I've ever been to. Hopefully we'll go on to lift the trophy so that game will mean much more too.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

15 Apr 2016 03:51:21
Hope so. I really wanted to avoid Sevilla at all costs but last night's game will have made every LFC fan believe that we can beat an team out there no matter how good or bad they are.
Imagine if we actually won the Europa league with Klopp in his very first season (and not even a full one) and not one player from the entire squad (Caulker does not count) was his signing. Klopp is definitely the best thing that has happened to this football club since Istanbul.

15 Apr 2016 05:23:10
Seriously Liverpool players should watch Athletico madrid vs Barcelona game again and again. A. madrid did something similar to what we achieved vs Dortmund but they play at higher level. Higher level in every aspect-tactical skill telepathic understanding with each other and they destroy barca.

{Ed001's Note - they have been playing together in that style for years, unlike us.}

15 Apr 2016 06:35:50
Leek are you even a Liverpool fan? You're negative atthe best of times and hate most of the players but you have nothing positive to say on a great night!? Go support atletco if Liverpool play at such a low level.

15 Apr 2016 06:52:47
Th reason why Atletico's defense is o solid is because Simeone has not tinkered with it very often. Gabi, Luis, Juanfran, Godin have been a part of that defense for years, hence their so called "telepathic understanding. " They have a solid base from which they have built their team. We should emulate that, not the tactics or system.

15 Apr 2016 09:10:50
I don't believe he is a liverpool fan tbh, nothing positive to say after kast night says it all. I mean who gives a rats arse about atletico, really!

15 Apr 2016 00:32:30
What a fabulous night. Those players did our wonderful club and manager proud. If i was told i would end up writing this after the first 10 minutes i wouldn't have believed it for a second. Overjoyed.

On a night when so many players found a level of passion and determination that only seems possible with Liverpool teams. I thought i'd give my input to two players who i think may get slightly overlooked for the praise they deserve for their performances.

Very rare i say this but credit where it's due i thought Migs had a blinder, there was nothing that could have been done about any of their goals and he was very unlucky the ball fell so kindly for Mkhitaryan after a great stop. However the key moment that i believe ultimately won us the tie was his crucial hand on Pisczek's low cross, just waiting to tapped in.

The other player who has been pointed out recently on this site to be a key contributor to good results when he plays. That man is Daniel Sturridge, as well as Milner's great cross, the 4th goal was his genius in 2 counts, firstly his clever run allowing the ball to be fed in to him accurately, maintaining possession and secondly his inch perfect nutmeg pass to setup Milner for the cross. It's this level of sublime quality that often makes the difference in ties like this, and what makes him such an important player for our club, one who i hope will be here for many great years to come in what is looking like a fearsome strike partnership with Origi.

Whats funny is Sturridge actually received the ball awfully and got it caught under his feet but by doing so pulled out both defenders even wider to create the space for Milners run. xD.

Just to end that rant, fair play he is a top coach and enjoyed his post match talk. Take defeat like champions an all but still so happy after him celebrating like that on our patch. Amazing amazing night.
