Here is one for the conspiracy pages. Look at Sterling's haircut in the pictures. He had a haircut recently, and as Ibe was on loan for half the season, this incident must have happened pre season. Not condoning it, but maybe it was not around matches.

Ed002, sorry if you've answered this before recently (I tried the search function) but do you now expect Sterling to leave in the summer? Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - If he doesn't sign a new deal then I would expect him to leave.}

15 Apr 2015 21:34:03
Why? We can still sell him next summer - his contract ends in two years. I see no reason in the world to sell him this summer.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Regardless, the club will want matters resolved.}

15 Apr 2015 22:02:21
Next summer he would be worth well short of his true valuation if we tried to sell him.

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Apr 2015 06:15:01
Jonnybarnes, I think there is a massive difference in his true valuation and what many on here think he is worth, and if he did leave in the summer. I would hazard a guess that the club would have a number that they would deem acceptable for him if he were to leave. In the end he is only worth what another club is prepared to pay for him.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Apr 2015 08:59:33
Fair point Brisbane. but he will stay anyway so the last 2 months chatting about his contract is completely irrelevant anyway.
The fact is that if you sell a player with 2 yrs left on a contract then you get more money than a player with one year left.

Evening Eds

The Ibra rumours are obviously very far fetched. I see he is available in the summer but his wage demands must be ridiculous and there for not happening?!

Also regarding keepers, who seems to be high up our wanted list please, Patricio mentioned a bit is he a viable option?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Patricio would certainly be viable, but I cannot put them in to order.}

Hello Ed002. About that earlier post, could you inquire about those kids and let me know their names and clubs? The folks I was telling you are doing something to encourage more kids to get involved in football and more information, such where they play would be hugely helpful. Looks like Teixeira won't be getting a chance at liverpool, .

Broke his leg just above his ankle in the Brighton game. 22 years old, gutted injuries kept him from being what he could have been.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

15 Apr 2015 16:44:45
He can still recover. but perhaps unfortunately not at LFC.
Moreover he won't be affected much by his injury as his game does not depend on pace and strength.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Apr 2015 16:52:37
Only chance he has is being back in time for pre-season and our manager (BR or other) having enough to work on from 95% of the season. Remember, the championship are only a few games from the end. Still, you're probably right. A massive shame

on this day when we remember our 96 brothers and sisters who never came home I wanted to put a poem on here called the Justice Bell written by Dave Kirby 13 yrs ago for the 13th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster

The Justice Bell
by Dave Kirby

A schoolboy holds a leather ball
in a photograph on a bedroom wall
the bed is made, the curtains drawn
as silence greets the break of dawn.

The dusk gives way to morning light
revealing shades of red and white
which hang from posters locked in time
of the Liverpool team of 89.

Upon a pale white quilted sheet
a football kit is folded neat
with a yellow scarf, trimmed with red
and some football boots beside the bed.

In hope, the room awakes each day
to see the boy who used to play
but once again it wakes alone
for this young boy's not coming home.

Outside, the springtime fills the air
the smell of life is everywhere
viola's bloom and tulips grow
while daffodils dance heel to toe.

These should have been such special times
for a boy who'd now be in his prime
but spring forever turned to grey
in theYorkshire sun, one April day.

The clock was locked on 3.06
as sun shone down upon the pitch
lighting up faces etched in pain
as death descended on Leppings Lane.

Between the bars an arm is raised
amidst a human tidal wave
a young hand yearning to be saved
grows weak inside this deathly cage.

A boy not barely in his teens
is lost amongst the dying screams
a body too frail to fight for breath
is drowned below a sea of death

His outstretched arm then disappears
to signal fourteen years of tears
as 96 souls of those who fell
await the toll of the justice bell.

Ever since that disastrous day
a vision often comes my way
I reach and grab his outstretched arm
then pull him up away from harm.

We both embrace with tear-filled eyes
I then awake to realise
its the same old dream I have each week
as I quietly cry myself to sleep.

On April the 15th every year
when all is calm and skies are clear
beneath a glowing Yorkshire moon
a lone scots piper plays a tune.

The tune rings out the justice cause
then blows due west across the moors
it passes by the eternal flame
then engulfs a young boys picture frame.

His room is as it was that day
for thirteen years its stayed that way
untouched and frozen forever in time
since that tragic day in 89.

And as it plays its haunting sound
tears are heard from miles around
they're tears from families of those who fell
awaiting the toll of the justice bell.

Always on our minds JFT 96 YNWA

I've seen Shaun Wright Phillips and Bradley Johnson in their prem days both smoking shisha in bars at the side of busy streets, really don't think they're that bothered to be honest. In my opinion if it is not affecting their job then there shouldn't really be a problem.

Joe Allen says Sterling doesn't let anything said in the press get to him in the slightest, and in that case, you have to say fair play to him because the press are certainly not holding back on him.

The Delusion of Finance
------------------------------

I don't get on here as much as I used to as during the NHL season I am working but during reading over the last couple of weeks I noticed something on these forums. Price skews your ability to assess.

What seems to keep popping up 'Raheem isn't worth 100k a week.' It's not the only example either, the people on these forums seem to base their analysis of a player based on their cost (something which nearly every poster has no idea about anyway).

Why not try this? Just assess their ability on it's own merit. Not compared to their cost but just on it's own. Now ask yourself. is it better to have player x in your team or against it?

Use this principle to decide whether or not a player has talent. Not the completely defunkt model of talent vs price. Let the people who actually know the price decide whether they are worth the money are not and stop discussing finances when we don't know what those finances are.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

15 Apr 2015 14:21:49
No offense mate but that's ridiculous. leaving price out of the equation what would you rather have a fiat or Ferrari? If you don't have some basis of comparison then all you have is statements with no meaning.

Like "Liverpool would be a better team with ronaldo bale messi and courtois" obviously but it's not viable. and we have a right to compare wages (where applicable which I'll come back to) yes Liverpool would be worse off without sterling at the moment but you do have to compare to players we could get if he went. ie would Walcott and 15-20 mill and wages possibly similar around 100k (taking the most common example here at the moment) would this put us in a better situation both financially and or on the field? Well that's the point and beauty of debate.

I apologize if this came across harsh as I think you're overall point got skewed while you typed. As I think you were trying to get at the people who spout random figures and random statements without any thought at all. like "ibrahimovic any chance if sterling goes we could get him on the cheap?" As anyone with a bit of cop on could evaluate that he I am sure is on 200+k a week and has no resale value and 100k a week increase to our wage bill over 3 years is over 15 million.
This is where I think people have let basic sense go over their head and also taking into account simple things Luke language barriers and actual style of play which make huge differences. and before someone now will probably attack me I'm not claiming to know the ins and outs of a football club nor at this moment in time do I really give a sh#t. But I do understand the basics of life and the ability to put 2 and 2 together myself sadly something which does seem to go missing on the people who ask the eds the same question under their question which they were told would not be answered. This and the nonsensical 17 year old from the UAE someone heard something about being quoted as the next messi who we should buy. these are the posts which I'm sure most people could do without. and ironically rants like this so rant over and apologies it's been a long day!

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Apr 2015 15:12:06
What I said was, leave the price to the people who both know and understand the club finances. We as fans know nothing of these things yet constantly discuss them as though they matter. It's only an important part of the equation when you know the actual number. Otherwise you are just making it up.

All I asked is that we as fans judge a players worth to the team based on what he contributes on the pitch.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 Apr 2015 17:00:08
Makes no sense to me. On that bases he has done twice that of Falcao this season, so what's that then? £500k p/w as he should be on twice falcaos wage? £160k twice Balotelli? Etc half Coutinho efforts this season? £40k p/w then? Etc

He has not done enough yet to justify £100k+.he looks like he could and if he does then pay him that but why now? Has he led us to anything? Scroed 30+ goals? Singled handedly beaten top four teams while the other 10 team mates were average that game? No.

Twenty six years have come to pass,
Since the tragedy unfolded on the Hillsborough grass.
Ninety six souls slipped, needlessly, away
Ninety six souls whom we remember each day.
They came to support their favourite team,
Their target was Wembley and an FA cup dream.
As they entered the ground through the Leppings Lane gate.
They couldn't have imagined what lay in wait.
Caught up in a throng of people and amid obvious distress,
The police had dithered too long, only adding to their mess.
They lost control of the crowd as well as their senses,
Ignoring the fans pleas as they clambered over the fences.
Without a secondary thought, a sea of red shirts spilled on to the field,
Attending to the injured, not knowing that their fate had been sealed.
Trying in vain to keep their fellow supporters alive,
At least until professional help would arrive.
A few days had passed and the press had their say,
Of how events had unfurled on that disastrous day.
The Sun is a down market and daily publication,
Full of scurrilous stories to 'entertain' the nation.
This paper published lie after lie,
Of how the ninety six did actually die.
Blaming the people who had come to the victims aid,
But Murdoch lost no sleep, he was still getting paid.
The police fare no better in this sorry tale,
Blaming drunken fans was way off the scale.
The initial inquest was fixed to their eternal shame,
They exonerated themselves by giving Liverpool FC the blame.
Fast forward twenty six years and the tables have turned,
The bridges built by the establishment have been well and truly burned.
The families took their case to the powers that be,
And the evidence they produced was blatant for all to see.
The fans had acted impeccably, as this city has always known,
Leaving the authorities to crawl back under that stone.
The finger of blame was pointed back squarely at them,
And the nation, not just Liverpool, now knows who to condemn.
The Liver bird sits proudly atop the building with its chest puffed out,
The truth would always rear its head, of that there is no doubt.
If there is one thing that the city of Liverpool, to the world, has now shown,
Is that there are ninety six souls destined to never walk alone.

Just a little poem I wrote last year for 25th anniversary. On this date every year, us blues stand shoulder to shoulder with you reds. Gone but not forgotten, JFT96

Not sure how a position we are looking to strengthen in is deemed as crowded?
