Hi eds,

Is Armin Hodzic still a Liverpool player? as I know he is back playing in Bosnia but is it on loan? what do you think of the player?

Regards

Marc

I looked into it earlier this season and I think, after reading some dodgy translations of some Bosnian websites, he is just on loan. He looked to have some class about him in the couple of pre season games he played with us; good finisher.

DP

It appears that he is on loan to FC Zeleznicar. Up to the moment he has made nine appearences, scoring one goal.

Rangers fan here. Just popping on to leave my thoughts and prayers with the Liverpool family on the 24th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. Nobody should go to watch the team they love and not return home. We at Rangers have of course had a similar tragedy, and the grief will never leave us, but it always makes me proud to see how football comes together on occassions like this. Rangers and Liverpool have a special bond and I'm sure I speak for every Rangers fan when I say God bless the families and friends of the 96.

with Andy Carroll not on his way to west ham why not offer him to newcastle in exchange for sissoko and steven taylor, I think sissoko would give us the power and drive gerrard used to do and I think taylor would be a good back up to agger and whoever else we get.
paul d

Because why would Newcastle swap two first team players in positions they are light, for one they can probably afford to buy outright?

Lol what a clown, why don't they throw in Ben Arfa and Cabye too to sweeten the deal. Andy Carroll is worth 7 to 10 mil and no more.

What you should be thinking is, if we were to BUY Andy Carroll now, how much would WE be willing to pay. then you will get a true reflection of his value.

Maybe for Newcastle he will play better as he will be more willing to put his head in and put his body on the line to score goals for his boyhood team? They may want to pay 10 mil for him, which in all honesty is more than anyone else is likey to pay, unless for the final few games of the season he can show the form and unplayablity he had at Newcastle which made him the most sought after striker in the PL.

If Andy does have a good finish to the season it should increase his overall value. However the opposite could also be said.

Who do the fans think realistic targets are for Liverpool like who do you think are in the short list

(I no it ain't to do with us but just to see who we think Rogers is looking at cheers)

Scott Sinclair, Tom Ince, son (from hamburg) Honda, Eriksen, maybe a striker that guy from psg maybe, alonso to name a few and Williams sadly

Why would williams give up European football for us?

Clearly not a Liverpool fan saying that about Williams clearly Liverpool are a step up from Swansea been in Europe one season done make no difference

Tom Ince, Momo Diame, Douglas and Alderweireld.

We all stand together today to remember 96 innocent lives tragically lost all those years ago today.

Personally I stood on those terraces as a Man United fan to watch my own team several months before the tragedy and I know it could easily have happened to us. I remember the day of the tragedy clearly with great sadness. So today my thoughts and prayers are absolutely with the families who lost a loved one that day, it is such a terrible tragedy that has impacted so many lives.

I hope there is justice for all of those innocent lives lost. We should all expect nothing less.

I'd go all out for Alderweireld and Mertens these two Belgium stars wouldn't half bolster our side. I also think we should sign a young goalkeeper around 23 and a defensive midfielder to help Lucas out.

I would absolutely love this to happen mertens he is fast direct and gets goals how much roughly would he cost anyone no???

Haven't seen much of alderweireld but I liked what I saw there obvious to the public let's hope Rogers has his eye them two

I'd imagine the pair would be in the region of £25 mil. We do need more of a goal threat outwide and Mertens is the prefect option for this.

Papa G

That's cheap compare to some PL players of lower quality so come on Brenden take a chance on these two if they don't work out we won't slate you ;-)

Mertens 10-16 mil I think I heard a ed say

Just finished watching the 96 memorial

I am a 45 year old man who remembers the day as if it were yesterday, and watching the pictures on the LFC tv program of the poor soles who lost their lives, many of those who were just children, still after all these years brings tears to my eyes

I say shame on all those who hid the truth, and shame on you who still hide the truth. A women is being buried tomorrow who certainly knew more than she let on, and if it is brought to light that any government person or body alive or dead hid the truth they should be brought to task no matter who they are.

Hi guys Man United fan here in peace.

I don't like your club as much as you guys don't like mine but what happened at Hillsborough was nothing to do with football. The 96 people that lost their lives and countless others that were injured on that day were seriously let down and the fact it took so long to be admitted is an absolute joke.

They were human like all of us and no matter what colours you wear, where you live or how you feel about another club/city, we should all remember them and just be incredibly grateful that it didn't happen to us or somebody we love because it easily could have.
I was only 8 at the time but I remember watching it with my dad and seeing tears in his eyes. He is a man city supporter and I am united but on that day at such a young age I learned that things are sometimes much bigger than football. Seeing how it affected him and then me on that day showed me that and I for one will never forget it.

RIP the tragic 96, my thoughts are with their families on this awful day.

Hi Guys
I'm a Manchester United fan and a football fan that is why I think its important that the football world comes together and remember the 96 courageous people who went to watch their team and never come home.
As much as United is in my blood I recognise that both our great clubs have gone through a tragedy that has affected us all so as much as our rivalry is intense we have quite a lot in common.

Nice one Bazza, much appreciated.

Hello again

On a special day like today I honestly can't believe 3 people have hit the disagree button.
Personally I don't care about those 3 people because there's thousands more decent Liverpool and United fans and today is about 96 unfortunate fans and their families not 3 persons.

Bazza The Red

Hi, eds. I don't know why you allow people to register disagree when they are paying tributes to the 96 who tragically lost their lives that day

Few points to make.

Carragher will definitely take up a coaching role of some capacity with us. Maybe not next year, as Macca seems sure (as do others) that he'll be working for Murdoch over on Sly; which will cost him a lot of respect from a lot of Liverpool fans. He will return one day for sure though.

Another thing i'd like to say, is R. I. P to the 96. Justice is coming.

Harry Scousser, are you feeling okay. You seem. Happy!

I understand poeoples frustrations. We go on a 4 game winning streak, outplay City and Arsenal with just one blip vs West Brom in that period, then drop to 1 loss and 2 draws in 3 games just as everyone was looking at European places again. However this season has definitely been a season of growth and people are quick to say that Coutinho and Sterlnig are young and will improve, but fail to realise that Brendan Rodgers is about 20-30 years youngers than a lot of managers in the Premier league. He will improve tactically as well, and don't be surprised to see major improvement next year.

I know for a fact he won't go to Sky. I've been saying this mate. It's a small world. I don't know what he will do but it won't be sky.

Because Sly Tv is owned by the same man who owns the S*n newspaper. They are also notorius for showing Liverpool in a bad light in the media. Why do you think Kenny was so hostile towards them? And yet he just got ridiculed, even by some on here for looking like a nutter in interviews. He was there on the day. He went to nearly every funeral. He saw the pain. It ruined his life, and it ruined Liverpool. Its not Coincidence our domination ended just after Hillsborough. It sent shockwaves through the club, and everything came unstuck. And Murdoch played a massive part in taking away the Justice those fans deserved. I'm still pissed off at Redknapp, Thommo and Souness for the Sly punditry. Carragher is not immune to criticism just because he's been here nearly 30 years.

A lot of options for cb personally I would choose 2/3 of the following:
Richards - RB or cb quick and strong
Dede - CDM or cb quick strong and world class
Ogbonna - lot of interest but very pacy great tackler

Could get all for around 10/15 mil so two would cost about 25 mil, would prefer the top two a they can cover other positions and let's face it there Both tanks tbh but Richards does suffer from injuries regularly

saw the everton chairman talking in lfc tv, this man is class act

Apart from the fact he won't sell up and is running Everton into more debt. {Ed001's Note - how is it his fault? He brought in a number of exceedingly rich investors, all of whom claimed to love the club and said they would back his dream of turning Everton into a force, none of whom then backed him. Well, except with the loans that have put Everton into debt. Kenwright is not to blame.}

Hey ed001 just wanted to get your views on young McLaughlin he seems an excellent prospect, do you see him replacing GJ in the RB slot in the next 2/3 years?

AsianRed {Ed001's Note - yes, so long as he works hard and doesn't get too big for his boots. Personally, I wouldn't have minded seeing him get a few sub appearances this season, especially the last few games, when Johnson has been poor. It helps to remind players, no matter who they are, that they are replaceable.}

He dives in he needs to jockey players and hold them up and let his mates get back and cover before he tackels

Ed001,

Do you think Benitez winning the Champions League in his first season was the worst thing that could have happened to Liverpool in hindsight?

Sounds a bit mad saying that, I hope Ed001 might know what I mean when I say that.

Apples '96' {Ed001's Note - I know what you mean, I suppose it could be seen that way, in that it has left fans' expectations higher than the quality of our squad can achieve. Plus it has left far too many unable to accept that Rafa isn't some sort of messiah. Overall though, no, I don't thing it was a bad thing, long term. Short term it will continue to cause issues, I agree. Hopefully, whether with Rodgers or not, we will return to the Champions League and put ourselves back in with a chance of fighting for titles in the next few years and stop the pining. It is difficult though, Rafa is so desperate to come back, it is a hindrance to any manager.}

People seem to forget that we won the FA Cup a year later, and were extremely unlucky not to win the Champions league the yearafter that, when in my view were were the better team in the final. So expectations were not built on one game - nor were Benitez's achievements confined to ine game. Which is why I named my son after him - and now suffer the pain of having a son named after a Chelski manager!

Ed001 can you ever see him coming back at all or won't the club allow it? LMC {Ed001's Note - I really can't see him coming back.}

15 Apr 2013 19:05:20
Why blame Benitez for other managers failure to achieve the standards he set, the truth is our teams isn't bad as many think, if you compare player to player with teams like Arsenal or everton or spurs etc then we have a very good team compare to them and yet we fail to finish above them, Rodgers needs to look at himself before finding excuses after excuses. {Ed001's Note - really? Dreamer, we have had dross left by Rafa to clear out for years, yet you are still living in this fantasy of him making us great. He left us on the verge of administration, due to his overspending on crap players on ridiculous wages. We are still suffering and still clueless people want him back!}

I hope not please god I no at the start he done grate but spent to much money and messed up at the end!

Oh ed u r bas*trd man u and fergi media as* puppet, the last think them 1 want is Benitez back wer he belong, becose they know Benitez and FSG, will b a perfect team, did u c how was the refree attitude yesterday semis, and Saturday arsenal match, is only on conclusion pressure on Benitez, no wait that the same Benitez hu made fergie pis* on his pant and went to the media to clean it. {Ed001's Note - are you really as stupid as you are making yourself look?}

Cheers Ed, don't mean to point it out as a negative winning the biggest trophy in europe but it seems that no manager will be as good as Benitez in some persons eyes and people can't move on from 2005. It doesn't help him throwing occasional un subtle hints that he wants to re-manage us again, just gets the Rafa bus revving.

Apples '96'

Also you seem to forget the team of 2008/9 were probably the best Liverpool side of the past 20 years.

Evered {Ed001's Note - that were held back by Rafa's negative tactics until it was too late.}

Great comeback to the person ed (3 posts above).

I have always been a Rafa fan I understand that a lot of fans don't want him back which is understandable and are entitled to think so he was far from perfect, alienating players, making poor decisions in the transfer market and annoying alonso.

However I do feel he should get a bit more respect from eds and fans. After all he loves the club clearly won trophies gave us a squad that deserved to win the title and donated money to Hillsborough families

And i'm sorry to disagree with you ed but if rafa did one thing right it was his tactics

YNWA {Ed001's Note - his tactics were appalling! It was like watching paint dry. Sorry but that is not what I want to watch. It was little different from Houllier, everyone behind the ball and look to hit them on the counter, boring as hell.}

Not the most attacking football granted however we got results more that can be said of rodgers (and no i'm not suggesting we should sack him and replace him with benitez immediately)

Besides the little I've seen of chelsea far from boring semi final fa cup what a great game

15 Apr 2013 17:17:26
why is everyone saying Christian Ericksen won't come. yes we don't have champions league football to offer but at 21 its not like he'll never get there with us. we're currently a team on the up. if we can sign his clubmate Toby Alderweireld to shore up our defense we're a promising team and one of the only out there that can pretty much guarentee first team football. look at players like modric and nasri, they chased the money and now aren't getting a sniff of the consistent football needed to maintain form.

that being said. JFT 96. YNWA

Completely agree slim hopefully Danny Agger the man with YNWA tattooed on his knuckles will have a little chat with Eriksen too ;)

AsianRed

Carlsberg could help.

We're currently a team on the up
==========================

Can you back this statement with any sort of stats or facts.
Few years back we were top 4 team playing CL football year on year. In the last 2 seasons we were in Europa. next season we won't be involved in any kind of European football. For the likes of Ericksen and their agents, this is not the form of a club on the up, quite the opposite in fact. That is why many in here including me think that Ericksen and co won't come. particularly someone like him who have other options available to him.

Don't forget suarez ex captain (if he is still there of course)

Today is not the day for talking about potential new signings or about how the season has gone. It's about remembering 96 loved ones who didn't come home 24 years ago. The courage the families have shown throughout that time is nothing short of inspirational. I could not have more respect for anyone as I do for Margaret Aspinall and Anne Williams. Two of the most courageous, brave people you are ever likely to see. The work both have done, and the way they have conducted themselves in the process is truly brilliant. It is on days like this that you start to understand that we are more than just a football club. They picked on the wrong city, and they picked on the wrong club. Justice is coming, and I can't wait for the day.

i think were not too far away from having a very good squad. maybe 3/4 signings and top 4 next season is there for the taking. arsenal and spurs for example don't have that many players that would walk into our team. only 2 or 3 spring to mind so although there's obviously room for improvement there's plaenty cause for optimism :]

3/4 Signings?-that have to gel!-I think it's more. But assuming your correct-that's still a fair way off. All have to be attainable and a success. And going by others Brendan's bought that is by NO means a certainty

Agreed is it a big if. but as long as there an improvement on what we have then we can keep going forward and progressing. I do believe were not far away though tbh

Some players need time to gel, some dont. For Torres, half a pre-season was enough. For Hendo and Downing, it was about 18 months. For Coutinho it was 18 minutes. Enrique played a great game the day after signing for us. It all depends on the player - signing 3 or 4 usually means they won't all be immediately top effectiveness, but at least some of them are likely to and the others can be bedded in slower. The chances of us having 3 such hard matches as United, City and Arsenal in the first 5 games against aren't huge

15 Apr 2013 15:41:23
Hi Ed's, can any of u tell me if we should maybe think of a new manager? If so, who?

Cheers

Rodgers isn't going anywhere, we're rebuilding/restructuring for a successful future. if you want instant success but long term failure go support Chelsea or man city, have patience and believe in the project.

How long would you say in your righteous opinion is long term success. Chelsea have been a better side than us for the last ten years. I love my club, LFC, I will support them till I die, but I am not buying into Rodgers being the new messiah and showing us Liverpool fans how football should be played. Kenny got a couple of things wrong last yr, but he gave us pride as well as get in there moments. I have not seen anything this season to Compare with Our cup wins against City, Chelsea, Utd and Everton. I will support LFC and I hope Rodgers brings success, my honest opinion though is he won't.

He gave us the smallest trophy we can compete in. What part of the millions of missed chances, the 8th place in the league and the not even showing up to an FA cup final until the 70th minute and 2-0 down gave you pride? Much as I love Kenny, he shouldn't have been given the post and he did not do well in it

The fact KK came in when we were in serious trouble and needed to get an instant reaction is completely different to BR's long term building plans to be fair.
Look KK's side got some great results against the top teams, something we have not reproduced this year, and we will never know what might have happened if we had backed him and allowed him to build his team?
The fact is why has it allways got to be black or white on here? Why can we not see that both offered something and the board have decided on a change of direction.
It's the past anyway move on, we are were we are now.

15 Apr 2013 17:52:58
But Rodgers even failed to deliver the smallest trophy, rodgers even failed to deliver minimum target europa league, Rodgers even failed to beat teams above us except Spurs who are going downwards,

2nd half of the season we were very close to everton, Arsenal and spurs, and Rodgers spent 25M compare to Arsenal or everton or spurs and now they are miles above us and even europe is out of equation, if we have improved 2nd half as many of you say then how come they have left us that behind, how come europe is beyond us? Remember we were only 3 points short of Champions league and went on spending 25M, is this a progress or Rodgers tinted glasses.

We are talking about Rodgers compared to Kenny. I was full of pride going down to Wembley 3 times last season mate. Yes we know he finished 8th and he paid for that with his job. You say he won the smallest trophy we can compete in, You are saying we shouldn't take it serious, We knocked out Chelsea and Man City to get there. I am old school mate when winning any trophy was something to be proud about.

I don't care what any one thinks Rodgers hasn't took us forward like one poster says we were right on the cuspe of champs league and then spent money were no were near it now we done rubbish in all cups everyone has to face it Rodgers isn't the man for the job doesn't have plan b or different tattics for me I would love rafa back he loves this club he had a bad 18 moths out of five for us and the bad time was when he was fighting the old owners trying to get them out let's not forget he took us to number one in Europe does any one remember those famous nights I do look at are youth system yes all down to him all the exciting youngsters again down to him and I for one think he has done a good job at Chelsea under the surcomstances so for me there is only one man for the job in rafa we trust

mike {Ed001's Note - oh god, get over him, he had no plan B either. It was defend deep and counter, but that always gets forgotten. He nearly destroyed the club by overspending, nothing to do with feuding with the owners causing the issues, that compounded it. Added to the fact that he told everyone the club's private business all the time.}

He gave us the smallest trophy we can compete in
==========================

Which was enough to get us into Europe.

I was singing YNWA three times last season at Wembley stadium. Was I Proud of my teams achievements in getting there? Bloody right was.

15 Apr 2013 21:03:22
Rodgers is a micky mouse manager can't be compared to kenny who is the most successfull manager after shankly and paisley in our history neither can be compared to rafa who has a Cv which makes Rodgers a Complete mini mouse manager.

15 Apr 2013 15:13:43
its time to stop all these outlandish transfer targets. new rules on financial fair play means there isn't much money to spend. over a 3 year period only a loss of 105 million is allowed, it was reported that if it was in effect this year, only 4 teams would have fallen foul of this. chelsea, man city, aston villa and Liverpool. that means that Liverpool have to reduce significantly, not spend. unless the rules start with a clean slate and disregard all financial figures up until start of new season. {Ed002's Note - It is rather more complicated than that.}

As Eds answer says-Aint that simple. There are possible ways around these restrictions also

From myself and everyone in my band 'The Filthy Rich'

The travelling fans who made their way,
across this land for a special day,
Went hand in hand to see the boys in Red,

With a sunny sky and not a cloud,
The Anfield men had done us proud,
Across the turf where Shankly once had led,

Then in a heartbeat cries and yells,
Just filled the air like ringing bells,
Our help was needed, every boy and man

The ones who should have given more,
Just turned away and locked the door,
To leave our loved ones struggling in the stands.

To see the faces of the few,
And people lost for what to do,
Was nothing short of agony for all,

We helped them out as best we could,
we watched them drenched in sweat and blood,
yet still the men in power failed to call,

The loved ones gone without a sound,
Will always live within our ground,
As memories of what this clubs about,

Youll never walk alone we say,
we pray for them most everyday,
We hear them as the kop begins to shout.

They lied to us or now we're told
This country and its greedy soul,
They tried to take our pride as well as fans

But stick together's what we'll do,
We'll show them that our Red is true,
And never let them beat us not a chance.

YNWA Justice for the 96. Everyone should remember and never forget, Always in our thoughts.

Lovely gesture by United releasing the picture of the 96 names and how they stand alongside their 'great neighbours' at this time. Really does show that some things do transcend rivalry. Hopefully they know us real fans have the same humility and empathy in regards to the Munich tragedy.

With Rogers coming out saying he wants quality signings to take us to the next level anyone think he will get them players like Erikson or even mertens in my eyes these are quality we need unlike say Williams who were also linked with hope we're in for a good surprise

Not a hope of eriksen or mertens coming!

Erikson and Mertens will want Champions League Football, they will not be joining us because of this and we will not get close to Champions League Football while Rodgers is the manager.

Fair enough then you do you's think Rogers "quality" signing will be?

He will probably pay a fortune for Williams and Ince. These players are average at best, but that's all we can attract these days.

Carra on a twenty year contract, god help us, la la la cccc

Williams lol, no seriously I think he (williams) will come? But the quality signing will probably be a player like bony

Awh no ill keep living in dream world that we will sign someone like suarez because to be fair we didn't expect him to be as good as he is so you got to have faith

I'm worried because the borini signing was going to excite us and allen is the welsh xavi, god help us.

Sorry lads, I think we are going in the right direction and the future looks really bright, with a few more signings I don't see why we can't challenge for the title next season!

Allen ( when his baby sleeps through the night without wanting a fed ) and Borini will come good to all you haters

A big thank you to FSG for saving us from administration and becoming extinct, can't see why people criticse them IMO!

IN BR I TRUST!

That better for you lads?

Fantastic Waro pms

We need rid of Henderson, Downing, Johnson, Shelvey, Borini, Allen and Skertel …and oh …the manager as well … then we will see progress.

Now does that really meaan we are in pole possition or wishful thinking? Take care eds and have a nice 1. Bye. No way would he lower his standards and join lfc! The player clearly has ambition? surely?

Hearing lots of rumours of Liverpool and arsenal battling it out to sign iker casillas as he has fallen out of favour with the chosen one and with the signing of diego lopez? One to watch I think?

15 Apr 2013 10:48:47
If expensive mediocre players continue to be bought. Liverpool will stay a mid-table mediocre team, or worse.

What were FSG thinking about, employing an untried and tested manager?

This site does not reflect the feelings of the fans, the silence at Anfield does.

Mandarin

Can you see top players seriously wanting to join lfc?

Top players will want to join LFC if they see the club is going in the right direction.

The question is are we going in the right direction?

Wild Woulfe McBain

Top class players won't want to join a club like us

Suarez wanted to sign coutinho signed sturridge signed just need to show New players were ambitious have some faith

When suarez signed it was a slightly different story! And could soon be off? Sturridge isn't a quality player! And the jury is still out on coutinho

How was it a different story?
Jury all agree Coutinho is class and I bet when sturridge signed scored goals before his injury I bet you write up on this he was class!

15 Apr 2013 23:22:28
sturridge was out of contract in june so we could have had him on a free but br paid £12 million plus add ons for him another tranfer kitty depleated as for all these transfer targets were is the money coming from for them only suarez leaving for £40 million will get us those funds what do you think fellas

Just a thought. Someone further down the page was suggesting the need for someone like Thommo to be brought in to help motivate the squad and drum into the players and new signings just what it means to play for Liverpool Football Club. Would it not be the ideal position for the retiring Carragher to fill? I can't think of a single person with more football knowledge, passion for the game - esp LFC who could fill such a role. He could even help coach in some capacity, and maybe spend some time periodically with the emerging youth players to help them stay grounded and focused on the ultimate goal of making the first team. It'd help him get on the coaching ladder, keep him involved with the club he loves and I can't see why it can't be flexible so he could combine it with his rumoured tv work for sky.

Do you not think the likes of carra and stevie g do that anyway?

Second poster as a teammate you would have to show more discretion in putting over your points. As a member of the coaching staff you would not feel you were treading on eggshells as much as Team Harmony would become an issue. To O. P yea Carra be ideal

15 Apr 2013 10:31:16

Strange how we don't buy the sun but it's apparently perfectly acceptable to go and work for the owner?

Houllier a clown? Houllier transformed our club from the spice boys tag into a proper side that won trophies, granted the football wasnt always pretty to watch but he got results. My God, short memory

Am hoping Carra plays on for one more season, even if its for just 20/25 games, we need his leadership, keeping everyone on their toes.

15 Apr 2013 23:47:48
Fowlerisgod football is about opinions and I believe Houllier spent a rubbish load of money on very poor additions and cost us a litle we would have won if Roy had have stayed. ok he won that treble 2001 and came 2nd 2002 but that's it for all the money he spent the crap french players he brought in the anti not Liverpool long ball tactics. You call roys team spice boys, the team roy had 96 97 was far better than any team houllier put togeather imo. Tommy Irish Red

This is the only place I see people who are happy for Rodgers to take his so called vision into next season,
Ive not seen anyone face to face (and I know a lot of fans by the way) that want him in charge after this season,
Strange, seems his main followers are on here!
Im divided personally and think if he stays then the transfer window will be massive for him when it comes to sink or swim. anymore 15 million pound average players and i'm sure FSG will be wanting answers.

Dude I agree, His signings out of 5 only one has justified the pricetag and has clicked.
But He would have learned the lesson. and believe me he is the man to take us forward.
we will compete next year. remain confident and patient.

I agree except on this forum I have not seen much Support for BR.

ED002 has a point its at least one job too soon for BR.

And that's if the job was ever right for BR and many including me think BR will never be up to the Job of LFC manager.

Time is not the issue Direction is the issue and we are not plouging a fertile furrow.

Listening to the Wisps that fly through BR's head is great but unfortunately these soundbites from BR and reality are not the same thing!

Reminds me of a song " one of these things is not like the other, one of these things just isn't the same, can you guess which BR statment is not like the path we are following before I finish my song"

Wild Woulfe McBain

How many fans do you know then? How many have you seen face to face and had this conversation? What would you consider a fair representation?

The things that I would like to put to the detractor's are the following -

Who exactly do you want to replace BR as manager?

If the replacement manager doesn't get us in top four in first season then what?

McB

No doubt Rodgers has to deliver next season. I agree with most that the excuse that is transition is bandied about far too much. Experienced international players shouldn't need a whole season to adapt to changed made.

However, I am fully behind BR and has been since the moment he was made the manager.

Harry, first of all, BR has bought in 7 player, not 5.

Out of those, Yesil is one for the future and will be featuring with the reserves atleast for another year.

Sahin and Assaidi will be classified as failures; Sahin has already left and Assaidi will leave this summer.

Sturridge and Coutinho has definitely made an impact and has contributed to this season.

Allen and Borini divides opinion and like BR, they will have to deliver next season.

This is the time to believe and support the manager and the players.

The real AG

One thing I would like to change next season is that we don't keep getting players quoted every week reeling out the same old nonsense. I've read more opinions in the press from LFC players in the last 3 years than in the entirety of our most successful period.

I agree with what the o. p. said though in that any more average 15m signings and fsg will be asking questions. Personally I think BR has next season at least but if we are too far off cl places by christmas I wouldn't be surprised to see him go. I hope he does succeed because then we are all happy together.

McB

15 Apr 2013 13:40:07
i think borini will come good eventually but I think allen is good enough only to make it to our bench. one thing that will definitely go against BR will be his summer transactions when he had the opportunity to get a director of football but he refused. maybe our summer acquisitions could have been different.

Yeah let's change the manager every season.

15 Apr 2013 09:15:47
Gerrard position has been in a great dillema recent times, some want him to play in the deep lying role, some in the perfect CM.
But for me gerrard has to play with suarez and countinho.
he is deadly going forward, can shoot at distance, will spread the pass and has good control over the ball and is excellent in leading an attack.

If he is assured of two class players behind him in the heart of midfield like alonso and mascherano,
steven gerrard is as good as any other ACM in the world. would fetch atleast 10 assist and 10-15 goals a season.

His eye for the player and shooting is still the best.

most of the goals Liverpool scored this season has come through him.
he links perfectly with any striker.

Gerrard's problem is inconsistency in his performances. He has been a mixture of poor, very good and average throughout this season. Though I will get hammered for even daring to say this.

15 Apr 2013 10:04:41
If you analze the second half of most of the games. gerrard would be fantastic, because most of the times Liverpool fails to score in the opening period, BR releases gerrard to further upthe pitch and he just bombs forward and plays excellent.

I think he has reach 10 assist and 10 goals were he is playing at the minute.

I think he has reach 10 assist and 10 goals were he is playing at the minute.

Yes and that's exceptional from where he is playing.

Why change his position again? he has 10 goals and 10 assists this season. Also, his delivery from corners and free-kicks has been poor for a while now and he doesn't score as many goals from distance as he used to or by bursting into the box like he used to.

Either way, he has stayed clear of injuries (probably down to his position btw and the excellent work the medical staff have done on him and Agger) by playing a deeper role and I think he should stay there, if he were to play at a high-level as I don't think he can do what he used to at the intensity he used now by playing further forward.

The real AG

15 Apr 2013 13:32:55
gerrard initially played in the advanced role but he was not getting involved in the game that much plus he is little old now so he does not have that energy. BR obviously realized this and than played him deeper where he has been amazing. on the downside he has been so good that he kept out sahin and allen who were bought to play deeper and they were not that effective in advanced role.

15 Apr 2013 09:04:00
If Ancelotti comes to Liverpool, would there be a chance that he would want reunite himself with ray wilkins?

15 Apr 2013 09:03:48
Hai ed great work. highly aprreciated.
Lots here moan we were excellent under KK and we have been poor under BR.
I admit to some extent.

But what did we had last year to cherish, A carling cup after 120 mill spending, we were horrible in the second half of the seaosn.
KK game plan was old school boy.
He wanted to build a Liverpool team arounf andy caroll. My god.

But Under BR we are playing really better, Infact with excellent football, let's be honest.
Most here would be amazed, Harry scousser being possitive.
His game plan is pretty good, he is an attack minded manager and believes in goals.
But most of the time he buckle under pressur, If Liverpool doesn't score a gaol in the early period. BR just gives up and expect the luck to change the game rather than his tactics.

He bought playes to play in 4-3-3 formation, Buts his best games as a manager came from 4-2-3-1 formation.

His signings have been poor, But he is a good manager, not the very best in the world,
But he can take us forward, and he will.

He knows his mistake.

He knows, most of here knows we won't have big money to splash in the summer.
he needs to find the diamond under the earth crest.

But If BR can get me another 2 countinho and 1 suarez, keeping the other one with in the club.

Then we will challenge. I am 100% confident we will challenge for atleast top 4 next seaosn.

I am aware we are in need of Strong CB, but on its day agger and skertel is one hell of a partnership, Its just the confidence, Probably the first goal.

Liverpool Defence have looked rock solid when we scored the first goal, No one even come close to our back line when we are on fire.

I would also expect caroll and downing to move, which will fetch atleast 25 mill all together.

I would also like to give skertel another year along with agger.

two new CB will atleast take an year to settle into our team.

Lets find another couple countinho, and one more suarez and we will be Untouchable.

IF BR can get frankensteins monster and a ham and egger!

You do write some utter claptrap Mate.

Kenny was much better than BR and at least with Kenny your were proud of the manager.

Who can be proud of BR? What has he done? Please list BR's achievements.

He talks the talk alright does BR and I am sure he has not just kissed the Blarney Stone but made love to it on a regular basis.

Wild Woulfe McBain

15 Apr 2013 09:55:05
What exactly is KK achievment.
a so called carling cup which would have given us 5 mill in prize money
or his extra ordinary vision of playing a typical 4-4-2 with andy caroll up front.
get a grip mate, have you got any clue which big clubs plays with this formation?
he took a Liverpool side down and out from Hodgson and the only thing he could do was to improve.
we are still hit by his transfer dealing of over 80 mill which is wasted.

and boy from 16th to 7th isn't an achievement.
there are only 7 top clubs in EPL. and lverpool under KK finished last in that list.

we are always better than stoke and west ham and west brom.

and where is KK now, which top leve club has hired him?

I wish some people would show kenny some respect, he has done more for this football club then anyone so stop insulting espicially on a day like today, no one could have done more for the 96 ypou should be ashamed of yourself twit

chrissy

15 Apr 2013 10:54:22
Dude. No one would disrespect KK. he was and always remain a legend, the best No. 7 Liverpool ever produced. one of the finest player of all times to play for our club.
Lets also take this opportunity to show some respect of our current manager and players.
There is absolutly no point in comparing BR with KK.
both different manager. differnt game plan, different aspects.

15 Apr 2013 10:56:13
Rafa benitez. always rememberd for the charity for the 96.
Probably the only time he cried was when he was appreciated for the support to the 96.

From Harry Scouser
"KK game plan was old school boy.
He wanted to build a Liverpool team arounf andy caroll. My god. "

Kenny is the third most successful LFC manager in the history of the club only behind the great Shanks and Bob.

Do you know what Kenny has won in trophy terms its much more than a league cup?

And beyond trophies Kenny has won the Hearts and Minds of ALMOST every LFC supporter with exceptions of course.

You think your statemnt above is respectful to Kenny?

Well do ya Harry?

And Mate you have not listed BR's achievements? What are they?

You want to give BR time because you buy what he's selling but you are happy Kenny's gone!

Wild Woulfe McBain

Where is KK now, which top leve club has hired him?

Well Harry each time you post you show you don't understand football or the people in it.

Kenny does not want to be a manager of another club he's gone back to semi retirement only being a part time columnist.

15 Apr 2013 06:28:45
A schoolboy holds a leather ball
in a photograph on a bedroom wall
the bed is made, the curtains drawn
as silence greets the break of dawn.

The dusk gives way to morning light
revealing shades of red and white
, which hang from posters locked in time
of the Liverpool team of 89.

Upon a pale white quilted sheet
a football kit is folded neat
with a yellow scarf, trimmed with red
and some football boots beside the bed.

In hope, the room awakes each day
to see the boy who used to play
but once again it wakes alone
for this young boy's not coming home.

Outside, the springtime fills the air
the smell of life is everywhere
viola's bloom and tulips grow
while daffodils dance heel to toe.

These should have been such special times
for a boy who'd now be in his prime
but spring forever turned to grey
in the Yorkshire sun, one April day.

The clock was locked on 3. 06
as sun shone down upon the pitch
lighting up faces etched in pain
as death descended on Leppings Lane.

Between the bars an arm is raised
amidst a human tidal wave
a young hand yearning to be saved
grows weak inside this deathly cage.

A boy not barely in his teens
is lost amongst the dying screams
a body too frail to fight for breath
is drowned below a sea of death

His outstretched arm then disappears
to signal thirteen years of tears
as 96 souls of those who fell
await the toll of the justice bell.

Ever since that disastrous day
a vision often comes my way
I reach and grab his outstretched arm
then pull him up away from harm.

We both embrace with tear-filled eyes
I then awake to realise
it's the same old dream I have each week
as I quietly cry myself to sleep.

On April the 15th every year
when all is calm and skies are clear
beneath a glowing Yorkshire moon
a lone scots piper plays a tune.

The tune rings out the justice cause
then blows due west across the moors
it passes by the eternal flame
then engulfs a young boys picture frame.

His room is as it was that day
for thirteen years it's stayed that way
untouched and frozen forever in time
since that tragic day in 89.

And as it plays its haunting sound
tears are heard from miles around
they're tears from families of those who fell
awaiting the toll of the justice bell.

Brought a tear to my eyes mate lovely that.

Why do you come here Waro if all you do is to put down the persons?

Would your time not be better served solving more pressing problems of the world like the financial crisis or nuclear fusion?

15 Apr 2013 01:33:08
Liverpool will not move for Ashley Williams. He is 29 and therefore too old to be signed under the Rodgers era. I see Howedes, Dede or someone more unknown to be signed.

Yes they will

15 Apr 2013 00:58:50
Seeing a lot of people comparing Kenny's season with this one. If it's not an improvement in football/technique/everything-about-the-game you want then I accept that - you just want results and aren't really seeing them. But have a look at the table at the end of the season and how much closer behind 4th we'll be, despite - arguably - the improvement in all the teams involved (bar Arsenal, obviously). We might not finish in a significantly higher position, but the gap will have closed a lot. We were well and truly mid-table last season for the first time, it can't seriously be said of us this year.

15 Apr 2013 09:06:38
dont worry mate, We are almsot there, we have the momentum, we have energy, apart from all, we are Liverpool fans, we will challenge next year.
BR will make us dream once more.

15 Apr 2013 00:46:51
Not really sure how the scouting system works exactly. do Liverpool have scouts permanently based in different part of the world, or is it a small network that travels extensively? Do we for example have a scout based in Brazil? It may seem common knowledge, but I bet many would pretend to know but really haven't a clue, so I figured I would just ask the experts! Thanks again. {Ed002's Note - Typically there are a number of people that a club retains or employs regarding the "scouting" of players including a permanent Chief Scout and a perhaps a Head of International Scouting who all will report in to the club via a Director of Football or whatever. There is also be a guy who co-ordinates all of the reports and ensures that they go to the correct person. Obviously no one at the first team level is going to see or be interested in any reports related to kids so there is a hierarchy that deals with young kids, potential academy players up to the first team squad. There are then scouts retained by clubs in specific countries and/or areas of the world - France, South America, Adriatic & Old Eastern Bloc, Iberia etc.. On top of that there will be freelance scouts (often ex-referees and amateur club staff who will stay within their particular area of expertise and region). Once a player has been looked at a couple of times and reports reviewed, then someone from further up this chain will take a look. Eventually a chief scout will take a look, or if it is a potential first team player, then perhaps a coach or manager will take a look. Some clubs have advisors which include, taking one EPL side as an example, ex-managers.

Liverpool has a someone based in South America (Argentina - but he covers the who continent.}

Eds I asked before if owners took note through P. R people of fans opinions and moreover care? ie these forumns. But should of also asked doLFC players and staff?Not being sarcastic, genuinely interested in your reply {Ed001's Note - I know of a fair few players that do look at what is said online, not sure any would visit here, though it is entirely possible as we have had contact from clubs regarding stuff that has been posted, with legal warnings to take posts down, in the past.}

Wow Ed what an interesting response, please give us a bit more info about stuff you have had to take down, I'm sure I'm not the only one dying to know!
DT {Ed002's Note - Clearly we can't do that.}

Ta Ed {Ed002's Note - One thing that the owners of Liverpool do is retain a research company to summarise what is being said in the press and other media, on fans sites and foums such as these on a regular basis.}

Why post disagree? Mind boggles-Aint a statement! Some numbskulls

The FA Cup game between City and Chelski must be the first one run by two billionaires, with 22 millionaires playing on the pitch.

How on earth do the managers motivate 22 players who are so rich its untrue and have everything they could ever want?

The cash they get today is ridiculous, the Tommy Smith used generation used to play for £250 a week.

And yet it was one of the best games I have seen for a long time - fast - entertaining - crisp - agressive - end to end football - hardly any dives - or rolling in agony - maybe they just enjoy the way they play the game - I certainly enjoyed watching it -

i think we are much better with sturridge playing in the middle of the front 3. when suarez starts there he roams all over and doesn't get into the box enough and sturridge is out on the right which means when we get into good crossing positions but we have nobody in the box. sturridge is 6 foot 2 which means he should be able to compete in the air and from what i've seen he could be a poacher. couthinho has been brilliant out on the left which is why it was a big surprise why he didn't play there in the first half yesterday. hope we do not sign williams he has no pace.
