at the moment who would you say is the top 5 countries in the world producing the best talent?i would guess at:
spain
argentina
france
germany
brazil
DORSET RED {Ed002's Note -

Definitely not france...

Spain
Uruguay
Argentina
Germany
Brazil
Italy

Belgium?

Besides Lukaku and Poirot what good has came out of Belgium -McMenemy

Hazard kompany and witsel and defour ain't bad either

Spain
Holland
Uruguay
Germany
Italy/Portugal

Cuchulainn's Hounds

No particular order:

Spain
Germany
England
Uruguay
France

Red Ollie

It depends how you look at it. If you look at the players individually you can't look much past

Spain
Argentina
Germany
Holland
Brazil

I think these players off the best skilled players and the most complete players.

If you look at teams produced you would have to say,

Spain
Germany
Italy
Uraguay
Holland

Those teams are the most complete units I believe and play the best football together.

Two different angles on it, most technical players or most complete teams. Do you want a bunch of skilled faggots that don't work for each other and give up after they concede a couple. Or a squad of decent players that scrap and give all every match for 90 mins. Obviously a blend of both would be the best solution but the hardly ever happens. That is why we should count ourselves lucky with having both the Spain national team and Barcelona to watch at the mo. two of the best teams to ever play the game.

Ed
Do you know if the team stays together in a hotel the night before a home game, like they used to ?
Or is that not the modern way of doing things ?
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - do you know what I don't know, I had never thought about that, I know Kenny has always done that in the past. He certainly still did that at Newcastle, I will ask tomorrow evening about that, well unless someone else on here knows for sure.}

Aye ed. I think us punters just want to be reassured that the lads are not using up their precious energy reserves, y'know what I mean *wink wink*
Or, if you're Jay Spearing, you don't stay up to watch Men & Motors at 3am.
But seriously it would be interesting (well, slightly) to know. Cheers.
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - now you have mentioned it I am interested to find out, won't be able to ask before tomorrow though sorry. Hopefully someone on here will be able to answer it before then anyway.}

I was thinking the very same today. Passed Melwood at about 18:00 and although roads were strangely gridlocked Melwood was very quiet.

Dirks Engine Room

The great Leeds team of Don Revie used to spend their Friday nights together playing bingo and carpet bowls in their hotel.
Lol, can't imagine that happening these days.
The Real KB

I dont think they do stay at hotel for home games as they all turn up in there cars at anfield at about 11ish then get on the coach to go to melwood

Fergie is extremely relaxed before tomorrow... I'm sure that's him on Come Dine with Me.

14 Oct 2011 20:30:44
My team for tomorrow would be:

---------Reina------------

Kelly---Carragher---Agger---Enrique

---------Lucas---Adam------------

Bellamy---Gerrard------Downing

------------Suarez-------------

With Bellamy and Downing switching through the game.

But I think it'll be:

---------Reina------------

Kelly---Carragher---Skrtel---Enrique

--------Lucas----------

Kuyt----Gerrard------Downing

Carroll----Suarez

Then again though, it could be something else. Somebody has got to give way for Stevie and I think it'll be Charlie A.

Maxi could be a good shout in these games too. Jesus....I don't know why I bothered. The good thing is, we've got options and depth. Come on you red men. Can't wait.

14 Oct 2011 19:51:46
Hey ed's, will Agger be available for tomorrow's game? And also, is Gerrard a possible starter? {Ed001's Note - Agger is meant to be available, but he tends to be a slow healer so I am not going to get my hopes up that he will play. Gerrard is very possible as a starter, he is certainly fit to play.}

I had to bookmark it to watch later, I have a problem with my internet connection so watching anything online is extremely frustrating!}

Thanks mate (DORSET RED)
this is most definately one the best video's posted on this site ever.
what a change 1 year has made, this time last season we was on the brink of administation. dodgy ownership issues + the court battle.
now if we win tomorrow we will be JUST 3 points behind the current pl leaders and last seasons champions.

hats of to john henry, tomorrow it will be exactly 1 year since he took ever, how sweet would it be to celebrate with a win over the manc's

I still remember friday,march 12th 2009 when i told my manc friends that we were gunna hammer them 4-1. I got the usual "we're invincible at old trafford" response. We all know what happened two days later. Im getting that same feeling now. I think we're gonna see a very open game tomorrow and we're gunna give them a 5-2 hiding. Sounds crazy i know lol.

hey eds i had this question in my mind ..it seems liverpool will have warrior sport instead of adidas next year (warrior sport is paying 25mil nearly double then what adidas pays liverpool) but wont that affect marketability of shirts in asia and africa where there are no warrior sports store or liverpool cafe where as there are a lot of adidas stores?.......................red indian {Ed001's Note - the idea is to use the deal to get Warrior products distributed all over Asia, so no, I doubt it will.}

The reason we ditched adidas is they were not promoting lfc gear as much as other teams in their stores, so thus their market reach was not helping us. The fact is that we have a truly global brand and our gear sells every year regardless of form and should be promoted that way, not just whem its profitable for adidas or when we're in good form.

Sorry Ed's, I have quite a lot on my plate right now work wise, so haven't enough time to check back through previous posts. Could any of the Ed's do me a small favor and briefly sum up what Ayre has been saying/wanting recently? I would appreciate it.

Thanks, James. {Ed001's Note - he was just talking about how he wants the club to have a cut of the money that overseas broadcasters pay to Sky and ESPN to show the games abroad.}

14 Oct 2011 17:52:19
hi eds all reds i couldnt get a ticket for tomorrow could anyone suggest somewhere with big screen to go with my 6yr old son come on redmen

Currys or Comet.

Wow you lot are helpful to a red in need. Don't really know mate the only time i go to liverpool is to see a game.... carragher's bar has loads of tv's in it so ud get a good view, whether or not they allow kids in there is another problem - i don't know.
I'm sure someone will help you out eventually {Ed001's Note - it is the kid that is the problem, only thing I can suggest is a family pub, some of them show football and they won't object to the kid.}

Hate to admit it but for the first time I agree with Slur Alex about the importance of the LFCvMU game. His comments were considered and correct. Without the rivalry the EPL would have been peanuts.

ed do you rate moussa sissoko as i think he is an excellent talent.if we were too follow up our interest would he be interested to ply his trade in england or rather stay in france.DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - yes I do rate him, I would like to see us get him and he has indicated an interest in a move to us.}

I've tried to see him in action but never get to see French football. Any idea where we may b able to find decent clips of him in action? I kno YouTube ain't great but even it hasn't got much on this lad.
Jason {Ed001's Note - try a few streaming sites, there are a number that stream French matches live.}

Sounds positive then ed.only seen bits of him playing but always buy him on video games all round talent.would you say he is similar in style to momo sissoko.DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - not really, more skilful than Momo was.}

Ed001 has Sissoko indicated the interest in Pool alone or to the Epl in general?? I rate him highly and would love to see him come to UTD.... HERBIE {Ed001's Note - both mate.}

Dorset Red he is like Vierra in a way.... He can play as DM, box to box and he isn't scared to get forward, whoever gets this fella will be very lucky cos he's gonna be a star.... HERBIE(MUFC)

every match he started in the league we won them. The three matches he didn't we lost 2 and drawn 1.

Kelly is a must in the line up for entire season.

Does anyone else think like me and think the atmosphere at Anfield for the Liverpool v Utd games is ten times better then when the same fixture is played at Old Trafford.VITOR

Yes.... Anfield has the best atmosphere, this coming from a UTD fan.... HERBIE(MUFC)

I mean no disrespect when I say this, but smaller ground, tighter seating, closer to the pitch then yea, I support neither team, but from the sound on t.v it does sound more atmospheric?

ed 0001, i was wondering where macca has been, The last piece of news from him was back in aug. I was wondering if i we could get a update on the stadium refurb or new stadium. {Ed001's Note - I have no idea where he has been sorry.}

So Man Utd claim to have over 300 million supporters worlwde, but why does this not translate into massive additional revenues.
So one has to ask, is it real support. Sure everyone has heard of the Iphone, but not everyone has one, nor has the means to acquiring one.
300 million fans, what a load of crap... Its just "cult of personalty" stuff!

Iam from India. Here there are atleast 10 Manutd fans for every 3 LFC fanc. Most of the Manutd fans know only that they win league but they even dont know the number 19 famously used by Manutd fans. If LFC starts to win then there will be more fans than Manutd.

Just look at how much money united make per year compared to liverpool...

Also like to add, i read recently that overseas fans spent 100m a year to come and watch united.

Hi Eds.
I have been following the posts regarding LFC's commercial rights (outside the UK) and statements by Ian Ayre with interest.
I was wondering just how many broadcasters Skysports sell the games on to internationally.
I fully agree with Ian Ayre.
After all if one looks at the music industry, each time a artists song is played on the radio, the record company and artist receive royalties, so why should this not be the case for LFC games broadcast outside the UK!. This additional revenue would greatly assist the continued growth, development and expansion of the club.
Optimisation of International revenue and additional revenue streams, is vital for LFC going forward!.
Shankly's Red Army.

{Ed002's Note - There are 99 separate contracts covering 177 countries although many of these are handled via Rupert Murdoch's NewsCorp, who own BSkyB, or ESPN. The contracts regate the payment of royalties of course.}

Hi ED002, many thanks for the additional information.
Best regards and take care.
Shankly's Red Army.
PS here in South Africa, all the EPL games are broadcast by Supersport.

Here in Australia every game for the seasons covered aswell as FA cup etc, covered on Fox Sports.

Big game tomorrow chaps.... Hopefully no injuries and no dodgy ref decisions.... I know its gonna be a great atmosphere as it always is at Anfield, may the best team win.... HERBIE(MUFC)

Ferguson interview today on SSN:

"That's (hostility) never going to change. But I think both clubs need each other to be honest with you," he said.

"The history both clubs have should be appreciated by both sets of fans. That's sometimes annoying when I hear silly chants about Munich, about Hillsborough, I don't think it does either club any good at all because, without each other, there wouldn't be the English league.

"If it came to a stage where fans were banned from each other's ground, it wouldn't really be the same game. So we need each other in that respect.

"The respect, in terms of the history of both clubs, should be adhered to and hopefully we can see that because it's a fantastic occasion. For fans to see these games, the intensity, the rivalry, looking out on the football field, at great footballers. To me, it's the game of the season.

It's not often I agree with Fergie on pretty much anything but think he is absolutely spot-on here. These are without a doubt the biggest games in the league each year - it's the first fixture I look for when they are published. You really cannot beat this rivalry and passion and it rarely fails to live up to the occasion.

JRG

I'd wish you good luck Herbie, but you'd know I don't mean it mate!

Personally I'll have no complaints about the result if we play like we did against Spurs, even though I'll still be gutted.

I fancy us to get a win tomorrow, but like you I hope there are no bad ref decisions to ruin the game- unless Rooney gets sent off in which case it's fine! lol

I just want to see us get the rewards if we turn in a good performance against you lot, like last time.

Either way, this is going to be a cracker.

Herbie, best of luck tomorrow and im sure we will be chatting (respectfully) aterwards.

Honest to god text banter between me and a bluenose associate! (Me to him) Bad news guys,Everton could be in trouble with the f.A after coins were hurled at liverpool players during the merseyside derby! Good news though,Everton now have £4.21pence for new signings! (Him to me) I don't know what was worse,throwing the money at suarez or the sight of B.Kenright on his hands and knees after the game! I had to laugh! Welshboy Dave up the reds!

Hi Everyone,

I was just posting to say enjoy the football this weekend guys and girls! Getting used to beating united in style over the years is a feeling i couldnt imagine being without and im sure the red men wont fail to deliver.

Just on the poster who stated "Newcastles support is bigger than Liverpool's" bla bla Fact bla bla. I mean, 10 out of 10 for belief, but lets face it.... Your not are you. No doubt, your local support is terrific, I have been to St James's park when living in Hexham and its was a lovely experience.. But on a worldwide scale our support elcispses a few topless Geordies in the winter. Sorry to break it to you, but thats "FACT" my freind.

So with that cleared and "Sir Alex x" attempting to patronise fellow Liverpool posters the only thing left is my prediction. With my only fears that United are due a win over us, im staying positive and feel if we can score first then we will make it very difficult for united to be back in the game. For those going to the game like myself, lets push on and be a twelth man. Lets show who the best support in the country is.

2-1 Liverpool with Pony tail to deliver another big game goal.

Enjoy,

Adzii

Let them score first, makes coming from one down and beating them even sweeter

I dont think "letting" them score first or at all is really the aim of the game. I guess beating United full stop is sweet but gettign a clean sheet would make it sweeter for me.

What's this I keep hearing about the premier league being the most competative league in the world? It's rubbish. 1920's 7 different winners, 30's 6, 40's 3 (only 4 seasons played due to war), 50's 6, 60's 8, 70's 6, 80's 4.

Then the prem started. In 19 years we have had just 4 winners. United 12 turn over out strips everyone, Arsenal 3 times, Chelsea 3 times massive financial backing, and Blackburn 1. Massive financial backing.

With the expception of 3 years the biggest spenders win the league regardless of where the money comes from. In the last 16 years only 3 different teams have won the league. In that time 4 different teams have won the Spanish title.

As for the myth that in the premier league any club can bet any other. Over the last 10 years the English champions have lost a total of 38 games compared to 49 in Spain. That's including the fact that arguably the greatest team ever assembled has won the league the last 3 years.

Truth is since the start of the premier league competitiveness has depleted year on year. How can a team go an entire season unbeaten and still call the league "the most competative?"

Truth is Ian Ayres idea might create a bigger gap between the top and bottom but will create more competion at the top making it more difficult for Chelsea and city to financially dope the league

Huyton Red

Those facts are quite suprising good work although last year it seemed like all sorts of teams were beating others i dont think it was the lower teams getting better mainly the top teams were poorer last year but it seems to be normal service resumed this year i personally think we should be allowed to pursue any avenue that can make us more competitive as we dont have oil sheik owners it will at least let us level the playing field a bit good post huyton red
giblet

Arguably the greatest team ever assembled? That wouldn't be a very long argument. Duckula

Congratulations on a highly informative and enlightening post, Huyton Red. I had suspected that those claiming that the Premier League is more competitive than leagues such as the Spanish League were likely to have been victims of media hype, but your post provides some valuable evidence in support of this view. Some analysis of the increasingly heavy scoring that appears to have been occurring in the Premier League during recent years might be equally revealing.

Red Owl

Nice work huyton red, ive been saying this all over the site but you have more facts to back it up.

Huyton Red, your facts are undeniable, but you've used them to come to the wrong conclusion.

The 4 winners the PL has seen since its inception has represented a huge decrease on the average number of winners per decade. So ask yourself, what changed when the PL was set up?

Well, the key change is that before the days of the Premiership, gate receipts were shared equally between all clubs in the football league. This mean that clubs with fewer fans earned, over the course of a season, very similar amounts to clubs with more supporters. This encouraged competition and made it possible for teams like Nottingham Forest to win the title in their first season in Division 1.

The clubs (including Liverpool) which broke away from the old Division 1 to create the Premier League did so because they wanted to keep their own gate receipts. This created a culture of the rich and successful teams staying rich and successful, while the rest of the league struggled to break their stranglehold.

Ayre's proposals are similar to those that were around at the inception of the Premier League. From a club like Liverpool's perspective, it could be argued that it is a fairer system for clubs to earn more money if they have more supporters, just like it could be argued that it is fairer for clubs to keep their own gate receipts. But, in practice, such steps remove the competition from the league, and alienate smaller clubs.

Is sorry ed. but I have got to agree with recent post concerning best supported teams in england at this moment. It does read Man U, Arsenal, Newcastle so stop slagging off the guy who posted it. {Ed002's Note - The problem is that the person who wrote the original post is well known to us as a nuisance and disillusioned Northampton Town supporter. Not only is most of what he says nonsense written to induce a reaction, he then responds to his own posts before getting a ban for a couple of days so he can consider the error of his ways.}

Ed - surely it's just the same guy again backing himself up from a different IP.
Surely there can't be two people in the world that think Newcastle and Arsenal have more fans, even in the UK, than Liverpool.
Just because they have bigger stadiums means absolutely nothing, and to suggest as much does nothing but highlight the poster's ineptitude.

The only way you can tell how many people in the uk support a given team is by how many Newcastle or Arsenal fans you meet floating around, compared to how many Liverpool fans. If this guy thinks there's more Gooners and Geordies then he's clearly a hermit, and he definitely doesn't play in a five a side league.

I'm not bashing those clubs, they clearly have lot's of fans, but more than Liverpool? WRONG. He's deluded by his jealousy.

I live in the south, and there's as many Reds down here as there are Gooners, and you hardly ever see a Geordie.
I lived in Bristol for years and you'd always see a packed house for a Liverpool game, whereas the Newcastle and Arsenal games you could quite happily do pilates in front of the screen without anyone asking you to move.

I notice the poster didn't say Flamengo have more fans than man u. That's the inevitable conclusion that he's going to draw. But seeing as he's clearly a man u fan on the wind up he'll conveniently forget about that bit.

Would Arsenal or Newcastle have invaded Istanbul like we did? There is no possible way.
Or is he suggesting those were all foreign fans?

Duckula

Within the realms of true support and not someone who follows a team because their winning or because he likes the colours, arsenal are not the best supported team in london! this is not who walks around in their tops because some of them couldn't even tell you who plays for them and where their based! The top three most knowledgable and loyal /hardcore fans are united, liverpool & spurs!

Even spurs fans are on the band wagon,the truly loyal cockney team is west ham

As a spurs fan, west ham are without doubt the third best supported club in london, there the only cockney team in london btw, and as for DUCKULA , where in the south are their more reds than gooners? Don't say london and surrounding counties cause that makes you sound like a complete k.nob

mate being a spurs fan I wouldn't expect you to see anything outside of ur own colon anyway, but Basingstoke mate is where I'm from, and also if you could read you would notice I said "as many", not "more" - the point being there are not vastly more gooners round my way - there are abut the same as Liverpool fans, maybe a few more but only marginally, and that's technically in Arsenal's back yard compared to Liverpool.
You think there are anything like as many gooners in Liverpool?
If you go to any pub round here there will be as many people at a liverpool game in the pub as there are Arsenal fans for their game.FACT. If you disagree with that you've not been here.
CERTAINLY there are more than at a spurs game.
I look like a knob? Mate ur a spurs fan trying to make out that you're in touch with the spirit of greater London - how misinformed can you be EVERYONE in London hates spurs apart from spurs fans, so how could you think you're so in tune with the masses?
How many people do you know? Clearly not many if you haven't met any reds around London. It's probably more likely that they just don't talk to you because you're insignificant and needlessly belligerent.
If you've only ever been to places where there are more Arsenal fans than Liverpool, then clearly you've never left London. In which case what are you doing chatting as if you know the south personally?
I challenge you to find more Arsenal fans in Basingstoke than liverpool fans.
Or in Portsmouth or Southampton, or Brighton or Exeter or any of the south coast cities. It's not like there's the odd red and loads of Gooners trotting around everywhere. There's man u fans everywhere, then a pretty even spattering of Liverpool and Arsenal mixed around.
Oh no sorry I must be wrong because clearly you know the south like the back of your hand.
Trust a Spurs fan to not understand that just because the three people you hang around with all support Spurs doesn't mean anyone else does.
Small minded people with the lack of brains necessary to extrapolate their own opinions to the entire population without any evidence other than their opinion. i doubt you could even find your way out of London you moron.
Certainly don't try and tell me I don't know what my own experiences have shown me you muppet backstreet boy.

Just been looking at KKs transfer dealings at previous clubs and here are some frightening facts: At Newcastle he sold the likes of Ginola, Beardsley, Ferdinand and Asprilla and bought the likes of Guivarch, Andreas Andersson, Pistone etc (no wonder he got the sack). Since he has been in charge of Liverpool he has bought the likes of Carroll, Henderson, Adam . . . . . . frightening!!

He aslo signed Barnes, Beardsley, Houghton, Staunton, McMahon, Aldridge.... your point?

Richards

Not to mention Shearer when he was in charge of Blackburn.

And he also recommended Zidane to Blackburn chairman but the response was that they had Tim Sherwood ha!
{Ed001's Note - there seems to be confusion about his time at Newcastle, as a number of his players from the time have told me personally, he was told to cut the wage bill as the club had no money. That is why he was selling so many players and bringing in cheap options.}

Best supported teams in England:
Man Utd
Arsenal
Newcastle
FACT!! {Ed001's Note - the same Newcastle that were struggling to get 6000 fans in the ground before Keegan took charge? The same Arsenal that only built a 60k stadium because they didn't feel they could fill any bigger and are not selling out that? Clearly you are talking nonsense.}

Thanks ED 001 .

Best supported team in England,

Liverpool FC

I think the poster , should have said clubs with the biggest grounds, he isn't looking at the bigger picture, just because you have the biggest stadiums, doesn't mean you are
the best supported

Deano95 {Ed002's Note - The best example being Queen's Park Football Club of Glasgow.}

I think the best supported teams in the League are Liverpool and Stoke.

Afternoon Ed002 first time poster on Liverpool site, most of your reader won't know that Little Queens Park play at Hampden Park Glasgow (capacity 52,000 but get gates of only 1000)
My team is Celtic and if you are naming best supported clubs mine ust be up there, we also have a bigger fan base abroad than most big English EPL clubs Neil T

Why are you all arguing with him he put FACT at the end so it must be true

Arsenal had one of the lowest attendences for a first division game against leeds , it was 4,554 , ok it was 1966 but that shows me the mentality of the arsenal fan , they have had great sucess since and they are a very civilised and sporting club but our fans are there through good and bad years .

i feel best team for saturayda is:
Reina
Kelly Carra Agger Enrique

Johnson Gerrard Lucas Downing

Kuyt (Carroll or Bellamy)
Suarez

Subs: Carroll, Henderson, Bellamy, Coates, Doni, Adam, Robinson

I really feel johnson should be played on the right straight away because he has got the attacking ability with pace and kelly also on the right to cover defensively with pace, charlie adam should be left out until 30 mins to go if we are losing. kuyt and suarez upfront because they worked well against man utd. RedTurk

3-4-2-1 will be good. you need strong midfield to stopr nani, young. and quick attack Gerrard , Jhonson is master of it.

I see our owner in one of this mornings papers has said he was not sure KK was the man for the job at first. He has also stated that some of the signings (Carroll, Henderson) were a gamble and as now have not come off.

JH want Young Maneger. Like Vilas Boas. but he think its not justic to Kenny. as he did well

I see Ian Ayre is becoming isolated in wanting to sell our overseas rights and so he should be. What this really means in a nutshell is that overseas companys will have to pay more, if so they will demand more, and soon the likes of tomorrows match against Man U will be played in places like Malaysia or China and not at Anfield - do we really want that?

I think this is alarmist nonsense.

I rather not look at him at all.

i read n article recently which says Man Utd r most suported club in the world with 375 million supporters and liverpool only 7th with only 71 million fans,got pissed aftr seeing this,it was inTALKSPORT.please reply ed.
INDIAN SCOUSER {Ed001's Note - why worry, Talksh*te do just that, they are full of it, these figures are always complete fantasy. There is one team that has any kind of facts to back up these claims and that is a Portugese team. They have the most members of their fan clubs around the world, which gives them the only verifiable claim of the biggest support. How the hell can you decide who is a fan otherwise? I mean I wouldn't call someone who just prefers one team but never watches them etc a fan. Yet these figures count those fairweather fans in their figures.}

So who makes these incredibly accurate assessments then? Certainly i don't recall Talksport asking me who i support, do you? And you do realise the only reason this is even a story is because it makes Man Utd look like the biggest club in the world.

This is all just some joker who will have taken someone else's really broad assessment, and then tweaked it a bit to make it sound official and to suit his agenda.

So Man utd have 375 million supporters. That's a very conveniently round number to my mind. We all did rounding up at school, where do you think they rounded up from? This is a very round number - 375? Or, three and three quarters.....yes it certainly seems like an accurate figure doesn't it. Each of those 1's represents A MILLION people, so even if you rounded it up from 374 you are still attributing a million extra people to the man utd cause.
And who the hell has EVER accurately worked it out anyway? This is no more accurate than if i asked my mate how many Man Utd fans there are.

People need to wise up and stop thinking that the media know any more about football than you or I do.
Even if someone HAD accurately counted the supporters, the media would still twist it to their agenda.
As it is, this can only be based on either a complete guess or some completely pointless stat like how many Man utd games were watched in pubs around the world.
Fine, that would make sense if Man utd didn't get EVERY match on tele whereas everyone else gets only the occasional matches shown.
Let's say Man utd have 100 million people watch their 10 games shown. Liverpool have 10 million people watch their 1 game shown. Therefore man utd have 10 times as many fans. It's right there in front of you, 100 million watched man utd, only 10 watched Liverpool.
That's not accurate stats i know I'm just showing you how they butcher the truth so readily.

Also it's worth considering how many Man utd "fans" have never seen them play (even on tele) and only say they support them because the media have told them that everyone else does. People like Unity, if someone comes to you and says, which do you prefer, this beautiful, glorious brilliant one, or this horrible, stinky, useless one, chances are you're going to be swayed by their opinion.
In short, as far as any argument with man utd goes, the media are just another man u fan that can't offer an objective opinion.
With fans, I'd much rather have fans famous for being quality people and a good laugh than have LOADS of basic, easily manipulated sheep.

Sorry ed i launched into a tirade before I'd read ur bit. In which you basically said everything I said, just much more concisely. Duckula

Grateful for the reply ed and DUCKULA
INDIAN SCOUSER

Didnt we pack a stadium in asia during a training session that Chelsea and Arsenal couldnt even half fill during their respective matches?

Sorry if I seemed aggressive Indian Scouser, but any media based put downs of Liverpool make my brain flip out immediately. Couple that with butchering stats to make their point and it's game over for me.Duckula

Caster troy...don't know where you're info for a 70000 seater stadium is coming from but unless they have upgraded the infrastructure around anfield without telling anyone it ain't going to happen. They are currently looking at the stadium prior to the yanks redesign, ie 60,000 seater bowl. Not saying this will definitely happen but money is being spent on investigations into it. Don't ask how I know!!

14 Oct 2011 07:20:42
Wow good so everyone's fit then, for tomorrow. Right here's my starting XI

Reina
Kelly Carra Agger Enrique
Lucas Gerrard
Kuyt Henderson Downing
Suarez

I would rather have Skrtel in or Carragher but it seems he's the first name on the team sheet so what can I say. Adam is too slow to partner Lucas, and can't tackle properly, so I'd leave him on the bench. The key to victory would be full backs. Kelly and Enrique. If they can stifle Young and Nani and support the attack, we should be comfortable. The reason for a 5 man midfield is so that we can overrun their midfield if they play 4-4-2. They're pretty weak in defence and midfield, we just need to exploit those weaknesses.

Keith YNWA

Switch Henderson with Gerrard and play Bellamy instead of Downing.

As much as I love Downing, I think Bellamy will really exploit United.

I really rate Henderson, but Adam might be needed to crack through United's defence.

Renegadered

I would go with Reina, Kelly, Carra, Agger/Skrtel (depending on fitness), Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Kuyt, Bellamy, Suarez in a 4-3-3/4-5-1. Subs - Doni, Agger, Coates, Johnson, Adam, Downing, Carroll

I really don't get it when mancs come on to this page and slate our owners.

Ok, so maybe Mr Henry and gang may not fully understand the ntances behind the culture and history of the PL and the club. But they HAVE done a lot for LFC in their short reign so far.

If nothing else, they'v cleared the debt and pumped in money for players.

And all this talk about tv rights and stadium naming are juz ideas to try to increase revenue for the club so that we can get better.

Anyone noticed that thus far, this search for increased revenue hasn't included rise in ticket prices and selling prawn sandwiches? To their credit, the owners have not tried to bleed the fans.

So the mancs come up here and diss our owners? At least FSG didn't borrow the money to buy the club and then leverage that debt back to the club. A billion US, no less.

Thank God for responsible owners.

Here's to a great win tmr!

Cheers!:-)

Singapore Red

I enjoyed this post, Singapore Red. It is interesting that during the Sky reports on Liverpool's ambitions regarding overseas television rights, the club were actually attacked for not maximising their gate receipts. In other words, in Sky's less than humble and very lopsided opinion, Liverpool should actually be charging us more to go and watch our team. As you say, it is fortunate that we have rather more enlightened owners than those favoured by Sky.

I read on here earlier that Samuel L Jackson and angelina jolie are Liverpool fans, this was the first I heard of this and was curious about other "celebs" are fans so I had a look.

What I found out was that......pope John Paul ii is a red!!
Apparently he was a big fan of jersey dudek.
Pope John Paul ii sadly passed away 1 month before Istanbul, now I have realised that what we all witnessed that night was nothing short of a miracle! The pope himself called in 1 favour from the big guy upstairs when he finally met him and it was for us to lift the famous giant trophy, gave dudek special powers for the night too (being his favourite player he would) lol

Think we should all give a chorus of you'll never walk alone this Saturday especially for "his holiness"

Ynwa John paul ii lol

Ashy

P.s amen! Lol

Lol that made my laugh but very true keep up the good work

Has anybody else received a letter today from Liverpool FC to say that if you want to stay on the season ticket waiting list you have to pay £5 by the 28th October or you will be taken off the list automatically & then they will let you know where you are on the list? I know it's only £5 & there argument will be that they are trying to reduce the list but if everybody on the list registers,basically what they are doing is charging you to tell you what number you are on the list which means nothing really.I went on the list a very long time ago & now suddenley they are charging???

I have to confess, I have not received a letter regarding a Liverpool season ticket renewal. If I had I would reply "go f*ck yourself".

I mean, why watch Liverpool when Tranmere Rovers are down the road?

Sir Alex x

And why watch Tranmere when that small club is just across Stanley Park?

SingRed

Hey Slur Alex, obviously you are at the wrong place in the wrong time!
Apparently Wayne is searching for you! Plz report yourself to him, he is missing you at the moment, Garry boy & Rio Ferdy are also there! Have some fun tonight! Don't be too naughty with the boyz! & be very careful with this Garry boy! Enjoy the fun tonight!

Chopman

I guess Tranmere are better to watch than ManUtd - even Sir Alex x agrees

Congratulations Ian Ayre, you have acquired the status of the new Garry Cook.

I honestly thought I would miss the oafish and arrogant declarations of Mr Cook, but along come Mr Ayre to take his place...brilliant!

Both considered they can win without respect and regard to competition, "welcome to Manchester" claimed the crass poster acclaiming Carlos Tevez, that's worked out well.

Both City and Liverpool's owners do not understand the traditions of English football. In fact Liverpool's owner, Mr Henry, didn't know about Liverpool FC, but admitted he was aware of another club in the north west!

Mr Henry's cynical Liverpool charm offensive is embarassing....like a burglar smiling as he steals your car!

Ayre has undermined Liverpool's years of OK reputation in one interview, declaring Mr Henry's selfish ambitions at the cost of the history of the collective and attractive competitive strength of the English Premier League.

I thought Cook could only be that crass, but I was wrong!

Liverpool FC and its supporters are now the absolute example of corporate football.

You mainly discuss your dislike for United for being too "commercial", but all you talk about is your stadium naming rights, TV income, your revenue and who you can buy.

There are 2 obvious reasons why Liverpool have been so poor in the last 20 years, and I will share these if you want, but it's not difficult, I'm sure if your honest, you can guess.

Honesty is the best policy!

Chin up mate, we could be owned by the Glazers. Who have been bleeding United dry, since they bought them. Or even worse, H&G could still be in charge.

This time last year we were in court fighting for our future. Now we have good reason to be optimistic, which your post clearly shows.

Thanks......

Blair Mayne YNWA

"No Brainer" Blair

United are brilliant despite the Glazers..thanks mate!

Sorry, forgo0t to sign my previous post
(Cook/Ayre) ...still can provide your 2 n obvious reasons why Liverpool are so carp in past 20 year..you and your "knowledgeable" fans may learn something from me!

Sir Alex x

You really are taking our 2-0 destruction of you at Goodison, pretty bad Alex. Don' t worry mate, you could get revenge at Anfield, that's if you're still in buisness of course.

Your true bitter, blue colours are showing through. lol

Blair Mayne YNWA

Typical bitter hiding behind mancs... is that you, Wayne?

SingRed

If you knew your own club well which you obvious don't, then you will realise that Man Utd have previously, and where the first to raise the the issue of the way in which TV revenue is distributed and declare that they thought themselves entitled to a greater share of the spoils. The point being is that it is entirely hypocritical to come on here and criticise LFC for something which your own team have previously tried to do. Idiot

Singred that's not Wayne he is getting his hair done tonight before the game

Don't reply to him as a Manc lad's he's a bitter , just hide's behind the name , just think " sir Alex the blue nose. " you live in are shadow an alway's will . K96 .

Wow I see people slating Kuyt again. Think about it. He was top scorer for us last season, and STILL in the starting XI of a Dutch team ranked 1st in the world.

Keith YNWA

Have to admit that in some peoples eyes Kuyt & Lucas will never be good enough to win the league. Lots of supporters have been won over by hard work and commitment over the years which makes up for a lack of ability, where as others can be objective. Kuyt may do ok for Holland in a team filled with skillful players, but at LFC he is one of too many avg nice guy players who are just not good enough to win things. I support them to the hilt but don't build them up to be the best around.

Chelsea got Robben, Arsenal got RvP, even Spuds got VdV.... we got Kuyt. Think about it.

Robben, RVP with their fitness issues down the years, and also Robben and VDV with attitude problems
