14 Nov 2016 20:04:47
Liverpool favourites to land Harry Kane if he leaves Spurs. How do the bookies come to this conclusion? Is there some connection or previous interest that I am missing? Just don't get why we would be favourites - I figured that would be united.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

14 Nov 2016 20:43:33
Wouldn't want him anywhere near us. In fact, I hope he goes to United and clogs up their forwards. Not terrible, but far from good.

14 Nov 2016 20:44:56
What they do is they go who could afford him 7 teams in England out of them who doesn't use a striker 1 team so they make us the most likely and believable for silly people with too many pennies in their pocket.

14 Nov 2016 21:05:27
Ha ha ha ha. A Striker from Levy's house 😂😂.

14 Nov 2016 22:26:13
Lol that's one of them daft stories, plenty more to come.

14 Nov 2016 23:12:10
Another Andy Carrol.

15 Nov 2016 00:15:09
Remember Klopp tapping him up in the 1st meeting when klopp arrived?

15 Nov 2016 00:15:54
I think its the 2nd meeting at Anfield when Kopp tap him. up.

15 Nov 2016 03:07:53
What are you on Lee?

15 Nov 2016 04:40:46
I have only ever made two categoric claims about football:
1. Torres would NEVER leave us for Chelsea, and
2. NO WAY will Leicester win the league.
Needless to say I am staying well away from this Kane story!

15 Nov 2016 06:41:31
Last I checked he was madly in love with Levi, don't see it ending soon unless the is some thing we don't know.

15 Nov 2016 07:55:40
I have it on good authority he's more of a Wrangler or Lee Cooper kind of guy.

15 Nov 2016 10:20:55
Not that I am saying it is going to happen, but anyone who says Kane isn't good enough is talking absolute nonsense or have no idea about football, he's strong, fairly quick (quicker than he looks), good in the air, works hard and bangs the goals in.

15 Nov 2016 12:10:14
He's just a lumbering target man who makes Aspas' corner taking look like Beckham. No thanks.

15 Nov 2016 13:09:21
I think people form the opinion of Ed001, don't get me wrong his football knowledge is second to none, and knows a lot more than me and most of the over reds. However when Ed001 says he doesn't rate a player, everybody jumps on the band wagon. Harry Kane may not be the most technically gifted striker but he knows where the back of the net is, in a Klopp system he would probably struggle but for most systems he's a very good striker. Another player is Lukaku, not the greatest touch in the world but again finds the net on a consistent basis, not every striker can be like Luis Suarez and in my opinion if they are scoring goals they are doing their job, which both of Lukaku and Kane do but aren't rates on this forum at all. No disrespect to Ed001 football is a game based on opinions but I think too many people copy yours because you obviously do have a lot more knowledge than the rest of us.

{Ed001's Note - erm I rate Harry Kane, so not sure that you are correct at all.}

15 Nov 2016 13:36:51
He is too slow for our style, too greedy, not versatile enough, and has a shockingly average conversion rate.

He is a good target man because he has quite good feet, will happily run the channels and get stuck in, and he always crops up in the box when loose balls drop. Honestly though, I think he is so over rated. He is an old fashioned centre forward. Spurs look better when he is not in the team if I'm honest. If they are having a fire sale though I'll take Son or Wimmer!

15 Nov 2016 14:54:59
Don't get me wrong I like the lad, I think he's a Damn good player. A transfer to liverpool? Never going to happen.

15 Nov 2016 15:25:17
Kane is a good striker and has goals in him but I don`t know if he would fit our style of play. Either way, I wouldn`t want him here as I prefer the boys we currently have up top (Studge, Bobby, Ings and Divvy)

15 Nov 2016 15:32:13
MK, I would take Son over Kane any day of the week.

Hull City Premier League season so far

14 Nov 2016 19:11:30
{Ed's Note - We have posted a new article entitled, Hull City Premier League season so far

Believable0 Unbelievable1

14 Nov 2016 17:04:30
Anyone's thoughts on the team for Southampton. I just can't see Coutinho and Firmino featuring. Brazil play in Peru on Wednesday. Then the long flights home. So no matter how fit you are, those flights are energy sapping.
Does anyone think they'll be involved on Saturday.
Gonna be a tough game, but hopefully we'll have enough to get the 3 points.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

14 Nov 2016 17:32:05
Yes I think both will play tbh. Do you ed?

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

14 Nov 2016 17:42:47
If Firmino doesn`t play any part in Brazil`s game vs Peru, he will definitely play if not start. Couts may come on if he plays vs Peru.

14 Nov 2016 18:44:15
Matip will start.

14 Nov 2016 18:45:18
Never understood people who say a flight means a player can't play/ saps energy.
Do you know pilots and cabin crew can and do work 60 hours a week?

{Ed001's Note - different kind of thing. Pilots and cabin crew are not professional athletes expected to be at their physical peak.}

14 Nov 2016 18:55:28
Flights can sap energy. Disrupts your sleep pattern, diet etc. Its not so easy to get back to your peak lifestyle immediately after. Does take a few days.

14 Nov 2016 18:56:10
Even still ed, I can't see how it would matter much, or mean a player having to miss a game?

{Ed001's Note - I don't see how it is so difficult to understand how someone flying long hours is not going to be anywhere near peak physical capacity. This is an era of sports science, when those things matter.}

14 Nov 2016 18:59:28
No idea who will start etc but if firmino and coutinho are rested can bring in sturridge, origi, or wijnaldum and rest both. Positive is have a good amount of depth in the squad.

14 Nov 2016 19:51:25
Long flights can stress the body in some surprising ways. Google "Steve Waugh DVT".

14 Nov 2016 20:12:07
Just my opinion, but if you are in your mid 20's, and you have had to sit (or sleep laying down! ) in a first class seat for 12 hours, and are a professional athlete, you should still be able to run around full pelt 3 days later. Obviously not an ideal training regime but come on, shouldn't be that difficult.

14 Nov 2016 20:28:32
Nick, professional athletes have trained their bodies to the fullest, to the point that something that looks not that significant can affect them as their bodies have been trained to be at excellent peak condition to for maximum performance levels. It is not as cut and dry as many people think.

14 Nov 2016 20:35:10
I am mid 20s, and in pretty good physical shape. (albeit nothing compared to top professional footballers) however i flew from south america to paris just over a month ago in a 9 hour flight and it killed me for nearly a whole week, it totally screws over your body clock and sleeping pattern, and no matter if you try to sleep on a plane, it will always be broken sleep, same goes for footballers. It does zap energy from you, I can't imagine having to go straight into training the next day and then play a very physical game of football a few days later against top top professionals, it is both physically and mentally very draining to do that. As long as both come back injury free then that is all that matters. can't wait for PL football to return. YNWA.

14 Nov 2016 19:16:17
Maybe it's just me ed. Lol
I hear people moaning all the time about jet lag after a flight from Spain or somewhere when I have just done 20 of them flights in 6 days. Haha
While I'm on the subject ed, I always have liverpool/ Everton/ United/ city etc players on my flights between games going home to various parts of the continent, some players always seem to be on, do clubs restrict how many times a player flies home? I don't think flying short haul makes any difference to fitness levels myself but the times of flights could do, I have seen players play on TV late sometimes then see them on a 5am flight the next day.

{Ed002's Note - Players would need to request anything more than a day or two off and clubs would be fussy if it was being abused. But if visiting friends of family on a day off as opposed to a rest day doesn't bother clubs.

However, players are expected to act responsibly.}

14 Nov 2016 22:15:00
They should get these lads a "human charger". I wonder if ed002 has one? Wonderful for jet lag. 👌.

14 Nov 2016 23:16:51
Or a Jet Wag.
To help them recover of course.

{Ed002's Note - The players are returning with a couple of others (Willian is one) via a chartered flight.}

14 Nov 2016 23:34:48
Have some of you guys ever been on a long-haul flight before? It is bloody disgusting. Not only is it bad for sleep patterns, but sitting on your arse for so many hours is not that good for you either, especially for athletes who need to be in prime condition. A private jet with reduced noise and comfortable seating for sitting *and* lying down is what they desperately need.

{Ed002's Note - Typically smaller aircraft are not quieter.}

15 Nov 2016 04:19:02
Oh dear - young people are so soft these days. They all need to harden up a bit if you ask me. I understand the concept of sports science but it goes too far sometimes. No wonder these players have no real future outside of the game - the real world chews them up and spits them out - delicate little petals that they are!

{Ed001's Note - it has got nothing to do with being soft, it has everything to do with the level the opposition are performing at. You can't get away with being drunk or off the pace, like in the past, as the opposition are too well prepared. The real world does not chew them up and spit them out either, no idea where you got that stupid idea from.}

15 Nov 2016 04:24:41
I wonder how many days in advance did they fly to Peru, to be able to play for Brazil.

15 Nov 2016 06:24:27
City, Chelsea and Liverpool football club will share a common private jet to fly their players immediately after the internationals.

15 Nov 2016 11:38:52
Jet lag isn't a condition pertaining to being tired from a flight, it's the body's internal clock struggling to adapt to a new time zone. There's only a 5 hour time difference with us and Peru, which isn't terrible but it does mean they're playing at 02:15 uk time. I don't care who you are, that's going to screw up your sleep pattern for a few days. Then there is the issue of what happens to your body on a long journey which everyone knows takes a day or so in its self to shrug off. Anyone complaining of jet lag from Spain is talking crap, they might be tired if they fly at night but it's not jet lag it's just the same as having a late night so your tired.

15 Nov 2016 15:52:17
I bet that Raymond verheijen will explain impact of jetlag if klopp starts any player who flew abroad this international break haha.

15 Nov 2016 16:04:56
Not if you get a human charger.

15 Nov 2016 19:06:10
What a joke. I am ex services yet we completed flights and expected to fight the enemy, and we had to be on top of your game and athlete fit. Do you think the enemy think to give you a rest because of jet lag?

{Ed001's Note - what has that got to do with anything? This is not a war, it is a game. We don't have cannon fodder that are expendable, they have to be in the side all season, so you take care of them.}

14 Nov 2016 16:27:07
Ed002 - have Liverpool or any other PL teams looked at Samu Castillejo?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - You need the European pages for these questions, but Arsenal spoke to Malaga about him a couple of years ago.}

14 Nov 2016 12:42:11
My ten pence on the European football debate.
Is it not circumstantial?
What I mean is, is the fact that we have a new ish manager and new ish players, or at least a new plan helped by the lack of European football.
So it would help us this year by not having it, but next year when team is more settled and drilled in the genius of klopp,
Ignoring the travel, it my help. especially if team is playing well in Europe. no realer training match than a European night at anfield?
More chances of rotation? Better hope for the bench squad?
Just my thoughts.

14 Nov 2016 11:39:04
hey edd002 enjoyed your podcast.
kills two birds with 1 stone i guess, stopping the same questions 50 times a day and getting new info out.

good job.
franky.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Thanks Franky.}

14 Nov 2016 13:18:36
Kills 50 birds with one stone.

14 Nov 2016 13:59:02
The evidence is overwhelming that young Sparky is being greviously mistreated, and is being held against his will in Ed002s underground lair.

#freesparky.

14 Nov 2016 16:17:59
Any idea when there will be another podcast ed2? I'm guessing maybe dec/ Jan when things get busier and when you have more time?

{Ed002's Note - Other clubs will get them this week.}

14 Nov 2016 18:14:50
Yes been meaning to come on and say thanks ed, although i was expecting to hear you NY accent i was pleasantly surprised with what i call a euro accent if such a thing exists. Also love the throwback radio advertising, thanks again.

{Ed002's Note - I am from the San Francisco area so there would never have been an accent of note, and sure as hell not a whining New York accent.}

14 Nov 2016 18:47:58
Strange how you say a euro accent as I find half of Europe sound American when they speak English. Lol.

14 Nov 2016 22:16:48
I thought we might hear from "Kirikou" and "the nose" as well as WDS. 😃.

14 Nov 2016 11:32:36
a question for ed002 if he about?
How does the special talent quota work for young players getting work permits work please? I may have the wrong end of the stick here but didn't we sign gruijic based on this rule? not sure if he been injured or anything but I don't believe he has made the match day squad for the past 3 premier league games. Surely this is against what we have said to the work permit application people? I know the season only early and he may need a settle in period but I can't see him playin the required games to qualify for a new permit. If this is the case does this go against us in future when we ask about another special talented kid for another permit?
many thanks for your time reading through.
kj.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There is no "quota". Klopp went along and said that Grujic would be a regular member of the team this season and the authorities bought it. If he is not used more his work permit will be withdrawn. Credibility goes with such behaviour.}

14 Nov 2016 11:50:44
cheers for the quick reply ed002 most appreciated. a follow on question if I may ed002?
do you think he will make the grade at lfc or can you see this being another major cock up of another young player lfc have made?

{Ed002's Note - H moved to Liverpool because of the wages and promises of Klopp that he would be playing regularly. At least a couple of the other interested sides would have lent him out.}

14 Nov 2016 11:52:49
On that note Ed02, He has so far played very less, Would the reserve games and U23 would count for the number of games played?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

14 Nov 2016 14:59:26
He still has plenty of time the season is still young, also he may still be settling in klopp may not deem him ready just yet, you can't remove a players work permit because the manager is doing what's best for the player in the long term.

{Ed002's Note - If he is not being played after commitments made they will indeed remove his work permit.}

14 Nov 2016 16:22:29
What happens if his work permit is removed eds? Would he still be a liverpool player or? I don't know how this stuff works. I hope the lad gets his chance, promising talent but when we got him we didn't need him imo.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, he would still be a Liverpool player.}

14 Nov 2016 17:04:59
Eds if we suppose send him on loan to another club in the premier league or outside it where he would get regular game time, would the work permit issue still stand? Just want to know what will happen in that scenario.

{Ed002's Note - It would possibly still be an issue in the Premier League as it would look like an attempt by Liverpool to work around the rules. Abroad would not be an issue - nor would playing him which is what promised everyone.}

14 Nov 2016 17:47:23
I think we should start him versus Southampton. Bit of a test for him, but Lallana and Henderson both played big minutes this week as well. Seems to me he could handle the pressure.

14 Nov 2016 17:27:56
Thank you. I just hope he gets some game time as I've liked what I've seen of him. May be as the season goes on and players get tired he will get his chance. Also just one more question ed, if we don't play him as was promised would the cancellation of work permit be the only consequence or will Liverpool incur and fines as well?

{Ed002's Note - When it has happened before just work permits have been cancelled.}

14 Nov 2016 18:45:54
If that were to happen ed002, what would the player do? Once a work permit is revoked, can it ever be re-instated?

{Ed002's Note - The club would send him on loan or sell hiom. They can reapply later but credibility goes.}

14 Nov 2016 18:47:24
Okay. Thank you for clearing that up.

15 Nov 2016 03:23:22
Didn't Sebastian Leto have his work permit revoked and we had to load him to olympiakos or something a few years ago?

{Ed002's Note - I think it was simply rejected.}

14 Nov 2016 11:28:12
Just wanted to say the L postcode sale is a marketing ploy. Tried several times to obtain tickets and sold out in seconds. I wonder how many tickets they allocate? It's obvious lfc, the business would prefer you to buy an extortionate membership for the odd chance you may get a ticket. All corporate now. My mate had no issues buying 2 corporate season tickets at +2.5k.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Nov 2016 12:22:59
i have the same issue. tried getting tickets in this sale with no lock so far.

14 Nov 2016 23:21:02
Is that 2 and a half K each or for the 2?

14 Nov 2016 11:10:02
My post has been taken down, did I cause offence?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no mate, my mistake, I meant to hold it for Ed002, as you asked for his input, but accidentally posted it instead. Ed033 has taken it down and held it for Ed002 for me. Apologies.}

14 Nov 2016 11:12:28
Absolutely no problem, I thought I'd ask. Also, very good work on the site Ed001 keep up the marvellous work.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate. Sorry for the mix up.}

14 Nov 2016 09:25:48
Gday, Eds. I understand when clubs with deep pockets are interested in our best players it's very difficult to stop them from leaving. But I for one really hope both Couts and Firmino stay for many years and win us shelves of silverware. Can't abide any of these idiots talking crap about Couts not being very good anyway and Can being 'indisciplined. '

So, my question is about Emre. Can you shed some light on why you're mentioning him as a possible departure, please? I used search and couldn't find where it was discussed. He's unhappy or what's the story?
Thanks a million, as always.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - If Liverpool add another central midfield player it would need to be at the expense of another. It is no more than that. The club cannot keep adding players without others leaving.}

14 Nov 2016 09:54:36
I don't think it has to anything to do with deep pockets. Successful clubs have money to spend, its no rocket science. Both the Milan clubs have new owners but wouldn't break any bank to buy any big names. FFP is a big hurdle for every club to manage.

14 Nov 2016 12:08:57
Ah I see. Of course, I know what you mean. But I'm a big fan of Can and thought Klopp was, too. Also, he's first choice atm so I thought it'd be strange to let him go.
Thanks for the response, Ed002.

14 Nov 2016 09:07:49
So much talk about the positive effect no european football has on our potential title challenge, but is this all talk? Has it ever helped us win a title before? The majority of title winning clubs in the PL seem to have also played euopean football when they won. Is it maybe just that we have the best squad currently?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

14 Nov 2016 09:27:51
I believe with the squad we have, we'd still be in the position we are in even if we were playing european football, when we're playing as good as we are I believe we could play as good even if it was 2 games per week.

To me it's kinda like saying, we get CL football next year we won't do well in the league, it's nonsense. Like you say 'The majority of title winning clubs in the PL seem to have also played euopean football when they won' Exactly mate.

Dont get me wrong I do understand people saying all we need to concentrate on now is the league due to no european footy but even if we did have it, it wouldn't change much I don't think, I think we have a fantastic team who are more than capable. If other top teams can do it we can do it.

14 Nov 2016 09:56:33
That was the only excuse we have had in past years to moan about. The midweek games and long travel. One game a week and we should be looking at the league.

14 Nov 2016 10:12:37
Two team's without European football top the league at the moment. I don't think it's the only reason, but it definitely helps.

14 Nov 2016 17:45:24
It helps BUT it is not the only reason as if it`s that was as cut and dry as many think, why is West Ham not winning the PL every season?

{Ed001's Note - because they would have European football if they did.....}

14 Nov 2016 20:29:35
Touche, Ed.

13 Nov 2016 21:27:35
Any chance bringing in Turan on loan eds?

Believable1 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - why would there be?}

14 Nov 2016 06:33:45
And why would we want him?

14 Nov 2016 17:46:48
He`s worse than he used to be and is also older with no pace (never really had any to begin with) so what would he be doing here and who gets to pay his enormous wages?
