To add on, I have probably posted the most today because the wife has given me the night off to watch the kids. I post when I can lad.

He posts when he can, he posts when he can, Big Al, he posts when he can!

Did I mention I post on weekdays?
;)

Eddoo1 reguarding alexis sanchez. You stated that it would be difficult to buy him without selling suarez which I agree with. However if we were to sell caroll, would that not aid sifnificantly with the fund? Edd how much would sanchez roughly cost. IMO, I think barca would be happy round the 22 million mark for a lad who is incredibly talented but has failed to really light up in the barca team. {Ed001's Note - but we also need to strengthen the defence first mate, then we have no cover for Lucas too.}

Ed could Gonalons/Lars Bender be an option for competeing with Lucas?
or are we likely to look at someone like Iturra? {Ed002's Note - Gonolons no and Bender no. Iturra seems more likely.}

Are we really badly broke.
We genuinely just don't look at good targets and its not like they are out of our price range. They would cost around 12 million pounds which is fairly good considering their quality.

And please don't tell me Defence is priority because we should more than cover the cost of any defenders with the sales of Skrtel, Coates, Spearing.

I have been posting for a very long time now. I do not know it all, no one knows it all. Boy I have my flaws when I support Liverpool. When we lose I don't take it well and my dinner ends up on the TV and the wife limits my reading time;
An unnamed poster which says it all stated that that I no very little about. the game to just give a comment' now lad that's just cheek and I politely gave the kid some info to hush his clear frustrations.
Kk77 my intentions on the site is to give an opinion whilst valuing others and answering the lads questiobs and giving any info I have. I hope if you read my posts you will reevaluate it. Thanks mate

Fair play lad, you were only giving opinions on what you see as a great future for Suso at our club. Real fans understand the quality this lad and the comparisons you were making between him, Xavi and Iniesta.
No point wasting time on the nameless posters.

Spurs get beat. 4-1 and a fan tweeted on the tv website, "winning games when we have played badly, shows our GRIT". Its that funny that I didn't laugh because my body didn't know how to respond' Hammered 4-1 by what every fan can agree is the worst inter team in years? GRIT, I would call that the away goal was a jail free card.

And we went out to who again?

We went out to Zenit who are actually a really good team.

And we beat who last weekend?

Just remember that coutinho couldn't get into that inter milan team

14 Mar 2013 22:10:30
Just watched Spuds scrape through their Europa tie with Inter.
Anyone else chuffed that they got through looking exhausted at the end and they'll have more games to play

Keep looking up

Not to mention they have
4 games to play still against teams in the top 7, I believe. If we take care of our business who knows.

And watch out for your end of season meltdown

14 Mar 2013 21:53:14
that torres pen lmao u just coundnt make this stuff up almost feel sorry for him

I don't feel sorry at all. you make your bed and you lie in it, no problem with him moving but the way he did it and the statements by him after the move mean that everytime I see him screw up I feel good.

14 Mar 2013 21:45:48
Ahhh, watching Torres in blue makes me sooo sad. I keep telling my self that I should not like him and that he is not good enought for us any more but. I just can't stop missing him for sake. It actually hurts.

I don't. We traded up for a better player

I'm embarrassed for you.

What? Andy Carroll?

MEF

Carrol can score penalties

15 Mar 2013 07:53:01
we never traded him for a better player.
if u are talking about caroll. then torres is miles better

I am assuming he means Suarez!

14 Mar 2013 20:24:56
The guv
Holtby would be a good addition to any squad, when he was at mainz, he was outstanding and we did show interest at one time. he's cost spuds 2million and is 22 compared to dempsey who is round 30 and was more than double that amount. Now I am glad we missed out on him, blessing in disguise in that we pursued sturridge further'

15 Mar 2013 23:31:00
Holtby is doing ok @ spurs & still settling! Dempsey like gylfi were bought as squad players! Dempsey may well be moved on in the summer

14 Mar 2013 16:42:41
Do any of the Ed's know much about this Iturra guy? Is he any good and what type of player is he?
Thanks. {Ed052's Note - Any player rating questions etc, are best asked on the profile page. And I haven't seen him play, but heard be played well last match}

13 Mar 2013 18:09:01
Hi eds, just curious about the summer signings, seems were interested in psg players, menez, gamerio and sakho. I don't have much knowledge of these players so just curious how you would rate them and are they worth going for? do they have potential and will improve the team? Also were looking at stefan de vrij, same as above what would you rate this guy as? Do you think we actually have a chance of getting them is well. Or should we not bother?
Cheers
SL09 {Ed052's Note - Any player rating questions etc, are best asked on the profile page. They're all very good players though. De Vrij is good too, and young}

14 Mar 2013 20:16:48
Xavi doesn't dribble past 3, 4 players. he is a passing midfielder and very rarely dribbles with the ball, clearly don't watch enough football to make a comment like that

Mate your being funny right? Do you know what dribbling is, xavi and iniesta don't stand still on the pitch. My brothers a footballing scout for Brighton Fc and I have watched the game for 37 years. I know abit about the game if you may put it. Maybe your what the young ones call a footballing person that secretly supports Stoke fc?
;)

Who cares that your brother is a footballing scout, you seem to be a bit of a know it all, seems that you have only started posting today & keep putting people down with your constant drivel. kk77

Utter Nonsense lol. The lads right Xavi doesn't as you call it dribble past 3 or 4 players.
He constantly plays one/two's, give and goes, Iniesta is the same but a bit more inclined to take players on than Xavi.

And the post said xavi doesn't dribble not iniesta, obviously can't read either

15 Mar 2013 03:47:25
what are u talking mate xavi is definitely not a dribbler he can drop shoulder and turn quickly but I have never seen him beat players he is a pass master. coutinho is a player who you can call a dribbler.

People always forget, Everton vs Liverpool back in October. Coates with header across goal, Suarez scores in the 92nd minute for the win 3-2. But linesman completely screws us, flags for a foul, when there was none whatsoever. That's 2 points more we should have, that's 47pts we should be on not 45pts, and 5 points off 4th. Rodgers is humble and won't dwell on it, but damn it with the run we're on now it could be crucial. If we miss out on 4th by 2 points I will never forget what should have been. RC

People always forget!? None of us have forgot.

Load of rubbish. Every team can point to an incident where they were 'robbed' of points. Suck it up and move on

Bad calls happen every year to every team. e have received some good calls along with the bad mate. You just have to hope that by the endof the season, they even out for all teams.

The linesman flagged for something, only, because every Everton player put his arm up, and that swayed him, now, that is something we should think about, I have noticed that we don't bother using that tactic, even though it does work,
redforever

It seem's everyone forgets about Enrique's goal vs the Swans, however all teams have their hard luck story. If we don't get 4th then it will be because we were poor during the first half of the season.

Didn't know Downing was reffing Spurs game.

14 Mar 2013 19:39:52
Spurs without Bale = Average
Tells you all you need to know about the boy really love him or hate him.

Liverpool would be average without Suarez so what's your point.

Spurs without bale aka tom Daley, are very average indeed.

Isnt our captain top assister this season? And we are 1 goalscorer away from beating our record of most goalscorers in one season

We are far from a 1 man team

Utter garbage! Different team ethics! Defending a three goal lead didn't expect them to get out of 2nd gear tonight, played a different formation, players missing etc etc

Guys there is no way to look past all the clutch goals that Suarez has had, whether goals or pk's gained. With our current squad minus suarez, we would be struggling. But most teams have a clutch player, bale, RVP, Ba, at Newcastle.

Before the Jan window we were a one man team, but not anymore

14 Mar 2013 19:33:24
Taffy tel
I watched a few of games back in the 2004 season when they were but are now in the spanish segunda level which is like the seond tier level here. I remeber pablo hernandez on loan at them a good few seasons ago when he was looking a real good player. Consequently both flores and hernandez of swansea now played for cadiz together. Its difficult to find cadiz fc matches now because of their status but when they were in the first division they were blooding real good prospects. No other team were playing such young players in the first division. Their scouting system has found some great players.

14 Mar 2013 19:30:01
Glad we weren't in for that Holtby fella, he dosnt look like he'd have been a man for our system to me. lazy

14 Mar 2013 19:03:04
Andy Carroll has about as much chance of returning to Liverpool as a Giraffe does of going to the moon by boat.

Where else would he go though? I agree we may not want him back, but he is under contract for 3 more seasons as I recall.

Fook me there's a Giraffe going to the moon by boat.

Funny that just booked my family summer holiday to the moon with P&Q £2500 per person.

14 Mar 2013 18:48:01
Ed what do you think to downing being left out of England squad? Personally think its a joke.
Also if Suarez doesn't win player of the year, the only loser is football itself. Still can't explain his Newcastle goal. Goosebumps. The sheer audacity he had to go round the keeper, the coolness, the calmness. He's a genius. {Ed002's Note - I have no opinion about the England squad.}

Messi does that every week

14 Mar 2013 18:36:26
Forget bale spurs best player is dembele, what's bale without his pace?

Stupid thing to say. Bale is class. You could also say that about any player with pace.

Bale is class. But he's not as good as Suarez

What's suarez without his legs?

No that's the stupid thing to say, messi would still be class without pace & there are plenty of class players with no pace. You seem to think I was questioning bale's class by saying dembele was better which was also a mistake

Slow?

14 Mar 2013 18:34:31
hi eds just a thought me thinks use should change the name of this page to the hokey pokey page with all these ins and outs when no one has a clue all I read in he's in he's out bull sorry I should just skip them bad day maybe

Hi eds/guys/gals, steering away from the day to day chatter, this is addressed to those out there who have read the book AT THE END OF THE STORM (book)its an account of the 1947/48 league winning season which I witnessed and enjoyed, my question is did you enjoy the book is it worth buying, and is their a photo of what I consider the best goal I ever saw ( ALBERT STUBBINS). goal in the snow. (GODIN)

14 Mar 2013 17:15:55
I think there will be a few changes in the summer. There will probably not be a great deal of net spend as we spend over 20m in January.

Outs: carra retire
Coates 5m
Skrtel 14m
Carroll (some sort of swap with Ben arfa as I think Newcastle will be the only club that wants him)
Shelvey 6m
Borini 8m
Assaidi 5m
Pacheco 1m
Morgan 1m
Downing 8m
Jones
Spearing
Flanagan 2m
Adorjan 1.5m

Ins: Ben arfa swap
Honda 5m or eriksen 10m
De vri 8m
Sakho 8m
Ochoa 2m

Squad:
GK: reina Ochoa
RB: Johnson wisdom McLaughlin
CB: agger de vri sakho Kelly sama
LB: Enrique Robinson
CDM: lucus coady
CM: gerrard hend Allen texxeria
AM: Honda suso coutinho
WING: Ben arfa sterling ibe
ATT: suarez sturridge ngoo

That's a young squad but it has quality in all areas and depth plus the kids should continue to get an opurtunity.

Thanks JC.

14 Mar 2013 18:16:36
Wouldn't sell Downing for £8m.

I'd also be very surprised if we got £14m for Skrtel, unless he goes back to Russia. £10m is more realistic, imho.

Is this what you managed to do on Fifa?

So Brendan Rodgers ( the actual Liverpool manager ) considers our squad to be too small atm yet you ( not the actual Liverpool manager ) think that some how selling 14 players and bring in 5 is improving the squad? R u serious? Leave it to the people in charge.

Gazman10

Sell adorjan? are you mad? one good reason.

14 Mar 2013 16:56:18
Big D
Instead of replacing Gerrard we should be making a new superstar and I see that in fernandez suso' Technically IMO he is the best on the ball. I have watched the lad since he was 14 at cadiz. Believe me that in two, three years time he will dominate midfield, the way iniesta and xavi can dribble past 3, 4 players in their own backline. The only thing the lad doesn't have is pace, he's fast but not fast enough to break though a defense however he has the ability to slice open a defense with his passing' He will be a great CM, love him as a player'

Out of curiosity how many Cadiz games did you see Big Al, and what other players in the team shone?

Xavi doesn't dribble past 3, 4 players. he is a passing midfielder and very rarely dribbles with the ball, clearly don't watch enough football to make a comment like that

He might do in the Fifa game and you'll get the fifa brigade to agree with but anyone that knows anything about football would know that Xavi is a pass master and not a player that beats 3 or 4 men. Ridiculous uneducated post of the day.

14 Mar 2013 16:33:41
Is Wilson out of contract with us this summer? {Ed002's Note - I think he is.}

14 Mar 2013 16:43:23
Coop
No honda is a player i'm sure we all agree would buy as an attacker/striker, but he likes set for Italy. I think the chance to buy him is well passes but in football you never no.

14 Mar 2013 16:34:15
Hey lads. Been away for a while. Why renewed posts on Honda? Is this fan generated or is there a genuine link? He is certainly talented, but this rumour is old and recycled.

Coop

Honda will be avaliable on a pre-contract in the summer as his current deal runs out around new year, which has sparked speculation that we might go back for him now that he would likely have either a reduced fee or be free for midyear

14 Mar 2013 17:53:15
Honda won't come at Liverpool especially with other teams who can offer him more and chance to win trophys, no chance Rodgers should continue buying young players maybe in 10 years Liverpool might start winning league titles and champions league.

He isn't even that good. Coutinho is better. Need better players with more consistency than Honda

He's a different player to Coutinho. but nice try

14 Mar 2013 16:15:36
Downing not in the England squad shocking. MATTYLFC

Downing has been great for us recently but I think justifying not taking Walcott or Lennon would have been tough

Yet the productive Ashley Young is!

The Irish Rover

14 Mar 2013 18:18:07
Great news, imo.

Any chance Hodgson would stop selecting Stevie too?

14 Mar 2013 15:52:33
Sahin: 'I have left Brendan Rodgers, thank God'

I had no idea they we're dating ed!

Crowman.

Sahin was the taker and BR the giver.

Why is he thanking Robbie? Is he the new giver

14 Mar 2013 15:35:24
Forget Sanchez as he's too expensive. The players we are after and who are quite affordable are

1. Menez 8m
2. De Vrij 8m
3. Begovic 12m
4. Honda 6m
5. Iturra Free
6. Feghuli 9m
7. Lovren 8m

Total 51m

(BR has said our debts won't hinder our spending and that this summer woulld be better than the last one that we spent over 30m)

Then the players likely to leave are from eds have said and other rumours that abound are

1. Skrtel 12m
2. Carrager retires
3. Reina 12m
4. Carrol 15m
5. Coates 5m
6. Pacheco free
7. Spearing 2m
8. Shelvey 4m
9. Assaidi 3m

Total 53m

These purchases would be taken care of by our sales.

Then if we get say 25m from owners, we can splash it on Damiao and all would be happy, including m. This is not FIFA. Its for real before you start clattering away on your keyboard.

Personally, I can't see us having that many ins and outs in just the summer, maybe all of those will come to fruition, but I'd assume at least 3 of 7 wouldn't happen until January.

If we were to shift and replace that many players, it could upset the balance and harmony of the squad.

Talking about real world but a striker whose scored 6 goals in two years is going for £15m, a player we brought for £2.4m and played three times is going for £4m, a highly thought of young midfielder is going for £4m and Spearing for £2m is by no means a comfortable shout. On the other hand, Feynoord are letting their young captain and best defender go for less than £10m, PSG despite having no particular wish to ship Menez (as they are trying to shift Gamiero) and apparently we are not coming up against any competition for Feghuli or Lovren because those are the absolute minimum prices. And then your sudden 'oh, if we happen to get £25m from our owners splash it all on one unproven striker whose actually failed big time every time he tried to take on players from Europe with the Brazillian national squad).

I wonder how long its been since a club changed 16 first team players in one window

Didn't QPR do it? or a similar number

Errr we did last summer Swampmonster!

New signing's 2012-2013
Borini - 10m (fee)
Allen - 15m (fee)
Sahin - loan
Assaidi - 3m
Yesil - 1m (fee) )
Total - 29m (fee)

Sold 2012-2013
Amoo - free
Darby - free
Silva - free
Kuyt - 1m (fee)
Auerlio - free (fee)
Maxi - 1m (fee)
Aquilani - 5m (fee)
Bellamy - free (fee)
Spearing - Loan
Carroll - Loan
Adam - 4m (fee)
Eccelston - 1m (fee)

Aren't you a mug if you think the likes of amoo, eccleston & Siva were first team players. Even qpr did it over 2 windows and look where they are

14 Mar 2013 15:07:03
Nice one courtesy of Mark Lawrenson:

"When he starts a game well, Downing can be brilliant. When he doesn’t start well, he retreats into his shell. He’s like Emile Heskey but with more ability. "

Come to think of it, one could have a lot of fun adding "He’s like Emile Heskey but with more ability" to daily conversation.

14 Mar 2013 16:07:07
wonder what that person lawrenson thinks of downing having more goals and assists than his fav teams wingers valencia and young, does he not highlight the failings of Manchester United players due to his total love of purple nose.

14 Mar 2013 14:49:57
Eds do you think Surez will leave in the summer?
What is your opinion? {Ed002's Note - You should have no problems finding my opinion using the search function.}

14 Mar 2013 14:30:58
Our Michael Ngoo is playing in the scottish cup final this weekend. He is hoping to show BR that he could be a "plan B" with his height in attack. So good luck Big Lad, hope to see you back in the squad soon.

Good luck to him and wilson. They both seemed to be improving now they are getting first team football. We have a lot of others that are 20 that need to get out on loan and out of the reserves to be honest.

14 Mar 2013 11:59:36
Why Do people think alonso will return, would FSG allow it, isn't he 31? I don't think so, we will be looking to put in a younger player, so please forget that idea!
The Jazz

32 this year.

FSG have no plans to block any older player targetted for the team - they just demand value for money. If BR can convince them that a 32 year old player still has two good year in them and are a significant improvement on anything else they will get, they will authorise the sale if the money is available and reasonable. The player needs to be able to bring in more than they take out - so if we get a £5m 32 year old who will be key to us regaining CL football for example it's fine. A £5m 32yo squad member who will have no resale value is not

Obviously for your theory to work you would require a crystal ball which comes with buying all players. Alonso could come as the Messiah, the missing link to CL football and might end up like Joe Cole who had lost his mojo. Buying players always comes with risks, plain and simple.

The Irish Rover

Alonso would need "legs" around him. If he had that could play till 34/35

14 Mar 2013 11:51:24
Hi Eds

Perhaps you can shed some light on the Andy Carroll situation. It is clear we have to sell to fund the majority of our purchases which I think is perfectly fair given our financial situation, but have we not in effect spent the money we had earmarked to receive for AC when we signed Sturridge and Coutnho? People are saying if we get £13m for Skrtel and £12m for Carrol then that will give us £25m to spend on Menez, Honda, De Vrij etc, but I really don't think that is the case, I feel that the money we are/were projected to receive for AC has been spent already - any clarification on this would be great as it is bugging the hell out of me! {Ed002's Note - It is best to avoid discussion of money.}

Let's just convert him into a goalie

Think of all the other high wage players we've already cleared out last summer when we expected to bring in Sturridge and Dempsey - Kuyt, Maxi, Bellamy etc.

14 Mar 2013 11:31:41
With the likelihood of Skrtel leaving in the Summer and our need for a replacement for him and Carra I was just wondering what everyone's opinion would be if we moved for Shawcross?

We clearly need a really commanding CD who is experienced, solid in the air, fairly quick, doesn't get bullied by strong CFs, is capable of scoring from corners and who is vocal to direct the back line.

For me Shawcross ticks all the boxes.

Lots of people saying Ashley Williams but in my opinion he isn't very vocal and wouldn't add the goals from corners that we've been missing since Sami left, Williams has only scored 1 Prem goal for Swansea.

Shawcross is 25 years old (3 years younger than Williams) has scored 11 Prem goals and would probably cost around the same price.

Scarface

Swansea are a ball playing side, Stoke get a load from set pieces so it's an unfair comparison. Although the age is a good point.

I imagine you'll get lots of disagrees on this, but personally I think Shawcross is decent. Not sure that he offers much of an improvement over Skrtel, though. My biggest issue with this is I don't think that he's necessarily available which means you'd have to pay well over the odds for him (as we did with Allen, as an example).

Personally this is to me one of our biggest issues when it comes to transfers. You can pick up players like Sturridge and Countinho who aren't really wanted at their clubs far cheaper than someone who a club doesn't really want to sell.

Shawcross would be an outsdanding center half for us, the rock our defence lacks a little. ashley williams on the other hand is the leader were missing in defence. either would be superb

Just use Martin Kelly as he is a natural CB and if can stay free from injuries will no doubt be a very good player for us.

Promote young Sama as back up and buy Douglas on a free from FC Twente for the experience we can also use Andre Wisdom at CB as he started off at CB and like Kelly has been utilized to play anywhere across the back line.

Shawcross and Williams will not get us into champions league, i'd rather have skrtel any day. I pray that we don't take steps back with signings of this standard. Sakho, De Vrij and Lovern are of the calibre we should be targeting.

Kyle

In fairness I think Stoke play a lot more 'football' than they are given credit for. Pulis has tried to sign a higher caliber of player than they had and this has definitely moved them away from being a one-dimentional long-ball team, which probably explains why they aren't looking as strong as they were as its taking some getting used to. Shawcross can pass the ball, and at times looks quite comfortable bringing the ball out of defence.

The one clear differnce for me between Shawcross and Skrtel is that Shawcross doesn't get bullied by big powerful CFs like Skrtel does, Skrtel looked sh!t scared against Smith from Oldham and got battered.

As for Williams being a leader, I'm not too sure, he definitely leads by example, but when it comes to leading the defence and giving orders, every time I've seen him play he seem very quiet. When Carra is gone we won't have anyone in defence who will shout and tell players where they need to be, and having that type of presence in a back 4 is vital, just look at Arsenal's back 4 more noise comes out of a mouse's ar$e. Watch Shawcross, he is constantly giving commands and setting the defence.

Eds, do you think Shawcross would be available in the Summer and have anyone shown any interest in him? {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest in Shawcross right now.}

What worries me Kyle is will Dr Vrij, Lovren, Sakho be able to settle to the Prem? We were all very happy and excited by the signing of Coates after seeing how impressive he looked in the Copa America but he looks so fragile in the Prem/English game. Shawcross and Williams have both proven they can cope with the physicality of the Prem/English game (something Skrtel has found difficult) so I don't see how you could see either one as a backward step.

I hate to say it but look at Utd, most of their signings come from the Prem as they are proven, and not many have let them down but quite a few of Fergies foreign signings have.

Just because they are foreign and don't have boring names like Williams or Jones doesn't mean they will be class players.

Big D, agree that they should be used as CDs as its clearly their strongest position, but Kelly nor Wisdom are experienced enough to be a permanent CB alongside Agger at the moment, and neither are what you would call vocal leaders.

I think we definitely need to sign 1 CB

Kelly is a vocal leader from what I've seen, and definitely was in the U21's

Get that hard dirty ******* Robert huth he's the tough guy we need to compliment agger good in air, strong in the tackle and a big threat in the other box. Still young and not cost a lot and already established in the premie league. what you guys think?

The only way to get experience is to actually play regular, Wisdom has done exceptionally well this season when played and Kelly is a natural leader and to me is a like for like replacement for the Legend Carra. i'd much rather use them then spend £8M - £14M on a new defender that might not settle and struggle.

Kelly like Carra come on mate Kelly his well quicker

I think someone once made a joke that we should play Carroll at centre-half.

But I honestly don't think this would be a bad idea. Surely when he looks back at his recent goal scoring ratio, he might consider a change of direction too?

Coyle's Law states.

Shawcross be ideal hard and a talker/winner. Scores a few and young enough to improve. Him and hard ball winning midfielder would complement our ball playing/Skillfull lads allowing them to play in the more tight/feisty games

Our uplift in form has come about 6 weeks too late
We are now dependant on others falling away to get top 4 spot
Saying that it looks like the BS are about to implode - so there will be a lot fewer Chang shirts wandering round Liverpool 1 this summer

I think one reason is that he just does not have the technical ability to fit into a fast passing style of play. If you ever watched him playing you would of noticed how often he ends up on the floor, when ever he backs into a defender he ends up on the deck! How are you meant to hold onto to possession when your target man falls over evertime he recieves the ball?

Secondly you have to take into account the players lifestyle, Kenny may have enjoyed going to boyzone concerts with the big number 9 but BR obviously is a different manager with different views and one of his criteria for buying players is professionalism, attitude and commitment. AC obviously has issues in this area, he has had numerous brush ins with the law and assaults on team mates.

At the end of the day, andy carrol had a chance and unfortunately he clearly has not made the most of it. I for one truyst BR's judement of character and if he thinks andy carrol is not good enough or professional enough or committed enough or whatever then so be it!

All of you dreaming of an Andy Carrol revival at LFC need to get your heads out the clouds as it simply is not going to happen!

Give me sturridge any day over carrol!

ReDeXe

To be fair, I think the Boyzone thing and other similar stuff were an attempt by Kenny to take Carroll under his wings and move him in the right direction. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Whatever potential Carroll had he himself has wasted and that can't be blamed on either Kenny or Brendan.

The bigger question for me is that most seem to feel Newcastle may be in for Carroll in the summer. For me, I can't figure out why they would be? Does anyone know if they really have any interest?

Hi All

Forest fan in peace.

I understand that Raheem Sterling may be loaned out to a championship team and that we (Forest) are in for him among other championship teams.

From what I have seen of him he looks great and does anyone at your end know where he may be going?

Good luck for the rest of season and hope to be meeting you next season.

I hope we don't send you Sterling mate, but good luck to Forest

I read that Bolton, Brighton and Cardiff were all possible destinations for Sterling. Blackpool was also mentioned as it may help in the deal to bring Tom Ince if Rodgers was still interested in the player this summer. I haven't heard any mention of Forest but I guess you never know. Of course all of this is just paper talk so we can only speculate where he will end up if he does go on loan.

Red Bish

Sterling & Suso will not be going out on loan.
Br said so on lfc tv today

grizz

I think the championship would be the right place for him next year. The another season loan the year after at a promoted side or one that likes to play the right way. My guess for next year if he does go to the championship would be Blackpool for a season with maybe suso or one of the u21's, something to sweeten the ince deal.

Have you seen much of ince this and last year? Do you think he is ready to step up yet?

THANKS

Grizz, BR was talking about loaning them this season but the Forest fan's talking abot next season

Br was asked about rumours of Sterling and Suso going out on loan on lfc tv today, he said not a chance and that the rumours are false.
i have no idea what will happen next year :)

Well said, whilst Alonso is a top midfielder, he is 32 in the summer and would cost atleat 12million, add to that I also know man city are interested'

1. City aren't interested and he wouldn't go to City.
2. A deal is being talked about for him in Turkey for about half that, and it's the only registered interest.

So how do you come to 'know' either of these incorrect things?

Big D, the problem fans have with jonjo shelvy is that he doesn't perform nowhere near enough. In the European game when he scored a hatrick I though the boy was outstanding and would kick on. He has a lot of attributes to make him a very good player but I fear at moment he doesn't have the attitude and composure yet. Shelvy can be hot heated in games and naive in the final third. Maybe its confidence or a long run of games he needs? But whether he is with us next season, i'm not too sure. I personally would send him out on loan to a PL team such as brom and see how he fares.

I completely agree Big Al. I find the lad perplexing. One game he shows astonishing abilities and another he displays mental weakness which then has an impact on his playing. If he can get a grip[ on his mentality he is clearly good enough but I imagine time is running out. He reminds me of a family member of mine that needed anger management. unfortunately HE punched the anger management therapist ;)

OK Big AL fair point, I would be surprised if we let a talent like him leave on a permanent however as you said a loan would do him the world of good if he went to West Brom, Swansea or Wigan as they play similar football to us and he would get regular games, he can be hot headed but so was Gerrard at his age, I personally think Shelvey needs to be playing regular just like Henderson has, I really do think Shelvey if he wants it can defiantly be a replacement for Gerrard in 2 or 3 years when he retires but Shelvey must want it to be able to achieve it.

Its his engine I worry about. Seems to tire easily and not track back hard enough after losing the ball.

Not something we should be seeing in a young lad.

For this reason I would ship him on if good money can be made.

Certainly a talented young footballer though so I won't mind if his given more time either. Brendan's call.

Davey Sulls

Has anyone noticed he looks much better when there's no Gerrard in the team. When he was "the main man" in central midfield he seemed to grow a few inches and look quite good. Unfortunately I think he's had about 5 decent games in all his time with us and I think he's just too slow up top and physically to be a top player. Maybe one more season to prove himself but wouldn't be surprised to see him sold for the right money. If Suso is loaned out next season he survives in the squad but if Suso stays I don't think he gets into a first or second XI team.

Got a young
Rooney like mentality I think. Will come better with age and a few harsh rollikings along the way. defo got some talent just needs more consistency so maybe another 6 months / season on loan to team maybe who ecome up or a team like wigan if they don't go down like what fergie did with cleverly

Not sure why Alexis Sanchez name keeps popping up here. There's as much chance of him joining as there is of Alonso returning.

He's no option, regardless whether or not Suarez is sold. He'd have much more lucrative and enticing options when he leaves Barca.
Likes of Juve, PSG, Inter, Bayern, City and Chelsea would be some of the options available to him. Also I suspect Manchastar United may look to him as an alternative to the more expensive James Rodriguez.

Sanchez is another one you can throw into the Eriksen, Isco, Ter Stegen category.
I don't know why we always like to do this to ourselves.

We're no more competing at the top end of the table, so accordingly, the calibre of the player we sign has dropped.
We're not oil rich either, so cannot be enticing top players by flashing more £ notes in front of them.

Many fans have unreasonably and unrealistically high expectations and are going to be bitterly disappointed.
To be fair sometimes the term 'deluded ' best describes us.

It also doesn't help when you have a manager and player who easily get carried away.
The talk of top 4 just before and after the Spurs has been nothing less than embarassing to say the least.

We hadn't beaten a top six team prior to Spurs, hadn't won 3 on the trot for months and have been swinging from one extreme to the other, and now we are Champions League contenders? Do me a favour.

What riles me is that such talk is immediately followed by an embarassing loss.
Beating a 2nd string, uninterested Swansea outfit and a 4th rate Wigan and scraping a fortunate win over a vastly dominant Spurs at Anfield is hardly real cause for optimism. Win all our nine remaining games when we didn't win even 3 on the trot in 28 matches? Gimme a break.

No one wants to see Liverpool playing in the CL again more than me. But do let's keep calm and level heads now. One game at a time.
We've got a daunting trip to Soton this weekend.
At home they are incredibly strong.
Their energy levels and high pressing game are better than I've seen from anyone in the division.

Soton will be the real test of the side's progress in this possession football.
The Saints at home play a high line and press the ball and run for the entire 90 at full. It will be interesting to see how we deal with this, considering that we tend to quickly panick when harried.

Imo it will be toughest of our remaining games and we'd do well to get any sort of win.
Good luck.

14 Mar 2013 14:57:12
Would you moan if we did win? You've moaned about our last three!
FFs.

Possibly the most annoying post I've seen and looks like one that doesn't even watch the matchs. 2nd rate Swansea team? Funny, every one of those guys were regular starters. Wigan went on days later to win 3-0 against Everton. Dominant Spurs? They ruled the middle, we ruled the begining and the end and they got both their goals via dodgy reffing, how did we get lucky? They were lucky that we needed any luck at all! By your argument, United have won about two decent times this season where the other team were strong and played great but they took the win on absolute unquestionable merit, which is ridiculous. You can only beat the teams you play and we are doing that - we proved ourselves equal to Arsenal and City, beat Spurs and smashed some teams below us. Our form is great at the moment and what's 'deluded' is someone who calls themself a fan but can't even see that, never mind a person who claims to know anything about football but thinks a match against a patchy Southampton is harder than a trip to St James, or Chelsea and Everton.

Everton this summer signed Mirillas, and in recent seasons they signed Fellaini. Spurs took Vertoghen, plenty of top quality players move to big teams that are building a new generation. Why should we never be able to get any? You're obviously the type of guy who just loves being bitter and looking on the worst, but we don't need to come to your level

If Sterling is to go out on loan, I hope we send him to a team playing good football. I personally think Watford, Cardiff or Crystal palace.

Be good if he could bag 5-10 goals before he returns, which he is capable of easily.

YNWA! (Adam)

I thought he wasn't being played regularly due to a fear of Burnout as we have seen with Wiltshire.

". Sahin, now on loan at Borussia Dortmund, told Spanish newspaper AS: "Brendan Rodgers wanted me to play as a 10. But I do not play behind the forwards.

"I spoke with him and asked him why I was playing there. It is not my real position. The boss could not answer me. still, I am not sorry about it.

"To play in the red jersey and be in Anfield is something marvellous.

"Maybe if I had not gone there I would not have been able to return to Borussia Dortmund. For that, I am happy.

"But I have left Brendan Rodgers, thanks be to God. "

Sahin made his name at Dortmund before joining Real in 2011.

He said: "I feel well physically and mentally, everything is perfect. After returning to Germany, I feel much better. "

what the hell is going on?

harry scousser
ynwa

We needed a number 10. Sahin wasn't it. What confused you? Is it the bad mouthing of our manager in public because if so that kinda stuff happens, it's not a conspiracy

Worth remembering that since his much-trumpeted return he's mostly played as a sub- I think he's only started one game.

BR got that one wrong- he thought he knew his character, and he reckoned Sahin would make a decent no 10 for a season (and he did get a couple of goals too), but the lad didn't want to know.

Shame - I thought he showed a touch of class and if he hadn't got that injury might have kicked on after the Europa and West Brom games. Sure he didn't play as a number 10 when he did play? And if BR didn't fancy him in the Lucas role it's probably because he couldn't tackle and struggled with the physical stuff. Can't win them all.

14 Mar 2013 13:19:53
I think we can take 23-25 points from our last 9 games. I expect us to win every game and then draw the Newcastle (A) game and/or the Chelsea (H) game.

Other than that, what a good run in!

YNWA! (Adam)

Not that easy, our next 4 games were very winnable games earlier in the season but most of them are in a relagation battle now and we are away for 3 of them which makes it that much harder.

If we want any chance of finishing the season in a position of challenging and not way way behind again, we need max points off all the relegation candidates now. No prem game is easy, but there are still no excuses

14 Mar 2013 09:17:42
Hi Eds, I seen in an earlier post that Barca may still owe us money from the Mascherano deal, is this true? Are we owed money from any other deals or worse do we owe any clubs outstanding monies? {Ed002's Note - No, it is not true.}

14 Mar 2013 09:30:55
Eds do you recken Alexi Sanchez would come to Liverpool fc even if Suarez stays. Watching him the other night thought he'd be perfect in a front three of Suarez Sturridge Sanchez!

Thanks Brad {Ed001's Note - it is more a problem of affording him without selling Suarez.}

But aren't Barca looking to sell him Ed?
would they want closer to 25 mils, if so it is best we leave it alone and go for Menez instead.
Similar ability and potentially for 6 million pounds.

Who knew Djimmi Traore had that in his locker?

Hilarious!

14 Mar 2013 08:44:06
Whatever happenned to Krisztin Nmeth? I remember at one stage he was being talked up as being the next Michael Owen then he just disappeared, I suppose a bit like Pacheco.

Has been sold I think

TheLad

He went to Athens now I believe he plays in Holland. I am affraid he just didn't develop his game. Like a lot of youth players. They find a level of playing and can't improve any further.

14 Mar 2013 08:15:07
Lots of people on here want Alonso back.

Whilst he's a great player, where would he fit in currently? Lucas and Gerrard are the more holding midfielders (Stevie doesn't have the legs to play a more advanced role), so where would that leave Xabi? You either drop one of Lucas or Gerrard or he gets used to being a squad player. I can't see that happening and that's before there's consideration of his age, wages or a transfer fee.

Great player, but leave the past in the past and look forward and not backwards.

14 Mar 2013 06:30:08
With regards 2 alexis sanchez movn 2 lvpool mayb wages might not be a stumbling block since spain has a higher tax rate than uk as result lvpool cn pay him less but he would still receive more or less the same wages juz depends on cl football I tink bt if he does becum interestd mayb a loan move

I think you need to check your sums again mate.

MIKEY

The tax rate in catalonia is 49% for higher earners so he would pay 1% more here

14 Mar 2013 04:17:24
I just watched Suarez's 50 goals for LFC, very impressive but can you imagine if he put away all his chances. There was a period of time when I thought he was wasteful, well he's just phenomenal!

HK

He's still very wasteful. The difference is that now other people are making chances and it's not all on him, he gets more opportunity

L*******, we had at least 20+ shots in 30+ games last season and Suarez had 18 of those this season we haven't had as many shots but converted a lot more goals

You guys can hit disagree all you like, his shot conversion ratio is a fact and it is not great for a player of his talent. don't get me wrong I love him and think he's brilliant, top 5 forward in the world, but he probably has the worst shot conversion ratio of that top 5 (who for me are Messi, Ronaldo, Falcao, Ibrahimovic and Suarez in no particular order)

He's the type of player that scores goals, at the end of the day, that's all that matters.
A game will come along that he scores 4 or 5 he's that type of player,
He creates he shoots he scores.

Predicting the summer.

1) Andy Carroll will leave, probably going back to Newcastle for something around £12-14m.
2) Assaidi will go back to the Ervedise, we'll probably get around £3-5m.
3) Shelvey will either go out on loan, or leave permanently for around £5-7m.
4) Suso will go out on loan to gain first team experience.
5) Carragher will retire, an obvious one really.
6) Coates will leave, we'll get around £4-7m for him.
7) Skrtel will probably return to Zenit for around £10-14m.
8) Downing could possibly leave if we get a bid of around £8m or higher.
9) Borini, Reina and Henderson will all stay.
10) Spearing, Pacheco and Wilson will all leave.

a) We'll sign a new young centre back, probably De Vrij.
b) If Skrtel goes, Rodgers will sign his former captain Ashley Williams.
c) We'll look to sign a quality midfielder, first choice will be Eriksen; Alonso, Honda and Strootman could be looked at. There's talk of Cabaye too.
d) Even if Downing stays we'll look to sign a new wideman. Menez could be first choice, but Ben Arfa will also be looked at. Ince could join too if Downing does leave.
e) Once Carroll goes we'll sign a new forward, possibly Gameiro.
f) Iturra will sign on a free to act as cover for Lucas.
g) We might go in for a another left back, if so it will either be Cissokho or Neil Taylor.
h) We might go for a back up keeper, maybe Ochoa.

It's all rumours, but hey this site is for them. You never know I could "possibly" be right.

Shelvey
Pacheco
£20 million (£3 million average each)

Players In

Asmir Begovic
Ashley Williams

£90 million (£13 million average each)

£20 million Net Spend.

One think people never incorporate when doing the (players out) - (players in) thing is signing on fees, agent fees, possibly tax, legal fees etc. etc. It probably adds up to 20% of generated revenue.

Just food for thought.

Daveevad

Really can't believe that so many fans on here want Shelvey out, he is young and defiantly going to be a top top player.

Give up on strootman, and esp eriksen and mertens

Give up on strootman, and esp eriksen and mertens

I thought this was an interesting and realistic post, I agree with it all apart from Reina staying, there is no way this is going to happen.

It's very unlikely to have 8-10 players leave in one window. I would say 5 is realistic.

In fairness, 4 are already out on loan and one is the 3rd choice keeper, and one more hasn't even played since Jan. Might be possible, wouldn't sell them all though

What I think would be a quality summer:

Stefan De Vrij (CB) £8m
Mamadou Sakho (CB/LB) £8m
Manuel Iturre (C/DM) Free
Sofiane Feghouli (AM) £9m
Kevin Gameiro (ST) £10m

Dec/Jan

Keisuke Honda (AM/CM) Free

14 Mar 2013 04:59:04
we should not sign two cb instead we can go all out sign ingo martinez who will cost around 15mil.

Honda is not free

Honda is not free

He is free after december

Anybody seen Djimi Traore's goal? Wish he could have pulled a few of those out of the hat for us, although i'm sure he tried a couple lol.
Cheers

Never mind his goal scoring records for us, his goal clearence against Milan in the 2005 final give us the cup.

What are the chances of us getting iturra mignolet Sanchez and de vrjj and who are we interested in to replace Coates carragher and skyrtl IMO we need 2 quality cb and a sub cb

Watched Manuel Iturra tonight looks good deffinatly a step up from henderson and allan. plays the deep holding role tho. so i'm guessing he's going to be a back up to lucas. good peice of business by the club I think, we've needed a back up to lucas for a while now and to get this type of quality on a free is great! rodgers is building a strong squad now.

i see a great future YNWA
