Hi eds

Quick message is there any updates with regards to Can signing a new contract? I would be absolutely gutted to see him leave.

Keep up the good work

Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

15 Jun 2017 00:18:18
Relax he'll sign a new deal.

14 Jun 2017 22:12:51
Not LFC directly but saints have sacked Puel don't think it will impact any of the ongoing saga.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

14 Jun 2017 22:29:49
I heard we put in a bid for Puel.

14 Jun 2017 23:19:54
I agree.

14 Jun 2017 21:41:16
Eds, have you heard anything new about the FA investigation?

Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - nothing yet seb..

14 Jun 2017 20:44:40
Did we submit a bid for Naby Keita?

Believable1 Unbelievable5

14 Jun 2017 21:59:15
£5 million plus add-ons lol.

14 Jun 2017 22:00:11
Nopes klopp wanted him but rb arebt selling and priced him out of a move.

We need this ban to either kick in or piss off.

Salah, robertson, obiang i rekon.

Would love salah, mendy, peri and seri.

14 Jun 2017 18:59:07
Michael Edwards Vs Ramon Rodriguez 'Monchi'! Who would be the victor?! let's get ready to rumble!

Believable1 Unbelievable3

14 Jun 2017 19:34:43
Lol a world class stats man or a world class sporting director.

14 Jun 2017 19:57:41
Edwards would have a word with the judges 😉.

14 Jun 2017 18:58:27
Liverpool in talks to sign Mr Tumble for the LB position from Cbeebies FC. Should be reasonably priced.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

14 Jun 2017 19:52:30
At least he's got a Red Nose. 🤡.

15 Jun 2017 08:33:17
Are you kidding me, he has no balance at all, always tumbling over, we are a champions league side we can do much better than this.

15 Jun 2017 09:34:02
You never know which one will turn up,

14 Jun 2017 18:37:30
Apparently, you can haggle in an Italian supermarket.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2017 19:04:12
Do they sell left backs?

14 Jun 2017 20:00:13
How much are you willing to pay Razor? 💰.

14 Jun 2017 21:26:00
I'll give you my nectar card.

14 Jun 2017 18:08:40
Clearly, LFC need a kick up the a. e regarding transfers. Roma are saying they are not a supermarket and LFC need to pay the asking price. Why are they still haggling. This is not befitting a world-renowned club.

Believable4 Unbelievable14

14 Jun 2017 18:17:29
I can think of worse things which aren't benefiting our club haha.

14 Jun 2017 18:26:27
I'm thinking that just as much as Roma is not a super market, liverpool fc is not an automated teller machine.

14 Jun 2017 18:30:33
If they WERE a supermarket, we'd have to pay the asking price, surely?

14 Jun 2017 18:39:06
If they were a supermarket we would be looking at all their produce

We only went in for Salad.

14 Jun 2017 18:45:44
Yes but however ridiculous transfer fees are at the min clubs still can't expect to name any random price and expect the buyer to just say yeah no problem take all my money, here my pants are down take my virginity too.

14 Jun 2017 19:11:51
I didn't know you were a virgin Kopdog? Not heard from your canine friend, Wonderdog Sparky.

14 Jun 2017 19:20:35
AggerDo haha, I liked that!

14 Jun 2017 21:58:06
Brilliant, Aggerdo!

15 Jun 2017 10:55:56
We just need to offer what Roma are asking.

14 Jun 2017 14:36:56
Saw Ruben neves being linked to us and Chelsea, any truth eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath.}

14 Jun 2017 18:52:47
Why? Who is targeting him?

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing to say that Liverpool are interested.}

14 Jun 2017 08:41:10
Just a quick question regarding Dominic Solanke and the fact that his transfer fee is to be set by a tribunal. Will his performances at the U-20's have ballooned his value and, if so, will this be significant enough to put us off?
It's probably a naïve point but my concern is that we score another own-goal in the transfer market.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - If Liverpool wish to avaoid another tribunal then they need to talk with Chelsea and agree a fee.}

14 Jun 2017 19:21:08
In your opinion Ed002, what would be the best thing to do? Go tribunal or agree fee with Chelsea directly? Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - After what happened last time to Liverpool they should at least talk with Chelsea about a fee.}

15 Jun 2017 10:58:38
Not sure if it is true or not, but I have read online that the fee can't exceed 3m at a tribunal as he was on less than 25k a week at Chelsea.

Could of just been paper talk though I guess.

14 Jun 2017 16:52:58
Everyone needs to calm down regarding transfers, may be it has all gone quiet on transfers as LFC have realised they have some leaks that need filling as that is what ultimately killed the VVD deal.

I still believe we will sign Salah and the much needed left back, ideally Mendy. So keep the faith and I am sure we will hear some transfer news soon.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

14 Jun 2017 17:11:48
I love a surprise transfer. That's how they should be.

14 Jun 2017 17:41:51
Don't think it was a leak that killed the deal, more the fact we agreed terms with him before seeking permsission of the club.

15 Jun 2017 10:54:49
Im not denying the fact we were in the wrong fencey, but because it was plastered all across the web definitely didn't help us.

14 Jun 2017 14:04:51
Afternoon all, sorry Eds not football related but could you please post. Thoughts and prayers with all involved and affected by today's tragic tower block fire in west London. YNWA.

Are we playing 21 premier league games before january?
Or are the fixture list wrong?

Believable8 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2017 10:30:27
I was also wondering why we play Arsenal twice before we play Swansea.

14 Jun 2017 14:21:03
It's designed to help Man Utd.

14 Jun 2017 14:30:40
But just remember. we'll have VVD, Salah, Mendy, Keita and Werner in place by then.

Oh well. we live in hope! 😂👍🏼.

14 Jun 2017 16:13:14
That's it, I draw the line. FSG out. IfnTom Werner thinks he can pick himself then that's just taking the absolute mick.

14 Jun 2017 14:34:28
I don't know if its a conspiracy to help utd, but I know for sure ed025 is loving the blue nose fixtures!

{Ed025's Note - really hard start for us waqas, but with us being in the europa we should be fitter than most at the start..well hopefully mate.. :)

15 Jun 2017 00:26:21
United at home on opening day again. If they are not top by end of September then they will be under pressure.
ARe the fixtures actually done by computer?

{Ed002's Note - One person is responsible for doing them.}

15 Jun 2017 10:42:03
Due to World Cup being in Russia next year, the prem needs to finish early (May 13th) so more games packed into December.

14 Jun 2017 09:32:58
So much for a computer making random fixtures. It's remarkably similar to last year's!

Believable6 Unbelievable2

14 Jun 2017 13:21:35
It's entirely random. There are a few articles about that explain how it's actually done. Worth a read if you can be bothered.

14 Jun 2017 14:25:19
Can't be entirely random as you have other concerns involved, e. g. can't have a team playing all their home games first and you can only play each team twice, they set rules around not playing all Xmas and New Year fixtures at home or away, before you get to police input on which home fixtures can be at same time, for example Met don't want to be policing every London PL club at same time.

14 Jun 2017 16:00:06
The fixtures are randomly generated with some exceptions which can be included in the algorithm.

14 Jun 2017 16:06:29
And it's obviously not random because they make certain derbies fall on the same day. usually the Manchester, the Liverpool and the north London Derby.

14 Jun 2017 16:49:06
What does it matter, every team plays every other team twice.

15 Jun 2017 10:49:24
Sorry, typo. I meant to say, it's NOT entirely random. As I say, there's plenty of material online explaining how it's worked out.

14 Jun 2017 09:11:13
Interesting start to the season, arsenal then Man City with an international in between, hope we don't get our usual influx of injuries from them. On paper some winnable games to get us going, but we're Liverpool and literally anything could happen.

Believable11 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2017 13:26:41
It still baffles me how anyone can think that having an international break at that point in the season is a good idea.

15 Jun 2017 10:44:14
I think good set of fixtures! By math we should be able to get 124 points which I think should be enough!

14 Jun 2017 09:10:57
Liverpool travel to Watford on the openin day of the season!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

14 Jun 2017 09:41:46
0-3 Lovren Hatrick. Ah no, 1-3 Lovren own goal.

14 Jun 2017 08:21:24
i think getting a LB is a must. Pool can move JM to RB. a natural great crosser with his right foot. This is what lacking in Cylne which we had seen for past season.

Believable10 Unbelievable3

14 Jun 2017 08:33:16
I completely agree. I also don't get why people are so critical of Robertson though. I'm not accusing you by the way, just bringing it up as you mentioned left backs.

He is a very solid left back, with a very good delivery from wide areas. I'm sure some statistician will try and tell me he only got one assist last season but what was he supposed to do? Go on a one man run through 4 players and then cross in to a player who wasn't there? Hull were absolutely terrible and Robertson was the light in the dark for them after Snodgrass left. I think surrounded by a higher quality of players will bring out all of his abilities.

With Mane and Salah both incredibly adept at attacking the back post, we need fullbacks who can whip in a first time cross to create a bit of havoc. Robertson down the left with Arnold/ Milner down the right would be a massive improvement going forward, and no worse defensively; if anything slightly better.

You are right though, a left back has to be priority.

{Ed001's Note - when was Robertson the light in the dark for them? Grosicki and Markovic were the ones that gave them hope, maybe even Maguire, but not Robertson. He had a poor season.}

14 Jun 2017 08:55:37
I don't get this solid quote for Robertson, he looks anything but solidly defensively. I personally hope we don't get him but I will support him if he arrives, he's still young and should improve surrounded by better players.

14 Jun 2017 09:00:06
All about opinions Ed. I thought it was Robertson and to some extent Niasse personally, judging off what I saw of Hull. Maguire is like a very poor mans David Luiz in my opinion. Markovic and Grosicki usually just put their heads down and got ran off the ball she ever I saw them play.

Robertson was solid defensively though and got forward as well as you can when constantly under pressure. Niasse occassionally showed up as well but never consistently scored goals.

{Ed001's Note - I do not rate Maguire, but he is a better player than Robertson. Robertson is far from solid defensively and had plenty of opportunities to get forward but his delivery was mostly hopeless the moment he got put under pressure. Hull's fullbacks were their weakest link.}

14 Jun 2017 09:16:06
Have to agree with Ed on that one, Robertson didn't stand out at all.

14 Jun 2017 09:22:36
Admittedly I know nothing about what makes a good left back and I didn't watch much of Hull last season. But, if Robertson can in fact cross well (a few posters have said he can) then in my opinion he will be an upgrade.

At the moment we have two full backs that are suspect in defence and worse at final dilevery. I think buying a lb who can cross and switching milner to rb will be an improvement. At least in an attacking sense where we would be able to put decent crosses in from both sides.

I have not seen anything of Solanke play but other strikers (less so sturridge) are all pretty good in the air and good crosses may help us break down teams who sit deep and stay compact.

14 Jun 2017 09:27:01
No worries L4L. Respect that.

Ed001 I'm surprised you'd say that. If I was taking that job I'd rip up pretty much the whole team except for Niasse, Robertson, Mason and Jakupovic. Possibly Grosicki and Ranaocchia as they are in their first 6 months in England.

I think midfield was their main weakness. With Mason injured they just couldn't keep the ball.

{Ed001's Note - Clucas was one of, probably their best player, yet you have not even mentioned him. Their team was what it was, a team to get promoted with a bunch of desperate January additions. However their fullbacks were the point of vulnerability that every opponent got at them through, even though Silva tried to help that with the wingers playing in front. Robertson is not a top class left back, he is one of those players who are just not quite Premier League class but too good for the Championship.}

14 Jun 2017 10:33:25
I didn't really take to Clucas. He is one of those players who tries too much when he should keep it simple.

He reminded me of Jack Wilshere at times with his carelessness and poor position so sense. I don't think he is Premier league quality.

{Ed001's Note - and yet you rate the positionally clueless Robertson?}

14 Jun 2017 10:56:45
That I do Ed haha.

14 Jun 2017 11:29:00
Cannot believe there are actually LFC fans that would want Robertson anywhere near LFC. When did Roy Hodgson come back and pick LFC's transfer targets?
This Robertson case has Paul Konchesky written all over it. He could not handle the pressure at Hull, and he certainly won't at LFC. 6 months later, he will be shipped off to a championship club after a series of poor performances once the fans get on his back. A couple of years later, people will forget we actually signed Robertson once upon a time. In the meanwhile, Klopp will continue LFC's long awaited pursuit of a half decent LB since Fabio Aurelio.
Someone should tell the club to just pay up for Mendy and not have to worry about the LB position for the next 5-6 years.

14 Jun 2017 11:51:04
I can't even believe this is a discussion.

Mendy is sitting over in monaco twiddling his thumbs.

Pay the fee what evrr it is that lad is beyond good.

14 Jun 2017 12:33:48
Mk Robertson hS been terrible defensively positioning all over the place.

14 Jun 2017 12:42:24
Can't understand why you rate Robertson for the life of me MK, sometimes it feels like you just like the player because we are linked with them to try and justify the signing.

I don't rate him at all, his crossing is bang average, as is his touch, his 1v1 defending and his positioning, all round average player and we should be aiming for better.

14 Jun 2017 12:52:19
Didn't he have one assist, Robertson - as an attacking left back, even a team that generally struggled for goals, that is poor - rather keep milner.

14 Jun 2017 13:06:45
I agree with ed on this one, every time I've seen Robertson play for hull or Scotland I've never been impressed by him. He is just a standard left back that has no real strengths. He is at his level at the moment I believe, we can't be taking punts on players like this anymore, we're a champions league team hoping to compete and hopefully secure CL football again, not go back to mid table mediocrity. For too long we have been targeting players of Robertson calibre, and now we have the opppertunity to stop that. I know we have to work within our means to an extent but the standards should not drop that far, especially for a priority position.

14 Jun 2017 13:12:56
With supermane here, top player available in a position we need. Come on LFC, get the deal done.

14 Jun 2017 12:43:43
The next two years, until Neymar and co start piping up how'd they'd love Mendy at Barcelona and we sell up ;)

14 Jun 2017 19:13:40
Rather mendy for 2 years than Robertson sitting on the bench for 5.

14 Jun 2017 03:53:42
Say we are handed a ban. Can the FA out the ban on hold and demand we make changes to our staff that deal with transfers if certain people are found more guilty than others or is it just the clubs responsibitly for the the hiring and firing?

Believable0 Unbelievable7

14 Jun 2017 08:39:34
The FA cannot sack an LFC employee that much is certain.

They can (i believe) prosecute them though and ban them from football activities, which would make their position at the club untenable and probably give the club rights to tear up contracts without any settlements. I'm no Football law expert though, so this is purely guesswork.

I really doubt it will come to that. At worst I think we'll get a 12 month suspended ban. Then if we do this again I think we'll get another 12 month ban on top of that and have to serve both sentences in succession. Again though, this is pure speculation on my behalf.

Hopefully it all blows over.

14 Jun 2017 02:00:01
Twitter saying Salah will force through a move to LFC soon. For once, I hope Twitter is right and we can complete this deal and get others over the line by pre season.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

14 Jun 2017 00:50:09
To change the subject a little about our recent mishaps.

If you could only sign 1 player this window who would it be and why?
.
Personally id have to go with mendy as i think Lb is ouf weakest position (so is Rb but have to make a choice ) and it looks like he's the best of the few who are available atm.

Believable9 Unbelievable2

14 Jun 2017 02:03:04
Definitely Mendy.
Of course we have lack of options at LW, RB and CB but we also have players in those positions that can play consistently and are not exactly bang average. At LB, we have a right footed 31 year old and a Spaniard that Klopp doe snot fancy at all. Its the priority position for this summer.
LW can be covered by Markovic and Ojo if needed.
Lovren and Gomez can fight for the 2nd CB position.
TAA can be promoted to first choice RB with Clyne as deputy.

14 Jun 2017 02:19:27
Kieta by a mile think he could take us to the next level.

14 Jun 2017 02:49:30
Ok I know I'll probably get called a nutter but I still think VVD is the one guy I'd sign. we are crying out for a CB, to think of how many points we dropped through defensive mistakes or corners not being cleared etc. yes I know I'm dreaming again.

14 Jun 2017 09:22:55
Mendy. LB has been a priority for what? Three windows? I like Milner, but Mendy is the best out there and we need to start crossing off each position with the best we can.
We score plenty, so goals and creativity are ok. Mignolet has improved and let's see KArius in his second season. Central Midfield is good too. Hendo and Gini are the established quality, Can the upcoming and Ejaria, the potential.

If by Jan TAA or Milner haven't nailed RB or Matip hasn't gelled with Lovren or Gomez, we target RB or CB. Get the best available.

ONE BY ONE, build from the back. Solid defence will help an improving good quality keeper which we have. If we can afford to buy two of the best for two problem positions or where improvement is required great. But rather one the best, then two pretty good cheaper options, done that - not got where we want to be.

14 Jun 2017 09:42:02
Messi, obviously.

14 Jun 2017 09:48:49
Any player? Veratti or Kante.

14 Jun 2017 11:24:32
I think so too, ( mendy) signing him would add defensively and going forward. Moving Milner across to RB upgrades that position from Clyne so we solve to a degree two issues. Milner can deliver good crosses on the run and has the energy to get back and defend.

14 Jun 2017 11:51:26
Mendy.

15 Jun 2017 09:41:22
If we are going to play 4 across the back next season then LB for me. However if Klopp is considering a 3 man backline then CB.
