Sources say andy Carroll won't get a game at the euros...... Why take him then. Not being biased but Carroll offers so much more than welbeck or Defoe. Ok he hasn't got as good pace but he can hold up the ball and head better!

Defoe has scored more off the bench than Carroll so your talking drivel

Not being biased? There are defenders that scored more goals than Carroll this season. Also Welbeck, Crouch, Bent and Defoe all scored more. Along with Walcott.
Even the least popular person on the Liverpool page Nicklas Bendtner outscored that donkey Carroll

Carroll will start against Sweden.
Scouse_Pride

Goals arent the only thing to his game.

Carroll will play against sweden , he plays like their own centre foreward , and although i do not like carroll for lfc he can be better than him.

All over the Media, Carroll to start against Sweden. Sack your sources mate...

Caroll will come good. He is getting back into the stride he was at Newcastle and he may as well surprise most of his doubters of how good he really is.

do you think some of the numpty's on this site can learn how to support a team from the irish. never have i heard singing so loud from fans of a team losing 4-0. its a shame the players and the setup of their team isn't there to match it.

Im irish but i am a red through and through . our team was really poor but you must support them . i support liverpool through thick and thin . good luck to england and the six liverpool players in their squad

The Irish don't really care about the football its a bonus if the team does well but really they only go to these championships for the drink and the craic and with all the gloom and doom in Ireland everyone likes to escape from it and hope after their holidays its all gone when they get back.

Thats what it means to be Irish.

Murphy

Im irish and you dont dpeak for me murphy.

Hello EDs - just been watching Spain v Ireland and saw this exciting young goalscorer called Torres. I don't know anything about him, but he looks a fine prospect. Do you think we might be interested in buying him? ;)

The joke is getting a bit old now fella

Knock knock, who's there? doctor, doctor who? - you just said it.
that joke is neary as old as that one.

He's not young anymore, he's not exciting anymore and after this season it's highly debatable whether he could be classed as a goal-scorer (rather than someone who scores the odd goal)

cozinoz

He most certainly is a Champions League, FA Cup, Euro and World Cup Winner. I'm fairly certain thats more trophies than all the players in your team have won.

Melbourne CFC

If you're fairly certain Melbourne ... SEEK HELP BUDDY! : /

5times

Ok your club has won 5 European Titles (ROUND OF APPLAUSE). Now come back to my point out of all the players in your current squad, can you name me someone who has won all 4 of those competitions? Ill actually make it easier for you. Do you have a World Cup winner in your squad, a Euro Winner in your squad, A Champions League Winner in your squad, and an FA Cup winner. You can name 4 different players but remember Pepe doesn't count if he doesn't get games. Casillas was the World Cup keeper all through the tournament. Euro as well I'm afraid.

We have a player that has won all 4 HIMSELF!

Melbourne CFC

Reina, yes he didn't play but that's only because of how good casillas is

Can I just make a point when he won this world cup and euro which club was he playing for again? And what did he contribute to winning the champions league and fa cup a goal in the semis in which you were already through when he scored.

All 4 HIMSELF?! Depends how you class his contribution, ok, Euros with Spain, but since Villa was not playing that game, he wasn't first choice.

World Cup, he was terrible, so was basking in the glory of everyones elses work.

FA Cup - didn't even get off the bench. Basking in the glory of everyone elses work

Champions League, came on with 5 mins to go of normal time, wasn't in the shoot out..rode off the back of everyone elses work.

I know Liverpool fans get accused of looking at things through rose tinted specs, but we're obviously not the only ones....

Ok fella's World Cup he went in injured and I admit he didn't perform but basking in the glory of everyone else's work? What like your entire team basking in Cardiff's mistakes?

Euros he was the main reasons they won you knob. He was world class.

FA Cup scored goals in the lead up to the final. You do need to score goals to make the final as well guys.

Champions League scored the vital goal to get us through. Played and scored in Group Stages. Assisted goals in Knockout stages. Contributed to the Kings of Europe's campaign.

Liverpool fans get accused of a lot of stuff. Rose tinted glasses? The blokes back confident. He is in a team that wins trophies consistently. Your a mid table team at best. Brendan Rogers can not turn you lot into Swansea in terms of style of play. Square pegs in round holes mate.

Melbourne CFC

Hi.. good website by the way, Is it true about Liverpool trying to involve Aquilani in a deal for Gaston Ramirez?. {Ed002's Note - Sounds like Twitter.}

Getting rid of a flop and signing a Man City target? Sounds more like dreamland

Why would he want to go to city and sit on the bench?! Yes the moneys good but who wants o sit on the bench?
Silva, Nasri, Tevez, Aguero, Johnson, Milner, Yaya Toure, Van Persie? Cavani? Lucas Moura? - these are who Gaston Ramirez would be trying to get in the team ahead of in advanced midfield/wide/forward positions. He's good enough to get ahead of some of them but who offers the most money isn't always the best option.

Not a rumour just a fancy, but would fletcher from wolves not be a better option as a 3rd striker than a huntelaar. Very anonymous every time I've seen him Play!!

Many of the dutch players dont perform regulary for their county. Its happened for years.

my mates uncle who's bruther runs a restront in america, overheard Tom Werner saying how unimpressed he was by Brendan rogers plans, and is going to talk to harry rednap about taking the post before the new season

Change restront to haberdashery in the above post and it might of had legs.

That is one of the worst attempts at a false rumour I've read on here....

Richards

Haha restront... quality! You'd of thought these plans would have been discussed in the interview process? Great post though made me laugh. CQ

Hey its Macca. finally your are back. give us some inside info plseeeee pretty plseeee ( so excited like a lil puppy, tongue out and everything)

Finesse - Seychelles

Cheers Macca.

I read somewhere that one of these guys is a scout called Dave Fallows - who will be head of scouting and recruitment.

Actually, here, From the Chester Chronicle:

LIVERPOOL are set to appoint Dave Fallows as head of scouting and recruitment as part of a double swoop on Manchester City.

Fallows will leave his role as first team scouting and recruitment co-ordinator with the Premier League champions to start work at Anfield.

The former Bolton Wanderers performance analyst will be joined by Barry Hunter, who will also quit City to be part of the new scouting set-up under manager Brendan Rodgers.

Since 2008 Hunter has been City's chief scout for Italy, Switzerland and Russia.

The 43-year-old former Northern Ireland defender, who has also worked as a scout for Blackburn and Norwich, knows Rodgers well from their days at Reading together.

Securing the services of Fallows and Hunter from City represents a major coup for Rodgers as he looks to put the staff in place to help him realise his vision for the club.

Liverpool declined to comment but it's understood that Fallows will form part of the new technical team working with Rodgers after owners Fenway Sports Group shelved plans to appoint a sporting director.

There are likely to be further appointments to the roles of head of development and head of medicine.

Fallows was at Bolton before moving on to City where he was key to building the club's international scouting infrastructure using state-of-the-art technology.

My role is primarily to co-ordinate all aspects of our scouting department, which includes liaising with scouts, fixture planning, managing the constant stream of reports coming in and effectively linking everything together,ť Fallows explained back in 2010.

The traditional role of a scout, where they went to a match and kept all the knowledge in their head rarely exists in modern day scouting structures.ť

BJH YNWA

Cheers for the info Macca. Keep us updated on eveything!! Thanks.

Please BR bring in the following

De jong 14m,
Tello 7m,
dembele 10m,
Sigurdson 7m,

34 million spend

sell.

Adam 7m
Maxi 2m,
downing 12m,
spearing 3m,
Aqualani 3m,
cole( free)
bellamy (Free)

And give sterling some proper game time...

Okay! But only because you asked me too

Love from BR

Apparently he does read this site

Why sell bellamy, fantastic squad player even with dodgy knees??

Rest I'd agree with, Adam still bit unsure think he ok with super Lucas behind him

Alfred

I think the best argument for keeping Bellamy is that he has 1 year left and plays best on the left of a front 3 as an inside forward.

As such, he is a good backup to Suarez in such a role, but more importantly, his presence will ensure that Sterling is gradually integrated into the team over the next year - with an eye on Sterling being ready to take over as Suarez' main backup/competition for the 13-14 season.

If we were to sign a player for big bucks as backup to Suarez - where would that leave Sterling?

Looking for the door most likely - and I wouldn't blame him.

Suarez, Bellamy & Sterling are 3 great options to have for the inside-left position. Other areas are higher priority imo.

BJH YNWA

ps - Sterling (like Suarez & Bellamy) could do a job on the right of a front 3 too. But imo, playing on the left of a front 3 (like the other two mentioned) is his best position.

The Europa league should ensure that there are plenty of games for everyone. I expect a lot of youngsters on the fringes will have chances to shine next year.

Pepe Reina the first man out to console Robbie Keane after the match. Class bloke.

I'm an Irish Liverpool fan and we were totally outclassed tonight but I think one or two of the jokers on here could learn a lesson on how to support a football team from us.

I couldnt care less about the ireland result or robbie keane

Hey Cozinoz, did Torres score?

Rowan

You do realize he's your player now, not ours.
AnfieldUSA

Apparently so, Rowan. Fernando Torres is closing in on Messi's record goal haul for the season after scoring two (yes, two) whole goals against the impenetrable defence of Ireland. Asked if he thought his 50m price tag was justified, Torres possibly said 'Well, I'm into double-figures as of May, aren't I?'
Rumours that Liverpool executives were seen giggling on the way to Barclays are as yet unsubstantiated.

cozinoz

Two goals against the lowest ranked team in the tournament.

They must be right up there with the brace he scored against Leicester!

JRG

If you're doing upfront for Spain, Rowen mate. Scoring 2 goals should be a bare minimum, of what is required to play there. Sean Dundee would get 2-3 goals a game playing for Spain. That's how good their style, movement, pressing, attacking, possession and total control of a game they have.

Did you see the 2 he missed against Italy?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

You guys would resign him in a second if you could. And it was meant more as a retaliation to Cozinoz's constant posting on the Chelsea wall than a suggestion that Torres' performance was amazing. He was good and he is improving, i guess we will have to see what he does next year.

Rowan

If he got on his knees and begged forgiveness, I still wouldn't want him back. He is half the player he used to be but on double the wages.

He is not nor ever will be the same player imo.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Always looks miserable too me?
Lee73

He's what now, 29? There isn't much improvement going to happen. And why on earth would we sign Torres back? We have Adam Morgan right?
AnfieldUSA

Resigning him would be a good idea (if I were Abramovich I'd resign Torres to the bargain basement bin) but re-signing him would be pointless for any of his previous clubs....because his best years are gone.

We did resign him to you mugs for £50 million billys you idiot, why would we want to re-sign him 1 league goal last season lolollllllloooollooloollll
Rowan you mug

Jaydee YNWA

I guess you guys would prefer Kalou then. I got to admit that guys amazing, just look at his goal scoring record. Kinda embarrassing how a couple of years ago you were competing for titles and now your feeding of the scraps of the bigger clubs in the league.

Rowan

Quick question Ed's, have we ever looked at or been interested in Rickie Lambert of Southampton? The lad knows where the back of net is, wouldn't cost the earth and is a massive Liverpool fan! Robbo! {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool.}

He was on the books at liverpool for a couple of years but was released at 14

Now that ladies & gentlemen is 'tiki taka' football. ... Well done Spain. Just wish we buy players capable of playing that way

Speedy

Just wishing we could play against similar opposition every week.

That is the plan Speedy, obviously.

Got a spare 150m lying around to throw at the team?

That game bored the life out of me. Italy v Croatia was far better.

Not to be harsh, but in reality Ireland are the equivalent of a relegation-fighting EPL team.

Just to put things in perspective. Spain are good but they will not be putting four past Germany.

LIVERPRES

No stop dreaming and wake up, I has been crap since the world cup, put in a transfer request on the last day and moved to a "bigger club". Ed do you know who the secret footballer is for the guardian? Also is the Insider for the daily fail, well exact that? {Ed002's Note - Sorry I have no idea what you are talking about.}

Come on ed, you must have read The Secret Footballer in the Guardian (although I haven't forgiven them for the bull they wrote about Luis). Lots of people thought it was Dammy Murphy, but doesn't seem to be. He writes well enough to be a former LFC player.

I thought it could be Joey Barton but realised they might get sued for an unrealistic description

Did Enrique make the spain squad?

PM {Ed002's Note - No.}

A player who holds on too long to the ball everytime he gets it cannot be in the national squad of Spain where tiki taka is the philosophy of play.

I don't even think he should be first in the Liverpool squad. He costed us the fa cup

We should all wait for announcements then. In the meantime, what should we be doing? Creating bullshyte rumolurs for our own entertainment.

In response to "what business" and "don't hold your breath mate", exactly my point !!!

hey ed(s) I was reading stories bwt that wanyama and it said "possible competition for lucas at DM" I thought he was a centre half?

And if thats the case here other alternatives:-

1. Sandro (very underrated player and still young)
2. Rakitic (Had a good game today i thought and is also a very good player and still young)

But I sppse we do need someone else to play at the side of lucas, cause adam is clumsy giving away stupid freekicks and hes tooslow but id give spearing another season see if he takes his game to the next level.

ACHILLES.

Would love Sandro, he has the potential to be the very best but I doubt it will happen. CQ

Diame to sign. He was meeting Rodgers in a hotel in Liverpool today. Don't know which hotel but this comes from a very good mate of one of the players. Just passing on what I have been told, he has no reason to lie.

Maybe it was a date

ED's thank you for posting this on the main rumours page and being patient with me. I am really hoping that someone connected to LFC sees this post and if FSG are smart which they are they will have people tracking LFC specific social media.

Thank you ED002 for the information I did a little more research and found that Thomas Muller's agent is keeping quite about contact by Inter Milan with Bayern about Muller. Muller himself has stated that he loves Bayern but will consider his future after the Euro's. After checking Bayern's website it would seem like X. Sheraden (Sp) would be a possible replacement for Muller along with Bayern's interest in Luuk de jong. While Muller has interested Chelsea, Man City , and Inter Milan he has been connected to Liverpool in the past. In April footylatest stated that liverpool was interested in Muller to bolster their faltering attack. Of course this is when KD was in charge so things may have changed but there is a connection to liverpool. It seems like man city is his most likely destination I feel like liverpool are in with a shot. If the player is offered the wages he will be tempted regardless of CL qualification, this maybe less true for the older players where earning trophies may carry more weight.

If Muller came to liverpool he would be an automatic starter whereas at Man City he maybe riding the bench which is his reasoning for considering leaving his childhood club. With Muller in the side Suarez would not feel as pressured to carry our attack on his own and opponents would not be able to mark Suarez as effectivily. This will result in better scoring opportunities for Suarez to convert which he would with less pressure pushing him to a 20+ goal a season scorer. Muller is two footed and can cross well and feed the ball well to the feet of the forward which should make Carroll more effective and if Carroll gets his confidence up he will score more as well making an approach for Soldado no longer nessesary.

It seems like liverpool have been linked heavily with Soldado who is 28 / 29 I believe and would cost about 20M and most people would agree would be a fair transfer payment. If we used the same amount proposed for use with Soldado plus an additional 5 - 10M we could get Muller. I have no doubt that his will come on the market but he is not being talked about as much so if lfc move fast after the Euros with a high enough bid to be accepted by Bayern without it going public and waking up the other big spending clubs and offer him a good wage packet we could pull it off.

I rate Thomas Muller as one of the top 10 current footballers currently playing in the world and he is still only 23. He plays in a major league so is not as much of a risk like the south americans in weaker leagues. I would expect that like most younger Germans he would speak at least some English so that would help him adapt to the culture.

Readers please search for my name to read a little more about what I have written about Thomas Muller and how he plays the game but I wanted to bring up a specific instance that behind Gerrards header in the '05 CL Championship game was the most skillful move I have ever seen in a live game and not on Youtube. In the 2010 WC Germany v Argentina game the first German score sums up Mullers ability. Muller was sprinting full speed but fell but had the awarness, skill, and body control to flick on a through ball which unlocked Argentina's defense and began the routing which was the end for Mardonna.

Mardonna by the way refused to sit next to Muller in the pregame press conference believing that he was not an actual player. After the game Muller is quoted as saying "I don't think he believes that I am the ball boy anymore.

If LFC can pull off this transfer along with Sigurdsson as back up they can get the best out of their current players rather than overhauling the entire squad. What are your opionions?

Coley

Opinion....lol

It will necer happen if he is to move man city will offer dzeko up as part of the deal and offer him 200 grand a week how do we compete with that would love for muller to come but it would almost spell the end for carroll

He is quality. But we will never out bid, Man Chitie on wages. Never

Phooey

I agree that we could not compete with 200k a week but we could go for a pay rate equal to Suarez and then hope that the first team football will attract him over the wage difference. If he is willing to leave the club he started with at age 10 because of playing time alone it would not be out of the question that he would take slightly less wages for quaranteed playing time. People can talk all they want but LFC is still one of the most popular and well known sports teams in the world. If they sell it well to him and again move quickly it could happen. In most cases clubs prefer a straight cash offer over a part player exchange.

Also, if we buy A. Johnson we will help man city pay for Muller. Why not just go getMueller himself.

It sounds like you could tell me what he had for breakfast..

We were supposed to develope things in germany via karl heinz what happened there as our previous german players have i think all been good and three of them had bayern connections.

Haha McGeady to LFC? Shocking tonight. Up against the big boys yet again and fails to perform. Over-rated by you lot. Take off your green and orange tinted glasses

I'm Irish and I think McGeady is useless. Most Ireland fans do.

- Something Red -

Mcclean is the irish player worth having a look at

Have to agree that he was terrible, but why does Trap continually play him and Duff inverted? Surely, with Spain bossing play as expected, they would want their wingers to get to the byline and cross. Shocking for me.

Just watching the Spanish game and dreaming of the past, Torres, Alonso, Arbeloa 3 ex reds all world cup and European winners... And people wonder why and where it went wrong for us....

Curled1

Problem compounded further by the sacking of Kenny

Rafa, that's where it went wrong. Although arbeloa was pretty crap anyway.

Hicks and gillete and raffa

Arbeloa was/probably still is underrated. Top quality player, as is every other in the Spain squad to be honest.

Not many people know who B.R. Wants to bring in, none of us really know how he rates players that are already in the squad. So most rumours and such are based on what we as fans think the squad needs, and here is my shopping list:
-RW (Tello) +-£ 7 mil
-CAM (Sigurdsson) +- £ 7 mil
-ST (de Jong) +- £ 15 mil
-LW (Krasic) +- £ 7 mil

Eds are theses signings a) realistic b) possible, or are there other players being looked at?
Keep up the great work; eds, and fellow posters

Stanz {Ed002's Note - Discussed at length - use the search function.}

Haha again the same shopping lists as hundreds of others listening to sites such as caught offside and newspapers. im suprised you havent put kalou in there! bet this wasnt your list a couple of weeks ago. i really hope br and lfc suprise us. YNWA

14 Jun 2012 19:26:29
I hope we sell the following midfielders this summer to bring in more quality.

J. Spearing 2-3 million.
D. Kuyt 1 million (gone).
M. Rodriguez 1-2 million.
A. Aqualani. 4-5 million.
J. Cole 4-7 million.
C. Adam 4-7 million.
S. Downing 10-14 million.
N. Eccleston 2-3 million.
D. Pacheco 2-4 million.

Ins
G. Sigurdson 6-7 million.
M. Krasic 6 million.
S. Canales 6-10 million.
R. Elm 6-8 million.
I. Affelay 6-8 million.
G. Ramirez 15-20 million.
I. Munian 20-25 million.

Add these to

Gerrard (getting on but still good)
Lucas (recovering from LTI)
Henderson (still young)

And that's some midfield for next season, with pace, skill, passing ability and youth in it. If we loan out Shelvey to a lower prem side for a season would do him the world of good.

If we could somehow afford it I'd like us to bring in Roberto Soldado as our new striker.

jonesred

Potentially 84 million on a players on a new midfield. are you mad boy?

Only loaning shelvey to another prem team will improve him

Alternatively you could sign

G. Sigurdson
M. Krasic
S. Canales.
I. Affelay
R. Elm
For the amount we would get for the outs above.
If we then signed one of Rameriez or Munian, and Soldado for the attack that would be a good summers business for me.

If we could manage to get the other midfielder though ( out of Ramirez and Munian ), we would have an excellent squad going forward.

Defence would include
Agger.
Skrtle.
Enrique.
Johnson.
Coates.
Kelly etc.

Midfield
Gerrard.
Lucas.
Henderson.
Elm.
Canales.
Krasic.
Affelay.
Sigurdson.
Rameriez.
Munian.

Strikers.
Soldado.
Carroll.
Suarez.

With our youngsters such as
Sterling.
Suso.
Wisdom.
Samma.
Coady.
Flannagan.
Robinson
Teixera.
Morgan.
Silva etc

We would have assembled a squad that can compete for a top four fish next season, and could quite easily achieve it.

If we missed out on any of the above Steven Defour would be an alternative option.

All the above are viable options for the club this summer, and I really hope we finally have a summer with signings that would get us excited and confident for the new season.

Have Liverpool or any other clubs have an interest in Jordy Clasie? He looks like a class player.

Players I think LFC should consider sighing

Muniain
Ramirez
Honda
Ozil
Tello
Moses

Players out for me would be

Johnson
Adam
Spearing
Aquilani
Henderson

Add jordy claise to that list much better version of allen

Moses, as in victor moses? are you mad....?!

Alan why henderson he was hardly the worst of the new signings and 1 of the youngest with time to improve he is no worse than frank lampard was at his age and he turned out ok

So would you want to come back to a team that sent you out on loan 2 seasons on the trot,by 2 different managers, after proving his class in those last few months that he actually played here. Should never have sent him on loan in the first place, to be replaced by Poulsen, and then Adam what a joke. I can totally understand why he doesnt want to come back to the premier league.

How about aqua legia for all you green fingered types,or aqua lung he does seem to like a bit of a dive,or better still daktari seens as hes going on safari in his ferrari.Sweet.

Right, I don't rate Krasić that much but come on £6m I'd surely a steal?!

I think that Krasic would be worth a punt at 6 mill mate. It all depends on what wages he would be looking.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

If we could get him playing like he was at CSKA Moscow, £6m will be quite the bargain

I totally agree Blair, even at 27 years old.Remember we should hopefully be getting rid of a few high earners in Aqua and maybe Cole and at £6 million is not much of a risk.

Henderson has played 48 times for us this season, 150 league games is in the England team at the Euro's and only turns 22 Sunday ( and still gets a load of stick on here even though he was asked to play out of position a lot ). Now we have a some reserves turning 20 during the upcoming season, why are they all so far behind in development? This for me has to be the season they prove them selves, either send them out on loan and let them impress or trust them with first team football, they have had seasons under the former Barca coaches learning that style apparently so they should be exactly what Rodgers is looking for.

Good point

14 Jun 2012 18:07:54
Can someone tell me why so many people want to see Kalou and Diame just because they are free? Aren't we trying to reduce the wage bill? Why would we bring in these pretty average players to again boost the wage bill, just because theres no upfront costs. Diame is a wigan sub and not a youngster or gem or whatever, why would we need him, we can do so much better! And Kalou has never truely impressed me in all these years, never a regular and again pretty average too be honest.

Because they are bored and the only targets to talk about. The reality is probably there is no interest at all just agent talk...

.We must buy Krasic .....Why??? Beacuse he is 27 and after him will open the doors for sterling....If we buy a young winger the chances of Sterling will be little

If Sterling turns out to be as good as we hope he is, it shoulnt matter who else is in the squad. He'll be in.

Why arent we trying to sign Adebayor....Surely he will be looking for new clubs since Harry has left Spurs.....
Also any chance of getting Kaka....he will be leaving Real Madrid...also he will be looking for regular starting line up....
Also Rodgers should think of kicking out Carroll,Henderson,Adam.....Carroll should be allowed to move to PSG for 15 million plus Gamiero or Nene.....What do you think?....will it work?
Also Lukaku might not be a bad choice!....also might try struddige on loan....
What about Nilmar of Villarreal?..he might want to move clubs since Villarreal have been relegated......

Cheers!

I honestly do not know where to begin in responding to this. It's like reading the crazy-mad dribblings of some hopelessly deluded lovesick teenager.

OK, I am calmer, now. I shall respond by saying only this: your planned purchases and sales would put the club under enormous financial pressure; therefore, I can't see any of these moves happening.

Grammar Nazi

Carroll for 15 mil plus a player worth around 10-15m, what team on earth would agree to that and why would we want Adebayor, his wages would be too high.

Adebayor is exactly the type of player we DONT need. Expensive and overated journeyman who would only want to join Liverpool for a couple of seasons max then jump ship. There are other players outside the BPL who would do the same job if not better...

14 Jun 2012 17:28:10
hi edds great site, just wondering if there would be any real possibility of kalou coming to liverpool instead of just paper talk? (i heard he said he would like to leave the premier league) {Ed002's Note - It is possible. There is interest in Kalou from Schalke, Newcastle and Galatasaray. Previously Olympiakos approached Chelsea with an offer to take Kalou in January but the player has no interest in a move to Greece. Marseille did make an enquiry but the problem would be wages. If that could be resolved it could provide a solution that suits everyone. Interest from Liverpool is not out of the question.}

14 Jun 2012 17:27:55
i love how as soon as we are rumoured to someone, everyone jumps on the bandwagon. notice how everyone have all of a sudden put tello in the list of players we need in, when they probably didnt even know who he was a couple of weeks ago. dont get me wrong would possibly be a great signing. just sick of people going on about sigurdsson, kalou, tello and now krasic. you eds must love the repetition. do they actually read the other posts, there is a hundreds of them.
and if people actually beleive we need kalou, there is something wrong. he is useless and no better than we already have. would not improve the squad.

all in all. i will behing liverpool no matter what happens.
YNWA

This is so true, people dont care how bad the player actually is or dont even know who they are, but because they see one person include him in thier list/see it in a newspaper they forget what they previously thought and think 'oh yeah he'll do' even if its someone like Diame or moses who if someone out the blue said we needed them, they would get laughed at. People need to be a bit more imaginative when creating these lists.

Do you hear yourself, your trying to sound like the world weary hardened old pro, but the truth is your sucking up to the ED's, acting as if you have it all in common and understand their frustrations at us mere dimwits each day. By attempting to patronise everyone else, your smugness is actually more annoying than any amount of bandwagon jumping.

Sorry all for the rant, It just rubs me the wrong way when some people think they know it all.

Kale {Ed002's Note - Many of the posters like being rubbed the wrong way.}

Good point, however, I heard rumor we are hijacking Real Madrid for Benzema, Ozil and Khedira. BR thinks they are ideal.

You missed out cavani i think that 1 still has plenty of legs left lol and higuain

Wow, he really did get rubbed up the wrong way! i wasnt trying to be a know it all or suck up to anyone, just merely pointing out my frustration at coming on here and just seeing post after post about the players. especially when its the likes of kalou.
i wasnt being patronising, obviously someone cant handle the banter! dry up.

Just read a story which shocked me because it was such bull. It said spurs are preparing an audacious bid for Brendan Rodgers to be there new manager only a couple of weeks after he joined Lfc. Shocking isn't it eds?

Obviously, why even post this when you know its complete b*llsh*t?

To the guy who replied the question is why read it and take the time to reply to it if you know its bull doo doo it is a banter site the guy might have just thought that it was funny and thought he would share it i didn't know their is rules that you cant post if its bull doo doo that would make the site very quiet if that was the case

14 Jun 2012 16:52:55
Hi Eds,

Do any of you know what the situation is with Cristian Pasquato? My family in Italy seem to think he is a massive joke after Juve have loaned him out to about 5 different clubs.

Is he back at Juventus this summer and do you know if he is being offered on loan again or possibly for sale?

I doubt he would cut it in the PL, just intrigued as to whether he is being loaned again.

Cheers guys,
ForzaRed {Ed002's Note - Perhaps Atalanta.}

14 Jun 2012 16:49:11
With all the rumours about Krasic, could we not just do a swap deal with Juventus for Aquaman?Maybe give a few extra's based on apperances and the like.Could suit both parties? And if Aquaman does'nt play ball, let him rott.

14 Jun 2012 16:44:29
Is it true that Liverpool are in talks with Juventus concerning the purchase of Milo Krasic.

Would be a decent signing in my book especially since we have very few wingers.

He might be 27 but he still looks like a fairly capable player who, unlike Downing, knows how to support the strikers with quick pace and lots of crosses for the strikers to feed on.

Any other players you think we may sign a part from perhaps Sigurdsson who is beginning to look increasingly likely.

I also hear that Vasco is off the table but i'm not being told why, would you know because he looks like a capable forward?

LFC'S MANGO {Ed002's Note - Read the other posts about Krasic please.}

"at liverpool we never accept second best" - Kenny Dalglish

Kenny did with he's signings

14 Jun 2012 16:42:02
Andy Carroll to PSG rumours have been posted in Caught Offside. So, they are bound to be wrong. Btw Eds, are the Krasic rumours true. Do you think he would be a good signing? {Ed002's Note - I have said more than enough about Krasic today - please read the other posts.}

14 Jun 2012 16:37:25
Eds, i know it's a lot of ifs and buts, but what would you think of the possibility of both sigurdsson and krasic joining for a combined fee of less than downing?
In my opinion could be good business {Ed002's Note - Certainly both could join and I would think the total fee excluding agent fees and taxes would be around or less than the Downing fee. It is a strange question to ask.}

How's it strange? He's asking your opinion eds {Ed002's Note - Do you think the combined heights of players arriving this year will be higher at Liverpool or at Bayern Munich?}

I reckon bayern munich iv heard there after crouch and zigic so overall there average height should be huge lol

You don't get it.. he's comparing last years transfers activity to this years
The possibility of 2 players of sigurdsson and krasic quality for a fee less than when we paid for downing {Ed002's Note - Does that include agent fees, VAT, wages, insurance? This constant effort to make dumb comparisons is laughable.}

It's not laughable?! it's purely stating that we could sign 2 high quality players for AROUND the same price as downing.. wages are a different story.. forget all the agent fees etc the price the club allows us permission to talk to the player will be around the same price as villa quoted
Anyone could have been used as a example Henderson, Suarez etc

What ed002 is saying is stop thinking real life transfers are the same as footy manager. It is not a lump sum of X million pounds. It goes so much beyond that e.g tax, agents, installments, bonuses, signing on fees etc... hence why you cant compare the fees of three players, two who haven't even signed yet. {Ed002's Note - You are right, and the amounts of money English clubs are expected to pay, a significant commitment by the business.}

I thought it was a strange question. why single out downing. he is not the only player we overpaid for

14 Jun 2012 16:32:45
Ed, I'm not questioning ur knowledge, but you say Liverpool and fenerbache are the teams interested in krasic
Would you expect fenerbache to drop there interest now they have kuyt, or do you expect them to deply kuyt in a more forward role {Ed002's Note - They are looking for a winger still.}

14 Jun 2012 16:26:00
Krasic and Siggurdson for approx outlay of 13m and possibly Kalou on a free, its looks likes trickery and pace are the order of the day for Rodgers, about time too, Suarez can't be expected to do it all on his own.

Kale

Obviously they need to be confirmed and we shouldn't assume, but don't half look good value compared to last years buys?

Kalou, good buy? are you serious. id rather play downing than him.

Kalou is free, and if we can get him on a decent wage, he will be a decent player addition for the squad

Like it or not kalou is a better goal scorer than what we currently have.. bar Suarez and Gerrard (at his best)

Get him on a decent wage. yeah alright. wouldnt you rather use that wage amount on a much better player even if we have to spend to get them! there are much better options.

14 Jun 2012 16:24:30
Krasic 6m
Tello 7m
Jovetic 20m
Miccoli free to replace kuyt

Sell aquilani, get Granero to replace Adam and cole to replace maxi.

Sig????

14 Jun 2012 16:15:27
Posts about Elm have me worried. He is not very good at football. People state the way he hits the ball as a good point, thought that hitting the ball was a bare minimum for a player. Liverpool fans used to know their eggs. If they look at this player and feel he is good then clearly they have no knowledge of decent players?
Jordy Clasie would have cleaned the gear midfield up last night btw. Big mistake not choosing him to play

What do you think off Milos Krasic ? Just a basic conclusion because I've never seen him

Thank you {Ed002's Note - He certainly has ability.}

14 Jun 2012 15:55:40
Joe Cole, Aquilani "the Little Prince"? Seriously? I would rather give the chance for the youngsters and get rid of these wage grabbers as soon as possible. In fact as far as I'm concerned I do not want to hear Aquilani and LFC mentioned in the same sentence anymore.

HK

What about suarez nutmegs aquilani 4 times before sliding it past the keeper to make it 4-0 for lfc?

Problem is, where do they go. We are paying them more than they are worth

14 Jun 2012 15:53:19
macca, this is not a rumour but a question, it was reported in the Liverpool Echo that a number of season ticket holders have been moved from their long term seats as changes are being made to the ground.
Do you have any info on whether this indicates that FSG are going to redevelop Anfield ?

thanks

Look at Macca rumours, he reported that Anfield was to be redeveloped ages ago.

Someone posted earlier asking why we are after Gylfi - when we have Hendo who played attacking midfield at Sunderland.

I typed a reply, but it was lengthy - and talked about our squad and tactics - so I posted it here instead if thats okay.

----------------------------------------

First, We need a good squad and competition for places. Hendo will be kept I would presume.

With Rodgers preferred formation, there will be room in the squad for quite a few central midfield options (all varying in styles of play, and issued distinct roles within the team).

Based on the Swansea approach - which is (as we know) largely influenced by Spanish football (or Dutch, more correctly) - Essentially, a flexible 433.

Usually Rodgers expected midfield setup will involve:

*I put some names of contenders for each role - some are interchangeable - I just named whoever is at the club, some may be sold etc. just displaying a few options*

(1) One DM capable of linking midfield and defence, shielding the back 4 and maintaining possession. (Lucas? Spearing?)

(2) One box-to-box type-midfielder alongside him - this player must be capable of maintaining possession and offer the technical ability to spot a pass - and must be fit as a fiddle to control the middle alongside his more defensive-minded partner, supporting attack and defence where needed, but when in possession - this player will play a key role in dictating the play. Do not expect a Tim Cahill, gung-ho-style box-to-box player - this role requires discipline as well as ability, holding the centre and being available for passes centrally is crucial. Think Xavi. (Hendo? Shelvey? Adam?)

(2) Ahead of these two, one midfielder will have the role of supporting the frontmen (1 central striker & 2 widemen, likely inside forwards). Playing between the lines, this player will be expected to link play, and to create and score goals - linking up with quick interplays with the inside forwards and central strikers on the edge of the box, looking either for a killer pass, or a shot on goal but with freedom to link up with, and get beyond the central striker knowing he will be covered by his CM partner in the 'Xavi' role when he does.. Basically a European No.10. Oh for a young Jari Litmanen.....(Stevie? Gylfi? Aqua? Cole?)

These 3 midfielders will be offered the width/outlets needed to maintain possession of the ball by (a) the FB's in central areas (think Barca) and (b) by the inside-forwards higher up the pitch, who will squeeze between the lines of the opposition defence and midfield as said FB's advance higher up.

The DM (Lucas) player will likely drop off deeper (or hold, depending on how high the defensive line is) from his position when the FB's advance, playing almost as an advanced sweeper as Agger and Skrtel split to cover the space left by the advancing FB's (think Sammer) essentially turning the system into a flexible 3-4-3 with wingbacks when in possession, allowing more attacking options both on (and available for) the ball.

Very Ajax. I like it. Lucas could be phenomenal in such a system - I hope he comes back in good shape.

So could Johnson and Enrique, the latter will prefer this system as the space he likes to drive into will not be occupied as often as last year, as our inside forwards will tuck in to compliment his penchant for driving at defences.

I expect Gerrard, Lucas, Hendo and Gylfi all to be kept. I hope Shelvey is too, rather than loaned out - I'm a big fan.

Aqua, Adam, Cole should be worried - but remember that Adam was pretty good until Lucas got injured - and Kenny playing him in a DM role was catastrophic (cos he cannot tackle, nor is marking his strongpoint - obviously).

With the bulk of the defensive responsibility lifted from him, I feel he could do a job in either advanced CM position. I recall seeing stats that show he does a hell of a lot more running that he is given credit for too - which is why I think he could yet stay. I'd give him another year personally - but if a good offer came in, I'd consider that too - he can do a good job, other areas are higher priority imo.

Such as cover in DM. A central striker to rival Andy. A wide left cover/competition for Suarez - a wide right player to compete with Downing (likely he will play there - he could improve within the new system I hope) - and cover at LB would be nice, having to switch Johnson there repeatedly is not ideal and Robinson is too young to be a lone understudy.

I like our central and right-sided defensive options. Excellent.

I'd like to see Gulacsi given a place in the squad - and given a go in the EL. He always impressed me when I saw him in action, but whether he has the ability to play as a 'sweeper-keeper' remains to be seen - so perhaps cover will be requied if both Jones and Doni leave.

Reina is excellent. I hope to see him at his best again next year.

We have lots of young talent (Suso, Sterling, Morgan, Coady, Teixiera [insert favourite here]) who can all help to fill the gaps left by the likes of Maxi, Kuyt, Aqua, Cole (or whoever happens to leave).

With a few shrewd signings. We could have a really young and exciting squad for next season. I can't wait.

BJH YNWA (I didn't fancy sticking this at the bottom after all that typing! I hope it was of some use to the original poster. Any thoughts on the new style/system? on who will play where etc?)

ps - If you read all that - get a cup of tea. You deserve it.

Nice post. I have been hoping for a 4-3-3 for quite a while - suarez-type forwards play best in this scheme!

Drigan

V.Good post but it seems you haven't got space for Gerrard in your starting XI. But aside from that is very well planned and thought out post.

Sorry yes you have mentioned him as 'Stevie' sorry pal. Therefore it is an excellent post!

Great post
Red Greco

Very long post!

Good post I agree entirely with you. Would like to see gerrard used on the right of a front 3. That would indeed mean a starting role for Adam (based purely on current squad) will be interesting to see if he can improve under BR. CQ

Cheers for the replies folks. I posted at the top again, taking a look at our current squad for the sake of discussion. (If it gets through!) It was a long reply so I stuck it at the top so all the typing was not in vain.

Cheers again for the replies & kind words.

Also, I totally agree with Drigan on the Suarez in a front 3 statement. (I'm assuming he means on the left of a front three)

Hopefully with a few signings, we'll get the best out of Luis in such a system, and also have the depth to cover for injuries ensuring we can keep to the same system.

Constantly changing systems certainly did not help last year. Players cannot be expected to find form and consistency when their role in the side is constantly changing. Nor can they be expected to build on-pitch relationships - and/or a better understanding of/with their teammates.

I replied to CQ above too.

BJH YNWA

ps - We'll just get Hernandez and Cavani to join Luis and then we'll be sorted, eh Drigan! lol.

pps - Only kidding eds! Chill!

Ed what are chances of Miguel Veloso? Look like real quality and will not only cover up but even make Lucas fight for the DM position

I heard the rumours about PSG's interest in Andy Carroll, SELL HIM! for 20€ we lose alot of money yes but then we could get another world class attacker like Soldado that fits in Brendan Rodgers philosophy to play. And the other buys would be Sigurdsson, Affelay and Gaston Ramirez.

Why is everyone slagging off Andy Carroll? Still very young. Absolutely ripped John Terry apart at Anfield and he came good in the latter stage of the season. A good pre-season and he keeps fit he'll score 2o goals next season!

Carroll will turn into a goal monster and we need to keep him!

The Crow

Last season saw evidence he has potential. Why throw that away?

Eds without sounding disrespectful to you guys as i understand the time/effort you put in to the site but my question is: Is it possible to stop posting the same questions over and over. Im sure i can talk on behalf of most readers of the site that both the repeated questions and the Copy and Paste answers from the eds are getting very agrivating. Please remember i realize why you guys copy and past but if you didnt reprint the same question over and over you wouldnt have to print the same answer over and over. The quality of information on the site has slipped in the past couple of years and im sure the eds realise this aswell.

Quigz23
P.S this is not a cheap shot at eds just an observation from a loyal reader. {Ed002's Note - If we just cut questions completely we get torrents of abuse because the posters simply cannot be bothered to read what has already been posted. It is pretty much a no win situation for us.}

Ed what about weekly headlines at the start of the page..ie Munian -then the answer to his moving..etc
Everyone that comes on here a lot could go straight to the posts. Must drive you mad all day.
RNred {Ed002's Note - We tried providing summaries before and it was unsuccessful - although one of the posters took it on and did a nifty job.}

Ed002 , maybe in terms of site management you could just direct the player requests to player profiles?

Gh*Lfc {Ed002's Note - That won't help as I have no knowledge of what they say.}

14 Jun 2012 15:04:32
Hi eds, since Redknapp has left Spurs does that mean we are favourites to sign Soldado if he leaves Valencia since the only other club to be heavy linked with him was them? {Ed002's Note - It really does not work like that.}

14 Jun 2012 15:02:56
Eds, i was wondering what is the latest updates or news on the dof or the equivalent two positions. Its seem to have gone quite of late?
thanks.

Look up a picture of "honest" John McKenna, our first manager 1892.
now look up a pic of Brendan Rodgers.

stick a tash on BR, and wow !
uncanny.
wouldnt mind his first season success either.
love this part,
"It was a sign of things to come as the Reds secured promotion to the Football League's Second Division at the first time of asking.

Nicknamed 'Honest John', McKenna used his connections north of the border to draft in a number of Scottish players, thus earning Liverpool the moniker 'The Team of the Macs'.

And success continued for Liverpool as they swept all before them in the Second Division, remaining undefeated throughout the 1893-94 campaign.

However, with no automatic promotion system in place, the Reds had to face Newton Heath in a play-off match for the right to be elevated into the top flight.

The team now known as Manchester United had finished bottom of Division One, and were promptly dispatched 2-0 by Liverpool at Ewood Park.

Upon returning to the city, the glorious players were carried through the streets on the shoulders of ecstatic fans.

Piddy.

If BR grew a mustache like that I would support to the ends of the earth.

Could one of the Ed's clear up what happened between Gomez and Liverpool? (If anything) we were linked with him a couple years back when he was having troubles at Bayern and I know we won't get or attempt to get him or anything just want to know if we had any serious interest or not.

Cheers {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were certainly interested but would not match the fee Bayern Munich were looking for.}

Which was Ed?

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - I don't really recall - perhaps 30M euros or so.}

Typical how many quality players have we let slip for stumping up a relatively few more quid

Its strange when you think we paid 35 million pounds for carroll why not go that bit further to get gomez i think with him in the team last year we would have got top 4 or very close we got 50 for torres so really would have mattered to have gone to 35 million euro's every time i watch gomez i think what if shame hope carroll comes good like gomez did in his second season

14 Jun 2012 14:33:22
what price bilbao will want for muniain eds? {Ed002's Note - Muniain was touted around the clubs on behalf of Bilbao in January - and the two clubs in England that were approached were Chelsea and Manchester United. The asking price was 40M euros. They won't get it because I don't think clubs would risk half of that on a player who is young and has had some off field issues. If the price comes down to a reasonable level (20M euros might be an acceptable figure) I can see interest from several English clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool. Napoli and Roma interest is still there and rumours abound of Juventus and Malaga interest but perhaps an eventual move to Barcelona beckons.}

Just one quick question for you. Realistically how many players will liverpool buy this transfer windows ?

I wonder why some lfc fans are so shortcited and desperate. They want us to go for any and evry available play: kalou, elia, krasic..wat wud they add to us, havnt we learnt the lessons of panic and irational buys...we nid to rebuild this team around promising and gifted players and not 'tested &proven failures'

14 Jun 2012 14:09:54
Sigurdsson sigurdsson sigurdsson. why is all that talk and speculation over an over rated player i can't see him has the quality to bring us back to glory days. as usual we target 1000 players and then waste a hell of money and buy players like downing, henderson and now sigurdsson! while on the other hand we can go for other quality players, and now we've just missed out on giroud for 15million not 30/40 like the eds said . Although I'm a fanatic liverpool fan, I can't see bright days coming any soon.

Please go for :
Aly cissokho 9milion pounds
Ever Banega/Fernando Reges/Fellaini or even Hamsik for a maximum 30 deserved million euros
gaston ramirez
take the risk and sign pato and krasic ..
please relate ed

Living in swansea ive seen gylfi play and hes a class act.how do you say hes over rated? when did you watch him?

You do know footy manager is available for pc don't you?

Gh*Lfc

Aly Cissokho is a woeful player, can't defend, or cross the ball. Those are the two main skills of a fullback. Reges is good but unproven, you've been playing a bit too much FIFA, Fellini will never play for us and Hamsik is a dream. Would cost atleast £40 million plus huge wages. Wake up.

Talk about overrated players cissokho is average at best (can't defend), pato is always injured and krasic couldn't make it at juventus. Sigurdsson on the other hand is younger, has scored wherever he played and was a fan favourite,

You think sigurdsson is over rated but you ask for fellaini?

Do you think there is a chance of us signing the stewart/goalkeeper of the mars advert if reina leaves? Would love to see him at the club

That reminds me of that Stan Boardman tale about when sweet sellers used to walk round the ground and a 19 stone fat fella was supposed to have feinted at the back of the Kop, when it was terracing. He was lifted down to the front on everyone's outstretched hands. When he was carried to the bottom, he got up, bought two mars bars off the sweets lady, and jumped back in the crowd. Lol.

we only need 4 players

A striker, winger, attacking midfielder and 1 all rounder

Striker; Soldado the guy finishes, he is playing is Spain and is not getting a look in the national squad (there are 4 strikers ahead of him; David Villa, Torres, Llorente, Negredo), he knows playing for Liverpool will make him an international (joke).

Winger; Milos Krasic - for a fee of 6-8m would be a STEAL, we need a natural winger as a outlet, someone who can take the ball past players and keep going, someone who will support the strikers in the box by coming in late.

Attacking midfielder; Sigurdsson (seems inevitable, hes not the finished article and is very much still progressing)

The versatile Mauricio Isla; right back/lb, right winger, right midfield and center midfield. Could there be a better replacement for dirk kuyt than him.

"can take the ball past players and keep going" - Not wrong there mate, he just runs straight, keeps going and going, gets to the by-line, and yes you guessed it. Keeps going! I have honestly not seen a more one dimensional player in a LONG time. Maybe some coaching would help, but it looks as though managers just give up trying to teach him to make decisions. I guess some things just can't be coached.

I think our best realistic target would be Adam Johnson. I thinki he is a fantastic player and would work well with the team.
Ramirez, Tello and Boudebouz would be great as well. But let's see

14 Jun 2012 13:13:13
Rumours circulating about our blue brothers across the park loosing their manager to Spurs.

Its ok if they act quickly they can get steve kean or steve bruce or even mick mcarthy lol

Bruce has gone to a bigger club than Spurs already...Hull City!!

And that was after liverpool had asked

14 Jun 2012 13:05:22
expected to leave and already gone

eccleston
adam 5m
spearing, 2m
maxi, 1m
jones
kuyt, 1m
amoo
aurelio
pacheco
total around 10-11m

Ins

LW/F; Tello 7m
Winger; Krasic 7m
AM; Sigurdsson 7m
Striker; Soldado 20m
£41m with 30m net.

This would be nice. I think we could possibly tick over next season with these additions. Obviously the original poster fotgot Aqua going and maybe Joe Cole also? Would lower the wages a fair bit. If Suarez does up sticks and move on, then we would need another forward, but the net spend would possibly be reduced to what Fsg might be willing to spend.

I am 100% behind the appointment of BR as manager.
I hope he is given time to develop the team, squad and playing style to what he wants.
If that means another couple of seasons out of the top 4 then so be it.

However, I was just asked a question by an Arsenal fan..........Do I think that if for some reason we find ourselves in or near the bottom 3 around Christmas (similar to what happened with RH) will he still be given time or will there be a backlash and BR ending up being replaced?

I personally want us to keep a manager for at least 3 seasons, but reading the boards you can see that there are those already against his appointment & those that were and are against any appointment because it meant KK had been moved on.

My sauces have told me that Burger is a cert for ketchup and Brown is nailed on for bacon. There is a rumour that mayonaise is good for chips but I'm unsure of this myself.

Only passing on what I have heard in the LFC canteen.

Not sure if that combination would work myself.
sweet chilli to play alongside burger maybe cheese and mushroom with the bacon

It's funny that people have said winning the Carling Cup is not an achievement and many of us Liverpool fans guilty of this in the past.

Funny to see on the news following Harry redknapp, footage of their carling cup defeat to Man U, spurs player dejected (even tears!) and man u celebrating like they had achieved a great deal.

RedLee

I think carling cup very secondary to league position the game has evolved away from cups to league .. mal

Harry Redknapp next England manager. Woy should get sacked by the end of the tournament like most managers.

I think 'Arry might bide his time and try and get the Chelsea job.... he'll only have to wait 4 weeks or so.

well ed the things liverpool are lacking is someone with pace and someone who can put the ball in the net are we looking at any players who can have both ? thanks {Ed002's Note - The players being looked at are as discussed in the posts.}

14 Jun 2012 11:23:31
Looking like there's some truth in the krasic rumours. We could do a lot worse, he has pace to burn, skill-full and scores goals, only worry is, he doesn't track back and playing in front of Johnson that isn't the best. Whats your opinion ed?

If BR wants to "mould" a young and dynamic team for the future, its hard to see him wanting players older than 27 or 28 who already have their best years behind them.

How do you no lol are you his brother lol.

Scouse Ben

14 Jun 2012 11:08:37
Talk of Krasic is interesting, but surely at 27, he is just a bit old.
I mean we need to be signing decent wingers with a good 5-7 years ahead of them!.

Not many about mate, we cant attract the rising stars without champs football. so why not bring in the veterens to get it.

Scouse Ben

Blimey have we really reached a point where 27 is to old, come on now every team needs some experienced players not just youth

RED KENNY

Munian, Ramirez, susaeta, afeelay, pedro or tello would all be good additions
If I had to pick 2 I would go for Munian and Ramirez but any of them would be great signings plus my 2 I picked along with tello and pesto are the least likely

27 and too old...

27 a veteran...

How old are you guys, 12? :-)

Marc

Would anyone have bought Gerrard when he was 27..? Ermmm....

Myk

Its all relative to FSG's policy of 'resale'.
A 27yr old player signs for 3 or 4 years, would demand a 'higher wage' than a 22yr old.
Not a very attractive 'resale' option at 31 or 32 .

Gerrards not a winger, so one has to compare 'apples with apples', not 'apples with pears'.

How old was Aquilani when we bought him for £20m, now 3 years later he is only worth 15% of that or £3m.
The players have to be younger, so that they can adjust to the 'clubs' style of play.
Think of Downing 26 or so when we bought him, used to playing a certain way, and unable to change or play differently, and look how effective (sic) he was for LFC.

So what is the average 'career' of a player at the top level, 10 or maybe 12 years, at 27 or 28 that player is already "well on" 60% into that career.

14 Jun 2012 11:04:13
I know he's a long shot but do we have any interest in Marek Hamšík? {Ed002's Note - No.}

in my opinion 3 realistic signings would sort Liverpool out, sigurdsson, elm & de jong, more quality players are welcome as long as its not people like kalou, diame etc.. also if skrtel leaves we should bank the money and bang coates in, I think he deserves a chance, same goes for sterling give him first team football, I reckon the team would be looking pretty strong with these changes, out.. adam, spearing, maxi and then if you think of it its like we will have another new signing.. Lucas will be back!

I would agree wiyh you except that i want Clasie instead of Elm.

Maxi is actually a decent player, Kenny just didn't play him

Agree with most of your post but I disagree about elm, I'm not impressed by him at all would rather have moussa sissoko, he's got a lot more to his game, charlie adam is better than elm, ed what ever happened to our interest in sissoko? Cheers. Dennis 89 . {Ed002's Note - Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko has attracted interest from Lyon, Roma, Genoa, Juventus, Liverpool and probably Napoli. Arsenal and Milan's previous interest waned over last summer. Damien Comolli let Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool see his man as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard but for some reason Liverpool failed to make the final push in the summer. Sissoko remains available but Liverpool have yet to follow up their previous interest. Right now I would have to say Roma are most likely to get their man this summer.}

Brendan Rodgers is looking into the possibility of offloading Andy Carroll and replacing him with Darren Bent. Sig, Kalou and Krasic will be announced soon.

God help us if that's the case!

Stop talking crap Darren Bent for Andy Carroll get real man

If LFC could get £20m from PSG for AC, then surely it is a 'no brainer'!.
Those funds could be used to secure 2 strikers (one required to replace Kuyt anyway).
As much as he showed some glimpses of ability in the last month of the EPL season, he is still very average (just not quick enough).

If this was true (but can't see it myself) we should go all out for Gonzalo Higuain a Quality finisher i can't believe he's not first choice at Madrid.

In answer to remarks previous, Brendan is with the Spanish squad, at Invitatation of Del Bosque, at Euros. He is, as has been well documented, a student of the game, and his preferred tactics are pass and move, and high pressing game. He told owners it would take a while, but the Barca blueprint is his preferred target. He was going to Euros before taking post, anyway. I was at Anfield, last season when Swansea, played us off the park, and I have to say, they are the only side, last year who deserved more! We are not in such bad shape, really, and just require a little pace down the flanks. Suarez will be asked to play a deeper role(Missing 9) next year, which will give him freedom to roam, but stay tight to playmakers, et al Messi.Spanish side side, no forwards? We will be a fit side next year, because this way is aligned to constant movement throughout the team. Not sure where Carroll will fit in, but definitely, a superb plan B. Glad we didn't have option of Redknapp, he's a wide boy, nothing else, and I wish Roy, and Red lads all the best on our early pre season tour of Eastern Europe! Summer well, and I'll see you all mid August, when the battle commences. YNWA, JFT96, The King is Dead, long live the King!! Steve1961

I read a tom hicks quote referring to him as "a rational voice of LFC supporters" after he defended h&g a few years ago at the point when our future was looking extremely bleak. Hey ed's! Great site! Just wondering what positions you think we are looking to strengten in the summer window?
1-2 of these wingers:
Elia(not sure of price) Krasic(6-8m) A.Johnsen(15m) or Kalou(free)
1 attacking mid:
Sigurdsonn(6.8m)(likely)
1 center mid:
Diame(free) Ramirez(15m) or De Jong(8-12m) or even challenge man c with bid for milner
1 striker:
Berbatov(6-8m)(unlike but not impossible)
De jong(14-16m)(preffered) or bendtner(8-12m)(looked classy vs portugal)
Maybe 1 CB:
S.Kjaer(8m) should Skrtl leave
What do you think?
Looking forward to the new season here in south africa and positive brendan rodgers can bring the glory days back in the future! Hope Suarez stays as he's world class!

Thanks!

If Ozil is becoming out of favour at RM I think he put a few extra million on his price tag last night.. He was very disciplined and worked really hard.. And before people say 'dream on' etc, I wouldn't expect him to come to us without CL, just observing..

Myk

He isnt out of favour at Madrid at all, one of their best players

i wonder if its lazy journalism linking us with Krasic again, seems 2 seasons in a row we are going to get him, pinch of salt on this one i think.. im glad we r not linked all through the media atm.. a nice surprise is something we all need i tbhink.

im hoping we get in a couple that we dont know about till it happens or havent theard of, Ie: Coates. Tho Tello would be a good buy.

hi ed, is moussa dembele a good idea of a signing ive read it in all magazines and also whats going on with siggurdson when will he sign fo us? cheers ed
from Roey Red 05 {Ed002's Note - I don't see Dembele moving to Liverpool and you will need to wait a little longer to see about Sigurdsson, but there is interest.}

14 Jun 2012 09:45:16
Eds, can Liverpool bid for Joe Allen? Is the situation with us not signing a player from Swansea for 12 months simply a gentlemans agreement? Or if another club bids can we also bid? Many thanks Mitch {Ed002's Note - Liverpool will not attempt to buy Swansea players for 12 months.}

14 jun 2012 09:39:26
morning ed,s and fellow reds,i just read a story on a site stating that;totteham are making an audacious bid for rogers as a replacement for redknapp.i mean who does tottenham think they are, making a bid for a manager already appointed by a club (liverpool)bigger than theirs,or do they think that totteham is an attractive prospect than the migty reds?.seriously, they should not compare themselves with our club anytime any day ,because we are 'far bigger and better than them anytime any day'.sorry for the rants but i was disgusted when i read it.

Fella I'm a spurs fan and if you really believe that then you probably believe in the easter bunny, the tooth fairy and father christmas!

Believe what exactly,

1. Spurs would even want Rodgers

or

2 Liverpool are the bigger club

LOL

14 Jun 2012 09:31:08
I think tello would be great!

14 Jun 2012 09:29:53
Morning all,
Siggurdson in (£7m) Adam out (£5m)
Affelay in (£7m) Maxi out (£3m)
A Johnson in (£15m) Kuyt already out (£1m) Total transfer spend £20m and I reckon we'd deffo be a much stronger team for it! Carroll will continue to improve and every defender in the league is terrified of Suarez. T bone.

14 Jun 2012 09:10:25
this summer we will see what kind these american owners are.
i believe that i have some knowledge about football.
we made some mistakes last year buying adam and downing for the money we paid for them there are better players out there.
then we lost lucas and we needed to play spearing and we all could see that spearing can not control the midfield.
caroll will come good once the team starts playing better and futher up the field with quality crosses he will be more than fine.
suarez was a great buy.
enrique had his ups and downs.
henderson is young and needs time but he has quality.
reina
kelly
johnson
skrtl
quates
enrique
lucas
gerrard
suarez
caroll
shelvey
bellamy
sterling
13 quality players i am not saying sell adam downing this summer but get compitition for them in.
we need to replace maxi and kuyt and CARRA.
and a new striker with pace.
1 defender
2 midfielders
2 wingers
1 striker
thats 6 players.if we cant buy what we need this summer we should only buy quality.
what ever we buy we need quality,i believe its better to get 2 players with the quality like suarez than 6 adam level.
we had alot of bad luck last season and were better than the table showed.
we are not as bad as we are all discussing here, thats what i am trying to say.
the owners need to spend this summer and hold on to some players that they dont want.
but if they spend and we get some quality in i see no reason to be afraid of arsenal newctl tottenham.
man manc chelsea will be better but in years to come we will be a force again.

i am from malta so ther could be some spelling mistakes.

LIVERPOOL FOREVER FOREVER FOREVER

Very well written mate. Spot on the fact that we were unlucky last season. We just need minor changes and no need for lot of spending. I think BR will be a little conservative with his spending in his first season. Dont expect any 20M signings. (thats my point of view).
Cheers
PKM

Good post mate, can't fault you. I also agree, best to add high quality slowly than to get 4 or 5 squad players. It was just that little bit of 'magic' that stopped us finishing 20 points higher than we did.

I have found out that Rodgers held talks with Suarez and has told him that he wants him to learn how to play the 'false 9' role that Messi and Fabregas play for club and country respectively and that he is going to be supported by 2 new wide forwards.

Stan

Is that a little bit like Downing's false winger role?

"false 9" role refers to the most important offensive part of the pitch.
type of an enforcer type role, winning balls back early, but being so high up the pitch high skill and awareness levels are needed to suit, and suitable support to join in.
Suarez will flourish in this type of role IMO.

would have to be part of a 4-3-3 set-up tho, i believe AC will be utilised as the solo attacker, supported by 2 wide players, Suarez and Gerrard.

4-1-4-1 in attack, 4-5-1 in defence.

14 Jun 2012 08:24:37
Maybe slightly off topic but i have a good feeling about Rodgers, i really do believe he will take Liverpool to the top.
Tello and Berbatov would be 2 great signings IMO, i would let Carroll go if offered £20m.

So you would let Carrol go and bring in Berbatov? WOW! Thank god you're not the manager!!

MR EM

Berbatov? Really

Yeah definitely swap Carroll for Berbatov, Carroll is nowhere near as good.

Are you Fergie trying to off load players again..............

No, I'm King Kenny trying to get my job back.

14 Jun 2012 08:15:20
Now Arry has left spurs should we nip in for him to be on our transfer committee. We are no doubt going to hear Dave Whealan selling Martinez to Spurs and how great he his. Maybe a good time to enquire about some spurs players. Van der vart for example

I would take Defoe for no more than 8m as regardless of what people think he can score goals. They have other quality players but im unsure any will want the move. Dont want any of the cast offs

I would want to keep Arry Redknapp as far away from any Liverpool transfers as humanly possible. Why would you want him on a committee to discuss transfers just so he can then tell the waiting media every player that has been discussed?

JRG

Arry also on the panel at the s*n.
Redknapp links with sly sports.
and his eyes are to close together, my ma always told me not to trust them!

Moooornin!

I've just seen a conversation between Paul Tyrrell (Director of Communications for Everton FC) & Oliver Kay (The Times) on Twitter. They were saying that LFC took on more debt last summer. This was apparently reported by The Guardian in May. It's the first I've read about it. Cause for concern?

Coxy82 {Ed002's Note - It is a losing battle to try and explain or discuss the finances Coxy. Most posters are really not interested in the truth about where the club are at.}

Maybe most aren't but I certainly am, as are a number of other decent posters that I've read, particularly in relation to the Aquilani saga.

Please keep posting any financial info that comes to light. Anybody that's not interested can skip the info in the same way that I tend to skip rumours that mention betting odds, FIFA computer games, etc.

I am also very interested. If one of the Eds could take the time, I for one would be grateful and receptive. {Ed002's Note - The problem is it just leads to more and more abuse and we have got to the point where the Eds are completely sick of it. As Ed001 has already said he has pretty much given up on editing the Liverpool page. If there are specific questions I will try and answer them.}

Thanks anyway, I'll have to do some research for myself (D'oh!)
It's a shame the idiots are spoiling it for the rest of us.
Keep up the good work Eds

Coxy82 {Ed002's Note - If you have specific questions then feel free to ask.}

don't ya think of Lucas can work on his passing ability( like he did in brazil ) could be quite the midfielder?LONG passing mainly
AnfieldUSA

Lucas already has an excellent passing range, He was getting better and better too before his injury.

I hope he's back looking sharp soon. We need him. He's one of our best players.

is rogers on holiday?

No, BR's has been kidnapped by Roman, fergie, wenger, mancini et al as they fear what the brave BR will do to them this season.

Oh yeah right that was the DT's

just wondering:

before i go any further i am happy we got BR as manager and will give him 100% of my support but do you think harry redknapp would of been likley to take the LFC job if he was without a job before we got BR? and would you be happy with Harry redknapp as manager i know i would of loved to see him in control of LFC but like i said im glad we got BR

Now there's am idea if we fall behind with 7 minutes to go in a match. Just watching Santos and Corinthians in the Copa Libertadores now, Santos were 0-1 down at home and 21 minutes ago, they just turned out the lights. They'll wait 30 minutes and if they don't come back on.

Match abandoned!

Simple.

ohhh.... lights back on... Just have to watch more Ganso and Neymar i suppose...

We're buying Neymar (according to my dog)

What is everyones obsession with dos Santos he is rubbish.....just because he scored a screamer for Mexico doesn't mean he's good enough for Liverpool......what's your opinion on him eds?
Red till Dead! {Ed005's Note - He's failed to live up to expectations.}

I'm guessing that's one of the only times you've watchind him for Mexico then? He's always playing well for them. I'm not saying sign him, as i don't really know if he'll ever show the dedication he needs to live up to his obvious talent, but if he decided to grow up and display a bit more professionalism, i'd love to have him.
I have to say, alot of the support for him on this site comes from me, as i just love watching him play, and i'd love to see him do it on a regular basis at club level... But who knows, we may never see that happen, but if it did, why not in a Liverpool shirt. He's still quite young.

Ed's and anyone else, just wondered if anyone else thinks Harry leaving will increase chance of LFC finishing higher up table? i am not saying they would finish avove us but there was a fair chance in my honest opinion that they would fight for top 4 spot like (hopefully) us.

I know lots of people do not rate Harry, which i find strange personally, (but each to their own) but i cannot see anyone taking that team and producing same form as last couple of years

gareth {Ed005's Note - Of course losing a manager the players liked, and perhaps losing one or two names would help but I think we need to concentrate on ourselves, and improving our team and our results.}

I agree ed. Blinders on, full steam ahead.

14 Jun 2012 01:55:36
Dodgy Harry tried the Ode Mexican standoff and lost!
Couldn't of happen to a nicer Guy!!!

Hows he dodgy? Why do you say he isn't nice bloke. As far as blown out of proportion managers go, harry is one of the best and most honest. At least he talks some sense and admits to his own mistakes and failures, and does not blame the referee or other crap on losing

gareth

gareth

Gareth, redknapp always blamed other people when his team lost, but took all the credit when they won. He is a self publicist with a huge ego who has done buggar all in the game. So overrated. Look at spurs squad, it is quality and what exactly did they do? Qualify once for the cl in 4 years. Wow. Ask any spurs fan if they're happy hhe's gone and most will say 'yes'.

Way off i think but appreciate your point of view. If i was a spurs fan i would be absolutely gutted. Okay, maybe he is arrogant but with some reason. To say he has not achieved anything in football is crazy crazy talk! Look at the money he often had to spend and how well teams did. look at how attractive the sytle of game he sets up; the passing, moving has been amazing at times.
I know i am starting to sound like i love the guy...lol....but do not understand why so many people knock him. Funny really as i bet you and apparently half the country wanted him as England manager??
Why is that if he is so crap??

gareth

Without doubt the most overrated manager in football - in nearly 30 years won 1 FA Cup - not a great CV, one of the best at illegally tapping up players - and of course allegedly corrupt - his dog is a financial expert apparentlly.

Ask West Ham, Sothaampton and Pompey Fans what they think of him?

Look at the situation when he's left clubs... WH, Pompey, Southampton... then re-ask your question....

Richards

Gareth Bale? Is this you??

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Yet he supported above everyone else to be ENGLAND MANAGER!

so at least answer that rather than talk nonsense lol

Eds I know this is the liverpool page but is it true that harry redknapps been sacked or resigned or is it all bull**it {Ed002's Note - He has left Spurs.}

14 Jun 2012 01:06:13
Hi Eds & Reds,

No doubt there will be a few more numpties who'll say why did'nt we wait for Arry instead of Brendan Rodgers. Thank christ we didnt, when you actually look at his managerial record, any team hes ever managed always ends up fading away, lead for a good bit then bottle it.

Sly Sports were very quick to report Arry to "leave",him been a good old mate of theirs, Arry sacked would not sit well i am sure with his son, Jamie, a current Sly Sports employee.

To be brutally honest I cant see any sane Premiership chairman who would offer Arry a job.

Given his fondness for the media, maybe he could be Dave Whelan's media representative.

Rebel_Red

Pretty much any club would give him the job in premiership!
I love LFC and would not swap BR for Harry, but in terms of playing attractive exciting football and man managment skills, i do not think there is anyone better.
And no teams he has had do not fade, but winning titles and cups is a learnt trend, and totters maybe stumble as they do not have the inner believe

gareth

He is not the full deck constantly talking to the media letting info out he should be keeping to himself last week he done a live interview with sky the day the spurs chairmans mother passed away saying he wanted a new contact and that its up to the chairman to give it to him talk about bad taste and timing he deseved the sack the way goes on about his business GOOD BOY ARRY TRRIFFICC KNOWING YA HA HA

So he talks to much....he did actually say that levy's mum had dies so it wasnt a good time to talk but when the time came that they would.
Even if he does say too much etc etc i would judge him on the teams he has produced, especially with Spurs

why all the hate im not sure
haha?

Is Gareth actually Gareth Bale? He seems to have a thing for Redknapp senior!

Jim

NO he didnt, what he actually said is, Daniel levy is going through a bad time at present, so when hes ready, well talk about my contract, Harry may not be my choice but lying about demanding the job just after Daniels mothers passing is bad taste on your part m8

14 Jun 2012 00:00:23
Eds,if the Tello rumours were true,and he was a free agent this summer,surely clubs would be going mad,chomping at the bit to sign this kid? I would have thought that because there is almost nothing to suggest his contract is up,and nobody else has really mentioned anything,that would serve as proof that his contract still has time to run. Can you see the likes of Bayern,Juventus,Ac etc ignoring the chance to sign a free Tello minus some compensation to Barca? WelshBoyDave {Ed002's Note - It was Balague that erroneously said that Tello's contract is up this year.}

Hi eds great site, there was a few rumours last week regarding nicklas bendtner as a potential liverpool target, was wondering if any of the eds had any information or at least opinion regarding this player

KjC 25 {Ed002's Note - Nothing, sorry.}

13 Jun 2012 23:29:23
I would hardly say 'he is a totally different type of player' they're not to dissimilar, just think Honda likes to sit deep more than Gerrard did at his age. Still capable of going forward and scoring the odd screamer.

Honda would be an awesome signing, big fan of his

Carb

PERFECT for the style of play, the man could find open space in a Tokyo train station. Can really run a game.

13 Jun 2012 23:25:13

13 Jun 2012 23:22:16
Whos'gutted we got Brendan in when Arry has just left Spurs??,i know i am !!

Who's gutted we have people that think like you?

Anyone who would prefer arry to BR needs there head checked. The most overrated manager in pl. I doubt there will be a single spurs season ticket holder upset about this tonight. CQ

Look at redknapps signings, terrible

=======================
No he is not sold,As I understand it he left the club, he bought out the rest of his contract making him a free agent.
So now you can start asking the Eds if Liverpool are interested in Aquilani and how much will he cost.
