In relation to Sunday's Fa Cup game against Arsenal, too many Liverpool fans however well meaning are placing too much significance in the FA cup.

The only 2 competitions that matter are the Premier League and the Champions League in any season. The FA Cup and the League Cup have no relevance anymore.

Liverpool would gain around 30 million if they qualified for next season's Champions League whereas winning the FA Cup and qualifying for the Europa League would gain them no more than 5 million pounds.

The greatest manager in the club's history Bob Paisley never won the FA Cup-not because he wasn't good enough to do it but because he saw no benefit to the club in it.

BRENDAN-YOU ARE WELL CAPABLE NOW AND IN YOUR MANY YEARS TO COME AS LIVERPOOL MANAGER BECOMING AS GREAT A LIVERPOOL MANAGER AS PAISLEY BUT TO QUOTE A LATIN WORD THAT I KNOW YOU WILL APPRECIATE-'CARPEDIUM'.

It is vital that Suarez and Sturridge are kept out of the team against Arsenal-you have no-one to replace them with if they get injured.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree with what you are saying, we need to concentrate on the premiere lesgue.

Agree0 Disagree0

"If you are first you are first. If you are second you are nothing." - Bill Shankly

Either we play to win, or we don't play at all. If we are going to throw it away to Arsenal, thus regain the initiative and confidence to win, how much more damage is that to us for our top 4 ambitions?

Any self-respecting fan will want the team to win every competition it participates in, especially LFC.

Every footballer will tell you the FA Cup is a great trophy to win, and we have a good chance as anyone else to win it, including the guaranteed place in Europe next season. Lose, and we may lose more than just the momentum that has been carrying us.

CARPEDIUM - seize the day. The gooners are still shaken by what happened last week. They are there for the taking, why not take it?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - Its actually Carpe Diem)

We won't tire our players by playing a full first team squad because we play again until next weekend.

i would rather there be youngsters like Dunn on the bench than squad players

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure I agree.

It is one thing to relegate the FA Cup if you are gunning for the title and the European Cup. As we were in Paisley's day.

Now, we have no mid-week European game to worry about. And a week to rest for the net EPL game.

This is a chance to assert ourselves psychologically over a main rival, add to our trophy cabinet, and send a message to our main rivals that we will beat you home and away if we feel like it.

If you start worrying about injuries - that's when you are likely to get them.

We need to be the club that plays without fear.

If Arsenal are "resting players" - great. I say we go for the throat.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ken,,, bang on the money mate. FA cup means nothing to Liverpool this year. Say we win it,, but finish 5th. Disaster!

Agree0 Disagree0

Load of tripe! What was Paisley doing winning three league cups then? All silverware is important and a day out at Wembley is awesome for the fans and adds to our wealth of history. We don't have Europe or the Carling Cup to play in and only a dozen or so league games left.
I'd like to see a full strength team (esp as I'm sure Arsene won't play his best 11), hopefully we can sub a few after halftime and hopefully no-one gets injured.
We could lose Sturridge or anyone to injury in any game but that's no reason to not field a strong team for the FA cup. Ten days off might even do more harm than good when you consider match fitness, winning momentum, etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rubbish!they have a full week to recover.

Agree0 Disagree0

I understand what you are saying but slightly disagree.

With Liverpool not involved in Europe, like Arsenal (not a boast, promise), I think Liverpool are good enough to concentrate on both fronts, especially with Johnson, lucas, Sakho back or coming back from injury.

Yes, of course Suarez or Sturridge could get injured, but they could get injured in a league game too and I think Sturridge would like to play in every game possible, especially with the season he is having, so he can keep impressing Roy Hodgson, although I think, to be fair, Mr Sturridge has already packed his bags for Rio.

Agree0 Disagree0

So, who is putting too much emphasis on the FA cup? Liverpool fans or Brendan?
You don't know the team yet. You don't know what Brendan's priority is. I believe if you asked him last July his answer would be the premier league. I think if you ask him now, his answer would be "the next game".
Did Paisley ever field a weakened team for an FA cup match? He won countless Milk cups, do you really think he prioritised them over the FA cup?
Why do Suarez or Sturridge need a rest?
We haven't got a midweek game for the rest of the season. Players are just as likely to get injured during training as during a game. Should we excuse Suarez and Sturridge from training?
In my opinion Suarez is champing at the bit to score a goal and if you rest him it only increases his frustration. I think Suarez has to play.
If we send in half a team and they get thumped it does 2 things. 1) massively boosts Arsenal's confidence for the run in. 2) Dents our confidence for the run in.
I would play to win "the next game". Winning is a habit and momentum counts for a lot at this stage of the season. 2000/01 season was one of the greatest in the last 20 years.
Wenger has been labelled a "specialist in failure" having finished in the top 4 but won nothing in the last 8 years.

My strategy for this FA cup match. Go for a win, but if we lose, play the significance down to the players and focus on the positives i.e. we can focus on the league matches.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have a full week to recover if we were to rest stars, it is easy to lose focus and sharpness with no competitive football, we should go in the the game focusing on the level of performance not the result, that'll take care of itself, just to keep momentum.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with HullRed. We need to keep momentum. Put out a strong side and win and keep the confidence. As I think if we put out a few fringe players and lose then confidence will drop slightly.
We need to keep the winning streak going to keep confidence high.

Agree0 Disagree0

1. Suarez hasn't scored for the last few games but his effort in creating and tracking has been second to none, his goals will come.

2. I think we all look forward to the big games, though it worries fans including myself that we will be complacent when it comes to the smaller fixtures, but 3 points are 3 points and we've got to keep going.

3. I have belief that if we focus on the top 3 rather than teams below us we can finish where we want, we have to believe and keep pushing for wins every game.

4. Defo a strong team out against the Gunners, a week break between that and our next game so go for it I say!

5. Mourinho is turning the cooker up day by day on the other 3 in the top 4. You either engage and beat him at his own game or ignore it and focus. Fergie didn't even want to go down the path of engaging him so i'm guessing it wouldn't be a wise move to do so. Let Wenger battle it out with him and we stay under the radar, we're better as underdogs!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I definitely think King Luis is trying to copy Olly Giroud lol

Agree0 Disagree0

A man, I said after the City/Chelsea defeats in December that it would be a blessing in disguise coming off the top. Much happier dodging away doing our own thing and sneaking up on the rails.

Watched a re-run of Fulham game. Two observations:
loved Suarez's first reaction to our first and second goal (as we were only level) was to get the ball out the net, move on the celebrations and go for a winner.
johnny Heitinga's reaction after Suarez's accidental clash with keeper was disgraceful. To go to the referee like he did to try and sway his decision - person of the highest order.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree with you on those points mate! Suarez is a winner and wasn't having a draw, we need players such of his belief to push us on in the last 3rd of the season.

Heitinga was pushing Henderson all over the shop when he tried to interviene on his whinging, love Hendersons spirit, Heitinga was trying to get our main man off the pitch which is an absolute joke for a chance he had every right to go for.

Non Liverpool but in the day that's in it, I was looking up some Valentine rhymes for my wife and came across these two, what strange minds people have though I did laugh

Roses are Red,
My name is Dave,
This poem sucks,

Rose are Red
Violets are blue
I have a knife

Haha the second one really made me laugh, a little out of the blue though.

Not LFC related, but what are Fulham doing? What do they expect, seriously?

Championship next year!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Strange decision they gave you a game and got a good result at utd, in fact they had a better week than us.
I thought they might be turning the corner, but that's football bizarre at times

Agree0 Disagree0

Meulensteen can't catch a break, can he? 16 days at Anzhi, 3 months at Fulham. Maybe his next one will last at least 6 months.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yet another owner with a revolving door, does my head in that he will no doubt be giving it to another manger who was sacked by someone else for more money

Listening to the kidology from Mourinho has made me watch BR a bit closer in those interviews and I have to say that he is impressing me a lot. He seems to be a very cool customer that doesn't let pressure get to him. I guess we will see in the coming weeks but so far so good. I really think he has the charisma and Teflon spirit to guide this team. From a diehard fan of 30 years its just great to be talking about the football and not all the other nonsense that has sullied our good name over the past few years! I just hope that the group from top to bottom have the same horizon and gameplan to get us back in the big time and move us up a few notches into what is a global game now. As the saying goes fix the roof whilst the sun is shining! Come on the reds

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As Charlie Brooker said of Jeremy Clarkson, responding to Mourinho is like pouring person fuel into person engine. Although Mourinho 's last rant was just childish and showed him for the crass person he is.

Jose's comments about how not playing in Europe is a privilege, are funny. First world problems on steroids, that is.

Guess people will be talking about our fixture list and his comments in the run up to our game with Chelsea. It would be nice to give his players some attention too though so maybe we can start the discussion of how we can help Chelsea players feel privileged by demolishing them so completely that they never regain their swagger and fall in to those privileged non-european spots

Hi Eds, can i/we ease have an update of our injury list please? I've heard so many different things and I think people returning soon could be huge for the rest of our season! Thanks in advance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - See earlier answers.}

14 Feb 2014 22:50:04
Just check out physioroom on the net, they have a league table of injuries for all the premier league teams, it lists the player the injury and a return date.

We (Arsenal) always win that one ;-)

Hi eds, just a few questions:

1) How likely do you think it is that Suarez will leave in the Summer even if we finish fourth?

2) Do you think we will try to sign Konoplyanka again in the Summer?

3) (off-topic) What position do you think we will finish this season?

Many thanks, YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have answered these many times - please try the search function.}

1. It will all depend on if Suarez believes we can compete, he wants to win the big trophies and has just turned 27 so understandable he wants to give himself the best chance in the near future, as much as we all want him with us till he hangs up his boots.

2. We are more than likely still interested in Kono, but we will have more competition in the summer for his signature no doubt, especially as he will have 1 year left on his contract.

3. In my opinion, we can win it but being perfectly realistic if we keep up our performances 3rd or 4th is where we shall finish (qualifying for the CL is most important), though I wouldn't turn down the title ; ).

Hi all, I was reading a few articles and ilori named was mentioned in a few as being a mistake purchase and a flop. I can't understand why people are saying this about a player who is 2/3/4 years away from really coming in to his own, I mean they say a defender doesn't even really peak til late twentys.
Maybe I am wrong, would any one or any of the Edds have an idea of how he is actually coming along?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He has moved to Grenada on loan.}

Okay, but how is he coming along? Thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea. He wanted out of Liverpool and got his wish.}

Just saying he wll be a good player in a few years because he's young means nothing, 7mil he should be on the bench now fighting to get in the team he's clearly a flop

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, did he really expect to walk straight into our starting 11, or even make the bench, bar lower club cup ties?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He would certainly expect a chance.}

Good afternoon Eds and Reds,

From what has become a very impressive for Liverpool, I am interested to know your thoughts on the questions below.

1) Which Liverpool player has impressed you the most this season?

2) Which player has surprised you the most?

3) What is your favourite result of the season so far?

4) Which opponents would you like our next big win to be against?

5) Finally, how good is it to see United in 7th? :-)

For me, Sterling has impressed me the most. He has been very impressive this season and has really stepped up his game.

Flanagan has surprised me the most. He has rescued his Liverpool career and looks very promising for the future. He has obviously been working very hard behind the scenes and has come in and been excellent.

My favourite result of the season has to be the Arsenal result (sorry Dags), that result really shown us how close we are to the top teams. However, in terms of most satisfying it has to be the Everton result.

I would love our next big win to be against Chelsea. Beating one of the "money bag" teams by a big margin would be a real statement of how good we have become and how far we could go this season.

Finally, if we can qualify for CL this season, that would be amazing, but to see United out of Europe would be the icing on the cake.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

1. Sturridge
2. Flanno
3. Smashing the bitters
4. Either of the Mancs or Chelsea
5. Fantastic

Agree0 Disagree0

1) Henderson, got a few assists and seems to be everywhere every game! Future legend?

2) I agree on Flanagan I was worried when he first came back into the team but he hasn't put a foot wrong.

3) Has to be Arsenal in the first twenty minutes I couldn't believe what I was watching.

4) Well Swansea will be my first game of the season and my brother first ever trip to Anfield so a win would be good there, but I'd love to hammer spurs to extend the gap for the top 4.

5) I only marginally prefer seeing where we are in the table as opposed to them, absolutely amazing that reality is hitting their team isn't that good!

Agree0 Disagree0

1) Sterling
2) Sturridge
3) 0-5 against Spurs
4) Chelsea
5) Delighted

Agree0 Disagree0

1. Raheem Sterling.
2. Luis Suarez.
3. 0-5 against Tottenham.
4. Whoever we are playing next.
5. Amusing.

Agree0 Disagree0

1.Sterling - he has really stepped up and will only get better
2.Suarez - a nice surprise that he is still here!
3.I really enjoyed the 3-5 Stoke win, was a mental game to watch!
4.Man United, doesn't matter what position either side is in its always good to beat them
5.Ssh, don't slag them off tell them they are doing really well and its only a matter of time before Moyes turns it round, etc, etc. We want them to keep him as long as possible!

Agree0 Disagree0

1. Hendo
2. Sterling
3. 0-5 at White Hart Lane left me in delighted shock
4) I'd take any but at Old Trafford would be brilliant
5) Undescribable

Agree0 Disagree0

1)Sterling - He has been as good if not better than Navas.
2) Suarez' attitude change
3)5-1 Norwich, that game was a treat to watch.
4) The next 12 pl games we play
5)My best mate is a UTD supporter, we often place bets on the Liverpool and UTD matches. i'm £85 up.

Agger is back now but do any of the Eds know how long before Johnson, Sakho and Enrique return?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I understand that Johnson is training now. Last week the club said Sakho was 3 to 4 weeks away but they did not say anything about Enrique.}

Cheers ed, that's good news. if johnson is back and playing well and we have dagger and flano playing left back, that's close to our strongest back four

Agree0 Disagree0

What of Lucas, ed? What was the latest info on him?

{Ed002's Note - I have not seen anything this week but last week it was two to three weeks. physioroom.com collate all of the statements from the club and actively enquire after players with the clubs rather than just read the statements - you should be able to find the latest news from them.}

I read somewhere Enrique contracted a nasty infection after his operation which he is still overcoming.

Whether true or not I couldn't tell you but could explain how Enrique was scheduled for a comeback and then nothing!

Man City have gained permission to increase their capacity to 62000.
As Arsenal were known as the Invincibles, do Man City want to be known as the invisibles?
At many of their games there are masses of empty seats. Or are they invisible fans? Maybe it, s for concerts and other events.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Feb 2014 12:59:21
Yeah but when they win the quadruple Pellengrini has promised they'll need the extra space for all the Man United fans who change colours.

YNWAdam

Agree0 Disagree0

Got it, all sorted now, I can now understand the reasons for it. They need the extra seats for all of the players that they have and the extra ones coming in over the next couple of years.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was on the official lfc site last night and reading the comments there was a lot of lfc fans kicking off demading fsg out as man city are building extra seats but we haven't started yet some of the comments on the official lfc site are a joke suprised they post them

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of the comments on the official site are purely laughable!

FSG have done well on the majority of occasions, learning along the way as has Rodgers.

Personally I have no problems with them or how the club is being run, they've been stung by hefty transfers, makes sense they would tighten the purse strings and remain adamant we wouldn't overpay again. There is a middle ground though, our valuation is not the be all and end all and we must realise that if we want to attract top level talent.

Whether its all down to the transfer committee or not I couldn't comment.

They've taken their time making sure the re-development for us is done right, we have had a lot more obstacles to overcome in regards to expanding capacity than other clubs which has been well documented, due to transport links to the stadium and the surrounding properties.

Liverpool U21's play away to Chelsea at Cobham at 7.05pm and you can watch the match live on LFC TV if you can't make it. Inglethorpe's U21s have scored an impressive 34 goals from just 11 appearances this season and in their last outing produced a superb display to beat a strong Arsenal team 4-2 away from home. Best of luck young reds.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I used to watch a lot of the younger teams playing. it was good to see how they were developing and interesting to see, in my opinion, whether they would make the massive step up. lost touch for a while now. are all of the teams playing in the same style/manner that the first team are? Way back in the day, the reserves used to play the same way as the first team so as to have continuity with players being injured etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hiya Robbie, they play exactly the same way right through the club. It's like watching the 1st team with just dif names on the jersey. I've also heard that we're looking at Jim Fraser who Brendan Rogers knows well. He's Chelsea's youth chief/academy no.2 to take over Frank McPartland's vacant role. All in all the academy is looking bright and in good hands for the future. We've got some cracking lads all the way down through the levels. There's a lot of optimism coming from the young lads if they can continue their development.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll be there - Valentines night out with my wife. We know how to have a good time down here!
Hope the rain stops. Aldershot ground is a bit of a bog.

Agree0 Disagree0

Damn just read the website. Behind closed doors at Cobham! Was looking forward to telling all the Chelsea boys they had no future with Chelsea.
Now I'll have to buy some flowers!

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers simonpw. I'll have to get myself organised and start watching the young ones again. When I watch them though I start judging them and doubting some of them. I remember watching Jon flanno and thinking that he was not going to make it. Shows what I know, although I was right about Jay Spearing amongst others. Suso was always going to make it from the first time that I watched him. Mcglouchlan was always going to be good.

Hello EDs and Reds

Hugely proud as a fan at the moment, I wernt even this excited during the 08 team as i'm only 24 I have not had the pleasure of seeing my beloved reds win the league.

Now the question is eds why the gooners are deliberately over pricing matchs consistently if anyone has seen the munich game prices of 135 pound a ticket, i'm just wondering if this is financial reconstruction because with there run in there worried about the league and top four. Or thr ozil deal was intensely more expensive than first thought.

Im just asking red men how much you individually paid for your tickets for the arsenal game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The Arsenal tickets are the most expensive regardless. They are not doing anything special at this time.}

13 Feb 2014 23:17:43
hello eds,
just wanted your thoughts on the FA cup game against Arsenal on the weekend. Do you think BR will send out the same team that played Arsenal the last weekend or make some changes to the squad? do you think he will give big importance to the cup game seeing where we are in the league at the moment? only saying this because for some reason we tend to get injuries during cup games and for the players it will be 3 games in 1 week, although if we make cl they will have to go through that next season. Also do you think we are just prone to defensive errors or is it just that kolo and skrtl just don't work together. do you think Agger will take over for kolo against arsenal?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool play a lot less games than the clubs around them. I see no reason to send out a weakened team but perhaps a couple of youngsters will gat a chance from the bench.}

14 Feb 2014 08:33:06
Is Rodgers taking a leaf out of Mourinho's book by playing an attacking trumvirate of Suarez, Coutinho & Sterling behind Sturridge, with Hendo and Gerrard pulling the strings in the centre? It's definitely paying dividends especially since we have a genuine goal-getter in Sturridge.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How is playing a flexible 4-3-3 "taking a leaf out of Mourinho's book"? He definitely is not the first to do that.

Infact, we have deployed Coutinho just ahead of Gerrard, with Henderson, so as to quickly counter. Nothing like Chelsea's way of playing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its more like Arsenal's Style tbh, They play strongest with a "Star" formation of Flamini and Arteta behind Ozil with Oxlaide and Carzorla on the wings and Giroud up front.

It works well with Arsenal's defence but i'm not so sure about us, Henderson and Gerrard are average at breaking up play and put in a good work rate but they are both quite attack orientated. Probably why we concede tons of goals yet score so many.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think rafa benitezs valencia played it years ago and he did play it last year with chelsea and with us in years gone by. systems come and go and so do players, I don't really care about fa cup tie with arsenal as we beat them in the game that mattered last week. that's not to say I wouldn't like to win it but no injuries is all I want

Dear All,

I'm a big believer in taking 1 game at a time and not looking too far ahead. However, I couldn't resist in looking at the next few premier league matches.
I think if we win out next 3 ( Swansea and Sunderland at Anfield and Southampton at St Mary's) we'll be top of the league.
How? Well Arsenal are 3 points ahead but have to go away to Stoke and their confidence is shot.
Chelsea, 4 points ahead, play Spurs and Everton at home and Fulham away ( 3 tough games)
City only play 2 games due to the League Cup final.

On top of that, all 3 play midweek matches in the champions league.
Come on you reds!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Trying my best to avoid the hype myself mate, we don't need it and neither does the players.
but not a bad run all the same lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Swansea are now revitalized and are unbeaten in 2 while Sunderland will be tricky.

The game away to Southampton will be very difficult and is one which we lost 3-1 last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would fancy Arsenal to get a result from their away match at Stoke, rather than us getting a result in our away match at Southampton. They seem to have the beating of us recently and its a tough place to go.
The home games should be bankers though if we have any intention of finishing top 4 or higher.
I would accept 7 points from those 3 games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Every single game is hard we got a last min peno to beat bottom of the league Fulham its anyones call

Agree0 Disagree0

Southampton will be a real tough game. They press really aggressively and we suck at dealing with that.

A few questions?
1) at what stage do we call suarezs run a 'drought' ;)
2) anyone else get more nervous going into games like Fulham, than arsenal?
3) I can't see us coming 4th, it's either top 2/3 or 5/6th for me, god I hope its higher, but you never know, any thoughts as I liek to here other fans perspective!
4) I think we should put out a strong team vs arsenal, one loss will affect confidence, that we've just built up, I know its only February but we are unbeaten in 2014, and that plays on oppositions mind as well as encouraging our own players, can't lose momentum!
5) finally, mourinho at it again with his mind games, saying we are his favourites as we don't have Europe, hope he doesn't mess things up like usual!
Come on you reds, would appreciate any replies :)

1) After the World Cup
2) if I have my lucky pants on, I can't afford to get nervous
3) 4th
4) Winning is a habit, go for a win against Arsenal but take the positives if we get knocked out.
5) Jose needs to realise, football is moving on from Fergie-style mind games. It's all about the Mourinho show with him, that's why the press love him. He's a bit of a caricature.

I reckon it is going to go down to the spurs game unless they start struggling with the europa league starting back whip they hopefully will then and only then will I start dreaming I miss the champions league and it's a must because the europa league is a big distraction and shouldn't really be played on a hursday

Check out spurs 3 game before us man they'll drop points before that don't worry

I know this all happened years ago but I've only read about this today, Tommy Smith stated in his autobiography that Hughes spole about arsenal players willing to take a bribe to throw a game and they never spoke again, now I know they hated 1 another but has Ian Callaghan ever confirmed this story or is it just Smith's say so and as Hughes is dead can't defend himself thanks Ian

The win against Fulham was a great result and a lot of credit must go to Brendan for getting such a gutsy performance from the players.

I know Brendan would like to win the FA Cup but finishing in the top four in the league is crucial. Just as Dalglish got the bullet when he won the League Cup but finished outside the top four, FSG will not be satisfied with an FA Cup win instead of a top four finish and they will look to change the manager in the summer if this failure occurs.

It is imperative that Suarez and Sturridge are rested on Sunday against Arsenal because there is every likelihood that they would get injured. They must be played solely in the remaining 12 Premier League games. Without one or both of them in the remaining 12 League games Liverpool will fail to make a top four finish and that is definite.

It would be best for Liverpool that Arsenal win on Sunday as it would force Arsenal into more distractions from their Premier League games and make their players more fatigued.

Rafa Benitez made this mistake in 2008 when he played Torres in a meaningless FA Cup game against Reading at Anfield. Liverpool lost the game that night and Torres got injured and missed crucial games in the league and this was the season Liverpool finished 2nd on 86 points behind United.

Arsene Wenger is talking about resting 6 players for Sunday. He clearly wants Arsenal to get knocked out because he wants Liverpool's quest for top four to be distracted by the FA Cup.

PLEASE REMEMBER BRENDAN FSG WANT CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFICATION ASSURED THIS MAY-THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE FA CUP.

Brendan, you need to target higher than fourth place as Tottenham are coming fast and if Man United somehow won the Champions League fourth place in the Premier League would lose out on the Champions League qualification.

Brendan, you are doing a brilliant job, you are very close to the Promised Land of the Champions League-please realize that the FA Cup is a distraction for the club that is not financially beneficial. The financial benefits for the club from Champions League qualification both in terms of attracting more marquee players this summer like Suarez, Sturridge and Gerrard and in substantially increased commercial revenue far outweigh any financial gain that would be accrued from winning the FA Cup and in this new world of Financial Fair Play this must be the clear aim of the club ie Champions League qualification this May.

One word Ken, ''Xanax''!

Feeling quite disappointed I took the time to read that.

Two words Ken, 'small ambitions'. Your attitude would suit Everton well but while there is a chance of silverware we should be going for it. Put our strongest 11 out every game, try our utmost best and then see how we are come May.

For a summary just read what is written in caps.

Agree0 Disagree0

Clearly FSG and Brendan have set out a long term plan, BR has said recently we are 1 year ahead of schedule if we make this years champions league (which fills me with confidence that suarez has probs agreed to stay on atleast another year) I'd take silverware and a decent shot at champs league rather than a reserve team getting dumped out the final, and not making it. I think our squad depth is fine to cope with the FA cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

The difference with Dalglish's time in charge and BR's at the moment is, yes Kenny won the league cup and got to the FA cup final.
HOWEVER, we were nowhere near the top 4 by January, never mind the end of the season.

Thats why Kenny was sacked.

If we win the FA cup this season but finish 5th and are only a few points off top 4, or god forbid finish top 4 but the mancs win the Champions League, BR will not be sacked.
We are showing improvement which is all the owners wanted at this stage, and as long as we are in the mix with a few games to go they will be happy.

Brendon needs to play a strong team on Sunday as we then have a week until we play Swansea at home, plenty of recovery time and no travel.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can still see his point though, no injuries is all I want as well . fa cup is not our goal this year as we have a shot at the big one although I admit its a long shot

Agree0 Disagree0

"FSG will not be satisfied with an FA Cup win instead of a top four finish and they will look to change the manager in the summer if this failure occurs."

Really? They will dump possibly the brightest young manager in the game? The one who has engineered the dismantling of several very good EPL teams? With teenagers and free transfers like Toure taking the field?

And pray tell, who will be available to replace him? Laudrup? Steve Clarke? Martin Jol? Moyes?
