all this bla bla nonsense talk about carrol he was awesome for newcastle repeat awesome he single handely riped us apart i will never forget that game i was on honeymoon that nite needless to say we didnt speak that much for the rest of that night he needs to be given time he might need a season to find his feet here patience is the key and im not patient but im tryn any1 doughting carrol watch him on you tube

Lol YouTube, try watching an actual match

Give the lad a break you tube or no you tube he was awesome for newcastle or will you be in denial about that as well original poster

I think its his mental attitude which needs sorting maybe he will come good in the end but he will never be a prolific scorer.
JJ blackpool

Lmao at doughting. Yeah I agree we all should get behind him. Let Kenny sort it out. I'm here to support the team.

Thanks, KickingBro

Watching him play for Newcastle and then watching him play for liverpool i have to question the lads desire don't get me wrong i think he wants to do well but if it was me in his position i would want to do much better for my boyhood club and put 200 percent in every second i was out there which i probably would not if i was playing for Newcastle

Where were you and A Carroll on honeymoon?

Who reckons that the site is worth reading as much because of Ed002's sarcastic replies?
Be honest, the big 20 stone hairy trucker boy is only saying what we're all think.....

Wow she's lost a bit a weight recently then

BBW, hirsute with an HGV - now that's a fetish!

I heard a rumour John Henry cloned redturks credit card.
First Redturk knew about it was when RBS rang him saying £35m had been charged to it.
FACT!!!

20 million bargain! But we should av a link with Lille we should get Hazard for suarez ynwa76

Suarez is showing real loyalty to this club, so lets return the favour and please don't talk about swapping him- plus he is one of the best forwards in the PL, if not the best.
If Luis ever leaves, it will not be at the end of a January window with no warning, like nando. He'll do it with dignity and class- but lets show him some loyalty, eh?

To be honest he did everything put get on his hands and knees to leave ajax witch he said he loved more than anything

I think that the OP, in his mangled English, MAY have been referring to Hazard as a partner for Suarez, as opposed to a swap.

what about KEVIN STROOTMAN just watched him on utube if no one has seen him play check him out i could b wrong but it looks like hes from the same mould as robin van persie.

...because he looks like RVP?

Not jus that bt his playing ability.

14 Dec 2011 21:41:36

bumba,
i agree that erikson is shear class and would love too see him here..... we can only dream iam afraid though mate! i posted earlier tha our realistic targets would be more like matt jarvis and pilkington from norwich. can anybody see that happening?

"ian rush and robbie fowler left and came back". Yes,but when they left they still showed and treated this club with the utmost respect. They didnt leave to go play for a "bigger club" now did they? I worshipped ft09 as a redman,but the way he left was nothing short of disgraceful. I personally am loving the fact that he's failed so miserably with that plastic blue russian team and wouldnt want him back for 20p because he's finished anyway. The grass isnt always greener...
Capetownred

Fowler was sold!
the jazz

Fowler and Rush didn't want to go. Owen and Torres did. That is the difference. RED LENIN

Red Len I agree with you mate 100%. Maybe, just maybe Torres can redeem himself by coming back, and banging in the goals...Unlike that cretin Owen, given the choice of signing for LFC or Newcastle, he went for the money to NUFC. Rafa was willing to forgive him for his shenanigans pre- season before he went to Real, and resign him. The real slap in the face was when he went to the Mancs. Then saying blah di blah what a great club it is etc!

TORRES WILL NOT BE COMING BACK.
Now can we get on with talking about something sensible. 24 hours of this doo doo is driving me round the bend. Goodness knows how the Eds put up with it.

Hi ed, how long does the hearing go on for and when will we know the results?

Thanks, KickingBro {Ed002's Note - It is scheduled for two days. There will be some sort of statement after that. Perhaps Friday.}

14 Dec 2011 20:59:12
lets face it Torres returning would be a backward step for everyone..the guy has lost his sharpness and pace the prem league has took its toll he would be better of moving abroad which am sure will happen sooner reather than later.

The sad thing is why oh why did we not get sturridge in the torres deal at that time am sure it could have been 38m plus DS. No we had to go and blow 3/4 of the fee on a panto horse!

Strange we then had another opp when 'fin head' was sold ..no we took the money when we have been crying out for a further goal scorer.

Lets be honest kenny in his efforts to buy british has overpaid and the quality has not bee there..honestly how much would we get for carroll, downing and henderson if they were sold in Jan and who would want them!

We have been guilty of paying 5m 0r 6m for mediocre players in the past but this year we have gone out and spent treble plus and the quality is it truely any better

Another instant success fan.. KK is building a team to compete for seasons to come, not just to get us through each season then break the bank the every summer to compete again... The British buys are gettin better every time they play, I still think we need a pacey right winger with the steel to take on defenders and an out n out striker. So far the boys have done good, start thinking before you post or support someon who makes you happy!

Myk

These so-called mediocre players have run rings round almost every team they've played this season, even if they haven't scored as often as we might have wanted. give them time.

Sturridge was never offered to us
NZL_Red

Spot on mate we look strong this season we will get there

14 Dec 2011 20:46:57
Forget Torres, Villa, Cavani, Lucas,Ramirez, the one player I believe we need and should defiantly go for in January is

ERIKSEN of Ajax he is world class...

Excellent skillful an eye for the killer pass, spend 30illion now and double your money in 2 seasons. One of the best attacking midfielders in the world...

Bumba sqwat...

I know theres no chance but id rather break the bank for lucas.

Forgot to mention he's the closest thing I've seen to Stevie.G

Bumba sqwat...

Eriksen?the closets fing to stevie g u out ur mind hes a skillfull lil sod but he couldnt carry the weight of a whole team on his back like stevie did for so many years stevie was a one off!

I don't think Eriksen is nearly aggressive enough to be likened to Gerrard. Every time I see him play he pulls the strings for Ajax, but he always looks for a pass before a shot. He reminds me a lot of Fabregas actually.

Eriksen would be a fantastic signing for any club. It is hard for me to see him moving to either Madrid or Barcelona because the two clubs have elite playmakers in Fabregas (after Xavi is finished) and Ozil. However, any club would be willing to make room for that kind of talent.

I have a feeling he will end up at Arsenal if he moves soon, but if we make Champs league at the expense of Arsenal then I think there is a chance he could move to Liverpool.

I do feel like our style of play would suit him, but he will only move to a club that is playing at the top level - we're so close to being there, and I'm actually very surprised at how quickly KD has turned everything around. Considering how depleted the club was when KD got here, he has really brought the spirit back. I feel like we're still a few players short of being the world-class side we were, but we're so far away from where we were when Hodgson took over.

Thanks!

CSeiling

Erikson turned down man city in august and has already said hed prefer a move too spain. we have no chance....but a nice dream!
harry h

Erikson is nothing like Gerrard, I'm not saying hes not good but quite different players.

If he was available and willing id hope k.k went all out to get him. he does remind me a tiny bit of gerrard but more suarez with his sharp turns and invention on the ball.
NZL_red

14 Dec 2011 20:35:52
take it your another carroll hater ltp red?
harry h

No i am not a hater of carroll, i just think he lacks effort and commitment. Also feel he is not suited to the liverpool style of play. When he plays its almost a hit and hope game rather than a passing game.

ltp the red

14 Dec 2011 20:18:24
Who would you like to see upfront with suarez and bellamy fellow reds, however keep the ideas fairly possible. i.e. not dalglish, fowler, rush players who are possible.

i would like to see us push for the likes of hoilett, sinclair, fletcher i think the following would give there everything and wear a red shirt with pride.

also the likes of lucas ocampos, eriksen. these two players we should break the bank for, the quality amongst them is sensational.

i hope torres doesnt join man-utd, i was just browsing through the site and seen allot of the scum are mentioning the possibility

ps ed002 are you infact a chelsea fan ?

LTP the red

The main problem I can see with hoilett
is that if part of the h ever comes off the
back of his shirt, the h would look rather like a t instead. I think we'd be taking a big risk there.

Andy Carroll.

How about this for a plan:
we buy back Torres for 20 mil.
Kenny gets him back firing in goals again
then we sell him again in the summer for another 50 mil
(maybe even back to Chelsea)

Genious

Or we just offer 25m for David Villa?

How about we forget both

Villa is 31... No sell on value to be paying out 25m.. Cant see FSG paying out for him.
ItsNotRocketScience

Good plan! Let us buy Guediola to partner King Kenny and Rafa Benitez so all the fans are happy too!

Thanks, KickingBro

Or we get frank rijkaard the man actually responsible for the current barca set-up

Villa has actually only just turned 30 about two weeks ago

14 Dec 2011 20:03:51
this link good enough? Torres available for 20million

{Ed002's Note - Why don't you read the posts from today.}

14 Dec 2011 20:01:45
I no more than the rest of the LFC fans were devestated when Torres decided to leave for chelsea, but if he was back in Jan and gave to the club the form and goals he did in his first year with us plus Gerrard returning there be no doubt we'ld get CL spot easy, and if it did happen, which i doubt it will, Torres back that is, how many would forget the manner in which he left?
TIA70

I don't want he back, neither should any other Liverpool supporter but, if he ws to be signed (he won't) i'd support him 100% because he would play for the team i love.

KT!

I think the only reason people want torres back is because of his replacement andy carroll, simply a waste of money not his fault but that was a bad move and now we are desperate for a fast pacy skillfull 20-30 goal a season striker, not a lanky,clumsy, poor technique, poor control, no pace, beam pole.RedTurk

Redturk could turn any post into a Carrol bashing session.

Good news LFC have finalised plans for a 100,000k seater stadium. And good news free season tickets for all, to celebrate the signing of Messi.

Reply. Well that shows Carrol is not of Liverpool quality, and was a waste of money, doom some more doom doom doom. Redturk.

All the best.

KNEE JERK

KNEE JERK is back, how are you mate? you cant get me out of your mind. Dont understand a word you posted but keep it up, who said we need to sign messi? just not andy carroll for £35million would of been good.RedTurk

Red I only speak the truth Turk,you are indeed a tool of the highest order. Fair enough you don't like Carroll. But to start calling him personal name's like the little mouthy bitch that you are says it all you need to know about you and your instant gratification character. Sit on your typing hand for 5,should go numb then Bob's your uncle. Then when your done go and join City's fan club. Disgraceful.
Jonson.

KNEE JERK
It wouldn't suprise me if Carroll got a hatrick and Redturk still moaned about his performane.

KT!

Johnson, Turk has not got the patience to sit on his hand for 5 minutes. He will be calling it allsorts after 30 seconds.

MIKEY

But it would explain his sticky keys.
The keys C A R O and L always seem to be stuck down on his keyboard.

MIKEY

Im sick of you sitting on the fence redturk.. Just say what's on you mind will you..!

Myk

Jonson, you give gr8 advice, you should practice what you preach, name calling that is, and stop stalking RedTurk, pevert.. he dosent like AC, get over it FFSake!
thejazz

Red Turk, can't you see that if Carroll really is bad player because of his current performances, then you behaving the way you do makes you into a bad supporter?
In fact, since you never have anything positive to say (whereas at least Andy has go), you are an absolutely rubbish supporter.
TC

Get over what Jazz, me commenting on a supposed Liverpool fan not only constantly ripping a player. Fair enough,but for him to get personal about our number 9 is bang out of order. Shame you've made that up about getting on his case over Carroll. I,along with quite a few fan's have replied to his negative s**te which has gone too for too long.
Jonson.

Hes entitled to an opinion good or bad, jus like the ones you post, get over the fact he dosent like AC style of football , that dosent mean hes not a fan..im not to happy wit some of the players effort so far this season but i've witnessd Dalglish as a player and a manager and i have confidence his judgements will prevail, and results will get alot better!
thejazz

Thejazz
It's not just the constant critisizing of Carroll, it's the whole team and staff.

He only recently stopped moaning about Hendo now that he's showing us what he can do.

As you say he is entitled to his own opinion but he must be depressed 24/7 with the constant drivel that he produces.

KT!

Well KT, how are ya!
Stop looking and reading Redturks post, your obiviously a doctor of some kind if you can diagnose his problem.write urself a priscription, take a relaxer and unwind!

hi guys, been reading your posts for days now and trust me, forget about these silly torres stories! hes heading back too spain, probably athletico. now as for the jan players coming in, i cant realy see alot of action too be honest, i would personally like too see matt jarvis or maybe that pilkington lad from norwich. both whats needed at the mo for us with width and very realistic targets.

harry h

Doubt he would go to Atletico, they seemed pretty happy to offload him for similar reasons we have heard about his attitude at LFC. He is a sulk and they are better without him in my view. Having said that who else in Spain would have him. He was not a Spain regular until he came to us....Villa was always ahead of him. Doubt he will go to Spain myself but maybe Russia or China for the money?

Whats going on with the stadium situation and

Hi eds how long as suarez case with the alleged gesture been put off for? Till after the alleged racism case?

I would i be right in saying that the jan transfer window is not very clear at the moment. As you cant confirm targets?

Cheers
Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - The case has not been put off just that the player and club have been allowed further time to respond to the charges. No, January is not clear yet.}

14 Dec 2011 19:31:47
Are liverpool going to be big spenders in Jan? {Ed002's Note - "Big" is very subjective.}

14 Dec 2011 19:03:03
alreet how many players do u fink kenny needs to add to his current team to make them a dominant force once again? And who would they be?

Personally I think 2. A left wing and right wing would be good additions as I'm unconvinced by Downing yet. As to who?

hmmm there's not many available to be honest. We were linked with Griezemann (spelling?) a while back maybe him.

Rewflo {Ed002's Note - I really don't know of any serious interest from Liverpool. Players are watched all of time by scouts representing the likes of Liverpool and more often than not rumours begin when a scout has attended a game and is doing no more than taking a look at one or two players. Valencia, Marseille and Lyon have shown some confirmed interest in the past and repordedly Barcelona tool a look at one time. The only club that made serious enquiries in the summer were Athletico Madrid and we are aware that such a move would have been acceptable to the player. Chances of a January move anywhere are very slim.}

3. Right Wing, Attacking Centre, Striker

RW- Dries Mertens Stands out for me, he's in top form and would cost around-15-18m

CM-Gaston Ramirez, Hes been called the 'Next Kaka' in Italy, and he will know Suarez and Coates well already to help settle him in

ST-Roberto Soldado, What were screaming out for a FINISHER, the chances we are making he will score 25 goals a seasonouTou guys may think other people to fill those postion but we deffiently need these postions fillled for top 4!

Dano

Not many. 1 or 2. I'd buy Shane Long to come off of the bench to score. As long as he isn't too much then I think we should go for it.

I'd also buy a centre forward who is strong, quite fast and can score some goals. Someone like him at Borussia - Lewandowski. He has skill, is tall, stong, a last-man attacker, can score and has a good head. As long as he isn't too much then again, I'd say go for it.

I'd also buy a winger because we have a few old wingers - bellamy,maxi,kuyt etc. If we can get a pacey winger who can run onto Charlie's passes then we have a good squad in my opinion.

Thanks, KickingBro

I'd have to go with Gaston Ramirez and Soldado, two top quality players and I think they'd actually join us if given the chance.

Just want to thank all the LFC fans who left messages of support for darren Fletcher yesterday. Wasn't expecting to see all that! Cheers.

G.A.G.U.S
ps - This doesn't mean I like you ;-)

I agree , its great to see. get well soon Darren.

14 Dec 2011 18:58:01
I would be very surprised if we didn't bring in a striker in January. So who would everyone want?
Please don't say Torres.
My dream choice is higuain but my realistic choice is de Jong.

Thanks

MIKEY

Me* blows dust off Adidas copa mundial* i dream of rolling back the years.....This is my come and get me plee to Kenny. Forget the signing on fee, forget the huge wages, image rights. Infact i will pay the club..... God what i would give just to smash a volley in back of the net, in the Kop end on a european night, i would die happy man.Sorry i digress.

Dream RVP

Realistic Bent
All the best.

KNEE JERK

Higuain has no interest in LFC. Personally I think we need a poacher, I dont see De Joong as a poacher.

I'd like maybe Podolski

Rewflo

Eduardo Vargas. I haven't seen much of Luuk de Jong. When I did, he didn't look great to me. May be, he wasn't having a best day.

I'd gag to see Villa in a red shirt and i reckon he'll be immense for us.

The Crow.

How about that lad munain? (spelling)
Not seen much of him only really know his reputation. Podolski woul be a great signing. As would Darren bent, you know what your getting with him.

Thanks

MIKEY

Podolski good shout. All the best.

KNEE JERK

Is Podolski a poacher? I wouldn't see him as one. More of a winger from what I've seen. Anyway, I'd still have him.

Dream: Mario Gomez
Realistic: Lewandowski

Thanks, KickingBro

Bent or Soldado

14 Dec 2011 18:49:32
Someone said to me they wouldn't have Alonso Mascherano or Torres back. Have to agree there. They all left. End of. Weve got lads who want to play now.

Spriggo

I wouldn't either. Alonso has been replaced with Adam now. Mascherano was a tit and Torres can't buy a goal these days.

MIKEY

Alonso was a bit more complicated than the others- Rafa was openly trying to sell him a few months before he left, so maybe he just wanted to be at a club where he was wanted by the manager?

14 Dec 2011 18:48:52
Hi Eds.Is there any news on our stadium situation because I think its about time our owners made a decision. Thanks and keep up the good work.J.B from Malta {Ed002's Note - Nothing just yet but I am sure there will be some news pretty soon - if only a further delay.}

I'd put money on the plans being scrapped for the foreseeable future due to the financial crisis.

14 Dec 2011 18:45:26
With the Torres rumour going around it could be like rush when he left for Turin and then came back to liverpool {Ed002's Note - Or not.}

Or it could be more like when owen was at newcastle and never came back

Or like Dalglish,
who left as manager
and also came back again
(thankfuk)

14 Dec 2011 18:08:37
Hi Ed's just two quick questions:

1. Are we likely to hear a verdict about the stadium by the end of 2011?

2. If Suarez does get this 6 game ban in January, would you say it is most likely we will sign another striker or stick with what we have got?

Cheers,

LG. {Ed002's Note - (1) I am surprised there has been no statement made yet, even if it is just putting off the decision. I would still think a statement is due. (2) I know nothing of a six game ban and am not going to answer such questions. Sorry.}

No problem, cheers anyway. I had just heard that if found guilty, the minimum ban for racism is 6 games. Anyway I hope he does not even get found guilty.

LG. {Ed002's Note - We should wait.}

If he does get a lengthy ban and i hope not,would this ban cover europe,the reason i ask is if it dosnt count in europe,we could loan him to a top club and loan their one of, strikers, {Ed002's Note - If he did get banned then it would be ratified to cover Europe. When this first came out the fans were screaming that if found guilty they did not want him at the club. I really think you should just wait to see what happens.}

14 Dec 2011 18:07:36
Eds, do u think liverpool wil bring in a striker in jan, and which one is more likely {Ed002's Note - Possibly but who we don't know.}

14 Dec 2011 18:01:10
Does anyone know if there's any interest from Liverpool in Adrian from Atletico? He looks brilliant!

14 Dec 2011 17:53:59
ED002 - as a Chelsea fan and an informed one at that what do you think about Torres - do you think he should stay at Chelsea or do you think he will leave - have you heard anything further from your sources that we havent read today in the paper?

YNWA jns {Ed002's Note - I thought I may have touched on the subject previously, but perhaps not. There is no "for sale" sign, but if he is not performing well and cannot get in to the team and if he wants to move on something may be facilitated at some point. Certainly there is no £20M figure or anything like that. With Anelka effectively already gone and Drogba and Kalou away in January/February it seems unlikely that he will move even if another striker comes in. Chelsea are looking actively at new strikers at the moment but it is entirely unrelated to any situation that there may or may not be with Torres.}

Apologies if ive made you repeat yourself. Thanks for the update.

YNWA jns {Ed002's Note - You need to take the time to read the other posts. The only reason I have not just deleted the duplicates today is because I am in a good mood after making my quota for blocking Liverpool posters from the web site.}

14 Dec 2011 17:52:09
I have had a read though the posts but can't see anything through the smog that is Torres rumours and if I'm honest got bored of looking at posts from people wanting to see judas back in red! I'm more concerned with our current in form striker; Suarez! Can anyone speculate on what the worst case scenario is if he is found guilty and how long the ban might be because I'm guessing it won't be a 2 matcher!

Thanks in advance!

Danski {Ed002's Note - I think it makes sense to wait and perhaps the acceptance of the ignorance defence, an apology, everyone shaking hands and a promise not to do it again.}

Sepp is that you?

rewflo

14 Dec 2011 17:27:06
Hi Ed sorry to bother you with this question but With suarez having his F.A case being dealt what is he actually being charged with as no evidence was found about him calling evra anything i have tried the search but had no luck

Many thanks

MJ {Ed002's Note - I don't wish to labour this but Suarez has been charged by the FA with referring to Evra's ''ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race'' as a means of abuse. I am not so sure why you are so confident at the lack of evidence as I don't think the charge is being denied per se. I suspect that the denial will be that he deliberately "racially" or otherwise abused the player - but not that he did not say any particular words. We think the defence will claim that Suarez was not aware that there was such sensitivity over the use of specific words in Europe when it is culturally acceptable in Uruguay and other parts of the world to use such terms (the ignorance defence). There will probably be a statement about the matter on Friday - until then perhaps speculation will need to surfice.}

14 Dec 2011 17:25:42
i know that you repeatedly have said that torres would not return but then all of a sudden ed002 said that torres might return was that meant as a joke or is it a possibility (sorry if it sounded as if im having a go at the eds im not) {Ed002's Note - Perhaps we have gotten pissed with the same question being asked all day by folks who are too lazy or not bright enough to even take a glance through the other posts.}

14 Dec 2011 17:13:59
Right first thing first!! This is gonna sound stupid but i was right about suarez when i dreamt about him coming to lfc. I was wrong about him scoring his first go against the mancs on his debut but thats cos he come on against stoke and scored on his debut. Eds at the time of this said suarez would not be joining but he did. Anyways had another dream and yes i know torres. Well he joined us on loan in jan with a possible view to buy but unlikely. Its up to u lot but i didnt bet with suarez dream i had but wished i did. So gonna have a punt with torres joining on loan.

Gezza1982

I dreamt we sold kuyt and bought Hazard but im not getting my hopes up on that dream

That is just about the most reliable source on this site, excluding Macca and the Eds of course..

Reliable Twitter source says that LFC have been contacted by CFC with regards to Torres return for around 20mil {Ed002's Note - You're kidding. There is a reliable Twitter source?}

I bet you'll be glad to get home and strip off Edd02, as your knickers have been in a right twist today. Your not alone. Had a terrible day in work myself. Could n't wait to get home, take my pants off and kick sh!t out of them.

Taffytel {Ed002's Note - I rather thought I had been OK today - read the riot act to some Manchester United supports, banned some Liverpool fans to cheer myself up, a few humorous bits. A pretty good day.}

Evening EDS, There's talk of chelsea selling torres for £20mil do you think the liverpool board would want to re-sign him EDS. LFCMARK. {Ed002's Note - The official statement on the matter reads as follo

eds who do you honestly think liverpool could get in january. {Ed002's Note - It is not a question we can answer and speculation leads to problems.}

14 Dec 2011 17:06:16
Ed, Any truth that Suarez's hearing over the Evra incident began in secrecy today? I've just read it on another websites forum, but not sure how trustworthy the source is.

Digger {Ed002's Note - It is scheduled for today and tomorrow. It is like all FAA hearings behind closed doors - I don't think secrecy is anything to do with it.}

BBC website are reporting it started and result Friday

14 Dec 2011 16:52:01
Eds,why is the f.a's case against suarez being conducted under so much so much secrecy ? {Ed002's Note - I am not sure that it is "secret", just behind closed doors. It was scheduled for two days beginning today. I don't know when the clubs were informed of this but I suspect before the weekend. I was aware on Monday that the confusion over the delay was resolved and it had been scheduled for today and tomorrow, but all of these matters are addressed in private - if you were thinking it would be on the BBC like Prime Minister's Question Time then you will be disappointed.}

Liverpool 'V' Chelsea for out-of-favour Barcelona striker David Villa in January if the reds do go for him i hope they don't pay more the 20 mill

Villa is 30, he'll be thinking more about his pension now rather than football. Too much money, too high wages and too old.

Tes he is, he was seen at Lime street singing you'll never walk alone.
He was also wearing his Liverpool kit and football boots shouting "please Kenny, please take me back", while holding a bottle of Frost Jacks.

Hope that helps.

14 Dec 2011 15:42:25
a while since i posted but i just have a couple of points
firstly
well done to all the red fans who have shown compassion for Fletcher by posting sentiments on Uniteds page - this shows we are human despite the hatred of a club we can still show empathy for a player who gives 100% even if he is not the most gifted of players and thhat he lso plays for them.
second point
on the Torres return!
i read an article once about him from some journo who had looked at his carrer in depth, when at A.Madrid he was not a great goal scorer but statistically average at best, he then came to us and was terrific for a couple of years and then went back into mediocricy.
the journo went on to say that the Torres we had for the first 2 years was actually unbelievable and not the real Torres, the average Torres of later times at anfield and now chelski is the true level of the player.
now i am not the most intelligent man but what the journo said rings true to me we saw the peak of FT and now he is no more than average and will not return to those dizzy hieghts he once achieved.

that being said i would not want him to return but would rather invest in the future and not return to the past

bigg2966

Load of crap. He was decent at Madrid, a 1 in 3 striker. He came to us and we played to his strengths and took away the burden of being captain and he flurished. His current form is down to injurys, his legs seem to be gone, his speed was one of the reasons he was so deadly, his confidence has also taken a knock because he can't seem to be able to adjust his game to cope.
It's beyond me why anybody would have him back now.

MIKEY

So a 1 in 3 is a great goal scorer i personally rate a 1in2 or less as a great goal scorer.
i agree his confidence is low and possibly he is being mismanaged at chelsea but all i did was paraphrase a journalist who had done his homework on Torres.i agree with the journo that 1 in 3 is only average for example in a 38 game season that is 12 to 13 league goals, not great for a centre forward also that is an average how many times did he score more than 1 in a game? take his ratio from games in which he scored against games played and its more like 1 in 4+ again not great stats, however he increased that ratio when playing at anfield and we had the best from him - as the journo said - will he ever get that back i dont know,would i risk 20million that he will - NO

so less of the "crap" and read what it says first and not what you think i said

bigg2966

I was referring to the journalist you mentioned talking crap, not yourself mate.

Hi Ed's, Do you know what ............. {Ed002's Note - Sorry, but try National Enquirer or Hello for gossip. We are not going down that road.}

Your not doing gossip! great so everything on this site is true? its gossip that has made this site so great maybe you should try giving some respect to fans! your getting boring and im guessing many agree but wont say incase they get banned,but if thats the case why are we given mouths and braines if we cant use them! rant over! {Ed002's Note - You are a cretin. You have no idea what that post was about and if you truly believe it should be a free for all perhaps I should share a couple of post from yesterday with you that I think pretty much every single Liverpool supporter would be sickened by. QUOTE "would love to see torres in the red again in my opinion the best striker ive ever seen play for liverpool"

Oh dear. Obviously someone born in the 21st century then, along with all the other posters who would like Torres back.

Nevermind experience comes with age and with age comes wisdom. Unfortunately, and you were unfortunate, you never had the opportunity to see Hunt, Tosh, Keegan, Dalglish, Rush, Beardsley, Johnson (David), Fowler? All better than Torres by a Country mile. I never managed to see the great Roger Hunt, but took the time to watch any available clips of him. It didn't take long to see he was something special.

Torres sold his soul. He'll need to live with it and i'm sure he is living with it. The young babies on here need to realise things change, this player isn't worthy of joining this club and looking back isn't the best way of going forward. He was an early peaker and just like Owen, is living off his reputation from those early years. Owen has made a career out of 3 great years.

He wasn't here long enough in any event to be made worthy of being mentioned with the class listed above. I, for one, have him labelled as a two season wonder which is just one season up on the likes of Tevez and Adebayor. They all belong in the same bag of sh*ep

Hardly legend material.

Bob the Red

I agree Bob,

Torres is talented but for me the most naturally gifted striker evefr to play for liverpool is Fowler. Could score any type of goal at all. I was lucky enough to have a chat with him once and he is a top guy and liverpool through and through. I bet he cries red.

Rewflo

Oh dear...

I've met Sir Roger Hunt at Anfield, where he's still to be seen doing the rounds now and then. He's a true gentleman, and is admired and respected by all there, over 40 years after he left. My dad went to his testimonial match.
The people you mentioned Bob would never have dreamed of disrespecting their managers at the time, as Torres did with Kenny.
Even Kevin Keegan, whose departure caused much hurt, was straight forward in his intentions with the club. He's my favourite player still.
Torres would have joined that company but chose not to.
I am in Kenny's corner.
The Real KB

Fowler left and came back again,
So did Rush.

Just to say, I like Torres for what he has done for us. he was great during his tim here. If he comes back I'd be happy, but just for the fact it doesn't seem likely. and I'm not disappointed with that even. He has written his story, here. Hope, we'd be back on scoring ways, soon. YNWA

He scored some of the best goals ever witnessed at Anfield. Watch his 81 goals on the tube... he was absolutley world class. Emphasis on the word WAS.

Fowler was forced out by Houllier, and at the time Rush seemed to be the olive branch between us and Juventus in the aftermath of Heysel, Torres wanted out, let him rot i say, but if he does come back i for one will give him 100% support, but i doubt he does!

Just heard a rumour from a friend who works at the Liverpool 1 store that someone has just come in wearing a balaklava and ordered Home, Away and 3rd strip with Torres 99 on the back. The security got a little nervous and asked the gentleman to remove his mask, When asked the guy ran off not very quickly (although he looked like he used to have some pace). The security guards caught up with the unmasked the gentleman and low and behold guess who it was ............. thats right Shaun Dundee.

This is a 100% true, Ask my mate.

Its true, I was the security guard but I didnt have to run too fast though

Tel 1949

Is this the same Sean Dundee whose "quicker than Michael Owen" if so you the security guard are very quick

Yeh I am fast, and if I wasn't eating a pork pie at the time too, I would have been even quicker

Tel 1949

Its true, due to the release clause that sent him to Stuttgart one of his legs was removed in the deal thus leaving him a full 7.23% slower than he was. With such fine margins in the Bunderslige he found himself busking outside the World Buffet at Liverpool one, Using only an old shin pad wrapped in sausage skin to play a tune too. Desperate times call for desperate measures and left him searching for some extra cash that's the reason he went for 2 9's on the top instead of one, He knows that through January the price of number 9's goes through the roof.

Fernando Torres has been in bad form for a lot longer than 12 months - more like 2 and a half years. He was brilliant in the 1st season with us, and just as good in the 2nd season (when he wasn't injured). Ever since then he has been a shadow of his former self.

Frankly, a player of any caliber should not be 'recovering from injury' / 'burnt out after some internationals' / 'lacking confidence' for well over 2 seasons. 2 months, sure, but not 2 seasons!

I can't believe the number of people salivating over the possibility of him returning. What is wrong with you?! There are two reasons I wouldn't take him back:

1. The timing of his exit was like spitting in our faces, and left us scrambling for panic buy. Had he left in the summer (or even the previous summer) and given us time to recruit an adequate replacement, then fine, I would have accepted it. It wasn't working for him.

I used to idolise him, and bought a shirt with his name on it. Since he has joined Chelsea, I have relished the way his career has crumbled.

2. I cannot see him ever re-capturing his early career form. Why? It's mostly in his own head. Have you all forgotten the sulky little girl that would throw tantrums at the referee in every game he didn't score? That mood on the pitch rubbed of on the rest of the team, and led in part to our inability to turn things around. You can see the same thing happening now at Chelsea when he plays - hence him being dropped and Chelsea turning the corner.

Get a grip, people. We are better off without him. One run of bad form and he would start moping around in girly strop again. How's that going to fit in with our new dawn as a football club? Back to the depressing days? No thanks!

Jimbo

I agree with a lot of what you say jimbo, except 'I have relished the way his career has crumbled.' how petty is that?

Needs Rafa

I may sound petty, and perhaps I am. But it just shows how angry and upset he made me feel. I'm afraid time has not yet dulled the betrayal.

Ooops. I've just done a search for posts by anybody called Jimbo, and realise I am not the only one. I shall forthwith refer to myself as Jimbo77.

It's pascal's wager time, Andy Carroll edition.
__________

We support the lad and he ends up being world class - End result; We have a great player who loves the club.

We support the lad and he ends up not making it - End result; We have an average player who love the club and we don't look like a**holes.

We moan about him and he ends up being world class - End result; We have a great player who doesn't love the club. We look like idiots/a**holes

We moan about him and he ends up not making it - End result; We have a bad player who doesn't like the club. We look like a**holes.
____________

Bearing in mind how much of youth player development is attributed to mental factors (Carra mention as much in an interview recently), it makes a lot more sense to just get behind the guy (and the team for that matter) rather than crying because he hasn't had the impact Suarez has in the short time he's been here.

That is the best and clearest post regarding Carroll ive read yet. Thank you very much.
Dara D

I have been watching Carrol's goals for Newcastlke on you tube and there is undoubted talent there.

Hopefully when his confidence improves and gets used to Liverpool style of football I am sure we will see the form he showed at Newcastle.

However, at the moment I think he should not be ahead of Maxi in pecking order.

Let me clear up a few things for you all..

My understanding is that the club would NOT be interested in signing Torres..

When he left, the club believed that he was never going to be the player that he once was..

He will not return, nor would he be welcome because of his behaviour before he left...

Cheers

Macca

That's great news - thanks Macca.

For £20m we could sign a younger, better, fitter and in-form striker.

JRG {Ed002's Note - There is no £20M related to Torres.}

Hes not even worth that tbh

Hi Ed02 - to be honest the monetary figure is not important - if Torres is for sale, as reports lead us to believe, then whoever buys him will be getting a duffer. He has lost his confidence, at least a yard of pace and his acceleration.

If you look at his goal scoring record it is very ordinary except for two very good seasons at Liverpool.

If Liverpool did have the type of money to spend in January to buy Torres, then I think it could be spent on someone who is young and eager.

Torres took his 20 pieces of silver.

JRG
{Ed002's Note - I remain really surprised that so many of the Liverpool fans think that the club should move for a player who is so out of form. There is no "for sale" sign, but if he is not performing well and cannot get in to the team and wants to move on something may be facilitated at some point. Certainly there is no £20M figure or anything like that. With Anelka effectively already gone and Drogba and Kalou away in January/February it seems unlikely that he will move even if another striker comes in. Chelsea are looking actively at new strikers at the moment but it is entirely unrelated to any situation that there may or may not be with Torres.}

Cheers Macca- thanks for the info mate

Fact of the matter is Torres has been rubbish for over 12 months. Why would we want him? Now I loved him during his time at the club and was gutted when he left but he made his bed and should sleep in. If he had scored more than 5 goals in a year I would consider it, but while Big Andy isn't firing on all cylinders it makes no sense to bring someone in with a worse goals scoring record than him (over the past 12 months). Forget the loyalty side of things, Torres has lost it, ain't worth 10m let alone 20.

davethebutcher

I'd take him back. Class never fully goes away, and if he was settled and happy he'd be in much better form. I can't see it happening though

Red Ollie

He seems to me a player that will never be happy. He was average at AM and was great for us but heh.....move on.
Look at John Aldridge. When we signed him people said who? He banged in the goals though.
Iggypop

In fairness to John Aldridge, he was hardly a nobody before joing Liverpool, and he has bangedin goals at all his clubs

Torres is just out of form...not sure if wenger will chance that. but then again he knows how good torres is and playin in a system like arsenal he would come alive.

£20 million i think is a good deal for a player who is 28 and still got a good 5 years in him.

I firmly believe that Torres wouldn't play for United. I doubt Wenger would take the risk on him. I'd have him back but doubt Kenny would want to risk the potential unrest. I'd say in England his most likely destination is Spurs

Red Ollie

Tbh, I believe Torres can only play in one way - counter attack. Torres scored a huge chunk of his goals from running behind the defence. Chelsea don't play that kind of football as they play high into the oppositions half. Arsenal do this too and United just cross it normally. Liverpool are starting to play like they should! Passing and moving. He would fit in here because he will be on the last man. I don't want him here because there are way better strikers out there but I doubt any of the other managers will take a chance on him.

Thanks, KickingBro

I'd like to be positive at this point because I love Kenny. I like the football we play under him and it has to be said its 10 times better than under hodgeson. If some games had gone our way then we could be around third spot by now.

Now to my point - if we don't finnish in the top four then will Kenny be sacked? Will Saurez move on? As much as I'd like to think this won't be the case, I'm certain that Fenway would have expected us to be top 4 this season. Every single game is vital now. I suppose the problem is we couldn't have imagined spurs doing so well.

Thoughts?

Gazman

I dont think they will fire kenny at all. He was brought in to steady the ship and get us on the straight and narrow. Only time he will leave is if he feels he is ready to and a successor is found.

Rewflo

The question is with, Carroll & Kuyt not in form, Suarez likley to recieve a 5 match ban and Gerrard only feeling his way back to match fitness do you think we can sustain a challenge for the top 4 with the players we have at our disposal? I think we possibly could but it would make sense to give ourselves a better chance by buying a decent striker in Jan.

I think you can count of them to be patient. Before the change this year, the Red Sox had the same manager for 8 years. (And it's still not clear if they sacked him, or if he decided to leave, or if he was quietly asked to decide to leave.) One thing that IS clear, the owners will get upset if players are seen munching on Popeye's fried chicken while a game in in progress.

Hi to all the eds and Liverpool fans from down under

I just want to make a point of what a pleasure it is to see Liverpool playing the style of football it is once again even though the results haven't all gone our way. It's a pleasure to stay up at all hours to be entertained by the the pass and move style once again.
Now a question to the ed's. Now I know the Andy Carroll topic has been done to death but if you could answer please? We all know that KK prefers the pass and move game so he must has seen in AC that if not straight away that eventually he would adapt to the game we are trying to implement and that him being young and raw it would take time to adjust. I personally think in time he will make all those skeptics eat there words just like Lucas has done.
Eds, do you feel the same way or being closer to the action do you see it differently.
P.S great site keep up the good work
Regards
Aussie Jim {Ed002's Note - Andy Carroll would not have been bought with a view to adapting to any free flowing, pass & move or whatever style of football. It would make no sense at all. I suspect he was bought to fill the role of the classic centre forward to have the touch player playing off him - a system Liverpool used many times over the years, going right back to the 1960s even with Hateley. Later there was Toshack with Keegan, etc.. It has not worked out for the kid so far but it is always tough without a run of games, and it is Catch-22 that he won't get a run of games until he is performing well. He is of course still young and it may click in to place, but he must remain a real nuisance to defenders when he does play.}

I do agree with ed. He creates plenty of space for others. Never been a fan of playing a lone striker as it requires an extremely physical player with bags of stamina to harass a defence on his own.

Carroll will get some time when Suarez is suspended and I'm sure he will step up.

Been reading all the Torres comments since the Daily Mail broke its story today.. Its clear that many of us have a head heart reaction.. with my heart id love to have Torres back at Anfield, scoring goals but my head says move on, spend 20m on someone else.
So, he left us.. we sold Alonso and Masch and we replaced them with Poulsen.. We sacked Benitez and replaced him with Hodgson.. So I get why he might think we were breaking promises, However.. When Torres left us at the END of the january transfer window we had new owners who were making changes, a new manager in Dalglish who was making a difference and Luis Suarez was about to sign.
So for me i have to think what happened to push Torres to move on, was it that he had just made his mind up and went.. Im not sure this was the case, just a few days before he left he made those comments about not leaving us.. so whatever happened to change his mind happened during that period. So was he pushed, did the management team and owners decide to cash in on a ridiculous couldnt be turned down offer of 50m!
Either way he left us and said the comments he did on ChelseaTV.. Now, any player moving to any club would say similar things to ingratiate themselves with the new clubs fans, as hurtful to us as it was to hear, im not sure he said anything that hasnt been said by most other players on the move. It might also be that he said what he said because he HAD been sold.. Yes it was released that HE had put in a transfer request but what if that was just part of the deal.. and he could have refused to go, but what if like our Capt Stevie G he had by now felt that he wasnt wanted and decided going to Chelsea might be the best option.
Why has Torres come out just a few weeks ago with comments about Liverpool fans not knowing the real truth? If he didnt care what we thought of him why would he make those comments?
My biggest thoughts on this ive said before.. why is it that ppl 'intheknow' are talking about Torres leaving Chelsea and returning 'home' to Liverpool. Is this all about trying to find out how the land lies as to his return to LFC.
If my best mate was captain of this great club then id assume id have a bit of knowledge of the capts opinion of players, esp those that have left the club.. so why is Paul McGrattan inspiring a twitter based #BringNandoHome campaign if as Ed and others have said that Torres isnt liked by our captain?
Also, Dalglish declined to comment on whether we would be buying a striker... for me this says we are looking for one.
Now i take in to account finances.. Had we never signed Torres and he came up for sale for 20m would we buy him? or should i say would FSG buy him and i think the answer is Yes... they have a background of buying players that are in their prime (27yrsold is prime striker age) with time left to sell on, who are having issues or troubled backgrounds.. Now look at who we have bought so far.. Carroll, certainly had troubled background, Bellamy, been known for his bad behaviour, Suarez!! need i say more... So Torres fits the FSG bill as someone who can be turned around and still have a sell on value..
All in all i still dont know... He was and could be again a great striker for Liverpool but do we take the risk?
ItsNotRocketScience

27, poor form for nearly 2 years, 4-5 year contract, £150k+ per week, No Champ League football ... yet (as he wanted).... where's the sell on value? and where's the logic? Also, call me stubborn just don't forgive so easily....

Aside from that I think the story is a load of nonsense, he may go at the end of the season and Chelsea will sign the 'next' Messi/Maradonna/Pele/Cryuff or whomever...

Richards

Kenny Dalglish sold and resigned Ian rush in a 12 month period , using the finance to rebuild his side .

He the reintergrated the great striker Ian Rush into the revamped & newly formed team .

I would welcome a return of Fernando Torres into our ever growing unit .

1977

I dont think many Clubs would give him a 4-5yr contract.. or pay those wages.. Esp not us.. Sometimes ya have to go backwards to move forwards.. i think thats what torres did, moved backwards.. whether he moves to us to move forward is another question..
Poor form is the reason he is for sale.. no doubt about that, not disagreeing with u... but he has shown flashes of form coming back.. before he left and before he was sent off against Swansea.. He will come good again.
As for sell on value.. were already 30M up on the deal.. anything we get selling him on is a bonus isnt it?..
I dont think we will buy him.. but its a possibilty we might try to..
ItsNotRocketScience

I understand your argument, but that is the type of contract he would expect though and he could achieve ... Malaga, Milan, PSG? He could then move on a free/cheap to Athletico/Anzi/US etc at the age of 32ish.

I don't get the money argument... he cost £25m, sold for £50m, money for AC of £35m...

Personally I don't see us paying the wages that he would command to anyone until we get Champions League football again. That is what helped get us in the mess a couple of years ago. I do feel he can still be a success but I don't think he can sustain the form in the EPL in my opinion, for £20m I would expect more than flashes of talent...

Richards

Why is the original poster reading the daily mail?? It should be boycotted every much as the scum now.

I dont read the Mail mate or the Spam.. I saw the details on twitter and the ensuing discussion that came from it..

You make good points.. we all gonna have a different take on the topic i guess.. Im going to just wait and see what happens, if anything!

ItsNotRocketScience

How did you know he/ she was reading the Daily Mail??

We'll wait and see itsNotRocketScience I'll take most bets though... and whilst I would love a 2006-7 FT playing for us I detest the way he was angling for a move for 6 months, if not more, and the content he held the club and colleagues in before his move.

I'm probably most annoyed at the fact he could have become a true legend, but will just be another player who had a couple of great seasons...

Richards

Ur right about that much Richards... he coulda been a legend!
Im not sayin he should come back or that i want him back.. still undecided.. im just saying i think theres more to it than he left us... I cant blame him for angling for a move during 5 of the last 6 months he was with us.. just wish he had had the balls not to panic and stayed on till end of season to see what happened..

Hey ED, Torres always said that Liverpool fans don't know the exact reasons behind his move that have yet to be made public. Do you know any of them? just wondering.

Daniel Rogers. {Ed002's Note - WE really don't want to get involved in gossip at all.}

14 Dec 2011 12:16:42
Heard we are being linked with a Spanish international striker. His goal scoring record over the last 2 years is awful, his work rate is poor. His attitude is worse. He has slagged of Liverpool several times over the last year. He can't get into a team Liverpool smashed twice this year at home. He is injury prone and his knees are gone. His wage demands are massive and we can get him for "just" 20m.

MIKEY

Fernando Torres is not up for sale just poor journalism, so please stop with the rumours. Anelka is leaving, Drogba and Kalou leave for the African cup of nations, so that leaves Torres, Lukaka and Sturridge to play up top for chelsea. AVB likes to play sturridge down the right, Lukaka clearly isn't ready for the EPL yet, so that leaves Torres to play up front. Why would Chelsea sell?

Yes agree 100%. and actually think Torres will come into his own once there playing him like this.

What if they sign new players tho?

phil {Ed002's Note - If they do Torres may move on at some point, but almost certainly not to Liverpool.}

14 Dec 2011 11:30:14
a question for ed001 if we were to move for de jong and sissoko have we got competition and if so are we topping it.also are we looking at say 25m for both players as ed002 says de jong is around 12.6m.thanks alot DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - we would have competition for both, but I would expect us to have a very good chance of getting them.}

I cant personally see us buying Sissoko good as he may be. We have Gerrard, Lucas, Adam, Henderson all which play best in the centre and all of which can be considered first team. In addition to that we have shelvey as a young understudy. I think a winger is maybe a bit more likely.

rewflo

I agree Rewflo... to a point. For me if we get Champions league football next season can see the need for someone like Sissoko.

Richards

I wonder if KK and DC are starting to look at Gerard's injury problems and thinking that he can no longer be relied on to be fit for most of a season?
Dont want to be a doom and gloom merchant, but count how many games he's missed in 2011 through injury, and add to that that fact that he is into his thirties and will start to slow down a bit in the next couple of seasons.

Hopefully he'll come back and be ever-present again, but think about it- if you were KK, and you had the clubs fortunes resting on your decisions, would you count on Gerard for the long term, or start looking at the likes of Sissoko as a long term replacement?
For me, if Gerard really is a concern, then we don't have enough top quality CMs to achieve what we want over a full domestic and European season.

Agreed unsigned... with the number of games you could also 'protect' SG as Ferguson has done with the likes of Giggs, Scholes, etc meaning he stays fit and has a bigger impact (hopefully).

Richards

14 Dec 2011 11:55:31

Barry Bannan-young,creative spark, good passing and crossing
Think that he would add to the squad we have.
And maybe a winger in January such as blackburn's hoilett or Celtics Forrest. Both would be reasonably cheap and are young. Maybe blood some youngsters into the squad as well instead of spending lots of Money on players for every position.

If liverpool fear the Suarez hearing could go wrong, then Torres may not be back to play alongside Suarez but instead of, has anybody given that a thought? horrible scenario.

14 Dec 2011 11:50:19
Can everyone stop all these Torres posts its getting really boring now he has moved on and so have we as a team and as a club we are in a better place now. He's not coming back even if he had the chance to come back I don't think he would have the guts to after what was said we all know what type of player/person he is but just for the record I would love the old Torres back but he chose to leave us and leave us in the s@#t in all honesty so instead of wishing for him to come back lets get behind Carroll because he could be a great one day

14 Dec 2011 11:46:58
Time to forgive, he could be the goalscorer we need to convert the host of chances we are creating each game.

His armband said he was a red torres torres
He sold his soul to sit on the bench torres torres
He knows he made a big mistake
He'll say he's sorry its not to late
Fernando torres Liverpool homeward bound.

Chris.

I like that song though

Daniel Rogers.

Red doesn't rhyme with bench, sounds sleezy. Good thinking though..

the time torres returns is the time ed002 joins twitter.DORSET RED {Ed002's Note - You can imagine that. Did anyone get around to producing the "ED002 Out" Facebook page?}

Im not getting at ed 002 just saying its more likely for him to join twitter than torres returning as he never will join twitter.DORSET RED {Ed002's Note - And I understood that perfectly and asked an innocent question. But there is always one isn't there.}

14 Dec 2011 11:42:15
I think that now were developing a much more powerful, skilfull and mobile central defensive partnership in skyrtle and agger the need for a defensive midfielder isnt as much of a problem, although i have grown to love lucas i still feel that he offers very little going forward and this has shown in our attacking play, i honestly belive we are currently 2 x players short of making the top 4 this season but i feel with the addition of a quality goal scorer and an out an out winger we will be able to compete, im sure that these two areas will be adressed in january and a real push for the top will happen.
Jaydee

This season Lucas has been playing lots more forward passes and getting moves going- he doesn't run forwards with it that much, but his passing is improving all the time, and if he keeps on going he'll be a midfield monster.
Even now, I'd take him over Mascherano any day.

How funny that when we signed Lucas he was regarded as the brazilian Gerrard, we all laughed. Now though he is starting to mirror Gerrards career...

Started as DM, high work rate.
Moved to a more complete role added passing to his game.

All he needs is some shooting boots and I honestly think he would be the perfect box to box player.

Thanks Rafa

Rewflo

Rewflo, your post should have been in the past tense mate. We hope that he'll be just as effective when he returns from injury.
The Real KB

Sorry it was supposed to be in past tense. We can thank rafa for a few things one of those is his stubborn refusal to stop playing lucas

Rewflo

He'll certainly stay on the pitch more often than Mascherano is ever lightly to do in the EPL. He doesn't seem to do the headless chicken, must kick someone, lunging tackles very often, if ever.
ND

I think in time henderson is going to be gerrards natural replacement, he will be more of a box to box midfielder than lucas will ever be, but dont get me wrong i think lucas is awsome and wouldnt swap him for anyone at the moment and im sure hell be fine when he gets back from injury

would love to see torres in the red again in my opinion the best striker ive ever seen play for liverpool i know the eds will tire of us raging torres supporters but there is and allways will be a massive love affair between lfc and torres fernando torres liverpool no 9 wont get my hopes up untill he declares it torres made a massive mistake joining chelsea liverpool fc are giants on football terms lfc are stronger now and with torres of old we would be formiddable {Ed002's Note - As long as you don't expect a response we won't tire.}

14 Dec 2011 11:20:04
some of our best players in recent times havent cost alot and were not exactly world beaters at the time.this is what we want now world class potential at low cost.value for money.some examples are:
reina 6m
agger 6m
lucas 8m
alonso 10m
kuyt 9m
enrique 6m
adam 6m

if we can get these players now who are the same price or under 15m would represent bargains i mean suarez has doubled already.people need to remember we havent got loads of money ala city chelsea.thats why i see a signing in january at around 12-15m mark and on less than 90k a week.DORSET RED

We paid 6million for lucas from gremio

14 Dec 2011 11:18:04
I have a theory, that once Torres heard that Vidic was out for the season, he thought to himself, "well, there goes my chance of scoring a couple of goals this season, time to move on" :)

14 Dec 2011 11:16:40
I'd have Torres back at Liverpool, for 20 mil.
I'd slap that number 9 right back on his back.
I'd enjoy the movement between him and Suarez,
I'd count those goals just come rolling in 2012
I'd enjoy us back playing CL football
Torres was made for pass and move football
He did it before, He'll do it again (for us).

I wouldnt take the number 9 off Carroll. Thats just cruel to Carroll.

If so, see you in Feb!

Yeah I can't wait till feb. all this Torres talk is just getting old already isn't it?

14 Dec 2011 11:11:03
Not that I think Torres will or would come back. I don't even think we would bid for him anyway. Forgetting on whats went on in the past and looking at current form he is not even worth 20million. We should all not be be worried and forget about him cause he will not be back. Look to the future. Buy young players and groom them in the liverpool way and make them superstars.

Hi to all fellow Kopites, and hi to all the dillusional loonaticks on this site. Just can't get my head around the fact that people on this site are willing to take back that turn coat traitor Torres. Do people on here not forget that he left us in a whole world of s##t, by demanding a transfer just day's before the transfer window closed. Oh and not forgeting he went to one of our biggest rivals who he had the audacity to call a bigger club. DO ONE TORRES! Hope you rot in your Chelski hell.

14 Dec 2011 11:03:26
I have to admit that i was not a big Maxi fan at first but the way he finished last season, and that way he has played this season when given a chance has been fantastic.

I would love to see Liverpool play with Maxi and Bellamy out wide with Suarez up front, with a midfield three of Gerrard, Adam and Lucas. (Fitness allowing)

I think that side would have enough balance, pace, passing and movment to trouble any side. Then plan B if that wasn't working send on Downing and Carroll and get some crosses in the box for the big man.

As reguarding transfers i would like to see Kuyt go as i no longer see him as a first team starter, and not much of an impact sub. And i would like to see another striker come to the club as scoring goals seems to be the clubs weakness at the moment.

But overall i'm happy with the blend of football Liverpool are playing under Kenny, just need a few more goals!!

Basil

People underestimate kuyts affect. He steadies that right hand side and eases the pressure off johnson with his backtracking, which lets be honest Johnson needs. When Bellamy henderson or Downing play there Johnson gets exposed.

Rewflo

Thanks for the reply Rewflo, comments and thoughts are always welcome.

I know where you are coming from as reguards Kuyt's work rate, but i feel he is not a natural wide player, and doesn't score enough to be a striker, and he is not getting any younger. So i feel it is time for him to move on.

Basil

14 Dec 2011 11:02:58
Torres, villa, Tevez, Hazard, Neymar, Sneijder, Erikson, Lucas all great players without a doubt. Now look at the 5 teams currently above us, they are all looking to improve in these positions, at this point do you really think even if these do move we are a more attractive option? we need to forget about the big established stars and identify promise. The alternative is finding someone near the end of there career who is not getting match time but we can use for a year untill our kids are ready.

14 Dec 2011 10:15:21
Hello Ed,
these rumours about Villa and Torres must be insane. I don't see either of them coming to Liverpool next year, not to mention January. But if Chelsea do get Villa it's posssible they'll probably look to cash Fernando. We have to remember that Anelka is out, Drogba with unknown future at Chelsea. I doubt they will sell Torres. The question is : Is LFC really interested in getting him back? I don't they are although I don't have any "inside informer". We all know that LFC struggles to score but they've got Suarez, Carroll(whom they'll probobly won't sell unless good money is tabled) plus Kuyt plus Bellamy. That seems to be enough. I doubt KK will be very agressive on the market February 1st come.
greetings from Poland

14 Dec 2011 10:10:58
We must definately do everything we can to get Torres back. I have one reason for this, my two dogs are called Torres and Gerrard !
The one called Torres is very confused, he used to be the favourite but now gets very little love and affection. I have tried calling him Suarez but he just sticks a paw ( finger !) up at me.
Gerrard is fine but getting a bit fat due to lack of exercise. Hopefuly with Torres back he would get back to his old self very quickly

14 Dec 2011 10:02:45
Just going to point out to the people saying 'Torres won't be sold to an English club for £20 million' that we bought Robbie Keane not so long ago for £20 million, and sold him back to the same club for half the price six months later.

Also going to point out that if we did buy Torres for £20 million (although I'm not saying we should), then it would *technically* mean that we'd only bought Carroll for £5 million, and make that transfer not so embarrassing.
If we were going to spend £20 million on a player, I personally think there's a lot of better options than Torres out there! {Ed001's Note - there is a huge difference between the two, Torres is not engaged in off field activities detrimental to his professional career.}

Oh, I fully agree with you Ed, I'd take Torres over Carroll every day of the week. I think Carroll has potential, but he's never going to fit in properly with the style of play we've adopted and Dalglish has finally come to realise that. I just think it would be a huge gamble bringing Torres back; would he ever rediscover his old form?

A.C.

14 Dec 2011 10:01:02
Fernando Torres jumped ship when we needed him most. No loyalty to our club, why even think about a return? It's sweet justice this season when I see him warming a bench for £50 million, thought the grass was greener and his wallet fatter.
Move on, walk on, Torres is history in our beloved club.
Ultra red

14 Dec 2011 09:55:02
Players have come and gone, same as any other club has experienced, and some individuals departures are harder to take than others.

This whole "supposed" Torres situation has me split down the middle in regards to opinion. Everyone knows what he did for us positively and also negatively, and as every LFC fan felt back in January, I was gutted he left us. Lets look at a few points which are factors in the situation, if the story is indeed true.

Chelsea are a major rival for CL places this season, would they sell to us? Taking a 30 mill loss on a player to send him back to the club they bought him from the year before?

Would Torres want to return to us?

Would we want him?

Wages, surely he would have to take a pay cut?

Commerical revenue to be earned from him returning?

His form?

Other clubs interest?

Issues with the LFC family/vice versa?

Effect on Carroll and squad morale?

Football is a strange thing, tribal allegiences form and bond you to a club and you feel such a deep,
emotional connection with the club that you support. As difficult as it is, remember how all of us, myself included have slated Torres and lets be honest, enjoyed the fact it hasn't worked out for him at Chelsea, which is understandable on our part!

First whiff that he may be available and the old nostalgia has literally swarmed back in a lot of fans, which is again understandable, as it is with others who don't wish to see him return. It's like your partner of years leaving you, emotions are raw and some long for a reconcilliation, others wish to never set eyes on them again.

Lets not beat around the bush, we need a finisher and Torres was one of the best and maybe he still is and that could be re-ignited with a return. Speculation is a dizzying thing as none of us truely knows what is/did go on.

So lets have a concensus fellow Reds, believeable you'd have Torres back, Unbelieveable you wouldn't.

Best wishes and seasons greetings

The A man

14 Dec 2011 10:39:22
Ed's can you open a separate Torres page?

Because i thought i would log on to see if there were any rumours about signings as it is getting near Jan. All I can see are people talking about is the return of the sulk.

Anyone got any really news about real targets?

Basil

14 Dec 2011 10:28:20
Another theory, If torres does want to come back and is willing to take a pay cut to join us and if chelsea are willing to let him go for 20 million, it would mean we would actually end up paying only 5 million for Carrol.
I dont know about the emotional aspect but financially it makes perfect sense.

But I doubt chelsea would let him go for 20 million only after an year.

Sunny {Ed002's Note - Your math is sadly lacking. Liverpool paid £35M for Carroll. If Liverpool did not spend £35M on Carroll they would have £35M in the bank.}

Hi ed. I understand all that. The comment was more in retrospection rather than anything else. I know we paid 35 million for carrol and that wont be recouped. I just think it would be a good deal overall. Thats why i started with "if torres".

Sunny {Ed002's Note - It is not a point being made just to you Sunny - many LIverpool fans somehow have the same fundamental math problem.}

I guess its wishful thinking more than anything else. I for one would love to have him back if he wanted to come back. We are all allowed one big mistake in our lives i guess.

Sunny

14 Dec 2011 10:27:22
Are people seriously thinking we should re-sign Fernando Torres? Irrespective of the way he left, he is not the player he once was. We should sign Soldado in my opinion. Out of interest to anyone who wants to answer - if we do sign a striker, where would that leave Andy Carrol. I can't see him being happy to sit on the bench at and be 3rd choice striker at the age of 23 when he really needs to be playing regularly.

Ash

Wow, I'm agreeing with Ash. Good post mate and spot on

Things this season would be a lot different if we would have taken our chances and beat the teams we really should have! We should of beat Utd, City, Swansea and Norwich. Maybe more.. To put all this on one mans shoulders is too much (Suarez).. In my opinion we should play Carroll more, I think I good run in the team and he would have scored quite a few by now.. But I can say when he is on the field we change our game and it goes long all the time, but that isn't Carrolls fault, that's the lazy way his TEAMMATES play, anyone can pump a ball up field. We still haven't got our best team sorted, losing Lucas is a massive loss.

What I would try and do is, in an ideal world, Loan Carroll out, maybe back to Newcastle and then get Torres back, on loan with a view to buying for 20m in the summer.. If Torres still fails then send him back, in the mean time Carroll may be firing and we get him back! Or go for something new altogether, also we need a massive impact player Gerrard-esque to join.

Who would be a manager eh!

P.S. Great Site Ed's.

14 Dec 2011 09:49:51
Why do people want Torres back, he was looking duff near the end of his spell with us. We know he was disruptive and moody round the club, we are now seeing genuine team spirit and you want to wipe that out and go back to egos.

What's he done in the last year to suggest he should come back.

I could even see Man Utd and Spurs stupid enough to take him on, I think he needs to do himself a favour and go back to Spain and humble himself a bit, back to Athletico and to Malaga maybe. He's ruined any goodwill he had over here and tarnishing the memory of what a great player he was for a while

14 Dec 2011 09:42:47
I totally agree with ed 1 i would hate to see Torres in a red shirt. All he as done since going is slag the club off and he said he left for a bigger club well if he thinks that then he can stay there.

The club will always be bigger than one player. Torres made his bed he has to lie on it. I dont think KK would even entertain the idea. Why would you want a striker who is clearly not a top player any more and is struggling even too get in a struggling chelsea side. We have moved on from torres and we are 100 times better for it.

Simple:
Suarez + Torres = goals
Bring him back and it will be proven that this will be the most leathal partnership in football.
He knows he made a mistake, that's why his heads not right. He needs to come back home.

He went to a 'bigger' club which could fit his huge ego

hi eds ! as i saw you guys guessing that in january we will get players maybe in the striker and mid-field position. and people saying different players but some of them are unrealistic.what's your thought will we go for a player will cost over 20 mill.or will we go for young,unknown players? and from shich league? epl,spain,dutch,france,italy...or from latin america?

also are there any chance of getting these players:villa,soldado,higuain,gignac,bent,munian,salvio,

any other name you wanna share ? {Ed002's Note - Please read the posts and the answers. We are not hiding anything and have already said what we expect but there are no firm names. Where there is interest in a player we have said, where a player is unobtainable (e.g. Higuain) we have said.}

14 Dec 2011 09:24:10
I thought I'd give my opinion on the Torres matter...

Looking at all the issues people have mentioned I think the following:

1. His ability - People on here say that he isn't the striker he was, Look at the united game. Barring his glaring miss (which even the best strikers are prone too - I once saw Van Basten hit the bar from a yard away for Ajax) he was showing signs of being the old Torres. Before he left he was showing signs of being the old Torres as well, and 27-31 is peak years for a striker. He may have lost a little pace but a good player can adapt to that with clever movement.

2 - Psychological condition - This is linked the above, I feel that part of the reason he doesnt perform well at chelsea is a lack of feeling and desire for the club, excasterbated by his lack of playing time. I think back to something Sam Allardyce said years ago about Fowler. He said that the reason Fowler hadn't done as well at other clubs was because he didnt have the same passion for the other clubs that he did for us. Low and behold when he came back, his effort and performance improved greatly. Torres was widely known to have affection for us before coming to us, no reason to think that he would still not.

3. The treason - This is linked to the above in a way, yes it hurt us all that he wanted to leave. There were reasons though, He had been told there would be improvements to the team for a year or, instead of seeing improvements he saw Xabi leave, Mascherano leave and replaced with poor players. Honestly how many people saw us going forward when we signed players like that? I used to have genuine anger for Houllier, he tried to drive us into the ground and even claimed that he would never let us return to the glory days of the 80's, through his genuine affection for the club and also through time I have no ill feelings toward him anymore. I was equally angry about Torres, now I realise that being angry at him doesnt make him feel worse or me feel better. I think if he were genuinely sorry for the way he left, then maybe he could be forgiven. People in this world hold far too many grudges.

4. What would he bring - This is probably the biggest sticking point, would he be the old Torres? Partly yes, partly no. Yes because you dont just lose finishing ability, pace yes, fitness yes. Not your actual ability though. So while he may be slower he will still be able to put good chances away. No because it is a gamble on a player who has not been in good form for a while, but like before if you look at the united game and the couple of games after it before he got red carder he was coming into good form and looked hungry. Since he returned from suspension he's not really had much playing time. Having a striker with his ability would be good for the other strikers in the team, eases the pressure of them and also eases the pressure of him.

Overall - I dont think that Kenny will buy him, I think he would sooner go a different direction without Torres. I do also think though that he would be a good addition to the team but under a few conditions:

1. He would have to be genuinely sorry, and apologise to the fans for his previous comments.
2. He would have to be wiling to work for his place, we would be buying him for competition for places so he would have to provide some competition.

Like I said, I dont think Kenny will buy him. Notice I didnt mention price at all? Price is largely relative, what one team considers cheap another considers expensive. Carroll may have cost 35m and some people consider this expensive...remember Ronaldo cost 80m so Carroll was a bargain by that scale. Or if you dont agree with that...Shevchenko cost 30m and Carroll is 8 years younger with plenty of time to improve so he was cheap by that comparison too. Price doesnt matter and too many fans get hung up on it, as long as the club is in control of the finances then price of a player doesnt matter.

Ok friend accept your comment but who is going to pay £150k week ? did he ready to work in half of that salary ? suarez did well in half of torres payment.

Rewflo,

You really are a crazy type of writer. You are very spot on and you spoke as if you knew my heart.

He may not return to us but for some of us, we will always love him no matter what. An idol does not just go down the drain like that, no matter what.

Good point of views Rewflo. Real good.

O'seunfunmi (Anfield Red)

Side note to my post :

Someone further down the forum mentions that Gerrard wanted to leave twice. I have his book and it does say that and the second time was right after winning champions league, if we can forgive that from our club captain straight after the greatest moment in recent club history then surely Torres could be forgiven?

Rewflo

Thanks O'seunfunmi. I appreciate the comment. I just try to be objective and not let emotion get in the way too much.

To be honest mate why even both with all that hassle and team unsettlement? Why not just go for a striker who is on form who can cost around 20 million? I'd prefer Dan Sturridge who may not be available but at 20-25 million they could be tempted - especially since he doesn't want to play on the wide right. I'm just dreaming to be honest, haha

Thanks, KickingBro

I cannot believe the large percentage of supporters seem desperate to get Torres back at the club.
His last 18 months with us were dire, he skulked around like a spoiled brat when on the field and he has gone on to loose form even further. He left us and (unlike Xabi who has done nothing but praise us even when he was mistreated by our then management), went on to make out that we were nothing much more than a dirty mess on his shoe.
I say its clearly come back to bite him, hope you do well at Roma or wherever you may end up.

Human beings are different my friend.
You do not expect your immediate younger brother or even your twin to have the same attitude as you do.
But we can all learn cant we?

Anfield Red

Looks like everyone is getting on their high horse and saying torres wanted out and betrayed us etc. and should not be taken out- are we not forgetting that Gerrard also agreed to leave only to change his mind later. If he is taken back the positives are: he will be playing under Kenny who will defo know how to get the best from him, 27 yrs od and should be at his peak, and he will want to win the fans back n to his side. WIN WIN situation in my opinion- and if he does not deliver, well then a Spanish club will take him for 15m - goo calaculated risk IMO.

Lets be fair its not just torres that sulked around. Reina did, Gerrard has been average at best for about a year and a half (if he isnt injured) and the entire team played badly. IF any of those players had been offered the chance to leave they probably would have such was the poor state of the club. It doesnt excuse torres' actions but it does explain them.

I think the one point we should all agree on whether Torres comes back or not is this;
THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY AFTER LIVERPOOL AND THAT IS DOWN. WE ARE THE GREATEST.
As I say i'd take him back but can understand the fans who don't.The moral of his transfer just proves to me though how great our club is. ha ha ha

I agree Mcmanaman went straight down after leaving us...wait no he didnt he went on to win the champions league. Something which we couldnt have offered until he had long retired.

If Torres is to return to Liverpool and its unlikely how is her wage demands going to be met?

Is not her wage at chelsea 200k a week?

Will ther owners pay this?

Can the club afford this?

Is is wise to do this?

Torres can't score do we really need another striker that can't score we already have Suarez and Carroll do we need a trio of them?

14 Dec 2011 08:45:11
I hate him for leaving but if what the mail are saying is true I would role out the red carpet for him especially at 20 million. Suarez and Torres that would be lethal

I wouldnt id get him back just so he could clean the toilets as punishment for the things he said about the club

Fellow Supporters,

I read about the back and forth discussion on whether we would like to have Torres back or not, and I would like to voice my opinion.

If I had the opportunity to bring Torres back to the club, would I? My answer will be Yes. Please read before you criticize me.

Ian Rush played for Liverpool between 1980-87, joined Juventus in a controversial manner but returned to Liverpool by 1988 and played for another eight seasons to become Liverpool's highest goal scorer of all time. Question is, "Why did Ian come back?"

According to His book, titled 'My Italian Diary' in 1989. He came back due to his struggles to integrate himself in the dressing room at Juventus and adapt to the Italian style of play'

When Ian came back to Liverpool, he came into serious competition in Peter Beardsley and John Aldridge, who was brought in as a replacement for him, but in spite of Aldridge starting ahead of Ian, over time he came back into form and performed wonders during the FA cup against Everton. And he kept doing that until his last match which some see today as a huge disappointment.

If that happened to Ian, could it not happen with Torres? A wonder striker turned sour. A striker everyone would give a tooth and a nail to have. Until when he had injuries and start the slide down, Torres was an all form of striker combined into one. We all knew this and worshiped him like a demi-god. I was not in the dressing room but whatever got him bitter really worked -ve on him.

He left when we needed him most - Yes! Admitted! I understand that he said things and disrespected the club. Yes he did! We really felt bad about it! But what if he becomes repentant? What if he wants back? (I'm not sure of this, it is just for the sake of argument).

How many times have you watched one of our players fumble with the ball at the opponent's post and you caught yourself saying "OMG! An in-form Torres would have scored that"? The truth is deep in the corners of the heart of some of us, we will always love Torres, whether good, or bad or ugly.

Anyways, KK knows best and whatever we say are just opinions. We have one of the best strikers in Suarez, an upcoming one in Carroll (I still very much believe in him), a back-up 'hound' in Bellamy, but we could do with a fox-in-the-box kinda striker like Torres or Higuain.

I am not keen on Torres coming back, but if he does come, I would love it. And we should probably welcome him like the father of the prodigal son did. Torres in our pass and play type of football will be like icing on our cake. You will dispute that only if you've got beef for football.

Like I have always said, I love Torres and even if he does not come back, he will still be an idol to me. Whichever way it is, January will tell a lot for us.

I expect that you would criticize my post but do it in a very reasonable manner so we can all learn from whatever you have to say.

PS: I dont mean to disrespect my fellow supporters with the above, it is just my view about him.

O'seunfunmi (Anfield Red) {Ed001's Note - Rush was forced out, Torres forced his way out, stop comparing the two! That is so disrespectful to a true great in Rush, as opposed to a lad who chose the easy route.}

Come on Ed! Do not get me wrong.
I never meant any disrespect to Rush the great. I said he left in controversial circumstances. I never said he wanted to leave. I was only trying to prove a point by saying if Torres actually wants back, we should be forgiving. Funniest is, we are only trying to pour our hearts out and nothing else.

Let's not dwell too much on the past. We should only think of ways to move on ;)

And Ed001, I love the spirit you display in the support of our great club. Nice one from you.

Regards,
O'seunfunmi (Anfield Red) {Ed001's Note - I am sorry, I just find it disrespectful to compare the two. Rush was a part of the team, he was one of the lads and really fitted and was one of the lads. Torres was a loner, he was not interested in the club, he never fitted in with his team mates. The only thing Torres cares about is Fernando Torres.}

I though Rush left for european football? Yeah the owners took the money but there is no denying he did leave for that.

3 things frustrate me when reading these pages.

1. Unreasonably pessimistic moaners.

2. Repeated asking of same or similar questions.

3. Constant suggestions/requests/demands that we must go out and spend big on top players.

Do such people actually understand that it takes time to build a winning team?

Even citeh, with the endless oil money they have, took a few years to get where they are.

Kenny has been at the helm juz abt a year and we've already made huge progress.

Barcelona took years of grooming to get where they are today.

Even fergie the red nosed gaffer had 7 yrs with the mancs b4 they won anything.

Arsenal could've had a great dynasty under Wenger too, but i'm of the opinion that it didn't quite work out cos he had too many foreign kids n too few local lads. All those kids who didn't call london/arsenal home eventually wanted to move on or go home.

I've said this b4 n i'll say it all day- we have a chance to be the next dynasty.

We have a great bunch of kids coming through, most of whom are english and many are local scouse lads.

In 2/3/4 yrs time, we juz may be flying high.

Have patience ok? We've waited so long. Let's have a bit more patience so that we can do it right and lay the foundation not juz for success but for success that lasts.:-)

There are better strikers worthy of playing for Liverpool who cost 20 million. I'd rather buy someone on form. We should bid for Daniel Sturridge 20-25 mil and see where that goes. He clearly doesn't like playing wide right but with Suarez he can be dangerous.

Thanks, KickingBro

Personally I dont like sturridge, seems like a petulant whinger at times. And I doubt Chelsea will sell so your theory of buying him instead is flawed.

For all the people who want torres back willing to forget the past .. Do u also realise that he's actually lost form completely and has gained a bit of weight and lost some pace? Its a blessings that he was sold otherwise he wouldve been showing the same form in liverpool as he is in chelsea and we'd have to make excuses for him all the time .. even if all forgiven he's not worth more than 5 mill plus True Red

Personally if Torres came back it would be a big slap in the face to the team and the club.
You think carrol is not up to scratch fair enough but to bring in a player who betrayed us to replace him in 1 way or another would surely make him worse. He is only young and seems as though he has at least willingness to to adapt to the proper way of playing football and move away from the old English hoof the ball to forward. Uruseb

14 Dec 2011 07:35:15
Lets forget all the emotion about Torres.At the end of the day all players are doing a job of work like most of us on here and he thought he could further his career and income by moving.Football is now a business and as such I view the situation as a simple question.Who would I rather have upfront with Luis the answer my friends is a no brainer its Torres every time. Andy cant seem to get a place in a team that cant score goals so Kenny doesnt see him as a solution to our goal drought .At £20 million its got to be a gamble worth taking.
Come home Fernando all is not forgiven but 15-20 goals by the end of the season might just win us all over.

Derek

I completely agree with the start of your post. You're absolutely right, football is a business and a job to these players. Which makes me think, if I was contracted to a company and was one of their highest performers, then I was headhunted by a rival company and not only did I walk out on my company who had made me into the top performer that I was, but also, continued to speak about them to anyone who would listen in a derogatory manner, I'm guessing that if it didn't work with my new company, I wouldn't be welcomed back by my former company anytime soon, especially if I was struggling to perform in my chosen industry. Whatever job/industry you are in, if you sh*t on a company that basically made you, to think about returning is very naive.

I do think that he would be happier at Liverpool, I think some fans may overlook what happened, I think he was young, very poorly advised, and knows he made an immature mistake. With age and experience would it have changed his mindset? Maybe. If it has, good luck to him at his new club and I hope he is successful. He did give us some good times, but when you leave like he did, it leaves a very bitter taste and too much damage was done. If his confidence is suffering now, how much do you think his confidence will suffer when although half of Anfield may be cheering, the other half, people who worshipped him like a god, are now booing him, and you cannot blame these people, because he didn't just let the club down, he let each and every individual supporter down.

Like I say, I don't wish the lad bad for the rest of his life as people do make mistakes and hopefully learn from them, but he will have to take his lesson to a club that will not hold the past against him if he really wants to move on and succeed again.

Good reply Welsh Scouse and I agree with your points.I believe we all make mistakes in our working lives but fortunately for most of us we are not in the public eye and do not get our every word analysed and distorted by the scandal hungry media.If Kenny wants and has him back I for one would back him and Torres all the way,I will always give anyone in a Red shirt my 100% support just might not love him as much as I once did.

I won't even buy Torres on Fifa 12!!

Red from SA

When he left us and i was playing fifa 11 he went in the reserves and on the transfer list but no team would buy him, so i spent the next 8 months playing with a Barca team until 2012 came out and now i have a very strong Liverpool squad again. I couldn't bear to even see his name in a liverpool squad, should have released him!
I honestly felt as bad as i think i would have if my missis ran off with my brother!
Will never forgive you fernando!

Fernando Torres.....................

Just a few thoughts regarding the situation.

£20,000,000 will be the price for anyone outside the EPL. Add 15,000,000 for anyone else in the EPL and add £20,000,000 for LFC!

Would he fit back in to the set up? Probably
Would he re-discover his goal scoring form? Probably
Would he take a pay cut to re-join LFC? Probably Not
Would the Fans forgive him? Probably (As long as the goals started flowing)
Should the fans forgive him? Yes. (All he did was leave for a better paid job! Not a single one of you wouldn't)
If LFC could get him for £20,000,000 should they? Yes. (As long as he takes a pay cut)

Love him or hate him, with the right service this lad is a goal machine! Played along side Suarez = Goals, Goals, Goals! After all, its about the team winning games and not about personal choices past or present!

Come home torres

Stevie Misses ya !

Don't u get his legs are gone and he is no longer the same player? Does that not make u think?

Would you take back a girlfriend or boyfriend who treated you like Torres did to us? Run away to grab glory (ha) and cash simply because there was some work to be done. He had a face like a slapped arse all of last autumn. I haven't forgiven Mancini for trying to publicly tap him up. But then he couldn't wait to dump on us. Let him go back to Spain in disgrace. No Champions League, no international place, no honour.
ND

Plenty of players lose their legs and are still great players, Fowler is a classic example. You just have better movement and it compensates for a lack of pace.

Perhaps Luis Ronaldo is an even better example. He lost all his pace after the two injuries at inter and went on to claim World Player of the year... again. Along with spanish league titles and a pichichi

I'm totally distraught at the fact that people WANT Torres back at the club. Sure he may have a lethal partnership with Suarez, sure he may regain form, but I'd never want him back.

Sure, we respect him, but he turned his back on us.

Torres turned his back on us when we needed him the most.

Torres said 'Liverpool's situation wasn't looking good, so I left'

Torres said that the Dressing Room at Chelsea is more entertaining and different to the Liverpool one

Torres never attended any team bonding activities.

Torres left when millions of fan idolized him.

Torres was one my favorite players, he was fabulous, we all loved him. More even than our very own Steven Gerrard.

But that Torres is gone, I don't want a backstabber at our club. He broke the hearts of millions of Liverpool fans when he left, and I certainly won't be one of the ones who forgives him.

RenegadeRed

And on top of all that, does anyone really think Chelsea would sell him back to us for £20,000,000? Not a chance in hell! you can double that price for any English Club interested in him! I would expect Chelsea demanding a full refund on the basis we sold them faulty goods!

I've been racking my brains as to whether or not I would want him back. Then I thought that maybe him leaving made him realise exactly how special Liverpool are, the way fans idolised him regardless of how he was playing, the way they supported their club no matter what was happening behind the scenes, the way we sang up until the very last minute of every match regardless of score or importance, who wouldn't miss that? Especially when the case is compltely opposite at chelsea. Then he has to look at the undoubted rise in morale since last year, the football we are playing, and the chances we are creating, fair enough we aren't as far up in the league as our football merits, but surely Torres could help that? All that said I would have him back, not saying it will happen, but he would be welcome by me, and if he played with the same passion for us as he first did, then i'd sing his name again aswell
Kenny2

I'm like yourself and many other fans I loved torres he was my fav player and what he did about saying he was going to a bigger club hurt,but you know what hasn't every body said stuff they didn't mean before,every person is entitled to a second chance when they have said it,you can see he regrets listening to his advisors over the move and his life in Chelsea has been hell and that has been his punishment,if and I mean a big if he did comeback he has to build bridges with everyone especially the fans but I have a feeling he's not got the bottle to do that, cheers and happy Xmas to all lfc fans including the Chelsea ED lol Pk

I will forgive him if he scores a hatrick against Man U and gets us back in Champions league I guess others will too.

New song for Torres: Fdernando Torres liverpool number 17; Maybe he could swap shirts with Carroll as song does not really work.

Can anybody think of new songs for Torres when he rejoins?

Steve068

Well wasn't it silly to "love" Torres more than stevie?

After the way so many fans treated Lucas, and now Carrol and Downing begining to find it a bit 2 faced that they expect 100% backing and loyalty from all there players?
Support and loyalty should work both ways.
RNRed

Who loved Torres more than Gerrard? I don't think any LFC fan over the age of 12 would think that!

The difference is though Torres at least was a world class player for 2 years. Carroll has been a world class failure for 1 year and downing hasnt been world class ever.

@Steve - If he does rejoin, I don't want him getting the number 9 T-shirt. I am a supporter of Carroll, and I will continue to be a supporter of him.

Torres can get the Number 10 though.

I expect the winger we buy to get either number 10 or number 4, we need a new one.

Renegadered

Renegadered I totally agree with you. If Torres does rejoin he should not get number nine shirt unless Carroll gives it up. I am not Carroll's biggest fan but we should support him until he does get back to top form.

There the ET's of the Football World!

I am not bothered either way if torres comes or not but in the lads defence about the big club remark the lad was having a go back at us reds who gave him a hard time when he left and lets be honest these things happen in football ie keegan , souness , Alonso , mascharano all examples of players who left before they should of we as supporters and as a club got on with it but we did try to get keegan back and we did allegedly try get alonso back but the biggest one of all was Kenny Dalglish he walked out on the club I no the reasons he gave but he returned to football not long after did he get stick no torres left his home land his family and friends to come to liverpool he was promised things by the owners which did not happen then Rafa gets the bullet and they bring in a no mark hodgson lets be honest reds we would of all be on our way I mean what confidence did you all have as a red's supporter the day hodgson was appointed I no what mine was and It was not jumping for joy so weather torres comes back or not lets for get the nasty bits I dont believe they were ment any way the lad is a red he proved that he as made a mistake or two but who are we to judge the lad the club made a lot of money out the deal the lad got a lot of money out the deal so both parties were happy we as reds supporters have to except these things go on in football and move on we have louis suarez lets be thankful for that hey but ask your self who would you as true Liverpool football club supporters like to see play along side suarez I bet a large percentage of you would say fernando torres !

Am I on the right page? It seems Mr Torres, our former number 9 is receiving an overwhelming level of support, whilst our current number 9 endures endless criticism. This has to be a joke. I am embarrassed. No wonder we (the supporters) are a laughing stock on other team sites.

LIVERPRES

Personally I am a fan of carroll. I just think he could learn alot from torres and could become the player we hope he can be. If torres can make our squad stronger then bring him back. I'm sure he will say sorry and when he bangs them in we all will forgive.

Agree with you.
Seems we have a lot of fairweather fans.

LiverBird

Two totally different players!

Sorry for being blunt but can't you see that Carroll will never work at anfield whilst we continue to play pass-n-move.

The main reason for him being 'successfull' at newcastle was that their strategy was built to suit his game or if you like built around him.

with us its totally different and i'm sorry to say i don't think he's got the ability to adapt to KK's way of playing, unlike bellamy, maxi, kuyt and luis who are all very mobile.

the price tag is a monkey around his neck and one he had no say in but unfortunately its effecting his game in a vicious circle kind of a way (needs to play to build confidence to score goals but as he's not playing/playing poorly, confidence is low and not scoring goals etc)

for him to be a success at anfield we'd need to change our gameplay and i just can't see that happening.

best bet would be to wish him all the best and off load for as much as poss. then use that money to buy a striker who would fit into our style of play

Team for next season:

----------------Reina-----------------
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Sinclair-Lucas-Adam-Downing
--------------Gerrard----------------
---------------Suarez----------------

Subs:

Doni

Kelly

Carra

Coates

Robinson (if not injured still)

Henderson (Important player... Love him)

Maxi (not sure if he will stay)

Bellamy

Carroll (if he fines his previous form, drop adam and put stevie in centre mid and have him and luis up front)

...................................................................

I think we should sell:

Kuyt: I know you will all hate me for it but i think its time... I love him but hes geting worse ever game.

Aurellio: nuff said.

Aquilani: eff him.

Cole: decent player never made it for us... Wish him the best...and ''MAYBE'' hazard to come in in a deal with joe. I dont see why people keep saying liverpool cant buy top players... WE ARE LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB...we can sign top players.. Weve won more champions leagues than city, united, chelsea, tottenham, asenal etc. PUT TOGETHER...

Players to join:

I think scott sinclair is a great player dont know if u will agree but he is lightening fast and has savage control, dribling and passing... He will turn out to be an england favourite...

We might sign adam johnson.. But only if he relises he is only goin to fade at city..

i think we might need another striker..
But it would have to be someome that has potential and is young and cheap(e.g. Hernandes for man u)

.......

To all of u so called ''FANS'' who want that traitor back need a slap to kop on. He is utter gash now. i think you all want him back because of andy carroll failure of finding the net weekly. So u think and say torres is sumone who can score goals for us lets sign him...awnser to that = no. Forget it... Unless he publicly apologises to us and our club properly and is really cheap(proce i mean) which wouldnt happen because torres is a spineless person...

P.s i dont never played football manager so dont even bother saying stick to football manager.

(sorry about this long post)

I LOVE LIVERPOOL

He is the past, so let's focus on the future of LFC.

If he comes back to LFC on same money as before and appologises then I will forgive him. Under the cowboys morale was low and even Reina wanted out. It was not great the way he left but come on we all make mistakes in life especially in our teens and early twenties so a little forgiveness all round would not go a miss. And as far as I am concerned a great Christmas present if he agrees to come home.

Hey Ed's

With Liverpool struggling for goals upfront and potentially (I repeat POTENTIALLY) looking for a striker in January, could you see us maybe making a move for Torres, if the rumours of Chelsea listening to offers turns out to be true?

£20Million would be great for us, +30m from Jan 2010 (excluding our purchases) {Ed001's Note - no, I can't see there being any chance of that happening. I would think we would want someone in form to score us goals, rather than someone who couldn't hit the side of a barn right now.}

Oh ed001 you took the words right out of my mouth about Andy Carroll, he couldnt hit the side of a barn either!

Steve

We bought a striker with attitude problems, training issues and an injury when we bought Carroll so why not Torres? Least torres never broke his club captains jaw.

For the record I like Andy Carroll was just using that as an example. It's no secret Gerrard wanted to leave when rafa came in and was swayed by champs league football and if we hadnt won the champs league he would have gone the following season (even says it in his book).

Hi guys/gals eds, been away from the forum for awhile whats happening ? its sounds like lots of fans are excepting the fact we are not going to be in the top four and not in the market for any decent player/players this transfer window,I for one would hate us to become one of the also rans and except our lot as a top 7/8 side that would not bode well for any future sponsors regarding ground naming rites and so on it does not make good business sence not to try and bolster the side,I see we are still persevering with henderson and seem to have given up on carroll think it should be the other way around if he(andy) was to gell it would solve all our problems and give suarez a minder from all the battering he gets every game,just my thoughts what do you guys think.(godin)

Ah, it has been a while, time to start getting into transfer mood. Eds do you see a chance of us getting a striker in January, do you think we need one? I just think suarez needs some help and carroll is not doing it. P.s. Anyone else get pissed when Suarez rolls around on the ground for hours and goes down really really really easily. He is a god on his feet so he should get off his a$$ {Ed001's Note - I do expect a forward to arrive in January.}

That's the player he is you want someone else ? Because i don't think there are any other forwards in the world that go down easily, do you?

For the people who want torres back,get real. The club is supposed to be going forward not back. All he is interested in is money. Why should we help him ressurrect his career. Let him rot at chelsea.(rdred)

Just out of interest, how did people feel when ian rush left then to return a year later. So why not torres. J {Ed001's Note - totally different situation, the board wanted the money, he made no attempt to force his way out and wasn't keen to go but was asked to leave by the board, who saw nothing but pound signs. Torres forced his way out of the club.}

What about the owen situation. He came very close to coming back. I just think there is a possibility. That's all. J {Ed001's Note - Owen asked to come back and was told where to go. He never came close.}

Why was it shown him meeting with rafa to discuss the transfer. It was all in the news and lots of people thought it would happen. Thanks for the chat. J {Ed001's Note - lots of people thought it would happen because his agent was trying to get him a move to us, but Rafa would never have taken him back after the way he left. But his agent was desperately trying to get the most money he could (after all money is Owen's motivation), so he had to make it look like clubs were interested.}

I dont have any strong opinions on this , but if all he was interested in was money , wouldnt he just stay at chelsea?

What if torres apoligized to the supporters took a wage cause he wanted to play for liverpool
Would that do enough for us to forgive him i honestly dont know how the club could take him back

When is the new home liverpool kit coming out Ed? Didn't they used to have a new kit come out every 6 month. One in the summer around about July and one in December or January. I remember this because my birthday is in late July and I used to get them around Christmas time too. Am I remembering wrong? Will they have this same kit for the remaining games of the season?

Thanks, KickingBro {Ed001's Note - kits never change mid-season, they are normally changed during pre-season friendlies mate.}

Me thinks if were beating teams by 2/3 goals, we wouldn't be having this discussion about Chelsea's No.9.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

All rubbish IMO

You're right Blair, but if we were beating teams 2-3 goals then we wouldnt be discussing RW CM or STK. We would all just be satisfied that everything is working.

Sell Carroll for 15 mil and buy Torres for 15-20 mil. And we have made 10 million.

Why does everybody want to get rid of Carroll?
With the time he will be world class..

Ha, lol world class,Andy Carroll. maybe good but never world class, he has to reach that height yet right now he is nothing more then a championship player.RedTurk

Look who is back.the one and only carroll basher. Get a life. Change the record your a discrace please go somewhere else and give your cr.p to another team. Your lie must be a bundle of joy. J

You fans that want Flopandro torres back make me sick. He left us in the last hour of the transfer window a club that gave him the platform for greatness. What thanks did we get none all he cares about is money and i hope he never scores a goal again

Apparently transfer request was a week before...

Reina wanted to go , but we still support him, red mick tag

Gerrard wanted to go twice, says it in his book that between Houllier leaving and Benitez starting he wanted to leave and he also handed in a transfer request weeks after winning champs league!

for all us fans who would like fernando to come home we need our voice heard im not all up to scratch with creating web pages or watever may be needed but if there is someone out there who is why not give it a go i know some fans will disagree but that wont last if he starts banging them in personally i think he'd come back with a hunger for success and a great attitude and slot straight in..so if anybody out there can create something it would be great it might not work out in the end but at least our voice will be heard and that the majority of fans would welcome him back..come home fernando!..JG.. {Ed001's Note - so, he shafts the club big style, then makes derogatory statements about it and you still want him back? The club is bigger than any player, especially one whose legs have gone.}

If your going to do that, would you not be better asking a player to come back who has integrity, a player with class, a player who loves the club, a player who would probably play for us for nothing and still one of the best players on the planet.

Xabi Alonso......

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ed this wasnt a last minute thing with him he wanted to go in the summer and was more or less forced to stay on promises of changes new players etc who would have helped us challenge for better success and had to work wit roy hodgson c`mon the damage was done and not to mention the two cowboys who ran this club into the ground! like all fans at the time i wasnt impressed when he left but i could understand his reasons we were heading nowhere fast maybe im just the forgiving type would you not have him back at his goal scoring best? and if not why? at the end of the day i wouldnt swap suarez for two fernando torres but he can be lethal in front of goal when on form i just think he regrets leaving from the off and that is why he hasnt settled in and not on form as i sed i could see him slotting straight back into life at liverpool and being comfortable,happy and hungry to succeed..i for one would hav him back and thats my opinion others may disagree but i bet u the majority of fans would take him back..JG.. {Ed001's Note - erm, have you forgotten he left after Dalglish took charge? The cowboys you are referring to had also long gone. Stop making excuses for him. He did exactly the same to Atletico, he is not needed, nor should he be wanted. Torres deserves nothing but contempt for his acts.}

No i havnt forgot wen he left thats why i sed 'damage was done' tell me this what players were brought in summer 11 and jan 11 that could indicate that we were moving in the right direction? BEFORE he left or made up his mind whatever way you want to put it? i didnt post originally for a debate on the subject i simply asked if anybody would be interested in making the majority of fans voices heard that`s all and blair if the truth be known the rafa argument gave xabi the perfect alibi to do the exact same thing and go when we were going nowhere and as i sed at the time i could understand why our 'star players' were leaving we were doomed only for fsg/nesv coming in..so again if anybody like me would like torres back let our voice be heard..goodnight ed drown that frown x..blair your not getting a kiss..JG.. {Ed001's Note - Torres knew Suarez was coming in anyway, he left after Suarez had signed.}

He doesn't deserve to play for Liverpool end of story regardless of how good he is/ was or might be again . he couldn't even score for Spain in the world cup with the best midfielders inthe world ( arguably) and he's worse now than he was then! Uruseb

Suarez coming was a done deal before he left so he must have known about that and how good he is surely. I loved him while he was here but he left for the money and slated the club. Disruptive on the training ground and in the dressing room too due to his attitude. Move on and forget him.....bit like the ex wife really.....

Liverpool to bid fulhams dembele £11.5m in the 3rd week of jan
also 2.8m for winger mat phillips of blackpool. Loaning flannagen to them. Also Heard of a striker but not confirmed yet.

Sure I would have dembele. good player I think. But phillips is not good enough. no end product like aaron lennon.

Danny

Dembele would be a great player, but he's not a natural finisher and thats what we need

Why the 3rd week of january, why not the first week?

No one knows Torres better than Liverpool fans, so click believable if you think we'll get him back in Januray. Click unbelievable if you think it's nonsense. Personally I'd love to see the lad back @ Anfield.

I'm hoping so. Great player. But i don't think he will. He upset to many people. including the players. remember agger elbowing him in the face during the match? I don't think that will be forgiven.

Danny

20 million for torres!.If i was Kenny I would be calling Mr Henry and asking if there are funds available for him.There is no doubt he has the ability as we know.Kenny could transform him i'm sure of it and re build his confidence.Him and suarez up front would be frightening. Carroll,Bellamy and kuyt as back up and what a great strike force.People may say we need a number of different players but the payer we really need is a natural goalscorer that is torres.I'm not saying it will happen but I would be willing to forgive him for sure.

Danny
