4 goals, 3pts, 2 goal of the month contenders, what a way to start the season, life under klopp is far from boring, and still sturridge to come.

We Must keep Coutinho. He's been the Best player in the league this weekend by a mile.
Destroying the Arsenal midfield on his own at times.

14 Aug 2016 22:09:42
It looks like he has decided to stay. Ecstatic about that. I didn't want him here if that was against his will, but it is patently obvious that is not the case and keeping him here will be a massive boost!

Laughable that some people were saying he wouldn't get in PSG's team. He would've been their best player hands down.

14 Aug 2016 22:42:07
Just really hoping he isn't injured and it was just a bad cramp.

14 Aug 2016 23:10:52
Laughable that you think he "decided" to stay? was it that Barcelona didn't come calling?

14 Aug 2016 23:39:19
If he wanted out, he could've forced his way out. That is what agents are for. You honestly think he couldn't spike interest from Barca, Juventus, Bayern, PSG with a bit of leg pulling from an agent? All teams looking for players in his ilk.

He is here because unlike Suarez and Sterling before him, he has opted not to "play the game" so to speak. He could've gone to almost any team on the planet if he wanted to be difficult and force it. So rather than criticise him, and pretend he wouldn't have had options, can't we just praise one of our best players and appreciate he has decided not to kick up a fuss to force a move?

No pleasing some. You just have to take pops at our players. Even those who have done nothing wrong. We know he is good enough for them teams, which is why people get so emotional at the thought of him leaving and start crying about it.

15 Aug 2016 00:55:14
Forced his way out to where exactly, MK? If there are no offers on the table, there's nothing an agent can do for you. Ed already said that PSG were interested but that he wasn't their first nor second choice which is true as they signed Ben Arfa instead and no bids were ever made for him hence, he stayed and I'm happy he did as he's shown that he's our best player and you don't sell your best players without a fight. Unlike Coutinho, there were firm bids for Suarez and Sterling so we sold them on our own terms. I doubt we would have sold Coutinho anyway even if a bid came for him.

15 Aug 2016 01:06:59
Couldn't agree more MK.

Excellent post.

15 Aug 2016 01:36:34
Coutinho would walk into every team on the planet bar Barca. Be grateful he plays for us guys. Stop complaining about anything whenever u feel like it.

15 Aug 2016 08:17:36
MK you on the lash lad? Who's place would he take at Barca? Don't mistake no one wanting to buy him with loyalty! Sterling an Suarez forced there way out because they was wanted not because there agent convinced city an Barcelona that they needed them. We all want the best players an for them to want us. Today tho someone points out that couts was below par until his goal he wasn't knocking him. You have turned a simple comment into player / poster bashing. When really there was nothing to argue about it was a truthful observation not malicious. Thought lallana was crap didn't see you jump to his defence? Why not defend Moreno?

15 Aug 2016 08:52:11
@scouseJohn Countiho is a far better player than Andre Gomes in midfield who Barcelona just paid big bucks for.

He is also better than Di Maria and Lucas at PSG.

But please all do continue to moan at our players (even when they're playing well and there is nothing to moan about) after all like Ed002 says, it is becoming the Liverpool way.

15 Aug 2016 10:17:37
Who moaned at our players puzzle? Original post was couts crap until he scored. Was he wrong? My only problem with couts is I know if Barcelona come calling his cases are already packed. That was my reply. You don't know what type of fan I am so don't judge me! Quoting the eds haha haven't you got your own opinion?

14 Aug 2016 21:06:27
Petr Cech crashed his car into a pillar in the Emirates parking garage after the game (thankfully he walked out unhurt and okay) . New definition of having a really bad day - letting in 4 goals to LFC and writing off the car!

Believable10 Unbelievable5

14 Aug 2016 21:21:08
Glad he was unhurt! Poor bloke has had enough life threatening injuries already!

14 Aug 2016 21:58:57
Yes, definitely.

14 Aug 2016 20:31:00
well what a game, I wouldn't know where to start but I'll try. thought we looked very flat and dare I say a bit short of confidence for first 35 mins or so. dare I say it looked similar to the how we was playing before Rodgers was sacked. we perked up a bit for last 10 mins of the half and I must say got a 'get out of jail card' from couts, a truly sublime free kick that got us into half time with a very undeserved 1-1 score line.
second half (well the first 20 mins of it anyway) was completely different class. arsenal may hav had a weakened team but the level of our attacking play in that period was truly sublime. no defence would hav coped I don't think. this is only the first game and don't want to get carried away but when you see manes pace coutinhos class ooze through its bloody hard not to! yeah I know we had some worrying times in the game and I don't really wanna bash any players after a win but I'm pretty sure we all could see the weakness of the team. but my post ain't about digging players out. WE WON at the Emirates for only the second time. well done lads u made a lot of people happy today. we'll come back premier league oh how I've missed you!

Just curious as to if Harry has given his views on the game I can't seem to locate it if he has. Also well done the boys but let's get defence sorted asap.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

14 Aug 2016 20:41:45
You're waiting on. Harry's viewpoint? Eds can we still save this man? πŸ˜‚

Only joking negative. Though I do find it interesting to say the least lol.

14 Aug 2016 21:04:50
To be fair, I like hearing what Harry has to say.

He seems to just say it as he sees it. No sugar coating, no beating around the bush etc. And he doesn't change his opinion to appease the masses.

I rarely agree with him, but it Is great to have diversity in opinion and Harry is direct in his criticism without being overly abusive.

14 Aug 2016 21:13:27
I think I remember reading something about a 'lack of a DM' and 'signing Kovacic'?
πŸ˜‰.

14 Aug 2016 23:55:55
Hello Negative.
Great start to the season and a win is always a win no matter what. Except Henderson playing deeper we were good. Nothing to say for Moreno. Coutinho ran the show and he outplayed Coquelin completely in the second half.

Klavan looked great today and should start alongside Sakho very soon. I bloody love Firmino ( massive fan of his supreme quality ) his touch and vision is top class.
Scored 4 against Arsenal without plying a striker says a lot.

Drop Lallana and play Can in the middle, We ll look more balanced.

Thanks mate.

15 Aug 2016 20:15:38
Good read Harry keep up the good work. Hope to see plenty more posts.

14 Aug 2016 20:03:20
Many of us are going on about moreno and left back but on a really positive note how good were mane and coutinho?
Mane scored a brilliant goal and looked soo comfortable. Coutinho was top class. Sturridge to return aswell plus firminho. We have numerous outstanding players going forward, truly top class attacking players. Origi and ings quailty players who will also push hard for starting places
I watched united today who are the favourites for the title. going fforward we're absolute streets ahead of them especially when they play rooney.
Great start to the season, long may it continue.

Also the 2rd . What a ball from GW to pick lallana out and we have been calling him he need to score more goals maybe that's his postion.

14 Aug 2016 19:33:04
What a rollercoaster, in parts amazing, and others frustrating
We really have to sort of the LB position, in all for getting behind your players but how many chances must Moreno be given, the boy just won't learn.

Believable7 Unbelievable6

14 Aug 2016 19:43:21
I thought he really improved second half. Credit when due.

14 Aug 2016 20:18:28
he is a liability that is dragging the team down, why klopp has not got rid I will never no, we would be better off not playing a left back at all, he should be thanking mignolet for getting him out of jail.

14 Aug 2016 23:53:37
It was obvious in the second half he'd been told to hold his position in the back 4 and stop going forward and to be fair he did just that and Walcott didn't get a kick. First half though I don't know what he was doing he didn't put a foot right. Fair play to the lad for turning it round in the second half though.

15 Aug 2016 01:03:59
Improved? That must be a flipping joke. We will not survive the next game with Moreno as the left back. The guy is so awful it is fascinating to watch. I would like to know what goes on in his head when he's playing because if Carra had been in defence, Moreno would no longer be at the club because Carra would have ripped him a new one right there on the pitch. We need a new left back. I don't care who we get. Might as well put in the new kid we signed from Barca. He can't be any worse than the very worst left back I've ever seen in all my thirty plus years of watching football.

14 Aug 2016 19:23:16
Mane! Blimey. Don't wanna jinx anything but he could be (ssshhh) our next ******πŸ˜€πŸ» Deary old me. Great wine enjoy all.

14 Aug 2016 19:15:07
Ed 1, when you get a chance. Moreno- not completely at fault for the first goal, someone else lost the ball and presumably Alberto was already on the charge? Question is, surely after nearly a year Klopp must know if he can either fix Moreno or needs to replace him? Do you see any hint in Moreno of someone who can be developed as at this stage I can't help thinking Jurgen must see some potential that can be drawn out over time, possibly in tandem with another (hence the Chilwell etc chase) .

Elsewhere I still think we've got a bit of a soft middle and don't protect the back four well enough but, going forward, things could get tasty!

Believable1 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - he is gone, Milner will be the short term replacement, long term we are still trying to find the right player.}

14 Aug 2016 19:42:40
Still chasing Amavi Eds?

{Ed001's Note - define chasing?}

14 Aug 2016 19:54:19
Running after in pursuit, usually hoping to catch.

{Ed001's Note - nope then, no one is running after him sorry.}

14 Aug 2016 19:57:18
Sorry Ed, just saw your reply re:Amavi from 5/ 8 and more recent posts on Milner and the LB position.

14 Aug 2016 19:57:55
Is he to silly to know this as he was slapping klopp on the back side during an embrace, while they were celebrating.

14 Aug 2016 19:58:05
After the game.

14 Aug 2016 19:04:21
Hi Ed001,

Possible for a review of todays game?

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - how can you review that? Awful first half, no one was in sync at all, Moreno was utterly awful in particular, though Clyne was poor too, given the freedom of the right side of the pitch and wasting time and time again. Then Moreno decided to do his usual moronic lunge, gave away a pen which Mignolet saved comfortably, then Moreno decided to do his usual charge up field and get caught out of position for them to score. At that point we looked like we were going to fold, we were terrible. Thankfully Couts stepped up and scored a peach of a free kick to end the half.

Second half was totally different, we were fired up and overwhelmed them completely, tearing them apart with pace and skill, even a great ball in by Clyne, everyone getting involved, as we coasted into a 4-1 lead. Unfortunately we then tried to sit on that lead and let them back in. They always look better with Cazorla in the side anyway, and we were not attacking them with the same verve, so nearly threw it away.

Positives were the desire and effort we showed, with Coutinho being outstanding, Henderson doing well breaking up play, despite being overrun at times by sheer weight of numbers in their attack and Mane. Mane looked a perfect fit for Klopp's system today. Klavan was solid as well.

Negatives were undoubtedly Moreno. Really it is difficult to pick out any thing else, as he was just so bad it overshadowed the rest.}

14 Aug 2016 19:27:53
Cheers Ed.

14 Aug 2016 19:35:05
Edd001 I was definitely against signing klavan in that it was another centre back we didn't need Imo but he looks very solid and composed. Looking a great buy.

14 Aug 2016 20:13:22
Moreno charging up the field for the first goal do you think he's going to early (to join the counter) in general? He's out of position often, do you put that down to us losing the ball too often on the counter or him be way too advanced. I don't think he's a the smartest but I think putting Lallana on his side will give home some protection.

{Ed001's Note - he should learn to hold his run until we have good possession.}

14 Aug 2016 22:38:58
He is so tactically inept it is unbelievable. Why can't he realise that it's 1st job not to concede and that he should be joining attacks late as an overlap to cause real problems on the counter. Just being up the pitch doesn't necessarily pose a threat, especially when your passing and crossing is as dreadful as his as well.

15 Aug 2016 05:05:44
But Ed, don't you think Moreno charging was tactical? As soon as we get possession in midfield, our fullbacks charge quickly to provide much needed width.
But apart from that, Moreno certainly had a howler. Awful display.

- Krishna.

{Ed001's Note - partially but he needs to learn when to do it.}

14 Aug 2016 18:49:14
Klavan nor lovren where at fault for any of the goals today. Moreno was out of position for there first but I do feel that the overall balance of the team is just a little bit off not a lot, just a tweak and I do believe it isn't far away.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

14 Aug 2016 19:21:03
Bod I agree. I'm not sure of Wijnaldum in CM and we'll we all know we need a LB then team's sorted. I agree we're not far at all. We've won a good game between two sides with real chance of top four at a time when we're still going to be rusty and not at full tilt. That's why I couldn't understand all the negativity throughout the live chat when I looked in. You would think it was half way through the season and fighting relegation, only Ron was being positive. I know I can come across a little negative sometimes but on match day I'm shouting for us come kick off. Can we not save the negativity for later guys? Yes there's problems still we all know that, not all issues may be resolved this window but come kick off can we not hurl support rather than negativity?

14 Aug 2016 20:34:57
Wijnaldum done better than lallana?

14 Aug 2016 22:52:28
thought arsenal had three players just offside from that free kick, and we were very poor conceding the goal from Ox, and Lovren, who is the most improved player we have, should have blocked his shot, but a great three points, first game away to the gunners, just need that left back, and we will do really well this season .

14 Aug 2016 18:48:37
For me Ragnar was the one player in the back 5 to show composure. What a signing he could prove to be. Shows how experience gives you that bit of calmness about your game. He just showed how erratic the other 4 were. Nice and relaxed. First centre half for me on that showing.

15 Aug 2016 11:39:44

Got the win whilst proving once again that Moreno can't defend - won't happen every week, teams will exploit that. He needs replacing before end of the window.

14 Aug 2016 18:29:10
My personal overview of that game, a ridiculous one!
The front three looked dangerous, coutinho with bits of magic, the free kick perfection, the flick for wijnaldum the same.
I like lallana in midfield, and it makes the wijnaldum signing make a little more sense. It's like 1 holding and 1 either side, being prodominatly attacking but with the work rate to close. For a Debut wijnaldum did well I thought, in a new role. Missing a little, but created one and made a good chance for firmino. Firmino was excellent today, held onto the ball so well, looked strong and confident. Mane showed his quality, what a finish and the pace strength and composure shown was excellent. Klavan looked our best defender today, strong and quick. Lovren was okay, got pulled around a bit, but did most well. I don't really want to mention Moreno, but how can I not! The penalty was ridiculous, and then once you got away with it, don't bother marking! Can't wait for Milner to be fit haha!
Mignolet did better from crosses too, and of course saved the pen, can't blame him for anything today in my eyes, still can't wait for Karius to be back though.
This game has shown how electrifying we can be, but how fragile too. The games where the opposition sit back, we will need an out and out striker, so will sacrifice a midfielder. Hopefully, someone can hold us together in the middle, hendo or Stewart for me, and give the back four a little protection.
A win on the first day, you can't complain, especially away to Arsenal, weakened or not, we still had to beat them. The confidence the front three will get is good.
On a side note, if we play one up top, firmino in big games and origi or Sturridge in games where we have possession I think works. Hard to see how Ings will get minutes though, even if we have 2 a week, Sturridge and origi deserve the chance first in my opinion.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

14 Aug 2016 18:28:17
Never in doubt ;)

Well done lads, some fantastic goals but also need to tighten the Defence.

Coutinho, Mane were fantastic but also thought Hendo was immense in midfield. Good to have him back and fit.

14 Aug 2016 18:24:06
Ed 001 what was your opinion on Wijnaldum today? Felt he looked a bit out of depth and anonymous in the first half l, however, he knitted the quick succession of goals we scored at the beginning of the second half really impressively. What do you think mate? Cheers in advance!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he was terrible in the first half, but he was struggling to figure out the runs the other players are making and where he should be on the pitch. Second half he got involved in the goals, but still struggled to figure out his place on the pitch and positioning in defensive areas. He needs time to settle in first though, before it is possible to judge him. It was not like he was just walking into a role he has played many times, it was a new set up and role and the whole team were struggling to figure it out as well.}

14 Aug 2016 18:35:13
ED001.
I know some of us have spent a lot of time slagging off Moreno and his defending. My question is do you think this would start affecting the other players. If they keep expecting him to make a mistake, then they might start focusing more on bailing him out, instead of focusing on their roles.

{Ed001's Note - he will not be in the team when Milner is fit.}

14 Aug 2016 19:21:38
Edd001 sweet lord man die you watch moreno today? I couldn't get over what I was seeing.

{Ed001's Note - it is only what he always does.}

14 Aug 2016 18:22:04
Please please EDs, tell me we might still buy a left back before the transfer window closes. I thought Moreno was shocking again today. He really is a weak link in the side. Surely Mr Klopp won't leave this unaddressed.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

14 Aug 2016 18:21:26
Can't see how the defence will shape, could it be thatkevin Stewart is the key?
But what a second half from the forewards, well done to all he lads.

Fantastic win away from home against a top 4 team. In the 2nd half we were outstanding going forward, Mane was tremendous today. I was against the signing but I'll hold my hand up and say he's already proving me wrong. Defensively we were awful for all three goals conceded, still need to improve. YNWA.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

14 Aug 2016 18:24:49
Not going to get down about defensive mistakes today.
We know we have weaknesses, Arsenal are consistently strong at attacking.
We beat them, away from home, for the second time in 21 games.

Massive shout out to Kloppo for masterminding that comeback, scoring 4 at the Emirates is a great achievement. There's lots of goals in our team, get used to matches like this.
Keep believing 😎.

14 Aug 2016 18:50:01
Agree with you Ron, I'm delighted with the result.

14 Aug 2016 19:26:11
I'd love to see and hear Klopp's half time talks. Probably 2-3 times the intensity level and 2-3 times the decibel level of what we see from him on the sidelines. They seem to work, though.

14 Aug 2016 18:05:44
I thought Matip was going to be the buy that was going to fix the defense. Instead it's turned out to be Klavan. Sure, we let 3 goals in, but none came from his side and the man did not let one ball pass him buy all game long (that first goal was courtesy of Moreno going on a walkabout again) . What a magician in Coutinho. What a speedfreak/ dribbler/ finisher in Mane. And what a tireless worker in Firmino. And if Lallana starts scoring too, then it's going to be a special season. A little befuddled about Wijnaldum starting, but I have faith in Klopp and the plan will reveal itself later in the games to come. Interesting times ahead.

14 Aug 2016 18:16:48

14 Aug 2016 18:18:15
Hardly a gift mate. Seen them saved more often than not! HoweverπŸ‘ŒπŸ™„πŸ»πŸ˜€ enjoy.

14 Aug 2016 18:05:14
What a great game. Not the 5-1 to us that I was hoping for in the event the game opened up! But I'll take it! Haha.

This attack is unbelievable. I do worry about Moreno in particular though. Diabolical performance today.

Just wanted to add as well, Xhaka is a disgraceful footballer. If we were ever interested, I'm glad it never materialised. Came on for 20 minutes and did nothing but kick people and get himself booked. Β£30m well spent Wenger. He will get sent off at least twice this season if he behaves like that. Although so will Moreno as I can't see his lunges being brushed under the carpet for much longer. He is going to break a leg if it doesn't stop.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

14 Aug 2016 18:19:38
A little unfair on Xhaka - i'm sure he was desperate to impress on his pro debut and nothing he did was as bad as Morenos kamikaze lunges.

14 Aug 2016 18:31:06
His pro debut? He is famed for being quite fiery to be fair.

14 Aug 2016 18:36:57
Annie, trust me when I say that this was not out of character for Xhaka! He is a thug. It is a shame because he is actually a good footballer when he isn't trying to hurt people.

I agree though, Moreno is at least as bad. It is actually embarrassing to have such a reckless player in our team. As I said, he will cause someone a serious injury one day.

Don't want to get too much into a debate on this though. Aside from those 2 players, today was an exceedingly good game of football. It actually epitomised everything good about the Premier League. What a rush!

14 Aug 2016 19:13:16
Xhaka reminds me a lot of Nigel de Jong. De Jong has footballing skills (raised in the Ajax school) but always uses rough thuggish means to stop players. Probably has to do with the instructions he's been given or the role he's to play. What surprises me is what a player like Xhaka is doing in a team like Arsenal? Just seems very un-Arsenal like, to me.

14 Aug 2016 17:58:18
I'm sure the boo boys will be out in force with "we won't keep getting away with that". It's true, but an entertaining 3 points away at Arsenal, on the first day of the season.

Let's keep is positive lads?

Believable8 Unbelievable2

14 Aug 2016 18:06:39
3 points at arsenal. It's like dropping food on the ground. Tastes just as good as it would've before :) .

Mignolet and Moreno 😡😡. got to say, not many keepers seem to stop penalties better than Migs though.

14 Aug 2016 18:07:04
In the end, it's all about scoring more goals than the opposition. We did it, 3 points on the board, and onward we go!

14 Aug 2016 18:08:11
Both positives and negatives in the game. However most of the negatives can be done away with getting a lb. But the way we scored those goals was terrific. Upwards really. It seems us lot sure are going to be entertained this season.

14 Aug 2016 18:09:08
Rather watch that than a 1-0 win. I'm actually glad Arsenal got that first goal. It kicked the nervy game into life and made for an absolute classic. Not even Moreno can ruin today haha! I started celebrating with my dog! Poor thing is still confused.

Can somebody please let me know a good reliable site to stream the game on an android tablet?

Thanks.

Thanks ed. Am struggling with that one. Any others please?

{Ed002's Note - That is the only one I have seen mentioned Mokey.}

14 Aug 2016 16:21:18
Hey mikey,
I live in Hungary. there's a new sports channel which launched yesterday called Spiler Tv. That is the one you're looking for.
Cheers.

14 Aug 2016 16:22:07
And if you can't find it try firstrowsports for streaming.

14 Aug 2016 16:31:06
Download Modbro.

14 Aug 2016 16:37:28
Thanks mate. At the in laws and not sure if they have that chanel. Will look.

14 Aug 2016 16:41:25

14 Aug 2016 17:00:19
Thanks reds. It is a murky world with live stream. Good tips.

14 Aug 2016 15:06:40
Looks like we've gone for legs then, no can is interesting, thought he'd had the power advantage over elneny and coquelin, mustnt be 100%. Away from home especially, I'd like to have seen origi up top.

I did say the other day that I was concerned for Can. Ultimately, all of our midfielders tend to play as box to box midfielders in Klopps system. Yet Can doesn't offer much cover for the defence, nor does he do enough going forward. Lallana, Henderson and Wijnaldum will all cover just as much ground as Can in the midfield and protect the backline to the same standard, whilst also posing a genuine threat going forward.

Can needs to add something special to his game. You cannot survive by simply being strong and skillful. He either needs to cover the defense brilliantly, or start being more involved in goals at the other end. Henderson is a proven threat. Ignoring last season he is always scoring/ creating at least 10 goals a season. Lallana and Wijnaldum also hit those figures, whilst running just as hard as Can, and that to me is why they will start ahead of him in a lot of games. Emre has to add something to his game. I am not Klopp so I won't say what that is exactly. But it is clear that despite looking good, he is usually anonymous. Especially when he doesn't have Henderson talking him through the game.

14 Aug 2016 16:45:56
its because he has not done enough pre-season having got back late from the euro's, i'm sure if he had enough pre-season games he would have started, MK you might not think he is that good but i do i would have loved to read your thoughts on stevie nicholl or rob jones, as they never got the credit they deserved they were quiet but very effective in what they done.

14 Aug 2016 17:05:47
I really like Can mate. Think he is a great young midfielder. I just don't exaggerate how good a player is based on the fact he plays for Liverpool.

Can has potential, but he needs to use his abilities better. He is a physical monster, yet he uses his strength in the wrong ways getting himself booked. He has a brilliant passing range, but he tries to hit the Hollywood ball at times when a simple pass could open up the opposition. He has a really powerful shot, yet instead of going for accuracy, he tries for too much power and it translates to a poor finish.

I'm not suggesting he is not good enough, just saying that he needs to add an extra dimension to his game. When fit, he may well come back in to the side. But if he doesn't improve I can still see him getting dropped again.

I'm not really old enough to have seen either player live lol.

I've not seen a lot of Rob Jones. Lfctv didn't really show many classic games from that era. Not surprising seeing as we won relatively nothing. I've seen a lot of the big cup finals Nicol was involved in though, and I would kill to have 2 of him now, one for each side of the defence. He was unbelievable.

14 Aug 2016 18:15:44
well said MK i thought you was giving him down the banks, all the bad points you make will get better with game time and experience, i thought he played well for germany, i think the lads got a great future and the fact he can play at left back but klopp does not play him there befuggles me, moreno should be dropped but what do i know maybe klopp is telling him to get forward as much as he can.

I know you dislike questions about clauses ed, but is there one is smiths contract?
Wasn't he academy player of the year, I still find it strange he's actually gone.

Believable2 Unbelievable10

{Ed002's Note - There was a buy back option agreed for both Ibe and Smith.}

14 Aug 2016 15:07:09
Thanks ed.

14 Aug 2016 13:38:42
I really feel Mane will give us that dynamism up top. Lightening quick and a nightmare for defenders. Our strikers could benefit greatly from him.

Believable5 Unbelievable11

14 Aug 2016 14:06:21
Some of our best games came with firmino as false 9, but we lacked pace. Mane will provide that with forward running without and with the ball.
Can't help but think origi offers something more physical agaisnt a weakened Arsenal back line, I'm hoping he starts.

14 Aug 2016 14:24:17
My thoughts exactly.

14 Aug 2016 15:17:17
Origi on the bench I think firmino will be the stand out player today.

14 Aug 2016 15:51:14
For me origi is our best player through the middle at the moment.
Would swap him for lallana and put coutinho in midfield and push firmino out wide.

14 Aug 2016 13:05:56
Well I've got my money on 3-0 anyway! Going mane origi and firmino in the first hour and then just casually pass it around for the last half hour. Top of the league here we come!

Believable5 Unbelievable15

14 Aug 2016 13:16:01
Well those are the 3 in my fantasy league team so hope you are right. Good luck to everyone and enjoy the game.

14 Aug 2016 13:24:00
Hope you're right mate.

14 Aug 2016 13:28:35
So the 15 mins before and after half time?

14 Aug 2016 13:54:21
Didn't have enough to squeeze in firmino into mine! I'm just buzzing for the game now hoping Jordan ibe will do us a favour here! Enjoy the game reds!

14 Aug 2016 13:03:25
No Danny Ings in the squad today, he is with the u23s. Trent Alexander-Arnold is not with the u23s will he be on the bench for the first team i wonder?

Believable2 Unbelievable13

14 Aug 2016 13:13:54
I would not read anything in Ings in u23s he is just geting his fitness . I'm I right ed.

14 Aug 2016 13:27:18
Didn't I read somewhere that Ings was still a bit short of match fitness?

14 Aug 2016 14:13:08
Hope ings plays a role for us this year. He's harder working and better at pressing than firminio.

14 Aug 2016 12:38:23
Think our team will have last season look to it to much change isn't good.

Believable2 Unbelievable15

14 Aug 2016 12:13:49
If the Arse are playing Chambers and Holding as Centre half, then a high intensity first 20 mins and an early goal and they'll fold.

I can see a pasting. YNWA.

14 Aug 2016 11:42:30
Game faces today lads not the moaning and groaning. I think we going to get a result today and have the other teams stand up and watch that we could possibly be contenders . our best performances last season where away your city and Chelsea games springs to mind and we should have won here last season. klopp turning doubters to believers since he turned up!

Believable9 Unbelievable11

14 Aug 2016 12:17:06
That's it mate we was best away because good teams actually try and beat you, we was great at the counter/ high press stealing the ball and scoring but struggled when teams parked the bus. Hopefully signing mane we have have the little bit extra required to break the bus down.

14 Aug 2016 12:27:35
I'll go 2-2, or a 3-2 though to which side I wouldn't like to say. Both teams are vulnerable at the back. Liverpool's centre defence needs some pace for me.

14 Aug 2016 12:46:56
Don think the centre of our defence is the issue. Defenders don't need to be quick. Enough pace to cover in behind, and enough pace to recover is always a help. Some of the best centre backs In the world are slow though. Hyypia would lose a race to a tortoise. Still arguably the best centre back we've had in the last 20 years.

I do agree with you that both teams are shoddy at the back. But our weakness is in the full back positions and in goal. Arsenal's weaknesses are the centre back position and the left back position. Cech and Bellerin are class players though.

I think it is more likely to be a boring stand off where neither team wants to commit men forward. Maybe a 0-0 or a late 1-0 win either way. However, if either team gets an early goal I can see it opening up and being full of goals though; more like a 5 or 6 goal game.

Hoping for the latter, in our favour. Maybe another 5-1 win. It's been a couple of years! Haha.

14 Aug 2016 13:03:51
If Liverpool play to a similar template to 2013/ 14, with central defenders dropping deeper and hitting at pace on the counter, I'd partly agree with you. Though even then we were letting goals in all over the shop.
But you need a deep lying playmaker and Grujic is out today, I think.
Can, I don't think that position suits him at this point in his career.

If it's a higher press, the back line has to push up a bit more and that's where the lack of pace centrally can hurt us. I had high hopes for Gomez after his cameo last year, and hope him and / or Matip can be the answer.

That's my tuppence anyway.

14 Aug 2016 13:11:56
I know moreno is a bit of a weakness but every team has weak spots. arsenal are there for the taking today no recognised centre backs no ozil that makes them tick no giroud who always seem to score against us all we need is for migs to recognise that his spot is up for grabs and needs to push himself. we just need to be ruthless and not get disheartened when what where not doing isn't coming off because our fitness should be head and shoulders above most squads.

14 Aug 2016 14:56:39
There has to be goals in this game .

14 Aug 2016 10:51:16
Reds,

Today is a great chance for us but i tHink i heard we have only won once in the last 20 games away to Arsenal.

Whatever happens, win lose or draw its only one game in to the season. We won't win or lose the league today so let's just get behind the team.

I think we can win today but if we do lose please let's not spew the hate. let's show we can be the best supporters in the land and try to get our diminishing reputation back!

14 Aug 2016 11:24:49
I am well positive for the whole season, for me I think our firepower is amazing.

14 Aug 2016 11:35:55
We all know and use YNWA.
Let's make mean something. Win lose or draw.

14 Aug 2016 10:46:18
Eds,

Hopefully a quick answer for you. At what point in a transfer would a club ask for a work permit? Would it be at the beginning or is this something the scouts would get involved with when researching the player?

Have a good day and roll on the mighty reds!

Regards

Crooky.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing whatsoever to do with scouts. The rules are well defined and the club should be able to tell themselves (broadly), else they can pay a fee and enquire.}

14 Aug 2016 12:20:16
They would apply at the point where the player in question was eligible for one, otherwise its a waste of fees.

{Ed002's Note - Nonsense.}

14 Aug 2016 13:06:23
Thank you Ed002 for educating me, it confuses me why 'people in charge' would pay a fee without checking it all out first. If the rules are so well defined, all clubs should know the ins and outs of everything, broadly shouldn't come into it. In house lawyer should know it all or get better one.

{Ed002's Note - It is not a matter for a lawyer - the requirements are clearly defined and a club can go and argue a case where the player is not eligible - as Liverpool have done recently.}

14 Aug 2016 13:31:01
And I thought I was stupid. I wouldn't apply for a fishing license if I wasn't eligible. It gets worse.

{Ed002's Note - I don't think you really grasp this.}

14 Aug 2016 18:55:18
I don't Ed, I'm just happy someones got a job working it all out or making it all up and I don't have to. I just enjoy, especially when we win and I haven't needed to call an ambulance.

14 Aug 2016 10:05:03
Eds do you no if ....

Believable2 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - You need to stop posting nonsense questions like this - it is not what the site is for. You waste a great deal of our time and it needs to end. Take this as a final warning.}

14 Aug 2016 12:21:40
Ed002 can I be an ed and let them waste my time so you can get on with more important things?

14 Aug 2016 09:37:06
Like Klopp said when he came in first. We need to become believers from doubters and that's exactly the note I would like to start the season with.

Lets be believers and fully back the manager and the team regardless of winning or loosing today.

Side note with arsenal having all three of there senior CBs not available this would be the best chance to beat them.

Believable9 Unbelievable6

14 Aug 2016 10:02:40
We're going to win 4.0.

14 Aug 2016 10:07:32
after a transfer window can't see how we start the season with Simon Mignolet and Alberto Moreno in the team hope they don't let us down today. ynwa.

{Ed002's Note - You make sure you let them know how much you want them out of the club. Get down and daub some abuse on the new stand is always a good start.}

14 Aug 2016 10:22:04
There a Liverpool player I don't care if you don't like them . Ynwa stands for something .

14 Aug 2016 10:40:29
As long as moreno has the red shirt on his back he is to be supported 2-1 to us.

14 Aug 2016 10:56:59
Grino75, why don't you stopslagging our players off before they've even touched a ball this season? Moreno is a decent player along with Mignolet, they need SUPPORTERS to start supporting, its not a difficult concept to get behind the team and boost their confidence before every game, instead of making them less confident, simple eh?

14 Aug 2016 11:23:58
i do surport all the players they both just make me nervous when there in the team. and i have not seen many post on here not wanting a new left back. and i think we play the high press game today we can win easy.

14 Aug 2016 11:54:45
Until they make a mistake then all the abuse starts from posters like you.

14 Aug 2016 12:08:24
Ed002 what are we meant to say if a player clearly after 2 and 3 seasons are not good enough for us.

That is a perfectly acceptable comment. After a transfer window I can't see how we are starting with Moreno and mignolet.

Its not being bad fans its just stating what every Liverpool fan worth there salt is asking.

It would be idiotic to come on here and say I am so happy Moreno and migs are still in the team after the transfer window, I just hope the end comes quickly so wr can have another season with players clearly not good enough for hs.

What makes it worse is Moreno shows no signs of wanting to be better for us or his team mates so why should we show him blind faith and mignolet thinks he's a world beater so is hardly going to improve if he thinks he is at the top of tree so what's the point in waiting and not succeeding, just to be counted better fans in your eyes?

{Ed002's Note - They are Liverpool players, and like everone associated with the club (owners, Mr Ayre, a whole series of managers, players past, players present and potential players future) they are open to being trashed by many of the "fans". Liverpool still has a massively bloated squad and a large set of "fans" who don't appreciate any of them. The owners have provided funding for the marquee players demanded by the fans (Benteke, Lallana, Carroll, Mane, Firmino et al) and still the "fans" bleat and moan like pre-pubescent girls. There is no winning as far as the club goes. The "fans" jeered the team and a previous manager last season dragging down the team and demoralizing - and months later they were looking for excuses for the new manager (although he does now have a win percentage marginly better than Roy Hodgson). The money has been borrowed creating significant debt - but the "fans" crave money to be spent not worry about who on - as long as it is lots of money. It is a sad indictment of the modern day football "fan". And Liverpool is not the only club blighted by this; we are seeing the same at Manchester United who now have the modern day toxic "fan" base of their own. Many, many Liverpool "fans" pretty much expected the players to all be changed in the summer for the German "superstars" (Hummels, Reus, Draxler etc.) they have been holding their dicks for. No doubt we will soon be back to the usual cycle - debt, transition, excuses, transition, Stevie G comes out of prison and takes over as the manager, new players, more debt, transition, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Perhaps if Liverpool could buy themselves some decent "supporters" to oust those "fans" who have no seemingly have no interest in getting behind the club and the team then they will be in a much better position. You need more Waros and less people who whine on the day of the first game of the season.}

14 Aug 2016 16:37:53
Dont appreciate anyone. Coutinho can do no wrong. all the Suarez stuff and he is still idolised. All were pointing out is that in our team there are players bot good enough as footballers. If you want me to praise the good ones then allow us to criticise the bad ones, the ones that aren't going to help us achieve what wr want.

If you want to respond go and watch the arsenal game first and tell me I should say anything other than Moreno out.

14 Aug 2016 16:55:36
the worst left back in the league.

Seems to me a lot of our fans are being very negative about the season ahead of us. don't understand why.
We have a very good squad of players and hopefully will get shut of some fringe players and hopefully recruit the LB we all know we need. But over all our squad is capable of challenging for the top spot with a bit of luck and IF we can keep certain players fit.
Hoping for a win today.

14 Aug 2016 09:33:36
I feel we'll be "left back" if we don't address our weaknesses.

14 Aug 2016 10:08:47
Come on fella season starts today . Get behind the team will ya?

14 Aug 2016 12:01:10
I think because people are worried that we are beginning the season with mignolet (as default) and Moreno at left back, with arguably the same midfield as last season so unless they have improved drastically we might see the same issues. There's always going to be questions asked before a season let's just hope those answers get swept away as the season starts, as I'm sure some of them will. Don't forget everyone supports the team, pessimistic or optimistic, everyone on here supports lfc.

Plus I have seen more positivity than negativity on here so it just makes no sense that I keep seeing posters right 'I see a lot of negativity on here and I don't understand why' firstly that brings more negativity of anything, secondly, if questioning why we haven't got a new left back is 'negativity' then I have no idea anymore.

14 Aug 2016 15:06:08
Who says they having improved? They all had not her season under there belt. people go on about Tottenham building a young team, have we not got the same.

Last year wonders happened.

This year . chelsea, mancity and arsenal are genuine contenders for top4.

Then you have strong manu, champions leicster, and tottenham.

Liverpool has been inconsistent, but conpared to last season, this one is going to be difficult for us.

Striker position will be interesting. studge --> injured
Ings never got a kick start.
Origi-> potential and injury prone.

Firmino might have to play the lead role.

Our exciting area is midfield, with all eyes in mane.

Believable1 Unbelievable14

14 Aug 2016 06:01:22
I actually think this season is a great opportunity for us. Spurs and Arsenal haven't really improved their first team. City are going through changes and it's a whole new league for pep. Man utd have done what they have for the last 3 years- bought big name players but play the most dull football. I think they will struggle more than most think. Chelsea will be hard to beat buy haven't improved their attack enough. I see them getting a lot of draws. Leicester may struggle with CL, they have a good team but not sure they have the depth.

14 Aug 2016 08:58:25
Origi injury prone?

One injury when his leg was decapitated by funes? Lol

He's ohr number one, mainly because of his avaliabikity unlike inga and studge.
