You can sign only 1 player this summer who is it?
For me it's 100% got to be a quality centre half. So I'd go for tah, because I think VVD is far too unrealistic and out of price range.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

14 Apr 2017 23:29:13
For me it would be Bonucci I know it's unrealistic and there is no chance of it happening and he isn't getting any younger but he is the kind of leader we are missing. Not just a good defender but he loves defending.

{Ed007's Note - What Liverpool need is Kris Commons.... and he's on a free! :-D

14 Apr 2017 23:34:17
Sorry but i have to say P-E A!

15 Apr 2017 00:01:01
VvD me lad . Why would It be unrealistic because it's out of are price range. Why can we spend that much.

15 Apr 2017 00:15:53
Ed 007 how about a swap Milner and Flanagan for Tierney. you know it makes sense.

{Ed007's Note - Hahahaha If you want Tierney you'd need to sell your stadium to finance it. KT's living the dream mate playing for the Club he loves and supported all his life, he's no intention of leaving for a while yet. He's some player though and I know he'll eventually move on but I'm hoping he sticks around until he's 22-24 and we get top dollar for him, all this talk of a £10 million move to Man Utd is garbage, if Celtic sold him for that there would be riots on the street up here AND worse than usual.}

15 Apr 2017 01:15:46
Ed 007 well after you've got your 10 in a row put the lad in a taxi to Anfield . I miss seeing a quality Scottish player in the Red of Liverpool.

{Ed007's Note - I'll see what I can do if you promise to get Klopp to take over from St Brendan after the 10 lol.}

15 Apr 2017 09:38:32
Just wish the lad had believed in
himself enough and waited a bit longer for his Ireland call up. Could tear the lad up sitting on the beach every summer.

Oh and it would have to be buffon. The man could sort the defence out that karius could leaend from him.

15 Apr 2017 10:11:11
Ive always said id give my left nut t get Suarez back and ill stand by it but if i could buy anybody it would be Kevin de Bruyne.

15 Apr 2017 10:22:55
All my mates are huge celts and they rant and rave about all things Celtic particularly this guy and the dembeles especially karamoko saying he's going to be special.

15 Apr 2017 10:44:16
Tierney will leave, no doubt. If he wants to win some real trophies that actually mean something then he will surely go to a big club. He certainly won't waste his time in the SPL.

15 Apr 2017 02:19:32
Ed001, i get your point regarding tierney and Ed007,love it haha.
and thank you to all of the editors on this site! love your info! :)

{Ed007's Note - At this special time of the year, Easter btw, it's a time to ponder and reflect. Could all of our lives, our very existence, just be a tiny part a dream KT is having?}

15 Apr 2017 07:00:41
Ed not seen much of him us he that good or just looks better bec playing in a poor league?

{Ed007's Note - If he was at a club in your rich league AND English he'd be getting hyped up by the press etc as the best young LB in the world. One of the scary things is that he's just as good on the right as he is on the left.}

15 Apr 2017 14:24:22
Cleggy and ED 007 yes the lad is that good. Maybe it is a poor league up here but I've seen some woeful PL matches over the years and I've seen Championship matches that would get football stopped. A good pass, block, tackle or cross is the same at any level of football . I've seen Tierney play with the same attitude and level whether it's Slovenia Man City or Ross County, he's not moving now but when he does I hope it's to us . Hopefully he likes hearing YNWA when stepping out onto the pitch.

14 Apr 2017 20:48:05
good evening eds, a quick one if you may bearing his goals and assists in mind and every other thing he offers, do u consider wijnaldum to be a squad player at best or good enough to even be a starter next season? thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its all about opinions tobi, for me being neutral i see him as a squad player mate but maybe ED001 who is a red may see it differently, if you direct you question to him specifically im sure he will give you his view..

14 Apr 2017 21:30:10
Can hardly believe you are asking this question. He's a starter no problem. He has done a very good job in the main this season; a real missing piece of the jigsaw. Maybe even this generation's Ray Kennedy, and from me that is praise indeed.

{Ed025's Note - your setting the bar very high there ND, ray kennedy was a fantastic player and i dont think wiji has done anything yet to be compared to the great man yet mate..

14 Apr 2017 21:35:48
Imo, I think he's learning a new role, last season he was very much an attacking mid and was a main option and relied on to score as well as create. I feel the second half of the season so far he has started to come into his own and will continue to progress in his new role.

14 Apr 2017 23:16:33
My view remains he's had a decent season and has improved over the course of the year but he remains the weakest of our first choice front six and will likely make way for a new signing or Can next season.

14 Apr 2017 23:21:36
Certain players aren't valued until there sold or injured.

We would feel a big loss if wij comes out the team. Compliments everyone and adds tons to the team!

15 Apr 2017 09:46:05
As a watcher of dutch football while he was coming through, I've said it before but at first it was thought he would be a box to box engine all round player when coming through, a mate tells me shortly after getting a couple games scored an outrageous hattrick in a practice game that saw him pushed farther forward and at times (awfully) flat out wide.

From this though he got shoeholed into this modern number 10 role that everyone seems to play.
That being said when we signed him I had no idea what we were doing as although having incredible undoubted talent, go watch his last season for Eindhoven, I had no idea where he'd fit in our system.
But klopp obviously saw and sees him as a more box to box player and honestly I think he's learning on the job incredibly well.
Once he has it down as well I think we will really see him excel next season as his shooting especially distance shooting which we lack at times is phenomenal he has great technique striking the ball which we haven't seen and also making runs late in to the box which we have seen but not enough of either IMO but more and more of late.

15 Apr 2017 10:19:30
Wiji is played out of position. Technically sound with good feet. He is by no means a traditional CM which you want him to be.

15 Apr 2017 10:21:29
Ray Kennedy was a striker at Arsenal but when Liverpool signed him he converted to midfield. what a player.

15 Apr 2017 10:23:07
Totally agree. Maybe didn't start too good and he had plenty of criticism especially on here and I have to admit at the start I had my doubts too but as the seasons went on he's been one of the better players and he's only going to get better.

15 Apr 2017 10:34:38
If the club ends up getting their hands on Keita or Nzonzi, someone is going to have to make way in the midfield trio of Hendo-Lallana-Gini. Would be a shame if it was Gini though. Has done well when called upon and will only get better considering this was his first full season as a box to box midfielder.

15 Apr 2017 11:24:08
I think gini is great in the three, but I strongly believe in games we struggle in, we need to play a striker with mane coutinho and firmino, and that for me means hendo plus one.

15 Apr 2017 12:36:42
Wijinaldum has proven we wrong this season I thought he was going to bomb but he has been decent. I think he, like many in the team, are still too soft though and buckle when the chips are down rather than lifting their own performances. This is not a criticism aimed solely at Gini though and, in my opinion, he has been one of our better players this season - I'd never of imagined him doing this well before the season started but he has and I think he will get better (so lomng as he has the drive to improve) - I'd certainly not be shifting him out of the team just yet.

14 Apr 2017 18:59:33
Interesting talk about how to choose the right transfer target, trying to replace Suarez. A few years old, but nevertheless. Basically we should have gone for Tevez rather than Balotelli. Could have told them that for free, but this guy explains why.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

14 Apr 2017 19:44:12
Never mind Balotelli, the signing of Benteke was utterly mind boggling. Here we had a player who was good at holding up the ball but 90% of the time nowhere to be found in the box. When he was in the box he could not hit a barnyard door. He trotted along at snail pace. Thank goodness Klopp saw that he had absolutely no place in a high energy system yet somehow Rodgers thought he would fit.

I have not watched the whole video but would be interesting to see how our counter attacking has improved under Klopp. One can only think that we are up there with 2013/ 14 compared to this season without a terror like Suarez leading the line.

14 Apr 2017 19:48:53
I used to love watching tevez, regardless of who he played for.

14 Apr 2017 22:13:18
I got about 3 mins in.
So you have a nervous speaker talking who presumably has had this info thrown at him by experts who have never managed the game in any form. Everyone can read stats and be assumptuios.
One of his stats was Mignolet having the ball at his feet over the course of a season but then he waists to talk about goals scored from our forwards.
When will people realise that it's never purely a striker that will win the league. Every form of play has to be consistent.
Goalkeepers, defensive unit to holding midfielders to goal scoring goal midfielders to strikers.
Every unit has to chip in. If it's not the strikers scoring it had to be the support players.
The defensive midfielders have to supportive of the defenders. The defenders have to be capable of keeping leads.
It's a complete ream game. Not just the forwards. We have been there and done that. Didn't work.

14 Apr 2017 18:57:09
Personally I think Joe Gomez playing on the left side of the back three rather than Klavan would provide better cover for Milner when he gets forward as Gomez is capable of covering across and getting 1v1 with wingers due to his pace.

Also it would allow us to change system to a back 4 at any point with Gomez going to left back. Also he's much more comfortable on the ball than Klavan.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

14 Apr 2017 19:24:17
I hope and pray Klopp does not play and back three vs WBA. We do not have players who are capable of playing as wing backs and a back 3 who are not on the same page. Disaster waiting to happen.

14 Apr 2017 21:34:04
I don't agree that we are short of suitable wing backs, Max. It's having three solid centre backs who have the positional sense to play together in a back three is where the system falls down.

15 Apr 2017 01:59:03
Yes we do, we have Moreno who basically plays wingback even in a back 4 and Milner can go on the right so that we have better end product. With the height of WBA and the injuries we have, a back three might be the best.
I agree with the argument of Gomez at LCB (in a back 3). Middle: Can, Wijnaldum, Coutinho, ST; Firmino, Sturridge in a 3412 or 532 which ever way you look at it.

15 Apr 2017 02:53:23
I'm not a big fan of a back 3 because I think Klavan and Lovren are relatively poor out wide, but if we do play it we need to play 3-4-3 like in the second half of Stoke rather than 3-5-1-1 which left Woodburn and Origi isolated. At least with a 3-4-3 we also have 3 players upfront that can add width if necessary and control possession going forward.

Assuming a 3-4-3 I'd go for
Lovren - Matip - Gomez
TAA - Wiji - Can - Milner
Firmino - Origi - Coutinho

Use Sturridge off the bench once opposition tires.

15 Apr 2017 10:07:51
Honestly hadn't thought about it but good points lads, if we are to play a back 3 I think it would be the perfect time to try and integrate joe as he has that bit of pace and could switch to full back!
Also I'd love to see haych's team given a shot but honestly would prefer if we played our regular formation, give woodburn ojo or Wilson a shot at wing and grujic in midfield we would then have two of origi studge and firmino to bring on to change it up.

14 Apr 2017 10:52:00
Eds01/ 02 would just like to hear your opinion on Pepe Reina? I grew watching him play for us, and had his Jersey nearly every year, I thought he was unbelievable for us winning the golden glove and breaking clean sheet records for us. I know he had a decline but wasn't that around the time Achterberg became GK Coach? I was shocked the way he was pushed out of the club. Do you think he should have stayed?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - he was never the same after Xavi Valero left, but he was not pushed out of the club at all. He forced his way out.}

14 Apr 2017 14:20:39
More reason the goalkeeping coaching needs to be looked at John Achterburg simply hasn't done the Job. He may have ed but was that not after he was told he would be number two after Mignolet was signed? can't blame him for leaving as he is to good to sit on the bench for any team. Have we looked at goalkeeping coaches ed to replace or help John Achterburg?

{Ed001's Note - no. Mignolet was signed to replace him because he was forcing his way out and had been trying to leave for a few seasons.

No we haven't for some unknown reason.}

14 Apr 2017 14:22:07
While on the subject of goalkeepers ed can I ask you would you rather see Karius given another chance next season or would you rather see we sign a new keeper?

{Ed001's Note - I would rather we had stuck with Karius and seen if he had what it takes. Now I have no idea what to think, as I have not seen enough of Karius to know if he is the answer or not long term.}

14 Apr 2017 14:36:49
Reina was set to go to Barcelona and made that clear to Liverpool at the time. The deal fell through when Valdes ended up staying at Barcelona. Everything was confirmed by Reina's father. Reina then in his open letter lied saying it was the clubs choice to move him on.

14 Apr 2017 16:54:58
Klopp did an Everest blunder dropping Karius for what? Taking the lime light? Utter bull. I know people will come protesting Klopp for this excellent move. Now they want to sell Migs ( Wgo actually has been good ) for someone who hasn't caught a ball in months. Instead of building his confidence we benched him and are now stuck big time and criticize fans for turning against the player.

14 Apr 2017 16:48:27
I don't think you can blame the likes on Reina and Torres for wanting to leave, we were winning absoutly nothing.

And still don't win anything.

14 Apr 2017 17:10:25
Karius was dropped after a series of blunders like the Bournemouth game. If Karius wasn't making blunders he wouldn't be in the limelight.
He was never ready to start in the first place. The premier league is not the place to learn your trade as a keeper.

{Ed001's Note - every keeper makes a series of blunders, even Lloris, Neuer and Buffon have done it. He was dropped because of a social media campaign, not because of the way he was playing.}

14 Apr 2017 17:49:29
Ed1, do you think Klopp's handling of the situation is likely to see us go and sign another no.1 this summer or will he reinstate Karius?

{Ed001's Note - I expect Karius to be reinstated, as things stand.}

14 Apr 2017 17:59:47
Spot on, Ed. Karius made a couple of mistakes. So what? Which GK or player hasn't? Show me a player who's never made a mistake and I show you a player who has never played the game.

Nonsense, Ron. Lloris, De Gea and many other top GK's learnt by making mistakes, not by being dropped and sold after playing 10 games. Had they been sold, would they be as good as they are now? Sometimes you have to take a chance on a kid and Klopp has taken a chance on him so we should support him instead of waiting for him to fail so "we can be right".

Karius was dropped cos fans like you got on his back cos "he was losing us the PL" nonsense, a title run we were NEVER in due to the obvious holes in the team.

The fans took sides with a failed manager manc instead of getting a backbone and supporting your own player at his lowest point. Klopp had to act cos it was getting out of hand and hysterical. The kid is talented as his perf vs Saints in the Cup shows BUT I guess he fluked that one.

{Ed001's Note - I don't remember Ron ever doing that mate, I think that is a bit harsh.}

14 Apr 2017 18:19:00
Thanks for the reply Ed, and happy Easter.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome RN and happy Easter to you too.}

14 Apr 2017 18:56:39
Well Ron, We haven't won the league dropping Karius. I would have agreed for a couple of games to shake up his low confidence but not months of warming the bench role.

14 Apr 2017 18:52:48
Well that means Karius has to start this all over again. Excellent job from the coaching staff!

14 Apr 2017 19:05:57
I don't see the point in buying unless you are upgrading your current options. Neither of our keepers have had the benefit of an organised stable back four to play behind and let's be honest neither of Pickford or Ruffier are better than what we have, so maybe improving our defence would be the better option.

14 Apr 2017 18:46:03
Twitter fans went ballistic and one of the reasons why Klopp decided to to drop Karius along with the witch hunt from media.

Agree with Ed001, Karius will be back between the sticks start of next season.

{Ed025's Note - i really hope so max.. :)

14 Apr 2017 19:12:35
Were do you expect Everton to finish next season without Lukaku Ed025 :-)

{Ed025's Note - first of course max!, well thats how i feel at the start of every season before reality strikes, rom has done a great job for us but like all clubs we just move on, im sure liverpool fans said the same about rush then aldo came along, then fowler and torres took the mantle, he went and suarez bites his way to become the hero, there are a lot of good strikers out there mate and its getting one that fits which is the hard thing, we now have the financial clout to compete with the big boys but without CL football it does limit your options, one thing i will say is that i dont want anyone at everton who is not totally committed to the cause so if he goes then good luck to him, no one player is bigger than the club and i feel we have the set up to challenge at the very top next season.. but i say that every year.. :)

14 apr 2017 19:51:01
the financial clout to compete with the big boys? so why have you not tied lukaku down yet mate?

ed002 said that everton have messed the lukaku deal up and ed002 has also made mentioned that your owner is not going to bankroll everton, especially when the financial turn over of the club ain't there.

nothing wrong with being positive though ;-)

{Ed025's Note - its not about the money with rom max (which is amazing) he wants CL football and medals, its true that moshiri cant bankroll the club but there are ways and means to get around FFP as city, united and chelski have proven, expect everton to be one of the big hitters when the window opens mate..

14 Apr 2017 19:58:50
10 games 12 goals against 3 clean sheets in the league is not as bad as the media made it seem. Especially when we shipped in four against bournemouth thanks to a leaky defence and the midfield leaving them hanging.

14 Apr 2017 20:20:10
Ed025, UTD and Chelsea have not had to get around FFP. UTD have no problem repaying their debt each season as they are one of the highest earning clubs in the world. Chelsea have found a good way of managing their expenditure too.

City and their lucrative stadium (family) deal got away with day light robbery. They won't be able to pull off such deals again though.

Unless Everton are earning what Liverpool does then there is no way they will be outspending us. Hot cup of tea?

{Ed025's Note - all the big clubs are doing it max, and im sure that when liverpool become a big club again then they will be playing the same game mate.. :)

14 Apr 2017 20:25:19
Cheers ed.
I have never conceded the title so to say he was losing us the premier league is not my style.
We were top of the league at the turn of the year, how can we "never have been in the running"?

14 Apr 2017 20:33:46
If Liverpool are winning trophies then there is no need to get around FFP mate.

Everton are so far behind financially, your owner will have to come up with a some good ideas. Your plans for a new stadium could be a stepping stone but Everton are mountains behind the big players financially mate. New stadium will likely see you guys having to tighten up the pockets.

{Ed025's Note - we are very stable financially max and have been very frugal over the years which has held us back, moshiri is full of ideas mate and you will see them coming to the fore in the near future..

14 Apr 2017 23:14:55
I think Karius must be a hypnotist in his spare time. He's certainly got so many on here under his spell.

If you want facts, Mignolet started the season in goal because Karius couldn't tell the difference between a team mate's head and the ball and broke his wrist. We started well and at one point topped the League.

Then Klopp brought Karius in and, in the blink of an eye, we were 8 points behind. Most if those points were lost because of mistakes by Karius, and you all want him to start as number 1 next season!

I agree that there was a media witch hunt, but only because he made so many mistakes it was becoming embarrassing.

Somebody on an earlier post talked of him in the same breath as Loris, Neuer and De Gea. To quote John Henry, 'What have you been smoking? '

Actually, I'm not writing Karius off and agree he might well come good at some point. But I think we will lose a hell of a lot of points in the process. However, what I can't understand is the blind loyalty to a player who has shown nothing yet. The same people who were eagerly awaiting Mignolet to make just one mistake.

Let's face it, Klopp dropped Karius because he could see Top 4 waving goodbye.

15 Apr 2017 10:14:36
I'd hope karius is daily having high balls kicked up in to the air for him while origi and matip use every trick in the book to put him off while working hard with our gk coaches studying the differences between his game in Germany and keepers like lloris here. If that was the case while telling him this is all for next season and the five after while you nail down the keeper role and make yourself a legend then it could be a masterstroke if we also manage to make top 4 this season. However deep down I doubt this is what is happening but a man can hope!

15 Apr 2017 10:26:07
I for one hope Moshiri plans come to pass mate . Nothing better for the buzz around the city when the two clubs are competing at the top of the table and in Europe . I would love for Liverpool to be winning the league with Everton 2nd obviously as I am a red but always have a bit of Everton in my heart for the grandad. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

15 Apr 2017 22:25:37
Ron our boys need our support especially Karius . Let's back them too to help hilt . Screw the sceptics and naysayers. Imn this life it is easy to choose the safe root . I at the expense of beige branded and idiot i stand shoulder to shoulder with our warriors.

14 Apr 2017 12:28:09
hey eds reports today saying kolansic has agreed a move to a prem side i konow ypu said he was set for ac milan but there takeover was holding it up is there any update on that or has he changed his mind i know there were reperts we had an interest?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Try the European pages.}

14 Apr 2017 11:37:20
Hey ed 002 you told in some other site that someone like HNU group would like to buy a top four club. If liverpool get top four, they eould be interested or not?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea who that is.}

14 Apr 2017 10:32:31
Surely harry Wilson will get chances before end of season with mane out. What a season he's having with u23's.

Believable17 Unbelievable0

14 Apr 2017 14:29:42
27 goals is mad for a wide player at any level of football.

Lallana reckons he is one of the most talented youngsters.

14 Apr 2017 14:31:24
After, pace, directness and end product.

14 Apr 2017 16:51:47
There's a few very physical sides left to play so I can't see him playing too much. Surely though if we guarantee our champions league qualification soon our young guns will get a few starts.

15 Apr 2017 02:14:53
Physicality has nothing to do with it, imo he can handle himself, as Wilson doesn't change his game. Plus his feet are too quick, he would get us a lot of free kicks which we are looking more and more likely of scoring from as of late. He also doesn't just play on his side of the pitch he gets in behind, comes short, cuts in, gets the other attacking playing involved. his all round game is mature enough to warrant a chance at some point.

14 Apr 2017 09:55:55
happy easter to all the eds and fellow posters, have a good one.
