Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

13 Sep 2015 20:32:10
Skrtel & Lovren clearly aren't good together. I have never been convinced about Skrtel and am less so of Lovren. Sakho has been told he isn't wanted. Kolo Toure is over the hill. Ilori played exceptionally well in the recent U-21 championship but has been shipped off to Aston Villa.
We have a good right back in Clyne. Moreno, for all his potential(?) is now behind an 18 year old in the pecking order.
Can someone please explain the logic in our transfer policy?
These are insights into the blindingly obvious that I cannot quite believe that the current regime of so called professionals are unable to comprehend.
We need a manager who undertands football, backed by Carra and Gerrard.

They need to stop farting around at the back.

Yes, they are to blame but they have no movement in front of them.

Please don't think I'm praising them in any shape or form, but the movement in front of our defence was as poor as I've seen from a Liverpool side.

Just think we should play Gomez and sakho! Lovren and skrtel have had their chance, it's a young back line and can't get any worse

Couldn't agree more Davey, I lost count of the number of times a defender was trying to find a forward outlet and all I could see were Man U shirts.

13 Sep 2015 23:33:56
Not even I could explain the logic in that ;)

In order to explain the logic, we have to be able to see it to begin with. In this case, there is none to speak of.

Agree with Davey

All people see Skrtel / lovren passing back to Migs. No one notice it's the lack of options in front of them they are forced to play back. You need a player like Carrick to receive it from your CB. When your CB has no movement ahead then you have the ball inside your own box.

The more you say this the more people abuse your opinion.

Sakho / Gomez ll be no different if you don't have a good midfield ahead.

Our problem is our midfield and not yet he defense.

The second goal is the perfect example . Carrick picked Herrerra just in front of our 6 yard box. I have no clue what was Milner and Lucas doing all night.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - Milner was aimlessly running round looking busy and Lucas was busy trying to fill in the holes he left.}

14 Sep 2015 06:31:52
Milner and Can did nothing in the first 4 games is a worrying signal for me. People easily criticize BR and his tactics.

That line up was the best we could ok Saturday.

Whatever the role was assigned to our midfield we were utter poor. They all are professional footballers and showed no sign of quality.

Couldn't keep hold of the ball for 10 secs.

Make no mistake I would love Allen / Rossitter in the team shows how poor our current Midfield is.

We need someone to keep the ball and we have no player with that quality.

Saw the Milan derby yesterday. Kondogbia and Melo were running the show in the midfield. How good was Medal. Should have swapped Lucas for Medal.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - should have added Medel years ago, not exchanged them.}

14 Sep 2015 08:50:11
You can play the best players you want but they play the way Rodgers wants them to play. If they are "farting around at the back", it's because that's what Rodgers wants. But, we will never hear a word of critique from Davey for The Fraud.

People blame Rodgers because it is his responsibility as the manger to make them look like a coherent unit Harry. I don't expect you to understand this though.

Roy Hodgson - 20 Premier League games in charge. Didn't spend £200+m on players. Scored 25 points, and he was sacked.

Brendan Rodgers - Did spend £200+m on players. From our last 20 PL games, we've gleaned 31 points. 6 points more! £33+m for each point. BARGAIN!

(Yes, this post is partially trolling. But only partially)

Some positive news is Lallana is fit again and Coutinho back, let's hope Henderson is back with Sturridge and Allen soon.

Believable3 Unbelievable15

13 Sep 2015 22:26:14
Yeah especially Allen and Lallana will be our saviours. The welsh xavi and a poor mans kuyt.
Please. Both of them should never have been bought and when the mistake was done, they should have been sold or loand out like they done with all our best players like Ilori,Marco,Suarez,gerrard,sterling bla bla bla.

Agree3 Disagree4

13 Sep 2015 22:47:18
Why all the disagrees to the OPs post? Isn't it good news we will soon be getting a fully fit squad? Seriously what's going on with everyone. I hate it that Rodgers is at the helm but all this doom and gloom makes a bad result even more depressing.

The players aren't and never will be the prob because our squad is good enuff.

Agree7 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 08:33:15
Good enough for what?

They are not good enough to win anything without exceeding their individual capabilities by playing as a team.
There was no team work on Saturday.
In the last 2 summers we have lost 2 world class players plus Sterling and replaced them with mediocre players at best.
We have no world class players anymore, even Coutinho is a good player but not yet world class.

Agree1 Disagree2

14 Sep 2015 09:02:33
So you can only challenge for a Top 4 spot if you have a subjective "World Class" player? Are you now changing tact and criticizing the recruitment policy for Rodgers' failures? Surely Ron, you must know that all of the players at LFC are here because Rodgers' wanted them?

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 18:29:38
Thanks for the response, AG. Ron has been contradicting himself for a while now and he thinks no one will notice. Sorry bro, you`re all wet. If the players we have now aren`t good enuff and we needed a world class star, why has your BFF not bought one after getting 200m to spend? Who bought the players you are calling not good enuff? Who is the one making them look much worse than they actually are? Who`s the one who said, "No player will come here that the manager doesn`t want"? Save it, Ron! Your boy is making you look and sound like a mug so don`t try to fool us now by criticizing him. We know better

Can somebody please explain to me why BR is intent on playing players completely out of position.
Does he really believe he's being really unpredictably ultra-clever or is he just a prat?

Believable9 Unbelievable0

13 Sep 2015 21:45:28
To accommodate players who have been assured playing games and position, he is forced to play some players outside the position.
Moreover FA did not grant our club to field more than 11 players on the pitch.

Dear Eds,

Not posted for a long time, but check in regularly to follow the regular Brendan/player bashing and thanks as usual for all the insight and work you guys put in, (loving the podcasts by the way).
Just wondering if any of you had any recent insight into the mood, in particular of the players as a group, and their general relationship with the manager? Given the apparent lack of cohesion/game plan and direction on the pitch. This coupled with the poor and in some circumstances shocking treatment of individual players, and other poorly run areas of the club in general you have pointed out at times on the site, surely this has/does impact on general morale, and mood at the club, (and presumably on the pitch), this following on from some of the player/manager issues last year. And lastly if you think this could (not just wishful thinking), impact on Brendan's position in the short to medium term.

Sorry for the slightly rambling question, appreciate any response, and opinions of other posters.

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea what you are talking about but the players will want to be winning games and the entire group will be trying to improve.}

Agree9 Disagree1

13 Sep 2015 19:11:39
I'm not normally one to openly speak my mind about the manager but I am going to say something on this occasion.

I really, really do not understand why he kept the same CB pairing. I am totally baffled.

If a player had a total shocker the game before, I am pretty sure most managers would have dropped them for the next game. It's not like we have an incompetent moron as back up either, Sakho is a very good defender and very capable of doing better than the current two.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Sakho knows he isn't wanted at the club and was told to find a new club over the summer. Feeling in France is that he will seek a loan in January as he wants to be considered for the Euros - but I suspect Liverpool would not want to loan him out as at some point they need to be bringing money in. Roma and Bayer Leverkusen had proposals kicked back in the summer either because they were loans or the money was not right. Since then mixed messages. Tough to call.}

13 Sep 2015 20:02:15
Mixed messages? From the club, that he might have a future?

Hsf
I guess Rodgers is trying to give them some confidence, hoping that they can form an understanding, a good partnership. doesn't seem to be working tho.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The problem is that Lovren came in above him as a left-sided CB last season but he still got quite a lot of games, he was told to find a new club in the summer before the club rejected offers for him from two decent sides, and his Euros place in in jeopardy. How would you feel?}

13 Sep 2015 18:23:15
Hi all the way I see is it's not good at the moment if fact it's bloody terrible.But as Ed001 said he will probably get the full season before any changes are made unless it gets really bad.So all we can do for now is support the team.Unfortunately as you can guess I live in Ireland so can't get over much but for those who do please support the lads on the pitch,suppose that's all we can do for now.

I really don't understand all the screaming and complaining. Most of us knew this was going to happen, evident from our 3 previous seasons. The eds gave their opinion suggesting he should of been removed, and if i recall correctly, after it was made clear he wouldn't be replaced, ed001 said, at least now we don't have to expect much. I know its hard, really hard, since there was some glimmer of hope with the new coaching staff, but let's try and keep it together as fans, its embarrassing enough on the field

STEPH I remember distinctly coming on here after the Arsenal game and saying that we were playing poor and that the result of a draw at Arsenal along with couts wonder strike were masking how bad we truly were. YOU and a GREAT many others were happy we were still picking up points playing badly and that it was a mark of good teams when you play badly and pick up points,and that we would soon start winning better. I noted the fact I was told to ''wind my neck in'' ''give my head a wobble'' ''cheer up and stop being so miserable'' You along with John Barnez Benny Baller et al were all happy with the way we were playing as long as we picked u points,now it's evident that that's not going to happen you've all changed your tune in 2 games. I'm sorry but YOU did NOT see this coming.

13 Sep 2015 19:30:26
Folk were saying after the arsenal game that we played very well for 45 minutes at arsenal so to say it was awful is a rubbish remark . However I knew we would struggle without any balance and controlling midfielder and pace in the squad as I've mentioned quite a few times . Even before a ball was kicked . Too many one paced utility midfielders in the squad . I agree it shouldn't be a shock to anyone . When a man ignores the fundamentals of any good prem lge side , it shouldn't be a surprise when the losses come . And they'll keep coming

Agree9 Disagree0

13 Sep 2015 17:17:52

13 Sep 2015 14:47:38
Ed001 you've said you think Rodgers will get a lot more time than he realistically should, do you think that could be Gordon would rather not sack him now and have to potentially make O'Driscoll a caretaker and then have to deal with getting someone in who is permanent? At this point in the season a caretaker would seem very iffy until the summer and I could hardly think of us getting in someone who could actually sort us out. Thanks for all the excellent work on the site (to all the Eds not just Ed001) and I look forward to the next podcast.

Are you suggesting that Bob Bradley is a serious target? I live in Norway and trust me when I say that he is not the man.

Agree12 Disagree0

13 Sep 2015 16:36:14
There is nothing to suggest that Bob Bradley is the person LFC are taking advice from or that LFC are going to look to him for as a future manager. I know a player who plays for Bradely, who says he is a good manager though somewhat narrow-minded.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if you say so, but I would take the word of someone within the club who knows Bradley has been spoken to for advice over yours anyday. Whether or not they would look to him as a future manager I have no idea, but he has certainly given advice.}

13 Sep 2015 16:49:00
That's news to me Ed001. The player I know who plays for Bradely know nothing about Bradley giving advice to LFC, but my observations were based on that Ed002 hasn't told us that Bradley is the guy/guys LFC have been seeking advice from. IMO Bradley is the type of manager you put in place if you are developing football, not if you are trying to assert themselves and improve drastically.

Agree3 Disagree0

13 Sep 2015 16:56:39
What about Bielsa Ed001? He's resigned as Marseille manager so is therefore available. A possibility?
Also can we all start a petition online to FSG to get this man who is damaging our club out? What's it going to take for MG to see what's going on.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I would very much doubt that someone who doesn't speak English would be appointed any time soon.}

13 Sep 2015 17:34:46
Bradley is defo not the answer

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Bradley would actually be a very good option. But he has a job and Liverpool has a manager.}

13 Sep 2015 17:48:34
Biesla is also a very volatile character, You should search how he has quit teams in the past. No way should Biesla be anywhere near the list of options.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - You are correct, he is far from stable.}

13 Sep 2015 18:06:08
Ed002- you said Bradley is a good option. Could you explain what sort of manager he is in terms of style as I've not seen anything of any of his teams

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - He will work with the players he is given and has 30 or more years experience as a coach, often reviving clubs that are running on empty, evolving them in to winning sides. He will adapt the style of play to suit the players, and get the best out of players, rather than try and force the players to change paradigm and player in a way not suited to them. He is dedicated and intelligent and is extremely well respected within the game at all levels - including the players. He is good and straightforward with the press.}

13 Sep 2015 18:13:29
Ed002 why do you think Bradley would be a good option?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - See just above Barry.}

13 Sep 2015 18:21:41
Don't really understand how not speaking English would be a problem, is it a case of the owners not wanting a non English speaking coach or beisla not wanting to work where he doesn't speak the language ed?
You would probably get more sense out of beisla than Rodgers anyway regardless of what language they speak, Rodgers may speak English but also complete garbage.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Really, you don't see the inability to be able to communicate with the owners, board, fans, press and most of the players an issue? Are you aware of the problems at Marseille where he had a translator?

Perhaps Chinese institutional owners and a manager who is unstable and unable to communicate with anyone at the club is just what Liverpool need? To cap it all, Joey Barton as Director of Football - as the fans know it is important to have a club "legend" in a high profile position.}

13 Sep 2015 19:01:05
I don't think Bradley is someone LFC should consider as the next coach. Wile he maybe well respected within football and has done well in the US, aside from his time with Staebek, he has never managed at a senior level in Europe, and certainly has not managed at a level as high as in the PL. FSG don't need any advise to know that there is no real substitute for experience and quality, and IMO Bradley will be nothing but another "punt".

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Sep 2015 19:20:50
Cheers for that Ed002 sounds the complete opposite of Rodgers in many ways, builds round the players he has and their strengths rather than forcing them into his style. And would be nice to hear a press conference not involving the words character and saying we were outstanding in a 3-0 loss

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - If Liverpool do decide the time is right for a change, he would be a good option and one which they may well consider. His season is up in early November.}

13 Sep 2015 19:55:04
I've met Bradley a couple of times. He's an extremely nice guy and more than happy to speak at length about tactics and such with fans. I have no real thoughts on him as our manager, but I don't think he would be as terrible as many might think particularly if paired with a very good Sporting Director type.

That said, if the largely American owners appointed a not so well known American manager, I think many supporters from a certain supporter's section might just about have a mass aneurism.

13 Sep 2015 14:40:14
This is my take on the problems surrounding us at the moment. Rodgers is completely out of his depth, so far his tactical decisions have been bizarre. Players playing out of position and starting players when there are clearly better players available. Rodgers has his favourites who are Milner Lovren and Lallana. We lacked ambition yesterday, which is solely responsible to Rodgers. His excuses are tiresome. I've had enough, this is his fourth season and we haven't progressed. £70 plus million was spent this summer and he didn't buy a centre back to play alongside Sakho and a defensive midfield player. Klopp is available and is basically offering himself for the job. What are we waiting for!! Rodgers is a good coach but a below average manager, his arrogance is astonishing for a man who has won nothing. The politics he plays within the club are a disgrace. Refusing to play committee buys, sending them on loan or just selling them without giving them a chance. Nobody can actually say that Rodgers deserves more time. He has to be sacked.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Klopp has never "offered himself" for the Liverpool job. He has turned down two recent offers from clubs and has a third in front of him - but he has made it clear he is taking this year off.}

13 Sep 2015 15:35:19
Could you offer us some clues as to which clubs?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It is entirely unimportant - it is nothing to do with Liverpool.}

13 Sep 2015 14:33:38
Hi Edds quick question. Do you think the Liverpool owners have a manager they like but are waiting for him and that is why they stood by Rodgers

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

13 Sep 2015 14:30:36
Not going to rant over Rodgers as we all know he is not the man to take us forward, but looking ahead I would say the next liverpool managerial appointment is going to be the most important since Houllier took over the Reds all those years ago.
We need someone who has leadership direction and is able to get us established in Europe again.
It needs to be someone with a long term plan who in 5 years time has us regularly in the Champions League which in turns enables us to attract the best players (something that Rodgers current Status in the game does not)
Im not sure who this Man is but if we get the next Liverpool wrong our mighty club could fall from grace even more than we have already.
We can never again (and should not have) appoint a manger with no standing in the game who has never won a trophy or even achieved anything.
The Liverpool managerial job should never be a job for someone to learn their trade, it should be a job where only the best are welcome and have to be a the top of their profession to even get a look in.
Just my humble opinion guys

{Ed002's Note - The owners will not be looking for a five year plan to be getting in to the Champions League on a regular basis, they will be looking to be regularly winning the league and challenging for the Champions League by then.}

Ed02,do you not think then that they need to lower their expectations and walk before they can run

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Their business model was to spend and build a team to win the league and challenge in Europe - they lost money at the rate of £1M a week over the first three seasons - this recent splurge might well be the last throw of the dice for them.}

13 Sep 2015 15:02:57
The plan wad badly flawed giving the money and players to a man who has won nothing in the game.I realise every manager is a risk to some extent,but spending that kind of money you'd want someone that had proved themselves

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not necessarily - in Germany the way is very much for the young and hungry managers and coaches to get a chance. This is beginning to happen across Europe. There are a whole bunch of younger coaches out there who will be vying for opportunities at the highest level. There is nothing wrong with Liverpool taking that approach. Guardiola had a season with the Barcelona B side before getting the Barcelona job. Julen Lopetegui (certainly one to watch) had done zip at club level when he got the Porto job. These are just examples - but don't discount clubs looking to appoint "the right man" - not necessarily the most successful.}

But it needs to be the right person as far as that is determinable, and he (or she) will need the support of the owners, the board and the players - and they really need the support of the fans until another transient manager or coach is recruited - and then it starts again.}

Good afternoon reds and Eds
Sorry to say but absolutely gutted with that performance yesterday.We showed no ambition to take anything from the game.It was simply a matter of time before they broke us down either by our own mistakes or by simply surrendering possession far too deep in our own half.Rodgers simply flys by the seat of his pants in terms of tactics and formations.I find it hard to believe no one in a position of power at the club can see through him and realise he is way out of his depth.He needs to go for his own good as well as ours.I like many others had hoped the change in coaching staff may have helped and do believe they are good coaches.From what I see we are caught in the pull of going down the plug hole we need to stem the flow.This post is not just about a poor result but is mainly about the direction in which we are heading.I am not looking to the past and thinking that is where we deserve to be,but am trying to look to the future and struggling to see the direction we are heading.

Disappointing start to the season. Firstly the owners have been very supportive of LFC, let's not forget that. Secondly the players are a good group of players i think some poor coaching of last season and tactics which are none existent or not clear, plus do we have the right players for the right system? is all a bit of a mess, i don't think many people understand their roles.

I supported brendan from the start, even though we came second, it seemed like a step in the right direction i couldn't shake the thought of would other managers of big teams lost the league that year? Why split centre backs? it came down to goal difference really and all year we conceded too many and somethimes dropped points. Even though we did so well things still didn't look concrete for me. I don't think BR was ever ready for LFC, i think he should go, not to say he couldn't be a good managed but i think ego and other stupid things get in the way. But i think it's got to a point really relationship with fans, the state of how we play. We need a new manager.

well today is the calm after the storm (so to speak) I refrained from posting yesterday as I thought anger would rule my post & it would look like I was just taking cheap shots at Mr Rodgers. In all fairness I have been a Rodgers supporter in the main & believed he could replicate the fluid attacking style of football we played in the 13/14 season. Iam now in the believe that this won't happen & can't see any light at the end of this very dark tunnel. Yesterday's match wasn't only a humiliating 3-1 defeat against in my opinion a very poor Manchester United side but was also a performance void of any ideas,conviction,or any tactical awareness. I spoke to a friend yesterday who was saying the stats at the end proved that we should have got a point!! nonsense. we lacked any type of cohersion at all & never looked like scoring, which has been the story of the season so far (except first half vs the gunners). my friend then when in to say we were missing a lot of first teamers too, & I agree I think henderson, lallana coutinho & studge would have been playing if fit, this is still no excuse in my eyes. ALL teams suffer injuries & have to deal with them yet we hide behind them & make excuses. can anybody tell me we would have won that game yesterday If they were fit?? henderson would have been the cdm & studge probably shifted to rwb. This is another major flaw I have with Rodgers he seems to think that he a master tactician who can fix any problem. THE PROBLEM IS HIM! playing ings as a lw is moronic i may b wrong here but can anybody tell me if he has played out there before?? Yeah he wrks hard & will track back but if that what u want play moreno there?? ings should have partnered benteke & give United something to think about. even when we went 2-0 down he still didn't put ings up top. He likes to think he clever by 'creating' new positions for players instead of actually playing them in there actual positions!! I can see a long season ahead with a lot of fall out with many players asking to leave if he stays in charge. I would really like to be proven wrong & get back to the free flowing football again but I think whilst he in charge we will be seeing 1 step forwards 3 steps back.

Sadness, overall. After a huge investment, Mr. Rogers has made a huge progress - the implosion happened at the 4th round, rather than the 3rd.
I see only one bright light in the tunnel - there ARE many good players in the club! This match however showcased once and for all that Mr. Rogers does NOT know what to do with them. Ings as a winger? WHY? Haven't we learned from the Borini fiasco? I firmly believe that we ruined the career of a rather good CENTRE forward, who would've been a fine partner for another striker. Same thing is happening with Ings now - and with Firmino. They do well, as did Marcovic before them - playing in a stiffled role, preventing them from making any meaningful impact on proceedings.
And the defense - atrocious. Four years and we still cannot defend. And again - it all comes down to tactics, and to a manager that cannot insipire his men for one of the greatest derbies.
I will say it again - WE HAVE GOOD PLAYERS. Not the greatest, but this limping, unbalanced squad is perfectly capable to challenge for the top four. However, we set up in a way that allowed the WEAKEST UNITED I have seen in a decade of watching the premier league to score three goals against us. United are currently not better than us - their squad is unbalanced as ours, they lack ideas up front, their defense will crack at some point, their strongest player still does not have his head right - midfield is the ONLY thing going for them, and again, things are not as rosy as they seem. And yet, we set up in a way that was a disaster waiting t happen. We gave them two goals, and towards the end allowed them space for a third. That is utter b*******. That is shouting "manager mistake".
Eds, a question for you - would you share your opinion on the current United squad and manager? It seems to me that they are weak, toothless, and imbalanced as a squad, with Louis Van Gaal starting to make mistakes, but still grounding out results. Thus it is painful seeing my beloved club even worse than them.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Not really the place for it but it makes better reading than anything about Liverpool right now. Looking at the summer buys: (1) Martial - a lot is expected of him, Guy Hillion had Chelsea in there talking about him when they were discussing loans with Monaco and they would have gone to €20M - probably a fair price and certainly their limit. Manchester United has paid well over the odds for him. (2) Schneiderlin - a very good player who will be fine. (3) Depay is a real talent but it is yet to be seen if he is really ready for a full season in England. Might be a year too early. (4) Darmain was of interest to MU last summer and would have moved to Chelsea as a replacement for Ivanovic if he had left this summer. Plenty of interest from the leading clubs in Europe - excellent buy although far from first choice at MU this summer. (5) I think Schweinsteiger was a dumb move - he should have chosen options he had in the United States. More than £15M a year wasges is pretty obscene in my view. (6) Romero is nothing special - journeyman goalkeeper and not a long-term solution. De Gea staying fouled up those plans and the whole matter should have been dealt with earlier. (7) Centre Back - putting aside the kiddie I know nothing of, this was probably the real mistake of the summer. Starting out looking for one and possibly even two centre backs and getting nothing was probably disappointing for many. Hummels was the primary although unrealistic target. There was a simple obtainable solution with Garay and Kongolo that could have been completed very early on. Even as a last minute buy, the affordable Nkoulou was being touted around. (8) They will look to add a striker - perhaps in January.

So a couple of risky buys, overspending and one pretty dumb buy - plus failing to address the CB issue. Probably not a bad summer if you are realistic.

As for the manager, he pissed off someone significant at the club fairly early last season and it was certainly touch and go for a while whether or not he would be retained. There is a third party who wanted to steer Ancelotti toward Manchester this past summer - either side would have done but his circumstances changed of course. Van Gaal has ostracized players over the years and has often been at odds with players of training regimes. My expectation is that he is no more than a short to medium term solution for the club - two or three years perhaps. If the club is sold that might well change.}

Edds I have heard this comment before suggesting that FSG might sell the club in 2017, and ihave heard a very successful money man say that after the ground development is completed LFC would be a sound investment and decent profit for FSG.Given our current state why would anyone want to buy us for the cost required to be a sound investment.i would appreciate your take on this

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The club would be a sound investment due to the additional income from sponsorship and from media (the new television deal will be providing a significant boost in funds). The stadium needed some rework but it will certainly not be providing any significant income even once the loans are paid off. 2017 will see the new television money and the value of English sides will be moving up to reflect that. The owners are certainly aware that the cost of running the club is far beyond what was anticipated by them. The club will be a good investment going forward, ceratinly until any breakaway league, and certainly whilst money is not being thrown at the playing staff as it has been - FFP is not going to disappear.

As for buyers, the value of some clubs will be too high to attract individual buyers which then leads to options for investment companies (similar perhaps to FSG), institutional investors (banks and insurance companies, perhaps from the Far East) or a gradual floatation on a Stock Exchange - again perhaps the Far East. Brokers would be appointed to plan the best strategy.}

"The club will be a good investment going forward, ceratinly until any breakaway league"

------------------

Considering LFC have not been invited to any talks for the breakaway league would pontential new owners not see buying Liverpool as risky? Would Liverpools value not drop if they were not in the breakaway league? Would the club still be able to attract the same amount of income (tv, sponsorship etc) if they were cut adrift from the new league? Do you expect Lfc to have talks in the future or indeed actually be "invited" into the breakaway league? I appreciate we are possibly still some years away from a European League but surely it must be still a consideration for new owners. I guess we could be multi premier league champs in seasons to come and then it might not be such a major issue! Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - When it eventually happens only a handful of sides will go with it, so it should not be too big a consideration.

There is every likelihood that the big money from television, sponsorship etc. would go with a breakaway league. It would completely rupture the operations of UEFA and I would expect it would require national associations like the FA to restructure their leagues. Nobody wants this but it is the eventual consequence I would expect, and in my view it would be best for the game in the longer term. Initially it could be that there is a single 16 team league with 2 or 3 EPL teams making the initial plunge. If I had to speculate, I would think (1) you might eventually see something like five or six EPL teams leave for two-tier pan European league - but it won't be based on the UEFA rankings; (2) the Premier League would be disbanded as an organisation; (3) the FA would restructure in to two 20 team divisions with lower leagues regionalised as they were many years ago; (4) FIFA would ban all players from the breakaway teams from International football - perhaps rescinding that position to stop FIFA breaking up as well. I could also see many teams lose their professional status. I would think we are still probably 10 years away from any significant move at this time although there are some efforts by certain teams to try to accelerate that process.

I hold a reasonably strong view in terms of the need to restructure football in Europe in any case. For me an eventual a breakaway pan-European league would force the restructuring of many of the national leagues, possibly resulting in a British league with perhaps only a couple of professional tiers and then regionalised amateur leagues below that. Financially I do not see that so many pro sides can be sustained within the sport which, like it or not, will see more and more money going in to the highest levels of the game. Governments will ensure that grassroots sport get funding but everything in the middle (Southern, Northern, Conference, Division 2, Scottish Divisions 1-3, League of Wales will not get the funding needed to continue on any sort of professional basis.

As it stands right now Liverpool will not be involved in any of the discussions - that may well change in the future, but not in the short-term.}

Hi Eds

First time poster on a great site. Well I have got to say, as much as it pains me to, our current league position is a true reflection of where we are as a club in comparison to the rest. We are mediocre and a mid table club as it stands.
The sad point is that we have some quality players that are being utilised in completely the wrong way.
1. Young Gomez at left back. I believe he is going to be a solid signing as a centre
Half/right back. When before he came to Liverpool did he play left back?? Yesterday exposed exactly why at elite level especially, you need balance in the side. In general, players playing in positions that they use their strongest foot. The tackle Gomez put in was rash and inexperienced, not having a go at him it's part of the learning curve. A naturally left sided player will have been more comfortable making that tackle and possibly won the ball.
Mr Rodgers is responsible for this mistake when you analyse it for playing him there.
but he has this awful habit of playing players out of their natural positions as stated earlier.
Why on earth did we buy Benteke if we were not going to play with width? Players that can get to the bye line and whip in driven balls that forwards/attacking midfielders love? Doesn't matter if it goes in the net off shin, knee, chest, or cause panic and defender put in own net.
I have been patient with BR but having followed the club since the late 60's Don't believe we have ever been this bad. Sadly it appears to be the coaching/tactics of our current manager. Thank you for your efforts BR, and I do believe you have tried, but you are not up to managing our great club.

Long as rant coming up here, gents, feel free to scroll past:

Rodgers has had no idea what to do tactically for over a year now. He, imo correctly, decided at the start of last season that the diamond system with Gerrard at the base firing direct passes and balls in behind wasn't workable long term, but he hasn't replaced it with anything. He started off with what looked like some horrible attempt to combine the direct game with his previous slower-tempo possession based game, but that didn't work and the forward players seemed to be confused as to whether they should move forward early in the play in the expectation of a Stevie long pass or come short for a short pass and it ended up devolving to pissing around at the back and occasionally hitting it long with no target. We got some success mid-season by setting up in an unusual shape and at least going back to firm short passing game. But we hardly tore opposition sides apart with the 343, and eventually teams caught on to how to cut off the spaces and we finished the season in as poor form as we started.

So far this season, he doesn't seem to know know who he should be playing, what shape to play them in, and what to have them do. We signed the best "big no. 9" style forward in the league, who isn't exactly devoid of pace either, and whilst we do occasionally go direct to him, we rarely try and knock balls in behind for him, or work it wide and get crosses into him. So how is he supposed to score? I appreciate we were never going to turn into a long-ball team for him, and I kinda wouldn't want us to, but we have to have some clear way of creating chances for him, especially when the only other player we have with any sort of decent goal record has a terrible injury record. We set up with a narrow midfield & attack, and then leave an attacking left back who could help stretch the play on the bench in favour of a right-footed center back who is not a threat going forward, so we only have any sort of width down the right side from Clyne. We're pandering to the desire of James Milner, who's played most of his career on the wing and could be an effective presence out there for us, to play central midfield where he works hard, but doesn't actually do anything.

Our gameplan, such as we have one, seems to be to work it intricately through the middle, but so far the tempo's been too slow and the movement not anywhere near good enough for that to work. Look at us at the back, it's beyond ponderous. The ball regularly seems to take the thick end of a minunte to find its way from Migs' gloves to Lucas' boot, and half the time he has nothing in front of him anyway and has to take about 17 touches before he can pass the ball forward. So what chance have we do have of playing quick passes under pressure around the opposition area to create space if we're that slow starting the play? And that's a problem that transcends formation, we can play 433, 343, 352, 442 diamond, we'd still be crap.

I appreciate we've sold Suarez and Sterling and basically lost the use of Sturridge due to injury, who were all crucial to how we played when we used the direct game, and had the individual talent to put a finish on our passing game for the first half of that season. But it was an open secret that Suarez was going, Sturridge's injury record was patchy from the day he arrived, and we opened the door for Sterling's agent by losing form and mishandling the entire contract situation last year. More importantly, we've had more than enough money to either buy replacements. And, imo, we actually have good players at the club still. Hendo - good player. Lucas - good player. Clyne, Benteke, Can, Coutinho, Sakho etc. They're all good players. Milner, Lallana & Firmino are probably quite capable if used correctly too. A competent manager should be able to get good performances from them.

I recently watched the highlights of us playing Man City in the League Cup in 2011/12 when Kenny was the manager. Parking the single definitive reason Kenny was sacked, you know, THAT reason, we still only finished 8th and had an amazing knack for hitting the post more often than scoring, so it was hardly a great Liverpool side. Our front three that day was Downing, Kuyt and Bellamy - the latter two well in their 30s I might add - so I'd say Lallana and maybe Ings or Ibe would've walked into that team, nevermind discussing whether the likes of Coutinho, Benteke or Sterling all of whom Rodgers has or had access to, would get in. Yet we created more chances in that game than I'd say the current Liverpool - and by current I mean since this time last season - create on average in five games. Is Kenny Dalglish a tactical mastermind? Well, 8th place and sacked. So you tell me. He just encouraged the team get the ball down and pass it around with a decent tempo, vary their movement and approach play rather than always trying to go through the middle, and not faff about at the back or do things like turtle up and play for a draw against an average Man Utd team managed by a nutcase.

It's not beyond the bounds of possibility we'll pick things up and improve over the season. But as things stand, we are in serious trouble. And I'm not knee-jerking after 5 games, we haven't played to any sort of decent level since we beat Manchester City at the start of March. That's dreadful, lads. Nothing short of dreadul.

Completely agree with all of this.

I think we have an excellent squad that a lot of our previous manager's mouths would have watered at, but the sense I get is that they are devoid of ideas or confused what they should be doing on the pitch, and this shows in the lack of chances created and our complete loss of the ability to control any game.

with technically poorer players, we have been better at doing both of these things in previous seasons. What is the problem? In some ways i hope it is the manager, because that would presumably mean a simpler fix than some other element of running a successful football team that we haven't yet identified.

We often excuse players for being in bad form when we know they have class. I remember hearing on the radio in the season we finished second that you could see BR ending up at Madrid or Barcelona at some point and that it was difficult to imagine hi being anything other than one of the very best managers over the next few years. Its easy to forget that. I'm not sure the point i'm trying to make, but the way he is struggling at the moment is comparable to many talented players who have had difficulty at Liverpool.

Joe, the diff is that said players work harder at getting better and improving because without that, no dice. Coaching at Barca or areal takes time and years of focus, hardworking, growing pains and determination. BR is not interested in getting there by following this process. BR thought he had arrived after the season we came second and his ego got overblown instead of remaining humble and keep trying to improve and learn from mistakes, just like players and top managers do. He is too busy doing everything else but his job as in, learning from mistakes, getting the best out of the players and his"my way or the highway" approach that got him the sack at Reading. The best he can hope for right now in Spain is coaching in La Segunda, not La Liga.

I thought fsg were supposed to be ruthless they took no time to act over roy and kenny but for some reason give rodgers every chance to succed and he blows it and thy till do nothing. Maybe they have one eye on 2017 exit but still they should be doing what's right for liverpool fc !!

Agree10 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea why they are so slow to act. It makes no sense to me. Rodgers is an embarrassment that constantly has to be pulled up over things he has done wrong. It is bizarre he is still in the job.}

Problem is tho, if Rodgers goes it will only be another Rodgers type that comes in.

Sadly fsg are the real problem and they clearly don't seam to fancy going after a top manager. If they know who one is?

They are advised by people as clueless as them.

I believe we have a good squad but we haven't go the players for 4-3-3

If Rodgers wanted to play 4-3-3 why didn't he buy wingers?

Having said this, even if we had 2 world class wingers we couldn't hold onto the ball long enough to pass it to them.

Again we can hate Rodgers all we like, the bloke is obviously not trying to loose, he can't help being an idiot.

FSG the guys at fault for me, yes they saved the club and are building a new stadium. So why with the personal do they fail every time. They need advise from someone who actually knows the game and act upon this advise.

Agree2 Disagree24

13 Sep 2015 11:11:55
As to why FSG don't replace BR - for me it is just very deep lack of understanding and knowledge of football. If you know nothing about the game you can look only on results and then say ok he had first season to settle down, an amazing second one and third year was poor but we still got close and also had very bad luck with Sturridge injured and we lost Suarez so overall not too bad.

When you have seen some football in your time, it is much easier to see this is not like that. That so much of the success of two seasons ago was down to Suarez, that it was still a trophyless season and that last year it is not only our results but how poorly we performed and how helpless BR was in doing anything about it and that managers are so influencial on this game and a helpless managers don't beocme Alex Ferguson just because you give them time. And if you understand a bit about football it is enough to see our first five games and that nothing has changed this season and that it is going to be another painful year and that we are as pathetic as ever and that with good refereeing we had by now 3 points from five games. But if you don't understand anything in football, you say to yourself ok, not a great start but we are still 2 points from 4th place let's wait for the summer and do another review.

And you can think that our poor signing record is down to porr procedures and has nothing to do with the manager (or if it is, setting a transfer comittee is the solution)

This is why I say, if you don;t understand football don't buy a football team.

Agree16 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Palpable nonsense. You think the owners of Manchester City, Manchester United, PSG, Juventus etc. understand football any more? You seem to have little understanding of the structure of the business and the club being one part of that - and for some reason want to blame the owners. Maybe they will take the exit strategy and sell the club to some nice institutional owners from China. After all, it is what the fans want - FSG out - and certainly what the fans like you deserve.}

13 Sep 2015 11:41:53
I couldn't agree more ed2 we are turning into bad supporters, the way some fans have behaved after last night is ridiculous, we lost a game of football, move onto Thursday and hopefully a win, there is nothing we can do about yesterday and I will keep saying it a change of manager guarantees absolutely nothing.

Agree0 Disagree14

{Ed002's Note - Exactly. I would have removed Rodgers in the summer, but the club decided not to. This over-reaction at every result is the personification of fickleness.}

13 Sep 2015 11:45:20
Yes I think the owners of City, United, Chelsea and other clubs understand football better or in any case they chose people who understand football better to run their clubs.

Tell me honestly ED002 do you think Abroamovich or the City owners or the united owners would keep BR last summer - we know very well they wouldn't. They just wouldn't accept mediocrity to go beyond one season, full stop, and rightly so given all the money they spend.

Fans want owners that act when things are consistently poor. If FSG can do something about it other than reviews great, if not, I am not threatened by them selling the club, even if it is to someone from China (what is wrong about owners from China by the way?).

And I am also a bit tired of you having a go at LFC supporters. You and edoo1 can slate BR and the team, and the performances etc but when the fans who really care about the team complaine about the unbelieveable gap between the money invested int eh team and its performance game after game year after year they are just group of whiners. But are we supposed to do, to demand BR get a contrct for another ten years to show our support of the team?

Agree14 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They would take advice and make a decision - as did the person responsible to the owners at Liverpool. He was given the name of a viable option as a new manager but the club decided they did not want to make a change. Whilst many Liverpool fans are obsessed with the owners and want them out, other clubs' fans understand better the relationship between the owners and the club. It was not the owners at Manchester United that took the decision over Moyes, it was the Board of the club - you simply should not bother posting anything about the running of the club as it is obvious you don't seem to understand the structure of the business at all.

If you are tired of me slating Liverpool supporters - the solution is the club needs better supporters, at least better informed supporters. Fickle to the extreme - idiots like you spewing hate of the owners, the management and the players. You are an embarrassment to the club and the decent supporters the club has.

Don't post any more of your ill informed nonsense today. And don't post anything in the future about how the club is run.}

13 Sep 2015 12:03:55
ed002 - You're not a liverpool fan, so you're probably loving the state of our club right now. I couldn't care less if that's how you feel!

Agree16 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Why should I care that Liverpool lost away at Manchester United yesterday - it is simply a game, no more. Then we get the idiot fans like you start suggesting that people should stop going to games. It is simply embarrassing reading that nonsense.}

Agree13 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - And why would anyone give a toss about idiots like you not showing up to a game? Perhaps setting a fire at the stadium would help get the attention of the owners?

This stuff is so embarrassing?}

13 Sep 2015 13:19:32
Ed02, so what do you suggest fans do, then? Just sit around and support bad decisions by the owners and manager? You yourself have said that he should have been gone in the summer and I agree but sadly, he was maintained. The blame for that is laid squarely at theirs, the board's and the consultants' desk. No more, no less. I agree the over reactive posts are unacceptable and fans not going to games is extreme. But what we should not accept is this idea of just supporting the manager when he has done nothing earn that, is just senseless. As a former competitive athlete, I despise losing especially when me or the team I support don't put up a fight and leave all on the field. That is acceptance of failure as the new normal and that my friend, I will NEVER accept and if that makes me a terrible fan then, sign me up.

I am only posting something from a fan's point of view and reiterating what you have posted as in, he should have been sacked and how this will end in tears if BR did not shape up, all the things that are happening now so again, what do you expect a fan like me to think with the shambles we are seeing?

After another lacklustre performance yesterday, it's time to give Rossiter & Sakho an opportunity. Both at least show some desire. Emre Can continues to worry me in midfield, we all thought he was going to be a replacement for Gerrard, but he doesn't seem to cut it.

We also need a manager who will at least instil some passion. Rodgers seems to want yes men in his line-ups which then reflects in the performances. Whoever gets the managers job next must get Gerrard & Carra back in the dugout. At least they would get some spirit going.

And to the people that are saying it's one result, blah blah blah move on till Thursday, hopefully we'll get a result then, My question is, did you say that after the West Ham game?

I care enough about LFC to have an opinion, FSG are not going to listen to our opinions otherwise they would of listened at the end of last season, but they didn't they stuck with him.
So please stop going on as if our opinion matters, because it doesn't.

I've supported him all last season and hoped with the introduction of a new backroom staff that things would improve but it's still the same no change, playing Danny ings and firmino as wingbacks and persisting with skertle and lovern is enough for me, my patience has gone, which Rodgers needs to be aswell

Agree13 Disagree0

Mighty reds I think you get our loyalty as fans wrong. We are not BR's supporters we are LFC supporters. If we think BR is bad for the team, it is not only our right to protest it is our duty.

I always bring United as an example, they sacked Ron Atkinson and brought Alex Ferguson mid season and they did the same with Moyce (after less than one season) and bring LVG. Two decisions that most people agree were very good for the club and were very much in line with United's fan protest.

Yes there is no guarantee a new manager will bring us trophies but it is guaranteed the current manager will not - what is there to lose?

{Ed002's Note - So the owners, Rodgers and Firmino out. Who is it you support? Andre Villas-Boas is effectively available.}

Morning fellow Reds & Eds,

I may be wrong and it matters not now anyway. But on Martial's goal yesterday was Fellaini not in an offside position under the new rules? He was ahead of the last defender running in towards Migs as the shot was made although not really interfering with play, that does not come into play now - was he offside?

There was so much made of Coutts on Bentekes goal against Bournmouth although he made a play for the ball it was said that didn't matter as he was in an offside position and any player interfering or not would be called offside.

I know we got the luck then but so much was made of it but when it's Martial's debut goal and its Man Utd not a word.

BTW - when we going to get a proper manager? Wasted money in transfer market, bad tactics, players playing out of position its rolling on from one season to the next in fact the performances are getting worse. - I can't see us above mid table this year with Rogers. When he came in he sold Andy Carroll saying he did not fit into his style of play - this year he spends £32m on Benteke a similar player to Carroll so how does he fit in when Carroll didn't.

Believable3 Unbelievable8

13 Sep 2015 08:21:41
I think you misunderstood. Benteke was not bought to fit in his style or change to a new style.

A big powerful physical monster up front who could hold the ball well and physically surrender the opposition CB, Who could also shoot from distance and has a good goal scoring records.

We were never going to change the style.

I have always give Rogers a chance. When I saw the line up for the match, I assumed it was a 4-4-2 diamond, as did the commentators. I hope we the fans can get a chance to question Rogers before he's fired. I would love to ask him WHY? Why would he play Firminho and Ings out wide just to play defensive? Why would he not play attacking players in their best roles? Why did he not play Ibe if he wanted a wide player to play defensive as well? Why can he not see what everyone else can see? Why does he try to be defensive when he has a bad defense?
Firminho is wasted on the "wing" Benteke needs a 2nd striker, or someone coming in for a short pass when he holds the ball up. I have been very impressed with Benteke so far, he wins the ball, holds it while looking to move it to another player, but there's generally no one there.
Firminho looks lost playing out wide, and soon he will lose any passion or interest for playing for Liverpool.
Its time for Rogers to resign!!!

As others have said Andy, square pegs in round holes. I think we've got a half-decent squad, which, when playing under a better manager, would do OK. Millions of bucks spent, but the one buck spent that really counts is the spent buck in charge. I will be surprised if the owners make a change so soon after backing him with new players and staff, and I would be even more surprised if he resigns; he should have gone at the end of last season after the disgrace at Stoke. I fear we could be submitting many more WHY? posts like yours for a while yet, but you never know.

Ed once said that, BR has never fancied playing two up and even last night, he did not after going two down. What does that tell you? He's stubborn won't learn and will keep doing things his way until the owners step in. Same thing happened at Reading and the owner didn't allow himself to be duped and fired him. FSG should have consulted him instead of MG

Hello Reds.

It is getting really painful to watch our team play.Few midtable teams have better GK than ours.I never saw Mignolet making any crucial saves in past few seasons.
Mignolet is not for top clubs and he is not a sweeper keeper.And Milner is not a Leader to inspire us,we are lacking players with passion.

Eds how can we perform insipidly when teams with less resources and with less good players are not only performing better but with substance?
Now it makes me question was this the same Rodgers who took us to 2nd place or he was lucky enough to have player like Suarez and was lucky that season

Ed002 who was suggested as alternative to Rodgers?

imv not going to blame the players for all these bad performances , its the manager pure and simple , its his team , his tactics and his selections , players can't help being not good enough ,

we have shipped in 6 goals in 2 games , what does BR do he keeps the same defence and keeps players playing out of position , this man is a fraud he must realise that skertal got ripped apart by a kid who has never played in the prem before in his life , its time for BR to go , or do the owners keep letting him embarres the clubs fans by these performances ,

skertal , and lovren should not play for the next few games , sakho and tiago should be in defence , or sakho and gomez , then the goalie would have a better defence infront of him , lucas has shown how bad he is just like the other bad players , ,

we should play a 4-4-2 with benteke and origi , have wingers putting in crosses for them because that way we would get more goals than were getting now

Who are the genuine wingers?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you wouldn't know what a winger was if John Barnes ran up and slapped you in the face Harry, you think it is all about pace. Pointless discussing football with you.}

13 Sep 2015 05:48:43
As much as I love you Ed01, we played Lallana there and failed. Milner is not playing wide out that leaves only IBE and he is sure playing there.
Did I miss another name mate? Whom do you suggest to play in the flanks?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - so why not just play Milner there? And Ibe. Recall Markovic. Or just play them in a way that suits the players.}

13 Sep 2015 06:03:49
Well you know that's not happening this season better than anyone. Milner wouldn't play wide and that's certain. He wants to play centrally and he is here to play centrally.

Ibe is the only winger we have and Markovic was never in his plans ( not sure if you could recall ) but what's the use. Whose getting dropped?

We are the only team in the league to play 3-4 CM every weak and gets beaten in the middle hands down. Hilarious that is.

We never controlled the game yesterday and one reason we couldn't. Doesn't have the right players to control the game.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is nothing to do with the players, it is tactical issues. They are being restrained by woeful tactics.}

13 Sep 2015 07:08:56
Might be a tactical issue but tbh I am not confident on any of the midfielders we have to do the job.

We missed Allen yesterday and I am not sarcastic here, someone who could Keep the ball, short passes.,always an option for your CB to pass to you, slowly but steadily keep the tempo of the game. Take the ball away from UTD, frustrate their midfielders, keep possession and slowly build an attack.

If Milner / Can / Henderson are designed to do this duty then we are in big trouble for the season.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - the same Allen that never showed for any of the CB's hence Sakho having to dribble past half the United team last season? He does none of the things you claim. He adds nothing to the team, he is just a slower, shorter Milner. Lots of running around to little or no effect.}

13 Sep 2015 08:04:11
An upgrade on Allen was my wish which never happened in the summer. But a player like Allen is what we are missing in the middle ( that could be himself )

Skrtel and Lovren had no choice other than passing to Migs as our midfielders could never be an option for them.
We lack there and we ll always lack in that area.

The way in which Carrick receives the ball from his CB and picks the player ahead made my cry ( how old is he 36? )

I would like to know what Ed 1 has to say about todays game, tacticks and performance of the team. Also, if this medicority continues and we are a mid table team at Christmas , which I wouldn't be suprised by , do you think FSG will consider sacking Rodgers ? thanks for any reply and for great work on the site.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - there is nothing to say about that, it was embarrassing. The worst Man Utd side of my lifetime, without a striker worthy of the name, and Rodgers goes for a draw. It is like Hodgson is back. The worst of it is, that United side is awful, yet they were light years ahead of us! It is clear that the time is long overdue for a new manager, Mike Gordon has to hold his hands up and admit he is a complete idiot for giving Rodgers another season and more millions to spunk away on players he has no idea how to use. Sadly though, I expect him to get a bit longer yet, it will have to get worse before he is sacked.}

13 Sep 2015 09:13:51
Completely agree ed01, you've summed it up perfectly there. It's time for the owners (and Gordon) to take responsibility for keeping BR in his position.

Yesterday was a complete embarrassment and I don't put much weight in pundits comments but nearly to a man they all looked stunned at how poor we were.

I'm completely gutted!

How can it get any worse? We've played like this for over a year now.

i reckon if we left the players just to play themselves without listening to Bodgers I really do think the players would play better than following Bodgers technical genius tactics.
Please someone post FSG contact details.

Is it just me who thinks that GK is one of our biggest problem positions?

Every kick / throw seems to end up with the opposition bringing immediate pressure back onto the defence.

We aren't great defensively at the moment but Mignolet is making things much worse.

Johnny

unfortunately the biggest problem was 2 years ago, Suarez totally covering up BR's ineptitude. Suarez banked a couple of years credit for him.

its just you. there are a lot more pressing issues than the gk. i agree that we need an upgrade but that is not the most pressing need at this point

Its come to the point where I actually want Coutinho to leave so he can enjoy a successful career and have everyone be regarded as one of the worlds best because he's not getting anything under BR

No worries, you will not have to wait long for your wish to come true. Nest summer if not before. And today was a good opportunity to see how we look without him (not that with him last time around we looked better). Benteke will not stay much longer with the (lack of ) service he gets.

Mg might be the 2nd biggest share holder in fsg but he's also the idiot whos cost fsg millions more by letting that moron br still be in charge that in itself should be a sackable offense!!

I think you miss the point. You can't sack an investor. I suppose Henry could ask him to step down or maybe return to the Red Sox side, but that seems rather unlikely to happen. Reality is I don't see Rodgers going anywhere for a while yet. I suspect it'll take a sustained run in the bottom half of the table to trigger any movement, at least until next summer.

I wonder who will get sacked first michael gordon (or whatever his name is) for keeping rodgers on or rodgers new coaching team for not getting his bizzare tactics. Cause it looks like rodgers is untouchable!!

Our immediate concern is not the keeper, the defence, the attackers or the coaches. Our main position which needs an upgrade is the manager
