Back 4 has been terrible this season

And Man City have been terrible this season...
The back four have been the only slight positive this season

Don't be at it.

Was fine before Christmas, but Agger missed some games through injury (surprise, surprise) and Enrique's performances dipped, which disrupted the defence a bit.

Adam/Spearing providing inferior defensive cover to Lucas after he got injured probably didn't help either.

Reckon we need more cover at left back so Enrique's not needed every game, other than that we're okay though. Jonno & Kelly are fine at RB. Skrtel's good. Agger's good. Coates will be brilliant, and Carra's good enough for backup, just so long as we don't need him for 40 games a season anymore.

I'm still having a hard time getting my head around this Martinez attraction people have.

People want him to come in and 'rebuild' the club. Okay, but the same people aren't prepared to give Kenny more than a season to do that. How long does a rebuild take? How long does Martinez get? And yes, I know Kenny's had a season and a half, but only really a season where he's been in from the start. If that's how we treat a club legend who's won nearly everything as a manager, how are we going to treat Martinez, who, basically, has won nothing? Just because he's younger doesn't mean he's automatically going to be better equipped to clear out dead wood and rebuild.

So how long is a rebuild? Where does Martinez have to finish next season if we get him for people to not want him out?

- Something Red -

I'm with you on this , Roberto Martinez has finished 16th twice and now 15th . Both Norwich & Swansea have done better .

Roberto Martinez has to do a lot more to justify the praise he has been receiving in my opinion .

We've been rebuilding for 20 years. Kenny lacks tactics & I don't trust him with money anymore!!

It's simple. Look at the way we play. Then watch the way Wigan play.

Hire him. Then evaluate at end of season. Just like we did with Kenny. Not that complicated.

Di Matteo shows you don't need "five year plans". You need someone who understands tactics, and can motivate people.

Martinez is very good with the media, and comes across far better than kenny , i do not want him as manager. though.

I clearly remember last year, the glowing praise Owen Coyle was getting here as a potential replacement for Hodgson. He didn't do much this year, and Bolton is relegated. Just like players, we must guard against one year wonders in coaches and managers. I say stay the course with KD. Everything needs time. ra1969

Who's to say the players are going to be motivated to play for someone like Martinez?

We don't exactly play poor football under Kenny, though do we? If you think otherwise then you need your eyes tested.

And for Di Matteo this year, see Kenny last year. Didn't translate into the season we all expected this time around, though did it?

So we give the manager one year to get it right and then toss him out if he doesn't? And then the next one? And the next one?

Madness, absolute madness.

I knew some of my fellow Reds needed to take a reality check, but this is ridiculous.

- Something Red -

Something Red - Excellent post my friend, exactly what I have been thinking.

The anti-Kenny crowd obviously want the manager revolving door. Two managers per season. I wish them good luck on that one.

13 May 2012 23:36:29
Our next manager needs to have experience with top quality sides as Martinez, Rodgers etc will NOT be bringing in top class players they will target players they are used to managing and those players will turn us into a official mid table team. these managers do not win titles, they save relegation candidates (remeber hodgson).

Simple solution to satify those that want Kenny out, AND those who want a proven manager:

Rafa Benitez.

Rafa is also shyte. Don't want him back to take us back to long ball game. We've left that behind to return to the pass & move philosophy of old.

13 May 2012 23:30:27
Am I the only one who didnt want City to win? Now they have they will literally take over the world, they have the money, the players and now the league so could sign anyone they like. I for one hate the idea of that as its possible they'll now reach 19 titles before we ever do.

Mr Red

FFP will bite them unless they go with a serious youth/ academy approach. They have 6 or 7 players on their books getting ridiculous money that are surplus to their requirements. What team could afford their wages alone. Adebayor, Bridge, Santa Cruz, Korolav, Kolo toure and Tevez. A.Johnson is also surplus and if they buy this summer 3/4 players which they will, you'll have another 3 or 4 next year joining this lot as un-afordable surplus(Nasri, Lescott, Milner spring to mind) Home grown rule also has to be adhered to. I can't see them sustaining it doing what they are doing. No league team or CL for that matter can afford 2.5- 3M a week is salaries never mind the fees and bonuses they're on.

I am happy if Voldemort and ten others win the league just to see the look on United fans' faces. Priceless.

Chelsea were supposed to dominate English and European footie from 2004 on too, don't forget. It's more complicated than that.

Signings I Would Like To See;

Luuk De Jong(12 Million)
Momo Diame(Free)
Gaston Ramirez(16 Million)
Junior Hoilett(Free)
Clint Dempsey(8 Million)

I can assure everyone, LFC will not sign Momo Diame for two Very Important reasons...

Its ridiculous why people think we should be looking at players from the relegated clubs, we are liverpool, we want the best not players from clubs who have been relegated, they arent good enough for us! get a grip people

It doesn't matter where a player comes from. If he's good then he's good. Joe heart. Bale. Walcott. Walker. Oxlade chamberline. Shelvy. Just to name a few players from a huge list that successfully made the step up. Give players a chance and liverpool might be the home of the next best player in the world. Kyle walker only played about 5 pro games befor spurs got him and look at him now. Patiance from the fans and a chance from a manager is all a player need to be great. I also hope kk stays. I believe he's almos there with the squad judge him this time next year.

So because a team gets relegated they have not even 1 or 2 good players.. ur talkin bs

Heard all this crap about Kenny off some of you fans before, Lucas springs to mind, now he is one of the best defensive midfielders in the league.. Haha two faced muppets some of you lot, honest to god. Pathetic..

Fans make mistakes but we are fans and not real experts like kenny etc who is not much better than us fans is he ?

Lucas was far from good at LFC in his first three seasons, after a long long time and faith from Rafa he has turned into a good player. He had to develop into a position that he was never used to playing. So take your tongue out of his bottom hole. Fans having a go at other fans because they lost faith in a player that took three years to mature in our league. Some take longer than others but three seasons is a long time in the EPL, some never make it, lucky for us he is now a good player.

Jus a quick question, i was wonderin about the badge change. Now its jus the Liver Bird, when we play on Sky or ESPN, does that now mean that they will show jus the Liver Bird for our badge or will they still be using the old badge with the Shankley Gates and Hillsborough Memorial?

Carb

Hmmmmmmmm good question .. yh the liverbird cause look at chelsea their crest changed.. gonna look so weird love the crest doe old school like the whole jersey.. but glad the torches are still there and the 96 is even better

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2132819/Matt-Lawton-Interview-Roberto-Martinez--man-shook-season.html

For anyone who hasn't read this it's a good insight into Martinez who I have previously talked up as a possible LFC manager.

IF we go for him now I expect KD to remain in some role and for the King to "sell" it to the fans as he's done his bit, he'll not be managing again, he's now going to assist the man who's the "future" of the club. This gives KD a dignified way out (completely in keeping with his tone since he returned to serve the club as manager) whilst giving the owners the bright young manager they want to take the club forward. I had my doubts about the Star/People stories this morning but this is a scenario I can now see happening as my problem with KD was that I couldn't see the owners sacking him. A managed handover involving two honourable and dignified men has its attractions. A few lines in the article allude to Martinez's nod to history, his desire to have people around him who care passionately for a club etc....

Could be a goer this one...

13 May 2012 22:29:23
Just a thought but if KD is going to get the sack for the way the Suarez situation was handled and not because of the state of the season as some people are saying then the owners should pack up and sell cause they ran and hid during the whole saga there wasn't one word from then during the whole thing. Personally I think Martinez is a good manager but I can see it turning out like RH out of his depth. If there is no decent replacement for KD available then give KD another year. Thanks Eds keep up the good work.

I'm not sure what to say, I'm a neutral in the Kenny camp I understand both arguments for Kenny staying and going and it is down to FSG who are no mugs and will have a good idea on what there going to do and for the right reasons.

It has been a strange year and what worries me was the consistency and the inability to build on a good result, along with the woodwork and Suarez controversy I don't we will see anything like it for a long time.

Y.N.W.A what ever happens -McMenemy

Totally agree McMenemy mate. FSG will know what's best for the club. Whether that means keeping Kenny or getting someone new, then so be it.

I can't say it enough. If we get Tixi Bergistain in as DOF he could be the answer to all our problems.

Reports have suggested that the loss to swansea may be the last day in charge for KD as he will step down as manager and take an more adminastritive roll within the club. Most likely sucessors are roberto Martinez, brendan rodger, gus poyet

What reports?

I know it's been an awful season but making Kenny our new secretary is harsh...

Every time we lose the kd crap comes up .. when we win nothing is said .. was very little said after 4-1 thrashing of chelsea .. i personally dont mind anymore sick of it if he stays fine just do it proper this time and if not get a well est. manager not some splash in the pan like some ppl are mentioning .. we learnt nothing from these one season wonders we bought.. i want players with more than one good season and same for managers ...

13 May 2012 22:11:46
Well, if im honest, im glad the campaign is over. Its been pretty awful. Thats not to say i want Kenny sacked, but i would say that his team need to hit the ground running from the very start next season or he will face the bullet very quickly. I dont agree with ed002 theory that it shows weakness by the owners not sack the manager if they dont reach their targets. We could be sacking managers every year if thats the case, paying out compensation & starting anew every year, possibly with a load of new players. Where does it end? We weren't in the top 4 last year or the year before that & thats not Kennys fault. Years of underinvestment, players wanting to leave etc hasnt helped our cause. There are still players that need shipped out such as Aqua, Maxi,Kuyt,Cole,Aurelio and replaced with quality. There are also guys that need to step up next year like Downing, Adam & Carroll or they could well be following Kenny out the door.

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - Please point me at the post where I gave my theory "that it shows weakness by the owners not sack the manager if they dont reach their targets".}

If someone is not fulfilling the remit of their job, why should they not be sacked?

Maybe because the remit is over 2 or 3 years?

It wasn't over 2 or 3 years.

So It has certainly been interesting listening to all of your rumours and to be honest I have not got a clue what is going to happen with KK , transfers etc.
I have been largely disappointed this season. I just hope whatever happens we can hold on to Suarez because I can tell you one thing for certain , if our owners decide to cash in instead of build around him we are in serious serious trouble.

U can hear writing?? amazing ha.. just messing i hear what your saying very true...

Mancini's men win the Premier League.

Well paid, City. Well paid.

( not mine but made me chuckle )

As for liverpool.... i dont know what too say? Things need to be sorted, whatever they may be, just so it doesnt happen pre season. I dont envy those who have to make the decisions.

Keep faith, remember, we was 1 day away from administration 18 or so months ago, and now we are looking at profits and new stadium ideas.

13 May 2012 21:59:35
To all those wanting Kenny out and shouting for the likes of Martinez: Didn't Wigan lose ten games on the run earlier in the Season? Their chairman and supporters kept faith with Martinez; when he could so easily have been sacked.
Think about that one? When your calling for Kenny to be sacked. You havn't got as much faith as a Wigan supporter.
We used to be classed as the most knowledgable and fairest supporters in the land? What now? One season and almighty clamour for change, well sorry to disappoint you! Kenny is staying.

Wigan did not had £120 million. With kenny in charge next season we will be relegated

Liverpool are miles away from a title probably 6 players and 125m that's being realistic defence is ok midfield keep Lucas gerrard the rest are subs at best Suarez is quality needs help Carroll isn't anywhere near consistent enough so we aren't exactly appealing to a big name manager but someone like Koop could be persuaded maybe as we are a massive club if you talk numbers worldwide and he may see us as the springboard he needs to push on as Dortmund seem to be about to lose there star players and Liverpool could be the ideal club for someone wanting to build a new dynasty. Kevoooo

13 May 2012 22:26:14
Roberto Martinez is an extremely good manager and Swansea wouldn't be in the Premier League if it wasn't for him who got them from lower league 1 to higher Championship in a couple of seasons. He was then moved to Wigan which seemed an impossible job and everyone thought they were certain to be relegated just about every year but he has saved them every year. This year he has beat some top clubs - not just by luck but with general football tactics. I believe he would be a brilliant manager if he was brought here and believe we should give him time if he does decide to come. Obviously I back Kenny Dalglish if the owners decide to keep him but I would love to have Roberto here.

BthekingB

13 May 2012 22:25:41
Quick note- Rafa finished behind Moyes in his first season, he also finished outside the top 4 after inheriting a top 4 squad.
You don't do well in the league unless you're consistent. Patience pays dividends. Anyone can see we've played well this season but have not scored the goals. Stick with the team, stick with Kenny and you will see more consistency. Sack him and take another step back.
The Quaggar

He also won the champions league

Yeah but he didn't spend 110 million!

I'd like to know where this 110 million number everyone seems fixated upon came from...

Net spend was far less, correct?
And net spend is what balances the books, which is the main purpose of our football club at this point - to become self-sustaining, right?

McSnuggles

Benitez won 2 trophies minus league title in his 6 years stint and you all want him back? 6 years!

7th was a vast improvement?

To be fair mate, from what i'se seen on this site in particular, we've had no better than the 8th best support, so it stands to reason...

team for next season with new manager
reina
johnso/replacment

skrtel
enrique/new lb who can compete wiith him
lucas gerrard
munain
new pacy tricky winger
soldado
suarez

bench-downing caroll henderson coates doni cara new striker new midfielder creative and yuk the rest

That looks like a great team Munian is quality, soldado is a goal scorer, enrique needs someone to put him under pressure and we are in DESPERATE NEED of a tricky creative pacey winger like belhanda or elia. We look much more competitive with that team.

kenny is a kop legend in the true meaning but he has been out the the game to long and as hard as it is to say this he does need to step down as manager as he has lost touch with the modern game he will always be a king but i think he would be better used in the boardroom. we need a manager that knows the modern game inside out not the past..

13 May 2012 21:41:37
ive read many posts on here , about new players and new managers , what gets me is that if we want win the prem or get 4th place , then you will need the right manager , and the only manager for me and to get us back on top is jose mouriniho ( spelling) he is the man who will take us back to the top , not wigans manager , plus players will come to our club if he was manager , i know this is a pipe dream , but its also a fact , as sad as it is,,,,,,,,,,,mickey b

Very true, Martinez will not be attracted world stars, he's never worked with one in his career!

Why would Mourinho come to us? It's like him taking over at Mallorca, Wolfsburg or Parma. All finished in the same position as us. It just won't happen.

its time for fsg to either back him or sack him!no half hearted transfer funds.giving kenny just enough to buy some more average premiership players isnt good enough.who ever the manager is needs proper funds to go for top players like muniain soldodo ramerez adam johnson or susaeta possible ventonghen.before someone says why should come to us the answer is cause we are liverpool football club if we pay the money they will come!just like money brought most of them players that won the league for city today!show us the money fsg!

Ed016 fsg have got the money!thats is what comolli told liverpool fans on the train coming back from the league cup final i was told.he also asked this group of fans fsg want to know if kenny is the right man to spend it!thats just what i was told.

Eds first time posting what positions will we look to strengthen please? I'm not to sure whether these young first team players are ready to challenge now there good for micky cup games and lesser pl teams but not good enough to start wk in wk out they should be there for backup in a rotational setup. do you agree? I really hope we get some good class acts this summer we really need to challenge for champions league again, I miss those champions league nights :( bring on next season !! {Ed016's Note - I am hoping for some good signings this year. Liverpool will be a lot smarter, the fact that Tottenham could qualify for CC proper is a downer for me. I would have prefered Chelsea to just get it because they have money to sign people no matter what, Spurs got what we really needed to drastically improve, but it is ok, one more season can't hurt life time fans}

I come in peace...
But to all Dalglish lovers:

I have a question for you:
Seriously what do you think will change to the better if Kenny remains in charge?

I am really interested to hear you answers because I can't really see any reason to why he should stay on as manager...

Serious answers appreciated.
(Also it would be nice if one of the Eds could give an opinion on this matter.)
Cheers
Philip

I think he needs to step down he is not up to speed with the modern game he will always be king kenny but i think he would be better used in the lfc boardroom

What would come good if he is sacked?? if anything kneejerk reactions can do more harm than good

He will buy new players now that the British base is established. Lucas return, Carroll new form.
AnfieldUSA

I think the issue isnt that black and white, dalglish hasn't performed a miracle. But only being able to speculate from the outside is that the owners have clearly swung the axe and fired who they think are the reason behind the flaws this season, they know that consistency has to come from somewhere... And while dalglish is in charge they have time, who ever gets the job is a gamble these days, albeit an educated one...you would hope... I won't be suprised if he stays or goes and I wouldn't be suprised if we are any more or less successful with a different manager, fingers crossed!
Lfcmatt

I think one more season. if we dont get top 4 I believe he will step aside. We have a tradition of giving our managers time. (albeit Roy Hodgson) I believe its only fair and proper that Kenny be given another year. When you consider Carroll was not at the races for most of the season, downing and henderson didnt settle either. Gerrard was injured, adam didnt play to the best of his abilities. Then the suarez affair and ban..A lot of things went aginst us. Whether the summer signings were comolli signings is another thing that must be taken into acc. I think Kenny will be given a year. I hope he is. He has a transfer window and targets that he wants to bring in. The team he assembles and puts on the pitch next year will be the team that he has created alone. No excuses next year. and the results at the end of next season will be a true reflection on whether or not Kenny is the man for the job. I think he will get it right.

I'd be happy for Kenny to stay on for another season.
His cv as a manager can only be described as impressive and I think he'll know exactly where things have gone wrong and will attempt to get things right.
Surely we owe him the chance to do that, don't we?

Chris in Tamworth

I think kenny should stay for one more season. Kenny is a good manager and will put it right next season. The players attitude must change. Look at how they played against Chelsea (league game) that was a match worth fighting for to ease the pain of the FA Cup. If we play with that much heart every game next season we will make top4, especially with the right signings this summer.

It's just my opinion, so I'm sticking with KD for another season.

Mr dalglish is a great man,no question,100% loyal to liverpool f.c.,unlike others..(mark lawrenson)..But there comes a time when you have to sit back and evaluate.L.F.C. football the last couple of months has been dreadful, with the odd glimpse of excellence. Now i would support and watch liverpool win, lose or draw,As long as the team fight 100% for the cause,And lets be honest, thats not happening at all,There needs to be a major overhaul of liverpool f.c....and i think that needs to start from the manager down,we can't let sentiment to be involved either,i think its time our captain supremeo to move on also, just can't run the game like he used to,cash in while we can,i want liverpool fighting for cups, fighting for titles, but this is not going to happen if we dont take a new direction...Thanks kenny...your a great man..

I don't mean this in an aggressive way, a genuine question. What do you mean unlike lawrenson? (I'm a younger fan>

Question for all you reds fans. If KD wasn't associated with Liverpool in the past & had no connections to the club before becoming Liverpool manager, would you still want him in the job?

Gav the Red

ps - KD had a worse home record than Hodgson!

The same question that I posted earlier
Personally I think that if it was anyone else they would be sold

Id still want him to stay cos i dont judge after just 1 season i give a man a chance.

You're totally right, if he had no connections then people would be screaming blue murder about the job he has done. I think we are about to see what FSG are made of, if as I think they will do nothing and leave well alone then I think that's it for Liverpool Football Club as a main player for the next few years at least. If they change things then they obviously mean business. Nobody can say that Kenny has done a good enough job this season and I'm not buying the transition nonsense either, lots of other teams go through transition and still manage to perform well enough in the league to keep the fans happy. We won the league cup, so what, the cups have been and always will be a bonus and a good day out. We all, if we are honest know what we want and that's a competitive team in the league because right now this second we are seriously mid table and we know it. If everyone is happy with that then fair enough, I'm not and I think most of you aren't either.

Give the man a chance? He's had 18 months...

KD had a better record than RH with last year's sqaud when they both managed the club in 10/11. If RH was managing this sqaud we would finish below 10th. The players have let KD down and must step up next season.

What is all this talk about tactics, anyway? Only average to mediocre and defensive park-the-bus small teams talk of "tactics".

For LFC, we go out to dominate and beat the crap out of teams. That has always been our "tactics" in the heydays because we were that good. That, my fellow fans, was what Kenny was trying to bring back.

After a decade of "tactics", it is obvious that Kenny would take a bit longer than just 18 months to get us back to playing attacking and dominant football and winning with it.

I say, give Kenny another season.

13 May 2012 21:02:14
Liverpool announce freeze on match ticket prices, is this because we are about to sell our main stars (Suarez) and lower expectations for next season by bringing mid-table players?

We already have enough mid table players

...is that what you think? {Ed016's Note - not at all}

People like you make me sick always try and be as negative as possible

It's a nice gesture to the fans - "We aren't raising ticket prices."

Jesus, you'd think some of these people were the conspiracy theorists and not me!

Amazing how half the these who post on here slated Lucus for years and now worship him like hes Messi.
Who'd knew

Thats probably because until maybe late last season and early this he was a joke. Would YOU have been putting him in the side ahead of Alonso or Mascherano. I'm pretty sure Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola still wouldnt, let alone 2, 3 or 4 years ago.

Yes he has improved but please remember the way things actually were.

I always had confidence in the lad, can't say the same about henderson

Henderson is actually better than Lucas was in his first year. That much i can confirm.

None of those are good enough

^^^ How do you know they are not good enough? Can you buy a player from Japanese 2nd division? Because that was where Dortmund bought Kagawa from.

In football, sometimes you need to take some risks 'cos you never know.

13 May 2012 20:42:35
Nobody is over scouting Younas Belhanda. He is suspended for the last few games of the season. He is exactly what we need. (playmaker better talent than hazard and half the price. someone big is gonna get him this summer and I hope to god its u. ). Him and Jackson Martinez (striker). Give Kenny a year.

13 May 2012 20:42:30
Did we play well for most league games?
I think we did, but not enough to win (score)

Has our football been better?
I think it has

Downing got no assists, would he have if someone converted?
I think yes

Was Lucas a big miss?
Never ever ever thought Id say this but yes

Should the scoring issues and def mid been addressed in jan?
Defo, and because of this will be kennys wake up call or nail in his coffin.

We are not as bad as 8th, we're not 4th either but a few adjustments and hopefully we can do it. Unless others leave then Im praying for miricles.

Dublad

Dublad.ask yourself this question honestly.how many of the top 6 teams would have lucas in their starting eleven every week? my thoughts are maybe 2 of them but "only" if their starting midfielders in that position where injured.so then dublad,what does that tell you {Ed016's Note - You know nothing about football? He had the highest rates of tackles and completed passes for us for a long time after he was injured. If you seriously still doubt Lucas and his ability you need to pull your head out of the sand}

Wise words from Ed 016.

13 May 2012 20:41:25
Kenny is making progress LOL! What a complete mess what a shambles he has delivered! Level with Jols Fulham behind Moyes Everton and he broke our transfer spending record to achieve that!

Time to Go

I can only hope that fans like you don't go to the stadium to watch and "support" Liverpool. Your negative vibes are enough to bring down any team.

13 May 2012 20:58:23

Just my opinion on the season. The positives - obviously a good 2 cup runs. We beat quality teams on the way to both finals, and deserved to win the games we did, and in my opinion, unlucky to lose the FA cup final to Chelsea. Secondly, all the so called big teams we played, we either held our own, or dominated. We did the double over Chelsea, should have done over arsenal, two good teams. We have shown that we can beat anyone on the day. There were alot of changes in the summer, so would expect some time to adapt to a new club and team mates.

Another positive is the metamorphosis of Andy Carroll. We can breathe a sigh of relief that we weren't mugged by Newcastle after all, and can look forward with optimism instead of worry.

The negative is obviously our league form. Well, our league results anyway. We rarely got outplayed, but there were about half a dozen games where in my opinion, the players looked like they didn't care too much how they were playing. It is those games where I feel kenny played his part in letting us, and himself, down.

Is half a dozen bad games worthy of getting the sack? No. Simple as. Six out of 50 odd isn't bad with a new team, and let's not forget he's not been back in for that long. He's got the team playing better than they have done for a very long time.

The so called lesser teams that have beaten us have mostly done a smash and grab, us having played them off the park for most of the match. It's the teams that park the bus that we have trouble beating. I believe that what we need is 2 'world class' creative midfielders, and a striker, as many have said. Howevere, I also think 'squad players' won't be good enough, we will need real quality. If they are of sufficient quality, we will shine. If they are of the Moses, McCarthy mould - and nothing against them, I think they are both very good players - just not the quality that we need to get to the very top.

We have got a very good team, and could be a great team, with 3 high quality signings. We've got kenny at the helm, and I think he should stay. He will keep doing what's best for LFC. I just hope FSG have got deep pockets this summer. In my opinion, they got us cheap, so owe us 1 more big summer!

I hope AC playes in the euros, it will give me something to take interest in over the summer. I hope he explodes onto the scene, and takes his form into next season. I really hope Suarez stays - will be disappointed on so many levels if he is sold, no matter how much money he gets us.

It was a bit of an odd season, but I am optimistic for the future. My degree of optimism will depend on who we sign in the summer. Fingers crossed that some money is invested in the next 12 weeks. Nick.

13 May 2012 20:54:37
Liverpool need an A-list manager with silverware on his CV.
If it were to be Rafa, just a short term contract. But he wouldn't have that. Laudrup - Yes !
I can't deal with all this PC stuff. I know South America, Suarez is no racist.
I would be very upset if he were to be sold.
Kenny is great, but not for management.
So Rafa to the rescue.

13 May 2012 20:41:08
Good to see the boys go out with a good, passionate display - well done fellas. Anyone who thinks that this squad doesn't need a massive overhaul is utterly delusional.
Players who; 1. give a monkeys, and 2. have some stones would be a start

I love this post made my day!

13 May 2012 20:39:27
I think we should give Kenny another go. His plan was a longer term one, and he may still be on the way to the ultimate destination. I do wish he'd be more critical of our performances and a little less prickly with the media. If he were to go, I would not be too disappointed by Martinez as to keep Wigan up year after year shows great managerial skill and motivational talent. Of course I would LOVE guardiola to come in, not least because he might counter the no-champions league effect and attract the top names to our club.
However I want to talk about Rafa. He joined Liverpool in the summer of 2004. That season he won the european cup with a terrible team (+Gerrard, Carra and Alonso). The next season he added Reina to Xabi and Stevie and ended with the FA cup. Over the next 3 summers he added Mascherano, Arbeloa, Riera, Benayoun, Kuyt, and of course Torres. Then in 08/09 we mounted an epic and very nearly successful title challenge. At this point he made one error in the Barry/Alonso saga, and Alonso left. That seriously hurt the side, but also the team was drained and depressed by the failure of the season. They collapsed and fell to 7th next year. Rafa was sacked. What rafa did in 5 summers and only 4 seasons was BUILD the best premier league team liverpool has had, what at the time was by far the best team in europe, who were unlucky in a first leg against chelsea. He built it. It was a process he began in '04, building toward 08/09. It happened very quickly, much quicker than I had expected. If we bring him back, I am confident he would start building again, and within 6/7 years we could be up there once more. But maybe that is the process Dalglish is under going at this very moment, and thats why I think we should stick with him and continue to do so if we see continued progression.

Yeah, but Rafa did not win the premier league in his 6 year reign as manager, and that is what counts.

If LFC were prepared to give him 6 years, why can't Kenny be given half of that to put his mark on the team? We should remember that Kenny was the last LFC manager to have won the league for us and he did that 3 times in a row.

Kenny need another season at the very least.

13 May 2012 20:35:36
Hi Eds, great job on the site.

100% FACT - LFC scouts and kenny himself were at the Liberty stadium today to scout Gylfi Sigurdsson - a player we have been linked with this season. Actually I think even some of the playing staff went along as well.heard from a 'source' I have on the board. Don't shoot the messenger!

Heard it here first.

Only way is up next season. YNWA

13 May 2012 20:35:29
Really hope we sign Munain he was unplayable against united, anything ?

Great player but will cost us another transfer record...

He was playable against Athletico in the finals, though. I think the lad is way overrated.

13 May 2012 20:32:44
To those people dismissing Martinez: Look at the league table. Liverpool 52, Wigan 43. How much more money has Kenny spent? Liverpool fans have got to be more realistic. Yes, KD was great, but this is not 1990.

Martinez= Woy MKII. You want him? Then make sure you have the next manager to replace him with on the queue.

13 May 2012 20:31:18
Repeating a tweet from Tony Barrett, football reporter for the Times

Don't know where the rumours suggesting Martin Skrtel has submitted a transfer request are coming from. He definitely hasn't.

13 May 2012 20:31:05
Eds,
The best news of today is that the season is over. And that MU is without a trophy!

Well sorry, that does not make me feel any better.
Its a hollow thing is it not.

13 May 2012 20:28:23
If its true skrtel wants to leave then let him go he's jus finished his best season ever and he is at his most valuable in quality and age you could probably expect to get £15m for him in today's market I would be gutted if he left but if anyone wants to go then let them as long as the money's right we need to have players who want to be here same goes for anyone we need hungry players that's why we won't be going out and getting cavanis an higuains the likes of de Jong an ramires elm all make more sense they are young talented and hungry none of them have had a great deal off success yet there the type we need right now. C. C. C. . Kevin

Anything less than 20m is unacceptable for one of the best defenders in the premier league...

13 May 2012 20:27:50
in kenny we trust !

YOU,LL NEVERWALK ALONE

13 May 2012 20:27:39
The talk with the papers today is Martinez as our next Manager. The bookies the guys who make money out of these things have Rafa as firm favourite.

Personally we need not change again so soon ! Thoughts ?

If Kenny does go, I would like to see Rodolfo have a go at 1st team manager. I think this guy has got a lot to offer.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

You need to give Kenny more time in a couple of years the fair play rules will kick in & Liverpool well be in for a shout . Also when they do kick in the big three well be us utd & the gunners

13 May 2012 20:15:06
We've got young prospects now Eds we need to get some experienced players into the setup! 24 yrs old upwards separate the men from the boys! Some real strength. I'd be inclined to look in germany, holland, belgium, spain and portugal for potential buys.

13 May 2012 20:15:02
Dream summer for liverpool;
Manager - Kenny Dalglish
(no point getting any one else in, there gonna take a year to settle in i.e. roberto martinez unless rafa was to come back.)

IN
Gylfi Sigurdsson
Gaston Ramirez
Iker Munian
Adam Johnson
Alexander Kolarov
Luuk De Jong
Nathaniel Clyne

OUT
Fabio Aurelio
Jay Spearing
Poulsen
Joe Cole
Alberto Aquilani
Maxi Rodriguez
Dirk Kuyt
Brad Jones
Danny Wilson
Suso (Loan)
Sterling (Loan)

Jav.

Thats probably about 100 million

i would go for munian ramirez de jong and replace surprise out goings that you do not expect

Sigurdsson? Why is it that any player who looks have decent against us is a potential target? Get real.

13 May 2012 20:13:01
Not LFC related, but wondering what sort of ban everyone (eds included) think that Joey Barton will get after todays episode! I counted at least 3 red cards he could have been given after his reaction after his red. I think he must be looking at a 10 match ban minimum. Thoughts?

Jimbo.

And what about Tevez? He lit the fuse and should get an equal punishment for his actions which ultimately won City the game, all worth it in the end to topple Fergie off his perch!!

10matches! yea right doubt will be more than the standard

The bloke is scum, a total thug, always has been always will be. He shouldn't be anywhere near the professional game
In fact I'd love to see him made to play in a Sunday morning pub league for a season, he wouldn't last five minutes.

Chris in Tamworth {Ed016's Note - He is a disgrace. The lad is a thug, agreed very much. He probably will not get signed by another Premiership team for a very long time}

He will get 4 for starters as he has already been re carded this season. Then you can add another 3 for the assault on Aguero after he got the red.

13 May 2012 20:10:46
Any interest in Gary Hooper, definitely knows where the net is ?

SPL = Championship standard at best {Ed016's Note - will be worse when Rangers do go and Celtic slash wages.}

13 May 2012 20:10:25
Would really like to see us go after Diego of Athletico Madrid.Very creative player that links midfield and attack really well. I'm not certain but isn't he on loan from a german side were he had a bit of trouble? Don't know if Athletic would have the 1st option to buy after his loan period but he's exactly the type of player we need. {Ed002's Note - He is a disaster zone.}

Henderson adam n spearing are disaster zones edd
5gold stars

Henderson isnt a disaster, but adam n spearing r probably two of the worst midfielders in the epl.

Great result again today ladies! Them 3 wins you bang on about over us count for nothing now!

100 Million us 5 million brilliant :)

Tree Blue

Our worst season for 50 years and you finish above us. Which one of us is in Europe next season?
Scouse_Pride

100 million us 5 million
Only one feasible answer it has to be the reds to blues fan ratio. Obviously LFC have 100 million and EFC have 5 million.

Weres your trophy bitter.....?

13 May 2012 20:07:01
Maybe, just maybe, Comolli got sacked because HE made all the signings last year and NOT Kenny and therefore the blame lies with him. Kenny would have to make a public statement that all players were his choice as they were due to play an FA cup semi. I would'nt be surprised if David Dein was our new CEO to look after transfer and contract negotiations. Kopitetillidie {Ed002's Note - Dalglish has already made a statement to the effect he decided which players to buy.}

Thats right Ed, but Dalglish could be just saying that as he doesnt like to wash his dirty linen in public ! {Ed002's Note - Why would he lie to do that?}

13 May 2012 20:04:47
Hi eds...a realy disapointing end to a mixed season for liverpool...nw coaches with very litle xperince like rodger, martinez are considered a 'solution'...what a shame...dat wont stop me frm being a fan of course.
I hav taken a careful look at mst players that has been linked with us thus far, and they al have sumtin in comon..."average and unproven talent" most of who has only had one or two good season..but like they always say, every transfer is a gamble... I only want to imploy KK to not just buy players for their physical abilities alone, but to equaly pay attention to their intellegence and creativity... Player like downing, carol, hendo all have abilities but lack creativity and that is why we are where we are today.
That said, pleas eds, i'd like to know if lfc are serious about bent. I knw most people will not like he is a proven goal scorer, and has done that each season

Could you run that past me again?

13 May 2012 19:59:47
There will be an announcement from the club regarding Kenny on either monday or tuesday. The owners are meeting with Kenny tomorrow to discuss the season as a whole.

I expect that Kenny will be given one more season to turn it around.

13 May 2012 19:56:41
I used to watch Liverpool to see football and Swansea to see passion. Now it is the other way round.

Anyhow please bring back Rafa before we get overtaken by mid table teams.

13 May 2012 19:56:13
Season has been unlucky for us ... how many times we've hit woodwork ! ... 30 odd ? ...If you are a player who is playing in any top level league like EPL, believe me , you won't do it for fun, do you? ....so it's been plain unlucky for us :( ......We've slated Any for most part of the season..but he's been showing signs of his lethal Newcastle form ...I pray from my heart that he carries it for next season and many more! ......I sincerely hope we don't sell Luis Suarez :( ...It's not that we can't score without him ....Clubs is always bigger than any individual ...but what I won't like is that we did it succumbing to pressure from certain Mr. Ferguson x-(.......finally, please don't slate Kenny for the bad luck we've gone through this season ...he makes mistakes he is just human...but he learns from them ...people want biesla, deschamps, AVB, Martinez ..and Guardiola! ? ..seriously?....Dalglish snubbed his personal vacation and flew back to England just to bloody steady our ship....Deschamps snubbed us...Rafa had Xabi, Mascherano, Torres (in form) to work with ...sadly kenny didn't ..he's building a team....a young team in that....it's certainly a work in progress .....that'll only get better with times .....We've been waiting since 2 decades to feel the emotions the City fans felt today ! ...Priceless! ....but why are we forgetting they waited for 44 years?.......There is time for everything...Our time will come! .....As said in Shawhank Redemption..."Hope is a good thing..No good thing ever dies" ......Our belief and the hope and unrivaled loyalty towards our beloved club will get redeemed in titles others will only envy of .....Just don't be desperate and Call for heads ....Y.N.W.A!

Indian Red!

Hitting the post a few times is unlucky.......Hitting it 30 times is plain poor finishing! {Ed016's Note - I agree, It doesn't matter if it hits the post or goes over the bar or wide, it's a missed opportunity that should have been finished properly}

Sorry mate, luck has nothing to do with it, its not a childrens fairytale, simple truth the team are nowhere good enough to be competing for top honoursm

I belive that hitting the post means that it was not a good enough effort to go in. It does not matter if we hit the post 30 times during the season because every team gets some kind of misfortune during the season, it all evens out and realisticly this season the liverpool players just dont have that passion for the win, wich has been very dissapointing .

13 May 2012 19:55:35
Ive have heard from my uncle's mate who is a journalist for the mail ,Tomorrow Monday 14th May there will be a announcement , King kenny will lose his job as Liverpool manger, this will happen not because we have failed in the league and finished 8th place nor will it be we have not qualified for champions league it will be because of two dates now in the history of Liverpool Fc ,this dates are
21 Dec 2011. & 12 Feb 2012
21 Dec 2011 is the time that it was King Kenny ideal to send his team out before kick-off and wearing T-shirts depicting an image of Suarez and his name and number seven.
12.Feb 2012 is the time Liverpool striker Luis Suarez refused to shake Manchester United defender Patrice Evra's hand, when the two were involved in an angry confrontation on Saturday during a pre-match handshake in the players' first meeting since the Liverpool forward was banned for racially abusing the France international this was deemed by the owners has the last straw ,to save face and backlash of the fans king kenny will be give a made up job on the board ,at this moment the journalist has no ideal of who will take over from king kenny ,at the next opportunity Luis Suarez we be sold to the next foreign club who makes a offer over 30 million ,sorry for bad news

13 May 2012 19:52:20
To eds thanks for ur time and effort !! Best site by far!

13 May 2012 19:49:47
Got a feeling that absolutely nothing is going to happen at LFC this summer apart from the signing of a few more average players. I really don't think that Kenny will go anywhere.

13 May 2012 19:42:23
alright everyone, another season done and phase one in kenny's plan is over. i am quite optimistic for next year and i know with some additions our squad we can improve our league position and along with the experience gained by the youngsters we can improve further although it is important that we hit the ground running next season.
we arent as far from forth place as we think and our league position doesn't show the strength of our squad. after the arsenal game we had noting to play for so played youth and began building for next season and hopefully we saw the start of what will be a great spine to a team in; coates, hendo, shelvey, sterling and carroll come 4 or 5 years time.
i think kenny is doing a good job, remember where we were when he first took over, so intruth he took us from the bottom half of the table to where we are.
trust me things will continue to look up all we need is a winger and center foreward. perhaps a midfielder and then suitable replacements for the out goings. i think we will see an improvement in all of last summers singings or at least the majority of them IKWT YNWA
derryred(ps eds thanks for the work you put in, it is much appreciated)

I agree if Lucas would have been fit all season and no ban for Suarez then I think we would have done much better
YNWA
Greg

We are mate because the league doesn't lie simple no where near good enough . Cheers psv ps a country mile away truth

Kenny should have bought a striker and replacement for lucas in january. Reliance on spearing who i think is rubbish and waiting for caroll to come good, even though he has improved lately, has really costed the second half of the season.

13 May 2012 19:38:30
As I ave said Kd another year before pep guard comes dirk leaving , also behind the scenes the club is in a bit if a mess in house fighting Gerrard and Bellamy after the cup final and also the American owners are upsetting a lot of people behind the scenes .
Mr know

Did Bellers chase Stevie with a club? {Ed016's Note - I wouldn't believe this. Gerrard and Bellamy are mates.}

13 May 2012 19:33:37
all this s##t i am reading about brendon rogers, martinez replacing kk, are u insane? yeah lets get another woy ! if kk leaves we have to get a world class manager, with a proven winning record at top level AVB is a possibility, but plaese no mid table cr@p

Kloop bielsa or guardiola
maybe unai emery
if not possible stick with kenny

Since when is AVB a world Class mgr?

He only has two years expereience and was sacked in his second year for being well pretty useless

13 May 2012 19:27:54
Joey Barton shud be banned from the PL.

Quite like the guy if im honest he very colourful and if everyone was the same life would be boring

13 May 2012 19:26:58
Another shocker from Downing again today. The lad will be delighted to see the back of this season and will be relishing a fresh start next season probably coming in under the radar compared to coming in on the back of a 20 million pound transfer! He will have to have a very good pre season to get a starting place and if this doesn't motivate him to improve tenfold then we would be best parting company with Downing. He needs to man up and hit the ground running next season. It is very much a confidence issue with Stu.

I think Shelvey should go out on loan again. There is a lot of raw potential there but he needs to grow and mature and to learn how to harness his abilities. He is still very young and rash which is to be expected. His position is most definitely in an advanced role off a lone striker and not in the more deep lying centre mid he has been playing. That is where he shone for Charlton and Blackpool respectively and the boy is Stevie's long term replacement in my eyes.

Should be a very interesting transfer market and I'm looking forward to watching the guys we are looking at play in the Euros like De Jong and Elm. I believe we will probably see Kuyt, Maxi, Spearing and Adam leave if the right deals can be done for both player and club. I am not at all surprised by the Diame stories, it has been shown this season that we had virtually no cover for Lucas and the holding/destroyer type midfielder role is so so important and guys like Adam and Spearing couldn't do it for us there. For free and at relatively low wages Diame will do a job for us there when needed. Lucas will be like a new signing.

I would personally be delighted with something like this as our Summer dealings... A back up keeper to Reina, I expect Doni to leave to play regularly at this stage in his career. Rasmus Elm and Momo Diame to come in as centre mid options. Either Ramirez or Susaeta to add some flair and creativity and Luuk de Jong to be that poacher we lack and keep big Andy on his toes. Enjoy the Summer.

hi ed.
when is it likely we will find out if dalglish will stay or not. {Ed002's Note - I don't know.}

***breaking news****news coming out of anfield is that both ed001&ed022 have both handed in transfer request's....more news as we get it********

Please stay eds, i know champions league sides will come in for you, but you have to believe and have faith in the project here

Oh Kenny....the lads were unlucky not to get a point? Swansea had 62% of possession. Carroll costs more than their entire franchise. A wee bit unlucky not to get a point? I sometimes think Kenny has completely lost the point.

On the bright side, next year HAS to be better. How can it be worse? Relegation??

Things can always get worse!

There's a famous quote
"just when you think things can't possibly get any worse somehow they do"

13 May 2012 19:11:23
What a joke this season has been and I personally am sick of the sentimentalitly that is obscurring so many to what a poor job Kenny has done. Yes he is a legend and will always be but all he is doing now is tarnishing his record. Our objective which was clearly stated at the start of the season was to achieve a top four position. We've finished 16 points off fourth..If it was any other manager people would be calling for his head because he clearly didnt come close to achieving the target. And I cannot stand all those fans who will claim im not a real fan if I dont support the king but I love this club and I want us back where we belong not languishing in 8th place behind Everton. We are Liverpool not a Mid-table journeyman team. We need a change and it needs to be a complete overhaul in the Management department. Kenny has shown that he is no longer in touch with the current demands of football. His tactics, Team selections, substitutions are dated and hiss completely inept transfer business screams of stubborness and laziness.. Whats the point of a scouting network if he's only signing players with premiership experience..and over paying for these average players..Look what newcastle have done with a strong scout network...The sale of Meireles without a replacement and a his freezing out of Maxi were both ridiculous and baffling as if his intention was to play pass and move football surely we should be playing technical players like these not just the try hards that he signed and then continued to play to try to justify their prices when their form certainly did not merit it. His post match interviews have also become a joke Why cant he just answer a question straight out..after the Chelsea match on tuesday when asked if our aim was to finish above Everton..of course the answer of every fan is Yes of course..but no he had to give some indirect vauge annoying answer..Oh and the we were unlucky today excuse is just exhausted..Theres always a bit of luck both ways every season but we cant blame all our losses and draws on Bad luck..its that we are not a good enough squad..I just think that he's out of touch and needs to go as soon as possible for the good of our club. Yeah he's a legend and Id like to remember him that way not as a guy who is dragging the club down because of his stubborness. Oh and Benitez is not the answer..Seriously..I see people on here giving out about Kenny defenders being over sentimental and then asking for Benitez back..Jesus Christ!Pot this is the Kettle..You're black!...We need a completely new start...a new era for Liverpool..I have faith in FSG and their credentials to change things up so hopefully they'll come through with a big call in the next few days.. Personally Id like to see Bielsa in or Laudrup..

Fantastic, fair play

Post of the day! I agree with every single word. Thanx, Cmac.

Also, does Stevie G justify his massive wages? I know he is pure Liverpool FC, but so was Fowler and Rush etc etc. His wages alone must be crippling the club and without CL football how long will your owners keep paying? Look at Chelsea, they are in the middle of a Renaissance at the moment and I fully expect most if not all of their older players to leave in the summer.

TA

Any manager who spends the amount of money Kenny has spent and does not get into the top four should be sacked! Imagine if Newcastle or Everton had spent the same? Where would they have finished? It is not a step backwards for your club sacking Kenny. Getting him back as manager was though. Also, if he does leave, then he will have to leave for good and not leave the new manager with the spectre of Kenny hanging over them.

The fact is your current and previous owner are/were clueless when it comes to football and thought that by throwing money at the club would bring success. If this was the 90s you may have won the title, but it is not and there are still at least 3 clubs which can outspend you. The market is not overpriced, but the players you went for were.

How much would Hunntlaar, Roben, Marin and Parker cost at the start of the season? 50 mil tops, and all of them would have signed for you guys too. Liverpool have spent £100 mil on flops, including Suarez¦

Clearly I am not a Liverpool fan, but do I have to be to point out the truth?

Seen an earlier post that reminded me of something...Glen Johnson as RM ahead of Kelly? Why have we not even tested this partnership? I've heard something along the lines that he's contracted to play RB due to England or something..? If so its a dunb one, cuz Johno's got what we need at RM i.e he can cross a ball (Carroll..?), 2 good feet, pace and athleticism, etc. would save us some dosh that could be used to cover other positions...or buy an under study to mould into the RM we're looking for...L

it seems the is a 50/50 split on kk being the manager next season .my own view is that he should get one more season and take it from the,but us fans don't hire and fire that's down to fsg ...if they do fire kk and bring in a new man how much time r us fans going to give a new manager? we all want to be in the top 4 but if a new man can't deliver this in his first season do we sack him and bring someone new in ?....if we do bring in a new manager he will need time .so lets see what happens and who ever is in charge lets get behind the team and roll on nxt season ....davd d

Bottom line, this season has not even been close to being good enough. The end position for LFC in the league is nothing short of a disgrace and for me, even a Carling Cup win doesn't compensate for the dire results seen in the league.

I am of an age which means that I do and will always have great respect for Kenny, but we do have to ask ourselves whether we really believe next year can offer a significant improvement with a similar approach to that seen this year? If I were JWH I would have serious doubts.

Time will tell us what his views are, but I hope that it doesn't take too long to decide so that whatever the decision, there is plenty of time to plan for the future.

Just watched a dramatic end to e.p.l wow.
Congrats to citeh they have deserved it.

OK now for l.f.c,
Iknow lots of fans are against the big money spending, and for the lets nurture our own youth.
But i got to thinking, the prem now seems to be won on world class sighnings not youth,ok people will say utd did it with kids, but that was in the early 90,s and they then had afew yrs to develop with no great threat,.
People may say arsenal did it with a youth system, but did they? I remember berkamp and overmars going there and at the time they wer head and shouklders above anyone and they built on that.
Then chelsea got there money and did the buisness and are still allways a threat.
then along come citeh and do the same.
I just think we have to bite the bullet pay for the world class players pay there wages and let the youth lern from them, its just a opinion.its not like we will be paying those wages for ever, but the youth need the best around them to develop,so id take the chance.

martin p

p.s i know my spelling sucks it allways does and ive had a beer so its worse lol,but what ever happens im liverpool and will go to my grave that way,was just a thought.

whats kk done that ferguson hasnt this season . answer won a TROPHY . to all the fans slagging martinez whats he done in his last 9 games that kk hasnt this season won seven out of the nine . have said all season will accept whatever decision kk makes. he will do what is best for the club . if he goes martinez for me .

Dortmund 5 - Byarn 2 once we want Kloop and I think FSG will do everything to bring kloop

Totally agree with you mate.If kenny steps a side, Martinez would be a great choice he has done wonders at Wigan. He seems to get the best out of his players, and always sets his team out to win games.

Jiminy Cricket

Yeah Martinez record is world class and his trophy haul is exceptional.
Liverpool should always go for these type managers.
Personally I think we are LIVERPOOL FC and therefor only attract interest from world class managers with proven winning ability who have won cups and leagues and know how to tame world stars and handle pressure.
But then I'm old fashioned so maybe protentials are the future for this club.

13 May 2012 18:45:28
I for one never expected us to be top 4 this year. I did think 5th was realistic though given our spending and current squad. The season has been truly poor though with no improvement over last season and very little to be realistically optimistic about. We seem very good at taking a decent signing and turning him into an average one. Not sure why as we have done well with Torres, Suarez and Lucas but so many have been average. I think kk has demonstrated he cannot inspire our players or make them better. In all there has been a complete lack of progress with maybe Carroll showing a few signs he actually might be interested recently. Kk handled the Suarez issue badly and in my opinion should realise this season has been dire on so many levels. I hope has has the dignity to do the right thing.

So much improvement..

hi edds i am such a huge fan of lfc and it realy hurts seeing us so far behind the top teams i mean even spurs and newcastle are way ahead of us and play much better football than are selfs. not to mention everton finishing above us now after alot of thought over the last 5 or 6 weeks kenny must step aside or be pushed at the end of the day he purchased these players he had final say now all but saurez were over priced ! he decides the team he decides the tactics if there have been some also he decides the formation now can any liverpool fan hand on heart say they are happy with the way kenny has the team set up and the tactics we are playing !! now blunder boy roy was sacked for less we must stop having blinkers on towards kenny i love him as much as the next fan but at the end of the day any other manager would be gone and we all no it !! i grew up watching one touch football pass and move now all we do is side to side to the back to the side and to the keeper its CRAP and thats why no team are scared to come anfield any more. take todays game crying out for some speed down the wings and sterling stays seated on the bench the whole game now downing and henderson have had all season to show us something what made kenny think as its the last game it would change he should of started withe sterling or atleast on at half time and again swansea show us how football should be played one touch pass n move !! out with kenny in with brendon rogers who by the way is of for four weeks training with spains national team coaches this is the man we need infact give half are so called big name players away and buy five or six of the swansea lads atleast the play with pride and for the fans and it hurts when they lose not like are big name charlies who just worry what to buy the new aston martin or the lambo.
sorry if this seems like a rant edd but fenway realy need to have balls and ask kenny to step aside ASAP
thanks for reading any cooments welcome

If people don't want Dalglish, then could some one please name a Top manager that would be willing to come to LFC that will show the same passion for the club as he does and not just for the money?
KernowRed

Deschamps, Bielsa, Blanc?
Even Martinez or AVB seems posibble

Roberto Martinez.

Adam

Rafa Benitez

Why does it always come back to "passion" and love for the club etc...I'm old enough to have gone and watched him play for us and then manage us, but that's all history.. As much as I hate to say it, it is time to move on and sever ties. As for who we could get, we still have the pull of being a massive club, at this moment, to attract the very best coaches around the world. And as a side note, 110 million should be getting us better than 8th in the league. Spent correctly it should have gotten us a top 3 finish; this of all seasons..Rome 77

You don't need to have passion to be a winner, tactics & skills win games not passion

13 May 2012 18:31:23
Hi ed, if these rumours are true and daglish gets sacked tonight, who would be the most possible candidate to take over?

13 May 2012 18:29:24
Copy and pasted from forums on official site, best season review seen yet. shocking in fact

Season review in 5 facts:

1) Worst points return for 31 years

2) Joint worst GS in 41 years

3) Joint worst League position in the last 50 years

4) Fewest wins in 58 years

5) Most money ever spent in the two windows prior to the season

...and no European football to distract us.

Airbrush that

You missed the fact that we won a trophy and narrowly missed out on a second ?

Ha that hardly makes up for the rest of these dross stats.

We beat brighton oldham etc to those cups , lge form is a reflection on your team period!!!!
5gold stars

Fact 6- first trophy in 6 years.
Fact 7- FA cup final ( unlucky too )
Fact 8- dominance of the top clubs.
Fact 9- your an idiot

This is why I want Kenny out!!

Lfc_fan not Kennys

We beat brighton, Oldham etc to those cups ?? You obviously missed wins over ManCity and Chelsea in one and Man utd in the other ?

13 May 2012 18:26:19
I don't think much needs to happen for this Liverpool team to get better.
- Carroll is improving
- Defence is solid
- we need a scorer eg Defoe plus two or three transfers other like Dempsey.
- shevley etc are young and will improve.

If Kenny is still there we need to support him but if not I think Martinez would be a realistic and good replacement. Next season looks promising and play Sterling more

Since when do we buy spurs rejects we need quality players who have amazing potenrial like munian ramirez susaeta lukk de jong lewandowski to name a few not dempsey or defoe

13 May 2012 18:26:18
Personally i'd love Michael laudrup to come in, perfect pedigree of an ex football, knowledge of the European game and admittedly has a soft spot for Liverpool after nearly joining us under dalglish in the 80's

Agree 100 percent he would be my first choice as boss and has been for a long time, big fan of the way he has his teams play.

Congrets to city !! For all u rafa haters, Mancini brought his all star intermilan side to us in the " champion league " for the younger fans we used to be the best team in Europe !! And rafa the gaffa stuffed inter milans all stars!! Come back rafa !!

Like Mancini, Rafa has managed Inter Milan too. Inter were the European Champions at the time.

For the younger fans, Rafa the Gaffa made a complete pigs ear of the job and was sacked after a couple of months!

Benitez couldn't buys players with peanuts, coz Kenny has done a better job than rafa the gaffa. It's gonna take us ten years to clear this mess Kenny has put us in.

2. They realise they have poor team to offer to fans hence lower prices I.e they realise package is not good.

Someone just posted on Facebook that Downing has not scored once in the Premiership, neither has he got an assist! That's shocking if true!

Is that true?

That is 100% true he is appalling

Somehow it is true

Did Downing not score the winner for Villa against us last season i think ull find.

Downing has got two assists vs QPR (away 3-2 lost)

He has scored and assisted he's just crap

13 May 2012 18:14:55
I think Dalglish deserves at least one more season.

This season we have been unlucky and the media has been totally against us all season.

It appears that many fans want yet another change.

Who should take Dalglish's place?
( bare in mind they have to have a great cv. They need to be successful, affordable, available and loyal)..

So who's your pick?

Physic red

Unai Emery (sp)

slimboy

I have a conspiracy theory of my own; maybe we haven't been good enough.

Ideally I would like to give Kenny another a season. If he was to leave though, perhaps maybe Laudrup, Lippi, Rijkaard or Van Gaal could be tempted to take up the reigns?

Can't be Emery. He's Spartak Moscow bound.
Dalglish would either get another chance.
Or other less popular choice would be chosen

What does the media being against us have to do with anything...

Negativity that's thrown towards the club becomes negativity within.
Hence bad luck, confidence etc etc.
Confidence is brought on through positivity. Hence why support need to be loud and loyal

13 May 2012 18:13:05

Not good enough like rst of season.Kenny you said it takes time,well-pardew!And less cash!Pathetic saying-obsession with Leauge_Thats what brings big names-NOT cups, and you know that!

Remind me what trophies have Newcastle won under Pardew this season?

Tbh newcastle are still a better team than us. Spent hardly anything and finished 5th, we spent over £100m and finish 8th! And we just barely won the carling cup against a
Championship side!

I'd rather judge Pardew on next seasons performance as you know...he got sacked from West Ham, got Charlton relegated and didn't do anything at West Ham. This could've either been luck, or his "quality".

Alex

The table does not lie. Newcastle played better football and finshed where they deserved.

13 May 2012 18:10:43
So how many goals did Jelavic get for Everton since arriving in jan, as many as our top striker.
Ha, ha, suppose not good enough for LFC, but hang on, didn't Everton finish above us.
Downing cost 3 or 4 times more and not a damn goal to speak of.
What a joke!!!.

To be fair ones a striker the others she*p!!

13 May 2012 18:03:59
Hi Eds, was just wondering if we would maybe look at Lee Chung-Yong from BW, has just recovered and would probably be available fairly cheap and has quality. Any Idea?
Thanks {Ed022's Note - Doubtful mate.}

13 May 2012 17:57:49
What are the odds of kenny going now after quite possibly the worst league season in recent memory? I know Martinez is being talked about what do the Ed's think about the chances of bringing Rafa back, or someone like Capello?

13 May 2012 17:56:59
Incredible. Absolutely incredible. Never before I have celebrated a goal scored by a team other than LFC. The goal scored by Aguero at the 93th mins is absolutely priceless. I was feeling sorry though for my Man U friends because I was in their place in 1989 when Thomas scored the goal in the dying second to give Arsenal the title.

And he scored it in Fergie time!

You know how far you have fallen when you start celebrating somebody else's loss. Sad

13 May 2012 17:31:15
to the Eds thhat support liverpool, would you like a new manager or would you want to give kenny another season?
this is not a question about whether or not you think he''l go because i know you've answered that on numerous occasions.

so in your opinion would you keep kenny or let him go?

thanks {Ed022's Note - It's a very 'head vs heart' thing for me, but I would be fine with either.}

Very good answer ed22, you should be a politician.

There should be a few worried fellas about.

13 May 2012 18:02:24
no passion or effort at all today from anyone, and another poor defeat, how bad are things when the best i was hoping for was a draw at Swansea. said it before and i will say it again Downing needs to be shown the door in the summer, he has literally been one of the biggest flops in a red shirt ever, he has produced nothing all season, played in almost every game, been shown faith from Dalglish and given him absolutely nothing in return, a massive disappointment for me, i was not a fan of his before he signed for us and after watching him this season i am actually appalled how little he produces, its been a long time since we had a player who could beat a player and create from the wing ala Barnes, about time the club scouts find one and buy him no matter what he costs.
cobra

I defo agree with you on downing , he does not track back to help the defence , and if he runs a little bit he thinks he has done enough , but that being said kenny has said he is better than he thought he was

13 May 2012 18:02:04
Im hearing rumours KD has decided to step down prior to swansea game
RB to be given another crack at the Job.

I for one hope its true

I don't think it will happen !! But if there's one of many things rafa did right was bring kenny back !! Let's hope kenny thinks the same !! Before h.g we was going the right way !! Rafa's warriors !!

Hillarious and dillusional!

Suppose your one of these supporter who called for Benitez's head on his last season.

I like Benitez and think he was a good manager. I believe he was dismissed to soon but then the question remains..

In 6years in charge, what did Rafa actually win?

Let it go man

At least we were contending in the league

FA Cup and Champions League...

Champions league perhaps? Jeez!

To reply to my own post ! I never wanted rafa sacked !! If u all think back it all went wrong under h.g !! We was so close ! Did rafa make mistakes ... Yes ! Did he forget the 96 ... No !!did he let us all know about the h.g ..yes . Did he go to Madrid .. Or any of the other top clubs in Europe .. No . Does he understand our club ,area ? Yes ! Did he realise that the club needed kennys input ? Yes !! And I'll tell u all something else this is really the most important time in our club for a long time !! To long out of the champions league could be the end of lfc as a top club for a long time ! He made mistakes but I for one believe give him I year to get us back in to the champion s league !! Because winning carling cups in today's world means nothing ! Sad maybe but true !! Any more years out of the champions leagues will be the death of this great club ! And I know in his last year we came 7th put lets be honest managing our club at the time was nightmare !!

Did he win the league - no.
Did he constantly challenge the league - no.
Did he win the champions league - yes.
Did he win the support of the fans- 50/50.
Did he win the support of the players - arguable.
Did he spend lots of money - yes.

The end of the day- he was here 6 years and challenge the league -once.
Won the champions league but with Houliers team and Gerrard and Hammans class.

Sorry but he was here to WIN the league and he had time and money and never won it.

If fsg keep dalglish there blind i mean yes managers need time but hes had 1 year and a half and its went from bad to worse, downhill then even more downhill. There is no big plan obviously. He is not a long term solution his tactics dont work in modern day football midfiekd gets no were near the forwards wingers dont attack wings. Its so disjointed hes stuck in the 80's football. Modern day football u need SPEED quickness weve got none downing aint that fast nor a good dribbler. Ohhh everton finish above us 60m spent last summer any other manager habe a chance even to last to this point? Thing is fsg know hes a legend there stuck in a no win situation be brave fsg!

13 May 2012 17:59:31
We need to spend big this summer

We spent big last season , we need people who are good and know what they are doing .
in the past not all of our great players cost the earth look at kevin keegan, clemence, highway etc red mick tag .

Pleased the season is over. A season which promised so much but delivered very little other than carling cup glory. Time for kenny to be moved upstairs. If the rumours in today's papers are true I'd welcome Martinez with open arms. Think he'd bring us the style of football we crave with no negativity.
Would love us to sign a couple of wingers to supply the crosses Carroll craves. Hopefully Lucas will be ready to return for the start of the season. Carroll and suarez will be awesome next season given the right service. Finally amazed sterling didn't get a run out today.

He would bring the likes of Moses while are rivals bring in hazard Munian etc and the gap will widen

What are you 6?

So what your saying is moses would widen the gap....
are you religious by any chance..

Really hope Kenny goes after this, don't understand this blind pro Kenny stance in some of the lfc forums. As a scouser born and bred......it pains me to say it....but we absolutely need a change.

Probably because fans like you would rather our club become one of those clubs who give managers only one season then get rid.
Like a Chelsea or madrid.
Lose our reputation as a club that supports their manager through thick n thin.
A club who's motto is " you'll never walk alone".
Now it appears that our new motto says " walk alone because we want more".

The reason our fans support our manager is because that is our history, our tradition and the way Liverpool fans should be.
We arnt chelsea, Madrid or an Italian club. We are Liverpool Fc.

13 May 2012 17:54:35
Regards all the kenny bashers, so boo hoo Everton finished above us....AND? How many trophys did they win? How many finals did they make it too?

At the end of the day if we finish outside the top two that's a s**te season regardless.

Has a great man once said " 1st is 1st. 2nd is nowhere.

Roll on the summer and see what happens.

Lee73

1st is 1st 2nd is nowhere was said many years before the champions league.

We won the carling cup on pens birmingham won it last year and went down , we need to move on forget this season , forget that suarez missed so many games and we did not get some one in as a striker and learn where it went wrong bin downing no league goals , henderson over rated , carroll only trys now and again , adam thinks he's made it now he is at liverpool. reina who thinks he is better than he is , spearing not good enough and shelvey etc etc so when you look at my comments we have a lot to do but we will and we will all be there ynwa.red mick tag

Can all you deluded Dalglish die hards just disappear. I and many other fans support LFC, not Dalglish. Dalglish is not the manager to get us back into the champs lge and then onto one day winning the title. We need a new manager, someone who wont sign players who gain acheivemnts such as no goals and no assists for 20m pounds. Joke season. El Pistolero

You say talk about him signing someone with no goals and no assists then sign your name with one of his signings who is fantastic... I find that a little disturbing...

G BOX

Actually G Box, suarez had been scouted for 6 months whilst hodgson was there. Talks werealready ongoing. He was more a comolli/hodgson signing. Get your facts straight

Ed's and Macca let me ask you a question. Journalists such as Tony Evans are always having a dig at FSG but not saying why, apparently we are very poorly run and the owners don't care, also the statdium issue. Care you enlighten us about all the hate of FSG, i can't really see what they have done wrong.

Rather then focussing on title we should focus on top 4.we are 17 points behind spurs who did not spend much this season.
It will be challenge to get anywhere near 4th if kenny stays.he said add points at end well they come to massive 52 kenny..

Was a tough season to say the least. Lets just hope the owners know how to make us a winner again. Without CL football we will have to do it the same way as Newcastle, finding cheap 'gems' and playing good passing and moving football.

No point reviewing todays' game. I would simply say it characterized our season well. Probably not bad that we lost, since it wouldn't have changed our league position, and I wouldn't want anyone in management to think that a couple of wins at the end of the season means our squad has potential. They don't. I think an overhaul is in order, aim for top 6 next year, top 4 year after that. Long way to go unfortunately. I can't see us attracting world class players for atleast 3 - 4 seasons.

We end the season on appropriate terms, losing to a promoted club, with no goals to speak of. Atleast United losing the title softens the blow.

13 May 2012 17:02:48
Can I just note how our hard negotiations with Marveaux seemed to have payed off this season, didn't need another expensive free player to sit on the bench or in the medical room. Played 6 games this season for Newcastle.

Thankful Red

P.S. I, normally known as Jolly Red, I have taken to renaming myself to suit the occasion.

He was free and is on a low contract... how much was Dowing again?

Fingers crossed that today is the final game in charge for a certain manager today.

FSG have a big decision to make.

Yes KK is a legend, but currently not good enough to be LFC manager.

Will be very interesting what they decide to do.

I hope the certain manager you are refering to is SAF

Eds and all,
Is there a chance that Kenny Dalgleish might be the new DoF?

Daglish should have a restraining order to stop him being within a million miles of transfers

Hi Ed's, 1st of all thanks for the great work that you put into this site, this is the page to come to, to follow our great club even though some planks post the most ridiculous comments from sources that must be talking tea pots! Just wanted to know in light of the Skrtel nonsense, who do you think will be looking to move in the summer and do you believe dalglish will be manager next season?
Ps like to thank Joey Barton for being such a t**t to give City 5 minutes extra time to stop Man Utd winning the league!
Thanks {Ed002's Note - There are pages of answers to those question.}

I think we need to take a look at man city to realise that the way to win the league is not invest in mainly young English talent....only lescott and Barry were playing in the game today, and hardly did a thing. In fact, it was lescott that nearly lost them the title! It was thanks to the other foreign players that got them the title. Let's hope that lfc do not continue with this buy young and English policy!

Biggy Balls

Who played in goal for city today?

Sorry, three English players....out of 11! Not much of an argument is there...and he conceded two regardless of whether it was his fault or not, which just backs up my argument that English players aren't good enough!

Biggy Balls

Have you not thought that the reason City won the league was down to the £930m investment they have had?

Exactly the point I am trying to make....w
If we are to have a chance of contending for the title, we need to spend big but on quality player Who aren't English!! I'm not saying to spend £930m over a number of seasons but if we need to spend, we need to spend it on top players from Europe, south America etc and not on young English players who will never be as good as their foreign counterparts, apart from the odd one or two!

Biggy Balls

i am really ashamed to b a lfc fan

a disgraceful season
poor quality in our squad
no passion against smaller clubs
manager not good enough
the club is disappearing into bein midtable class
cant see any top players comin
nearly s0 points behind 1st
lfc r in real real trouble!

if we dont spend big this summer forrr quality

we will truly disappear from the elite clubs

Total disagree!
FA cup final, league cup WIN.
Ok league position and results have been poor but I must say that we have been extremely unlucky this season.
We have the record for post & bar hits and we've dominated most games with great pass n move attacking football. Other seasons then they would of been wins.
Played outstanding against the top four.

I think with luck on our side then next season you might see a challenge.

For me though, we need a pacey winger another striker and we will be there.

I've watched most of our games this season and I believe it's utterly unfair to criticise Dalglish just yet. He deserves another season.

Benitez had one bad season and the fans turned on him now you want him back and arnt willing to support anyone else. This amazes me

If you are ashamed to be one of us then do one down the M62 and support one of them,we really dont need the likes of you .
"Fans" like you really are a complete joke!

DEREK

I will never be ashamed

Joshlfc

Blue lobster for you next season - you don't understand reality.

dd

But he has a point....shocking season, Liverpool have gone from a top european team to a midtable. I am not ashamed of Liverpool but am not happy that our league position is so rubbish.

Yes we have history and were one of the greatest clubs in europe but until we can get some top players in, we will never be
Able to compete with man city, utd, spurs, arsenal, Chelsea, even Newcastle. The reason for this is that all these teams will strengthen and where the top players will be more attracted to clubs with champions league football, teams like newcastle just seem to be shrewder in their business than us, so buy players cheap who turn out to be world class.

We have a great history but that's it,
It's history, ie in the past, and his story never won u titles, players and the manager did!

Ashamed is a strong word but for those who think this has been a good season get a grip!! Not good enough!

13 May 2012 17:24:35
Just a bit of food for thought for all those sticking their noses up at the thought of Roberto Martinez taking over at the helm (should Kenny move roles), we finished 9 points ahead of them this season. Consider how much their squad is worth compared to ours and how much they have spent on players. Hell of a lot of money we've paid for those extra points really...

Anyhow my point really is that Martinez could imo really fit in at liverpool, good young manager with an attacking football philosophy that would fit in superbly with our planned direction, please don't compare him with Roy Hodgson who's footballing ideas were quite frankly never going to suit our players or apease the fans.

Any comments or views welcome, I'm still undecided about Kenny to be truthful, i love the guy, his passion for the club and the style of football he has brought back, which is truthfully far more entertaining than we ever played under rafa or gerard, however this season has been disastrous at times, we have of course been 'unlucky' with hitting the woodwork etc but for me personally a Carroll/Suarez partnership should have extended through far more of the season and Dalglish's sporadic use of Downing (especially in relation to Carroll) has been bewildering.

Cheers
SideShowBob

Not taking anything away from Martinez but IF we were to change managers, we should be looking at someone that has higher credentials IMO.

The Crow

Completely agree about Martinez. Time for youth.

Disagree about Downing. A shocking season, and so far a terrible signing.

Well done to city, left it late! So we finished with more in the cabinet than Man Utd, that will be this years bragging and paper to cover the cracks of our season no doubt.
Can any of the ed's confirm if a press conference has indeed been called for Monday? I only ask as you no doubt have contacts in the media that would have heard. {Ed002's Note - I have no notification of a Press Conference tomorrow.}

13 May 2012 17:20:16
The loss today fitted a very disappointing season for us,even though Dalglish is a legend i think its time for him to step
down.Changes to come hopefully...

Cant stand all this KK should step down chat .....We made big changes and had some bad luck ...Lucas injury , Suarez ban , Mandy Carroll not turning up till the last 2 games of the season ,Adams ,Hendo and Downing not finding form Steve G Injuries and Lady luck not being around all season ..Give KK a chance 1 more season at least ..... And maybe another thing that effected are season was too many Fans slagging off the team and the manager what ever happened to YNWA

We all removed our Kenny tinted glasses?
StoenCold

Load of rubbish, poor excuses, we just weren't good enough... We've been in transition for years! Just look at Newcastle and what they have done! Get a grip. I hate to say this but kenny has to go and there can be no debate about it.
Tactics are poor
Signings are poor
The mentality of the players looks poor
And tbh no one could really care about the result today, especially the players which is not good enough.
People are going to reignite the earlier season debate
Do people support kenny or do people support the club?
I support the club and will through the wind and rain but others support kenny and in their eyes he can do no wrong which is nonsense
Let's ask this question, if we had performed this season under any manager, would they still be in a job which people still worshipping them?

Who do you think is affordable, successful and more importantly AVAILABLE?

13 May 2012 17:17:17
I may as well be the first and I will sign my post...

Mr. Henry said top 4 was a priority this season we failed.

With the players KD brought to the club, the buck lies with KD, kennys poor team selections, kennys poor tactics all season, kennys continued disrespect to the media, excuses after excuses, sorry to say this as Kenny will always be a legend but he isn't good enough as a manager..

Mr. Henry has saved the best while last, P45 time for KD and about time too.....

Curled1

If we had any other manager and finished in this position, everyone would be calling for a new manager, remember Roy was only half way through the season, nobody said wait to see where we finish, roy will come good. Those of you who said at the end of last season, give Andy carroll until the end of next season, then judge him. How many has he scored. Should we trust him to score 25 for us next season because that's what we need from him. Van Persie, Rooney and Aguero can do it, so to compete at the very top, that's what we need. I can't see him doing it. Let's start afresh, sell those who are not good enough and buy players who can play in our pass and move system.

you care more about united losing than you do about liverpool winning... pathetic really... i kinda feel sorry for you lot.

I always care about the result of Liverpool, whether it is our bigges game of the season right down to todays unimportant game.. But what you don't understand is the idea of rivalry.. Do you care that on paper in 10 years time it will have Liverpool having won something this year with man u getting nothing.
Let's face facts liverpools season was terrible. But we will still support our team through thick and thin.

Don't cry to mummy too much over not winning anything this year I'm sure you can quickly go out and buy a city shirt and celebrate with them...

Kenny is our manager, and will be for another year at a minimum, when he makes the call to end his tenure, Martinez will obviously be a candidate given his talent as a manager, but it's best not to think that far ahead i think...

Fiorentina interested in signing Alberto Aquilani to replace the departing Riccardo Montelivo. Liverpool looking for around £5m for him.

Lille will sign Joe Cole permanently should Eden Hazard leave. Lille are demanding a huge fee for Hazard and with plenty of interest in him, Lille may get what they are asking for. Liverpool will allow him to leave for around £3m with Lille and Cole desperate for him to stay.

Brad Jones will leave either on a free or for anything less than £1m.

Fabio Aurelio will leave on a free.

Jonjo Shelvey, Jay Spearing, Danny Wilson and Jon Flanagan will all leave on loan. Spearing and Wilson will be sold however, should a good offer come in.

Where's Montolivo off to, we'll have him! {Ed002's Note - Milan.}

Aqiliani is starting for Milan today, so he will get 24 matches. 1 less than whats needed. Milan is making a fool of us.
Whatever happens I hope we will keep Aquliani away from Milan. Its better that he plays for Liverpool reserves.

All Italian teams use under handed tactics in loan transfers to get themselves a better deal than agreed to originally.

Leauge form aint good enough despite the sadly pathetic KK protestations.I just wonder if the reported low budget for buys is Fenways way of gently nudging KK to one side.In order to give a new manager a decent budget

Ok, this may sound a little silly, and i am quite intoxicated, i am also not sure of exactly where Swansea are sitting on the table.
However, if they're sitting in a position that may see them relegated, i am happy to suffer this one more loss and donate the three point to Swansea. what an end to the season it would be for them, a swansong of sorts, excuse the terrible joke, but whatever happens. I've genuinely enjoyed the ups and downs of this season, and forgiving our own misfortune, i'd happily see some good fortune passed on to a club that needs the boost we missed out on, so good luck everybody on the final day of the season, whoever you may support, and a quick congrats for Citteh, and eat s**t United! I will talk to everybody in the season new, and we'll start afresh yeh? so cheers everybody and peace!!

KK for CL next season!!!

Red7.

...and i say that out of nothing less than respect for the way Swansea have gone about their football this season. They've developed a style of play and stuck to it, no matter what... I'm also surprised at how much i've enjoyed watching Leon Britton too. If only the lad was 7-8 years younger he'e be a gem to get hold of.

eds do you think there is even the slightest chance we could get moyes as manager? his name has never been mentioned on here before but he is by far one of the best managers in the league and has been for some time, hes due for a sit down with evertons owners at the end of the season where he will once again be told he has a transfer budget of about 50 quid so will probably be looking to move on, i fear he will take over from ferguson after next season and we will be gutted if we never moved for him {Ed022's Note - No, not Moyes.}

13 May 2012 15:55:03
Why do people on here always tell others to ''go support City'' ? I find it disrespectful and a bit harsh. They look a loyal bunch who have supported a mediocre club for many years. The money has helped,of course, but they've always had loyal fans. And to be honest, their home support puts ours to shame. Rather tell them to go support the real plastic blue team,Chelsea.
Capetownred {Ed022's Note - Lol this comment is daft. Most loyal Man City supporters actually stopped supporting them because they felt the takeover ruined the true grit of the old City side - the passion of the players to play for their side and not money.}

Thank you 022, it needed to be said.

I shall have to disagree with you on that one ed, being from manchester myself i can honestly say i haven't come across any fair weather/ fickle city fans. Infact everyone that i know is just over the moon they aren't s**te anymore.

He is a real talent, so how about you do the negotiations... He'd be very hard to get away from Milan i'd say.

Was hoping for a better game for last one of the season. Think the Chelsea game was the 'goodbye' game. The lads playing like season already over. Swansea look good though. Carroll's only contribution was an unnecessary wrestling match.

13 May 2012 15:52:14
Great Site Ed's

its not a rumour but Reina hasn't been as consistant as he could be and we know him to be this season, with that being said, do you think that his time as liverpool's first choice keeper is slowly but surely coming to an end with us possibly buying a younger, up-and-coming keeper to replace him? cheers Wood Bean. {Ed022's Note - He won't be sold in all likelihood mate.}

To be fair, Reina still is an "up and coming" keeper. In Goalie years, he's just a pup.

Talksport is just reporting that Martin Skrtel is leaving for a CL-club next season ...
I am not convinsed that this is true. Ed's? {Ed022's Note - No.}

13 May 2012 14:50:24
Unbelievable that we are now being linked with Roberto Martinez. Is this the extent of our ambition as a club - we appoint a manager whose premiership experience is in avoiding relegation in the last days of two consecutive seasons! Is that the kind of experience we need as a club? Surely we should be appointing a manger who can win things, or more importantly, hanging on to the one we have! And Diame! Are you kidding me? He's rarely fit and in and out of the Wigan side.

Elm on the other hand - seen him playing a few times this season and he is a superb player. He would suit Liverpool's style down to the ground as well but I can't see him giving up Champions League football to come to us. Here's hoping though - hope that rumour has some legs! {Ed022's Note - Your comment is utter crap.}

13 May 2012 14:49:04
marin skrtel will leave this summer as he is not in todays squad due kenny having spoke with him and him saying his ambitions to leave. what a great player he has been really hope this isnt true

13 May 2012 14:21:27
3 year plan to get into the champions league or win the title? I don't see us doing the former in 5 years nevermind 3 with Kenny in charge. I don't know how close he's playing his cards to his chest on summer signings but the noises from the club is everyone's staying(playing staff) and limited funds are available. How can we progress when the general fan consensus is that the player we got are not good enough. Downing, Adam, Spearing, Flanagan not good enough..
Maxi, Kuyt, Carragher, Bellamy(constantly injured) are past it.

Agree with the list of players who aren't good enough aside from Downing. I just think he's had a really poor season but will improve given time. Think there are a few more we could add to the list as well! There isn't huge optimism about any of the reserves either! Sterling is the bright spark and I doubt he'll ever make a premiership first 11. Henderson has been the biggest disappointment for me this season!

Cannot se us win the league for the forseable future, to do that you need to build a better squad than City. World class players cost huge amounts of money, which we don't have. Buying younger players will not bring us the league title.Look how long Arsenal has been rebuilding and still 20 points behind City. I'm afraid times have changed, 3/4th is all we could hope for with a good run in the cups
Bobbinred

13 May 2012 14:20:22
For as long as kenny is in charge and brings in mediocre players , you know who they are, and plays players like Jay, who wouldn't get in the first 11 of any PL team, we have 0 chance of getting in the champions League or challenging for the title.
Some of you with their blind devotion and nostalgia don't help either. Open your eyes , please. For the sake of the club. Kenny himself knows he has failed. He is just either too stubborn to admit it, or thinks he can fix it. Truth is, kenny has been out for too long , has no knowledge of the transfer market and can NOT be trusted with any money after the mistakes made. This has been the worst season in over 50 years, yet the blind faith is still there….

This is business, the club is the most important thing. Any chief executive who wastes so much money must be held accountable! There is no room for sentimentalism .

I think the word your looking for is 'sentimentality'?

You need to open your eyes we haven't the financial clout of some of the other teams, enjoy good attacking football and any cups/league will be a bonus

You were probably right mate, missing through illness.

Kenny , you have been a legend to me ever since I saw you make your debut for the club in the 1977 Charity Shield , the most intelligent British footballer I have ever seen .

You will be part of the fabric of our great club and city for the rest of time , many thanks for what you have done this season and best wishes for the future .

How can our new manager fail with you at his side !

Thank Goodness the Americans recognise his value to the club , they will find the right role going forward .

For his sake , let's hope it is as far away from the dugout as possible , and if he asks for the chequebook , somebody call the police !

13 May 2012 13:40:51

13 May 2012 13:33:38
Well 1 more fixture of the season to go i was wondering what has been everyone's best Liverpool game in the league.
For me it has to be Blackburn away, it had just about everything a red card, a goalkeeper coming off the bench to save a pen, a come back from Blackburn and a late late goal from a £35m striker struggling for form.

Anyone else

always a red

The only away game i managed to get tickets for other than 3 wembley visits!

We should expect the following players to leave this summer:
Aurelio
Cole
Maxi
Pacheco
Eccleston
Aquilani
Darby
Wilson
Amoo
Kuyt
Adam
Spearing

Our top targets are :
1.Rasmus Elm
2.Olivier Giroud
3.Dempsey

13 May 2012 12:00:13
Morning all,

I for one hope that we can get Diame - I see him as one of the most complete midfielders in the league - would be a top signing in my opinion!! Eds - Do we think 4 - 5 siginings is a realistic figure this summer?

Thanks for all your hard work

Have a great Sunday all

Cheers

Jamie {Ed022's Note - I would personally say there will be around 4-5 signings this summer yes.}

Diame Munian Ramirez de Jong Isla

Johnson spearing and a few surprises maybe in addition to aqua cole etc

Hi eds,
Is KK definitely staying at Anfield, and who is r most likely signing for the summer.
Thanks,
Scousered {Ed002's Note - I don't know what will be happening with Dalglish and we don't know the most likely signing.}

Im sure most people would agree that luuk de jong is the most likely signing.

13 May 2012 11:28:51
All of these players that we are linked with haven't got a chance of coming with a 30 million pound budget so these would be my signings;

Diame(Free)
Sessegnon(8 Million)
Bas Dost(10-15 Million)
Tello(5 Million)

We'd be lucky to get Tello for £5m.

More like we would be unlucky to get tello for £5m,seen as he is available for free,I may be wrong but that is what i've heard,maybe one of the eds can enlighten me....bri teh red {Ed022's Note - His contract is running out, but I expect Barcelona to offer him a new one.}

13 May 2012 11:22:50
I think the players we should be in for are gaston, huntelaar, Luke de Jong, altintop, Diego, Honda, Isla, elm, sussatea, munian, m Suarez, falcao, Adam Johnson, Defoe, huddlestone, Milner and Aaron Ramsey, I'm not saying bid for all these players but I believe this is the quality in players we should look to sign, outgoings should be unfortunately, maxi, dirk and fabio, loyal servants but need regular games, spearing, aqualani, Poulsen, flanno, pacheco, amoo, ecclestone and doni, kenny made the squad bigger and stronger last summer now I believe we need 6-8 class players to replace the outgoings, I believe the players are realistic targets to get us where we want to be, we are not to far behind the likes of Chelsea, spurs newcastle and arsenal, abit more look in front of goal and we would be on there coat-tails, I'm optimistic about next season ynwa

Wow that will not happen in a million years... we are no longer good enough to attract players like these, they will all want european football at least! You have very high expectations of our club who is heading down a very slippery slope to the s**t. Lower your expectations mate as i am afraid you will be very dissapointed if you don't.

We can offer european football you plank

EPL young manager can be next Liverpool manager . Roberto Martínez , Alan Pardew, Ex Chelsea Manager Vilas Boas or Kloop of Dortmund.

hhh

Alan Pardew!! What have you been sniffing!!

To the second poster, have you seen Newcastle play this season?

Have you they were out played on many games but had people scoring goals.
Against Chelsea and Bolton just 2 examples
They were out played but scored goals.

We have played alot better football. In many games and not got anything out of them due to bad luck , poor finishing!

Alan Pardew has nothing to do with choosing and buying players!!
Let's see what they do next season before you go and have them as your "second team"

It's become The Newcastle Appreciation society on here lately!

I guess it's in hope that they gey 4th ahead

This may of already been covered. I was on the Fenway Sports Mgt website https://twitter.com/#!/fenwaysportsmgt and the comment was posted by Liverpool fan Stephen Hall - the fact that the comment was re-tweeted by Fenway - looks like a further indicator Kenny will be given more time. Thoughts Macca and Eds?

Eldon Shepherds Bush Red

13 May 2012 10:46:15
I eeally think the announcement whenever it comes will be for Ian Ayre's departure. Kenny will be staying with a new Fenway man at the helm who will have far more clout over sanctioning of transfers and the club's approach to crises such as the Suarez affair

13 May 2012 10:46:00
I'd be interested to know if Macca has any information on the link to Momo Diame today? Whether he's heard any noises? Personally I think he'd be a good signing on a free transfer. He's an improvement on Spearing and probably Adam and the right age at 24. My only concern is that we'll end up with far too many for the middle of the park so it would be imperative to see one or both of Spearing and Adam go. Perhaps both with Spearing and Suso stepping up next season.

Yeah, we'll let Spearing and Adam go, so Spearing can play next year??

13 May 2012 10:43:41
Dalglish, like Rafa before him, has had to buy potential (thats the remit FSG have for new players - Rafa had to buy potential due to lack of funds!). Potential and the finished article are 2 different things - potential is realised later and is not immediate as the finished article (look at Lucas, Agger, Skirtl)......I always believed Rafa deserved another year at least - H+G and Purslow thought otherwise - so I believe Kenny desreves at least another year to see the potential of his signings realised (except for Adam).

the real question is why we aren't able to buy the finished article any more? Clearly because we dont have the money.....why dont we have the money? Ask FSG why 2 years into ownership, we are still no further down the road to increased capacity or new stadium , leaving us £70m less in matchday revenue than Man Utd each season.
If we could even buy one or two "finished articles", we wouldn't be wondering if Kenny or Rafa was the right man - they just work within the constraints of the job they have , the real reason for our current position on the field is down to the previous and current owners!

WTF? Look at the money we've wasted on thrash.

KKM..

Good post - probably closer to the truth than you may think - the difference between signing potential and 'finished article' is wages - this is where we cannot and will not compete.

13 May 2012 10:42:01
Ed, did you say we are expecting an announcement today or so? And where did you get this news from?

I do hope we don't go for Martinez, he won't be given time by fans if he starts poorly. {Ed002's Note - During the week it came up that there would be a statement made by the club at the end of the season. There is no indication of what it would be about, but certainly there has been no press conference arranged at this time.}

13 May 2012 09:56:35
hi eds since people seem to think kennys gone, yet to name new manager who is buying all these players were being linked with? {Ed002's Note - Dalglish is still Liverpool manager and regardless of what happens will continue to do what is best for the club. Managers have nothing to do with transfer negotiations and even though people are linking Liverpool with dozens of players they are not being bought just yet. The club will continue to operate regardless of what happens with the staff.}

13 May 2012 10:01:39
as our next manager i think we should go for bernd schuter if kenny i to leave the managers position, what do you think eds and macca

Well he have won La liga with Rael so yes can be, But I will like to see Kloop. he is master in use of young player.

13 May 2012 10:01:31
I really hope Kenny stays. He defends and protects his players. We should defend and protect him.
In Kenny I trust

13 May 2012 09:55:31
Eds... Is this Ian Ayre statement still happening after the match today? Any ideas? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know. There is nothing planned in terms of a press conference but it was made clear during the week that a statement would be made by the club at some point.}

13 May 2012 09:48:29
Hey guys,

Just wondering, which according to you, would be the best performance we put up this season?
For me, it'd be the 4-1 thrashing of the Blues last week and a tie for second place between the Merseyside Derby at Anfield (Stevie G hat-trick) and the Carling Cup Semi Final second leg at Anfield (Bellamy haunting City).

What do you guys think?
Cheers,
sama491

Performance arsenal at anfield wrong result but we battered them all game i still shake my head in disbelief that we lost that game that seemed to be when things started going wrong in the league ill never understand how we lost it iv never seen arsenal dominated for such long periods of a game as we did just think what the result would have been if we would have had a goal scorer like van persie on our team we probably would have won that game 6 nil oh well maybe next year

Probably the same, but sweet knocking utd out of the cup. 2-1 - Thanks Dirk!

Can people drop this obbsession with DOF, it's tiring. Also the same names are constantly brought up munain ect. People have watched a couple of games and seen these players doing ok. Then bought them on FIFA and think there awesome!! Most of the posts are just repeats throughout the week and it's getting boring! I understand people have opinions, but to me it's just the same old garbage time and time again. The bandwagon is full again and if we win/lose or draw.. Its going to be the same old. Just stop moaning and pointing out the obvious

Stop moaning

Exactly bored of repeats!

I watch Munian every week and he is going to be a star

I still think we really need a DCM.When Lucas got injured I think that's when our season really went down hill rapid.Jay spearing is our only cover in a holding midfielder and you can't rely on Gerrad to fill that role as cover coz he too is always injured. So I still believe we are in need of a good holding midfielder,A right winger with pace and dose not cut in on his left foot and a top goal poacher adding these 3 top players to the squad we already have I believe we could really break into the top four.

the recent comment regarding transfers from KK seems to demonstrate what I have felt about the squad for most of the season.

back under Rafa, we had a cracking starting 11, enough to compete with anyone. if you all remember, he took us to 2nd in the league, setting a record as the highest PL points tally achieved without actually winning the title (at the time). the big problem, and one of the main criticisms of Rafa, was that we had no strength in depth.

Since KK came back, he and his staff have built a good strong squad, but no obvious strong "starting 11". there is depth now, probably as good or better than we have ever had since the PL started. Players like Adam and Downing have been so-so at best this season, and it's easy to say that we should sell them. However, would anyone really have a problem if they were part of the squad, rather than the players we build the team around?

For example, when Lucas got injured, we didn't really have a good option behind him. So, if you take the left wing as an example, would we have a problem with Downing if he was the back up / alternative option to a better left wing player? I wouldn't, personally.

KK and co have built the foundations over the past 18 months. What I hope to see this summer is that we now start building on top of that, and signing players of better quality in some key positions than we have now. We have played some of the best football I have ever seen us play this year. We have also played some of the worst. If the "foundations" can throw out those good performances, imagine what they can do with even a couple real quality signings.

However, I have a feeling the players we sign will fall more under the "squad player" brackets.

And just to finish with a question for the Eds, do you suspect, like I do, that our most important signing this year will not be a player, but the DOF? {Ed002's Note - I don't see how they can be compared.}

Your post is ridiculous - how can you say Rafa had a starting 11 ?? He changed his team for 99 games in a row !! Do your homework before you make yourself look like a tool

First of all:
1. we DO NOT need 2 strikers, maybe 1, but just maybe... the problem this season is delivery for BIG ANDY, if he had been delivered in the box form our wingers he would be in much much better scoring form (last 2 weeks he is just outstanding (just saying)), so what we need is 1 creative attacking midfielder (likes Belhanda, Muniain...), and right winger (my personal favourite A. Johnson, maybe Susaeta...)

2. I really do not know what to say about our situation with KD.. He has failed some games tacticly, and many many games were just unlucky for us (crossbars and stuff :D)

and last thing: if we do get another stirker, the question would be: who will play with Suarez upfront, will we play 4-3-3, or maybe suarez as cf, with 2 strikers.. Idk really... :DD

regards Luka.

Luka, the problem with big andy this season was his complete lack of interest and effort. he has quite simple been poor apart from the last month or so. 4 premeir league goals in 34 games this season is nothing short of abysmal.

Steve

I reckon Suarez would be better attacking left

Once Carroll put the past behind him, after the NUFC game, his form all of a sudden came back...his heart was still with Newcastle before I think but he made a decision and now we see how good he really can be!!

It does not help that Downing struggles to get past people to put a ball in.

good mornin eds quick question. is the behind the scenes documentary still being filmed? and have you any idea when its due to be aired? plus with it being an american network company does that mean it will only be shown on american tv n the brits have to wait awhile? cheers CRAIG {Ed002's Note - I think filming is now complete and the schedule is for it to be shown in the United States around Septaember or October but the exact date is not yet identified. I do not know if there are plans to show it anywhere else just yet, but no doubt there will be at some point. There was a lot of backlash from Liverpool supporters over the agreement to allow Fox to make this documentary and I don't know if that will influence any decisions about showing it in the UK.}

Ed do you think a decision has been taken about kenny yet? Also surely if he goes they won't replace him with a manager who has never done anything with a top club eg martinez, rodgers etc? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know what teh situation is right now.}

Said it before say it again take a look at Dortmund, Quality quality quality, they set a
great example, hard working, good football, good manager with up and coming hungry players,

That's why they're the best team in Germany.... Not hard to work that one out! It's like saying city are a good team

Klopp bring out best young player and make them a star .

I think Bayern might be the example to follow. Constantly promoting young players from within and then spending big on 1 or 2 great players a season. Look at their first 11. 6 or 7 from the youths and stars like Ribery and Robben.

It is not the owners, but King Kenny who is going to give it one more year. This season he has taken another battering with the Suarez episode. If he does not get top 4 then he will walk and take up the ambassadorial role he previously occupied . By that time other managers will be available. Bergistain will come in as DoF but his brief will not be the same as Comolli. He will be tasked with ensuring our youngsters develop into future first team players or marketable players with sell on value. There will be no wholesale transfer activity. The team needs confidence and continuity. 2 possibly 3 first team players- right back, right wing and another striker. Henderson will be moved to centre mid, deputy for SG. The big announcement? Probably the departure of Steve Clarke.

Owners angry over the Suarez situation thinkin it makes the club look bad all these people theyve sacked now rumours over Ian Ayre that makes are club look a disgrace who'd wanna come to us with all out business open one foot wrong an ur gone startin to hate the club I've always loved

Don't put yourself out mate. I'm sure the light blue hoards along the East Lancs Road would welcome your support with open arms. At least for today, then you could ditch them too if they lose today ...
ND

What business out in the open? Comolli and Cotton have both left on good terms, while there's nothing more than rumours about Ayre. We could have sacked Comolli and Cotton, who then both gave tell-all interviews to the tabloids. But no, it was sorted out discreetly and professionally so what are you moaning about? Think the owners should keep people in jobs they're not happy with?!

Kieran

Hate the Club!!

To even say that you've never Loved the club. Off you trot to another club

When you get there Try putting your name after your posts coward.

Lyndon

If i did not do my job the way the boss expected i would be sacked , just because they have a fab job at lfc does not mean they have to keep it .red mick tag

They gave the people who were there when they took over a chance.
They have not cut the mustard so off you go. Should think half of he sacking are to do with the Badly handled Suarez Saga!!

Commendateions to FSG. Clearing the deadwood and pushing the club forward. I expect no one important to the team ATM to leave. These guys are savvy and understand the team performing next year makes there assets and assets in development more viable.
FSG are smart enough Also to know KK has got an ordinary team playing excellent football (finishing not withstanding).
Expect only 2-3 important signings ( De Jong, Ramirez and a CB ).
Only players to leave will be those with youngsters and new transfers nipping at there heals ( Maxi/Kuyt ).
We have just suffered the tough part of the growing pains. Toughed out good results ( for the cattle we had ) and a trophy. We blooded kids ( Shelvey, Kelly, Coates, Henderson and YES even spearing ).
We just completed a purge similar to what Barca did a decade ago. Good results ahead.

Also support the new kit, to many sides a new kit can be a new lease on life ie 2001 Denver Broncos changed kits and won back to back superbowls...just saying.
RedfernRed

FSG will make the club as valuable as possible and create superior cash flow so when it comes to building the stadium or redevelop Anfield their borrowing costs will be as low as possible.

Wise moves.

Long live the king

Looking ahead to next season if we kept hold of our players and didn't sign anyone we would still have a strong starting line up - if everyone performed.

Playing in 4 2 3 1 system

Reina
Johnson
Skrtel
Agger
Enrique
Lucas
Henderson
Downing
Gerrard ( you could swap Suarez and Gerrard if you wanted Gerrard more on right and Suarez central)
Suarez
Carroll

Just a few points - Ive seen a few mails about how we play better when Gerrard not playing and I think this needs to be addressed. When Gerrard doesn't play other players like Hendo and Shelvey etc are able to play their game. When Gerrard plays they seem to lose confidence in their abilities and look to pass to him and expect him to produce the creative pass or run.

Vice versa Gerrard abandons his role and goes searching for the ball and doing the jobs of the CM's - as seen in FA Cup where Gerrard dropped deep which left Suarez isolated. Somehow we have to get the players to trust their abilities so we can let Lucas and Hendo sit in CM and Gerrard to attack from advanced midfield and break into box. I would also play Shelvey in this role if needed as well.

Second we must play to our strengths and that is getting the best out of Carroll. We need a midfield player to run from deep and effective crosses whether from Downing or the fullbacks. Carroll has started to show how he can now dominate a defence and if we continue we can get a lot of joy.

Carragher has been a fantastic servant but time has caught up and if everyone is fit he shouldn't be 1st choice - he drags the team back to our 18 yd box. However if he does not want to leave he can be fantastic as coaching role and 4th choice centrehalf - especially in Carling Cup and Europa lEAGUE GROUP STAGES.

If we had money I would like to sign players for Striker, Right sided midfield,Centre Midfield (either a DM or AM) and a LB ( OR ONE WHO CAN PLAY BOTH FULLBACK POSITIONS).

Some players would go - Aurelio, poss Maxi, Kuyt Cole, Aquilani, Spearing.

Ialso think we need to lay off the owners - after the farce that was H & G all I want are responsible owners who run the club like a business but with a passion for the club. I don't want us spending 50/60 mill each season ad esp not on 28 yr old plus players. We have invested in young talent and its now time to make it work.

And finally I have no preference of whether Kenny stays or goes - though whateverhappens he will always have the best interests of LFC in his heart. If there was an outstanding managerial candiate the I would like them to be given a 5 year contract and plan to progress LFC until we were challenging for titles consisitently in 5 yrs. However I would rather have Kenny and a better coaching staff ( i.e finishing and goal keeping)than a run of the mill candidate.

Yes the League has been very bad ( though our performances are better than our results), but the cup form shows the team can compete with the best - they now need to develop that into a league season.

All in all we as fans need to be unified and play our part also - support the players, support the club, ad remind everyone even if we aren't on top of the League, why we are the greatest football club because of our values, fairness, wit and humour and passion for football.

I hope we are not seeing the start of a 'mass exodus' of players from the club.
Suppose we need to be realistc about it, and say without CL football in the immediate future, this has to be expected!!.

Really? Who's leaving?

Stop with the B.S all Liverpool need to do is being in a couple good cm like Alonso macharno type players to give us an extra push in games, anther striker Luuk de Jong/soldado neither will break the bank. we have a good team believe in the reds

Hi ed, sorry but rant first!

I can't beleave u all getting on king k back! Please remember what team he had when he started and what we have now! We won the League cup and got to the final of the fa cup in his first full year! That a lot more than I thought we would get this year!! We are not man city or chelsea and we cant buy the league and I would not want to! Get off his back and be real red fans!

IN KK WE BELEAVE!

Now ed what would u say to are chances of gettin Alonso back? He said on LFCTV that if Liverpool bid for him it would be hard to say no.

We need a right winger do u not think j cole could be the man we need?

Thanks ed great work has always :)

I doubt j cole is coming back

Look at the table Kenny has spent £115m & teams like Newcastle & Everton who have spent far far less then we did are above us, None of the top 5/6 teams wanted to win the FA or the league cup that why we won 1 and lost the other..
As long as Kenny stays we well never play champions league football, we are 34pt behind the top 2 & 14pt of the top 4 what makes this even worse is we are 13pt of Newcastle.
We need to wake up our club is heading the same way as Leeds & Newcastle (everybody thought these teams were too big to go down) they both did!! Kenny isn't the man to keep us up next season look at the league table & the stats don't lie we've only won 5 league games in 2012 only wolves have a worse record!!
Dave

"None of the top 5/6 teams wanted to win the FA or the league cup that why we won 1 and lost the other"

Didn't Chelsea win the FA cup? And who did we beat in the league cup semi? Man City wasn't it? Didn't United lose the other semi-final?

Our record this season against the top clubs has been very good. We have lacked consistancy against the lower teams and dropped some easy points. With the addition of a couple of offensive players we will hopefully create better chances against these teams and take them.

We have also missed Lucas for much of the season. Before he was injured we averaged something like 1.91 points per game, after Lucas got injured we averaged 1.16 points per game. It is a very simplistic view but if Lucas had not got injured and we continued that point average we would be on 70 points and in third place.

As I say it is a very simplistic view but it underlines how important Lucas is to us and the lack of any quality replacement for him. With a Lucas playing as he did before his injury back in the team we will be closer to the top teams, not the bottom.

JRG

I think you'll find it city & Utd played there b team most of the time, Kenny is to blame for lacked of consistancy a manager should be able to get his team up for every game?
