Eds is Viktor Fischer a viable option please in the summer as reports seem to be gathering pace with some saying he has been offered to us via a third party?

Kids are back to school ;-)

Red-Rum on behalf of all kids I would like to dissociate modern youths with such pessimism and ignorance

Toddythered you're obviously going to put up with this after admitting to be 14. most likely no one will take you seriously nor do they have any reason to. I'm not having a go just the way it is. and trying to make "youths" sound more sophisticated with statements like that shall change nothing. embrace being young rather than trying to convince people you're older or more mature before your time. plenty of time for that in your life. again please don't take this as criticism towards you personally or anyone for that matter. more so advice.

And to the rest of yous kids are going to be kids they'll be naive and downright personic at times but don't generalize them just because of one who is particularly personic!

A keep the peace post is all this is ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

ShaneK point taken but my mates do take the p**s with my use of sophisticated grammar/ vocab
But don't worry I've had fun enough to get myself suspended from school :'p

Agree0 Disagree0

Shanek, that is a horrible statement, you're going to dismiss all opinions of the youth just like that, I'm sure some are 10x smarter and more open minded that yourself. I know you said it may not apply to all, but does his age affect his opinions?

Agree0 Disagree0

Shanek i'd have to agree with some of the previous comments above. I'm a young man and I find it unfair to think that people just dismiss 'young' peoples views as unjustified due to their age, when in actual fact they are more intelligent and knowledgable than their older counterparts.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - Ageism ;) }

Conbicks did I once say I dismissed his opinion I merely stated that he is going to have to deal with that from a lot of people. and as to getting into a who's smarter debate I think I'll just ignore that part

Big game Sunday!

We need to stop asking the eds about this player and this player.

Let's concentrate on the players with have at the moment. Texeira is a fresh face.

Let's do this, top 3!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have agreed to watch the match with 2 united fans, so I hope the red men don't put me through an afternoon of abuse by getting the wrong result!

I am confident we can win there with our pace up against Vidic, Ferdinand, Jones, Carrick, Evra, Smalling.
Keep it tight at the back and we will be in a great position.

We just need to make sure we are not complacent, get the right result then watch the North London Derby knowing any result would be good for us in some way.

Just got a little bit of a question for everyone. who does everyone think is the best ever player to ever grace anfield in a red shirt for me growing up I have always idolised Mr Liverpool himself stevie for me he is the most complete player I have ever had the pleasure to watch can do the simple things with ease and pull something phenomenal out of nowhere the bloke is a genius at times what's ed01s?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - different eras, different players, different areas of the pitch, all those have their own best player. Best forward is Dalglish, that I have seen. Best midfielder would be Souness, though he was the worst manager and didn't stay long enough to become a true legend, in my opinion. Best defender is without doubt Hansen, so calm and composed. Grob would win the vote for best keeper, purely because I didn't really get the chance to see Clem play for us. I couldn't choose any one of them, they are all great in their own way. If my grandad was here, he would be telling me off for not mentioning Liddell too!}

Best Player: King Kenny
Favorite Player: Crazy Horse

Agree0 Disagree0

Has to be heskey! lol

has to be stevie g in my time just an absolute machine!

was also very fond of hyypia

Agree0 Disagree0

Almost impossible to choose 1player per position, so here's my view.
Forward: Kenny followed very closely by Suarez, if Suarez has a long career here (highly unlikely I know) and keeps doing what he has done he could match Kenny.For an out and out goal scorer, Rushie.
Midfield: Stevie, followed by Souness.Stevie, total all rounder, Souness classy assassin.
Defender: Hansen, cool as you like, utter class. Emlyn Hughes, total enthusiasm and commitment and could play more than a bit.
Keeper: Clemence followed by Clemence, simple choice in my opinion, should have got 100 + England caps, he made saves look easy when Shilton played to the cameras and made saves look hard.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Ed001 on all but Grob, having seen Clemence, hard to go past for all round game. For great entertainment, I'd try and find a spot for Keegan somewhere

Agree0 Disagree0

Also, for downright cheek and arrogance got to fit Fowler in.

Agree0 Disagree0

I won't disagree with anyone on their choices (we've had some truly special players play for us); however my personnel favorite was Barnes (before the injuries / reverting to a CM role); he was amazing on the wing.

I remember many an argument explaining how Liverpool got the best out of him and that England didn't play to his strengths.

Although I'm not condoning his wearing of tights ;o)

Hoola

PS: with the current squad I'd love a Barnes, Hansen and Souness in it (oh and maybe Mr Kennedy at left back).

Agree0 Disagree0

Best player is Gerrard

My favourite Liverpool player was Kevin Keegan I know he is boxed away with Michael Owen. But he was a dynamo and as sharp as a scalpel. He was the focal point of our seventies success.

Agree0 Disagree0

Best player is a hard one, different balls/pitches/pace/diets plus the tackle rule bk in the day etc etc, I think the question should be idol instead of best player, even thou Stevie g could grace any Liverpool team in the past, my idol when I went the match was the king.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some golden oldies in there truly, but I honestly think its Suarez. I don't want to give the typical modern Liverpool supporter's blind view of Suarez as some sort of deity. But in my 20 odd years of being a supporter he is just something else.

Agree0 Disagree0

Seen many great players playing over the years but the 4 players I allways say to myself is if they were here now ( Dalglaish and barnes ) and if they were there then ( gerrard and fowler) questions are endless possibilities are endless but we would prob be looking at someth like we are looking at now because we be scoring for fun but then again we allready are lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe its because I started off as a goal hanger and scored loads but I loved Rush and then Fowler growing up. completely irrational but a number 9 shirt has always been special.

In many ways I feel honoured to still watch Gerrard, he's a tremendous footballer. look at interviews with his teammates, they all rate him as the best they've played with. Most recently both Sturridge and Suarez. He can play anywhere and be great. I still laugh at people on here saying he's finished. if anything he's been reinvigorated after injuries!

Agree0 Disagree0

Noshbag, I've been watching us for 40+ years mate and I agree about Suarez, he does some things other players wouldnt, couldn't and shouldn't even think of. Can't split Kenny and Stevie and Suarez as they all had/have different qualities in different eras in differing quality teams so it really is an impossible task isn't it.

best player dalglish
fav player john aldridge

as you say ed all the different eras have their top players and when I was young dalglish was like a god setting rush up scoring for fun a bit like now.john aldo was a great finisher and all the irish lads we had were big heros of mine aldo, houghton, ronnie, beglin, robinson, how aldo carrys himself his passion for Liverpool like roy evans I didn't like the way it ended for him at Liverpool he was let go at least 2 season too early for me but his love for the club didn't change, I forgot lawrenson from my list of irish players maybe he didn't show enough love for the club to get in lol.

50s billy liddle
60s roger hunt
70s keegan
78-85 dalglish
85-86 rush
87-91 barnes
91-98 2 best players at the club redknapp, fowler.
98-2010 gerrard
2010-present suarez

that how I see the very top player at the club in different eras I think the 90s were a bit of a let down for us really but redknapp deserves a mention as for me he was 1 of the best midfielders in europe very unlucky with injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey eds and reds
My player would be someone who I guess nobody would of heard of?!?!
For somebody who embodied everything that you want from an LFC man.
Played for the club and scored 38 in 60.
Then stayed on Merseyside after and carried on following the reds all across Europe.
His name Tony Rowley and i'm his proud grandson.
I now sit in his seat in the centenary, and the guy who had sat next to him for 20 years told me at a match recently, that the only reason he knew that my gdad was a former red was because he was reading the programme before a match and there was a pic of him in it. He just asked him if it was him and my gdad said yes and that was all ha. That just sums up why the older generation are the best. True gentlemen, loyal and modest.
Thats why my number one can only be the same one every time.
What a man and what a red YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

Veggard Heggem! Conversation over!

Agree0 Disagree0

Red dawn no way convo over torben piechnik or dundee now convo over lol we've had some grwat players over the years with a smatterung of bad ines too my first ever shirt I got signed was torbe piechnik my mum threw it away imgine such a collectors item now it could be worth millions

Agree0 Disagree0

For me it was Keegan and then Dalglish. However now it has to be Stevie, especially the way he's stayed with the club through the barren years.
Such a massive shame that people on this site keep having a go at him. These so called 'fans' will only realise how good he was when he's gone.

Alright lads just posting for fun if were to loose suarez for players to Madrid what do you think of Isco and Morata

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't think Isco would join nor that we would spend 40-50% of the transfer we MAY get for Suarez (I'm sure Suarez would be heavily rewarded if we sold for £80+ million).

Great to hear Suso talking about signing a new contract at LFC and prepared to fight for a first team place next season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You beat me to it, Kopite. That's what I came on the site to write. He comes across as a nice, intelligent and grounded lad he and as you say, it's great to hear that he loves the club and wants to stay. Here's hoping it can be worked out by all parties as I really like him as a player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Word is there's an attitude problem. Maybe one of the Ed's can fill us in? Where would you see him fitting in next season? I'd assume after regular playing time he'd be after some assurances?

Ed001, I noticed the other day that you talked about Kelly and Wisdom having being converted to full backs. Do you feel as though Wisdom will be able to stake a claim for a CB place?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I doubt he will be allowed to, he is seen as being too short, unless he has an unlikely growth spurt. Personally I am not sure it is that big a deal, but it is not my decision.}

Thanks mate, personally would love to see him get a chance next to Sakho!

Agree0 Disagree0

I was going to post saying Liverpool reckon he's 6"1. But better than that did anyone know his middle name is Shaquille? Tremendous. We need to get him and Sakho at the back.

Does Wisdom look clumsy to anyone? To me he just looks like he'd fall over his own feet. I'm not saying he's bad, he just looks like he has cleffy feet.

Hey Eds 001. Just a belated thankyou for your developed reply to my question the other day with regards to Woy and the Evans tenure. I read today that Evans tried to but Batistuta to play alongside Robbie. Now that would have been something, even an out of date Batigoal and Fowler in his pomp would have been sensational. I just wished Evans had bought a decent defender or two we would have won the title. It's a shame we didn't get Dessailley but saying that we could of ended up with Winston Bogarde.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Evans kept trying to buy defenders, Moores would not release the money for them. He even told Roy that that the pot was empty and he couldn't have any more players, just a few days before he went and signed Collymore for 8.5m! Roy asked him to sign a defender and was told we couldn't afford it, but then gets given a striker.}

I've heard stories about Moores thinking he was one of the lads and the players just thought he was a joke. It's a shame Evans didn't have a pair of cahoona's we could of added to 19 titles. Thanks for your insight eds 001

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Evans tried, but what could he do? Moores was in charge, he was holding the purse strings. When things got to awkward, Moores just brought in Houllier to force Roy out.}

I did'nt realise that Moores was that dastardly eds001. My recollection is vague but I thought the reason Houllier came in was to steady the ship and instill some discipline as Evans couldn't or wouldn't. He was just too nice. I didn't realise he was getting undermined by Moores. To be honest I really liked Houllier and the results we achieved under his guidance. But I lost all respect for him when he had a pop at Rafa. I would not urinate on him if he was on fire now. I have nothing but contempt. i'm sorry if this offends any Reds out there but from what I have heard he was pretty acerbic towards Rafa without justification or provacation. Rafa could french kiss the HRH The Queen in public and still be a demi-god in my eyes the guy won the Champions League with Igor Biscan and Djimi Traore. And don't forget Monste and Rafa's endless charity work for the local community.

if you read fowlers book he says in it that if roy was left alone he had some really good youngsters coming through to the first team carra, thompson, matteo, s wright, gerrard.mixed with players like berger and a 100m that houllier got to spend and we would have won the premiership under roy, he also states that roy wasnt afraid to make difficult decisions, imo roy is a living legend of the club who has given a great part of his life to Liverpool he deserves more respect given the restraints he had to operate in, some of these players he tried to buy would have brought us on, I seen him saying on lfc that he tried to sign sheringham and almost got that through, him and fowler up front late 90s would have been awsome, but moores prob wanted heskey instead with a sell on fee on his mind.

what the situation with sissoko, reading as off late we opted not to take him full time. what have you herd.
also do you reckon we will bid for tello again?

{Ed002's Note - There is no situation that I am aware of with Cissokho. I would not hold your breath over Tello.}

what are the chances of luis suarez staying at anfield next season? heard his comments about serie a and know juventus are interested

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is not worth the grief to discuss this to be honest.}

Thats definitely a can of worms not worth opening but saurez does like to comment on lots of clubs strange for a guy who just got a new contract and says he's happy hope he stays needs to shut up on other clubs tho

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2014 13:13:53
i guess. this cauliflower cheese with him is getting really annoying.champions league should surely make him stay

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it was a good piece of business to sign Suarez to a new contract. As much as I like him as a player, he will go probably go to Real Madrid. By extending his contract, LFC have upped the payment demand for him. Now, clubs that want him will have to pay Bale and Ronaldo money to get him. A brilliant move by LFC in my opinion, and one that will allow us to get possibly 3 really good players for 1 Suarez

Hey Reds and Eds,

I see you said in May last year that Monaco and a london club may be interested in Valdes.

Any updates on him?
Liverpool interested?

Thanks!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has a goalkeeper already.}

They have more than one, I was just asking in case they weren't happy with Mig and Valdes out of contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Only the fans are not happy with any of the players and expect them all to be replaced every season.}

Except me ed! ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Mignolet is a far better keeper than Valdes, would be the waste of a salary.

I can see the need for a good number two keeper, but that's all, maybe the lad at reading?

Agree0 Disagree0

Whether we want / need another keeper or not - can you see Valdes moving for nothing less than a huge sign-on fee and wages?

I don't think we will bid for that reason alone.

Hoola

Agree0 Disagree0

I like Jones as a person, he seems like a pretty decent bloke and has never let us down. But can he push Mignolet? Not enough probably but I don't see any big money goalie signing (or necessary) I did hear about us taking a lower division GK on trial so perhaps with European football we need another. I thought Given could have been a good squad player but his perfoemances have been terrible in recent years.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2014 12:56:12
I don't get this silly 'can he push him thing'

What top club do you know that changes it's goalies mid season for no reason? Jones has shown he is more than capable of deputising when he's called upon. He's also not on massive wages and happy to be No2.
