Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

13 Jul 2017 22:07:21
If we get our current targets (don't worry not going to name those names everyone talking about) this transfer window could be the best I can remember in a long time.
I then started thinking what has been our best season for transfers.
For me it has to be 1987 when we bought Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge and houghton.
Unbelievable business.
Any advances on 1987?

Believable9 Unbelievable2

13 Jul 2017 22:44:52
Was only thinking that this morning actually about what our best window was, 87 was possibly one of the best. I can't think of a better one?

13 Jul 2017 22:47:16
For as long as I can remember it has to be 87 mate.

13 Jul 2017 23:28:31
And what season that followed. Unfortunate we were not in Europe when we were so strong.

14 Jul 2017 00:03:45
Dalglish Hansen and Souness.

14 Jul 2017 02:09:03
Diouf
Diao
Le Tallac
Cheyrou.

14 Jul 2017 03:04:56
I am pretty sure we won't be signing any players at the levels of these 3 during this window!

14 Jul 2017 06:05:25
I loved that 87 transfer period but the year we got invaded by scots turned us into a team that dominated both England and Europe for over 6 years.

13 Jul 2017 21:55:16
I'm struggling to understand all of the excitement/ activity on these boards.

We were always just going to be adding a few additions to our squad to cope with the CL. Salah has come in already, and it's likely VVD and Robertson will join over the summer to provide us with much needed defensive backup. With Moreno going the other way, and probably Sakho too.

Other than that I'm unsure why this page is so busy. Nothing else will likely happen, and hopefully we will keep hold of Coutinho.

If anything else does happen it's a bonus and we'll be thankful for it as a nice surprise. Thanks for all your hard work Eds. it seems us Pool fans keep you busier than any other PL team on this site. It's appreciated and any response you provide, no matter how basic due to some silly requests is simply awesome.

With love, HHH1.

Is it true that you were once Batista Bombed through Brock Lesnar's coffee table by John Cena?

13 Jul 2017 23:50:35
Quality mk πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

13 Jul 2017 21:13:07
Thanks for the awesome site eds, I have read many of your comments on klopp and sakho but the β€œFirst of all he needs to get 100% fit and then we will see. " Comment klopp made, Is that klopp just giving an answer to avoid further questions or is their a chance sakho could redeem himself.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Right now the two interested sides have called Liverpool's bluff and moved on to other taergets - so perhaps he is hedging his bets.}

13 Jul 2017 21:52:06
Thanks for the reply eds much appreciated.

13 Jul 2017 20:45:08
The 'BILD' from Germany are reporting we've had a Β£57 million pound bid rejected for Keita.

Believable9 Unbelievable2

13 Jul 2017 22:48:30
Not true mate. can't be.

14 Jul 2017 00:18:20
It's not the offer but the structure of payment that has been turned down. I expect the deal to happen by next week. He is 100% joining us!

13 Jul 2017 19:10:50
Hi Eds,

Just a post in relation to our fullback options and Liverpool's inability to make first class signings. It feels like if LFC cannot sign Keita or Van Dijk there is no alternative and it seems Jurgen is happy to continue with Milner at LB. Don't get me wrong, I think Milner has done a great job when LFC dominate games, Milner struggles defensively while Clyne is limited offensively, Man City are prepared to pay Β£100m on 2 fullbacks in Walker and Mendy while Liverpool are contemplating Tierney and Robertson, it's a shocking contrast in ambition!

Believable4 Unbelievable9

13 Jul 2017 20:44:23
I would love to see the fullback situation taken care of before reinforcing any other part of the squad. In Klopp's system, the full backs provide the majority of the width with a holding mid dropping to provide cover. Neither Milner nor Clyne are successful in this role. Both are average in both departments. However, there are very few fullbacks in the world who are capable of both defending in a high press system, as well as providing the necessary outlet in attack. And the ones who are capable are either unavailable or don't seem to want to join Liverpool. This isn't FIFA where you can purchase any player you want if you have the funds. That being said, I will remain optimistic that we bring in a fullback for both flanks.

13 Jul 2017 20:45:25
Tierney won't join us.

13 Jul 2017 21:19:14
What makes you so sure Tierney won't join us? Celtic and Liverpool have very good links historically, especially in countries like Ireland and Scotland, and you often find fans of one tend to support the other. Not saying he will but it seems daft to totally rule it out.

13 Jul 2017 21:23:51
Well said Yankee I can't see why people (not including ed1) can't see with the addition of a player like Mendy we would have a great chance of the league even without vvd or naby.

13 Jul 2017 21:59:31
I think Hansens scar is referring to the fact that Tierney has said he is happy to progress at Celtic, not least as he's a boyhood Celtic supporter.

He has also been quoted (reported earlier today on these boards, search for his name) as saying that he would prefer a move to Man Utd when he's ready to move on.

Right or wrong, that seems to be the guy's preference.

And don't forget there's been a few moves between Celtic and Man Utd over the years too.

13 Jul 2017 19:06:27
Anyone got much of a report from our recent friendly?
Was Tranmere as I remember, any young lads impress?
I'm going to watch the Wigan game tomorrow, looking forward to seeing how were getting on.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

13 Jul 2017 20:03:25
Might find the highlights on YouTube.

13 Jul 2017 20:15:16
First Half - Ojo was our best player. Sturridge looked up and lively played some good passes and made decent runs. Firmino's positioning was excellent but his touch was off understandably. TAA was also another one who impressed and a lot of our play passed through him. Grujic also got up and about and scored a fantastic goal obviously

Second Half - Ryan Kent was fantastic. Solanke and Woodburn were both impressive. Well taken penalty by Woodburn who looked to have bulked up. Markovic was quiet.

13 Jul 2017 21:31:27
Good post Reet, tho I would add that Flanagan did better than expected, Woodburn does look more dangerous with bulking up, and was pleased for Grujic, who was plagued by injuries last season .

14 Jul 2017 00:20:49
Solanke was really dangerous and responsible for Pedro's goal and should have had one more. Ojo also ran rampant and won a nice penalty. Woodburn TAA Kent all impressed. Grujic I hope gets a chance this season as I think he's ready to challenge for time. Also think Ojo is ready for a premier League loan, TAA will be back up to Clyne.

13 Jul 2017 23:52:44
Many impressed! Grujic had the best moments!

13 Jul 2017 17:25:37
Evening fellow Reds, I think we all need to take a little chill pill with regards to our so called lack of movement in the transfer market we have already signed 2 quality players in Salah and Solenke without breaking the bank and I know deep down come August everything will be sorted with regards to our problem areas. Although some see Klopp as a clown sometimes he is no idiot and he knows better than anyone where our problems lie and who we need to get in to sort out these issues. So hold tight and keep calm everyone rome wasnt built in a day it will all come good in the end mark my words . In Klopp we trust YNWA.

Believable7 Unbelievable4

13 Jul 2017 20:00:17
Why do i have a feeling, klopp won't sign any players for our problem areas! Or is it just me?

13 Jul 2017 21:54:26
Just you.

He has already addressed 1 of our 3 problem areas by signing Salah!

13 Jul 2017 23:27:45
Salah plays the same position as mane, so no that's bs! Right wing didn't look a problem to me when mane was fit! πŸ˜‰ So again as I said PROBLEM areas!

13 Jul 2017 23:51:29
When Mane was fit. A d qhen he wasn't?

14 Jul 2017 00:22:52
Yeah but when we lost Mane we lost momentum. Get Henderson and Mane fit add a left back and let city buy the world. We have a very talented squad just needs fine tuning in a few areas not a 250 million investment on 4 5 players.

13 Jul 2017 16:30:10
Heard negotiations are back on with Southampton for VVD. Prob a load of bollocks, I for one hope it's true though.

Believable10 Unbelievable9

13 Jul 2017 17:10:37
Ed002 has said we are not Steve and the player is away with his club in Austria. Arsenal are keen on him. Sorry mate but we need to move on.

13 Jul 2017 17:31:54
Thought as much mate cheers.

13 Jul 2017 23:03:44
Ain't going to happen as the owners have stepped in to stop the all interest and pursuit of VVD. We really need to move on, really.

13 Jul 2017 16:25:32
Hi Eds. Can you give us a list of players we're in talks with/ interested in and a percentage on how likely they are to sign? Thanks :)

Believable2 Unbelievable11

{Ed002's Note - No we are not going to be doing anything like that.}

13 Jul 2017 17:16:08
To how many decimal places would you like the percentages, Beckio?

:)

13 Jul 2017 20:26:17
How about on a scale from 1-10 then ed? haha.

13 Jul 2017 16:06:15
Angel correa on sky sports linked for a few days now hope it true need a striker to come in but we don't seem at panicking yet about a left back.

Believable2 Unbelievable10

13 Jul 2017 16:11:03
To add to the 5 decent strikers we already have at the club.

13 Jul 2017 17:31:45
And I doubt any main first team players will be leaving Athletico this transfer window as they can't be replaced.

14 Jul 2017 00:25:26
We aren't sure what Ings brings to the table, Solanke is as impressive as any young striker in England at the moment and Origi is a great option if Sturridge and Firmino can't go. We don't need a striker.

13 Jul 2017 16:02:34
Just heard dean Saunders is saying we should sign giroue. I hope this doesn't happen. Surely he is too lazy to play for klopps liverpool.

Believable3 Unbelievable9

13 Jul 2017 23:33:23
Dean Saunders? Sorry but he may have an opinion but Giroud, the guy who spent a good chunk of last season on the bench? No thanks.

13 Jul 2017 15:36:36
Salah now eligible to play for LFC.

13 Jul 2017 20:29:03

13 Jul 2017 13:27:30
Reet, i've got an idea for an article for you, here's the title

The Rise and Fall of AlansBarnett: From in the know to know one knows!

Look forward to reading it!

Believable12 Unbelievable8

13 Jul 2017 13:39:28
I think it's been more of a disappearance into the bushes rather than fall. If we do sign Keita sometime I fully expect him to come out saying "I told you so"

13 Jul 2017 14:03:02
Alans off his Barnet lol. I enjoyed his posts.

13 Jul 2017 14:03:18
Think he said it was happening every day for about a month πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

13 Jul 2017 14:44:35
Just got a text from Alan, he reckons that there will be some tommoro evening .

13 Jul 2017 15:37:21
I don't claim to be ITK but I've heard from my taxi driver we should be expecting an appearance tomorrow from alansbarnet *FYI i will post this daily until it happens* ;)

13 Jul 2017 15:51:00
We'll only be getting an appearance from his barnet though, probably in a display case.

The rest of Alan remains in hiding.

13 Jul 2017 16:24:58
Being saying it for months all he does is just use other peoples info as his own. Embarrassing.

13 Jul 2017 17:03:26
I think he's good entertainment value.

13 Jul 2017 18:53:24
You lot are well harsh. I love info like that.

13 Jul 2017 13:21:58
Moving away from any current dramas, there's always one transfer that I can never wrap my head around from a Liverpool perspective.

We had Andre Wisdom, a big and quick defender who was decent on the ball and was still young, with Prem experience, and shipped him out only to replace him with Manquillo on loan. A young Spanish lad failing to get into his current team with no experience in the Prem whatsoever.

Can any of the Eds shed any light on the reasons (if there were any) behind this?

I know it's a long time ago but it's something that's always puzzled me.

Cheers in advance.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I never understood the thinking in that one either. The reasoning given was that Manquillo was meant to be an attacking fullback with better technical skills who could play either side. Obviously no one had actually bothered to scout him (or if they had they should have been immediately sacked) or they would have known he was a terrible player with a poor workrate and no improvement on what we had.}

13 Jul 2017 13:47:59
If he moves to Liverpool, there will be fireworks but I guess it won't happen. I blame a short circuit somewhere.

13 Jul 2017 14:59:58
That made me think of Arbeloa out for Β£5M to Real Madrid and Glen Johnson in for Β£17.5M - another headscratcher. tho nowhere near as odd as the Robbie Keane debacle.

I know we all regret Xabi and Masch going too soon but what's the biggest transfer balls up in recent memory? Tempted to say getting rid of Calamity James and Brad Friedel considering the form they went on to have later on in their careers and the inconsistency we had with keepers when they left. Sander Westerweld anyone?

13 Jul 2017 15:28:43
Buying Andy Carroll.

13 Jul 2017 17:27:07
i think arbeloa though a really good right back for us wasn't going to command a high fee, we didn't pay much for him and he wanted to go to madrid so for once the club were decent with a player and allowed the move. robbie keane however was a different story and by all accounts was living a thoroughly less than professional lifestyle so benitez outed him, should have replaced him though.
biggest waste of money for me would be el hadji diouf for his disgraceful behaviour in a liverpool shirt and for sizeable investment completely wasted id have to say alberto aquilani.

13 Jul 2017 17:36:11
Selling Peter Crouch when we did. I was absolutely gutted.

13 Jul 2017 21:04:40
Jovanovic, Poulsen and Konchesky - the only point in my 37 year love affair with LFC that I thought we are no longer relevant and potentially heading towards the abyss.

13 Jul 2017 22:56:41
Add Joe Cole too, BobbyF.

14 Jul 2017 00:33:28
I to this day am annoyed that Suarez and Torres were never allowed to play with each other. Of course Torres never was the same at Chelsea we got good money at the time and brought in Sturridge who meshed well with Suarez but I loved El Nino and think we win the league with those two up top. Also thought trying to replace Alonso was an idiotic thing to do as he was one of the best in world football at the time.

13 Jul 2017 23:36:43
Yet we sold Martin Kelly that season as well to accomodate two totally crap RB's in GJ and Manquillo, who were later replaced with another poor RB in Clyne, all under BR's watch. Trust me, the damage BR's incompetence did to this club is still being felt. Thank Heavens, Klopp found us TAA in the academy who to me, is the real deal.

14 Jul 2017 07:16:09
Agreed Voronin. By the way, you weren't far off from making the list. I wasn't expecting Voronin to be a world beater but I was hoping he would be a good quality attacking option.

13 Jul 2017 12:07:31
Hello Eds and reds, don't shoot me but just passing on a bit of info I've received! don't know how true it is but I was talking to an electrician on Sunday his lad plays footie with my son. Now he is friends with a contractor who is overseeing a lot of work at Anfield. And this bloke is saying the feeling around the club is that kieta will definitely sign for us and all this not for sale stance from RBL is a smoke screen just to show they are playing hard ball over their best players so not wanting to look like a soft touch to others. Like I said just what I've been told so go easy cheers πŸ‘.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

{Ed025's Note - he sounds like bright spark to me hendo but maybe hes got his wires crossed, watt on earth could be the positives here?, now i dont want to sound negative and i know he will plug a gap f-use but your ohm form may suffer as a result mate.. :)

13 Jul 2017 12:32:03
Love it ed but I'm trying to be neutral and you will probably bring me back to earth but all this talk about keita moving to Liverpool is electric but you have to look at both the negatives and positives and you never know we may be in for a shock!

{Ed025's Note - all good jamesy..

13 Jul 2017 12:55:35
πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

13 Jul 2017 13:12:22
Ah the old Smoke screen chat and old favourite of this site! Glad to see it back. or not see it.

13 Jul 2017 13:44:33
It's a smokscreen. The player we really want is Jan Kirchoffs Law!

13 Jul 2017 14:03:16
Kirchoffs Law was not something I expected to read here.

13 Jul 2017 14:25:59
Reet you know the site it gets dark at times until someone flicks the switchπŸ˜‚.

13 Jul 2017 14:26:10
My sister's brother in laws friend well he had a gardener once a week now the gardeners brother is friends with a solicitor, what I'm getting at is this solicitor, well his sister's best mates aunties partner is in the know and he's saying the same. Good info hendos. I've heard the same mate. :)

13 Jul 2017 14:48:18
Really Teabag, your squeezing the last drop out of this .

13 Jul 2017 14:53:50
Hahaha, of course mate, got to make the best cup of tea haven't I :)

13 Jul 2017 17:28:13
Like I said just what I was told. It is a rumour site isn't it?

{Ed002's Note - In discussions with another club last week they made the point very clear that any tapping up of their players going foward would result in FIFA becoming involved. They did not mention any "smokescreens".}

13 Jul 2017 17:46:09
Again its what I've been told and thought id would share. Wish I hadn't bothered.

{Ed002's Note - It's fine and it is what the site is for.}

13 Jul 2017 18:40:24
Hendo I'm just pulling your chain mate I hope it is true but when ed decided to start the electrical jokes a switch just went off inside me but I get it mate you feel like where all been negative towards you (must have a short fuse) look at the positives though I'll pull the plug on the jokes and come back down to earth with a bang.

13 Jul 2017 20:03:06
HH,

Don't take it to heart mate. Rumours like this are one of the things I love about this site, and I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that. People seem to bash them more and more as time goes on but if truth be told everyone loves a good story. Whether it's kosher or not mate. Bear in mind most people are just having a laugh and being sarcastic.

13 Jul 2017 20:32:02
Lol Jamesy hahaha!

Yeah don't worry about it Hendo mate :) no big deal fella.

13 Jul 2017 16:06:40
Good one Ed25. That reply got me really amp-ed up.

14 Jul 2017 17:39:07
Looks like my source was feeding me good info if the reports are to be believed. Your welcome guys πŸ‘.

13 Jul 2017 11:49:34
Hey one for the eds or members with good memory.

Eds. Most on here know your guys and gals information is top draw. And most respect that. But a lot of people simply want to believe unsubstantiated hype

Is there a time where any eds made major boo boo.
Like said definite no, then someone signed

or any other funny ed things?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - yes of course, I know there have been a few times we have got it wrong or missed stuff.}

13 Jul 2017 13:46:12
Ed002 made a massive error recently. He made the assumption that Wonder Dog Sparky loved him too much to leave, and drove him into the arms of another rodeo clown.

13 Jul 2017 14:36:12
All the eds are great and have done a great job on the site over the years and this is my first stop for finding any transfer activity for the club. The only time I remember a big boo boo was when I posted under a different username I had ages ago that we had interest in Lallana the summer we signed him before it hit the papers, one of the eds was adamant when he said we had no interest in Lallana but we eventually signed him that summer. But probably the best info they ever gave me was before Sturridge signed when they knew it was done and let us knew about ages before he signed.

13 Jul 2017 11:43:43
Having watched the friendly against Tranmere yesterday here's my take on some of our players :-
1. Grujic looked good making clever runs from midfield and getting himself in nice attacking positions. Given a decent run of games I think he could develop into something special.
2. Henderson looked cool and collected as usual playing that deep playmaker role. Was impressed with his passing range and intelligence on the ball. I think we have a top player in Hendo proving once again why he's captain and probably the most important player in our squad.
3. TAA was another who impressed my for his age the kid is so mature on the pitch. Just has to work on his crossing and his physicality. With humility and willingness to listen and improve he could turn out to be a really good rb.
4. Flanagan was alright. I won't say much on him but I think we should give him one last chance on either full back roles. I have a feeling he'll pay off.
5. Firmino was excellent with his usual bag of tricks. Nice passing and creating space. But I am of the opinion he has to start finding the net from Match Day 1. Am of the old school belief that the primary job of a striker is to score goals.

YNWA!

Believable4 Unbelievable1

13 Jul 2017 12:04:30
All Red, I'll only become concerned when he doesn't score in the games that count whilst playing CF, and not in pre season when it's only about fitness.

13 Jul 2017 17:46:09
Forgot to mention ojo who was sharp and had a good game, should have scored when on goal. Then there was kent who was direct and on the front foot from the minute the second half whistle went to the last, should be a serious option for the problematic left wing position if salah or mane unavailable. Could not really comment on gomez, flanno et al because tranmere only attacked about 4 times in the whole match so hard to assess the contributions from the defenders altho flanno linked up well with kent on the left but he has the same issue as milner with not having a great left peg. Otherwise i was greatly encouraged by the contribution of all the players who looked up for it. 😊.

13 Jul 2017 11:03:33
Hi Eds, a little question! Considering the current market, Which Centre back would you sign if you were the manager?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't, we need full backs more and that should be what we concentrate on signing.}

13 Jul 2017 12:21:45
Got to agree with Ed, don't understand why we are after VVD, esp at that price, while we should have other priorities.

13 Jul 2017 12:22:39
Silly question: do we need attacking full backs to put in good crosses and give us more attacking impetus? Or defensively solid full backs to lend to a more consistent defensive unit?

{Ed001's Note - the way Klopp plays, the fullbacks provide a lot of overlapping runs, so we need ones that are better at attacking.}

13 Jul 2017 12:33:20
What are your thought on Bertrand Ed? Apparently he may be available.

{Ed001's Note - he is ok, a step up from Milner for sure. I am not convinced he is anything special though.}

13 Jul 2017 13:13:37
Would never happen but if we really wanted to prioritise that left back spot i'd go all out to try and sign Alex Sandro from Juventus. Perfect going forward and solid defensively. Chelsea seems his destination this summer which is a shame.

13 Jul 2017 13:15:35
I'm sure Southampton will be all over doing business with us.

13 Jul 2017 14:24:33
Who would you like to see us getting as realistic options to bring in?

{Ed001's Note - Mendy or Ghoulam for the left, not sure on the right.}

13 Jul 2017 14:30:20
And so they should be.

13 Jul 2017 20:18:22
Got to agree with Ed here. When our fullbacks get forward they stop and pass inside allowing the opposition to get set. Then if we lose the ball we get hit on the break with only Hendo in the middle and 2 CB to stop them. Most teams just allow the fullbacks to have the ball against us because they know they won't hurt them and they will leave space in behind them. If we had 2 decent attacking fullbacks we would find it much easier to break teams down.

13 Jul 2017 09:27:35
Hi Eds

I now see that a South African Lawyer who has been involved in football transfer has now come out and said that we are in negotiations with Southampton for VVD in a official capacity this time!

Heard anything?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No, Southampton are in Austria trying to patch up the damage done to the player by Liverpool's illegal approach.}

13 Jul 2017 10:33:42
Seems like a long way to go just to patch up the damage done by Liverpool. Surely they've gone there to at least do some pre-season training as well. lol.

13 Jul 2017 11:27:21
πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

13 Jul 2017 12:03:32
Is this for the player that approached us because he wanted to leave? (Before we knew anything)

{Ed025's Note - your right jezza liverpool are totally blameless and should be applauded..southampton should now give him to liverpool for free just to show the world you do things right..

13 Jul 2017 14:31:06
Give me strength.

13 Jul 2017 11:38:46
South African lawyers eh ed002 πŸ˜‰.

13 Jul 2017 14:30:59
I never thought I'd read so much sense, and from an Everton fan of all things!

Ed025, I applaud you sir. You appear to be the only one who can see the truth of the VVD saga and have proposed the only course of action to resolve it. Ed002 could learn a thing or two from you!

13 Jul 2017 07:05:34
Morning ed002

Ive been catching up reading the posts this morning, I am not on Twitter or Instagram and have no idea who the likes of Graham Kelly are.

Can you advise please regarding Keita, have we stepped away totally now and moved on accepting what his club have said in that he is not for sale, Or do we still retain a small hope that we can get him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything changing. Liverpool has unsettled and illegally approached the player as you know. Leipzig have been clear that they do not wish to sell. Yesterday yet again I was inundated with posts firstly about Branchini, his agent, saying something or other - but Branchini isn't his agent and doesnot represent him in any way, and then about all of these journalists saying it is a done deal and he has signed. He hasn't. Klopp has changed his stance from it all being done early to telling the fans to wait - right now he is looking pretty stupid.}

13 Jul 2017 10:47:21
Cheers ed. Exactly why I don't use the social media sites as its full of shite. Only trust in what you say on here. Klopp is looking a bit daft now tbh, especially if he still beleives the 2 players mentioned daily will arrive and doesn't have any back up players. Surely he must have back ups?

13 Jul 2017 11:37:20
Moral of story Ed, everyone needs to keep their mouth shut more often?

13 Jul 2017 11:38:35
Aye mentioned daily by you. Im sure if there was any change Ed002 would somehow let us know, so please change the subject, its boring.

13 Jul 2017 12:23:52
we should be focusing on fbs and just be patient on vvd and keita imo.

13 Jul 2017 10:20:47
Everyone saying Liverpool don't need many signings completely disagree we would of challenged for the title last year if we had strength in depth when either coutinho or mane was out we didn't have players good enough and our seconds against wolves were embarrassing

For me there are and was 2 20 goal a season strikers that want to leave I have no idea why we haven't went in for one
Lacazette and abemeyang Liverpool should of made a statement and bought a proven goalscorer I like firmino but he's not a striker despite what people say.

And also baffles me why we haven't went in for a left back.

The problem with our club is that we don't go in for proven quality we go in for good or potential when you see the players city, Chelsea Man U and even Arsenal signing then you look at our own there's no comparison that's why until that changes we will always be a nearly team

Your thoughts?

13 Jul 2017 10:32:58
We are in for a LB.

We don't need a striker.

13 Jul 2017 11:22:30
again top scorers last season. why not just fix the defence instead of meddling with an attack proven to work just so we can say we have a superstar striker in the team.

13 Jul 2017 11:32:16
We have too many strikers at the moment and can't really let go. We should sell Sturridge and loan out ings.
That would make enough funds to go out and buy Correa for example.

LB, as teabag allready said, is allready in talks and will most likely be Robinson.

13 Jul 2017 11:59:22
So sell and loan out 2 strikers to bring in another attacking midfielder. Sounds good.

13 Jul 2017 12:00:16
Yeah, 2 players who have not played in the PL and have scored these amounts in different leagues.
Who's to say that Firmino will not get more goals than Lacacette this season. If he took the spot kicks like many other teams strikers then he would have easily hit the 20 mark.

13 Jul 2017 12:06:25
And where does the money come from? We can't compete with the likes of United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal when it comes to transfer fees and wages. We must build success on a budget and that is what Klopp is trying to do. Β£60m+ can be invested in the squad much better, in my opinion of course.

13 Jul 2017 13:19:57
I'll put my neck on the line and state this.
Replacing both full backs won't necessarily fix our defensive frailties.
We need to defend better as a team, inclusive of set pieces- and too often last year numerous players made poor defensive choices.

13 Jul 2017 09:42:29
Klopps interview after the Tranmere game was fairly interesting (and funny) I thought. when asked about VVD he could have easily rejected the rumour and said that ship has sailed but instead he left the door open with "anything I say can be bad".

Now I could be wrong here but it doesn't sound like we've dropped our interest!

Unless someone can enlighten me as to why saying that the deal was dead could be taken as a bad thing lol?

13 Jul 2017 10:21:15
I read that Daniel Vanderkamp, the lawyer who worked on liverpool deals in the past has said that Southampton and liverpool are in negotiations for VVD now and he may not have to hand in a transfer request.

13 Jul 2017 09:38:50
Hi Ed001, is it true that we are in advanced talks for Ed Too. I've heard that Klopp likes his versatility but his agent doesn't think that LFC can match his image rights demands?

Anyone else onto how Ben Woodburn appears to have put some muscle on during summer?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

13 Jul 2017 10:12:28
Yes he have. It's good that younger players are looking after their physique. I remember Origi dissapearing for a while in 2015, coming back built like a tank and playing the football of his life towards the end of 2015/ 16 season.

13 Jul 2017 10:31:59
I thought Ojo and TAA looked like they've bulked up too.

{Ed002's Note - Fat?}

13 Jul 2017 11:40:01
No, Sakho has helped them to stay lean πŸ˜‰.

13 Jul 2017 12:07:39
I thought Henderson looked very handsome.

13 Jul 2017 18:00:15
Haha thanks for your two cents two cents πŸ˜….

13 Jul 2017 09:05:37
a question for the kind eds,

regarding young chirivella. I think he could be a future starter . or at least I hope that from what I saw of him so far. unfortunately I didn't see the match yesterday id ont know how well he played but I wouldn't judge him from a single match. what do u think the plan is for him within the Liverpool staff. is he staying on this season or going on loan?
thanx.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - nothing is decided yet. It depends on how he gets on in preseason and what offers come in for him. If the right offer comes in, he will go out on loan, unless he impresses enough in preseason for him to force his way into the plans for the season. However there is no way of knowing whether the right offer will come in or not.}

13 Jul 2017 09:14:53
There is no doubt that Pedro has a lot of ability. Personally i think he just lacks a bit of pace/ sharpness and cannot see him in the first team, particularly with the MF players we have.

13 Jul 2017 10:56:43
What do you think his best position/ role is ed?

{Ed001's Note - defensive midfield.}

13 Jul 2017 08:53:11
Don't you just love listening to the Nevilles giving their input as to what LFC need in terms of extra signings to compete this season.

5 new additions?

They look like 2 kids from the playground whom have no idea at all what they are talking about!

13 Jul 2017 08:58:14
The former coach and assistant coach of Valencia?

{Ed001's Note - or, to give Gary his full title according to Valencia, the former worst coach in their history and his assistant.}

13 Jul 2017 09:12:35
Lol I don't know how they have the nerve to advise us, Liverpool on what we need when they haven't got a single clue about coaching/ management. They are just embarrassing themselves.

13 Jul 2017 10:08:42
Agree with all above but in their defence (Yes I know can't believe I typed that) 5 in total sounds about right at the very least, we have 2 already, arguments sake, let's argue VVD, Keita and Robertson make 5.

13 Jul 2017 10:17:21
I can put up with Gary (him and Carra are good together) but numb nuts Phil is absolutely shocking.

13 Jul 2017 10:19:46
Just cos their Mancs doesn't mean they don't know what they are on about.
Can't stand the outlook that because they were at rivals they haven't a clue.
From what i saw they stated we needed more depth to cope with extra games.

Anyone disagree?

13 Jul 2017 10:28:22
Gary ok I can handle but Phil come on get a grip.

13 Jul 2017 10:29:29
Well we've signed 2 already. Everyone on here wants a lb, cb, cm. some want a rb and another striker. That would be between 5-7 signings so why the uproar?

I personally don't see Keita as a necessary signing although no doubt a talented player. I'd like 3 more signings taking us to 5 - lb, cb and rb.

Everyone loving grujic from preseason last year and last night - how many games exactly does he get if we sign another cm?

13 Jul 2017 11:41:15
Lest we forget Gary Neville's influence on the England team which got taught a football lesson by Iceland πŸ˜‚.

13 Jul 2017 13:13:35
Good point Ron
However, that goes for every coach and player since '66.

13 Jul 2017 08:19:30
Hi ed0042 cum reet joined your fantasy PL out of curiosity what is your team and other Reds who joined their team. Also want to know which LFC player you choose. Sorry if it sounds stupid.

13 Jul 2017 08:46:09
Hey man. Thanks for joining. The response has been quite good.
And it's really not about having players of your favorite club just for the sake of it. But yeah I do have Milner, Salah and Coutinho for now. Milner is totally a must have for me.

13 Jul 2017 09:44:08
How this fantasy league work do we need to change player for every match or the team we built we last throughout season. I think we need to predict a team for particular weekend than we can change the whole team or something different?

13 Jul 2017 07:33:32
The way this window is going we could all use an Alexander Keith's good IPA from Halifax Canada.

hi eds/ reds

can someone explain how the fantasy football thingy works please thinking i might see what its about. is it just for fun? thnx in advance.

13 Jul 2017 07:15:46
Yes just for fun mate, pick your team of, 15 players with a 100m budget and compete against other members teams in the league you join. It's good mate, providing half your team don't get injured/ sold.

13 Jul 2017 07:21:49
Although you'll have to do some work and research for team selection, if you want to excel at it.

13 Jul 2017 09:39:05
thanks fellas

and who won last season?

13 Jul 2017 15:13:52
It's meant to be a fun competition for posters from all the pages. By all the pages, I mean all popular banter pages of all teams.
The link is given at the top of this page and there's a code there too to join the league. Also if you need any help with setting the team, I'll post instructions on liverpool-banter.co.uk to avoid spamming here.
Thanks.

13 Jul 2017 02:09:25
Keith Richards of course, to boost the rock'n roll at Anfield :)

Watching highlights from the game today. I know highlights don't tell the whole story, but it seems like ojo and Sturridge we're involved in every attack in the first half. Not just taking shots but making good passes. Does Sturridge look like he's getting back to his best or we're the highlights deceiving? A think a good loan spell for ojo and we're going to have a tough time picking a team next season, assuming we still have firminio, coutinho, Sturridge, origi, ojo, solanke, Salah, mane.

13 Jul 2017 06:36:26
Ojo was our best player in the first half. TAA looked quite good and so did Sturridge. Firmino's positioning and runs were good but his touch was off understandably.
In the second half, Ryan Kent was the standout and Woodburn also had a good half.

13 Jul 2017 07:00:43
Yeah Ojo was class in my opinion.

13 Jul 2017 09:20:41
Yep, Ojo looking good but so is Kent. Great pace and equally strong on both feet. His decision making has obviously improved as well.
Woodburn, Solanke and of course TAA were also excellent and we must not forget Grujic whomade some good runs into the box, passed well and grabbed a 30 yard goal.

13 Jul 2017 10:38:07
Ojo and TAA were the 1st half standouts and Kent and Flanagan were the 2nd half standouts. Would be interesting to see both combinations play a whole half together down each flank on Friday.
