Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

13 Jan 2018 23:42:33
Really hope the stories of us being in for Sanchez are true. Think he would be a great signing for us, and if I'm right can play in CL. Would fit our system very well and can play a number of positions.

If we get him and Greizzman (big ask I know with Greizzman) that would be an excellent window for me even with losing Coutinho.

Third player If possible is persuading Goretzka to sign for us rather than Bayern.

In addition give Karius a run in the team for the rest of season and I'd be happy with that.

Believable6 Unbelievable23

13 Jan 2018 23:51:50
You'd be happy with that? Jeez not hard to please are you. No chance we are getting sanchez or griezmann.

13 Jan 2018 23:52:28
Wake up mate please he's manc bound.

14 Jan 2018 00:02:52
Griezmann, Sanchez and Goretzka to replace Coutinho?

Coutinho was not super man and we are signing none of the above.

14 Jan 2018 00:06:38
Lost the plot! Sanchez, Griezman, Goretzka and Vvd! Really?

14 Jan 2018 00:50:58
I've heard the 3 of them are getting on the same plane as neymar and heading to john Lennon airport šŸ˜…šŸ˜….

14 Jan 2018 02:11:03
My 9 year old thought she could save up her pocket money and go to Disney World. Not sure why but this post reminded me of that.

14 Jan 2018 08:30:28
Wow itā€™s a rumour/ banter site by the way but here goes.

Itā€™s confirmed we are already interested in bringing in Goretzka and Macca has confirmed we are in for Greizzman. I said I hope the Sanchez rumours are true so try reading properly before posting your negative crap. Jesus.

14 Jan 2018 09:22:19
Goretzka has one foot inside Bayern while nowhere did Macca state that the mystery player is Griezmann. And Sanchez? U tired of Mane already?
We don't need a automatic first teamer in the front 3, we already have 3 awesome players there. Sanchez and Griezmann ain't coming to warm the bench, certainly not for 300k a week which LFC will never pay. Goretzka makes sense but he wants Bayern and we should be targeting a DLP, not another B2B midfielder.
Don't be positive, be realistic in the transfer market. FSG don't have bottomless pits of money lying around, and certainly not to add luxury signings to the squad.

14 Jan 2018 09:48:58
Honestly your post is nothing but pure fantasy and just because it's not negative ''crap'' its still crap!

14 Jan 2018 10:57:11
Ok.

This is part of Maccas follow up post dated Friday.

ā€œI haver heard his name mentioned all over twitter so people are aware of the French international, now i hope that helps, but again he will take a lot of persuading . ā€œ

This did indeed mean Greizzman (again I have never said we will, HOPE was the word used) .

Goretzka as well known is of interest to us, Then finally Sanchez it is reported we are in for him again I am not saying true but would like it to be.

13 Jan 2018 23:24:58
Congrats to Pepijn Lijnders for winning his first game 5-1!

with him becoming a manager there could we see a few of our youth players following him as he has worked closely with them?

Hey guys

Just wondering how many of us will be singing the Salah song tomorrow, it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Believable12 Unbelievable8

13 Jan 2018 23:54:53
Itā€™s a great songs.

Be great to hear it after a goal or two tomorrow.

Heard anything re Meyer savvy? Sure you said you where told heā€™d sign this window. Heard anymore? Sure itā€™s not goretzka they are chasing rather than Meyer?

14 Jan 2018 00:36:48
Goretzka won't happen in my own opinion, in regards Meyer I was told it will happen. I have no reason to not believe what I was told but the club are clearly looking elsewhere at the moment. Time will tell.

Ed02 has already stated that Lfc have not approached anyone regards Meyer and I'm not going to contradict what Ed has said but just pass on the info that came to me.

My personal opinion is we should go for him if the other routes fail as he has a lot of very useful tools and would blend in seemlessly and do an excellent job.

14 Jan 2018 06:46:30
Iā€™m working in Cardiff this weekend so have sold my ticket and wonā€™t be there ( serous bad planning on my part ) !

However, this will no stop me singing the Salah song in the pub if he scores!

14 Jan 2018 09:22:04
I'll be working in uni studying for my exams and I'll still be belting out the Salah song in the middle of the library when he scores, no doubt there'll be a few other LFC fans too.

13 Jan 2018 22:57:47
Must say eds patience of a saint the last few days credit where its due. Question apart from the fact that klopp obviously doesn't think gomes is ready who do you think should partner virgil tomorrow to combat aguero.

{Ed002's Note - Lovren if fit.}

13 Jan 2018 23:04:38
I would have said the same myself but lots on here would disagree.

13 Jan 2018 23:13:43
Usually I'd of said Lovren, but going on Klavens form the past month or so he's really stood out to me so I'd have to choose Klaven. As long as it's not Matip, I'm happy.

13 Jan 2018 23:30:48
Klavan got torn apart by city's pace before, I'd chose lovren - but most games I'd go with klavan.

13 Jan 2018 23:43:28
Lovren. Anyone's better than Matip actually. Klavan is a LCB like VVD so they would not work well together since VVD is weak on the right side of defense.

14 Jan 2018 00:33:10
Anyone's better than Matip.? If Matip plays, I hope he scores the winner just for you.

14 Jan 2018 01:05:35
Have u seen Matip play? He is lazy, slow and cannot tackle. I would rather someone who at least tries. VVD and Matip will not work well at all.

{Ed0333's Note - the unfortunate thing is Matip looked the real deal when he first signed what a shame he fell into bad habits on the pitch could have been a real player for us Buzzer.

14 Jan 2018 01:38:11
Agreed ed0333. i've always said when he joined he looked like a great player, then slowly just got lazier and lazier and got worse as time went on. I honestly think the quality of the players around him had something to do with it, but now is the present and he hasn't looked arsed for a long time.

{Ed0333's Note - The really good players rise above mediocrity and show their caliber Woolback. Matip had everything at his disposal, the physical attributes, talent and a coach who believed in him and he still hasnā€™t delivered. He still has time to pull his finger out letā€™s hope he does because thereā€™s a player in there somewhere.

14 Jan 2018 02:05:57
I still believe in matip. But tbh, our defenders haven't been doing too bad lately. Still, matip is better quality than lovren and klaven. Its going to be good to see matip with a quality partner. Having matip and vvd together will not only improve us defensively but make playing out from the back much more effective and they're much better for set pieces too. I would avoid using lovren and klavan in big games. klavan is too slow and lovren just lacks quality. These 2 struggle to keep up with the best of players. Good to have in the squad though.

14 Jan 2018 03:37:08
Matip just needs a few iron bolts screwed into him to harden him up and he needs to cut the laziness.

14 Jan 2018 02:13:58
I agree Ed - liked him when he first arrived and felt he just needed to get used to the physicality of the league, but heā€™s getting into bad habits of late and doesnā€™t tackle back and leave it all on the pitch like he needs to, he almost seems timid.

{Ed0333's Note - itā€™s at best disrespectful to the fans and the club and at worst heā€™s stealing a living. I hope VVDā€™s arrival wakes him up and we see the Matip of when he first arrived.

14 Jan 2018 08:54:45
Well let's hope he has a good game then. Otherwise I predict the normal player bashing for a player that " used to be good but now anyone is better than" Maybe we could change the page to Liverpool bashing or Matip bashing or Can bashing or anyone who has a bad game bashing. By the way I'm not saying he's the best defender we've ever had but if he gets picked he gets my support.

14 Jan 2018 09:07:58
This time last season we were raving about how good Matip was. He still has the attributes to improve with us especially now VVD will be alongside him. It's amazing how critical we are now of Matip but if someone mentions Henderson we are quickly reminded of his form from about 5 seasons ago. Amazing how we shift the goal posts for certain players.

{Ed001's Note - I wasn't raving about Matip. Excellent on the ball as he is, defensively he is awful, nothing to do with form, he just isn't a good defender.}

14 Jan 2018 09:27:15
What I pointed out about Matip is true Farmerfc. He is a very poor defender and we ain't progressing with players like him. LOvren might actually do well along side a leader like VVD who organises the backline but Matip is just Matip no matter his partner. He lumbers around, fails to win crucial headers, gets turned inside out etc. You should pay more attention to him when the game is on and you will see what I am talking about.

14 Jan 2018 09:48:35
IB I'm not saying Matip is any good but you have pointed out that Lovren might do well alongside VVD. So why doesn't that stretch to Matip might do well alongside VVD. In fairness I'm not sure why having VVD in there is going to stop Lovren making error after error and poor decision making by jumping into tackles he doesn't win. For me I would have Klavan there or even go as far as Gomez. Yes Gomez might be learning and make mistakes but we know Matip, Lovren and Klavan will definitely make mistakes in there next to the possibility of Gomez might make them centrally.

14 Jan 2018 09:51:03
Yes I like Lovren too. I like all the players and I have stated in the past that Lovren and VVD might form a good partnership. What I don't agree with is saying that anyone is better than him. It's a load of rubbish. He's not the best we've ever had but he is decent. I don't agree with Ed. I think he is okay defensively but I think it's just a case of him not having the physical attributes to succeed in English football.

14 Jan 2018 09:52:08
And I pay plenty of attention thank you. I'm just not into bashing any 1 player.

14 Jan 2018 19:40:13
I too am hoping the arrival of VVD can improve Matip too. In his first 6 months we were all singing his praises thinking he was a steal so let's hope for a positive influence. Certainly VVD isn't shy in barking out orders on the pitch and would give him a mouthful if he slacks off. It's whether he wants to listen.

13 Jan 2018 22:33:45
Hi Eds and fellow Reds.

This is my first post. Im an avid reader but have never posted. I have no inside info and am not in the know on anything. Lifelong Red and currently a corporate employed by LFC's number one sponsor.

Reading posts for years, I just want to give a massive shout out to Ed 2. Solid. Honest. Does all he can to not mislead the public. Really appreciate all the Eds.

Great job.

{Ed002's Note - Welcome, you are very sweet.}

13 Jan 2018 22:42:28
Cheers mate. I have one question, would like your opinion please. As you are not a Liverpool supporter and clearly have very good contacts. Do too players in Europe really want to play for Liverpool over other English sides? What is the real reason Liverpool cannot sign the stature of players the Mancs and Chelsea can? Is it negligence on the part of the club or have we actually lost the power to sign top players?

{Ed002's Note - It will come as a shock but not all players grew up Liverpool supporters and want to play for the club. In terms of Manchester United, Chelsea and others getting ā€œthe pickā€ of players, it is simply down to success.}

13 Jan 2018 22:50:46
Surely ā€œpost of the dayā€ contender Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - The hamper is on way.}

13 Jan 2018 23:39:33
What is in the hamper these days?

{Ed002's Note - Gin.}

14 Jan 2018 00:11:29
Very fashionable.

{Ed002's Note - We are a very hip, now and happening crowd. the People Who Are if you will.}

14 Jan 2018 00:22:15
Ed002 which gin do you prefer.

I like Bombay Sapphire with Fever Tree tonic but recently I have really enjoyed the rhubarb and ginger flavoured gin from Edinburgh Gin Company-

Artisan gins are enjoying a bit of a renaissance at the moment-

I suspect that you may not be too well acquainted with rhubarb- The best is grown up here in Yorkshire but people talk a lot of rhubarb throughout the country-.

{Ed002's Note - I like the Bombay Dry rather that the Sapphire - which is baby oil like, Sipsmiths and M&Sā€™s own. My youngest daughter likes the Rhubarb gin. Against the grain, check out Manchester Gin. I always buy a bottle in different counties and there are a bunch to be opened.}

14 Jan 2018 00:46:09
There is a Liverpool Gin which I got as a Christmas present but I havenā€™t tried it yet. It has some Valencia Orange flavour apparently, There is a Liver bird on the label

Thank you for the recommendations but rather childishly I wonā€™t try the Manchester Gin but I will look out for Bombay Dry and Sipsmiths,

14 Jan 2018 01:16:17
I love Rhubarb gin, not tried it for a while, until tomorrow that is!

14 Jan 2018 01:40:13
OMG Eds002 is a drinks guru now, worst I've been is a toss up between ting Tau 8* (think it's about 12%) and green chatrose spelling.

14 Jan 2018 02:16:24
Hendricks for me, with slice of cucumber of course.

14 Jan 2018 03:41:40
What's your favourite gin ed? I've had to acquire the taste of it over the years.

{Ed002's Note - See above.}

14 Jan 2018 06:16:21
Try 78 degreees or four pillars. Both Aussie guns and truly delicious.

{Ed002's Note - I'll look out for them.}

14 Jan 2018 07:54:28
I was pleasantly surprised by Edinburgh gin last weekend. Really nice. That said, most gins go down well!

14 Jan 2018 09:25:45
Try Gunpowder Gin, itā€™s irish and really nice to drink. Or the latest one I found in Portugal (Iā€™m sure they sell it here) is Blackwoods - but beware, itā€™s a serious session juice as itā€™s 60%! I had 4 and suddenly became the most amusing person on the planet (to me) šŸ¤£.

14 Jan 2018 10:16:24
Anything else in the hamper or is it just a crate of gin?

{Ed002's Note - Just gin.}

13 Jan 2018 22:10:18
Not football related but can anyone recommend a pub near lime street station that does craft beers or ale?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2018 23:04:13
The Ship and Mitre.

13 Jan 2018 23:10:53
I think the whetherspoons that is basically in the station does that sort of stuff.

{Ed025's Note - thats the north western hopeful, and its as cheap as chips..

13 Jan 2018 23:13:54
Good shout stoneage.

13 Jan 2018 23:20:08
Cheers guys I Didnā€™t know that the one in the station was a spoons. im staying at the liner hotel so I will check out the spoons and the ship and mitre.

13 Jan 2018 23:20:41
Just stay out the penny farthing mate šŸ˜‚.

{Ed002's Note - if you want to see Tinkerbell after the game #WonderDogSparky says Heaven on Victoria Street is the place to be - the rest of the team usually head for Superstar Boudoir.}

14 Jan 2018 02:57:10
The Ship and Mitre is a good shout and just next door to it is The Excelsior which also has craft ales on as well and, on a match day, isn't as manically busy as The Ship.

13 Jan 2018 22:09:03

New on here, watched for ages, great site, hi all, hi edd, I think itā€™s better to see vvd settle and see if works well with any of the others first, however, I think we should get de vrij fee in summer, or entice with smaller for early release, just my first posted opinion.

13 Jan 2018 22:09:52
Didn't De Vrij get a new contract or am I thinking of somebody else?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

13 Jan 2018 22:24:45
Some media reported that he had but apparently he turned it down.

13 Jan 2018 22:49:03
Ah that's what it must've been, I thought I'd read something about him signing a new contract, media BS I guess.

14 Jan 2018 00:01:03
Don't worry Spooked, myself and Ed333 also got tricked by the same reports šŸ˜‚.

13 Jan 2018 19:44:08

13 Jan 2018 19:25:29
I think he was referring to the fact that we needed Everton to do us a favour tonight against Spurs scholes.

13 Jan 2018 19:28:16
4 defeats in 2 weeks šŸ˜.

13 Jan 2018 19:41:26
Isnā€™t this the LIVERPOOL rumours site? c'mon reds donā€™t act like them ay.

13 Jan 2018 19:43:50
@deredmen your correct but these Mancs aren't really football people so I just laugh to myself and think how can they go on about anything when allā€™s they do is park the bus and blame everyone else the officials other managers instead of sorting out the real problems I hate Man U with a passion šŸ¤®.

13 Jan 2018 19:47:30
At least we tried to play football. Unlike Everton. The wheels on Samā€™s bus have fallen off.

13 Jan 2018 20:00:16
Relying on a team who cheered every goal City put past them as to them, it meant LFC may not win the PL, is like believing in pixie dust.

Unfortunately, Everton's season has now become in function of how our team progresses. Shankly or Paisley was right (don't know which one) when he said, "If you wanna know how LFC's season is going, ask an Everton fan".

13 Jan 2018 20:05:02
(Btw, feel desperately sorry for Ed025 for having that dinosaur manage his boys, Ed025 is a decent sort and deserves better) .

13 Jan 2018 20:13:06
Did they have a shot on target today?

13 Jan 2018 20:19:41
Good to see Utd fans popping over for a creep.

13 Jan 2018 20:55:12
United fans have an empathy with Everton at the minute, being out classed by your city rivals šŸ˜.

13 Jan 2018 20:57:47
Itā€™s the banter page, ripping Everton is what this page should be about. lol.

13 Jan 2018 20:15:01
Ed025 is the type of guy who deserves to change his allegiance to the red side of Merseyside.

{Ed025's Note - its bad taurus...but it can never be that bad mate.. :)

13 Jan 2018 21:05:50
Allardyce ā€œMaybe we need to be more boringā€

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Whatā€™s that about leopards and spots?

13 Jan 2018 21:30:00
Today was a win for everton. Tommorrow liverpool can potentially drop to fifth. I can hear them partying right now.

13 Jan 2018 22:08:24
Can't be bothered with criticising Everton, but feel for them when their manager was quoted as saying that maybe they attacked too much.

They had no shots on target and deserve better than that.

Problem is, it appears that the board and fans want more enterprising football, but I can't help but think that's not the managers way and he has been found out big time.

13 Jan 2018 22:12:17
Have to agree poor Ed025 doesn't deserve to have to support that muck.

{Ed025's Note - things can only get better barry..

13 Jan 2018 23:41:23
Come on Boys, be fair.2 cup finals in a few weeks is tiring work! They were never going to be able to maintain that level of effort! If i was a blue, I'd want to know why they couldn't try that hard the other 36 weeks of the season! But eh, at least United are above us! Ooh ah cantona again anyone!

13 Jan 2018 23:45:43
I am sure Everton would also like to play the game called football. But unfortunately their squad does not have anybody capable of playing the beautiful game of football so all they do is show up and get humiliated. Their participation trophy should be just around the corner.

13 Jan 2018 23:36:33
Did they get over the half way line today?

14 Jan 2018 00:08:19
I would of actually rather Everton won today. Tottenham level on points and GD now.

14 Jan 2018 00:57:44
Should we not have been hoping for an Everton win? Spurs are probably our main rivals for 4th and Everton are our neighbours.

14 Jan 2018 01:49:27
Haha speaking of Everton fans cheering city goals against them, I remember that Ross Barkley hit a screamer from outside the box to hit the lead. He was probably thinking "shit that wasnt meant to happen"

Nothing confirmed Nobby is arriving yet. Rbl are playing now and his Manager has just said he is here until the summer and commited to play for us.

13 Jan 2018 17:56:32
McSkrtel and McAgger was a fleeting visit then.

{Ed002's Note - You would need to ask #WonderDogSparky but I suspect so.}

13 Jan 2018 18:17:10
He's just scored so hopefully a farewell goal!

13 Jan 2018 19:50:31
He had a good game, bossed the midfield.

13 Jan 2018 21:33:56
Noticed he didn't celebrate his goal.

13 Jan 2018 21:54:34
Idontlooklikekloop, our manager also said coutinho was would be available to play against city, unfortunately look how that turned out, they're all liars.

Hi just read that a highly rated 18yr old Scottish lb is on a trial with us this week Gallagher from Falkirk, anyone know anything about him. Cheers.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2018 17:42:14
Haven't seen him play, but heard good things about him.

Coverage of Scottish football is so bad I rarely even see highlights of my own home-team, never mind 1st division clubs.

13 Jan 2018 20:39:29
he is very good, and there are 3 other big teams tracking him .

13 Jan 2018 18:54:01
Well I didn't get my hopes up too much about Everton doing us a favour.

13 Jan 2018 20:02:33
Everton? Doing us a favor? Come on, man. Do you believe in pixie dust as well?

13 Jan 2018 20:41:36
never look to Everton doing us a favour, it never happens . we have to do this ourselves .

13 Jan 2018 21:43:57
Remember when we needed Everton to beat city for us back in the end side of 2014? I think we just lost to Chelsea that gameweek.

13 Jan 2018 14:50:45
Would love to you who if you guys and girls could choose to buy a centre back to play alongside vvd who would it and why.

I will go first Toby alderwierled. Do I need to justify it? For me he has everything. Great in the air quick, tough as nails, coming into his prime also at 28 so wouldn't stifle Gomez's development who I think we all agree will be future cb for liverpool and England. Playing alongside Toby and Virgil could you learn from any better.

Believable10 Unbelievable1

13 Jan 2018 15:20:32
I would take Toby in a heartbeat he is reliable and a leader need I see more.

13 Jan 2018 15:25:00
Gomez and buy a new right back.

13 Jan 2018 15:27:55
On paper yes, he has everything and would suit us perfectly, already being settled in england as well. Unfortunately he is also never going to join us in a million years. Although given he hasn't signed a contract, a 'cheeky bid' plus a trip to blackpool could well be worth considering.

13 Jan 2018 15:45:28
He's the Best defender in the premier league.

13 Jan 2018 15:47:08
This is not fantasy football. Much better to sort out the midfield and goalkeeper. Also we don't even know yet how the current center backs will fit in with VVD. I hold a hope one will step up.

We can't buy an Ā£80m player for every position. Toby would cost Ā£100m with little or no sell on value.

Priority order IMO
Goal keeper
Keita's center mid partner
Courtinho replacement ie attacker midfielder and cover front 3.

I rekon that will cost Ā£180m already.

13 Jan 2018 15:52:54
Koulibaly for me.

13 Jan 2018 16:02:56
I'm sticking with what I've said since the start of the month, we need a keeper and a creative midfielder before anything else (seeing as we've already signed Virgil) . I'd sign a right back in the summer and move Gomez into the centre.

For now we have Klavan, Lovren and Matip who can all play centre back alongside Virgil. If we sell any of them in the summer then maybe consider signing another centre back.

13 Jan 2018 16:07:40
Iā€™d say we need a keeper, creative midfielder, and if Naby comes in this month weā€™ll have our solid spine of the team sorted.

13 Jan 2018 16:28:23
Mark. I never said we needed to spend 80 million every position but then you name 3 positions you think need filled and that's going to cost 180 million. Where is the logic in that. Do I think we will get alderweireld? Prob not . He is that good he would have every team in world footie looking for him.

Also you talk about resale value. I'm a fan not an accountant and to me if we got Toby for arguments sake and in his 4 year contract won us a premier league got us into champions league every year and 1 or 2 other trophies would that not be worth the fee that we pay?

How much resale value will vvd have after his 5 year deal is up and that's without any extensions? He was brought to win trophies and to get us to were we wanna be not to profit from in a few years.

13 Jan 2018 16:41:08
Partner Klavan with VVD and let Gomez and TAA rotate as RB. Unless Clyne goes no point buying a RB as theyā€™ll play second fiddle to TAA as of next year Iā€™d assume anyway, and Gomez can more and cover that position if he does t get thrown in at Cb next ear. Priority should be a goalkeeper and then maybe a midfielder, on paper we have a lot but who is really going to be starter, gini is hot and cold Milner is getting on, cans moving on, Grujic doesnā€™t seem to take Klopps fancy, Henderson has a reoccurring injury and Lallana. Trust in Klopp to get it sorted the next few windows.

13 Jan 2018 16:45:45
Iā€™d stick Gomez in the middle with VVD and buy a new RB.

13 Jan 2018 16:56:56
AYmeric Laporte.

13 Jan 2018 20:06:21
Johnbarnes, you can't partner VVD with Klavan as they both play on the left side and Klavan is left footed. I would pick Lovren as he is better when he has a more composed CB next to him. He was great next to Fonte at Saints and great next to Kolo Toure as well when Klopp arrived. He would be my pick.

13 Jan 2018 14:27:06
Truly hope Ben Woodburn doesn't sign for Sunderland as they are so poor. His confidence will be shattered going up there.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

{Ed025's Note - he will get game time and experience though TH, i think its a good move myself and will do more good than harm mate..

13 Jan 2018 14:51:51
He needs to be playing and the toughness and physicality of the Championship will do him good. Sunderland don't believe he is their savior and if they do, they are in deep doo-doo.

13 Jan 2018 14:56:27
Cracking move if he gets it, he will play and coleman knows the lad. Plus its a competitive league only downside is they don't play a similar style. Either way competive games ia better than sat at watching us play.

13 Jan 2018 15:52:41
Sunderland are so poor an I mean poor I just think Woodburn is better than that sorry I'm sure there are better clubs for him to cut his teeth in.

13 Jan 2018 16:09:05
Chris Coleman is a big fan of Woodburn and trusts his ability. I think itā€™s a good move if Sunderland stick with Coleman.

{Ed0333's Note - I donā€™t see how playing regular competitive football is gonna disadvantageous to the kid. Heā€™s not even on the bench at Liverpool.

13 Jan 2018 17:12:41
He'd of been better going to a decent championship club not a club that is getting relocated an run extremely poorly. Just my opinion I wish the lad well where ever hr ends up.

14 Jan 2018 02:29:17
TH so youā€™d prefer he goes to a better performing club where he only gets marginally more game time.? Whatā€™s the point in that? At least at Sunderland heā€™lllikely get game time- thatā€™s the whole point.

13 Jan 2018 14:02:51
Afternoon Ed's

Cheers for all the work you guys do.

Quick one for you - who has the whitest teeth - Firmino, Klopp or Brenda Rogers?

Much love šŸ‘šŸ».

Believable6 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2018 14:31:08
Whilst we are on the subject of Klopp's teeth, is it just me or does it seem like he has about 10 more teeth than a normal human? There's so many of them!

13 Jan 2018 14:34:44
Firmino.

13 Jan 2018 14:17:32
My friend is a pilot for British Airways, and he says he can see Firminiā€™s teeth from 37 000 feet, so Iā€™m going for Firmino.

If I knew an astronaut I would ask him to take a look out the window šŸ‘€.

13 Jan 2018 14:26:29
AG it has to be Firmino because he has that whiter that white almost sky blue fluorescent glow to his teeth. Next Brendans because it also looks so utterly fake. Klopp brining up the rear Iā€™m afraid.

13 Jan 2018 16:02:20
Deffo Bobby.

13 Jan 2018 13:15:56
My friend came home from England. His neighbour is a cousin of one of the ground staff. He overheard Klopp and team discussing how Firminio needs to play behind a striker, especially someone not yet attuned to how Liverpool play. From what he could gather, the striker is European.

Believable3 Unbelievable16

13 Jan 2018 13:36:28
Love it.

13 Jan 2018 13:41:07
With Sturridge out of favour and Ings still recovering I can see Klopp potentially wanting a top striker, offering the option for Firmino to play more of a no.10 role. It would be the best option IMO if we manage to get someone really special upfront as our midfield is a little lacking in goals at the moment.

13 Jan 2018 13:44:08
Hey Benny, thiught of selling merch gor the charity match?
I reckon RTFP t shirts might sell like hot cakes!

13 Jan 2018 14:04:07
Signed photos of Ed002?

13 Jan 2018 14:05:10
If klopp honestly wanted to replace firmino with a striker and move bobby back, he would have done it already.

13 Jan 2018 14:53:42
Spot on, AW. Obviously, many on here they know know better than Klopp who made Bobbie the beast he is today. Mind-boggling.

13 Jan 2018 17:25:19
No klopp wouldn't have AW. Weve always been oversaturated with midfielders. Moving firmino back would have made the problem worse plus we didn't exactly have a good enough striker to replace his qualities. Now that we are a world class midfielder down, firmino can slot into that position and the focus can be getting a proper striker to take this team to an even greater level.

13 Jan 2018 17:32:48
I buy a picture of Ed002 wives.

13 Jan 2018 19:08:40
I would buy a RTFP tshirt or WDS mug.

13 Jan 2018 13:15:19
A few years ago I mentioned signing Aubameyang but you said we couldn't afford him. It seems we could now is there a chance of him, Lemar or Greizmann signing or are we in for someone else? tia.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - All have these have been dealt with at length - try the search function please.}

13 Jan 2018 14:46:39
Heā€™s available but heā€™s trouble and him and klopp donā€™t get on.

13 Jan 2018 14:55:16
What is the obsession with a highly toxic, selfish and indisciplined player like Auba, exactly?

13 Jan 2018 15:30:13
BRover, you forgot to mention that he is 29 before the start of next season, close to the end of his career and would have zero sell-on value if it didn't work out.

13 Jan 2018 17:22:49
Ed2 that was a ridiculously polite reply from you! Are you ok? As I scrolled down I was expecting just a "RTFP" šŸ˜‚.

{Ed002's Note - I am alsways polite.}

13 Jan 2018 12:48:25
Hi eds, seeing how England are going to be out of the EU in the future, was just wondering how transfers would work with clubs in the EU, Would they require a visa, work permit etc?

And also do you reckon this would inflate the prices even more?

Thanks.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is not actually clear what would happen with work permits. There would certainly not be any overnight change but the eventual position would likely be a need for work permits and residence permits. In terms of existing EU citizens already working in the UK, there is no plan but I would think an amnesty would be the likely decision followed by a quota system of some type. A good question but no firm answer I am afraid.}

13 Jan 2018 13:56:27
Thanks for the reply.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

13 Jan 2018 12:46:39
Just wondering does coutinho get a medal if we win Champions league because he's played for us in group stage? Just curious thanks in advance.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He will do.}

13 Jan 2018 13:34:40
Wondering how this will make him feel if happend.

{Ed002's Note - Happy that he contributed to a CL win.}

13 Jan 2018 16:02:50
A bit like Owen in ā€˜05 maybe? But with a medal from the team he left behind.

14 Jan 2018 05:48:09
Thanks Ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

13 Jan 2018 12:47:59
I am going to see the LFC v Spurs match in Feb itā€™ll be my first match at Anfield (canā€™t wait) and was wondering if any of the eds or posters had any suggestions of good places to go near the stadium pubs with a good atmosphere etc. Also does anyone have any recommendations of places to stay for a couple of nights? Thanks.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2018 13:07:24
My favourite pub that is literally right next to the stadium is the Sandon. It's quality.

Whenever i stay up there, I've stayed in Hatters Hostel. It's filthy cheap, but take a padlock so you can secure your things in the cage under the bed, because you share a room with about 20 people šŸ˜‚

First time i ever stayed there, a couple of polish girls were in the bunk bed next to me, and they just stripped completely naked and got into bed right in front of me šŸ˜‚ it's an experience, let me tell you. There is a big pay and display car park near by if you're driving, but it's also near to the train station (and it's less than Ā£10 for a taxi to the stadium) . If you want cost efficiency, it's top of the list. Literally about Ā£17 a night last time i went. You even get a basic breakfast included and there is a shower room if you're as brave as the lasses from Poland. Don't go there if you have any shred of class or dignity about you though šŸ˜‚.

13 Jan 2018 13:27:51
Ah mate you have to go to the Albert right beside the ground, it's a must.

13 Jan 2018 13:53:14
As above sandon and Albert are the best two imo.

13 Jan 2018 13:53:41
MK,

What an experience that was!

In the future, if I'm fortunate enough to go there, definitely I will be staying in Hatters Hostel.

13 Jan 2018 14:15:22
Does nobody go to the Derry club these days? šŸ¤”.

13 Jan 2018 14:34:06
I can't recommend it enough Haizan. But then, I'm a simple person who can improvise, adapt, and overcome! šŸ˜‚ it's like camping but instead of hearing animals in the middle of the night, you hear tourists of various nationalities. Bloody Fantastic in my opinion!

13 Jan 2018 14:39:08
I'll mind your car for ya!

13 Jan 2018 15:01:43
May Duncan's is decent and relatively cheap too.

The pub downstairs is an experience 2.

13 Jan 2018 16:32:19
The park pub, straight facing the kop.
The alberts ok but the park is always bouncing.

13 Jan 2018 16:40:11
Thanks for all the suggestions.

13 Jan 2018 12:35:51
Hi again ed001

Another discussion point (I've had a bit of time off recently and this site is very engaging) .

Not strictly related to Liverpool but I want to talk about Walcott. In my opinion, he has never thrived because Wenger seems to be the type of manager who wants his players to figure it out for themselves. I remember you saying that this is his preference for how players react on the field, and it seems to be that way on the training paddock too.

I can't help but feel that Walcott is the kind of players, like Ox, who needs a Klopp or Guardiola-type manager to thrive. These managers are also coaches who actively try to coach their players into improvement.

Hypothetically, do you think that if Walcott went to play under Klopp a few years ago, he'd be a better player?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - yes, but he still would not be good enough because he is technically not good enough. He has never been outstanding in any area of the game other than pace. In fact more than one scout at Arsenal that looked at him said he should be forgotten about. One also told Arsene to buy Bale instead as he was twice the player but Wenger ignored the advice about Walcott anyway. Walcott is a very limited player.}

13 Jan 2018 12:55:12
That's interesting to know. You're right about his technical ability but he is still not playing to his upmost potential.

It's rather odd that someone like Wenger could make such a bad misjudgment, considering that his style of play is very technical.

{Ed001's Note - I think he believed he could teach him technique but you can't teach pace.}

13 Jan 2018 13:00:45
Ed001 I agree 100% technically poor. Will suit Everton perfectly.

13 Jan 2018 14:59:34
Walcott has been finished for 4 seasons now and that will not change. Ed, I also remember reading an article on French media, about how said scout went to watch Saints play to scout Walcott and he came back and said like you did, forget Walcott. You need the guy on the other side named Gareth Bale.

13 Jan 2018 12:17:19
I can't quite make my mind up how to feel about the game on sunday. One minute i feel we have enough to beat city and get revenge for the 5-0.

But then i remember we sold our most creative player and salah our best player will most likely not be 100% fit. My heart says we can win but my head says city will be too strong on this occasion.

Plus the effect of losing such an influential and like player from the dressing room might have a temporary effect on morale and confidence in the side.

All i want is ed1 to not forget to switch on his xmas lights and every lfc fan in that stadium to make their voices heard no matter what.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - my view is that liverpool will win IAC, with them playing midweek they will not be as fresh as they would like and even though they are excellent all these recent games will have taken their toll, after a cat and mouse first half liverpool will score through salah midway through the second half, city then chasing the game will get caught on the counter and mane will set up firmino for a tap in late on....they dont call me mystic ED for nothing..

13 Jan 2018 13:03:43
Yeah it is a good time to play them we have been on the beach and they played 2 games. I think we will win and we will go 100mph from the beginning. If it becomes cat and mouse I think we don't win.

13 Jan 2018 14:10:11
Iā€™m expecting Salah and Mane to get a few corners so fully expecting VVD to continue his goal run with another header. Oh and a Salah hat-trick. šŸ˜.

13 Jan 2018 12:53:12
Ed man how the hell are ya?

{Ed025's Note - hey barry, im good mate thanks, looking forward to the games at the weekend as we both have hard tasks, i think the reds have a better chance than us but you never know, hows you mate?..

13 Jan 2018 13:15:29
Haha you have me convinced mystic peg leg ed. šŸ˜†.

13 Jan 2018 14:30:13
3-1 to the mighty reds.

13 Jan 2018 17:35:30
Would be a brilliant weekend if both team's do well Ed.

{Ed025's Note - we are up against it barry but we could just nick a draw mate..

13 Jan 2018 12:10:49
I remember the story shankly told about Ron Yeats joining the club. An how he used him to try new kits on, going on to explain when he came through the door way in all red, he could see it will intimidate the opposition, and thus all red was used. Mainly because he was an absolute unit but still. Shanks said he was a "corner stone" and "the very beginning of liverpools rise, and he did more for the rise than anyone else "
Yeats soon became captain, and the rest they say is history.
Does anyone think VVD is klopps corner stone? Maybe, just maybe.

Believable14 Unbelievable1

13 Jan 2018 12:22:14
Nope. The manc teams and chelsea are too strong and powerful. Unless all mentioned teams either loose their wealthy owners or in utds case become less of a global force or they move to a break away league, liverpool will not win the league in our life times.

13 Jan 2018 12:25:20
Bit soon to be jumping to conclusions like that I reckon, Benny.
I remember when Buck Rodgers was on that great run with Suarez, Gerrard, Carra et al. I thought he was another Paisley or Shankley.
God was I wrong!

13 Jan 2018 12:19:21
Benny Baller, I hope so mate as he is a unit and very imposing so has the potential to be.

13 Jan 2018 12:40:42
RedWalter you are such a wind up hahahaha.

13 Jan 2018 12:44:38
Negativeredwalter, not in our life times. Good job Liecster fans didn't think like that. It is possible without spending more than City and United. Won't be easy but is possible.

13 Jan 2018 12:45:13
Negativered

We should have won the league twice over the last 10 years really and that was when our spending force was way behind united and city. Atleast now if we are desperate for a player then the money is there.

Our squad is better than United's and arguably better than chelseas.

Leicester managed to do it so why not us!

13 Jan 2018 12:49:25
How can you possibly claim Liverpool won't win it in our life times. I'm only 26 šŸ˜‚
Could of said that about champions league but look what happened. Could of seen two.
Also Leicester proved its capable, call it a freak season or whatever, but they got the results.
I hate discrediting managers suckin, but it was literally down to Suarez that year. Proven when hendo got a red against city and Rodgers didn't know what to do for the rest of the season.

13 Jan 2018 13:02:23
I hate using this, but Leicester won the League. So if they can do it then, "potentially" we could also. Not in our lifetime is a bit far fetched in my opinion. We would need a degree of luck, a few home grown players to make it thru, maybe the right buys in the transfer market and a good manager. It is not all down to money, it helps a great deal but not the be all and end all.

13 Jan 2018 13:02:52
NEGATIVEred indeed. hahah chelsea and united! pfffft.

13 Jan 2018 13:12:19
"I hate discrediting managers suckin, but it was literally down to Suarez that year. Proven when hendo got a red against city and Rodgers didn't know what to do for the rest of the season. "

I don't get this statement Benny. If it was purely down to Suarez then Hendo getting a red card would not have had that much of an impact on the rest of the season! Its not as if Suarez was carded, then i would get your point.

13 Jan 2018 13:29:06
Irish. Henderson was also great that year. Rodgers messed about after that red card and showed how inept his tactical side was. The team basically picked itself that season, and when it couldn't, Rodgers got it horribly wrong.

13 Jan 2018 13:54:31
I have no doubt in my mind at all that Hendoā€™s red cost is the league that year. Rogers was stumped as to how to manage the gap. Just a very unlucky set of circumstances. Really thought we had it that time.

13 Jan 2018 14:11:32
I agree ND. My point is that is wasnt just down to Suarez that year.

13 Jan 2018 18:19:45
I hope I am wrong but we will see. Regardless of where we finish each year there's only one team for me.

13 Jan 2018 12:10:43
A little discussion away from transfers.

Does anybody know of any current/ past player who has/ does visit this website?

I know for a fact Lallana has visited the website before, how frequent I have no idea but he has certainly been on it. It's such an easy site to find, surely many of them have been here?

Do any of the Eds know of any?

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have shown the web site to quite a number of coaches, coaches, ex players and directors of football. And a few players.}

13 Jan 2018 12:19:18
Bet they love it šŸ˜„.

13 Jan 2018 12:20:03
Hi ed002

Do such people endorse this website because it dispels bullshit and tells fans the actual facts away from media nonsense?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anyone endorsing it. Perhaps the site could become Liverpool's transfer rumour partner?}

13 Jan 2018 12:28:12
Great to know others know of the website too Ed2, they must cringe at times. I hope Mignolet hasn't been on here.

13 Jan 2018 12:41:27
I don't mean financially endorse it ed, I mean just merely agreeing with the concept of the website, having no objections to it.

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea what you mean}

13 Jan 2018 12:47:51
Ed002, get the web adress put on the other sleeve of the shirts. Warrior sports one sleeve, football rumors the other.

13 Jan 2018 12:53:23
I mean positive opinions of the website rather than negative.

{Ed002's Note - Generally folks in the business are happy to see this sort of site.}

13 Jan 2018 13:17:53
Ed, I really wish I knew what footballing (or football-related) organisation you work for.

13 Jan 2018 13:56:26
Simple rule of thumb, especially if you think that some of the players do read this site - donā€™t write anything you wouldnā€™t say to their faces. Itā€™s easy to make your point without being abusive, itā€™s possible to criticise players without being crude or personally nasty. However bad they were, Iā€™m sure they didnā€™t set out to be. I have to say that compared to twitter, instagram or whatever, which are simply vile, the posts on here are very positive and generally not abusive.

13 Jan 2018 14:11:07
Largely because any vile post will receive soul-destroying condemnation from the eds.

13 Jan 2018 14:49:55
Hello mr salah and mr mane good luck sunday šŸ˜.

13 Jan 2018 11:43:30
Seems to me getting cup tied is a strange rule. Why is it still enforced? I also find it strange that bigger clubs around the world havenā€™t pushed to get rid of it?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Clubs are perfectly happy with the rule.}

13 Jan 2018 13:09:20
seems to me the rule is perfect, it makes it so a team like barce can't buy world class players like coutinho/ more players this time of year and roll thru the champs league!

13 Jan 2018 14:50:22
Cheers for the reply.

13 Jan 2018 11:24:29
Hi eds and reds, I was wondering if ed02 could explain how ffp works and how it's determined how much clubs can spend, I understand it's probably very complex but its there's a " dumbed down version" for us not so in the Know, I'd appreciate it, cheers, PS tried the search,

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - In the simplest of terms clubs are constrained to only spend what they earn and they cannot simply borrow to build up debt.

From 2011/2012 all clubs need to provide a second set of accounts specifically for the purpose of Financial Fair Play. These are based on the ordinary accounts but adapted for the provisions for FFP - so certain things can be deducted as allowable costs (infrastructure changes, spending on youth sides, wages of players signed prior to 2010 etc.). These accounts also include the income streams (TV and prize money, match day revenue, commercial revenue).

The FFP accounts are then assessed for compliance with the provisions of the FFP rules to ensure that wages have not increased beyond that allowed and spending on transfers is constrained based on what the club earns (ply ā‚¬5M spread over a rolling three year period). The owners can add to the transfer funds from their own money up to ā‚¬30M over a rolling three year period. Clubs can opt out of meeting FFP but will then be excluded for European competition.

So the bottom line is a club can only spend what it earns and cannot increase wages beyond a small amount each year.}

13 Jan 2018 12:19:06
Has ffp been considered a success or effective ed002? When you see the sums that the likes of psg and man city can still throw at transfers.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, it has worked pretty well. I don't really understand your comment about Manchester City or PSG. Both paid a substantial fine and were subject to sanctions. Numerous clubs have been banned, fined etc..

If you look at Manchester City, (a) theu have a larger income than most, and (b) whilst working within the rules are making use of some pretty extreme sponsorship that comes via their owner's business interests. So the figures are skewed.

This is seen as an issue by UEFA and the reason there have been efforts over the past four years or so to agree a sponsorship cap. UEFA are happy for those "elite" European clubs that meet (now twice or three times a year) to come up with a proposal, but so far they have failed to agree a figure. UEFA are aware that taking the matter to the European Club Association will not help them. Eventually they will come up with a cap themselves and that will be it. A similar issue is being discussed about capping TV and media income for FFP because of the finances for English sides also being skewed. With a UEFA senior official moved on it might be easier to push something through as the resistance was related to the clubs that would be most impacted by a change.

Effectively the cap would say something like, "regardless of the amount of sponsorship a club obtains, only the first ā‚¬115M will be allowable for the purposes of the FFP calculation". The same could be done with the media income - obviously that would hit the English sides very hard and a few others only. It is contraversial but there is a swell of effort from other sides to make it happen. One side who were leading the push pulled out of the group of "elite" sides earlier this year so it will take others to pick up the ball on that one. But it is fair to say that mainland European sides do not see it as fair that the English sides can benefit from vast media income and would like a more level playing field.}

13 Jan 2018 12:26:37
In light of the above surely the neymar deal was not done according to these rules.

Were they aware of this and just went ahead with it anyway with the intention of being excluded from Europe or do they think that over 3 years they will be able to balance it out?

Or do they actually earn the amount that was needed to make the deal happen. I just don't understand that one.

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing to say that PSG cannot cover the costs of Neymar through additional income from a new shirt deal, new sponsorship deals and endorsements in addition to the income they already have and player sales.}

13 Jan 2018 13:00:27
Does the sale of players count towards what the club earns or are the rules just toward commercial incomings?

{Ed002's Note - Player sales count and that is the way MST clubs raise money toward the purchases.}

13 Jan 2018 13:08:35
What is Your personally opinion on capping of the media related income Ed002? I would argue that the PL has made itself a desirable product worthy of the money that is being thrown at it currently, so why should it and clubs within it be essentially limited just because clubs abroad think itā€™s unfair? Unless Iā€™m missing something it seems like sour grapes from the bigger clubs in Spain, Germany, Italy etc who are afraid of losing their status as the richest clubs.

{Ed002's Note - It is not sour grapes from the bigger clubs but those who don't have the benefit and are priced out of transfers. The likes of Crystal Palace can buy a Ā£75M player if they wish - most mainland clubs can't. I suspect you are not aware of who the "richest" clubs are but the English sides feature prominently. Personally, there is a need to manage finances responsibly - because when the "elite" sides breakaway they will take with them the there is every likelihood that the big money from television, sponsorship etc. would go with a breakaway league.}

13 Jan 2018 14:03:19
Thanks for the reply ed02, brilliant as usual.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

13 Jan 2018 16:46:54
Thanks for your insight Ed002!

13 Jan 2018 10:57:48
Hi Eds and Reds

Ed002 if your available. what is the likelihood of Keita arriving this month. seeing plenty reports saying he'll arrive tomorrow but I can't find anything saying it's definitely happening. sorry if this is being asked constantly

{Ed002's Note - I have no way of measuring liklihood. I am not aware of any agreement for him to be signed on Sunday - certainly he cannot be registered then. I can't help.}

Thanks ed002 for the reply.

13 Jan 2018 11:03:57
Don't understand why Carra has gone out of his way to look like a moron. Klopp asserts that keeping Coutinho literally was not an option, yet Carra says "I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY WE SOLD HIM?! "

Seriously Carra.

Believable19 Unbelievable1

13 Jan 2018 11:28:11
He works for Skysports?

13 Jan 2018 11:53:15
Yeah I like Carragher but he is wrong on this one and should be more clever especially being an ex footballer himself. If Barcelona or Real Madrid come calling for most South American players their heads get turned and that leads to unrest in the camp, also the money we recieved was a good fee which we can use to reinvest in players that want to be here. We have lost Owen, Torres, Saurez and now Coutinho and what history has shown is we always bounce back and find another gem and in the famous words of Ed2, players come and go and teams move on that's the nature of the game.

13 Jan 2018 11:58:03
Yeah I also thought that strange why he would come out and say that. A brilliant servant to the club but he's not in charge.

13 Jan 2018 12:06:44
But he is right, he doesn't have the iq to understand, why is this an issue?

13 Jan 2018 12:21:54
Working for SkySports is no excuse. He is paid by SkySports to provide reasoned analysis. He gives analysis based on facts from the game, so why should he ignore other facts?

13 Jan 2018 12:40:50
Saying a Skysports pundits gives his opinion based on facts, is quite funny but I digress. As for Carra still spouting nonsense about not understanding why we sold Cou, is nothing but a guy trying to fan the flames, IMO.

Was Carra that clueless about how we had to sell Masche to Barcelona after he threw a strop in protest tous not letting him go to Barcelona to the point where Masche flat out refused to play at City in 2010, the very same thing Cou threatened to do for the rest of the season? If he understood why Masche had to be sold for the same reasons Cou had to be sold back then, then why is he unable to understand why Cou had to be sold after using the very same tactics Masce used?

It is very simple. If Carra said nothing when Masche used the same tactics Cou used to put LFC into an untenable situation then he should say nothing now and stop feeding the trolls on Skysports.

13 Jan 2018 13:54:28
It's not quite funny, they stand there at their high-tech computerised tables examining the basic facts of the game, and from there the pundits can implicate whatever they like. But in this instance, Carra has just ignored everything that Klopp said.

Where the hell is his wisdom? The guy loves the club yet for some reason cannot see the irresponsibility of comments that potentially turn many fans against the manager and club and create toxic instability. Can you imagine if Liverpool don't make the top 4 and all these fans turn against Klopp/ FSG for selling Coutinho despite every reasonable point Klopp made to justify it, all because one influential pundit helped them believe that selling Coutinho was a crazy idea?

13 Jan 2018 14:23:41
Never listen to what footballers, ex-footballers or managers say šŸ‘.

13 Jan 2018 15:16:33
Stable, I agree with you on what pundits SHOULD do. The problem is they do not do that as you said Carra ignored what Klopp admited. It is either Carra believes him OR he is trying to fan the flames. The latter is disgusting.

You eloquently stated how Carra tho a pundit, is just using that platform, to fan the flames of discord and turn fans who don't trust the manager and FSG, on both parties hence, creating an us v them situation will could bring our season down. Pundits should NOT be doing that BUT we all know what Sky pundits are paid to do. They are paid to to push narratives to harm the club du jour, IMO.

I have stopped listening to Carra since he and the Neville bros. fanned the flames of backlash that got Karius benched against Klopp's will and NOTHING I have seen since then will change my view on him and other pundits really.

13 Jan 2018 16:27:28
It doesn't make sense to me at all mate, carra is a staunch LFC fan and he should know far better. I don't know what he gains from saying such things.

13 Jan 2018 10:56:29
eds about Henderson wasn't he more usefull playing like he did in the 13-14 season where he just could run around an harass the oppostion, make those late runs in to the box etc, he used to have decent amount of assists also or am I wrong.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he has fitness issues now due to injury.}

13 Jan 2018 11:07:51
yes true his heel thing that doesn't go away, cheers eds.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

13 Jan 2018 11:44:25
Ed1, do you know a lot of Liverpool players past or present that have had long standing injuries that had to be managed throught their careers? I know of Henderson currently with his heel and one which is not Liverpool related but Ledley King of Spurs who didn't train in between games and only did swimming apparently to keep his fitness up.

{Ed001's Note - loads have mate. Hansen is the one that jumps out as an example, he had knee problems. Tommy Smith's latter part of his career was played through injuries. In fact you would probably be hard pushed to find an older player who didn't have a long standing injury that needed managing.}

13 Jan 2018 12:09:19
I have had to go through the majority of my career carrying an injury, yes admittedly it does not affect my office job but its no less painful lol.

13 Jan 2018 12:28:45
Ed1 cheers for the reply can't believe I forgot about the great Hansen. Also I saw you mention somewhere the other day that Saurez might face a similar fate following his knee op in the summer which has affected his ability to twist and turn as he loves to do.

Its a coming, not going to lie that did make me chuckle. Unfortunately I have also suffered a long standing infliction in my office job and that's not wanting to be there half the time. If only I could sulk and get a transfer out with a large signing on fee and generous wages, one can dream hey.

{Ed001's Note - different days though when Hansen could carry an injury as players were not at peak physicality as they are now. Being slightly off costs teams badly.}

13 Jan 2018 12:47:30
I played with bad knees for years, Ed until I ripped my tendon and broke my knee cap in 2011 playing NFL-type football w/ my team. That's when I knew that I had to stop playing football or NFL-type football as my other knee suffered for it throughout rehabilitation.

13 Jan 2018 10:37:51
Seen that in last match some people were slagging Can and even here in the forum seen this happen.

Last season he played out of his skin to get us champions league.

If he is running down his contract, what's the problem? Ppl would have been pissed if he had signed a new contract and then pushed for a move.

We can ask him to be benched if lack of effort but please no disrespect!

Believable8 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2018 10:59:08
He was bollocks a season and a goodish last couple of weeks.

But he has to play out of his skin to even be near the level we need in our players.

Salah can have a half game and still be more th an enough for us.

13 Jan 2018 11:20:16
A bit harsh Winston, he's a Liverpool player right now and deserves respect. He's done everything to my knowledge the right way and been a true professional on and off the pitch. Now he's leaving people suddenly go against him. I wish the man the best of luck in his new adventure when it happens.

pankaj well said.

13 Jan 2018 11:22:04
When he is on it he can look the real deal and your not surprised Juve etc are after him, but when he is bad he is pretty awful, canā€™t make a 5 yard pass, gets caught in possession easily
I think people generally just get frustrated by the lack of consistency knowing what he can do. Maybe we should have played him in the number 6 role and kept him there rather than Henderson.

13 Jan 2018 11:39:08
Wasnā€™t he carrying an injury most of last season?

13 Jan 2018 12:09:14
Show some respect man! Klopp picks him. He wears the shirt and does the job he is asked to do. He simply wanted assurances over game time in the future which he hasn't been given. If he wants to go it's his choice.

13 Jan 2018 12:10:58
Aoe yes he was, well up until mid season anyway, but to say he got us into the champions league is a stretch though imo. He did contribute heavily in the last 5 or six matches though.

13 Jan 2018 12:51:10
Winston, chill out man. Saying Can has been bollocks for a season is well OTT. He has had his share of good and not so good games for LFC this season. On his day, he is a monster in CM, Fact. The issue is that he is inconsistent and needs to improve there. However, saying he's been bollocks for most of this season, is well OTT, IMO.

15 Jan 2018 07:09:23
Calling his inconsistency bollocks or bad is the same thing. Unless he wants to perform then he is utter utter garbage.

13 Jan 2018 09:20:19
A question to ED002 if i may.
I know you do not like to talk money and understand why.
I heard on the radio the other day a pundit say that Ross Barkleys move to Chelsea was not only Ā£15 million but also an add on of Ā£7 million to his agent.
How can they ask for such a large sum for negotiating a deal?
I know it can be more or less but normal negotiations in the outside world of football do not ask for such large sums, like divorce settlements or buying house etc.
With your inside knowledge do you agree with the amount for the work they do?
Surely the player should have to pay the agent and not the club.

Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what the payment to his agent is and that information is not yet available. As a percentage that would be a ridiculous amount and would not be justifiable. Clubs have paid very significant amounts to agents in recent years (and obviously the amount paid this window alone will be much higher than Ā£7M - more than double at least) but there are efforts to restict it. The buying club is responsible for the fees.}

13 Jan 2018 10:32:16
Many thanks for reply.
Good to hear there are efforts in place to try and restrict payments.
Just think that the player should pay the fees to his agent not a club.
Good luck with the rest of the window.

{Ed002's Note - In terms of the transfer it is a transaction betyween two clubs so that won't change. In respect of ongoing activities the agent does to find promotion work etc. it is already down to the player to pay.}

13 Jan 2018 12:06:00
Ed002 does a player pay a fee to an agent for being his agent? I know the agent gets a nice payment during transfers and that but does he get a monthly payment from the player during the rest of the time?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

13 Jan 2018 13:20:47
I'm not sure it's the same. but in modelling, they put in the contract 10% of the fee goes to the agency.
you don't pay them per se. but they take a percentage.
That's how I've dealt with it before.
percentage rather than a set amount.

13 Jan 2018 09:43:44

13 Jan 2018 09:06:54
Hi Edā€™s, thanks for all the hard work you guys do!

Do you think bringing in Keita now means can will be sold in January rather than on a free in the summer?

Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - not in my opinion scouse..

13 Jan 2018 10:02:42
I would rather keep Can Untill summer. As if kieta does arrive in January he can't play in Europe and will need time to adapt. And the rumoured Ā£5m ish we would get now for Can I'd rather he stayed.

13 Jan 2018 10:07:48
Can wants to go to Juventus, and his mate Khedeira is just making sure he doesn't change his mind!

The thing with Juve, is that they don't waste much money. They are very savvy in the market, and they don't tend to throw money at a player who they can sign for nothing in 6 months. So i think he'll be here for the rest of the season; that is unless Juve think that Can will help them to over power Napoli in the race for the title, of course.

If we get Keita and Ceballos/ Strootman (unlikely, i know) i don't get why we wouldn't just ask for a reduced figure though. Surely they'd pay Ā£5-10m this January to move the deal forward 6 months? We are stupid enough to pay way more than that fast forward the Keita transfer šŸ˜‚ Can wouldn't even make our bench if we signed those 2, anyway.

13 Jan 2018 10:17:48
As you say they don't waste money so they will not offer Liverpool anything that makes sense for us to sell him now.

13 Jan 2018 10:59:16
If we bring in Keita and Strootman, Iā€™d let Can run out his contract and use him in cup games only and on the bench in the league.

13 Jan 2018 11:08:54
I think Can will stay till the summer because we have a lack of bodies in the midfield area that can play as the deepest midfielder. henderson has become unreliable with his recent injury record and even if keita arrives that's not his most effective position imo.

13 Jan 2018 10:10:15
Thanks for the reply Ed025,

Can you or any of the other Edā€™s confirm if we have an agreement with RB to sign Keita now?

Thanks.

{Ed025's Note - i cant confirm or deny that at the moment scouse, it will depend on how klopp feels the club will cope with the loss of phil and whether the extra money they will have to pay RBL is worth it mate..

13 Jan 2018 12:53:21
Keita coming does not affect Can In fact, Can has signed a pre-contract to join Juve in the summer so for sure, he will be here this season.

13 Jan 2018 08:56:36
I think Klopp has done a fantastic job. Itā€™s all slowly coming together now. We now have one of the most exciting and devastating front lines in world football. A bit of steel in the middle and a new keeper away from challenging for everything. This is the best squad we have had in a long long time. We have some money too. Great days ahead redmen. Itā€™s funny how all the pundits have changed their tunes, and now think we will turn City over tomorrow. Iā€™ve heard people say we are the only ones who can stop them. Itā€™s pretty amazing when you consider how Klopp was being criticised early in the season. If City hadnā€™t gone on this freakish run - in a regular season - we would be challenging for the league now. Only lost two in the league and some of those draws at home, well best not to talk about them!

I can really see us doing the business in the trophy department soon and I havenā€™t said that for 30 years.

{Ed's Note - we have posted a new article entitled, Premier League Match Preview Saturday 13th January 2018

Believable2 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2018 05:13:10
Seems a lot of angst about our negotiating skills and what we've paid for certain players on this forum but let's just remember

- Mane and Salah look like bargains right now compared to what we paid back then
- We may have paid over the odds for Firmino at the time but again that looks like a very good call in the end given what he brings to the team
- VVD was definitely expensive, but frankly would have been at least 50-60 anyway based on stones, and we mucked him and Southampton around so paying over the odds to fix it and get in a top CB which we desperately needed makes some sense to Liverpool in particular
- Keita maybe expensive too but again we have yet to see if it makes sense depending on what he brings to the team, we certainly could do with an injection in midfield with Hendo injured, Can likely to leave, Coutinho gone and Gini and Milner not troubling the goal scorers

Overall I'm glad for once the club is prioritizing top players we need to strengthen the side and paying what it takes to bring them in.

We should leave the finances to others and not compare what we pay for individual players, just what it's costing us to improve the overall team, and you can argue we're doing a much better job overall vs Man Utd, Chelsea, Everton and a host of others. name by name comparisons are irrelevant as we showed when targeting 'better value' post Suarez, but bringing in a host of players that took us nowhere.

Believable15 Unbelievable1

13 Jan 2018 05:27:50
If you go back over 10 years ago when city owners first came in, they bought big paid more than other teams would, paid massive contracts to secure players, even though they were not successful, knowing this was the only way to get these players to come. Plus haven't we not been criticising Lfc for years on not signing top players because we wouldn't overspend to get them, I'm not saying I agree with how much Lfc are prepared to pay now but let's enjoy us seeing to try signing top players instead of the usual "potential "players we have been signing for years. Question for the eds, do you think this type of spending is for a bigger purpose years down the line, ie; euro super league, so signing etc players becomes easier when it will eventually happen.

{Ed001's Note - nope.}

13 Jan 2018 08:41:01
To be brutally honest, over all the years I been reading this site I have decided football club owners will never do right by all.
THey are accused of not spending enough on players, then when they cough up in inflated market that is wrong too.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, not as bashing just observation. Just donā€™t ask the Edā€™s about player values or that will be a bashing!

13 Jan 2018 05:34:58
I agree, Iā€™d rather we overpay for the right player than penny pinch and buy players who arenā€™t good enough. Who cares if we have overpaid for certain players, the club are fully aware of our finances and what we can and canā€™t afford. We paid more than anyone else was prepared to for Firmino, does anyone think that was a mistake now?

13 Jan 2018 10:13:24
Overpaying for players we want is in no shape way or form a good thing. Not all players we will sign will be hits, or Anfield legends. Overpaying by 30 million ā‚¬ for Keita and 20 million ā‚¬ for Van Dijk could literally get you another excellent player for 50 million ā‚¬. So no matter how they play we still massively overpaid for VVD and Keita no matter how you spin it. Hopefully they both do a great job so their price never is mentioned etc.

13 Jan 2018 10:42:33
Your missing the point legendary, they wouldn't be playing for us if we hadn't overpaid.

13 Jan 2018 11:03:53
I didn't miss the point, but mine is that they are not the only 2 players in the world, there are tons of excellent players around. And they could still play for us if we didn't piss off their clubs and had to overpay to get the players to sign if we went about the transfers in the right way. We paid 15-20 million euros too much on VVD because of the tapping up situation remember? I just want us to be better at scouting alternatives and negotiations because we can't go on overspending on every player Klopp wants from now on.

13 Jan 2018 01:41:54
Hi ed001

Do the club hierarchy at LFC know that this website exists?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

13 Jan 2018 03:37:15
Just curious, how closely do they monitor this site? Has anyone ever gotten into trouble because of info provided on this site by the eds or Macca? Appreciate if you can't answer these questions, ed.

{Ed001's Note - I did get asked by the club to stop giving info on team line ups, which is why I steer clear of talking about them before games.}

13 Jan 2018 04:07:57
This is interesting, I wonder if they know the identities of the eds. I'd hazard a guess and say they'd only really have a chance of knowing two people's identities, ed002 and Macca. I think with a bit of deduction, they'd probably be able to work out who ed002 is since he's 'in the industry' I guess you would say. Macca is a maybe but then again, he doesn't really post very often anymore. Although I'm not sure they're actually investing (i. e. wasting) their time in figuring out who is who on here, or at least I hope they aren't!

{Ed001's Note - they should be able to figure out who I am very quickly as my name is on the bottom of the articles I write....}

13 Jan 2018 04:24:34
I'd like to think that's the only identity they wouldn't be able to figure out, it just seems like the typical thing they'd do haha.

{Ed001's Note - good point, this is LFC we are talking about, they don't seem to be the brightest bulbs in the box.}

13 Jan 2018 04:51:10
Iā€™m chuckling away at thinking theyā€™re obviously going to read that too.

To be fair we seem to be doing a much better job of showing patience and getting in key players that improve the team, not sure if thatā€™s the transfer committee, JK or other.

{Ed001's Note - shame they still have no clue how to treat fans.}

13 Jan 2018 01:29:47
Reading about Keitas antics goading team mates about money and acting like a big man worries me. I get the impression he thinks he's already made it before he even kicks a ball for us. My worry is will he be motivated to improve and give his all when he arrives or will he half ass it happily picking up silly money. Could bite us in the arse this one.

Believable4 Unbelievable10

13 Jan 2018 04:28:02
I must have missed this story, do you have any specifics? Were there any mitigating circumstances? Who were the other players involved? When did this occur? Was it reported by a reliable journalist with quotes etc?

13 Jan 2018 04:44:53
Please mate, leave the sports psychology for the experts. Do you remember some of the stuff VVD to leave SH?

13 Jan 2018 05:44:25
@smeghead It was mentioned by one of the eds earlier, very worrying to say the least but I think his heart is set on anfield and I hope when he gets here it will be a different story!

13 Jan 2018 06:16:58
Iā€™m fully aware that it was mentioned earlier, my point was that we know no details behind this or even where it came from.

13 Jan 2018 07:55:29
Iā€™m not for one second condoning it but heā€™s 22 and getting a lot of stick from his teammates ed01 said. My guess is he doesnā€™t have the maturity to deal with the situation very well hence his poor reaction to it all.

13 Jan 2018 08:15:41
Wasn't there similar stories about mane before he signed and look how he turned out.

13 Jan 2018 08:49:24
Maybe it was misunderstood and he is just excited about joining such a great club šŸ˜.

13 Jan 2018 10:23:04
Smeg head, ed002 words are in many occasions more accurate than the best inside info you can get, frankly i feel the way you talk about it is disrespectful towards him and his massive knowledge and help to us ''clueless'' fans! Keita seems like a complete dickhead and just because he is joining Liverpool it is ok?! . It is NOT ok, and he is a perfect example of a player that will go on strike and kick up a fuzz once Real Madrid or Barcelona or PSG come calling! That should be one of the most important aspects of scouting, PERSONALITY and ATTITUDE, the guy seems like a complete flake!

13 Jan 2018 13:00:45
Legerndary, Ed02 may be right about how NK is acting BUT on the other hand, Ed01 has said that the RBL fans have turned on him on and off the pitch and are making life a living hell for him after he made it clear that he wanted to come to LFC. Ed01 said that he is receiving heavy abuse from the RBL fan base, the most reviled set of fans in the Bundesliga, I might add and that is not helping him. If that is the case, then he needs to leave them NOW and come to us so he can fix his head up and be happy at a place where he will be loved for sure, cos players obviously give their all when they are happy. NK is as motivated to come to us as Cou was to go to Barcelona or as VVD was to come to us. That won't be a problem, IMO.

{Ed001's Note - none of that excuses him for the way he is acting towards his fellow pros mate.}

13 Jan 2018 16:14:29
You are proving my point wonderfully Legendary. Iā€™m not questioning the Edā€™s knowledge, Iā€™m questioning how we as fans respond to the information we read. You know absolutely nothing about this other than a handful of words you have read and yet you condemn Keita as a dickhead and a flake. I would rather gather as much information as can from as many sources as I can rather than making snap judgments, thatā€™s not disrespectful to me, just common sense.

13 Jan 2018 20:15:03
Ed01, I will never make excuses for a player treating his team mates like dirt. I was just saying what you reported that Nabby is going through which may have caused him to act that way. That does not mean his conduct is being condoned as it is not.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think that caused it mate. I think it is a separate thing.}
