was just wondering guys, what happens when Anfield is finally re-developed where do we play our home games ? concon {Ed001's Note - at Anfield, just like we did the last time we did work on it.}

Can't we just borrow Goodison for a few months? They could use Southports ground and they would have near-capacity for a few games.

cozinoz

An idea when the development would start Ed?

Chaki {Ed002's Note - It is subject to planning consent so it may not be until the sumemr 0f 2014.}

Some at Anfield, some at Wigan DW and someat Wolves Molineuex.

Another alternative mentioned on here already is Shane Long, he pretty much leads the line as well as anyone in the prem, which would then free up space for Suarez and Sterling - trouble is West Brom would want top dollar for him - in the region of £15m, which would be a massive gamble for someone who doesn't get that many goals, however BR seems to look at the whole team and not just individual contributions

Wish I could press the disagree button constantly for this 1

Hi Eds

Has anyone mentioned a bid for Ben Arfa??

The way I see it, we need an attacking left forward and Ben Arfa for me would fit the bill perfectly, especially if there was a swap deal with AC perhaps.

Pablo {Ed001's Note - not by us they haven't.}

Its a good shout pablo, the kid impresses me everytime he plays.
Bit of a injury concern though is he not? Offer me a BA and AC swap though, id bite youre hand off.
Benny baller

He is really quality player. Would be great if we could sign him, but then again he wouldn't be cheap.

Chaki

13 Dec 2012 21:42:08
Shame you didnt post my thing ed002, really wanted your view on if the owners are feeling hate from lets say, the selected few "fans".

Benny baller {Ed001's Note - it is being held until he is next about mate.}

Okay 001! I wonder what the lads on here will think. To be honest if they have been receiving hate mail or what not, id be really embarrassed as a liverpool fan...
Ill always have faith in fsg, yeah they will cock up, like january and the dempsey saga, but its a learning curve for them too. people need to remember that.
Benny baller {Ed002's Note - I have answered it now Benny.}

13 Dec 2012 21:31:08
Don't expect much transfer business in January folks. Come the summer we will have 18 million from the Carroll sale and money from the sales of Henderson and Downing. FSG have trust in Rodgers and will splash the cash.

Which one is it then? We have to sell to buy, or FSG will splash the cash? Can't be both, brother.

Nick

Hendos going nowhere

13 Dec 2012 21:49:55
Who's most likely to come in in January if any?

Walcott.
Sturridge.
Bent.
Hooper.
Jeffren.
Huntelaar.
Barrios.
Gaitan.
Llorente.
Tello.
Sanchez.
Zarate.

Should we read into any of the stories of the above?

Jonesred.

That looks to be in order of most likely, with sturridge at the top. Going by whats on here and in media anyway, might not get any of them. Jdog

13 Dec 2012 21:48:42
"Also the senior players have been asked their thoughts on Sturridge..

No more info to report..

Cheers"

so does this mean that the senior players didn't respond? or wouldn't answer?
Neil

Sarcasm of the day goes to Neil. yay congratulations

I wonder if the senior players say they don't like/want him, will Rodgers still make the deal.

If that was the case then why would he even bother asking the senior players?

Chaki

13 Dec 2012 21:47:14
Not reading anything into this but I have noticed the Sanchez story is out again today. I know stories get recycled , but is there anything in this? Have we even just enquired about him?

Ed do you know of anything? Would you say it's viable?

Jonesred. {Ed001's Note - no I wouldn't.}

13 Dec 2012 20:58:48

Why is everyone so down on us targeting sturridge? Hes a good player, its difficult to come on for ten mins here and there and make a big impact, yet still scores wen he plays, he was quality at bolton and will be a good player for us if we sign him. All players need game time, and confidence will come the more he plays and settles in. He will be a great option for us im sure! Sturridge and walcott would be a fantastic transfer window for us!

Matt29

13 Dec 2012 21:16:07
I would be happy with Sturridge as long as he wasn't the only striker we bought it, Walcott and Sturridge would be great though

Exactly.very true...them two would be perfect for attacking options now and future too

Sturridge isn't exactly the goal scorer we need. Huntelaar & sturridge would be great!

Chaki

13 Dec 2012 20:54:05
Is there any chance of a young centre back coming in in January, eg ogbonna or kjaer, maybe even Bartra from barca?
LP {Ed019's Note - Centre backs are not the priority}

Why would you want one? We have wisdom, Coates, Kelly and Sama. Surely no other team has 4 better young centre backs?
CQ

Top striker is what we require to tap in all the chances we create and a top striker has to be greedy so if sturridge arrives i think he will do good i would prefer some one else but a goal is a goal who ever puts it in.red mick tag

We already have good young CBs.
Coates, Wisdom, Sama, Wilson. You can add Kelly as well.

Chaki

Hi eds, wanted to say doing great on here and for all the fans, giving us a good insight. I just wanted to clarify more closely on what is realistic. Liverpool at the moment are a mid table team and don't deserve to be there. We play some of the best games in the league and have generally the highest territorial amount overall. This can be seen an a useful factor for us when buying but my interest is in who do you guys reckon is realistic and also who is 'not a chance'. Sturridge and Ince are everywhere,so i expect them really. even though i think sturridge is a little above price for what he does and is and doubt he is gunna put away all the chances and opportunities we create. Don't hold me to that because it would be excellent if he does get the goals we deserve. But are we at all looking for anything larger than this or is it a case of what you see is what were getting. Like Dortmund do very similar things to us in playing style, bringing up the ranks and when attempting to spend big, use it wisely, just curious. Like sanchez has been flowing around along with villa. Mertens even though you have stated many a time that bayern is most likely for him. Ozil is unlucky to leave, Llorente is most likely going to wait for summer. Lewandoski is..... well i dunno, un-agreed contact. Gotze is unlikely, J Navas is homesick, El Shaarawy is unlikely etc. plus this sums up some of the silly questions other people ask about these players when the ed do a basically copy and paste as its asked so much. I'm just asking are we to expect anything else or something special? Thank eds and keep the posts coming. Daily checker here

A lot of these truly negative and panicky posts are currently being written in a highly optimistic and progressive period in the BR Era. There is encouraging signs of improvement, ie 1 defeat in 11 games. 3 wins on the bounce. The experiential development of some exceptionally gifted young players. I think we are witnessing the beginnings of something that should have been done years ago, that is to let the past be left to memories, and take a fresh approach.wether we get Sanchez or sturridge or whoever, this team is reshaping and remoulding and I for one really don't care what Chelsea or City or United or anyone else does, the fact is Liverpool FC is a worldwide phenomenon that will rise again.
The GT

Totally agree, really enjoying watching the way we play, previous few years felt like the players didn't seem to want to attack or move forward a great deal, now feels like the players are enjoying their football and attacking while creating plenty of chances. Just need a couple of pacey players to complement the squad. Imagine Walcott and Sturridges pace along side Suarez. Not sure in sturridge attitude but will enjoy giving who ever comes in my support.

13 Dec 2012 19:34:19
I am a Rodgers supporter....BUT.....if what Macca says is accurate, I think asking 'senior players' their views on potential transfer targets is a bit too 'getting down with the boys'

Puzzled {Ed022's Note - I agree with you. Why wouldn't they read one of my profiles on him for goodness sake!?}

Don't be silly that happens with every football team never mind professional. You want to know what fellow players that have played with him think plus you want to know his attitude.

In any form of management, consulation with the staff is important. This does not mean that you can not act without them or do exactly as they say however taking their point of view is important in regards to keeping them feeling important and to understand how changes may affect them.

Andy K

Maybe Rodgers is not arrogant to think he knows everything and wanted to know what the people who have played with him with England Chelsea and England u21's, particularly as he has question marks over his attitude. A good manager would surely seek as many opinions as possible before making his own decision on something.
Andy The Red

Seems smart move to me, he'll be asking about his personality etc. he'd basically be asking all the lads who play for England about him

Irish Redman

No.. Rodgers doesn't need to ask the players about his footballing ability. He will know that himself.. What Rodgers wouldn't no is what Sturridge is like on a personal level, Personality, how he would fit in the dressing room etc..People that would no are the likes of Gerrard, Johnson, Allen and Shelvey who have spent time with him in england and GB squads.... I wish people would stop trying to pick any little hole in Rodgers!

I don't understand all the doom and gloom over sturridge and ince. ok they are not falcao and media however I believe that they could turn out to be an inspired signing, a front 3 of sterling suarez and sturridge will scare many teams in the division because of their pace and unpredictability in front of goal. people who say stirrings is selfish maybe are right however he could easily bag 15 goals a season no one but suarez will come close to that. I believe stfridge might turn out to be a brilliant signing

first time posting

Because sturridge isnt good enough.

First time on a computer u mean . Agree sturridge an walcot is wot we need English players can finish an young we Dnt want fugfsrtyuuderyuuyrr from fc kutteyuiewesft we need a proven prem goal scorer . Post this plse edz LFC fazak

So Brad Jones has signed a new contract

This is not meant as an insult as I like the guy. Why is there such a positive reaction to Brad? Answers on a postcard please:

Because he is a Liverpool player!

Sam2jam

Cos he a decent keeper
FowlerisGod

Because he has done everything he has been asked to do whilst going through a really difficult time with his family. His performance in the semi final and his forst touch saving a penalty against the yak was up there with the emotions of being a lfc fan

Does there have to be a negative reaction? Has he done anything wrong?

Because he has stuck with the club, even when not getting many games, not whinged like some on here, and when called upon put on a good show.

Brad is a great guy, and pric*s like you would do well to know it.
Rant over.
Phooey...

Well after what this guy has gone theu and with such dignity i wish him nothing but all the luck and good fortune in the world and he his also a pretty good no2 goalkeeper. Well done Brad.

The Irish Rover

Nice to see loyalty and ur all right you need everyone to fight for the cause great guy and very good keeper too.

Supporters supporting the players eh? Whatever next!?

I can only imagine you are having a bad day which may explain your over reaction. I like the guy and the reasons are simple:

When he has made mistakes he has never hidden. Picked himself up and got on with it.
Has improved bit by bit.
Good honest pro.
Genuinely understands what YNWA means.

I accept your apology Phooey..

Coz he is a quality backup to Reina u muppet. We probably have the best backup keeper in the league after friedel. Is that not a good thing for our club?
Indian Buzzer

I remember when Doni got sent off against Blackburn I was thinking.... rubbish, we're in big bother here! Then when Jones came on and saved that penalty (after everything he had gone thru) I felt like crying! That is what being a Liverpool supporter is all about! Too soppy eds?!!

its geten really boring now evry time some1 has there opinion on here & if its in any way critical at all,,all they get is abuse,& there told to go & surport another team,

football is about having an opinion & if people having an opinion upsets you so called fans then dont come on the site ,simple..now in my opinion if its allowed,,sturridge isnt good enough for chelseas bench,but were willing to part with 12 or 15mil for him. a waste of money i think morgan would be better.Lets hope its only rumours,& rodgers signs at least one top drawer player in jan ,Lets hope weve learned from our mistakes last time
IRISH RED

Well said irish red.

Opinions huh! Down with that sort of thing! !

Good post Irish.

1. If I post a comment that some other users or Eds don't like then it is 'you are not a real supporter or go and support Chelsea,' etc.

2. If you mention Rafa Benitez or Fernando Torres then 'you are living in the past' even though these are current managers or players. 'Living in the past' means you want Bill Shankly back as manager and John Barnes to sign in January. Wanting Xabi Alonso back is not living in the past it is recognising that he is better than Jordan Henderson.

3. If you don't support Brendan Rodgers despite us sitting mid table or if you don't rate Fabio Borini then you are told to 'not be so negative' and that 'you should support whoever wears a red shirt.' By that logic should we all still be backing Roy Hodgson? Where does the blind loyalty stop?

4. If you mention a half decent player who we should sign then you get 'we can't attract players of that calibre' or 'we have got no money.' Really? We blew £30 million in the summer. Why didn't we go for Michu or Cazorla? Both players have been doing the business for years in Spain

5. I'm going to bed

The Sheriff

Hey Irish, I agree with you in regards to the 'go and join another team' brigade however when the negativity non-stop, and I am not suggesting that you are one of these, no matter whether we win, loose or draw and are personal attacks with out constructive basis, then I can understand supporters getting a little defensive. If we don't win, it can be ridiculous on this site and is of no benefit to anyone. As long as your points are supported and you balance them out with positives when they are deserved then I don't think you have too many issues.

Andy K

Go & support another team

Fair point Irish red. Perhaps the point you miss is that a fair few of us get frustrated by 'the owners won't buy falcao - FSG out. BR spent money on joe Allen - BR out' brigade. I for one realise just how far we have sunk. Therefore, I also realise that we are in a rebuilding period. I am quite aware that other fans (who are perfectly entitled) may not agree with my optimism, but I think we are at the start of something (potentially) special. I don't think my view is the best view or even the right view, and I love coming on here to read other fans views. But, what I don't like is the shallow nature of some nameless posters (or trolls) that spout vitriolic nonsense about the owners, manager, players or the eds on a whim. All well and good if you don't like the direction the club Is going in, but Ffs read the nonsense spouted half way through a game we WON last weekend - embarrassing . I accept that as a big family we will disagree, argue and debate, I just think that some of the nameless on here who can't understand why we are not 5 points clear at the top of the PL after less than half a season under a new manager fully deserve the insult to 'go support Chelsea'. Ask Roberto De Matteo whether he managed a club with a soul....

Sorry for the rant.

BigBadBen

Nice one BBB well said!

Norwich's Steak & Ale pies are alright. Nice flaky pastry, crispy around the edges. Thick gravy, good chunky pieces of meat - not gristle.
A bit on the small side though.
Compared to the joke that is food for footy fans (Shergar burgers for about £3 or 4 outside of every ground) in England, they're not bad at all ed002.
And you usually get a Suarez hat-trick for dessert after !

Eds fellow reds , a lot of talk about tello who has just sign an extension with barca ,but he has £8million buyout clause .i would sooner spend £10million on Honda much better player

Not Liverpool related, but respect to the one Udinese fan who went to go and watch his team away to Sampdoria. What a legend!

El Pi**edolero

Agree with you. A true legend and good example tonsome of the fickle fans...
Marc

I like :o) ha ha

I heard some of the article, why why was there only 1 fan? was it a protest or weather realted or just crappy support? {Ed001's Note - I believe it was just bad weather stopped the rest bothering.}

They normally only have 50 or so away fans. Then the crapy weather on a Monday night put most of them off. Not to take away from the lone fan, but he was in genoa (where the match was) on business, so even he didn't exactly travel to support his team!

Just a quick question,

Who out of all the Eds get's most abuse?

Thanks

Thatracoonstolemybacon {Ed001's Note - depends on which Ed has recently pointed out that Messi isn't about to sign for us, despite some nameless 'person' insisting he is.}

You are wrong Eds! All of you I'm coming in the summer!

Lionel Messi

It has to be Ed002. People dont like the truth and Ed002 doesnt hold back. Whereas Ed001 give us a wide birth most of the time (wisely)!

13 Dec 2012 17:36:33
the rumours here are getting ridiculous.

STOP with the suggestions of pato, hulk, cavani, sanchez etc, these kind of players will not be signing for liverpool considering the other teams that would offer packages upon availability.

STOP moaning that fsg are tight and never put decent money up for transfers, the amount they have given so far is a hell of alot more than most teams. the line has to be drawn somewhere with regards to inflated transfer budgets. the blame lies with previous player signings, and yes that includes BR, 25 mil on borini and allen could have been spent much wiser.

Lets start giving realistic targets instead of living in a world of fifa manager, and we can all get a better assesment of what kind of team we can have for the rest of the year

It would be good if you would STOP slating Allen and Borini. Both will turn out to be good signings

13 Dec 2012 17:34:49
Alexis Sanchez on loan to Liverpool are you people deluded or just plain dumb? When you read players of this magnitude being linked with us please dont waste the single brain cell you have by going on LFC forums and We couldnt even get Clint Dempsey/Gylfi Sigurdsson what makes you think a world class player like Sanchez would come to Liverpool? Before someone pipes up with Sahin he only came because he was made assurances that he would feature in the first team regularly and Arsenal didn't make the same pledge. I trust in Rodgers as hes a good guy and although our football is pretty at times but not penetrative enough for my liking I dont want to see another managerial change. We are at least a year or so from attracting world class talent again as Rodgers needs time to bed his system and get us up the league table and challenging. So please all you mental institution escapees do us all a favour take your medication regularly and do some drawings instead.

Hollywood_Miami_Red

Yup we sure made a hella lot assurances for first team footy. That's why he's got nearly 50 starts so far this season! There gets to be a point when fans are overly optimistic but you're beyond pessimistic.

What? Are you suggesting that Liverpool football can't attract top class players? Maybe Suarez is'nt top class then.

13 Dec 2012 17:26:49
Hi Ed any update on Raheem Sterling siging a new contract with us ? {Ed001's Note - I am sure it will be announced soon, I have no doubt he will sign, personally.}

13 Dec 2012 17:26:09
It's the same thing post after post: Sturridge isn't worth the money. We get your point. And some of you really need to get your views together, "ince is an overrated British player" you weren't saying that when he was linked with manchester united. Sometimes I'm ashamed how ignorant Liverpool fans can be...

Everyone wants the best for liverpool, but i think alot of people have seen what has happend in previous windows and dont want the club to make the same mistakes. i think 12 or 15m for sturridge is way to much for a guy who cant get a game at chelsea.

km

I get that but saying it time after time, nearly every other post does nothing but make the eds pissy

13 Dec 2012 17:25:28
How is that we are rumored to be selling Reina to Arsenal for 8m and possibly paying the same at least for Butland, maybe even more?

Where is the logic in selling a very good player cheap to a rival and make them stronger especially when they are looking very vulnerable at the back and then we spend that money and maybe more on a player that is not as good and won't be for many years. We are a basket case club!

kes

He hasn't gone to Arsenal yet so stop wining.
Tizer red

Save your moaning for IF it actually happens.

13 Dec 2012 17:09:26
Eds fellow reds , can't see why people moaning about pep reina for dont forget he is learning a new style of playing as well so ,still a top keeper on we need to keep him .

Lol, of all the players (minus Allen) Reina is the one most used to this style of play. [FR]

Not bashing pepe but, first of all pepe is a keeper, cant really see what's new in that, and even if he did have to learn tiki taka, I beleive he would have done that when he graduated from la masia.

And he would've learned that every summer and every time he's with the Spain squad...?

If you look back when rafa was in charge pepe was best keeper in the prem ,back four mopped up pep pin point long ball up field to Torres ,don't see that anymore from pepe

What difference to a goalkeeper does the style of play make???

News to break tomorrow...

Alexis Sanchez could become Rodgers most expensive signing yet as Barcelona FC are willing to accept offers in January that match or better their original outlay of EUR 23m. Sanchez does not want to leave Barca in this impending window but will be advised by the Spanish club to do so should an acceptable bid be made. It is also understood that Sanchez will more than likely look to join a club that will offer him a strong chance of a regular starting berth making LFC a potential option.

Since recently being made aware of LFC interest, Sanchez has enquired with club team mate Javier Mascherano about life on Merseyside and was subsequently informed of the great pride Mascherano felt when playing for the reds, their amazing fans and iconic stadium atmosphere.

It however remains to be seen whether Liverpool is an option that would appeal to the Chilean international, particularly as the reds have been out of the Champions League for three seasons now and interest is growing from elsewhere including Italian giants Juventus.

Rodgers however believes there is a chance and after shifting the dead wood of previous regimes the only septic contract to move on is that of Joe Cole. Once Cole has found an acceptable suitor, he will leave the club freeing up Rodgers to go all out for the signatures of both Sanchez and Sturridge of Chelsea, these agile wide forwards are intended to form a stylish and deadly three pronged attack full of pace, flair and interchanging of potions, specially designed to penetrate even the steeliest of "parked bus" defences in the Premier League.

If only that was true

If rodgers can really pull up Sanchez and sturridge in january I for one am pretty confident we will be finishing top 4 with lucas now back and borini due back soon..
and the front 3 of sturridge-suarez-sanchez would be unreal with sterling ,borini,assaidi as back up..replace downing with some one like gaitan ;) and we will be challenging for titles again

Sorry mate but Sanchez won't be coming mate .I know you might well of put him on your xmas list ,but ain't never going to happen .barca have started to use him as we'll now .

Lmao forgot to leave a name.. Classic!

Would be nice if true (you never know in football) Sanchez is quick great touch very intelligent just what we need to take us up a step,but seems unlikely..

Paisley's genius

13 Dec 2012 15:52:05
january-
Sanchez loan
Jeffren loan
Sturridge 10m
Ince 5m
Defender from spain dont know his name sorry

Summer-
Sanchez 15/18m
Tello or walcott 6/8m
Demba ba 6/8m
And a world class striker most likely to be-
Cavani or villa 25m/ 15m
And young players from across europe

Fsg is giving us 50/60million in summer

Ynwa

So FSG would redeem their mistakes of not signing a striker this summer by buying 5-6 forwards in the next 2 transfer windows..and what formation would we play then .. 1-0-1-9 or something ?

13 Dec 2012 16:30:30
Mate,i'm going to be signing Brendan out if we dont sign that defender from Spain who's name you forgot! The boys pure class honestly lads!
WelshBoyDave

To get sanchez and jeffren on loan, sahin would have to be recalled by madrid.

If anyone agrees with this they need to reassess their life and mental health

Agree with Welshboydave. I'm going to burn my 'Gerrard 8' shirt outside Anfield if we don't sign that lad from Spain whose name isn't known.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

8-10m for Walcott in Summer?? Next month maybe but he would be free agent in the summer if he doesn't sign new contract

No, I believe only one player can come in on loan per transfer window, so it wouldn't matter if Sahin leaves..

Sorry if i'm wrong, i just thought you couldn't have more than two loanees at the same time.

13 Dec 2012 15:49:37
Hi, Eds. According to twitter(not reliable i know) Its stated that, the owners have agreed for 4 new players, of which two deals have already been completed. Was wondering, if you had any idea, and who the two players might be?

Thanks,

Great news Brad Jones signs a long-term contract with the club.#legend

I totally agree. Fairplay to Brad who is a very reliable No2 and will push Pepe all the way.

Mighty reds

Great bloke, great goalkeeper...well done Brad YNWA

13 Dec 2012 15:44:03
All - lets face it, if....a big if, if we win our games before the transfer window, we will be in a much better league position to attract the names that you are all mentioning. So instead of gossiping about who we are going to sign, lets get behind the team and win the next four games, five if you include Sunderland on the 2nd January.

Stoke away will be tough.

Hi Ed hope all is well. I just watched a video of Kevin Gameiro and he's a much better player than Daniel Sturridge and hes going for around the same amount of money. Surely if Everton can get players like Kevin Gameiro we must be able to as well, This is my worry we going to waste money again on English that are not worth the money we are spending on them pls ED if there someone who you can talk to so we dont make the same mistake again. Kevin Gameiro is a great player and within our price rage .

Thanks Ed {Ed002's Note - If it went ahead I am not sure that you might not come to regret typing the words "Kevin Gameiro is a great player".}

Kevin Gameiro is useless. I'd rather stick Seb Coates upfront

BthekingB

If you saw a video of him on youtube then he's obviously a great player, isn't that how united scouted bebe? Lol

JJ

Gameiro? The guy who plays second fiddle to ibra at PSG? we might as well try n bring back babel or ngog.

Hi Eds can you post this on the rumours bit.

Why are people talking about Marquee signings. We are one of the biggest / well known clubs in the world who can attract the best players in name only. Unfortunately all players have management teams and clingers on who strive for stupid wages.
If every footballer had to play for free, we would be in the top 5 clubs in the world on every players list of clubs to play for.
Money has ruined the game and ruined the perspective of players and fans alike

Just see who we get in January and get behind the team.

Ed001 Mate, what do you think to Alex Perace of Reading?

Brendan seems to rate him highly, I havent seen much of him to be honest..

Apples ;96; {Ed001's Note - he hasn't played much this season, difficult to judge him to be honest. Reading rate him highly, but I have seen nothing to suggest he is good enough yet.}

Readings defence is woeful.

Given tello's buy out clause is £8m, i would have him before Ince. Ince is a championship player with one years experience. Tello has delivered in Barcas first team in La Liga.

A huge difference.

I haven't seen enough of Tello to really pass judgement but to be perfectly honest, I would succeed in Barca's first team, hard not too with all those players around you.

davethebutcher

I don't think wants to leave Spain though.

Your forgetting that tello only made his debut last season

13 Dec 2012 13:54:27
Those saying Walcott is just a bench warmer, he has sat on arsenals bench all season and has still scored 10 goals which is what Liverpool are missing, compare that to sterling who has started every game and scored 1 goal! You need to open your eyes

Sterling has just turned 18
compare Walcotts record when he was 18

What is amazing is how some fans are ready to settle for mediocrity??who is feeding you all this crap we can't attract top players..when did sturridge and ince become liverpool calibre of players..a chelsea reject and a former player we let go off..even totenham have spent less than us..and have bought better players than us over the years..how can you be okay with 15m on allen..waste of money.or even 11m on borini..does he think we are swansea,,we have been a midtable team,doesn't mean we can't buy better players..enough of the trash talk we can't buy cavani,sanchez,villa all that rubbish.??there.are better players with better value for money in europe..so you're saying meertens, damaio, honda, holtby, benat, jovetic, remy, llorente..e.t.c would turn liverpool down..that's rubbish..I rather we go all out for a very good foreign player.than spend 18m on 2 average,overhyped,overpriced english players..just loan sturridge rather than waste 12m..call me.whatever you like,but players like this only take us further from top 4..thought FSG should have learnt from last year. PACMAN.... {Ed001's Note - Atletico turned Liverpool's offer for Llorente down, we got Carroll instead. He was available this summer, but for more than we spent in total on his own. You are just typing rubbish, typical clueless fantasy nonsense this is.}

Stupid pointless rant, not from a true fan.

'...call me.whatever you like...'
don't tempt me... Singred

Ed's why do you's even put this kinda rubbish up? The majority of us are bored with it at this stage, its like all the doomongers have just learned how to copy and paste, dunno how many times i've read the same crap!
JJ {Ed002's Note - Actually JJ this is some of the better stuff from today's batch.}

You need to work on your grammar Ed! {Ed002's Note - I agree that a semi-colon would have been better than a comma in the last sentence.}

Tired recycled media and message board BS. Go get your own opinion instead of just believing the tripe you're told by fools.

SpudRed

I think there may be a point somewhere in that rant i kind of agree with.

I would also like to see LFC buy one quality player rather than two good or average players, Just think a Llorente or someone like that could make the difference for us, and I know it would be hard to get that kind of player but not impossible, I also understand that the term 'Quality' is completely subjective so theres that to.

However the rest of the original post is pretty much jibber jabber ranting and wishful thinking.

K-Man

Ed..i read the above post...is it clueless?
its spot on...the bottom line..we spend on medicore players..and we are continuing it...
i am sure the above paragraph means this... {Ed001's Note - it is completely clueless nonsense from someone who needs to get off FIFA and get in the real world.}

Should Liverpool look to an Orlando foreclosure attorneys if they have a strike problem?

Chris in Tamworth

Why all the disagrees? I'm just trying to work out who this clue is about?

He means Llorente

Attorneys: Law
Foreclosure: Rent

Ed 002 will work it out

Thanks Chris in T. Made my day.

Got it. Another anagram:

a good january window for liverpool
realistically

ins
jack butland(birimingham)
daniel sturridge(chelsea)
tom ince (blackpool)
alexis sanchez (barcelona)loan

outs
pepe reina
stuart downing
joe cole

Do you call that good window?

Sanchez will not be arriving and neither Pepe departing..Ridiculous.

You (OP) are as silly as silly comes. Stop stipulating what you want as it makes no difference to the LFC strategy. It is neither realistic nor fundamentally true so stop your random guessing without purpose.

Are you actually suggesting we would sell Pepe and bring in Butland as an immediate replacement, that is just ridiculous, i know fans moan about Reina but there are still no better keepers around who we could attract,
i personally wouldn`t swap him for anyone, stayed loyal,loves playing for the club, has his moments like any other keeper but still top class

Wardie

I think Pepe has been fine since he returned, he looks like he want it again. Maybe it is becuase Jones did well enough and Pep realises he isnt guaranteed?

Pie(p) Up
Let's have your views on the Best Pies in the Premiership.

Be as comprehensive as you can and give marks out of 10 (the best score being 10) for the following:
Pies (You can define Steak, Steak & Kidney, Chicken & Mushroom, Unidentified Meat).
Service (speed and courtesy)
Warmth
Napkin (N/A if none).
If you know the make then state it.
Be as objective as you can - when we are losing at half-time to a bitter rival they all have a metallic taste.

13 Dec 2012 11:30:17
Not Premiership anymore - but when I used to go to Turf Moor with my mate they did a good Hollands Meat and Tatty

Not prem and not pie but you can't beat the traditional Cornish pasties at Plymouth Argyle

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Are you a "pa-sties" pronouncer or a "par-sties" pronouncer Chris?}

I definitely don't pronounce an "r" that doesn't exist Ed and I get quite angry at those who do ie when people pronounce Pakistan as PaRkistaRn.
Although with my Cornish accent pasty does actually become paaaasty

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - So you can tell your Rs from your elbow?}

Many on here don't think so

Chris in Tamworth

I used to make the pasties in a factory in St Austell, Cornwall for the Plymouth Argyle matches. The crap produce that used to go into those was shocking. Still, better than Ginsters I guess!

nuclearboy

Nuclearboy I'm sure you're right and I'm certain it's the same story with pies all over the country but to be fair I am going back quite a while and they were better then

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - I recall that the expectation of Norwich pies being good because of the involvement of the chef (her name I don't remember right now) but a survey a couple of years back put Norwich well down the list. I guess those travelloing to away games should give some input.

Tomorrow, which club's adequate facilities are the most adequate - or "best of the bogs".}

The prawn sandwiches at old trafford r meant to be nice.Tommy Irish Red

Maybe I got the tenor of this thread all wrong bearing in mind most iof the posts I seem to read on here these days.
Maybe I should have said 'The worst pies in the PL and why we are going to buy them'.
Also why it is FSG's fault we buy the wrong pies, how previous management paid too much for the pies and why current management just doesn't have enough experience eating pies.
I think we should just buy all the best pies available - Harrods and Fortnum and Mason pies....
Oh, and ED002, why do you never answer pie questions?

I think Torres and Suarez will be our central striker and attacking midfield player next season . What a combination .

Francisco Roman Suarez , aged 20 , Malaga , known as Isco .

Fernando Llorente Torres , aged 27 , Athletic Bilbao .

Very realistic targets in view of the current club / player finances involved .

Isco a realistic target!? Didnt he just sign a new contract with Malaga. Plus if Tottenham go in for llorente yous lot don't have a chance, if that was the case west brom or Swansea may aswell go in for him. Pretty sure he will choose a team capable of winning respectable honours. Not a team that dreams of it...

Perth! {Ed002's Note - Barcelona, Manchester City, Juventus and Spurs have shown an interest in Isco and he came close to a move to Dortmund, who may still follow up the matter. I suspect AC Milan might look to the player as well. There were rumours of interest from Real Madrid and Arsenal. Malaga want 21M euros but will likely accept 15M euros if they are forced to sell. I would suspect Juventus and Manchester City are best placed right now. A move in January is by no means certain.}

15M Euro's is a flipping bargain for Isco

Just a note to the eds in particular 002,

Some of the people on here are kids and some older fans a bit like my own dad dont have the internet nous to know how to use the 'search function'
they are only asking innocent questions regardless of if theyve been asked a million times before, we all get fed up of the same old same old but sarcasm isnt whats needed maybe just a point in the right direction.....
For what its worth great site and i hope no offence taken
The Guv.

P.s do you know at what point Torres is coming back and bringing Rafa with him?.....pmsl {Ed002's Note - There seems to be no end of the posts grizzling and whining at the editors. We are stuck in the situation where questions are asked over and over again, if we don't reply and delete the posts we get complaints. If we reply we get complaints because we are giving repeat answers. So we introduced the search function to help out and now we get idots like you bitching about that not being good enough. In my view the search function is pretty self-explanatory and having the word "Search" next to the box should be make it clear enough. I am sure my 87 year old mother could figure it out. Certainly we don't get complaints about it from other club pages. I appreciate that for some Liverpool posters there is a need to constantly bitch about something - the owners, the sponsors, the stadium, the management, the players, the transfer targets, Ed002, the "Search" function. Hopeless.}

I'm not always bitching about things at Liverpool.
In fact I love everything about the club, players, management and owners.
Except, sometimes, the queue is too long to get a pie at half-time.
MartinR {Ed002's Note - Martin - the subject we always wanted was which club has the best "pies" - you should start a thread on it.}

Oh snap, best reply EVER!

Well done ed

Don't ever politely ask questions again, The Guv.

cozinoz {Ed002's Note - Ok Cozinoz, we will do what you want and make it so he won't ask anymore questions.}

Sorry, didn't realise you had the monopoly on sarcasm, Ed

cozinoz {Ed002's Note - I wasn't being sarcastic.}

If your dad doesn't have the 'internet nous' to use a search function how does he get on with google?

13 Dec 2012 13:07:41
The original poster's question was when is Torres coming back. And then he wonders why he gets a sarcastic answer, seriously it can't be that hard to find the search function maybe we should. Add a search function for the search function. Leem

I hope that was a trolling statement Leem. The Guv was talking about Ed002's level of sarcasm in responses to fans' questions. He followed this up with a joke about Torres, reiterating how Ed002 has to repeat himself. Hope this cleared it up for you!

Hi ed let me start by thanking yiu some much for all your hard work going into this web site. Im worried about our great club liverpool and i tell you why how comes everton are looking at much better players than us to sign in jan transfer window from clubs like psg and we are looking at med table players. Whats going in ed talk to me ita not looking good for us at all. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool are trying to sign a player from Chelsea if that is all you are worried about.}

Ed..not really...problem is sturridge..not chelsea...he is not good enough...to push for a CL 6 months time..from jan to may.. {Ed002's Note - Why not wait until he arrives then you can welcome him with the same abuse that many Liverpool fans give the other players. Make him feel at home.}

Ha ha ed yeah the liverpool players are always complaining about getting abused and in the ground you can hear it loud and clear that they dont like the manager or players... oh no wait thats the team who want to be liverpool...chelsea!! {Ed002's Note - Another idiot with the inability to read the posts on these pages. Again, it is nothing to do with Chelsea.}

But Ed 002 You do love a dig a liverpool supporters I notice it all the time, We send abuse to the owners, we slag players, we threaten the mananger etc etc. Show me evedince of fans doing theses things that you always like to make about liverpool fans. Your answer's to people are mince, every player we ask about is going to some other club. Bring ed 052 back hes a leverpool fan, gives good answers and sounds a top guy.

Scottybhoy1888 {Ed002's Note - It seems you cannot be a regular reader of these pages. For evidence of abuse perhaps take a visit after a loss. Or even a draw. Or why not start about one minute in to the game Liverpool won this past weekend. You could search on “Sturridge”, “FSG out”, “Rodgers out”, “donkey”, “deadwood” just as a few examples. You could reflect on why the owners have not been attending many games this season. As for my telling you that players are not linked to Liverpool – what do you expect if they are not? You want me to lie to you? I might get the occasional thing wrong, like Suarez, but do you want me to tell you Munian, Falcao, Hazard, Cavani, Mata, Coentrao, Neymar, Ganso, Goetze, Hulk, Paizon, Moura, Lamela, Lavezzi, Pastore, De Bruyne, Etoo, Jovetic etc. will be arriving? Did you find it upsetting when I said they would not be moving to Liverpool? Would you be happier if Ed052 had said they would have been joining up? And what would happen if they didn’t – you would simply abuse him instead of me; the poor child. Would you have rather I lied and said Dalglish would not be leaving over the summer?}

To be fair tho ed, you've had a pop at us through pretty much every post so far today.
What's the matter, got out on the wrong side of the bed?!
I think the reason Chelsea got compared to us then is because a) You regularly mention they are your team and b) You regularly mention us bein 'bitches' and 'unsupportive'.
It's only natural to add those 2 things together and get Stamford Bridge's finest!

Peter M {Ed002's Note - I would mention Chelsea if asked. I have never said anything about you being "bitches". Do you think constantly trashing the owners, management, players etc. is being supportive of the club?}

I don't agree with the moaning about the players but it is embarrassing that it takes a Chavez to point it out. Ed2 gives the best transfer information so I don't see why he should be blamed for what the reds do. Jake

Peter M
{Ed002's Note - I assume you are some sort of half wit - if you put something in quotes expect it to be construed as a quotation.}

Ed002 do you ever go to a game {Ed002's Note - I go to games now and again. I went to Utrecht against AZ Alkmaar a couple of weeks ago and will try to get to a number of European games each year - Chelsea, Marseille - as the whim takes me.}

Ed002 is the funniest ed on here, clearly the sarcasm and jokes go over most posters heads {Ed002's Note - Thanks. I'll be back for tea at five mum.}

Im not being cheeky ed and I seem to have got you to bite, Im 29 year old so far form a kid, and Im not some idot that post after games about how FSG should buy Falco or go, I understand where my club is at and what players we can sign. Do you honestly believe that these trolls that post after games are real Liverpool fans? Do you not think most of the unnamed trolls are other fans trying to make us lot out on here as monaing b**ts. We all dont want BR to go, We all dont think the owners are crap and should go home, maybe there are a small minority of people that think this but most feel were finally going forward in years.

We have a plan and thats going take time, and alot of patience, and bye the way im on here all the time, love the banter way the eds and i understand you must hear some amount of gash on here. But dont have your view of liverpool fans based on trolls on here that moan all the bloody time, I dont think there really Liverpool fans do you?

Scottybhoy1888 YNWA {Ed002's Note - To be honest Scottybhoy I initially thought many of the post game posters were either Everton or Manchester United fans screwing around - but it is clear now that from the length of the posts and the amount of detail that many are indeed Liverpool "fans". What you don't realise is the larger amount of posts are way more abusive and threatening and they get cut. Whatever way you look at it, it does piss off the editors to the extent that some will stay away from the Liverpool pages. I agree that the club is moving forward and that is why I have been suppoortive of the owners - sadly that makes me a target for abuse as well.}

13 Dec 2012 02:39:48
I can understand people on here jumping on the back of those questioning any potential signing. I understand people having a go at those who question Rodgers or his players after such a short time.

What I don't understand is those who bash people who question FSG. If it were for forums such as this where fans could get together and question Hicks and Gillet then they may still be screwing the club into the ground now.

Before you all start saying "but H&G did this, or done that" let's not forget It was Rafa who blew the whistle on what they were doing and the fact they wouldn't back him in the market".

Rodgers (maybe rightly so) isn't of that mould and wouldn't whistle blow as proved this summer with Andy C. Truth is none of us really know what happened there.

I personally have concerns over FSG and what they are doing at our club. I know they cleared the debt but they didn't buy the club and pay it off. They acquired the club at half it's market value by paying it off. Personally if I had the money and opertunity to buy any asset at half it's value I would.

Truth is we won't know what FSG are up to until things actually start to happen. When accounts are published and we finally get a bit of action on the stadium. That doesn't mean they are beyonned critism. So far they have proved nothing in over 2 years.

If anyone says I'm not a true fan for raising these points then so be it. So many people on here say being a supporter is about following your club regardless. I disagree. I love Liverpool FC and as with everyone I love I want what's best for them. Sometimes that includes asking a few questions.

YNWA

Cabbie man

Who paid 120 million for crap dalglish bought...u got ownership issues...

You don't have a clue

To be fare you problem with fsg is that rather then spend blindly they want to think about the options available to them.

KUMBER

So FSG are evil because they bought LFC on the cheap? They didn't, they paid the market value. They've also given the Kenny and Commoli comedy show 120m to spend on muppets. And they've given the club 50m interest free loans from their own pocket to cover losses these last 2 years. And they still gave Rodgers 30m last window, more if we could have bought Dempsey for the same price as Spurs were offered.

Look, you may be slow, but FSG saved our great club, made us debt free, gave money to spend, are balancing the books to make us stable enough to grow in to the future, they are expanding Anfield, and they've hired a young coach to implement a modern footballing strategy to bring us success on a long term basis. Patience is required. Some intelligence and reason too.

SpudRed

This is the problem with the brain dead masses. Simply said I have a few concerns. Didn't say what they were. Only said a few questions need answering.

Never even said they are bad for the club. You lot that think they are beyonned questioning are crazy. A lot of clubs have AGM's where shareholders and fans field questions and concerns.

Yet you claim I haven't got a clue because I'd like a few questions answered.

It's you that haven't got a clue. No one is faultless. It's werent FSG's money invested in players. It was liverpool fc's.

There has been no capital introduced as of the last set of accounts. So only the next set will show if they have now invested.

Blindlessly follow and never question when did our great club become a dictatorship?

Cabbie man

My problem with people like you is that to feel you have the right to question their intentions without ever knowing what they are or knowing even all the current existing facts. And, no, they didn't "just spend LFC money" as I said they've given the club 50m interest free loans to cover losses these last two seasons. Ye club itself didn't make enough to cover the costs of operation and crappy player purchases. However, FSG made sure we didn't accrue any real debt by loaning their own money to the club interest free so there is no yearly service costs.

Why do we feel that we deserve to question them and that they should answer us? They bought and they own the club. It belongs to them for now. And I don't blame them for not telling the fans everything as some of the 'fans' threatened the life of the owners wife. Why would they risk telling those lunatics anything?

People are so fickle these days. If all your going to do is sit their and look for excuses to bring Rafa back then you can sod off.

I don't care if brendan rodgers isn't a glamorous european manager who's won everything with barca or madrid. nor do i care if the players he signs are supposedly overrated british players (if your sat there wondering why england are so bad its because nobody at academy level or premier league is given a chance) who are nobody's and you would prefer higuain or cavani. nor do i care if liverpool aren't in a top 4 spot, if we are rubbish then we deserve to be rubbish, we don't have a divine right over everton west brom. it was based on these principles that lfc was established, if shanks saw you now he'd be disgusted. he would never have won anything if all he got was criticism and ill support.

brendan is a genious and is building a team for the future, not now, and knows a bit more about football than you glory hunters and misery mongerers out there who judge players based on FIFA overalls.

get behind the team,find an excuse to sing a happy song and with a bit of support and confidence the mighty reds might just get champions league.

if you can't be bothered with our little project then sod off to chelsea and ruin a few more players career's.

supporters like the club., the way club performs, the points we win, the attraction the club makes in world.

If we just keep our mouth shut and justify all the stuppidity happening in our club...then we are almost monkeys...

Liverpool is a great club with great tradition...Its a way of life..

My Take On Sturridge

Personally i think with a little tweaking he could be excellent for us. I do not know too much about his ego and his personality but a couple of Eds have informed me its not great. I have no reason to disagree

However, a lot of people are suggesting he isn't good enough. I do not agree.
i remember when he first got loaned out by Chelsea (Bolton if i remember correctly?) and he was excellent and fresh.

I love LFC and really appreciate the fact Rodgers is trying to change the way we play and i think we needed a fresh look.......However, with the slow build up passing game the one thing we miss is PACE and seomone WILLING TO RUN AT DEFENDERS! we need someone to shake teams up and i think that is what we are missing.

When we play, teams do not look scared of us anymore and i think that is partly due to the fact we are a little predicatble and need certain players being more direct

Gareth

Tweaking of another one year??
we have already bought players for the future...
what we are looking in Jan is immediate impact...

I hate it when people suggest Hulk as a signing. He is so overrated and if you watch any Zenit games he has not played one good game this season.

Who is the highest earner at Liverpool Eds and on what, also what Ed has the best Info regarding Liverpool... {Ed001's Note - Gerrard is the highest paid player.}

And he deserves every pound for what he has done for us.

Gerrard is on 170k a week plus.

No he's not.
