A break from all the take over speculation. No one knows anything anyway.
We have played 4 games won 1 drawn 2 and lost 1
5 points from a possible 12. 13th position in the League.
Roy has to be more positive with our starting 11.
We have to go at teams more and play Gerrard where he can do the most damage. .
For what its worth heres my top 11.

Reina
Johnson
Konchesky
Skrtel
Agger
Meireles
Gerrard
Jovanovic
Cole
Pacheco
Torres
Ok i know i will get some stick for leaving Carra out but to be honest he has lost any pace he had, He just hoofs the ball as far as he can now, Ok he puts some great tackles in now and again but is this really enough to warrant an place in the starting 11? ?.
Well there you have it . My 11 to get us in to 4th place by the end of the season.

RE:Glen Johnson

I think G-Johnson is a winger/ wingback. never a rbk. Although he can play in the position, it doesn't suit him. I think shane-wright-phillips started his career as a rbk and it didn't suit him. Although he could play the position, he was that great.

Unable to fully attack up the field. Or able to defend the space. I think G-Johnson should be allowd to play midfield

Is it just me or is Glen Johnson highly over rated he is positionally very poor only 1 out of 10 crosses clears the first man and generally his final ball is poor okay he scores the very occasional good goal but how much did we pay for him he would be better at right wing with Martin Kelly behind him or even better on the bench but he probably earns too much to start on the bench week in week out

I have been trying to give Roy my support but i think it shows how far we have fallen we he is "not disappointed" with a draw with Birmingham. I know they have an excellent record at home but we do not need a manager that thinks that kind of result and performance are ok. What kind of result do you think we are going to get with two holding midfielders, that aren't very good?
Faster we get new owners and get roy out the better, I am not encouraged by him one bit.

What do you think as well? {ed's note - I agree almost completely mate, apart from your last point. Chelsea have Mikel, Arsenal have Song, United have Scholes playing that position these days (though he wasn't trusted to be defensive enough against Everton) and City have De Jong. All of them are defensive midfielders.}

yeh i thought about them but look at them three based on yesterday's performances. song scored for arsenal, mikel hit the bar for chelsea and scholes had a fair few shots on goal and sat just outside the box creating the play. they might sit back but they've got an attacking mindset. and i said top 3 meaning arsenal, man u and chelsea. i didn't include man city because they are overstocked with DMs.

there's no need for 2 players to sit back, it effectively undermines the capabilities of your back 4. we've hardly got a "weak" back four have we!? {ed's note - I hate to see 2 players sitting back, it drives me mad. Coaches are becoming far too obsessed with defences these days, it is destroying the game as a spectacle.}

It was painful to watch liverpool play today. i like roy but he's got to be to blame for playing gerrard out of position. it worked when we had alonso playing cus he had the vision and passing ability to set up chances for gerrard and torres but with lucas and poulsen playing this isn't going to happen. gerrard is great running from deep but he's average with his back to goal. he's not a centre forward ffs. he's undoubtedly our best player so we should mould the team round him! play him where he wants to play to get the best outta him. look when he dropped deep towards the end of today, we started to create chances but unfortunately it was too late.

with regards to youth players i fully agree that they should be given a chance. shelvley, pacheco even suso. ok they're all very young but how old was fabregas when he made his debut for arsenal? 16. and now look at him. same with barcelona, they give young players a chance. look at pedro; played for barce's B team, was given a chance and ended up winning the world cup with spain.

i could rant on all day. . .

i'd like to see
reina
kelly carra agger konchesky

gerrard raul m

pacheco torres babel

f*ck defensive mids, look at the real top 3 now; none of their midfield sit back at an attack.

please post this ed as it took me an eternity to write.

"WHY OH WHY OH. . . . spells yo-yo. worst player on the park today was Torres. .Surprised nobody has had a go at Kuyt today for not doing much. Its not a partner for torres whats needed its cover for him when he plays like that. .Lazy, semi uninterested, and looking like he thinks he made the wrong decision. I am hoping Mereiles and Cole play next week. Gerrard is never a support striker/ midfielder. .What baffles me is a World Class player never hides and can grab these games by the scruff. . I am deeply disappointed by the main players who we tend never to blame but apportion blame to others. I don't ever remember Maradona, Cruyff, Pele Etc playing poor like this. that's the difference between Hero's and Legends. SMF(and don't blame injuries)"

I sort of agree but Torres did not get any decent service did he, both him and Stevie were isolated and both had to drop back to get the ball and there was no one up front, for most of the game it was obvious they did not trust any one else and only passed to each other . and how can blame them, all the others gave the ball away . .

Blaming Rafa is getting a bit boring now, it was a decent opponent so we can't complain too much, but my only concern is this 442 formation just for the sake of having a new managers stamp, because the players have n't changed and they for sure can play with 442 set up . . I agree with a couple of posts, Lucas is completely out of his depth in this formation , Poulsen might as well stand in same line as Carra and Skertle , and Maxi is the only player than make Kuyt appear skillful. . and as for our new left back too early to judge but have n't seen 4 something million better than Insua . as a matter of fact Insua was better going forward.

Who thinks against Bucharest we should try playing Johnson as right wing, and Kelly or Darby as right back. If it works, should we use it against Man U?

12 Sep 2010 22:22:46

Roy hodgson is a bell end!
liverpools all defensive, long ball and no flair now :(
cant even beat birmingham and then he said it was a good result!
we wernt playing barcelona for god sake, we are never gettin to top four playin like this, only scored 2 in 4 prem matches

12 Sep 2010 22:17:54

Anyone help me? I didn't see the game but on radio it sounded like we gave Birmingham a dozen great chances. How come we play tight and well against arsenal 2nd half with ten men (until 90th minute), but today we let a physical team boss us?
My impression from the commentary was if they'd had better class forwards we'd have lost 4-0 or something.
Ok, we're level with City and Spurs, so a top four finish is still a possibility. But those two will not carry on f* * g up, so we can't afford to either.
How can Roy get these guys playing? Its a dead cert Meireles will be in on Thursday for Lucas, and Joe will be playing too, but what about the right wing? Was Maxi really that bad? And who should have come off for Pacheco to shake it up a bit?
And is J

The only thing Torres can be cheesed off with is his own performances. .Is he cheesed with Gerrard, cos hes underperforming. And I disagree about Rafa he hasnt left Roy in a mess. Rafa lost the plot wth some decisions especially subs and full backs. but he left Roy wth a resonably healthy team. We all knew what Roy needed he had the time and money. was poulson necessary with mereiles? koncheski will be a good buy. but like someone said he could have sold lucas ;and got a Dzeko or an Aguero or Forlan. we got poulson for nearly 5 mil and spurs got van der vaart for 8.5. .and Roy still had money left. At the end of the day whats done is done. i now just want every player to give his all and i'll be happy. SMF

Im a massive liverpool fan and as
disapointed as i was with todays
result i don't think we should judge
the team yet at least lets wait till
we get cole back and raul and gerrard
in the middle i think we need to
drop jova and maxi and give the
young lads a chance what have we
got to lose this season. .

Its about getting your priorities right in the transfer market. If he was trying to sign a striker then surely he should have used that money plus the 4.5m for Poulson and bought a decent central midfield player. If we play this way and this side against Man U we will get hammered. Jovanavic, Poulson, Lucas, Maxi are complete pants - don't give me they need to gel and settle down when you sign for Liverpool you should hit the ground running. I am sick and tired of LFC signing players and saying it will take them time. Torres to me looks completely cheesed off and can't remember the last time I saw him smile. I would play Kelly right back and put Johnson right med.

Maybe we're playing negative because we simply don't have enough forward players? We have one good striker, are wingers are grafters, and our midfield except for gerrard are. .ahem, hard working? Need more pace everywhere, get raul in the side. lot of work to do in january

12 Sep 2010 20:53:40
Once again what a poor show by liverpool, how can lucas be first choice again and we still play with 2 holding mid fielders poulson is useless?? I JUST DONGT GET IT! ! gerrard and torres will leave in january and who can blame them when they look around the pitch and see headless chicken running all over the place.
WHAT TEAM WAS G. JONSON PLAYING FOR TODAY? (SHOCKING)

12 Sep 2010 20:47:35
Seriously Roy says that we are over staffed with too many players who don't bring anything to our club and Roys also says he has been gettin rid of all the deadwood, well by today's standards he has a job and a half on his hands. To say Roy is supposed to be an inteligent bloke well it appears he hasn't learnt much in his short time at Anfield. Raffa paid the ultimate price for his stubborness in continuing to play Lucas and it now appears Roy is following the same path. With only Cole missing the bench we had today will be the same for the league all season and dare I say it Lucas will be a regular. Roy wake up like the 99.9% of us b4 it's too late and never play Lucas again. I agree with Roy we won't win the league this season and judge us after 10 games but by then we maybe way off the pace and not to finish in the top 4 will result in us losing Torres Reina and maybe Gerrard. Disgruntled Red on his way home from the match!

12 Sep 2010 20:47:24

If it hadn't escaped your attention, we got humped 3-0 when we went to 4-4-2 away from home last time and every man woman and child were baying for Hodgson's head for it. Although i'd question two holding MF, it's perfectly reasonable to go 4-5-1 away from home as it floods the midfield - most sides do it in one variation or another.

Sorry but mcfc are not Birmingham, City will be fighting for top spot this season, and against us they had one of the best footballing displays they have had for a time, they zipped the ball around very well and the movement was class. I can't see why Lucas is first on the team sheet, I honestly don't think we really need a holding midfielder, i would put shelvey in, he looks class, give him four games to show if he is ready, i believe the lad can cut it. The new portugese fella looked ok, we will see. i'd play a diamond, with shelvey and gerrard rotating, miereles and cole the same at the front with torres up top, let the full backs bomb on because we have no width in wingers. Johnson is getting worse for me, just looks like his attitude is as if he doesn't have to make any effort, drop him for Kelly, make him realise he has to work for a game. Why can't a manager be as bold as Mourinho and make subs as early as he see's fit, because i was crying for a change at 55mins, but in good old Rafa style it came after 70.
I support the team through thick and thin, so before some jump in and say differently, i am giving constructive criticism not shooting them down.

12 Sep 2010 20:34:14

Just arrived home from the game. The display was a disgrace. Never mind havin a go at the moaners this is a poor team with a poor manager. He has told us his expectations are not high and not to expect big things what a defeatist. This is LFC and is this just to deflect the critics from his door.

1) Liverpool fans who have watched football and are quite knowledgable could see a change was needed after 45 mins. RH waited until 14 mins from time.

2) Liverpool V Trabanzapor (Anfield) Lucas and Poulson was too slow. Easy to defend against. Plays the same again. Not learnt lesson

3) Critical of Benitez for not giving Babel too much play time. How long has he given him so far?

4) Like Benitez too scared to try and win a game of football. Options left on bench

Seriously if you guys are quite happy that Hodgson talks nicely to the press and does not cause fights with other managers fine, but be prepared to see Liverpool finish mid table. I want a manager who has the guts to change things around when not going well, I want a manager who gives players like Pacheco a chance, I want a manager that when he signs a player plays him.

Would we have been worse off under Kenny I think not.

12 Sep 2010 20:20:02

Sorry to say as a massive LFC fan, but nothing has changed. its just like rafas still manager.we were shocking today against brum !our tactics are so negative! ! GONNA BE A LONG OLD SEASON

Moaners to the left of me, moaners to the right. .
It wasn't a good performance, but I'm sorry, if people genuinely thought we were going to challenge for the title this year then they're insane. We're only four Prem games in, Hodgson has lost a key player in Cole for three of them and barring a last minute howler we'd have beaten Arsenal at home. We haven't recovered from that yet and there's an air of lingering pessimism that things just won't go our way, but the last thing we need are unrealistic fans looking at where we are in relation to Chelsea or Utd. We were always going to be in a fight for fourth this year and currently we're only one point behind Spurs and City and we've played poorly. Give Hodgson a few games when he's got Meireles, Cole and Konchesky at his disposal before you write the team off. Too many fans think because they've played Football Manager that teams gel overnight and we should be buying 7/ 8 players every transfer window. It takes time to build a side.

well said mate.

12 Sep 2010 19:46:36

Another game another poor performance, why after all this time do we still insist on playing Lucas, surley if Roy wants to keep his job he has to start listening to 99.9% of the fans he IS NOT good enough, also he should be playing Johnson on the right wing and Kelly at right back, and i don't see how Christian Poulsen will improve our squad either. We should not be going to Birmingham playing two defensive midfielders. It is so simple why can't our managers see it. Maxi is also to slow for the prem and Milan Jovanovic seems like a headless chicken, we need quality pace down the wings i won't say any names because we all know who we want. At the end of the day we were lucky to get a point thanks to Reina, in fact i don't think we even had a decent shot on target. Get it right Roy and soon please before we turn into another Leeds etc.

Give Pacheco a go. He must be given a chance. Not just 4/ 5 mins from the end.

I musta run out of space in my last post, but my point was, how can hodgson call himself a top flight manager? we know hes got muppets in the squad, lucas, maxi, skirtel, and worse of all johnson, if hes a right back im a monkeys uncle, hes a shocker, and as for poulson, if he don't perform in 2/ 3 games, what a waste of money hes gonna be, another lucas, useless and colour blind, and how can hodgson not see it? and why not bring on subs at 60 mins, give babel, pacheco, a chance, can't do any worse than the muppets ive mentioned, the new lad looked ok, so did konchesky till he was injured, we need a leader who knows the game and art of football, not some middle of the road manager like weve had for past 18 years, wake up and smell the coffee manager, your selections and tactics are questionable, buck up or buck off. we don't need also rans at our club, THIS IS LIVERPOOLFC

Ive posted once before, and its kinda the same scenario, im 55 years old, supported the reds since i was 5 and everyone else was a bluenose, i was the odd one out, ive watched my beloved team go from top dogs to underdogs, since kenny resigned, the team has gone from bad to worse, souness, what a muppet he was, great player s* te manager, evans, nice guy played good football but was always undermined as manager, houllier? should of stayed in france, maybe a good tactician on paper, but clueless in the real world, Benitez? ok for spanish football, as its a bit like scotish footy, only 3/ 4 teams competing, arrogant, ignorant and i wouldn't have him buy my weekly groceries after the muppets hes bought, Hodgson? well im afraid to say it guys, but hes as clueless as the rest we

Whenever I see lucas on the team sheet I expect liverpool to lose, he is weak on the ball. and very poor when going up for a header. But worst of all is when he gives free kicks away on the edge of the penalty erea. We have not had decent midfield since Gerrard was pushed forward. I would love to see Meireles and gerrard together in mid field. When Meirelis came on for Lucas for the last 15 minutes, the game changed immediately. I, m sure we will see the best of liverpool from now on. YNWA

Did we really turn a 9m euro offer from Benfica and Sporting Lisbon for Lucas Leiva on deadline day, because we had no fit cover in defensive midfield?
I am sure Jay Spearing would do better.

Why doesn, t David Moores buy Liverpool back and right the wrongs he created. Just a thought

Allegedly part of one consortium.

12 Sep 2010 18:50:16

That was as bad a peformance as anything we saw last season. Gerrard and Torres looked miles off the pace, Lucas and Poulsen offered nothing in midfield, and as for Glen Johnson, I wouldn't have him selling hotdogs outside the ground! Very worrying.

Before everyone stars moaning about liverpool today we need to have a look of what roy hodgson has got. Poulson and lucas are'nt first team players we all know that when coles back gerrard and meriles will play in the centre we need to be patient with roy cause its not his team yet and we have too at least give him till january window and wait for the takeover to happen, to all the realistic lfc fans please be patient and trust roy to get things right and get behind lfc for the game against the scum next week Ps torres is still not fully fit yet so please don't get on his back cause on his day he's the best striker in the world plus we need a bit more pace on the wings!

ABSOLUTELY. WE MUST GET BEHIND THE TEAM. THEY ARE CLEARLYLACKING IN CONFIDENCE. HOPEFULLY SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN AND EVERYTHING WILL CLICK INTO PLACE.
I THINK POULSEN IS BETTER THAN A SUB THOUGH. HE IS GAINING FITNESS AND HAS PLENTY OF EXPERIENCE. LUCAS WILL BE THE ODD MAN OUT IN MIDFIELD WHEN COLE RETURNS.
BIRMINGHAM ARE NOT THE BEST, BUT CERTAINLY NOT THE WORST EITHER. THEY ARE USEFUL.
THE TAKEOVER ISSUE IS CLEARLY PLAYING ON EVERYBODIES MINDS. PROBABLY BEST TO TO OLD TRAFFORD AS UNDERDOGS. WE ALWAYS PLAY BETTER AGAINST UNITED WHEN UNDERDOGS.

Oh yeah i forgot to thank a certain mr. Pepe reina for saving us from another 3-0 hammering, but then again he does it so often im really not that surprized. And to the other guy who posted that we'll have gerrard, raul and cole in midfield against man u i pray to God that you're right. Lucas, poulsen, johnson, maxi and i say this as a complement to them, are all accrington stanley level players.
Red bl00ded!

Why doesn, t David Moores buy Liverpool back and right the wrongs he created. Just a thought

12 Sep 2010 18:31:11

Ed, i am so so sorry i was so pi* ed off i forgot to mention that pepe played a blinding game, a round of applause please! i shudder to think what we would have been like without him today!

12 Sep 2010 18:28:35

We need the likes of turan, navas, elija, young, drenthe, lennon, bale etc

12 Sep 2010 18:25:23
Four games into the new season nothing has changed Manure next week, this time next week we will be 10 points off chavski if we perform like we have today. Top ten that's what we can hope for this season I'm afraid. Johnson Lucas poulsen maxi jancovic all s* te not fit to wear the red shirt

12 Sep 2010 18:25:22
Just after watching the match. birmingham played well very organised team play as a unit.but pool why do persist with this lucus and two holdind midfielders 0-0 not a bad result but gerrard far better playing in middle meirless looks good why didn't he start? an konchesky played well went off injured. hav to say also javanovic good runner no end product johnson thinks he is on top of the pops a disgraceful performance by him today i feel for babel not given a chance different manager same negative approach. early days jury still out on hodgson? 4 games 2 goals no width or killer instinct. i hope things will get better. and on a another note wat is truly going on with takeover. red 4 life

12 Sep 2010 18:20:29
All i have to say after that is jesus christ! And judging by that performance and our last trip to manchester, it looks like we'll be taking another hammering against u know who. And mr. Roy's team selection and tactics didn't help either. But don't worry people, the team is still not at its best just yet and it will get better. It certainly can't get any worse. .
P.S ED(s) your predictions for the game against man u? Im too afraid to give mine.
Red bl00ded! {ed's note - I am far too superstitious to give a prediction on that one.}

12 Sep 2010 18:20:24
Maxi Rodriguez was as bad a Glen Johnson for me today. He didn't take on a single defender down the by-line to put in a decent cross, yet he is right wing. I know Babel wants to play more up front this season but at the moment i think he should be given a chance on the right wing. Hopefully he'll have the balls to take on some defenders. . Meireles looked sharp when he came on, however the game was far to open by then to get a proper analysis, but what i saw was very promising. If we are going to play like this we might aswell put in Pacheco and let him have a try. I doubt he can do any worse. He was player of the tournament at the u19 tournament. Look what happened with Barca when they gave Pedro a chance

12 Sep 2010 18:19:58

When i read a post by a dismayed reds fan saying that roy would turn us into a mid-table team i thought that the statement was un-fair at the time!
well after watching for the last 90 minutes or so i am starting to agree, roy's tactics today belonged on a sunday morning park game we looked championship not champions league at best, we are back to the old way of not being aible to beat the lower ranked teams, we could have put 3 points to good use and capitalised on the draws this weekend , watching roys expressions it did not look like he had a clue how to beat brum. well i'll
give you a couple of clues roy , don't leave your best attacking options on the bench, and don't sell deadwood to buy more deadwood. us fans will stick by you but don't take the p*ss out of us.
if you can't manage a top level side do the honourable thing and pass the reigns to MR.DALGLEISH who certainly knows about attacking football.
a pi* ed off redsincebirth

12 Sep 2010 18:05:50

Undoubtedly ed . Glen johnson was their best player. . So was lucas till he was substituted. . Play martin kelly. carra or agger in the masch role will be perfect. Throw out the deadwood man. Shove poulsen of juventus'ass cos they are having a laugh at us now for being so foolish in buying him and sending aquilani with a buying clause of such a low price. . But can't help it. All this happens when a club
Are owned by a couple of jokers !

12 Sep 2010 18:05:19

4 games played and were already 7 points of the top what a disapointed result today

12 Sep 2010 18:02:56
To say that that performance today was garbage is an insult to garbage. What it does show that we have another manager who doesn't know that present-day football is a fourteen man game. You don't bring on substitutes with only minutes to go - you bring them on when they are needed and today they were needed early on. As far as I'm concerned it is time to give the youngsters a start and not just a place on the bench. What did he hope that Miereles could do in the few minutes that he was given?

12 Sep 2010 18:02:05

Roy hodgson has done a great job in the press conferences. But the training ground is the main thing isn't it?
Or our players jus that pathetic? I am sorry to include torres in tat list, cos I think fitness comes under consideration while judgin a player. He looked jus ok but not in the mood !

12 Sep 2010 17:55:43

Commentator says its been a steady start to roy hodgson's career . I think its been ridiculous . 2 draws . One thrashin. And an embarrassing victory . Man of the match pepe reina . The oly guy saving goals . The only guy trying to create goals

12 Sep 2010 17:52:55

Poulsen is playing right back. Cos glen johnson is busy refereeing

12 Sep 2010 17:48:36

I ll pay a team 5mil and force them to take glen johnson. {ed's note - you might struggle, unless it's Birmingham, he was their best player!}

12 Sep 2010 17:45:16

Meireles looking great! Why the hell didn't he start ?!

12 Sep 2010 17:26:17

Glen johnson sucks !
Jovanovic keeps slipping and falling . What a team man. . Really disappointed indian lfc fanatic.

12 Sep 2010 17:26:07

The biggest waste of 20 millon in the history of football= glen johnson

12 Sep 2010 17:15:58

Is glen johnson playing for us or the opposition? He seems to be some kinda setup job for the opposition strikers. .

12 Sep 2010 17:07:56

I ll pay that many stones as his salary. Glen johnson is full of crap man. .

12 Sep 2010 17:03:23

Get lucas and poulsen off and never again let them put a liverpool shirt on .

12 Sep 2010 17:00:31
RUBBISH! ! Am I the only red who is wondering what the f*ck is Woy doing, that midfield in the first half has got to be one of the all time worst I av ever seen for the reds. Why or why do we have gerrard up front we need gerrard back in the middle to create something from midfield we need Pacheo up front to support Torres Raul to replace Lucas and Babel to replace jancovic. Press reliable if u agree. To the editor do u agree with me. A frustrated red

12 Sep 2010 16:55:31

Need a beer that 1st half was a disgrace. Lucas and Poulson are at best awful. What a shambles Hodgson. What team spends 11 million on a player and leaves him kicking his heels on the bench. You should go at teams from the very first whistle. My team have really fallen so from the top its depressing. Seriously this is no better than when we had Benitez boring boring boring

12 Sep 2010 16:55:29

I say glen johnson rather sit in his washroom arrangin his hair behind his ears! The guy is busy ball watching !
Replace lucas with meireles. Bring in pacheco, replace maxi. Come on roy. .

12 Sep 2010 16:52:54

I mean. . If anyone still comes to the support of lucas after the first half display, I would say you are an outcast. Its a shame you watch football. Be it any poster or even the eds!
The guy can't play! Put me on the field , I ll do a better job man !

12 Sep 2010 16:52:09
Folks! I'm sitting beside a Manc here, watching the match. He's said he heard that Jonhnson is the highest paid player at Liverpool on £138000 a week. Any truth Ed or is he talking thru his backside?

The Irish Rover
{Editor's note - He is talking thru his backside}

12 Sep 2010 16:03:05
Hi Ed!
I can't get onto chat room even though I registered yesterday. Says my name is already in use! It is! By me! Any ideas?

The Irish rover {ed's note - sorry mate, try registering a different name. I am getting it looked at because it is a problem.}

Breaking News

This is official so can be taken as TOTALLY TRUE!

Liverpool to confirm that the Takeover will go ahead within the next 5 years

The new owners will be people, that's almost definate! !

Probably men or women, may be both!

They will be from one of the many countries of the world.

They may/ will have money, or at least have the ability to lie to the Banks to obtain enough finance to buy the Club

Two persons already ruled out of the race to own our club are any PRATS called Hick and Gillett.

You heard it here first, in the know, (and any or every other stupid tag line you may wish to add)

rasone

p.s. Most Liverpool fan and bright enough to know that we will learn about the takeover when it happens, not when some ASS on here right down a guess.

Remember the saying , If you give an INFINITE number of Monkeys, infinite paper and pens and time, one of them will write a Shakepeare Play.

So when the news does comes out, please don't claim that three weeks earlier you were in the know, you look stupid enough already

rasone

12 Sep 2010 15:30:59

Come on Roy what's with the team selection! Negative selection AGAIN nothings changed we may as well av Raffa back. 2 holding midfielders against the brum come off it! If that's a sign of things to come we are well and truly f*ckd

12 Sep 2010 15:07:23
Messi is starting to wind me up, "(Javier) came home from training every night crying to his wife ('Liverpool nightmare')".
King of dribble and drivel.
Hope they both tuck into a dodgy seafood paella sometime soon.

After the debate between some of the editors of this wonderful site and some of the contributors to the site on friday over the 'merits of or non merits of ' Sheikh Mohammed al Maktoum taking over the ownership of the club,
I believe everybody is worried about the club been taken away from the fans and the local community and becoming the 'play thing' of a sugar daddy. But unfortunately unless we can organise some sort of 'fan buyout in the Barcelona mould', our financial problems and the takeover of Chelsea and ManCity by people of superwealth have become a 'gamechanger'. We need the infusion of cash to regain our place in the super elite clubs ( according to reports in some newspapers our financial problems are common knowledge, not least at Bayern Munich). When Ambramovich took over Chelsea he outbid and gazumped LFC with bids for Wright Phillips and Duff. We are now totally unable to compete at the highest table.
I realise that some may not want Liverpool to become the 'owned' by a multi billionnaire and there are issues of human and womens rights in UAE/ Dubai (Dubai more liberal than most in the Middle East though?). But what we need is a custodian of the club, who cares for the club, will spend some initial cash on players but won't be abused by those only interested in big wage packets, uses the youth set up to find new talent, understands the fans and understands the ethos and ethics of the local community.
As we 'probably' need a new stadium and some money for players each summer the idea of a fans buyout seems out of the question as of 2010, so the only person recognisable to the British sporting public for his success in horseracing ( there are plenty of unknown/ dodgy names on this site), who allegedly has supported Liverpool for many years, has huge personal wealth of £18bn and would see it as an honour to be the custodian of Liverpool and to make Liverpool a success again by investing in the club, stadium and local community is Sheikh Maktoum.

12 Sep 2010 13:51:08

As October approaches and deadlines have to be met at the banks, all Liverpool fans should get ready for the anti Liverpool brigade (i.e the London media and press) to write and talk about our financial situation.
They all continuesly neglect to mention that our current miserable financial situation is mostly caused by the H&G leveraged buyout. Remember the club was always run very 'properly', if conservatively in previous decades. It was not just success on the pitch which led to the club being admired around the world. it had alot to do with how the club was run behind the scenes and its work done within the local community.

Not a rumour, just an opinion. RBS are pulling out of ireland as they lost s* t loads in lending to builders now they i am sure are doing to The yanks what there share holders expect get the money back from those who can ie the club is for sale not for profit as far as RBS are concerned they have already made % interest. The yanks made a rookie mistake they have refused to sell up to now as they want to profit from the sale, RBS have decided enough is enough. Ireland has cost them Billions in debt they won't recover but they will recover the £230 million ish from the pool as they are wanted by viable business men. So the yanks have three options sell to one of the buyers or pay the debt back, or lose the club as payment to RBS in lue of payment, now the best thing is if RBS take the club and sell below the money borrowed by the yanks they yanks will have to repay the difference which is great those b* tards have taken the piss for far to long. rafa had to go we all agree to that but the list of players he wanted to move for is huge but the yanks failure to back him and follow through on there promises f*cked him and us, they bought time because we turned on rafa last season when he was plagued with bad luck and lost the plot with his decisions. To be fair he lost the dressing room every week we all exxpected him to be sacked as did the players.

Now If the yanks fail to sell as the loan is personal the club will not be in the hands of recievers but the yanks will be in the toxic bank section.

Now just a fact to remember DIC are RBS biggest share holders. I still believe they will get the club i think the China bid was a front to try and get the club for the price of the debt as I think they all know that DIC are the leaders because of the RBS connection. So I can't wait for DIC to get there prize they have tried for years to get and offered to buy the yanks out at least twice but the greed of the yanks got in the way.

Birmingham v Liverpool

Starting line-up
- - - - - - - - - B. Foster
- - S. Carr- -R. Johnson- S. Dann- L. Ridgewell
- - - B. Ferguson- - - - -L. Bowyer
- - - S. Larsson- - C. Gardner- - -J. McFadden
- - - - - - - - C. Jerome

. . . . . . . . . . . .F. Torres. David N'Gog
- -M. Jovanovic- - . . . . . . . . - - - M. Rodríguez
- - - - - - - Raul Meireles S. Gerrard
. . P. Konchesky. M. Škrtel. J. Carragher. G. Johnson
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .J. Reina

liverpool traditionally lose games like these. Birmingham normally get a draw or the win. Expect S. Gerrard, G. Johnson to be very tired after international training. capelo likes to run the players into the ground and Torres too; Who shouldnt have gone on internationals because of his injury.

birmingham have fit, well rested team with experience pros. i wonder how Raul Meireles will deal with a dirty player like L. Bowyer in midfield.

zamora had his leg broken this weekend. ref decesion may be intresting to see. Maybe alot more yellow and attention on types of tackles.
