Question for ED001,

Do you see Morgan as ready for first team? I can't say he has taken his chances very well when he has been given them myself. I know he's done amazing in Reserves but so did Mellor.

He didn't seem as ready and composed as Sterling and Suso have been.

Nevada {Ed001's Note - not yet, he tries too hard. I do believe he can come good though.}

Who would you like to see playing in the front 3 then if you would be so kind as to further indulge me?

Nevada {Ed001's Note - you mean other than Suso, Suarez and Sterling? I would defo like to see Yesil given a go, Adorjan I think can have a part to play and maybe Ngoo. Morgan I would like sat down with a sports psychologist and calmed down a little. Prepare him properly for his chance, we don't want him to suffer the abuse Lucas took and now Henderson gets.}

My first choice trio would be Suarez, Sterling and Suso also, but I also think there may be some in logic in what K.Bennet said about pushing Gerrard into one of the wider of the front 3, though I do feel based on current form both Suso and Sterling deserve that place more than Gerrard.

I've only seen Yesil play just the once so not really sure what kind of player he is, was hoping when we signed him he would be a proper striker. Is he more of a creative forward or a goal scorer? I know his Germany U-21 record speaks for itself but that's not always a good indicator.

Nevada

The kids are very decent players,my issue is that in a 4-3-3,we need all forwards scoring goals,and i dont think its fair to put that kind of pressure on them. They should be carrying a notebook this first year,not carrying the team. I think they need to be blooded in a non stress enviroment,which i know isnt possible with the squad we have atm. Just in an ideal scenario,they are good players but wont get us 10-15 goals each,and its not there fault,by any means,but thats what we need,and they cant deliver that at present.
Seriously please dont think im slagging off the lads,i just think that if we put to much pressure on them,it may come back to bite us in the ass.

This documentary is the biggest mistake we have ever made. It's coming across like we are rank amateurs. It has to stop. It gives too much away that should be kept behind closed doors. Also, in what possible way can the envelope thing help anybody? Rodgers comes across like a massive egotist who likes the sound if his own voice.

Bring back Rafa. Unbelievable that we ever let him go

Gazman {Ed001's Note - so you want rid of Rodgers because he is a massive egotist, yet you would like Rafa back who is also a massive egotist? I suppose you have also forgotten how Rafa made the club look like rank amateurs with his leaking every little detail of every little thing to the likes of Guillem Balague? The kind of things that should have been kept behind closed doors.}

Winners have egos, did we not know that?

And his embarassing press conferences which often left him and the club and his players with large amounts of egg on their face.

His "Fact" rant was in the top 5 most embarassing things I've seen a Liverpool manager do.

Nevada

It's a FACT that rafa's rant is measured by it's sucess, he knew UTD would come through strong in the second half of the season and he tried to get the upper hand on decisions, public perception and just generally creating the them and us seige mentality. It failed, we can only feel bad about that, but if he said nothing and went introverted would we have done any better? It's one of those turning points, a massive gamble. If it worked we may have been working towards a third or fourth title with a sparkling new ground, it didn't, but it's not the only contributing factor to the last 3 years decline. {Ed001's Note - I find it strange that it has become labelled a rant, he certainly wasn't ranting.}

That's perhaps my fault, in my social circle the term 'rant' is used loosely to describe someone losing the plot a little.

You could also add Rafa's embarassing "I'm just the coach" press conference to his other embarassing items. Though I will give him credit, the time when he said he couldnt stop to do an interview because he was rushing to hospital to see how Robben was doing after he dropped like a sack of potatoes to get Reina sent was magic.

I still do think Rafa is a good tactician, he is just a poor manager, perhaps the reason why to date we are the only club who entrusted him with that level of power and control.

Nevada

The Fact Rant wasn't a rant It was a Fact. The knowledgeable fans will agree it was all FACT

After rafas gone liverpool have spend more than 150 millions, this is the amount he spent in 5 years. Sucking FACKT {Ed002's Note - Benitez spent more than £250M in five years.}

Mark Lawrenson sums it up better than I can - 'Come on! Shankly would be turning in his grave. So would Paisley and Fagan and all of those Liverpool legends.'

Why can't you see it lads? As the results get worse its starting to get embarrassing. The cameras should not be there. I'm dreading the next one with the transfer window closing. Does Rodgers openly slate the owners on camera for not buying A striker like the rest of us did?

I bet Fergie is loving every minute of us sticking the knife into ourselves.

Read what Lawrenson says.google

Gazman

He was somewhat better than the milkman we have at the moment.

This is not strictly LFC related, but Giovanni Trapattoni, who couldn't even be bothered watching prospective Irish players, is being paid 1.4 million Euro a year to lose 6-1 to Germany and Rafa Benitez is sitting unemployed in his house on the Wirral.

I'd give my right arm for Rafa to end up managing Ireland.

- Something Red -

God no, get in big mick mccarthy. i don't care if we get pelted 1-6 by germany, but at least do it trying to play football.
derryred

Derryred it great for LFC then as we are playing the best football in the league and not loosing 6-1 just a nil-nil draw or a 3-2 loss.

Jesus Christ! How Bale does not have a "reputation" for diving in the game is beyond me. Against Aston Villa he did what I can only call an attack by a ghost for the impact he "felt".

And now again against Scotland in what the BBC courteously stated as "minimal contact" to win a penalty.

Surely by now everyone should know that when he does that stupid two hands out infront of him slide, it is usually a dive - like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLuMmsgktUU

Yep well once fergie says it, notice how suarez got decisions up until he totally embarrised uniteds defence.

Being Liverpool comments

EEK - The envelopes, that's not positive reinforcement - might be a clever reveal sometime in the future but a young squad doesn't need that pressure.

And quite disappointed with the breakdown of West Broms play - it's ok breaking down strengths and weaknesses of their players but the bit we saw was their technical set-up, They'd just changed managers, and to someone the squad knew better than BR!!

Still believe that BR has a philosophy and set-up that will suceed long-term, but what i've just seen was a bit of a black mark - I hope it was more about setting the team's routine up for the rest of the season than a game-plan for that game, at last I understand why we got tonked!

Three disagrees so far, would love to hear a rational argument beyond "support the team", "you're not a fan if you ever disagree with a manager's decision".

Reference the last part of my post, I believe the Rodgers system is gonna work long term, but I really would like opinions on both the "Envelopes" and that piss poor WBA analysis, show your intelligence as LFC fans and respond in a measured manner.

Its just a motivational tool and its not the first time this technique has been implimented at a football club.
Players who don't want to be in the envelope will make an effort.
Players who think their own names are in there already know in themselves they aren't doing enough. This leaves them with the correct message, improve the attitude or move on.
(Are we taking bets on whos names should be in there? I'm gonna start with joe cole)

Huws

13 Oct 2012 02:15:47
Assuming there are actual names in there, why would BR keep them around? It will be rubbish like "self doubt", "indiscipline" and "Laziness", but that doesnt change the fact he's unsettled players with it. Damn I like him but I hate the envelopes!!

Or it could just be Downing, Downing and Downing, he seems to hate him that much lol.

What an insult to jamie
Why are they putting subtitles under his speech
Are you deliberately trying to undermind his confidence?
Rogers seems in love with his own voice and his silly whistle

As offensive as it may seem, a lot of the viewers are not from Liverpool therefore, his accent is very confusing. The subtitles are just for convenience honestly, dont make a mountain out of a molehill.

You have to remember this progam is broadcast in the states as well, and the scouse accent may not be too clear to them.

Besides its not an insult, they're not picking on Carra, they subtitled Allen last week.

Nevada

Speaking of jamie and brendan, i get the feeling that brendan is grooming him to be part of his coaching set-up, u watch being liverpool i always catch glimpses of them two talking, hope so think jamie will knock a few heads together

I'm from Liverpool and I wish carra always had subtitles haha

My nephew(a red) can't understand a single word he says, it's to help people like him understand the great defender. Not to insult him!

Whatever happened to liverpools business being done behind closed doors
What would shanks make of our every move being filmed. How can the players act and converse like a team with this documentary watching their every move
They all look so unhappy with it, no wonder we are playing rubbish
The americans just do not get it
We are a side show at the moment

About three minutes plus injury time.

is this our strongest under 21 team-
belford
flanagan
wisdom
sama
robinson
shelvey
adorjan
teixeira
suso
sterling
yesil
i know theres one or two more youth who would fit in a few places, but from watching the squads , this is the strongest under 21 team i could pick if needed ,whats everyone else think..............lfc

Pretty much the same for me though I think McLaughlin has to be in there- in place of Flanagan at RB

Belford is no longer in the plans which is a heart breaker for me as I went to school with him at alderman smith

Ward for GK. Belford is a little flapper like Reina.

Shelvey is a wonderful player

Shelvey has the attributes to be an exceptional player, he needs nurturing, mentoring and confidence. I really see him as SG's long term replacement.

10 minutes into the 2nd half and the Corporate seats are still half empty at Wembley.

That, in a sentence, is what's wrong with football today.

I've noticed they're always late out in the second half in that ground. Doris the pie lady needs the boot for slow service.

Firstly im not anti FSG or BR, i am a LFC thru and thru and will support them even if we was in non league football but when people give an opinion on fsg or BR they are entitled to it. Forget SG saved us blah blah, anybody who took us over would of saved us, at the same time we need to be grateful but until they been given the time to prove they are in it for the long haul then they will get doubted, at least give them time to succeed or fail tho before writing them off, Same goes for BR, he has a plan that unfortunatly for us fans will take more than a season at least give him the time to build his squad and say to us all "4th is bare minimum" before writing him off, im not totally convinced of it all but i wont stand here and slag em off or try n force em out without good reason. They both stand 100% better chance if EVERY fan is pulling the same direction, lets get behind the current plan as 1 and make ourselves heard at Anfield like it should be. YNWA

Good points made here.
Remember Man City and their bottomless pit still took 3 years before they accomplished anything. The main thing people should be looking at is not where we are, but where we are going. The manager is of an ideal age to grow with the team he builds so give him time to really stamp his mark on it. Add to that the crop of youth players coming through and I really believe that if people can ride out the next 12 months then we will start to see major improvements. We've waited 20 odd years for a league title, try to enjoy the next 12 months and shake the negativity as players draw energy from the crowd.
There are a couple of teams in blue right now that should be suitable for fans who don't have the patience please feel free to go watch them if you want to see large sums of money thrown around.
Support LFC as your supposed to, this is the start of the project, not the end.

Huws

Huws i wish i could like that comment again.
well said.

Another thiing to remember is that City are trying to not be a bottomless pit now. Whilst they still spend more than most they are suffering the effects of their spending as they cannot sell players due to the ridiculous wages they are on.

What great players man united have in cleverly and wellbeck they are struggling to get in the game against the mighty san marino. As I type wellbecks srikes the post with the goalie on the floor. Better then shevley and carroll? Not a chance

Wellbeck is just there to win penalties. Thats his "role"

OK so I get home today after a long day of listening to talks about statistical data analysis and log into my favourite website to see.... a lot of people moaning about the injury to Borini.

A lot of people have been moaning for the last...whole beginning of the season that Borini isnt good enough and is playing rubbish. Now you're thinking its doom and gloom because he's absent from the squad? You're just finding any excuse to attack FSG. Borini was not playing in the centre anyway, Suarez has mainly operated in centre and recently Sterling, Suso and Assaidi have been in the wider forward positions.

It's not the end of the world. I like Borini and think eventually he will be worth his 10m, but we won't exactly be missing him at the moment will we. If you're going to complain at least find something valid to complain about.

Is it me or is it disgusting to see how disrespectfull ITV are being to san marino, yeah they may not be the strongest team but there's no need for the condescending comments.

We'll see how poor we are when we only win 3-0

What did they say? Sorry I don't watch England matches

As bad as they are they make woys boys look average so how bad are they england are a joke like the fa and the manager

I noticed that myself. Bbc have always been more professional than itv hence why they have match of the day.

Both england and san marino r absolute rubbishe

I hope San Marino win to shut the commentators up.

English football in all it's arrogant self delusion then comes tournament the jingoism the nonsense (Rooney is our messi the white pele no less) then the quarters the semis the penalties the beating by a superior team then the humbling the inquest & the inability to learn,the country where Rodgers is demonised for playing football & pulis is lionised for a brand of "football" that epitomises all that is British & yet we still admire brazil without noticing the irony....
Paisley's genius

12 Oct 2012 22:47:40
Especially the person Adrian Chiles and by the way how bad is Wayne Rooney?

Chris in Tamworth

I tell you what really caught me off guard was the ITV intro. Talk about setting bad tone before the game that intro was an absolute joke and a prime example of how the england team will never win any major titles as its just a political tool for the senoir players and the FA.
It is not, and hasn't been for years, a football team thats chosen by merit. Maybe remove automatic selection and they might worth watching.

Wow i go out and watch my country get molestered by germany and still have a great time whilst you all complaining about england, who just won 5-0. shocking

Original Post Response;

Didn't they just extend the losing streak to something like 55 games, they're a joke and there should be a way that these teams are removed from interacting with top teams, I'm not sure if Theo's injury is serious but if he just got robs broken by a Sunday League keeper it's a travesty. The smaller nations should have to qualify to get into qualifying groups, look at the australisia groupings where Aussys smack 20 and more against pacific islands, whats the point?!?

Derryred Ireland has a brilliant fanbase that never have outlandish expectations for your team. England is so far up its own a**e that I'm surprised it doesn't look like a contortunist. I honestly couldn't care less about England even if they managed to win a tournament.

I've found my self incredibly frustrated recently, not at the club, but some of these 'supporters'. If I was Brendan Rodgers, of FSG, or any of the players, and saw some of the absolute dross on this site, do you know what I'd think?
Why the hell am I putting in effort in for these ungrateful fair weather supporters? If I was John W Henry I'd think, why has my company saved this club from administration, invested heavily in players, paid off their losses? All I get in return, is threats to my self and abuse to my wife. If I was Brendan Rodgers I'd ask what you want to be done differently? We're playing wonderful football, we're not picking up enough points because of stupid mistakes. Who do you want instead? That questions irrelevant, you'd want them out after a bad game. Why don't we buy Messi? What would be the point, he'd have one bad game and he'd suddenly be dubbed 'deadwood'.
I love this football club, I know a lot of people on this site do too, but I'm actually embarrassed to be associated with some people on here. I honestly thought Hicks and Gillet left this club rotten, but it's some of these fans that are rotting it from the inside. No matter what, FSG aren't a joke, Rodgers is not a joke, none of the players are a joke. You are.
A ridiculously frustrated Red.
Daniel YNWA. (hope some of you guys remember what that means)

Great post. Shame at the time of reading one fool has disagreed.

Daniel what dribble,if i was john henry i think why has my company saved the club from administration invested heavily in players paid off losses,and all i get in return is death threats,he is a business man. yes he didnt deserve threats to him r his family,but he will get his money back and alot more r he wouldn b putting his money in the 1st place henry aint doing this cause he a liverpool supporter ,he is doing this cause he is a business man and he seen a good opportunity to make money so please dont cod yourself and make him out to b a hero,td

Daniel mate these were the exact word I want to sayI personally beleive the guys posting here arent even LFC fan they are some bitters supporting some other team, they come here to get us annoyed and embaress themself. But they wont succed there are enough LFC fans on this site and around the world who knows what FSG and BR are doing here and we respect them for that. we will continue to support LFC forever and we will be very very successfull in the near future
Red 316

Gr8 post m8 couldn't say more and i think its time to CHANGE OUR MOTTO YNWA cuz as on now BR some players and FSG are walking alone
shame to be LFC fan

One of the great things about technology is that it gives a voice to those who wouldnt normally have one. Another is that things are so more instant than they used to be. The down sides is that this creates a need for instant gratification, if we dont get it we come up disappointed. As a combination of these things, people with newly found voices are in a state of constant excitement, both positive and negative and feel a need to be heard. This breeds irrationational reactions instantly without having time to think or put in context. I agree with all you are saying but sadly, this is the current reality. With the freedom to express comes responsibility however the second part is seldom accepted e.g. the anti-muslim film made in the states, yes they have the right to this expression but just because you can, does not mean that you should. This is an extreme case however the principles remain true to blogging spots like this too. I am all for BR and FSG and the direction they are taking us, I unlike some can see the progress and the end goal AND will be patient in watching them achieve this while enjoying the ride. Red for life.

Andy K

I dont think football clubs are all that profitable Andy k, especially compared to the other ventures he could've have entered which are far more lucrative. Even successful teams like Madrid, Barca, Man u aren't rolling in it, they are all in debt.

Nevada

First off would like to make it known I agree with both Daniel and Red 316.
Would just like to add that I believe the age of the fans is a major factor. Basically any fan who can not properly remember the last time we won the league has grown up being spoon fed an attitude that to win you have to throw money around. Thats why they shout so much because we're not spending 80 million pound per player and thats whats been drilled into them as "necessary to win".
Everybody else with an ounze of patience knows that the recent United success's didn't start from buying 30 million pound players. It was kicked off by a rush of players coming through their youth academy. Scoles, Giggs, Beckham etc.
Man City been throwing money around for 4 years, have they even made the knockouts in the champoins league yet?
How long has Roman been at Chelsea and how much has he spent for his 1 success in the competition?
Maybe people need to step back and consider a change in attitude, lower expectations, understand fully where we're at and why we're here. Because over the years we spent to much on over priced, over hyped players. The success of the club made it a draw for the mecenaries, right now I am happy these players are busy draining chelsea and the manchester teams of their resources. Any fan who says we need to spend 100+ million on players needs to wake up. I for one am made up we have reverted to a philosophy where players are going to earn their peanuts for once. This gives them hunger and determination and is a better team ethic for progress.
To use Torres as an example, the guy was involved in a 50 million quid transfer deal that handed him the champions league medal he had always wanted. Do any of you think he EARNED it? Edin Hazard is another example. All set to join spurs until chelsea took their spot in the champions league and he was off like a shot. Expect him to be heading towards madrid or barca first chance he gets, as he's about as loyal as Robin "6 year sicknote" van persie + wayne "true blue" rooney combined.
Get behind the team, shankly once said they are priviledged to play for us, maybe its time we considered showing the players why he said it, instead of making demands from them.
Y.N.W.A.

I would actually take Hooper , he is unproven but at the moment we need a finisher not another skillful allrounder.

I think if this rumour is true that we need to be patient , this lad is totally unproven in the prem .He is a talent and I believe could do well but we must be realistic and let him learn.

kobi

We don't have the time and money to purchase another borini. If where purchasing anyone it's because we want the player to make an impact not so that we can be patient with him.

I agree mate, his movement is great and the goals he scores aren't relevant to the league he is in - he nets some fantastic goals at tight angles that any keeper would have trouble saving. It would simply be a case of him trying to adjust to a heightened level of physicality and under a lot more pressure from defenders not giving him the room he's been allowed in the EPL, but given time I think he'd be a real threat. He's still young and he's really eager to prove himself. I think he'd be a quality buy. My only worry would be, would it hinder the progress of the likes of Yesil and N'Goo? Although I guess at the moment the more options we have up front the better really.

why cant we go for exciting players like tadic who is playing fantastic for twente and was very cheap

Trouble is you say he is cheap but as soon as agents know were intrested in a player the players price goes up and up because in the past we have spent stupid money on average players, agents are on to us as a club now.

I know, I mean it isn't like we haven't got any exciting players already is it? Assaidi, Yesil, Teixeira, Suso, Sinclair, Sterling, Adorjan, N'Goo. None of them are exciting are they?

We need a stronger squad that is for sure, we will mostly add to our attacking options in January but will leave Andy Carrolls replacement until the summer.

Striker(no.10); Hooper - £5m

Wing forward(right); Walcott - £3.5m

Wing forward(left); Dries Mertens - £10.5m

Center Back; Andreas Granqvist - £5m

= £24m

Cole, Downing will be sold; we want to get £8m

Danny Wilson, Pacheco & Coady will all be loaned out.

Making us £9m from player departures as FSG will invest £15m in January.

Walcott for £3.5 million?
What planet are you on?

Jay

Mertens I believe favours a move to Spurs linking up with fellow countrymen in vertonghan and dembele! but I doubt anything would happen until the summer anyway!

I don't think all that will happen in January. Realistically speaking where probably going in for 1 or 2 attacking players (forwards). £4mill already in the kitty, downing, cole and maybe Pacheco will be moved on for as much as we can get. I think with that we'll try and get a winger (dries mertens for £10-12mill) and either villa on a short loan (ideal) or Garry hooper (£7mill).

I will run a lap of anfield naked if theo comes for 3.5 mil

Walcott will be free next summer on what planet will anyone play more than 3.5m for him?

I will run half the field and with my clothes on as I am a fat *******

Walcott's contract is almost up mate. Arsenal have had a knack lately of allowing players contracts to run down, maybe its worth a punt trying to cash in on their mistake.
We provided Sahin with a more attractive offer than arsenal could dish up, no reason why we couldn't do it again.

It's kinda obvious this page has unnecessary traffic. More pathetic but annoyingly amusing is how limited the knowledge of most fans is, or a mere unwillingness to accept facts and truths even from a better-informed Ed. Now that's unwarranted bias and sentiment. Worse still, how fickle are thou LFC fans that u all yearning for a takeover and 'mega' investment in players, yet same complain about other clubs who wisely invest in quality players and not 'mediocrity...?' Having spent £110m the previous window, what more did u expect? U can't eat ur cake and have it. A little reinforcement in the summer wasn't bad.

Who is gona step up for Borini? Stevie,Sterling through middle with Downing wide?, Shelvey,suso,Ngoo,German lad who's name escapes me, Morgan? Il'd try ngoo for physical presence.But as we all know we should'nt be in this position=pathetic!

I think Pacheco should be used. Can't hold the ball well & is good at attack & does track back when in defence..

Or Suarez upfront with Suso & Sterling for wings.

Chaki

Suarez up front with suso, sterling, downing, or asaidi (spelling) on the wings.
Morgan, pachecho or yesil to play cups and second fiddle to Suarez.
Just support the team and whoever plays.
Borini has been slagged off by half the fans on here since he signed now he's irreplacable to the same pessimists.

MIKEY

I think Yesil will be given a more prominent role in the coming weeks to cover Borini.
Rodgers seems to rate him more than Morgan and Ngoo due to him starting against West Brom in the Cup, I also think he played well that game but I worry whether he will be too weak to lead the line alone.

Club hoping to finalise Carrolls deal to West ham in Jan and add the fee to Rodger' £20m transfer kitty. Rodgers chasing upto 4 players.

If its true, then Rodgers can add to that quality in summer!

Chaki

We will not be getting any money for Carroll In January and if we do strike a deal with west ham of they stay up at the end of the season like they agreed, then we should be getting £18 mill for him. In the summer.

Assuming we got 13M for Carroll in January - 33M in January will not be as Valuable as 33M in Summer - and if BR and the scouts did pull magic rabbits out of the hat do you think they significantly change the outcome of our re-building season - I'd rather keep blooding and educating this promising wave of youngsters then add before the start of next season.

Jen Chang another FSG great appointment!

FSG are the kings of chaos,their PR and strategy is looking worse than H&G!

Did I miss something here?

MIKEY {Ed001's Note - look up Duncan Jenkins, seems Chang has done something that he was known for prior to taking the job and got all vindictive. It was a terrible appointment, he showed on Twitter that he was unprofessional and incapable of handling people. Though I have to say, I have no sympathy with 'Duncan Jenkins' either, I have no time for the gobshhhhs that make fake accounts and make my life harder with their nonsense.}

Americans are pretty clueless how the rest of the world works if I'm hounest. They have their little bubble, once they're out of it they are in danger of becoming a laughting stock. Not that I have anything against the owners because they have done a lot for lfc, but they are an embarrising bunch.

Do you know if there is any truth in it Ed? Because it seems there's no evidence, except Jenkins' word and some screenshots of twitter/emails that can be easily faked. {Ed001's Note - no idea mate, though Chang has shown a tendency to overreact to things online, so it would not be beyond the bounds of possibility. It is impossible to know for sure, it is just one man's word and a few bits and pieces that could be easily faked.}

Oh yeah, and you need to return to secondary school and learn to spell a few of the basic words.
AnfieldUSA

Ur clueless if you think Americans are clueless about how the world works. If you haven't noticed, bill gates, warren buffet, JOHN HENRY are some of the richest most successfull men on the planet, I dont think they get there by not knowing how the world works. Even at the average person level, only those in the south really don't have a clue about the outside world. Which is like 25% of the population. The rest of the United states basically dominates the world.
AnfieldUSA {Ed002's Note - John Henry's wealth is about 1.5% of the wealth of Gates and about 2% of Buffet's. Henry really does not fall in to the same category at all.}

wats the story with the burak yilmaz rumors?

If we could get him for the reportedly £13m it would be good business as his wages are low so the deal would be good.

BigD

He had a really good last season. Scores something like 55goals and before that couldn't even get to double figures with his previous clubs. I think it's a case of 1 hit wonder and is not worth £13 mill especially in our situation.

12 Oct 2012 13:29:21
Personally I think it's time for Morgan to step up, he might not be the most skillful player but he does possess those predatory instincts we have lacked this season coupled with a good work rate, plus he's a prolific goal scorer at reserve level.
I also think it's time to drop Glen Johnson, as his head appears to be in the clouds. Yes' he's good going forward but his defensive qualities are limited at best. To my mind, Jack Robinson is better option. He's young, wants to learn and has bags of potential...

Your on pills mate Johnson has been one of our best attacking threats this season

Morgan isnt good enough and glen provides most of our attacking play.

I'm sure Morgan will get a chance or two with borini out let's hope he takes them.
Drop Glen for who though mate? I agree he's rubbish but kellys injured.
he might be a good attacking threat but he costs us far too many points with his "defending" his attacking threat does not make up for his lacklustre defending. Not one bit.

MIKEY

I think Morgan should get more of a chance especially now Borini is injured. Surley he is worth putting on the bench if we are ever chasing a game or need a goal, I would rather him be an option than Downing.
Thought he played well against Hearts in his first start as well but hasn't had a look in since then.
Don't agree with dropping Johnson though, been one of our best players this season and thats while he is out of position.

Jay

Their you are again Mikey showing your lack of football knowledge. Ask most right minded Liverpool fans and they will tell you Johnson had been terrific for the most part. A couple of hick ups I'll grant you but he ain't rubbish as you so wrongly and stupidly described him as.

12 Oct 2012 13:29:11
Those that are familiar with my posts will know that I have been suggesting that Gerrard should play up front. Now that Borini is injured, hopefully this will now happen.

If it does happen, I think it could be a blessing in disguise for LFC and Gerrard!

I think he could solve our striking problems. He still has an eye for goal and has an understanding with Suarez that could result in us converting more chances that we create with Gerrard and Suarez playing right next to each other.

I also think it could revamp Gerrard's career. He could re certify his Mr Liverpool tag by scoring the goals that our nice looking football deserves.

Just imagine if Gerrard playing up front ending up propelling is back into the top 4 come the end of the season.

I can see this happening tbh. Hopefully, I'm not wrong

K.Bennett

Maybe on the right of a front 3 or as a second striker but up front?
I don't think so, he was great behind Torres but we don't have a Torres type player he could play behind.

MIKEY

I totally agree with that. We don't have plenty of strikers in the team, and Gerrard has been great when he was playing up front (Torres anyone ?)
Suarez is a deadly striker when he has someone that can deliver a proper cross.

Although he has a great scoring record I just cant see Gerrard being a striker. I dont think he is the type of player to run in behind and he has no experience of leading the line.
I am not against the idea, just don't think it will work. Hope to be proved wrong though if it solves our scoring problem.

Comolli agree's to compensation package.He amount of money this clown wasted is a joke,he should feel to embarrased to accept any kind of pay off.There's more money coming out the managers potential transfer budget.

When you emply someone you take this responceability

FSG promoted Commoli in the first six months of his tenure at LFC

FSG are Clueless and Commoli deserves his compensation package, if you employ a dud there is always consequences

Why did Roman not emply Commoli

Why did Wenger get rid of Commoli

Why did FSG employ him

Think about it
Sour Puss

Worth remembering KD waved his rights

To be fair to comolli,he only ever went after the players kenny wanted.I read somewhere that comolli was in talks with mata,but kenny insisted on downing instead.Dont blame it all on comolli,and let kenny off the hook.

You mean the guy who got £50m for Torres?
Net spend of all players in the region of £50m to end up with a squad that got first silverware un years and European football and eighth place...How much do you think BR will have to spend net to get the same?

Compare with current position and little possibility of European football next season, given BR has left the club with one recognised striker. Having spent over £30m already net £22m. and still hasn't resolved the only issue remaining from last season which was to strengthen striking options.

What a mess. And that's progress? Jmac

Kenny spent about £110 million. Forget the net spend as it is distorted due to the £50 million for Torres. If you gave Rodgers £110 million we would make the top 4. Kenny wasted the money on dross, and we are still picking up the pieces for it.

What 50mil for torres? we should have got more from the chavs, what about 35 on andy and making newcastle stable and rich, BR with 110 mil will win the league as well as have a core for the next 10 years
Red 316

Kenny did not 'waive his rights'. This was debunked months ago in the Echo.

Net spend is totally irrelevant. Look at the value of those players today. What do you think happens to the loss of value? Someone has to bear the loss. It's not aa case of ripping up the paper and starting again. We have got rid of Torres for nothing effectively.

Any one with a scintilla of knowledge about football knew DC was a disaster waiting to happen and this has been the biggest single failing of FSG and I for one am glad if they are learning the lesson. My hope is that they appoint a Uk based CEO with the authority to make decisions and commitments.

Barrym

When he comes back from suspension, I would like to see Jonjo Shelvey playing up front, or in a 'false number 9.' He seems to be improving on his finishing, and would also provide some sort of aerial threat. He is also used to playing in the centre of the pitch, so therefore he may not move out wide as much. This would mean that Suarez and Sterling could play either side of him. It would also mean that when defending we could have 4 midfielders in a diamond formation, flooding the centre of the pitch. Jonjo would have to be very industrious, however if he gets tired we could bring on Assaidi, say, to capatalise on the fatigue of the opposition. We may as well experiment- it goes without saying that we don't have 4 or 5 top strikers like the Manchester clubs.

Would welcome feedback and opinions.

Rafa's Purple Goatie

I think we will still stay the same but something like this, give or take the players Rodgers chooses, but i don't see Shelvey as the solution if anything Gerrard will play there.

Sterling Suarez Downing

or

Assaidi Yesil Cole

BigD

I think we've seen the last of Downing in a red shirt.

Lee73

Same as I said earlier Shelvey just doesn't have the technical ability to be a false 9 or play at the point of attack in a team that plays our system, trying and having him fail at 20yo when he is building momentum would be a monsterous mistake - let this guy build to be Gerrards long term replacement before confusing him with posistions he would not know/be able to play in.

Hi ed , I have just spent a few days in liverpool and was told by different people that a takeover or investment is imminent , this the reason of slow transfers and ground investment . Have you any news
or views on this , cheers {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were in the top ten of net spenders world-wide in the last transfer window. There was an issue over Dempsey - that is it. Hardly slow. What do you expect to be happening with the ground. There has been a statement and teh likely direction is known. I have no idea about what you mean by "takeover". As for investment I rather think the fans naively think that if a portion of the business is sold that the money would go to the club - I have explained plenty of times that this would not be the case. I fear those telling you about a "takeover" or "investment" have been teasing you.}

U keep saying that Ed and its even funnier considering ur a chelsea fc supporter. If you havent noticed Ed Liverpool still dont have enough players to make up a 25 man squad. Maybe they spent money because if they didnt we would of had to start playing the under 12's!

Also i like how my comparison drogba diving in the CL final and being seen as a hero and Suarez diving once after not being given 7/8 stone wall penalties/freeckicks and being stamped on, is victimized and seen as public enemy no.1 wasn't posted on the site!

And if andy carroll goes for 18 mill and add that to the other transfers what would be the net spend eh? (not including the 24 million a year saved in wages in players that havent been replaced of course ed ;)

For the amount of talent that has been shipped out it has left the club to its bare bones. More than a 5-10 mill NET spend was needed. And yes net spend counts! ;)

{Ed002's Note - You have zero understanding of the finances of the club. The club made a loss of £50M in the first year of ownership under FSG. The club made a further loss of £50M in their second year of ownership. You seem to be completely unable to grasp that the owners are picking up the tab for this. It has zero to do with Chelsea and your irrational comparisons are laughable.}

Nobody in Liverpool is saying this.

MIKEY

Don't mind Ed002, there is indeed a takeover imminent.

Oh, and there is a bridge in Brooklyn that I want to sell you.

Some people will never get the message. FSG have made some mistakes but not being prepared to spend money on players is not one of them. KK and DC between them paid way over the top for unexceptional players and like it or not the consequences of that have to be faced up to. Getting £17m for Carroll would be a loss of £18m not a contribution towards a new player. We have a squad of 25 players but only have to register players over 21 so that is a red herring.

Where does everyone in favour of spend, spend, spend think the money is coming from? If it's not being generated by the club through income stream (and it isn't) it is being lent to it and debt is being incurred and we'll be back to the TH/GG scenario in no time. Who in their right mind will sign more cheques for LFC to spend on players with the experience of the last four managers?

Barrym

12 Oct 2012 20:47:46
FSG bought the club and paid off the debt that H&G made, they gave KK and DC 100m+ to spend on players, they gave us an interest free loan of their own money to pay off the 100m in losses we accrued over the last 2 seasons. We have no real debt.

And they get threats against them and their family in return.

Yes u r so right man ayre and fsg and dont forget the clueless 4-3-4 playing BR couldnt see the future and predict that borini would fracture his foot. the only person who could predict future was Hodgson and thats why he bought Cole so that our doctors will be always on thier toes and work hard

Bang gerrard up front!! Hope the owners are have they've saved money and ****ed us over another season! Even an old del piero snubbed us, bet u Owen did again too! We are no longer a big club, and we are slipping further and further behind

Finally the penny has dropped !!

Much love

Oh do shut up!

The owners saved our club. The owners had over £100m wasted by Dalglish & comolli. The owners are looking after the future of the club and getting the books all balance for the financial fair play regulations. Remember that!

Look, I know you probably wanted an arab sugar daddy to invest in our club but it didn't happen. Accept we've got owners who want to run the club properly and not screw it over Hicks and Gillett style.

Why did Del Piero choose Sydney FC? Well, at 83 years old he wouldn't hack the premier league. I think i'd settle for sunny sydney if I was on my last legs.

Owen? Are you for real? Surely he could only have snubbed us if he was made an offer?

You really have no idea what's going on at the club. Just keep reading the Daily Mail for your info. We've got a skillful team that hasn't quite clicked. We've got an academy with many players knocking on the door of the first team.

I hear Everton are doing quite well at the moment. I'm sure they'd welcome your support.

I do agree with Gerrard. At least he knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. He also won't be the liability he has been a couple of times this season if he's stuck up front.

The owners saved our club

Only to make it a midtable one

Would have rather went to oblivion

Spoken like a true supporter - not!

What a tit you are

You T*T think about what your saying.

"The owners saved our club

Just brilliant. Absolutely nothing that you can have a go at here. Priceless. Certainly the reaction that the most "knowledgeable" fans in the world should be associated with. Good work champ. Hey look, there is a ball on the motorway, can you go grab it for me?

Time for gerrard to play as the false number 9?
LeeWils

12 Oct 2012 10:49:51
I agree. This is what I'd do at the moment:

Reina
Wisdom Skrtel Agger Johnson

Shelvey Allen Sahin

Suarez Gerrard Sterling

When Lucas comes back it will make even more sense.. Allen and Sahin i think should start.. Maybe try Gerrard on the right of the front 3/free role..

Lucas is finished

He's a broken down player

Who will never be the same

We need another player to replace him

Lucas has been more times and longer injured than Gerrard look at the stick Stevie gets

My god is this person Friday or something!

This is the same gerrard who has not played near his potential since about 2006 in his preferred midfield role and now you want to convert him to a striker? come january i would sell him and carra.

I have to laugh at the negative posters, they never sign off there names. Go support Everton, that's if you don't already?

There is an assumption that Borini would have been a prolific goalscorer. Unlikely. Kuyt would have scored more.
Now there is more pressure on Suarez.
Morgan will have to step up.

Redstrike

I dont see morgan as being good enough.I think yesil and ngoo are far better players.

12 Oct 2012 10:28:08
Morgan or/and Yesil

You make it sound like it was unfounded because he didn't score that many in Italy - however his goal to minute ratio was only surpassed by Cavani and Ibrahimovic. It's a shame this has happened as I think it was more of a confidence thing than anything else. But you're right, I do think a youngster will have to step up, although I'd like to see Yesil and N'Goo given a good shot too. N'Goo looks to have good ball control, a really fierce shot and has the physical presence to carry himself well against defenders I think.

The answer is suso up front

I thought that said NGOG for a moment

Borini? i think we can all guess who the top 5 will be this season.would borini get into any of those teams.answer = NO

I also think Ngoo is a much underated player. Yes he looks big and cumbersome. But he has good touch and control, good prescence, decent pace and speed. A cross between Heskey at his peak, Andy Carroll and John Fashanu.

Borini, ok he hasn't scored many yet, but he's off the ball movement is great.
Yes Ngoo could very well make the next step up?
Lee73

12 Oct 2012 10:10:35
The only option we have to cover the loss of borini is to call up yet another youth player.I think samed yesil and michael ngoo should be given there chance to show what they can do.I've never known a club start the season with just two senior strikers,what a joke!.

They are going to need our backing more then ever now, so we need to step up and get behind the team.
RB

12 Oct 2012 10:06:20
I know borini hasn't exactly been scoring for fun,but i belive he was about to finally start finding some form.This injury sets him back and also leaves the club in a desperate position,with having only one fit experienced striker.January is still a long way off,with loads of points at stake.If god forbid suarez gets injured what the hell are we going to do then.this season i was so optermistic,now it's turning into a complete nightmare.We all knew we'd be in serious trouble if we lost either suarez or borini to injury,after the deadline day fiasco.There's No point in repeating what others have said a million times now, but FSG, are you watching now? We've got one recognized striker.

FSG dont care,there just a bunch of penny pinching persons,who cannot take our great club forward.

Apart from that pathetic letter john w henry wrote to the fans,they've kept really quiet.It's probably dawned on them that there out of there depth!.

There silence speaks volumes. {Ed002's Note - If anything it reflects the damage done by the abusive fans.}

People who think this will make them splash the cash are so wrong and january will prove that.I see only a loan signing coming in,with all the usual PR crap about not being the right time to buy and all that.Im affraid its sell before we can buy.

I belive they'll do the right thing and make money available to the manager.Simply makes no sense to let there investment(the team) struggle.Let's just wait untill january before we pre judge them on what might or might not happen in the transfer window.

Ed002 abuse was aimed at the owners due the fact we were told a striker would be signed,and this didnt happen.They offloaded carroll,which left us 2 senior strikers.Fans were angry because it looked like we were being taken for mugs again.We all knew(owners included) that if suarez or borini got injured,we would be in serious trouble,as it's proved to be the case. {Ed002's Note - Other clubs only have a couple of senior strikers as well but you don't find their fans abusing the owners and threatening the wife of one. In my view it is completely unjustifiable.}

If I wanted to pinch pennies I wouldn't bail out a club the day it was going t*ts up!

It's going to take a long time for FSG to get a return on their initial investment. Only persons would do what has been suggested here. John W Henry is no person. A man doesn't achieve what he has done by sitting around on his backside all day.

Ed002 what other big club would leave there manager with only 2 strikers?. {Ed002's Note - Chelsea have only Torres and Sturridge. And Sturridge has been injured.}

The fans are the one's who have the clubs best interests at heart.We pay our money to follow the team,we have right to have our say,if we think something isn't right.You just cant go into a new season with just 2 senior striker,simple as that.So if FSG are getting a bit of stick,it's tough luck!. {Ed002's Note - Yeah, great fans - threatening the wife of one of the owners.}

Well ed if they didnt lie and mug off brendan rodgers and every single fan by letting our 35 million pound striker go withought a replacement when we already scored less than blackburn last year whom got relegated then i dont think they would of CAUSED that reaction.

You just dislike liverpool and its fans i have never heard u once say something positive about liverpool football club. {Ed002's Note - What did they lie to you about then? I have no dislike of Liverpool but I do have problems with the so called fans like you - the cowards who see it as acceptable to threaten the wife of the owner.}

Man city have a wealth of strikers,so do united,as do arsenal.Chelsea have flair all over the park,and could probably play without a striker and still win.Everton,newcastle also have more options than us.Why let carroll leave without first having a replacement,seem's as he was offloaded purely to get him off the wage bill,how else can u explain it.The abuse aimed at mrs henry is disgusting,and out of order.I just think fsg arent as golden as some fans think they are. {Ed002's Note - The manager expected a player (Dempsey) to arrive - he didn't. Chelsea expected a striker to arrive but no one did. Just suck it up and move on.}

Chelsea have mata,hazzard,oscar players who are very clever and are able to play anywhere along the forward line.Plus chelsea aint a struggling team like liverpool. {Ed002's Note - The question was about strikers.}

Honestly these "Fans" that abuse the owners and "FSG OUT" "Clubs an embarrassment" no the only "OUTS" and "Embarrassments are these F*ck wit "fans" with really short memories, why don't they see the position we were in.....and how desperate it got...yet the way they abuse these owners is terrible and to abuse their loved ones is sick.

I for one think we will be a good sustainable club, yeah we don't have the mega rich sheikh and I'd never want our great club to really go down that road I think the owners know what the clubs about and the depth and importance it has on the local people, I believe they know how important Anfield is also so it's good that they want to explore that avenue.

I wonder whether these Fans who abuse and make up stupid sh*t would be travelling down to some league 2 club to carry on their "support" had the current owners not come in...I for one think not!

Al

While its not good to threaten the wife of anybody

And whats happened to Henry's wife cannot be condoned under any circumstances

Fans are getting frustrated and FSG should sell up

Under that last 2 owners we lost alonso and Javier Mascherano and replaced them with utter rubbish.Now under fsg we see load's of experienced players leave,and do nothing to replace them.How is this not about cutting costs only.

Ed002 liverpool really do have great fans,but like in every walk of life u always get people who have to take it that one step to far.Threatening mrs henry does not represent the vast majority of liverpool fans at all.But if these fans have a direct problem with fsg due to what they see as,lack of progress or ambition then they have the right to speak out. {Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with "speaking out" it is to do with those fans abusing and threatening the owners and their families.}

There are some concerns about fsg,and like it or not ed002 we will voice them concerns.The only point u make is some so called fans made threats against mrs henry,which is not on.How much money has been saved by shipping all those experienced players out,players that could of done a job now in these difficult times.The simple fact is under fsg we will not challenge at the top end of the league anytime soon. {Ed002's Note - Direct action is what you need. If you cannot accept that the owners have taken a £50M loss on each of the first two years, then you need them out. A floatation with nice institutional is just what you need - a few Far Eastern insurance companies.}

Eds, your wasting your time explaining over and over again, these children just don't get it. Must take big men to threaten someone's wife, you sad people should be ashamed!

Hello Ed002,
with Borini out for several weeks it`s not going well for Liverpool. Suarez upfront but what kind of support can he get from midfield having no strikers on the bench? What happens if Luis is injured? Liverpool may suffer from the lack of striker transfers in August. Hope January will make us smile with two goal scoring players coming in. greetings. tom {Ed002's Note - Morgan, Yesil, Ngoo or Pacheco would need to step up.}

Cometh the hour

Cometh the Man

BR should have the intelligence to play

The "great one" up front

But I know Rodgers will over look stevie for this job

With borini getting injured,we are now down to one fit experienced striker.We have to pray luis suarez comes back from international duty in one piece.The persons who let carroll leave without a replacement being brought in,hang your head in shame,absolutely clueless..

I posted in August. My post read

Bottom 6 after 6 games = 1 place wrong though not because of our abilities but because others have been completely disasterous.

Mid table by Mid season = Still think this is the case

11th at best by end of season = Still think this is the case.

I also said Borini was not good enough and that he is an injury waiting to happen.

At the time I was slated for this and silently laughed at the scorn tht was being posted in response.

Scrap Gerrard? Do one if you think we would be any higher up the table if Gerrard was not in the side.

The problem at LFC is also what I said in August. BR is not big enough and FSG do not have a clue.

This cant continue for much longer. I know LFC have hd some sticky time recently but this is not a sticky time, this is a time where the powers that be should see the product of their investment and realise that it is simply not good enough.

Is there any chance you could use you psychic powers predict what tonights euro millions numbers will be.

Your not right your just pessimistic!

Lottery Euro Millions are easy. Want the numbers?

LFC have far less combonations to work with and in that the algorithm is a little less complicated. And therefore likely to be a little more accurate.

You must be really proud of your luck then. I'm sure if we were doing well that you wouldn't have piped up and would have shut up. Congrats on that.

I agree with redalover fsg OUT i say! they dont care near as much as there belovered baseball team! another hicks and gillet. how can you give someone who they didnt want so much money to spend on players then give rodgers who they wanted nothing!? Rodgers will come good so that bit is unfair understandable with results so far but unfair non the less. Sell the club FSG and let some real owners come in.

To all those " fans " on here who commented on SG to be sold etc , please hang your head in shame you clueless people , read the stats , he needs a little rest and a bit more support !! Get a grip or a new team !! Thick and thin and all that .

Its you that is clueless. how is a rest going to help he has been poor for a couple of years. ask yourself how many of the top managers of past and present would still start him except fergie. managers like paisley picked players on current form and not what they did 3 years ago or if they have always supported a team all there life. this is why we dominated back then. if gerrard wants whats best for the club then he would accept this and not expect to be a regular starter. im not sayin sell him i think he could offer a lot as an impact sub but i wouldnt blame the club if they did decide to sell. gerrard will go down as a liverpool legend but there never has been or will any player bigger than the club. you sound like a kid who has only ever known liverpool with gerrard at the club.

An underperforming Gerrard is still in the top 10% of players in the country - however I think his fitness is waning. He doesn't seem able to maintain performance for 180 minutes a week and I think if we can make him realise that without his pride being hurt then we'll have the old Gerrard back - just not for every 90 minutes. Hate the red-nosed person but look what he has gotten out of Scholes and Giggs - that's where our expectations of Gerrard should be.

I like the way u say except fergie, the best manager ever in the EPL. Stevie G is too good for the current LFC team.

I said fergie cos its true. shankley paisley and clough wouldnt have gerrard as a starter at the moment fergie would. giggs has been poor lately he still starts most games. he bought scholes back even when he is past his best. gary neville was starting nearly every game before he retired but was poor for last 2 years. rios decline has started still starts. evra has been poor for 18 months still starts. im not denying what fergie has done but most other top managers are more rutheless and would of got rid of most of them players a long time ago

Personally think we should play Gerrard in a more advanced role as a temporary solution! Sahin, Allen and Suso in midfield with Sterling, Suarez and Gerrard as a front 3 - interested in people's thoughts!

NS

Totally agree, he is playing way too deep at present

I thought the same or even Shelvey up top. Big, strong, with a bit about him and he can finish. I'd like to see it tried as it doesn't seem to be working as it is.

Shelvey scores from arriving in the box, putting him on the point of the attack would be a disaster, he doesn't have the technical ability to play that role and we'd ruin a very promising player at a crucial point in his career.

a website is reporting Borinis injury as a Scaphoid injury. Thats funny,according to google that is a hand injury,not a foot injury. Do the Italian F.A know what they are doing?

Hi eds . I have just been on the Liverpool website and read the opta stats thats on there . It's shows who has made the most scoring chances for team mates . Who came out on top none other than SG this is the player that a lot of supporters want dropped to the bench or even be SOLD ? . We are struggling to score goals as it is at the moment and some want to take our most attack minded player out of the team . Frank lampard is 34 and is still regarded as one of chelsea's best players . If you get the chance please read the stats after games so people can see how important SG really is to the team he normally comes out on top in most .
I know he isn't going to last forever but at least while he is still playing he is giving everything to the team .
Ps: I am no stato geek just love Liverpool and all that is attached to it .

It's because SG brought the ball and insists he takes all the corners etc, only shows up in so called big games and is a bully, drop him until he cuts the mustard in ALL games.

With Borini out we will look to get in David Villa on loan....£2m plus half his wages

and Dries Mertens for £10.5m

and Andreas Granqvist for £5m

and Quaresma for £1.5m (for Depth)

Downing would be sold for £8m

our net spending would be £11m

We wouldn't be able to sign Villa until January, and even with a broken foot, unless it's very sever, Borini prob won't be out much longer than January at the latest. so I don't see how his injury would affect Villa being signed.

Cant believe what im reading about people wanting Gerrard out. I agree he`s had a dip in form and dont think he could complain at some time on the bench but surely a club legend like him is vital for the ever increasing numbers of youth in the squad to learn from. YNWA matt.

Goals!!! no matter how we play or we dont win! Now Borini who needed one injured, very worried where we will be at Xmas. Principals of FSG future plan fine. But we could be fooked by jan. Never mind Carrol back he couldnt contribute enough 1st time! Get quality or the unthinkable could still be on cards come may

Ha ha, I forget mine every year. This forum is easily in my top 3 most used sites, its also easily one of the best moderated and most fun sites on the whole net. I was just curious about its immaculate inception.
