Guillem Balague knows alot of people within Barcelona and in spanish media/football. (Txiki was ex barca) This is the same Balague that said at the end of last year Pep has decided he would leave at the end of the season.(people questioned him) What happened? Hes leaving. Even in Pep's press conference of him announcing his departure he said he decided 6 months ago...shows Balague is not just some journalist that makes up storys.(thats not the only thing hes said and been correct)

Im not saying hes the Bible. On one side he may know something, on the other hand he may be just stating that Txiki is free and LFC want a DOF (which are both true statements). But for people to state he knows nothing is ridiculous.

king kenny MUST be given 1 more year the man has lived and breathed the club for the last 30 odd years he came in when hodgson left at the drop of a hat, left that cruise ship without a moments thought it was his calling, his time to come home .If anyone knows our club best it is him.Look at the unity he brought to our club when he 1st came back when the club was at its lowest ebb noone but shankley or paisley could have done that.So all you blind, change your minds after every match, part timers take a long look at yourselves and wakeup and realise the grass isnt always greener.Be patient, rafa and houllier were both afforded our patients for atleast 5 years, i think kenny(a living legend)deserves a lot more respect than he is getting. huyton red.jft 96

You're the man,nice post.

usa.red

I've been a liverpool fan for 16 years (am only 23) I've also lived and breathed the club can I have a go as manager?

Steve lfc

Top post the man is a winner, you think he is not hurting after the league and f.a cup.He needs a couple of years, even slur alex is in fear of him because he know's what he is like.O.K he got one up on him with won't what on this year but i bet this coming season we will be alot closer.
A lot of you so called fans can go off and support Man City or somelike Chelsea

Sorry never left my name
Jayo

How many league, european cup,fa.cup etc etc medals have you got.NONE KK has has them all so dust your armchair down and get ready to give your full support to OUR club and OUR manager of choice.fergie won nothing in his 1st 6 years and was on the brink of the sack now look at them.as i said before the grass isnt always greener.huyton red jft 96

We are not on "five year plans" anymore. Moores and Parry are gone.

Kenny will remain a legend whatever happens. Legends can serve in many roles (e.g. Charlton at United, Baresi at Milan).

No need to continue to try to divide fans and put yourself on some pedestal by using opinion on Kenny as some sort of stick. That act has gotten old. Change the record.

Does this man not deserve a bit more respect.think back many years when he nearly killed himself attending around 56 funerals or so in less than 3 months. Remember things like that before people slate him. He had unfinished business here, he loves the club more than you do and if doesn't believe he can do it he will step aside. The man is a legend. Treat him like one
Fowleris

Sorry FowlerisGod

Sir Alex was also a younger manager when he joined United, Kenny doesn't have 5 more years to make Liverpool great again. This is why it makes sense to get a younger guy in to mould a team around his style, instead of buying average English players and finishing mid table.
Kenny will always be a legend in Liverpool, but I think we need to look to the future.

Kenny will make LFC great again before handing over to a younger manager. That makes more sense.

KD transfer list is complete.
Leaked on

Lewandowski or de jong
Belhanda. Susaeta or ben arfa
Elm ramirez or sissoko
Possibility of milan badelj

Looking at loan moves aswel iv heard.
Elia, castaignos and a johnson.

Iker munian is a target though it may not be this season he is a long term target for the club

12 May 2012 23:19:33
I would let the tixi fella have a choive in who he wants to work with as manager start a brand new freindship from both levels so there is respect and freindship there, only soanish manager we woukd probably get is rafa because why wree linked to emery is beyond me hes hopeless. Although manager kenny will be here next season i cant see us getting tixi guy we would be missing out if we didnt get him. Reallt would...

Forget Rafa ffs! He's gone. Look ahead not backwards.

12 May 2012 23:19:20
Ed, i'm confused about all this talk of KK staying or going? Wasn't Kenny specifically brought in as a stop gap for only 2 yrs? Then a more permeant manager would come in?

Christ on a bike you've been out cold for a while haven't you.

12 May 2012 22:17:48
I believe we will sign these 5 players.
Gaston Ramirez
Luuk De Jong
Rasmus Elm
Hamit Altintop
Milos Krasic
With a price of about 43 million.

LFC CCA

Altintop... Really? Krasic ain't much cop either. Continually pawned around by His agent.

We need a goal scorer, but maybe AC is gonna come into his own.

Dirks Engine Room

Krasic is not joining Liverpool, destination Spurs or Chelsky. {Ed002's Note - Juventus will be open to offers for Krasic and Joksimovic has been trying to get as many clubs as possible interested including Lazio, Liverpool and Spurs - and he has had success in gaining interest from Spurs. Lazio, Borussia Dortmund, Villarreal, Sevilla, Zenit St Petersburg, Fenerbahce and Anzhi Makhachkala have a confirmed interest in the player although I suspect Dortmund will drop their interest. There is at least one very influential person at Chelsea who very much likes the player and wishes to revisit earlier interest. Krasic has declared his interest in Manchester United and it is not completely out of the question that they may be interested in him. Fenerbahce strike me as the most likely destination for him right now.}

12 May 2012 22:15:13
ed random question but what city is David Dein from? Seem to remember Shankly building Liverpool on a 'northern soul'.. {Ed022's Note - Google it.}

Couldnt find anything, thats why i thought this might be helpful..

12 May 2012 22:11:16
People seem to forgotten that u have to have so many British players cause of the rule the players we brought were good the season b4 they signed for us thats y we signed them but I think they will come good it's only there first season an wot British player would of come to us who was as good as them the season we noticed them Craig lfc fan

12 May 2012 22:13:10
I think everyone is being paranoid. He was not the only one waving, as it was the end of the season. to me it looked like he was showing his daughter what to do, waving hello at the crowds, not goodbye.

LFC CCA

How about mentioning who the bleep you are talking about first, dude? That helps a lot to reduce confusion.

I take it that you are talking about Maxi, right? {Ed002's Note - He will have been referring to Suarez.}

12 May 2012 22:06:52
I just want to see if I get as many disagrees (and a fair bit of stick!) the last time I said this : I reckon within 2 seasons, Carroll will be better than Rooney. Nick. {Ed022's Note - Well it's a bold statement...}

Two completely different players so I think it will be hard to say that either one is better, But I do think Andy Carroll has the attributes to eventually be more effective than Wayne Rooney.

Tommy Walsh

Still no m8

If he'll work hard and put 100% in I think in 2/3 mroe seasons, Andy Carroll will be as big a player for Liverpool as Drogba is for Chelsea.

Better in what sense?

Naturally it is both impossible to compare them since both have counter balancing attributes.

if you are talking goals, then that is, admittedly, a very ambitious statement. Rooney will still be a 20+ goals a season player in 2 years time (albeit a large number are penalty conversions), will Carroll?

Carroll does a lot more than stick the ball in the net, that has it's own value to the team

I think they'll form one of the best partnerships ever if put together for England.

BthekingB

I've never bashed Carroll before and neither do i intend to in the future, i disagree with your statement because they are completely different players with different attributes. I do believe however that Carroll can be a top world class striker. Since the Newcastle game Carroll has come out no holds barred, if he can keep up that attitude for the euro's he gets picked and players and for next season, he'll make a good partnership with Rooney for England in the future. I reckon he can do it.

Carb

No harm like i love liverpool and loath rooney but you cannot doubt his class, i think carroll has a long way to go before he can be ranked with rooney for a start he needs to start finishing the chances rooney would score blindfolded.

Carrol will be as good as drog was for chelsea

I think Rooney will always be a "better" player because he can also play as a creator in addition to a goalscorer. However I think Carroll could become more effective that Rooney, that i agree with.
KiwiRed

For Carroll to be as good as Drogba, one part of his game he'll need to work on is his diving. Drog gets away with it, Big Andy doesn't

Carroll needs to be moved on.

I think Lucas should be given the captaincy next season. Whats everyones thoughts or who they think deserves it?

Voice of Reason

If we were to take it away from Gerrard/Carra, then Agger for me. Other than Pepe no one shows better leadership qualities than Agger imo, and I'm not a big fan of goalkeeper captains.

DP

Skrtel, Lucas, Agger and Reina.
Should be a poll on the site to decide who. I'd persoannly vote for Reina, because i genuinely believe he'llfinish his career here.

YNWA! (Adam)

Reina wants to go back to Atletico and play for his dads club, so he won't retire here.

I personally doubt it would be taken from Gerrard/Carra, and only Kenny would be brave enough to do that. If Kuyt stays, he gets my vote.

Id give it to Lucas when Gerrard is no longer playing. Bit too soon for him yet.

Carra/ gerrad. If not, agger or Pepe.
AnfieldUSA

Captain Agger & Vice Captain Lucas

Agger if he can stay fit !
He is undoubtedly a class act, plays in the most natural position for a captain, has shown himself as a leader more and more this season. Stand out candidate for me.

12 May 2012 21:44:54
Think we should buy striker luuk de Jong midfielder elm or dembele an winger Moses or Ramirez wot do u think ED

12 May 2012 21:42:40
Eds, would appreciate it, if you could enlighten me as to what this 'monday press conference' is supposed to be about. Seen it mentioned a lot in various posts.

Cheers,

Glanton1892 {Ed002's Note - I don't know of a press conference, but it has been said that a statement is due once the last game is complete.}

12 May 2012 21:41:33
lfc wont sign anyone apart from jarvis and kuyt, maxi, cole and aqua will stay.

deluded fans, sort it out. we are a mid table team now like sunderland, villa, fulham etc....

they are actually more attractive than lfc after the suarez events ......

get over it, we have mid table players.

john

Think you may be the deluded fan to think Jarvis will be a Liverpool player

And villa were nearly relegated

In your dreams son. Go back to your bitters site where yis can all weep over the LFC trophy list.

12 May 2012 21:40:23
There are some people on this site having a go at our owners, and I just don't understand why. They bought the club when we were within touching distance of administration (although that was always going to happen so they could get a better deal). But nonetheless, they have made our debt manageable, they have invested a lot into our squad, they have improved our commercial activities, and have shown they are prepared to make the tough decisions. I don't want owners that are going to throw money at our team like some awful play-thing to impress their mates, only to leave us a few years later because they are bored. I actually don't want our owners to provide any money year on year- I want us to be able to look after ourselves.

I'm sorry for the rant but I just want to give my opinion.

12 May 2012 21:38:55
So it is looking likely that Kenny will be given at least another year at Liverpool. I hope this is true as I believe he deserves it. The results this season have not been great but for the most part the performances have been very encouraging and hopefully with a season under their belt the new signings will continue to improve.

There has been plenty of posts on these pages for the past few weeks asking for a certain ex-manager to take over as manager or DoF and I can certainly see the benefit in giving one of our old managers a position at the club. So how about Roy Evans for one of the backroom jobs?

After he took over after the disastrous Souness reign he got the team playing some of the best football I have seen and in every full season he managed the club we never finished outside the top four. He also worked with Kenny during his first spell as manager and like Kenny is Liverpool through and through. I am not sure what Roy is up to these days but he has such a vast knowledge of the game and has worked with somem of our greatest managers and it would be a shame not to utilise that.

JRG

The end of the Evans era coincided with the end of the pass and move philosophy that has stood LFC in such good stead in the glory era and introduced the direct kick and rush era under Houllier and Rafa.

But now that we are getting back to the old pass and move footy, it will be great to bring him back in some capacity to help re- establish this philosophy and make it permanent.

i enjoyed watching foortball under Evans. A pity we did not win much because of the inability to solve the weak defensive problems.

12 May 2012 21:29:35
We should give aquilani a chance instead of buying a new cm, I think he's a good player if he was given a chance!

Have you just become a Liverpool fan?
NotInTheKnow

He doesnt want a chance, he doesn't want to play for Liverpool.

MIKEY

NO!

KT!

Have you just after 2 yrs arrived back from
The Planet Idiot!!!

Lyndon

He's fat, lazy, and injury prone. Plus he doesn't event want to play for liverpool.
AnfieldUSA {Ed022's Note - Amen.}

He doesn't want to play for us, so that could present a problem. Also he could never hack it in the Premier League...He makes Jamie Redknapp look like Jimmy Case! Rome 77

He doesn't want a chance

WHY DON'T PEOPLE GET IT!!! He doesn't want to play for Liverpool and the EPL. Yes he's got talent know one has said other wise but he doesn't like the speed of it all he wants the relaxed European lifestyle as far as i can tell. please drop the subject,it has been discussed many a time. -McMenemy

Perhaps it is Aquilani who should give LFC a chance.

Perhaps it was Aquilani who wrote the original post

one player who will definitley be back, and thats lucas , we really missed him , who would of thought a couple of seasons ago you would say that about lucas ,he will be like a new signing , and i bet he'll be raring to get back on that pitch.

12 May 2012 21:26:42
I know I might be pushing my luck asking but is there anything more sinister in Pearce's (standard chartered's chairman) admition that he was glad Liverpool didn't qualify for the champions league as the bank would have to fork out more sponsorship? Or was it just poor humour on his behalf? {Ed002's Note - Scary stuff eh.}

Maybe just a joke ehh!!

Ed002, is the poster talking bull or just digging for something that aint there?

There is no such thing as bad publicity {Ed022's Note - Pah.}

12 May 2012 21:17:02
I think we need a striker an right winger thought we out played lot of teams but never finished them off start of the season till Lucas u dont wont change to much of the squad for me sign luuk de Jong an rasmus elm an Moses wot do u think ed

12 May 2012 21:08:37

12 May 2012 20:37:56
Guillem Balague said via twitter " LFC owners have decided to keep dalglish" he is a very reliable source in football and in my opinion i think he is 100% correct,

One; being that very reliable source

Two; all the staff that are leaving may be down to kenny wanting his own pick of staff

And last but not least, kenny through out the season has had meeting with John W Henry and Tom Werner about potential transfer targets that he wants and the clubs need, therefore if they decide to dismiss Kenny there is months of blue print plans for next season just been dismissed

So can we stop with kenny leaving because its an 75% chance he will stay

LFCHero :)!

12 May 2012 20:33:34
What is long term?? I know its not easy to start winning straight away but hearin long term all the time frustrates me. Im not unrealistic i just want my team doing well now, Not long term. sorry for the rant!

12 May 2012 20:04:47
Ozil for 25mill? would free up suarez from being such a creator, and hopefully let him make more runs, and get more shots on goal (which hopefully he'll remember how to finish like in Holland)

He would be an ideal signing.

Can't see it unfortunately..

Lee YNWA

There would so much interest from elsewhere

I am a huge fan of Mezut Ozil, i think it would be awesome if we could get him, but i dont see it bein anytime soon im afraid.

Carb {Ed002's Note - I don't see Oezil necessarily being available in the summer but Liverpool and Manchester United may well be interested if he is - but Champions League qualification being achieved may be a pre-requisite for any move he makes. I am sure that there would be plenty of interest from elsewhere, not least Inter Milan who bid against Madrid to buy him originally, and Juventus. Whilst he had what was seen as a very good season last year, this season has been patchy at best with a lot of time on the bench. Real Madrid may listen to offers in the region of 25M euros or so.}

12 May 2012 20:04:36
Our 3 top replacements for Skrtel are :

1.Mertesacker
2.Hummels
3.Vertonghen

What about new players i think they will be the followings
1.Rasmus Elm
2.Clint Dempsey
3.Luuk De Jong

Shotgun Number 2.... Mr Mats Hummels

The replacement for skrtel will cost nothing step forward martin KELLY

Coates Kelly wisdom most likely kelly as I think coates needs another season

The first Report of this I could find was ..... now thats like saying Liverpool is rubbish, Gary Neville told me!! Both a full of s**t -McMenemy

Vertonghen all day long but Skrtle isn't leaving.

Jpnesred

Mertesacker,FFS?! That slow coach already playing for Arsenal? No, thank you.

Hummels is great, but he won't leave Dortmund to come to LFC because of CL footy.

Hi eds!
I think that Carroll could make a major
impact at Euro 2012.For me a pivot
moment in Hodgson time at Liverpool was the 3-1 defeat to Newcastle at St. James Park where Carroll was a beast in that game.Without a doubt that was the performance when Liverpool wanted to buy Carroll. I feel that Hodgson style of playing could bring the best out of a inform Carroll.
Esna

What choice do they have,
Bent - injured

Sturridge - out of form and only played well as a winger

Defoe - haven't noticed him play for a while don't know

Crouch - he's ok but Carroll is think is better

Wellbeck - my guess is he would play up front with him

-McMenemy

What about Heskey?

No Rooney then?

Ashley Young (depending on formation)

Currently watching the Dortmund-Munich Game

Lewandowski has been absolutely fantastic as has Kagawa.

The 3rd goal was typical Dortmund. Kagawa in the final 3rd slips in a through ball for Lewandowski who nutmegs the keeper.

I havent seen a lot of Lewandowski but purely based on today I'm saying hes got the following attributes:

Pace
Calm in front of goal
Beats offside trap well
Makes good runs off the ball
Tenacious
Defends from the front

All very similar attributes to Fernando Torres if I had to compare him to anybody.

Haven't seen much but took note that barrios couldn't get a game

I also agree Lewandowski reminds me of Torres!! would love to have a similar player to the Torres of old in our team
Josh

Lewandowski isn't a fast player.

12 May 2012 19:43:09
Txiki Beguiristain is favourite for DoF role. This news will be announced next week. Owners look to find someone for this role fast and they want from Txiki to find some good talents this summer and they hope King and Txiki partnership will be really amazing.

I hope they will do really good job this summer. Personally I expect really big transfers, because Txiki is amazing about this job.

YNWA

Txiki would be a great appointment. I think he would be able to bring some foreign flair to the club. Depending on who goes regarding Cole, Kuyt, Maxi, Aurelio(f), Johnson(d), Skrtle(d) and Aqualani and what we receive in fees for these guys will take nearly 26M off the wages annually. Obviously the will need to be replaced for other wages but I'd like to see 3/4 players come in RW, ST. CM and some sort of creative attacker be it a midfielder or off the striker type player.
*(f) = free and out of contract
*(d) = doubtful they're going anywhere

Chi-Paul

12 May 2012 19:33:44
Rafa Benitez's buying and selling was erratic and getting in bosmans and giving them high wages in return was mad. But I always felt a large part of that was due to financial restrictions on him and the club. Don't forget, Rafa managed this club through the toughest financial crisis it has ever been through. Rafa fought for the club and, in my opinion, played a part in exposing the two Texan Cowboys!

This is not a call to have him back, just a point I felt I wanted to make as people slag off his dealings... they weren't always good but not always bad either! Towards the end he was trying to get in quality without having to pay a huge transfer fee - not an easy thing to do.

Am I the only one who has ever thought this?

We'll be forever grateful to Rafa.

I will always respect him.

Lee YNWA

I remember at one point during Rafa's stint, there was talkin of Villa, Silva and Mata but they Texan's would'nt fund it and it never happened, damn shame if you ask me.

Reality Check for everyone who wants Kenny's head on the block. I have seen every game this season either at the game on tv or on the computer and have analysed every result and came to the conclusion that if we had put away some straight forward chances, most of which had hit the bar or post we would have easily achieved the following results.
I don't think anyone can disagree with the following.

Please give your comments

Sunderland Home Easy win 2 points
Stoke Away easy draw 1 point
Norwich Home easy 2 points
Swansea Home easy 2 points
Fulham Away Draw 1 point
Wigan Away easy 2 points
Blackburn Home 2 points
Stoke Home 2 points
Spurs Home Win 2 points
Arsenal Home draw 1 point
Sunderland Away easy draw 1 point
QPR Away win in the bag 3 points
Wigan Home win in bag 3 points
Villa Home easy win 2 points
West Brom Home easy win 3 points

Total league tally 77 points 10 points above Arsenal, with the league cup a great season

Ridiculous post. Easy points?

What you have pointed out , is what I do privately every year

Ridiculous post! when we had 18 chances on goal 65% of possession and the opposition had 2 chances on goal and scored both and won, now thats ridiculous.

If my auntie was a man she'd be my uncle! Ifs, buts and maybes...... Rome 77

This post is stupid!! I don't really care about what if we haven't been good enough to get top four, I totally blame Kenny for this we needed a goal getter but all we got was midfielders. We need fire power and a RW but we'll most likely end up with with a few keepers.

Yeah, if we had a perfect home record, we would be top 2...

Used the search function and the Eds seem quite quiet on the Skrtel matter. Does this mean you guys have no info on its validity or is it true and you don't want to cause mass panic on the site? I personally don't want him to leave but it would be pretty s**tty for him to have one stand out season and get too big for his boots.

RedNB

To be fair he's had a lot of stand out seasons for us and I suspect he could easily have bailed out at any point over the last few years if he really wanted to. He didn't, and I think he deserves a lot of respect from all LFC fans.

No he hasn't it's only this season he's been stand out defender!
He was a liability alot of the time previous
rushing into tackles and been dragged out of position
What are you on!!!!

Lyndon

Most likely due to the fact nobody seems to be able to spell his name ?

Ed do you think the Swansea game might affect Kks position in Liverpool fc. {Ed002's Note - No.}

12 May 2012 19:05:48
Since seeing themselves in mid table lfc supporters have become cheap minded...Instead of cavani, falcao, hulk supporters are wishing english garbage...And if kenny stays 1 day liverpool will be relagated(mark my word) we are compared with mid table teams..We have lost our pride since depature of benitez..Under him we were a threaten team..We have neva missed a single CL season Under him...Still i cnt undestand why u want likes of defoe, bent, sigurdson etc at anfield..Why cant we go for falcao, muniain, kroos .?? YNWA

Wake up mate, we are mid table team,a part from Suarez which of our players will fit in to 1st 11 of top 4 clubs

You were doing well till you mentioned kroos, a 22 year old german lad getting a game for the european champions elect. british players are preferable because they have a good attitude and won't have their heads turned by real and barca. i would welcome jarvis, sinclair and allen because they would want to play for us

Mr no name...

Top four clubs?

Ok: Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas & Gerrard would get in the aforementioned teams...along with Suarez.

Lee YNWA

Carrol too and johnson he is England's right back ahead of walker Richards jones smalling

Reina! Hi's been uwfull this season, skertel ok, arger and gerrard are part time players, Lucas late hope will be the same.

Reina (better than De Gea, Schezney and Friedel), Johnson (Seeing as United don't have a great RB he would fit), Skrtel & Agger (together are amazing), Enrique (better than Clichy, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Kieran Gibbs and in my opinion Evra), Lucas (enough said) , Gerrard (still would walk into most teams, despite dip in form), Suarez (apart from United would walk into most teams, not because United are too good btw, just because of Evra, Rio etc)

12 May 2012 19:01:37
Macca, Eds

Just one question, how do you currently see the state of LFC? I know things couldn't get much worse than under H&G but there still seems to be some controversy every week. I know the papers love to jump on our back at the first opportunity and that's why I don't buy them anymore. I want to believe that FSG will get us back challenging for major honours again in the long term but over the last few years I've struggled to keep the faith. It's not easy being a die hard LFC fan. So I would appreciate just you opinions on how the club is fairing at the moment and going forward.

Cheers.

Lee.

Off the pitch the club certainly is moving in the right direction, on the pitch we need clear improvement.

Armando

Ed do you think that players like Victor Moses, Lukk de jong,Ramus elm, Gaston ramirez, will like to have more first team appearance, and this factor might help liverpool a little bit more in comparison to other top teams in summer transfer window.Thanks {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

De Jong Munian Ramirez that is all

These three would get us to the top 4

Was watching some past final day match highlights on LFCTV last night and it got me wondering, what's happened to Anfield's atmosphere over the past couple of years? Even in the Souness era the fans were raucous... The trend may be all over the premiership though (Certainly Arsenal since they left Highburry and the Plastics at SB)
- Is it because a new generation of fair-weather fans have emerged? maybe the baby boom generation (majority of supporters) are getting too old to bounce up and down like they used to, or maybe ticket prices are too expensive for the average Joe supporter (hard working balls to the wall fan)...?
I'm not having a dig but why is it not the same as before? whether it was Ipswich or Everton the crowd was always as frightening for the opposition- 12th man is underrated

I know we signed dan smith, was he the only lad from Crewe we are interested in? Was the supposed interest in powell and clayton and garrett just a mistake because we were actually scouting smith?

If kenny goes how many good managers are out there plus you want to have stability at a club

they say the league never lies but it does this year for liverpool and all the stats agree with that

we are only three players away striker winger creative player if it was me de jong munian and ramirez
---------------
I agree with first line but second shows You are drunk my friend so according to you 38 games league table lies and most important of all stats points collected is worthless plus how many wins at home? How many goals scored?

It is no use putting up defence for indefencible and as you most importantly put the most important stats don't lie.

In last line you assume other clubs will stay still but this will not be the case and who says we can't loose our big player like suarez to likes of barca.

liverpool players of what needs to redevenii a force in the following years must meet the following conditions, to be young, quality, to be played in major championships. here are some liverpool players can choose from that,, van der wiel (ajax), jan verthogen (ajax), susaeta (bilbao), munian (bilba0) ibaia gomez (bilbao. subs.) belhanda (montpelier) tello (barcelona) cuenca (barcelona) matias fernandez (sporting) . liverpool must chosen players who need the different positions of these players.for striker have someone who is a finisher for the young to grow around him and his goals. this its my opinion : cavani , benzema, falcao ,/ agree or not

Just watched belhenda best bits on YouTube
He hits the bar more than late eighties arsenal

Cp

Should fit in well with our side then, with the number of times we have hit the woodwork this season

He should fit right in then !

kenny went to mcdonnalds yesterday an orderd a happy meal. he must be feeling sad about somthing do you believe this means hes herd the news hes out? exspect an anoucment monday guys adamlfc

Nice to see your excited about a legend getting he sack??

If he did get the sack rightly or wrongly
It's not something to be happy about

Lyndon

There are many here who are conflicted for them wrong is right, black is white, etc.

I reckon he was hungry... yes, that's my interpretation.

I think he may feel a bit homesick from Scotland and thought anything with Mac could calm him a bit...... went for the Big Mac he did.

First season at Liverpool: Alonso - 24 games, 2 goals, 1 assist. Adam - 28 games, 2 goals, 10 assists. Hendo - 36 games, 2 goals, 2 assists.

Give chance on Adam and Hendo... :)

You left out tackles

To be Fair
Adam as tried the tackling thing
But failed Badly!!

Lyndon

You also forgot alonso was an instigator not an assisting player or goal scorer an instigator and a general, controlling the game not one of adam and henderson has done that.

p.s....this isn't me saying don't give them a chance, just don't you dare compare them to alonso....ever.

12 May 2012 17:15:52
hey ed's is there anychance there could be like a done deals section to the website? think it would be really useful and alot of people could chip in to help maintain it :)

thanks, yorkshirekop {Ed002's Note - It would be rather quiet wouldn't it - a few posts twice a season. So no.}

You make my laugh young man

If Kenny steps down next week, how many job offers from big clubs do you think he will get?
--------------------
My friend answer to that is nada, zero, nil or in universal language of maths 1+2+3+6+8-9+2-5+6-8-5-1=0
I hope u get the crux of it..
But he is still a red legend and will always be till end of time .not good manager though in these crazy times..

Ps-i hope I got the calculations right.

1+2-4Â¥= Plonker!!

The league doesn't lie. Anytime. If you hit the bar 30 times it means you weren't good enough to hit the net 30 times. Liverpool are exactly where they deserve to be.

12 May 2012 16:21:34
Ed's how realistic do these transfer predictions look
Ins:
Gaston Ramirez, 17-20m
Rasmus Elm,6-8m
Matt Jarvis, 4-6m
Eljero Elia, 6-7m
Paoblo Armero 7m
Joe Lewis, free
Outs:
Maxi, free
Kuyt, 1m
Aqualani, 7m
Cole, 2-3.5m
Doni, free
Aurelio,free
Amoo,free
Spearing,1m
Coady Robinson Wilson and Morgan to go on loan {Ed002's Note - All are possible I guess.}

Only ramirez is good enough

The transfer fees of kuyt, maxi, doni, aurelio and spearing are a bit meagre to say the least

12 May 2012 16:18:24
Skrtal wants to leave for CL football what's the amount we are likely to get. And agger has lots of teams ready to offer for him what amount if he leaves.

We won't be selling both. But I would say they are both worth around £12-£17m, not saying I'd sell them for that though.

GLfc

Do believe everything you read?

Agger - 20m at least and skrtal maybe 12-16m

12 May 2012 15:59:03
Dalglish has been saying a couple of deals will be done early and the only person going is aurelio. Do you reckon this is all true?

Well he is the only one whos contract is expired, the others we have to find homes for, so who knows if anyone will take them,
man this sounds like dogs trust

12 May 2012 15:47:25
First time on site not a rumour sorry but just my thoughts on Manager and Team . Dalglish has got to stay for next season + 2 world class players (striker and winger ). That will give us those wins where we have drawn this season, massive points gain !!. Then we can feed the quality youth players into a confident team.

2 of ramirez susaeta munian

lukk de jong as striker

i like soldado but at his age and price de jong represents a better deal

de jong could play as a wide in a front three soldado and carrol couldnt co exist in the same team

12 May 2012 15:45:36
Eds if srktel leave do u think we could get hummels or albiol {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

I prefer Matt Hummel

Rather get Hummels team mate Subotic.

12 May 2012 15:42:40
So what we hear Skrtel off Agger off to Barca? We will be signing Grant Hanely? That has to be a joke right..might as well sign Roger Johnson for 30m then

and Kenny stays god help the team with him

Don't expect any of them to leave, but I assume Skrts might be considering his options [new contract with a wage increase] thus such a rumour

Armando

12 May 2012 15:42:25
Signings We Need;

Ins;
Luuk De Jong(ST)-12 Million
Rasmus Elm(CM)-7 Million
Gaston Ramirez(CAM/RW)-15 Million
Clint Dempsey(LM/RM/CAM/ST)-7 Million
Markel Susaeta(LW/RW)-9 Million

Outs;
Joe Cole-4 Million
Alberto Aquilani-8 Million
Dirk Kuyt-5 Million
Maxi Rodriguez-3 Million
Jay Spearing-3 Million
Fabio Aurelio-2 Million

Not dempsey too old

Aquilani will move for less than 8 million but apart from that, the signings would be class, and realistic too!

You so need to get off your playstation mate

No one has mentioned how we would get 2 million for Fabio Aurelio, would be great to get that for a free transfer

I cant see us getting that money for
those players , i dont think it will be much more then £ 10 million for the lot !!

People keep leaving a defensive midfielder out of the summer signing wishlists! What happens if lucas gets injured again or suspended then we're left with jay spearing who clearly isn't good enough and everyone will be on the poor lads back again. Dennis 89

12 May 2012 15:41:37
Why people thinking losing srktel will be end of the world we could get better CB

Yeah, after all he's only been our best player by a country mile this season...

12 May 2012 15:05:00
kenny is playing the game like all other managers saying no players are for sale to get more cash for them!

Best post of the day fella, well said :) Editors agree?

12 May 2012 15:04:31
Gutted Aurelio's gonna leave. I know he's injury prone and out of favour, but when fit in 09 i thought he was the 2nd best lb in the league

He was and is that good but yh he's injuries didn't help. and we got him on a free transfer.

12 May 2012 14:49:01
Why do people keep cutting and pasting what Kenny has said about transfers on the LFC web site, I'm sure all of us know how to get there.
Kenny is hardly likely to say "we will be selling A to B of fringe players" that would just devalue them in the transfer market.
Lets see what really happens.

12 May 2012 14:46:52
Hiya been told that Kenny had a meeting with the players this morning and following on from that Ian Ayre is making an announcement tomorrow after the Swansea game. Not sure what this means but may be Macca or the Ed's could shed any light on it??

12 May 2012 14:46:13
Just wondering does anyone know which picture reflects the new kit colour best. On the LFC website it looks quite dark red but when you look at the shop picture its quite a bright red.

Personally, I think the best way to see what it is like is the videos they have up.

12 May 2012 14:31:34
Kenny went to watch the likes of Rasmus Elm and Younès Belhanda personally.

My question is, why did he go to these games, if he knew he wasn't going to be the manager next season? I doubt he's going to be DOF, since most of his signings haven't been living up to the Liverpool standard (yet?). {Ed002's Note - He is still an employee of the club and has commitments.}

12 May 2012 14:31:10
Rafa was the best Manager this club has had since Paisley

Much as I love Rafa for Istanbul, what an utter nonsense - haven't you seen what Dalglish won, the team he built with Barnes, Beardsley, Houghton, Aldridge etc , the football that team played ??

Whilst I agree Dalglish in his first reign had the best showing since paisley and built that incredible team. Rafa did win the european cup and build the best team since that dalglish team, and he came ooooooooooh so close in 09!

The Liverpool team of '88 was one of the finest teams English football has ever seen. A bloke called Kenny Dalglish was the manager at the time.

Dalglish inherited his success from Paisley

Why did he not build a similar football playing team at Blackburn then? They were trying to buy the league, so money wasn't an issue.

Why could he not get Newcastle playing that way?

Could it be that he actually inherited a very good Liverpool team with a world class core group of players and added the necessary flair?

I think that's more like it, so it's unlikely that he will be able to replicate what he had here before over 20 years ago.

Football has changed.
Money has changed.
Perception has changed.

We are no longer the number 1 club for players to go to. We ar competing against 6-7 others clubs for all the decent players.
Then there's the fact that at the moment we are less desirable to join than the teams in the champions league or the teams willing to pay more wages.

Yes we have history, but players don't always want to join a club based on history.

They will go for the better money for a start, then probably followed by the current position the club is in (champions league, challenging seriously for the premier league).

When we beat Forest in 1988 5-0 and Tom Finney said it was " the greastest game of football he'd ever seen.
Cloughie also said " we played very well but still got played of the park"

Barnes Beardsley whelan McMahon Houghton Aldridge.

Best best attacking side I've ever seen
Sadly couldn't prove it in Europe though

Lyndon

Their were not Many Paisley players left in the 88 side!!!

How long you been a fan 2 weeks?

Rafa was the best Manager this club has had since Paisley

Jesus H Christos, Couldn't prove it in Europe, we were not back in Europe until 91-92. Inherited from Paisley, Bob left in 83, who are these people who know nothing making stupid statements.

Cork Red Boi

Somebody said Dalglish inherited his success from Paisley? (Dalglish actually took over from Joe Fagan if you knew anything about the clubs history) If that's the case the same could be said about Rafa, because didn't he inherit Houllier's team and win the Champions League with it?

Since Paisley.
You no name Numpty!
You forgotten a certain man called
Joe Fagan
2 European cups
The League cup
The league championship

bit disrespectful maybe not to someone who thinks Rafa was better!!lol

Lyndon

Cork Red!
Couldn't prove it in europe because of the Ban
That's what he was saying i think

Read properly before posting and having a go

Rafa? The guy who couldn't win us the EPL title numero 19 in his SIX year tenure is the best since Paisley? What utter bullocks.

Joe Fagan was a lot better than he was, LOL.

Rafa is rafa and i will always respect him and what he did for the club, he made us respected in Europe again, but best since paisley. No that is laughable considering what fagan and dalglish achieved. I know I am in a minority but i liked Rafa and think if given the support he could have taken us to the next step but fate is fate and we must all move on. He will not
be returning and maybe that is a good thing, we need stability and vision and for now dalglish gives us that. Yes he needs to brush up on his coaching badges and get to speed with new tactics being used now but you cant discount the many years of experience this man has. All the armchair fans can criticise, but i bet he has more knowledge of football and management than most fans could comprehend. I know there is a kenny out campaign but i'm not too sure it would be a good thing to put the club through right now considering the upheaval we have had in recent years. Rafa had 6 years, houllier 5 (i think) why is kenny getting such short shrift, have we become chelsea fans?

slimboy

Rafa was the best Manager this club has had since Paisley

Putting it twice doesn't make it anymore true!!!
No Name again!!

12 May 2012 14:16:46
Good Afternoon ed's, its me again, Ed002 replied to my other post when I asked what position we need to buy players for and said 'A striker and a right sided forward or winger' well I was wondering who would you buy for those position's.

thank you ed's
Red Star's {Ed002's Note - I have no interest in fantasy football at all but no doubt others will give an opinion.}

De Jong & Moses

De jong munian ramirez

Kenny built that team with the help of Paisley

Gday to all of the liverpool family around the world from here in Wollongong-Australia.I stumbled onto this site about 2 years ago, and from macca to/ citings of ken aguero ,it is a great site for all liverpool fans. I have no inside info to share,so unlike macca i should fit in just fine here.Anyway i love the new strip, cant wait till lucas is fit,and i hope we are looking to sign a goalscoring striker/a right winger/a creative attacking central mid/and-or a player in the stevie g mould.Stevie g looks to be playing smarter not harder so he should take over xabi's old spot and allow for a new-faster-hungry signing to take up his spot behind the strikers.Aurelio and Spearing are gone, all players on loan should to told to look elsewhere and Charlie Adam should be warming the bench.Henderson is not a winger and he doesnt have the stamina or thrust so he should be played in the lucas/gerrard defensive mid area. The defence is rock solid and should be unchanged.Downing needs to be more selfish and confident.Keep the veterans maxi, kuyt, bellamy especially for europa lge.Keep the 3 keepers unless a 20mil+ bid comes in for reina.I would love to see a new goalscoring striker+Carroll+Suarez starting upfront with Suarez becoming a provider in the Iniesta mould. Not fussed if kenny stays or goes as long as we dont buy british.I mean, the english squad wouldnt win the premier lge so its time to look at players from the german, french, spanish, dutch leagues.Keep the rumours coming guys and to macca, you are our inside info,so keep up the good work.YNWA

So basically we just keep things as they are then ?

Pity to see neil mellors career end early, I no its not a rumour but just felt the need to say it, hes a top lad

12 May 2012 13:52:25
Kk has said that he is not looking to offload players except for Aurelius cos he's out of contract.
On the lfc website if u don't believe me.

Is this Marcus Desimus?

12 May 2012 13:50:43
Hi guys

Just wanted to mention something I heard yesterday.

Alan Pardew came out and said Europa League helps keep players and attract them....but if a club like madrid, man city, man utd etc can offer champ league it is hard to stop a player going.

Yes you could stop them...but that could cause problems, best to take a huge fee and reinvest.

Do you think Suarez or others could be poached by a champ league team this summer?

ToonFan

Toonfan you can't compare newcastle with lfc is prestige playing for lfc even if we finish 7 or 8

I agree and disagree.

Yes there is a prestige so you will always sign better players than teams around you in the league this year.

Eg. Everton, fulham, etc....you have that pull to get them.

But at the same time how many foreign players now think....i want to play for liverpool.

They will look and say these teams are ahead of you.

Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, (possibly spurs with champs legue football.) then european clubs like, inter, milan, barca, real

All very top players want to be in a side that's in the champs league. And players just below top level want guarantees on reaching champs league and big wages.

Kenny Dalglish on LFCTV talking summer transfers in and out.

The boss has revealed he expects the Reds to be active in the market during the close season - though he doesn't expect much outgoing activity.

"All we want to do is add to the start we've made here," said Dalglish. "With the transfer window opening there will be a bit of business done but that's the same at every club.

"We sit and talk to the owners throughout the season. We've discussed all the possibilities with various parties and been through every option.

"Most of the plans for next season are in place. We just need to get the work done and get on with it.

"We are not looking to move anyone out. The only one who will be leaving is Fabio (Aurelio) because his contract is up.

"The transfer market always brings up surprises but what the surprises are going to be I can't help you because I'm not clairvoyant. But what I can say is that we are not actively looking to move anyone out."

If true then kenny will stay but surely players have to be moved out to accomodate the new one coming in because of the squad size rule ? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool's squad is below the limits so a couple more players could be added still. I really would not read anything in to what he has said.}

12 May 2012 13:40:42
The rumour is - no rumour.

Skrtel story just an attempt by to drive traffic to their site.

Dalglish on Friday -
"We're not looking to move anybody out. The only one that will be moving out will be Fabio, because his contract's up, but we'll not be looking to move anybody out so all we want to do is to add to the squad that we've got and see what happens from there. The transfer market brings up surprises. What the surprises are going to be, I'm no clairvoyant, I can't help you but I'm just saying that we're not actively looking to move anybody on."

Actuality suggests that Dalglish is staying, the only solid departure stories are Kuyt (maybe) and Aurelio.

Through the Storm

Maxi seems a cert to go if you ask me

Maxi may still hang around for another season. Situations and decisions change all the time.

12 May 2012 13:23:57
Hi eds just wondering if daglish goes, will it be a annoucment early next week and how quickly will they get a replacement before the euros? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea and it is nothing to do with the Euros.}

12 May 2012 13:19:33
Heskey re-signing, Kenny desperate for goals next season so he's the perfect candiate.

Mcmanamans resigning ...lol if hesky is

Resigning from what?

Puzzled

Yes about time the top quality striker we need with all the big teams looking for suarez then he will be the perfect replacement, if we can get him for under 30 million that is.

12 May 2012 13:10:58
Hi ed's just a thing about martin skrtel, he has been acclaimed player of the year, most improved defender, he knows the russian money club anzi has sniffed around, he isn't on what some are on at liverpool! Its simple his agent thinks and knows he will want a new improbved contract or ???, its same old same old! Thank's ed's DHH L20 kopite! And ed'd do u really believe kenny will go? if fsg don't give him another 6 months at least! Well I think imo they are making a big mistake! But hey they own, run and stand to make or lose money on it! So we'll see! Y.N.W.A jft96!

12 May 2012 13:00:50
Ed's with what kenny has said "Most of the plans for next season are in place. We just need to get the work done and get on with it.

"We are not looking to move anyone out. The only one who will be leaving is Fabio (Aurelio) because his contract is up.

"The transfer market always brings up surprises but what the surprises are going to be I can't help you because I'm not clairvoyant. But what I can say is that we are not actively looking to move anyone out."
does this mean that the like of cole and aquaman will come back to and still have a future. Does it mean that we won't be looking at the midfield as much as what we though.

Hoping that Luuk De Jong joins his a clas act

Mark the Red {Ed002's Note - I would not read anything in to it.}

12 May 2012 12:59:58
got to admit i think skirtel has been over hyped up by a lot ppl this year i think hes been ok but not outstanding.as soon as agger got injured at wembley he reverted back to clumsy tackels in the box an not marking ppl at corners!if this true about him wanting to leave then someone his tapping him up so lets put a 20 mill price tag on him an throw are name into the jan ventorgor hat!old team mate of suarez and probably a freind we have good links with ajax?
deano mcc

A centre half pairing is a real partnership, it's only natural he'll work better with somebody like Dan Agger, as they can share the workload, and know each others games really well, it's almost like telepathy. When Skrtel play with Coates or Carra, it's just a little different, Carra is slowing down while Coates is still very raw. I'm not saying that Skrtel only looks good because of Agger, but you have to think of a cebtre half pairing as just one player, they need to complement each other, otherwise the better one starts to try taking on the whole workload himself, which obviously fails.

Red7.

Rubbish post ,
5gold stars

Skirtel needs someone to tell him ware to be an what to do!when he played with the greek he was like a headless chicken but to be fair the greek could make bobby moore look bad.when he plays for his national side he looked poor when i have seen him.i understand totally how a defencive partnership works.am just saying loseing him would not be the end of the world.i think his agent is just after more money cause hes been voted player of the year in his home country an has had good reports from here>
deano mcc

Bobby Moore?! Why not say Alan Hansen, Ron Yeats or Sami Hyypia?

Skrtel is a quality player. It would be a shame if he left and we would prob replace him with Scott Dann or some other avg player.

If he wants an improved contract, give it to him. If we want to improve we have to keep our best players.

I was going to say franz bekenbauer but i thought some predantic tool might pull me up an say no he was a sweeper!my point was hes good but he can be replaced!if someone comes in with daft 20 mill like a anzi take it an invest in other areas as well replace him with a younger lad!
deano mcc

12 May 2012 12:57:24
Ed when do you imagine we will know whether kenny is staying or going? maybe by next wed/thurs {Ed002's Note - I have no idea, sorry. If he is staying I would not be so sure that there will be an announcement.}

12 May 2012 12:55:24
How long is left on Xabi Alonso's contract? {Ed002's Note - Two years.}

So probably 15mill+ this year, or 10ish next year. i want him back so much. Running was never his game, so it doesnt matter how old he is, I reckon he could go to forty and still be a good player

Xabi is GREAT. But not worth 10m on his last year and over the age of 30.

12 May 2012 12:50:38
skrtel leaving is bulls**t, no source no quotes just bulls**t.

Its a bull story put out by the club to see if anyone wants him., He doesn't want to leave, but they want money for him.

They are looking at getting in a faster CBK, but need to sell better players in order to generate money to buy players.

FSG are a bunch of tight-ass#s the fans shouldn't trust them anymore than they trusted hicks. FSG are more. FSG are trying to sell an asset for alot of money.

The source comes from a dodgy rumour source and printed in the mirror. He looks quite happy to me to be seen modelling the new kit for next season. If that was how he really felt wouldn't one of the other players have been used?

I dont understand how can people attack the owners on such a dubious piece of journalism.
It looks as the season is ending the anonymous fans who moaned about Carroll , Henderson etc. have now decided to turn FSG into Summer pinata until next season when they will return to their old job - slating the team.

Corvin

The first reply to this post is the biggest load of bull I've ever heard.. more so than this Skrtel story!

BthekingB

Turning on the owners was eventually going to happen, unless we get an oil sheik in with billions to spend to buy the league like City.

Kenny will become our new DOF by Monday and rafa will be our manager next season.

I wouldn't bet on it.

I'd bet on it, but only with the original posters money.

Hi eds, not a rumour but do you know if there will be a new away strip for next season?

Of course there will, can't use Adidas now Warrior have taken over can we?

Hope its not that purple kit though lol!! Hope it's white shirt with red trim and black shorts and whit socks. I believe the 3rd kit is black with red trim.

Anything but that sh#te blue 3rd kit we have now.

Skrtel wants to leave Liverpool for Champions League football. I think it is absolutely disgusting that we are not playing in the CL, and years to come, our best men wants to leave for CL if we do not qualify next year. Who wants to join a Euro League team if you can get CL? Dalglish buy some players who can get us into CL and push Tottenham and Chelsea away from the CL spot.
DanielDenmark

Sktrel's been a liability from 09-11. his run in the side has coincided with one of the worst periods in the clubs history, same with lucas. he can go and enjoy CL somewhere else rather than earn it with us

Its just a rumour , but my own opinion is let any one go who isn't happy after all its the players we have who have not won the league or fa cup we need better players to do that . red mick tag

Im not really bothered sell him for 20 mil and try and get vertonghen of ajax especially with suarez

If he wants to leave for champions league. Let him. He's been the worst defender I have ever seen Untill this season. He will not have my blessing.

No messing about lets get Torres, Alonso and Johnson from city and win the league next year... players out Kuyt, Adam, Downing.

Red Dave

Torres? He's awful

Still don't see why anyone would want torres back or adam johnson, just don't get it.

Is Johnson any better than Downing?

Torres is a great player and was good for us but he has gone lets hope we get some one else with the same desire that he had when he arrived and he carried it on for several years.red mick tag

Next season?

3-1-3-3

Pepe Reina
Martin Kelly
Martin Skrtel
Daniel Agger
Lucas Leiva
Ibrahim Afellay
Steven Gerrard
Gaston Ramirez
Luuk De Jong
Luis Suarez
Andy Carroll

Alexander Doni, Luis Enrique, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Rasmus Elm, Raheem Sterling, Jackson Martinez

Reina
Kelly Skrtel Agger
Lucas
Afellay Gerrard Ramirez
De Jong Suarez
Carroll

Yes attacking but we wouldn't have a goal scoring problem. Just play teams off the park.

So instead of 0-0 draws at home we'll just have 6-6 draws. Good one.

3 attacking mids and 3 strikers. I don't think there's a pitch big enough for that many attackers to move around in.

Why would Roma's Former manager ( Luis enrique ) sit on our bench or be a squad player. haha

AJI

Your transfer arent too bad but your team is scary

4-2-3-1

Reina
Enrique Skrtel Agger Johnson
Gerrard Lucas
Suarez Ramirez Downing
De Jong

Doni
Flanagan Kelly Coates Robinson
Henderson Coady
Moses Suso Bellamy
Carroll

3 players in: De Jong, Ramirez & Moses. 40m spend less money from sales. Surely the owners can part with +-30m?

Gotta say,, I'm well surprised with the new Kit,, I actually love it, it's very retro and got that old-style 70s look to it, well done Warrior.

Now all we need is a new Manager for next season to go with it.

Rafael Benitez to return to the club in some sort of capacity whether that is DoF or Manager to work alongside Kenny. Kenny has been singing his praises recently i.e. comments Kenny made about the work Rafa did to set up the academy. Kenny has a good relationship with Rafa especially after Rafa bought Kenny back to the club. Kenny feels he got his 2nd chance due to Rafa and wants to return the favour.

So you want to replace a manager with five league winner titles with someone who manages at the bottom of the league
-------------------
I read this quote from a fellow red regarding martinez and kenny and thought I give my view.
I have already few days back given my view that according to me kenny does not deserve as purely on results to be a manager of LFC next season but since the name is kenny then at all cost he must be because it will be unfair to new man to be again under his shadow.so give him 1 more year.

On the line above from fellow red I can give example of Juve.a giant of italian football they finished 7th last year.highered a coach from seria B Mr.conte who kept aside emotions and reputations of players like delpearo (spelling) and built a league winning team.
So I feel when king is done we should go this way.rest is up to Mr John W henry.we all are just humble fans.
Red indian

This is my view (not to the poster but to the original comment)-He is a 38 year old, and manages Wigan you expect him to win the league with Wigan, and for a manager without a glorious playing career will not get to manager a top club anyway, and yeah IF Kenny managed Wigan they will be bottom in the past 3 seasons

Worth noting though that Conte is a Juventus legend having been a stalwart at there club since the 90's - so fair to say the decision to appoint him may have been based on more than just record as manager.

SMc

The logic of hiring someone because they have more titles from the past implies clubs should be desperately outbidding each other to hire Trappatoni and Capello. Clearly doesn't work that way, does it? If Kenny steps down next week, how many job offers from big clubs do you think he will get?

"a manager without a glorious playing career will not get to manager a top club anyway"

You need to look up a certain Alex Ferguson and a certain Jose Mourinho - amongst many others.

12 May 2012 11:15:38
Why don't we just go for rijkaard as manager and txiki as DOF? Both world class, in their respective roles, and seemingly available, More of a rhetorical question really...

I finally understand why everyone hates Stan Collymore.

The point about Ian Cotton and the stadium makes sense but the rest of this interview makes me want to throw up. Get rid of pass and move? The point about Liverpool not making an effort globally what planet is this guy on? Was it only last month the UN decided to work with LFC for charity work in Africa ( I think ) when they had the choice of any other club worldwide?

No wonder they call it talksh**e. I still love andy gray though.

Personally I feel that if Aquilani was to come back and we don't manage to sell him, I feel that the best thing to do would be to welcome him with open arms. I understand that he has supposed problems in terms of 'training' and 'effort' but there is no doubting he does have talent and ability, and would make a valuable squad player, just saying.
Favlar

I disagree he did have talent he is fat and lazy and doesn't want to play for our team so why would we greet him with open arms and settle for him.

He doesnt want to play for Liverpool.

MIKEY

Aquilani is a lost cause, frankly.
We NEED to stop gambling on bringing in injured players and, personally, I wouldn't even look at Italy for buys. Germany, Spain and Holland would be my choice if we are to take "the Foreign route".
We've lost big on Aquilani and need to either sell him at a loss or let his sulky fat apse rot in the reserves instead of paying his wages for some Italian team to reap the benefit of his limited talents.

I can 100% confirm that Kenny may or may not step down this weekend and may or may not take a role higher up within the club. there is a strong possibility that some players will come in and some players may leave. the club could spend anywhere from 5 to 100 million pound on players.
Mark my words all of this will be confirmed soon

Does anyone know what these rules are for homegrown players by this I mean what is the minimum? Is something coming into play from the league? {Ed002's Note - Clubs cannot name more than 17 non-home grown players in a 25 man squad.}

Ed, surely you mean clubs cannot name less than 17 homegrowns? {Ed002's Note - No, I meant what I said.}

Hey guys, a young Reds supporter here. Could any of the more experienced supporters explain what 'The Boot Room' concept is? I could have Googled it but preferred to hear from fellow Reds itself. And also why, if it was/has been discontinued. Sorry if it sounds a li'l foolish but then anyways.
Thanks guys,
sama491

The boot room was exactly that,a room where they kept the players boots ,it gained legendary status when the coaching staff sir bob Paisley ,ronnie moran,Joe fagan ,Roy Evans ,Reuben bennett and other wise owls used to retreat there to discuss tactics ,players and theorise on the game .It was a sign of respect if an opposing manager was invited into the boot room for a post match drink ,although usually they would be unwittingly relieved of any info that could benefit the reds ,one reason that cloughie wouldn't accept an invite. Hope that helps bud ,Simmo71

Also the boot room was taken out when the PL started and is now used for the press room. Rafa Benitez brought it back and it is located in the home dressing room. Rafa is all about history and believes in keeping what was true to us, he even made the new signings watch endless Dvds of past history so everyone was aware ofe what the club stood for

Why does everyone think carra will be a great coach and manager?

Just because he's scouse and watches serie a on espn?

No wonder were average these days!

Cp

I dont understand it meself we have kenny, a top coach/manager who is also a club legend and he gets stick when people want carragher to come in ?
derryred

Do you know this lad? You would be shocked and frightened of this lad's knowledge of football. He's a leader on the pitch also. That doesn't necessarily suggest that I back him as my beloved clubs manager but that it's always a possibility. It's got nothing to do with 'scouse' but that of many years loyalty and a true understanding of the club. He's been there and seen it all at Liverpool F.C. I guarantee he will stay on at the club.

DaveyBootle

Its cus he can shout really loud I think.

Square tomato

Its cus he certainly won't be getting a job with Sky as apundit

Andy in Middlesex

Within the football word it is widely know that two of the most knowledgeable people on football matters are Carra and alonso , and carra has always been a leader on the pitch would he make a good coach IMO he would but i would let him learn at reserve level first

The fact that he has been the clubs most consistent player for the last decade and his loyalty to the club, its fans and the city is probably enough to warrant him being suggested as a coach.

He has also been at the top of his game for such a lengthy time not through natural ability and skill but discipline, hard work and thought. The things that can actually be coached.

Personally I think he would be a great person to have coaching at the club. Maybe start him off with the youngsters and then monitor his progression.

Some of the disrespect being shown to Carra on this site is shocking. It wasn't long ago we used to dream of a team of Carraghers. Age has caught up with him that is all, show him the respect he deserves or we risk alienating such a loyal servant.

Long live the king

Lol Square tomato
k-h

Has he got his coaching badges yet?

Carra is considered a pupil of the game, lives and breaths it.
i would not be surprised to see carra vs g neville in the opposing lfc/man utd dugouts pitting their educations against eachother in the future.

Carra is part of the problem we have at LFC. Overrated average player with too much say in the dressing room because he is scouse. When him and Gerrard are finally gone LFC can start rebuilding.

What makes me chuckle is that we had loads of posters saying ''the club must look forward, leave our past behind" blah blah blah.
Now a 1950's style retro kit has come out, and everyone's loving it !
The Real KB

Probably the same posters that want Rafa back.

I think the new kit is amazing!

Tristan

12 May 2012 09:06:32
Hi Ed
I don't understand what all the fuss is about the new kit. What's more important is who's wearing it. If a pub team wore it it wouldn't make them a premier league team.

I disagree. It is important to the club that we have a distinctive, classy kit. How you look affects image, and morale.

The identikit Adidas c%&p we were wearing needed to go.

12 May 2012 08:53:33
I hope kenny gets one more season and wins the league. Even if it's just to shove a pie in the face of many idiotic fans on here.

And all the fans you've labelled idiotic would heartily be called fools if we won the league!

Mate if you think Kenny and this Liverpool team we have now is anywhere close to winning the league,, then its you who's the idiot

Without new owners we prob will never win the league again. With a few quality players in we could maybe be close for top4.

12 May 2012 08:53:32
Targets should be: Luuk De Jong, Rasmus Elm, Moussa Dembele, Adam Johnson,Krasic, Munaiain,Susaeta and a RB and cover at CB.
Carragher should be given a coaching role .
Players that should be moved on are Maxi as he wants to leave,Kuyt as he is unhappy being a squad player, Carroll as he will never be prolific and is so slow its incredible and Johnson as his wages are so high and he is inconsistent and injury prone, and Spearing as he is Championship level at best. The return on these players would be somewhere in the region of £30-40M which would be a superb addition to the £20M we have as a budget this summer.
If we manage to offload Aquilani as he has no desire to be at LFC then another £5-8M would be available and dont be surprised if FSG invest big in a high profile player as they will do it if they believe they can gain a bigger return on him in the future. May 18th will be an announcement on DOF ! YOZLFC

Aqualani will fetch 1-2m maximum. Italian teams know he doesn't want to play for Liverpool so can afford to offer us paltry sums or even just take him on loan again. He is a shocking person and I would fine him for being not 'fit for work'.

Long live the king

Done anything else?

I have to say that I love the new strip. Maybe the fact that I am nearly 50 makes me long for the more traditional side of life plays a part.
Plain, simple, understated yet it says everything about who we are. Love it. If they made one to fit me I would snap it up ! ( and I mean buy it not eat it )

Warrior is a american company so expect sizes that can fit a elephant!

I also love the cleen and neet new yerseys.

Rumours in Liverpool Martinez to take over on Monday and Kenny to go upstairs

So you want to replace a manager with five league winner titles with someone who manages at the bottom of the league

It's obviously not happening, but lay off Martinez, he's a fantastic manager.

Red7.

God help us if Martinez takes over.

Wigan recently have played better football than we have and won games against big teams, Martinez is a fantasic manager n is getting wigan playing offensive passing football he laid the foundations for swansea before brendan rodgers took over(not taking anything away from brendan rodgers) but wigan at the min are like us in many ways A PROJECT IN PROGRESS lets see what he does at wigan first.

After the Everton game, Fergie gives his players a roasting then storms out in anger...on the way to his office he runs into the kit designer who is keen to show him the new kit...

'Sir Alex...what do you think of the design for next season's kit? I think it's the best one I've...'

not in the mood, Fergie cuts him off...

Someone asked how long this website has been around and the reply was 10 years. Who was the flavour of the month back then?
You don"t have to post, just curious.

thanks

Liverpool were certainly in the hunt for a young Ken Aguero but his desire for crisps was a concern!

To consolidate on second place and the recent treble we are going big on 2 future Senegalese superstars (just watch them at the world cup) and the new zidane. He wears white boots so expect the epl trophy finally coming back to l4

Tell Kenny to start cleaning his golf clubs, hes gonna be needing them next week. And not even Macca knows for sure how John Henry is thinking right now about Kenny, football can change in an instant.

CharteredBanker.

I think its pretty clear after the non hand shake and the look on john henry's face that day, and refusing to answer questions about kenny's future or even someone from the club reassuring kenny that he will be here come next season, its pretty clear he wont. Be here. RedTurk

But u seem to know what Mr Henry is thinking right now, don't you?

Oh look RedTurk has thrown in a Kenny out post. Shocker!!

Boring

Hmmm read what i said, just stating the obvious. Are you truly happy with this season? No ifs and buts , it really has been awful in the league. RedTurk

Yes Red Turk, I'm happy with this season - we won a trophy and lost another in a cup final. We rejuvenated the squad and produced better football than anything we have seen in years. We are bitterly disappointed with our league position and return in results, not our performances where we have dominated team after team. I for one am genuinely buzzing as a Liverpool supporter and can't wait for next season when you will have to eat some humble pie my friend !
Derry Red (no ifs and buts )

You are joking aren't you? he just states the obvious!

Macca is not 100% correct all the time, but he has a many occasions provided us with information which does come to reality. As has been said many times, football changes in an instant and he can only pass on what he is told. Hence the term rumour.

To be fair he did announce the Adam deal at least 10 minutes before ssn

One other thought on the shirt controversy, the 96 are on the shirt, not were it was, but still remembered, and not forgotten. The chants still ring out, the cause has not been lost. The memory and the injustice should surely be in peoples hearts and minds and not reliant on a symbol of a commercial product.

GINO61

Are there any other teams in world football who having been involved in tragedy remember those lost with a tribute etched into their shirts ?

12 May 2012 00:41:20
the one thing we know about our transfers is that wages play a major part.

Considering noone knows who is leaving, how much they are on, and how much will be offered to new recruits, any numbers being thrown about regarding our transfer budget are wrong.

12 May 2012 00:39:00
So Kenny gets another year. Guess that puts to bed the myth that 'nobody is bigger than the club'.
Surely even Americans are aware of the idea that when you are in a hole the best thing to do is stop digging.

No. None of us were aware of that. I'll tell all the other Americans right now. Hey, everyone, stop digging. Jeez, I wish you told us sooner.

How on earth can anyone defend Kenny after this??

He insists: "For me, to get a trophy back after six years away, and getting back into Europe at the first time of asking, it's not bad is it?"

"The owners have not told me I'm gone. I'm still here and if you're in any job you're going to do it to the best of your ability."

I'm sorry but he's talking like we've qualified for the champions league, if anyone thinks this is a good season then they need to get there heads checked!!
Dave

He didn't say it was good at all, he actually says not all bad.

This is the worst season in 50+ years so how can he say it's not a bad season?

How on earth can you possibly say this is the worst season in 50 years?! Last season was worse. So was 1998-1999. So was 1993-1994. You're mad.

after watching both Luuk De Jong & Younes Belhanda play i believe that they would be great for our team Belhanda with his defence splitting through balls and has 13 goals this season already and De Jong to fire them home having over 30 goals in all comps to his name. both have been in great form and i believe are a must along with a right winger and a defensive mid to cover Lucas and to replace Spearing

With our new 1952 / 53 season kit just out, can you confirm or deny the rumours that :
a. man will walk on the moon ?
b. world war 3 between the Americans and Soviets will break out soon ?
c. Marilyn Monroe will still be good looking in the 1970's ?

Yours hopefully

A. probably not till the recessions over
b. no
c. depends on how old u are/were.
ps our new shirt is 2012/13, Standard Chartered were busy opening new branches in south, west and east africa in 1953. Cant understand anyone who doesn't like the new kit, appeals to both young and old. (Stanley Matthews liked that year Ed.)
