Ed005 is the best by far! keep it up mate

Obviously a darts fan - knows nothing about football or Liverpool FC.

I miss coming here and seeing us linked with players like Silva, Villa, aguero, alves... The names were are being linked to are good players but not CL quality! We need to be buying players of a similar quality to united, Chelsea and city! Not from the bargain bin!

Danski

I think the main idea now is to get the future stars or gems that haven't got a stupid price on them. But I think a few may be surprised at some of the signings we make this summer, just a feeling.

" Let us leave pretty women to men devoid of imagination."

Red7.

Its all well and good buying decen prospects but we end up selling them to Barcelona, real Madrid! Why not buy quality and help our push! Everton are a team of good players with a great manager! We need better players to go with our (fingers crossed) great manager, I that the only way we'll move forward!

I keep reading on here, 'were not a big club anymore' and 'no champions league for 2 years' etc etc. One so called fan even likened us to fulham for heavens sake. These 'fans' need to lighten up and believe. Look at Juve (yes I know it's controversial, but that aside) they were relegated 2/3 years ago and have come back and remained undefeated and won serie A. It can happen. Now I'm not saying it will but let's imagine we can buy one world class player. Imagine a front 3 of Suarez, Carroll and muniain or ramariz (that calibre player) if we can't get them then I'd say play gerrard as the 3rd in a front 3. I'd say that (if Carroll plays like he did at end of season). Either of those options is a frightening front 3. Remember Torres and gerrard partnership in 08/09. He I feel has so much more to offer in an attacking role. So a midfield 3 of Lucas (top 5 DMs in world nothing to worry about) Henderson (was poor last year but will suit a 433 better. And never gives ball away, will shine under BR more so than any other) and if we buy a forward gerrard and if we don't sigurdson, clasie, Martinez (dream), elm. The back four and gk is sorted.
So back to my original point, to compete do we really need to buy 4 world class players? No, we have 3 in my opinion (suarez, gerrard (if he plays higher up pitch) and agger. With skytel and Lucas pretty damn close. Buy 1 world class midfielder or winger/ forward (nice if both) and 2 more good squad players ;youngsters with potential) and we have a team to compete with the best in england next year. CQ

Well sed my friend keep the faith never give up , let us lead by example , we never a small club to much support across the world , Liverpool Fc world brand
YNWA lfc linc

Do really big clubs go 22 years without winning the title though? Just a thought. {Ed005's Note - No, but they win European Cups and get to CL finals among major finals inbetween. They win trophies inbetween. They have one of the biggest fan bases in world football, they are one of the most famous clubs in world football. It's not all about winning titles to be labelled a big club.}

Any one who thinks henderson is good and never gives the ball away needs to look at him even the other night playing for england he could not get a tackel in

Lfc are and always will be a big club if the fans keep the faith and stick with them ,ynwa red mick tag

Great reply, ED005.

To poster above re: Henderson, you should watch again. Sick of "fans" getting on his back and booing a player on his second appearance...

1. He doesn't dive into tackles generally, and RH generally likes to close down and wait to recycle possession.
2. He put in a great tackle in front of the ref, took the ball on the floor, was breaking but the French player went down and an unjust freekick was given

Richards

12 Jun 2012 23:28:05
Eastern European players appear skillful/powerfull.Worth LFC having a look?

Like Skrtel?

The good ones already spoken for! Don't get carried away with International tournaments. They don't necessarily translate into great league players.

Very true...Baros golden boot winner!

12 Jun 2012 23:19:13
The fact of the matter is that the papers will start recycling old stories or making them up. FSG are fans of the "need to know" way and I doubt little will slip through. Like at Kuyt going Fenerbache, yeah we knew he may leave this summer but in the end we didn't know when or where -McMenemy

12 Jun 2012 23:16:46
WTF is this obsession with people on here about Adam Johnson - we don't want certain players because they are Chelsea rejects, Utd rejects etc - well Johnson is a City reject - cost 7million, done absolutely nothing to justify any increase in value - and people say he's a bargain at 15 million.
Oh I forgot, he's setting Euro 2012 alight with his dazzling wing play and goalscoring prowess isn't he?

NO, there you go, answered my own question.

However, as a kopite since 1959, if he signs, puts on that Red shirt, for me he'll be the best winger in the PL of course - because that's just the way it is.

AJ would be a quality signing...he should be at the euros instead of s**te milner

No, milner is an all round better player who is fitter and understands defensive duties and team work more then AJ, though i lrate AJ, can't help think though that he could be a problems to manage

gareth

He should actually be there instead of Downing. No goals and no assists in a whole season in the PL. Im sure AJ has far superior stats coming from the bench, right?

Red G

Adam johnson has more talent ect, but james milner is much more suited to RH style

12 Jun 2012 22:40:04
any news on the diame situation?......
as i heard he is having a second round of talks with west ham

beglin's brother {Ed016's Note - We were never interested}

Would be better back to lucus plus we could let spearing go
We don't have a huge physical presence in midfield as well I rate him big time

So now people are calling for players who could only make the wigan bench, am I dreaming or have people just completely gone mad?..

12 Jun 2012 22:36:12
What are the most likely signings eds?
JaackB. {Ed016's Note - To be honest, the media are making up stories on a daily basis. I think the first signing will be a surprise.}

12 Jun 2012 22:31:09
Ed, if Suarez is sold (which some of the Eds are of the opinion), do you think the money generated will be used to buy someone a similar calibre or just to fund the transfer window in general? Cheers pal

ToonRed {Ed016's Note - Don't think he is going to go unless a mega bid comes in for him. Of course it would have to be a mega bid to bring in a replacement yes.}

If we sell our big name.. Which big name would want to join us? Big names demand the biggest wages and the biggest games, we can provide neither.
I'm not usually so negative but I feel strongly about keeping Suarez.

Myk {Ed005's Note - And big names value money as equally, if not more than playing football. We want players who want to play for Liverpool and do well for the club. It is not impossible to get players like that who are quality players and have the potential to be top class.}

12 Jun 2012 22:28:34
people are asking for standout performers so far.

manzukic - 2 goals
Dzagoev - 3 goals

and schevschenko -2 goals

why dont we put in a sneaky bid for schevshenko since we may sign kalou... another chelsea reject. im just kidding of course. but seriously kalou has a knack for scoring goals. not beauties but still scores. im not sure how he does it he does nothing else dribbling crossing etc. i still dont want him but still BostonRedBlox {Ed005's Note - Owen knows the PL inside out, has a great scoring record, has experience at big clubs, has a winning mentality, history of winning trophies. If all these LFC fans are using that as a basis on getting Kalou I'm sure they'd be happy with Owen and Shevchenko signing eh? Well said mate.}

Tell you what - if we'd have had Owen or Schevchenko last year we would have scored considerably more goals than we did, and probably Kalou - I think Downing may come good for us - but come on Ed005 Kalou would have scored at least one PL goal - I am not a big Kalou fan by the way, but unfortunately we are shopping at Primark, not Harvey Nicholls at the moment, free transfer, good squad player at least - compare his record to any of our signings performances last season. {Ed005's Note - And put Kalou in a team which was low in confidence, couldn't break teams down well enough, where movement was awful meaning less space and less gaps for him to work in and I doubt he would have done as well as people imagine. I'd much rather we kept Kuyt for another year than sign Kalou - and I'd much rather we give a young player a chance rather than waste millions on a signing on fee and over 60k per week to get him.}

12 Jun 2012 22:09:13
Hey Ed's

We are bein linked to the usual suspects again and its already annoying. Cavani, Pastore, David Villa?? give me a break lads seriously! all your doing is annoying fans and wasting time on the ed's to actually bring facts. They are doing us a service and you are acting like idiots.

First of all read before you write. More than half of the questions your asking have already been answered four or five comments ago. even just use the search function.

Second enough of the pipe dreams! I would love to be able to get half of the players that are said on here but fact is we aint rich, we are not in the champions league, we struggled in our own league the past 2 seasons and our profile has gone down. At the moment teams like Dortmund and Napoli look like a better destination compared to us.

Think realistic please. Sigurdsson is a target who has great skill, passing an eye for goal and a smart free kick. he is also proven in the BPL. The reason we could get him is because we are a bigger club than hoffenhaim or swansea and we now have Rodgers.

If we turn the interest of a big name we can lose it a lot quicker because we cant compete with the big teams financially or in what we can offer in competition.

Our realistic targets who have been mentioned here either true or not are Sigurdsson, Luuk De Jong, Rasmus Elm and hopefully not but Kalou.

Give us and the eds a break and think liverpool.

So ed's..............any news on messi?

Ive not seen a single question about cavani and pastore, most people realise we dont have the same attraction as other clubs or spending capabilities {Ed005's Note - Do you edit the page to be in a position to see player names? Have you read the boards on a regular basis for about 2 years now? Then be quiet.}

12 Jun 2012 22:05:00
Interesting and exciting time to see who BR brings in. Personally i think the names being thrown around are well off the mark. Some of the youth players need to be breaking through this season eg, sterling coady flanagan. {Ed016's Note - I agree with the names being way off the mark. I don't think the media has got a clue. they are making up stories daily.}

I can't wait to see a signing that nobody has mentioned yet, or better yet, a player that not many of us have heard of.

Red7.

12 Jun 2012 21:55:35
Hi eds, you guys do a great job. Just wondering if you know whether or not BR is at the euros? The Guardian had a list of managers who were going and he was one of them, but other people are saying he's on holiday. Which is it?

Red Ollie {Ed005's Note - I think he's back or will be soon from holiday. Not sure whether he's going to the Euros or not.}

I would imagine that Rodgers will have someone at the Euros for him at the moment.

12 Jun 2012 21:44:23
Ohhh nooo here we go again? Kalou?? Seriously have we fallen so low? Chelsea reject? Hardly prolific! I understand we won't be getting cavani ect bt we must hav to hav da worst scouts ever and if we buy a loada players like tht then we're finished!

Its a rumour. stop being such a winer and cry to koptalkcrap who are making this crap up

12 Jun 2012 21:43:51
Evening eds fellow reds , stop with this euro tosh,is there any proper news . Like any news on the team of directors yet at our club . Cheers psv {Ed005's Note - Think it went out the window when Rodgers became manager - but I think we'll be looking for someone upstairs as part of a team.}

12 Jun 2012 21:42:11
united fan here... before you shoot me down, I heard about the abuse the ed's were getting on this site so came to have a look. I honestly can't believe it, this is a great site. I used several times a day so much so it's like a public service to me. Ignore the idiots, they are well and truely t*****s.

I know i will get MOTD fever thrown back at me but really like the look of 2 of the Polish defenders, #2 Boenisch and #15 Perquis, not sure who they play for etc

That Torban Piechnik looked good for Denmark at Euro '92 aswell!

12 Jun 2012 21:28:49
Players that will have to prove themselves next season are: Adam, Downing, Henderson and Carroll. If they don't improve they will be sold. Liverpool Football Club expect better from what these players have given so far

I think Adam will go in the summer meself.

I love how you have put your poor opinion across as If BR has told you this directly...

I would bet anything Henderson is is here at least 3 years.

G BOX

Depends on how brendan rodgers looks at players and stats. if it's based on pass completion for downing then he had an 82% pass completion rate (on the ground) in the attacking 3rd, second highest at the club. also a very high work rate.
as for charlie adam, 2nd highest assists, a few goals, pretty high pass completion rate and covered the most ground of all lfc players up until his injury!
with the club in 4 competitions i'm not sure these are the players rodgers will want to remove. {Ed005's Note - In all honesty I don't think Rodgers will be as hung up on stats as Comolli was. I think that would be very silly. Rodgers will look at the player and what he offers on the field.}

My opinion is that most of the squad have to improve from last year - not just the players you mention. I thought just about everyone was below par for a Liverpool team last season. Skrtel and Agger were probably the only ones who improved.

LIVERPRES

My guess is Liverpool is the last club Jordan Henderson will play for in his entire career.

Hendo is gunna be quality in a few years time

Henderson spends more time sorting his hair out than he does with the ball.

Hi Eds
Love the site, thanks for all your hard work and, as this is a banter and opinions page please could you put an agree/disagree with Eds box too when you comment so you can get feedback too?

cheers
Yorkshire Red {Ed005's Note - I'll put it forward mate, problem is with too much on the website it risks making the website slower to edit, slower to load and slower to post etc. which isn't ideal.}

Hi

Just as a break from transfer talk, I'd quite like to see this season a lot of the kids going out on loan for first team experience - the likes of Suso, Sterling, Coady, Robinson, Flannigan, Wisdom, Samma and Morgan, (I just can't make my mind up about Ngoo - is he just big in that age group or could he have a future?), are in my opinion the most likely to come up through the ranks and if we got them out for a year or even 2 and they got 50-100 games under thier belts, then in a few years time, we could have a cracking squad. Okay our reserves may take a hit in their league next season, but I reckon it would be worth it.

Pablo

Ngoo has left the club.

I am unsure if Michael Ngoo has left or been released. To my knowledge Amoo, Darby, Emilsson, Gomis, McGiveron, Roberts have all been released or moved on!

James Mc

Roberts was quite good. Shouldn't have been released if that is true. Ngoo hasn't left the club but he should. He doesn't have a football brain. He has good feet but he just isn't going to be a premier league footballer. Wisdom is our best player, ahead of Suso who is just ahead of Sterling. I think Wisdom will be a star and plays very much like Danny Agger bringing the ball out of defence. Suso is going to be the next Alonso but hopefully with more attacking intent [a bit of David Silva in there]. Sterling is his own breed. Fast, skillful and can take anyone on. He'll be something special.

BthekingB

Ngoo has skill, pace, strength and is a finisher. and Sama is better than Wisdom at CB and wisdom should play DM because he can pass the ball and is strong on the ball, can tackle and run with it, he is tall for now in the reserves leauge but won't reach 6f1,2,3 etc which won't do him good in the PL.

and suso is more mata positioning wise but has the passing range of Aquilani/Alonso/Xavi.

and the reason no one wants to link sterling with a player is because we hope that he can become better than anyone that we would liken him with.

Is it only me that thinks we could do worse than try and snap up some south American talent while the rest of the world is busy watching the Euros?

Work permits makes things difficult.

12 Jun 2012 21:08:05
Eds, do you think if we move for Sigurdsson that the chances of signing either Gaston Ramirez or Iker Munian will decrease? {Ed022's Note - Yes.}

Hi ed, but isn't Gylfi a midfielder and those two are more like attacking wide players.

How are those 2/3 linked.

AJ {Ed005's Note - Sigurdsson is an attacking midfielder who plays in the hole.}

Sigurdsson plays more centrally and Munian and Ramirez play more out-wide. {Ed005's Note - Munian has played more centrally for Bilbao this season and has looked good there.}

Yes I knew that, but we also need a wide player (Right Side). So how does Gylfi signing affect those two. I know its unlikely to get them because of their high prices and other money rich clubs being interested in them.

But how is it interlinked with a player who plays in different position to them.

Or is it better to ask Ed022 himself since he is the one who gave that opinion. If he is around could he please reply. If not I would appreciate yours too Ed005.

AJ {Ed005's Note - I honestly don't think Sigurdsson coming to Liverpool has or will have any bearing on Munian or Ramirez anyway. Ramirez is being looked at but Man City are in there now that Hazard has move to Chelsea and we simply can't compete with them. Munian would cost a lot of money and he can play numerous positions - could definatly fill the right-sided forward position we are looking to fill in and certainly does fit in with FSGs ilk of player but could we afford to buy him? It all depends. As for Sigurdsson - I really don't think it is a case of Sigurdsson, Ramirez or Munian - one of them. But I think there is little chance of Ramirez or Munian.}

12 Jun 2012 21:03:13
Eds, someone just scored for Poland. Do you think we will sign him? Do you think BR sent scouts to look for players that score at the Euros?

Apologies for the sarcasm, but some of the rumours on here are too ridiculous. It used to be that rumours started about any player who had a good game against us. Now it is essentially any player who scores.

Hi Eds & Reds,

Some fans who come on here whining and bitching why we havent signed or shown interest in any one yet quite frankly have not got a clue. Seriously.

Firstly, Brendan Rodgers is on holidays and is due to return.

Secondly, there is the ever so small matter of a quater of our squad been at the Euros and the manager has not an opportunity to assess the squad yet.

Thirdly, the international transfer window has not opened until July 1st.

Now think about, if the club publicly come out and say we are interested in signing Player X theres a bloody good chance this ignite interest from other clubs and drive Player X's price up.

So please folks, thinks before start whining and moaning.Transfers will be conducted the LFC way, Rodgers will draw up a list in due course. Have patience.

rant over (sorry eds)

Well said fella some of these so called fans don't understand the running of a football club and how and when ttransfer business should be conducted. Most of the squad will be back late this year after the euros, South American qualifiers and even Olympics so patience will be required before the team trains together and starts to gel.

Just wondering that if we keep Joe Cole and sign Sig who we'd sell as we would have Loads of CM's
Gerrard
Lucas
Adam
Cole
Shelvey
Spearing
Henderson
Sig?
I personally we let Aqua, Cole, Adam, Henderson and don't go nuts because I've always been a fan, Spearing, go.
Spend the money on Adam Johnson as lets face it 15m is reasonable when the likes of Downing was 20.
I would also take Zhirkov for LB if available, Boudabouz and Soldado.
Manx lad

Let henderson go and keep spearing???!!!

12 Jun 2012 20:54:17
Of all the rumours, the big names are a non starter, they don't fit the profile of FSG, big transfer fees and big wages are a thing of the past, they will put the club at risk, for example Aquilani, such a big disappointment and such big loss to the club.

Whilst we need a good mix of youth and experience our sights should clearly now be set on younger players that are hungry for the chance to prove themselves and are on the brink of being world class.

These types are players are risks but could bring a financial return should the player move on....

Sigurdsson - great prospect
Borini - knows where the goal is
Kalou - experienced, free, good talent, young and would improve the squad and give options
Diame - young, strong cover for Lucas, free, heart issues, but managed so far, worth the risk.
Craig Gordon?

4/5 players that IMO would improve our squad and add options for us next season, no real risks, 3 of them well known to the manager. Cost around £15/18m ?

Then introduce some of our younger players to the first team

Coates/Shelvey/Wilson - good young prospects, need more starts, Europa League?
Sterling - excellent prospect - needs playing time to grow in confidence and experience
Morgan, Coady and Suso - again need to start coming through to the first team next season - carling and fa cups maybe. They shouldn't be a target for us next season

Cost £0 we already have them!

Adam, Spearing, Cole, Downing have a season to prove themselves worthy of the shirt, otherwise they can go.

For me we need to bring through the youth next season in the cup competitions, we need full focus on top four IMO

come on you REDMEN!
YNWA
Yorkshire Red

9th place here we come

Whilst I think the mentioned players would improve our squad, I think we are lacking a quality striker and a quality winger. There are players available who would come to us - if Newcastle can sign Ben Arfa, Cisse and Ba, there's no reason to think we can't attract players of a similar ilk. Just need to be smart in this transfer window and not buy players for the sake of improving the squad, but players who will really improve the first team

Red Ollie {Ed005's Note - That's FSGs plan - to sign quality but for cheap prices if possible and on low wages. They want players whose primary aim is success with Liverpool. And they want young players with potential who are hungry for success and can be big players in the future for Liverpool and with re-sale value. For example, I'm sure if Liverpool were getting a player of Cabaye's quality for about £4m this Summer, a Demba Ba for free or Ben Arfa for about £6m or a Tiote for £4m they'd be delighted. Cabaye would cost atleast £15m now, Tiote the same, Ben Arfa the same and a profit would be made on Ba. It's astute business. That's not to say we won't be spending good money on player as we have done on the likes of Downing like. But I think someone like Sigurdsson is a perfect example.}

9th place here we come, what nonsense, i accept that the basis of the squad finished 8th, but this was down to injuries, mainly Lucas, suspensions, mainly Suarez and pure bad luck. 4 or 5 decent additions that don't cost the earth will improve things. Bringing through the young lads will improve things. Spending £100m+ on fantasy football every transfer window on fantasy football will destroy us. Get real, we need players with desire, not designer hairstyles

I really enjoy this site but I have one qualm, the editors. You really are a bunch of sarcastic con men, you know nothing, you know that and your awful running of this site and demeanor in comments is despicable. I'm through with this site, get a life and stop pretending you know anything because you absolutely do not know a thing. {Ed005's Note - Fantastic, then you'll have no qualms about being permanently banned from this website. Since we're doing so bad, it'll surely be one good deed we could do for you.}

Nice reply LOL

Ed005 how do you enforce a ban im not right up on computers do you ban his ip or what jut cant see how you could enforce it if he uses his mobile. don't know why he bothered to send that why not just dont come on again surely thats easier its the same as a shop if you dont like it you dont go in you dont bother writing to tesco to explain why you dont go lol {Ed005's Note - If I told you, I'm afraid I would have to ban you. Oj mate, I'm not up to date with the computing stuff myself but I think you are on the right lines mate.}

So Laudrup is set to take over at Swansea. Why would he turn us down and then take over at Swansea? What has happened to our club? {Ed005's Note - He didn't turn Liverpool down - he wasn't offered the job. He hasn't chosen Swansea over us.}

Thats all behind closed doors Ed, We wanted Martinez, Biesla, De Boer, Klopp and Laudrup before we wanted Rodgers. You honestly think Liverpool Football Club, 1 of the biggest clubs in the world chose Brendan Rodgers (Brutal at Watford, Scaked by Reading, OK at Swansea) to be our new manager ahead of that list of top managers, I know for a fact they didnt. Laudrup turned us down. He was told Suarez will be sold from the start, Theres only 20m to spend. So he turned us down, Just like the rest, Sad but true. Im a realist. {Ed005's Note - Yet he talked about how it would be great to manage LFC? And if the basis that Suarez being sold was a factor - he does realise many of Swansea's players now will leave or possibly leave in the next year or two because of BR leaving? Stop chatting rubbish kiddo, nearly bath time.}

Agree with the no-namer here, Honestly cant see Rodgers being chosen ahead of that lot. Hard to see him being our 1st choice. helix

He was never offered the job! jeez some people are daft!

To many e numbers today again

So FSG said Rodgers was their first choice, Brendan Rodgers said he was first choice and turned us down twice before accepting the job, and Steven Gerrard said he was kept informed during the whole process and Was told that Brendan Rodgers was first choice.

But despite all that evidence to support Rodgers being first choice, and no evidence that any other manager apart from Martinez was approached, you know for fact that Rodgers was not first choice and all the others turned us down?

JRG

Absolute shocking some people on here, yes would of been interesting if laudrup had of got the job but he wasn't offered it, only 1 person was his name, Brendan Rodgers, so let's get behind brendan and the lads and support the boys and maybe just maybe the good times will come back

Laudrup, Martinez and De Boer were obviously offered the job. Stacks96 {Ed005's Note - No they weren't. Martinez said he didn't want to work with a DoF and Whelan claimed that's why he didn't want the job - yet Rodgers didn't want a Dof and is now manager? De Boer is happy at Ajax and is not wanting to leave for a while - he turned down the chance to be interviewed not to manage us. Laudrup was of interest but wasn't even interviewed.}

Laudrup's managerial record is nothing special. Youre just bitter because you wanted someone 'famous'. Support the manager, support the team

cozinoz {Ed005's Note - And I bet he doesn't take into account BR's 20 years of experience, in depth study of football in Spain and Holland, the work he puts into tactics and matches, the research he does on oppisition players and the experience gained from Mourinho, not to mention how highly Mourinho rates the guy.}

Ed I 100% agree with you there and as BR said himself, there is always going to be that minority of supporters that will never be happy, no matter what evidence is put in front of them!

Sorry forgot to sign off there.

I'm not too fussed about missing out on Nick Powell, yes he has set League 2 alight and looks a bright prospect, but I'm pretty sure Suso would have had the same impact, if not bigger had he been in the same team.

I just was wondering, any info on whether Brendan Rodgers left Watford on good terms, could potentially be a club we could send players on loan...

RedSG

Ah come on now, Im gutted we lost out on Powell, But in fairness, He's much, much better than Suso. Powell will be an england regular in 3 years.

And Suso could become a Spanish international in 3-5 years.

What and your trying to say suso won't be a spanish international and its a damn sight harder getting into the spain team than it is the england team

No doubt Powell looks to great prospect, but I think Suso is just as talented.

I hope Rodgers differs in his ideas for the youngsters to Kenny, Kenny liked to keep them within the club, but I think loaning some of them out will do some of them a lot of good.

RedSG

I disagree about Powell being better than suso,suso for me all day long once he matures a bit we'll see.

gee man

I think the time for suso to play first team football is not to far away its a matter of mental strength as well as physical strength. The lads passing range is as good as anyones in our first team its just knowing when the time is right for the lad to make that massive step up. hes going to be a top player thats for sure.

gee man

Suso should be in and around the liverpool squad next year for me. Ball retention is everything and the lad does not give the ball away. (adam could learn a thing or two from the lad even if he is only 18)
jonnybarnes89-90

We need to move suso, sama, wisdom, silva, adorjan, coady, sterling, Ibe, mendy and teixeira (trained with Sporting's 1st team for a half a season until January) to train with the first team full time. until they get loan moves. they need to experience the level of intensity that 1st team is training in and need to future develop amouncst the Gerrards, Lucas', Agger's, Suarez's, the cole's and Bellamy's. they all are technically ready and with the new style that we want to play physicality doesn't matter AS MUCH because it will be two touch football you wont give the opponents the chance to tackle you in terms of suso, adrojan and teixeira.

Wisdom, sama, coady, silva and mendy has the physicality there to be developed by the first teams fitness staff.

sterling and Ibe would also develop but look at ashley young, lennon and those type of players. {Ed002's Note - Players under 18 cannot train full time with the first team as they count as children in the view of the FA and are subject to many restrictions.}

12 Jun 2012 20:34:06
Whats everyone's opinion on Robert Lewandowski? - And not just as the flavour of the day, but as a potential partner for Suarez upfront. C'mon guys, don't be shy.

Personally, I think he would be perfect for us - a match made in heaven. He scores a good few goals from just being in the right place at the right time which he seems to have a knack for and is what we crucially need.

He also works hard for the team, this one goal we scores is because he wins the ball after the keeper batted away from another player close to the goal. He passes it out to his mate, moves back in and gets passed in and controls it and flicks it in the air with the left and scores with the right.

Also wouldn't mind Goetze or Hummels either but those are both extremely long shots ;)

Jolly Red

He wouldnt sign for us, United supporter since he was a kid and wants to play for them in the future, To answer your question/... He's an amazing player and is gonna be world class.

12 Jun 2012 20:29:25
Ed do you think Adam and downing will start next season? {Ed005's Note - If a good winger/wide player is signed I can't see Downing start in a 4-3-3, and with Lucas back I can't see Adam starting but who knows? Maybe Rodgers will get the best out of both of them.}

12 Jun 2012 20:28:04
After the Italy match the other night, and how well they played, I'd love to see 'the sweeper' role come back in to fashion.
Brilliant memories of what was then the defining difference between British sides and the Continentals.
Who thinks Steven Gerrard could play as a sweeper until he's about 40 as well !?
The Real KB

He tackles better than Paul Scholes - but not a lot better

Redpath

Yea the real kb was thinking along those lines of gerrard dropping deeper the other day it could add years on to the length of his career as well and i think he would be quality playing their don't know if he would want to play their tho

Hi eds, any chance that blaczycowski could move to liverpool? Surely wouldn't be too expensive unless he plays awesome in these euros? Thanks.
LewRed {Ed005's Note - I doubt there is mate.}

PSG had a 24m bid turned down by Dortmund last summer

I remember him being heavily linked when Rafa was in charge, but as the ed has said, I doubt he would leave Dortmund given the places they're going.

RedSG

Malaga and psg both had big bids turned down last year, Now hes the polish and dortmund captain, won the double with dortmund and if he was rated at 28m last year i dont know what dortmund would want now

So, big surprise (not), Nick Powell has signed for Utd. Good luck in your new career in the Utd Reserves lad, but can't see you'll have much first team football for some time! lol

Slightly bitter, no need.

Why so bitter? We missed out on a great talent, Get over it. The kid is gonna be absolute class. We move on.

He's not the only talented young player in the world or even the country! It's driving me crazy Liverpool fans gettin angry and bitter over the pettiest things like its the end of the world!! Someone signed a player that we were linked with, so what?! A player from league two aswell!! ffs. Some people really need to stop being bitter and start gettin behind the team! Which is what we're meant to be doing, which for large parts at the home games last season most didn't do and the atmosphere was awful and it affected the team!
Get behind them!!!!

Kenny

Lots of whispers Harry has left Spurs. Funny that!

Dirks Engine Room

Not true. Twitter at its best.

Harry is well known to be one of the biggest trader's on Betfair. He apparently made an absolute killing by leaking that he was driving to Newcastle for talks whilst sitting laying himself as his odds plummeted. I'd take any leaks about his personal future with a pinch of salt. Or at least start laying against him to leave... ;-)

FatJanMolby

Aye it appears that way. Harry is forced to say he has not resigned, it is an outrage and something about taking liberties! That's funnier.

Only Players I can see arriving this summer AT THE MINUTE:

Gylfi Sigurđsson £7m
Soloman Kalou £0m
Adam Johnson £15m

Not good enough

I personally think Daniel Sturridge will be signed. I have a hunch that there maybe 1 or 2 surprise signings aswell.

Man Utd have signed Powell from Crewe, his choice I guess.
And can someone tell me who Jamie Kanwar is?

9Red

Liverpool-kop website. He used to be quite controversial a while back. Not so much now.

The Irish Rover

Jamie Kanwar writes blogs for the site 'Liverpool Kop'

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Jamie Kanwar is always running everything down about Liverpool i honestly dont think hes a Liverpool supporter.

gee man

He is an idiot, a fool of a blogger who thinks he knows something about football.

He does not.

He has nothing to offer but criticism and sensationalist crap - usually in the form of some quotes he got on Newsnow which he then twists into some form of abuse or criticism.

He probably tells people he's a journalist too.

A pathetic chap - based on his 'articles' (yeah right!) anyway.

Stay away. Seems like a real git.

If Sigurdsson is our only signing then i'm affraid we are doomed for 7th/8th yet again. How can you expect him to completely transform a team, he's not lionel messi.

These sort of post make me laugh! The majority of transfer activity is amongst players not at the Euros. For example, Powell, Hazard And Kagawa. The exemptions are Podolski and Marin who's transfer were dealt with well before the tournament began. Transfer activity will begin after the Euros for most clubs around Europe! You have even signed Sigurdsson before he has actually done so. Wait and see what happens instead of getting ahead of yourself it's June 12th for Christ sake! I know my response will only fall on death ears but it is ridiculous how fans are already getting impatient in regards to transfer activity.

James Mc

What makes you think Sigurdsson would be our only signing?

RedSG

I really can't see us signing just one player. I personally think that Rodgers has a few targets and that he will be well backed, esspecially this summer/january.
We don't know who the targets are apart from a few media guesses. There maybe a few surprises, he has good contacts across Europe.

12 Jun 2012 18:11:34
Hey ed(s) what do you think of alan dzagoev who will be playing for russia later? Looks a good player.

And did you see the young lad on LW for ukraine last night yonoplyanka put it one way hes looks better than downing fast ,powerful,technical n good feet.

ACHILLES. {Ed022's Note - I will be watching Dzagoev tonight properly again to gain an opinion on him. I don't judge a player on one game, so I've been watching video's of him this season and I watched him last game, and so far so good to be honest. Yes I did see the Ukranian and he did catch my eye, but I suspect he is an average player having a good game.}

I always think its a gamble to buy Russian players. None have come off in the prem reall . I think they struggle with the physical side and don't sometimes have the desire needed. The biggest let down was Arshavin considering the talent he as.

Mighty reds {Ed005's Note - Maybe it's too warm for them!}

Arshavin seems to be a different players since going on loan, maybe it was england that was getting him down, in the national team he is the main guy. Given the captains band and he has really been up for it. He is 31 years old so for arsenal, I think they got the best out of him, but another club at a lower level of football might find him useful.

But I think confidence must be a major part of his game,

Dzagoev at the moment has been in the right place at the right time to pick up arsen passes. So really he just benefiting for arsenals player.

12 Jun 2012 18:50:26

Eds/Macca/Anyone- Are we likely to go out and spend money on a backup to Enrique or will we use Wilson/Robinson as backup? I understand Robinson was meant to go on loan to Villa next season but imagine thats up in the air now with Rodgers taking over. {Ed022's Note - I still expect a LB to be looked at.}

Vargas from Fiorentina.

12 Jun 2012 18:47:48
wish people would stop going on about adam johnson he's an average player with a terrible attitude we dont need someone like him at our club and if the papers are correct 15 million transfer fee and 70k p/w is far to much. we dont need 2 left footed players on the wing a right footed winger is what we need

12 Jun 2012 18:38:47
Eds what do you think will happen to Kelly? He's neither first choice at centre back nor at right back. Also, what position exactly does Honda play in? I recall him being played as a striker at the World Cup and plays mainly as a playmaker but I also heard he's a left winger, centre midfielder, and a deep lying midfielder? Thanks a lot

Keith YNWA {Ed022's Note - Honda is a very versatile player who can play in all the positions mentioned. He is one of my favourite players in the world to date and is a very impressive player with his ability. I do not expect Honda to move this summer though (unfortunately) and I expect Kelly to stay and work up the ranks as it were.}

12 Jun 2012 18:37:24
With Thiago Silva likely to complete his £35million move to PSG tonight, does that leave Mamadou Sakho surplus to requirements. How much would he cost and do you think he would be a good signing for Liverpool ? {Ed022's Note - I think he's available anyway, as last time I checked (if memory serves) he was being watched by a few teams. I think Newcastle and Arsenal were looking at him but as I said, I need to check.}

Last I remember Sakho and Ancelotti don't see eye-to-eye and he has been on the bench more often than not since Alex was signed.

So I'd guess he would be available at the right price should Thiago Silva sign for them, but I would not be surprised if Man City go for Silva

RedSG {Ed022's Note - Well City do want him, but I don't think they'll pay 40 million for him.}

12 Jun 2012 18:26:03
I like the look of Gebre Celassie, currently playing RB for Czech Republic at the EURO's.

A great option as either back-up or replacement should Glen Johnson move on......

What do u guys think?

Thanks

Kam

I think Kelly should play right back.

Square tomato

Phil Babb had a great World Cup once...

We need an attacking right back, he always stops and passes back were johnson passes inside and makes a b-line dash for the through ball. if johnson was sold i'd like it if we went in for van der Wiel. He is available and at a modest price given his contract length.

12 Jun 2012 18:24:21
Could David Bentley be a possible signing, he'd be cheap and scores goal from all over the field.

Are you actually serious? I thought things couldnt get any worse after we wer linked with diame, de jong, kalou, gigurdsson, caulker and moses... now david bentley?

what has happened to our club? Disaster

Steve

Haha good 1

*sigh*

Bentley makes poulsen look good

12 Jun 2012 18:12:56
Hope we are not looking at Elm. Watched him against Ukraine. Absolute rubbish.

So you can judge a player in 1 game, why r u not the manager then we could have a real championship manager team

12 Jun 2012 18:03:27
So Nick Powell has signed a 4 year deal with United. We really missed out on a good player here, Not to worry though i suppose, Because were gonna sign quality players like kalou, sigurdson ann diame

WE ARE IN TROUBLE

Sort it out Brendan

We signed Smith from Crewe for nothing, and he's rated a better prospect by Crewe, they were gutted to lose him.
Bigger picture needs looking at.
PistolPete

You're delusional. Nick powell will be nowhere near the utd first team for years. There's no guarantee he'll make it big at all and he'll have no impact on their coming campaign... stop getting so hysterical.

Rodgers is out of his depth. So is FSG - get used to it.

You don't have a clue who were going to sign hardly any 1 does your whinging about players the press have linked us to why don't you wait and see who we sign before stressing out over it when and if we sign players and your not impressed then come on and go on but as yet weve signed no 1 dont see what's to whinge at

You must be one of those fans that Brendan was on about...... you know.... the one's who are never happy with anything the club do!

12 Jun 2012 17:59:25
the signings that i want for this year

1.Andre Schurlle
2.Sigurdsson
3.Junior Vicosa

They will cost for us 20-25 million euros

Clown , you havnt even seen vicosa play . s**t fan

Come on Ed002 is clearly winding up about junior vicosa he is valued at £100,000 and from Serie B in Brazil. If he did not have a part euro passport he would NEVER get a work permit!

I want a hippo for Christmas

Only a hippo will do

No Crocodiles, No Rhino's

I just want a hippo {Ed022's Note - Hahahahaha.}

He plays for gremio the same side tht we got lucas off and tht douglas costa came frm and tht ronaldinho started at and they are def not in the 2nd div in brazil

Kagawa cost Dortmund 350,000euro. So i suppose their scout is s**t too?

12 Jun 2012 17:56:13
Key 1st games standouts. Ed's any interest in them by Liverpool?
Base on the 1st round of games I think the non big namesť standouts have to be #17 Alan Dzagoev of Russia whos only 21 and #19 Evgeni Konoplyanka of the Ukraine whos 22. Both players are young exciting players with pace and skills that kept attacking and driving at the opponents all night. Ones to keep an eye out as the tourny progress.
{Ed022's Note - Dzagoev is one that is available this November and there are a fair few clubs interested in him. I believe that Chelsea and Arsenal are the only English clubs interested at the moment though, but I'll need to double check.}

Also thought the Polish right winger had bags of pace. Don't know how old he is and whether he can be taught to cross the ball or not. (His crosses were useless against Greece).

RedTed

Thinking about this more..... I also had to double-take when I heard the name Zhirkov from the commentator in the Czech/Russia game. Thought he was outstanding.
I know he left Chelsea but Eds? Has he ever mentioned unfinished business in the Prem league? Wonder if he'd like another crack at it with us? Any thoughts Eds ? Did he go to Anzhi for the money or for game time ? You guys will have an idea on how much he gets paid there. Thx in advance
RedTed {Ed022's Note - He went to Anzhi and is ridiculously well-paid and wouldn't consider leaving anytime soon.}

My hands are up here Eds. Wasn't "Zhirkov" I heard - it was "Shirokov" who I was impressed with. I'd wondered how Zhirkov had moved to CM. Bloody Southern commentators. At 30 years old - I guess Shirokov won't fit in with LFC transfer policy.
RedTed {Ed022's Note - Probably not, although he has played well if it helps?}

coates
diame

Munian would never join us, Diame is not good enough and just adds to the wage bill, and de jong isnt needed if we get soldado is he? Belhanda is more realistic option than munian. This team could do very well next year!

Out come the crazies

Would love that team!

Swap honda, munain and soldado for sigurdson, a.johnson and carroll. that would be more realistic

Roberto Zanzi, general director of Bologna, admitted the club were working on a deal to sell Ramirez.

"We are negotiating with an important foreign club for Ramirez but their offer does not satisfy us yet. The deal is by no means close to completion,"

no offence eds, and i do trust you, but this doesnt sound like man city, they have no need to and have never shown that they haggle, if this was city a fee would be the easy bit, especially if its £20 million thats small change to them, they were going to pay £32 million for hazzard, im not saying its us but it just seems a bit odd. any thoughts?

big red g {Ed022's Note - Why does everyone have the impression that City will pay whatever any club asks for one of their players? They don't believe it or not. They have negotiators and they will not spend a ridiculous amount like they first did, they've won the PL now and only need to make slight adjustments with good up-and-coming players, rather than 'marquee' signings etc, so City will no longer pay over-the-odds for a player, as simply, they don't need to. They may be very very generous with wages, but when it comes to fee's I believe Mansour has started to wise up with everything and he won't be bullied into spending a ridiculous amount on a player, regardless of what the media claims. It is Manchester City, if you don't believe me or the other Eds then that's your problem and not mine really.}

So won't be bullied on the cost of a player but will be held to ransom on wages, oh and above was just a legitimate thought, as in the last few seasons city have thrown loads of money on transfers, we have not seen then negotiate much, if they want something they go and get it, no need to go mad

12 Jun 2012 17:22:45
hi eds, great site. can u tell me plz how Coates and Shelvey is rated at the club? Am i stupid to say both can be world class? specially shelvey been one of my fav talents last 3-4 years, and really hoping he will be given the chance this season, think maybe he is ready for the big stage and can do great things.
love ur opinion to see how far off i am

peace {Ed022's Note - I personally really rate Shelvey, and think he has a hell of a lot of potential to become a very very good player. Coates has shown glimpses of brilliance, but he needs to work on a few things.}

Not sure coates showed any brilliance with exception of one goal, but even then need to see him score a few more like that before i would say he showed any brillance.

However, hope both stay as think both have bright future

gareth

Coates was not played by Kenny very much

That will tell you that Kenny did not hold him in the highest regard

When coates played for lfc each time he came close t giving the opposition a goal for free

Watch ther five matches he played in

You may recall that Ed002 let you all know that Liverpool were monitoring the young Brazillian around a week ago, and many of you asked to know about him etc. www.player-profiles.co.uk - includes everything you need to know on Vicosa and help you understand what type of player he is etc. Thanks all.}

Thanks very much Ed. {Ed022's Note - No worries at all.}

Eds, apologies in advance for motd fever. Was watching Ukraine last night and was very impressed by the young winger Konoplianka. After a bit of research was able to see he played for Dniprio in Ukrainian league and has a £50 million 'buy out clause'. Was just wondering do you know of him, and has any clubs showed interest in him. Cheers for any help.
ravenrudeboy {Ed022's Note - No information from me I'm afraid, never heard of the lad.}

Cheers ed, i know it was a long shot had never heard of him before that myself. He,ll probably play well against england then everyone will be on asking "when are we buying him?" cheers
ravenrudeboy {Ed022's Note - No worries at all mate.}

The other winger looked pretty good aswell, every time he got the ball he did some kind on skill or flick, they both looked very exciting on either side though!

Konoplyanka was mint. Wondering if it was a one off but did look class.

12 Jun 2012 17:09:16
we shud sign douglas costa

12 Jun 2012 16:59:39
My predictions of players who will be moved on.

1. Aquilani - His ridiculous wage will make room for 2 new players and we will be rid of a player who does not want to be at Anfield :)

2. Maxi - His ridiculous wage will make room for another 2 new players. His age also counts against him...

Cole - I am still 50/50 about him. BR might just decide to give him a chance considering that both BR and Cole were at Chelsea.

If these three players are removed from our wage bill it will make room for about 7 new players!

Not saying we will sign seven players but BR did say he needs to add to the squad in order for the club to play his style.

I hope we sign Sigurdsson. Fanstastic young player and BR will without a doubt be on his trail now that Sig is not going to sign for Swansea.

Really looking forward to the new season!

Keep up the good work ed's

YNWA

Max

Caught Off Side announce Liverpool are planning a bid for dimitar berbatov any truth in this one eds? And also were going to try and get some sort of deal done with Nigel de Jong, Adam Johnson and James millner according to Caught Off Side

...It's caught offside... No truth in it at all. Please read the Eds answers to other Caught offside related posts.

Ok, that's N De Jong, A Johnson, J Milner and D Berbatov, they've been mentioned on caughtoffside now so they can be completely written out of any list of targets.

Hammers in talks for Diame I said earlier in month that we had no interest in him. He is
Not liverpool quality and sigurdsson is much more of a better option.

Scouse Ben

Id much rather diame over sigurdson... in fairness, both arnt good enough for us tho

To the second poster, it is strange that United didnt thought so when they bought a player from Wigan after selling Ronaldo, who everybody now acknowledges that he is perfect player for our team setup.

12 Jun 2012 16:38:52
I like the look of Jetro Willems for Holand, the youngest player in the euro 2012, looks like a decent fullback. With PSV, but they would be willing to sell to the highest bidder

Ibrahim Afellay looks good, seems to be lacking the finishing ability, but can beat a man.

Mathieu Debuchy looks like a good rbk, seems very capable. I can see why Newcastle wanted him signed before the Euro's

Y M'Vila looks like a great Dmid hope, I hope liverpool great him. He would fit right into the team.

Andrei Arshavin looks like a different player since his loan deal. I wonder if we could loan him next season. {Ed002's Note - Willems will eventually move to Old Trafford.}

hi eds, what do you know about jesus navas? any good? anyone after him? how much would he cost if available?
cobra {Ed002's Note - He will not leave Spain. Put him out of your mind.}

If one person mentions home sickness i will scream

Navas has issues with home sickness.

Mummy

Does he suffer from homesickness?

Ok now i am screaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaming how do people not know that for flip sake ,

So much so, that he can travel 2 euros, with hours trips between each game.
Mmmmmm, selective travel sick 2 me!!

If liverpool are under rebuilding...
Then why need Gerrard anymore? Liverpool can sell him right now for high amount then later, and get class player...by not only depend on him,they canrather start doing something by now!

Faz

Because Gerrard is a natural leader and will no doubt will be a backlash of most fans if even considering selling him.

Sorry but it seems a tad unrealistic. while age is not on his side he still has a few more years to offer LFC

Gerrard is a legend and I for one wouldn't want to see him play for anyone else!

The days that we would have got 20,30,40 or 50 million for Gerrard are long gone. He will be staying at Anfield.

Why do people seem obsessed with 'big names' like soldado and Cissokho? Just because a player is well known doesn't mean they are any good. Soldado has very little pace, and is really hot-headed sometimes. He's a good player but the is an element of risk with him in every game. Cissokho is shocking, he's fast, can't shoot, can't defend and cannot cross the ball at all. We'd be better signing 'lesser' names with actual ability rather than blowing big bucks on players like Cissokho. Just because someone is coming from a smaller club, or you've never heard of them, that doesn't mean they won't help us improve.

Hi Eds & Reds,

Just want to get your opinion on something, I made a point a few days ago about players having a decent tournament having there prices over inflated. So here what I was thinking , given that this maybe the case , do ye think potential targets will be those outside participating in the Euros. Given that we have signed some pretty average and muck players previously after tournaments ie Baro, Diouf and Piechnik,do ye think players who have a decent tournament may be left until next summer to see if the Euros was actually a flash in the pan or a continual progression of the player that actually warrants the transfer fee that maybe quoted this summer?

In my own opinion, I think it's best to leave it for a year unless the player is really exceptional and warrants a starting place in the team week in week out, same cannot be said if your looking for a squad player

Your thoughts ?

Rebel_Red {Ed002's Note - There are often cases where a club will wait a year before bidding for a player but I really doubt that Liverpool is looking to do that right now with teh Euros.}

12 Jun 2012 16:06:36
Why are we all guessing ins and outs, Rodgers is just in the door.... Yeah sig seems to be a likely signing and that's it! A lot of rubbish posts about age, remember the "young English policy" was Kenny's not necessarily going to be Rodgers! Stop guessing and harassing the eds!
Personally I would love to see a few big names but I highly doubt it will happen...

Good work eds feel for yous at times!

eds is there any or has there ever been interest in the following angelo ogbonna, pablo piatti, diego perotti, lewandowski, pizcek, marchisio and alvaro perreira. And what do you reckon our chances are of getting any of them.

Rays Of Red {Ed002's Note - There was interest in Perotti a while back. Don't hold your breath about moving to Liverpool. Are they doing well on some kiddies game?}

Not at all as im shall we say a bit too old for games I just like the players in general and watch football from all over europe.

If i was Lfc's coach i will try to bring the following players

1.Rasmus Elm
2.Adam Johnson
3.Andre Schurlle

it will cost for us 40 million pounds

If I was your aunty I'd never let you go

Hey Eds,

Regarding Diame and Sig.

Are they likely to be signing for LFC?
If so, any known progress signing? {Ed002's Note - Please use the search function.}

12 Jun 2012 15:30:30
eds, from your knowledge can you please tell me what players we have shown a genuine interest in through the last 3/4 months? thanks. {Ed002's Note - You need to read the posts.}

Highly-rated Liverpool academy midfielder 'Suso' – full name Jesús Fernández Sáez – is wanted by Championship side Bristol City on loan next season.

The Bristol Evening Post reports City boss Derek McInnes' interest in the 18 year-old Spaniard.

Suso signed for Liverpool in 2010 and is a regular in the Reds' reserves. Although naturally an attacking centre midfielder, he has been given a right sided role more recently to improve his development and next season could be a good opportunity to give him some first-team action.

Elsewhere, we understand that former Liverpool assistant manager Steve Clarke, who has recently been appointed manager at West Brom, is keen to take some of LFC's fringe players on loan at the Hawthorns. Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey in particular is wanted by Clarke.

Any truth eds? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea.}

In:
Burak Yilmaz. 5m
Markel Susaeta 6m
Salomon kalou free
Mohammed diame free
Aly cissokho 9m

Spend 20m

Sell Cole, aqua, kuyt, spearing, Adam - 14m

6m spend, much better squad

RedLee

. How do you propose getting susaeta for £6m.
Also, how are we getting £14m for those players being sold. FYI - kuyt has already gone, for less than £1m!

12 Jun 2012 15:18:19
Key 1st games standouts. Ed's any interest in them by Liverpool?
Base on the 1st round of games I think the non big namesť standouts have to be #17 Alan Dzagoev of Russia whos only 21 and #19 Evgeni Konoplyanka of the Ukraine whos 22. Both players are young exciting players with pace and skills that kept attacking and driving at the opponents all night. Ones to keep an eye out as the tourny progress.
{Ed002's Note - Dzagoev has interested Chelsea in the past but Arsenal have shown a lot of interest this past year including sending a contingent to watch him play in Moscow back last summer. He will be available on a free transfer at the end of the year, not in the summer. CSKA want to keep him.}

12 Jun 2012 15:04:52
Why are we being constantly linked with players who will not improve our first 11? We need to improve our starting 11 more than we need to improve our squad.

Downing, Adam, Carragher, Spearing, Henderson, Shelvey, Maxi, Kelly, Flanagan, Sterling, Cole, Aqualini are not good enough for our starting 11.

We are being linked with Diame, Kalou, Caulker, Sigurdsson, De Jong, Moses etc. They are not good enough and willnot help us get back into the top 4.

Reina, Skrtel, Agger and Suarez are linked with moves away and they will not stay and fight for 7th place if we bring in the sort of players we are currently being linked with, They will leave. The 4 of them are champions league quality players, They wont stick around.

Have we no money? I know Kenny wasted over 100m last season but surely we can do better than free transfers for Diame and Kalou? Or is it simply that Rodgers wont be able to attract top quality players?

Chelsea have got Hazard, Martin and possibly Hulk. Arsenal have got Podolski and possibly M'Vila and Giroud and United have got Kagawa, Powell, Henriquez and possibly Modric. While we are getting below average players, Its not acceptable.

Thoughts?

Jamie YNWA

"Chelsea have got Hazard, Martin and possibly Hulk. Arsenal have got Podolski and possibly M'Vila and Giroud and United have got Kagawa, Powell, Henriquez and possibly Modric."

They've also got Champions League football. We don't. Do you see a connection?

Great post, True 100%, The players we are being linked with are a joke, None of the top clubs would go for these players, Im not looking forward to next season at all, Hate to say it but we are not a big club anymore and we cant expect world class signings, Reina, Agger, skertl and suarez could be off. graham.

Simple truth as that we are not a 'big club' anymore, expect signings of this standards for a while i reckon, not looking good for us, if reina agger skrtel and suarez leave and gerrard is probably in his last season or 2, then what? Its not looking good for us. Ludo

Allen, Jarvis and Pilkington would be less pretty but more effective than Hazard, M'Vila and Hulk

Fantasy football again

Redpath

How do you KNOW they are not good enough . Have you seen what rodgers can get out of these proposed signings yet . jose mourinho said of Drogba "don't judge him when he arrives judge him when he leaves " and that worked out ok for the blue spam . These players haven't even arrived and all ready there not good enough . A few more fans turn you your way of thinking and soon we will be the club that once hasd the best fans in the world and now just have bitter dim wits in the stand

My thoughts are you dont have a clue. Theres so many things wrong with you post. I agree we need improvments for the first team most of the players you mentioned were hardly in our starting 11 last year never mind when we bring in more players. Out of the players that were Downing showed in some games he can be good enough just needs to be more consistant, Henderson was played out of position but when he played in cm he played well. Kelly is still young but would still get in most teams above us at rb except city and spurs. Aqualani and Maxi are probably on there way out anyway and the rest are squad players which you say shouldnt be improved on at the moment.
Sigurdsson, Diame, and De Jong all look quality players, just because they dont cost 30m and play for top teams doesnt mean there not good enough.
Yes were getting linked to alot of players some of them poor like Kalou but everyone should know by now every year we get linked to 20 -30 players and about 95% of them dont happen. Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal have already started spending but we only got a manager a few days before the euros. He needs time to look at who weve been watchin and the current squad

LOL at the chap comparing didier drogba to de jong, sigurdson, diame etc. Original poster is correct, these players are not good enough., he could of worded it differently but either way he is right, next season will not be a good 1

greg

Greg hes not comparing any of them to Drogba. Hes saying people were saying the same about Drogba when he went to Chelsea. He wasnt known as a world class player and people were sayin Chelsea were paying alot for someone who isnt good enough. some people havnt got a clue saying players like De Jong are not good enough cos there not valued at 30m most of these people probably havnt seen him play. If a team like AC or Inter went for him and he had a good season you would be saying buy him for 30m

Why not compare Drogba and De Jong, infact, if you look at where De Jong is now, compared to how good Drogba was at that age, i'd take Luuk De Jong ANY day, Drogba was nothing at that stage of his career. Credit where credit's due, he became a fantastic player, but to say they can't be compared just shows your ignorance mate.

Red7.

I think thats the point the original poster is making, Inter and AC Milan are not going for De Jong, Why? Because he's not good enough, Ive seen a lot of De Jong the past 2 seasons and to be honest, He is not good enough for us, Reminds me of Ryan Babel.

greg

Same old story. People want A. Johnson because he's with City. But had we signed him from Boro like City did, there'd be whingers coming from the woodwork. We won't even go into where Joe Hart came from too...

Red7.

Have a look at what drogba did against us b4 he went to chelsea, he turned sami inside out , he was fantastic , lfc and newcastle wanted him but he went to london and since then he has been a great player even though he gets on my nerves with his play acting

I'm sorry but I actually can't stop laughing at "Allen, Jarvis and Pilkington would be less pretty but more effective than Hazard, M'Vila and Hulk". You obviously have absolutley no idea of football outside the premier league if you truely believe this.

E.H LFC

My point with the Drogba thing is that at the time people were saying he is not good enough for chavski rather than supporting there managers choice and backing the player , how foolish those people look now , BR is not trying to sign world class players he is trying to assemble a winning squad . Any player he brings in will not be to impress half fans like you it will be because he thinks it will help the squad and until they do or don't work out i will do what REAL LFC fans are famous back them to the death and remind that whilst in a red shirt you will never walk alone {Ed005's Note - Please mate, don't use terms like you did again.}

That was a post with an awful lot of 'linking'. We haven't bought anyone, we haven't sold anyone (except kuyt). Everyone is free to give their own opinion of the squad, whether it's before we've even seen them play, or based on results come Christmas.
But it's probably a little harsh in the middle June to say that we're 'linked' with buying sub standard players, and 'linked' with selling all our best players, therefore we're going to be crap. Patience maybe ....

BigBadBen

12 Jun 2012 15:04:00
ed who do you see on the left and right midfield next season thanks {Ed002's Note - We cannot get drawn in to answering such questions.}

Nobody in midfield... But Downing and Suarez will more than likely be the width in the final third with Carroll CF. A combination of 3 of Hendo, Gerrard, Adam, Lucas, Shelvey and possibly Sigurdsson will be the midfield. more attack will come from Johnno and Enrique, who will thrive with the attacking space.

Red7.

12 Jun 2012 14:56:23
Not a rumour, but i think we should get in cheap options this summer. Bargains if you will. Dunno why everyone is so worked up about Kalou.. Free transfer, proven in the league, scored goals, and is happy to be a squad player, which is what we need. Depth!

Diame - Free (Lucas Back up)
Sigurdsson - £7m (Gerrard understudy)
Tello - £8m (young goal scoring winger)
Kalou - Free (proven goal scoring winger)
Defoe? - £8m (proven, pacey striker)
Left back?

6 players. hopefully bag all of them for under a net spend (in terms of transfer fees alone) of about £30m obviously depending on who the striker and the left back is. You never know though, Rodgers might see J.Robinson as being adequate back up and A.Morgan is really pushing at the moment. I think we need another pacey striker though as Bellamy cannot play every game, and is our only speed freak (so to speak) in the squad.

Just my humble opinion. Spending big is unecessary. Look at our expenditure next to Evertons and then look at ur league position. Enough said really?

Give Sterling a chance as back up left winger.

Carroll, Downing, Henderson and Coates will all come good.

Suso needs to be loaned out.

God bless. C'mon Engalnd! and Good luck Rodgers.

YNWA! (Adam)

Hi Ed..first great site and kool work...

There have been tons of rumours flying around who liverpool buys...
Ed what you think of these players below.present situation, chance of getting, and do you rate him?

1. Sturridge
2. Milner
3. Ramirez.

Hi Ed's, rumours coming out this morning that Bologna have confirmed they are currently negotiating a deal for the sale of Gaston Ramirez, do you know which team this may be? {Ed022's Note - Manchester City.}

12 Jun 2012 13:10:31
Are Liverpools staff enjoying the Euro's too much to actually go out and sign anyone? Come on all the leagues big clubs have made moves. Or am I not a real fan for wanting speed?

I agree,the best deals ( pricewise ) are ones that are done quickly to avoid competition from other clubs. On the other hand the just because it isn't public knowledge doesn't mean it isnt happening. Maybe the club just decide to keep things under wraps...

12 Jun 2012 13:08:47
Ed's is David Villa injured? Also, what is his age? I have seen him some mostly international but is his style compatable with playing at a the top until around about what age would you quess? Thanks.
{Ed022's Note - He broke his leg last November and hasn't really played since.}

He's almost fit again now, able to train and all that, he just ran out of time to be fit by euros, apparently not by much at all. But i think by the time he regains confidence in his leg it will be time to wind down so to speak. If it takes 12 months to be completely confident on his leg, he'll be 31, pushing 32 by that stage, and yes it takes that long to regain full confidence in a broken bone.

12 Jun 2012 13:08:17
I think the fact that Macca hasnt posted in a while is saying something really either were waiting till after the euros (I think is most likely) Also was reading did you say BR (brendon Rodgers just incase ed002 is reading this i know how he likes to make a comedy things) anyway that he was on holiday so im guessing were not wont be looking at anyone till hes back so just by looking at this and the fact macca is hasnt got anything to say im guessing all of you posting saying that you know all are wrong are just wasteing the eds time
Eds i was wondering if you had a view on this!

Cheers JJ {Ed022's Note - We've said all along that transfers are most likely going to be conducted after the Euro's.}

12 Jun 2012 13:06:43
Bologna's Gaston Ramirez has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester City this summer and now the Serie A outfit say they're currently in talks with a top European club over his sale. Bologna general director Roberto Zanzi said to Italian newspaper Il Resto del Carlino: "We are negotiating with an important foreign club for Ramirez. But their offer does not satisfy us. The deal is by no means close to completion."
I just hope its us they are negotiating with and not city. {Ed022's Note - Nope, it's with City.}

12 Jun 2012 14:12:35
Just watched the WC qualifier Australia v Japan and now I know why ed01 rates Honda so highly. Runs the show for Japan and is an extremely skilful player. Don't want to get MOTD, well maybe just a little but i think would be a great buy for anyone. Eds if you could tell me why a big European club haven't attempted to sign him as of yet or does he have some weaknesses that were not evident tonight. Would love Liverpool to go for him.

Cheers and keep up the great work

This is not really a rumour, more an observation. People continually talk of Dalglish "wasting £110M", and therefore FSG now not being prepared to countenance much spend this year as a consequence. The realitiy is that our net spend in 2011 was £34M (£112 out; £78 in from player sales). This is less than Man U net spend (about £38M), less than a third of Chelsea net spend (around £120M) and less than city (£48M) - and City had a net spend of £117M in the previous year.

Forget about next spend you muppet he still spent over 100 million and finished 8th. Look at the signings average at best.

But 38 mil is not a small amount. And after spending the fourth highest in the league, you would expect a decent attempt on the fourth spot.But it never materialised.

Valid point. 1 season of investment and you expect to make up those league positions? We never properly replaced Alonso, Mascherano, and never really invested for 3 seasons - that hurt us as much as trying to integrate half a dozen new players into a team...

I think I'm wasting my time .... its not FM

Richards

To the second poster who referred to the original poster as a muppet, you my friend with no name are the muppet, and you show a distinct lack of respect. You clearly are therefore by inference, not a true Liverpool supporter

The concept is simple : If you sell a player for £20 million and buy a player for £35 million NET SPEND =£15 Million.

Is that easy enough for you to understand ?

Dalglish's TOTAL NETT SPEND is about £35 million, not counting the amount saved on wages for players like Poulson, Konchesky, El Zahr etc.

Dalglish DID NOT SPEND £100 million OK ?

And you have the cheek to call one of the posters a muppet ?

Tel 1949

12 Jun 2012 14:06:32
Eds, is there any hint of who Rodgers may want ? I know Sigurddson is likely, but he must have other targets ? Cheers LFC Gold. {Ed002's Note - You need to keep up with the posts.}

12 Jun 2012 13:54:56
Here we go, time to let the rap flow and show you all how Liverpool is the place to go!

Brendan Rogers, the man with the plan! Will he conquer this land? Level the opposition down to sand or abandon ship, jump into the sea and leave Liverpool FC as soon as we finish below top 3 and Chelsea repeat their feats in the champions league?

Dawn of a new eve, he has given us reason to believe next season so don't be greavin', all you heathens need to start dreamin', get on your feet and start screamin!

Doesn't matter who these teams wield on the field, they will yield as our shield is sealed shut, this is Anfield! So please agree some fees because we need more Stevie G's to squeeze balls with ease through to Luis and watch the defence freeze as they try to seize the ball but he breezes his way through like a mouse to the cheese.

I'm done =D

12 Jun 2012 13:54:31
Sturridge: a very selfish player, seems to have an issue with being part of a team. On the other hand bags of confidence, a certain "cockiness" about him, young, potential to be a quality striker. Would he make a move North?

A Johnson: plays with his chin on his chest, high wages for a bit part player at citeh, kind of waiting for him to express his anger at being on the bench a lot, maybe happy to sit and get his pay packet? Has huge potential, and young enough to adapt and maybe see a bit of potential in himself to take himself to the next level.

IMO, neither would be good for LFC, we cannot be seen to be carrying a single player with BR in charge, it just cannot work with his type of play he wants to bring in.
Milner IMO would be a great buy for us, he gives nothing less than 100%, plays multiple postions and young, but could stump the progression of Hendo, Shelvey, Suso and Coady.

Excited with the prospect of whats to come with BR, in how he shapes the team, and more importantly who he gets rid of and who he brings in. His first move will be his benchmark, either an outgoing or incoming you will be able to see his intentions.

Next couple of weeks im sure will bring news and looking especially forward to training pics on LFC website.
Piddy.

12 Jun 2012 13:29:53
Although i appreciate BR has to evaluate the squad can we really afford to wait until preseason before we start re shaping the squad. There is quality players available I am sure, but I hope we dont wait and wait like in the past and then pay over the odds for our 2nd or 3rd choice options.

12 Jun 2012 13:48:12
Elm looked distinctly average last night hope we get sigurdson

Elm was crap

12 Jun 2012 13:40:40
BR has a lot less to spend than what has been posted on this site,free and low contract players will be targeted.he has been told, sales of exciting players will help towards his budget,but a total of £12mil net spend is what FSG are looking at!!

And you know this cos BR rang you last nite and told you so LMAO why not sign your name to your posts so we can all have a good laugh, Carrano1fan

You idiot, just trying to stir... I mean "Sales of exciting players" what does that mean!? I quote 'We're here to put LFC back to the top' FSG. I choose to believe them over you, the nameless, know nothing bafoon...HA!

12 Jun 2012 13:40:18
eds i know that people have annoyed the daylights out of you, but the name HONDA should be looked at seriously by LFC. I have just finished watching the AFC world cup qualifers with Australia and Japan and if ever there was a case to buy HONDA now is the time. i dont know if any of the AFC qualifers are broadcast in the UK but if you get to see it on any of your networks, this guy is a gem. paying any price for his kind of quality would be money well spent. do me a favour and try and watch this game, a perfect foil in midfield to help Strvie G. i left the ground amazed as to how well he reads the game and finds space and sets up goals. cheers eds and your thoughts. {Ed002's Note - See earlier answers.}

12 Jun 2012 13:28:54
Not a rumour just watched the aussie v japan game and honda was superb any chance for the pool the eds btw great site luv it

12 Jun 2012 12:59:06
after watching aus vs japan play out a 1all draw, that kagawa didnt have the greatest match and honda bossed the mid field, i wish we had looked at him with more intent when we were linked with him last season, but god controvesial game.

still very hard to want Cahill to score from an australian fan, but secretly wanting his legs to break as a liverpool fan.

good luck brendon rogers u have my full suport, and im loving buying my new shirt today and gettin the last one in the shop while there was atleast 10 left each of man u and chelsea. huge following over here for the reds.

aussiepool tristan

heres to a more prosporious season for liverpool.

12 Jun 2012 12:53:50
Good god Honda is class! Has to be value in Asia like Kagawa will be and Park is. Seriously Honda must be considered if there is a chance. He sets up goals scores and defends. He has pummeled by the Aussies tonight an st loved it! Perfect for EPL

If FSG want to tap in to the Asian market then signing Honda would do it! Plus it would be money well spent! A win win situation! Could not understand why we never pursued our interest in him in Jan 11?

12 Jun 2012 12:47:12
Why arent Newcastle players being lined up? We should surely be looking at players such as Cabaye and Ben Arfa, strong CM would be brilliant, we need a winger and Ben Arfa was one of the best in the league last year, fairly consistent, he does not have the lightning pace of Lennon but he has end product which many fast wingers lack. Why is there next to no interest in these players currently?

Anfield Andy

Because you do not have the money to buy Cabaye and Ben Arfa. And why would they want to go to Liverpool? We are a bigger club, better run, bigger attendances and as Carroll and Enrique have proved - it was big mistake moving to Liverpool.
Geordie

Haha, bigger club my ar*e! One lucky season and all of a sudden they are best in Europe!

Thats why i cant stand newcastle fans.

we had a very poor season by our standard which included winning a cup and getting to the final of another, whereas your measure of success was yet again winning sweat FA for the fiftysomething year in a row. Any player who wants to win trophies would chose LFC over the barcodes every day of the week. Reality Red

Newcastle are a small club with good players. They will leave too. Have fun in the sports direct next season it will not be like the last.

Bigger club haha dnt make me laugh, use we're in the championship two years ago! Oh an when was the last time newcastle won a trophy? Dennis 89

Midfield
I expect this year to get siguasson which I feel we need a (cam) we need a rw Adam Johnson and James Milner both these players will be excellent addition for the Liverpool

A lot of good midfield players on a free likes of Diame from Wigan, holiett from Blackburn could be next Ashley young, and montlevio from forentina
We should sell a few players in the squard the likes of Adam, maxi, Alberto aqullaini,dani PACecco.

goalkeeper
I wish by next year we sell pepe as he saves one or two and let's in too many goals if we cud get a keeper from Germany from the top 6 clubs or tim Kurl or vorm. I know a lot of Liverpool fans disagree but he makes too many mistakes like at fulham this year, he is very weak at his near post as he lets in too many goals especially at the 2 of the cup finals played this year. However his distribution and corners are very good. If we get a firm bid of 20m we should consider selling him.

Striker
Luis suraz has let the club down this season I am a very big fan but we should consider bids in the region of 30m if we get that we should buy Daniel s from Chelsea and another experience striker who can get goals. Or even jovatic from fortentia

Defenders
Our defenders are okay we defo need to get rid of falagan I fink jack Robinson will b good but sketal or agger may leave therefore ideal replacement stoke captian

From a Geordies point of view why would Tim Krul want to go to Liverpoool? He's at a bigger club in Newcastle and he has seen the likes of Carroll and Enrique leave for only one reason - money. As the saying goes the grass is not always greener.

A Liverpool fan that cant spell our players names?
Reina had 1 bad season get off his back, who could we possibly get whos even close to his level to replace him.. No 1

Davies73

Mate, who are all these players you mentioned, can't recognize their names?

Since when are a club who have won f*** all and were in championship obscurity only a few seasons ago you geordies are deluded little lads.... Remember 5 times 5 times.. Newcastle probable won the leauge in the 90s 1890s lol

Bigger club my arse u may of finished above us but when was the last time u won a trophy , personally i wouldnt want any of your players and your team will b found out this season and where the toon used to b exciting to watch your now 1 of the most boring sides in the prem...ynwa steve

How are newcastle a bigger club than Liverpool?

Don't make me laugh...

TIZER RED

You seriously think Newcastle are a bigger club then Liverpool?

Tom.

Where to begin ďŠ

Midfield
Yes Siggy for centre attack mid is a good choice and will probably happen. We need both a left and right winger with pace and end product. Milner is staying at City, Johnson is a possibility. BR will know who he wants and I'm sure in the next 3 weeks we will see 2 new wingers “ these players will be paramount to the success of his system and so he will look for the best possible wingers the club can bring in that suit his style philosophy and have the mentality to succeed wearing a heavy red shirt.

Goalkeeper “BR has said Reina is one of the best keepers in the world and Reina has said he can't wait to play as a sweeper keeper as that is what his game is suited to and how he was brought up in the Barca academy to play. Reina is going no where.

Striker “ Suarez is more likely than not, staying, his work rate and overall ability far exceeds any striker we could obtain the services of and the fact that he can play out wide equally as devastating, means BR will do everything in his power to keep him. Unless a surprise striker becomes available and LFC make an astonishing deal “ Suarez will stay.

Defenders “ Stoke Captain? Are you serious? BR demands footballing centre backs, if either Skrtel or Agger is sold “ which I doubt, a replacement will be foreign and possess ability to play the ball out from the back. Glen Johnson will stay as BR rates him as potentially the best right back in the world. We are likely to see only a left wing back signed.

I cant believe a newcastle fan as really just said there bigger than liverpool,am an everton fan and were there is banter and good humour between everton and liverpool fans we know liverpool are a massive football club and you newcastle are not even close and never will be close to them.Here in merseyside we av 2 clubs were you av the 1 club thats why you think you are a big club buy ye not. Lewis

New castle a bigger club...?

BR joined us after the season ended, he hsa not had all the players together yet, he has not started to coach them or held a training session.
Untill he has given them some time in the system he wants how is he possibly going to decide on who he wants to keep and who he wants to move on?
I would suggest that we are quite away from any signings at this point, and he might decide to leave most things as they are untill January, it may take that long to start to get his system operating.
RNred

I cant see him waiting until january he said in his first interview he wants to bring a few players i agree it might be a few week until we see any transfer activity im sure he's hard at work indentifying areas and players that he would like to bring in even while he was on holiday he will have been busy doing that
giblet

BR came out and already said he will need to buy 2-3 or 4 players to play his system... that plus the fact that its obvious we do not have the 2 attacking wingers that are vital to his system. I think we should expect the 2 wingers to be wrapped up along with Siggy by the 2nd week of July.

12 Jun 2012 12:29:21
BR will look to buy Siggurdsson. No news to most there. Its pretty muched nailed on however Rodgers is handling the situation carefully so as to maintain good relations with Swansea. His press admission was a move the let the player know he is interested without approaching. He was aware it would not please Swansea board, he is desperate to land to player and knew this approach would not lead to an angered response.

He has also highlighted Giovanni Dos Santos as target as the player greatly suits his style which has strong simlilarities with Barcelona where Dos Santos was quite successful. The slight issue of Spurs refusal to deal players to liverpool, however this deal can still be pushed through on the cheap with Dos Santos's contract situation. He would most welcome a move to liverpool and although I expect a backlash to his signature from fans here, I think he will do very well if he applies himself. I am quite certain this one will go through.

Diame deal is on the table and I suspect the move to conclude as Rodgers has a strong liking for the player who he eyes as his Yaya Toure. Sorry for the Barcelona link constantly but trying to highlight the fact that BR will try to implement this style and Diame who is also good technically aswell as in the tackle looks certain to conlude.

Those are the 3 most concrete at the moment although of course not certain. Rodgers is also happy that he may colude all 3 for less than 10 million pound transfer fees which is eyed as a great bargain. BR is of course looking at striking options and other players if at the right price.

Mate, honestly. To see a focused Gio Dos Santos in liverpools red... I'd be so so happy, i watch him for Mexico, particularly in the Gold Cup last year, and he's just an amazing footballer. But in saying that, he needs to get his s**t together. But in saying THAT, he's still young, we seem to forget that as he's been around for so long.
If we could get a hold of him, and to do it while he's still growing up, we'd have an absolute gem.

There is no way i'll be expecting the signing though, i'm just dreaming...

Eds, if a player is bought from outside the EC and then can't get a work permit. How is it they can be loaned to European clubs? Aren't we all bound by the same European law in that respect? {Ed022's Note - No we aren't, which to me seems rather strange also. Don't ask me though, no idea why this is the case.}

I believe it is down to the Home Office. They brought in stricter rules (75% games to have been played by a player for his national team) to help with younger players (home talent) being brought through by clubs. This only applies to players outside the EU. It's purely a British thing with the stricter rules so this may explain why these players can be loaned to other Euro Leagues.

Cork Red Boi {Ed002's Note - It is broadly as you say but that is only for higher ranked nations - bringing in someone from lower ranked nations (e.g. Bolivia, Tonga etc.) are stricter still. There is then the "excertional talent" based exception rule that can be used.}

But who in the Home Office could decide what is 'exceptional' talent?

Puzzled {Ed002's Note - It is not decided without input from those who may be better placed to tell. I don't want to go in to giving names.}

12 Jun 2012 12:15:20
looking at recent posts im thinking if we bid £17m for Adam Johnson £18m for sturridge when they payed peanuts for the players are we not giving these teams more spending power maybe buy overseas players and the academy is the way forward just a thought thanks all mal....

Who's to say they'd be any more effective than what we have? they're not fantastic players in their own right, and if we give our boys, all of them, a season under Rodgers, i'm very sure they'll prove to be better players than those two.

20 mill at most for the pair!

These are the players I would like us to sign and most importantly who could sign' as I believe they are available and would be of interest of us. Soldado,Adam Johnson,aly cissoko and sigurdson. Not only would these players be excellent additions but they would fit into BR's style of play. However BR's may see other players more viable.'

Where are we going to get the money from to buy these players.? We have brought Brendan Rodgers in to run the club on a shoestring - we have no money cos Kenny wasted over 100m!

chances of sturridge????? {Ed022's Note - Unlikely, but technically speaking it's possible.}

Dear Ed's, Macca and the rest of my fellow reds (THE TRUE RED's).

I have been addicted to this site from the first day and it's safe to say my work has suffered during the transfer window period immensely.
Firstly congratulations to the Ed's and Macca for the most concise rumours and information which has won me some good money and further I commend you all on the slacking off your team takes from the ungrateful moaners that besiege your site with the same rubbish arguments.

Secondly I just read on "Sly-Sports" that an important foreign club has bid for Gaston Ramirez, could that important foreign club be Liverpool (from all the rumours seen on this sight it seems the REDs has been consistently link with G.Ramirez)

Thirdly, well done on the appointment of B.R (yes very late I know), let's hope our fair weather fans don't start singing doom and gloom at the first sign of a drawn game.

Finally to all the true red fans lets all get behind the team, whomever they sign be it Poulsen's granny (way better mind you, at least she could trap a ball if you know what I mean) and can't wait for the start of the season may it be the Red side of Merseyside(well is there any other side?) with the EPL trophy.

RED TERROR 89
{Ed022's Note - I am not aware of a Liverpool bid for Ramirez.}

12 Jun 2012 11:24:57
Is caughoffsh*te reliable ed? It reports we are after Adam Johnson, nigel de Jong and James milner what are the chances of these players? Thanks boxster red!! {Ed022's Note - It is not reliable, it is a place where utter nonsense is created to manipulate fans by randomly making up rumours with no substance at all. Simple as that.}

Milner would be good he supports lfc and is a worker like dirk was.

It's good when they do the WAG's profile to be fair but that's about it.

Its probably the most unreliable sit out there mate if you look on there archives to players they have linked us to i dont think even 1 came the only time they get it right is after lfc confirmed it lol the people who write it are kids who usually get paid a football top or 2 for making up the drivel they come out with god only knows how many tops they must have with all the crap they write lol
riley

12 Jun 2012 11:23:33
I am feeling that LFC doesn't have proper funds! Why are we late on transfers! Why don't need to sell Acquaman for £3m!

We need to spend at least £50m on players to get back to the top 4.

Your right we dont need to sell him but we want to sell him as he doesn't want to play in england he's well over rated and it will be good to get him off the wage bill when we have been paying him for the last 3 year's and he has played about 20 games seriously mate because were sell aqua you think were skint its all about get the useless waste of space of the wage bill thats it

hi eds, ive not posted since br was named manager, ive just carried on reading the daily posts. but can you if poss answer me this question as im not in the know when it comes to this thing called tikki takka, reading the many posts about it some are in favour and others against it but what is tikki takka football? is it the way the spanish national team play and spanish football in general? if so does it originate from spain.? ive also noticed a lot of posts about players being linked to lfc most i gather made up or recycled newspaper junk, as no news is coming out of anfield (or even macca) about transfers then that is a good thing. lets get behind br and hope the players he signs play for the shirt not the paypacket.
billy {Ed022's Note - Its a type of football play, but I myself don't have any care in the world for it so I don't know much about it also. I feel people have taken the whole 'tiki taka' thing way too far and are overthinking something which bluntly, isn't worth it.}

12 Jun 2012 10:54:36
We're playing Spurs in a pre-season friendly, too.... so we must have signed Bale and Modric..... SWEET. lol.

Maybe spurs are signing Suarez & Skrtel

I think you'll find it's Gomez

This friendly is actually a smokescreen for the signing of Lionel Messi

Just looking at the papers and websites this morning, it seems that a new verb has been introduced to the Oxford English Dictionary :

to "Chelsea" - to concede possession & defend very deeply ; to be pinned back & have nine lives ; to hardly get a kick but sling a dead ball in and score.

To "Chelsea" !

The Real KB

I believe the original term was to "Greece". But when said aloud without the aid of seeing it in writing, it sounded more like "to Grease" which was seen as sounding unnecessarily violent and homicidal...

Red7.

Does this replace the current deffinition of "to waste money on strikers"?

MIKEY

So England "Chelsea'd" last night?

Chris in Tamworth

And they probably will keep on doing a chelsea for as long as were in it or keep getting away with it
riley

Great, that means I Chelsea'd last night with this girl ;)

Jolly Red

I never saw the game last night Chris, but a couple of France players have been quoted as saying that. And some pundits did likewise after the Denmark / Holland match.
Hehe.

Glen Johnson in exchange for sturridge I'm tipping, they need a rb we need a striker and he misses London. Ed just a quick one, when was the last time we had a decent right winger, surely now, finally br will sort this out?!

12 Jun 2012 10:28:04
Hi, Ed.

How often in what way do you think our scouting system get reformed, scouts getting replaced, head scout/chief scout/youth scout like wise..?

I am personally not convinced with our scouting network /scouting department. I believe FSG needs to address this area & reform this section of the club as well.

Clubs like Newcastle, Chelsea, United & Arsenal is way ahead of us in scouting quality players & identifying top talents...

Bosco {Ed002's Note - I have no idea how you have come to that conclusion. Having spent a couple of hours with two people from the Liverpool "scouting network" it seems to me they know exactly what they are doing. But hey - force them out iof you want.}

We have one of the best youth and reserve setups and promising group of players in the country.
I suggest you subscribe to LFCtv (online or traditionally) and follow the matches and general news.
The NextGen series was a particulary good experience, and an excellent move by the club to get involved in. The coming seasons participation will hopefully prove a further step forward.

SCF27

The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Not the suggestion but the original remains true.}

Chelsea are hardly ahead if us the players they have been signing are hardly unearthed gems pretty much any 1 who knows anything about football knows something about there signings lol well first team players any way im not a scout but i could have told you mata hazard and de bryune were good players

12 Jun 2012 10:13:21
Liverpool in extraordinary bid for Messi and the whole Barcelona squad. You heard it here first.

In all seriousness, stop the bullcrap rumours like Sturridge. Idiocy at its highest.

Eds, who are the home-grown players Liverpool are targeting? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any home grown targets right now. There was talks of the lieks of Phillips but that was before Rodgers arrived. I would expect that Rodgers will want to look at the squad he has before refining it.}

Why can't people believe ED002 when she says Rogers will analyse the squad before making any signings?

Since half the squad of the LFC first team is away with England how can Rogers analyse anything?

12 Jun 2012 10:11:32
Hey Eds,
When does the transfer season open for English players, European players and others?

I heard that there are different times players are available for transfer depending on the country they play in??

Keep up the good work. I love this site! {Ed002's Note - Players contracted to English clubs can be signed now. Players released from contracts can be signed now. Players with contracts ending on June 30 and not released, and players from most European clubs - July 1.}

12 Jun 2012 09:52:58
Starting to genuinely think Macca is an England player.... that's why it's gone so quiet... If that's the case... Good luck mate! :)

NextGenRed {Ed002's Note - Please drop all of this nonsense as it is wasting our time. Macca will I am sure say something when he has something worth saying.}

Or his sources are away at the euros

Morning ed,s and fellow reds. I just want to shed more light on a topic that has previously been discussed on.people on here stating that we should buy ONE BIG PLAYER OR ANOTHER....have you not heard the saying that 'ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD'.what i am trying to say is that sometimes,these so called BIG name players might turn out to be either a PLUS or a MINUS.It has happened in the past ,some names which are well known to us that turned up to be flops includes the likes of;ibrahimovic(barcelona),shevchenko(chelsea),torres(sad to say but true)and so on....what i am trying to say is that 'IT IS NOT BUYING THE BIG NAME PLAYERS BUT HAVING THE RIGHT PLAYERS THAT WILL FIT IN INTO THE MANAGERS STYLE'.Another example of such is that,if you look at some of the teams that won their leagues ,they do not possess big name players (montepiller,dortmund).So in all honesty,we don,t need to be like mancs or chelski to achieve success,but the RIGHT players.thanks. EUG23 LFC.

Because I am Mr Pedantic I'll point out that actually the quote should be "all that GLISTERS is not gold"

Chris in Tamworth

Rodgers gave youngsters a go at Swanses didn't he? I would like to see Coates this season as I hear he is more of a ball playing defender as Agger is. If thats true and Reina's form gets better and he is the old sweeper we know and love all we have to do is strengthen left back and we will look good at the back. Hope Agger and Gerard don't get injured in this tournament, as likely as it is.

12 Jun 2012 09:39:38
Personally, I dont believe Liverpool need to sign loads of players.

The first 11 we have is definitely good enough to challenge top four .. it was KK's managment that let us down.

Poor team selection, outrageous substitutions and often poor system. Did not utilise players enough to their strengths.
(Not a pop @ KK, just stating the truth)

If BR can do this, then we dont need to spend big at all..

LONDONRED

Our First 11 are not good enough

We have no out and out striker

No good wingers

No DM cover

And that's just for starters

Kenny inherited a very poor team and the fix could not take place over one season

Simple As:

I wish BR all the best but if you see BR as the messiah then God help him if things go awry!

Just because Downing had one poor (goalscoring) season doesnt make him a bad winger. Andy Carroll is definitely an out and out striker but wasnt played enough. Craig Bellamy .. always on the bench. I said BR neednt spend big, I didnt say BR neednt spend at all. DM cover is required, agreed.

People need to give KK the acknowledgement of his achievements, managing Liverpool FC for 18 months is not an achievement.

Stop this ridiculous "KK is God" mentality .. he isnt. He was a great player. Legend. Manager - he isnt even in EPL top 10.

LONDONRED

Then you know little of Kenny as mgr first time around

Hi ed's,
Did you see the guy Shevchenko last night? Liverpool should sign him up he's a world beater!. An ex pro who was on the bbc analysis panel used to play in the same league as him and said he had a great game. Make of it what you will, but I think this can be taken at more than face value!..
Just trying to keep with the spirit of rumours and people seeing a player for 5 mins in the Euros and becoming convinced they are world class and the answer to all of Liverpool's problems! I see Yarmolenko was one last night, probably a Polish player or two tonight.

Cheers,
TommyB

You're joking, right? Shevchenko? One of the world's most lethal strikers for about a decade and who also had a miserable spell at Chelsea?

Is it possible for english teams to enter something like a "Barcelona B" type team? I think a Liverpool B team entered into say... league 1 would be great, like "B" teams in spain, they'll be subject to the same promotion and relegation rules. With the exception of premier league or the same league as the first team... Just a thought, and wondering why we've never seen anything like this in countries outside Spain. {Ed002's Note - It is not possible.}

Why? {Ed002's Note - I am not even going to bother to answer this - sorry.}

We should just buy Tranmere Rovers :)
Seriously. Rovers are owned by Liverpool supporter Peter Johnson who I think would welcome the idea. As he's looking to wind down his business interests as he now lives in Switzerland.
kidmillions

The lower leagues in England actually mean something

Probably cheaper to buy Everton.

It would be massively unfair to the lower league teams. Think how much they gain from loaning players from above. Also how unfair would it be if "B" teams were to stop other local clubs being promoted.

I have been watching the silence from within anfield and listening to the rumours I believe Suarez will be sold and Adam ! Stevie g will be asked to play xavi/Alonso role as his legs are not able we will get siggurdson and kalou and maybe tello/affelay depending on price we will bring in another striker but we finished eighth so forget llorente soldado etc why would they join a non cl club it is more likely a sturridge type signing player potential gag want resale so player over 23 forget it ! Hi Eds,

Just wanted to mention how embarrassing it is when some of the people on this site proclaim that they are not English they are Scouse. Well I'm afraid Liverpool is a major city within the boarders of England. If your born and bread in Liverpool then you are English FACT. If you don't want to support the national team then that's fine. I'm not exactly a big lover of the England team myself as I can't stand the cronies at the FA. It's one bad appointment after another when it comes to England and I lost interest along time ago. But to say your not English is just a disgrace. I was born in Liverpool and Liverpool will always comes first it's in my D.N.A. For me it's the greatest city in the world with the greatest people in the world. But I will never deny the fact that I'm English and I am very proud to be English. I spent 22 years in the British army and served with lads from all over the UK and never once did I hear anyone deny the fact they were not English. You would never get anyone from Scotland, Wales, N Ireland or Ireland deny their nationality. Sorry for the rant, but it just gets on my goat.

Elmo96

Of course, it's a disgrace if someone thinks differently to you.

I've never been especially proud to be English and I can't see that changing. National pride is an outdated concept and one that could be doing with tossed in the bin.

If anything, more often than not, I feel embarrassed to be English, not proud. I'm glad your love our 'green and pleasant land' so much, but to brand people who think differently to you a disgrace is indeed disgraceful in its self.

If you have served in the Forces for 22 years then that would imply you are old enough to know better.

davethebutcher

Having worked all over Europe I am embarrassed to be called English as well, we really are a disgrace of a nation.
That's why I am proud to be scouse but embarrassed to be English.

MIKEY

National pride in many countries not just England has been sold for Multi culturlarism and many people have lost their identity nothing Racist it is what it is in the globalized world:

I think Elmo would be better served asking the people from Liverpool who feel this way why they have this point of view rather than branding them "a disgrace" because they have an opinion and a mind of their own.
I'm no expert and I'm not from Liverpool either, but I believe there are political and historical reasons why this feeling exists.
In the 1980's under the Thatcher government cities like Liverpool and certain towns were effectively disenfranchised by "England". They were abandonned by the government and told to "get on their bikes", presumably to Lahndan town, in order to seek employment.
Another factor is the fact that Liverpool, being a port, is open to a degree of immigration and in the past many "non-English" people have settled there. Many Liverpudlians feel more Irish than English and I would argue it has more to do than where your birth was registered but is cultural and historical.

The QUAGGAR

Whats the difference between Nationalism and tribalism? I have a lot of respect for you Elmo, but you yourself will agree that the patriotism is drummed into the young boys 'n' girls from inception into the forces. Liverpool has many issues with Central government and the people feel hard done by. Correct me if I'm wrong but the city has five of the top ten areas of high poverty compared to other areas of the Country. That's disgusting! You also need to remember that the influx of Welsh and Irish families have ingrained an anti-English feeling which has spread through the blood of the generations. The City and Merseyside region has been neglected for many years.There are many other reasons I suppose. We only have to refer back to Spain and the City of New York and Boston who proudly shadow the thoughts of many of the scouse people. Anyway, the rest of them are arrogant little Englanders with bad suedes!;)

Disapproving of intolerant people, no matter how you state your opinions, is intolerence in itself. Your own views are yours alone, and should not be forced onto anybody else, no matter how many people "agree" with you.
I think the days of people feeling they have to take sides are at an end and this is why 'national pride' is a dying concept. With global media, education and modern transport, the world is no longer the isolated and segmented place it once was. maybe not everything has to be fought for or defended anymore?, because there's always a loser, just as there are 2 sides to EVERY story.

Not entirely relevant, just a little rant...

Red7.

Yeah and it's a disgrace that you even bother to reply with total rubbish like that, I'm not proud to be English? What's that mate? Sort yourself out.

Zed

Each to there own i suppose but i too find it sad that people are no longer proud of our country.im proud to be english and im proud of our forces who dedicate there lives to serve and protect our people.we owe alot to many soilders who have sacrifed there lives serving our country.so regardless what anyone else thinks i would just like to say im proud of you elmo and many others like you. Simply thankyou.. English and proud!

Jeffsy

Zed; read some history books mate, then you will realise why I feel embarrassed to be English.

On top of all the historical reasons, the fact that the system has failed not just me, but a lot of others too and has been for many years. I'm sorry if you cannot see my point, but what more do I expect from a narrow minded Englishman?

Your country needs YOU. NOT the other way round. People would do well to remember that.

Why on earth would Liverpool wanna sell Johnson I seen him against France and he was brill one of the better players and were surposed to be going forwards not backwards ? And he is probably by far the best rb in the prem
And I think the positions that do need strethening is both wings and maybe one or two strikers that can get 20 goals a season cause you look at man city tottenham chelski man utd for the past 3-4 seasons they've all got 4-5 strikers and who can come on and change a game

Why don't we make a move for
D.sturridge young fits fsg policy and could probably get us the 15-20 goals a season given the right position and delivery in to him and why don't we make an atemped to get a world class striker like villa higuine or benzema or any other big names cause man city did it with no champs lge or Europa lge and don't say it's about the wage cause some players don't go for that and am I right or not did comoli say before he got fired that there were 7 top players world class players that wanted to join ??

Was it just me who saw him out of position for most of the match?

MIKEY

Glenn gets so much stick, some justified admittedly, but as he showed yesterday how much his defending has improved in the last 2 years. We missed him since the Carling Cup Final, in particular his pace and cover he offers....

As for the supposed contract/wages and paying him too much, I don't know why some fans get themselves fixated with this. We have to trust the owners and management to run the club in the best way they can. for me he's an asset who we should keep and i will continue to stick up for him.... just like I did Lucas!

Richards

Agree, Johnson would suit a new formation to a T. Not a RB as such, maybe infront of a back 3.Have a feeling he will go though, wages are a huge issue with FSG. And being a regular for England, regular CL probably enters his mind !.
Piddy.

Elmo
You are so proud to be English,then please use the language properly.
i.e" Englands boarders "(borders) and "born and bread" (bred).
Derek

Sorry Einstein, I mean Derek, what has my spelling and grammar got to do with being a proud Englishman? Crawl back under your little rock you ******. Are they the only mistakes you could find in my rant? What a sad individual you are.

Elmo96

Elmo96

Derek, you also need a little lesson in grammar. Your sentence should read (Elmo if you are so proud to be English) not (Elmo you are so proud to be English) Pot and Kettle spring to mind.

Hi Ed's plz post cuz I'm really interested in knowing if there is a paper that are usually right about transfers?
Or are they all just making up stuff? {Ed005's Note - Look at their track records and make up your mind about it mate.}

The Guardian has the best record. {Ed002's Note - There is a league table of the hit rates for papers - you should be able to find it with a little research.}

They all tend to put targets out there without much info and if one turns up ITS AN EXCLUSIVE YOU RAD IT HERE FIRST just look at the managers job at anfield they all went with the Martinez story but most claimed you heard it here first for the Rodgers appointment

Throw enough s**t, some will stick!

Where has macca gone? I'm genuinely concerned for him, also heard mixed reviews of Elms performance today... what was your take on him Ed's?
{Ed005's Note - He wasn't great but since when did total evaluation of a player come from one game? If that's the case I guess we could look at the England vs. France game and say Gerrard and Benzema are two average players?}

Thought Gerrard was excellent today. Worked hard, rarely gave the ball away and that free kick was stunning.

Jigglypoof {Ed005's Note - He wasn't any special - it's not the Gerrard we know for Liverpool and it certainly wasn't out there today. Regardless of how you rate his performance that wasn't the point and I was just using it as an example to display that one game, particularly a poor game, doesn't determine whether a player is good or not.}

Ed005, you are right in not to judge a player on one game but as for Gerrard he played the role he was asked to play, a disciplined performance... good performance at that, certainly not average.

Richards

Gerrard done all that was asked of him.

He was told by Roy to stay in Midfield and not Rampage forward that's what he did when you do as your told what more can you do, He created the Goal.

Gerrard can't always be be the swashbuckling hero much as I would like it.

I don't get it, we are linked with absolutely no one. Seriously every player mentioned on this site will not come to lfc. So the eds seem to thinks so, and I believe they are right,
We have no money owners will not invest like last year it's just all a joke, especially after Chelsea city arsenal and the scum are buying left right and centre. How can you keep faith in lfc anymore just one wrong decision after another. Looking forward to a 12th placed finish next season.
A very frustrated red. {Ed005's Note - That's why Anfield has become so easy to play in for opposition teams - it's full of people with your attitude. The transfer window hasn't even opened yet.}

Only Tuesday and we have a strong contender for stupidist post of the week.

LIVERPRES

Ed , i for one very frustrated .......the players we sign did not come to our expectation..... whether the team wins or loses , they stilll get their pay ........ we dont want to know how much the club paying the players BUT what the players do for the club , for the supporters........

Agree with ed

A horrible ignorant post. I'll tell you what a joke is, rival fans coming on to this site & seeing your level of support & intellect regards the game.

dd

Worst post I've ever seen on this site. You obviously aren't a Liverpool fan.
Anyway I think that your post is wrong because I think that Liverpool are gonna spend some money and that one or two might be genuinly surprised!
I wish some people would let the transfer window open before moaning that we haven't made any transfers yet!

Can't say I was very impressed with Rasmus Elm, looks more average than decent. {Ed005's Note - And I bet that's the first time you've ever seen him play.}

Had swedes in my cab the other week asked about elm they said he's no seb Larson so I said does that mean in a bad way they just laughed and said of course he's ok does that give you a clue

Ed I have seen him quite a bit and he isn't up to much

So Aquilani might be sold for £3m, my, my what a great deal he turned out to be.
Paid £20m carried on paying part of his wages.
Thanks Rafa, sound evaluation there.

To be fair, he's a very decent player, had he not had his very unforseeable emotional issues, he'd have been a great buy at 20m.

You know Rick Parry basically signed Aquilani? Rafa's choices were Barry, Jovetic and Dani Alves.. but he got Aqua and G.Johnson..
Parry screwed us. He was no better than the Cowboys.
Dont take pops at Rafa.. when was the last time we won a trophy that isn't a run out for Reserves? 2005/2006 i think you'll find.

Cant we just thank RB and back BR!

YNWA! (Adam)

The problem is he does not want to be in the country. It's a bit out of order giving Rafa stick when we sacked him and is no longer in a position to talk him around. If your going to blame people it is Aqua and the managers since. If BR is that good maybe he can perseude him?

Didn't we just win the FA Cup last season?

Mark the Selby Red {Ed002's Note - Are you sure?}

Don't want him anyway would rather get 3 million for him and off the wage bill. And we won the carling cup!

We won the Carling Cup. Often referred to as the mickey mouse cup. About 4 teams (Liverpool included) played with general intent to win, and it really hurt our league form. If you want to win that cup, you need a big squad, hence why Chelsea won it 3 years on the spin.

Hi eds,

Great temperament from some of the repetitive questions.

No rumours, no speculation, just wondering when BR will be back in the UK and when will players officially report to training (as in the first training session)?

Also, I would love to know what you think of the chances of Andy Carroll leaving are? Personally I think he will come good. Dominated terry in the final when he came on and as much as I hate terry, that is no easy feat!

Totally excited about BR's arrival. Wondering who he'll play, where they'll play, how we'll play is all promising! I don't expect an overnight success but I think we'll start to some more attractive football which will breed confidence and inevitably goals!

Cheers

Mike G

YNWA

{Ed005's Note - Carroll won't leave and I think Rodgers is due back this week.}

Hi Eds,

From my understanding there will be no set DoF at Liverpool next season, but rather a board/panel.

I realise no one has any idea of names, but do we know anything more concrete than what has been reported by various rags?

Are we going to be looking at a "board room" interview for prospective players?

Also that guy playing with the No 4 for england looked like he could do a job in our midfield, any chance?
{Ed005's Note - Don't have any names in mind mate - LVG and Tixi were the favourites for the role but since BR has came in the role of the DoF has changed so maybe we'll have to completly draw up new ideas for the role. And I'm sure any prospective players will have dialogue with BR.}

We are still trying to get Daid Dein to take the role of managing director.

hello ed's

first time poster but been a fan of the site for a while now. never asked a question before because more of them get asked a few hundred times a day, and that's only the ones you choose to show, I'm sure there are a lot more

my question is, do you think BR will stick to the formation that brought him the most success at Swansea, or would he tweak it to suit the players we have at our disposal, and hopefully some more lol, whilst maintaining his core beliefs on how football should be played

your doing a great job, a job you don't have to do, and we appreciate you for it {Ed005's Note - In all honesty mate I think he'll try to implement his playing philosophy on the team, this tika-teka (sp) football which can be ulilised in different formations. I think he'll play the 4-3-3 and I believe we have the players to fit into that. These things take time though.}

12 Jun 2012 00:27:43
Christian Tello
likely or unlikely?

I think it's quite likely if we want him. {Ed002's Note - I would not say likely. If he comes up for sale and if Liverpool are interested and can put a deal together which is acceptable to Barcelona, then Tello could consider it with all of the other offers he will have.}

Just watched the game between Ukraine and Sweden. Our old friend Voronin had a decent first half and of course scored with two brilliant srikes.Looking at the younger players, Yarmolenko had quite a good game, but the young player who impressed me the most was Yevhen Konoplyanka playing in the left midfield area, very sililar in style to Eden Hazard, in my opinion. I was so annoyed when Hazard signed for Chelsea, but this guy would seem to be as good, brilliant close control, can use both feet. Would fit into Brendan's plan perfectly. What do you think ?
Northern Git

Shevchenko got both?

Tom.

Motd fev........

This a wind-up?

Voronin showed bags of skill, determination, and energy and was the best player on the park. A great reason why you should not judge a player on one game. He had lost a load of weight though.
Grayswood

Why were you annoyed when Chelsea got hazard?

Sorry about that, I did type in 'and of course Shevshenko scored with two brilliant srikes', don't know what happened there. My main point was to say that I found Konoplyanka a classy player.

Did I dream this or did Shevchenko score both goals?!
